See post match show Sounders FC. Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC post match show starts now A good wait for your Seattle Sounders. We can all breathe easy after that ending final score two to one as the Rave Green take the win. They're in Colorado against the Rapids, goals from Leo Chew in the thirty fourth minute and Albert Russknack with a powerful header in the fifty sixth minute,
and that is how the Sounders got there too. Colorado made it close a goal in the eightieth minute by Bassett, who leads their team with just four goals on the season, but strong defensively, and Seattle gets all three points. That puts them right now second place in the Western Conference with forty five points. They're five points back of Saint Louis at fifty. Both teams on
thirty matches played, but a lot of teams below the Sounders. They are all on twenty nine games played, so we will see how this thing shifts as other teams catch up to the Sounders games played. But for right now, for this moment, we are celebrating a Sounders win and moving up to second place. Jackson Felts, Marcus Hannaman, Pete viewing here for the postmatch
show. Pete, appreciate you for hanging around. Let's just jump in and get initial reactions to what was my blood pressure raising over the last ten minutes or so, Marcus. But at the end of the day, we can breathe easy because it is three points. Yeah, Pete and Danny, we're talking about how it looked like the Sounders were taking the foot off the gas a little bit, and you know, the Colorado got a little bit of momentum, had a couple of set pieces and a Sounder couldn't clear the ball.
Next thing you know, you knew it was coming, and it made a very nervy last ten minutes fifteen minutes of that game, that's for sure. Yeah, I'm with you. I'm breathing a little bit easier. Here's the good news. We won. We didn't give up a second goal, right because there were a couple of balls that were played into the box corner
kicks. Fry came up with a good punch out on the first corner, Okay, and then you would know better than I and then the second one you have to go to the carpet to get the ball and holds onto it, so you kind of get confidence in inches. Sometimes that locker room is gonna say and I said this, you know throughout the game during the game. At some point they were at Dallas not too long ago, right, So you've got to you've got to manufacture energy and grit and all that kind
of stuff so to get that win. In the back of their head, I'm sure they're thinking about the Portland game where they're up to nothing, right and you could feel the crowd get into it and they get Colorado has nothing to play for right now, maybe a little bit of pride and all of that. So I'm glad they got the win. I'm breathing easier. But you're right, Marcus, we have to close games out, and you know what, you want to get a game where you get five goals. That
was a game that you could have gotten five goals. So that just brings so much more joy to everyone. Interesting that we give up the goal. Once Christian Moldon goes off the field, I thought he was a good spark for us. I thought he closed out the first half pretty good that the assist that he got was terrific, and so yeah, they now they got to the four games left. Right, they're still putting this piece, this puzzle together, but we've seen this team be able to put it together at
the right time. And once again we're in the right spot playoff wise, to your point, Jacks, when we're on thirty games, the third and fourth place are on twenty nine right, and it is tight in the top five or six of the Western Conferment. But at the end of the day at LAFC, they got a win though, that get game in hand.
And we've we've been saying for weeks and weeks and you know what it feels like, you know, three months now where LFC has all these games in hand and we're all, we keep saying, yeah, but when LAFC catches up, they're gonna jump the Sounders and they just haven't yet. And I guess you know, they played Saint Louis to a zero zero draw tonight where we're looking at the expected goals, it was like point five to point six,
kind of boring game between those two teams. So at the end of the day, I mean, lafc's got to prove it if they really are going to jump in a second place. It's been a long season. There's been a lot of stop and starting. I remember Nick Saban during the COVID time saying, well, hey, you've got to be able to handle this. You gotta be able to do the job. And so who's going to really emerge and who's going to make a really strong run in the playoffs?
And we do have we get Rui Das, We've got We've been saying this a while, Get really Das going right, get all these guys going. But they're they're close, but they've just got to be ninety minutes complete, right for sure. I want to go back to Marcus the comment you said about about how they kind of took the foot off the guests, and I'm wondering if that's a product of being up to nothing and just saying all right,
let's just lock this thing down. Defensively, No Christian rolled down on the field and they hadn't set up the back three slash back five yet it was still those four in there. Or is it a product of just the Sounders not pushing the ball forward like they had. You know, I'm kind of wondering the answer of how you can move forward in games where you are
up. Maybe it's not tune, maybe it's one nothing, and you do got to learn from a game like this and not you know, let Colorado back in, or not let a future team back in the way you let Colorado back in. Well, it's not just Colorado. You see at numerous times where the Sounders are at home and yeah, and you know, and it's not just Portland, but all season and even last year too. Right, the Sounders get up a couple of goals and then they're like, okay,
let's just keep the ball. And nothing drives me more crazy than that. But I want to go win the games, right, and especially at home, and so this is this is an away game a little bit different. Right, you're at elevation, so guys are a little bit tired. But I think at home you really have to entertain because you got to make people come back. You gotta make it fun. And when you take their foot off the gas a little bit, okay, you're resting, right,
but you're not making it as exciting. We're still trying to sell this product to our fans, and you know, away from home, it's a different thing though, Right, we're just trying to kill this game off. And then but you take that pressure off, and then all of a sudden, right, guys don't make the runs. You've got to come back, and you go from playing around your box or their box. I should say, you know, a couple good little one twos, and then you give the
ball away. You put them on a counter attack, right, and you know, I mean, I don't know. Sometimes I feel like, you know, let's just get if you got a runner in the box, hit the cross in. It just can't go to the goalie. Yeah, it's sort of like you know, putting numbers for playlight gets zero zero. But don't commit too many runners forward because if you do play like that, it's sort of it's the it's the football, you know, the line for American
football, it's you don't play. You don't play prevent defense because prevent defense will only prevent you from winning the game, right, Yeah, And so
a little bit like that. So when you look at like defensively, like if I'm a goalkeeper and my team's attacking, I make sure I've got if they have one attacker, I gotta have two of right, Right, So as the game gets, you know, like we're winning two zero, right, I still want to go attack, but all might have three back for one guy, right, and and so at that stage, so you're playing way more conservative. But my I know my forwards are going to want to
score. I know my midfield or attack midfield. But then I know my my defenders are holding that defensive midfield er back right because he's gonna want to start pushing forward. Right, And so now you have you're sending numbers forward, but you're kind of, hey, see what you guys can do up there. We're staying back here and give them a chance to score some goals.
And Colorado is now going to be pushing because they need to score, and that's they're going to be open at the you know, so you have a chance to keep that going, right, And here's what I like. We're we're in the last five games, two wins, three ties, four games of that on the road. It is funny we all are rather critical or high expectations of this club. You know, we just expect them to go and throttle somebody over and over again, and that's not how this season
is going. But all the time, every single time, we expected to score goals. I want Niko to get three assists every single game. I went Jordan Morris to get a couple of goals. But the reality is four games on the road, no losses. In the last five they went to two wins, three ties. So in England you've played in that English Premier League. Would that be a good run of five four on the road and you win two and you tie three. Yeah, it's funny. No,
it's a great win. Right. But we're talking about we can't let teams in. No, you're right, And we're talking about form in the playoffs. That's it. That's because and and you and you mentioned it, Pete. Are expectations yeah, of the Sounders, right, we are not here just to make up numbers. We are here to win. We've never been a club like Colorado, right, we never have been really except maybe at their peak when you were playing. To be honest, they we've been like
them in their their best days. But yeah, there is a high expectation for the Seattle Sounders. Yes, there is no good exactly, it is a good thing. It's a good thing. We have those expectations. Well, two two quick notes here, Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. fifty k j R. Welcome back to the post match show. Following a Sounders two to one win in Colorado, AT's ted back out to Commerce City and here's some postmatch interviews now with the Sounders goalkeeper Stephen Fry and number ten today goal scorer Albert russnacha Is. Obviously there was a lot of choice, but at some point you just kind of run on a juice little Bay. That's what I saw, just Jada Evans, thanks, thanks for taking the
tan y'all. Albert, can you talk a little bit about your goal from Christian and what he was able to have a figure with the start today? Yeah, I mean I thought it was a really good team goal, just like the first one you always started. Uh. I started with JP, you know, combination with Christian and put a really good ball and I felt like, you know, the ball could have come to three different players.
We had good numbers in a box on across the gate man and you know player players were right positions and and you know, you give yourself a chance. The more bodies you have when across is coming in, the more chance you have as a team to score, you know. And this time the ball fell to me and I headed it in. You know, another day it might be it might be Jordan, it might be player in the back
bost you know. So you know, as long as we keep getting the numbers in the box when across the coming in, we'll we'll give myself a good chance to score. Nico right now, thank you. I'm going to get you to take Albert on fishing role them starting today for the first time in a long time. Just his presence, his influence and what changes what makes things easier sometimes, whether it's the press or whether it's transition with having
a guy like Chrishan on the right side. Yeah, I think the way Christian plays that position, there is no one else on the team that that can do it the same way. And you know, we've missed Christian when when he was hurt. You know, we always try to fill that gap with with a different type of player to almost play the same role, and
you know, it hasn't worked. And it's you know, it's not because of the player that came in to play that position, but what is asked from from that position in the structure, in the way we want to play. Nobody doesn't like Christian. You also, he's he's very important for the team and you know, we're very happy to have him back and and he
helps us a lot. And you know, you could also see it a little bit today when when he came off that you know, things started to to become a bit more difficult for us, and you know, it just goes to show how important here. It's thanks guys, agatting me. If you'd like to ask a question, please use the hand raise function. Jim, We'll go to Jeff Lazo from our staff. Go ahead, Jess. Yeah, just want to kind a kind of piggyback off of that question.
What qualities do you think Christian brings onto the field that you know allows him to be that difference maker for you guys. Well, I think Chris Christians got a really good combo, especially for that position. Like the Albert mentioned. You know, he's he's strong, powerful, he's got good technique, he's got good vision, so he's got a good conboy. He's got a
little bit of everything. And also he's a bit of a dog. He's get some fight in him, you know, and that I think we at times we need players like that to kind of feed off of him too, and so it's good to have him back for that aspect, but also obviously all the other qualities. And I think today to you know, the goal,
I think he kind of is daring. He instead of you know, maybe going for a negative ball or a safe ball, he he ends up kind of weasling his way through and asking questions, finding himself in a really crossing position. And then they allowed guys to kind of get get open on the backstick, and then he puts in a dcent ball where someone can attack
him and then obviously Outbert does. So for me, it's got it's got lots of qualities, lots of qualities that kind of add up and make him who he is and make make him as important for us as said obviously, he he's showing today that he is. We'll circle back for some follow ups again. If you'd like to ask a question, please use the hand raised function Zoom. We'll go back to Jeremiah. Jeremiah, go ahead. It's been a bit since you guys have been on a you know, you look
at the big picture, that's five straight without without a loss. I know there's been some frustrating results in there, but do you start to sort of does it feel like things have turned around a little bit from you know, a month ago we were, you know, talking about things going in the wrong direction. Yeah, I think you know, it's you're never gonna have a season whereas you know, all the way through the season you're cruising and you're on top. You know, that would be, Uh, that's really
hard to do nowadays. And we're gonna go through the bunch in a season, and we definitely have gone through it. And the season is not over. You know, you mentioned we haven't lost five games, which is which is good, but we would have liked to win a couple more and in those five games, and you know, we still have four games left, and uh, you know, I always say, you don't get too high when you win and two down when you lose. And it's the same case
here. You know. The one thing I will say, it's it's great to build some momentum and into the playoffs and towards the end of the season. You know, you see it every year. The teams that finish on a high the usually the ones that make a portion of playoffs. And we're not there yet, but we're on a good way, you know. And it's performances like these on the road that you can that you can build upon.
And you know, we have another road game, but then we're coming back to Loomen Fields for two games, you know, and those those two games will be will be crucial for us. So yeah, it's at this stage of a season, I feel like it's it's one game amount of time. Marino. Go ahead, Steph. You've been in this team forever, this winning team, this team that's been at the top of everything. Does
that mentality become playoffs right now? To just drive it all the way through, try to get a home field advantage of some sort and right that onto the playoffs? It does the mentality change for this entire team? You know? How does that work. No, it can't. It never feel like I would said, you have to look at every game as an individual game. The moment you start looking at bigger pictures, you start missing the journey
and the steps that it takes to get there. And so we need to really focus on every single game and then and do the best we can in the end. If it means it puts in a good position, that great chance to start, it puts in a good position. It also along the way has given us some confidence and some good games, right, I mean, we're talking around about being undefeated in five games and being frustrated with certain results. That is a much better position, and then now giving up stupid
goals or stupid games and never taking any points. And you're frustrated too. But it's a frustration that is not a positive, if you know what I mean. When when you're when you're undefeated in five and you're frustrated with certain things, that shows that you want to raise your game. You have, you know, the standards there and we want to push it up a little bit. So we're looking at that and trying to achieve that, not for
the playoffs or for the next game. And then Kenny Kenny, have that standard there for that game, and then we'll move on to the next game. And if you can keep on doing that, we'll keep inching up buying in the right direction. Albert, thank you so much for your time that I'll conclude. All right, that's Albert Russnack and Stephen Fry and their post match press commerces. We should have Brian Schmitzer sitting down in just a moment.
But before we get to Brian, let's quickly talk about tonight's Toyota Man of the Match. And we were just talking, you know, off the air about it, Marcus, and you know the idea that I think it could be a number of different guys tonight, even non goals scores, you know, Albert russ Nakleo Chi the goal scorers. But but overall, I mean, Christian roldn was good in his sixty five minutes and his return. What are you thinking tonight, I'm not sure you know. It was.
It was a tough game everyone ever, you know, Roldan played really well. You could see how how influential he is with this team, right, you know, and you could hear Stephen Fry talking about him. It's not just a skill, you know, Bill, you know, it's the fight in him and he motivates guys, right he is. He is an absolute leader, right, and some guys are you know, are kind of you
know there to motivate, you know, yelling and stuff like that. Just by his work right, right, and what he puts into this team, you could tell that he is actually putting in that work. I mean, Leo Cho that was probably the most surprised I've been in a long time seeing him come in and blast one from thirty five with his right foot. It's a really good shot. Yeah it was sixteen, but but you know it's gonna it's gonna be a little far, gonna be a little farther, and
we're on radio so we can claim whatever it was exactly. And you know, for Leo Chi, he was one of my players to watch right him enrolled in tonight. Uh and you know it's about getting crosses in for those guys, and you know, you get the crosses in and then Morris has to make his runs. Well, finish that off here in just a moment. Actually, while they set him up, I'll tell you that we'll make a Leo Chew your local Toyoto Dealers our Project present tonight's man of the match.
We'll say it is Leo chi Here is the head coach for your Seattle Sounders, Brian Schmitzer. Following a two ton win in Colorado, Let's go down to Colorado Springs and hear from the head coach Brian. Uh. Obviously, that's that's five undefeated. Are you satisfied with the overall performance in this one? Obviously pleased with the three points for sure, Jeremiah, but not
pleased about giving up the cool you know. The ability to close out games and a better fashion is something that will probably watch the film and try and do a better job at h and the ability to put teams away at two nothing, three nothing, you know. So yeah, I would say it's kind of a mixed result. I think I'll have to watch the film for any tactical tweaks, but certainly the emotions in that locker room committed bunch of
guys. Everybody that's here on the trip committed themselves. Whether they played or not started or not, everybody was committed. And that's that's what I like. Nicomrdo all, Hey, coach, I wanted to get your take on putting read there at the end. Usually you locked the game up with we knew who wasn't just fresh legs were you're hoping to maybe have recreate some overloads
on the opposite side to kind of surprise Colorado Nico. You were there when we were talking about Chew and he being on a yellow and I didn't take him out, So NW needed to come out because game was getting a little out of hand and he might have taken a second yellow. He was close, So that was the decision there. I thought Reid game On did a really nice job. Again. I think he settled into the game and gave
us some possession. I thought he was really good day. Evans, thanks, thanks and congratually still know when I wanted to ask my Christian you know and his play. Yeah, in his play today and great, loved it, leadership everything. He was just a little winded in the second half. That was the reason for the sub. We tried to push him for as many minutes as possible just to build his fitness, but healthwise, concussion wise,
he was great. Jessicazo, Yeah, I wanted to see if you could just elaborate on that a little bit, just kind of wanted to hear your thoughts on how you think you know Christian is a difference maker whenever he's on the pitch for the team. Like there's a lot of the dirty work, things that don't usually end up on the stat sheet. Is defending. But you know, the goal that he creates for Albert was a very good
savvy soccer play. A lot of guys would across the ball early. He gets down to the end line, he waits, he hesitates, he clips the ball into the dangerous spot. So you know tonight he got on the score sheet rightly. So alrighty Thiago from territory MLS, I go ahead and take yourself off me and ask your question. Heck, coach, good, good evening. From relationships for the victory, the first goal came in a
play between Laoshu and Jean Paulo, super resilient players. Do you believe that this partnership between players from the same country, especially in this case brazilience helps on the field. I think it helps in certain moments for sure. But look, Brazilian players are very talented. I think they can play with any nationality, any any group around the world. Leo is a tremendous young talent. JP is an experienced player. They would do well in any team.
Gustava also from Territory Moles. I'll go ahead your Stava, ask your question. Coach, good evening, congrats on the win and thank you for your time. My question is, obviously you didn't have who ideas available for tonight's match, but you decided to stick with Jordan on a number nine role for the entire match, even though you had Freddy, Montero and Ever available as subs. Why did you decide to stick with Jordan doing the whole game?
Just because I think Jordan's threat to get in behind is vital for our success. He was a little gas at the end of the game. Maybe when I brought Hobby on, I should have, you know, brought a fresh legs on upfront. I can accept that, but you know, Jordan always threatens tired legs defensively, so you know, I think Jordan played extremely well. But you know, certainly Freddie and Avert have talents as well, and maybe I should look at it. All right, we'll circle back for some
fall ups again if you'd like to ask another questions. Because the hand raise function, We'll go to Jeremiah next. Jeremiah, go ahead, Yeah, Josh gotta gotta start in this one. What did you make of his performance? Good? Solid? I thought it was solid. You know, his challenge is always the angles he takes defensively. You know, when he decides to us, he needs to understand it. You know, there's good players out there that can wiggle a lot of stuff. And what is he protecting?
When can he take a risk? When can he take a risk? But you saw his you know, physicality night. He won a bunch of headers, which was critical in this game. His engines, he's got great engines. He can get up and down the field, and you know he was able to connect his passes and get us out of some jams. So I thought it was a solid performance. I see one more hand. So last call guys for any questions. But if no others, Nico will call
us out. Nicom right, I'll go ahead. I just wanted to get your your insight on on what that conversation is with the players here's this short week. Is that it's a good win on the road. You know, what was that conversation like and how do you think the team takes it? Knowing that you guys are going to play a game immediately after. I'm not
sure I'm following your shinko. You're talking about after the Dallas game those conversations or no, right now, in this midweek game after to win, what's the messaging to them and how do you feel like the group vibe is at the moment after a win on the road, knowing though that you got a big tough game here coming up. Well, the Nashville game is ways away,
so we have plenty of time to rest and recover. They wanted, they wanted three days off, but luckily Adam are stellar fitness guy said no. He had enough backbone to not go into the pressure that the players were putting on him, and he made the right decision. He stuck to his plan that he has for the team. We'll give him a couple of days off, but then the preparation has to start for another critical road game in Nashville. Thank you, thank you, all righty, thank you everybody.
I gotta bust my buddy, Nico Murray, you knows chops right there here, Nico. They don't have a game this weekend. They don't play for a week and a half until they go to Nashville. They're own September thirtieth, but yeah, it sounds like them. They're good news from head coach Brian Spencer. Hey, quick note before we take a break, and something I wanted to personally get to here in the postgame show, and I just saw what Brian was wearing and I reminded me that I needed to bring this
up. He was wearing a gold tie. Also, Stephen Fry was wearing the MLS Kick Childhood Cancer jersey. For those of you who know me, you know very connected to the whole Kick Childhood Cancer thing. I lost my nephew a couple of years ago. I'm at twelve years old, and the
Kick Childhood Cancer. What MLS does to go for on that with Brian Schmencer does the entire team working with Christina O'Connell of Kick Childhood Cancer, Scarves Fighting Cancer dot Com does amazing work raising money Seattle Children's and and just trying to find a cure. So I was throw everybody over to the annual sale that's now just now going on Scarves Fighting Cancer dot Com, where there's some really
really cool new items this year more than ever. I just ordered a pizza scarf from a Christian rolled on. But there's a whole bunch of good stuff, Stephen Fry collaborating with Glassy Baby and Jordan Morris Christian Role curating candles also and again all of this benefiting the Seattle Children's Kick Childhood Cancer Fund. Ballard FC has joined the cause this year with authentic jerseys all of you. You can go to Scarves Fighting Cancer dot com and they all benefit to kick childhood
cancer. So great to see our head coach Brian Schmenser wearing the gold tie to support, Fry wearing the jersey to support, So please, I would encourage everybody if you you know, if if not for you know, the kids, if not for the families, maybe if just for your Sounders fandom, you can get some really really cool stuff there as Scars Fighting Cancer dot com to support and help kick childhood cancer. You're listening to the Home of Sounders FC Seattle's sports Radio nine fifty k JR. No, we didn't get taken care of business in the previous segment. We had to get to the postgame press conferences there, so we enjoy it right now as the Sounders took
care of business tonight. In I'll say this right this time, Commerce City, Colorado, it's not Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Colorado, Dick Sporting Gains Park, where your Sounders beat the Rapids two to one tonight. And it's time for Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match. We're gonna go to the second goal. Technically, the game winning goal is assisted by Christian rolled On headed by Albert Russnach JP skipped down the right hand side, places the
bolts Christian roldn Pressia from pre so on. Christian roll Dont gets towards the inland in the box, clips it back. There's a hander. It's a wonderful goal and it's a ball by Roll done. And it's a great header by Russneck who gets into the six yot Bocks, finds a pocket of space and powers ahead of path Ilitch in the Colorado goal. Well, how about that it's worth timing worked out Roll right there. The Play of the match
is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Welcome back in to the post match show, Jackson Felts and Marcus Hannaman. Marcus I felt it was fitting and you mentioned it off the air as well, that Leo Chu gets the Toileta man of the match and then the second goal, the team goal with the other two guys is the play of the match, and it was really good goal there. Yeah, I mean we're struggling to figure out like who like, you know, there wasn't like an out
and out man of the match today. I mean, I thought the team played pretty well up to the eightieth minute, you know, and then it was like just kind of taking their foot off the gas and you know, maybe it was a sixtieth minute or whatever, but it was you know, they first for you know, two thirds of the game was perfect and then you know, you could tell we talked about it, those tired legs coming in, We talked about being two goals up, all the things we talked
about in the pregame, and you're like, and you needed it, you know, and you know she was talking about, you know, it wasn't perfect today, but you know something they can you know, look at some film and try to figure out and because the playoffs, you know, Fry talked about you know, looking at you know, game by game and just leading into the next game. But ultimately, you know, and you know, as fans that we are now, you know, we have high expectations
and we're looking forward to the playoffs. Because as you think about a game like this today, and you even look at a game like Portland a couple of weeks ago, where it was two two, right, and you're leading by two goals, and in a game like this where Colorad will almost kind of just lulled you to sleep and then suddenly they went from zero mile per hour to sixty mile per hour and it's like, oh, wait a sa and this team is playing right now, They get back in the game,
they get a goal, and suddenly it feels like they're going to get a point out of this home And in a game like this, when you're kind of reflecting on it, I think you kind of mentioned there, but to expand on that, the element where then you go into a film session in a couple of days off of this game, and there is a lot you can learn from it, and a lot you can take from a game where
you still won. So it's maybe easier to swallow than if Colorado had scored a second goal, or I should say if Colorado hadn't scored a goal, and it's they just did nothing the entire game, and it was too nothing and there's really not much to look at because it was a practice session. Now you actually have something you can really learn from in this game, right
yeah, and way easier to take criticism. And as professional athletes, right, we are very emotional and you know, our self confidence is everything, and especially for goalkeepers. And you know, when you can look at a mistake that you've made and still won the game, it's way easier to take. You can kind of laugh about it a little bit, and you know,
like, yeah, I need to do better here. And you know, when you lose a game, you know, especially a big game, and get trounced, all of a sudden any criticism, everyone becomes really defensive
and no one learns anything from it. And and so these games are one of those things I think, you know, you could take a lot of positives from, you know, especially our record over the last five games, but also you know, leading up to the next game, you know, how how can the Sounders move on from here and not let teams back?

Rudiez had to stay back in Seattle due to hamstrings tightness. B Nicholas Letos played a lot in a long game against Dallas just a few days ago, so you were kind of restricted in terms of that front. But just looking at the quality on the field, I'm wondering. And Josh Atencia was in there as well, so that you know, oh, Bed and
him can can go back and forth there. But I am wondering. And there's this interesting discussion point of if the Seattle Sounders have found their best lineup where you can stretch a few with Jordan Morris, you have the balance on the wings with Chew and rolled on, you have Albert at the ten, you have JP in the defensive midfield who's next to him as a big question mark and then we know the back flour that's easy has. Yes, it was only a two to one win, but it felt very dominating in the
first forty five minutes. Marcus has Brian sort of now found what might be his best eleven. I think, I think so, you know, you're obviously getting closer, but you know, it's a really good performance from the team. And Peat goes, oh, it's kind of a boring, you know, first half, and I'm like, well, you know, good, yeah, away from home. You know, the Sounders it's not up
to the Sounders to make it exciting, you know, That's it. Games at Century Link are supposed to be exciting, right, you know when they come home, right, they're home fans, like, we want to be attacking all the time because we need to get our fans here away from home, right, you know, we need to take the get the momentum away from the other team and make it kind of boring. And the Sounders did that fantastically today and able to score some goals. They had created some really
good chances in the first half as well. Rusnak had that attempt at volley I mean, that would have been goal of the century had he hit it and he had a little bit more time. But you know, it's a great run through great ball and he's tried to smash it with his laces. As the keeper is kind of a no man's land, and you know, as a keeper you have to kind of come out because if you don't. Rusnak takes a touch now to one on once, you've got to kind of
put a little bit of pressure on. But you know, I mean that would have you know, we were all like offering saw coming in and but you know it's a really good professional performance except for the last little bit of the game and Christian Roldonald was off the field, so you know, it's interesting. We'll see how Brian moves forward towards the Nashville game in a week
and a half. We'll look ahead to that in our postmatch show. Following a two to one Soundersman in Colorado, we'll wrap up a postmatch show cone up next Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM Thinning hair is normal, but it doesn't have to be your fate. You're listening to the Home of Sounders fc CL's Sports Radio nine fifty k J last segment of the post match show following the Sounders two to one win in Colorado. Some wild games going on in the rest of MLS tonight that directly affect the Sounders in terms of their standings. Houston with a big four to one win over the
Vancouver Whitecaps. Nashville beats Sporting Kansas City three nothing. You had FC Dallas getting a three to one win over Salt Lake. Interestingly, Saint Louis City at the top of the West and LAFC who were who were in second. Now in third, they played into a zero zero draw. Currently in the eighty first minute, La Galaxy and Minnister United are tied three three. That was a game Minnesota led three one, they got a red card, and
now the Galaxy of equalise that at three to three. So that affects in terms of the bottom of the playoff run right now, is Minnesota have fallen
or have fallen in terms of the points from three to one. Pearland Timber is currently leading the San Jose Earthquakes two to one, so that keeps San Jose down, which is good for the Sounders because if you look at the way the table shakes out right now, MLS playoffs come time, Sounders really just want a top four seed to at least have one home playoff game. You don't want to have to travel for the whole thing. So we'll see how this thing shakes out. But the two to one win tonight over the
Rapids at the moment put Seattle into second place. Well in terms of what's coming up next, Sounders will stay on the road, but they don't have to go on the road again for another about a week and a half. They have to go to Nashville, Nashville sc coming up on Saturday, September
thirty. It's going to be a five o'clock pre match five thirty kickoff from Geodas Park in Nashville, Tennessee. You can watch the match five MLS Season pass on the Apple TVM or listen right here Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM or l A thirteen sixty Spanish language with the Providence Swedish prematch show beginning at five pm there on September thirtieth, and I will quickly update the LA Galaxy have just scored again. They were down three to one and now they're up
four to three. How about that? So that certainly changes things in the Western Conference even more, just getting tighter and tighter and tighter. What a wild Western conference we have this year. But Marcus, we to continue the conversation we were just having and wrap up the post match show. You know, assuming that rawl Ruidiaz is healthy obviously week and a half off, Nicholas
Ladero is going to be at full strength. Do you run out this same lineup Ish, maybe you switch a tencio for somebody, or do you make big bold changes to get Ladero and Ruidiaz back in the lineup, specifically coming off this win. How closely to this lineup do we see in a week and a half. I have no idea. Well, I I mean, if you're, if you're, if you were head coach Brian Schmitzer, I put our best players out on the field. So Ruy dis Morris, right,
Okay? Is Rudy Is RUDYAZ the best option at forward right now? Is? There is the interesting question, Well, you asked me what I would do? Yeah, exactly, Yeah. I put him him and Morris in a four four two. Oh yeah, hello, I'm going old school. You're he didn't ask what Schmetz is gonna do? You ask me what I want? I love it? Yeah, so okay, so let's see. This is fun, right because every every kid growing up, all of these guys have spent a long time in their careers playing in a four four
two. I love a four four two because I'm a giant fan of Sink because you know, he was the original sounder coach. But ultimately, the way of four four two could function with Morris and RUDYAZ playing off of each other, and then you still can get Chew on the field. You still can get Christian on the field. You can stack in midfield with Albert and I guess JP. That could function really well. Yeah, and then you got your back four right, and then you got Ladero come off the bench
if you you know, or or rus Nack however you want to. I think JP is probably in that holding midfield role. I think he stays there. And then you could got Rolled down on the right, Leo two on the on the left, and then you still got a bear off the bench, Freddie up front right. Then you got a Tensio coming off the bench in the midfield yea, and Ladero and O bed off the off the bench as well. Yeah, so you got three midfield off the bench, and
then the back four. You know, you got Ariega so and the way that Roll and Jordan a theoretically could play off of each other if they're at the top of that would be very strong in terms of just one with speed, one who likes to sit back a little more, one who can stretch the field, you know. I mean, I don't know if Brian would ever think about doing that. Probably not, But that's that's a wild concept that would then throw a total wrinkle in to other teams as they try to
prepare for the sounders come playoff time. Yeah, I mean, but that's I mean, I think you put your best players on the field right, right, and then the formation figure it out from there. Yeah, And like I mean, and it's not gonna like you know, four four two it you know, usually have one kind of holding and one not right,
and then have one like, hey, you gotta keep one guy. So the great thing about four four two is you make one guy stretched stretch the field at all times, right, one guy can double down and when you don't, right, we saw that tonight Morris he comes back to help in the midfield, and then we get caught on we got we go on the break and Morris isn't there and we had to slow it down. And that would have been a great opportunity if you're playing in a four four two,
Das comes on, Morris stays up. Yeah, and then or vice versa doesn't matter, right, and then all of a sudden, now you're now you're through on the break. And that's how you're that's how you become a threat on a counter attack is you have to have that one guy up there who's willing to run into channels, right, and who's fast enough to run
into channels. And that's one thing that I trustrated me about role is we just need that extra gear and he can't drops if if we're playing a four two three one, role can't drop all the way back because then you're not working with a forward and there's nobody up there to transition to. Yeah, and it's a it's a catch twenty two because you want to defend with eleven right right. You don't want him just staying up there by himself all the
time. So but you know, sometimes when you're when you want to play that kind of counterattack style sometimes, especially away from home, it works great is then you can catch teams on the break, especially when you're up a goal. Will you've sold me, hopeful, Brian Schmitzer. If you're listening, Lena, listen to Marcus. That's a fun idea there. But we'll see what happens in a week and a half down in Nashville, Tennessee.
