Sunders FC FoST Match Show Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC FoST Match Show starts. Now, what's a win? What a match? The win the

Sounders need the first and quite a while, what's a game? And for the Seattle Sounders now going up with a big three points in Austin, Texas, this road win the winner from Albert russ Snack, which will hear in just a moment for your Sounders. That is about as big of a road win as you're gonna get a team that is have a three match FLIX up suddenly playing. Thank you Mitchell uh much? Would you say this was your first game? I think I think it might be. Yeah, we'll get

that going here in just a moment. That needs to actually be down and off before you do that. Okay, thank you so for the Sounders. For the Sounders, what this means is a great chance to be able to come home coming off of a big win there against Austin. You also got a point earlier the week against Minnesota United, so four points overall. And for the Sounders, it's Albert Russnott getting the goal in the ninetieth bull at his feet whips it in along that six shot box flicks up strip by focus

on russneck that is in the back of the nets. The Sounders have found the goal to put them up here in Austin, Texas. And what an important goal that is for this club. And it's a two to one win. They're a great call from Danny Jackson and Sounder is now coming home to face Pearl and Timbers on Saturday with a big four points there on the road. Jackson felt and Pete Hearing here for the post match show. We're on the rails. We're back on the rails here. It's been a less five

minutes. Have been a lot of fun basically, you know, since Danny and Pete signed off, I've been jumping around using a lot of words I can't use on the air. It's been a very fun time. So naturally things are a little bit hectic here to start the post match show, Pete, we're back on the rails and I've sort of begun to breathe again.

How amazing was that? Well, it felt like days of old, which we haven't had for a while, right, It was a it was a good performance, it was a calculated performance, it was a team performance. They got what they needed. At the end. You're going against a team that frankly has given up too many goals this season, that is a little bit down on their luck, and you have to take advantage of that.

It's to go and get that on the on the road. And now the possibility of a seven point week, uhcumulating with the game with the Portland Timbers is terrific. So it's a great thing for the Seattle Sounders, it's a great thing for the fans and it and it really heightens a game that you know, this the game where Vargas gets the assist, we go up one nothing, we're at Portland, we think we're on our way, and then bang bang bang bang bang four goals. And I mean that was that was

unlike any twenty minutes of my entire life. Well it was, yeah, because we're on our way and then all of a sudden we are on our way leaving man. Yeah, and that was a tough one. And then back here in Seattle, zero zero draw, right h am, I right on that all right? Yeah, And that was one that Seattle wanted, uh, to sort of make up so so now and now Seattle in in third place, it's all to play for. They've been the theme around the

team, around the players. They saw what they did early in the Monterey game. They want to get back to that. But now they're back in a position, and let's hope we get Christian mold On back. You know, when he's on the field in twelve games, there's only one loss. If you can bring him back into it, yeah, I mean that'll be a tough situation. Yeah, and uh, and we'll see, you know, we'll get an update from head coach Brian Spencer in just a little bit.

We're gonna hope to get Brian Spencer's postgame press conference here in just a little bit as well, so I will stay tuned regarding that. But for the Sounders, yeah, I mean it's it's a big chance. Let's let's start to talk about this match here for the Sounders today because two to one overall, and and Pete, I think one of the things we can talk about when it comes to this match is how the Sounders both started it in terms of their lineup and then also in terms of how they made those changes.

So overall, when we talked about the strategy and pregame for what Spencer was looking to do. How do you evaluate how he has built this team out for both the first forty five and the last forty five. Well, I love the trust that he puts in Baker Whiting and josh A Tensio and for them to end double air, for those guys to come on the field. You know, he just he gives these young players an opportunity, puts him in a position where you know you're it's an important game. Momentum is

very important for this team at this time. To put Ariaga on the field, he really pulled the right strings. And hey, we did not use Raoul Ruidias. I think that it was a good move to put Abear on the field. We're gonna have a very fresh Raoul Ruidias. He rises to the occasion has in the past. He's gonna look at the Portland game as a chance for him to be fresh and to come in and make a big

difference. That's absolutely right. Same with Gomez and Drawdi by the way, and that's and that's a great point to talk about how this match got was doubt and once again, if you're just joining us postgame show of the Sounders two to one win down there in Austin. Goes from Jordan Morris in the forty eighth minute and then Albert Russnack in the ninetieth minutes, and the way that Brian Schmitzer made these substitutions. Pete, and you mentioned Yamar Gomezandratti right

there, because I think that's an important one. He comes on there in the eighty fourth minute of at the time a one one game, and the thought there is, all right, we're building a back three slash back five to pretty much just say we're creating a wall. Good luck, you know, getting past this and settling and saying we're fine going one one. Then you get the cold to co up two one and you have that wall already

built. I mean, Gomezenrat, it's a it's a it's a luxury when you can bring on a guy who just got done scoring two goals in the previous game, one for the wrong team. But like you know, that's a really nice set up when you can build that back five and still be on the offensive end and end up getting a goal. Well, he knows the drill too, right, He know he can handle the assignment of keeping it at once, and Rusnack knows the assignment two of going in and having

to be a spark. You could, there's there's times when you feel like players are going to come in and rise to the occasion. Roos next goal was excellent, right it went through. It went behind one player and in front of another player to find its way to the back of the net. But to your point, with Gomez and Trotty, he had about three or four headers that were very important, and the shape of the team, the defensive wall in front of the goal with him in there, became pretty difficult

for Austin to get anything out of it. So as we see this now, Seattle is on forty points through twenty seven games. Saint Louis looks like they're gonna get to win, so they are right now. We're at forty seven points through twenty six games. So Saint Louis right now the top of the conference. LAFC also at forty points, but they did forty in two

less games than Seattle, so that's that situation. But Seattle really kind of now, you know, formidable and holding strong with that third position there in the Western Conference, there's a lot to get to here tonight on the post match show, We're gonna take a break. We're gonna hopefully here from head coach Brian Spencer in just a few moments. We're gonna have our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match. That's gonna be one. We have to figure

out Toyota Man of the Match. Also have to figure that out. Lots to get to here. We're gonna pretty poland coming up on Saturday. This is gonna be an hour long post match show. Now about forty five minutes left here, A lot to get to here. Exciting two to one win for the Sounders down in Austin, Texas. A lot more talk about that hedge coach Brian Spencer coming up next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR. AM, you're listening to the home of Sounders FC, Seattle's Sports Radio nine fifty

KJR. Welcome back to the post match show. Sounders with a two to one win tonight down in Austin, Texas over Austin FC. We're gonna hear from head coach Brian Spencer in just a few minutes. But for the Sounders, the win that this club needed to be riding high into a match against the Pearland Timbers on Saturday. Lots to talk about here about the two to one one game, lots to look ahead to with Poland coming up, But

it is time for our Emeralds Queen Casino Play of the Match. You could go one of the two goals, but personally I'm gonna be looking at our Toyota Man of the Match tonight with this epic moment in the first half, too easy to zad at the top of the books, tries to find it. Great save comes to RAGONI good double save again by Stephen Fry and eventually clid by JP who comes down and hooks it away for a throwing. The Play of the match is presented by emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of

the Northwest. Yes, and I'm gonna do that, Pete in because we have to talk about this man Toyota. Tonight's Toyota Man of the Match is Stephen Fry. Your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match. This was a vintage game from Stephen Fry, Pete viewing. He was on his head all night making massive save after massive save. That double save was just one of the many moments he was fantastic. Yeah, it was vintagea exactly correct. He He had a couple where he punched out.

He had a couple where he slapped it down with a big, strong paw and pushed it away from the goal, you know, out of danger. It's all goalkeepers need to parry things away from oncoming opponents. And then he held onto balls in some really tight spaces. There was one Jazzy's artist was right on top of him and he collected it, held onto it good and tight, and then he and then he did a good job leading Jackson. There was times where he's like no, no, no, get up,

get up, we got to get away from our goal. He killed a little bit of the clock. You know, the guys play in front of him. Everybody wants to play for step and Fry. If you're a defender, you know it's unfortunate on the goal, but you cannot blame him at all. And frankly, he made a skate save to kick it out.

Unfortunately it was just inside the line when it when it went in. But I thought Fry had a tremendous game, professional game, and he was big, you know, Allison at Liverpool made a big save this weekend and it was the same kind of thing where you know, it just keeps your team in the game. And you know it's funnyment goals change momentum. That sounds very obvious, but if you can stay in the game on the road and your goalkeepers making saves, he gets more confident, You get more confident,

your opponent gets more discouraged. So yeah, it's the right pick. I think he's definitely a man of the match for me. Yeah, he was huge. You know, we wouldn't be doing our due diligence talking about this two to one win for the Sounders without going over these goals. And I guess we'll eat the vegetables first. You know on that goal that that the Sounders gave up Drewisi at the back post there, and it was it was really kind of what that came down to me. Let me see if your

coach's eyes saw the same thing. Was it was an attempted clearance that they you know, I think it was a Tensio just didn't get a full head on the ball and it ends up going to the back post. If a tensio gets an inch more of his head on that ball, then it's cleared away a totally different way. Yeah. Well it's similar to the Sounder school, and that Nico Ldaro puts it in a dangerous spot. That ball was put into a dangerous spot, and you got bodies clashing into each other.

Everybody's trying to just get a little flick. You know, they don't necessarily have a great angle. So can you flick it to the it's by design? Can you flick it to the back post? Or can it's skim off one of the Sounders heads? And that's exactly what happened. Yeah, And so you know, Josh Wolf, the Austin coach, has to be happy that that one worked. And then you got the right the right guy getting his eight goal, eighth goal of the season at the back post. So

was he left open too much of the back post? Yeah he was. But you know you go to the ball. When a ball gets played in the near post, it sucks everyone toward the ball because it's also coming toward the goal, just like Nikos, right, So you got to make sure that you might have to leave your guy to make sure that you might be the one clearing it off the line on the flick so good execution from them, just like Sounders goal was also, I'll say great execution on both days.

Yeah, Nikos, I love Nikos in that. When I was watching his approach, yeah yeah. On his approach, you could tell he was going as he stepped to it, his body shape, he started to wrap his foot around the ball. We've seen him in past years try to beast and he's been successful scoring goals on corner kicks. In his younger days with the Seattle Sounders, he'd catch the goalkeeper napping. There was a couple times

where he'd hit it to the near post intentionally to score the goal. And this one you could tell that I think he saw Stever a little bit looking for the cross and a little bit off his near post, and then Jordan Morris give him a ton of credit. Wow, that was a great finish. Happy Jordan, Yeah gets there is strong, gets in front of Jazzy's artists, two big bodies, and then he gets wasn't a little flick.

He got good contact on the ball and smashed it right off service chest and into the back of the net, so that the Sounders going forty eighth and you talk about power, it's a great transition to talking about the power on Albert russnack shot in the ninetieth nit where it's a great build up, ball kind of bounces around in the box, comes out to Albert, who hits it with about as much power as we've seen him ever hit a ball here

in Seattle where he just gets a leg behind it and just nobody's gonna stop that until it hits the back of the net. No, and Vargas give him credit too, because he gets the first shot off right and it gets blocked. And then Roostneck shows his experience and his quality, because you're right, he did smack it, and he smashed it and then but he kept it on frame. It's very very easy to send those up into the cheap seats behind the goal. So he did really well to just take that split

second a composure to make sure he kept it on frame. And then, you know, Danny Jackson talked about, you know, you could create your luck. It kind of it went behind a couple of legs and then went in front of a couple of legs and just like Jordan Morris on Steubar, you know you mentioned it at halftime, Stubar got the back of his heel. That was that was, you know, maybe a half an inch to three quarters of an inch away from going through the legs and into the back

of the net. This one with Albert Rusnick, we had a little bit of luck and it found its way. Jordan Morris's tenth goal of the year. Nicholas Ladero's tenth assist of the year. That's also Nicholas Ladero's ninety fourth career assist across all competitions with the Sounders. The ninety four is impressive enough. Wait for this part. That's forty two more than the next highest Sounder of all time. I tweeted it, I've treated rave Green goat Nicholas Lade

arrow sensational ninety four career assists. I think it's an easy bet that he'll hit a hundred of before this season's over. At this point with coming with all the playoff games and whatnot, as your Sounders have risen to third place in the Western Conference or they stayed in third place in the Western Conference forty points on the season. After a two to one win tonight against Austin Well, Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish Official Healthcare partner of Sounders

FC. We'll take a break, come back and hear from head coach Brian Spencer. That's next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR. AM, you're listening to the home of Sounders FC, CL's Sports Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back to the post match show. After a Sounders two to one win down in Austin, Texas over Austin FC. They've risen with the three points to

now forty overall. We're gonna be hearing from head coach Brian Schmencer. In just a matter of seconds, I'll tell you that Delta Airlines is producted on one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season the Ray Foundations one Mile one Ball program. We're gonna talk about the match ahead for the Portland Timbers come into town this coming Saturday. We'll talk about that with Pete Fewing. In just a couple of minutes, my buddy Steven Age Radio

Cascadie and I where we're talking And you'll laugh at this, Pete. The fact that you know Giovanni Savarees, a former head coach of the Timbers, just recently got fired. How funny would it be? I mean the Sounders, you know, took Freddy Waas from Rayal saw Lake. I mean, I wouldn't put it past the team to back up the brink struck as as Steven said. And hey, Giovanni Savareza, you want to be a special assistant for one week. So no the joking aside. I mean Portland Timbers

are going through a difficult situation right now after losing their head coach. Right now, they're they're not doing too well on the season. I believe they're actually playing right now. We can get an update on their game later. But Portland Timbers coming to Seattle this coming Saturday. We'll get details on the

match. We'll look ahead here in a little bit. We're expecting head coach Brian Schmiser would be stepping to the podium in just a matter of seconds, so we'll get to that when he steps up and in Pete few and we expect that a very happy coach Brian Spencer is about to be speaking. Yeah, I would say so, I'm just thinking about him. It's when you lose, it's very very difficult. When you win, and you win like this today, you have to be pleased and you can kind of look around

the locker room. He'll give credit to the players, no question about that. Ben. He'll lift a lot of the players up and give a lot of kudos to Fry and everybody who played, and he'll say it's a team win, no question. Uh. He is going to be happy about that. And now they can turn their attention to the Portland Timbers. And I think that's the big thing. If you don't get it done here, you know, a tie would have been okay, but it wouldn't have been quite

the same because you had the lead. But to come in and then fight back again and get back on top, they're gonna feel good about it. They're gonna want to get home and take care of their bodies and now they can. It's a it's a game that they always get excited for and then get excited because they have some confidence as well. But you're right, tough one, Savoracy being let go is a tough day for the Timbers. Well, Brian Spencer looks like he's sitting down right now. Well, he has

a big smile on his face. Will's head down to Austin, Texas and here for the Sounders head coach. Following tonight's two to one win down there against Austin FC. Right, sounds good, Jeremiah, you were first, so I'll let you let you have at it. And Brian uh and was this win particularly satisfying, just not just because of how long it's been, but in the in the way that it came about. Well, you know, even with the best fellow results, Jeremiah, you have to understand that

this team doesn't quit. It's just not within the Sounders DNA to quit in games. And so when Austin went down or went down the field and scored on a corner kick, actually, thank you guys in the media. You guys should watch the foul on Ethan double air prior to that play, clear foul, clear yellow card. You know, on the opposite end that they come down the field and they score off the corner kick, which you know is a little disturbing because they're giving us some set piece goals. But you

know that's something that we can fix. We're a little you know, jumbled because we had you know, different guys come in and subs, but the team never quits. The goal sequence, the goal sequence, the the you know application of Nico, you know, winning the ball through extra effort, the no panic, the play the ball that Jackson splits open, the team will Beds turn going the other way. Albert's finish, I knew who's patients. There were a lot of positives on that final goal as far as good

soccer is concerned. But answering your question, I'm not surprised that you know we're gonna win some of these games because the team never quits. Okay, next question, we'll over to jadav Jay. Go ahead, please, thanks congratulations Brian on the when I wanted to ask about Nico, he was a key factor in this and and when you talk about never quit, he seems to be one of Obviously he's one of those players that who doesn't quit.

So him playing ninety minutes today, can you kind of assess his play his performance to another very good performance. Look, there's a lot of chatter, there's been news articles written about the team and Nico, and you know what's going to happen the players age out, players, you know, having their

carew cators come to an end. But what I will say about Nico Ladero is you cannot even as he gets a little older and maybe guys are catching him, you cannot fault his effort in his desire to win, his ability to sacrifice things, his ability to lead bikes ample in in big moments. And so today when we needed help, you know, I elected to take It seems like some connection issues there for head and move Nikola Darrow. Why are you putting Niko out on left point? But Bryan, it sounds like

there are some connection issues there for head coach Brian Schmitzer. So when we see him getting back and speaking and we see the zoom moving, we'll get back down there. But uh, and it looks like it has a resumed. So here's head coach Brian Spencer again, following a two to one win tonight against Austin FC. All the way, but Niko was very very very good. Thanks. He got the first half of the schnetz before the h the feet kind of collect blame Mattie's sitting right over there. I'll blame matt

No, no problem, we got we got the gist. I think next question we'll go over to Nico Marino NiCoT please, Brian, I mean, it isn't easy to stick to what you're doing, to your guns, to your tactics. Our rewarding is it that you were able to do so much good with the same tactics with a rotating squad in an away game in this particular moment, Well, it all comes down to the coaches. Coaches have

been, you know, very good about implementing a system. But what we've done over the last month is we've made sure that the entire team understands the system and the principles of play. Normally, coaches would just work with a team that's starting on a Saturday, but we've actually made sure that the second team, where the team that's not going to play, is involved in the exact same tactical exercises during training as the team that started And I think you

saw that manifest itself in read in Ethan, in josh Uh. They all had really tremendous performances. Hobby looked like he didn't miss a beach. There were plenty of goods, and again it's credit to the coaching staff. Next question over to Felipa. Mikaela. Felipe, go ahead and ask your questions please, Thank you, alex Uh. Coach Brian st. Pizza, do

you mind asking an English please? We don't have transmitions. Yeah, Coach branc this is not the first time they you start a game, you seeing younger players and speak on the road, Uh, what can you tell me about that? Prior to a very important game against Portland. H Look, if you're referencing the game game a couple of years ago when we played five teenagers, what I would say is that Josh at Tencio was part of that. Read Baker Whiting is part of that. Ethan double or was part of

that came on game was part of that. We're going to bounce out of Brian Schmitzer's press conference there. It looks like there's just some continued connectivity issues. But you know, Pete, to continue that part of the conversation that I think Brian's talking about there and the question about the young kids, the fact that so many of those guys that picked up that fantastic win in Austin, you know these you know five teenagers setting an MLS record a couple of

years ago. They're the ones who you know, was we're key players tonight in helping get this two to one win. And you can certainly probably guess that the confidence from that game two years ago factored into tonight's win, no question. Yeah, it's fun, it's I'm sure those three guys are walking out of the locker room saying, hey, let's play in Austin every week.

This is a good place for us to play, you know, And you talked, We talked before the game, you and I about that side, the right side of the field, Baker, widing Ethan Doublair, and that they've got to be a team together, and that Chew and Morris had to be a team together, right, those three guys that got it done. That, I'm sure one of them is gonna say, hey, we're

two and oh when we start against Austin. And if they've got a little bit of gumps them to them, they might and a little bit of humor, they might go to coach Metzer and say, hey, by the way, you know, for those of you keeping track at home, we are two and oh when we play Austin, and coach will love that. So, yeah, that's I loved you know. I knew Brian would say that

this team never quits because he always gives it back to the players. He gave some nice credit to his assistant coaches for making sure that everybody's on the same page, and then he gave a great compliment about Nico Ladero and Nico will hear that and that will help build Nico up before or the Portland game. He did he say anything that was inaccurate, now not. He was very accurate right about his leadership, about his uh competitive spirit, about his

quality. Right. So I'm not I'm not surprised by any of the things that Brian has said today. He's always been that consistent coach. He loves coach Carol by the way, Pete Carroll Seahawks, and he says he's always watched a lot of his comments. Really when he when Brian Schmittzer is talking to the media, he's really talking to the players and the fans of course. But but he's that was a good win and he gave credit where credit

was due. And and I think it's true, you know, the fact that uh Ariaga for him to come in, for Hobby to be dialed in, for Hobby to pick up where he was a couple of years ago and play with a kind of confidence of a starter. Yeah, it was a great thing. And that's culture, right. It would be very easy for Ariaga to be pouting all season to say he's getting a you know, an unfair deal that he's better than Reagan, you know, and all that kind

kind of stuff. You've never seen any of it. You've never at practice. When he walks out, he's he's ready to go and ready to do his job. And and you've got to you've gotta answer the bell when you're called, right, And so that was a good that was a great win for Seattle coming into the Portland game. Question, there's so many points of

that that I want to continue discussing. The first point I want to hit is the topic about Nicholas Ladero. And there is a portion of the fans that and everybody is right to believe, and you know, be fans the way that they be fans. Everybody has a right to do. So there's a lot of portion that say, you play the kids, and you know,

it's it's it's time to Nicholas Ladero and roll away. He has to be super subs And you know, I think there is a little bit of validity to that, you know, in certain moments, but then you see moments where Nicholas Ladero scores that free kick against Monterey, you know, and and helps the Sounders get out to a tune nothing lead and really was a big part of looking fantastic for the first thirty minutes of that game against Monterey.

You look at tonight the assist on the Morris goal, and and he was really good tonight, and it makes you know, I would hope the people who who say, you know, play the kids, it's time to make these guys, you know, you know, start on the bench listening. As long as Nicholas Ladero is playing the way he's playing, I don't know that, especially the fact that you know, he is a huge leader on this team who's been here forever. I know that, you know.

That's part of also the debate of saying, you know, just because you've done X, Y Z over the last number of years, that doesn't entitle you to a starting spot. I kind of feel like in Nicholas Ladero's case, it does, considering what he can still do for this team. Well, yes, ten Assis, right, yeah, and ten Assis, your stat about him being forty two more assist than any other, uh than second place, it's pretty impressive. The free kick, you're right, was a

reminder. The assist today. I could just tell by his approach that he was going to goal. Yeah, and and by the way he was going to goal. But Jordan Morris knew he was going to goal. So that was by design. That was not a hey you kick at all react. It was on this re kick. If if Stupar's cheating a little bit, I'm gonna go to the near post and you make sure you're there as well. So yeah, and he is. He's been captain of this team for a long time. And and he's raised uh holy cow, right, he's

raised a Champions League Cup, He's raised two mlsque cups. You can go to He's supporters shield right uh. And and so Brian has stuck with him Valdez Brian's first year when he took over, when they won, Brian stuck with Valdez. Nelson Valdez, Well, it worked out pretty great. And and and they cut him right after the season's over. Ruthless sometimes, but but yeah, I just think that Nico Ladero really showed some great quality to day. He almost had a second assistant. Uh. And and so that's

a good one. We need him on the field to be performing. Uh. The young guys. I get those texts too. I get some buddies I played with and and they want to see the young guys. And you say, well, Nico's better, so you have to you have to weigh that up. And there was a saying around here a while ago, a few years ago, that we're built for this right and we're built for it right now. And so right now Nico gives us. And he played within himself today. By the way, he was not all over the court.

Point he wasn't on the left hand side, he wasn't on the right hand side, he wasn't running into Chew. He stayed in the areas the pockets that he needed to be on. So it was a good game. I love the fact that we didn't use Ruey Das in this Let's let's I'm gonna stop you right there because I want to come back. Our broadcast director Keeley brought up a really good point about Rawle and I think you're going down that

road, so let's stop right there. And there's an interesting conversation about Rawle as we look ahead to the Poorland Timbers coming to town on Saturday. If you're just joining us the Sounders FC postmatch show following a two to one win tonight down in Austin, Texas. More coming up next on Sports Radio and nine fifty kjr AM. Following a two to one win tonight down in Austin, Texas, Sounders beating Austin and now all time against Auson they're three one and two, the lone loss coming earlier this year at lumin Field, and then another big win tonight down there in Austin Texas goals from Jordan Morris and the forty eighth minute on an assist from Nicholas Ladero his ninety fourth in Rave Green and then Albert Russnach slamming home the winner in the ninetieth minute and a about ten minutes of defense

in the added time as an eight we're added that turned into ten and a great job by the Sounders defensively to keep it locked down and get the two to one win. Jackson, Felts and Pete viewing here on the post match show, and Pete before we look ahead to Portland. I guess this is part of the looking ahead to Portland. So with this Sounders Portland Timbers. and pete. As we begin kind of looking ahead in depth to this match, I think our broadcast director here Keiley, brought up a great point, which is that rawl Rudyez didn't play at all tonight in the two to one win at Austin. How motivated is he going to be going into Saturday's big match, assuming he's going to be starting at striker. I think he's going to be very motivated, But I don't know that we can assume that. Wonder if you know Jordan Morris gets to play up front, he gets the

goal, what does coach do? Sometimes you say, hey, he got it done, which is more fire, more wood on the fire for Ruy Diaz, the bonfire there you go. So I would as I would think he would start. I don't think you go double air. You're gonna put your your top eleven that you feel And I think that's Morris maybe on the right and then and then Ruy Diaz up front. I know that's what it

is. Uh So I think that's what's going to be the case. But I think I think of Nico Ladero and Raoul Ruidias as sort of a package, and I can see Nicos saying, come on, we need you. Everybody knows what you can do. Let's get it done. And it's kind of a you know, he it's a big stage for Raoul and he will come and rested. Danny Jackson talked about the weather down there, you know, makes your body feel better. When you don't play and you're in that

warm climate, you feel good. Right, So hopefully he got the rest that he needs, uh and and will come out guns a blazing against a team right now that's a little bit rudderless because their head coach is no longer with him, right, that's exactly right. They fired head coach Giovanni Savarey's they just last week. And you know, as we look at scores in MLS all when we look at the Pearl and Timbers are currently leading Real Saw Lake at home by a score of one nothing, so if they win,

they would be riding high just like the Sounders. Quickly with some other scores before we continue on Portland, San Jose leading La Galaxy two to one. Houston getting a two to nothing win against Columbus at home. That's big for Houston to rise up to fourth place in the conference. Vancouver getting a one nothing win over Chicago. That's good for their playoff hopes. Saint Louis beating Dallas two to one, that's big for them as they continue to forty seven

points now topping the Western Conference. Minnesota beating Colorado three nothing. They're now back in the playoff picture as they jump Austin. Austin now on the outside looking in. Also Toronto beating Philadelphia, Cincinnati beating Atlanta, New York City meeting Montreal, New England beating New York, and then Charlotte and Orlando playing to a draw. Also Miami and Nashville played to a draw, so Messy

didn't get his win there against Nashville at home. But Pete to continue on that Portland conversation, you know, if they're coming off of the win, coming in, we talk a lot about momentum. We talk a lot about, you know, sometimes facing a team that just lost its head coach. And there's two ways of course about it. Is the rudderless part is certainly there naturally, you know, and we you know, and Portland having to

shuffle things around to get a leader in place. But then there's also the part of players then being motivated for jobs, and you know, wanting to potentially make their new boss proud and make you know, potentially any other boss that they may have an MLS proud. So these are players that are still going to be motivated, you know, for whatever reason, especially coming off

of a potential win that where they're leading one nothing right now. Absolutely, there's a lot of things that will get that Portland Timbers team fired up. The victory, the four one victory back at Portland. They would love to claim sort of a sweep where Seattle doesn't get a win at all. They had at zero zero draw here earlier in the year. So everybody liked Geo, right, Yeah, Brian Schmitzer, that's not easy to like the Portland

Timbers coach when you're the Seattle Sounders head coach. Right, It's built into the DNA of the two clubs. But Brian liked Geos. It's so easy with Caleb Porter. Oh yeah, yeah. If he was our coach, I'm not sure anybody would like him. But anyway, I shouldn't have said that. Do you have a dump button or something? Sorry? Sorry? Sorry? So, so I think that there's a lot of reason and you're right. If they beat RSL, then I think they're gonna come in flying

high, and they're gonna try to make something out of this season. And you're right in the pro game. You're trying to make sure you have another contract, and you want to make sure that whatever whoever ends up taking over sees the highlights of what you can do for your squads. So this could be this will be a good one. Both teams will be coming in from different angles, but both teams will be coming in with a lot of desire

and motivation behind us. So let's look at the little logic behind the substitute tonight and what that could tell us about what Brian Schmenzer does coming up this Saturday. And I'm going to kind of play process of elimination here going through the entire starting eleven, and you cut me off if you think I'm wrong on any of this. Stephen Frying goal, because he is the man and had a phenomenal day today. Alex rolled On did not play tonight. He's

back at right back. Knew went the full game, So theoretically you could make a sub there, but I think Knew, who's a guy that can play a million minutes in a week and be completely fine. Yeah, he stayed home a lot. I don't think he put in a tremendous amount of you if you follow his GPS running for the day, I don't think it was beyond being able to go again and having the same kind of role against the Timbers staying home in other words, so I can see him for sure

being the starter there as well. So then Gomez Andrade came in late in this game, in the eighty fourth minute, he's a starter. He sits alide alongside Jackson Reagan. I think that's pretty set. Eleven shutouts for those guys, yep, and then you kind of then build up from here. So Joel Paulo came out at halftime for Albert russ Snack. I think it's pretty fair Joel Paulo was going to start against the Pearland Timbers. Obiit Vargas I then came onto the field in the second half. I believe in this

game. So it is a potential can it to start or you could you know, Albert Russknack came on at halftime, he could potentially start next to Joel Paulo. So Russknack slash Obed Jordan Morris is going to start in this game, he came off early, he's coming off of a goal. Jordan Morris will start. The only question then is is it Jordan on the right, Leo Chu on the left, roll up top Niko in the middle. Is it Jordan upped? I think I think Rollo has to play. I

think Rollo didn't play tonight. I think he has to start, so there's role. So then Jordan is he on the left with a russknack on the right or is it a shuffle around? I mean, how do you think Brian organizes this considering the fact that also Nicholas Lederol played I believe the entire nation tonight. No. Yeah, so that's a lot of minutes on Nico's legs, although he didn't cover as much ground as he normally does, and so that's a good thing on a couple of the levels. But I think

you're right. The back four is knew who Reagan, Gomez, Androtti and then and then Alex rolled on. I think the right's gonna be Morris. I think it's gonna be uh Jp and russneck because you've got a goal,

you want to reward that. And I think it's going to be Chew on the left with Nico in the middle, Niko in the middle and Raoul up front, and then I think what they were trying to implement was getting Morris next to Raoul, so focus going down the left hand side and then try to get Morris up a little bit higher and have Alex slide in a little bit higher as well. So I can see them going back to that.

They've been working on it, and I think that's almost one three, one four twos as as Albert pushes up to and finds that in the attack for sure, and then and then they'll go back to you know, the four two three come. But I just think it's logical. The players can't argue

those decisions. Even though guys did do a good job today, it's the Portland Timbers and you want to put out your strongest suit, and I think Russnack gets it because he did score a very good goal, absolutely, and you want to you want to kind of encourage that it's hard to keep a guy off the field if he does that game winning goals. It's impossible.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. So there we go. There's our best guests, but ultimately will be with Brian Schmitzer and the entire coaching staff to determine there on Saturday what it will be.
