Hello everybody, I am Healy Dunning, Heally Dunning in the host chair. It's very weird, especially with Jackson
Felts literally standing right next to me at KGr Studios right now. The big guy Jackson is getting ready to make his play by plate debut tonight, which we are all so pumped up, fired up for. I wish I could. I was about to ask him a question about this right now, but he doesn't have a microphone, so we'll get there. We'll get there. Um. Hello and welcome to the Sounders FC Premat Show, presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Attle Sounders FC. We are live from KJR
Studio and Ballard. Our crew did not make the trend the track to Sandy Utah, but the Sounders did. We're actually watching them do warm ups on our TV screen. But we are here in Seattle, beautiful day. By the way, in Seattle, Um, I'm gonna bring our anna listen. Um, we have Seattle U men's soccer coach, former Pete Hewing and Sounders beat reporter, writer, videographer, basically everything. I feel like he does a little bit of everything. Mazvita Maria E Day. Did I Did I
get that nailed it? Oh? Yes, honestly, guys, That's what I was most nervous today. I was making sure that I got Mas's name right. Welcome in, guys. How how's your day? How excited for an exciting little soccer match? I'm fired up? It's it's this is another step for the Seattle Sounders and their growth and h Taylor Swift in town, which you know I can't get more excited about that, I'll be honest. By the way, thank you everyone, he was tuning in with us instead
of going the Taylor Swift concert. Thank you so much. That's where That's where Danny Jackson is right now with these kids. I'm sure, coach, are you a SWIFTI? Is that what he's saying here? Yeah? Well, you wouldn't. You can't be a swifty for you here? What for these exciting I'm excited as well. I mean, I think this is another opportunity for the Sounders Mantra. You know, that big club to continue to add another trophy, and this, you know, this gives him that opportunity.
So excited to see what happens to you. Yeah. Now, everyone, if you aren't familiar with League's Cup and what is on the line, this is actually not an MLS match. This is a League's Cup match. We are starting in the group stage where the Sounders are facing off against Real Salt Lake in Sandy, Utah at America First Field. They will be playing Monterey and they will be hosting them at Lumen Field on July thirtieth. League's
Cup is a very exciting tournament between Legua MX and Major League Soccer. Forty seven teams participate, all twenty nine MLS clubs eighteen Leaga MX sides. I'll take you just through the tournament a little bit about like what the format is, so you know there's no surprises, especially if this game ends in a tie, there will be no extra time. It goes straight to pks. So let's just educate everyone, get everyone on the same page about what's sort
of going on tonight. The first group stage matches tonight. Sounders are in the West two group, like I said, along with RSL and Monterrey. We will be hosting them at Loominfield on July thirtieth. Tickets available. Sounders use dot com slash tickets, little plug there during the group stage. All matches must have a winner. Guys, it's gonna say that one more time. All matches must have a winner. There are no ties at the end of ninety minutes, so no zero zero draws. Pete mos we excited about
no more Zero's your draw? Yeah? I mean the finality is you gotta like that no draws and someone is going to walk away with a W and someone walks away with that l yep three Yeah. I like the idea of penaligue kis and we saw MESSI had a free kick last night in the ninety fourth minute against Cruz's UL for his debut with Miami. But I like penalty
kicks. I think it's a different twist and it's part of it kind of makes this League's Cup a little bit different and adds a little bit of pressure, and I know for coaches it gives them an opportunity that we've won an MLS Cup on penalty kicks, so you want to be ready for that, and it gives our team a chance if we do go to that, to step up and sort of get that figured out maybe in the future for MLS games. Coach, A good question for you if you will, coach,
would you feel the same about penalties? No, No, not at all. Absolutely, yeah. You know what, So we had a very good goalkeeper in Achille Cassim and we went to penalties against Utah Valley and he did very well. We went to penalties against Stanford and Michael Thomas, our goalkeeper now with the Sounders, was the Stanford goalkeeper taunting our players. So I wasn't happy about that one. And then we beat Grand Canyon on penalties.
They're fun when you're ahead, you know, but but they're a bit nerve racking. But you know, Brian Schmitzer always talks about Romont Tours is PK and he didn't know where he was going. Brian didn't know where he's going, The goalkeeper didn't know where he's going, but it went in the back of the net. So PK's they are. It's a different twist um to uh, you know, to the norm of maybe ending on the tide. But I think it, I think it adds and elevates a little bit this
tournament. Yeah, then we get into kind of like NHL hockey rules, where you get three points with just a straight up win, two points if you win because of PK's one point, if you lose because of PK's zero points, if you just lose, which kind of reminds me of NHL. If any there's any hockey fans out there, Um, coach, you talked about Lanel Messi. You alluded to probably and potentially one of the biggest stories in Major league soccer history happened last night. Um, guys, I'm sure
you watched him enter the field. I'm sure you watched him stub in. I'm sure you watched the free kick. Take me through what that was like watching Messi in a flipping major league soccer jersey last night. Well, for me, you know, we saw that with Beckham. And when Beckham came in, you know, he had this huge contract and he was playing with guys next to him that were making twenty five thousand dollars a year and Beckham, I'm not sure what his complete package was for salary, but he also
had a few extra side sponsorships. The league's so much different. So I compare the two and Messi comes onto the field and you know, he still can play. I watched every one of his touches a few times this morning again, and he can play, and he's gonna bring something. You know, our friend Chris Henderson, who grew up here Everett Bourne Rays had a great MLS career, was our technical director, is now the director of sporting at Miami. You know, he's been a part of seeing that growth.
What an important thing for that franchise because they were bottom of the table. Right between Messi and Buschitz, they're just going to bring another level of awareness to the league from around the world. So it's exciting, and you know, it was fun to see him embrace the crowd as well that were sold out. There was fifty thousand people and him embracing it. So I think he gets it like David Beckham got it. I think that's very very important
for the league. Yeah, I think the similarity in Kiely that both of him is that both players understood the magnitude of that moment, and so it just wasn't that. You know, the players and they understood it, embraced their opponent, their players, the fans so and I think the evolution of the way that Apple covered that was really amazing. But you felt you were right there. And then, as coach said in a production meeting this morning, you know, I think he was right. I think David Beckham had
a little tear that came down. And it has to feel responsible that doesn't even us. I mean, I'm sure that that was part of the equation. He said, Look, I did it. Here's where the league's gone. This will build your brand. You can also live in this country and go get a cup of coffee, possibly without being accosted. You could maybe go hang out a little bit and and the Miami lifestyle. But he has to feel like he's really done another great thing from Major League Soccer, David
Beckham. And on that note, coach is now you've put the two coasts together. They now both have had transformational players that have brought up So now to your point, MLS is now US wide. But obviously those players make it in a national game. And I thought, you know what better placed than the way that you know, Chris Henderson and whatever all they did behind the scenes. I mean we all felt we were young again, you know, twelve years old, the beautiful game, and how how do you script
that? I mean, how do you You don't truth is stranger than fiction, honestly, wwe cannot have come up with a better way for that game to have happened. Yeah, no question, Yeah, I know it wasn't fixed, right, It is so great. I mean he scored almost I think it's eight hundred goals, right, and so this is not an anomaly
in any way. But you know, when you were talking Mos, I was thinking about when Pele came right, and Beck and bar and Bogachevic and Johann Naiskins and the Cosmos had this crazy team that was owned by Warner Brothers. They lost thirty two million dollars in one of their years, and the rest of the league couldn't keep up with what the New York Cosmos were doing.
A few teams tried to. The Sounders were certainly really strong and similar blueprint to what we use today, and that they're not overspending, but they're getting quality in their culture is great. But the league in the NFL days, which died in eighty two. Is you know, they just couldn't afford to do what they're doing. Now it's sustainable, and now Messi coming in
and Messi's doing a great thing for the game. He certainly could have made more money going to Saudi Arabia. I don't think that would have been a great thing decision for him as a player. I don't think that league's anywhere near where this league is. I don't think that would have been a great thing for his brand in my opinion. I think coming here was a really smart thing for him to do, and he's going to help elevate the game. And you saw it, like I said, when Pela came in.
It was so exciting when Pela came uh to to the U n ASL. And you know, there's a great picture of Dave Gillett coming right through the back of him. There's one of the best accent I've ever heard. O
God, amazing. Yeah, it was great. There's a picture of Gillett and uh, Tommy Jenkins and Jimmy Gabriel all standing over Pela and I and those are good guys, right, and and they thoroughly loved being there so for you know, for our Seattle Sounders, for Alex rol Don, christirol Don to go up against Messi. Hey, his his outside right back, who got a couple of passes from him. Um DeAndre Yedlin from Oday High School. I'd love to hear Deandre's he has to be a little bit um
in awe of that. Yeah. I remember playing my first game for Seattle and Jeff Durgan, who was with the Cosmos, came to us, and I remember we're playing Dundee and I remember screaming for Durgan to play me the ball. And in that moment, I was like, I am calling Jeff Durgan to play me the ball, right, because he was kind of a hero of mine. And now we're all of a sudden on the field together. And so to be on the field with Messi and get a pass from
him, I bet it's honestly kind of surreal. Right, You're getting a ball from him that's perfectly weighted. You're like, wow, this Lionel Messi. If you're oh bid Fergus, you're seventeen years old, Yeah, there you go. I mean there's a chance they won't you want not this year? Well, maybe right, but there's a chance that he could play absolutely well. What was it? I was on my Instagram stories and our own Brad Evans put on his Instagram story how just excited he was to watch this
happen. And I think of those guys that were around, you know, in the MLS one point MLS two point zero, and then they watched the greatest player in the world having come off just winning a World Cup, still totally maybe the tail end of his prime, but still very much in his prime, still ridiculously talented and ridiculously good. And these guys have to be so proud of themselves that they built this league to allow for the goats to come in and sort of take the baton and keep it going. So it's
just really exciting all the way around. Um, we are about twenty seven ish minutes from kickoff on at America's First Field in Santa Utah's Night's count down to Kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. Sorry, guys, I know I cut you off. We talked a lot about MESSI really exciting, talked a lot about Leak's Cup. We will get into the Delta starting eleven and our opponent outlook in the next segment,

He will be on play by play along with coach Pete Fewing, who is also on our pre Happen post show. I'm also here with moz Vita eat A. I was so happy every time I say your name correctly. I was this was the thing that was making me the most nervous. Um. So let's get right into it, guys, Delta, starting eleven.
Coach, do you have the Sounders lineup? I do? Yeah. Brian Schwetzer puts out is typical four two three one. It's it's his first choice lineup for the most part. Frying goal. Alex Roldon, you're right back, knew who you're left back? Your center backs Reagan and Gomez and Dratti in back in front of the back four O Bid Vargas, JP Gel Paulo on the right hand side, Christian Rolldon Rusnak will sit right underneath ru Ideas on the left hand side. Is Leo chu fry as your captain today?
And Mas do you have a well this is a stupid question. I know that you have it because I emailed it to you. Can you please give us real salt Lakes lineup part well, absolutely all right, I'm gonna coach just then, and I'm gonna go from back to the front. That Zach McMath is the goalkeeper, and then the left back is Brian Ava. I know, Brian Vira is also Vera is the one center back. Marcello Silva
is the other one, and Mecca Emmy is the right full back. And then that Diego Luna is you know, needs no introduction, is the left wing. There Pablo Louise, Briannojda Jefferson Jefferson, Saviana Saverino and then of course that Chicho Arango and Danny a local boy right coach Mosoviski upfront. He's he's a Las Vegas kid playing Glenn lv uh and he's been bounced around the league a little bit, and when Chichirito came into La Galaxy was a great
move for him. I believe he first, Um, he's been around the league. He and Alex Roldn played against each other in college and there was a very memorable game between the two of those guys. So um, but this is a great opportunity for him to be here with RSL. Arselves had a very very good year, very up compared to what they have in the past. Yeah. True. Um, we'll get it more into that in the opponent outlook. Uh, what is your what are your guys thoughts on
the lineups? Sounder is really putting out a really strong one. They're really going for it on links cut. Yeah, you know, Brian Smester really doesn't have a any other way to do it but to put out his best lineup. And sometimes people get critical all that. I saw some tweets about you know, it's a nine point week and he's putting his best lineup out, you know, every single game, and that might not be wise,
but that's the culture of the team. I like the lineup. There's no Nico in here, and so you know, that's the only guy that I think we miss. But other than that, and then on the bench, you've got Morris can come in and help, which he will be rested, which will be great. That'll be a boost. And you've got a Baron. Then you've got uh, Freddy Montero. So there's firepower on the bench as well as some guys that can fill in some roles. So I like
the Sounder lineup. Rusneck's playing against his old team in his old stadium where he had a lot of success. So it'll be interesting to see. You know, he's had a year. This is his second year with Seattle, but those things don't really go away, right, and so you want to come back and impressed. So I like the sound the lineup. Thoughts on
the lineup, No, absolutely, coach. I mean, just to your point, right, Weddy Brian. He's told us all week that you know, they're using this this tournament to get right, you know, for the last ten days. But what this is about is to get right. If you're gonna get right, you got to do it right right. So that's why he's got this strong lineup. And I think for you know, we talked about it in terms of we all Salt Lake, you know, I
mean they're in good form and they're playing really well. Diego Luna is you know, you know, I mean he's on the bounce and he played really well. He was a player of the you know, he had he had a brace. So I mean you've got a guy here who's really in form. I think, um for the Sounders, Christian Rodan getting wide and also Alex Rodan because if you remember when they when they won two zero Alex Rodan
had two goals I mean to assist. One was that exquisite went over to George Morris in the back post, and then he had that I don't know if it's a cross or the past. Whatever it was, it was to Abaar and it was just right there where he just kind of of a sitter. So I think both the rod I think that side is really going to give problems to Rest. It'll be interesting to also see I think what um
you know, Leo Chu, he's going to Will they be balanced? I think if the sounds can be more balanced, that's something that Brian Smatch has talked about that they want to be more balanced and uh and if they are, I think they they can cause some issues for real. Salt Lake quickly diving into the Providence Swedish team health report. UM, coach, you alluded to this, but Nico Ladero did not travel. He's dealing with a right
adductor so that is sort of our biggest injury update. Otherwise, we basically have a full slew of Like you guys talked about attacking talent on there. It's exciting to see Roul up there. I know he's gonna want to and needs to score some goals and put some in the back of the net. So hopefully we'll see a couple of those tonight. Um. Yeah, very very excited. Um. Let's do tonight's chart vision opponent outlook really quick and this was a stat that I found. M rsl have not lost an MLS play since June. So, um, pretty pretty different team than we faced the first two times we've seen them. What have you guys sort of
seen from rslum anything really to watch? Any players on their side? Any You know, their head coach is a really good coach. They've been doing well six three three on the road, four four four at home, which is also very strange. What are your guys thoughts on real Salt Lake. Well, I'm impressed with them, and you know, they put together a pretty darn good staff that's pretty methodical. Kurt Schmidt, who was here with
the Seattle Sounders, as gone over to him. John Smith, who was an agent the Roldan's brother agent, has left the agent business and gone in to help them, and they've slowly but surely gotten back to consistency as a team record wise ten seven and seven. You know, they're spending less money than many teams around the league, but they're getting the most Luna Silva. They've got some players on this team that have talent. McMath is a veteran
goalkeeper in this league for a long time. So I like what they're doing and I'm happy to see a small market team like this. It's an awesome place to play. Rio Tinto with a Losatch Mountains is a really great place to go. See. So I talked about the NFL and team's falling off and having to go out of business right many years ago. Well, this is a team that this league needs to do well. You go back to the Beckerman and Saverano and Nick Romando and goal they have a pretty good history.
They won the MLS Cup here in Seattle in two thousand and nine, and it feels like they're a good team, stable again with good weapons, yeah, coaching, and it seems like they're they're playing quality in terms of they don't make a lot of mistakes and they are taking advantage the opportunities that they have and what they've tallied seven goals over the last two home matches, so when they're at home, you know, you know, they click and you know, so this is a team that you have to really just be
disciplined, you as the opponent, and you really have to be you know, communicate and then you know, I don't know, you know, the Sounds are gonna sit back or whatnot. But when you get your opportunities, you really have to capitalize on that. And we know the Sounders have have been close, but this isn't horseshoes, right, and so so they've got
to score on this and that that's that's the thing I'm looking for. But you know it, um, the last time Christian Rodan and rule Rear Dyaz and that zero zero draw, I know it's a different team, right, they both missed that game, and so you've got both of those in there. Um, I think it's a favorable matchup on the wings there for the for the Sounders. But we just have to see if they can create those opportunities now that via two understands cutting back inside. It's a tough place Seattle
lasts. I think one there with Lamar Nagles goal cutting across the box left. We show that clip every time. Well keep waiting for again. Yeah, it was a great goal, great strike. I think it was actually at the game, and but you know there's a little bit of elevation there that they Bryan Schmitzer doesn't really like the term the fortress, right, because
that's rio Tinto is referred to as the Fortress. That game when Lamar scored that was I think they had twenty nine games in a row unbeaten at home. It's a tough place to play, so um, there's some of that that goes in the mind. I think the fact that Russneck is coming back, because I mentioned earlier, I think I think he's coming back to play against his old team. So um. But it's all to play for this This new Cup, I think is something that you know, they talk about.
They talk about the MLS wanting to be one of the top five leagues in the world. This is I think part of that equation. Yep, tonight's opponent, Alick was presented by a sharp vision, modern basic and lends the official lasic provider of Sounders FC. I like your point that it's very hard to play there. I will point out that RSL is only four four and four at home this year, which is again very strange, but also a lucky number if anyone is into numerology, four four four is a good
number, um players to watch. Guys on the sounder side, I'll open it up Moss. You first, I think the Rodan's you know, Alex. How can we not him going down that wing there? Um, I think Leo chu him cutting inside. And one thing that Alex did in you know, in both games is his ability to cut inside, not just go wide, but cut inside and create an overload in that box as the extra player. And of course, I you know, I think he's due.
I think rudez, but I don't if he gets a chance A bear was close, you know he's so those are my players multiple I get two on the bench. Really, to me, it's rudzmus said Brian, using this to try to get things right for the club, and a big part of the club getting right is really his scoring goals. So to me, he's the player to watch. And it does go to your point, he's got to get the good service from Christian and Alex on the right end side a
Leo on the left. I'm excited to see Albert playing against his former team. I think that he really had, like you can just see it all the games that he's played here. He just wants to score and do well so badly and I would love to see him be able to do that. Um, he's the match coming up next, guys, we are so close to kickoff on Emerald Emerald Queen Casino's Countdown to Kickoff at America First Field, which I know we've said Riot into a couple of times and is now America's
first Field. By the way, it was a great sponsorship. That was big money for the club, and I think that's been a factor for him. Thanks for pointing that out. Yeah, No, it was a very big deal financially for the club. I want to say one hundred million dollars and I think I might be correct on that. I think that was the number it was at the beginning of the year, but that infusion of cash
very important for the club. Yep, all right. We will be back very quickly, just to restart everything and reintroduce everything, and then Jackson Felts will be on for play by play. Stay tuned. After making the League's Cup final in twenty and twenty one and suffering a heartbreaking loss to Club lay Own in Las Vegas, your Seattle Sounders are back in an ex banded League's Cup here in twenty twenty three and get the tournament kicked off in the Group States tonight with a battle against Real Salt Lake at America First Field in Sandy, Utah. Good evening, everybody, and welcome to tonight's broadcast. My name is Jackson Phelts and I'm alongside former Seattle University
head soccer coach Pete Fewing. As Keiley outlined during the prematch show. We are indeed seeing the Rave Green putting their full force into this new expanded tournament with a strong starting eleven pete. It's clear that Seattle will be going after this new piece of hardware and the only piece of hardware that they don't have
in their trophy case. No, you're correct. They've got two MLS cups, they've got four US Open Cups, they've got a supporter shield, they've got a Champions League trophy as well, and this is one that they would love to add. And you go back, I was thinking about some of the other tournaments they had won in the NSL days and the USL days. There's a lot of trophies for this new facility and this is one they'd certainly
like to add. And I think it's it's about the the culture of the club, about when I was at Manus Stadium and I was at man City Stadium a few months ago. Manchester United has a lot of hardware. It is wonderful to have that kind of history. Man City does not. Well, let's right now take a look at what Brian Spencer has thrown out. So let's get to the delta starting eleven for the Seattle Sounders. It is
Stephen Fry in goal. It's your normal back four and knew who is your left back, Jackson Reagan, Yamar Gomazan Drade, your center backs Alex rolled On on the right side. You're holding midfielders here? And well, we know is this four two three one that the Sounders put out? We know that when they attack it changes to a three two four one, and when they defend it shifts back into a four four two. But as we line up, it is a four two three one. Ohbet Vargas, Jualpolo,
are you're holding midfielders? Your band of three attacking midfielders include Leo Chew on the left, Albert Russ Snack in the middle, Christian rolled On on the right, and the fleet roll Ruy Diaz starts up top for the Sounders. And yes, that is the same starting eleven that Seattle put out last week in the won one game there against Dallas and Pete. You gotta love that consistency from head coach Brian Schmitzer. Well, I think it's a chance for
Rustnack. He's playing against his former team, but it's another opportunity for him to get comfortable in that spot, and that seems like that's the path the Sounders are going. Ladero was in that role for quite a long time for this club. He's home with an injury right now. It gives Rusnak another opportunity to get more comfortable with rue ideas, to get better going underneath him and then to get on the end across from Chew and rolled on. That's
absolutely right. Well, we are just about to get things kicked off from America First Field in Sandy, Utah, where I believe, as the prematch show mentioned Mazvitama Era mentioned ninety nine degrees right now, Pete, I mean these are hot conditions. Humidity is only at eleven percent. But this right now is going to be a game where you certainly have to manage the heat. Well you do. And Brian Schmittzer, we're looking at him and I
have never seen him with facial hair like that. I don't think you're not shaved this morning, maybe yesterday and the few days before. I've never seen a beard on that guy, So I don't think he read the heat index when he was coming out on this one. But yeah, you do have to deal with it. There's a little bit of elevation there at RSL as well. And so you've kind of got to get that. I always say, you've got to get the warm air and you're inside your lungs and you
really do. What that means is you've got to get a good five minutes of running before you break through that you can't and you have to do that. In the warm up, we're looking at really Dias and he's soaking wet. Yeah, and so they'll get used to it. They'll get used to it. As the sun goes down, it'll cool down a little bit. Should be noted that tonight a very special night for your sounders, Stephen Fry tying Ausi Alonzo for the most appearances in club history across all competitions. That's
three hundred and thirty nine for Stephen Fry. So congratulations to Steph tying Auzzy.
And imagine that next Sunday, Monterey, the next match in this Lease Cup in as we kind of you know, begin this tournament and begin this game, you know, we really kind of look at this League's Cup, you know format pete, which is you know, basically the easy way to say it to people is the fact that it's it's almost like a World Cup style tournament where what happened is MLS molded together with Liga MX, the Mexican
Soccer League. There's forty seven clubs that are participating, twenty nine from MLS, eighteen from Lega MX. Two teams go straight through the group stage into the knockout round. LAFC is one of them by by winning MLS last year. Of course, the Lega MX winner from last year also advances straight. So there's fifteen groups, three teams in each. Sounders are in this group with Ralph salt Lake and CF Monterey, who comes to Lumen Field the following
Sunday. As it works, they play through the group stage. This game will either end in a win loss, or it'll end in a penalty kick win or penalty kick loss. There are no ties. If this thing is tied after ninety minutes, we will go straight to penalty kicks. So you get three points for a win, two points for a penalty kick win, one point for a penalty kick loss, and no points for a loss. As we are underway from America First Field in Sandy, Utah, you're Seattle
Sounders attacking from left to right across your radio dial. Ryals Salt Lake in their red tops and blue shorts, Sounders in their green tops and blue shorts, and we are underway here in Sandy, Utah and Pete as we look
at this league's cup. You know, we mentioned that this is just another trophy for the Sounders to go after, but this is a unique one in the sense of you are not only getting this trophy by playing your own league, you're specifically matching up against Legua MX, a league that you know, we've seen Sounders winning Cocky Calf Champions League last year and then this year Leah and X takes it back from LAFC. I think it's these two leagues are
kind of pushing each other along and it's to the betterment. The competition between the two is good for both leagues. It's forcing each team, each side, excuse me, each league to try to get a little bit better, get better players, get deep her and catch up with the rest of the world. It's a good thing. It's healthy competition. Sounders have a throne from midfield and he'll be sent down and teams heading the ball back and forth.
Right now, just feeling each other out here in the first minute of this match from America first field there in Sandy, Utah where it is ninety nine degrees. RSL long ball down the way, trying to find Diego Luna MLS player of the Match day last week, scoring two goals in a win over New York Red Bulls. RSL working around the midfield. Here's Brian o'hayda
oheya flips it over to the right side, working with Jefferson Savarino. Is RSL will now be forced to retreat line of confrontation right about midfield there with Raval ruy Diaz and looks like Albert Russnach playing off of Roval ruy diaz shoulder. There those are the top two and you know the Sounders playing at four to four two is. RSL starts working down the left here and here's Diego Luna working on the left side. He'll have to come back out a little
bit. RSL getting back Agin trying to find some space with Oviado. He'll try to cross it in and that is Christian roll Don getting in front of that one. That'll be out for an RSL throw in. Christian roll Don, coming back from the United States men's national team a week and a half ago, played fifty seven minutes for the United States and then started and went all ninety for the Sounders in a one one dragainst Dallas. Is they're working
again down that left side. Here is Oviado Oviado playing back and forth there. He will send a cross in it reaches the far post, no pressure, but knew who makes a block on a shot back out and Chicho Arngo got it at his feet but taken away very quickly by looked like obed Varius getting a step foot in there, and the Sounders are able to force it back out as RSL will have to reset at midfield with their center backs.
Marcello Silva, a thirty four year old six two center back of Costa Rican International, I should say from Uruguay and Marcello Silva a guy who's been with RSL for a long time. One hundred and nineteen starts twenty four games in MS with RSL pet and this is a veteran RSL team of veteran back line for Real Salt Lake here and then and one that's certainly international, which means
you know, playing League MX teams in this tournament. They will be up for a lot of these games, you know, Yeah, no question that crossed to here from the lde. Yeah, RSL sending across in and it will get all the way to Oviato on the other side on the left, and now here's Savorino trying to get in. He takes a shot, but it sails about ten yards over the bar. Saverino did not have a good look at that one, a man who typically plays over on real salt Lake's
right wing. He drifted and had to send that shot Pete pretty far over that bar. Not a good look. But at the end of the day for the Sounders, he'll take that every day of the week. Yeah, Savreino certainly once that back. He had time and he had room, and he just got underneath it and flipped it up over the crossbar and he went right past open Vargas. So to your point about this veteran team, you
can see that they are playing very comfortably. They're moving the ball. Seattle's pretty although the interesting thing is I'm seeing Russneck Ruidiaz right next to each other in a line with Christian Roldan, so Seattle is getting higher up the field. They are very intentional, and it's a long ball to Raal Ruidiaz.
He brings it down, he chests it down, wants the foul, but it's not called now salt Lake on the transition they are looking to counter, but it takes a deflection and and I'll just roll to Jackson Reagan who kicks it back to Stephan Fry. No danger there for the Sounders as Stefan Fry will work out of the back, hitting up to Alex Roldan on the right.
Well don over to Gomez Andrade Yamar now over to Jackson. The young Jackson Reagan winning a starting spot at the start of this season, basically taking it from Javier Ariaga, who was the starter for most of last season. Jackson came in, worked hard in the offseason, comes in and and earns
that spot. Pete as the Sounder is just sending it along the back line and just getting this game comfortable, maybe just looking for a pass as Yanni Jamar is over on the right, Yamar up to roll Ruidiaz who's tracked back a bit, back to Jol Paulo who crosses midfield through all Polo sends it to the other side, changing theo point to Albert Russnack now Russneck on the edge of the center circle. So Ruy diez Is role has dropped far back
the he's roll. Redy is basically playing as a midfielder right now. Well, he wants to get on the ball. He wants to get his touch is It's interesting it feels a little different where only six minutes into this one, but both teams when they're on the ball, there's not a tremendous amount of pressure from the other squad. And Seattle now is knocking around about their
fifteenth fast and row RSL's strung fifteen passes two or three times. So I don't know if it's now by design changing the point of attack over onto the left side here and now it's Leo che trying to find some space and combination play. It is out for a goal kick, trying to bounce obed Vargas was trying to bounce Leo Chew on that left wing, but Obet just put a little bit too much weight under that peat for cheto he listen. Leo chu is a fast player, maybe the fastest on the sound of roster,
but just a little bit too much weight there from obed Vargas. Yeah, just a little a little far and no chance he's got a He had enough room to leap, try to keep that on the field. Well, rsl now working out of the back, but this is a near turnover, and it is a turnover Sounders coming away with that one, but they will turn it right back as Salt Lakes now in transition looking up getting onto the left. I believe that's Chicho Orongo now finding on the end of that one.
Jackson Reagan right in fun across right in the front of Gold, but nobody there. Danny Massosky Pete was right there to try to tap it in, but Chicho Arango sent that about a foot and a half too much in front of Danny Mazosky the other four for Salt Lake today and ultimately that will, I think go out for a Sounders throwing, but a dangerous attack coming down the right side. Peat. Yeah, it's a great run. It's a great ball across Gomes Androni was there as well. When we see it from
the angle we see it now, it was about three yards away. It looked a lot closer the first time. That's the kind of service really, Diaz once from his wingers, that's what Missovski and Orango went as well. And Orango, the big story for Chicho Orongo. He was obviously a star at LAFC, you know, twenty eight years old from the Dan Colombia bound
surround about nine different clubs since twenty sixteen. Then landed at LAFC, where he scored thirty five times in fifty eight games over twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two. Went to Pachuca as RSL has basically pick given away the ball just trying to very easily pass between their back line, but pass over to their right back goes way far out and the Sounders will have it thrown about fifteen yards from the end line in RSL's territory. Dangerous here, Yeah,
a little casual where RSL at the back, very casual. That's as we were kind of listening off Chicho Orongo. They were just casually passing the ball back and they're right back and perhaps wasn't ready for it, but the center
backs pass over just completely sent the wrong direction. Perhaps, but Chicho Arongo brought in after joining Pachuca over the last few months and he has allowed RUSL then now be unbeaten in their last ten they have been playing out standing as the Sounders right now working in well saw Lake half Albert russneck on the ball looking for an outlet over on the right to Alex Roldan. Roldon goes inside, now to Rawle Ruy Diaz. He was tracked in once again playing in
the midfield. Roll to the midfield. He passes over to Christian Rodan, but that's taken away from real salt Lake a past chest too far out for Christian Rodan to get a foot on that, and now it's salt Lake once again countering. Here comes on the right side, all right, Sell looking to build and transition early in this match, and now switching it over to the left. Here's Oviato coming back up from his left back spot, and Oviato will send it back so Heda working in the midfield. Now off to
the left again into the box a chance. Chicho Orongo turns kicks and that will take a deflection and go above the bar by a bouts a good twenty yards skies it and some fan just got a ball in his chest. But Chizo Rongo gets this ball in the box, chests it, brings it down. Sounder's calling for a handball on this pete and Checho ends up kicking that way high and it looks like they are gonna say it took a deflection going
up and this will be an RSL corner. It'll be Pablo Ruise to take from the far corner post here it is zero zero Rial sa Lake, Seattle from America, first field in Sandy, Utah, zero zero so far, Het Feeling Jackson Felt Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM for sounders Rial Salt
Lake. Because the corner comes in from Ruise and that's headed away by Yamar goomins Adotry, but it reaches Jefferson Savarino Saverino and he kicks him, saying by Stephan Fry, Severino had an angle and it is now recycling the runs for RSL. Here they come again down that right side. Here's ruise, but a Ruise is gonna try to get it back and that is knocked away. Looks like Christian roll Don got in the middle of that one. Is Saverino. Pete tried to find an angle here found one and a great job
from Stephan Fry to hit that away. Yeah, real good shot. And Jackson Reagan a little bit in the sight line for Frying. He had to make a quick reaction and then he powers it, pushes it wide to the left to get it out of danger. Good say from Stephen Fry. That gets the goalie in, gets a moving a little bit, so kind of livens him up. It's always good to get that first dive in. First
big moment of this match is the official now calling something here. We'll see, we'll see what's going on here, but ultimately Stephen Fry's safe here in the ten minute on that Saverino shot is so far the play of these first ten minutes of the Sounders. He'd have built from possession. They've tried to find angles, but at the end of the day, I think now what we're seeing is Roll checking back, adding midfielder, but just not finding that
ball into the box. So far in this game is they will have a throw in about ten yards from the halfway line in their own zone and it's gonna be new who crossing the ball all the way to the other side of the field and can he find Alex no all the way out and Alex rolled on that ball was sailing all the way to the stands almost Pete and RSL will have a throw in at the halfway I like the idea from New who buddy, certainly just overhead it. I don't know if it's the thin air
or not, but that was too far for Alex. But that would have been a good opportunity or Alex to take up some Sounders now taking the ball, they were able to take it away from RSL. As looks like an RSL player is now down Christian Oldn working with his brother Alex. Alex now back in the midfielder is jueal Polo dual polo moving to the middle of the park, basically walking it over, working with Albert Rustack and that's a turnover.
RSL take it away again, but nothing there is. Chicho Orongo basically just passes it back to yamartomaz Andrae says, I have no help up top here. You take it and the Sounders work right back. After a turnover in the midfield from both sides and now a tackle as a jual Polo brought the ball up, a foul be called JP bringing the ball up the field and Chicho bals dual polo pretty hard and there in the midfield and Sounders will have a goal kick just a few yards inside their own half. Beat.
Yeah, it comes in a little bit late. Reefrey does make the call, and we just saw the replay not as significant as what we saw. Well. Alex Roldon working on that right side, Yeah exactly, Alex Rodon with you, alpolo Al's Christian rolled On joining the throughsome and now back out to Yamar Gomans and draw a nothing bruin there on that right side, so they'll send it out left. Jackson Reagan working around the center circle, is
backed up into his own half. Reagan back to Yamar. Sounders are retreating more and more, playing it now all the way back out to Stephen fry in goal twelve and a half minutes in the books here in America, first field in Sandy, Utah's zero zero still between your Seattle Sounders and Rayal salt
Lake. Because Sounders now looks like that's gonna be a turnover. Alex rolled On trying to work with Christian there on that right side, but it goes out of bounds as we see a frustrated Bryan Schmitzer shaking his head from the bench beat. Yeah, a little loose. We've give him the ball away a little bit too much. RSL's doing the same and RSL just gave it away again. How about that on que both teams right now, this is a little bit of a sloppy first thirteen minutes in this game, pet Well,
you wonder it's a little bit casual. Each team when they've gotten the ball, they're able to keep good possession. RSL loves the counter. We've seen them try to counter at least three times maybe before. But it's interesting to see. You wonder what the mindset is of this coming into this new Leaks Cup series. All interrupt you here because it looks like a sounder is down. We're trying to see what number that is right now. It's Leo Chew. Leo Chu is right now down holding his left ankle. Two other
sounders as we look there. Oh that does not look good. So what happened there? Was Leo Chew was sprinting intercept that he did actually get a get a piece of a ball to intercept the pass and that led to RSL's turnover. But in doing so, Pete, it looked like his left foot got caught in the ground. I'm not sure what you make of that one. But Leo Chu as a trainer over him right now holding that left calf, holding that left ankle, seeing how much pain the Sounders left winger is
in right now. Yeah, he just got it stuck in the grass and then continued going forward. So no, no in no contact from anybody around him. Yeah, it looked like he rolled it just a little bit. And we're now seeing Dylan TeVeS warming up on the side as Leo Chow gets to his feed walking gingerly. We will see as we take another look at this Onexai, you're exactly right, gets his foot just totally caught in the grass there of America first field in Sandy Utah here, and Leo Chow had
has to be uncomfortable. He actually gets back up immediately and then once he sees Stephan probably clears the danger. He goes down and holds that ankle. He's looks like he's walking, okay though, Pete looks like he's walking, and we'll see if he can return to this game here momentarily. Yeah, interesting to see Dylan TeVeS be the first one up. I thought maybe we'd see Jordan Morris, but we're fifteen minutes into the game, so maybe it's
a bit of working down the left side. Here's Diego Luna. Luna goes back now to Ojda. RSL's still trying to find a gap there on that left side, with Oviado Luna again, Luna sending it centrally, Louise Ruise and the Muzovsky Massovsky cannot find anything. They're shouting for a penalty, but no shout will be heard by the referee and that will go for a clearance.
RSL will have to reset from their own half. Pete. Chance there for Danny Muzovsky, but nothing doing no good turn against Jackson Reagan's RSL bill now again on that left side, Luna, Luna finding Chicho Arongo Arango back to Saverino shot setting stuff and Fry. Fry diving to his left and is able to slap that right above the top right corner of the goal. Stephen Fry a second big save, this counting in the sixteenth minute, keeping this
match zero zero and Pete. Stephen Fry has come up big here in the first sixteen minutes. Yeah, Sabino, quick release, got it off, fast, hit it really hard, total reactionary save from Fry once again punching into away, no problem at all. Yeah, nice job there from Steph and Fry to hit that away as looks like Pablo Ruiz will have another corner here from the far stick setting things up. Or RSL here comes across from
Ruiz, he'll send it far post. Checho Rongo with the header back out tries a bicycle kick, but that is going to go about twenty yards from the actual goal. It was Silva, Marcelo Silva, RSL's thirties lower year old captain from Uruquois. He tries it. It's I mean, listen, Pete, it's a thirty four year old six two center back taking a bicycle kick. You gotta do it. That worked out his bell about as well as I think anybody would have guessed, Yeah, no question, you gotta
do it. That's a Roman Torres's mindset as well. You can bike it or I knew who would try something like that. But still zero zero from America first fields. RSL will take this away and have a chance again. They will now a couple players down on the ground. We'll see what RSL do here. They have one of their guys looks like Oviato is sitting on the ground, but they do not stop play. They'll just retreat and kick things around for a moment. I'll tell you that Sounders FC Soccer is presented
by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. As Oviato is now back up and RSL moving the ball again and sending it far over to the right side. I'll have a chance here now working there with Savarino back onto the right and he'll have to retreat good pressure from Obed Vargas there on that right midfield spot. As now they'll switch over to the left side. Oviato on the left looking to send a crossing. This cross will come and headed
and cleared away from Jackson Reagan who goes down. Looks like Jackson Reagan took a shot on that play, Pete and he went down hard as the booze come in from Salt Lake fans. But that that was a hard hit from center back Jackson Reagan there, he looked like you had Mizovsky or Chicho Orongo right on his back. Yeah, I think it was Orongo just came through the back of him. He certainly had the positioning went out to head the
ball and he took it from Orongo right. You know this shoulder into the back of the head or we're elbow in to the back head and that's the second time Chicho a wrong. We did it, Tod Jual Paula. We're early in this match. Second time Chicho wrong was made a bit of a fish ll play. I mean, this is a player who obviously many times matched up against the Sounders while playing with LAFC, and as we have well documented Pete viewing the LAFC Sounders have a rivalry. So Cheecho well versed in
that is. The Sounders now looked to build up that left side, trying to find Alex's rolled on up on the right, but it's just too far and it's the center back Brian Vera who will end up being able to clear that back to his goalkeeper Zach McMath back to Vera, Vera sending it forward and Yammar Goma is on drawd it. We'll get in the middle of that one. Send it out for an RSL throw. Pete, Yeah, I
don't think teams want to make a mistake on this one. You know, I'm looking at the keeping track acrosses ourselves had three or four Seattle has yet to have across from Chew or from either of the roll Don brothers. So playing a little bit conservative and not getting enough numbers higher up the field right
and why Seattle has not been able to find those pockets yet. I think you're absolutely right, and that's a good point there that you know, one thing after the one one draw against Dallas that a lot of players said. Christian rolled on in the walk m Jordan Morris in the locker room talking to both of them, they wanted more numbers getting forward as RSL work on the
left side, and they'll have to send it back a little bit. Here's Diego Luna sending it back to his center back where they talked about getting more guys in the box for Seattlan. You know, so far twenty minutes into this game, Pete, we've not seen it as long ball coming in. Here a chance now working on that right side. Cross comes into Mazovsky,
but Yamar Gomezandrade does well to clear that ball away. They are not getting by Gomezandradi and Jackson Reagan on these crosses as RSL will turn the ball over in the midfield. Luna turns it over, it's Christian Roldon. But Christian Roldon turns it over right back. Here's Luna. O Viato cross comes in, takes it deflection. Stephan Fry punches it out. Now Checho Rono was gonna get on the end of that. He's deep in his own box and he will try to cross it in but deflects off of knew Who and Pete
locks across. Is for RSL lots of deflections and ultimately this back forth with the sounder is doing a good job of not letting any RSL ball really get easily to a runner in the box. Yeah, chill Don got a little bit of a deflection on that. Fry going to the back post once again paring it away. Third important to say for Fry absolutely is now Jefferson Savarrino is going to take this corner from the far post or changing it from Pablo
Risa. Jefferson Savorino. It's an outswinger here. It comes headed in. Jackson Reagan got a piece to it, but ultimately appears knew Who's able to kick that way out and RSL will have to retreat way into their own half. It's Oviato standing right next to Zach McMath. McMath, a long time
goalkeeper in MLS played with Philadelphia, Colorado, Vancouver. Long ball here from RSL cleared away from new and that will go down to Leo Choo is back in the game and looking good for the Sounders, and Leo Choo is fouled. No call. RSL working in transition. Now RSL moving to the middle of the park. Here's Chicho Orongo Orongo having to move back. Pressure there from Juo Polo Orango off to the left, Oviato back into the attack.
Oviato will send it back so haita ohhda, crossing the field Silva, Rcelo, Silva down into Pablo Louise back out to Silva. RSL looking for some sort of gap here Silva now in the middle of the park. Pablo will send it now down into the box just RSL right now just a lot of wishing balls peat and nothing really finding anything. And now they'll even just turn it over as a pass basically right to new who gives Stephan Fry the BALLO
will send it out to Alex Roldan on the right. The Sounders now turn the ball over just cheech Orongo Chichongo the box and he goes down, you know, foul called and a shot by Jackson Reagan. Jackson Reagan. Two massive stops for the Sounders, first on Checho Orongo and ultimately no shot able to get off for RSL. As Jackson Regan comes up huge for the Sounders in the box and it's like Checho Orongo still down right in the middle of
the RSL box. They will have to kick this out. As they stop play, Chicho Orongo goes down Pete in what was a turtler for Seattle. RSL took it right in the edge of the final third, moving it forward to Chicho Wronguin. As we see the play here, a good defensive play here from Jackson Reagan. Terrific from Jackson Reagan. You know we are watching him yet better and better each week. He know, when he first came into the league, sometimes he would go down, he would give up the
foul. I have not seen any of that this year. He knows what he can get away with, what he can reach, what he shouldn't do. It was a terrific That's a goal saving tackle. And honestly, between the three saves that Fris had that one right there. Seattle is defending pretty well, but RSL is getting a lot a lot of opportunities well. As we mentioned earlier, Stephen fry tonight tying Azi Alonso for most appearances in club
history across all competitions three hundred and thirty nine. Of course, eleven clean sheets in MLS action this year, and that back line, especially Jackson Reagan as we saw there Yamar Gomez Andrade a big reason for those eleven clean sheets. What a tackle on Chicho Orongo and then Jackson Reagan follows it up by blocking the shot of Brian o'haita who moved into the box to clean up that
tackle. Jackson Reagan spectacle a couple of minutes is still zero zero. L r SEL hosting your Seattle Sounders America First Field in Sandy, Utah, where it's now just ninety eight degrees is the teams are starting League's Cup. It's new tournament MLS LIGA MX World Cup style tournament ball going out into the box yea for since Saverino crossing it in, but nobody home pretty effer since Savno
will go all the way to the other side. Diego Luna now five yards from the end line working on Altroldon and Christian rolled on as to send it back out to Oviato. Oviato back out to Ohyda and RSL will have to retreat basically all the way to the halfway line with their center backs now wanting to change it up, perhaps attack on that left side Jackson. It looks a little bit like a training drill and it's just half half field. Like,
yeah, Seattle's defending. RSL's working on their patterns, Seattle's working on their shifting. They're not getting into the attacking half. They're not. As the ball comes into the box headed out from Jackson, Reagan will be a throw and got ten yards from the end line for RSL on the far side. And in Pete, you're absolutely right. The Sounders now appear to be just working, letting the pressure come at them. They're dealing with it well.
Big defensive plays over and over, and you just kind of hope these defensive plays continue and the Sounders are able to find something on transition. Is RSL will throw this ball in and a man will go down right at the corner stick? Is that Mizovsky I believe trying to call for a foul, but ref is not listening to him, certainly, And we've seen some plays
go so far as now RSL back out. Here's Oviato. Oviato has the ball taken away from Christian roll Don and roll Don will try to find Alex, Alex sending it forward to Rudiez, but that ball is picked away from the real Assault Lakes center back. I believe that's Brian Vera picking that out and RSL will now have possession in their own half beat And here we go again. Yeah it does. It looks like the balls are all at the fifty yard line, coaches playing them in and it is a training session Seattle
defending RSL on offense as they work. Now on the left side again, stop me if you've heard this before. Oviato over to Oha ohay, And now with Chicho Orongo who's tracked all the way back into the midfield. But that is well defended by Obed Vargas who got right in Chicho Wrongo's grill. And now here comes RSL back again down the left side, Orongo down the center Orongo from distance, and that has cupped away from Stephan Fry able to
just pat that down right in front of him. Chicho Orongo, he I think, just got frustrated and had to shoot that one from about thirty five yards out and seven Fry deals with it as Steven Fry always does. Yeah, good strike and RSL it's a giveaway RSIL. Now back into the final
third is Sounders have to absorb more pressure. I say continue now this time on the right side Ruise combining with a Mecca and Nelly was there right back today, who's played so much in the Sounder's half, he's almost working as a midfielder. By the way, this is not terrible for Seattle right now. Right if Orongo is gonna take a shot from thirty five yards out and Fry gets a good look at it, it's not a problem at all. We are now as a long ball from RSL will reach absolutely nobody that will
go out for a Sounders throw about a yard from their end line. They're on the near side and still zero zero Sounders FC facing real Salt Lake. This is the beginning of League's Cup in America. First Field and Sandy Utah where it is at ninety eight degrees right now, and listen, this is a group three teams, Sounders, RSL and CF Monterey. Who Seattle will play next Sunday should be mentioned and that match you know, will decide this
group the following Sunday. Of these three teams, the two highest point getters will move forward into the knockout round of thirty two. As the Sounders now have possession, we'll see if they can keep possession for a little bit.
Joal Paul is sending it off to Knew Who on the left and Knew Who now we'll have to send it back for this tournament here for the Sounders, if they can be one of those two teams to top this group with Salt Lake and Monterey, they'll move forward to a knockout round and then we move forward with that. There's regions involved here. Where there's a central region, there's a South region, West region, East region is you can imagine Sounders
are in this West region. So we'll move forward from there and listen anything I think. I think this is a tournament where we're gonna see as it evolves how much MLS teams are gonna put into this. We are seeing Brian Schmittzer putting a top choice starting eleven on the field. Maybe not all ML's teams do that. I think, you know, Steph and Fry was talking, you know, a couple of weeks ago about this tournament saying, I sure hope all MLS teams care about the way we're gonna care about it,
because this. There's a lot of prize money at stake. There's a big trophy at stake, the only trophy that Sounders don't have in their trophy case. And certainly you'd think a lot of teams and a lot of players would want to go for that. Well, there's certainly a philosophy and it kind of goes where you're at at the table as well. Seattle's in fourth place right now RSL and third. They've got a lot to play for in the
MLS regular season. But this is important. It's if you're gonna step on the field and you're playing for Brian Schwetzer and Adrian Hannaur, they are going to want players to produce and do their best. Twenty eight minutes in the books, here is RSL as possession along there back line zero zero between the Sounders and RSL. Again reminding you if this is tied after ninety minutes, we will go straight to penalty kicks. Winner of penalty kicks gets two points,
Loser of penalty kicks gets one point. RSL. Now coming up the right side, here's a nellie and now we're looking for some space. Saverino Saverino, Chico Rongo Chico tries to play a Nelly but a Mecca, and Nellie does not make that run and that'll go out for a goal kick. Well, this copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, to, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer.
Peat. Yes, you know. Right now, we're almost thirty minutes into this one, and right from the beginning, both teams have been feeling each other out. I'd say RSL's had more of the quality chances, but when you're the visiting team, you bend a little bit without breaking. I had mentioned, you know, Bryan Schbetzer, Adrian Hannah want to come into
these tournaments. They want to win these tournaments. By the way, it's very important, and it's important for MLS to show well in their world standings as a league versus League MX. Sounders now in possession in their own half, rolled on Jule Paulo at a bit, Vargas creating a triangle. Albert Rusnak joining the party, but he'll have to send it back to his own
center backs as the Sounders now building Pete some nice possession. We haven't seen this kind of a spell in quite a while, since about the start of the match, it's been all our cell But now just being able to settle this game down a little bit is Raluidiaz has dropped back to right in the middle of the field, right in the middle of the center circle. Now back out to Yamar Gomenz Andrade. He'll send it to the middle of the park. But that is a turnover and RSL will be able to take this
away. But can they counter can they find a moment a transition? Here's Chicho Orongo. Chicho on the right side looking for some space. Yes, Savorino tries to cross it in though, and it's right off of knew who or Yamar cohen is Andrade. I believe just getting right in the middle of that Chicho seems like Pete just getting more and more desperate, trying to create something for Salt Lake where there is nothing. Yeah, I like Orongo.
You know he's gotten stuck in on three tackles against the Sounders. That's a little bit uncharacteristic of a Ford, but some good, hard challenges that he's been involved in. Pulled the trigger, not afraid to shoot, very active. You've been saying his name quite a bit yeah, forse thirty minutes, he's tracked back a lot into the midfield. He's gotten involved as RSL will
have a throne at midfield. And now we'll go to Savarino. Saverino now working up the right side, but he's staring at three Sounder defenders and I'll pass in and that is easily taken away from Yamar Gomez Andrade, who has helped from Obed Vargas. From Obed Vargas, you know, he says, seventeen year old kid. We had a kid at camp this week and he's from Alaska, said obed Vargas, and the kid lit up. He was so excited about Alaska player playing in the MLS. But that was a savvy
little play from our seventeen year old. Sounders were working in transition, but once again turned the ball over in LRSL working back up the left side o Viato, but he'll have to send it back to their center backs. And now it's Marcelo Silva coming back up the right side. As RSL has now held sixty eight percent possession. Right now they have you know, as we look at the heat map for this game, it is almost entirely in the Sounder's half of the field. Now switching the point of attack on to the
left, here's Oviato again. Oviad to the middle of the park finds Mazovsky, Mazovsky Cheecho Orongo, Checho Rongo trying to get past Jackson Reagan. But Reagan will just put that right on the foot of knew who who's able to clear the danger away. And as he clears the danger away, a foul called on Pablo Ruiz, who is not happy about that. The clearance came right to rawl Ruy Diaz and Pablo Ruiz fouls Raoul and the Sounders will have
a free kick from a ten yards inside their own half beat. Good play from Jackson Reagan once again they're a little combination between Orongo and Misovsky and Jackson Reagan. Poised calm gets his body in the right spot. You can't really get past that huge frame of his. Yep. We'll spend it really playing with it himself. We'll spend it like it matters by supporting BYPOC and diverse
owned businesses all year long. Visit international intentionalist dot com excuse me intentionalist dot com to find a business near you is The Sounders have possession along their back line. Jackson Reagan working with Obed Vargas in the midfield in the middle of the center circle. Now Obed running away from brian Oheida and sending it back
to new Hood knew who now on that left side. As the sounder is just trying to settle this game down with some possession, he'll find Jackson, Reagan and Checho Orongo pressing right now, Pete very high, and you wonder in this ninety eight degree heat how much they'll be able to press. As a long ball reaches Alex rolled on, Alex back to his brother Christian, and Christian wants to foul, but it's not called. He gives it away. Here's Diego Luna now coming up the left side for RSL. Now,
did you Everson Savarino? Savarino not able to control that one? Is Yammar Gomez. Andrei will send it way forward all the way to raw Ruidiaz and Rao is brought down from Brian Vera. Sounders will have a dangerous free kick about halfway into RSL's half of the field, a just pure clearance and Oviato, it appears, will receive a yellow card for this on a tackle of raw Rudias as we watch us again, Peas. Yeah, it just comes in a little bit, clips, a little bit late, clips his ankle.
Ruidias rolls three or four times. Make sure the referee knows that he got him. He got him with both legs. If if Ruidiaz gets by that he's on his way to the goal. Yeah, we're willing to see
that in slow motion from another angle. It could have been theoretically studs up, but that is a two legged sliding tackle here in the thirty fourth minute, still zero zero between your Seattle Sounders and Riali Salt Lake from America First Field in Sandy, Utah, where we are starting League's Cup action, the Sounders first match in Leagues Cup. They will face Monterey Back at Lumen Field next Sunday, July thirtieth. Tickets available Sounders fc dot Com slash tickets.
So it's a free kick that will be come right about forty yards out. Albert russnack over it and it will be dual Polo now on that short cross joal Polo sending it over at Gomez Onrati and Gomez Radi will do well to earn himself a corner. Nomas Onrati the pure there I believe, I don't Gomez Andrade was manning up that center back might have been Marcello Silver for ral saw Lake Pete, but for the Sounders, a big opportunity that free kick. And now it leads to a corner now coming on the far post.
As we see Leo Chiu Knew who roll Rudias in the box, Albert Russnak to take an in swinger from the far post. Because Albert's over it. Jackson, Reagan, Gomez Andrade both up to try to get their heads on this one. Here comes in the corner from Russnak. It is Gomezanrade getting his head on it, but he heads it far past the far post. Raw Rudiaz was there on that far post, Pete, but nothing there for
the Sounders. It'll be out for a goal kick and the RSL will quickly bring this forward as they are now trying to work in transition, but Saverino and Muzovsky they're held up now. RSL working on the right side. Here comes as an out ed and Chicho Wrongo on the right will shift it back to the left to Diego Luna, but that is intercepted well from Alex rolled
on now all the way back out for RSL. Here's Ohada crossing it off to the left again and Nelly. Back and forth we go for RSL from side to side, looking for a different point of attack, looking for an opening in this Sounder's defense, Pete, where there has been none. Seattle is doing a good job getting numbers behind the ball, forcing RSL to do
what they just did there kick the ball out of bounds. That is, once again, as we mentioned, back and forth, RSL trying to find different points of attack, so much so that they try to get a ball out on the left to Oviato and once again, and that ball goes out, it will be a Sounders throw though not a goal kick. But you're absolutely right, Pete, Well you know what's good. You're talking about the ninety eight degrees. Seattle's not over exerting themselves. They're not chasing a tremendous
amount. They're just shifting side to side at times. Vive at the back. The only guy that's coming back a lot is is Realidias because he wants that ball Sounders throw in is controlled by RSL. Roids try to get a foot in on that one, but al Salt Lake will once again have possession here and it's their captain, Marcelo Silva from the center back spot working on the right side, now bringing it up to Annelly and Ellie up to Mazowski.
Mazovsky entering the final third, back to Annelly moving into the middle of the park. Oheida ohayd off to the left. Diego Luna now working in the edge of that sounder's final third, A is trying to find a different point of attack. Here we go again, and here is Ohetas sending it all the way out to the right with Annelly and Nellie crossing it in but nobody there. Again Alex rolled On was able to just send it on. Alex rolled On. They're saying, touched that ball on the cross from Annelli.
This will go for an RSL. Throw it. Peter did not look to me like you're foreign players Seattle University. Alex rolled On touched that ball. The rest say it did, and once again the hosts have possession. As they're working in the sounder's final third, here's Saverino. Saverino with cheecho Orongo Chietirango pushed down and he goes down like a stick in the wind that, yeah, he fell down like he was nothing, and that will be
a Sounder possession. And then immediately beck Obed Vargas was kind of working and working along this the midfield there in his own half as he is just pushed down and that will be called the foul. So what we just saw there, Pete was Chicho Orongo. I mean basically, Jackson Reagan is working at
the edge of this box. Chicho Orongo dribbling to his right across the face of goal at the edge of the box, and Jackson Reagan stretches out his arm and Chicho Arongo couldn't make this up, fell down almost without being touched. Wanted a call, did not get one. And then meanwhile, oh bit of Vargas just goes and gets a call. Sounders now in possession with Joel Paulo in the middle of the park and Joel Paulo is fouled, so
another foe. Yeah, Orongo with the foul. You know, as soon as that play broke up, the referee sprinted right to Orongo saying, knock it off with your antics. But Orongo comes from behind and just pushes a JP from behind. You know, that's a that could be a yellow card question. He's starting to anger the referee a little bit. He's been very physical and he's certainly getting desperate on the offensive ent As a cross comes in from Leo Chew and that is dealt well with by RSL now popping it back
out. Here's knew Who on the left side. Sounders now getting some possession in rialso Lakes half new middle of the parts of Jual Polo over to Gamo Gomez Andrade his most advanced position today far on the right for Alex Roldan working on that right wing. He'll send it in for Juel Polo, Jual Paulo coming towards that right side working with a triangle with Alex now back out to Yamar Gomes Entrada to Vargas Oh be looking for some space in the midfield.
He'll send it out to knew Who on the left side. And now it's the Sounders finding possession in RSL's half. Thirty ninth minute here in Sandy, Utah, America, first field and no score between the Sounders and Raal salt Lake is Rol Ri Diez now has the ball at his feet and it's over all the way to Alex rold on the right side. Can you find a cross and here it comes the cross it will reach roll foot on it, but that shot not able to get anything on it, and that will be
dealt easily with from RSL. Is probably the Sounders best chance of this game. Reach Rawal Rudias, but now it's solid and transition coming back on the left side, Checho Rongo crossing it and blocked from knew who RSL coming back on that counter after that rawl Rudias shot and ultimately it is going to be for a corner as knew who deals with that well? As we see the Sounder's attack peed and unfortunately for Oh puts himself in a good position, just
not able to get enough on it. Yeah, place the ball from thirty five yards out out wide to Alex goes in and sits underneath roast snack,
but just gets his foot jammed into the ground. You're right, probably the best chance for Sa Pablo Louise to take this corner on the far stick and here it comes the inswinger sending it in head at Marcelo Silva and that will go look at ten yards above the goal bounced right in front of the stands at America First Field and Steph and Fry will have a gold kick and I was mentioning this league's Cup tournament this twenty twenty three Leagues Cup tickets are on
sale now. Support the Raeve Green as they face off with CF Monterey of Lega MX at six pm on Sunday, July thirty at EQUC Pitch at leuwin Field. This is our chance for regional domination to join us in the quest to lift another trophy. Lorimore at Sounderzewski dot com slash tickets. As step and Fry prepares for a goal kick, looks like he will send this deep as he pushes Jackson Reagan and Yamar Gomez Andrade high up the field. We're
into the forty first minute here at America First Field. No score still between the Sounders and Royal Assaut Lake. It is nil nil. You know, if you're a fan of not a fan of soccer, you're probably wondering all these different, you know, competitions that they have within the season US Open
Cup. Stoff be here, Pete is RSL and now working in the final thirt years and Nelly and Nelly on his left foot shot stay seven Fry, Ryan diving off of those out back to Mazowski and Gomez Andrade will step into that one. Another big say from Stephen Fry in the forty first minute, his third big save of this half and keeping this match zero zero. That's a great save, strong left hand. It got down really quick, had to get down quick. That shot was from about six or seven yards.
You could hear it, you know, on the microphone on the field. Fry really good. A lot of times goalies will just get a handle that it'll squirt all the way through for a goal. Forty second minute here still zero zero, but RSL want to make this one before the half. They have been on the Sounders almost the entire half with about two thirds possession.
It's currently sitting at sixty two percent RSL. The thirty eight of Seattle is a giveaway from salt Lake in the Seattle half, oh Bid Vargas working up to ral Rui Diaz. Ral has chew over on the left side, but that ball will go out of bounds too far past Leo chew Pete. Unfortunately, what could have been a nice spell possession for the Sounders before half we'll turn once again into an RSL possession. We got to see a replay of
that one. It's a great save from Fry, just making sure he gets good, good arm behind it and comeless Androtte knocks it out to Jack Spragan plays out of it easily with his salt leg again. Luna working in the midfield, Diego Luna, player of the Match day last week three one win over New York Red Bulls. He's working in the midfield now, it'll bounce out, but Alex Roldan will be able to snag that one before Oviato gets to it. And well, Donal'll send it long to roll Reds and that
is controlled very easily by Brian Vera and Marcelo Silva. I'll use Zach McMath. They're veteran goalkeeper in the back. Azar Sel will just control here in their own half for a moment. Pete, there's a good ball from Alex, just to release some pressure. There's a three minutes left in this half. Get it out of there. And I'm sure even Roy do this once those balls once in a while. He does. And that's one thing we've seen his hold up play get better and better over his time here in Seattle.
And tried to host up a center back and get on that one, but easily taken away from Brian Vera and Mark Roselo Silva as they combined there as RSL once again just taking some moments here to just pass it along their back line and try to see an angle, try to build somewhere, as they'll have Oviato, who has played so much as a almost left winger in this match. Normally they're thirty three year old left back Costa Rican international who
was with Costa Rica at the twenty and twenty two World Cup. RSL now working in the midfield. Here's Mazovsky Zovsky to a Nelly on the left back to Mazovsky trying to find Chicho Orongo trying to find Jefferson Savarino, but nothing doing, giving away through the Sounders and Joel Polo as Jual Polo will just
very comfortably send it back to Jackson Reagan. Absolutely no pressure now from Chicho Orongo and that is a giveaway from Yamar Gomez Andrade as the Sounders were passing it along their back line, trying to keep things cool and comfortable and confident. But Gomez Andrade gives it away and as we see another frustrated Bryan Schmitzer. RSL once again in possession deep in the Sounders half on the right side.
Here's Savarino, Vazovsky, Vasovsky chest it and nobody there and nothing to help Jefferson Savarino on that one, as he'll go into Stephen Fry's arms and he'll roll this ball out to new Both teams seem a little bit comfortable as we're in the forty fifth minute here. I highly doubt there's gonna be much extra mile stoppage time Pete, as both teams seem pretty confident for this match to go in zero zero at a half. Yeah, and I think Brian Schpetz will be fine with that. You know, it's a now, it's
a forty five minute game. Seattle again has had good possession at times, but they've certainly been fine with RSL dominating the possession. But they haven't they RSLs had the better chances. Fill question. If Frice come up big and Stephen Fry will make a pass to Zach mcmathew, Yes, yes, I
said that, right to goalkeeper to goalkeeper. As we are just about in the forty fifth minute, he'll still zero zero at America First field between the Sounders and Realisa Lakes starting League's Cup action here for two thousand twenty three Jackson Felton Pete viewing here. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM, your home for Seattle Centers FC soccer. And in the extra mile stoppage time is two minutes is RSL now will have a couple to try to find something.
Here's Diego Luna Luna working in the final third, trying to find an opening and Nelly on the right and Nellie back to Luna Luna looking for an angle that will be a cross hitoff game of Gomasandrade back to it to an Nellie now to Luna, no real pressure, News stepping on him. Here's back out and they're gonna switch the point of attack and try to get this off to the right. Now, center backs joining the party up to Checho Rongo
and that will be cleared away from Seattle. Christian rolled on Joel Paulo obed Vargas, not letting anything get too dangerous for RSL is they will take the ball away again. Here here's Mazovsky. Mazovsky working on obed Vargas at the edge of Seattle's box. He goes down fan's crying for a foul, players crying for a foul and one will be given a light late falcole from refre Guierramo Pacheco. As now some pushing and shoving as Chicho Orongo went down.
We see Danny Mazovsky down for RSL. Two players down as sounders, Jackson Reagan knew who Albert Russnack Duel Paul raw Rudias standing right over and now so there's some intention pushing and shoving. Here's Jackson Reagan pushing. Now this is getting very physical. This is all happening right on the very edge of the sounder's box about a yard outside Pete. As we see this play again, Yeah, Massovski takes the shot gomaz and Dradi came in very hard and got
him that. Then Orongo comes in late and Jackson Reagan is very good about keeping his head, but something must have happened because he has gotten quite animated pushing and shoving. So he is Jackson Reagan and ray Or is Yamar Gomas Andradi as well enraged right now, Yeah, Pablo Maashrani. The RSL kicks still going out, still going, Pablo Louise, Albert Russnack getting into it now as there is just an absolute scrum. Now yellow given to both Chicho
Orongo and Yamar Gomez Andrade. As it appears there will be a free kick. I'm not sure who's taking it, but there's gonna be a free kick right outside Seattle's box. Discussions still going with the referee. He was talking to both Chicho and Albert Russneck as we're watching this again. Chicho on the ground rolling and then here comes well actually with Mazowski on the ground rolling. Then Chicho Orongo comes in and then Gomez Andrade brings him in and basically throws
him down by his head. That is interesting, Pete. You wonder if if eventually this goes to var that is a dangerous moment for Yamo Gomez Andrade, specifically how he brought down Chicho Orongo. It's not exactly like Tim Mile on Christian Roldan from a few years ago, but that is a that's a hard foul there from Yamo Gomez Andradi. And you can see why he's mad, but you can also see why he received a yellow card. Yeah, yeah, Pablo Mastrani was looking at the fourth official saying go to the VR,
go look at it, get it sorted out. Yeah, this is an interesting one. We will see. Yeah, Orongo is he's an instigator, isn't it? He certainly is. We've seen both physical play. We've seen some desperation. We've seen definitely trying to egg the sounders on and make a mistake. And we will see if referee Giermo Pacheco goes to VR on this. We are currently into right now the forty fifth plus three minutes.
We see forty eight twenty two on our clock right now, as this happened all a couple of minutes ago, and there are still discussions between the referee Pacheco and Yamagomez Andrade and here's Chicho Arrongo is the players will hug They are smiling and are now cupping each other's heads. And what was a dispute with lots of pushing and shoving and there's now all smiles, Pete and they're hugging each other and apparently all as well well. And Oarngo's gonna get him again
a few minutes. I'm sure you can just tell he's a bit of an instigator. You're right, they're all hugging and having fun and laughing. But meanwhile this will be be an RSL freekick from about two yards outside Seattle's box, right near right near the middle of this box. So they will have a chance at Savarino, Chezarongo, Pablo Louise, the three of them standing
over this ball, a question of who will take it. As we're now into forty five plus five minutes here of added time, the extra mile stoppage time was just two. But after that scrum we are going far over. A big chance cross comes and hits the wall, ironically hits the Amart Gomez and Drade and that will go back out of bounds for an RSL throw after that deflection off the wall, and we will see and that will indeed be the half. So a wild ending to the first half here at America First
Field in Sandy, Utah. As Leagus Cup action begins between the Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake, it is zero zero Pete viewing your first forty five minute thoughts, Well, I think it was a bit of a chess match all the way through. I think Seattle was willing to defend, and we're watching a Wrongo and Gomez and dready walking off arm in arm, but yeah, it was an eventful first half. Stephen Fry had a lot to do.
McMath did not have a lot to do. I was surprised we only really got one cross from the right hand side and one from the left hand side. I thought RSL was pretty pretty aggressive in the attack. I think seattle'll be happy to be zero zero. Pablo Mastriani for RSL will be happy with the chances, but they certainly want to get the win while they're at home. Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show. Hello, Hello, welcome
back into ninety three point three FM studios. I am your host, Killy Dunning here with Mosvita Matta Day. Very excited to have you in studio, especially that was an insane first half. I know, zero zero. If you just saw the score line, you might be like, wow, not much happened, But I would stay quite the contrary. Mons, what did you see in the first half when you tuned in right to you a point?
If you see zero zero, you like nothing happened. But if you tuned in towards the end, obviously fireworks were going off there and you saw that kind of mellow there, and it was good that it ended with the free kick and a couple of yellow cards and everything was all right. So there really wasn't in then that last shot. So what I saw, I
think was the Sounders survive. I thought Brian Smenter really had a good plan here, and when I'm looking at what he did was in the first If you notice in the first maybe three minutes, the Sounders actually were pressing high. They were a team that was pressing high, so and that was a good message to say, look, you know what, we're not gonna sit back, which in the end it was really a cat and masking because that's
what they did. But I think it makes sense to do that early on because you just don't want to start under siege, you know, the whole half. And I think Brian Sment just such a smart coach that he gets
it. We can't go out and high press, you know, right away for the full you know, forty forty five minutes, and then what you saw there was then both teams kind of feeling each other out in the sixth eighth minute there, eighth minute, but then Rial started getting their foot in the game there, and I think part of that was the Sounder's inability to make that pass from the backblock to the middle, and so Real was jumping
on that. And both of these teams are good at the transition counterattack, and that's what you began to see in terms of reality getting a better foothold.
I would say, both feet there. You know, when Leo Chu went down, you know, sure that was a moment, but that's again at the thirteen oh when Mark, that's when you really saw realit just kind of start to take those shots and you know, and it caused the Sounders to go in the back, and you know, we got to point out Stephan fry you know, the three big saves that he had, you know,
without his those saves. Now the other ones, there were other shots that were there, but I think stephil fry was really the difference in the first half. want to see from the Sounders in the second half? Well, the obvious, get you all star player off the bench and get him in the game, and that would be Jordan Morris for your true And why I would do that is because Jordan's is just as quick, but his ability to cut inside is what you're missing right now. And that would also push Role Diaz up front. And I'll give you at the thirty nine minute mark, we saw kind of what could happen here when Alex had that crossover to rule Ri Diaz.
But in a rewol kind of stubbed its toe. But what you saw that out, I mean, Christian was also in the box. Now you add Jordan Morris in the box and it's what Brian's been saying. The team needs you. Get more player in the box and you're bound to get something on goal. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by a prominent Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. four percent possession for RSL thirty six percent for Sounders. Would you say that it's kind of a matter of time and the Sounders really need to stop just soaking up pressure and start putting their own pressure on RSL. Absolutely, And how you do that, I mean part of that was by design, But how you do that is you start being clinical when you're passing from the backblock
to the middle block and then to the lower third. That's how you now stop being so predictable and you gain a little position, but to become lethal. All right, you heard it here first, stay tuned for the second half. Jackson Feltz, former head coach Pete Viewing will be on the call

Second half, I'm about to begin from America first field in Sandy, USAH zero zero after forty five minutes between your Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake as the Sounders beginning League's Cup action, and you can catch the Rave Green back at home for the second match here of the group stage here in League's Cup. That'll be against CF Montreal or SEFF Monterey excuse me of Liga MX on Sunday July thirtieth at six pm. Watch
for free on Apple TV or on Fox Sports one. Listen right here Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM and LRA thirteen sixty in Spanish language with the Providence Swedish prematch shows starting at five thirty pm. Once again, that's next Sunday, July thirtieth for Sounders and Monterey right now it is zero zero is a reminder for Lease Cup. If this is tied after ninety minutes, we will go immediately to penalty kicks. With a win in regulation, Sounders
will get all three points. A win in penalty kicks they will get two points, when if it lost in penalty kicks, they will get one point and lost in regulation zero points. That is how this group stage works here in League's Cup, which is, by the way, the same as it works down at MLS next Pro level with the coma defiance, so that is
normal for them. Is we are now seeing a two Sounders changes Pete Feeling to begin the second half Jackson Fells Pete Feeling here Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM on the call here for Sounders, Real salt Lake here in Lease Cup. And it's actually three changes here to start the second half. First change Jordan Morris for LAYO two. That is gonna be the first change. We'll go over all these in a moment, so stay with us here as
we make changes ourselves and figure out exactly where everybody's going. So that is probably a straight swap. We would think they're on the left wing Jordan Morris for Leo Chu. The second swap, he's gonna be Dylan Tevez for Christian rolled don So Tevez, the young midfielder from Washington, he'll be coming on for Christian rolled on. And here comes josh A Tensio. Josh A Tensio now onto the field as well. I believe that was for Obed Vargas.
So three changes, Dylan TeVeS swapping on the right wing with Christian rolled on, Jordan Morris swapping on the left wing with Leo Chew, and then josh A Tensio swapping in the holding midfield there with Obed Vargus peat fieling. Lots of changes here. I can't remember the last time I saw Brian Schmenzer make three changes. His play is now underway from America first field in a zero zero game. Peat now I like it, you know, bringing a little
bit of a spark. Certainly, Jordan Morris has got some energy and his All Star you know game that he played in, he didn't take a lot of minutes on that one, so he'll be excited to get going again. As Moss said before the game, Seattle is trying to get everything right. This is another chance for George Morris to do that in a great opportunity for Tevis and we do get to rest Christian Wildam, which I like that as well. Absolutely, it's like for like with Intensio and Vargus and the Sounder's
early possession. Here with thirty seconds into the second half of this zero zero match, here between the Sounders in Rialso Lake Sandy Utah ballow up to try to reach George Morris on a run, but that will go past the end line as fast as Jordan Morris is not able to catch up to that one. But Pete yet, you know, these three changes should be mentioned, by the way. In terms of available subs. Nicholas Ladero not available for
the Sounders today. He actually stayed in Seattle this weekend. I felt some a doctor payne late in the week. It's just precautionary to stay in Seattle. Not a long term injury, we're told. But no, Nicholas Ladero off the bench for the Sounders here tonight. Hopefully he will be available for the Monterey match the following Sunday. But yeah, Brian Schmitzer, now three changes. He has two subs he can make. Obviously five subs available, so he can make two more subs, and he can do that at a
many is two more times. He could make the two a once or do them separately. So Ryan Schmenser with options with a loaded bench here as leaks could allow you a total of twenty three players on your roster for a given match. If the Sounders have possession, they'll have a throwing deep in their own zone here, Pete. I like the subs honestly, and it's quality players that are coming onto the field. And for Teva's and Intensio, it's
an opportunity that they got to take advantage of. Indeed, and josh Atensio getting into it right there, trying to get a ball up to Rolui Diaz. But that's taken back. Now it's Joel Polo Roll trying to get some legs on this one. Can he outrun Silva Canny all runs over He nearly does. Now working one of the game. Here's now josh A Tensio working
into the final third, back out to Albert Rusnack, trailing runner. Albert Russnack has brought down Roll from distance that shocks blocks Roll with the champs and an opportunity two players down for the sounders rialso Lake will come away with it after that block shot. Wild sequence there for salt Lake and for Seattle,
but all are setting now in transition. Back on the other end, here's Danny Mazovsky, Zosky Itch Torongo Tororongo Us he brought down that is a goal for RSL, and we will take a look at this one and see if it will stand. A wild sequence as Jefferson Savarino scores and he is celebrating, and this will go down as an RSL goal. In the forty eighth minute, we will have to watch this again, a wild sequence where it seemed like a couple of players thought it was a dead ball, but RSL
kept fighting, they kept going, and they get the goal. It is Jefferson Savorino. It appears slamming at home as we see this transition play after a block shot from roldsp Let's walk through exactly what happened here as RSL transitioned I just one. You know, Seattle has three chances around the edge of the box of RSL, and now within seconds it's back into show. Androngo ends up putting US shot off of Knew whose foot it appears deflected. Mazowski
chi Cho. Chicho then gets a foot to it as he's being dragged down. It deflex off and it ends up popping back out to Jefferson Savarino and Jefferson Savarino is able to just slam it past Yamar Gomez, Andrati and Stephen Fry nowhere to be found. Is he committed to Chicho Orongo a few seconds prior is new Who excuse me that that ball whizzed by? But Jefferson says
Savarino has opened the scoring. It is a forty eighth minute goal, as Riali Saltlake have taken in one nothing lead here early in the second half. A very good combination from mind me a little bit of Portland with Diego Valeri running up the field and Charo. It gets to the edge of the box, Pasofsky plays a good square ball, Orongo takes a really good perfect first touch between Gomez Andrade and Jackson Reagan gets a total a Fry makes it say
the rebound comes out and Savino what's it in? Let's look back on the other end here, because I mentioned roal Rdiez has a shot blocked. But on the initial attack from the Sounders there it looked like Rollo. Ridiaz was pulled down. No foul called. They kept play going and eventually he has to get back up, takes a shot that's blocked. Josh Atencio got into it as the Sounders now attacking on the right end. And here's Alex rolled
on working on the right. Here's Joal Polo now Jual Polo back to Alex looking for a cross in can he find a spot? Here comes the cross and it's headed away. It's gonna be oh hatus sending it back and now all the way up for RSL. Here's Cheecho Orongo working one on one with Jackson Reagan. Here comes on Drawda to help. Cheezo Rongo steps across shot
and goal. Chee Cho Orongo fifty first minute slams it past Stephen Fry and for the two Sounder defenders Jackson Reagan and Yamar Gomas on jod A p fewing they're gonna want that one back. Is Cheecho Rongo got a very long ball. It was basically a clearance from RSL on a Sounders attack. Choo gets on the end of it. He stutter steps Jackson Reagan and he slams the end of the roof of the net and just like that, in the span of a few minutes. It is now too nothing real salt Lake. Yeah,
bang bang, Holy mackerel. It's a good ball over the top. Orongo goes right at it. That's a sixty yard ball, Yeah yeah from Ruise. Rongo just takes him on the right side of the box. We'll step over, as you say, and then he smashes it in the upper v. Fry has really no chance on that. It's a great finish. Give him credit, you know exactly where he was going with it, and he released it quickly. That's frustrating for the Seattle Sounders. Two goals in
a few minutes. Chico Orongo so dangerous an MLS play. I mean, Stephen Fry. We were talking to him earlier this week at training. He talked about facing Chico Wrongo. Say he's a good player, picks his spots well, efficient with energy output, you know, looks to shoot at all times. And as we saw and all of that, check check check check cho ch'all wrong storing and Yalsa like double their lead in a few moments as they are now on the attack again, trying to get it off on the
left. Or Diego Luna, but Sounders step in front as Gomez Andrade cutting it out and now the Sounders must go forward again. With a loss here right now to nothing, they would get zero points out of this match. They can get it back to two two and get it to penalty kicks after ninety minutes they would have the chance to earn two points. So they must be on the front foot here for the final forty minutes or so of this match. It's now on the right side, Alex rolled On working on the
right. Here's josh A Tensio joining and this triangle with Dylan Tevis, Jual Paulo and now RSL will take this away inside their own final third and it will go out for a RSL throw. We are into the fifty third minute here at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, where it's not only ninety six degrees speat viewing and the streal Salt Lake leading this to nothing as it appears, Seattle will be making the substitute one of their final two remaining substitutes
available, Brian Spencer making it here in the fifty third minute. It will be a Bisa Soco, Seattle's third center back, and we you know We're talking to Brian Spencer before the game and Yemo Gomez Andrade and Brian made it clear to the press conference yesterday as well that Gomez Andrade was dealing with a couple of minor things. He still started this match, but a Bisa Soko
would be available and ready to play if needed. And appears that Absa Soko is preparing to indeed come into this matchpe feeling Yeah, you wonder now, I mean that was very deflating. Seattle gets a good start right from the beginning of the half. Really Dias gets a chance inside the box and then bang bang two goals and how you start looking ahead and here is the sub Absa Soko coming in for Yamo Gomez Andrade as we thought it would be.
So the Absa Soko twenty three or ab Soco twenty three years old, a six three center back. We'll mention he is the absolute best. I don't kick take her on the entire roster. Perer way to Webber really quite outstanding at it's but a Visasoko will be now standing at that center back spot beside Jackson Reagan for the remaining but thirty seven minutes and stoppage of this match Bee viewing. Yeah, I think Seattle's got to get a goal pretty quick or
else RSL's just gonna park the bus. They've got to find some way to get whether it's wing play, whether it's finding real ideas in combination and Ruce knack. But Seattle's got to create something. They got to get a goal to get back in this one. Well, they have possession right now in the RSL half kicking it around. Is Gomez Andrade, Jual Paulo standing next to him. Now Jual Paulo looking for a lane, not able to find one. Back out to Gomez Andrade, Alex Will Darn on the right,
Jual Polo in the middle, trying to find a lane. Now here's Dylan Tevas on the right. Cheves will cross it in but at cross will go all the way out free RSL throwing Jordan Morris cannot get at the end of that one. Who is Dylan TeVeS sent that all the way to the other side in too far? It's just too much. You can see a little
bit of frustration on George Morris's based on that one. He's got to get gotta not go so deep, not just deep to the other side of the box, but deep toward the end line as well, So we need a little better from Dylan Tevas on that forty eighth minute goal from Jefferson Savorino, fifty first from Chicho Orongo and Real Salt League leading to nothing. Here in
the fifty fifth minute, leagu's cut beginning for these two clubs. Here's this new tournament between Major League Soccer and League MX is roll Ruy Diaz now working on the edge of his own final third now shot from distance. McMath will catch that one. Rudiez puts a shot on goal, but no trouble there for the RSL keeper. Yeah, I think Ruid is not a great angle. I think it's a little bit of frustration. Wants to get a shot up and try to get something going for the Sounders. RSL now will have
possession. We mentioned that Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Now a turnover for r s L. Jo Al Pollo on the left side, JP bringing it up for Seattle looking for some space but closed down very quickly, and it's Brian o'heeda coming up and getting in the face of draw polo, it will be out for a Sounders throw and up comes knew Who for that throw. As a Sounder try Sounders
try to bring numbers forward. Pete viewing. We talked in the first half about not getting enough numbers forward to bring new who up for this throw and now knew Who looking to cross it in. But he will earn a corner.
New a good job there going right at Ryan o'heeda and will earn himself the corner for the Sounders here in the fifty sixth minute, and for Brian Schmenser sitting on the bench talking with his coaching staff with Precy, with Tommy Doutra, Freddy Warez and he Rose try to figure out the combination to get
them a goal. Here comes the crossing from Russnack and that will go way far, way far out for an RSL throwing on the complete other side, about ten yards from their own line, and Pete viewing, Brian Schmenser can only shake his head, Yeah, I think he's been fresh traded with some of the lack of quality. That one right there. It's a great opportunity.
And before the corner kick was taken, I thought, boy, if Seattle can get a goal here they're right back in it, but it's there is a little deflating when that ball goes all the way out for a throwing on the other side of the field. Now it's not good enough service.
And with the Sounders right now they're watching an RSL transition Savarino and that passed to Orongo is just two farts joal Paulo recovering it in transition now or the Sounders and josh A Tensio finds something Nope, given away in the midfield and RSL now we'll have it all the way back with Zach McMath. They'll send it up on the right side for an alleys. RSL now in possession, Sounders are putting a man forward further. We see Albert Russnach is Seattle right
now shifting back into their four four two when they defend. We know Alex Roldan gets up and it shifts into kind of a three two four one in attack for the moment, Seattle right now in a defensive positioning and they pass down the right side. We'll give the sound of throwing and knew who and Jackson Reagan coming down for this throwing as the clock is nearing the fifty ninth
minute here Pete viewing time. You know, for the Sounders, you know, you don't want to have to go get two goals in the final ten minutes of this game. You'd like to be able to to get them over the stages here in the final half hour. You know, was just a few days ago. Was the anniversary about eight years ago, I want to say, And it was the game against DC United where the Sounders were down three nothing and scored three goals I think, but four goals actually to come
back and beat DC United four three. It was at the time the first time in MLS history a team and come back from three goals down in the second half to win a game four to three. If the Sounders can put some magic around that again today, just a little bit after that anniversary, that sure would be great. Rsl working in possession here in the Sounders half, Diego Luna working alongside Ryan o'heida, and they'll switch it off to the
left side. Now ringing it up on the left side, she chill orongo in the midfield, right on the edge of a bissoko o. We're to Jefferson Salverino. Salverino you're doing Nelly, and Nelly Cross comes in and getting a foot to it as Alex Roldon. Alex Roldan will slide that back to
the middle of a park as a sounder's clear the danger. RSL totally in control right now, keeping possession of the ball, doing what they want, shifting its side to side, still creating opportunities and RSL coming down the right side, but and Nellie will not be able to control that one. It's out for a sounder's throw new back to Jackson Reagan, and Regan will try to cross this field all the way over to Alex Roldon on the right side.
Yeah, that that DC game was very, very important for the club at that time, and Seattle could certainly use, you know, getting a couple of goals and tying this baby up. So they've got to get a spark. You know, you've talked about two guys up front. It was Roostneck alongside Realidas and now we' see Tavis. I'd love to see Jordan Morris get up and run Jordan Morris and Ruidias together. I don't know who goes on the left to cover that, but I'd like to see Jordan get high
up in the build as well. Seattle working with possession. Here here's Raoul, but ral will not give it away. He will earn and that is actually gonna be a straight red card to RSL. Marcello Silva, the captain for RSL, the thirty four year old six two center back from Mercedes Uruguay, has seen a red card. He will go down on that tackle the raw Ruidiaz. It looked like a giveaway, but in came the referee, Guieromo Pacheco straight held up the red and Marcelo Silva, RSLs captain, who
has a career one hundred and twenty four games for Real Salt Lake. He will be missing. And now thirty minutes remaining in this game, Pete Seattle will be a man up. Now is the time they need to go and score a couple. Yeah, no question. We get to see a replay of it here, Let's see what happens. Stucks up right into his ankle is a that is absolutely a red as we see he steps on yep, studs up right into raw REDI as ankle. Absolutely, that is a red
card. No argument to make there, despite the fact that Marcelo Silva will make it. That is very painful for all the das dangerous. Listen, that's a broken ankle waiting to happen, isn't it. Well, Goodness certainly is. As we know he is a tough kid, as Bryan Spencer says. But Marcelo Silva will leave the field, such a big part of the real AsSalt Lake defense and he will be gone. And now you will certainly
expect Pablo Mastrini. He fewing to make it change as they are playing with ten men and they need to get another defender on the field, as Seattle will no doubt start pressing hard to get a goal. They are down to nothing to nothing. RSL at America first field in standing Utah as Lescau's beginning matched now in the sixty second minute, pete as now sounder, excuse me,
let me just get in here. As this cross comes in, punched away from Zach McMath, still controlled from the Sounders, Jual Paulo heads it back in. Now it's a Bisasko trying to get on it. Here's Dylan Tevez. Dylan Tevez. Will he be fouled, Yes he is. Sounders will have a dangerous free kick here ride outside the corner of the box Pete viewing this will be a really opportunity here. I mean from this angle should probably be Albert Russneck. You'd think there's a lot to go on here viewing
Sounders playing a man up. You expect oursel to make a change. But meanwhile, this free kick about to come from a very very dangerous spot. Yeah, that you can see. Russneck is already talking to a few players. They've got an idea of what they want to do. They had a great restart, three great restarts at Vancouver, getting three goals there and one of them from this kind of angle. So we'll see what they decide.
They've been quite organized on these. Well, here's Russnack. It will be and Alic Swinger is he has a Bisasko Jackson Reagan, the big body center backs standing in there. Reagan looks like he's going to be at the back post. Is Yes, here comes the RSL change right now. Before this free kick, it'll be Justin Glad. Justin Glad, who feels like a veteran a MLS. He's only twenty six years old. Signed is a homegrown in twenty and fourteen with RSL Major League Soccer debut in twenty fifteen, at
just eighteen years old, became a regular starter. The next year, twenty seven starts. In that next year six one at a Tucson, Arizona peth Hewing. Justin Glad, who obviously has mentioned as well has local ties, comes in as a as a RSL center back in what should be about a four four one now for RSL, and we can talk about Justin Glad in a moment. Here comes the free kick from Albert Russnack because he holds his hand up and here comes the kick, and we'll go short Rolleridyz Rud yes
from distance and it's blocked. Looked like Oviato blocked that one from ROLLERI Diez and the Sounders will let's go all the way back. Account to Stephen Fry as RSL is shifting their formation, Checho Rongo out of a game, and Justin Gladden Pete viewing, well, I like the idea right there. Good combination. Trying to play Jordan Morris through. That's the first you know,
diagonal ball that tried to slip him in. Going back to the red card referee was straight to the red There was no question whatsoever to be Yeah, we saw the replay you could see it as well, and it's We're very fortunate Rule Roul is still on the field. Well. Sounders now building up on the left side. Here's Albert Rusnack. Albert Russnack to the middle to Roll rd Yes who's now playing basically as a holding midfielder. They need numbers
up. They do have Jordan Morris who's at the top of this formation. A Bisa Soko now off ont of the right for Alex Roldan who passes it just behind Dylan TeVeS and Kilan TeVeS kid from Washington able to get it back. Teva's twenty three years old, four years with the University of Washington Huskies. As you dub went to the Final four a couple of years ago. And Albert on the right side, Alex Roldan looking through a lane to cross, but he'll have to send it back out to josh A Tensio to Jual
Polo in the middle. Jual Polo trying to get bodied off the ball by Brian o'heyda. Joel Polo watches a foul called looks at the refereegue. It's nothing. Jackson Reagan now bringing it up. Reagan in an advanced position over to knew Who on the left, Knew Who some stutterstep looking for some space creates it, hits it off and that will be a corner for the Sounders. Knew Who creating that corner on Annelly. A good attacking movement there from
knew Who. Yeah, I like it. He's getting higher up the field, trying to take people on. It's a good thing. You know, you were mentioning Justin Glad. I think he was born in this area and then and then went to Arizona. But he's a good dominant center back, very similar to Jackson Reagan. Justin Glad been in this league for so many years. Is here comes the crowd corner from Albert Rusnack. He'll go out
to the top to Josh a Tensio. Tensio will cross it in but easily headed away there by a Nelly. Now we'll go out for a Sounders throw, but yards fifteen yards from the halfway line in the Sounders end sixty fifth minute here at America First Field, RSL two Sounders, nothing and center fans.
If sunders FC scores any time after the eighty eighth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free lasic surgery from Sharp Vision, Modern Lazy and lens fign up today at Saunders fc dot com slash laser focus. As sunders now look to build on the left, here's Knew who again and now here comes josh A Tensio back down to knew who, knew who at the edge and knew who will try to force another corner, but this time and Ellie deals with it well and he will send it out for a
sounder's throw. This time it's not a corner. He fewing knew tried to just do the same thing over again. But you know, going back to the corner a minute ago from Rusnaki and we've seen that a couple of times, sending it all the way back out as this ball I should mention back out to the left on knew who. Here we go again, knew who on an Ellie and he'll go all the way back out to Jackson Reagan this time. But these these corners bee feeling, I'd like to see balls going
into the box. You have height with Jackson Reagan and it is six three abisa soko, but he's crosses to going to the top of the box there with that that one to josh A Tensio. I don't know. Personally, I'd like to see more balls going into the box. Yeah, I understand that, And I thought josh A Tensio was in a little bit of two
minds right there. I think he wanted to take the shot. He had that absolute cracker earlier in the season with Saint Louis, and you could see that he was thinking about it. He was just left side of the box at the edge, but then went with a cross and it fell short. You're right, get the numbers in there and see if we can get something out of it. Abisa Soko is a load, he's a big man, yes, yeah, and then you've also you've got josh In Tensio as well,
and but the Sounders are trying to mix it up. Looked they looked very organized in the last year restarts, they just didn't get anything out of it. We Abisa Soko one start two games this year and getting this opportunity. Here is Gamemar Gomez on drawd. He exited once substitute left for head coach Brian Schmitzer. We'll see how he used it in the final twenty three minutes in stoppers time Joel follow sending across way over to Alex rolled On.
Rolled On has space and Alex trying to find it. But you have in a way done well there though by the RSL defender, and that will be a foul Diego Luna. Good job by die Luna to first take that ball away from Alex rolled On and then second pick up that foul is RSL will have a free kip right at the edge of their own box. That's a good ball, good switch point of attack, hitting it out wide to Alex in a dangerous area. Unfortunately, just couldn't get the cross up and then
ended up fouling. We're into the sixty eighth minute here we all saw like still leading to nothing. Jackson Felt's Pete viewing. You're on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM for the first of this League Cup game. Sounders will have a second match in the group stage against CF Monterey next Sunday, July thirtieth. Tickets available Sounders fc dot Com slash tickets check that out is
Seattle. You know, losing here, you'd think absolutely must win against SEFF Monterey the following Sunday, as RSL will call for a foul as they looked to advance the ball into the final third, but no foul called and sounders now working with possession Jackson Reagan, Alex Roldan and Joel Polo binding right at the edge of the center circle and now way off to Jordan Morris, but just too far for Jordan Morris to get onto the end of a Jual Polo
long ball. Sounders have been so accurate p filing with long passes this year. I note it here. You know, they're near the top of MLS, fifth in MLS with fifty four long ball passing percentage, But unfortunately that does not reach it and the man who made that pass, Jual Polo, will be exiting the match here in the sixty nine minutes or a bear, So a bear a forward coming into this match right now with twenty minutes to go for JP he Fewing. How do you think that this changes what Brian
Schmitzer is trying to do here on the offensive end? Is it a formation or you just send everybody forward and see what you can get. Well, what it looks like right now is JP excuse me as really das at the edge of the box and a bear at the edge of the box. So maybe it's trying to make sure that so we'll keep those numbers up higher they might as well, and then and then just basically go four four two.
Yeah, that's that seems to be what it's looking like. But right now the Sounders front five includes Dylan TeVeS, Albert Russnack, Jordan Morris, a Bear, and raw Ri Diaz, all of role. The role will go from ninety minutes tonight starting here at Salt Lake, a big outing as the Sounders find themselves down a couple goals with twenty minutes to go. Working now in RSL's half, here's a Bisasoco sosoko with Albert Russnack. Russnik will send
it over on the right side. Here's Alex rolled on, rolled on looking to cross it in. Can't do it and have to just pass it off to Dylan Tevez and al Russnack. Dylan Tevez Alex rolled on on the right. This time he can send across in. It will go back post in Jordan Morris just above Jordan Morris's head. Now ball will go out for a realis Salt Lake throws that cross came in and knew tried to spring and get that before I went out of bounds. Not able to get on the end
of that one. But if you look at the replay Pete viewing at cross, Alex rolled on just a little too high for Jordan's head. Yeah, just a little bit too much, but I like it. You know, there's more numbers inside the box. There's there's Knew who's up much higher now. So Seattle's pressing a little bit. Two subs here coming in for Royal Salt Lake. We got Rubio rabin and here's Anderson of Fulio. We're going to be coming into this game now for Royal Salt Lake, we'll see what
the changes are. And also another change its Bode Hidalgo coming in so Diego. Luna got a good game, just a really nice play defensively a few moments ago coming out of this match. He will come out, you see. He was also Danny Mazoski coming out for Rubio Rubins. So Rabine takes his spot at the forward position. Pete viewing a couple of say, straight
looks like straight swaps there ur Real Salt Lake. And at the end of the day, for Seattle, you got to find a way to break down RSL, and there was three fresh legs coming on for the hosts, will certainly help them to close this thing out. With nineteen minutes ago. The
second half has gone very quick as yes it has. It just seems to be flying by and started out great for RSL hitting those two quick goals, and it will be throwing fur Real Salt Lake in their own half of the field, and Nellie will throw this in headed by josh A Tensio and eventually controlled by Real Salt Lake. And here is the new man on the field, Rubio Ravine. And we see the new positioning here for RSL, not
exactly parking the bus pee viewing they are. They're looking offensive. You know, at the end of the day, you look at how this group stage works here for League's Cup. If you're tied on points, it is just like any other tournament. It is gold differential as a tie breaker. So RSL, maybe you're looking at this one saying to nothing, we believe we can go get three nothing and you know, hopefully they over commit guys and
the centers can get them on transition. But for right now, Seattle has to figure out a way because eighteen minutes to go and the Sounders right now, working without Nicholas Fladero, without Juel Paulo, Can they find can they find one goal to start giving them hope here in this match. Hey, you know, you talk about how Seattle has not one here at RSL, and maybe that starts creeping into the mind. In the seventy third minute, I didn't want to bring that stat up, I had the style listed,
I didn't. I didn't want to bring it up. But since you did, well, it starts to come out, you know, and players start to think, you know, it starts to creep into their mind that hey, maybe they're not gonna get it right. One goal, Seattle comes right back in it. Josh Tencio working in the midfield for the Sounders, you know, off to a Visa Soco on the right, back to a Tensio. A Tensio will change the point of attack over to the left side for
Jordan Morris. Morris, now will he run it an Nelly? Now he'll send it back out to knew who knew who looking for an outlet, but has to just once again go back to Jackson Reagan Reagan order. Dylan TeVeS all the way to the right side for Alex Roldan sunder Is switching the point of attack again, altback centrally rush snack Albert's josh A Tensio. A Tensio shot from distance, It is just wide left. Josh A Tensio. We mentioned a few minutes ago the goal he had from distance against Saint Louis back
on April eight. Josh A Tensio had eyes for gold from about twenty three yards out and that ball sails just a few yards a few yards above the crossbar. Pete viewing. Saunders haven't had many chances today, but josh A Tensio just time to try to create some magic with sixteen minutes left and a two nothing RSL lead. Yeah, I like it. I like that he's got the confidence to do what he takes it with his left foot and they'd be a foot high, just over the corner of the of the goal,
and he's got to keep looking to hit those. I thought that was probably as good as strike as we've had on target. One ball from a math is brought down from Reagan, now up to new who is knew who brings it in to the RSL half josh A Tensio. Now a Tensio will cross it off to the right, Abisa Soko getting involved in Now RSL is half Sanders committing guys forward. It's clear. Now now back to knew who on the left side. Knew Who's cross will come in, It will bend and
it will go out for a goal kick. I like that ball. It's a good ball. Maths scan His line just doesn't get get through. Maybe it's a miscue between the two, but it's a good ball from who. As you watch this play, pe female break this down like you would have head coach. You know, we see here knew who with that cross coming in? Is it? Is it Jordan Roll and a Bear not making that
run? Is it them not committing not believing that that cross would be as good as it was, because that was an excellent cross, but at the end of the day, there was no runners to get on the end of that. Yeah, that's it. It's just not not believing that it's going to get to that spot on the field. And you know that's what happens if you're not used to seeing across like that. That's a good ball. The next time they'll start looking for hard foul there on a long kick.
It's a visa Soko getting fouled hard. He is down and quickly getting back up as the Sounders were in possession and all in transition. AB's up in rocking and rolling. Here's Albert Russnack. Russnack over to the left side, Jordan Morris. Morris has to send it back out to new who Sounders a lot of negative play passing back here towards midfield, not a lot of positive and that ball is positive from a Visa Soko, but he'll go straight through
between the defenders and Dylan TeVeS out for a goal kick. And the Sounders are out of substitutions right now. Right now, we see on the field forwards and rawl ready as a bear, Jordan Morris playing up, Albert Russnack, Dylan Tevez, Josh a Tensio, Alex Roldn playing in the midfield. And then they have a Visa Soko, Jackson Reagan and knew who in the back, knew who getting far up on that way side Stephn Frisen goal. That's what the Sounders have out on the field right now, trying to find
just one to give them some hope. It's too nothing real saw Lake seventy six minutes here America First Field, Jackson, Felt and Pete viewing here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM as a minder, Keely Unning and Masvita Matta Era. We'll have the post match show coming up after tonight's match.
Well, they'll break down the action and look ahead to the CF Montreal match coming up a week from tomorrow back at Louman Field, where the Sounders it appears, may need a win in order to advance out of the group stage here of League Cup. They do need to be one of the top two teams in this group. We will of course be watching Wednesday's match between RSL
and Monterey very closely because that will no doubt affect the Sounders. And now over on the right side, Alex Roldan sending across in it's to Josh Atensio a Tensio. We'll try to flick it over to Ruby Diaz, but controlled by RSL, cleared away back out to Jackson Reagan and now RSL in possession, but they will very simply give that away to Albert Russ Snack and here come the Sounders again, trying to build forward here in the seventy eight commute,
here's a bear a bear on the right side Alex Roldanni. He has an outlet in Dylan Tevis won't use him. Rolled on Alex ord a bear a bear crossing it in nobody at the end of that one headed away from Annelly and RSL will bring it back out. It's Justin Glad getting far up the field as Justin Gladnow it's gonna be the most advanced player for Real Salt Lake on josh A Tensio and well done there. Actually it's not. I shouldn't say, hey, that's it's not Hidalgo. It's Boat Hidalgo getting way
way up from his position as well as defender position. He was the most advanced player for RSL for a moment. I mistook member nineteen for number fifteen. Justin Glad and it's Boat Hidalgo earning a foul in Seattle zone. They're seeing. Yeah, they're similar shape and size and hair color and you can see why. But that's great from him coming in off the bench. That's
exactly what Pablo Master and he wants them to do. Dobble up some space, keep possession of the ball, battle when you lose it, to get it back and start to take the air out of what the Sounders had been doing for the past five minutes. So that's a good You always love it when your subs come in into their job, absolutely so sounders now in possession. Passing along the back line at the center circle is Jackson O. Reagan with the ball back and forth with Albert Russnack now up to josh A Tensio.
A hard touch, but people to keep possession here Dylan Tevez looking on the right wing, Josha Tensio in the midfield. Now I'll about Russnak Rusnak looking for some area of space. He'll try to dish it into a bear, but it's taken away from RSL. And now a long ship from the other side of the field, and it looked like but I'm not sure who that was for RSL, but they were right at the edge of their own
box. Tried to send it all the way as Anderson Julio. Anderson Julio tried to basically a shoot from about eighty yards out peep you again, Chip Stephen Fry and it went to well wide of gold Well. He saw something for sure. He was so far away we couldn't see Steph in the frame of the screen. But he must have seen Steph off his line. And here's a ball in Anderson Julia, will you get on the end of this
one? He will in the box working on a Visa Sogo some hold up play here, here's back to oh Haito Hedo shot and he's diving it just wide. Stephen Fry diving to his left and thankfully that ball goes just wide of the net. And this match stays two two in the eighty and the eightieth minute Pete viewing. Yeah, Stephan knew exactly where he was on the goal and it's a good shot, but he just stepped balls out of it once he knows it's best post. How was just wide from Brian o'hada Stephen
Fry. If that was on target, Stephan Fry would have gotten a hand to it. Now sounders back in attack. Albert Rusnack intercepted Hast trying to get Alex Rolldon on the right wing, but just goes right RSL, RSL give it right back new working in the midfield. Now it's Rusnack back at the center circle, overrunder the right side. Dylan Tevez advancing into the final third Seattle finds something. Alex rolled on back to the middle of the park
for Rusnack. Rusnack shot blocks and it's once again Brian o'haida doing it on both ends today for RSL. Alex rolled onto Dylan TeVeS into a bear. A bear lays out to TeVeS. Tevis cross blocked corner coming for Seattle. It appears that will be a corner for the Sounders in the eighty first minute. And now Brian Vera who blocked that appeared cross from Dylan TeVeS in the box as we see again Pete viewing, I'm not sure why Brian vere is so mad about this. That is a Saunders corner. See you say that
it comes off Dylan TeVeS is and I a might he's fishing. He is certainly fishing, and there's not a lot of fish in that bond. No Albert russ Snack. We'll take this out Swinger corner and he'll send it back out to Alex Roldan Alex back to Russ Snack fifteen yards from his end line. Cross comes in. There's new getting ahead to it and knew who sends it in the exact opposite direction that you wanted it is out for a goalkis
a good idea. You're trying to get the defense to move and try to unpack the middle of the box, and but across is a little bit deep and probably not the ideal target. You knew who well, you also had Jackson Reagan there and you know, I'm not sure who the exactly that was going to. But he listen, knew who got what he could on that one. He had to jump real odd just to get a touch on that one. But Zach McMath will take this for a goalkick and certainly taking his
time right now. The veteran goalkeeper two hundred and six mls starts for Zach McMath long career Philadelphia, Colorado, Vancouver. He has spent many, many many years in this league and he does them. Our play there to drag some time is the now Sounders. After that long kick, we'll have control on their back line. Albert Russnach, who has been everywhere all day today on both ends trying to find something for the Sounders, continued offensive issues today.
Nothing in the back of the net for Seattle is real salt Lake, who is by the way, still playing the man down. It has not felt like a real salt Lake playing a man down, leading to nothing. You're in the eighty third minute and that has cut aside. A Bisa Soko trying to find a ball in but it's intercepted well and now here coming. A real salt Lake on the other end, cross comes in and a Bisa Soco does well to just slide it out of balance for an RSL throw in
ten yards from the end line. P feeing. Yeah, Seattle just not quite getting the rhythm that they need. And you know it's the eighty third minute. The heat may be a factor, there might be some elevation, but you've got to give RSL credit. They've been very good. We're getting that goal in the forty eight minute. The fifty first minute really puts the Seattle under and RSL is doing what they've been doing at home for a long
long time. Yep, and theyrett putting teams away. They are indeed leading to nothing six minutes and stoppers to go is Jasper both and Send now joining the field. He'll come in for Pablo Reise. That's a straight swap in the midfield, more of a defensive midfielder and local Send coming in for Ruise. Pablo ruise coming out of this game after a long hard shift. As now the Sounders taking it away from RSL deep in their own half. It's
Albert Russnack if Josh Atensio just finding some space there. Back to Jackson Reagan in the middle of the Sounders box out to knew who on the left side, bringing things forward, looking for some emergency long ball to Jordan Morris. But long ball though, we'll go all the way to Zach McMath and the veteran goalkeeper will pick it up, take a few more seconds off the clock
before rolling it out on the right side. And here's an Nellie. Nellie will be foul by a bear And now they're really gonna take a few seconds here off the clock beat viewing. Yeah, not a necessary foul at all, just a little clip from behind ourselves. Happy like you said, to take the time off the clock. They do this very very well. Pablo Mastriani. You know we've seen it with Ben Olson going to Houston, right, he had had a had a great career playing for DC United and was
at DC United. Pablo went to the Colorado Rapids. But he's really done a good job in his second stint with his second club, just like Ben Olson at Houston with the Dynamos. So they're organized, they've got talent, they've got grit and uh lethal on the two goals tonight, cho Orongo getting the goal in the fifty first minute before that a few minutes before that,
ever since Savno finishing off a wild sequence. Those are Rsel's two goals that came right after the half began, and the Sounders did go a man up a red card to Marcello Silva, RSL's captain in the middle of the second half, but despite playing the man up, Sounders have not been able to do anything with it. We're in the eighty sixth minute now from America First Field in Sandy, Utah, Salt Lake leading this match still by a score
of two to nothing. Jackson, Felts and Pete viewing here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM, as the Sounders not sure I'll work into the final third, but given away very easily again in Salt Lake. Will once again build a long ball there? Can they find boat to Hidalgo. No, it's gonna be new defending well, but give it up to Hidalgo. Nidalgo one on one and that's a saved from Stephen Fry. Hidalgo was one on one with Stephen Fry, and Hidalgo put that right on Fry's chest,
not even making him dive left or right. Nidago didn't make him work at all. That's about as easy of a save as you'll see Fry have all year. Yeah. I think they ended up calling the foul on Nidalgo with new Oh good, because it was I was wondering if they were gonna call that. Yeah right, ran it out to the edge of the box, put it down and played and so all for nothing for Adalgo. But you're
right, he didn't try to tuck it anywhere. Yeah, what happened on that play was Nidalgo basically drags down knew Who is keeping him off the ball. That's the only way to beat knew Who when he's defending you, I suppose, And thankfully the foul called sounder is still down to nothing. Few minutes to go, trying to commit men forward, but Roludiaz is basically playing as a center back right now, standing beside knew Who and Jackson Reagan.
He's got to get forward, Sissoko into the box, try to fring some combination play, but it will end up at the feet of Zach McMath and a bear is standing right over him. And you know, Zach McMath's gonna take an extra second on that one because when he has a player standing over him, p feeling, there's no reason to get up. Yeah, he's smart, like you said, he's been two hundred plus games in the MLS. He knows how to get rid of this clock. And now there's just
less than three minutes to go. Tough one. It's interesting to see, you know, sort of philosophy. And there's RSL now in the sounder's box looking for a cost coming in. It will be Rubine. Rubin will side it past Stephen Fry, and that will be the nail in the Sounders coffin to nights. An eighty eighth minute goal from Rubio Rubine, the twenty seven year old forward from beaverts And, Oregon, will beat Stephen Fry and here
in the eighty eight it is now real. Salt Lake three Sounders nothing And unfortunately for Seattle, they will have a flight home from Salt Lake City, Utah heat viewing and it will not be a fun flight. No, it's tough. They're gonna be really dejected in this locker room. And you know a lot of things, like I said a few minutes ago, start creeping in. Playing at RSL is difficult. This goal comes from like math, just blasting it, hunting it out. As we see here is Anderson Julio
who tries to find He tries to find Rubine. We see the pass defl off of Jackson Reagan actually so Abizasoko was defending that well. It takes the deflection off of Reagan and Ruby or Ravine does well to adjust to that ball just turns, turns again and is able to slide it past Stephen Fry who dove to his left, but goes into the bottom right corner of the goal and it is three nothing RSL. They were playing a man down and they
scored again. And a disappointing start to League's Cup for your Seattle Sounders. We have talked about getting more offensive execution, getting more on the offensive end for a number of weeks. Now you got Christian roll don back he started tonight. You got Jordan Morris, Becky came off the bench, and yet nothing for the Sounders in the back of the net. As Brian Schmenzer. He's talked to press conferences about trying to find his best starting formation Pete viewing,
and he will try to continue to find that best formation. You know, we looked at back to MLS play coming up, you know, in a month Atlanta, August twentieth. You know, hopefully by then, Brian Schmencer has that lineup as ten games of the season to roll forward towards the playoffs. But tonight certainly serves as learning experience. Yeah, well we have proven goal scorer's no question about that. Morris has got nine to his credit. Teb you know, Ruidiaz doesn't have as many this year, four,
but he's certainly is a lethal goal scorer. So it's maybe not finding the right combination. It's just getting those guys hot again, getting them confidently down. So, but maybe it is playing with the four four two. We'll quickly note that, you know I mentioned the return of Jordan Morris. He did not start, He came off the bench. So Sounders have not seen both Jordan Morris and christ Roaldun starting together in quite a while. So you
look at that maybe those two starting together, we'll be the answer. We'll see if that does indeed happen next Sunday against CF Monterey in the next group stage match of the League Cup. This is Josh a tensio working outside the sounder's box. Al't roll don on the right see all now, just playing for a goal. Pride the extra mile stoppage time three minutes here sladders at three minutes to find a goal and you look at it, you know,
potentially goal differential, playing a role for a tiebreaker. That goal could mean something depending on what happens Wednesday between CEFF Monterey and RAYL Saltwake. That's a ball into the box headed from a tensil and Zach McMath will fall on that no real point of danger there for RSL as the goalkeeper will just lay on that ball and he may be laying on that bell ball to the morning. Yeah. You know, I think Brian will be disappointed with the third goal
that was given up with Reuben because McMath just smashed it forward. We saw the exact same thing happened at Vancouver for their second goal. Yep, long ball flick got napping a little bit at the back or a little bit flat square and then you know RSL getting through Vancouver getting through so some some very important things to clean up, and given the ball away. We have given give the ball away again quite a few times, that way too much.
Today is now seves foul and that's a free kick coming for RSL and the Sounders half of the field is. We are now into the ninety second minutes. Sounders zero, Real Salt Lake three. You're at America First Field and Sandy, Utah. This score update presented by Providence, Swedish Racial Healthcare, partner of Seattle Sounders FC. So we'll be a disappointing result for the Sounders, but they are not out of it. The win over CEFF Montreal and
if results go right Wednesday SEEFF Montreal and al Salt Lake will play. Sounders can definitely advance to the knockout round here in League's Cup. They still have a shot at this thing. So look forward to seeing you all out next Sunday there at Looming Field for Sounders and Monterey may said Montreal, they're touched by SULF. This is League MX versus MLS here in the League's Cup. Yes, I knew I was gonna mess that up once today when I was
practicing. That's all right, you're forgiven you got it right last time. So we just saw Bryan Schpenzer. Losing is awful. It's it's stuff on a coach, right, it's stuff on the players, the families and all that. You just see the disappointment because this is an exciting thing. It's a new thing for MLS and you certainly want to get out and get some success right from the beginning. As you say, the game with Monterey next
week is the opportunity to get right back in the thick of it. But it is hard when the team's not performing the way you know they can, and then you're always looking for answers, sleepless nights for coaches. And there is the final whistle here in America, first Field in Sandy, Utah, and for your sounders, it ends in defeat. Final score is three. Nothing that's copyrighted audiocast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced,

It will be CF Montreal next Sunday, July thirtieth, back at Luminfield, Monterey not Montreal. I'm not sure why I keeps saying that Monterey lumin Field. Well, want to thank Mexico versus Canada, Okay, exactly, Well by end that night by making that mistake, then so be it.
I want to thank everybody with the broadcast tonight. As our broadcast director, Pete Fewing, great to be with you here today, Thank you so much. Yeah, it's fun. It's great. Great to see the uh the team playing again. But that is a tough loss for Seattle and they've got to bounce back that.
There was a term we used about three or four years ago, bounce back ability, right and they've got a y that right now now The good news is it's not a Wednesday game. Monterey and RSL are gonna have that. So Seattle is going to get a week's a week's rest and hopefully they can get it right. But it's gonna be a tough locker room. And as you say, a long flight home to the long flight home. Indeed for your Sounders thank you to Pete Few and Keely, Donning, mazitamunta Ere and
Mitchell Blay on the board tonight. My name is Jackson felts Me. Thank you so much for listening tonight once again from America. First fielding Sandy Utah. It is a final score of three nothing. RSL, Keely and Mas have the postmatch show come up next on Sports Radio at ninety three point three

I sighed pretty loudly before that started. I don't think my mic was on yet though, so I think we're good. You didn't get to hear me exasperatedly sigh. Um. Very tough start to Leagues Cup. Unfortunately Sounders fall to Real Salt Lake three nil. I am here with Mas Monday eight Ay and head coach Pete viewing. I will always call you head coach Pete always, thank you. I know she's still with Seattle. You as what
athletic assistant athletic associate athletic direct social special projects. Thank you very much, thank you very much. But I will always just call you, thank you always. I'll take it. Thanks. Uh. So I started the postmat show with a SI, how are you guys feeling? Um sis SIUs just in the way that I'm sure Brian Smetze will be disappointed. I think that, you know, uh, coach said it doing the broadcast that you know, losing is tough on a coach. What's worse is how you lose,
you know. And I thought that the self inflicted wounds is what will be disappointing for this team. So yeah, and to give up a third goal late like that on a long ball that just kind of switching off for a second. I think there's a lot of questions for this team right now. We've you know, that's it's it's been a team that's done incredibly well in the last few years. Uh. It's a team that, since two thousand
and nine has more points than any other major league soccer team. Uh. You know, in total, I think New York's behind him by about thirty or forty now. But but right now there's some questions, right what where are we? Um? Where where are we going to get yet? Uh? Where are we going to get goals from? They've got a lot of shutouts eleven this year, but giving up three goals at RSLs not not what they want. And I think they're trying to figure out who's going to lead
UM. And and you know, I look at it sometimes, you know, man management's very very important. They've had injuries, they've had national team call ups, they've had lots of games and short windows, UM, quite a bit of travel as well. And and right now, you know, they've got to they've got to find a second win. They've got to find us another gear. Uh, and they've got to go make something and they've
got to have some fun. Right now. That is not a happy team, right it's uh, it's going to be very quiet in the locker room. And um, you know sometimes in a locker room like this, you have guys throwing shoes and getting upset and screaming at each other and all that. Right now, it doesn't feel like they have that kind of energy. So they've got to go find it. And there's only so much a coach
can do. Um, there's there's tremendous leadership on this team between Fry, you go right on the spine Fry and Jael Paulo and Rusnak has been around a long time, Tevis the roll Don brothers. Right, excuse me, Morris, the rolled On brothers. I wouldn't put Tevis on the leadership spot
yet. He's got to work into that. But I just think even new who's been around a long time, but they've got to look each other in the eyes that they've got to kind of have a little bit of a come to as a team and say, hey, this is not the Seattle Sounders, right. And Nicole Ladero. You know Nico his first game, It's it's been said a lot, but you know, his first game, he walked in the locker room, he turned off the music, and said we're
not going to listen to music, We're gonna talk to each other. And at that moment in that season, they were at the bottom of the table and they end up winning the MLS Cups. So they need a little bit of something that says we got to get back on track, whether it's pride. And no one wants to hear this, but I think there's a lot of tired guys on that team, right, And and yes, professional athletes,
and yes they play two hours a day. But I know Alex Roldan, for instance, you know when he had this five when he went to Salvador, he was all over the US, right, three different states in the US, and and I think he was in Asia as well for a couple of games. So he's done a ton of traveling as well, and it catches up to him. And everybody wants to beat the Seattle Sounders, right. It's not like playing you know, Colorado, where you don't really
get up for that game. Everybody wants to beat the Seattle Sounders. So they're in a tough spot right now. They're in a hole after this game. Having said that, they're in fourth place in the MLS. Okay, so so we're not in you know, first world problems basically. Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Having said that, we're in fourth place where twenty four games, I think RSL is twenty four games as well, and then first and second place or at twenty three. So so there's a lot to
play for and there's still a chance in this Cup. But they've got to find that energy and they've got to come together. You know what, coach, I love at the beginning of what you were when you were talking um, you mentioned that they need to have fun. Yeah. I think that that's a great point, and I think it also sort of speaks to your second point about, yes, they're professional athletes. Yes, they get to play a game for two hours. You know, that's their job, blah
blah blah. Like uh, but I feel like if they just remember to have fun and remember they are professional athletes and they get to play a game. Yeah, you know what, though it's so stressful, you of course it is. I can't do it. Yeah, You're only as good as your last performance, really, right, And that's that's the mind. That's why it's so intense and so competitive. So when it's not going well, you really the mind starts to play some tricks on you and um, they've
just got to get back. But the fun where does the fun come? Goes when you score goals. It comes when you defend, well, the joy, right they exactly the coach. I think you said something to Tally and to a point as well that there's a little bit of searching that needs to go on here, right is is what what? What? Who are
we? What are we? And I think part of that has to come from accountability on two on two fronts, right, accountability of self maybe I'm tired maybe and other coach, you know what, my leg is hurting a little bit more, and so it's best you put somebody in there. But it's also that accountability in terms of that we can have that talk, you know, and you receiving it and also me having the curers to do that, and then somebody else saying that to me as well, and then we
remember, oh yeah, we are a team, we're our family. Oh we like each other, this is why we do this. So I think there's you need a little bit of that right about now. And to your point, it's not about to screaming or anything about that, right, it's loving each other up in a way that you know, we can bring the best in all performances. Yeah, you know two words that come to mind as you're saying that too. I also think about Pete Carroll with Doctor Duckworth.
Grit, Right, they got to get some grit, and they gotta get some accountability and they got to push through. So these are all guys. Most of these guys have rings on this team in some capacity. Right. So whether it's the Champions League or or MLS, right, most of the guys have experienced that. They know what it looks like, they know what it's supposed to look like. But they've got to go back and they
got to look themselves in the mirror. And and uh, and I bet it is quiet in that locker room, but they have got you know, Stephen Fry is not going to be happy right with this. Uh, Christian Wildon it's not going to be happy with this. Nico, I'm sure is at home saying, Okay, when they get back, I got a light
of fire under him. We gotta get going again. So um, you know, and and again I think it has to come from players, right, But I can also see a guy, you know, I could see a coach like Precy, you know, getting after him saying come on, he's a three time MVP of this league, right, and getting after him and saying, come on, you're better than this. It's time, you know, get your head up and let's get going. So they need a little grit, a little bit of accountability and m and as we said,
the fund comes when you're winning. So losing's awful. Well, if any of our listeners need a life coach, um, both of my analysts in here right now are giving some great life coach advice and um, shoot them a DM on Instagram, guys, but you don't kill it. And then what's interesting coach? On the positive if that foul is called, right, I mean, you know I'm making excuses, but it's that's another thing.
You take a look at the film, right you say, yeah, it's not making excuses, but it's taking like a moment and seeing when momentum can shift or when you know there's pivotal moments that you can go back to and be like, well, if this had happened, and I think that that's totally fair. Yeah, and we're not saying they would have scored, right, but the game would have stopped right there. And then then you don't get the bang bang bang on the two goals. But that was a pivotal
moment right there, and that's something to look back. That was on the second goal, correct, Yeah, yeah, you're right, by the way, I missed both of those goals because I was going to go get pizza. Then our amazing broadcast as this in Hannah brought for us, so that that's how quickly those two goals were scored. Unfortunately, UM Delta Airlines on Yeah, sorry, it was on the first goal in the forty seven minute
mark. Delta Airlines, it's proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Centers FC players the season at three refoundations, one one ball program. com. Welcome back into the postmatch show Following a disappointing U League's Cup three Nothing lost to Real Salt Lake at America First Field. Guys, I'm gonna just take a you know, actually, let's do the eq EQC Play of the match first. UM, let's play that. We're gonna be a little bit homary for this one. UM, no goals. Unfortunately to play for you guys, because no one wants to hear at our sall goal. So
here is our EQUC play of the match. Petersr Sella now working in the final thirty years and Nelly and Nelly on his left foot shot stage, Steven Fry Brian diving off those out back to his and we'll step into that one. Another big save from Stephen Fry in the forty first minute, his third big save of this half, and he keeping this match zero zero. So Stephen Fry had quite a first half. I'm looking at the stats right now, eight shots on target RSL had the entire game, three goals obviously given
up. During the break we were sort of talking about the defensive and sort of Fry's performance. What do you guys think from what you saw tonight? Well, I thought I thought he was good. He came up with some big saves to keep it at zero in the first half, for sure. I don't think you can be faulted on any of the goals. I think those go in on most goalkeepers around the world or major league soccer. So I think he's going to be frustrated that there were that many opportunities, that
many shots on goal. But I look at it, and I don't think he gave up anything or misread any shots or crosses or anything like that. I thought he was pretty darn solid. It certainly most three goals against, it doesn't sound like a great goalkeeping performance, but I thought he was good throughout the night. The goals, I don't think you could have done anything about him. Yeah, I mean, as coaches, you know, when you evaluate the goalkeepers, you know, did they come out when they needed
to? You know, when they're on their line when they had to, did they shout that out? And now we you know, we don't know, you know, to communication the back line. But he was, you
know, he looked he played the party, was positionally sound. He had a couple of saves, and we talked about that and I and again on the goals, I think we talked off there a little bit that it looked like it's the center backs, but it's really, as Brian always says, goals are breakdown in the team goal and and you know, I mean by the team, and so that's what I think. Really, despite the breakdowns in front of him, Fry was pretty stellar. And again it's weird saying
that when you know three goals went by him. But but that is the that is the truth. Yeah, sometimes these games been, they're maddening right to your point. If a fouls called or a foul's given, you know, it can change the complexion of a game. When you give up a goal and then you switch off and you give up one three minutes later at a place that you've only won one time in all those years, again, things start to creep into your brain. And we do have to give RSL
credit. You got to give Pablo Mastriani credit. I thought they were very good. I thought they were on the front foot attacking all the time. They did have joy in their game, right, got rewarded for it with the three goals tonight. So that's a happy locker room. And uh and that's a team that that's their eleventh win of this season, you know, ten in MLS and now one in this in this competition. But you got
to give them credit. You know, Wade whoever, when he was doing the analyst position, he used to say all the time, you know, soccer is hard. He used to cut. He used to quote a guy Doug Morrell, who went to Stanford played for the Sounders a long time ago. And a lawyer, right, And Doug would say soccer is hard, and it is. It's tough. RSL wants to win. Those guys are trying to do something for their club, get their paychecks, do their job,
play a game they love. Seattle, you know, it was just on the wrong side of it. But like I said, Seattle's got a regroup and they've got to throw up behind him. But they've got to make some changes. You can't just throw it. You can't just say, Okay, we're gonna throw it behind us and then move forward. You gotta say we're gonna throw this one behind us, and this is the new route we're taken. So if I just went out there and just said to score more,
it wouldn't work. It's what you're saying, probably not the best. Well, honestly, you know, it's like we used to say all the time. You know, what's the key to the match is to score first. And that sounds so obvious, right, But yeah, no one ever says let them get up to nothing. So we played an NCAA tournament game my second year at Seattle. You at Creton, they've been to two final
fours in a row. They thought they were going to kill us, or the first time in the NCAA tournament and they're Creton got a free kick on a pass back that our goalie disagreed with, and he dropped the ball and turned his back. The Creton player put it down, played a square ball and they tapped it in. And that could not have been any scripted any better. It was snowing, it was nineteen to grease and crate, and
thought, we're going to kill these guys. We end up tying it up one one, and then we get a goal, and I think because they scored early, they took their foot off the gas. That's the only time I've ever now did I tell the team in the locker room before the game hag an idea, we're gonna let him score. No, we didn't do that. So no, it's score first, score often, and get a clean sheet. You know what game that actually kind of reminds me of.
It's the USA Ghana game from twenty fourteen when Clint Dempsey scored so quickly and Ghana was all over us as soon as that happened, and it was kind of like, well, of course we want to score early. But yeah, now they're like all on top of us. Yeah, it's a funny game. I mean, it's a different game. It's not like basketball. You know, the better team's gonna usually win in basketball, right, and
tonight oursel was the better team, no question. But but the lesser team can oftentimes pull something out and and and it's like you're climbing up a mountain. And it was a tough one for Seattle today. And whether it was the heat, whether it's all you know, all the games they've been playing, but they just really never got going in the way. They weren't click
right. And a lot of times that I've been hearing this from others as well, that you know, some of our penetrating passes, we're not finding the seams. Mas. You said it before the game about combining down the middle of the field getting crosses in. It took a long time for us to get across. I think in the first half only had down that Chwo had one crossing and uh alshrol Don had one cross So, uh, no crosses, no shots, no goals. You got to get those crosses in.
And then ruy Diaz comes further and further back. Why because he's frustrated he's not getting the ball well you need him next to the goal, go
ahead. No, I'm just gonna say to you a point. I think that in soccer, the team that on the office, the death that has the is more committed, is more daring, is more courageous, and that is in their play, in their passing and their attacking and sitting there and you know, and defending that blade of grass and as you know, ziggi right, gold, dangerous, right, And that's what's really been missing right now with the Sounders. And in that commitment. I mean, the players
want to win. I don't you know. It's not that, but but it's about okay, what system are we playing, coach. This is to you point in terms of reality. So look, they know after when they get the ball, they know that we're going that way. We're going to look that way that way real quickly and make a pass, get down there within what the Sounders I like to do that with five seconds, six within six seconds kind of attacking. And so I think that's what they just have
to get back to the Sounders and they'll be fun. They'll be if you if you looked at all of there's about a three minute clip of Lionel Messi every one of his touches. Almost all of his touches are forward and looking to probe and looking to create and the way to the past. I thought some of our passes today went off the field. They should have been clipped, they should have been curled. There should have been some spin on him,
that little detail. If you're pitting a ball to Jordan Morrise and you just ping it and he's not going to catch up to it, but if you clip it, he can, he can get on the end of it. So but if you watch Messi's little highlight video of his all as touches last night for Miami, they were all oftentimes looking forward. The majority of
the passes were forward, and they were splitting scenes and finding pockets. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. And I know that we're running a little bit late, but I do want to ask you guys one more question sort of before we move on to previewing
our game in the next segment. We actually had a moment tonight where a lot of, if not most, of our attacking players were on the field at the same time a bear was on the field role was on the field and Jordan was on the field at the same time, and Ruse Nack, thank you and ruse Nack, what did you guys think? I mean, we obviously didn't get a chance to really see that firing at all cylinders tonight
tonight it might have not have been the night. But how did it feel sort of seeing all of our attackers on the field at the same time. What did you think of that move by Schpenzer when it happened. Just very curious about your thoughts there. Well, I think it's the right move. You gotta get goals, so I think you kind of throw out the kitchen sink. But I think, then do they know how to do? They know how to play together, and they do know how to play together,
but they haven't been playing to get very much. So who goes where? Rauld kind of came back a lot, but that allowed you once when he would come back, you'd see Rusnet go up and get higher up the field and Jordan next to him, and so I don't know that you know, and they all are wont the ball right, So I don't think it was as fluid, But I think there was a lot of talent out there and on the field, and I like to see it, to be quite honest
with you, And that's a good moved by Brian. Get everybody out there, you know, said the little bit hungry said that way. When he goes back and looks at it, then he can just you know, figure out exactly how he wants to do that. I non coaching year, I think they should go to a four four two and get as many, to your point, get as many offensive players as you can on there, because they are talented, but they just have to figure out the familiarity and the
commitment in terms of how they're attacking. Yeah, I agree with that. I think I think it's maybe time now to try that. I think that's gonna become part of the conversation. Do we switch the lineup? Oh bet, I think does an admirable job in there. JP is two central midfielders who can be holding. I'd like to see JP hit a few more of the long balls. He hit one to Jordan Morris before he was subbed off
the field, and Jordan gave him the thumbs up. That was the ball that wasn't clipped, but and it just went too far too you know, too far, too fast for for Morris to get to. But I'd like to see a little bit more of that. Always loved to win. Ozzie was hitting long diagonal balls and he would hit three or four a game and it would just kind of open things out when you got pace like two, or when you can get Christian rolled on higher up the field or Morris,
you know, or even a ball over the top for Ruy Diaz. He's got the strength to hold somebody off. But it's a good point, Keiley. We got all our all our attacking guys on the field. We didn't get any joy out of it though, maybe next time, and there will be next time coming up. If, gosh forbid, the Sounders do not advance out of the group stage, which, by the way, it's one game whatever. But is there such a thing as too much rest? Or is it really important that they advance so that that game in August twentieth
isn't quite so far away? Yeah? It's easy to get out of match condition for sure, right, I mean you can so they will be playing if they didn't advance. I would imagine that there would be some inner squad games. They probably bring up the Defiance guys and make sure they replicate. But yes, it's it's a double edge sword. You want a little bit of rest, for sure, but then you don't want to get out of
your rhythm. They've got to They don't have a rhythm right now. I bet they would say that as well, and so they want to get that rhythm, and the only way to get that rhythm, the only way to stay match fit is to playing games. Having said that, this team has been doing a lot lately, so they're all gonna you know, I don't think they. I would be very surprised if with the week's rest, if they change the lineup too drastically or uh, you know, rotated squad rotation,
because I just don't see them doing that. I certainly don't see him sending that message. But if they had twenty days off, it's a good thing, but it's also something that they have to manage as well, meaning they've got to replicate some kind of games. Yeah, I think you live in a moment. I think as soccer players, you know, you know,
they love this. This is this is their dream right. So what they're trying to do is get right, you know, and then when you come back the next time day ride, do you you know you win that game? Now if you don't, then that's when you begin to say, okay, now what but right now we can all of us can speculate and all that. But those players, you know, as coach said, that's a quiet locker room, and what they want to do is get right, play well in front of their home fans, you know, and show who
they are. And then then after that you have that discussion that I don't know if I said anything, but I think that's the best word you can really, you know, take that thing. Welcome to radio. Do you know if you actually said anything? I'm not quite sure or I'll just trying to get through it.
