Seattle Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ RFM Seattle and I Heart Radio station available everywhere on our free I Heart Radio mat number one for music radio and podcasts in one. Welcome to the Sounders FC postmatch Show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC.

The Sounders fcen postmatch show starts now. The Seattle Sounders falling tonight at Looming Field to the Santos eight Earthquakes a score of one nothing Santos A. Let's head down on the field. Michelle Ladki with Kellen Rowe and Kellen your initial impressions of tonight's performance for your team was good after the goal. Unfortunately, it took us down a goal to start playing and creating and having that

urgency. It's I hate to say any of again, but it's a learning lesson that you got to come out in the foot, the front foot each half. We unfortunately didn't. I think we had a lot of chances, myself included I'm, you know, kicking myself. I didn't have that header. But hey, it's it's unfortunately for us, we gotta be like Ted Lass says to be like goalfish and you know, get back on Saturday, because Saturday is a Saturday's a big one, best quote of all time.

Speaking of the chances there that you were saying, it seems like lately there has been a lot of opportunities and chances created in the final third, just not quite finding the back of the net. What do you think is missing in that final third? Oh, it's just a little bit of savvness, a little bit of quality. And you know, I can attest that Rolls kicking himself as well, and I know I am. It's you know, it's we've been out what four six weeks. It tastes a little bit of

time. I think with this many chances missed, you're going to see a lot of chances go in here in the future. Your first match since April twenty ninth, how are you feeling feeling good? Little tire feeling good. You've had an interesting role since coming back to Seattle, really sliding in as a utility player, seeing action in seven different positions for the Sounders since you came back to Seattle. During your time away over the last month, while

you've been away from actually physically being on the field. Has that allowed you to kind of look at the game, watch the game, learn from the game as you kind of continue to carve out this utility role for yourself. It's funny, you know, I was. You watch it, you analyze it, You try and help guys on the sideline as much as you can because you see the whole field. And when you get on the field, it's such a different game. And everyone who's played this before it knows it's

a little bit faster. You don't see that, because you know, I'm sitting from bird's eye view. I can see everything. Guys in the field. You've got guys running at You've got little, tiny spaces. So it came at me pretty fast. Luckily I had some time around me today and made things a little easier. As you, guys now turn the page and gear up for Portland on Saturday. What do you think needs to happen over the course of the next couple of days to come away with three points on

Saturday? Not dull on this look. This is a result that was unfortunate. I think we could have had a time, we could have won this game. I think everyone knows that in the locker room once they sit down and actually realize it. Obviously it stings at the moment. We have to get over it. We have to make sure that we have the same tenacity that we had after they scored all game against Portland, because we know it's a big rival, we know that we haven't done well in the past.

We need to make sure that we bring that back. Last one for you, Kellen, obviously not the result you guys wanted in Portland when you guys were down there against the Timbers. Any extra motivation given the way that one played out. I think there's always motivation when when you play a team like Portland US. It's something that for me is in my heart. I mean, it's Seattle versus Seattle versus Portland is is the biggest riber we I've ever

seen. So m it's a tanastity that you have to have. Like I said that that same tannasty, the same stabbing, it's the same playmaking and ball winning that we had when they scored a goal. We need that the whole game. Kellen, appreciate the time, especially after the loss. Congratulations on making it back tonight. Thanks so much, Jackson. Thanks Michelle. It's Michelle Ludka down on the field with Kellen Rowe. All right, well, he said that they won't dwell on it and they need to move past

it. But for the next hour of this postgame show, we are going to dwell on it. So we are going to talk through that. Welcome in to the full length hour long postmatch show Jackson Folts alongside Saunders, Legend, Chance Fry and A Chance. There's gonna be a lot that we try to break down from this one. We're gonna hear from head coach Brian Schmitzer. We're gonna talk about Portland coming up, but we have to you know, sorry, Kellen dwelling it. We have to break this thing down.

And I mentioned in pregame listen, I'm a fan first, and I know the feelings of many fans leaving this building. They are very angry, They're very frustrated. They know exactly what Kellen said. This should have been at least one point with the chances that this team created in the second half, A chance, there is a lot of frustration. Helped me understand why I

shouldn't be ridiculously angry right now, or tell me why I should. I don't think you should, Okay, I believe what Kellen said was perfectly correct. They need to forget about this one. Once they look at the tape, they're gonna look back and go this should have been a winner, not just a tie. For sure. I'm looking back on after they scored the San Jose scored the goal. Knew who lost his mark on that corner kick. Just a lack of concentration for a second. They jump on it.

After that, we absolutely pounded them and Role. I'm a huge fan of Roles and I would have bet my life on a couple of those. But he is coming back from injury, um, and I know I was a striker. It's just the hardest thing to do is to score goals. Um. But he's the one that's right there, and we had a couple of

other chance. Let's pause right there on Role because he comes into this match there in the enter in the fifty eighth minute where all comes from an infre bear Red Baker Whiting comes in for Dylan Tevz Alex Roldan slides up Role as I count three great chances. His first touch was a great chance. Has chances in the in the seventy ninety second minute as well. Miss is the

uncharacteristic un characteristically misses those chances. Is it as simple as him just still getting his legs under him coming back or is there anything more to that or is it just kind of just working his way back in. It's a little bit of everything, getting your legs underneath you. But as a striker, you just just dwell on confidence, and um you need to have that confidence.

And you know what, he puts one in all of a sudden, he gets two more right after that, and UM, I personally believe in rue Daz, So does you know, Brian and everybody else in this stadium, Um, I really believe that Tonight was Uh, here's the deal. The one thing that I was thinking about and didn't say it beforehand, is that a team that hasn't you know, had a result on the road in fourteen games, they're due and they they they're in the locker room high five

in each other. They got so lucky. They really did, I mean it did? We We went through the you know, the it was interesting we went through in the in the prematch show the stats of how long it's been since the San Jose's got a result on the road. What is it? I think you have the stat of four draws yet, right, so

it's been fourteen. They've also given up six goals in added time. And when we saw in the ninety second minute, two makes that run down the left and puts the ball into Rool who I mean, he makes a great run. He usually just buries it, but it goes too high. I mean, that was the moment. You know, you're I mean, as I'm seeing Roll and Leo making the run, You're thinking it is San Jose

just did it again. And it just it's just that in degree and it's kind of felt this entire game like the Sounders were always that inch off here or there, and it just, I mean, it's it's a game of inches, and the inches pile up and they'll leave you with zero goals. Yeah. And and the way that that Ruy Diez came in and hit that

shot. You can see the way he dragged it. He sort of pulled it because he was anxious, he was on top of it too much and dragged it to his left a little bit more calmness, just holding back. He opens his foot and he's gonna tuck that in the far corner for sure. And at that point though he and everybody else in the stadium. We didn't care if it hit off of his head, knee, stomach, but it just go in because the goalkeeper was dead in the water, had no

idea, he was just standing. I was. I was so ready to say that that was our Emerald Queen Casino play of the Match. I was so ready to give you that highlight. Unfortunately we can't, but I'll tell you that the Play of the match each week is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Jackson Felts and Chance Fry here for the next forty five minutes on the post match show to break it all down

and react to the sounders. One nothing lost tonight to the San Jose Earthquakes. I think we're gonna take a break right now. We're gonna come back, and because I don't want to miss any of Brian Spencer's post match press conference down from the battles of women Field, So let's take a quick break. We'll come back, make sure we get all of head coach Brian Spencer's

comments that should be next on the postmatch show. Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM Sounders following tonight at Woman Field to the San Jose earthquakes. One nothing. Let's go down and hear from head coach Brian Spencer, who can't drop points at home all the time. You know, yeah, we created a bunch and man, we created a ton of chances. I don't know what the expected goals will be, but we had a lot of good opportunities. You know, you gotta give credit. You know Steph Fry makes

that save last game. Uh, their goalkeeper made that save on a bear. That was a that was a really good save in the first half. Um, you know he was able to make a couple of easier saves. Uh, But you know, credit credit damn first staying in there. But overall I thought, you know, we created enough chances and we just couldn't score. Jeremiah the ball up real quickly on that. You said, what

are you saying on the on the corner tick goal? What were you saying that you have to because we real didn't have time to train it as much as I would have liked. We put TV's at the back post. Um, it was a new position for the kid. We walked through it, but walked throughs aren't the same as live training, and so the responsibility there, it's not on Teva's actually the goal. I mean I knew who should have stayed with him, Josh the initial header. You know, it was

a combination of things. But in our zone, how we how we set up that space is always covered. So that's I can't blame the kid for it. So as far as the what do you tell the guys when they're creating as many chances as they created in that game? For what it's worth, it was almost three XG What like is that something that you can coach? Is that something that like? What do you what do you say? We have the last two weeks, Jeremiah, last three weeks we've been doing

I would say eighty twenty. As far as attacking exercises drills versus defending, I mean, you know, I complained last week or the other week about giving up some goals. So we did a couple sessions on back for work and being a little bit more stingy. But we've worked hard and long, and look, roles gonna score goals. A bear is gonna score goals. Sometimes their goal scores are streak. You know, Raoul's first game since able fifteen, UM but you know, these these types of games hurt because we

should have gotten more out of the game. Go over to Unique, Mike's coming your way, coach on the defensive end, have you record the start today? He just wanted to get your take on his play. Overall, in the ninety minutes, I thought Hobby was pretty good. I mean early in the first half, he was spraying a couple of good balls, but he dealt with Abusi fairly well. You know, we wanted to give Yaimar a little bit of rest. I rested Jackson the other week. Hobby's a

good player. He's a starter on a lot of teams in MLS. I thought it was good. Owen over to you. Yeah, how important is confidence for a player like Lao Cho? Obviously, you know his first two seasons, it took some time to grow in. But now he's looking really confident. Have you coached players like that before? And kind of what do you say to him? Well, Leo is a good talent, good talent,

good good player. What we have said to him in the last two years of work, hard work, smart, plenty of repetitions of training. We were actually going to take him off to try and save some legs to because he's got to start again against Portland. But you know, he was effective, so we didn't. We made the decision not to take him out of the game, and he almost delivered. I mean, he had a

bunch of good balls across, so kid was good. I wanted to get your thoughts on Reid Baker Whiting. He's sending in quite a few dangerous balls into the box after he came on. Perhaps a movement to make him more of a regular. Well, Reid's improvement has been noticeable by the coaching staff and by everybody that watches him play. Need's another one that just needs a

little more seasoning, a little more experience. Wouldn't say that he's going to be the starting right back for our club now, but he certainly is going to put pressure on Alex for sure. And since Alex got his yellow card, he's gonna gives got a good chance of starting. So we'll see, all right, We'll cut back around to the front over here to John Marshall and Maza see your fault for a follow up reminder on zoom. If you have a question, now's the time to get your hand up in the raised

hand function button. John over to you, Brian, tonight you led most every stat on the stat sheet other than the most important one, the one that sticks out to meet those ten corners from the night. What can you do as a team to be more effective on corners and set pieces. We've actually trained a lot in that in that regard. The execution of the dough wasn't good tonight. You know, the service has to be there, the

movements in the box. If they're you know, preventing one thing. You know that we've trained on during the week, We've got to switch years. I don't know. I have to look at them. I'm trying to think of which one of them more dangerous, and I can't think of one. So maybe that's to your point. But we'll watch the film and you know, Friday can be a good day. We're gonna have a regen session tomorrow, but Friday can be a good day where we can throw some of that

in there. And in the build up to Portland, all right, on Zoom, we're gonna go over to Jackson. Felts. Jackson, go ahead and ask your question. I see your hand raise, yeah, coach, I'm wondering after what happened down in Portland, at the previous time. Obviously, these are always intense rivalry matches, but because of what happened down there, does it give you personally a little extra buzz going into this one here on Saturday back at home. It's not about me, Jackson, It's about

the players in that locker room. I just warned them that they need to be prepared and ready for Saturday. But it's not me. I'm not stepping on field. They're the ones that have to do that, and they will hear the message. I think I was pretty clear. But you know, it's up to them to perform, and we will do our jobs as coaches to make sure some of the details on you know, set pieces, defensively, whoever we roll out there, make sure that everybody is in sync,

that they're on the same page, they understand their roles and responsibilities. Will make sure that we do our job, because that's what you have to look at first, and then Jackson, the players have to remember that game as well. Sleep and the kid over to you next, Phelipe, please ask your question. I see your hand raised, dounzone. Thank your next coach, Brian. What's next for the team is a little time to prepare against

Portland, Corroll recovered the team mental need and physically well. They said they have a region tomorrow and then we'll train on Friday and then an early kickoff one thirty kickoff for Saturday. So there's not a lot of time, but we'll make the best use of that time to get them ready. All right, we have time for a couple of follow ups, so go over to Mas. I know you've been how do your hand raised? Yeah, Bron,

I'm just gonna ask about Alex Rodan. I mean, I know he got the yellow card, but he was his versatility in this game and then also just all season what you've asked of him. Well, this game, we moved him up the line when Reid came on, and he was good. I mean, he played there in college for Pete and Seattle University. He was an attacking player, midfield players, so he can play there and I actually kind of liked that. So maybe there's a little bit of room

there. But you know, his brother's coming back probably for Saturday, so we'll see how that rolls out. Jeremia over to you. Yeah, well, I guess what was the thinking in terms of balancing going for it this game? In terms of minutes played and saving guys for Saturday or was there any of that at all going into the thinking. There was a lot of that gone into the planning for this game. But then after they scored that goal, things changed. I thought we could get something out of this game.

So I left guys on subd Albert out because he was dealing with a little bit of you know, stomach virus. I need him to be fresh for Saturday. Uh, you know, Yaimar, You know, like I said, I wanted to get Chew off. Tevez is going to have to start again, So that was the sub there. So there were some guys that we were thinking about for Saturday, but the way the game unfolded,

it wasn't you've been listening to the Sounders FC post. He slav One just wanted to get a little bit deeper on you know, roose Prices on the field. Obviously hasn't played for a while, but he seemed like he was well positioned and he was riding the game. Well, what was your assessment on how he came on and kind of influenced the game? Good? He was good in all phases except for you know, he wishes I know because

I know Raoul's body language. Uh, you know, he wishes he could have some of those chances back because normally when he's informed, he's going to score those all day long. Johnny Seattle Sounder's head coach Brian Schwetzer. There following a Sounders one nothing when nothing loss pat looming Field, Jackson felt the chance Fried chance that before we get to a break. And there's a lot there that I want to ask you about, but quickly, first, your

initial takeaways from what he said. My initial takeaway is that he's disappointed, right, Um, he knows that his players gave every single thing they could. They did every single thing that they could have accept put the ball in the net. And I know that that's a cliche that we use lots of times, but that is the reality of it. I know he said that they went in they talked about the message going forward for Saturday, and I

believe that that was given in a positive manner. Though Okay, there's no reason to go beat him up. They did everything, They tried their hardest. There wasn't anybody that didn't put out a great effort, and so I think that that the players are going to feel good when they go into these next two days. He talked about the region, and then we walked throughs on Friday and and then the game on Saturday early. Yeah. I want

to come back and talk to you about his comments. That's why I jumped into the press conference because I know he said this isn't about me, but it kind of is. Brian, I don't want to explain my thoughts on that here in a moment. Sounder fans sound trains that would like to remind everyone to obey all signs and signals winner on train tracks. Next on the postgame Show, coming off of a one nothing Sounder's loss on Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back to luman Field, where your Seattle centers have dropped a results tonight at home to the San Jose Earthquakes, who hadn't won on the road in fourteen games. They get it done here tonight at luhman

Field. Final score by a score of one nothing and Delta Airlines is product to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season the Ray Foundations One Mile One Ball program, Jackson Felts and Chance Fry here on the extended edition post match show. It's really you know, we're also merging this with Sounders Weekly this week, which I believe is going to be maybe moving to Wednesdays moving forward on ninety three point three KJR FM from seven

day PM, so be on the lookout for that. But you know, we're kind of merging this postgame show with an extended Sounders Weekly. But Chance, I want to go back to Brian's comment there, and I jumped into that press conference because I had a very specific question which was coming off of what happened against the Portland Timbers, who the Sounders are gonna be facing this

Saturday. We'll continue to talk about it over the next half hour doubleheader coming up on Saturday one thirty pre match right here on ninety three point three one fifty five kickoff against the Portland Timbers here at Lumen. So looking back to that match down there against Portland where Seattle was leading one nothing and then Portland scored four unanswered in twenty minutes, nineteen minutes and beat you four one.

And I wanted to ask Brian, I know rivalry games are always intense, but after what happened down there, for you personally, is this a little bit more? Does it give you a little more juice? And he's said, it's not about me, and he went on to say, you know it's There was a very good comments here. One of the best comments I think was towards the end where he said players have to remember that game down there. That's extremely important because he's pressuring and emphasizing we need to make sure

those guys don't forget. But also he said it's not about me, and

I don't have a chance. For me. I would say it absolutely is about you, because at the end of the day, you have players like Leo Chu who've come here from Brazil and they've only been here for a few years, and there's many cases like this, right and they don't know the intensity of Sounders Timbers, the history you know for one hundred and ten battles between Sounders and Timbers, and it is the most intense rivalry in American soccer. And when you go into a game like that, part of the motivation

would I would think in that we hear about is building up. This is a massive game. We need to give our all. We need you guys to make sure. I mean he said it after the loss in Portland. I don't feel like this was a rivalry. I don't feel from our from guys like this was a rivalry. Well it is chance? Is that not? Then on the coaching staff and specifically in number one of the top Brian Spencer, to make sure A these players understand that it's the rivalry match and

b give there all absolutely one hundred ten because the rivalry match. I would say it is about you, Brian, making sure that that you can push into the an emphasize to everybody who needs to know and everybody who's on the field coming Saturday, this is one of the biggest games of the year and we need every ounce of bit that you can possibly give for this one.

Yeah, here's the deal. Every question that has been asked since the end of this game, from everybody in the press conference and everybody that's driving home

tonight and everything else, Brian has been is answering it. The problem is is that there's no answer that's satisfactory for when you go away with a one zero loss like this, right, And in terms of the rivalry or you know, doing corner kicks well or free kicks or finishing or whatever, they're working on all that, okay, And I could sense the frustration in Brian's voice a little bit during the press conference because it's like, okay, guys,

really, we are working on these things. We talk to the players about this, and I think what he meant by the fact is that he's not going to be on the field. He doesn't kick a ball. The coaching staff is definitely talking to the players as a group. They're talking to individuals for the specific jobs that they need to do certain players, you know, like Nikoor and leadership roles. They need to pick up the younger guys.

But yeah, there's certain people on the team and they're certain fans in the stadium, and you and I have this sort of angst because we all hate Portland. You know, we want to win every single time. And obviously there's going to be guys that are on the team that understand the rivalry and they know it's a derby and all that kind of stuff, but they don't have that deep rooted gut wrenching feel that we have maybe looking from the

outside in. So is there a way to instill that by talking or is it just is it just a matter of is there is there a job that the coaching staff and Brian can do to instill that or does it just come with experience playing these games? Well, I don't know if it's just experience, but it's a professional pride, all right. Every single game the guys go out there and they give their very best. Sometimes they don't execute, you know, their best, or they don't maybe have it physically that night.

But every single time the guys go out on the field, they are giving their best. If they don't, they know the coaches can recognize that and they'll be sitting on the bench next to them in the next game. So, I mean tonight was a perfect example. You had Alex Rodan, he knew he was on his fifty yellow card and he was busting his tail the whole game. I mean, he was running till his legs couldn't go

anymore. So there was nothing from an effort standpoint that the players could have put in more tonight, And I think that's gonna be mirrored on Saturday as well. This whole thing about them being tired. They're gonna get over it. They've got full the staff to get them regenerated. Does a great job. And the one thing I was thinking about is that while it was lots of intensity down on this end of the field, that wasn't end to end,

So we weren't like back and forth, back and forth. It was pretty much they were kicking the ball out, we were getting it and we were attacked on block shot. There there was one corner in the eighty first minute. I was like, how did we not score? I mean, give San Jose credit. I said that they were lucky, and I think

that they will would agree with that. But they were putting their bodies on the line to stop a few shots and unfortunately for us, you know, one of them could have hit the arm or anything like that, but they were down in their box. They were putting themselves on the line, and

their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves. Going back to the robbery talk, because you and I talked in the break about something interesting in a game like this where you're coming off of a disappointing one nothing loss against San Jose and the last time you face this team they beat you four to one in a just shocking twenty minute you know explosion. Basically, there's the thought of playing this game against Portland like a normal game or giving more, going harder

in it. And my point of of, you know, of motivating them to the point that they play with every ounce of energy they could possibly muster up is one side. But then there's the other side of of playing it just like any other important soccer match, where do you fall in that spectrum? Will there's a there's something and Brian mentioned it. Not only do they have to play hard, but they have to play smart. You can't have just a bunch of you know, guys running around with their heads cut off,

just working so hard and not playing with their brains. So a lot of times in a soccer game, you have to slow the ball down, you have to think, you have to decide when you're gonna go into a tackle or not going to a tackle or whatever. So they can't just go out there with this you know, gumption of like, hey, we're just going to run around and do our very best and work hard and make it

look like we're doing something. Because soccer is about thinking as well. Okay, some of the greatest players in the world never break a sweat barely because they're just jogging in the right spots. Okay, so it's about working hard, but it's about working smart as well, and they have to keep their

heads which is difficult to do, and play methodical and do exactly. I mean, honestly, if they would have scored two or three goals here tonight, we wouldn't have said anything about any mispasses, corner kicks or anything like that. None of those questions would have Oh if they scored one, two or three goals tonight, the conversation, the tone, my emotions, it's a complete one eighty. But that's the beauty of being a fan, is that is that my emotions each and every even my wife can attest this.

It honestly rides on how this club does. Because I will go home tonight and I will be the forty minutes driving home screaming at loud music in my car. I'll get home, I'll be quiet. My wife will just understand that I'm in a bad mood. If they had scored three goals, I'm singing the praises while driving home, and I'm all talkative and happy and I probably have a drink when I get home. So that's that's the game,

right, It is that close. It is the game, and and and the the press conference would have been, Man, it looked like you guys were working on corner kicks all week instead of should you work? You know what I mean? And it's a game of inches, you know, sometimes the ball bounce is funny. All these cliches we talk about soccer, But that's that's the beauty about soccer, is that sometimes the better team doesn't win.

And we've been on the other side of that too, and we've won games where we walked out looking around going okay, did did anybody see us steal that one? And um, but tonight, well there you go, and um, you know, San Jose's getting on the plane tonight or tomorrow whenever they go, and they're they're they're feeling very fortunate, and they should be feeling for actuate a one nothing win for the Earthquakes tonight here at Lumanfield.

That was good thought. Let's continue talking about Parland, but this time from the tactical side of what we'll see on the field. I mentioned Alex Roldan. He suspended five yellow cards what else based on what we saw tonight will happen out on the field in Brian Schmittscher's starting lineup. What will we see take place here this Saturday at lumin Field in what should be a massive

day for soccer. Will tell you all about the fun coming up here at Lumanfield on Saturday and what we'll see on the field that's next on the post match show and Sounders Weekly Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM. Before we dig into the starting lineups and all of

that. I mean, going back to your playing days, what are year emotions going into these these Darby's, these rivalry matches like this Sounders Timbers and all the history that goes along with it. It's always exciting. Um, you've got a bunch of their fans that all come up here and you know, try to wreck our day and everything like that, and it's always fun to play against them. You get a couple more games than you do against some of the other teams in the league. So um, it's it's always

a good time. I think on Saturday, the boys are gonna be super excited. Um, they're gonna be motivated. Honestly, They're gonna take what happened tonight and turn it into a positive and work really hard and I hope get a result on Saturday. So it's not going to be easy. They've got some knocks, they've got a couple of guys that are out, a couple of suspensions and stuff like that. But we've got a good squad and you know some players like Reid Baker White and he came on and he played

fantastic when he came on. Well, let's start building this because as we talk through this and we think through what Brian Schmenzer can do. Let's just start at the top ral Rudias played what about twenty plus minutes here tonight, and he came on the fifty eighth minute, so actually about thirty minutes. That's a lot of minutes. I would think rawl Rudiaz has the has enough

in him. Whether it's forty five, whether it's sixty, I would think you can start role in this game, you know what, it's a Sometimes you do that, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you wait and you're gonna bring them on to give him a little bit more time to sort of get into it. The other thought is, hey, let's start him and see how long you can go. Right. So that's a coach decision, and I'm sure Brian will be talking to the trainers and sew Row feels after tonight more

of a health thing. Yeah, And to be honest, I mean, there was a couple times where he had to run back and play some defense, but we had them so pinned in on the second half, Row was just roaming around the top of the eighteen. It's not like he had to do a ton of running. So if he didn't get pick up any other like you know, little injuries or anything like that. He should be good to go on Saturday. Okay, so that's so. As long as health

checks out, we're all in there. Let's look at the attacking midfield. You and I were just talking in the break about Nicholas Ladero. He played a full ninety minutes. He played obviously this last Saturday, in the game game against New York Red Bulls. I had a lot for Nicholas Ladero. But you think he has it in him to start again against Portland. I do. He's got so much pride, he's our team captain. I can't see any way that he is not going to start that game on Saturday.

I'd be very very surprised unless he picked up something. It didn't look like he did, because he is busting his tail all over the place tonight. They slid him down when they subbed on Freddy Montero for Robert Russneck, and when they did that, Nico went down. But you're right, they had him so pinned in and Nico wasn't playing her to the traditional you know six

already. He's playing basically as you know, right next to Freddie Montero was staying that high up the field so exactly, he didn't have to do a lot more running from deeper in the park. So I would agree with you. And it's a lot of running for Nico. We saw it a lot last year, where you know, coming off of the twenty twenty one season, Nico had been often uninjured and it was the question of man is that

ad is his injury He's finally gonna catch up with him. But he had such a resurgent year, playing so many times, starting three games in a week the last year, that confidence is sort of like, all right, he can do it. So if Nico can continue that, then suddenly you have your number ten right underneath Rollryds looking at the wings. Brian schmitz Or setting his press conference clears day, we need Leo Chew starting on the left. Leo, choose your left winger, which adds a whole bunch of speed

on the right wing. You had mentioned right before we took the air, Josh A. Tencio had a good game tonight? Did Josh Tencio have a good enough game where you put him next to Jualpolo ju Alpolo, who's back he served his one game suspension tonight. He's back. So did Josh Tencio have a good enough game where you put Josh next to JP and slip Albert up to the right wing, or do you get Tev's there and put JP next to Albert and have that dynamic holding midfield? Yeah, where do you

go? That's that's a very good question. Uh, not really sure. I'd have to think about that a little bit more, but uh, you know, I think Albert's gonna be, you know, fresh to go. Apparently he had a stomach virus during the week and everything and had had to be taken off. But he's gonna be getting fluids and all that kind of stuff. The thing about Nico going back to him and running around and everything.

I'm not in their locker room, but I know that he and the support staff have been working, you know, on how much running he's going to be doing all the time, whether it's in training or in games, to you know, elongate his career, all right, because I mean you think back a few more years ago. I mean he's all over the place now, he's picking and choosing his runs a little bit more tonight at the end of the game, whenever it was getting a little bit you know,

frantic and we were trying to get forward. He was going all over the place. But other than that, he's running smartly and not just running all over the place to get the ball every single time. Yeah, and I think that especially having Albert in there and when Freddie comes in, those are two other outlet guys in the center of the field that can get the ball and do something for going forward. I mean Freddie had a couple of great

long range shots that almost you know, surprise the goalkeeper. One he had to tip out for a corner kick. It's a great point. So whether it's a combination of JP and Albert next to each other with Dylan starting, or whether it's JP and Josh starting with Albert up on the right, there are that's that's the couple options there for Brian Schmitzer. Then look at the back, it's very simple. Stephen Frisen goal knew who's your left back.

Gomez and Johnny and Jackson Reagan your center backs. And then because Alex rolled On got his fifth yellow card that means he has to serve a one game suspension, you would think chance, I mean, Kellen Row is available now. But your thoughts on Reid Baker Whiting today. He came into this match and I think we both thought he looked good. I thought he looked really good. And to be honest, um Ariaga, you know, had been playing a little bit, but he came out super intense, was playing well.

So I think there are some options there, some some things that Brian can can think about. But yeah, the thing about it is that we are not depleted so much with some injuries that we don't have a squad and that he's just putting bandages on. There are a lot of good players there and so Brian the one thing that he is really really good at is taking who is available and putting them together to make a team that's competitive. I mean that he's done that from day one. Chance, great stuff to night
