Focus. The Providence Swedish premad show starts now. Well our Sounders They appear to hit a rough patch earlier this month, but with a win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, maybe, just maybe Seattle is out of the woods and back on track. Tonight we'll find out for sure in another home battle against the San Jose earthquakes. So welcome in to the Sounders FC premat Show presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC.

My name is Jackson Felts. Alongside me is Seattle Sounder great of We're just gonna say a few years back, Chance Fry, Chance, great to have you in the booth tonight. Thanks thanks for having me. I appreciate it being back. It's a little bit overcast tonight here at lumin Field. There isn't a lot of blue sky. It's a relatively warm evening. Should make

for some perfect soccer conditions tonight for the Sounders. We'll get to a lot here on the premat show as we count you down to kickoff on the Emerald Queen Casino. Countdown to kick off from Emerald Queen Casino. Pitch at lumin Field Sounders and San Jose Earthquakes coming up in just over a half hour, so Chance, we'll get to the lineups here, and we'll get to the injury situation. There's a lot to report on that before we dig into everything

going on. As always, we look back a little bit and this last Saturday was finally appeared to be coming out of the rough patch. We got a great defensive game at home, created a bunch of goal scoring chances, executed on the needed goal from Jordan Morris. Yes he was hurt on it. We'll get to that later, but Chance, it finally felt like Sounders soccer again last Saturday, it was great to see that one nothing win. Yeah, it was a great win. And sometimes you gotta battle through games

like that and get the opportunistic goal that Jordan had and everything. And I think tonight's a perfect opportunity to capitalize on that and build on it, especially with San Jose struggling on the road. That's exactly right. And we'll get deep into San jose struggles a little bit later on in the prematch show,

because yeah, it's struggling. Is a saying a minel for sure, they have a rough time indeed, But you know, one of the things chants that we talked to Brian Schmitzer about this was before the New York match was listen. Overall, four of the last five had been losses across all competitions, and you need veteran leaders to speak up now more you hearing guy step up? And then Brian said, now, not any more than usual. This is a team that you know is very grounded, They're mentally strong.

They don't get fatigued then to le easily. And I think that's one of the other characteristics we saw of that match was a team that came out of the gates not looking like they had looked in previous weeks. They kind of came out of it saying were the Seattle freaking Sounders weren't here to play Sounder side. That was another thing that stood out to me in that match was the team mentally looked like they were back. Yeah, and a good,

strong mental team with a lot of veteran players. They're gonna do that. And if you look back at last season, there were a lot of freak classes, weird things that happened, and I wouldn't anticipate something like anything like that happening this year. I think they're gonna be solid down the stretch. Barring they don't get, you know, any more injuries or anything like that. Jordan can stay healthy and I think they'll be fine. I'm always confident

with the Sounders going down the stretch. Even last year, I was saying right at the end, there's no I would have bet a million dollars and it just didn't happen that one time. You Know, It's funny because I remember that broadcast where we had in we were standing right here for that match in Toronto where Dylan Tevis got his first start. Your player to watch prediction.

He scores a goal, and in that postmatch show of that win, that's exactly what we were saying was, you know, everything right now is looking good. We're looking to kind of go right back and then lots of you're right, lots of weird things happened last year, you know, the Orlando match, the Galaxy match, so many weird things that that we won't see in another season again. So hopefully, hopefully now after this little last run here in the month of May, we're back on track here and it

will start against the San Jose earthquake. So let's jump in and let's start talking about this match here tonight. Chance, let's get to that delta. Starting eleven for the Sounders tonight. So who we've got at the back who

we're always happy to have as Stephen Fry. The back four is going to be Alex Rodon Jackson, Reagan, Javier Ariaga and Knew Who And through the midfield Dylan Tevez, Albert Rusnak who has come off of having some sickness during the week, but I guess he's okay, Joshua Tensio and then Leo Chi off to the left, and then Nico attacking upfront and Abart leading the line. Pretty strong team for the Sounders. We'll talk about them for in just

a minute. Looking at the San Jose Earthquakes, they have Daniel de Sosa Brito in goal, Paul Marie Tanner, Beeson, Miguel Roco and Rodriguez as your four defenders. Carlos Grezo Jackson Yule is their captain. He's in the midfield next to Jamiro Montero, and then they're three attackers, Christian Espinosa, who's having a phenomenal season right now. You could probably pencil them into somewhere in the All Star team at this point. By the way, All Star

voting just went live MLS Soccer dot com. You can jump in and make your votes for MLS All Stars and vote your Sounders in. Jeremy Ebobisi is another attacker in the middle, and Benji Kikinovich is over there on the left. So that's what San Jose is throwing out. But really quick chance, let's go back to the Sounders lineup. And before we do, all quickly mentioned the bench of this team, because it should be noted. Freddy Montero, Reed Baker, Whiting, Kelen Row back. He's back from his knee

strain off the injury report. Kellen Rose back, Yamar Gomez Andrade is on the bench there, but it is hobby or are you're giving the starter as you mentioned Stephen Cleveland, Travian suses up from Tacoma on a short term agreement, Soda Kahara a Bissoko and Jan's great to see this guy on the bench. We're all rudied yeaz. He was on the bench on Saturday, didn't get to play. It would be great to see Role get some minutes tonight. Yeah, it would be great. Word is that they want to get

him in fifteen twenty twenty five minutes or something like that. But Roll is a great player to watch, very exciting, can score and so can Freddie as well. Freddie can come off the bench and strike from from for any moment. So yeah, great solid bench. They're a great starting lineup and looking for a really strong performance from the team tonight. Before we break down the starting lineup quickly, let's dive into the Providence Swedish team health report.

I mentioned Kellen role back from Matt nice Brain, Christian rolled On was actually no longer listed as out. He was actually listed as questionable still and can cussion protocol, So very good news as we believe that Christian rolled On is extremely close to returning to the twenty man lineup. It's just a matter of when rather than if. At this point Christian will be back very soon. Now only questionable. Ethan Double are also questionable with the right ankle sprain.

He's not available. The guys on the outside of this on the out part of this list, Cody Baker, he's added to the injury report. He got it is now in concussion protocol. We also have Jordan Morris in chance.

Jordan Morris seeing him go down Saturday was tough, and we saw it on the goal where Chu puts the cross in and as Morris is making that run, he has to open up his hips just a little bit and that leads to the groin injury though the officially at left adductor sprain, and that was tough to see for Jordan out what we think is a couple of weeks. But you know, great that it came on a goal, Terrible that

it came at all. Yeah, No, It's one of those things and people can if you don't understand and you're walking through your house and you you accidentally snag your toe on the chair something like that, and it opens up your leg. And that's exactly what happened. He opened himself up. The ball hits and you can see it immediately because he does a little hop in a skip as he doesn't even celebrate. Yeah, he could feel it. And h These guys know their bodies so well. I mean, I remember

when I was playing. The first thing you do as you wake up and before you get out of bed, you're just taking stock of what's wrong with your body and when you know everything, So he knew it immediately. He doesn't have to be his dad as the doctor. He knew he had done something. Have you had a groin like that before and in a similar goal scoring chance? Nothing that happened like that. But I've had a little bit of a groin injury and luckily nothing too bad. But it's very painful.

And you don't understand how much you use certain muscles until you hurt them. That's a good point right there. I'm learning that at the age of thirty rounds fifty eight you'll know for sure. God, I don't look further that county down here on the Emerald Queen Casino Countdown and kickoff. Seattle Sunders hosting the San jose A Earthquakes had an overcast Emerald Queen Casino pitch of lou Field

Jackson felt a Chance brit here with the Providence Swedish a prematch show. But Chance, let's talk about that starting lineup, and you know, one of the things coming into this game was I was expecting with Portland coming up on Saturday, huge match. And you add that with building the equation here. The first part of the equation is knowing you have a massive match agains Polm

on Saturday. The next part of the equation is the comments from Brian Spencer after the lost in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago where the team lost that and they were they lost to Austin midweek and then Vancouver on that Saturday, and after that game, you know, they looked tired. It looked like a team that had just lost its legs. And you look back at the lineups and you said, well, there was very little rotation. It was just go, go, go, try to get these good results and they

didn't come and it led to tired legs. Now we see this lineup here today, Chance, knowing once again that you have a three match week Poland coming up on Saturday. It's interesting to me how little rotation Brian Schmitzer has it his formation tonight. Yeah, I think Brian looks at it as an opportunity, a great opportunity to take down a team that's struggling on the road. San Jose fourteen straight road matches winless. That's four draws and ten losses.

And this doesn't matter for this season, but they do hold the MLS record for the longest away win drought at twenty in the two thousand and eight two thousand and nine seasons. So I think that it's it's one of those things where if we can jump on these guys early, get a couple of goals, maybe he can bring some players off and rest him for the weekend. That would be very prefable, if you can go up a couple of

goals and take off your Nicholas Ladero. The interesting thing for me chance is Leo Chu with George Morris out, you look at the ability of this team to stretch defenses and stretch the field on both this game and the Portland game. I hate to look forward too much to Portland, but listen as a Sounder fan found fan first. More than anything, I always look ahead to Portland and knowing that Leo's choose legs are gonna be so important because you don't

have a Jordan Morris to struct the defense. His ability to get up and down the field and use his speed to stretch. I do wonder how many minutes he goes tonight, and if you do, don't try to pull him off as soon as you can to say that speed for Portland. Yeah, I know that there's all the statistics with science and everything like that, but here's the deal. You can run a lot, and then when you get

down to Portland, you're gonna play. He can push himself even harder and further than he probably thinks he can, and even farther than the doctors think. So, yeah, I'm not gonna be worried about that, and you want to take You don't want to sacrifice one game for another because you don't know how it's gonna be in Portland. We go tonight, we take care of tonight, and then we worry about Portland later. It should be mentioned

there for everybody who's looking ahead to Portland coming up here this Saturday. It is the doubleheader match Sounders hosting the Timbers. It's gonna be a one thirty pre match one five kickoff right here on ninety three point three KJR FM for Saturday here against the Timbers, and then just a few hours after that or a couple hours after that game ends ol Rain hosting the Pearland Thorns. So

get out to Lumanfield Sounders FC dot com slash tickets. Additional tickets have been made available to see the doubleheader Sounders hosting Timbers, Rain hosting Thorns coming up this Saturday. Should make for a very fun day of soccer here at Blumenfield. Chance looking at the rest of this team, you know it's such a strong midfield where you have your Russ snack, your atensio. Joal Polo,

he's not available. He right now is suspended two yellow cards in the match against New York also Obed Vargas. He right now is actually with the United States U twenties at the U twenty World Cup. They're in the quarterfinals. They won four nothing over New Zealand yesterday. They're now in the quarterfinals where they'll face either Uruguay or Gambia on Saturday. That's down in Argentina. So

chance it is josh Atensio sliding in. And when we look at the lineup, we look at chances for young players to continue to make their mark. Atencio has done well, he started a Club World Cup game, but for him just another chance. To say to Brian Schmenzer, I deserve a lot of time. Yeah. No, He's definitely getting his opportunities and you have to take advantage of whether it's people who are gone or injuries or whatever it is. And I look forward to seeing the young guys get their chances and

doing well. San Jose is also missing a couple of guys that are at the under twenties. Nico Sakas and Kaid cal are with the squad as well, so they'll be missing missing those two young guys. They certainly are. Kaid cal As a tremendous young player. He's scored a couple great goals from the United States U twenties, including one at this tournament that was just astounding.

Finally, chance we'll look at that backline hobby or our Yaga getting the start for Yamar would think that it's just a matter of rest hobby coming in there. But when we talk about guys needing to grab their opportunities. I mean, Jackson Reagan came into this season and he's dole that starting spot straight up, stole it from Javey, and the MLS came out with them and then they released the player's salaries. You look at what Jackson's right, make

it Reagan's making. You look at Javier Ariaga is making. Javirar is probably saying to himself, Listen, I have look at how much I mean, I have the quality, right I am a very highly paid, talented, TAM level player. I should be getting more time. You would think that in an opportunity like this, any opportunity to start a game, he's gonna try to grab his opportunity. Yeah, I mean sometimes it's just timing.

I mean, if you've got a group of guys that are working well together, especially at the back, and you've got a guy like Javier who's sitting out and he might be on some you know, decent money or anything like that, sometimes you just have to go with what's working and um, he

will get his opportunity. Over the course of the season. There's gonna be gaps where guys are injured or whatever it is, and he'll get his time to get in there, and hopefully he'll do great tonight and get forward and maybe get his head on a corner kick or something like that and get a goal. That'd be nice. I like that idea. That's that's a really good shout right there, because you think about Hobby and his ability in the year it's there, it's just been always a couple of feet off one way

or a couple of feet off another way. The game in Vancouver, wearing something like the nineteenth minute, Freddie heads a corner kick down lands right at Hobby's foot and he puts it about five feet wide of the goal, so he's close. He sees these opportunities. He's getting these opportunities. Just kind of put it in the back of the net. Would be great to see

tonight. Chance. Let's get right now to our Sounders FC players to watch for tonight's match against San Jose. Which one player you looking at for Seattle. I'm gonna look for a guy up top, a bear. I really think that he's been playing well. He just once again, he's also missed a couple of shots that in his lifetime he knows he probably should have done

a little bit better with and was expecting to. You could see the disappointment, and I just have this gut feeling that tonight might be a couple goal breakout nights and a portal. Last time you came on and predicted a goal for somebody, Dylan Tevis were made that work out. So letope a Bear does get back the way he started that season. Because I think you're absolutely right. I just spoke about Hobby Oriaga and and you know, kind of

I was playing with somebody else. I'm gonna jump with Oriaga because I think, yeah, if if you can get a set piece goal in this game, he has been so close to putting balls in the back of the net, it's just a little bit off. If he can just hit the right angle of the day, then that kind of a set piece goal would give you a lead, and then you're off and run and you can take guys off. Hopefully in the second half you can get another one rock and roll.

So I'm watching for Hobby to night. Don't make a mistake, play strong, defensively, show coach that you deserve more opportunities, and get your head on a bowl. Get a ball in the back of the net. So those are our players, so watch. I'll also tell you that earlier when we were talking about the injury situation in Jordan. Tonight's team health report

was presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. But we are just about twenty minutes away from kick here at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at luman Field Todnight's countdown A kickoff is presented by emeraldque Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. We'll take a break, we'll come back and take a

look at these visiting San Jose earthquakes. Chance gave you an interesting stat will go over that again, talk about these earthquakes coming in tonight at louin Field. More next on the prematch show Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFF. Welcome back to Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Louenfield, where you're Seattle Sounders are preparing to face these San Jose earthquakes. We went over to Seattle and

their lineup in the strong lineup putting out from Brian Schnenzer. Now let's take a look at the visitors and getting to our sharp vision opponent ALC and it is San Jose. They are five five and four. They injured the day at fifth place in the Western Conference with nineteen points. Should be noted they've lost out on about ten points here of late by giving up goals to teams in at a time and moreover one win since April fifteenth. That one win

it was at two to one upset of LAFC home on May sixth. But other than Matt losses to RSL LAFC a couple of weeks ago, La Galaxy ikes on May fourteenth, draws against Austin and Dallas, and most notably got bounced in the Open Cup by Monterey Bay in April. Chance, this is a team, and you reference at the previous segment, they have struggled a very late and they've certainly struggled on the road. Yeah, and you mentioned those six second half stoppage time goals, including last week in Dallas, And

yeah, they are struggling. But the one thing that I think will have zero chance of happening is a zero zero game. They have only gotten two clean sheets and have only been shut out twice, and we've only been shut out four times this year. So there's goals in these two teams right, and there's goals to be given up, hopefully done by us by Stephan Fry. But I think that you know, San Jose is struggling right now and this is a perfect opportunity. We said it before, just to take them

down. It's always a fun time play. And I'll mention the first time if people don't know this first time that the San Jose played in Seattle just crossed town at Memorial Stadium, over twelve thousand people there. The Sounders won three one. You're talking about how old I am. I was nine years old at that game and we had season tickets. Somebody do the math.

Nobody needs to do the math there. But over the years and over the decades, there's been some great matchups between these two teams, great games. Well reference you there, and I think it's important to bring up and in chance Fry once again here on the prematch show. My name is Jackson Felts. We're counting you down to kickoff for Seattle in San Jose. The chance in your long playing great you played in San Jose for a couple of different

years, and thank you very much. And you know, when we look at San Jose and the earthquakes, you know, I would love to kind of hear from your perspective as somebody who play with your these organizations the culture of soccer down in San Jose, because it hasn't been great of recent years, but it's it's it's certainly a long dated and proud franchise. Yeah, and uh, I played for the Earthquakes in eighty six and then another team called the Blackhawks in ninety one, both in the Bay Area. I have

a great affection for the Bay Area. Um, the culture of soccer in the Bay Area is amazing. Uh. The Earthquakes have kind of been up and down over the years. They've won a couple of championships, but um, you know lately they have been struggling a little bit. But in the Bay Area, it's very strong supporters, an amazing franchise that has been around since nineteen seventy four. And um, you know, if if I wasn't voting for rooting for the Sounders tonight, I had actually been rooting for the

for the Earthquakes. I do have a great affection for that area and the people down there are lots of good friends. Well, I mean, it's a franchise that you in recent years they dealt with the head coach, matiss All made in the Mexican coach. He came in instituted a man marking system, which is exactly you know, to describe it is exactly what it is. It's a man marketing system and it decided at least didn't worked out very

well. We all remember the seven to one win for the Sounders here at Loubin Field over San Jose a few years ago during the the COVID season and chance out is Mattias Almida in is a new guys all I should say if it's a new guy, but Lucie Gonzalez the new man in charge, tons of experience, spend a bunch of years in Dallas, spent time underneath Greg Berhalter as an assistant with the United States menis national team when they went to the World Cup just this last round. So this is a new couch.

Luci Gonzalez his experience at a youth level, and there are a bunch of young talented players with San Jose. He has experience with good tactical systems with Dallas. This is the seems like the right guy to lead this team right now. Yeah, he has a great record of developing young players. He proved that in Dallas and now one of their main goals is to get their academy to top ranked in the San Jose. So he's a great coach, no doubt about it. And just like Brian schmittz Or, you have to

respect those coaches and what they can do. Sometimes it doesn't happen overnight, and give them a little bit of time. But I have no doubt that he's gonna do good things with that franchise. Well, you know, it's interesting we went over the goals they've given up an extra time. There's a lot of them. There's ten points on the table of goals. If they had collected those ten points, that put some basically nearer at the top of the Western Conference right now. So San Jose is not far off at all.

Entered the day fifth place in the Western Conference. This is a talented team. It's not a team that Seattle can overlook at all, especially considering there's next to no rotation on their Wednesday squad. Tonight, they're still putting out Christian Espinoza eight goals, three assists on the year. Jeremy Ibobasi he has five goals and a couple assists himself. Jackson Yule's kind of Jackson Yule is a funny player, young United States player, was on all the youth

national teams, playing right alongside a bunch of young Sounder players. But Jackson Yule, yes, he's their captain, but he's still hasn't necessarily become the star that I think a lot of people around US soccer, including San Jose, thought he was gonna be. Jackson Yule is kind of just you know, he's he's a good solid midfielder, but he just hasn't gone to that next level yet. And I mean, I don't know, maybe maybe there is a game that kind of sets off a chain reaction where the kid reignites

that potential that we saw on him for a number of years. But he's leading things from the Caps to spot in the midfield for them. Yeah, and it'll be interesting to see how they come out and play. As you say, they put out a strong lineup, and are they going to press us or try to press us, or will they drop back and soak up the pressure, you know, because they have been struggling. They don't want to give up early goals because the thing is with our speed going forward,

and counterattacking. I think that if they if they do press us and we get by, we could get a couple of goals earlier. That's right. That's a lot of part in the tactics of the keys to this match. So let's take another break. We'll come back, we'll talk about those keys, we'll go over the all time record between these two clubs. There is still content to get to here in the Providence Sweetish Frematch Show, we are just about ten minutes away from kick here Emma Queen Casino Pitch at lumen Field.

Tonight's countdown and kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. More Next on the prematch show sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back to Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield where you're Seattle Sounders. They are just about eight minutes away from kicking things off here against the San Jose Earthquakes. Danny Jackson, Steve Zakiwanni, Michelle Lutka.

We'll have the call with Michelle there on the sideline Danny Jackson and Steve Vackson. Was Steve Zakiwani here in the booth. But rapping up the Providence Sweedish prematch show, Jackson Felts and Chance Pry here in the booth before we get to the keys to the match, before we hit the lines some more time, I'll tell you all time here in MLS Seattle's fifteen twelve and nine against San Jose. Last time they played was a two two drought last October.

Should be mentioned really quickly. Nicholas Ladaro all time here in these In his eleven games against San Jose, Nko has six goals and seven assists in those eleven games. So Nico shines in these matches here against San Jose. Not bad at all. Chancellor's jump back to Seattle's lineup in the Delta starting eleven. What is Brian Spencer putting out tonight. So we've got our rocks Stephen Fry back in goal, Alex Rodan Jackson, Reagan, Avira, Ariaga and

Nuhu across the back. Through the midfield, we've got Dylan Tevez, Albert Rusnak, josh Atensio and Leo Chiu flying down the left, and Nico Ladero's going to be attacking out of the midfield with a bar up top strong lineup there for head coach Brian Spencer. For San Jose, they put out Danielle Daniel excuse me, their goalkeeper, Paul Marie Tanner, Peace and Miguel Chaco

and Rodriguez are the defenders. Grazo Yule Montero the midfielders with them attacking three of Espinoza, Ibobasi and Kikanovich. Alright, chance, let's get to this keys to the match here for Seattle to get a second straight win after last Saturday and continue this week. Right, what needs to happen? First, clean sheet, no goals against, get goals and hopefully plenty of them. And third, if we can do that, we can get some players off

and rest him for the weekend. Absolutely, let's let's ta get into the clean sheet bart of it, because you look at this team. What happened to start this season? Five straight clean sheets at home? Then you have Austin and Sporting Kansas City, both of them come in here and score a couple goals. Very uncharacteristic of the Sounders from back to back games to give up two goals last weekend, you got back on track. Now today you look at that back four of a new who Reagan and Alex rolled on and

then Jabbia Ariaga getting the start for Gomez Andrade. That right, there is a back four that. Yeah, it's a midweek match, but other than Ariaga Gomez Onrade and even then, I mean that's not a huge drop off. He's still a international Equatorian center back. That's a strong back for that should absolutely be able to keep a clean sheet tonight. Yeah, definitely they should be. But you have to respect the abilities of a guy like Christian

Espinoza. He can get goals. And you know what, all these guys are out here for reason. They're good players, so respect them, work hard and I think that if they do that, we should be able to clean things up. Absolutely, And you listen to San Jose's lineup and they aren't doing as much rotation. Rote respecting rotation heavy teams, it's not what you're getting tonight. This could be a lively, lively match with both teams

starting. And finally it should be noted we'll wrap with this Ralrudy has back on the bench. To see him tonight, His chance in the second half would be great to see. It would be amazing and it would be amazing to hear the fans shouting, I love that, would would love a goal call that with that celebratory, especially if the Sounders got that to lead three nothing at that point. We could have some players resting by that point. We just need a very fast start. Let's get on San Jose. They're

not good on the road. Make sure you get off on the front foot. Start this thing off right, make the home fans go home happy chance, and I will stop aside. We'll be back for the halftime show also hour long postgame tonight, but we'll step aside. Danny Jackson, Steve Zakiwani in the booth, Michelle Lutca on the sideline. The call for San Jose Seattle minute one is next. On Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.

Good evening from EQUC Pitch at lumen Field, where your Sounders take on Western Conference rival this San Jose Earthquakes twenty twenty three has been a turnaround season so far for San Jose under new coach Luchi Gonzalez. Gone is a perplexing man for man defensive

system that confused just about everyone. Replaced now by a team with more balance and cohesion from perennial underachievers, San Jose is looking a true mid season contender for the playoffs for the Sounders. Tonight is the second game of a three game homestand with Portland coming up this weekend. As Brian Schmitzer said, you can only win three home games if you win your first. Well job done last Saturday. Now the focus will be to convert possession into more goal scoring

opportunities and earn a win against another historic rival. My name is Danny Jackson, sitting alongside Saunders legend Steve Zaquani for the call tonight, Steve as the teams get ready to go Sounders in their Rave Green, what can they learn from that grind out win against New York from last Saturday and apply to tonight's game. Yeah, I think that. You know, the goal is at home to entertain and to be pretty, but it doesn't always have to be

that way. And we saw momos of good football. But what would have impressed Brian schmittzer the malls was how they dug deep when they went down to ten men. The team stayed strong, defended well, faced a lot of pressure in that second half, and they bent but did not break. So the lesson there is try to play a good football, but you can always win in more than one way, and a Sounder should. At this possib weekend, we did red card early injury for the goal scorer, Jordan Morris.

We're here from Brian and the coaching staff and the medical team. Will be a several weeks before Jordan's back, but I think better news than we all initially expected, as he limped off that field right after he scored that goal, and again it was a Chew Morris combination, the first time we've seen that since that game against La Galaxy on April first, So referee gets us going here. Sounders attacking the goal to our left, the north end.

As the ball goes along and Alex Roaldn wins his first header to Dylan Tevers and we'll get to that lineup right now. The Delta starting eleven for your Sounders. A couple of changes from Brian Schmitzer. Fri stays in goal, a back for Roll darn Ariaga comes in for Yama Reagan and then knew Who in for Cody Baker, Atensio, Rusnak, TeVeS, Ladero Chew and it bear up front as a Sounders pick it up with Atensi. You're playing alongside Rusnack today. JP is suspended for one game, should be back for

the Portland game. As the ball comes along as TeVeS tucked inside, wins the ball, plays it across to Alex Roldan on that right hand side, playing that advanced right back position that we've seen him play so well this season. Mariaga back in the lineup, picking it up at the back with new Who back from Malaria gets a start again on that left back position. The sound has built out the back. We'll get to that San Jose team momentarily

put it out strong team as Luca Gonzalez for this game San Jose. Kikinovic picks it up with Yule on the left hand side to be Troco on the left and so throw him for San Jose. So let's give you that lineup for San Jose, Luca Gonzales putting out a full three three is Daniel Ingol, Marie Rodriguez, Beeson and Troco in the back, Yule, Rozzo and Montera in the midfield, and then Espinoza, Ibobs and Kikanovic up front. So Steve lot going on in town today as the crowd starts to get in.

But for the sounders about Tempo at the beginning, about Tempo started a game, Well start quickly and you're seeing him already with Nikon a darrel leading a high press. The San Jose a team doll is very talented and if you do press them and it's not organized, they can pick you apart. You've gotta be careful and pick them, choose your moments. Espinosa with a

strike collected by Stephen Fry. Espinosa really break out year for Espinosa so far it goals on the year tracking with Jordan Morris towards the top end of MLS Bowonga at top bro Jordian Morris got to nine goals this past weekend against New York for a second but having lunch with Chris Leech and old teammate of Minor North Carolina GM for San Jose. A lot of work being done both on the field and then behind the scenes at San Jose. But there seem to

be primed to have a more optimistic future moving forward. Yeah, it does seem to be now. They sort of found their foot in you had a few so years and it seemed to be heading in the right direction. And Luca Gonzales nose to sleep very very well, did do some good work. We've gotta see Dallas and also of the under twenties national team, so knows the landscape of football in this country very very well and he's got some good

players to work with. Ball giving away the Sounders Montero this near side, the right picks it up, wriggles three of a couple of challenges and the Sounders finds itself to kicking up with top of the box. It's it why goal kicks. Sounders remains nail nil just a sloppy giveaway. Then we saw this at the weekend too, where at times of Sounders can be their own worst enemy. We understand they want to play and build out of the back, but I get the sense with Leo Chu he's probably gonna win most of

his foot races and when teeth player high line san Jose has done. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with dumping a ball in behind, asking you to chase it, edging up your back line, and then playing the game in the opponent's half. So try to make the build up as Sounders have. But when you give it away, you're giving good players and incentive to pressure and win the ball high and break you down, which a sword at Santose

couldn't take advance from that occasion. But I stopping to watch for as this game develops, what was the ball goes long picked up by Espino's in the middle of the first time this evening, we're gonna throw down to Michelle luck you're on the sideline. Good evening, Michelle, good evening you guys.

Yeah, not the quite the excitement we wanted to see there from San Jose, but we want to keep the see the Sounders continuing to maintain control and really build off the performance we saw over the weekend with the win over New York. Stephen Fry said it best after that win that it's a privilege to be on the winning train and it's not that you're now on it that you can just write it. You got to keep working to stay on that train.

And he was one of many players that really said that gritty performance on Saturday eight did wonders for this team and their soul and really hoping to keep that momentum going because it'll make this three match week that much better if they do. Thanks Michelle as Stephen Fried Dicktown all yellow plecks. The ball knocks it long. Stephen of course got his eighth clean sheet on the season, tops MLS for that stat. Sixth clean sheet at home and certainly I think

really strong performance with step and Fry. A couple of really good saves, one from a header and then certainly that breakaway as well. He made a great left handed save to keep the Sounders ahead when they were down to ten men. The San Jose on the fast side there left, they're attacking the gold twire right the south end ball comes in picked up by Montero top of the box, grud So to Yule, to Bobs, who's had a real

lease of life in San Jose playing that number nine. Of course, remember his time at Portland so well, good combination with Espino's the top of the box thirty yards from goal, shifts out to Roco on the left hand side, tries to flick to the far post and he finds him to Marie and he goes down low and it's cleared eventually by Roll Dard. He was a saved by Steph friend Friday was a calm composed shot by Maria. As the ball came to that far post, it's gonna be a corner kicked. San

Jose stea really really good football with sand Jose. I mean the intricate passing, the triangles. You don't often see teams come to him infield and do that. Brought the Sounders down. Only got a corner from it, but that's a clipse of what that attacking cork andrew for San Jose. Lespinoza.

Another corner kick leads that stat in MLS by about twenty corner kicks on Ladero at the ball comes in intowing of the right foot, goes to the front post cleared eventually by Ladero, goes all the way back to growd so as he clips the ball from center to left, won by Alex Roldan with his head cleared further upfield by your bear, just lofted up into the air, touched by San Jose, finds Jackson, Yule and San Jose able to build

out the back balls nearside the right goes into Marie, who came off injured in the last game, but he's able to recover in time for this game because he said, Luci Gonzale is putting out you're actually strongest eleven as it was. Rodriguez goes in a little late on Leo Chu, right in front of Luci Gonzalez, who's talk to the fourth official. But Steve Leo two got bashed around the last game, and yeah, it since to be starting exactly where he left up. And I think teams are beginning to not it's

just if you give him time in space, you'll punish you. And so they've been taught get as tire as possible, don't let him time leave a mark early on, and it's up to Tue to respond. We've seen great places in this seat. Let land, and don't evan go through it where you get physical with them and the great ones they always find a way to rise above it and respond and still be dangerous. So that's the next age, real true. He's no longer a hidden quantity. We know what he's

about, we know how dangerous he is. He's crossings improved, he has an end product now and so as you get paid a bit tight time, more physical, can you still be good? Leo two got a sixth assists

for that Jordan Morris goal at the weekend. There was a drought of assist that went back, so that La Galaxy again the same game that Jordan Morris scored his last goal, and that was a combination between Two and Morris as a Sounders now build it out the bat with Jackson Reagan playing on the right hand side of the back for today from his customary left side, as Yama takes a seat on the bench, takes a rest ahead of the game this

weekend, and certainly a worthy replacement in Oriaga. And I'll ask you this, Danny, because for me, as a winger, playing left all right was a shoes difference defensively left on a back rest on a back too much difference or not. It is depends on how you build out of the back, if you'd like to switch with your right foot coming inside. It's definitely

different from a distribution standpoint. Yeah, But I would say also is the player to your left, you know, there's a little surprising Jackson Reagan comfortable on the left hand side certainly right footing. Yeah, the player that left alongside knew who's a comfort facts about you know, Oriagan and now Reagan are

probably comfortable in both sparts. But there is definitely a slight difference as the ball goes back to Daniello in the goal came in from Brazil, the top goalkeeper statistics wise in the Brazilian league last year, gets pulled in as a starting goalkeepers. Dara tries to find it bare top of the box out by

San Jose. Cleared is the Bobs who picks the ball up and lays the ball all the way to the left hand side, the fast side, the left deep in San Jose half of the field, with Troco finds Montera to

Yule. Certainly Montero and Rozo came in to this team experienced both a Dallas and Philadelphia Union, so we recognize those names and Chris Leech, the GM and Luci Gonzales building a team of good quality and balances Jackson you as Kickanobich picks it up to Roso sitting in that defensive midfield position to Rodriguez, finds Montero has been lively so far, moving from left to right, ball down the line first time, finds Esperos, who's at a real solid start to

the year. All back to Montera and True comes back. No foul given and it's True breaks with the ball that's near side the left is to find it bare sloppy pass but eventually finds itself to Attensio with a bad tory Arguin find yourself back all the way to Stephan Frey Well. Sound As FC Soccer

is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. As you get into the tenth minute here at EQUC Pitch at Looming Field, ninety three point three KGr FM for Paul, goes down the line, runs over the end line for a goal kick for saund Jose, but it remains nil nil.

Here as a Sounders trying to find that second win in a row, a three game homestretch started last Saturday against New York got the one nil win, backs the goal grind out result, and then on Saturday, of course, to get some revenge over their arch rival Portland after that four one last down in Portland earlier in the season. If find see if this team can

respond to that loss. On Saturday, free kick Sounders fast light the right comes in quickly with Ladera tries to find tevis It does levers well cut out by on the left back for San Jose, but it's gonna trickle out of bounds. The fast side the right hand side with Alex roll down about eight

yards from the corner flag. Saunders with the ball a bear getting another start up front, finds himself inside the box, checks to the ball, finds it layoff to roll down, goes into the middle of the field, eludes both Rosnack and at Tenia, but finds itself back to Oriaga to Jackson Reagan ll Do. Rosnack played a solid game against the Red Bulls up and down the field. Was part of the goal that the Sounders scored. It was a distribution to Leo Chio on the left hand side Josh Tencio. Steve gets

another start tonight. It's been solid so far, got a bit of an injury picked up after scoring that great goal. What does he have to do tonight to kind of continue to evolve his game? Yeah, And I think for Josh is just continuing. It's now on the board, off the board, he'll cover Brown, He'll make his tackles. It's one in it. Can you connect that first pass? And his job isn't to make the game for the Sounders is to give it to Rusnak, give it to Ladero Leo

True the attacking guys in advanced position. So it's a very simple game. Win the ball destroyed and allow Rusnack to be more of the free roaming player and then just be prepared to shut down guys like Montero Espinosa when they come into his area. Two. Because about John Parlo, the Sounder is due

miss a bit of that tenacity. Defensively, ball on the fast side the right for the Sounders comes inside to Ladera s Rusnak keeping the ball going from center to left so that the new who gives the ball away Jackson you was able to pick it up, tries to find the ball down the line. Espinosa is able to go and Sethron firig to danger world close. There's left up. There's going to be a throne for San Jose and Sounders territory about

thirty yards from the corner. Flight this near side the San Jose right quickly into Espinosa for Jackson York. Back to your hutch. The ball in clared by Ariaga finds itself to Tervers. Louis touched by Tervers, given away the Sounders win it flicked around the corner by russnat Leo tune out a bit of space and time to open up the field. Try to switch the board to a bear cutout well by Beason and Troco on that left hand side is able to pick it up. Ball in the middle of the field. Rusnack picks

it up. Good tempo to the game so far Sounders and the attacking throd of the field. Top of the boxes. Ladera flicked the back post TEMs able to collect it down. Well played by San Jose, Sounders throwing on the fast side the right and that was good from the Daro. I think he had the option to play Chu, but as Ldero took a few more touches, a few more touches the space really closed down and in the end does the right thing pain aboard towards the back post just alluded Tever's there.

But the sound is beginning to find their footing and control and more of the game happening now in the soundles the off or get switched a new who. The sound has build up possession and the attacking part for the field with Leo Chu the left hand side comes inside towards his white foot little combination with a backtop of the box center right foot slash goes far and wide and a goal kick for San Jose. But good build up for the Sounders remains nil nil

and that's good from Leo Ju. And you'd like to see that. Yes, can you take guys on on the outside, of course, but if the defenders showing you insight, go inside and he did down that occasion. There's a nice one too, Abed. That's what Abe has as well to hold up blade. The finish left a lot to be desired, but very good approach plate well. June is Pride Month support. Earthquakes nil. And this Western Conference matchup San Jose. Start of the season so well, Perennial underachieve achievers as we mentioned last year at bottom of the Western Conference, but this year getting a really good start, and the statistic of the day here we go, yes, if the San Jose, I'll give you a minute, as the Sounds filled up tempo with Atensio down

the line and rolled out of bounds. So San Jose have given up eight points after the ninetieth minute, Oh wow, with goals have conceded, they've lost eight points going into a position of ties or wins in the nineteenth minute, that would put them actually in the first spot in the Western I was going to say they're sitting decent entertain nineteen points. Yeah wow, that would

have put them into twenty seven points. The Sounders coming into tonight's game sitting first at twenty six so shows a little work still to do to close out games for San Jose. But they've got the ability and certainly the players now putting in those performances. As the sounders picked up the ball top of the box. Ladera good switch, a play from center to right, whipped in by roll done, good cross attensio top of the box, twenty left foot

driven blocked wins his header. Tevis cleects at top of the box, wriggles free from pressure as a sound has now got some sustained momentum in the attacking third ghost to lord arrow right hand side, little cut ball inside the box of Tevis flicks it out, collect it well by Daniel easy collection as he tries to click the ball quickly as he slides out the ching yard box. But the Sounders are going to come again, and it's attentio time and space

in the middle of the field. Finds a look Darro ball into Tevis, who's coming inside of that right spot, leaving the space open for roll down, who's pinned on that right hand side, that fast side the right for the sounders as a Sounders start again and build out crowd behind it now certainly appreciate the effort as Brian Schweitzer did this past weekend and trying to find another

three points to get their season going again. After a bit of a stumble in May, back on track this past Saturday, as Ariaga skips by my Terror flicks the ball from center to the far left hand side. Leo Truth comes inside on its right foot low combination again with the Bears, he finds Ladero left corner of the box, it's near side, goes back to new in support, back to Ladera left channel down towards the end line to Neu whips the ball in cut out by Marie, but it's Leo True picks it

off Espinoza and the end line and it runs out of bounds. Gold kick. San Jose remains Neil Neil, And I've got to say this is as good as I've seen Nicoladero in a long time. He's everywhere, and the sounds influencing a game grind. It'scause of number ten. He's getting every third or fourth pass. It's him. Had a couple of the delightful fruit balls. Put some process in he yes, has he ust a step. Yes, you cannot sustain what he did for sevent eight years. It's very hard

to do. But there are still moments where his highest level is just so high and it really elevates the team, and tonight we'll see an example of a fully locked in inspired Lekoladero and that can only be good news for the soundness. Well the Derris sitting or seventy five assists, which is the most of any active player. Five assists on the season, already one goal,

the penalty. It's sporting casey. Just a number of weeks ago. As a board goes along, it's episode Alex Roldan the referee is gonna pull it back. Alex Roldon pleading his case. I think for him it was fair. He was running back but hitting the face of a yellow card. He's a cheap yellow card referee. I thought he was gonna have a conversation Steve, but actually put that yellow card. It seems pretty harsh. You know, if a team's trying to take a quick free kick and you sort of

block it. I understand that Alex Rodown was not doing that. San Josey saw him close by, decided to knock the board off of him and Alish Rolldown was not trying to stop my quick free kick. And that's a very cheap yellow card that yet he now has to play with for the next seventy plus minutes. Well, he's also his fifth yellow card, which puts him out for the next game. And if my math is right, and Keeley will confirmed with me in the booth, but that is five yellow cars.

That's an immediate one game suspension, which means he will likely miss the Portland game if those things are correct. As Roker picks the ball up far side the left, comes across to Jackson, the orders near side the right to Marie in front of the Sounders bench because they come into Sounders territory, maintaining a love as eshels and sound has dropped into a defensive block in there.

Half of the field goes into a Bobosa out to Marie. Got some time and Space comes inside Espino's on the right hand side, challenged by new goes far to the back posts. Alex World clears the ball and and Keeley confirms, yes, he's gonna miss that game against Poland. And I think, see if those yellow cards, I mean, if one thing, if we tackle, yeah, yeah, that is a huge pot role in such a

massive game for a players just got a system. If you can't miss the reliab when a not a voice for the Sounder, So he'll be missed. But you can't think up too much at this morning. Long thrown from San Jose. It's fast side the left, picked up by a bear after a clearance, goes back to Alex Rol Darn plays the ball into Rusnack, a good patient build up, building out a pressure from the back. Riaga finds New this near side the left, rolls it into Ladera and we've seen that

one before. Ladero gets bundled over free kick Sounders and we see New come in and out of the lineup. It's gonna take some time from the builders, yeah, ildamina and fitness to get out that. It was absolutely rail. It takes some time. And you know and knew who before the illness he had was paying at such a high level. He was saying on the best left back in the league going back two or three years now. So it takes time. It takes time. He's egot to get back out there.

Richard nisleb He's won't be patient, and it must be said the fact he's not been missed too much speeds of volumes for the job Coldie Baker's done. It really does. Sounders all left hand side, right in front of the San Jose bench. It's near side the left with new who Bacher Rosnack in support ten yards away, finds Ladero short sharp passes by the Soundings as they enjoy sixty five percent possession so far in his first twenty minutes of the

game. As the ball gets to the shifted to the right to roll down thirty yards from the end line in the right channel, the combination with Ladero good whipped in a cross find us Adele two got in front of Marian about eight yards out center of the goal, puts it over goal kick Santose remains nil nil. Really good football, really good sound is playing from left to right, switching the board so quickly. The Santos A Earthquakes could not match

what the Sounds were doing. Then it's a great board by Alex Rodan just evades a but Leo Chow doing what you're taught. Opposite side, winger has to come inside, gets really good contact with the ball there just got underneath a little too much and he couldn't keep it down, goes over across bar. But very good football once again from the Sounders. Well this copyrighting audiocasts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the

express written consent of Major League Soccer. Sounders possession on the right hand side. Well down, Clapsaki Kanovitch. You scored the goal against Dallas, heartbreaking tying. One of the results we talked about the eight points lost in the ninetieth plus minute. They can sne it in the ninety third to Dallas to make it a one one tie this past weekend. So Santas, you have

to dust themselves up as they are two cles. A long ball, well, good first touch, but good defending by Marie the right back for San Jose Is Ariaga comes in tight Espinoza ball gets launched in the middle. He put Bobo say headed clear by Jacksonaga did not just enough to flip the ball away. Alex Holdn cleans it up. Little cupball to Rosnet to Oriaga. The Sounders again build out the back, long nut meg by new One Espinosa.

He's gonna love that one. And then of course he knocks it out the bounds and stay there summer, you promise, and then he knocks it out of back. Just really really wanted new to compete the play there. He'll still be a highlight reel, you know, It's not every day you see the left back of not making the winger. They're great play by new who, but yes, would have been nice to also complete the ten yard pass that followed Sounders in possession left hand side ball gets this sign with Ladero

goes out of bounds. A little sloppy from the Sounders in the last minute or so sloppy there because you had an opportunity Nicoladero to just finally or two and he was in. You got in behind the defense and that pass from Nico very uncharacteristic of him to miss such a simple pass. But we saw moments ago sounds the only attack. I think Sandose now are being outplayed football in wise passing by the Sounders, but they possess such a threat on the

counter with a ball. We see Espinoza guys who'd like to get out and run, and so you gotta be away for the Sounders. Sounds like even two or three back attacking with the rest. Just be aware that when you're in possession and attacking, it takes one long ball and Sandos there off to the racist ball on the left hand side twenty yards in the end line. Flick down to look there errors in the left channel as it comes away and

Roderia says he wins the ball. No free kick given. Sounders thrown ball comes in quickly from Ladera to Rusnack switched the point of attack from left all the way to the right to a good ball right corner of the box with Alex Roldard collected. Well, no real pressure from Choko was able to pick up the ball. Nothing forward goes back. Sounders maintain possession. Well darn

this time goes out of bounds again. A couple of sloppy passes and for the Sounders's slopping, it's so funny how many times you see that one bad pass needs to two three vote contagious in some ways, and for the Sounders after no sadose, probably would a better team. In a very early minutes, they've taken control of the game. Nicoladero found the game. Russneck's doing a great job. That's spraying these forty fifty yard boards left to right.

He's doing a really, really good job. But just clean up some of the passing games. Sloppy passes out of bounds, that's not typical for the seat of Sounders team, and that will be bothering branch message a little bit. Moltera picks up the bull from actual done and we're gonna throw down to

Michelle in the sidelines. Yes, what we've been seeing, obviously from the Sounders is a lot about what head coach Brian Schmittzer had to say about his team's offense before tonight's match, and how kind of two things that seemed different can happen at the same time and coexist. And that of course, is that his team is coming up with a lot of great opportunities and chances,

but that they also need to score and that is the time now. Brian Schmittzer says he's been pressing those comments with both of them and he's really thinking that the team is going to catch fire soon. And he said he thought perhaps some a bear goal to night. Well, Michelle, we hope. So it's been a's been a good while since a bag on the score sheet. Two goals in the first two games. Of course, it's RSL and

Colorado. As you mentioned, to Sounders number one in MLS for total passes, over eight thousand passes now in the MLS season so far put some at number one, but as you mentioned, only three point nine shots on target. With all that possession, something that sounds need to pick up. As sounds right corners ball top of the box. Troko slashes the ball from out twenty yards blocked by Tevers. It's gonna be Montera picks it up the fast side of the left for San Jose, that's a great So that's a Montera

again has been lively shifting from left to right. Jackson Order's four three three formation of Luci Gonzalez has put in gone has the man for man defensive system of al Naida Luchie. Gonzale is hired back in September. The ball goes along to a Bobose, the person we just talked about plex the ball really well. Eventually comes off. The Bobos goes out before a Sounders goal kicker remains nil nielskick. But that's the danger. That's the danger there. San

Jose have figured out that. Look, Sounders are gonna outpossess us. That's fine. We'll have our moments, but when we can get out in transition of Bobosi wants to run and in that moment he got in behind that yoga a little bit too easily. Jackson Reagan doing a great job coming across uncovering. But that is where I sense the danger lies. For the sound is

it's threatening behind Espinoza a barbacy. They love to run and with players that Montero, you can find them even a center backs playing long distance board. Gotta be aware of that one in position well at Bobesy. Even with the difficult season San Jose had last year so at seventeen goals on the year, five goals on the year so far in twenty twenty three, and a shift from an outside player to a number nine has really giving them a new lease

of life in San Jose. As seven five clears it up in the air, there's Ladero just wor great all over the field goes down winter tackle against Jackson U and extremely weak free kick given by referee. Ladero is just wondering what exactly that was for. I think we're all wondering that seat. I mean, I have no word for that lick. Nikoladero. You were just saying, they're working really hard. Bows In makes a simple tackle. I

don't think even one San Jose player or coach claim the free kick. Yeah, the referee saw something none of us saw, but it does give San Jose a set piece on this right hand side. They're right hand side, and a chance to put the board into a very dangerous area. But yes, an extremely extremely cheap free kick, and Ikorodera has every right to be upset well. Treyko's gonna put the ball down on the deck. It's just

about thirty yards from the end line, white channel. It's gonna be his left foot gonna be in swinging free kick here right in front of the Sounders bench. Sounders holding a line top of the eighteen yard box. Run us from Santose already going in. Ball comes in, whipped in well headed on goal like Kikinovich goes over the end line's goalkick. Sounders remains nil nil in the twenty ninth minute here e QC pitch gloubin Field ninety three point three KGr

Sounders coming into this match day sixteen in first position after their win against New York of the weekend. As San Jose now building up sound As a little bit of pressure, but it's Espinosa is able to

switch it from the center to the far left. Troko left back for San Say, picks it up to Montera to a Bobsie plays the ball back. Sounders, holding their press inside their half of the field, goes into Montera wriggles free no real pressure. The ball goes back to Beeson Mensa jumper. Mensas missing from the team that got started in the first fourteen games, came in from crew in the off season to late pick up by Chris Leach and

the front office. Rodriguez and Beeson playing in the middle. The Sounders quick pressure on San Jose as they shift the ball from center to right. Marie right in front the Sounders bench. Good combination that passes for San Jose right now. As they maintain possession, We'll loose on the pass, but Roso is able to clean it up. Goes to the fast sight the left for San Jose. Ball into the feet of it. Bobsea flicked away by roll

Dance. Sounders come away with it with Grosneck two touch pass plays quickly. Tilladero tries to find Leo Tula left inside. He does. We've seen this on Saturday as the ball against whipped in across the face of the six yard box. The TeVeS as she Attensio is able to pick it up on the fast sight the right, ten yards from the end line comes back to Alex

Roldan. The Sounders are gonna come again, sore looking for this opening goal this Wednesday night matchup again, perfect weather of a soccer tensio middle of the field now to new tucked in from that left back spot, san Jose putting in blocks of a four and a three. Defending well and San Jose given up nineteen goals on the year. Last year they gave up sixty nine goals on the year, so certainly a massive improvement last year over two goals per

game this year just over one point three five goals per game. So much improved defensively, and that's certainly showcasing itself in their position in the league as a sound as fastide the right pick it up center to Rusne turns away from pressure, sant Jose happy to let the Sounders plait the board the defensive third

attack and third of the field. It's a bad toe struck collected easily by Daniel, but good quick turn Steve Sean goals save by goalkeeper and that's I think that's the Sounders first shot on goald Is taking or of thirty two minutes here. Now just what he bared there. He's first thought was how can I combine a No, you're a forward outside the eighteen yard box. We want to see more of them, make a time get something off on Gold

in the end list was an extremely comfortable save. Was in a most dangerous shot. But it's what a Sounders need to do more testa goalkeep up and start taking more shots, even from distance ball the right hand side with Tevers right corner of the box gets pressured by San Jose players going to roll out of bounds the fat side the right twelve yards from the end line for a Sounders throwing with Tevers quickly and too roll down comes inside to a Rusnack is

able to play him. The half turn goes back to roll down Tevers holding the position on the right hand side finds Eventually Tevers from a Tensio close down by Groutzo, but to roll down square to Rusnack pressure from Montera, but he's able to wriggle free top of the box twenty yards plays A little combination got out by San Jose could play by the sounders as Tevers comes away with it again seem a bit of a cheap foul, soft free kick from the

referee Steve Yeah, and I don't see the foul again here again TEMs yah. He thinks he's there. Got Montero seemed to be losing his balance from going down anyway and he's built up by the referee. Bock does a more day with Albert Russ and a just a moment of magic and what it needed was a good return pass from Alex Rodan and he would have been in. He didn't quite get it well. I'd like to see is when the sound

has lost the board. There was three or four guys stepping right away to press and not allowing sam Asie to get out, and that's been lacking a tiny bit in his first half. That was much better defensive pressure from the Sounds. Upon losing possession, sound as a little higher press now as Rodriguez top of the box. They play it from right to left back to the

goalkeeper, pressed by Ladero. Now inside the box as Sound as they try to build out the back turn away from pressure from Ladero finds Marie right hand side finds. Eventually Montera flick to a Bobci Kickenov. It's going in behind, but sound As hold the line. But I Bobs is able to take some space, drives forward to Espinoza that's near side the right top of the box twenty five yards, flicks it with his left foot to the far side.

The Troco layoff by a Bobercy, but it's Ladera right spot right time. Pressure from your free kick. Sounders remains nil nil sticks. I want to gad that's really good from Nicoladero. It was also good from the San Jose Earthquakes. Their final little action was lacking, and that's been a story for both teams. Decent approach play, arriving in a final third and just when you need that moment of real quantity. It's been lacking on both sides

at the moment. But Nicoladeri does that so well. Gets his body front, the man absorbs the pressure, knows it's come in, wins a foul, just relieves the pressure from his team, a chance to put the ball down, get everyone up and then get the ball into the opponents off Saunders Rusnight middle of field flexes to the right hand side, ball dance got some space on the far side of the right hips it into the bad saved by Daniel. Great ball by Alex roll Down, right hand side, top of

the six yard bucks it. Bear had eight chance to put it on gold. He did, but it was a saved by Daniel. The follow up free kick for San Jose remains nil Nilbert chance Steve for a bear, alright, it's a big chance. It's such a good boat from Alex roll Down and I watched the Bear's movement. My fast of was could it be off side here? I'm seeing a replay delay delay as the board comes in. That may just be on the touch off side if that went to VR.

But you bet that he didn't order did his job really well, and that's a good save by the goalkeeper. Must be said. It's a good save by Daniel. Signed in January of twenty twenty three. There's a point blank say good connection by it there straight at the goalkeeper made the save and she mentioned it best. That's about to find that goal after scoring two in the first two games. As Montera comes away that it sounds territory Espinosa. That's

near side the right back to Montera. Want to your well read by Attenia comes away with that Montera Ladera chopped away by your finds herself to News able to build out get away from pressure from it Espinoza it's Jackson. Rega on the right hand side finds himself all the way out to the fast side the

right with Alex Roldan again as he tries to knot the ball forward. Ricochets stays in bounds, flicked by Tevez, tackled by Roco on the left hand side, finds herself to Kikinovich. Pocket picked by Alex Roldan keeps it in bound. Sounders maintain possession fartside the right, comes into the middle to Ariaga, good pass and to rusneck one touched back to new who knew driving forward got some space. Sounders happy to let the sounders pick up possession, but

he finds herself to Leo. Chu whips the ball in along the six cleared well by Rodriguez, but finds herself to New who on the clearance thirty yards from the end line left channel eleven men behind the ball for sound Josey defending their defensive third of the field well as the ball goes all the way back to step on Fried, decked out and all yellow as the Sounders and their

traditional rave green shirts try to find the breakthrough. Here, ball goes along from center to left to Leo chu Can collected it can and eventually just trickles out of bounce throwing for San Jose seams a chronic and I think both teams and both cultures will be relatively happy with their play in the first two thirds. Isn't that final third where you need that cross to be precise, You need that little bit of quantity to unlock the defense. It's not quite been

there. I get a sense this game just needs a goal to really open it up. It's waiting for that moment where the goal goes in and then both teams say, okay, let's go. It's sort of a nice ying and yangle boxing match back and forth, sounds dominant for a bit and Sandals on top for a bit, but really lacking just pure quality in the final third. That's what's been missing in this first off. Well, you feel that the crowd need it as well. You've heard that noise a few times.

But on a Wednesday evening here in the downtown cl QC pitch lubin Field remains sound as nail Earthquakes Nilo in the thirty eighth minute ninety three point three KGr FM. Good game so far between these two teams. As we've mentioned, no real real too much pressure on the either goalkeeper, but it's been

intriguing. Chess match of sorts. As San Jose hab it now with Marie in front of the San Jose bench, the ball goes long into the channel in behind our ark it's able to read it, clips the ball with his head, finds Jackson Reagan good one touch pass, splits the line to Atensio, gets clipped by Espinosa. Free kick sounders and the sounder is gonna get going quickly here all from the Atensio to TeVeS out to Alex Hold on the

fast side the right in San Jose territory. Now as they try to find that opening goals, we get into last seven minutes of this first half. New skips by Espinosa, drives forward, finds Leo Chew combination with Lookdaro. It's Jackson Yule, no handball given Leo Chow Santose looking for the offside. Nothing given but Montero and looked arrow in a challenge and Axlanos are going to come away with that. Jackson Y'll finds it. Bobousie too much time and

space to term with it. As he finds. Kikinovic easily consented to left hand side, tracked by Alex Roldan Santos. They worked there themselves up the field and support Espinoza thirty arts from goal center the field, no support to the right. He comes back to jackson Yule the Groutzo the Troco. A couple of names missing from the team sheets today. Kate kl for you. Twenty national team in the World Cup scored again in the art last game.

Obed Vargas started two games in the World Cup so far, and it's and everything I've seen, Steve, both players have done really well, really well, and it's been fun to watch that under twenties team there and Kate call in particular, I mean he's taken that tournament by storm and he's a player.

Yes, Santos, they absolutely missed what he asked that team just in terms of his pace and that and I'm making a final third and the same can be said for obed Vargas. Yes, a very young player and a very big you know what, we Hope is a great successful career, but he's already proved. He's vanuage in the sound As team. He adds something in his midfield even in the absence of a pair like JP. So we wish him the best at the world. Can't but he's definitely missed. Over

here. San Jose in possession top of that box, back to Daniel the goalkeeper finds Jackson Yule build out the back with some confidence by san Jose, given away by Rodriguez, finds Rosnack. It's near side the left top of the box with Leo Chu tries to find Rosak again, clips off Jackson Yule runs so Daniel took his eye off the ball for a split second, almost ran out of bounce, but maintains possession with the ball at his feet to

get into the forty first minute. Here he quc pitch luban Field Sounders nil, Earthquakes nil. Sounds. Coming tonight's game first in the Western Conference.

Back on the winning winning scoreline this past weekend against New York, trying to find the second win in a row here, second game of a three game homestand but again coming up this Saturday against arch rival Poland, it's Leo Chio towards the end line, flick the back post of and it's Alex roll Down towards the end line cuts it back, saved by Daniel Played, eventually kicking over to basically a corner kick. Sound as Steve Zaquani and better again from

the Sound is the best player has come from wide areas. Alex roll Down in particulars put a couple of good balls. This time it came from the left. It found Alex rod Down just could not readdirected towards a green shirt. San Jose again doing just enough defensively. The sound is knocking on the

door to try to take the lead before halftime. Refregers trying to organize some pushing and shoving in the box as the Sounders have a corner kick on the right hand side, outswinging corner kick with rusnack top of the six yard box, headed clear by beeson top of the box. Alex roll Down collected it. The refeege is a free kick for San Jose off the arm of Alex Rolder. Alex jokes Away sitting on a yellow card, as we mentioned,

suspended for the game that's coming Saturday against Poland. There was an accumulation of yellow cards. It's fifth yellow card tonight. As a sound as to find the opening goal here at blooming Field, Brian talks about the fortress that he wanted to build here well, six clean sheets and the game so far, the only blemishes being Sporting KC giving up two goals and Austin giving up two goals. A sound has put pressure on Troko farside, San Jose letter come

away with it. Rosneck griggles free plays Ladero but read well by Roderiguezez Espinosa. This near side, Dora finds a center back plays born to a Bobose top of the box, found by Jackson Reagan. Referee gives it. It's gonna be a yellow card on Jackson Reagan top of the box. Good quick, great by San Jose. It felt like if Bobocy was looking for the free kick. Steve eventually went down. Yeah he was, and we said

it. We said it all evening long. That's the threat. Samose again that they came here trying to play possession and understood we cannot out possess the Sounders. Now in transition, can we be very good? And they have been dangerous and that and that occasion, Espinosa leading a counterattack very well finds a Barbescy. We're just getting a replay here. I wasn't sure if he was offside, he's not. Takes a pretty good touch. It's the slice

of clicks from Jackson Reagan. I'm not sure there's too much contact there at all. A Barbesy's touch was a big one. I mean there's contact, it's very slight. I have the feeling if a Barbac's touch had set him up for a shot, he'd be on his feet trying to find it back on the net. As it is a free kick and a very very dangerous ara for Sandleson. Second yellow card for the Sounders on the game the sum

of Jackson Reagan and it was a bold card for the referee. But we've seen them couple of soft free kicks given by the referee, one of them being on Ladero. A sliding challenge won the ball easily, but it was a free kick given at this time much more dangerous position nineteen or twenty yards from gold very top center of the box as a Boboci Montero Espinosa lined up at Bobocy with his left foot. Montero and Espinosa with their right. Sounders

put their wall up. Nine men in the wall with TEMs slided to the left. Leo Choose the only one disconnected from that line. Espinosa sits on the left hand side, goes over and high. If Boboca won the free kick, took the ensuing free kick and knocks it high and wide gold kick,

Sounders remains nil nilk. Yeah, that's a big letter fire. But that's a really good position and it's a game that's sort of crying out for quality in the final fund if you get a free kick round the edge of the eighty yard but you want to at least be hitting the target and obviously puts that at least a yard over the cross bar. And it looks like the sounds that they got away with that one there, but the warning sound is there. How the three kick was one is when a dangers coming from

you lose the ball. If you're the Sounders, you have to either get back very quickly. If you're gonna high pressure, better win it, because if not, San Jose have willing runners who will get in behind and causing problems. Sounders have it with their bare on the right hand side, tries to flick the ball to the right side. Marie collects the ball, could let it go out of bounds and just what happened? He's made a mess up the amnue. He bears ball was not very good. That was going

behind for a goal kick. Marie wanted to control it and gives the sound as of throwing high up in the sound as they off I think this goald kick was looking what are you doing? Sounders plays the ball into the can they punish san Jose here with attention or could have gone down? It was a leg by acts and you'll says a referee calls the off side, but

honest, Stitensia could have gone down potentially. Yeah, with a little more experience, you're understanding that the defender swings's neglect there or you've got to do stay there, let him contact you and you'll get a free kick. Extra mile stop his time is gonna be one minute if you get towards that minute. Referee looking at his park already middle of the field. San Jose free

kicktop of their box and there's a referees whistle. Was a kg first half, not much in it, Steve your final thoughts, Yeah, it's been Okay, I don't think it's too much to over react with your branch mets. It's a gain us crying up from just a bit of quality in the final third. And I think the Sounders will feel good about being at this stage knowing they have the lacks of a rude Daz who may come into this game. It could be something like that. That's a difference today. So

decent half, but the Sounders can do much more. We'll take a short break, Jackson Felt and Chance Fry. We'll be back to break it all down at halftime here at QC Pitch at Looming Field. It's Sounders nil, Earthquakes nil. Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show, well forty five minutes in the books here at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield, you're Seattle Sounders and the visiting San Jose Earthquakes even at zero Jackson Felton, Chance Fry here for the halftime show and chances. We look at this half, you know, we were talking about it in the booth, just a couple of you know, a couple of steps over about how San Jose did start

off with the press. We wondered how they were going to come out. We saw San Jose pressing. Seattle eventually broke that eventually kind of took control the half, but ultimately no goals in the back of the nat What did you see through the fourth first forty five minutes? Yeah, the San Jose came out and started pressing us about our thirty five yard line or so, but just let us play in front of them. They weren't really pressing.

They were just sort of shifting and we were playing it back and forth, and as we talked about, we just needed to get them back into there in the field. We did that by a couple of long passes. Some of them were good, some of them weren't as good, but it's still it pushed them back into their half, and then we started playing for most of the half in their end of the field and that seemed to be a

little bit better. But we still when we got in there need to be a bit sharper in that final third, a bit more play the ball, a bit more quickly, right, get some more people in the box, and quality of our crosses, it needs to be a little bit better. And on that exact point, you know, we've seen a couple really good chances for Seattle. There was a build up in the forty first. There was another build up in the thirty fifth, perfect ball from Altroldon to a

Bear shot saved there by a diving Daniel to his right. What he is missing in these is it that cross? Is it a final ball? Because it feels like we once again we've said this before that Seattle is just one tiny little passer, one tiny little inch away from getting a ball in the back of the match. Yeah, I mean, we talked about it before the game. A Bear is making some very good runs, he's getting in

the box, he's getting chances. That's the great thing. Okay, now he just needs to put a couple away and his confidence will just boom from there. He's at two goals now. He could jump up to three, four or five seven goals real quickly. He just needs I think he would have probably been called offsides on that one if he would have scored, but he was there and it was a good save. I think he'll be disappointed he didn't put it away, though, with confidence, he will put that

away once he starts scoring. Absolutely that size may that's the missing piece, and hopefully we can get that confidence here in the second half. In terms of the second half, we'll get to those keys and the bench where there is a very confident waiting forward in the wings. We'll get to that in a moment. I'll quickly tell you Sounder fans that bud Light was brewed to be a delicious and easy to drink beer. Bud Light easy to drink,

At the second half, it's zero zero between the Sounders and earthquakes. Chance Frise Jackson felts here on your half time. Sure, let's take a look at the Sounders bench. It includes Freddie Montero, read Bigger Whiting, Kellen Rowe, Gamar Gomez On Trode, Stephen Cleveland, trading SUSA on a short term agreement up from Tacoma Defiance, Souda Kidahara, a

Bissoko, and number nine Rale Ruy Diaz is available. Chance. We talked about it in the prematch show and we just mentioned it off the air. This feels like a game that Rale could absolutely have an influence in. Yeah, absolutely role And I'm a big Montero fan. And even though he's getting up there in age, he can come in and score from anywhere and he's very sneaky. But it does feel like a game that Raoul could come in

and nick a goal for sure. Now, looking at the keys to the second half, right now, we talked about what didn't necessarily work in that in that first half. What are your keys to fixing those tiny little things and getting three points out of this match. The main thing is we need to be just sharper upfront as we're going forward, play a little bit quicker, get our get bodies in the box. We can't just have a bear running in by himself, and we've got to get good quality crosses in and

then maybe a little bit quicker. There was a one time I think it was Dylan Tabs on the right, got the ball, kind of played it back and he could have attacked the defender and really whipped in a hard cross maybe. But anyway, that's those are the things that we need to do to get a goal here. Now on the back end his team, you know, clean sheet against New York last Saturday. First five games here at home, we're all clean sheets. We'll forget about what happened against Kansas City

and against Austin. So to continue and keep another clean sheet would be big. But as you mentioned to me off the air a second ago, Jackson and Reagan Alts rolled on bold on yellow cards right now. Yeah, and

that's a dangerous situation. And as we were saying, if I was San Jose, I would take my strikers and go straight at one of those two guys right when I got the ball, because then they have a choice to make do they put their foot in or do they let him go buy And if they put their foot in and they miss, there's gonna be a second yellow for sure. Well, they don't want to see another draw Pollows.

The situation happened, so that is certainly something to watch well. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence Swedish, the official healthcare partner of Sounders FCAT. We'll just take one more break, We'll come back and Dan Jackson, Steve Zachawani and Michelle Ludka will have the car. Second half Sounders zero Earthquake zero second half starts next on sports radio at ninety three point three KJRFM. As the players get ready to kick off the second half, stretching in the rave

green shirts blue shorts. Rave Green Sucks is what the Sounders are wearing tonight. Sunders are not out the tunnel yet. But as we get prepared for the second half, seed what Brian Schmitz have been telling his team in the locker room to getting ready for the second half. Yeah, I think branch Muster want to say, look, guys, it's been mostly okay, not two thirds of the pitch. We've done well, We've defended reasonably well,

We've built up through your lines quite okay. In that final third. The amount of times l Choo's got in the amount of times Alex Rodan has got into crossing coming in the finish just hasn't been there. And that's just a lack of quality. We saw a little period in the first half where the Sounders were very uncharacteristically missing simple passes out of play out of bounds with ten fifteen yard passes. So clean up some of those details and then just be

more precise, more deliberate in the final foot extra concentration. That's where the magic happens, where you have to be prepared in those moments to take an opportunity. You may only get a few, and so I think it just said more, give me a little bit more, five percent more, ten percent more. Everyone does that and we'll be okay, We'll see what changes Brian makes you on the second half from the bench, but no changes for

Brian in personnel. We'll see about formation, but we don't expect changes Stefan Frian Gold, roll down, Oriaga, Reagan and knew who A ten SiO alongside Rosnack in the middle of the field, Leo Chu Ladero and Tevez and then it bear up front. There is an expectation that we'll see ruy ds get on the field towards the end of the game, as long as the

game goes in the right direction for the Sounders. As San Jose eventually come out of the tunnel, I'll sure if it was a little extra rest he needed or they just lost track of time, but referee is gonna get us going here. He's holding the ball as we know sometimes these delays a Kirkers of TV. So let's give you that San Jose lineup as well, Daniel link Goal, Marie Rodriguez, Bisa and Troco, Yule, Grezzo and Montero and then Espinoza, Ibobic and Kikinovic up front and San Jose and their navy

blue tops, their black shorts and their black socks. As you mentioned, the Sounders attacking the goal to our right. For the second half, the South end in their rave green kit, blue shorts and green socks, so Steve Ibobes was lively at times. San Jose outshot the Sounders six shots to five in the first half. Sounders dominated possession as they have done most of the years, with fifty eight percent. As a Sounders get us going as a ball rolls all the way back to Stephan Frey, decked out and all

yellow outside his box, takes a touch. Back Line shifts up, the ball goes long, he can overtwins it with no real pressure. Attenia pulls it off his chest, goes to roll Darn who's on a yellow card in the game, which, as we mentioned the first off is its fifth yellow card on the season, which is a suspension for the next game, which for the Sounders is Portland that's coming Saturday. So very unfortunate miss for the

Sounders. As Oriaga, top of the eight and yard box, launches it along from center to left, Sounds pick it up, Leo Tugar lover space, cuts it inside to Ladero. Jackson New York picks the pocket of Ladero and Marie knocks it down the line. The fast sight the San Jose right, it is an Abobacy and Oriaga and it's a little bit of a rough and tumble by Oriaga, rolls straight into Abobesy. It's gonna be a free kick for Jose early early in this in the second half on their right hand

side, eighteen yards from the end line. It's gonna be Espinosa because we mentioned Espinosa solid season so far, eight goals, three assists. As he steps over this ball, it's not twenty yards from the corner flag, just about a yard or two from inside from the sideline as Leo two is a one man wall ten yards away, sounds defending about eight yards from gold big

men up for San Jose and Beason and Rodriguez. Ball comes in flicks across Jackson, Yale slices it finds up all the way to Espinosa again as Leo Chio wins the ball, but somehow San Jose get it and it's top of the box with Montera back to Espinosa right corner, drives it in corner, kicks sounders and it's a good start to the second half favor for Sanose. About two minutes in and they've kept the ball in the sound as half the

entire time. It really began with that fouled from Mariaga and a Bobaci and the sounds won't be careful about getting to a foot race for Bobacy. The few or four times it's happened. Good things have come for Sandose. And here's another one now with a corner kick. Corner kick the Santose right hand side to the Espinosa leads mlescent corner kicks to be an outswinger. Santose right hand side, right foot of Espinosa. Ball comes in top of the sixth

headed on goal and it's an early goal for a Bobacy. Strong start for San Jose. In the second half, corner kick came in. It was flicked at the front post and if Bobasi snuck in to that back post, a Knox the ball in for a sixth goal of the year. It's Sounders nil Earthquakes one. And we said sound Earthquakes began the second half really well playing pressure. We are just getting looked at the replay. Here a bed goes down. I'm not sure there's a foul in dead you see a replay

hit. No, there's no foul there, Sunda said, just seemed to be hungry at first at the board. When a knockdown happens, Abarbasi is in front of Stephan Fry, no one within five yards of him, and it's a simplest of finishes and the Sound is now have to respond from behind. Well, Michelle, it's not the score line the Sound has wanted coming out of the second half. And are you spoke to Brian Schemetz will throw

it down to you. I did. He shared with me his thoughts on the first half, as well as what he shared with his team in the locker room, and now given the new change in score line, only some of it really applies. He told them offensively, they're being way too predictable. He wants them to change it up and become unpredictable. And the fat means an extra dribble going in a different direction. They just need to change things up. He's worried that opponents are starting to figure them out and know

what's coming. As for the defensive side, he said he told the team, don't fall asleep, don't become complacent. And obviously we saw what just happened moments ago. I would imagine Spencer would have stronger words now if he was meeting with the team, but that's what he says he shared with them at the half thanks Michelle Chroco with a free kick, knocks it into the box again, finds uf all the way back to the back post with Espinosa end line clips it out, collected by Stephen Fry, but again as a

chance by San Jose as Sounders now in transition. Ladero carries the ball across the halfway line the fast side the left, finds the ball into the channel, cut out well by Groats, but the Sounders get a ball in quickly. Sound As Nil Earthquakes. One early goal in this second half by a Bobasi on the back post after the corner kick from Espinoza flicks on the front post. He knew who lost his mark and it was at Bobasi was able to knock it in for a sixth goal of the year as a sound As

now come from behind. The record from behind is not looking great one and four in the season. It's New who gives it away cheaply the Troco out to Kickingovich right in front of Sounders bench. Pressure from the Sounders have to come away with it. They do New one touch to Rusneck for the right hand side to Tevers, brings it down his thigh goes towards the end life foul by Treco the left back for San Jose free kick. Sounder steeds that

chronic and this is good for the sounders. As you get these opportunities set pieces, when your go down, they become massively important sort of quantity of service. And Nicolodero is gonna be key. You just sold San Jose take advantage of one of the dead set pieces. If your runs are good the designs, then the board's dead. You always give usself half a chance.

So it begins with Nicolo delivery, the sound of sending everyone forward a chance to respond right away, twelve yards from the end line, right channel this near side the right, it's gonna be Nicolodero with his left foot. It's gonna swing this one in. As San Jose hold their line just outside the

sea yard box, all the big boys up for the Sounders. Oriaga Reagan ball comes in right on top of danieally clears it well down top of the box to Russneck back to roll down twenty five yards from the end line, clips it to the back post, finds itself to Atensio drives it in and

vades Ariaga. But it said Tavers is gonna pick it up this near side, the right towards the end line drops its Alex roll down, goes past Kika Noovich wrote, so in support nothing forward goes back to knew who the middle of the field, thirty five yards from Gold clips the ball into the back post to a Tensio cushion headed by two play a foul given by the referee and we're looking down the assistant referee. No flag up. Yeah,

it's really hard to see what the foul was. Initially four kme maybe there's enough side. There's absolutely no flags, so it's fard to see waven happened there. But Sasy get a free kick, a chance to relieve some pressure.

These next ten minutes will come usually usually important for the Sounders, and I would not be surprised if in this next ten minutes or so we see an introduction on Rudas because with one eye when the team come into town this weekend, you don't want to go into that game with a bad home loss. You want to be in good rhythm. Make it two wins out to four points at a minimum. So branch. Mester's mind is where you're go

into. How can they get this back? And there's very few better options in auto Major league Sucker than raw Ruy Diaz would be to gol Or. Rue Diaz missed a lot of the seasons so far through injury, but still two goals on the year. Second leader as the ball goes to the right hand side is near side the right Jackson Reagan. How to Alex Roldan comes back to Jackson Reagan as the Sounders looking to find that equalizing goal as they trail here at Loubin Field. One goal to nail against San Jose. All

goes from center to left Chew with Paul Marie. Marie stands him up well. Leo Chu clecks the ball though comes inside, plays the ball Rosna top of the box, got some space top of the box, left foot driven

blocked. San Jose come away with it. Riaga headed into TeVeS. TeVeS finds the ball to Alex Roldan. Sound is now playing from behind as we mentioned one and four after conceding first or only wins Sporting Kansas City because Alex Roland comes inside off the right touch line to the middle to Rosne difficult ball to control. San Jose picks the pocket of Rosne as Montero tries to clip

the ball all the way across Espinos on the fast side. The right comes back to Stephen Fry one touch pass into Reagan right in front of the San Jose bench, goes to potential switch the point of play from center to fartside. The left ladera hanging out on the left hand side, collects the ball into a bare good one to to Leo Chiu and left channel towards the end line likes the ball, challenged by Marie goes down. Nothing given by the

referee. We've seen them given by the referee on the sounders, and that's the issue. I have no issue with that not being quite a found when you spend the entire even calling it, especially the other way, and it happens, there just be consistent and sort of fans obviously voice and dead displeasure. Yes, the Leolchi got down a little bit easy, no problem, but it's happened multiple times and each time there's been a whistle except on that

occasion. Well. Sound As FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC sound As give the ball away. Sala's well gone right in front of the Sounders bench, but as quick as you like, well done. Gives the ball away. San Jose come away with it. Jackson Yule middle of the field, out to the right hand side to Espinoza. Pressure from Knew who back to Marie. Back to Espinoza, san Jose

looking comfortable in possession. Sounds still dominated sixty but san Jose got the most important statistic and that's the goal. The opening goal by Bobaci the fourteenth minute. This troker comes off his left back position, comes inside to Montera. Good quick combination to Bobesi, falls to the ground. Sound has come away with it. Attenio into the center. Ladero now plays go back to Attensio right channel towards the top of the box. Sloppy ball again to a bear

slayed by san Jose. Let's gonna roll out of bounds in front the Sounders bench. The more tempo now for the Sounders as they got to find this equalizing goal. Rusnac to Attensio to roll down right's channel. Tevez inside the box, back to Rusnac twenty five yards from goal, goes left to Leo Chu top left corner of the box. Support by Ladero comes in quite fun. It's a good saved by Daniel. It was Leo Choon saved by the

goalkeeper for San Jose. But the sound has come away with it with Alex rolled on goods sustained pressure by the men in rave Green to Tever's right side. Blot by Roco Sounders throwing I guess a good response by the Sau Sounders dog going down the gold early the second half. The game now settling into the pattern ixpectancy until the sound as if and when they find the gold.

The entire game in the San Jose half, lots of crosses into the box, Russnacladero detained play, but so far just haven't been able to really generate really really good clear cut Goldsbury chounces on the right hand side. We've rolled on slipped inside to run a little timer space top of the box, left foot driven in blot by Decon. Montero comes away with it for San Jose, challenged by a bare free kick Sounders Jackson. Your stays down. I

will see a little movement on the bench. It's like Rowlry Diaz as Steve zac Quanny had mentioned Row ready to come out to s was out those greed Baker Whiting, He's gonna shift to the right back spot, Alex roldn gonna shift up to white midfield if bad comes off and on comes ruy Ds and

with that we're gonna throw it down to Michelle. Yes, with these three match weaks, you can understand that it's all about maintaining amount of minutes, getting healthy legs, and rotating players as you gear up for obviously the stretch of matches in such a short amount of time. That was what the move here with these two players coming in is. But head coach Brian Schmitzer also tells me that with Raoul ruy Diaz, he has been cleared. He has

been cleared Danny for thirty minutes of play. As he goes back out to full strength, well on the right hand side, Alex Roldon which it across high and Y Gold kick San Jose, but again good build up by the sound as his final execution not that okay, yeah, but it changes the dynamic you swow. When his name was announced, his number went up and up, fourth officials board, the energy, the crowd, the understandable Raoul is and he's a play He's not gonna come in here and get on the

board and start playmaking and make things happen. He'll be on the end of thing. So it's a great move also by Brian Schmizza moving Alex rod Done upper line because you need his offensive ability. He's crossing well. Alex rod Dan can do in the wide areas not many on the team can give you. And with a fox in the box that Rubiy Diaz, there's no one better to get on the end of all those crosses. So Leo Chu than Alex Roddan become hugely important to what Brian Schemetz and his team want to do

in those wide areas. And as we've mentioned, once you get good quantity boards into the box, there's no one you'd rather have than the number nine Ruby Diaz, who's just come in Fox in the box. I'm gonna put that one down as seas I come away with it with Rodriguez out to the right hand side to your But you, who reads it well, plays it down the line to Leo Chu. Can he say it? He does?

It goes past Marie very well. Good feet by Leo Chu r it towards the end line options available Rude the top of the box striped by the darrow high and wide. Is that's game for a clip. Referee gives nothing gold kick San Jose Okay, he's as he changed his mind, though he hasn't. It looks like the assistant referee standing on the corner flag. That's a deflection as clear as they branch Metter's face has been used. I mean,

there's been some baffling decisions here today. It was great played by Orcho. Let's not forget that tries to find Rude Diaz. It deflects an a Daro and it we'll see no uplay here. I mean it's like God and the citizen called from corner. Yeah, with the referees five yards from the Daro's

shot that is right in line, very poorously. I wonder what they look at sometimes balling right inside sounds with Alex Waldan Baker Whites tries to find the ball inside with it one touch, but the sound come away with it. Montero at tackled well by well done. They'll be a little careful, but timed it well. It's on a yellow card as the sound has come away with it. Now sustained pressure they are ture around Marie easily Bess Spinoza users

experience and a corner kick. He was trying to do a Ladero feather nudge in the back. Nothing given by the referee. Corner kick for the Sounders on the fast side the left. It's gonna be an ouncering in corner with Ladero. Big men up for the Sounders. The board gets swung in top corner of the six yard bucks, flicked up in the air, ball bounces Inaros Atensio and it was a chance for Atensio in the six yard bucks, but it's gonna go high of Daniel's gold gold kick for San Jose. But

a chance, Steve. Oh, it's a big, big chance. And it came from just some hesitation in a San Jose box because Santose should be favorite to this board and it just stays in the air for a long time. An Attenio took advantage of that hesitation, but got way too much underneath the board and listening from four or five yards out, you gotta be hitting

the target there. Disappointing for Atensio. Well. This copyrighting audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express and consent of Major League Soccer. As the ball comes out to the right hand side, this near side the right with Baker Whiting back to Reagan to Oriaga as the sound has built out. The back plays it well to Leo two, collects it off his chest really well, down to Ladero one two,

Leo two chasing the ball down. It's Rodriguez trying to clip it off and he runs it out a bounce and I can see it from here. The referee is sixteen yards away from the goal where six hundred yards it feels like sometimes eventually gives a corner kick. Good play by Ladero and Leo Shu. Ball comes in Ladero cleared by Marie. This news a collected thirty five yards from the end line, goes back to read Baker Whiting Rosneck can support

Jackson, Reagan and support nothing available for readers. He continues forward, got some time, well played by the young man, maintains possession back to Jackson. Reagan gets it again right twenty five yards from the end line. It was four of the ball, no real pressure from San Jose top of the box, Potensio to read the ass wonderful shot great save. Well, that's

all we missed for Raoul. It was a good combination. Eventually Attensio knocked it up in the air and Raoul from the angle, wonderful strike of the ball. Good saved by the goalkeeper. Yeah, but give a lot of credit to a read baker waiting a lot of credit day he held onto the ball. It seemed like too long, but he knew what he was doing. Took some really really good touches and when I came to read the ash, that's why he's in there. The level of quality in that technique to

hit that as well as he did. Goalkeeper match him on this occasion, ball top of the box. Attensio twenty five yards and left side flicks the ball up to Leo Chew and he was a flick of his right foot. This time he gets cut out by san Jose and try to find the ball square our Yaga moving forward twenty five yards from gold read well by Roderigue has been given away again by San Jose, Sounders left hand side, Leo too fast side. The left comes across the box, the flight takes Sounders quarter.

Acake remains. The remains Sounders nil. Earthquakes one oh It's been a great response, you know, doing everything right now, but putting the board in the back of the net. The South Sounders order possession and audio attacks. Santose cannot get out of their own half. We just have to find a way to convert one of these russneck. So Ladero comes in top, top of six yard bucks, ahead of by Jackson, Reagan easily collected by Daniel and it's a clash. Referees asking for head injury. I didn't see

much there. I don't think inter who was asking. But Sa Bobasi stays down, slowly gets to his feet. Training staff of San Jose come on the field, but steve the change in mood both in the crowd and in the stands and on the field when Rell comes on, epitomized by the shot he just had good, good say by the gold there's an expectation that even a half chance becomes a very good chance because it's round Ruby Dz and listen.

He may not be as sharp and as fit and as inform as he'd want to be at this stage in a season, but it doesn't really matter with rue Ds because he's so good inside the box that you give him any sort of half chance and you have a chance to make things happen, which is why Brian sch Meser made the move, especially to move Alex rod Don pump one line to play on the right hand side, because he wants crosses in the box. San Jose are gonna sit deep, They're gonna clog up

the middle. It's basically why enter Leo True, Alex Rodan. They become important and again put good balls into the box, fine round even half a chance, he's a great chance for a play up that quality. And Steve his great baker hitching sitting on the right backspot is in preparation for Saturday as well. Yes, he needs to get minutes too, because branch Metser knows there's no Alex Rodane. He would have spoke about that at half time.

We're gonna look at every other option, you know. We're hoping that Alex's brother Christian will be back. We don't know, we'll see so he'll have some players coming back. But absolutely read bicker White's in contention to take that spot. Ball goes along by San Jose. The sound has come away that the second ball middle of the field comes from to the fast side. That

left with Leo tubing active in this second half? Is he griggles free of Marie is having torry time goes down, referee puts out his yellow card and it was just a matter of time. Leo Chu's had his number this second half. Wriggle free many times and the only thing that the right back can do is drag him down. Yellow card for Marie. Yeah, bring it from Leo Chuda a couple of nutmag's change of pace and what that does now is it changes the way Marika defend Leo Tu. You can't be as aggressive

as that. And for Leo Chu as a winger, the mentality Nupy's going at him every time commit commit Leo Tu to Ladera clared by Rodriguez, Gonna be another Sounders corner kick remains sound as nil earthquakes one, but the Sounders have the bit between their teeth. It's gonna be Ladera on the left hand

side out swinger. The big men are up. I'ms in middle of the goal, attacked by Alex roll Dan cleared by San Jose Knew who clects it, plays it back to Ladera single that left channel goes down the line to Leo Chu defended well by San Jose. As they play the ball short, they who all over Montera free kicks San Jose just what they need, give themselves a little bit of a rest by it and a breather. Yeah.

I mean, we haven't even thought about stuff at fry for the last fifteen seventeen minutes or so because it's been all one way traffic down towards the San Jose gold. Sounders haven't really tested to keep them much as had a rail ru dis chance, but doesn't mean they haven't been chances. We're thinking of the dross potential chance that really should have been a gold. You get a

sense that it's coming. San Jose so far standing very very strong, and they need to age their line up and start playing the game a bit more than sound us off because you can't defend that deep for this long and not conceived. Ball bounces misjudged by Jackson Reagan. San Jose come away that it was rudso tries to flip the ball to the left, frond side goes up

in the air. They've collected the second all but the sound is now picked it up with Ruy Diaz looking sharp on the ball already in support of Alex Roldan right in front of the Sounders bench this near side the right back to Baker, Whiting to Reagan, inside to Rusnak. Because the sounds now we're

going to build again. As San Jose dropped back into two banks of four left hand side, ball gets whipped in, cleared by San Jose, Marie pocket picked by two, blocked by Rozzo, new to Ladero on the left hand side, back to Rusnack, comes inside low combination Leo two top of the box us to find Rusnack, eventually cut out by san Jose to come away with it. Pressure by Ariagas shrubbed off by your Bobs. As Montero supports Jackson Yule further forward and it goes left. It's Kickinovich It's near side

the left for san Jose. Back to Jackson Yule to BOBERSI pressured by Rusnak. San Jose come away that you're to Montera. Pressure by Baker, wides about to Troco. Sounds now chasing this game. San Jose of not one win. Listen the last fourteen away MLS games, so big result for San

Jose if it can maintain It's won they'll lead. So we get into the sixty ninth minute, the sound has come away with it with rusneck middle of the field to Jackson Reagan to roll Dan inside from its advanced right spot, now playing that right midfield attacking position to Rude the ass flicker the right foot all the way across to Leo two, left channel, the fast side, the left hipps Lyn's the collected by Daniel. But good build up again by

the sounder. Seems a quantic it is, and just watching that build up unplayed there unfold their ruth. Yes, coming a bit deeper. You don't often see that we did a great job. Just check it into sort of number ten position, plays a really good at board out wide to le Or two. And then what he did next is what makes the special. He took off into the box, made a good run. The cross never found him, but the sounds keep knocking at the door, lots of crosses coming

in. Got'll give credit to Sanose because so far the haven't yielded too many chances. But the sound is really a planned depression. This could be here Leach with La Darrow out to Ruy Dias right hand side, twenty five yards of the Gold towards the top of the work strikes it saved by Daniel Well. If Rory Diaz was lucky after the hammer string, he's certainly not showing it so far. Two good strikes on goal, two good saves. Yeah, he looks sharp. He look sharp, but this one's a bit more

from distance, difficult angle. Baard went away from Gold even sided a keep up. You give something to think about, but it was straight at the goal keeper and sold rail Ruy Diaz in the end. There not his best strike, but he does look sharp so far. Santose picked the pocket of Nuu with Espinoza saves it and as far side the right comes side, cheap giveaway by the experienced Espinoza. Rud's to roll down. Sounders come again.

Ladero given away cheaply from Ladero. This time it's not light Ladero, but san Jose come away that with Brozo in the middle to Jackson Yule trying to maintain some possession to take a breather as the sounders of coming waves in this second half, since conceding that early goal to a Bobersea, San Jose the fastside the right in possession Kikanovich, Jackson Yule mainstay in this team for San Jose twenty seventeen MLS draft picks. San Jose have it and then lose it

with Kikanovitch. It's Red Baker why to the right side, tries to find Alex Roaldarni does connect middle of the field senter circle is Alex roll Dan inside from that bright advanced midfield position to Ladero to roll down as Santose get eleven men behind the ball now to defend. Ball goes out to the left hand side to Leo Chu again from that left hand side, the fast side the left offended by Marie. We'll see if Luchi makes any changes as the ball

gets in deflects off San Jose corner kick Sounders remains Sounders nil. Earthquakes One, as we mentioned, is gonna be a couple of changes. Paul Marie's at a turret time over the last fifteen minutes on a yellow card. We'll see if one of those changes will be for him. It's to be Mooney and Tommy Thompson. It's gonna be the changes, and yes, it's gonna be Paul Marie is gonna make way, Tommy Thompson's gonna come in and play on that right back spot. Ki Kanovich comes off, Daniel Muniy is gonna

come on the field, so we set up for this corner kick. Slow walk off by Ki Kanovich. Paul Marie's gone off already behind the goal. Tommy Thompson now full sprint to defend this corner kick for the Sounders left hand side. But Darren out stringing corner kick. Big men are up top of the box, make their runs, goes to the top corner attack stripe by Altensio slices it wide of the goal. It was a chance for eighteen yards

goal kick. They've been chances. They've been chances. And if Daniel hasn't worked as much as we think he should, it's because the sound is finishing, has left a lot to be desired. That's a great chance for Autensio. Ball comes out edge of the box and just his technique lacking in the end there. But God give Sounders credit. It's been a great response and I'm playing a lot of pressure. It's had enough time to go hit and I'm Bryan Spenser now also went to a buch Well, Michelle a couple of

suns to the Sounders. We're gonna throw it down to you. Yes, it's great to see Kellen Row coming back into the mix. This is his first action since his knee sprain on April twenty ninth against RSL, and we have to remember he's coming in for new who right now at left back. Prior to coming to Seattle, he'd only play the majority of his career at midfield. But he knew that when coming to Seattle he was going to have to adapt if he wanted to get minutes off the bench, and he has

completely adapted. He has seen action at left back, right back, right, left center, and defensive mid and even once at left wing since joining Seattle. He said earlier this season that it's great that the team trusts him to step in at any time, and he's proving time and time again they trust him to step in at different positions as well. Well. Utility man certainly we've got a couple of those. Roll Dan has certainly played in another

positions. Hopefully we'll get Christian Beck for this weekend, and of course friend Brad Evans, the player that played in a number of positions so well for so many years for this club as Rowe. It's his first touch. Knoxy long cut out by San Jose knocked forward by Attentium. It's Muty he's going to play that right back spot, slide in for Paul Marie, and it's

Tommy Thomason that left midfield position. As the ball goes across the field given away by Monterey, his first touch foul red Baker Whiting a couple of TwixT the formation. Ladero's gonna drop alongside the Tensio in the middle of the field to be more of an offensive midfield threat, and Montero is gonna play as a number ten in behind Rudis. Yeah. I think it's away from branch Metter to get you know, all these best attacking players right now who are

available onto the pitch. Nikoladero not his ideal position, but he's done that job many times before. I think it now lets a Dero sort of playmaker quarterback from a deeper role. At Tensil's role becomes very important because Ladero has the license to attack and join the atensio. Yes, you can join the attack, but be very aware of defensive transitions to give the center back some

cover. Montero, Madero, Leo Chu, Alex rod Yard, Rudy as they have the freedom to go. The rest of the team have to still be careful. You don't want to go down to zero Sounders in possession with the tension middle of the field. Good temper to the game now, as the Sounders chase this game as a trail, won't go to kneel against the Earthquakes. Here at QC Pitch lubin field, we'll go to Montera back to Leo two left on side the fast side, the left guess towards the end

line cuts it along clear. Eventually by Rodriguez finds Espinoza, but runs out of play on the fast side the left Keller Roth throws it in quickly to Ariaga as a Sounders now we're gonna build again. Jackson Reagan collects the ball on this near side the right in front the Sounders bench maker whiting into Alex. Roldan sits on a yellow card as you mentioned, misses the game on satyas poland so open for a little bit of magic out of Alex in its

final fifteen minutes. As we get into the seventy sixth minute, here downtown Seattle, sound is chasing that equalizing goal as they collect the ball top of the box with Ladero inside to Montero inside the box, clip to the back post had on. It was we always blocked. Look for the post. He was a chance for the sounders block to venture by centers. Ain't Cliff all right? It's really good football by the sounders. Look Nikoladero with a

past that gets Freddie Montero and a Freddy has a great job here. Thought about the shot delayed delayed putting a very good board and water run by Rowan good head up that's very well defended by San Jose. Where the pressure keeps mounting, crash from Mooney on. Rudy had gets the end line, cuts it back, stays in bounds. More Tera tries to collect your pressure from the sound as he wriggles free founds the ball to Espinoza on the fast side

the right clips it into your pulled back. It's Loodera top of the box, fouled by Grotzo. He's gonna call the earlier one from Jackson your yellow card in your the second foul top of the box. The first trag was about twenty five yards from gold That's where the free kick will go down. Yeah, and gives a sound as another chance to put a quality ball into the box. The service tonight has been okay. You still get a feeling that that's an air. The sound has been improving. It's definitely an area

with room for improvement. Get quality balls into the box. And now as we approached what would be the final fifteen minutes or so depending on time added on, these moments become more and more crucial when it's interesting to see Rudia has taken interest in this because it is quite far out, but I would not point it past that man. Well, Daniels. So far the golf of sunders made a couple of really good saves. Ten shots for the sound as four shots on target. Now is rude yaz the plate shore right off

the training ground to Montera. I'm quite sure that's exactly how he's designed, but Calan Rowe has it. Strikes the ball. It's a good shot collected well by Daniel Low to his right, did not fumble it. It was Montero was close by for the rebound, but he pulled it in safe as Steve. The sounders are knocking, knocking and different. It's hard to be pleased when you're behind, but Bryan smith A has to be happy with his

team's response. They responded very well, very well, and add all rightness from down The referees will get involved because he's made that save and it's taken thirty seconds to get the ball up the pitch and out of his hands. And listen if that times added one later on when we get eight minutes added on. No complaints, but the reference to even manage that now or punished them later. Michelle, we're gonna throw it down to you. Yes,

I've got an update on the conditions down here. Since about the fiftieth minute of this match, wind has massively picked up here down on the pitch heat on the right hand side inside the box. Great Baker White towards the end line, steps it up and it's very ruy. Diaz is wide. It was a chance for about ten yards. It was a good ball over the top root beet Baker Whites and found the ball towards the end line, clip towards Mury Diaz Sli of rustin US puts it wide, Gold kicks sad Rose.

But Michelle, we're gonna throw it back down to you. Yes. I was mentioning that the wind is massively picked up, moving mostly from eastward as opposes to north to south, but the gusts have been so large I should say that I'd be curious on your thoughts if you think that factor isn't at this point in the match into crosses like what we just saw, long shots and corner kicks just because of the wind having a factor and on the legs and the rest and kind of the stamina of these players, make sure

I faster that Personally, for me, anything cold or wind or rain always bothered me. But I will say in terms of the game, and yes, I think for the guys, once you're out there, you're running around, it's not too much of a factor. It just depends how high boards gold kids set pieces. It can have an impact on that angle by in general in this part of the world, I think we're used to it for growing up in England. Yeah, that way it came out with America.

Yeah, the rain, I thought I got away from it and then I came to Settle. So set as they pick it up. Sound has picked the pocket to come again left hand side, the far side, the left. Kellen Rowe comes inside to Montero strikes the ball and it's low and hard. Could say by Dannielle's gonna roll out for a corner kickless Sounders. There was a speculative shop by Montera from all of thirty yards out, but he practicbate the safe he did, but I don't know why that he's been that

convincing to me. Danielle. That's it's come from a very long way. Seize it the whole way. Yes, it moves a bit as a bounce, but keep shooting a bit of Sounder Ladero left hand side. It's gonna be an outswinging corner kick or a free us to organize the players as in Bobsie, Mooney challenges the sound As the ball comes in top corner of the six yard boxs cleared by Rodriguez. Kellerro back to Ladero nicely left hand side clips at middle of the goal. As Leo two goes up, ball bounces

around strike by Alex Roldan blocked by San Jose. Another chance for the Sounders, and San Jose continue to defend their goal wells they maintain possession. It's near side. The left pressure from Alex rolled on cleared by Growths are down the line, Espinosa holding off Baker Whiting well back to Tommy Thompson to Bobs back to Gold. San Jose building well out of the back, crosses halfway

line to Bobocy down the line to Espinoza. Baker whites and collects the ball well in the bottom right corner here as we look at it, it's near side. The sound goes right. There's an advounce for San Jose throwing. No rush by Tommy Thompson. No, they'll they'll take their time. They'll walk to every set piece, every throw in. They'll take their sweet time. Sundos there. As the clock ticks down, the end up the final ten minutes or so, it's gonna be Treco and Tommy Thompson this near side

the left, deep in the left corner for San Jose. As they sound as press and c atentio and rolled on the come away with it. Ladera playing in that central midfield position now atensio back to Jackson Regan. Good pressure for my popacy goes two Stephan Fry difficult ball, but that sound has come away with it. It was pressure from San Jose and the sound has come

away with it. Well, good composed possession getting out of pressure as the ball sits on the far side of the left with Ruy Diaz trying to find the game now collects the ball, plays it into Ariaga shifts it from center to right. Jackson Reagan ball advanced now on this right hand side, so Ladera back to Reagan, read Baker, Whiting and support. Ball gets clicked

to the far side. Espinoza ready well came back to near the ball cushion headed by Atensio, and the sound has come again on this near side the right channel twenty five yards from the end line, with Jackson Reagan back to Atensio. San Jose holding their line top of the box. Montera drifts away ball top of the box to Ruy diasc the adventure by Mooney, but only

to Jacksonaga as the sound has come again in waves. Now did try to find this equalizing gold fourteen shots on the game so far Atensio now twenty five yards from Gold, so Ladero dominated possession of sixty five percent, but they need to find chances. Leo Chu towards the end line inside the box, clips it back Lex Todays Day by Daniel Frustration from Montera from Murray Diaz too easy mentioned Daniel clex it for San Jose. Yeah, and that's still an

evolution of Leo chues game. I think every young winer sort of sort of bosster. It beat his man very well in that occasion. There's no need Tonist to board in the box. That's on the piece of skill. It's fantastic. He's been great all night. Take nothing away from that, but those moments it's called for quality. You've got to find a way to pick

out a teammate well, at least put the board into an era. When San Jose have a tough time defending it, throwing it up to the Goldi's hands, it belts du Montero fastside, the left comes inside of the middle to Kellen. Roguet's challenged, finds a way to get the ball forward. Ladero will nudge on the ball inside the box, flecks the top of the box, Kellen row back to Ladero, so Montero tries to find Row again.

Sounders come from Oriaga switch to the plate this near side. The right baker whites and clips them his left foot and it's clear bit by mooning for a Sounders corner kick could have let it go but didn't. Yeah, and we happy to see that sundles right now I've been the old West enemy. They're defending very very deep, encouraging the pressure to come from the Sounders,

and it's been coming. It's been coming, just missing that final piece for the moment to be Ladero corner kick on the left hand side Outswinger comes in top corner of the box, clips over the top goal kick. Westcote Conference rival, the San Jose Earthquakes. This seventy seventh game between these two clubs dating back to May nineteen seventy four, what can be considered the oldest rivalry down the West Coast. As San Jose give it away cheaply Atensia FlexIt across the halfway line, runs forward, plays the ball over the top to Baker whiteing towards the end line, rips it him with his right foot flexwell cleared by san Jose and it was a foot left in by Atensio.

Referee is going to pull him across. Nothing more than a bad time challenge again, yellow kid. It just feels Steve. Yeah, it's the referee is just giving them out. Yeah, I think in a moment is an attention? Is it a genuine attempt to play the ball. Absolutely, he's a little bit late. No need for a card there. At Sandoise will take the free kick happily. Gives them time to eat some more seconds off the clock. As the ball up, we're gonna start seeing them try to

play the corners a bit more waste time. There's activity on the Sandose bench again, trying to get some fresh legs out there. But for the Sounds have done everything you can you butt score since going behind. Well, we mentioned against New York Red Bulls as Sounders tied now in MLFS for the most points at home with four hundred and thirty six points at home since two thousand and ten, and boy would they want to try and addswer that total today

as they trail one gold to nail against the Earthquakes. Sounders were first in the Western Conference coming into tonight's game. San Jose were fifth, But it's

the Sounds that trail. As we approached a ninety minute mark, Sound has made their moves, Ruy Diaz on the field, Montero on the field, Alex Roldan sliding higher, and that advanced White midfield spot Ladero still on the field playing alongside a Tensia as Jackson Reagan whispers in the referees here just to remind him that the minute or two that's been wasted by San Jose should certainly be added onto the clock, and we'll see what that extra mile stoppish time

is when the board goes up in just a minute or two. As the ball goes a bobsie held off well in front of the San Jose bench, but Sound has come away with it with a throw Baker White and back to Jackson Reagan's Roriaga as the Sounders now build again, dominated possession a second half

with sixty seven percent. As the ball goes to Baker White to a Tensio down the right hand side, flicks the ball up to the back post finds eventually Leo Choo's gonna save it on that fat side the left, challenged by Mooney, rolls the ball across, finds Leadero left corner of the box. Keller Rowan support comes in on his preferred right foot, rips it in clipped over. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. Twenty two shots for the Sounders in this game, seventeen in the second half. That was

the eighteenth. As they come again for the ninth corner kick, there's Montera now this near side the right as San Jose gonna make a couple of late changes, burn off a few more seconds of the clot the referee. It's gonna encourage the San Jose players, who are gonna be some doubt to go off the field. Looks like Montera, Jackson Yuell, we'll see the players are We're gonna come on the field. As the Sounders snap up, it's

clearly Buddha. We'll sit in Baldissimat. Sounders have it. Baker White against the port. Montero clips the ball in challenge by Jack Serrain, clatters into Tommy Thomas and ball drops the top of the box. Then she cleared by Ibobasi, locks it high and long and Stephen Fry collects the ball, plays it to Baker Whiting on the right hand side. The sound has come again.

Eleven men behind the ball for San Jose. As the ball gets clipped to the Montera inside the box, headed clear by Troco, It's gonna be another Sounders corner kick this near side the right and it's it's gonna be a route one directs uff now for the Sounders. Get them one into the box forced turnovers. Wall comes in headed clear again by San Jose's stood tall and

stood strong so far. Wall goes to the bad post headed inside, eventually find itself to kell and Rone. The extra mas stoppag chimes five minutes. The ball goes into the box. Leo Chu inside left channel, climp to the back post, collected by Daniel. He falls to the ground. As I mentioned, the extra mais stoppage time is five minutes. Five minutes to the sound is to find this equalizing goal. As they trail one goal to

nil to the Earthquakes. The sculpting is presented by provident Swedish. Daniel locks it long, high long to Jackson Reagan as he cushions a header back to Stephen Fry. It's now playing his almost a sweeper on that back of the goal hasn't had much nuisance if Bobius's goal Early in this second half, as the sound has come again with Ladera playing in the middle of the field with Oriaga sent a circle shifts at the center to write pressure from Buddha. Sounds

now trying to find the opening. All they need is that one chance. They've had plenty of possession. As the board goes into Leo Chu towards he and I flix it in and he was Ruy Diaz inside the six yard books couldn't direct it on goal, goes wide of Danielle's goal, and was that the chance for the Sounders to put a goal on the board? Goal kick? I mean there's a collective sense of disbelief here because that's while Rudiz and I will say this, the board does come very quickly. It's a great

board by Leo Tubok. Rudias wasn't able to open up his body fully, That's why he's trying to do. But listen inside the six yard box. That is a good a chance as he can hope to get magic from Leo Chu and Freddie Montero to create a chance. That's the second big one that Rudiaz has not converted, and even a players great as him. That's why

sometimes if you're out of match practice, you don't quite at yourself. And in that final moment, even a great Rui Das miss and two big chances that should have been one one all goes along to Ruie Diaz clipped by Rodriguez, clared by Bison. As we mentioned, San Jose have given up goals after the ninetieth minute, given up eight points so far this season after the ninetieth minute, So the Sounders will come again with confidence to try and get

that goals. It's cleared by San Jose and as Bonoza keeps it in bounds, knocks it off Josh Atensi on the far side the San Jose right, it's gonna be a throne for San Jose and knock some additional seconds off the club. As Rodriguez goes down, pulled up by Rui Dz, basically a few more seconds on the club. San Jose have won six games in Seattle, tied most in MLS for a team coming into Looming Field, tied with Sporting Kansas CE who got there win here just a few weeks ago winning two

to one. As the Sounder is now defending again, are throwing for San Jose. Not what they want right now and want the ball on the field, on the deck to get it forward and find that equalizing goal. The ball goes over the end line. Sounders gold kick San Jose, gonna work their weight back the San Jose player down on the ground. We'll see who that is. Can't see a number right now, but see for Brian Schmittzer,

just another disappointing, frustrating game. Dominated possession, yeah, dominating passes, chances on golds and be able to put one away. Well, I think what would disappoint him is the urgency in the final third only came when he went behind, because in the first off, yeah, possession was good, build up was good, but there wasn't a sense of urgency off we need to score, we have to score. That only came when San Jose

began to drop back. And the sound has had to go for itself before Saturday, and it's ten a minute to go here, but before Saturday, you've got to find a way to play with the urgency. Even at zero zero at Neil Neil can still be hunger around the box. Can you still be drimming? Can you get the fans something to screen about? The football was good at times, but it wasn't effective and dead the end the final third, that determination desire to really make that run and beat your man to

a boarding a set piece. It only came after falling behind. That's what we're disappointed him and for the sounds it looks like. And now the home loss with Portland coming to town suit in the final minute of five added minutes as attention comes away, that will leave with Kellen Rope and it's an espinoza. Oh foul by keller Roads A bad time, bad place to give away a foul and that's gonna run the final seconds off the clock here and San

Jose are gonna come in. They have not won an away game in fourteen games, but they come into luman Field tonight and what looks like a smash and grab one nil win against their sound the sounders. As fans start to make their way out, you can feel it and sense it to be past a five minute mark. See if the referee had another minute or two based on time wasting and there's the whistle no at a time by the referee. It was a goal by a Bobersi in the forty eighth minute that gets San

Jose the win tonight at lumen Field. Steve, your final thoughts disappointing, but that's not the way you want to prepare before your biggest rabbles come to town. It's another home loss. There's a lot to think about for Branch

semester. Of course, are they playing well enough to win? Yes, But a question that becomes what is the missing link, especially that final third in terms of when it is that nil nil trying to take the lead and playing with that urgency and that intensity that we only saw after the Sounders went behind. But give foot grad to Sunders. They came in here, had a game plan, want themselves in a lead, and then defended for their lives and they now go back to California with free, massive points and for

the Sounders no time to folcided for yourselves. It's a big one on the weekend. And that's the good thing about this sport. You always get another chance and it can come soon enough for this sound as team. Well thanks to Terry and Keeley here in the booth. Kevin kay is always for his great research and information. Of course, to sound as legend Steve zat Quane. The Sounders couldn't break a resilience San Jose back line tonight and we'ren't able

to find the result they desperately wanted. We'll take a short break, Jackson Felts and Chance Fry, We'll be back to break it all down to meet you see pitch at Looming Field. It finishes Sounders nil San Jose one, Seattle Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ RFM Seattle and I Heart Radio station available everywhere on our free Heart Radio number one for music radio and podcasts all

in one. Welcome to the Sounders FC Post match Show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC post Match Show starts now. The Seattle Sounders falling tonight at Looming Field to the Santos eight Earthquakes a score of one nothing Santos A. Let's head down on the field, Michelle Ludkill with Kellen Rowe and Kellen your initial impressions of tonight's performance for your team seconds was good after the goal.

Unfortunately it took us down a goal to start playing and creating and having that urgency. It's I hate to say any of again, but it's a learning lesson that you got to come out in the foot the front foot each half. We unfortunately didn't. I think we had a lot of chances. Myself included I'm, you know, kicking myself. I didn't have that header.

But hey, it's it's unfortunately for us. We gotta be like Ted Lasso says, b like goalfish and you know, get back on Saturday, Becau, Saturday is a Saturday's a big one, best quote of all time. Speaking of the chances there that you were saying, it seems like lately there has been a lot of opportunities and chances created in the final third, just not quite finding the back of the net. What do you I think is missing in that final third? Oh, it's just a little bit of

savviness, a little bit of quality. And I know I can attest that rolls kicking himself as well, and I know I am. It's you know, it's we've been out what four six weeks, It tastes a little bit of time. I think with this many chances missed, you're going to see a lot of chances go in here in the future. Your first match since April twenty ninth, How are you feeling? Feeling good? A little tire,

feeling good. You've had an interesting role since coming back to Seattle, really sliding in as a utility player, seeing action in seven different positions for the Sounder since you came back to Seattle. During your time away over the last month, while you've been away from actually physically being on the field, has that allowed you to kind of look at the game, watch the game, learn from the game as you kind of continue to carve out this utility

role for yourself. It's it's funny, you know, I was. You watch it, you analyze it. You try and help guys on the sideline as much as you can because you see the whole field. And when you get on the field, it's such a different game, and everyone who's played this before you knows it's a little bit faster. You don't see that because you know, I'm sitting from bird's eye view. I can see everything. Guys in the field. You've got guys running at you, got little tiny

spaces, so it came at me pretty fast. Luckily, I had some time around me today and made things a little easier. As you guys now turn the page and gear up for Portland on Saturday. What do you think needs to happen over the course of the next couple of days to come away with three points on Saturday? Not dull on this look, this is a this is a result that was unfortunate. I think we could have had a time, we could have won this game. I think everyone knows that in

the locker room once they sit down and actually realize it. Obviously it stings at the moment. We have to get over it. We have to make sure that we have the same tenacity that we had after they scored all game against Portland, because we know it's a big rival, we know that we haven't done well in the past. We need to make sure that we bring that back. Last one for you, Kellen, obviously not the result you guys wanted in Portland when you guys were down there against the Timbers. Any

extra motivation given the way that one played out. I think there's always motivation when you when you play a team like Portland. It's something that for me is in my heart. I mean, it's Seattle versus Seattle versus Portland is is the biggest rival we I've ever seen, So it's a tenacity that you have to have. Like I said that that same it's nasty, the same stabbing us, the same playmaking and ball winning that we had when they scored

a goal. We need that the whole game. Kellen appreciate the time, especially after the loss. Congratulations on making it back tonight. Thanks so much, Jackson. Thanks Michelle. It's Michelle Ludka down on the field with Kellen Rowe. All right, Well, he said that they won't dwell on it and they need to move past it. But for the next hour of this postgame show, we are going to dwell on it. So we are going to talk through that. Welcome in to the full length hour long post match

show, Jackson Felts alongside Saunders, Legend, Chance Fry and Chance. There's gonna be a lot that we try to break down from this one. We're gonna hear from head coach Brian Schmitzer. We're gonna talk about Portland coming up, but we have to, you know, sorry, Kellen, dwell on it. We have to break this thing down. And I mentioned in pregame listen, I'm a fan first and I know the feelings of many fans leaving this building. They are very angry, They're very frustrated. They know exactly

what Kellen said. This should have been at least one point, with the chances that this team created in the second half, a chance. There is a lot of frustration. Helped me understand why I shouldn't be ridiculously angry right now, or tell me why I should. I don't think you should. Okay, I believe what Kellen said was perfectly correct. They need to forget about this one. Once they look at the tape, they're gonna look back and go, this should have been a winner, not just a tie.

For sure. I'm looking back on after they scored the San Jose scored the goal. Knew who lost his mark on that corner kick, just a lack of concentration for a second. They jump on it. After that, we absolutely pounded them and Raoul. I'm a huge fan of Roles and I would have bet my life on a couple of those. But he has come from injury and I know I was a striker. It's is the hardest thing to

do, is to score goals. But he's the one that's right there and we had a couple of other chances to pause right because he comes into this match there in the enter in the fifty eighth minute where all comes from an inf a bear Red Baker Whiting comes in for Dylan Tevaz, Alex Roldan slides up role as I count three great chances. His first touch was a great chance. Has chances in the in the seventy ninth ninety second minute as well.

Miss is the uncharacteristic un characteristically misses those chances. Is it as simple as him just still getting his legs under him coming back or is there anything more to that or is it just kind of just working his way back in. It's a little bit of everything, getting your legs underneath you. But as a striker, you just just dwell on confidence, and um you need

to have that confidence. And you know what, he puts one in all of a sudden, he gets two more right after that, and UM, I personally believe in rue Diaz, So does you know, Brian and everybody else in this stadium. UM, I really believe that tonight was Here's the deal. The one thing that I was thinking about and didn't say it beforehand, is that a team it hasn't you know, had a result on the road in fourteen games. They're due and they they they're in the locker room

high five in each other. They got so lucky. They really did. I mean it did. We We went through the you know, the it was interesting we went through in the in the prematch show the stats of how long it's been since San Jose's got a result on the road. What is it? I think you have the stat of four draws, right, so

it's been fourteen. They've also given up six goals in added time. And when we saw in the ninety second minute, two makes that run down the left and puts the ball into Rool who I mean, he makes a great run. He usually just buries it, but it goes too high. I mean, that was the moment. You know, you're I mean, as I'm seeing Roll and Leo making the run, You're thinking, is San Jose

just did it again? And it just it's just that in degree And it's kind of felt this entire game like the Sounders were always that inch off here or there, and it just I mean, it's it's a game of inches, and the inches pile up and they'll leave you with zero goals. Yeah, and the way that that Ruy Diez came in and hit that shot. You can see the way he dragged it. He sort of pulled it because he was anxious. He was on top of it too much and dragged it

to his left a little bit more calmness, just holding back. He opens his foot and he's going to tuck that in the far corner for sure. And at that point though, he and everybody else in the stadium, we didn't care if it hit off of his head, knee, stomach, but it just go in because the goalkeeper was dead in the water, had no idea, he was just standing. I was so ready to say that that was our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the Match. I was so ready to

give you that highlight. Unfortunately we can, but I'll tell you that the Play of the Match each week is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Jackson felt in chance for I here for the next forty five minutes on the post match show to break it all down and react to the sounders one nothing lost tonight to the San Jose earthquakes. I think

we're gonna take a break right now. We're gonna come back, and because I don't want to miss any of Brian Spencer's post match press conference down from the Battles of Women Field, So let's take a quick break, we'll come back, make sure we get all of head coach Brian Spencer's comments that should be next on the post match show Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM

sounders falling tonight at woman Field to the San Jose earthquakes one nothing. Let's go down and hear from head coach Brian Spencer was who can't draw points at home all the time? You know, yeah, we created a bunch. I mean, we created a ton of chances. I don't know what the expected goals will be, but we we had a lot of good opportunities. You know, you gotta give credit. You know, Steph Fry makes that save last game. Uh, their goalkeeper made that save on a bear.

That was a that was a really good save. In the first half. Um, you know he was able to make a couple of easier saves. Uh, But you know, credit credit damn for staying in there. But overall, I thought, you know, we created enough chances and we just couldn't score. Jeremiah to fall up real quickly on that. You said, what are you saying on the on the corner tick goal? What were you saying that you have to because we didn't have time to train it as much

as I would have liked. We put Deva's at the back Postum, it was a new position for the kid. We walked through it, but walk throughs aren't the same as live training, and so the responsibility there, it's not on Teva's actually the goal. I mean I knew who should have stayed with him, Josh, the initial header. You know, it was a combination of things. But in our zone, how we how we set up that space has always covered. So that's I can't blame the kid for it.

So as far as the what do you tell the guys when they're creating as many chances as they created in that game? For what it's worth, it was almost three XG. What like is that something that you can coach? Is that something that like, what do you what do you say we have the last two weeks, Jeremiah, last three weeks we've been doing I would say eighty twenty. As far as attacking exercises drills versus defending, I mean, you know, I complained last week or the other week about giving

up some goals. So we did a couple sessions on back for work and being a little bit more stingy. But we've worked hard and long, and look, Raoul's gonna score goals. A Bear is gonna score goals. Sometimes their goal scores are streaky. You know, Raoul's first game since Abl fifteen. But you know, these these types of games hurt because we should have gotten more out of the game. Go over to Unique. Mike's coming your way on the defensive end. Have you records a start today? He just

wanted to get your take on his play. Overall, in the ninety minutes, I thought Hobby was pretty good. I mean, early in the first half he was spraying a couple of good balls, but he dealt with Ebusi fairly well. You know, we wanted to give Yaimar a little bit of rest. I rested Jackson the other week. Hobby's a good player. He's a starter on a lot of teams in MLS. I thought it was good. Owen over to you. Yeah, how important is confidence for a player

like Leo Sho? Obviously, you know his first two seasons, it took some time to grow in, but now he's looking really confident. Have you coached players like that before? And kind of what do you say to him? Well, Lee, it was a good talent, good talent, good good player. What we have said to him in the last two years of work, hard work, smart, plenty of repetitions of training. We were actually going to take him off to try and save some legs too, because

he's got to start again against Portland. But you know, he was effective, so we did. We made the decision not to take him out of the game and he almost delivered. I mean, he had a bunch of good balls across, so kid was good. I wanted to get your thoughts on Read Baker Whiting. He's sending in quite a few dangerous balls into the box after he came on. Perhaps a movement to make him more of a regular. Well, Read's improvement has been noticeable by the coaching staff and by

everybody that watches him play. Needs another one that just needs a little more seasoning, a little more experience. Wouldn't say that he's going to be the starting right back for our club now, but he certainly is going to put pressure on Alex for sure. And since Alex got his yellow card. He's gonna kid's got a good chance of starting, So we'll see, all right, we'll cut back around of the front. Over here to John Marshall and

mos I see your fault for a follow up reminder on zoom. If you have a question, now's the time to get your hand up in the raised hand function button. John, over to you, Brian. Tonight you led most every stat on the stat sheet other than the most important one, the one that sticks out to meet those ten corners from the night. What can you do as a team to be more effective on corners and set pieces. We've actually trained a lot in that in that regard. The execution of the

dough wasn't good tonight. You know, the service has to be there, the movements in the box if they're you know, preventing one thing you know that we've trained on during the week. We've got to switch years. I don't know. I have to look at them trying to think of which one of them more dangerous, and I can't think of one. So maybe that's to your point. But we'll watch the film and you know, Friday can

be a good day. We're gonna have a regen session tomorrow, but Friday can be a good day where we can throw some of that in there and in the build up to Portland. All right, on zoom, We're gonna go over to Jackson. Felts. Jackson, go ahead and ask your question. I see your hand raise, yeah, coach. I'm wondering after what

happened down in Portland at the previous time. Obviously these are always intense rivalry matches, but because of what happened down there, does it give you personally a little extra buzz going into this one here on Saturday back at home. It's not about me, Jackson, It's about the players in that locker room. I just warned them that they need to be prepared and ready for Saturday. But it's not me. I'm not stepping on the field. They're the

ones that have to do that, and they will hear the message. I think I was pretty clear. But you know, it's up to them to perform, and we will do our jobs as coaches to make sure some of the details on you know, set pieces, defensively, whoever we roll out there, make sure that everybody is in sync, that they're on the same page, they understand their roles and responsibilities. We'll make sure that we do our job because that's what you have to look at first, and then Jackson,

the players have to remember that game as well. Sleep in the Kida. Over to you next, Phelipe, please ask your question. I see your hand raised, dounzone. Thank your next coach, Brian. What's next for the team is a little time to prepare against Portland. Color recovered the team mental need and physically well. They said they have a regent tomorrow and then we'll train on Friday and then an early kickoff one thirty kickoff for Saturday. So there's not a lot of time, but we'll make the best use

of that time to get them ready. All right, we have time for a couple of follow ups, so over to Mas. You've been how do your hand raised? Yeah, Bron, I'm just gonna ask about Alex Rodan. I mean, I know he got to yellow card, but he was his versatility in this game and then also just all season what you've asked of him, Well, this game, we moved him up the line when Reid came on, and he was good. I mean he played there in college

Repete and Seattle University. He was an attacking player midfield players, so he can play there and I actually kind of liked that, So maybe there's a a little bit of room there. But you know, his brothers coming back probably for Saturday, so we'll see how that rolls out. Jeremiah over to you. Yeah, well, I guess what was the thinking in terms of balancing going forward this game in terms of minutes played and saving guys for Saturday

or was there any of that at all? Going to thinking, There was a lot of that gone into the planning for this game, but then after they scored that goal, things changed. I thought we could get something out of this game. So I left guys on, subed Albert out because he was dealing with a little bit of you know, stomach virus. I need him to be fresh for Saturday. H you know, Yaimar, you know, like I said, I wanted to get Chew off. Tevez is gonna

have to start again. So that was the sub there. So there were some guys that we were thinking about for Saturday, but the way the game unfolded, it wasn't you've been listening to the sounders. FCO just wanted to get a little bit deeper on you know, rolls prices on the field. Obviously hasn't played for a while, but he seemed like he was well positioned and he was rioting the game. Well, what was your assessment on how

he came on and kind of influenced the game? Good? He was good in all phases except for you know, he wishes I know because I know Raoul's body language. Uh, you know, he wishes he could have some of those chances back because normally, when he's informed, he's going to score

those all day long. Johnny Seattle Sounders head coach Brian Schwitzer there following a Sounders one nothing win but nothing loss at lumin Field, Jackson felt the chance fried chance that before we get to a break and there's a lot there that I want to ask you about, but quickly, first, your initial takeaways from what he said. My initial takeaway is that he's disappointed. Right,

Um, he knows that his players gave every single thing they could. They did every single thing that they could have accept put the ball in the net. And I know that that's a cliche that we use lots of times, but um, that is the reality of it. I know he said that they went in they talked about the message going forward for Saturday, and I believe that that was given in a positive manner. Though Okay, there's no reason to go beat them up. They did everything. They tried their hardest.

There wasn't anybody that didn't put out a great effort, and so I think that that the players are going to feel good when they go into these next two days. He talked about the region and then we walk throughs on Friday and and then the game on Saturday early. Yeah. I want to come back and talk to you about his comments. That's why I jumped into the press conference because I know he said this isn't about me, but it kind of is. Brian, I don't want to explain my thoughts on that

here in a moment. Sounds sound Trains that would like to remind everyone to obey all signs and signals winner on train tracks. Next on the postgame Show, coming off of a one nothing Sounds loss on Sports Radio at ninety three point three KJRFM Welcome back to luman Field, where your Seattle Sunders have dropped a results tonight at home to the San Jose Earthquakes, who hadn't won on the road in fourteen games. They get it done here tonight at luman Field. Final score by

a score of one nothing. And Delta Airlines is proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season their Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball program. Jackson feltson Chance Fry here on the extended edition post match show. It's really you know, we're also merging this with Sounders Weekly this week, which I believe is going to be maybe moving to Wednesdays moving forward on ninety three point three KJR FM from seven to a pm,

so be on the lookout for that. But you know, we're kind of merging this postgame show with and extended Sounders Weekly. But Chance, I want to go back to Brian's comment there, and I jumped into that press conference because I had a very specific question which was coming off of what happened against the p Portland Timbers, who the Sounders are gonna be facing this Saturday.

We'll continue to talk about it over the next half hour doubleheader coming up on Saturday one thirty pre match right here on ninety three point three one fifty five

kickoff against the Portland Timbers here at Luhmann. So looking back to that match down there against Portland where Seattle was leading one nothing and then Portland scored four unanswered in twenty minutes nineteen minutes and beat you four one, And I wanted to ask Brian, I know rivalry games are always intense, but after what happened down there, for you personally, is this a little bit more Does

it give you a little more juice? And he said, it's not about me, and he went on to say, you know, and there was a very good comments here. One of the best comments I think was towards the end where he said players have to remember that game down there. That's extremely important because he's pressuring and emphasizing we need to make sure those guys don't forget. But also he said, it's not about me, and I don't

have a chance. For me. I would say it absolutely is about you, because at the end of the day, you have players like Leo Chu who've come here from Brazil and they've only been here for a few years, and there's many cases like this, right, and they don't know the intensity of Sounders Timbers. The history you know for one hundred and ten battles between Sounders and Timbers, and it is the most intense rivalry in American soccer. And when you go into a game like that, part of the motivation I

would I would think, and that we hear about is building up. This is a massive game. We need to give our all. We need you guys to make sure. I mean, he said it after the loss in Portland. I don't feel like this was a rivalry. I don't feel from our from guys like this was a rivalry. Well it is chance, is

that not? Then on the coaching staff and specifically in number one of the top Brian Spencer, to make sure A. These players understand it's a rivalry match and b give there all absolutely one hundred ten percent because the rivalry match, I would say, it is about you, Brian, making sure that that you can push into the A. Emphasize to everybody who needs to know and everybody who's on the field coming Saturday, this is one of the biggest

games of the year and we need every ounce of bit that you can possibly give for this one. Yeah, here's the deal. Every question that has been asked since the end of this game, from everybody in the press conference and everybody that's driving home tonight and everything else, Brian is answering it.

The problem is is that there's no answer that's satisfactory for when you go away with a one zero loss like this, right, And in terms of the rivalry or you know, doing corner kicks well or free kicks or finishing or whatever, they're working on all that, okay, And I could sense the frustration in Brian's voice a little bit during the press conference because it's like, okay, guys, really, we are working on these things. We talk to the players about this, and I think what he meant by the fact

is that he's not going to be on the field. He doesn't kick a ball. The coaching staff is definitely talking to the players as a group. They're talking to individuals for the specific jobs that they need to do um certain players, you know, like Nikor and leadership roles. They need to pick

up the younger guys. But yeah, there's certain people on the team, and there's certain fans in the stadium, and you and I have this sort of angst because we all hate Portland and we want to win every single time. And obviously there's going to be guys that are on the team that understand the rivalry and they know it's a derby and all that kind of stuff, but they don't have that deep rooted, gut wrenching feel that we have maybe

looking from the outside in. So is there a way to instill that by talking or is it just is it just a matter of is there is there a job that the coaching staff and Brian can do to instill that or does it just come with experience playing these games? Well, I don't know if it's just experience, but it's a professional pride, all right. Every single

game the guys go out there and they give their very best. Sometimes they don't execute, you know, their best, or they don't maybe have it physically that night, But every single time the guys go out on the field, they are giving their best. If they don't, they know the coaches can recognize that and they'll be sitting on the bench next to them in the next game. So, I mean, tonight was a perfect example. You had Alex Roldan. He knew he was on his fifth yellow card and he

was busting his tail the whole game. I mean he was running till his legs couldn't go anymore. So there was nothing from an effort standpoint that the players could have put in more tonight. And I think that's gonna be mirrored on Saturday as well. This whole thing about them being tired, they're gonna get over it. They've got full the staff to get them regenerated. Does

a great job. And the one thing I was thinking about is that while it was lots of intensity down on this end of the field, that wasn't end to end. So we weren't like back and forth, back and four. It was pretty much they were kicking the ball out, we were getting it and we were attached on block shot. There there was one corner in the eighty first minute. I was like, how did we not score? I mean, give San Jose credit. I said that they were lucky,

and I think that they will would agree with that. But they were putting their bodies on the line to stop a few shots and unfortunately for us, you know, one of them could have hit the arm or anything like that, but they were down in their box. They were putting themselves on the

line and their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves. Going back to the robbery talk, because you and I talked in the break about something interesting in a game like this where you're coming off of a disappointing one nothing loss against San Jose and the last time you faced this team they beat you four to one in a just shocking twenty minute you know explosion. Basically, there's the thought of playing this game against Portland like a normal game or giving more,

going harder in it. And my point of of, you know, of motivating them to the point that they play with every ounce of energy they could possibly muster up is one side. But then there's the other side of of playing it just like any other important soccer match. Where do you fall in that spectrum? Will there's a there's something and Brian mentioned it. Not only do they have to play hard, but they have to play smart. You can't have just a bunch of you know, guys running around with their heads

cut off, just working so hard and not playing with their brains. So a lot of times in a soccer game, you have to slow the ball down, you have to think, you have to decide when you're going to go into a tackle or not go into a tackle or whatever. So they can't just go out there with this, you know, gumption of like, hey, we're just going to run around and do our very best and work hard and make it look like we're doing something, because soccer is about thinking

as well. Yeah, okay, some of the greatest players in the world never break a sweat barely because just jogging in the right spots. Okay, So it's about working hard, but it's about working smart as well, and they have to keep their heads, which is difficult to do, and play methodical and do exactly. I mean, honestly, if they would have scored two or three goals here tonight, we wouldn't have said anything about any mispasses,

corner kicks or anything like that. None of those questions would have Oh if they scored one, two or three goals tonight, the conversation, the tone, my emotions, it's a complete one eighty. But that's the beauty of being a fan is that is that my emotions, each and every even my wife can attest this. It honestly rides on how this club does. Because I will go home tonight and I will spend the forty minutes driving home, screaming at loud music in my car. I'll get home, I'll be

quiet. My wife will just understand that I'm in a bad mood. If they had scored three goals. I'm singing the praises while the driving home, and I'm all talkative and happy and I probably have a drink when I at home. So that's that's the game, right, It is that close. It is the game, and and and the the press conference would have been, Man, it looked like you guys were working on corner kicks all week

instead of should you work? You know what I mean? And it's a game of inches, you know, sometimes the ball bounce is funny, all these cliches we talk about in soccer, But that's that's the beauty about soccer, is that sometimes the better team doesn't win. And we've been on the other side of that too, and we've won games where we walked out looking

around going okay, did did anybody see us steal that one? And um, but tonight, well there you go, and um, you know, San Jose's getting on the plane tonight or tomorrow wherever they go, and they're they're they're feeling very fortunate and they should be feeling fortunate. A one nothing win for the Earthquakes tonight here at Louman Field. That was good though. Let's let's continue talking about Poland, but this time from the tactical side of

what we'll see on the field. I mentioned Alex rolled on, he suspended five yellow cards. All what else based on what we saw tonight will happen out on the field in Brian Schmitzer's starting lineup. What will we see take place here this Saturday at lumin Field in what should be a massive day for soccer. Will tell you all about the fun coming up here at Luminfield on Saturday and what we'll see on the field that's next on the post match show

sixty. Chance. Before we dig into the starting lineups and and all of that, I mean, going back to your playing days, what are your emotions going into these these Darby's, these rivalry matches like this, Uh, Sounders Timbers and all the history that goes along with it. It's always exciting. Um, you've got a bunch of their fans that have come up here and you know, try to wreck our day and everything like that, and

it's always fun to play against them. You get a couple more games than you do against some of the other teams in the league, so um, it's it's always a good time. I think on Saturday, the boys are gonna be super excited. Um, they're gonna be motivated. Honestly, They're gonna take what happened tonight and turn it into a positive and work really hard and I hope get a result on Saturday. So it's not going to be easy. They've got some knocks. They've got a couple of guys that are

out, a couple of suspensions and stuff like that. But we've got a good squad and you know some players like Reid Baker White and he came out and he played fantastic when he came on. Well, let's start building this because as we talk through this and we think through what Brian Schenzer can do, let's just start at the top. Ral Rudias played what about twenty plus minutes here tonight, and he came on the fifty eighth minute, so actually

about thirty minutes. That's a lot of minutes. I would think rawl Rudiaz has has enough in him. Whether it's forty five, whether it's sixty, I would think you can start role in this game. You know what. It's a Sometimes you do that, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you wait and you're gonna bring him on to give him a little bit more time to sort of get into it. The other thought is, hey, let's start him

and see how long you can go. Right. So that's a coach decision, and I'm sure Brian will be talking to the trainers and see how Row feels after tonight. More of a health thing, yeah, And to be honest, I mean, there was a couple times where he had to run back and play some defense, but we had them so pinned in on the second half. Row was just roaming around the top of the eighteen. It's

not like he had to do a ton of running. So if he didn't get pick up any other, like, you know, little injuries or anything like that, he should be good to go on Saturday. Okay, so that's so as long as health checks out, roll in there. Let's look at the attacking midfield. You and I were just talking in the break about Nicholas Ladero. He played a full ninety minutes. He played obviously this last Saturday, in the game game against New York Red Bulls. I had a

lot for Nicholas Ladero. But you think he has it in him to start again against Portland. I do. He's got so much pride, he's our team captain. I can't see any way that he is not going to start that game on Saturday. I'd be very, very surprised unless he picked up some and it didn't look like he did because he was busting his tail all over the place tonight. They slid him down when they supped on Freddy Montero

for Robert Russneck, and when they did that, Nico went down. But you're right, they had him so pinned in, and Nico wasn't playing her to the traditional you know, six orready. He's playing basically as you know, right next to Freddie Montero was staying that high up the field, so exactly he didn't have to do a lot more running from deeper in the park. So I would agree with you. And it's a lot of running for

Nico. We saw it a lot last year, where you know, coming off of the twenty twenty one season, Nico had been often uninjured and it was the question of man, is that it is his injury He's finally gonna catch up with him. But he had such a resurgent year, playing so many times, starting three games in a week the last year that confidence is sort of like, all right, he can do it. So if Nico can continue that, then suddenly you have your number ten right underneath Rollods looking

at the wings Branchman's or setting his press conference clears day. We need Leo Chew starting on the left. Leo, choose your left winger, which adds a whole bunch of speed on the right wing. You had mentioned right before we took the air, Josh A. Tencio had a good game tonight? Did Josh Tencio have a good enough game where you put him next to Jualpolo? Ju Alpolo, who's back? He served his one game suspension tonight. He's back, So did joshtenns you have a good enough game where you put

Josh next to JP and slip Albert up to the right wing. Or do you get Keev's there and put JP next to Albert and have that dynamic holding midfield? Yeah? Where do you go? That's that's a very good question. Uh uh, not really sure. I'd have to think about that a little bit more, but uh, you know, I think Albert's gonna be, you know, fresh to go. Apparently he had a stomach virus during the week and everything and had had to be taken off. But he's gonna

be getting fluids and all that kind of stuff. The thing about Nico going back to him and running around and everything. I'm not in their locker room, but I know that he and the support staff have been working, you know, on how much running he's going to be doing all the time, whether it's in training or in games too, you know, elongate his career all right, because I mean you think back a few more years ago.

I mean he's all over the place. Now, he's picking and choosing his run a little bit more tonight at the end of the game, whenever it was getting a little bit you know, frantic and we were trying to get forward, he was going all over the place. But other than that, he's running smartly and not just running all over the place to get the ball

every single time. Yeah, and I think that especially having Albert in there and when Freddie comes in, those are two other outlet guys in the center of the field that can get the ball and do something for going forward. I mean Freddie had a couple of great long range shots that almost you know, surprising goalkeeper. One he had to tip out for a corner kick.

It's a great point. So whether it's a combination of JP and Albert next to each other with Dylan starting, or whether it's JP and Josh starting with Albert up on the right, there are that's that's the couple options there for Brian Schmitzer. Then looking at the back, it's very simple. Stephen frisen goal knew who's your left back? Gomez and Johnnie and Jackson Reagul your center backs. And then because Alex rulled On got his fifth yellow card that means

he has to serve a one game suspension. You would think, Chance, I mean, Kellen Row is available now. But your thoughts reed Baker Whiting today. He came into this match and I think we both thought he looked good. I thought he looked really good. And to be honest, um Ariaga, you know, had been playing a little bit, but he came out super intense, was playing well. So I think there are some options

there, some some things that Brian can can think about. But yeah, the thing about it is that we are not depleted so much with some injuries that we don't have a squad and that he's just putting bandages on. There are a lot of good players there, and so Brian, the one thing that he is really really good at is taking who is available and putting them together to make a team that's competitive. I mean that he's done that from day one. Chance, great stuff that I man. Thank you for the

extended postgame. It's been great to have you in the booth. Thank you it's great to be back and love to be back again.
