Tomorrow face I should say at two pm. They're facing a quarterfinal match against Uruguay. They're at two pm tomorrow, so they could make the semifinals with a win. Coming up in the quarterfinals of the U twenty World Cups. That's why Obed is gone. Now we get to our Providence Swedish team health reports. Cody Baker was in concussion protocol. He's out of it. He's starting of course today. Christian Ladon also was in concussion protocol. He is

out of it. He's on the bench. Ethan Doublair was questionable with the right ankle sprain. He's unavailable today. Players out include sodaquy To Harrow with a right quad strain. Jordan Morris still out without left adductor sprain as well. Today's teen Health Report is presented by Providence Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. We'll take a break, we'll come back and talk about the visitors today here at Loumonfield, the Portland Timbers and everything they are bringing to town.

As we count you down. A kickoff just about fifteen, just about fifteen minutes away right here at Emerald Queen Casino to pitch at loumin Field. Today's counting Down a kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. More next on the Providence Thus prematch show Sports Radio ninety three points three KJRFM, Welcome back to Emerald Quick Casino pitch at lumin Field, where you're Seattle Sounders facing Portland for the one hundred and eighteenth time in

these cities histories. Here we go, and obviously it's a special day doubleheader as the ol Rain will host the Portland Thorns. Come up at five pm tonight, doubleheader match Day here ed lumin Field. Let's jump in today's sharp Vision opponent outlook. Here on these Pearland Timbers and listen. You can list their record four seven and four sixteen points. You can list their stats nineteen goals scored, twenty four against. I can tell you that they haven't won

since May thirteenth. They're coming out back to back glasses. None of that matters. None of that matters. As we saw a month and a half ago, Marcus, this is a rivalry match, and you know the Pearland Timbers are gonna treat this like a final. Yeah, I mean my players to watch today is gonna be too. It's gonna be the outside backs. We got knew Who on the left and then Cody Baker on the right. And with Portland, you know, we talked about a little bit briefly how

they're gonna be kind of more of a counter attack team. They're going to be organized. So who's gonna go forward, who's gonna stay? And you know, the most important thing you think about team shape is if knew who goes, Cody Baker stays right, and then Cody Baker stays, knew who stays And you know, knew who wants to go all the time. So you need to put the reins on him because he's bombing up that sideline all

the time. That's what he wants to do. So can you rain him in today on a really important game where we need to be super solid and make sure it stays at zero? Absolutely diego. When we look at Portland and what they're bringing to town. You mentioned in the first segment, this is about as good of a lineup as Giovanni Savareys they could have put out. And there's a lot of places that Seattle has to be worried about. Yeah, I mean, especially in the meatfield, right, you have experienced

players such as Diego Chatta, who's the captain today. He's there's gonna be a bottle to me in the meadfield. Right. From one side, I like to see Joel Balo after the suspension, to be starting because we need him right to be that playmaker and also recovering the ball when when they lose

it. But also it's gonna be an interesting challenge with a vander right, his compatriot, the Brazilian designated player, who who already showed us during this season what piece capable lot right, and he's not afraid of uh, you know, being himself in this type of a scenario. So that's gonna be to me. The midfield will be crucial. And also, um, let's see how effective the sounds are too, right, because we see we see we saw last game against San Jose how many chances the sounds created and they

couldn't capitalize. Right, So this game you need to score the chance that you have period twenty three shots against San Jose and nothing win in the back of the net. That number needs to change today, Marcus. This Portland team has enough offensive weapons. You have to go in probably thinking that you need a couple of goals to win this game. Um, well I did predict one zero already, so maybe we don't. I love that. Yeah, I didn't stay I you know, I've already predicted that, So I'm

staying with the one zero victory today. But it would be nice to have two or three against a good Portland team, especially in a derby. But this is gonna be a KG match, and you know, I'm really excited to see how the team's gonna line up and even the first five minutes it's gonna be It's gonna be fun. It absolutely will diego. We heard Marcus's players to watch were those outside backs, especially, who's your player to watch?

I like Joel Paolo, not only because he's been crucial for for that midfield, setting the pace, recovering when they lose the ball, and we saw last game we have Joel Polo and there was something missing in the midfield, and also you know at the build up for the for the play, and to me, when Joel Poulos on the field, it liberates Nicoladeiro right to be more himself and not coming back to recover the ball. So I think that to me, Joel Polo is gonna have any important up to me.

My player to watch is gonna be Freddie Montero. We talked about him in the previous segment Marcus about how you know going into this rivalry match the game down in Portland at the end of it, Brian Schmtzer said, it didn't feel like this was a rivalry match, right and going into this now matchup today, I need to make sure that everybody knows this is a rillery, this is an intense game that you play to the level that this game

deserves. And Freddie Monterro, being a veteran who's played in so many Seattle Portland matches, I would love to see Freddy Montero set the tone, whether it's dropping back in the midfield making a tackle, or just whether it's stepping up saying a certain thing. I think there's an opportunity here for a fretter and the leader, for Freddie Montero to make sure everybody emphasizes a nose and

understands just how big of a match this is. Oh, it's a it's a massive match, and you know, and you know Freddie and the way this match is gonna be, it might be that you know, the Sounders are gonna have to play the ball long, and so can Freddie. Now

you know, and Freddie doesn't have to win the ball. He's Freddie's not the biggest forward we have, right so as a forward when you think about when I was kicking to a small they don't have to win that first ball, but they have to put enough pressure on that defender that we the Sounders, that my team would have enough to chance to push up and win that second And so today it's gonna be if we do go long, can the Sounders win that second ball and they win that second ball. That's a great

point to may That's that's certainly a key to this match. We'll get us some more keys to the match coming up. But in terms of that talk about Portland. Today's oppona Alick was presented by Sharp Vision, Modern Lasic and Lens, the official lasic provider of Sounders FC. We are just about ten minutes away from kick here at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at lumin Field. Today's count nine and kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the Entertainment of Capital

of the Northwest. One more break, We'll come back and give you those keys to the match before Seattle Portland number one hundred and eighteen. It kicks off soon here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFF. Welcome back to Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at lumen Field, beautiful day here in Seattle, Washington. The first Sounders Timbers number one hundred and eighteen. This goes back to

nineteen seventy five. Of course, Sounders fifty six, forty six and fifteen across all leagues in all competitions, but now in MLS and the regular season, this thing is fourteen, fourteen and seven dead, even after the Portland's upon Portland has won the last four meetings overall with an eleven to two goal advantage. Let's get to Keyston match. How do the Sounders break this and

finally get a win today? Marcus Well, I think it's all going to be about the service and a number of crosses we can get in from from out wide? Can Layo two and Rebeker Whiting? How many crosses can they get in? Can we get combinations with new Who on the left. But for me, on a day like this, it's about how many crosses we get in Sapure numbers game because Freddie's gonna be on plan on that front edge.

He's gonna want to score. We got to support in the midfield, but Freddie's playing up top by himself, so get we gotta get crossing him. To me, I think what Marcus said. I also want to see the intensity, right because last game they played against the Timbers, they were winning one zero and they ended up losing for one. Right, So to me is how to close that a game? They have to be intense, the intensity in the ninety minutes, right, high pressure, winning the midfield

and obviously scoring the OLiS and the apport geese they happen. I mean, it's like you know, we've we've heard there for years, giving your full ninety, right, it's gonna take a full ninety today, especially on a daylight today. And you could hear the crowd. It's like it's a full house today. It's a it's awesome. I got already got already got goose

bumps. Yeah, it's just amazing. Boom, boom, clap. Forty two thousand people roughly here, full crowd for Sounders, Timbers, Sounders in the Pruce League, Kid Timbers in their red It looks like Red on Red Tonight today here at Looming Field, this will be a very fun one. Here we go Sounders, Timbers. We'll step aside Danny Jackson, Steve Zakwani, Michelle Ludcuck. They'll have the call for the one hundred and eighteenth edition

of Seattle Parland. Next on Sports Radio ninety three point three JJRFM. You've been listening to the Providence Swedish premad show Sounders FC. Sucker is brought to you by Gallagher Benefits and HR Consulting helping businesses, communities and people face their futures with confidence, and by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Don't Go Anywhere kick Off is next. Welcome to Sounders FCA Soccer

Today from the Emerald Queen Casino Bitch at lumin Field. Your Seattle Sounders FC faced the Portland Timbers. Sounders FCA Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC and by bud Light. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy, Please enjoy responsibly. Now time for Sounders fcsucker. Good Saturday afternoon from a sun drenched EQC Pitch at Luman Field, where your sound is take on Western Conference rival and arch enemy, the Portland Timbers.

After a thumping for one win against the Sounders back when April fifteenth, the Timbers thought they had ignited that flailing start to the season, but only two wins from the last seven, the Timbers come into this game seeking a jump stock to that twenty twenty three campaign. Once again, for the Sounders, this game comes at a perfect time when a strong result against their greatest

foe steadies the ship over current rocky waters. Ran Schmitzer reminded his team in no uncertain terms that this is the biggest game on the calendar and a derby unlike any other. It's a picture perfect afternoon in the Pacific Northwest, and the stages set a rivalry dating back to nineteen seventy five, one hundred and eighteenth edition of this great game. It's good versus Evil, It's Sounders versus Timbers. As weekend going here, Sounders attacking the goal to our left to

the north Enders. The ball goes up challenged by Cody Baker and Read Baker Whiting. Sounders in their Bruce Lee jerseys of red shirts, black shorts and black socks, and the Timbers in their Rose City change of pink shirts with crimson roses on the shirts, white shorts and pink socks. So Steve, as we get going here, the atmosphere feels something very different today. What does the team have to do to get settled? Yeah, I think you need to use that your advantage. You know, you can feel the energy

around the stadium or the concerts happening. No longer's a doubleheaded game knowing who wasn't town. Yes, understand the occasion. Don't deny yourself that this one is a bit bigger, it means more. At the same time, it still is a ninety minute football game. It's what you do every week.

It's about tactics, it's about doing things right and more important today, it's also about desire or goes through Freddy Montero top of the eighteen yard books, slide tackle from McGrath goes out of bounce for a Sounders throwing deep on the near side the left knew who twelve yards from the corner, flag ball in his hand, chewing support towards the corner Flagers, Montera makes his move ball short into Ladera back to new who challenge world by Moreno and it's Boiland to

clear their lines and parade us well stepped in by Gamar, won by Knew who the Sounders pick up possession again. So let's get take a look at that delta starting eleven for your Sounders Frying gold a back four of Cody Baker on the right, Gamar Reagan Knew who shall Paula back in the lineup today after a suspension in midweek alongside Albert Rosneck and attack him three of Reid Baker Whiting on the right, Ladero and the ten Leo Jo on the left and

Freddie Montero plays as the number nine. Pouland have the ball in the hands of Miller, throws it down the line is near side the right headed by Reagan, picked up by pauland and then the sound has come away with new slashes the ballbon deflected wins it again new ball at his feet. This the left referee gives a free kick. So Steve, what do you make of this line up for the Sounds? A couple of changes, some young kids

on the right hand side, obviously Alex Roldan getting suspended. Yeah, yeah, I think One of the things that stands out right away is that branch Methis put a lot of trust into his youth movement. You have coldy Bacon and bread Baker Whiting on the right hand side. Not a lot of experience, but sometimes you don't need that. The court has taken a chance he else to under pitch. You're looking at someone at l two pennies, third

game in a week. Can he stay consistent? And of course Freddy Montero, a player who knows all about this Ramberry slide up top and on the bench pressa Rodan and Rowl wed Ad aren't there if needed. That's a huge plus for the Sounds. Ball in the possession this near side the right with Miller steps it from Oscarros on the bench. Started almost every game for the Timbers this season. Goal the fourth goal for the sound for Timbers against the

Sounders back on April fifteenth. As the ball goes back to either shitch it all those long game mark challenges off side by this is a refue Michelle. We're gonna throw it down to you. Absolutely, Hi, Danny, Hi, Steve, an amazing atmosphere down here on the pitch. I have to say this has got to be the best crowd and energy and vibe of a

Sounders match yet this season. And adding to that was the message in the south end of the CDUM before kickoff thanks to the ECS, they had a sign that said let Legacy light the Way, which just echoes the message that Brian Schmester told me was the focus since Wednesday with his team of just really talking about the importance of this rivalry, the history of this rivalry, talking about the USL and n A s L days, Roger Loovek and Nate Jopqua,

things that both you two know very very well of this rivalry, and really instilling back that fire of we need to beat Portland and we need to do that today. Thanks Michelle. Yeah, definitely, set just gets out of pressure for both Moreno and Nie Gooda. I managed to find Yamo not sit long towards Reet Baker Whiting head of one by Poland sound as pick it up, dropped off by Banker whitingham Ble Poland free kick sounded, So let's

give you that Poland lineup. Seva Gitching Goala back for Milla, super Rich mcgua and Bravo Diego Chara and parade US in the middle of the field, an attacking three of Parino, a Vando Squire and Nise Goda as a number nine up front. A couple of changes as well for sabaas Bully who started many games in the last month, takes a seat on the bench, as does Mosca. Is mentioned the right back who scored that fourth goal down at Providence Park in April as a sound has pick it up this nearside the left

with new room to rusneck the combination off Moreino throwing for the soundess. Just watching here early on for the sound as they're keeping Holdy Baker extremely wide on the right hand side, and it really is a copy and paste of what they expect from Alex roll done and again that those are big shoes to field. At this point act Rodne has really established himself as a genuine threatening the final third week the service, so big shoes for Baker to field and a

read Baker wine and is tucking inside. So it's gonna be very important for Cody Baker, yes, to stay wide, but because the tim was a so potty transition, he has to get back and connected the bat for when the sounders used the boards and one to watch for has a game developed well. His Baker plays the ball in nicely to Montera cut out by mcgra It's gonna be a throwing for the sound as deep on their right hand side, the fast side, ten yards from the corner flag. As you mentioned,

Cody Baker up taking the throwing organizing as Jackson Reagan trots up. Is going to be an option here for a long throw from Cody Baker six foot two, red Baker whites and playing that advanced right midfield position. Four goes in towards Reagan bounces once collected by Evasitch in the Poland golf as he knocks the ball long and early as JP back with knees Goda ball bounces games back there to clean things up, collected by knew who who skips by Moreno's I'm sure

he wants to do that? Is he the pockets picked by a bander cleared adventure by the Sounders. Nice play by Rsnagobra's shoulder finds Nicoladero has got some space to move into down the left hand side. Foul by Chara and is that going to be a typical yellow card by Diego Chara? Yes, it

is early yellow card in the seventh minute. Chara a mainstay in this line up since two thou eleven, three hundred and fifty three games coming into this Portland Timbers matchup in MLS and an early yellow card to Chara and two things here that was brilliant by Nicoladero. He knew he didn't have the legs on Chara long Tom, He just got his body in front at the right moment and Chara had to bring him down. But now for the way Chara plays,

he has got to be very careful for eighty plus minutes. This may just take away some of his usual aggression. That's a massive, massive moment in this game because Yego Chara, he is centrally to everything Portland Gus for the last ten years, beat and beyond on a yellow card for eighty plus minutes with Nadero, Torpolo and Russknack buzzing around, He's got Billy's best behavior.

And then, of course, just to match up the Poland Timbers rivalry and emotion as well, Nina bite in the midfield, especially in these games. As JP lines it up this near side the left flicks in the back post where Jackson Reagan is challenges heads it across flick by Yamar top of the box. Ladero challenged by Portland, but the Sounders have come away with it. Leo Chu this near side the left left corner of the box to JP shove with his feet, clips the ball in, finds Red the bag away

shut by zu Bridge. Arms go up, nothing given by the referee. There's a clumsy challenge by Zurbridge. Hundred Baker whitzing. See the referee puts his hand to his ear. Nothing so far that Stephan Fry has the ball in the back and it's one of those where probably he's not going to be given, but you've seen them absolutely give. And then he's gotta be very

careful as ubers because there's no way you can wind up board. He does go through read Baker White Tea. It is a foul, but referees tend to want a lot more contact before they put the mouth to wid the pok penalty kick. But this game start off at a very good pace. No chances on vol yet, but both teams really playing off of this energy and it's just a different sense of occasion in this building today. It's a bound Steve Right finding the tempo and the breathing of this emotion in the crowd and

this buzz and also just settling down and make sure you play. You get yeah, absolutely, and that's where your experienced players then adare rolls, the Roostnecks that John Parlos won Tero as well, Baby Cup Uber important because they know what this is. They've been around the block, Yannistan, You're gonna have ups and down, ebbs and flows in the game, and you can't overreact and get too emotional, but some of the emotion definitely helps you play.

On the egg. Referee Allen Chapman in the middle today deck Town and all bright yellow black shorts, gives a foul to Portland as Diego charge stepped into JP high bowed by JP middle of the fields. Chara, as we mentioned on an early Yellow Cards, wins a tenth minute here on nine to three point three KGr FM as Chara and knocks the ball log picked up by Reid Baker White in middle of the field, collected by JP, switched to the point of attack. Digo vaters near side the left runs out of bounds.

There's good The Leo Chu third game in a week for the Sounders, started off strong last week You're Red Bulls. Good grind out win down to ten men in the final fifteen minutes, got a one nil win, and then an extremely disappointing loss in middle of the week against Western Conference rival San Jose. They enjoyed sixty three percent possession, twenty three shots, eight shots on goal, ten corners and couldn't find a breakthrough and lost like a one

nil. So the Sounders looking to bounce back here against their arch enemy the Timbers. As the ball rolls out of bounds, this near side the ball and Timbers right, but Brainer, it's gonna let it go and Miller's gonna walk over to it. And you can see how Annie Stevens about the game management for Poland there's no immediate rush to get to the ball. They understand that Sounders are gonna come out with tempo. They're gonna try and kill that.

Yeah, the Porner Timbers are absolutely happy to seed possession to the Sounders today and then to make it a game about transitions and set pieces. So any throw in any corner, any free kick, they're gonna walk slow to the ball. They're gonna try to dump long boards over the top whereby the free kick is in their own half water sounder is half ball. The two down the left hand side got some space, gets towards the end like cuts

it back well defended by the Portland Timbers. They were superchos slid in, but Leo Chu showed his speed. He got the better of Miller on the right hand sides. Corner kick sounders. Yeah, I did my usual ritual and sat by a cult branch metzer before the game during the warm ups, and we both agreed that on ways the night, one of the bright spots was how dangerous Leo Chuo was. The challenge now is can you do it again two days to day two and a half days they are That's the measure.

A good playoff being consistent every game. It's gonna be rushing now this near side the left, it's gonna be an instigate corner kick with his right foot whipped and with pace, goes high and long, bounces once and runs out of bounce. JP trying to collect it didn't Gold kick Timbers. As we are in the twelve minute here at EQUC Pitcher looming field, Sounders nail

Timbers nil. A really good tempo to start this game. The sounder is coming out of the blocks quickly as he's set up just outside the chen yard

box. High press from the Sounders as Eva Chinch and the Poland gold motions is two center backs to move up the field and he's going to knock it long and the Sounders with their height and Yamar and Reagan, you feel comfortable with the ball up in the air as it goes long down the middle, Reagan challenges good solid header by Reagan force a McGrath Christian header comes out cli near sight, not challenged by the sound as Moreno is able to pick it

up, skips by new for split second, all finds itself to Chara and all the way back to super Rich. But charity is definitely something we talked about a lot in this league between these two teams in regular season fourteen, fourteen and seven, So five hundred between these two teams. Fifty five goals but Poland fifty six goals for the Sounders. Can't get much closer than that,

So certainly a matchup that often lives up to the reputation. As Portland picked up the ball with a vander the signing in the offseason as a solid start to his year as he got fit and healthy ball near site of Moreno skips inside, challenge well by the sounders and release a Leo Chu on this left hand side, challenged by Chara double teams. As Paraders comes across,

wins the ball, it rolls out of bounds, went past savareys. They stood up decked out in a gray suit on this warm Pacific northwest day. As New walks over, had a good start, had a good solid game and then last out and coming back from millis of course Cody Baker, who is filled in so well for New on the left back, fills in today Alex Roldan on the right back position due to the yellow card accumulation. As New skips inside, comes to Rosnack, back to New who sounds plexing the

ball. Pressure for Morainer releasing the ball eventually to Rosnack needs to find his feet, gets caught in the middle of the field. Defanded. Now got some space to run into as he gave our challenges ball into the middle and it's challenged by Cody Baker. Will played by Cody Baker came back on a

squier and we talked about the defensive qualities Steve of Cody Baker. Shody right there and Brian Schmiza's exact word for me kickoff was I think Cody Baker could match up well against a Sprea. And we know all about Sprea here. He has heartness sounders many times before in the pass and on that occasion he was in he had advantage. So give lots of credit to Cody Baker for

sticking with it. And in the end he just put enough pressure. Didn't make a tack called no challenge, but there was enough pressure there just to force us pre into a heavy touch. But we've seen the danger the sound has been build up. The Timos just want to get wind the board around the halfway land in midfield and then they're after the racist. They'll sit in an old block once they win it. They want to get into the sound as half as quickly as possible, and that today is what we've got to

be aware of. We'll certainly a spree is going to go down at Folklore and Portland after the overhead kick back on April fifteenth, who was Pauland's first goal of four got that game going, got the crowd into it, and who could certainly feel as we're in that stade in that shift of emotion and expectation from that ball went in the back of the net as Fry knocks it long to Montera. Been a look quiet so far twice to collect the ball.

It's offside. It's gonna come back to be a Poorland free kick middle of the field. The sound as FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC rains nil nil here and he'd see pitch looming field as Bravo skips inside past Reed Baker Whites inflicted the outside his foot giving away Baker Whites. It comes away, it turns the corner failed by Bravo.

Three kick Sounders and certainly Steve for those young kids, couldy Baker on the right hand side in front Reed Baker Whites and not a ton of experience, big game for those players to play on the same side. It's a big cord. It's not to be saying. I think Brash means up maybe had other options. Yes, in some ways his arms and they have been

tied. But for the call to put his trust, he just tells you that Baker has been that good when he has played and has a lot of trust and Red Baker Whites up as well, so this will do them good for confidence and experience. But it is a big, big quardba brash mession Sounders and possession and attacking third of the field cleared by zoop rich out for a throne for the Sounders. Sounders enjoying sixty seven percent possession in these early

minutes of the game, dominating Portland in that category. But we'll look. I've had a couple of chances as Steve's mentioned in transition and its need to be sharp on the ball, especially in the middle of the field, as Jackson Reagan this near side cleects the ball across the yamar as a shift from left to middle all the way to the right. Cody Baker, hugging that far right touchline, comes inside plays the ball to Ladak, given away want

well by Paradus, and then Bravo finds moreno is holding. In transition, Gamar plects him well, but his screa picks it off. Gaymar's toe finds LEAs Go to top of the box twenty yards out Go sit through the legs of Jackson Reagan scoots across the Paradus fat side the left to a sprea top left corner of the box comes back to Chara middle of the field, thirty five yards from gold As a Sounders getting eleven men behind the ball stuff out

the danger. There is a soft ball by Bravo's gonna roll over slowly for a sound As goal kick. But it's clear as day what the danger is. I mean, there are a fantastic team in transition, important timbers and a couple of times out. That's the bad side of having Cody Baker play so high. Because he was so high on that plane, he gamer made one mistake and then Timmis had a gaping hold on the Sounders right side. If it's a better pass from this grader, the timers are in a bad

board pails the Sounders out. So I would like to see Cody Baker air on the side of yes, the aggressive, but pick and choose your moments because that distance with gamers like forty fifty yards, you can't recover that, and the sound is more a little bit fortunate that Portland's sympathy lacks some quality.

In the final third, the board goes along with Stephen Fry towards Montera flicked cleared by Zuperich as it bounces in the sound As half of the field, flicked by a Spria, laid all the way back to Stephan fry wearing all blue Today's He launched the ball forward, not messing around Freddy Montero challenging wins the head cushioned across the Leo choose stepped well by Miller, goes long, miss can misjudge by Jack's ring and then then Yama back Steven fry Michelle,

We're gonna throw it down to you. Yes, Steven Frye hasn't been tested too much yet today and no shots on goal yet, but we all know how amazing stuff and fry and instrumental he's been to the Sounders this season. Currently leads the league with eight shutouts. He has ninety nine in MLS regular season play and is just one shy of joining the one hundred club with Nick Romando and Kevin Herman. Thanks Michelle, Leo choots toward the end line,

skips by Miller, then it goes to ground. Leo chie goes down, shout for pek, nothing given by the referee. JP collects it off the toe of Marino on this left side channel his nearside poland come away that fell by look Garron, I found a green kick for Poland. Is Michelle mentioned. Frye also fourth time fourth all time in MLS for saves. He surpassed Miola and then Bush This season certainly a solid starts the campaign for Stephan fry as he continues to play at such a high level for this club both

on and off the fie. Let's pauland pick up a session with Paradus middle of the field, outside the foot into Nigda pocket picked by Rusnak, skipped by and away and find Freddy Montera back to Gold sitting in that pocket as we expect them to play and Steve it's what you expect from Montera. But then it's about how did this to sound a stretch balland over the top.

And that's an issue, right because normally you're saying Jordan on one wing, Leal two on the other wing, or came we're getting a threat from both sides. It's gonna be Leo two who has the ball beyond Montero because Coldy Baker has a tough ask to ask the right back to runt of that way when Red Baker Whiting is tucking inside, so you can't ask Freddy Montero.

Listen, we know you had to come people. We have Nico here Jar part of Rusnack maybe engaged the two Sounder backs a bit more than usual, and I think Freddy's good enough to realize that and find a balance between going both poland with the ball fast side the left comes inside of paradus thirty five yards and gold square ball to a vander Miller go on the outside, try

to support challenge by JP. It's a Bander strikes the ball, slice shot is gonna just about go out for a goal kick, Yes it does not a throw in beg gold kick for the Sounders remains nil nil here twenty first minute e QUC pitch lubin field ninety three point three KGr FM. As a Sounder switch it from center to write to Cody Baker brings it down inside to ladera middle of the field outside. The foot looks up to be offside.

It is. It's as a referee on the far side puts it up for Rebaker waiting offside free kick Portland. But this copyrighted audiocastle Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer Steve nil nil in the twenty second minute. Branch meets are happy

with what the team has done so far. I mean, I think golf quarters will be ready to be happy, and even the fans will be not It's not often a game goes this deep with no shots from either side and it still feels incompetant needs go to the top of the box, slice clearance by JP. It's going to roll out of bounds for a Portland corner kick this near site their right hand side. If it's scrappy by the Sounders trying to be cleared by JP, sliced office Shin and now pauland are going to

send their big men up. Yeah. And I think these are the moments in this game against Timbers. It's the set pieces because through the run of playing twenty two minutes, neither team's creating any good chances. But now set pieces become extra extra important. And for a sound is here just being aware of the players coming up sticking with runners. It's about desire as much as anything. When you get in Sandard box in this moment, Evander right foot,

it's gonna been outstreting corner kick. Big men are up longer six yard box gets flicked to the near corner, headed over gold kick Sounders step and Fry has been makes a big saves in games with a past all the quiet so far put the Sounders want eight clean sheets on the season. Six clean sheets at home. Back for has been solid so far they have been I think both times to be happy. You know the Sounds haven't threatened that the port and timbers back land too much evil. At some point this game will

break open. I think the Bill off nerves players are playing fruit and things of that nature ain't can happen even at this level with very very seasoned throws. It's been still a compelling game. You've seen a technical battle there, bill of a chess match. But which team is going to take the initiative

to start creating and breaking lines and gains. In the final, foot ball gets diagnosed Switcher and go to World read by game Arm but he falls over, picks up by Esprea, skips by Cody Baker but he doesn't but it Baker defense World gets nudged off the ball by a Sprea bigger body cuts it back top of the box, rolled across the red Baker white and there's nothing more than Claire's lines safety first cut ball comes back Jackson Reagan cushion ball to

Ladera challenged by Char a free kick. Monsterra came here across Chester reminding the referee that Char was on a yellow card. He was late, think Steve, if that was his first challenge, would that be a yellow card? I could possibly see that, but I'm okay, that wouldn't refere You know, as much as I love the sounds to get an advantage, day Char SOLIDERO Day caused it for a board. He's a little bit late. Nothing malicious in him. I would not like to see two yellow cars in.

It came in his magnagude for those two challenges. Now Hatchar had not been booked and the yellow comes out. I also don't have any complaints. Good referee in my opinion, you have Alan Chapman, experienced referee. Let's it go, but he's on a fin line. Now you do that again and you're off. Yes, And especially with the pace of the game so far,

I'll already pick up as the game goes along. When you think about the rue d'azes that come off the bench, the role dance can come off the bench and there pace as we've shown in the last game when the Sounders gave up that goal in the forty eighth minute, the outshot sent I'd say

eighteen shots to nothing. Because certainly it's about starting well. The sound has certainly finished well in terms of pressure on the other team as a sound as collect possession, JP dropping in to get it off Jackson Reagan, nothing forward, all unhappy, just to to allow the Sounds to build up somewhat, and then they'll press in the middle of the field as they do now fall into pressnet pressure from greatest boxing down the line. It's going to be a

paul and throwing just as they as we talked about. It's allowing the Sounders to play into the middle third of the field and then press hard, win the ball and move in transition. The Sounders fans, the next fifty years start now. Now office wide left poition to parade us to needs go to back to goal challenge well by knew who and the Sounder

is forced to Poland all the way back to Eva chich In. The Poland goal to challenged by Montero sliced away by Eva chich all bounces, the new has got a long way to let it go a bounce. He has to slide and put it out for Poland throwing. You see that's about winning your initial header. Yeah, because the fields just too big and too slow at times the other roll out of bounds. Yeah. Absolutely, And it's very clear when the Timbers want to do I mean death, no worries whatsoever going

direct. They've done a very good job and I think, to be honest, the Timbers will be slightly happy than the Sounders be Sounders are the whole team, and we've yet to test the goalkeeper. Twenty seven minutes in, you've not tested the goalkeeper. That won't peace Bran Schmetza and the Timbers. I've had more of the dangerous attacks, so right now was just itching more towards the Timbers. But I still lots to play for. The wall comes

in long for Miller drops the space for is see late by Fry. He went down to his left eventually collected it comfortably, but for a split second he was blinded, but collect the ball in his hands and pushes his team out. As Steve mentioned, sixty three percent possession so far. If we get into the twenty seventh minute, no shot song goal to something Brian Schmittz is gonna have to address. As we get into halftime and into the second

half, nil nil. Here at EQC Pitch, Looming Field, Sounders Timbers, biggest game of the year, and the Crown have turned up to support their home team, Timbers away fans sitting in that northeast corner high up. As the Sounders win the ball and it's new this near side the left cuts by Squeer comes inside to JP to Russneck used to play quickly and he does.

This is where the Timbers are gonna try and pick the pocket. The sounders read Baker whites and gets bungled over by Moreno, who's shifted across to that left hand side. Now it's like switch of a square Mariner. Sounders have it fast side the right with Montera to Cody Baker ten yards from the end, like Good defended by Bravo, lunched after the ball is Cody Baker goes out for Paul and gold kick remains no go. I just think Danny

was unfolding now the game. Sound has gotta find the handle because it's beginning to buy pass and leave on the Derrek for example, he's not not on the game on the board enough. John Pardo's not got on the board enough. Right now, it looks more like a game than the Portland timers would have wanted. A bit scrappy, a bit physical, lots of vertical boards that direct a little bit more than usual. The sounder has gonna get a foot on the board and start to slow down and to get their key guys

involved. The Darrow has not found the board in dangerous areas. Leo Chu has had a couple of moments, but not like usual. And we're talking thirty minutes in and not just no shots on the board, no shots and that is very unlike the Sounders who just crowd behind them with the rivalry, with the recent results, I think now he's the time that Prince smiself can ask, but just a little bit more. Probably team well, as you mentioned Leo two ten touches on the game so far, Freddy monteras six.

There was a home team playing in a big game like this, you need your attacking players to get involved, and I think the lack of touches across the field and certainly the attacking thirdies showcased on the fact that the Sounders have

not tested Eva chitch Yes yet. In the Portland Timbers goal, good possession by the Sounder sixty three percent, but it's about putting possession into chances on goal, and certainly with a crowd like we have today filling the stands from bottom to top, Sounders of all look to try and find the opening goal. As we get into the thirtieth minute here nil nil Sounders to the right hand side of the Gamar crossing into Portland territory, out to Cody Baker hugging

the far right touchline, Dara back to JP. We're defending good patient defended by Portland as a bank of four defenders top of the box, bank of formid field players in front as Yama has an advanced position. Ball comes into Ladero, pocket picked. Shara comes away with Paraders to Evander. Four goals on the ear for Avander so far to a Sprea goes around new Evander has a little of the field skipped by JP, but collects the ball to Brazilians

against each other. JP comes away with it, plays it quickly. Sounders have it with Rosne to Ladera's near side. The left cuts away from pressure from a. Sprea looks past Chu sitting on this vast sideline. It's comes inside now too. To find the ball, JP no real options, has to go square short to Ladera, right in front of Geosavarezi as he shouts and screams to his team to organize defensible. JP square to Rusna. Got some space now who switched the ball? Plays it in short to Montera.

Turns shot first shot of the game, but nothing to trouble even Stay rolls over the end line gold cape timbers remains no Nils seems like want it now, but that's bad from the Sounders a little more methodical, a couple of short, intricate passes and a bigger one to open up the play and listen, Freddie could have played a white to Cody Baker read Baker waiting. I have no issue there with Freddie Montero turning and striking aboard from twenty five yards

out. Now he's great a strike, but this is a player who's done that so many times over his career. And the sound Is need to start testing the timber's back line and goalkeep up. So no issue with that, but it was a much better secrets of playing more want branch Metza and he's coaching staff will want to see from the team as its half A croaches the final fifty minutes or so, up Bridge goes long, Will jacks Reagan cushion

edit back into the midfield. JP picks it up, is able to turn the sound Is half of the field, finds that pocket where Ladero's pocket picked again by the Paraders. Gond be a foul given by the referee and with that we're gonna throw it down to Michelle Lucker. Yes, it was great to see Sounders finally get a shot in this game. Coming in the thirty first minute, and of course it comes by Freddy Montero is getting his third

start of the season. Brian Schmitzer spoke to us during our production meeting yesterday about what led to starting Freddie tonight, and obviously it's it's fresh legs, it's three match week, but also he said he wanted some life, he wanted some spark, and he thinks that Freddie could provide that. Especially knowing the history of the rivalry. We have to remember that Freddie scored the first two goals in the most lopsided blowout in history of the Star Beat six two

back on August fifteenth, twenty twenty one. Yep, two goals of his seven goals against Boland scored on that day. Seventeen nine goals on his career with the Sounders leads all time Sounder scorers. Ride sitting on the bench only four behind. Let's poland have it with a Vanda farside the left backs to Rabo it's a paradess picks it up skipps by JP. Foul given by the referee twenty five to thirty yards from the end line. Morland him is left

channel the life stuck out by JP foul given. These are the dangerous areas. Steve absolutely Poland really really pride himself on set pieces, trying to make the game about that revention, transition and set pieces. And there's another example here for them, another opportunity on their left hand side, the Sounds holding white a high line. The tim is sending everyone forward. The last man backs Jago Charan. He's only forty yards from the gold and so putting a

lot of stucket to the set piece. Zuperrich back post, nobody marking, wide opening. Super Rich flicked in by his spear and it's just over the bar. Gold kick sounders and sister referee puts his flag up, but I don't know if abandoned it. Seen zuper Rich. He was wide open on that bad post. But goldkick sounders and that's the danger. And listen, a spirit maybe goals a touch early, which builds are sounders out. We'll

get to see a replay here. Yes, the spires offside. He's the only one, but they had two or three runners there, the timbers that the sounders really didn't pick up. I guess the sound has had a lot of faith in their line and the integrity of that high line. It did work out on this occasion, but a little reminder of the SETI Stangard the

Timbers possess free kick to the Timbers flicked off the arm of JP. Certainly in the last game against San Jose, the goal that was conceded in the fourteenth minute to Bobose was off a corner kick, initial header on the front post and Bobocas skipped by new who unchallenged from two yards put in the back

of the net and that became the game winner. So Sounders no, and I'm sure they'll be reminded the coaching staff to be focused on these free kicks as another one comes now forty yards from the endline, is near side the right channel. The Vander clips it to that back post. Super rich challenges headed clear well by Cody Baker's shot by Bravo high and wide gold kick.

Sounders remains no nil And I know the Sounders have at one shot of gold and tim has SUSS four, but they'd not be quantity looks nice three. I had one inside of box that's definite. Fry easily gathered. Both teams really struggled to create good golst great chances. It's the nature of a derby rivalry game. It could be tight Cajun shot by a square speculative goes wide,

another gold kick for the Sounders. But June is Pride Month. Support LGBTQ plus owned small businesses joined the month of June for a chance to win Sounders prizes. Visit intentionalist dot com to find a business near You should get into the thirty fifth minute here at EQUC Pitch, lumin Field ninety three point three kjr FM Sounders nil Timbers nil. Marquee game in MLS this weekend and

often a Marquee game across the entire season. Is lumin Field filled with Sounders fans and the splattering of Timbers fans as well, which always adds to this rivalry and the atmosphere. So when the Sounders fans travel five hundred plus deep down a prominence park, he always creates a racket underneath those rafters. As the ball goes long by Friday rolls out of bounce, It's gonna be a

throwing for the Timbers. It's near side, the right hand side. Eric Miller that right hand side, matching up against two Mosca scored That goal has been an ever present in the timbers wouldn't make with some of the changes that Dio samoas Is made. Yeah, I think samareis he definitely watched what the sounds fearing, and is he knows that if the game's opened in the second half and he wants a more attacking right back, he can bring moscaa on.

But defensively Two probably would have had Masquera's number minutes on a decent job. Two had an early burst first ten minutes or so, a couple of decent runs. Has been really quiet as this game's gone on, and he's been swinging more towards the timber's direction, and that's the reason why Miller is

there. More of the defender will stay home a bit more joined the attack when he can, but not as adventures as Mascarero, because a very concern with the space in behind that he or two would exploit ball with a spree back to goal twenty five yards from goal, flicks off, Eric Miller goes quickly down the line and assistant referee gives it the other way. It's gonna be a Poland Timbers throwne twenty five yards from the corner flag this near side

the right and you can see Brian Schmitzer looking an see standing there. Leany eats his chair, all the other staff sat down. Brian Schmitzer, he's got a table to tap with a pen. He will be doing that right now. Yeah, what's frustrated I think by the manner of this game so far. Ball goes in long by the Timbers from a throne with char A top of the box, back to a Vander challenged by his countryman JP, back to Gold challenges his JP wins the ball, lead to Leo Chewing,

another fellow Brazilian flix off JP. He's gonna pick the baller. So I was interesting to see the Timbers players drop back and then referee gives it the other way. Timbers the throne. It's near side the right with Eric Miller right in front of the sounder's bench. He goes short to a Vander. Look given go you know two switched off for a split second to the box, goes around the corner to a square, challenges new free kickuler Sounders deep

on the sounders left hand side. Remains none and I think twenty minutes or so Brian Smiters would have been happy. I think the last eighteen minutes it's definitely gone. The Timpers way and Brian Schmidz and he's buff. Don't be frustrated. The good thing is that our solutions under bench that could come on as soon as half time. We'll see how it shake sound his final eight nine minutes or so. But you have ruined the as you have Fresher Rodan

after what seems like forever coming back as well. But if something has to be unlock for the Sounders, Lado monteroly On true the red Baker White in the attacking card just really have not found the game. I need to try and get around the border a bit more and start to create, because right now the game is shaping up really well for the corner Timbers, the free kickler Timbers. It was JP on Paradis JP. Of course, six yellow cards in the season, one red miss the game against San Jose due to

the red card in the second half against New York. Back on the field today alongside ros Neck. Certainly, as this game continues to motion forward, Sounder side to feel a little frustration in the manner in which this game is going. Red Baker Whiting being very quiet on the right hand side, not his fault, not getting any service so far in saying with Montero. As he tries to lead this line, Eva Chish in the goal knocks his long center to the left hand side, won by Cody Baker, dropped back by

JP to Yamar. Pressure by Paradis. You can knock it along to Red Baker Whiting who lets it run. Bravo lets it go as to Sound his throwing comes inside quickly after Montero. This time it's going to be a timbers thrown on the fast side the left. As Bravo walks over slowly remains nill now and a little bit frustrating they see for any Montero the ball comes off him, goes on the outside, it heads down. Have been a little

bit of body language from the sounds, just joint frustration. The darrel's the same and job Parlow and he said these moments where again you have to really rely of your veteran players. If you're on a Sounders because you beat a Spark and New yes, be the first man. Why you should not be trying to gamble three players. It's just encouraging pressure. The sound is falling

into the timbers track. We've not seen one board from Sounders over the top to force the Timer's back line to run towards the own gold face, the own goalkeeper as the lightning up and playing the timis harm It's been very predictable, a slow approach. As the game has worn on, the Sounders really

haven't shown a variety of ideas. And I would be shocked if we do not see Christian Rondan if not at halftime by the fiftieth fifty fifth minute funnels shortly by rail Rudios will certainly Shara avandon the Paraders and somewhat Boston midfield. So far in this game, possession might not show it, but those critical moments when the Sounders that possession, it's border of Nittick off the feet of

the Sounders players and stop those at Texas JP. Middle of the field goes to Montera drop deep in that number ten spot alongside Ladera nothing forward for the Sounders. When it does go white, Slamm's read Baker Whiting pocket picked by Bravo, Well you would want to be one defended by the Poland left back and then he throws Baker Whiting over and there you go. Read it.

Just run away and let it be. Sounders is gonna have all on the deck goes White quickly Kody Baker supporting read Baker Whiting flixs the board to the bad post. Easy for Eva Chinch not the ball that the Sounders or Baker Whitey wanted, allows Poland to get set again. Remains no nil and this is where you got you gotta steal the frustration, but not play it twin and Redbaker white in there. He had one option in the box was Montero, who wasn't really making a run. Eiva and your point in a box.

Maybe in that situation, just find another past, keep the port bowing until the better situation of his JP comes away. That skips by Bravo goes over free kick for the Sounders hell Chapman's breath. This game well so far really kept out of it. It's always that the mostly charged game between these two rivals. Of course, thee hundred and eighteenth edition of this great game to Sounders have a free kick on the far side the right right channel in

sound Timber's territory. JP over the ball two steps back from the ball as he starts to move himself back, trying to look to knock the ball long. No, not the big men up front. Ball goes short to Rusnack back to JP as he knocks the ball down the line. Laderos shifted from middle to righte Howel's mcgrab nothing given by the referee. Sounds free kick ten yards from the far corner flag Cody Baker. Big throwers Cody Baker as Jackson

Reagan comes up again. We've seen that once already sit on top of the near corner of this six yard box. The ball comes in long, challenged by Jackson Reagan, clared eventually by Bravo only top of the box. Suit JPS shot blocked finds balls GP again headed the ball white to Cody Baker. Miscontrolled port touched by Baker and it's pauling now with Paraders come away with it. Good one touch passing of Vander goes some center to write the Sprier got

some space. New challenging thirty yards from Gold to Sprier. Why is it comes inside? It's one of the best one b one defenders in the league in NW who and Paul. They're gonna build out the back again with mcgrair. But Steven McGraw or Zubrich have not been tested over the top. They've not been turned if there's one vulnerabuilding up back for it's the lack of speed at times as they knock it long foult by Jackson, Reagan is going to be in offside given by the iss A referee. Yeah, and I think

absolutely right, Danny. But again that's the makeup of the team that branch Mess has gone with. Where Freddy Montero he's more comfortable coming towards the board away from Gold, back to Gold, playing sort of in a half nine and a half ten nine and a half position. Freddy Monterry, He's not gonna try to run him behind Drew so Havan. It's been a debt of

form the two center backs. They have not been tested and though the time of the things that halftime, the Colty staff will get together and start to really consider how they can make changes. Will goes from New all the way across the far side of the right to eat Baker. Whitey eventually brings it under control, goes inside to ladera right corner the box will reverse pass in behind clear by McGrath. Sounders throwing on the fast side the right five yards

from the corner flag will a bit of pressure on Eva Chitch's goal. Now as Baker wanders over ball in his hands. Forty fourth minute, Here the kuc pitch lubin field makes nil nil. A score update is presented by provident Swedish as both yaymar I see yaymar now. Top car of the box comes in Jackson, Bagan stays bat lets it bounce, new drops it all the way across the right hand side again to Cody. Baker comes thank giving away cheaply again by Baker, and Timbers are going to come away with a vander

good quality touch. Flicked it over Ladera maintained control pressure from the Sounders. This is where the Sounders they're gonna press. They're gonna win it, because here comes the Septembers and transition ball into the middle, well defended by JP sliding tackle to win the ball rusnack out to the right hand side. Baker whites in some space some time comes inside, finds Montero and number nine thirty five yards from gold. Ladera left hand side clips off a sphere doing his

defensive duties. Comes away that flicks off a sphere. Eventually it's gonna be a Sounders throwing this near side the Sounders left. There's a final whistle, no extra mile stoppash time there steep whether you pretty be mused, Yeah, I mean it flew by and you're thinking not too many stoppages, not much gold action. Still, it feels like a quite compelling game that something's about

to happen. And I do think branch Meds are just watching him walk off your head down deep in thought, and I know what's on his mind. Christian Road, Christian Road when in maybe a halftime, maybe you off top, but a sound is need and it will pick me up in your offensive pop the game and branch Mesla does have the options on the bench. Well, we said only two shots and golden net first half, no shots on target. We'll take a break and Jackson and the team will be back to

break it all down at halftime. Here at EQUC Pitch of lumin Field. Sounds nil, Timbers nil. This is your home for Sounders FC Soccer Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FMC. You're Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers even at zero zero. Welcome into the halftime show. Jackson Felts Diego audio A, Marcus Hannaman, Pete viewing here in the booth to break out down this first half. Diego A start with you. You know Portland had their chances, it's still staying in one zero. How

are you feeling right now? I mean I'm not I would say considering the circumstances, I could say positive because of the chances as you mentioned that Portland created, right, but I want to see more from the Sounders, right. I didn't see that intensity, especially to win the ball. There were some in precisions, especially losing the ball in the transition, and to me, that's that's really dangerous when you have a Portland teamers that they can capitalize

in any opportunity. Right, Yeah, one Portland did look more dangerous. But Steph and Pride hasn't even broke a sweat yet either, So there was they had you know, one chance where step just put off. I can't remember who it was upfront, but you know it did a great job and then you know, I hit it over. It was a little I didn't breathe for a couple of seconds, but after that, you know, they didn't have a lot, right, They were not creating tons of chances.

I do like the fact Lao Choo's putting them under some pressure, right. We saw a really early cross get in. It got blocked, but it's putting that that pressure on. We talked about and we knew this was going to be a difficult game with Portland and kind of KG and the Sounders were holding guys back that weren't you know, weren't sending a lot of guys forward because there they are worried about Portland on the counter attack and just wanted to

keep it to zero for this first half for sure. So I think it's job done. Freddie did a pretty good job up front in the in the first half. He did have one attempt at a shop that you know, I think he might want back, maybe play it wide, But other than that, I was I thought it was a good first half of the Sounders. I think that's a great point. I think Brian Schmutzer probably wanted to get through the first half at Zero's because he's got Rui D's Rui DS,

he's got rolled on. It was a bit disjointed, but you could you kind of have to expect that on the right side when you got two young kids, right Baker Whiting and Cody Baker. So I think Brian will be pleased that they're at Zeros. Didn't give anything away And to both of your points, the transition play Seadle has to stay home and avoid that and then restarts very important because we saw that with a spree on the header. So

yeah, one little unnervy spot that Steph hasn't had to do much. Certainly their goalkeeper hasn't had any work at all, so that second half it's kind of the tale of two halves. I'm sure they're ready getting ready for this one now. It should be mentioned also Diego Chara, the talented midfielder for Paul and Timbers, took a yellow card in the seventh minute. We've already seen that playing an effect on how he's playing this game. We'll continue to

see that in the second half as well well. Sounder fans bud Light was brewed to be a delicious and easy to drink beer. Bud Light, easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Welcome back to the halftime show. You're Seattle Sounders and poland Timbers even at zero right now. Well, this copyrighted audiocaster Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. Jackson Felts,

Diego Audio, Marcus Hannaman, Pete viewing here on the halftime show. So you look at the Sounders bench. It includes Javier Ariaga, a Bear, Callen Rowe, Stephen Cleveland at Trevian SUSA short term agreement there from Tacoma, Josh Atensio, Dylan Tevez, Rall, Ruy Diaz and back for the first time since a role eight, Christian rolled On also on the bench. Let's get to some keys for the second half. The second half, Diego, I'll start with you. Yeah, I think the branch Metzer on the Sounders.

Ethnically, it needs to need to start the second a half with more intensity. Knowing that also they have Rollridiz. He's the guy who scored last time they play against with the Timbers. He's gonna have some minutes today. I also want to see Greason Rolleda. As you mentioned, he hasn't played since April eight, but he's been crucial player for the team. I expect him to see and change the pace of the game. That also talking about the intensity I want to see and pressuring to win that ball. I think

recent Roland will be also a key player. And also want to see a better um control of the midfield because they're losing some unnecessary you know, passes and bowls that they need to to get back there. So well, it's one of the best benches I've seen in a long time. You've got with

roll Dan right, we've got that experience. We're probably gonna see him coming in for somebody in the midfield, depending on who's who's feeling it in their legs and with and then you look up top, you've got Ruy Diaz and hey Bear, you know it's a m We got some power up there. So are they gonna change early on? How quickly are gonna change? Freddie out? Are they going to switch tactics? Are they gonna be pushing for that win? It's gonna be It's gonna be interesting. But I do agree

with you Diego. We need more intensity, right, more crosses and but I think that was kind of the plan. We're just gonna play this first half to zero and kind of see how it goes. And now we're going south, We're going to our home home supporters in the south end. I think we're gonna definitely go for the win year in the second half. I'd like to see more from each side. Leo cho who got a couple of crosses in. But the right side it's been a little bit quiet, fair

enough, trying to keep a clean sheet. Restarts are very important. We saw Portland's most dangerous chants coming off a restart. So and then you know one thing, Freddy Montero did the pressed and he looked back to everybody behind him and he said, come on, let's go. So I'd like to see him. I understand why they did what they did in the first half, but when they do press as a group and get higher up, I

think it'll help Seattle pack in Portland in a little bit. To Marcus's point, I love it when we're going to the south end, Yeah, exactly. And there's an amazing crowded day. We got near forty two thousand people in the building. Don't have that exact number, but massive sections opening the

three hundred level. They're on the eastern side of the stadium. It's a beautiful day as we're here the doubleheader ol Rain hosting the Pearland Thorns at five pm after Sounders Timbers, we'll I'll be back for the postmatch show where hopefully we're talking about a big three points. But the second half of Sounders Timbers it's zero zero right now, how will it end? Danny Jackson, Steve Zakwanne, Michelle Ludgott on the sideline, the three of them will have the

second half of Sounders Timbers next. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Second half is next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to EQUC Pitch at Louman Field Sounders nil, Timbers nil after somewhat kg first half. Not much to speak over either goal, with goalkeepers relatively quiet as we get ready to kick off.

Here, the Sounders and the away kit that Bruce Lee kit red shirts, black shorts, black socks will be attacking the goal to our right the south end in this second half, and the Timbers and the Rose City change kit pink shirts with Crimson roses, white shorts and pink socks will be attacking the north end the goal to our left. As the coaching staff jog off the

field, Referee Alan Chapman ready to get us going. Certainly, Steve the sound is he'd have a bit more offensive five power than the attacking third is. Look, Darrow gets ready to go to Jackson Reagan and we're gonna go to Michelle Luca early in this second off. Michelle, you told to branch Metsa, Yes I did. He filled me in a bit on his message to the team at the halftime, and that it's a hard afternoon to play. It's warm, the turf is slow, and it's a crazy crowd in

a rivalry match. But the biggest thing that he said to his teammates was that they need to give it. They're all, especially these guys who have been playing and this is their third match in one week's time. Give it, they're all. And when they're guess he'll sub them out. Speaking of subs, he says, if this remains a stalemate, he might be making some changes a little bit sooner, as though here at the half there aren't

any. But I think the comment about the turf was interesting. Guys, I who love to hear your thoughts of the turf here at CenturyLink Field or Lumanfield, I should say, the middle of the afternoon game versus the normal evening matches, it makes a massive, massive difference, Michelle. We would always ask them, you know, can you water it more? Water it more, and the sound and the heat seems to just soak it up.

It changes how the board bounces, but more importantly, how it plays, how fast it passes, and things like that, and if it a Sounders, a possession based team, you want to snick wet surface that's the best way, and it's dried turf isn't ideal for them. Ball in the middle of the field Sounders, there's near side the right now with Red Baker Whiting head up lay the ball into Montera's feet, keeps running down the right hand side. Montera doesn't play him, gets shoved over by paraders. Nothing given

by the referee, and eventually it does Montera fell on the ball. Referee Chapman give us a free kick for the sound as an early free kick. Here forty seventh minute Sounders nail sunders Nails just get started in this sun drenched stadium downtown Seapple full house or close to it for the Sounders double header with ol Rain and pauland Thorns, who will be kicking off later this afternoon. Curtly a buzz two hours before kickoff. You could feel the difference in emotion,

to feel the difference in the crowd. There's a Sounders line up for a free kickness near side the right, but there are steps over it. JP whips it in towards the near site cleared by pauland finds herself to a Vander's been lively in that first half, given away to his fellow countryman JP, all the way back to Cody Baker and Seth and fry So Steve jumping

off what Michelle spoke about with Ryan Schmitzer. One of the things being said in the dressing room, well branch Metzer would's on Christian or Dana Rowl Ruthias, guys to be ready. I may need you in five ten minutes, much sooner the usual usually a sab you or sixtieth minute sixty fifth. The sounds need us barked, they need something and can you imagine the crowd row when Christian ro dance number seven jerseys held numbers held up so feating that nature.

Away from that, it's just advanced to ball a bit more directly into the timbers half because it's been played too much in a sound is half nothing in behind. And it doesn't mean you dump a bunch of long boards.

It means Freddie Monterell being the number nine, the highest bound the pitch, take up a highest rung position, engage the center backs, keep them back, and that allows the rest of the teams also step up the greatest with the ball pocket picked to j Pete coach to a Vander top corner of the box block by Cody Baker's gonna roll out of bounds for a early Timbers gold corner kick. We saw it in the midweek einst san Jose was an early

corner kick that got san Jose on the board. And the Sounders now have to make sure they stay focused as a vander Ball at his feets. God being in swinging corner kickers. The big men for Poland go up Zuperich McGraw these goad Is sitting right in front of Rusnak and step from Fries. The

ball gets floated into the top of the box. Good strike but over the bar gold kick Sounders remains noill nil And you know we're speaking about a Sounders bench, but the Timbers bench is not too Chepiva Frank Bowley playing a ton of minutes, but the Timbers he's really helped that team. He's on a bench and a sound as nemesis. We know some Bashi and r uncle who's had a torre time with injuries, but a player who needs no introduction.

So both coaches have aces up the steves for if when needed. What as you mentioned Bolly scored in the four one loss of the last weekend against Sporting Case. Scored early in that game as Rosnet now picks it up this near side the right overlapping by Baker Whites and goes to him from Rosnet. Challenged by Bravo and nothing on board. He has to go back and again we've seen that much in this first half, Nicker White and going again the right

and side. This time he got switched the fast side to Leo Cheo, closed down by Miller. Leo Cho good first touch comes in sidelence right before. We saw that a few times against San Jose, all into Montero, given away, found by Montero, easy free kit for the Timbers and Montero struggled someone in this game zero point zero two expected goals was Montera stats in the first half. Wasn't really engaged in the game. Yeah, he's not found the game and I will not be surprised if Freddy's one of the one

that's removed. And Leo Chu is all nor Leo Chwoo've been high on him in recent a couple of games, but very quiet and then partly his fort parted the teas for we have not been able to find him enough and at sometimes as the wing guard, you've gotta switch up when you're making runs to the board, runs him behind, get himself free to find the board.

But for how good he is, he's given Miller pretty easy afternoons, so fucked all slashed up in the air off fred Baker whitching goes out for Poland, throwing this near side the left right in front of the Potland bench with Brobert ball in his hands, looking forward, and he's going to check into the board a square pushing Cody Baker back down the line eventually goes into his go to his feet, but challenge well by jaymar goes out of bounce.

Let's give you the line up for the sound. Has no change in personnel coming out of halftime Frying gold Back, Fort Baker, Yaymer, Rgan and knew who for us NAT can JP in the middle of the field read Baker Whiting on the right, Ladero and the ten leochore the left. Freddy Montero as the number nine up front as Poland timbers with a Vanders cushion header read well by Jackson Reagan as Ladera comes away that now finds Leo true that dont

site one v one top of the box goes past. That's it Baggers, Zuperway treat gun A slight touch killed the cross and the Timbers now come away with it. A brainer ball goes in behind for Nis god given away Jackson, Reagan cleans it up, goes all the way back to Stephen Fry. Let's give you the Poland lineup even Chitchen goaler back for Miller, zuper Ridge, mc Bravo, Paradas and Chara in the middle, Breno Avander and Espria and Nis Goda as the number nine at Choppy starts this first half book.

Teams given the ball away cheaply. This time the Poland Timbers come away with it. The middle of the field given away again. Sound has picked the pocket a Paradas and it's read Baker Whites in this near side of the right. It goes towards the right corner, goes around him inside the box.

It's got a chance, well covered by McGrath. A brother comes back and finds it ball and Saya said it wasn't tight cleared out of bounds throwing for the Sounders, but that's why it takes much better from Reade Baker white in a dynamic run gets the crowd into it underfeed be the crowd want to have a reason so to get behind the team, and it doesn't always take a

goal. It can be a dynamic attacking play which both teams three definite lacking the quality of the final fogs hasn't been there on either side of doubt disappointed Branch meets and also on the opposite side, Torsammer racing wall into Freddy Monterrey inside the box texts the ball well wee Baker Whitey skips by, trays to

find j pet corner of the box. Doesn't Jim Baller come away with it or get shifted to a Sprea touched the outside of his foot read well by Jackson Reagan but given away again a Vander, this time this nearside the left comes away from Cody Baker as able to switch the ball knew who reads it, but Marino picks it up, shifts the ball to the right inside to Eric Miller comes inside, Sounders winning back in much of that in the first seven minutes here as remains sound as nil, Timbers nil, e quc pitch

looming field or given away again, this time by rsnack to Bravo has got some time and space to carry the ball forward and he just runs into JP quality lacking so far coming on the second half as Cracky on the Sounders bench encouraging his team to get forward. Pretty big Hawhiti to the right side, got some time and space towards the end line. Poor cross, but it rebounds off mc grass Sounders corner get but much great from the Sounders because they're

not wasting time with playing boards across the back. You don't have to. The timbers are dropping back. They're giving you that space. And so you're seeing the Sounders now breaking lines playing board into the attacking midfielders and then chew here here I think the Sounders fans realizing Bryan Schmetzer is about to supplement his

line up with a couple of pretty big changes. Well, we see her years and we see a Christian rolled on getting stripped off, getting the last as the ball comes in headed over the top, punched away by Eva Sitch. Here was a flick on the front post by Yamar, but dealt well by evasitchers Pauland's coming transition with Morenos and niece Godaf as he crosses into sound

as territory shifts it from center to this nearside. The left at Vander, challenged by Cody Baker goes past Baker, stamps him up well Avander, then she gets the ball of bass collected easily by Stephen Fry. Remains no nil and the game's beginning to open up. I think both teams have really struggled with quality in the final third. But as legs get tired, the game

gets a bit more stretched. It's a perfect time for branch Schmesser to bring on Christian Road down a rail rudds, because I do think we're gonna start to see more chances, more mistakes, means of that nature who just sense the game is on the edge of something's about to happen. Has happened yet it's about to and branch Messer's wasting no t time in ging toys bench according for reinforcements, stilly fields. The fields getting bigger and bigger. It's getting

stretched back. Fours of each team are dropping deeper, and lots of space to the midfield right now, lots of space to cover. The ball goes down the line the fast side challenge by Moreno gets in front of nwho back to new who from the o'show sound has build out of the back. The sound as FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC as a Sounders now with Ladera pocket picked again, the Paradis wins the

ball. It finds itself to Marino the fast side into Paradis a spear coming inside off his left midfield position, leaving the outside left wide open for Bravo, who now receives it in front of the Portland Timbers bench back into a Vander Who's dictated play well for the Timbers. Now better possession of the Timbers

is. The Sounders hold their line inside their half of the field, except Montero, who holds high super ringles free of Laderos, a momentary chance for him to win the bull, but the sun Poland shifts sensor to left, Ivenda inside to his right foot, whips the bulling dangerous cross bounces in six yard books moreno got inside lou bull bounce over for a gold kickt what I tell you If a spreed bolls bolls for that with his head, I think

it's an accident board by Vandon for some reasons, tries to go with a leg. He goes in ahead, he scores, but sounds escape. Well, the roar is for Reds and low roar is for rold On Michelle, We're gonna throw it down to you. Oh. Welcome to return for Christian rolls On, ending his nine game absence for the Sounders, and he went out for concussion protocol. Ironically enough, the first match he missed was the

Sounders lost to Portland earlier this season. We have to remember how instrumental Christian is to this team. He currently sits third in club history for all time all competition appearances. And while Christians on the pitch of this season, the Sounders with a record of five to one and one without him three to five

and one. Topping it all off today, as Christian's birthday turned twenty eight, Well, happy birthday to Christian. Wouldn't we love a birthday present from him to everybody in this stadium with a goal or an assist to win this game, but a welcome return for Christian rolled On, his brother missing through

suspension. But Ruy Diaz looked sharp in the last game. Couldn't get on the end of those chances and hopefully a couple more days of practice thirty minutes on Wednesday, getting ready of what is now a thirty three minute cameo here because he gets back to full fitness that hamstring injury, and ruy Di has to get a slide lightful light from Montara and the ninth and then Red Baker Whiting came off to make way for Christian rolled on in the white midfield spot

top of the box given away by ruy Ds his times a scuer in trent position in front of the sounders mentioned it's near site. The timbers left giving away found itself back to Bravo who clicks the ball down the line finds the boundles being open on the left side spot so far on the second half foul by Yama free kick timbers. Yeah, and you're just seeing laughing for the sounders with Rale, the difference with him and Montaro. At times Rale wall

drop deep. But he's gonna absolutely occupy the two center backs and the sounders. Now when you get the board wide, you have a guy who loves to live inside the box, and so that's what he has a Christian role done. He plays that role perfectly, that inverted right midfield role because you'll find the balance between being inside and also being outside when he needs to. He helps cover defensively a lot for the lights of Nikoladero and sometimes Albert Rusnap

when he goss forward. He's an all around machine that just does what the team needs for I think having the luxury to bring those two kinds of players on it's huge, and it's if it has a material impact I want the sounds are trying to do this afternoon. Well, it's it's occupying players, occupying space. It gives time and space potentially for others. As you mentioned, it's exactly and it's not with Friscion, Yes, it's some of what

he does, it's what he allows everyone else to do. He's really good for nicol Adero, for example, because nicol now we have more freedom to roam into spaces because Christian has a great sense of no one. Okay, if we lose the board that space that nicole Vaca can be exupposed, I'm gonna come in there. He's a master doing it. There'll certainly a different challenge for the back fourth for Timbers now they've got Ruy Diaz who can play

with us back to goal as we know. But certainly has the ability to slashing behind both zuper Rich and McGrath and the attacking third of the field, and then flanked by Speed on the left with Chew and Speed and Guy Ale on the right with Christian rolled on. As the players get a short break, it was a flash of bodies. It was knew who on moreno middle of the field, Marino remains down. The players able to get an early

drink in this second half means Sounders nail to busnail. This copyrighted audiocasts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. For one hundred and eighteenth edition, This great game started in nineteen seventy five. The crowd as certainly had a support in Michelle. We're going to throw it down to you, yes, and

this crowd, speaking of them, are in for a great afternoon. Not only do we get the Sounders in Timbers rivalry going today, but the extension of the Seattle in Portland rivalry coming up later this evening in the Rain and Thorns will be the first meeting between the two sides this season. The Rain

have not lost a regular season match against the Thorns since September eighteen. A lot of fun storylines going into this outside of the rivalry two, the rain are trying to break the NWSL attendance record, which currently San Diego holds at thirty two thousand people. Also, today will be the two hundred regular season game for head coach or v so fans should definitely stick around and enjoy that one as well. Thanks Michelle. Yeah, we saw a great press conference

between two head coaches, Laura Harvey. It's a great career here in Seattle's Brusac. Now some space and time. Top of the box goes to Rugias, cluts away by the Timbers, but it's Leo Choo inside the box comes off, back in and zuperis plex It plays it, but only finds knew who plays the ball back to Jackson Reagan Sounders Timbers sharing possession in this second half, who was a dominant dominated by the Sounders in the first half and

second half evenly matched. As the sound is now left corner goes down the line, evades, Leo Choo's inside run goes over the end line Goldkie Timbers. But it's a good idea from Nikonnadero try to just play Leo cho a little board around the corn in behind overhitting the past. But he hasn't manifested

in chance from gold yet. But it's a different energy by the sounds, the attacking of a bit more tempo, a bit more purpose, and that's been aided by yes, probably a very inspired halftime speech if not firing and then bring it on to you know, starting eleven players. Christian will learn around with medias and the Timbers haven't been able to sustain any kind of possession what they did so well in the first half in terms off picking the Sounders

off again and transition, it's not happened. The Sounders aren't missing as many classes. Or goes into two back to Ladero left hand side low cross again and he's so if they'd that first man, it doesn't it gets clear, but the Sounders are able to pick it up again middle of the field with

game Or inside the center circle, flicks it from center to left. Christian headed by Ladero to Chew as Christian Roldan occupy that number ten spot as Steve mentioned, able to see that space as Ladero stays on the left hand side inside Or comes into Rusnak clips of the center to this nearside the right. Cody Baker, thirty yards from the endline, goes inside little wall pass with

Roldan back to Rusnak into Christian Rock. Don's getting towards the endline. He cuts it back, clip to the back post, Leo Chio over the top and wide. Good build up by the sounders, combination with Rosnack. Baker rolled on and then rolled on. Quality and skill showed as he turned away from pressure, clipped the ball to the back post and Leo Chio headed it over the top or it's a big chance. It's a big chance. And again the build up was good Cody Baker, Rusnack. But that was all

about Christian road down. I mean he found the board a couple of times. Once he got inside the box. A little nice christ turn sends the defendant to the crowd and it lifts a delightful cross towards the back post. And the challenge for Leo Chi was he had to generate his own power. The board was just floating up there. That's the right thing you're taught,

headed back where it came from. Unfortunately for Leo Chi, he couldn't get that inside the post and heads it on the other side, but as good a chance as the Sounders have created and has taken board of sixty five minutes two shots in the second half of the Sounders already match what they gave in the first half. As a sound is trying to find that opening gold here at EQUC Pitch, Loomin Field ninety three point three kjr FM Sounders nail Timbers

nail packed house here at Loomin Field for this matchup. As the ball goes to JP tries to flick it down the line and it's cut out by Bravo, goes all the way back to Eva Chitch and Baridas closing the ball down. Launched forward by Evashitch, challenged by Jack Suit and Cushion headed to Leo

Chu flicks it inside but given away. Zu Bridge picks it up, goes so Eric Miller fast side the timber's right defended well by Knew who throwing for the Timbers comes in quickly headed by JP, could finds itself to needs go to who flicks it over the top to Paraders, goes inside to a squeeer, got in front of Cuddy Baker but couldn't get it on target and it goes out for gold kick Sounders, and I think Baker doesn't last enough there

because a Sprea looked to be favorite to the ball and sometimes as a defender, maybe you can't win it, but what you can do is make sure that the striker also doesn't win it. And that's exactly what Coldy Baker did there, substitute incoming for the Timbers. Moreno's gonna go off got knocked just a few minutes ago by knew who in a collision middle of the field because he limps off, takes the shimpads off and it's Marvin Luria. It's gonna

come. On twenty twenty two, Laria got two goals and two assists. It's not found anything on the campaign so far. Because he comes and slots in on that left hand side midfield position, the attacking three to the sprea shifting to the right. The ball goes long headed by McGrath, forcefully goes

out for a throw in four. The Sounds deep on their right hand side with Cody Baker and the Sounders. Certainly you feel the energy Steve with the changes that Bryan Schmitzer made and as you mentioned, little Ladera now shifting left and right in the middle. Yeah, it's definitely been lifted. The crowns a little bit more into it. Two, there's something more to cheer about again. The clearest cot chance that was creating was the header for Leo True

from the great Christian rolldown across. But he've also began to limit what the Timbers did really well, and that's to been by keeping good possession. That's were a top of the box of aids pressure from ross Nat. The JB coming back takes the pocket of a spree and the Sounders now are able to move in transition, but defended by Chara is able to contail that attack with Loladera. But it's new now running forward three kick given or we've seen a

marauding knew Who a few times this this game. Also than Bryan Schmitzer maybe would allow based on this new formation of him sitting and right. When it works, it's great. It's when it doesn't work and you give them ball away as one of the last defenders. So news bott value you know, the wrisky reward on that occasion does once when the free kick. Yeah, absolutely much rather see knew Who moved that boat on up one line and let the lacks of jar part of Rusknack make the game. That's good to see

him back, so it looks more like his usual self now. As the Sounders pick up the ball off Nis Gold and keeping away by Ruy Dias trying to do a little bit too much, the ball get shifted the right hand side to a Screa challenged by Knew who eighteen yards from the end line the

fast side the right right in front of the sister referee. As Nuho challenged the ball, he goes back to a Vander challenged by JP, into to Larrea, dropped to Shara, back to Larrea, goes out to the Timber's right hand side with a Screa challenge well by Nu the flex it is going to be a Timbers throwing deep on their right hand side, five yards in the corner play. As you mentioned, one goal separates these teams over the course of MLS regular season fifty five goals to Portland, fifty six goals for

Sounders, holding a five hundred record, fourteen wins. Apiece seven drawers. But they look to launch a long throw in it. It comes in top of the six yard box, cleared by JP mis judge by Jackson Reagan, but JP clears up the mess knocked high in the air by paraders to the top of the box. Gaymark comes in, wins the ball. Well Darn flicks it away from Barbo. Barbo comes in late foul on roll Dan.

It's gonna be a free kick for the sound Its remains nil nil. I mean it's it's kind of surprising here that Sam Racey hasn't turned to board. He's on a bench. There's only twenty minutes plus to go. Also, Baston Black would not go again. He's been in this your fitness for him over the past year or two. But for the Port and Timothy do have resources And as I say that, do you also have Racist waving someone over?

And I would not be surprised to see that miss Frank boarding lay or two left hand side and the fast side left goes into La Darrow isn't able to give it back to him. Cleared by superch high and long, it drops to new who's able to shield pressure from this. God goes back to Jackson. Reagan closed down quickly by a Vander, but able to roll the ball across to Stephan Fry. The Sounder is now gonna build out the back, and as you mentioned, Bully came in in the early part of the

season, three goals already on the season for him. Scored the opening goal against Sporting Casey and their four one loss this past weekend. Lady Menioned Blanco has been a mainstay in this squad for a number of years, forty goals and fifty assists in regular season for the Timbers. As a Sounders pick it up right hand side deep pushing the bat By Brothers silly foul to give away.

Baker just needs to get up, walk away. It's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders, and roll Down goes over and gives his young teammate of high five and as Baker quopi in to Prova spaces a nice little smile on branch Messers face because seeing a young player Siver riding. What this rivalries about? What the passions about? Who did well? I mean the

Timbers, the old last enemies. I'm fair, very city foul. Baker's going nowhere a push on the backs, a definite free kick, and he gives nick on adar On pretty much like a corner on his front hand side, a chance to whip in a dangerous board the sound As I've sent everybody forward here, I've got chance of masetpiece. It's a free kick for the Sounders deep on this near side, the right towards the southwest corner. It's

gonna be an inswinger whip Ladero's left foot. The big men are up on top of the bcase upard Is Jackson, Reagan Game on top of the goalkeeper inside the six sharp box four whip tin easily cleared by Potland. Zoe Bridge clears it long when hey Baker is able to save it slides out of bounds. Bore goes out of bounds, Portland throwing on their left hand side,

but sound as bounds. If Sounders FC scores anytime after the eighteenth minute during a whole match, you'll have the chance to win free lasic surgery from Sharp Vision Modern lasic and lens. three point three KGr FM. The buzzing this crowd anticipation for the opening goal as a Sounders win it with Christian Roldan back on the field today after missing through concussion, slides it across the Cody Baker got some time and space comes inside a ladera JP to a Rusnack as they working from bright to center, Rusnack driving forward top of the box to ruy Diez left corner to Leo Shoo given away to which he sees the ball A spear tries to go along.

So I want to be one battle with Gaymar and this golden Yemo reads it well, plays it all the way back to Jackson Reagan and let's not forget Jackson ain't got a red card in Moreland game last year, and certainly his maturity steve over the last six twelve months is apparent. Yeah, it's fantastic and it's a parfit. You know, that was a learning moment for him, and in that moment you can even sink or swim, let it define

you. He didn't. His bounce back really really well become a very valuable member of the scene for the Sounders, And I give the Sounders a lot of credit. They've been a much better team second half and the Timbers really trying to figure out a way to generate Charless and getting the board into the attack the whole game has been played inside his timbers half. The Sounder is offensive half. And what the Sounds have done well is not giving away city

boards. When you give away city boards to a team that just wants to get on transition, you're playing right into their plan and the Sounders have not allowed us. So that's been an uptick. The temples better, the passings

better, The subs have made a difference so far. What's missing now it's more quantity looks on gold and hopefully one of them finding the back of the net substitute for Poland as bully as we mentioned three goals on the year came in March of twenty twenty three from Hungry after spending four seasons at his former

club, had a good start to his MLS career. As the Sounders pick it up on the right hand side with rolled on as it drives past paraders, gets to the end like cuts it back well and it's bravo over the end line for a sound as corner kick they're right hand side or like it from rolled down. What you want to see what we've missed the last month or so Steep. Yeah, he's been fantastic since coming on and I'm assually surprised how good he looks. I thought, you know, he may get

a lot of a little bit of Nasa. Maybe your touch is a bit off, and after being away for so long, it looks like he's not missed a beat and he's really elevatid when it sounds to be trying to do, especially in the attacking sense. JP outswinging corner kick comes top of the six yard buds cleared easily again by McGrath, flicked by Cody Baker back out to JP down the line to roll down on side towards the end like flicks the back post, it says. The referee called it out. It curled

down and bounds. It looked like and see if he got a flick the clash of bodies, maybe a look clash of head the yea yeah, Yama came in aggressively as he should. He's gone for the ball. I think he got the best off suppress there who's down, and I mean referee did give a corner, so we'll seeing what ends up happening and sold it up your sister. Referee on his right hand side saying the last such was offer zue Bridge, so he didn't call a found the Sounders may still have a

corner him. We're just seeing the replay got flicked over the top and left. Yeah, very fair challenge both players going up to the ball. It's a good referee, so make sure he gets attention. He's a head injury. Uncometer training staff. That's the riving to do. But there was no found and it should be a corner and John Parlor will get another chance here for the Sounders to swing the board into the book. The last delivery he

did not have paid the first man. You gotta beat the first man at the near post to give your runners a chance to really attack the board and get something good frame or zup. Pritch is arguing it can come back on the field, but as we know the letter of the laws, he's gonna walk all the way around and they get reintroduced towards the halfway line. Medical staff for the Sounders they're gonna run on as well. Take a look. It was a clash of heads, so protocol states that get checked out.

As he walks and stands next to the corner kick as it comes in to the back Postess I'm cleared by Chara top of the box and again by the timbers. It's been easy so far for the Timbers to clear these balls free kicks and corner kicks. Sound is gonna have to find a way to rate. The deadlock remains nil nil Here seventy sixth minute EQUC pitch looming field sound as Timbers all goes long to roll down, cleared by McGraw, flick by Luria to parade as the middle of the field tries to go over the top

to bully Steve. It's gonna be a better, bigger challenge now bullies powerful fast, the better these golden plays it back to go more yeah, yeah, and I think from regular Yamar they recognize that. So they dropped their langes a couple of yards, which makes a difference there give themselves space for anything in behind they could in a foot race. They can make sure they get to some post. He changing the dynamics that they have up top two

top left corner of the box. While in one with Eric Miller slashes it across handled well by ever A Church on the front post. But again the sound is finding a bit more based on that left hand side as they stiff the ball quickly through the midfield and stand La Cross finds the hands of the the chitie and it's good from Leal chooes. He's at a quiet evening having Neil choo You know, for the level he's been playing, guy, he's played in moments today and when you do that, you better make sure that

in those moments the quantity is sky high. On that occasion good dribble or when you put across that high into the goalkeeper's hands, you don't really give you at tactic players any chance to get on the end of anything. So you just a little bit more quantity, just got slow down, take your time, try to pick someone out. Because he did have runners or shifted

from new on the left hand side all the way to the right. With Cody Baker brings it down well, Rabo challenges and plays the ball on the six yard bucks too early, Rudiez wasn't able to make it an either chinch is able to collect. You can see the idea from Cody Baker. He needed to wait just what I'm not two more seconds, that's a bit second to give Rudys the chance to make that run across the goalkeeper and the first defender as it were across came with too early we're hoping it get the butt

again. The Sounds very much in control. Stephnie Fris had nothing to do in a second half. The Timbers really not holding on but playing a game that the sound has preferred to play and having a hard time getting out. What's missing from the Sounders here is really just creating pretty clear cut gross bread tosses. Ye, certainly the threatening outside is there with roll down ad show just how quality of delivering roving the ball quickly through the midfielders game with a

follow through collapses onto bully. It's going to be a free kick for the Timbers as they walk slowly to the ball. It's about time management for the Timbers right now. In the seventeenth minute remains Sounders nil, Timbers nail. Certainly the crowd the volume picking up, trying to get behind their team get this opening goal from much needed win. It's been a shaky may for the Sounders as we get into June now and they turn the page to find three

points to elevate themselves higher in the West in conference standings. As a fand of this near side channel the left channel the left he whips it in with his right foot, clips into the back post or comes in flicked on goal step and Friday is able to collect it easily and then throwed out to Leo to Ladero left hand side, ball goes down the line, given away. Eric Miller is able to read the play to Zuebrich and the Timbers come again.

Time and space. The game is getting stretched now. I do like the quick throw from Stefan Frank adultink Leo True did Ladero too many favors? The run wasn't there. Ladero's waiting are you can look inside outside, give me a passing lane or true Song just ran forward was pretty close in the defender Indian Ladero had to try and play something in behind and it was a given way. But a sound is doing well to recover the ball again as

they have done for the majority of the second half. Paraders goes in on JP on the fast side. Referee Chapman free kick and a yellow card for Paraders. Abochara and Parade us in the middle of the field for Portland sit on a yellow card. As we get into the seventy ninth minute, remains Sounders nil, Timbers nil. Free kick for the Sounders to get it underway with JP walking pace right now is both sets of players get a breath becaus

we enter the final ten minutes of this game. As Rosnack drives forward left corner of the box, decides to go out to the left Leo show or to Rusnack inside debox? What time and space isn't able to gather? It defended well by Chow. We've seen that many times over his three hundred and fifty plus MLS games. He who collects the ball, he's a throw for the Sounders. Referee Vought differently gives it to the Timbers, remains nil nil, and then he protests in the way that only knew, who can is

a throw in eighty asks me your gold. It's not the worst decision, dude, thing who just gave away a penalty there? But I will say Christian Rodas had a dynamic impact not seen enough of ral Ruthiaz And that's not a critique as to say that at times you can forget he's there. It happened also in the reverse picture in Portland, and he pops up up with great finish. It'll take one chance, as I mean, the Sounders keep

getting ball wide, putting balls into the box. You get a feeling that unlike Wednesday, when it does come to roll today, it might end up in the back of it. Well, rowl on eight goals against the Timbers, it's just a two goals in the season when the last goal being that goal. It's pulling back in April fifty and Sony Clint dempse it sits above him with nine goals and wouldn't love the Sounders fans love to see garridyas match

that nine goal total in the game today. As the Sounder is now building in the back with Jackson Raget center circle, Coddy Baker available on the right, that's off Laria's head goes out for a throne which Cordy Baker will pick up. The Sounders fcs on the road next weekend versus Charlotte FC on Saturday,

June tenth, at four thirty pm specific time in Charlotte. Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen right here on ninety three point three KJR FM and l RAY thirteen sixty am in Spanish with the Providence Swedish pre match radio show starting at four pm. As the Portland Timbers come away, that flick through the legs of rosnat by a Vander driving forward, big touch games be able to read it, steps forward,

knocks it out of play. It's gonna be a Timbers thrown on this near side the left around the halfway line with Bravo as the Sounders now gets set Leo Rue staying high and wide on the far left hand side. Ball goes into Laria, deflected off Christian rolled on as it back to Bravo's gonna walk up take some valuable seconds off the clock if we get into eighty second minute

here at EQC pitch lubin Field Sounders nil, Timbers nil. Ball goes down the line with Laria back to Gold Go towards the end line, defending well by Cody Baker, and it's gonna be nothing more than a Portland cornicing on their left hand side. Remains and a bit of life from the port And Tim is saying now in the attacking sets, we've not seen too much from

them in the second half. They've been sort of content to absorb the pressure, depend on the transition play, which the Sounders have completely neutralized, and not a fight in the second half. But now he's a set piece or short to Laria from a Vander back to a Vander top left corner of the box would be one with Yama inside the box, left hand side goes towards the end line. Big touch over the end line, sounder's goal kick and they sounded. I mean it's a It's an absolute waste from Evander. You've

been under the cash, under pressure, get aboard into the box. You sent everyone forward. The sounders will take it, but he just bailed out. The sounder is there from defending the dangerous set piece by dribbling gown bouncer. Very few players can face the aim up like that and take him on his stertaze space and a bander found out the hotway. There's nothing worse than a center back against the eighty second in minute running up for a corner.

Nothing comes in. They're gonna run all the way back. Yeah, sure, the job in Vanders. The player is thereas get an air fall. I'm sure a Stefan Fry knocks it long towards Cody Baker. No challenge on Paradus as he's able to win the ball but only finds yam up cushion head of given away. Challenge on Bully Jackson Reagan slash the ball out of bounds on this near side the left with Barbo again. The game's kind of dropped a little bit, so a better lull right now. Yeah, you're right.

The Sounders had that burst. Can we go? Can we go? Nothing came of it. The Timbers now starting to find their way into the game. It's just sort of hanging into banish right now. But he says there'll be one more explosion from either side and that could be what ends up deciding the outcome of escaping to the back post header by a scree It was adventures a free head of an invaded new r on the back post twelve yards out goes over and that will be a screas final contribution to the game.

But the Sounders will get that goal kick and for Gusha, who's scored a goal of course against the Sounders back down in Providence, part will come on the field. He goes splot in or we'll see it will be in the number nine spot and Bully will shift across to the right. Although change formation right now with for Gusha and Bully lining up. Dangerous play by the Sounds get built out of the back. Gave my right hand side slice out of

bound and Steve eighty fourth minute. Maybe not the right time in place to build it out of the back. No, and if you're gonna try to do that, you better be a lot cleaner than when we just win it on the Sounds. Nay, it was very sloppy. The past on Yama to Stephan Fry wasn't great. He's under pressure. Then step lifts the board to job Parlos the height. That's not the best boarding s on the Sounders.

In the end, Yama ends up putting the board out in the touchline and the timbers and be enjoying a good bill in the last five minutes after being second best for much of the second half. Yet chat in the middle of the field back to Bravo this near side the left for the US in the end lights to roll it down the line. It's gonna run out of bounds. Cody Baker's gonna see it out. It's gonna be a goal kick

for the Sounders. Remains nil nil and you know, just wonder the fitness of Sebaston Bronco, because you think if one matter in us, that's the guy you bring on. Is about five ten minutes to vote, depending on how much time we have added on. The Sounders are going frank whos we've seen a bay getting ready. But on the Timber side maybe content with a

point, you know. I think for the Timbers they're in ten spot, which suddenly they're four hundred on the season so far, they've never been below five hundred on the season, so they need to find a way a spark to get their season back to life. As the ball sits on the touch line, doesn't go out of bound, goes down the line, rude he has looking for something a bit more, a bit better from Cody Baker runs into either Chichen the Portland goal. As a Sounders now just taking their final

breadth, we can get to the eighty sixth minute. Here half the field now this west side of the field in shadow, east side, the far side of the field sort bathed in sunshine. As the players now going to fight that little bit the fatigue. It's early afternoon gamers. JP gives a free kick away. It's been of a software given by Alan Chapman in the center circle and it's gonna be a change for the Sounders. Ryan Schmitzer making what will probably be his final move a bear it's gonna come on the field

started the game against Seller as I started the game against New York. It's gonna be Ladero. He's gonna trudge off the field, and what's a little disappointed is coming off, especially in a game so finally balanced as this. But the Bear's going to come on the field seats slots into that number tense game. Yeah, And I think it's two options to you Bear goes in as a number ten that plays really close to Ruthiaz or you go to an

old school four four two. You know you played charm Parler and rust Night next to each other. Growl up top leo Chio on the left, Christian on the right. It does look like you Bear will slide into a more of a ten year old. But I think practically this could play a lot like the four foot two when the sound is actually our attacking was one you bear to really push forward and join Rudyzid Evanna tries to find the battle it

does. Top of the box ball bounces around, eventually cleared by the sounders and Baker gets smashed into it by Bravo, who sits on a yellow card that's gonna get called to the referee. There was a late challenge. He was shoulder, the shoulder of putty bags. Not the biggest kid. It felt late. We'll see if he's gonna be fortunate to just get a word here. Yeah, I mean we're gonna see a replay. I think in bro I thought it was a strong, hard challenge, sending a message.

Perhaps it's a Darby game. I mean, we've all been on the end of worst of that, So the fact it's on a yellow is maybe what's upsetting the sound as But no, it's a foul and move on. As we say, referees just need to stay out of it. Nobody questions. Yeah, if it sounds player got set off with that, we'd be very upset, especially in a game like this. You know it's gonna be charged. You know that files are gonna come in and across the bay. It's

been reasonably yeah, you know, reasonably solid and reasonably good. Hasn't been got out of control at all. For so for the passionists out there earth in the standard on the field, the ball gets not long. Buddy Baker stays higher as ball down shifts into that right backspot to give him some clever Rosnack goes in pardon and founder to brather fleix the ball down the line one

by Rusnack flick towards Buddy Baker isn't able to keep it in. It's gonna be a timber story on this near side the left, And just as this game enters its final phase, you wander not as players, at which point you sort of say, Okay, we've done all this work. You wanted to win, but oh we don't want to throw this away. This set off for that point or should we absolutely golfer it. So it's gonna be which team manages that dynamic could be better. Yes, it's a chance to

golf for it. Is there you gold for it, but you absolutely do not want to give the game away at this stage of the work so hard. It's not a game, don't you remember it wasn't a vintage game. Definitely was compelling. It sat on the edge of greatness that of quite naked into there. But depending on time added on, it could be one big chance and that's what it would take. Rosne middle of the field. Places

of Voice is near side the right in front of the Sounders bench. Cody Baker, challenged by Laria and Bravo in support, goes down the line towards the end line press of roll of all of them with the bottom of his foot works his way back. Since Timbers come away with it. Rabo switched the ball over the top to Bully, got a chance shoulders shoulder with Knew defends well. Corner kick for the Timbers, but it was a good switch, a good transition from the Timbers. They wanted in the bottom left corner

of the field. Found Bravo. Switcher played to Bully and Knew, who was able to snuff out the danger. There's going to be a corner kick for the Timbers the fast side, their right hand side in the northeast corner. It's gonna be a Vander with his right foot. We always got the ability to put in a great ball. Sounders have to stand strong giving up

a corner kick from this exact position. On Wednesday, ball comes in, bounces around, eventually cleared by Christian roll Gard just the middle of the field. Launched back into the boxers steph and Fright comes out and it drops the ball. It was a foul and Fright gone away with one there. Steve STEP's a lucky boy. I think he has found in the end, but just where he landed the ball, saying that in his hands. But went

back to the last time of the tag. You mentioned that he when Body came on, that the threatening behind him was now there and the Timbers they waited so long to play that balling behind the board, he saw how dangerous he was. Now defended it really well. But that even behind Fret with Body, they really haven't utilized it and it's been there waiting for them. Well. The extra mastoffish time is five minutes. Sounders have five minutes to

find that goal. Mostly from that moreno in a vander comes through a tackle body Baker. Paradus middle of the field, challenged by Jackson Reagan rashly, but it finds itself on the right hand side of for Goosha against Knew who challenged well by Knew who clips off what he thought was for Goosha's backside. It didn't. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Timbers or the Timbers player lies on the ground, see who it is. It's like Paradus the

middle of the field. He got challenged by Jackson Reagan, nothing given by the referee or rashed by Jackson middle of the field. But sound is now gonna have to defend this corner kick that same position. It's just a moment ago a vander on the ball outswinging corner kick to get into the ninetieth minute here and the crowd continued to encourage and support as they defend this corner kick. Big men up for Poland, zuper Rich McGraw. The Godship ball goes

in short flick, bouncing the box. Christian rolled on clears an eventure of the second attempt. It's a bad tries to collect the ball. It's gonna run out of bounds. It's gonna be a Portland Timbers throwing twenty five yards from the corner flag this near site. The Portland left brother ball in his hands. No rush from the Portland left back. They're trying to see out

this game of me into a packed house at luman Field. A point would be a good result for Poland. The ball comes in long headed clear by Baker. Because Rude Diaz tris to challenge the ball in list near side clicks around the corner to roll Dan. He's able to come away with them, finds Rue Daz change of play from center to left and it's a good switcher played by rsnack, the miller has to challenge the ball, flicks it out of bounds for a throwing. I think it's a game that never really found

it's best level, but still it's engrossing. It's engaging. We're hanging on the edge waiting for something to have been here, if in the timbers that this bit will take the point. The sound is still really trying to push on at three points as a bear top of the box, a bear ghost to Christian roll Garne on his birthday. Can he score a goal? Wiggles free from pressure, plays the ball out to the right hand side, Cody Baker flicked off Bravo, Gonna go back to Bravo from a vander knock.

The ball down the line, finds Bully's feet challenged by game up, goes back to Cody Baker inside the attacking third. Plays the ball of Buster Ruyds challenged by the Sounders and there to be a corner kick this near side the right ruey Ds. Can he find the winning goal as he remonstrates with the referee, But it's gonna be russneck ball on the deck this near side the

right. The crowd feeling just the last chance for the Sounders. Big ben up ball comes in attacked, played stride by Nude and all might that would have been some fairy tale finish to this game. For Nu smashes it high over the bar, and it's gonna be a goal kick for the Timbers if we get into the ninety fifth minute. Here the e QUC pitch looming field. Sounders nail, Timbers nail. The scoring update is presented by Providence Swedish. As Ebacinch takes his time fall set middle of the six yard box,

it's gonna knock it long. Sounders back up game are gonna go challenge Usna gets clattered into it by Bully JP. There's nothing more than knock it long. But there's two Sounders players challenging Burriedds with McGrath well down top of the top of the box top right corner, comes inside to his left foot and accomplish with Rusna can almost found his run by a pair, but it's Timbers now in transition with Paradus and for gosh, you're going down on the line.

Jackson Reagan reads it well, cushions the ball back to Stephan Fright clicks it to new was gonna be an offside I think by the assistant referee it is was for Gosso turns and shoots, but coming back from an offside position the loose ball from Stephen Fry that got away with one and there's the final whistle. It was a kg game. The passion both on the field in the stands was there, but the Sounders could not find that opening goal.

Was certainly a game that was set up for magic, but the Sounders weren't able fright to find that goal. Not that pressure in the final third. But the reintroduction of Rydez and certainly the introduction of Christian roll down will put smiles on the faces of fans as they walk away. Probably a dessert point for each team, but certainly for the Sounders to remain now on twenty seven points and these in the Western Conference currently sitting in first position. Jackson Felts

and the team will be back to break it all down. But for me QC pitch at lumin Field, it finishes Sounders nil, Timbers nil. Sounders FC. Beautiful day here limit field in the game between your Seattle Sounders and the Fallen Timbers has ended, probably the final score of zero zero. Let's head down to the field. Michelle Ludko with Stephan Fry walk away

with the win today, but the big upside here another clean sheet. That's nine on the season, leaguing the leading the league and for you, one hundred career shutouts in your MLS career overall, joining one hundred club alongside Nick Romato and Kevin Hartman. Congratulations. Have you had a moment to process that milestone? Oh, it just means I'm old. Never, it means you're

amazing. No shutouts, our team effort, you know, I always say this that you see how fragile they are and how quickly a shutout can get snuffed out. But defensively, we've been we've been doing quite well this year, you know, limiting lots of chances and kind of for the most part buying in on playing as a unit and defending as a unit. And so that it's a stat that kind of falls in a goalkeeper, but it truly is a team effort and and we've got to keep that up because he give

us a good chance just to get points. Obviously we would love to nick one in at the other end and uh and get three, but it gives us a good chance to get points. And for you personally, you've talked a lot about your journey and your career leaving Toronto, coming here and really kind of reinvigorating yourselves as this incredible goalkeeper here in Seattle. You've had so many high, incredible accomplishments and now adding another one to it. What does

it mean personally for you to hit this milestone. Honestly, the personal ones are nice, but we do this for team trophies. Like you know, I if I if I had all these personal accolades, but but it hadn't been part of a team that was able to put something in the trophy room, then would that be a success? You know, I feel blessed that

I'm able to do this for a living and follow my passion. It's great, no, but but you want to win trophies and so I'm very happy that we've been able to do that through my career here with the Sounders. I want some more. You know, these shutouts are not for fun. These shoutouts are for us to try to get into positions to win trophies, and hopefully we can do that this year. We gotta get that on a teacher, I want some more. Let's get some more, start with this

season. Walking through the match today, this it had kind of everything. We were in the middle of the afternoon, the heat of the day, the rivalry, great fans um, kind of a deadlock going through it. What did you see from your from your end, I thought we put into good effort. You know, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's difficult. We've played. This is the third game for us in a week, and

quick turnarounds to the point where you almost can't even train anymore. And uh, you know, usually feel the effects of a game, not the day after, but the second and the third day after, well third day after is game or again, which is quite brutal. So I think we put in a good shift today. Um, a difficult opponent where you know you

don't want to get too stretched and get into a back and forth. There's a couple of spells in the second half where we kind of started opening up a little bit, but we also had good possession on their side, but weren't able to find that last bastill pass to put us into a good position to to get a goal. But you know, sometimes you have to take these games and these results and move on. But now it's about Regent, really get your legs back underneath you and have a solid week of training and

get right for the next game. Absolutely said, all right there to finally have a moment to take a breath after this difficult stretch. What are you gonna think the biggest takeaways are from your team of of areas of improvement or positives from from this, including the four points you guys are able to pick up during that difficult stretch. Yeah, I mean, you know, the first game, we're clean, we get the result, we get the points.

Um, we get the shut out, the second one, I think even though we lose and it's frustrating, we we we created a tremendous amount of opportunities which has been an issue for us. And so that's a positive right there. And then again on on just a quick turnaround to be able to come out here and compete hard and uh and you know, give you your best. Like again, we would have loved to to get three points today. But it's been a lot of a lot of work, a lot

of energy expanded by everybody. And so, um, I think that that's a good thing. Everybody showed up to work every every day, every every game. Um, that's what you need to do. Um. But it doesn't make it any easier, right, Um, but everybody did and so I'm happy about that. Stephite, We always appreciate the time. And again, congratulations on a n other milestone shut out for you. Thanks for sure, Jackson, Thanks Michelle. It's Michelle out to get down on the field

with Stephen Fry. There's a lot to react to. It's a zero zero game today between your Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers. Let's tell you right now in this shut out. Tonight's Man of the match is Yama Gomez Andrade and your local Toyot dealers are product to present tonight's man of the match. You should say, today afternoon, beautiful afternoon, here a Luman field ahead of the doubleheader ol Rain hosting the Potland Thorns in just over an hour.

Well, Jackson Felts, Diego audio and Marcus Hannam and Pete viewing. We're here for the next half hour to break down this match, and let's just go around the room and start with opening feelings before we get into XS and ose and what we saw are how we feeling about coming away with a zero zero draw Diego in this game today? Yeah, I think, you know, considering being a dirty right and maybe the most important match in MLS,

right because of the rivalry and the history between two the two teams. Very disappointed, but also I understand that there's a Stephan pro was mentioning, right, this is a third game in a week, so always there's heavy legs and there's some pressure for for Jovanni Summers's team. I think this is a great result considering what they're doing right now on the table, right, so coming here and tying and also not looking bad against the Seattle Sounders that struggled

to create chances. I did see some improvement in the second half, obviously, and I was happy to see Christian Roldan coming in after you know, missing several matches, seeing rolready as again having some minutes. But there was a lack of cohesion, right, I think in terms of creating chances until I would say towards the end of the game. So I think this week is gonna be good for the team to reflect and also to think ahead.

They're still in a really, really good position right in the table. But to me today it's an opportunity loss of you know, also closing the gap against the Teambers and you know, having that staple win against the eternal rival well, and clean sheets are way more fun when you're the actual goalkeeper. You know, for the fan, you might be going, hey, we wanted a little bit more excitement, but you look, you saw from the from the get go, Hey we're gonna start Freddie up top right there.

Portland are gonna sit back a little bit. It's going to be more of a possession game, right And it just kind of was a you know, you might say a little bit dull, but at the same time, right, the important thing was getting another clean sheet today, having a chance to win the game. Now, did the Sounders create enough opportunities? Maybe not right, You're you're playing with one forward really up in the first half, and so you know times when the balls we're getting whipped in there was no

one there. But that's just the way that that's going to be, right. Freddie had to push, had to do everything. And then you know, Rumi daz a bear come in so and then the dynamic change with Christian rolled in as well, coming in and you could see that, you know, are really our starters were coming back in the energy level and it almost paid off, right, it was it was definitely a game of two halves. But um, you know, obviously we wanted we wanted to see some

goals from the Sounders and it didn't quite end up that way. But you know, nil nil. At the end of the day, it's uh, it's you know, they're not making any ground on us. I think there's a little bit of disappointment in that Sounder locker room, and there's probably a little bit of pleasure in the in the Timbers locker room. To your point, it's nine shutouts, that's seven shutouts at home. That's very good.

Four goals against here. But but we have to say that they probably the Sounders also have to be a bit relieved too, because Portland Timbers had a couple of really good chances that they could have put it away. They had at least two clear ones, one in each half. So um, but I think they wanted more out of this game and wanted to right the ship,

especially in this rivalry. Now, so it's four losses and a tie in the last five, uh, not something that I don't know the term kissing your sister is you know, appropriate for this one, but that's I think that's kind of what it feels like. So so I think they're just gonna be disappointed they didn't pull it out. But it could have gone bad for the Sounders today had Portland finished a couple of chances. But yeah,

to Diego's point, we're still at the top of the table. Yes, you have three games in hand over second place, but you got to keep those guys have to win those games to get ahead of us. So not quite exactly what they wanted. And again, though Stephan Frice is three games in a week, you know Portland played last Sunday. They lost four one to Kansas City last Sunday, so they come in a little fresher and at

the end of the day we'll take the point absolutely. So Sounders in Portland zero zero today here at Loomanfield in the first of this doubleheader with ol Rain hosting the Thorns coming up at five pm. There's a lot to breakdown. We'll continue digging into the xs and os of this game and what we saw on the field. Certain players that stood out from today's match, we'll get into that. You're Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers a zero zero draw today under sunny skies of course the rain hosting the Thorns coming up here in a little bit in our doubleheader match day is the entertainment goes on people hanging around the stadium. Beautiful day for soccer here in

the Northwest Well. Delta Airlines is proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season through Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball program. Jackson Fells, Diego Audio and Marcus Hannaman Pete Fewing here for the postmatch show breaking this down. We talked a little bit about emotions and

how we feel about this zero zero draw in the first segment. Now let's kind of dig into some xs and os and what we saw on the field by key players from both sides, and to continue off of the thing that Pete finished us, which was that Portland had a lot of chances. I mean, if I was four were really good chances in that first half,

only one in the second half. And Diego, as we go around the room, start with you, it did feel like the Sounders had more in that second half and they were doing a lot more and executed on the defensive

end to keep the clean sheet. Yeah, definitely, I think second half we saw a different phase, and we even of the team and we've even mentioned it during the halftime show that the Sounders needed to come in and show more intensity winning those walls and also creating more more chances, right, I think, you know, in general lines, I think the Sounders again, it's it's a bitter sweet result because at the end of the day, you

always want to win against your your biggest rival, especially at home. But I think considering that the chances and Jackson you were mentioning, right, like, I think at the end of the day, if we see the balance, I think the Timbers had more clear chances than the Sounders Aspria was on fire and you know, fortunately, I meanfortually for them, he wasn't able to capitalize. But I think if we see that, then the Sounds should be Okay, we'll take the tie, because you know, one clear chance

would be you know, losing the three points. At the end of the day, you lose two points at home. Still, I think one of the things that um, you know, the team and branch matter needs to figure out this season is in particular, is that Looming Field hasn't been that

fortress that you know, the Sounders I used to right. I think in this season in particular, there's been some key losses against as Sanko saving this week that you know he was not expected, right, So I think definitely overall the Sounders the way they played the second half, I like that intensity. I like Coode Baker on the on the side, that kid is just

getting so much confidence playing this type of games. Also is gonna give him a lot to not all the soccer wise but also mentally, right, So branch Matter could be happy on that, and Red Baker widening as well. And I think that you know, the youngsters are working for the for the team, right, especially the long season, and we have a busy summer with the with the with this new tournament rther we're gonna have well, I'm trying not to think about that. I'm just thinking about today and but you're

right, the young players that did a great job today. And it wasn't our best our best team, but to taging with Pete during the game, and you know, I was only successful and every team I played out on the four or four two. Because when you start off with different formations and different tactics, it's it's hard. It's hard to then figure out what you're doing. And so it was like we were playing for the draw on the first half and then and then how do you then switch gears and change momentum

and and all these different things. So as a goalkeeper, I'm like zero zero, I'm totally happy. I got my clean sheet, my clean sheet, bonus, Right, I'm happy. Right, We're we're good as clams. But then all of a sudden, you're like, part of it is

we had forty two thousand people here. We need to create more excitement and a team like Portland, right, we need more crosses and we need you know, just everybody should be dying at the end of the game, right because they can't move and um. And then you know, we did get some impetus from Christian rolled in and a bear when they came in and Ruey d is a top, but it wasn't it wasn't enough to win the game, right, And that's ultimately why we're sitting here talking and we're like,

oh, it wasn't that great of a game, you know, an ultimate you know, like fan experience and excitement. But the Sounders did their job and what they wanted to. But I want I want to see more excitement. I want to see more crosses, more goals. One of your keys to the match at the start of the game was crossing the ball, and we saw a few times in the first half Leo Chew getting going. But at least for me, I didn't see enough crosses overall in the ninety minutes.

No, I didn't either, And that's why it probably wasn't that, you know, the most exciting game, but it was what the Sounders needed to do, and with with the with the bad run they had in April and turning it around, right, maybe this is, you know, what they needed and we're still in first place. You know, it's not you know, it's not the end of the season, right, it's it's the beginning of the season. We got some crucial minutes to some key players in

third game in a week. Yeah. I think when Ruey Diaz and rolled on came in sixty second minute, you could feel something right. The crowd got into it. It elevated the crowd. I think before the game some of the players were talking about we need Briant was talking about too, we need the crowd to get involved. That all happened, but we just didn't get anything out of it. And when you look, it's been about the last eight or nine games that we haven't scored more than one goal or or

been shut out. So, um, they're just a bit e n make. The chances they had Wednesday against San Jose were more plentiful and better. I thought, you know Diego has said about Baker on the right hand side, I thought he really came alive. When Christian Moldon came onto the field, you could see him going forward. Maybe it was by design that they had to stay home when he had read Baker whiting in front of him. But when Cody Baker and Christian were together, they looked really good. He

looked better on the right than he did on the left. He looked more comfortable and more confident. And I thought when he got into the corner and he got into his Bravo and they mixed it up and Bravo got out the card, that was a moment. Let's let's talk about that moment because we haven't felt that big kind of you know, head to head, you know,

clash rivalry moment. And Kody Baker and Claudio Bravo there and in something like the seventy something's minute, Uh, you know, that is a moment where they got into it and it felt the intensity of the rivalry finally felt back. Yeah did you Yeah? I thought the same. And it reminded me of when Christian Moldon supped into a game and he was a rookie and he ended up going from the eighteen to the eighteen to track back and everybody went, ah, look at that, And that, for me, was

that kind of moment. Did you have one of those plane Marcus in the pros? Do you have a moment where you come out and clock somebody or you make a big save or skate save or something that. I mean a lot of I had a lot of those moments, but the first one. Yeah. But so so when you talk about like key moments, we would

need the crowd in it, right. It's up to the players to get the crowd into it, and they would they would be willing right if they go in and make those flying tackles, they do all these things, they

make those runs. I mean, you know, those are the things that the fans remember and yeah, you know, like, uh, you know, guy gives the way a stupid pass in the midfield but tracks all the way back and makes some crazy tackle like Sonko used to do all the time because he was terrible on the ball, but he would make the most amazing tackle you've ever seen. You know, those type of things are are are what gets the crowd into it, right, that might have been his stick,

by the way. Lose the ball, get it back, keep your job, yeah, and smash somebody in the corner. But that's what it's about. That's what you know, like rad Evans used to do, right, like all those all the great players, and um Zach Scott. When you think of the Sounders, that's what the Sounders were about, right. And but the problem is now you get a yellow card for something, and and you know you you miss a game and you don't want anyone playing in

your position. The referee, the refereeing is different. The game has changed. People remind me that all the time. It's not the same game when you were playing, right, and and it's not. But um still we

needed just more excitement and more work right from the team. Yeah, and and and I think I'm I'm with Marcus about the entertainment, right and especially I think you know, besides that moment, I think considering again being a dervy he wasn't enough right, excitement from and for both teams at the end of the day, right, I think, I think but Timbers they're happy with the tie, but I think the Sounders could at least It's like,

you know, being forty thousand people here, he'd be being a special day at Double Heather. Again, as a fan, you would expect more right to die on the on the side, you know, on the pitch, right in that sense, So I think that that's something. But but again I think there's a lot of factors. Right, they're getting to us three games in one week at even Stephen f I mentioned, So I think that

that that factor is in a lot. But again, being always a derby, you would expect to all the players just to to you know, to die for em especially after the charter getting a booked in the in the seventh minute, right right, you know those type of things you're like, and then Lao Chi had a chance to dribble char right after that go down the side like he goes easier foul you ye, or you're gonna get past it,

right, those are the two things that can happen. That was in like the tenth minute that would have changed everything right after that, and you know, and then he decides to come back because we want to keep the ball, right, those are the tactics we were talking about. Hey, let's keep the ball, keep you know, keep possession. Whereas if he just keeps going right, maybe he's off in the tenth minute, right, those are the things that change the game, right, just those little things

here and there. At the end of the day, it's a zero zero game final between your Seattle Sounders and the visiting Portland Timbers. You know, game Gomez and Joti was our Toyota the man of the match. You know, Cody Baker could have definitely been up for that. I will say a fifteenth minute, you know, Cody Baker and a beginning to the Emerald Queen

Casino play of the match. We don't have a highlight for him, but I look back to the fifteenth minute where Portland may have had the best chance of the entire day, where they have a one on one Cody Baker is able to catch up to I want to. I don't know if it was in a spree or Soniaga moreno, but Cody Baker catches up to him on one on one, a massive tackle where he's able to poke the ball to

Stephen Fry. That kept a big shot and a big chance for Portland which could have resulted, you know one, nothing came there in the fifteenth minute. That massive tackle by Cody Baker in the fifteenth minute. That's our play of the match, presented by the Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Great game there for Cody Baker. One more break here in the postmatch show, we'll come back and we'll talk about what's ahead for the

Sounders. The breather they finally get after these latest you know, three four weeks where they've had a lot of midweek matches. Now they get to breathe a little bit. We'll talk about the week ahead four year Sounders coming up next on the postmatch show. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome

As we are here at Emerald Queencasino Pitch at Lumen Field watching ol Rain come out and start training ahead of their match against the Pearl and Thorn's coming up in

just about forty five minutes. But four your Sounders, they don't have to play a midweek match. They get a full week off. Sounders are going to be heading to the East Coast to face Charlotte FC next Saturday, June tenth. That's gonna be a four o'clock kickoff at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. You can watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV and listen right here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR

FM. The Providence Swedish premat show will start at four o'clock next Saturday and listen from the Spanish language on La thirteen sixties. So you know what I mean, we'll go around the room here, dear. This is nice to actually a break for this team, a week off, chance to breathe a little bit and continue to improve on and get healthier from from what we've seen here over the last couple of weeks. Yeah, I mean, definitely that give a breather to to the teams, the players especially you know, to

see potentially a roll ready has play full nighty hopefully next next Saturday. Also, Christian Roldan had some minutes today and seeing him be back next Saturday, that's gonna be an interesting match, right. Charlotte is currently in seven place in the Eastern Conference. They have twenty one points. I've been to that stadium Bank of America and they put up like forty thousand people easily, right,

So it's it's a complicated field. Charlotte. They started, I would say, if the season, but they've been improving our last few games, so to me, it's gonna be a good challenge for branch Smetzer's team. Definitely. I think the Sounders they had some good results, especially playing away, so it is a good opportunity to get back on track and show why

the Sounders are one of the main contenders right for the MLS Cup. Yeah, Marcus, this next week, I mean Stephen Fry with Michelle talked about improving on what they've they've missed and certainly he said love to you know, nick A gole in and they didn't get that, but getting healthier on the offensive and we'll see about Jordan Morris and and just a nice chance for this team to kind of reset their brains coming out of you know, a draw in a four point week where you know, at least in my brain,

hey, at least it isn't the lost of Portland and so that's that's something. Yeah, And with the uh, you know, kind of makeshift lineup and we're missing you know, some key starters, it's not the worst result obviously, you know, and draw at home, but you know, ultimately

we want to see some exciting soccer. We want to see We're want to see chances on both ends and you know, the uh, the derby that we talked about just the game just didn't didn't quite produce that you know, that excitement that you know we're we're hoping for and I think a lot of the fans were hoping for. But ultimately it is it is the uh good result for the Sounders and you know a chance they got a week for get

these guys healthy and go back on the road. Absolutely, Pete, let's wrap it up by by quickly, you know, talking about something that Brian talked to us about yesterday and that's what we have coming up this double header today. You know, we we in our production mean, we were talking with Brian. He was saying that he loves these doubleheader games. It's a

great promotion of the sport of soccer. And then the atmosphere that we saw today with forty two thousand US it's a fun day in Seattle when we can do these events. Yeah, it certainly is. And the word he uses a celebration of soccer in the in the city. I'm watching Meghan Rapino warm up and she's been training at Seattle U for a couple of years now. Adrian Hanna were called and said, hey, Megan needs the grass, and so I did it one day with her. I said, Okay, I'm

gonna train you play the balls you need us. Megan, I can't do this anymore. I can't kick it hard enough for you. Uh, these are I'll tell you what the women's national team was at Seattle. You training years ago, Mia Hamm, Brandy Chastain, Michelle French. Right, it

was that team. Julie Foudy, right, Christine, Lily and Brian and I were standing there watching and and we're just there was a couple hundred people watching the training session, and it was it was it was Halloween, right, it was the thirty first, because I remember they all went out trigger treating that night in Queen Anne. But Brian Schwetzer said this, he said, these women are superstars, right, And I remember just kind of looking at him, going, yeah, you're right, you know, And so

we get them in front of us. We are very fortunate in our town. The only thing we're missing is the NBA. We've got the NFL, Major League Baseball, we've got women's NBA, we've got the women's Professional Soccer League. It's pretty cool. It's great, it's great for our community and fun that they are doing it. I love the fact that it's one ticket

for two games. I think that is class. And the fact that it's two clubs that don't really like each other, but they know they need each other and they know what's best for the game is to put these two games on in the same day. This could be a great tradition. Yeah, absolutely, you know, could continue to be as as we saw it a couple of years ago and here again this year. It's a wonderful event.

And if you're just getting into your cars and you're about to leave, and you heard Pete say it right there, one ticket to both around, come all right again, there's no reason to leave. You come and come back in and enjoy Rain Thorns. You already have the ticket for Sounders Timbers, coming and watch another fun time. I should mention the Rain have a heck of a history against the Thorns here in this building. They usually win. So come back in. This is the right now. The second place and

third place teams in the NWSL. This is a massive battle here for the top of the league. I mean last year ol Rain captured the regular season shield in NWSL, Thorn Scott the postseason championship. So these are the two teams of the class of this league. We'll see what happens coming up later today, but once again for your Sounders, it's a zero zero draw against the Portland Timbers. Today. We used the term a little bit like kissing

your sister. I think I think that's a little bit of an app description today. We aren't satisfied at the end of the day after four stray lost the Timbers. It's not a loss, so at least that's something I want to thank everybody with the broadcast today, Mitchell running everything back in the studio for KJR Terry Ryan here on side, Keeley Dunning, our broadcast director keeping

everything on the rails. A great call today from Danny Jackson and Steve Zakwane with Michelle Luck on the sideline who interviewed Stephen Fry at the start of the postgame show.
