Welcome to the Sounders FC pre mad Show presented by Provident Swedish. Tonight, you're Seattle Sounders FC face Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The Provident Swedish premad show starts now.

Speaker 2

Well good evening from Vancouver, British Columbia up here north of the border, here in Canada, where we are here with the Sounders preparing to face the white Caps here at beautiful BC Place. Welcome into the Sounders FC pre match Show presented by Providence Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Jackson Feltz alongside the coach, Pete Fwing and the man who's spent so many games and so many times scoring goals here at BC Place, Kellen Row.

We are here for the next half hour before Danny Jackson and Brad Evans call Sounders white Caps. We can spend some time a little bit, maybe throughout the pregame show talking and referencing the one nothing when the Sounders had against the Houston Dynamo back down.

Speaker 3

In Seattle alumin Fee over the weekend.

Speaker 2

But gentlemen, we have to start with just the fact that we are here at BC Place. It's always fun to be on the road for these broadcasts be in the stadium watching the Sounders warm up. They will of course being the Bruce Lee kids today facing the white Caps, watching these teams warm up here in Canada.

Speaker 3

Callen, as I mentioned.

Speaker 2

You've scored goals here, You've had many games here. What are your thoughts here a BC place where we are to Knights.

Speaker 3

Well, I'm just glad my mic works. I thought I figured my first away trip I coach would play some prank on me or something. As I talked through, maybe this isn't even in your head. So but it's exciting to kind of be back on the road again. Seeing the guys, you know, grab their coffees, go on their team walk and kind of chat with them a little bit. It brings me back a little bit, especially coming to a place like this where I had a lot of success both with Seattle and with New England.

Speaker 4

We'll tell you, you know, we just come here as a family right like forty years ago. And it's a great city for the Sounder fans. If you're going to pick a road trip to go on, I am wild impressed by Vancouver. It's just such a great city. We went walked around today and a beautiful day. Of course, the weather's great, but this is a really fun place to come and spend a weekend and watch our team play. So the guys are fired up. Boy, I feel like they are quite locked in seeing them getting off the

bus or seeing them around the hotel. They know that we're getting out of the end. Three games to go right, and this is a super important one because it's fifth, verse seventh. It's really a six point game, and they all know it, and they all know it, and they're and they're starting to get I feel like it's coming for them. And the Houston game was a terrific win, one nothing. I'm sure Brian would like a couple more goals, but they buried that one and now it's onto this one.

Speaker 3

Well, I'm sure you would have loved a little more possession in that second half. One nothing was a little bit frightening at times.

Speaker 2

But Callen, as we kind of before we move on to talk about this white Caps game. That Houston game, well let's continue talking about that. The great defensive effort that they had to close out and get that one nothing win on Saturday, Well, it's an important game, I think mentally as well for the whole team.

Speaker 3

You have to be able to close games out. It's not always gonna be pretty. Soccer. Teams are gonna figure out, teams are gonna you know, a player might not have the best game, but when you have your defense step up, when Stefan Fry steps up, and then leaders come together and you put together the last it could be twenty minutes, it could be the last forty five minutes, but it's

something that every team needs going into the playoffs. With that a little bit of confidence, especially on the defensive side. Now I'd love to see it on the attacking side as well. Can we get those you know, those half chances to be full chances. Can those full chances be goals instead of ones that Oh I wish I had that one back. You know, three games left against a

quality team. Now who's knocking at the door only three points behind with the game in hand, this is a huge game for the Sounders, not just to get a win, but to make a statement in the West.

Speaker 2

It's massive. Well, this is obviously a busy three game week. The Sounders had Houston the one nothing win Vancouver to night. Then they'll be on the road again facing the Colorado Rapids this Saturday, so busy, busy eight days, three games stretch. Here the question Pete that I think a lot of us had going into this match, especially fans, is what does Brian Spencer do with his delta starting eleven? Because with all the fixure congestion this specific eight day stretch,

do you rotate the lineup at all? So what is Brian doing with his delta starting eleven?

Speaker 4

Well, just one change and it was predicated on Pedro de la Vega's ability to play certain minutes, dictated by the fitness staff. Right, So for this one, it's very familiar with one change frying goal Alex roldn As you're right back, knew who your left back, Gomez Andrade reg and your center backs on the right. Georgie gets back on the field as a starter, his third start of the year. In the middle of the park. It's Christian and obed right in front of the back four, Paul

Rothrock on the left. Albert Rusnik will sit right under Jordan Morris.

Speaker 2

Okay, and your Sounders bench includes Nathan josh Atensio, Pedro de Levega, we just mentioned, Jonathan Bell, Danny Mazowski, read Baker Y Andrew Thomas, Dannie Weeva and Dylan TeVeS quickly that we'll get into the province of the Swedish team health report. Ju alpollow out with a calf injury. Rolridez was questionable with a knee injury. He is not available. Today's team health report is presented by Providence, Swedish official

healthcare partner of Sounders FC. But callen one change from Saturday. Brian rolling with his guys. I'll be a pedro for Georgie, but rolling with the ten right there and expecting another good result.

Speaker 3

This is the time of the season when it's crunch time and you're gonna go with your guys. And coach has been through this many of times. Even if you have hard games back to back, you trust your guys and you trust the guys that have gotten you this far. And I think in this league you have that first bit of the season to kind of get your fitness. Rotate some guys. Middle of the middle of summer as well,

it's hot, e'st a lot of travel. Now come into crunch time, it's it's eleven guys to maybe thirteen, maybe thirteen because of injuries, because of performances, whatever, it may be. And now with the the weird you know way we've been handling the Pedro de la Vega, I'm not convinced on it yet. I think it should have been. You know, I want to see him get multiple games in a row. I want to see him go closer to ninety than he has been.

Speaker 2

Yep.

Speaker 3

I understand that we want to keep him around and we want to keep him on the field and healthy. And that's something that you know, the fitness staff knows a lot of the ins and outs that we don't know. But you know, coach, what would you think And if you're in Brian's position, when you finally get this, this your your player, you know, the one that's supposed to come in and do all the work for you. And he's finally getting back to fitness, he's finally getting some

game time. The guys are starting to play well with him, and then you have to betch him right well.

Speaker 4

And this is this is predetermined by the conditioning staff, the fitness staff. They're the ones who say, this is what he can do because he's been so stop. Start play a little bit, have an injury, play a little bit, have an injury. They're very very cautious, especially now. And if they can continue, if they need him today, they'll use him. If they don't, it's money in the bank because then they can use him in the next one at Colorado. So I's in a bit of a tough spot.

One of the things that his winds are at. His hands are a little tied. So and then Georgie did incredibly well. I thought, he's just such a spark. You got two guys, two raw guys on the wings with I don't want to say Rothrock's raw anymore. I think that's the narrative from a lot. I love Rothrock on the left, and you got two guys on the outsides who cause problems and they create things and they make things happen. So I'm excited to see those two guys

do their job. But the one thing that's fun listening to you kill and talk about this time of the year, these guys are fit. Our guys are fit, and they're in rhythm right, and and that takes some time to get there. And just even seeing the guys together today, you see Morris, the two rolled on Russneck and they're all kind of walking down the street and I'm I'm a long ways away from them, and I'm just watching them, and they're an insynct group right now. They're a cohesive

group right now. You know redis isn't in, isn't traveling. You know, there's an injury for him. So they've they know the group they have and so I think they're in a decent spot. But to your point or to your question, I don't think Brian can play him right now. Maybe he can get him on the bench.

Speaker 3

With that group that you were just talking about, that Jordan Morris, the Christian roll done, who's really been that you know, that rock when Joe Paul goes got moved out and then he allows Ovid Vargas to kind of be himself. But Jordan Morris and Alan Rusnak is the group that we talked about a lot in that summer window where we just went on a run, and I want to see that, you know, three games left. Can

those two get back on a roll? Can you can you find Jordan in the back of the neck consistently? Can can Albert find the ball and continue to make things happen? I mean, I know that there's an assist record coming up there right right right there away yeah, he's two away, Yeah, three away geez. So you know, look, I want to see those two get back from their rhythm because that is when the Sounders were their best.

And if they can do that with three games left going into the playoffs, that's a dangerous team to come come into the playoffs. What I love about.

Speaker 2

Jordan is the fact that you know, you know, Kellen, a couple of years ago when you played, Jordan wouldn't play three times in eight days. You get a credit to Jordan and a credit to the conditioning staff, to the entire staff building up his whether it's stamina, building up has athleticism, to the ability now to play three times in eight days that he has done a number of times this season and based on him starting again today,

I would assume gonna do again this week. Yes it's crunch time, but it is really the Jordan, the new Jordan Morris Racine where he can easily go three times in eight days and he has the ability to do that.

Speaker 4

And I love that you brought that up. So the fans have to recognize that, because Brian Schmetzer does. He says, that's been a three year process. And when you go back to the COVID year, Jordan was frustrated that he was getting pulled out of games. You say, no, I can go further, I can go longer. But for him to be able to do that and there's a great result and that he's got thirteen goals then three assists because of that.

Speaker 3

But yeah, good for Jordan.

Speaker 4

He's in his prime right now and he's a regular starter and wants to stay on the field. And you know there's a thing about you gotta form and then norm and then storm and then perform your team. And he's in that performing mode where there's no question that he's he's the starter, right, that's been sold eight games ago, ten games ago. Right, He's the guy who's gonna go in. It's not a battle between he and Ruy Diaz. So

but again, Bryan Schpetzer said it this morning. Hey, this is a credit to Hillary, to Chris Cornish, to all the the the behind the scenes staff on the fitness side and the medical side, because the guy with two acls.

Speaker 3

And you know, I'll give credit to Jordan as well. Jordan's yea. Sometimes Jordan's hands were tied the whole time as well. Jordan is not the one to say I don't want to play on the Wednesday gaming to write with that travel that's that's not Jordan at all. He's saying, I have a chance to one score a goal, compete to play this game that I love, and we can help us, you know, help the team win. I want to be in And that's always his attitude and I love that. The fact that he's gotten over the two

ACL surgeries, now had a kid. You know, how has a one, you know, his wife and kid over the last few years. This is a guy who's starting his whole life and now competing and playing as hard as he can and being the number one forward for the Seattle Sounders after such a long stretch of the life. We're gonna change around the pre mat show a little bit.

Speaker 2

It's the Marchers today. Kate Cronin, Chief brand Officer of Maderna tells us about the advantages the speed of audio production affords their growing tech company.

Speaker 6

At Maderna, we have a mindset saying that we pivot fearlessly, and I think with audio you can pivot fearlessly. You can go where the news is and bringing in content that perhaps you didn't have a few weeks earlier. It's less six months in advantage or three months in Evans.

When you do a TVC you're able to create really nimble content, which I think in this day and age, and particularly at Maderna, where we have new information coming out on a regular basis, being able to feed that information to the audio format makes being nimble and pivoting easy.

Speaker 2

Normally, in our second segment of the pregame show, we always do this sharp vision opponent, Alec. We're gonna switch things up. We're gonna get to talking about Vancouver in a few minutes. We have to continue talking about the Seattle Sounders because one thing that just kind of came down the news. We first saw it off of Obed Vargas's Instagram That's where I first saw it. Various social media things here and there, but the news is official.

Obed Vargas has been called up to the Mexican national team, the senior team. In late August, he was named to the U twenty three team, and now a month and a half later, he has made the senior team for the Mexico national team. He'll be with them for a game against funny enough, the United States coming up later this month down in Mexico. I mean, Callen, what an incredible opportunity for the kid. What have been incredible last couple of months where he turned nineteen years old, you

twenty three's senior team. This kid's living the dream right now.

Speaker 3

I can know that moment because I remember the call that I got from Bruce Arena, and it was just incredible. Because your heart stops a little bit, you have a big smile, on your face. You're not sure what to say. And so I'm guessing Ovid Vargas had a similar reaction, and I'm guessing his family was right there with him

or not. They were his first call. It's it's a big move for him because he declared that he was gonna play for the Mexican national team, gets called up right away to the under twenty threes, and just one camp later, gets called up to the senior team and he's starting and playing and playing very well because Dallas sounders instantly. This is a year of Ovid Vargas. This is a year where he's gaining that confidence. He's maturing

as a player and as a person. You could see that the young kid that was brought in to play that first game he I believes in Austin and just to run around and be, you know, have fun, is now the guy that they look to to find the ball in the midfield, they look to to make a good tackle and start this break. He is no longer that little kid anymore.

Speaker 4

Well, we're just watching him evolve. It's wonderful And to your point, I mean, that's a that's a pretty gutsy, courageous move to say Hey, no, I want to go and switch from US to the Mexican national team. Start with the youth group and now he's in with the big boys. He's not in with after one camp. After one camp tells you an awful lot. So you know what he is. He has had a man's physique since he was fifteen sixteen years old. Talk about a kid who looks the part. We see him now dribbling out

of danger. We see him putting his foot on the ball, changing the point of attack. Some of the tree passes he's made into Jordan Morris this year have been phenomenal. And he's got seven assists. Yeah, I mean that really, When you see that stat, you think, holy Collen, he scored a great goal, you know, six seven, eight games ago. But the seven assists, to me, he quietly has had

some tremendous productions. So good for him. Awesome that he's getting in with the marquee players for the Mexican national team, and it's wonderful he's gonna play against the US.

Speaker 3

I think I spoke with them, maybe it was back in May or June, and we already kind of saw the way the year was going for him, Like okay, this is as Kellen, as you said, this is the year of Ovid Vargas. We saw it earlier. I remember asking him, what are your what are your correspirations?

Speaker 17

What do you want?

Speaker 2

And instantaneously he said Europe And this is this is a kid who wants to play at a very very high level and now being able to go on the stage for the Mexican national team, the senior team facing the United States. Obviously there's the Club World Cup next year. We'll see, you know, hopefully he's still here. Obviously the World Cup in two years, you'd think he'll be on Mexico's squat for that. I mean that the future is

Obed Vargas. Just it's the question of how much we get to see him being rave green because he has his sights set on the biggest lights and we'll see if he eventually gets there.

Speaker 3

But so cool for Obed Vargas.

Speaker 2

And what a couple of months to turn nineteen U twenty three and now the Mexican national senior team where he will play with them against the USA later this month. We'll take a break here on the Emerald Queen Casino countingdown to kickoff on the Providence We just premat show and we will talk about the Vancouver white Caps. We are here at BC Place in Canada. We're about to watch Sounders white Caps. We'll talk about the hosts. Coming up next on Sports Radio nine to fifty KJR AM.

Speaker 3

Welcome back to North of the Border. We're up here at BC Place here.

Speaker 2

In Vancouver where the Sounders are preparing to face the Vancouver white Caps.

Speaker 3

We're out here looking and it's funny. They have just like this do They are also having a fifty year celebration here in Vancouver. They've wheeled out a large five zero soccer ball making the zero podium here to midfield as they are preparing to celebrate their fifty or they are celebrating their fiftieth year, and they're doing an extra little celebration today here at BC Plays. It's very cool to be here here in Canada for this game. Very easy trip, I'll echo what Pete said earlier in the

prematch show, A very very easy trip. I say, eight minutes at the border crossing today.

Speaker 2

Fun trip and this is an awesome city and hopefully all the white Caps fans will be sad come a couple hours from right now.

Speaker 3

But it's time for our Sharp Vision opponent ALEC.

Speaker 2

Tonight's taking a look at tonight's hosts in these Vancouver white Caps. The opponent ALC is presented by Sharp Vision Modern LEAs Can Lens, the official Lasik provider of Sounders FC. SO Vancouver has been busy, really really really busy today is their sixth game in nineteen days they have played ton This is the final game of this nineteen day stretch where they have played five before they've had actually

a pretty good record. They won the Canadian Championship one week ago tonight, but yet they are working on perhaps some tired legs. They're seventh place in the Western Conference, forty seven points back, three points back, as Callen mentioned, of Seattle right now at fifty points. But Callen, they're missing a big piece in Ryan Gold tonight.

Speaker 3

But still a team.

Speaker 2

Anytime you're playing on the road, you're facing a dangerous opponent who wants to take this game.

Speaker 3

And get right back up to Seattle spot. This is a team that's going in basically playing cup games from the rest of the season. Yeah, they just got done winning the Canadian Cup. They continue to play against Portland for part of the Cascadia Cup and then once again here against Seattle again for a championship and another cup in the Cascadia Cup. So these guys have they know it's at stake, they know it's crunch time for them,

and as they're pushed forward. Even though you win the Canadian Cup, you're sitting seventh in the playoffs, they know that they've got games in hand and that they need to push forward. And I think even with Ryan gald being out and who's obviously the man who kind of makes everything happen, he's their magic. He's the one that continuously is going because he's a fifteen assist now, which also breaks their record which was thirteen previously, and he's

still continuing to go. And so Ryan gald out is going to be huge for the Sounders and rough for the Vancouver white Caps. However, you also have a guy in Brian White who continuously scores goals and continues to scores goals against Seattle Sounders, and so that's gonna be a fun matchup as we continue to talk about that with the Jackson, Reagan, Yamark Gomez Andrade because for me, those two are very physical in the back. However, Brian White loves physicality, he loves He's very similar to a

Will Bruin Will. He'll he'll body and spin you in many ways, and he's strong and physical and then willing to fight. And I think that's going to cause a little bit of trouble with those guys who also like being physical.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I think that's the biggest matchup that concerns Brian Schweitzer is is white versus Jack reg and he's got fifteen goals to assists, and then Piccoldez has nine goals five assists. I mean, these guys have some weapons. Berholter, former national team coach's kid, has got two goals five assists. It's a it's a decent team. They're gonna play with a three to five two. They'll overload the midfield and then when they're defending they drop into a four to

four to two. So they're a team that's fluid. I'll tell you what. Sartini has done a really good job with this team. You know, they've been so up and down with different coaches for many many years. He's they players want to play for him, and he's firing on the sidelines. He brings some grit. To your point, that's a lot of games in eighteen nineteen days. So you know, winning the Cup, the equivalent of the US Open Cup, is a great thing and it's a big high. Now

they've got a rebound to get ready. Vancouver has to get ready for this one tonight.

Speaker 3

Well, you mentioned Vanny Sartini. He's one of the most unique people in this entire league. The Italian coach. A week ago when they won the Canadian Championship, he went to his supporters here in what I think that's the eastern side of the stadium and ripped his shirt off and is waving it around and going crazy.

Speaker 2

He is a very very unique personality. Before we take a break, well, obviously we mentioned Brian White. We know Kellen he's gonna be starting at the top of this formation. But what else is Vanny Sartini putting in his starting lineup today?

Speaker 3

Hind goal, you have tach Yoka in the back as a back three, Laborida Vessel, Miss Blackman, and then the five midfielders you have Berhalter, as coach said, Bite, Kubas, Shoff and at A Kube and then up to the two up top would be Cult and the dangerous one Brian Red.

Speaker 2

Yeah, we'll see Hanave attack and defend and some very good pieces including Brian White up there. So you're gonna be hearing Danny Jackson Brad Evans say those names a lot here tonight, will take one more break here in the pre match show. We'll come back and give you the Sounders keys to the match, how they can get out of here at BC Place with three points and

also give you our players to watch. Still a lot to get to before we get to kickoff, which is just about ten minutes away here on sports Radio Ninem.

Speaker 21

Gentlemen, before we get to some Keys to the match, we gotta be quick about this. Who's your player to watch?

Speaker 3

Kellen? I was really hoping that Coach would come back and finish a story on air like that. Okay, Mike, my keep no. My player would be Jackson. Look, he's gonna have a hard time. We've seen mature throughout the whole season. Just sign a new contract? Can he handle physicality and the goal scoring? Brian Wright?

Speaker 4

For me, it's Ovid Vargas just got the big call up. How does he respond? What does that give him today? Can he creates something? Canna get his eighth, maybe ninth assists?

Speaker 3

Jordan Morris.

Speaker 2

I think we're seeing him play three times in eight days, seeing this second game be a strong one and scoring need to score against Vancouver.

Speaker 3

I think you're a night very quickly. Keys to the Match go ahead, Kellen. They got to contain Brian White, and then I want to see guys like Albert Rusnak and Jordan Morris find the back of the net or find and create something going forward.

Speaker 4

Yeah, it's the defensive side, but then on the other side, I'd love to see these wingers really tear it up. Love to see Georgie tear it up with a great final The final pass is very important and Paul Rothrock the same. So flank play get the Baltimores. But defense, we've got some power up front with their two strikers, so we've got to make sure we shut them down. Another shutout would be phenomenal. As we get near the end of the season.

Speaker 3

Vancouver with a win wins the Cascadia Cup. Sounders trying to deny them of that.

Speaker 2

Three games left in the MLS regular season, and it will begin this final final stretch here against the Vancouver white Caps. It's awesome to be at peer at BC plays. Speaker 11

Good evening from BC Place in Vancouver, BC, where your Sounders take on longtime Cascade arrival Vancouver white Caps.

Speaker 9

Three games to go and all to play for.

Speaker 11

Vancouver have enjoyed another solid season under Vanni Sartini. They have already qualified for the playoffs and are now seeking a final push up the standings.

Speaker 9

The top four will have home field advantage in the first.

Speaker 11

Round, and Vancouver are sitting in seventh position coming into tonight's games, just three points from Colorado in fourth. For the Sounders, they punched their ticket into the playoffs before kicking a ball.

Speaker 9

Last weekend. A flurry of results.

Speaker 11

Went their way, but they still took care of business with a comfortable one nil win against Houston. Sitting in fifth coming into tonight's games and just two points away from second place, the Sounders have the opportunity, depending on other results, to leap three places in the standings with three points tonight. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders captain Brad Evans for the call tonight.

Speaker 9

Before we get to Brad for his initial thoughts, let's get you the Delta.

Speaker 11

Starting eleven for your Sounders of one change for Brian Schmetzer in his lineup, Stephan Fryans about four of rolled on Yamar Reagan knew who Obed Vargas continues to play alongside Christian rolled On in the middle of the field. Georgia Menungo coming on that right hand side for Pedro de la Vega, who sits on the bench tonight.

Speaker 9

Rosneck in the ten.

Speaker 11

Paul rothrock goalscorer this past weekend, plays on the left hand side, and then Jordan Morris up front. The Vanni Sartini a three to four to three we expect to see from their team tonight. Takeyokring gaal, the back three of Lavorda, Besdillonovich and Blackman, a midfield four of shop Kubas, Berhalter and Vite and attacking three of Pico Addie Cugby

and fifteen Goldman Brian White so Brad. As the teams get ready to go here this big Cascaded Cup game, the Sounders need to take care of business to make sure they still have a chance to win it.

Speaker 9

But what do they need to do tonight?

Speaker 17

Yeah, Look, I think, like you said, the results went the Sounders way this past weekend and tonight a little bit different. The results not necessarily as of right now, going in the Sounders way. So it's all about the team getting the job done tonight. What do they need to do. They got to get off to a fast start once again, just like they tried to do against Houston, but then it took them really twenty minutes to get into that game. And it gets a good side at

home in Vancouver. You can't wait till the twenty thirtieth minute to get your game in full form. You have to come out ready to play. And if there was ever a time to beat a Vancouver side, tonight is a night when they're missing a couple of key players, just like Houston was right that was the time to play Houston and them missing two players as well. So

tonight is about the Sounders getting the job done. Like you said, one change, and that's Georgie Manonga in the lineup, so look for him to make a big impact, especially if Vancouver does defend. Also in the three to five to two, it'll be interesting to see how they come out tactically when attacking and also win defending against a guy like Manoole with so much speed in those channels.

Speaker 11

Well, if you haven't already heard the sound system here, it might be the loudest in MLS, is absolutely deafening.

Speaker 9

And then thereabouts get kicked off, Pico has the in the center spot. Referee blows is whistle.

Speaker 28

To get this Cascadia game going in front of a crowd that still continue to get in to the stands Wednesday night game of course, so sometimes they're slow to get into the stands, getting their last drinks.

Speaker 9

Inside the concourses.

Speaker 11

So the ball gets cleared out of bounds by Yemar, who was a rock in the last game against.

Speaker 9

Houston team of the match day.

Speaker 11

He was for all his clearances and blocks helped Stephan Fry and the goal tonight get another clean sheet on the season. And for Sounders, they're in there, Bruce Lee kit. They're away kit. We haven't seen that in a while. Have been in the anniversary kit for so many games. Red shirts, black shorts, black sots. They're attacking the Gold to our left and then Vancouver in their traditional white shirts with a navy blue stripe in the middle, blue

shorts and white socks. The ball gets knocked down the line skips out of bounds.

Speaker 17

Well, I think to your point, you know, Stephan Fry, it was a one nil win, another shutout, but that was only the second one nil win for the Sounders this season, They've only had two an entire season, and that I had to look that up because I was curious when the last time they won a won nothing game, and it was back in July, and then before that it didn't happen at all. So how do you win really close games? And that's what the Sounders need to

put together. And you saw it in the first part of the season, the worst start for the Sounders in its history in MLS era, and that was a credit to a lot of red cards as well. When you think about it, right, you can't necessarily win a bunch of games when you don't have the appropriate players on the field. But they've got to figure out a way entering these playoffs to win one nothing games away from home.

And if they can do that, they give themselves a good chance, regardless if they have the two game home advantage or the two game away schedule in the playoffs.

Speaker 9

Well, for Houston, they were no strangers to one zil games of one goal games.

Speaker 11

They had twenty in the season so far, nineteen coming into last week's game against the Sounders. That was that twentieth not always been successful. Ten wins ten losses from those games, but certainly for the Sounders, they took care of business and other than an early fright on Stephan Fry's goal, with all that possession, Houston hat Sounders really managed to blunt their attack as the ball goes in behind, but Jordan Morris just skips through attack. Yokuin goal played

every game so far, clears his lines. He's decked out in all purple strikes. The ball ball bounces underneath rolled Down's foot, picked up by Vite middle of the park. Of course, he scored a goal in twenty twenty three when Vancouver won two nil with that own goal from Stephan Fry. As the ball gets skip by nw who just fakes the header, bounces through. It's going to be a goal kick early on in this game, Neil nil.

Speaker 17

That's one of those ones where you're an attacker and you think knew who's going to go up and win that one, and all is a little shimmy shaken. He throws you off and you kind of look silly as that one rolls out of bounds. But this turf, just like roll Don's last touch. This turf, yes, it's similar to luminfield, but it's always been different. It's a little

bit more bouncy in the way that it sits. It's a little bit more like Montreal's turf away from home, and I think you've played, probably played there number of times in the USL days as well, just plays a little bit different. It's the blades are thinner, it's not necessarily that bright green color as well, and that's always a challenge coming in here. So it's up to you in the pregame to get out and get on that field.

Speaker 11

Here's Pico down the left hand side, breaks the initial line of defense for the Sounders, but held up well by Vargas. Coming back to help ball towards Addie. Kugby knocks the ball on the six, cleared well by Jackson Reagan. Of course, as we mentioned the last broadcast, last Week's signed his new long term contract ties him to the Sounders.

Speaker 9

For the next three plus years.

Speaker 11

So good to see Craig Wiball and Adrian and Brian getting taking care of business early, locking him down for the years to come. He's been an ever present in the last couple of years in the back line alongside Yema. The ball comes in long throw headed clear by Yam on top of the box. It lands Berholter goes in clashes into roth Rock top of the box. It's going to be a free kick for the Sounders, but that's

going to be a painful one for for Paul. Of course, big smiles in his face walking around the hotel today. I saw him just before the team's boarded the bus and certainly full of confidence. Of course, got the game winner against Houston, his fourth goal on his campaign at that to US Open Cup goals and League Cup goals as well. It's been a real breakout year for young

Paul Rothrock. And I know Brad, you and Steve have often talked about Paul and his contribution this year on your podcast, but certainly his superseded expectations.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 17

It certainly was a guy that you know, thought was just going to come in and play some spot minutes here and there and really light a fight fire under Lao Chew. And when Pedro de la Vega was supposed to ply that position gets injured, then Paul Rothrock was

meant to be a supplement. But you know, when you work hard and you get on the end of crosses that are put into the box and you put yourself in the right position you're often rewarded, and Schmett said that today, like, no, this kid's going to start right. He's earned it. He's obviously lit a spark under the team is at a co incidents that, you know, the Sounders kind of went on a run when Paul was introduced to the lineup, and and guys kind of were

feeding off that. But like you said, he's a guy who's got a smile on his face all the time, and you like to see that.

Speaker 9

Speaking of a guy that has a smile in his face.

Speaker 11

Georgie Manunga picks the ball that plays it out to Alex Rolled on farside the Sounders right Sounds attacking the goal to our left. Jackson Reagan, who's always the first point of attack for the Sounders. It's really showing his passing abilities over the last couple of months, spring the ball around Bran Schmetzer, giving him that license to do

that break Lions. The ball gets switched this near side ball to picked up well by New who did that so well against Houston as well, driving forward across the half way line, picked up by Peacock coming back to Hell. But Rothrock gets a little ball into New inside the box, cluts it back stripe by Georgie over the top.

Speaker 9

Really good breaking transition for the Sounders. Ball goes over the top. It's gonna be a goal, Kate.

Speaker 11

We may nil nil, but Bret Evans the Sounds are showing that threat going forward.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 17

Well, as you see this play develop here, it actually start. You know. Oftentimes when you watch the Sounders play against a three to five to two, they sit with five in the back like LAFC and really make it difficult for Jordan to go one against three. But defensively, even Vancouver happy to sit in that three five to two and the outside winger is actually tucking in to force that ball that Yamar played and it's a quick turnover from the Sounders. But then all of a sudden, good interchange.

Anytime you switch that ball, you're always if you underhit it, the defender is always gonna come in and steal that new who does it in perfect fashion. It's a good interchange. And Georgie just doesn't wrap his foot around that one to get it on the frame.

Speaker 11

He comes Vancouver slides it towards Addie Kukby rolls out of bounds.

Speaker 9

There is Shop trying to find his left winger. It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Well sound as FC Soka is presented by a Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC.

Speaker 9

Perfect day. Here in Vancouver, people out and about.

Speaker 11

Slowly coming into tonight's game, and the Sounder is if they can get a win tonight. It sets up sets the stage perfectly for Decision Day, not only the last game of the MLS regular season, but the opportunity for the Sounders to win Cascadia Cup. Vancouver won it last year, they're looking to win again. Two on the bounce hasn't happened since twenty thirteen fourteen. Sounds, of course have had

three back to back before Portland and mccouver. So here comes Rosneck, driving forward, finds Rothrock inside the box outside their foot clips off Rothrocks heels. It's going to roll over the end line, but good chance for the Sounders lost opportunity the top of the box.

Speaker 9

It's gonna be a goal kick with may'nil.

Speaker 17

Now, as you watch this one build up for Vancouver, everyone has shifted one side. Burhalter has been asked a lot to tuck inside when the Sounders are building out on that right hand side, and it's a good switching play from Alex all Don recognizing and it's the patien's here from Jackson Reagan as he builds this play up, and I thought Rusnak saw Georgie Jordan makes us run and kind of curves it like we wanted him to

on the weekend. It comes across and that's space. Throw a right footed pass into Georgie's on but Rusnak decides to go to Paul Rothrock there and just unlucky to take that one off the knee and go off for a Vancouver goalkick. But good interchange from the sounder. It looked almost too easy. It was really a to B two C in that moment and really allowing Vancouver, allowing the Sounders just to get in the right spot and connect some passes.

Speaker 11

Early on he comes Vancouver down the left hand side the far side. We shop a pressure from Ovid Vargas, of course, celebrating his inclusion in the Mexico national team, the main men's national team.

Speaker 17

He was in the.

Speaker 11

Younger team last time, got involved in camp with the senior team and now gets called up and of all games a set of games, one of them being against the US down in Mexico. So I think Obed talked about it this week. He said it's kind of the pinnacle of his career. Made the decision to go to Mexico earlier on this year, and now it gets rewarded with that call up.

Speaker 17

Yeah. Look is a guy who made his decision at such a young age to make that switch, and he's been rewarded for it. He's been so good throughout the past couple of years for the Sounders, stepping in, you know, at a young age, getting some spot minutes and now being probably our best player in the middle of midfield, the most consistently, so durable, And that's what you want out of your number six. You got to play a ton of games, and at his age already to have

racked up as many games as he has. No wonder that Mexico's called him in and maybe it's a new start for Mexico, right, maybe he does see significant minutes in there. I don't want to see him go in there and just ride the bench and just have that experience. I think he's bigger and better than that as a player, So I hope that he goes in as his own player and he doesn't get you know, like he said

in the press, this is the biggest moment. I don't want him to be shell shocked and to be you know, star studded and really just sit back and let the guy's control. He needs to play his game. Obviously, I hope the US wins too. Nothing, but at the end of the day, it's fantastic for obed well.

Speaker 11

Sound has continue to turn the corner in the season. They got off to a slow start. Certainly some results against Vancouver didn't go their way, one of them being that two mier loss earlier in the season when sound has got a couple of red cards, one of them being regan and then rolled on. But Sounders have bounced back ten to two and two in the last fourteen games. That's coming to the tonight's games. That's the most points

over that period of time in MLS. So Sounders again finding form at the right time, and it comes Jordan Morris inside the box speaking of a player who's found his form.

Speaker 9

Cuts it back.

Speaker 11

Good defending eventually by Vstillonovitch just gonna be over the end line for first corner kick of the game for the Sounders.

Speaker 17

Once again, the Sounder is able to just walk through this Vancouver defense. And there's one game in twenty fourteen I think I remember playing up here where it felt like everything went right for us, but at the end of the day, it was the finished product. It was Chad Barrett getting on the end of a couple of goals. And that's what it feels like tonight so far. Vancouver happy to just let Yaymar and those out of the back just play one, two touches and then all of

a sudden, the Sounders are in behind. It's a good ball from Georgia Benoungo here and Jordan does what Jordan does so well, and that to utilize his speed. Just unlucky here.

Speaker 11

We'll go short to roll down fastide the right back to a Roznck in solid distribution.

Speaker 9

Vargas has the top of the box, strikes it and it takes a nick. It's gonna be a goal kick.

Speaker 11

Looked like it took us light deflection did not. The referee is right there. It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. And for the Sounders they go into Colorado on the weekend again, the games all around them have the run In last week against Houston.

Speaker 9

They jumped Houston with that win. Of course, Vancouver sitting just.

Speaker 11

A couple of spots behind them coming into today's games and then go into Colorado or right there and there as well.

Speaker 9

So again, play an altitude, tough place to play.

Speaker 11

The Sounders really have the opportunity to push themselves into the very top positions. Get in the top four, you get a home game in the first round, and then anything can happen.

Speaker 17

Well, the Sounders have to press here because it looks like Vancouver is just letting them play. They can get one here early on in this one. I think it'll be a good night for the Sounders. And like you said, they have to get points now, home field advantage.

Speaker 11

As Georgie just wriggles free knocks it around, added Kugby, Addie Cookby goes down, that's gonna be a yellow card for Addie Kokeby. And that's an SGB yellow card when a foul is called, SGB trial lawyers are here to help. There's an SGB dash law dot com at Georgie still on the ground. Took a good knot there towards the end line, just outside the eighteen yard box. But that's the positivity you want from an outside player, just drops his shoulder, goes past him.

Speaker 9

Addie Kobe has to pull him down.

Speaker 17

Well, I hope this is foreshadowing for Georgie's career moving forward, because that's the only way that someone is gonna stop you, because if you don't commit the foul. There, Georgie's inside the eighteen and he lifts his head and it's an easy slip ball that's gonna danger Tago ooga and goal. And so you know you have to take an early yellow card in this one. I've been victim to those in many many games. And now it sets set up the Sounders just outside the eighteen where that ten yard

mark hash is from the cornerkick. This one's just got to be driven.

Speaker 11

Here's Rosneck does drive it along the six, cleared up and away by White doing his defensive duties back from his number nine spot. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. They went short last time. We'll see if Rosnick whips one in from there, Sounders right with his right foot.

Speaker 9

Big men of still up.

Speaker 11

Yamar Reagan of course rolled on and Morris good in the air as well.

Speaker 9

Morris of course scored a good number of goals in his head this year as he did last year.

Speaker 11

As Rosa puts one arm up, four players in around the peak spot looking to make their run.

Speaker 9

Georgie is sitting on the goalkeeper. Ball comes in. It is Morris. Georgie gets his first goal for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Bundlesn't in off his thigh and the sound has taken early lead and it's the smile of Georgie.

Speaker 9

We can see it from up here and the Sounders go up one nil.

Speaker 17

That's a fantastic ball from Rusnak, just where you want it, and Jordan is the one that rises up. Jordan's got two Vancouver defenders on him one time here, just splits the difference and knocks it where you should. You have to head that ball to the ground, and it's everyone else's job to put their body where it needs to be. And that's anticipation versus reaction from Georgia. He's anticipating that Jordan's gonna knock that ball down. Just let me get

myself in the right spot. And that's his first MLS goal there and you love to see it in the celebration afterwards. Early on in this one, I think we said, the atmosphere in here from minute one has been nothing like he said. The loudest thing in here was a sound system and as soon as that shut off, Mancouber Whitecaps fan not bringing much of a way of an atmosphere that the Sounders have certainly created their own. And that's the way you want to start this one away from home.

Speaker 11

Great start for the Sounders here in the fifteenth minute to take a one. They'll lead and I've all play as Georgie Minonger gets his start today, his third start as a Sounder. His first start happened when he was still a Defiance player. Then early on after signing that first team contract just a handful of weeks ago, he got his first start is out.

Speaker 9

The number of a k come off the bench and made impacts.

Speaker 11

Today gets the start in place at de la Vega and then executes on that good head of for Morris from the corner kick, and you know we're standing up he brat smiling. We know Georgie must be just beaming. His family watching from a farm sure of beaming as well. And I can imagine Brian Schmittz and must have a huge smile in his.

Speaker 9

Face as well.

Speaker 11

He talked about how much he respects Georgie and his passion, his commitment to the game, and he continues to work so hard.

Speaker 17

Yeah, look, I think it's a guy who's put in the work. You come to Seattle, you play for defiance, and the dream is always to make that jump, and not a lot of players do. Maybe it's one or two a year that really make that jump and play significant minutes. And his journey was a little bit different. You only have a certain amount of loans that you

can play before the team has to sign you. Georgie is a guy that's owned by a club in Africa, and it gets a little bit convoluted, and what you have to pay what you know, what is the payment further down the line. But the Sounders are able to make it happen. They saw enough of him to say that he's going to make it be a difference maker, and he is going to make a difference and he

has so far. I'll tell you what. You do a lot of shooting after practice, and you always dream about your first goal is going to be a right foot and I'm gonna bend it into the back corner. You never dream that's going to be a tap in with your you know your right or left thigh on the goal line, but you take them right. You'll always remember your first.

Speaker 11

As we say, right, the box school has one thing in it. It doesn't have a twenty five yard rocket. It says the last name and the minute you score. So for Georgia Munungo, as he stands on the far side the right waiting for the ball to come his way, he makes the difference.

Speaker 9

Tonight Sounder is leading one goal to nil.

Speaker 11

Here in the seventeenth minute, ball gets not long by Fry, headed up in the air. Bargas goes up undercut by shop fans grown moan, But it's gonna be a Sounders free kick. Certainly for the sound as they've come out the gates flying in these early minutes, it's taken a good commanding position in this game. Of course, if they get three points, it shifts him up to fifty three points in the standings.

Speaker 9

We'll get to some of those results as a full slate of games.

Speaker 11

Today already started Miami going into Columbus doing what the Sounders did, got three points.

Speaker 9

That elevates them above and beyond and out of reach. Are they're gonna win?

Speaker 11

The supporters shield Messi getting the first two goals, is Buddy Suarez getting the third, and they're three to two win at Columbus may come the Sounders.

Speaker 9

Can they find their second goal?

Speaker 11

The one thing that's eluded them in these past few games is getting that important second goal. Ball gets whipped in by Georgie far and wide, and it's going to roll through to this near side. Vancouver's right by the Bordo's gonna smash it towards White. Good ball good headed by White retains possession with Pico middle of the park. A little bit of pressure from the Sounders eleven men

work themselves back behind the balls. The blackman far side is added Cugby on a yellow card of course against Georgie.

Speaker 9

From that ensuing free kick and then corner kick, the Sounders founder has found their goal.

Speaker 11

Is Vesselovitch captains out this near side to Burholter, son of former US men's national team coach Greg Burholter, who rumors have it will be back in MLS. It's Blackman picks it up. Sound As just managing the game now, just allowing Vancouver to have possession in certain areas of the field. Well, this copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the

express written consent of Major League Soccer. So, Brad, we talked about the difference between Portland Timber Sounders games where it's just fire. We'll get to your comment a minute, but here come Vancouver. Right inside is Burholter, good strike, good say, picked up, good block by Alex rolled on off Pico's follow up.

Speaker 9

It's like, there's gonna be a go kick, get it off side. We'll see, but it's gonna be a Sounders ball on the deck.

Speaker 17

Bred.

Speaker 11

Let me get to you a comment. Vancouver Portland cascady rivals. Vancouver celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year as well as the Sounders in San Jose. Portland will be next year. But the Portland Timbers games always have a bit more spice. This one feels certainly a different feel and the crowd certainly is presenting that tonight.

Speaker 17

Yeah, look it's Wednesday night as well. But it is strange how you know, Vancouver has had a very good year, and you think that would be a bit more of an atmosphere in here tonight, and you know it just has never had that same bite, right, I played down here in twenty seventeen, I think was the last time I played here. And I'm coming off the field into the locker room there and the fans are chanting, who

are yea, who are yeah? And I just go up and I say, yeah, I'm Brad, and they're like, all right, good, good luck tonight. I'm waiting for them to like gimme something. But they're the nicest fans in the world, and you know, I think they're just happy to be out at a sporting event at the end of the day. If they win, they win, and if not. It certainly doesn't have the same atmosphere that a Timbers game or a Sounders game

does in terms of fan engagement. Everyone up on their feet, you know, most are just you know, here on a Wednesday night watching their you know, favorite team play a soccer game. So it just has never had that same bite. Maybe it did back in the day. It'd be a good question for Schmeetz, Well you seeing what felt more maybe for you which one was more indicative.

Speaker 11

We played against Vancouverny. It definitely had more spots than it feels like in these days. It was lots of local guys that used to come from this area. Martin Nash, Steve Nash's brother used to play, and you know, they had a whole bevy of local product who did play with their heart and their sleeve, and a ton of talent as well. And yeah, the games definitely were felt more fiery than they are these days.

Speaker 9

But for the Sounders, you know, they're taking care of business.

Speaker 11

Leading one nill here twenty one minutes gone, roll down picks the ball up being all it shifting back to that central midfields about with Jao Paolo still out wooking his way back. He's been in practice this past week. We'll see his re entry into the squad in the coming weeks.

Speaker 9

As Rothrock has it, Bull goes top of the bucks too, rolled on it towards Rothrock, cuts it in towards the six.

Speaker 11

Job bocks cleared by Vesselonovitch. Now Here lets the bull run to this nist sorry throwing for the Sounders.

Speaker 17

That's interesting how Vancouver wants to play with Burhalter tuck so far inside It leaves the whole left flank for the Sounders wide open. And I can understand that if knew who's gonna push forward or Rusnak is really finding those pockets in the middle, but it doesn't seem to be the case. And Vancouver getting caught shifted so many numbers on the other side that the switches on all day. You think they watch LASC and just say we're gonna play five in the back and make the Sounders work

for it. But they seem to just want to sit with those three and not the five in the midfield do most of the work split across the middle of the park.

Speaker 11

As he mentioned, lots of games going on right now, the Sounder is getting that goal as it stands right now, Sounders shift to fifty three points, which puts them in third position. LAFC on fifty three as well, currently tying. They kicked off at the same time twenty two minutes gone down in LA They're playing Saint Louis City, who

have been eliminated from playoffs already. It's funny how parenty can shift itself in MLS twenty three for Saint Louis in their first year in MLS and the Western Conference.

Speaker 9

They won the Western Conference last year.

Speaker 11

This year they get eliminated from the playoffs with several games to go.

Speaker 17

You see what this league can provide. And when you look at the Sounders since two thousand and nine, only once missing the playoffs, there's such high expectations for this club and you seem to hit the mark every single year that making the playoffs is just expected at the end of the day, and I think for other clubs it's not right. They're super happy to be in the playoffs. And I think Vancouver white Caps is one of those

teams as of late. But now that they've had a bit more consistently, that found themselves in a better position and being much more successful. But the Sounders, just the consistency is so key.

Speaker 6

Here.

Speaker 11

The sound is with Marris that goals called Georgie towards the endline right hand side, cuts it back Blackman, this time covering it will step up from Georgie.

Speaker 9

Blackman backs off back to his right foot strikes. It isn't able to deliver slashes across goal high and wide.

Speaker 11

Comes out for a throwing on this near side, and it's probably Georgie's one area of improvement now as his final delivery, whether it's a strike on goal or a cross as he slaps his thigh in frustration but certainly something he can add to his game. But there's no doubt black Men's already showing the respect by dropping off as Georgie picks up the ball.

Speaker 17

Yeah, I mean that interchange was brilliant from Jordan checking back to Yamar, a little one touch pass out to Obed and then Georgie picks it up and he does what he needs to do and he isolates black Men and he brings him inside then back out. You got the power and then that one just has to be hit low on the ground across the face of goal. And Schmandt said that today it's the final product that's still missing from a guy like Georgie.

Speaker 11

Here comes Vancouver in transition, fastide to the left. Addie Cugby clips it towards this near side, towards the back stick. Challenged well by knew Who against Burhol It's a little pressure now from Rothrock double teeming helping know who out. Ball gets clipped in, takes deflection or could bounce her rolled on picked up by Pico. Rothrop gets stuck in, doesn't win the tackle, falls out to v take clips.

Speaker 9

Towards the back stick. I don't know how he missed it. Daddy Kugby came on the back stick.

Speaker 11

He almost passed it into the ground and it looped over the crossbar on the deflection.

Speaker 9

It's gonna be a goal kick for.

Speaker 11

The sound As they continue to lead here one nil, but narrowly escaped that opportunity for Maddie Cugby.

Speaker 17

Well three five two. That means you've got, you know, seven guys attacking against six in the back for the Sounders, and they're making life a little bit more difficult for the Sounders at this point as they throw numbers forward. The second one that's come into the box and Stephan Fryer has had to make himself really big on this play. But the ball gets dropped in and Adda Kub is there. But man like you said, it was there for him

put that one in the back of the night. I think there was just too much traffic.

Speaker 11

Ball on the foot of roth Rot this near side, just on the halfway line back to New As a Sounder started to build in possession even games so far in terms of possession the first fifty minutes, sound descided to pull away now six fifty nine percent possession for the Sounders. Certainly been in command of this game since that goal by Georgia Mnungo his first goal for the Sounders. So come into BC play, start to take control, and it's not been a great.

Speaker 9

Place for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Vancouver have had their way in the last six games, only one loss in those six games of Vancouver. Georgia Manunga has it right hand side, challenged now by Eddie Kugby on a yellow card.

Speaker 9

Just missed that great chance.

Speaker 11

Eric's back out to Georgie head up, a little stepover, challenged by Addie Kugby dropping off now a YadA yourself some breathing room, so dive in and get that second yellow and potential red.

Speaker 9

As Rothrock picks up the balls, it.

Speaker 11

Shifts across to his left hand side, ten yards from the end line, overlapping run by New little step over and back here by Rothrock.

Speaker 9

Eventually picked up by New who.

Speaker 11

Slashes it across the six cleared by Vesselonovitch Vit can't pick it up, rolls out for a throwing on this near side for the Sounders. Christian roll Doan gets it off New who time and space.

Speaker 9

Middle of the part.

Speaker 11

Georgia makes a little run pointed to where he wants the ball to go, roll down, passes it off back to new Who this near side Rothrock and support gets to his foot.

Speaker 17

Looks like it went over. It did.

Speaker 11

I couldn't quite grab that ball under control. It's gonna be a thrown for Vancouver.

Speaker 17

I never understood why new Who's gotta know that no player wants that ball on the sideline in Paul Rothrock's position. He's only there to draw Vancouver over to the to this near side so the Sounders can get out of pressure. If I have a guy within a yard of me, the only thing I can do is smash that ball back to you to your feet. I can't get out

of that pressure. And Who's got to recognize that the switch is on at some point because everyone's come over to the other side, and Alex has all this time with Georgie playing so far wide, he can almost become a number six now that we've often seen him become.

Before Rusnak steps up the line. Obed can go up a line that Christian and Alex run that midfield when the Sounders have possession and just sit almost like a block a square in the middle, and then you have numbers right, You've got four v three in the middle of the pitch and you should find that advantage. It's at the end of the day. It's a rondo.

Speaker 9

Yep. Sounders had success over the years eight, five and seven. Here at BC Place.

Speaker 11

It comes Vancouver Boholter rolls it into the channel Chworth's peacot, so lively and fast, so many years and goals in mols little back heel we'll play to Laborda, slips it towards the back post, finds itself to Addie Cuggy again striking.

Speaker 9

The left for this time slices it wide, says a.

Speaker 11

Referee puts his flag up on this near side. Potentially went over the end line before it came back, but maybe an off side. But it's going to be a free kick for the Sounders. Yes, it looks like it's gonna be a off side. Who is a back heel towards the border? Sefron Frey picks the ball up, decked out and all yellow as he strals over nonchalantly towards this near side. It's going to put the ball down for a free kick for the Sounders. Well September fifteenth.

Speaker 11

Twenty ninth minute here at BC Place, nine point fifty KGr Am, thanks for joining us wherever you're picking us up.

Speaker 9

We're going a venue for the twenty twenty six feet for World Cup. Talking to some of the.

Speaker 11

Staff from the things that they have to do, what the biggest issue and concern they have is when to lay the grass field, which is exactly what Loominfield will have to do when the Seahawks finish their season.

Speaker 9

Is laid down.

Speaker 11

Thick bed of grass let that mature through And as fifah mentioned in all their build up to selecting the venues for the twenty twenty six feet for World Cup, it's all about the field.

Speaker 9

And image.

Speaker 11

A lot about commercialization as well and ticket sales, but certainly the teams that do play around the country play on turf. Atlanta is another example they're gonna have to put gress down. There comes Vancouver down this right hand side with burhold of Brian White making his run. Ball

comes in easily cleared by Jackson o'reagan. So far comfortable for the sound as it comes Georgie now the Sounder is in transition, just drops it off calmly to Alex Rolledan, goes square to Vargas, drops it off to Yamar Jackson in support, rolls it out square to this near side to new who sounds attacking the goal to our left, leading one go to nil. Georgia Monongo's first goal for the Sounders bundled it in from just a few yards out after Jordan Morris won his header from an Albert

Rosneck corner kick. Because the ball goes long, picked up now by Vancouver and they'll start to build. So as we approach thirty minutes, Brian satisfied the way the game's gone, sounds time to state control.

Speaker 17

Yeah, I think so, but I still think there's moments where the Sounders can do better in possession further up the field. I think the game plan for Vancouver is get Jackson on the ball, and then we're gonna pressure Jackson and see if he can play out of the back. And that time it worked out to Vancouver's favorite. The ball goes back to Stephan Fry and then he has to play a long ball. Vancouver recovers just like here knew who gets put under pressure and then they win

the ball. So that's gonna be Vancouver's mo try to get the ball wide and put the ball in the box of Brian White, and they're starting to build a little bit of momentum here, so Schmitz will be thinking how do we maintain possession further up the field.

Speaker 11

Well, that momentum wins Vancouver their first corner on this near side. It was Berholz getting in behind the back line again.

Speaker 9

On this near side, the right cross block by Niuho.

Speaker 11

First corner kick for Vancouver at the foot of Vta Berholter and support as well Rose Neck ten yards away. Sounders a couple of big men to manage here in black Men and Vesselonovich, but not a particularly big team.

Speaker 9

Brian White's good in the air as well. Ball comes in the border, goes up clear by the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Picked up on this near side by Vita looks to curl it in with his left foot, loops it up headed forward by White, bounces through over the end line.

Speaker 9

Goal kick remains Vancouver nil, Sounders one.

Speaker 17

So these will be the ones where the Sounders have to figure out how to play further up the field out of the back, because all Vancouver is looking to do is for a trigger to go back to Jackson, and then they start to push forward, and I think it's gonna be the switching ball Vancouver.

Speaker 3

You see it.

Speaker 17

They've got three in the back. It's Georgia on one sideline, Rothrock on the other, and Jordan in the middle. How do you isolate one of those players? It takes a little bit of magic from someone in the midfield, a little.

Speaker 11

Free kick on Christian Roldan, who means Houston tied Ozzie Alonzo for three hundred and thirty nine games or comp It's been number two in Sounders history and games played, and tonight he surpasses Ozzie to land second on his

own with three hundred and forty. Stephan Frye still out there forty plus games ahead in the goal tonight, of course, signed a new contract earlier on this year, keeps some at the Sounders, most likely to the very end of his career, much deserved, been an absolute rock for the Sounders. We're talking about the work that Tommy Deucher has done over the years, not just the players that have come in like the lights of Case.

Speaker 9

He continue to work them through to high levels.

Speaker 11

But of course Stephan Fry, finding his way out of Toronto lands in Seattle, has become one of the all time best goalkeepers in MLS. Number two is well in clean sheets, surpass Kevin Harbon just a couple of weeks ago that its one hundred and fourteenth. This past weekend against Houston, or gets not long towards White Good in the air locks.

Speaker 9

It long to Shop who rotates the ball.

Speaker 11

Out to the far side to Addie Kugby, challenged by Alex rolled On twenty five yards from the end line. Back to Shop, turns out of pressure, finds Vita top of the box, turns out of pressure, rolls out to Burhol.

Speaker 9

To right corner of the eighteen yard box. Back to Vite Clip towards that backstick to Addie Kugby.

Speaker 11

Again it seems a target for Vta on that back stick, but well cleared by the Sounders. Picked up by Georgie, goes back to Alex rolled on. Sounders put their foot in the ball. From a minute, take a breath. Get here in the thirty fourth minute, Sounders leading one Nill Cascadia game. If they the iced to get three points, it's all in their hands. If they can beat Portland in Decision Day, Cascadia up in twenty twenty four will be theirs. Vancouver looking to get two Cascadie Cups in

a row. They currently lead with eight points. Sound is in third place right now Portland with seven points, just one game left. Vancouver and Portland played last week till one to one tie. It comes Georgia goalscored a little step over Platman dropping off, goes square to Rosnik head up, rolls it in between the back three to Rothrock, clips across how that didn't go in and it comes off the toe of Tachyoca.

Speaker 9

It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

But again that left hand side with Paul Rothrock shows the type of quality that he can put in and rolls it across the six. Jordan Morice can't quite get there, bobbles throw. It's gonna be a corner kick Sounders.

Speaker 17

I mean we said if the Sounders can find a way to play out of Vancouver's pressure, they've just walked the ball forward. Within three or four passes, ball goes wide to Georgia. Here and this ball from Albert Rusnak is ridiculous. He takes touch and there's about a four yard window that he can play that ball into. And it's a first time ball from Paul Rothrock and Jordan's gotta get a foot on it there. I think it

actually comes off the defender instead of Jordan. But if I'm an outside winger, I gotta work my way into the box in Georgia Manongo because that ball again falls on the back post and he's just kind of taking a nap.

Speaker 11

Rosnick picks up, the ball is cleared back out to Rosnick. He was a little slow getting back on side. Assistant and referee on that far side, just five yards or so away from Rosnick puts his flag Up's gonna be a free kick for Vancouver for an offside on Rosnick.

Speaker 17

Well.

one goal to nil. The score up that is presented by provident Swedish Berholt, challenged tightly by new right in front of Vanny Sartini, just patrolling his technical area.

Speaker 9

Probably not satisfied in.

Speaker 11

The manner in which Vancouver are playing right now, Sounders dominating in most facets of the game. Sixty percent possession already against Vancouver is more slices out of bounds by Shop and that's just a waste of possession again by Vancouver.

Speaker 9

And it just feels brad. It feels very pedestrian like, just there's no buzz. And if the Sounders were able just to pick it up five or ten percent you mentioned it, they could slice through this back line. And what Brian Schwetz will likely say a halftime when he.

Speaker 11

Thinks about San Jose not getting that third goal, not putting that game away, it's all in their hands now to put this one away.

Speaker 17

It reminds me of the Sounders at Philly right where it was kind of routine based in Philly, seemed disinterested. That's what it feels like right now for then, and you have to smell that, whether it's from Obed or Rothrock, whomever it is. You gotta put the ball in the back of the next if had three or four good chances so far to put this one to bed.

Speaker 11

Speaking of as towards the end line back to obed left corner of the box, just turns the ball out of pressure. VT steps towards Nuhu square to roll down. Even the pressure from Vancouver's just a little bit off as well.

Speaker 9

Sounders are having their way. It's a matter.

Speaker 11

Off can they execute get that second goal before going into the locker room.

Speaker 9

Seven and a half minutes until the forty five not much stoppage to speaker, there was a little injury early in the game. See what the referee adds on. But for the Sounders, can they find their second goal? Get in the locker room regroup? Of course, you've got like sir Pega de la Vego can come off the bench. Colorado on the road on Saturday, the third game in a week. Then the Sounders get two weeks off.

Speaker 11

And that October nineteenth decision day against their arch rival Portland Timbers. Do not miss that game. It will be a bond stormer of a game. I'm sure lots to play for Portland. Continued to scrap for playoff position. It comes Russ and it turns out a pressure well pull.

Speaker 9

That by shop. That's gonna be a yellow corn on shop and that's an SGB yellow corn.

Speaker 11

When a foul is called SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit sgbdshlaw dot com.

Speaker 17

Well, it's a pass from Jackson Reagan here that makes that entire play. And like we said, the Sounder shift into almost a three four three, but the four in the middle are playing a box. It's open and Rusnakai and then Alex and Christian sitting just below them. And it's the patients and the Sounders build up that allows that gap. Look at that first time ball back from Christian. Then it's a first time ball from Jackson. It breaks four or five players. Vancouver has to foul, pick up

a free kick, and another yellow card for Vancouver. And that's just because of patient's in good passing right, not someone beating someone with a crazy move or anything, just tactically where they should be making the right pass at the right time.

Speaker 11

Here's Rosneck free kick thirty five yards or so from the end line, bright of center.

Speaker 9

Big men are up.

Speaker 11

Jackson Reagan just peeling off towards the backstick goes out to the right hand side to Georgia. One on one now versus Shop drops his shoulders on a yellow card, whips it in good ball, can't quite get to Morris, just deluded Morris in that front post, bounces through. Rothrop picks it up sound and still have possession. He attacking third of the field, whips it from Rosneck's right foot out to the far side to Georgie so that it's

way on that right hand side. Both Shop and Addie Cugby are on yellow cards, so that's another clumsy challenge. I think it's on Shop for again. He's gotta be a little bit careful. We'll see what Vanni Sartini does at halftime. Both those players on the left hand side with Georgie have got yellow cards. So if you're Rosneck, you're gonna be feeding Georgie over and over again. See if you can draw it to the yellow card.

Speaker 17

I mean, that's a fantastic ball from Georgie, just a little faint absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. If I'm Vancouver and I see one of my players isolated, I have to send a second over.

Speaker 11

He has Rosnet whips it in from that free kick, heady clear by Blackman. Sounders are gonna pick up the loose ball in this near side as Brian Schmitz patrols his technical area now just pointing, guiding, forcing his team just to continue to push and press to find that second goal. They lead one nill here in the forty first minute BC place ninet fifty KGr Am. Don't leave us at halftime. Kellen, Pete and Jackson will be back to break it all down here in the booth. It's

been a somewhat subdued crowd. It comes Rosne rolls it out to George again right inside inside the box. Good first touch, could tackle by black Man. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders. But good positive play again from the Sounders.

Speaker 17

I mean that ball from knew who Just when I watch that play developed, Brusknak is just looking around him and there's no one within fifteen yards. It's like he's got COVID out there. No one wants to be next to him, which is a great thing. That's how you know you're in the right spot where coach wants you

to be. When there's no one around you and you have the ball tactically perfect and that pass again his inch perfect into Georgie and Brusnak, just finding all the right places and the weight of the pass so good.

Speaker 9

It comes this time.

Speaker 11

It goes short again to rolled on, happed a couple of times already, but here Rosnack gonna whip it in backstick, ball goes across, bounces in Rothrock has it strikes it deflected and blocked by Vancouver, but picked up by Obare tries to regle free, touches it out of bounds. It's gonna be a thrown for Vancouver on this near side, ten yards from the corner flag, Vancouver's defensive half third of the field.

Speaker 9

Sounds are gonna press a little higher? Can they kind of box them in here?

Speaker 11

Continue to press Vancouver, making them uncomfortable in possession. Brian White fifteen goals on the year, fifteen goals last year as well. It's been quiet in the attack third of the field. Has been good in holding the ball up, bringing his midfield players into plays. He did just then, but just isn't able to get any type of service right now. Ryan Gold, his partner in crime's been a

thorn in the sounder's side as Ryan Gold. Of course over the years he's out injured, all given away cheaply by yame on.

Speaker 9

Not what Brian Schmidzer wants. As we approached the end of the game, and then Peko, I just feel sorry for dam knocks it out of bounds, throwing four for the sectors.

Speaker 17

Yeah, a little sloppy play from both teams and that interchange. Well, like you said, for Brian White, he's not a guy that you want making the game. He reminds me of Clint in a way where you might not see him for sixty sixty five minutes or even after the game you're asking did he play in this game? And then you look at the score sheet. He's got two goals in the back of the net because he's not involved too much in the play, just really involved in putting

the ball in the back of the net. And he'll work until he can't work anymore. He'll lawyer to sleep. And that's your job as a center back pairing is to make sure you're alive and awake anytime that ball gets swung out wide, because he'll be the one to pounce on it.

Speaker 11

Yeah, Brian White scored in the last two regular season games for Vancouver Portland and LA Galaxy. But here is Vancouver now and the hands of black Men with a long throw just in front of us, down eighteen yards from the end line. Bore bounces around, picked up by the border, challenged by NW who well played by New who well looked like he went out of bounds. So

some refereece this near side does agree. It's going to be a goal kick for Stephan Frye and the Sounders as we get here in the final ninety seconds of forty five seconds tick by Sounders leading one goal to nil. Here in BC Place, it's mentioned for any away team if you can silence a crowd, which the Sounders certainly have done both in possession of the goal that they've scored.

Speaker 9

Exactly what you want. So far, so good for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Catch you up with results all around the league that are impacting games today, and the live standing Sounders sit in third position, leap frogged Salt Lake Real salt Lake, who currently sit the same number of points.

Speaker 9

Sounders have fifteen wins. If results hold, so Lake would have fourteen wins.

Speaker 11

If results hold, Sounders looking to be in that top four and even pushing into second. Of course, last year they got second as well, Saint Louis City getting first position but being eliminated from the playoffs this year.

Speaker 9

Good step by Jackson, foul given by the referee. It looked like it was a clean take from Jackson who stepped in with his big six foot five frame, not to Pico to the ground. Referee disagrees it's going to be a free kick and an opportunity here at the end of this first half of Vancouver.

Speaker 17

Well, Jackson's got to know in that in that scenario he's got his player facing his own goal, there's no need to step in here and even try to win it. It's definitely a foul. Peacock gets the first touch, he's got cover from roll Don ye Imus talking back in knew who's in the right position. And now you give up a free kick in the forty fifth minute, and the last thing you want to do is let Vancouver go in the halftime with one minute of stoppage time

to get some sort of momentum. Jackson's got to be smarter.

Speaker 9

Here's Burholter, thirty yards or so from the end line, tucked on the right hand side, ball whipped in headed up and away is by Jordan Morrice. Good defend him by Jordan.

Speaker 11

It comes back to burhol to right corner of the box, whips it in low, this time headed up and over the top for a goalkick for the sounders. One minute about it time, thirty seconds already in it well, Discount Tire get thirty percent short average wait time when you buy a book online at discount tire dot com.

Speaker 9

Sam's looking to see out these final seconds.

Speaker 11

I'm sure when step and five eventually gets the ball down the deck, which he has done now and backs up once he launches it refree, Chris Penzl will likely put the whistle twist mouth it comes to ball launched long, Rothrock clatches into Burholz cleared by knew who. Sounders need to clear their lines. Don't give Vancouver a sniff in these final seconds.

Speaker 9

That's what Yamar does. And there's the whistle from referee Chris Penco.

Speaker 11

Not much response from the crowd as the blaring sound system starts up again.

Speaker 22

Well.

Speaker 9

It was a goal for.

Speaker 11

Georgia Minongo's first goal as a Sounder in the fourteenth minute, assists by Jordan Morris and Albert Rosnek.

Speaker 9

His fourteenth assists on his year, put the Sounders up one nil.

Speaker 17

Grad your final thoughts, Yeah, look a good half from the Sounders. I don't think anyone's even too tired walking in at halftime on this one. There wasn't too much put into this from either side, and the Sounders just were able to finish their chance. Vancouver with a couple on this near end and Stephan Fry having to come up and make a couple saves, and it wasn't for the out of Kuba hitting that one off frame. I think they might have a one one little tie going

into halftime. But at the end of the day, pretty routine for the Sounders. Not much in it from Vancouver. Bit of a walk about tonight on a Wednesday night.

Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.

Speaker 3

Forty five minutes in the books here at PC Place.

Speaker 2

We're up here in Vancouver, Canada watching our Sounders who have a lead over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Right now, the goal scored by Georgie Minongu in the fourteenth minute his first career goal. Congratulations Georgievenungu. Now the team just needs to hold on to it to come home with three points. I'll tell you that Sonders FC Soccer is presented by Provident,

Swedish official healthcare partner of Sonders FC. Welcome into the halftime show, Jackson Feltz, Kelen Roan, Pete Fewing here for a few minutes to break down that first half.

Speaker 3

Callen, what did you see in the first forty five I think it was a little easy. They had possession of the ball, the Sounders did, and I think it's because the formation that that white Caps are playing and the way the positioning of Alex Roldan and knew who is creating a lot of trouble for those quote unquote wing backs for Vancouver because they're now leaving hig Kay like Georgie and Paul, who are very good one on one players with center backs in their back three, and

that's just pulling them out a little bit wider. And so they were seeing a lot of good things come from those wings, just not the final ball. And so once we get that final ball down, I think it's going to be two, three, even four.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I tell you the possession piece. Seattle's had at least four sequences of twenty five to thirty passes and it seems like it's eleven against nine or ten maybe for Vancouver. But having said that, Van Cooper's had about four crosses from the right hand side to the back post that have been a bit nervy for Fry for I came up with a huge save and then a

couple have skied over the crossbar. One thing I've been impressed with with Seattle is, you know, months ago there was talk of we haven't scored on a restart, we haven't scored on a restart, and Andy Rose and Brian Spetzer jokingly said, you know, his job's in jeopardy if we don't score on a restart. He was kidding about that. But the restarts to meet tonight. There's been great variety, great organization on it. And we got the goal. Yes, Georgie gets a goal. It's his third start. Now, all

of a sudden, he's at the back post. I don't think you expect. I don't think Vancouver expected him to be at the back post there. He was easy tap in. So I've liked the restarts. I'm concerned about all the service that Vancouver's had. And then again, kind of like the last game with Houston, it'd be really nice to get one more goal and have that two goal lead and kind of put it to bed. I don't think. I don't think Sartine's gonna let his team roll over tonight.

He's as active as any player on the field as he is on the sideline.

Speaker 3

He sure is animated. And I look, those chances that Vancouver had came from our mistakes as well, and I think we almost lulled ourselves into sleep when we were through this possession. You know, we're getting sloppy balls away because we think we've got the time and Vancouver is down your throat again. But for me, it's also making sure that you're step into the ball. And I know

that you've just had possession for a long time. It's a midweek game, and I get that, But the second that you're near your box, you got to make sure that you're step into the ball as soon as possible. You're having a hand on your marker if you're in the box. But twice now we've seen them from this right side swing a ball in and a man is free on the back post. Well, we got to talk about what exactly needs to happen in the second half.

Speaker 6

At Maderna, we have a mindset saying that we pivot fearlessly, and I think with audio you can pivot fearlessly. You can go where the news is and bringing in content that perhaps you didn't have a few weeks earlier. It's less six months in advantage or three months in advance.

When you do a TVC you're able to create really nimble content, which I think in this day and age, and particularly at Maderna, where we have new information coming out on a regular basis, being able to feed that information to the audio format makes being nimble and pivoting easy.

Welcome back to the halftime showing.

Speaker 2

You're Seattle Sounders leading Vancouver by a score of one and nothing. And this copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written subsense of Major League Soccer. It is a one to nothing Sounders lead now cal and the questions are how the Sounders can hold on to this lead and who Brian Schenzer can use off the bench to keep this lead in tact.

Speaker 3

I think it's kind of same old to that as quote here. Keep the possession, continue to work out those wings and getting those good balls inside the box. Can Jordan Morris find one? Can Albert Bruce Nack maybe come in late and find one in the back of the net. Then get another goal. I like the chances because you don't see much without Ryan Gauld, you don't see much

creativity from this Vancouver white Caps. However, with those balls coming in from a deeper position behind that back line that they have done into the box, we don't make sure that we're tight on defense and making sure that everyone has their markers and nothing's just sneaking behind you in the back post like it had twice there.

Speaker 4

I'd really like another goal. It sounds like a very obvious statement, but we've had these tight games, you know. You go back to the San Jose game, ro up two to one, we give up one late. The Houston game, we somewhat had control of that game, but it was a bit nervy at the end. And I'd love to see another goal just to open this thing up. The

possession Seattle's had has been fantastic. They are getting too much service from Vancouver, right so we've got to eliminate some of that kell And you make a good point. We're giving balls away in our defensive third and then it's coming right back down our throat, so you can't you can't bank on them skying balls a foot over the crossbar. Or step making these the big save like you did in the nineteenth minute, So one more goal

would be great. And again I thought we've been great on restart, so be nice to put one away from an Albert russneck service, you.

Speaker 3

Know, so I will mention too.

Speaker 2

You know there's times that looming field where the Sounders are down and you know, on the attacking the second half, and you can feel the crowd really getting into it, and you can hear it, and you can just telling I'm sure players on the field you can feel the enthusiasm behind you and the peel behind you. Should be mentioned. We're here at BC Place and this is the benefit of being here. Can tell you there's probably only about

seven thousand and eight thousand people here. The crowd is very very sparse here at BC Place, So in terms of players getting behind crowded enthusiasm and feeling that towards momentum of equalizing, they are gonna get it tonight. There's a lot of Sounder fans and there's few just a few more Van gour fans, but not enough, I think to create that momentum. We'll see what happens here in the next forty five minutes. So the sounder is leading for leading one to nothing. Right now, we'll have things

back over to Danny and Brad. They have the second half with the Sounders leading one. Nothing starts next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM.

You're listening to the home of Sounders fc CL's Sports Radio nine fifty KJR.

Speaker 11

Welcome back, sound as fans to BC Place in Vancouver, where your Sounder is getting ready to kick off this second half. They're leading one goal to nil. Offer a first MLS goal for the Sounders for young Georgiae Menungo. So congratulations of Georgie. A much needed goal for the Sounders. They dominated most of that first half. As Albert Rosneck puts the ball in the center spot, it's going to get us going. Crowd continue to be very quiet, somewhat disillusioned.

It's talking some folks at halftime they talked about the crowds.

Speaker 9

Usually a bit bigger, a bit more boisterous, strange. They have a chance today to with a win to win Cascadi Cup for the second year in a row. But the Sounders have come out the gates in good form.

Speaker 11

Here comes Georgie, who has been lively in that first half, knocked out of bounds on this near side by black Man. Sounders in there, Bruce Lee kit Tonight red shirts, black shorts and black socks. They're attacking the goal to our right in the second half. And then Vancouver and their traditional white shirts with the blue stripe through the middle, our blue navy shorts and white sox tacking the goal

to our left. We're here at BC Place, venue of one of the venues for the twenty twenty six feet for World Cup, right in the middle of downtown.

Speaker 9

Great place, great location. I'm sure there'll be a great sight and experience for these teams coming through. As Christian rolled.

Speaker 11

On get smashed down by it's see if it's Pico and that's gonna be an SGB yellow card and if I was called SGB trial lawyers are here to help visit SGB dash law dot com. So all three players on that left hand side and Addie Kirkby and shot from Pico yellow card. We'll get to the lineups in a minute coming out of the second half. But Brad, your thoughts about what Brian Schmittz had said to his men at halftime trying to get them that second goal potentially coming out in the second half.

Speaker 17

Yeah, I think he really wants Alex rolled On to pinch in there and become that four block in the midfield, and that will allow Georgie and rother Rock to be more isolated on the side because at a koube on this left hand side now near side, he wants to say tucked in and he'll let Georgie have that line, and so the Sounders have to find a way to have that one two touch interchange and force the ball out wide and then he'll be saying, if it's not on Georgie, I just want you to go back with

the ball and let's just keep it and let's get rus Knack involved, Let's find the other side, and let's really move Vancouver out of position and wait for that good opportunity. There's no reason to rush anything right now for the Sounders. It's pretty much so far been a little bit of a walk in the park, to be honest. Now it's just about when you do get that chance maintain possession, be calm, and then take a chance when you.

Speaker 11

Get it all by George mcnungen giving away but could switch first time Paul by Christian Roldon brilliant switch your play collected eventually by Rothrock. On the second attempt, challenged by Pearl, he'll drop the shoulder whipped him by his red right foot cleared by Vesti Leonovitch finds Christian Rolldon thirty odds out, rolls it out to this near side to Georgie Mnonga one be one again to Addie Kukbey just drops his shoulder, great turn of pace, whipped it across,

bounces up in the air. Vessel Onovich can't give it on the first attempt to eventually hook clear by shop picked up by Christian rolled on thirty yards from Gold middle of the park finds new who left foot challenged by Bertholds eventually comes off Berholds but again Georgia Menungo brad Evans showing his threat down that right hand side.

Speaker 17

Well, there's nothing you can do if you're a defender, and no matter how much you want to overplay it, you're always gonna have to give up the end line because that's what you're taught to do when you're inside the box, right, if you're defending on the corner of your six, you have to force them to the endline and you're just not fast enough.

Speaker 9

Well, it's Georgie's stepovers and has dropped the shoulder.

Speaker 11

It's just elusive and a different type of threat and weapon for Brian Schmidtz.

Speaker 9

So we asked about that. You know, there's lots of players that play a similar position or a similar way, look about likes of Rothrock and Tevers and players like that. But Georgia brings something very different.

Speaker 11

Sounders built out the back with confidence, Fry just clipping it over beyond rushing, finds the foot of Jackson Reagan again, who goes back to Fry. Eventually I Fry puts his foot through the ball, knocks it long towards Rothrock, doesn't judge it quite right, goes over his head, bounces through, throwing four Vancouver. So let's get you the eleven coming

out in the second half. No change for Brian seven to Frying goal about fourth rolled on Yemar Reagan knew who Christian rolled on alongside Obed in the middle of the park. Georgia Manungo goal scorer on that right hand side, Albert Ruznek. This fourteenth assist came off that corner kick is playing in the ten. Rothrock on the left and then Jordan Morris who won that head and eventually fell to Georgie inside the six. He's playing up front or

gets launched long by Tachyoka. Played every single game so far this season for Vancouver, ever present in the goal. Sounders to pick it up and have possession in their half of the field with Vargas. So let's get your Vanni Sartini's line up as he patrols the technical area.

Speaker 9

We'll get you that in one minute.

Speaker 11

As Sounders have it bought the foot of Georgie, he's a threat down this right inside little step over the right corner of the box.

Speaker 9

He is no real support.

Speaker 11

Sounders players just back in a way, giving Georgie the space and time finds. Alex Schrauldan goes back to his brother Christian, square across the field to Vargas, who continues the ball across to Rothrock fast side the left stands up. Burhol To drops his right shoulder, comes inside well, reverse ball by Christian Roldan back out to the left with new whipped in well headed up and away by Vessel Leonovitch.

He's gonna bounce through re first corner kick the second half for the Sounders as they lead here in the fifty first minute one nil, Fred Evans.

Speaker 17

That's the patience that you want. It's a quick corner kick here.

Speaker 9

It comes rosing out with that quick corner kick.

Speaker 11

Wells back to Rothrock inside the eighteen, whips to towards the back stick, just eludes Georgie by a whisker flies over his head, goes over the end line, goal kick for Vancouver Sounders lead one nil.

Speaker 17

Yeah, good play from the Sounder. So that's what we talked about, the patience. Georgie picks up the ball. He understands that could I beat my guy right now, Yes, But at the end of the day, I gotta play safe. And I think Schmetz probably talks to him in his ear and it's like, you can go three or four times, but on that fourth or fifth one, let's try and just keep possession and get other players involved. And that one went back this near side to far side, near

side to far side. The Sounders ended up with actually a well whipped in ball when knew who finds himself on the top of the eighteen that's the places where you want to find him with his left foot.

Speaker 11

Throws by Vessel Noovitch just finds Rothrock to Jordan Morris left hand side, ten yards or so from the endline, just outside the eighteen yard but comes back to new square ball five yards to Christian rolled on head up, calls it square to this near side to Alex. Roldan, pinched in his right back spot, clips towards the backstick headed by Rothrock, blocked by the Borders. Second corner kick of the second half for the Sounders on the farst side there left and knocking on the door.

Speaker 9

Look him for that.

Speaker 11

Very important second goal. Couldn't get it against San Jose just a couple of weeks ago. San Jose punished the Sounders for that scored right at the death to make it too too. Sunders were able to hold on last week with a one nil lead against Houston, got the three points put them in the playoffs.

Speaker 9

As Rosneck gives a little wave to his players. Now the moves happened.

Speaker 11

Roldan goes short as is Georgie whips in towards the near corner of the sixth headed clear by Brian White's done more defensively than offensively in this half. When this game, I should say, as the ball finds Alex roldan halfway line, rolls into Obed quietly efficient again by Obed. So he celebrates his inclusion with the senior national team for Mexico, called in for those games coming up, one of them being against the US.

Speaker 9

As Georgie just holds his line on this near side asking him for the ball. And you know, when a player's asking the ball and you're young, you've got a ton of confidence.

Speaker 17

Bread. Yeah, look, and he should ask for that ball. If I'm an outside midfielder on this team, look at Paul Rothrock all alone the far side and Georgie on this one. Keep making the run. You might not get it half the time, but you have to keep making the run and always ask for that ball, because if I'm a midfielder, I want to know that you want

the ball every time that I get it. I don't want to have to look up every single time and guess to see if you're in the spot that you should be, that you tactically worked on the week before. I want to know that you want the ball every single time, and credit to him keep going right. I mean he hasn't been stopped once they had to bring him down for a yellow card, and the rest of the time he's had a couple of crosses. Have there been great crosses? No, but it'll come, it'll come right.

Speaker 11

We'll go short from the free kick he was Rothrocker goes ankles clipped by the border. Sounders get it going quickly. Now Rusnak rolls it into. Christian rolled on top of the box, rolls it square to his brother Alex. Now it's this near sight to Georgie, stunning up Georgie is.

Speaker 9

Good little play by Georgie, quick dancing feet on the corner of the eighten yard. Box goes back to Alex rold On. Now it's a Christian.

Speaker 11

Patient in possession of the sound is now trying to find their open. He goes all the way back to Jackson Reagan who rolls it out with his left foot to the fast side to new who Christian rolled on in available and support middle of the field. No pressure from Vancouver because they back off. Got no answers against Sounders.

Speaker 9

Now balling behind by Rosak, good ball into rothrot left hand side towards the endline. He goes comes back to his right foot.

Speaker 11

Good defending this sign by Vesselonovitch just pokes it away from roth Rock and then just clears his lines down the line.

Speaker 9

Chess ball buy new who keeps possessions? Sounders come again.

Speaker 17

Well you see where Alex Rolledon was on that last build up. He's playing as a number ten right now, you're right back for the Sounders is playing as one of your number ten's alongside Rusnak and that again, that block of four as they match up with the Vancouver White Cups, the best thing they can and if they just maintain possession in that space. Man, I'd love to play as an attacker in this in this system as a right back.

Speaker 11

So is it because the Vancouver playing in the three of the back and the way that they're set up, the sound is able to build in a three and allow Alex rolled down that space and time to shift.

Speaker 17

Yeah, it's definitely by design because they're playing with two up top and you have to have at least Bill comes in.

Speaker 11

Clipped away by Blackman finds Vargas right hand side, smashed it across the six clear by Blackman, and.

Speaker 17

If the Sounders don't push Alex road On into that midfield role, then the Vancouver white Caps have a two man advantage because they have two sitting up top, and then they've got three in the central part of the field. So if they allow Alex to push in there, they get some numerical advantage. If they go side to side, that's where they find those advantages. They can't afford not to have Alex tuck in and be another midfielder.

Speaker 11

Rapid stomp by the Sounders, dominating possession, shoved off the balls, Brian White by Jackson Reagan struggled somewhat with Brian White's physical presence with his back to goal. Let's get you the line up for Vancouver Techyo Queen goal the border Vessel, Leonovitch and Blackman, midfield four of Shop Kubath, Berholtz and Vite and attacking three Apico, White and Addikugby. So they continue to try and find a way to test Stephan Fry. Four shots on goal for Vancouver, no shots on targets.

Stephan Fry has been very quiet between the sticks for the Sounders. As we know, these are the types of games where maybe Stephan Fry needs to step up one or two times, make some big saves, protect that clean sheet and it comes to sound as give away by Vancouver. Middle of the parker Jordan plays the ball in towards Rothrock's able to collect it towards the end and cuts it back to Rosneck.

Speaker 9

Sounds slowly coming up into support.

Speaker 11

Nu gets it square to Christian Roaldan triple team by Vancouver, but the Sound has continued to move the ball at speed elude the Vancouver press as Vancouver put eleven men behind the ball and Rosneck nonchalantly just clips it towards Alex Roldan, as Brad Evans mentioned, just tucked in from that right backspot, playing in almost like a.

Speaker 9

Central midfield player.

Speaker 11

As the ball goes back all the way to Stephan, Fry, chased down by Brian White, continues to harry and press bull bounces through. Now it's picked up by Murris doubts of Georgia on his right hand side. Again, Georgia plays it across just lose Jordan.

Speaker 9

Tach Yoka comes out, slides picks it off the foot of Rothrocks, rolls it out to the far side the right.

Speaker 11

The crowd just let Laborda know that there's a player coming and he's plays it square and Vancouver come again.

Speaker 17

Well, it's the right ball from Georgia there and it's just out of the reach of Jordan. Okay, he looks up, knows that Jordan's there and it's a clipped in ball. I'd like to see Jordan lay out for that one. Why not take a chance and just get a foot on it. He might get a little raspberry, but nothing

a couple of days and won't heal after. But again, the sounder is applying pressure and finding a lot of joids and space in putting Vancouver under under pressure and much different than playing with five in the back right. The three in the back of tonight has afforded Jordan the opportunity to really push into space and be that link and get his outside midfielders in that front three involve more in this one.

Speaker 11

His shot rolls it into Vta, who comes across the field, plays it in behind the back four to Peacock, clips towards the backstick, bounces through Sepan Fry comes.

Speaker 9

Out, doesn't get it great block off the line. Stephan Fry just midsjudged that bounce. It's caught in no man's land. Sounders need to wake up.

Speaker 11

Ball comes in quickly in front of burhol To back to Pico, clips it in towards the six yard box, headed clear by Yama. Will see you clear that ball off the line. I think it was Reagan or Yama. But great defending by the Sounders and there's to back up their goalkeeper.

Speaker 9

Cephan Fry made a slight.

Speaker 11

Judgment error judgment and Sounders are able to clear their lines preserve this one goal lead. Here in the fifty ninth minute, ball comes in, bounces through and Cep Fry let the ball roll out of bounce and there's gonna be in substitution for Vancouver. It's gonna be Levonte Johnson's gonna come on shot for the Austrian play time at Shalka, grew up in the fine media use system. He's gonna come off the field and now Levonte Johnson, Canadian player

played at Syracuse. There was a draft pick in twenty twenty three, signed just over a year ago, is a professional contract. It's been a lively addition to the squad that time, both as a starter and now comes off the bench.

Speaker 17

The Sounders put under some significant pressure there as they allow Vancouver to play out of the back and then all of a sudden it's a one touch ball in behind and Jackson Reagan gets caught in space, just almost ball watching there and that Stephen Frye got's kind of got caught in between two minds there Should I come? Should I go? And then it's new who with a last ditch effort to clear that one off the line. But credit to the Sounders defenders are covering for their goalkeeper.

Speaker 9

That made it that typical A yeah, Sounders A just formless sleep for a few minutes. There's another little fumble by step fran Frye.

Speaker 11

We talked about step and pride not being involved and it has been involved a.

Speaker 9

Couple of times. Just wouldn't sure in that handling is decision maker, but I'm sure he'll pull himself out of that.

Speaker 11

And uh, Sounders come again this nearside, the right way Georgie and ever present option.

Speaker 9

On this right hand side.

Speaker 11

Sounders midfield player, the experienced midfield showing a ton of confidence in the young kids. They continue to find him with the ball. They know he's got a bit between his teeth. Certainly, Vancouver showing respect.

Speaker 9

By dropping off now as he picks the ball up top of the eaching yard box, just wriggles free, nice little ball a little bit over the top of Jordan Morris has it, plays it towards the right hand side, covered by Blackman, rolls it back out to Alex Roldan, comes back to his brother Christian rolls into the top of the box a little step over Vargas has it, tries to find the bottom corner, collected easily by tack Yoka in the Vancouver Gold But good build up by the sounders.

Speaker 17

Yeah, I'm all done from the sounders there, and it's Georgie's great civity and willingness to take guys on. It draws three Vancouver defenders and it's a little flick that he pulls off there somehow, and you just see Jordan Marris's first step of acceleration. It's impossible to mark if you're a Vancouver defender. And you know, we've seen Gonzo Pineda score a goal here just like that from the

top of the box. But he's he always finds the top corner in those ones, and I think Obed's got to reach for that top corner if he's gonna hit it inside foot and try to catch Takaoka. It's too easy to hit that one on the ground and for the keeper to save it. He's got to pick that one out and really make the goalkeeper stretch for it.

Speaker 9

Thankouver have it.

Speaker 11

Johnson getting involved early after coming off the bench to Vita now playing on that right hand side. Shot off the field be co shifted from the right to the left now to even get some more joy against Alex trold On, New playing well on the left hand side, shutting him down for the most part in this game, finds Levonte Johnson just trying to sidestep Jackson.

Speaker 9

Reagan finds the foot of New.

Speaker 11

Who just complicated slowly but comes off Johnson's could be a thrown for the sounder deep on their left hand side, and talks about Jordan Morris. This is his thirtieth start of the regular season. It's been involved in all thirty two regular season games. The only games he's missed this season have been the first two games in US Open Cups.

So not only is he performing and having a career year relative to goals was thirteen on his season out beating twenty sixteen's tally of twelve, but his resilience to be on the field week in week out, it is something that has certainly been improved.

Speaker 17

Well, he's a leader now right by whether he wants to or doesn't want to. It's ten years with the Sounders, and so you automatically become a veteran presence, and when the younger guys look up to you can't take days off. Even at his you know, he's relatively young for being a veteran player.

Speaker 11

It comes a long throw by Blackman, good header by Roll Dn Jordan Morris picks it, a ball kind of

dies on the turf. The Border flicks around the corner of Vancouver have it in posis twenty five yards from gold left side, this near side Daddy Kugby, who's gonna cut in towards his right foot challenge by Electroll Darn Georgie back to help support the Border, likes to come off that back line of three and push up the field as VT rolls it out to this near side, the left whipped in towards the sixth clear eventually by

Yemas to be picked up by Georgie. Got acres of space to run into now as he crosses a half way line this right hand side, Rothrock makes an overlapping run option to his right. Georgie rolls it to Roth a little slop it on that pass, but Rothrop picks it up good quick feet, breaks down.

Speaker 9

It's gonna be a penalty. It is a penalty.

Speaker 11

The referee took a good hard look at it, took a moment just to replay in his mind, and then had no hesitation.

Speaker 9

And that just sums up Paul Rothrock.

Speaker 11

Ball bounced around, he picked up a loose ball, dropped his shoulder, wriggled free, pulled down.

Speaker 9

Sounds ever a chance.

Speaker 17

To go up two goals, And that's different level from Paul Rothrock there to have that awareness inside the box and just slow yourself down and almost take a breath and let the play develop for you. Oftentimes you see attackers take a big touch and then drag their foot. He actually does the opposite. He fakes like he's gonna take a big touch and he lets the player almost take out his legs for him there in that situation. And that's a veteran heads up play And at the

end of the day, it's an assist for me. If Rusnak puts this one in the back of the net. But well done from the Sounders. You saw that play develop it was becoming a four v three and Rothrock comes from all the way on the other side of the field to round Georgie. Not the best ball from Georgie, but it's the patience from Rothrock to set this one up.

Speaker 11

Here it comes Russnick, hands on his hip standing outside the eighteen yard bought six yards or so from the bold straight on.

Speaker 9

Is he gonna ark his run? He does, a couple of steps to his left, comes up, strikes the ball bottom corner.

Speaker 11

Absolutely no doubt by Russneck his ninth goal in the season, and the Sounders go up two goals to nil.

Speaker 17

If you hit that one low and hard, the keeper is always gonna have a difficult time getting there. He chooses to come across his body a slow run up, but just absolutely smashes this one in the bottom corner, touches side netting before it touches anything, and that's a fantastic finish keeper with absolutely no chance. Keeper does kind

of get out in front of it. But at the end of the day, when the ball's hit low and hard with pace, it's always gonna skip on the turf and almost pick up speed as it hits the back of the net and the Sounders are off and running. Here to nil already in the sixty fifth minute, one assist and now one goal in his ninth for Rouznek, his ninth goal in the season and his fourteenth assists on the season.

Speaker 11

This evening continues to play at a high, high level for the sound It took over the number ten spot from club legend Ladero Brian Schmittza challenged him to put the team on his shoulders early in the season when the Sounders were struggling and he stepped up big time goals and assists. It continues to lead and dictate tempo in the middle of the park. Now the Sounders have

their all important two goal lead. But we know in this sport that two nil can sometimes be one of the most dangerous leads in sport or soccer as they say it. But you'd much prefer to be two nil up then two nil down. And now the crowd continue to try and get behind their team somewhat, No, they just echo around this stadiums Now need to put the

foot in the ball and really control tempo. Now they continue to dominate not just in goals but possession as well, sixty two percent possession on the game so far.

Speaker 9

Stephro and Fry.

Speaker 11

Launches it long, no risks to be taken in the back line for the Sounders, preserve their clean sheet. They get the three points and then they'll move up that Western Conference standings. If you look at life standings right now, Sounders.

Speaker 9

In third position.

Speaker 11

And here they come again with Rouznak, ball to the left hand side to roth Or inside the box.

Speaker 9

He goes chance with his left foot strikes it in the back of the net. Two goals in the last two games for Rothrock and the third goal in the night for the Sounders. They lead three to nail.

Speaker 17

Well, Paul Rothrock just absolutely fancying himself here and that's just way too easy for the Sounders to break free. And it's a well time challenge from Jordan Morris that makes this play and we haven't seen it too often, and Jordan playing that target striker, but he's the one that rises up and challenges and it's a flick on right to Rusnak and then off you go. It's a three v two and Paul does what Paul does. He puts himself in the right spot where he should be,

takes a couple of touches towards goal. That's what we've been asking these guys. Take your first touch towards goal, and you either make the goalkeeper make the decision for you, or goalkeeper gives up the far posts and it's an easy inside foot pass that finds the back of the net.

Speaker 11

Paul rothrock fifth goal on his regular season, and that has hushed and already quiet crowd.

Speaker 9

You'd have to think at this point, based on the.

Speaker 11

Sounders defensive prowess this season, that that is going to be that here at BC Place, we're gonna want to make sure they do the professional job and just shut up shop.

Speaker 17

Are here in the sixty eighth minute, Well, now you start to think about this weekend, right, you got the big game at Colorado. You've given yourself a three goal cushion. Like you said earlier, to nil, you probably don't make the subs. But now that you're up three to nothing in the sixty eighth minute, I think Schmeetz probably waits four or five more minutes to get this one in the seventies and then maybe make some changes, get some guys off as you know, you go to Colorado, you're

playing at altitude. That's a big six point game. Once again, Well, they can't afford to give anything away here. In the next couple minutes, you saw DC United was down I think three to one today and ended up winning four to three with goals in the ninety six and ninety eighth minute of that game.

Speaker 9

It comes Georgie drops his shoulder, plays the ball back to oh Bed.

Speaker 11

To Rosnik fifteen assists on his season so far. Find Vargas rolls it out to Alex Roldan to Christian roll dan As for player to step through, but all too easy for the sound As they win the ball back at the foot of Rosnick, they'll score that second goal. Sound has scored two goals in two minutes. So let's get you to the bench for the.

Speaker 9

Sounders because the Sounders will start making changes.

Speaker 11

As Brad Evans mentioned, Nathan Netensio, de la Vega, Bell Massovski, Readmaker Whiting, Andrew Thomas, the goalkeeper, Danny Labor and then Dylan Tevez. As we look down the three white shirts getting ready to come on for Vancouver, all bounced back to VTEs who rolls it out to Burholter turns without real pressure.

Speaker 9

Christian Roldan comes across. Now alex Onto.

Speaker 11

Pico whips it in, headed clear by Yam are picked up again by George. Paul goes in almost finds Jordan Morrison behind Willam Runner and Jordan had space behind Georgia wasn't able to find it. But here comes Peak up, drops his shoulder. Well read by Alex Ordan finds Vargas. Nice little play by the sound as they build out a pressure.

Speaker 9

Now the foot of.

Speaker 11

Jackson Reagan just clips it towards Georgie almost through the legs of Burholter goes out for throwing. This near sign for the Sounders gives Vancouver the chance to make their substitutions, and we'll see what changes they will be. See Ralph Priso, signed in March of this year, played to Colorado and Toronto. He's gonna come on the field. It's gonna be the border comes off. It's gonna be Blackman that comes off.

It's gonna be Kubas that comes off. There's gonna be Utvik that's gonna come on the field and play in the back line alongside Vasillanovich attacking changes or Campo New signing signed in August from Colombia. He's gonna come on the field, so ut Vic, Priso and Ocampoll come on.

Speaker 9

We'll see how Vancouver changed things up, if.

Speaker 11

They'll change formations or go more attacking, or try and just contain the Sounders here and not get embarrassed. Sound is leading three nil here in the seventy first minute BC play Sports Radio nine to fifty KJR clean sheet last week against Houston. Right now sitting on a clean sheet for Stephen Fry. Ugets rolled out to Jackson Reagan. Sound has continue to be strong defensively. Now they're adding their goals and they've got plenty of players still to come off the bench.

Speaker 9

And see a couple of.

Speaker 11

Those getting ready now, Redbaker, Whiting, josh A Tensia. We'll see the changes. Brian Schmittza makes Sounds need to keep professional, make sure they keep.

Speaker 9

The ball moving.

Speaker 11

Here comes Vessel Lenovich rolls it out to the far side of or Campo drops his shoulder, could defend him by a new clash of two big bodies who kind of fell on the ball and the system referee just a couple of yards away. They knew who's just getting involved. Doesn't need to do that at all. Use his experience should walk away. Sounders don't need to go down to ten men. They've already had red cards against Vancouver this season.

But it's going to be a free kick for the for Vancouver five yards or so from the end line on the right hand side.

Speaker 17

Well, I think, like you said, the Sounders have to be good and patient certain situations and not let this game get away from him. Yes, it's already the seventy second minute, but there's opportunities for the Sounders to just keep the ball and maintain possession, not give Vancouver anything.

Speaker 11

Here's a free kick for Vancouver. Ball comes in heady clear by rolled On, picks up by Vita top of the box, tries to find the corner of the gold picked up by Stephan fry All decked down, all yellow Sounders in there. Bruce Lee kit tonight, red shirts, black shorts, black socks, attacking the goal to our right. Score two goals in two minutes. Here at BC Places, Rothrocks is a nice switch to the ball from the left hand side to his near side the right fence. Alex rolled

On rolls it about to yeam On. No real press from Vancouver. Maybe they're thinking forward now in terms of their upcoming games. There last game of the season against RSL that could have playoff position implications. Of course, we'll get some of those score lines around the Western Conference that will impact the Sounders and how they fare at the end.

Speaker 9

Of this evening. In terms of position. Right now, I look down on my screen, sound to sit in third position. We'll get shifted from center of the park to the far side the left of Rothrock goalscorer offside system referees puts his flag up. Rothrock just crept off side on the far side. I think he's gonna come off. Could be given a breather. It's gonna be read Baker Whiting. That's gonna come on that left hand side. Rothrock's gonna

walk off the far touch line. Of course, you have ten seconds to get off the field with these new rules.

Speaker 11

This also looks like it maybe Christian rolled on. They both walk off together. High five by Christian rolled on. He's gonna be replace by Josh Attensio so lightful like Switcher.

Speaker 9

The Tentio comes on alongside Vargas in the middle of the park. Use his athleticism.

Speaker 11

He's gonna shut things down and then read Baker Whiteing's gonna solidify that left hand side in place of goalscorer Rothrock.

Speaker 9

It comes Georgie.

Speaker 11

Good play into the middle too, Rosa balling behind to Jordan Morris. Can he be tach yo good towet cud you just try to clip it past tach Yoko. Tach Yoka came out well smothered the ball good saved by the goalkeeper who was a twenty twenty three MLS Goalkeeper of the Year nominee, did his job there, sounds still lead three nil.

Speaker 17

Bread evers Well, I showed it there and that I mean that ball is inch perfect from Albert Rusnak. But Takahoka just comes off his line there and makes the right play. He hasn't had much to do in the way of possibly making safe tonight, but when called upon, he's been pretty commanding. And that's just a good save, but good heads up play from Albert Rusnak. They're recognizing that my first pass has to be forward right, much like Paul roth Rock tonight had a great shift, get

him some rest. Now he heads into Colorado and of course Christian rolledon just all around talisman in the middle and just he can't say enough about a Christian rolled on and what he brings to this team.

Speaker 11

There comes Peico top of the box, sound and still needs to defend. Here can they get that clean sheet for Stephen fry Ball goes out to the left hand side for Vancouver, closed down by Georgia. Getting back to do his defensive duties, VT whips it in towards the Backstickner's left foot headed away by Knew, who frustrated himself but did the safe thing, puts it over the end line corner kick. Vancouver sound as lead three nil, fifteen minutes to go with ninety.

Speaker 17

But any time you make you make subs right. It's great to have a three to nothing lead and then you can make some changes. And that's what you want as a player. I wanna come into games and say I'm gonna give seventy minutes if we go up three to nothing. Ultimately I'm gonna get twenty twenty five minutes of arrests at the end of this game. And that's a credit to Christian and roth Rock for putting in

the work and then getting rewarded for it. Manoongoo, now and Jordan, we'll get some minutes for these other guys.

Speaker 9

Yep, Danny Mssofski comes on for Jordan Morris. Georgia Manungo off the field.

Speaker 11

Great night for Georgie, his first goal in MLS for the sound as congratulations to Georgie. Danny Massoski gets his first minutes for some time, and Dela Vega comes on the field. So it's gonna be interesting for Brian Schmetz or Brad Georgia Maninga comes in for Dela Vega gets a goal, constant threat on that right hand side.

Speaker 9

Now Brian Schwetz has got what you always want for coaches is options.

Speaker 17

Well, you've got Paul Rothrock scoring a goal tonight once again to games in a Road.

Speaker 9

We talked to Schwetz about Paul comes into Brian White.

Speaker 11

Great save by Fry preserves that clean sheet, headed over the end line for a corner cake for Vancouver, but brilliant safe as the assistant referee puts his flag up seconds later.

Speaker 9

Really could play by Stephan Fryan.

Speaker 11

We talked about Stephan Fryan not needing to do too much in this game, and we talked about him needing step up maybe once or twice to preserve that clean sheet when he didn't just then.

Speaker 17

Yeah, well look, ultimately it's our sides, but you play until the whistle blows, and that that's a credit to Stephan Fry and his professionalism. I'm not sure why this one's whistled offside, but Steph makes a fantastic save on the ground there. And as a striker, that's what you're taught. You come low and hard across. And Schmidt's read that

one like he's read that book a thousand times. But he's made a couple of big saves tonight to keep the sounders in this one, especially when they were only up one nothing.

Speaker 9

Before giving away.

Speaker 11

Picked up middle apart by Vancouver, rolls it out to the far side to a Campo drops his shoulder towards the end.

Speaker 9

I could defend him by this. Stands up just Clare's it oak Hampo.

Speaker 11

It's gonna be a goalkick for the sound is here in the seventy eighth minute, sound.

Speaker 9

Is lead three to nil NBC place Well.

Speaker 11

Sound as FCSKA is presented by Provident Swedish Official healthcare Pauna of Sounders fc.

Speaker 17

Well to go to your previous point right now, it's up to Schmidt's he's gonna have to make decisions.

Speaker 31

Now.

Speaker 17

You got a guy and Paul Rothrock who's scoring goals. You got a guy in Georgia who got his first goal tonight, and every time he touches the ball, defenders are scared and it's not gonna matter who he's going up against where he's at. But then you got Pedro de la Vega, who's a massive signing, who just can't seem to get his feet underneath him. What's the right coaching decision? I think you goal with Georgie and Paul, but sometimes there's bigger things at play and you want

to keep guys relatively happy. He's got his work cutout for him to manage that situation. I don't want to beat him.

Speaker 11

No bull goes out of bounds or Camba trying to whip it in from the right hand side.

Speaker 9

It cold out and then back in. It's gonna be a goal kick for the sound.

Speaker 11

Is been a little bit sloppy in the last few minutes, just giving the ball away at some point. Sometimes you may need to go a little bit long just to clear your lines break that pressure.

Speaker 3

Well.

Speaker 11

This copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, to reproduce or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. So ball rolls out of bounds right in front the Sounder's bench, system referees, flag goes in the direction of Vancouver.

Speaker 9

Pico throws it in quickly. Rosneck's still out there. His ninth goal the season is fifteenth assists of the season, two assists and one goal tonight. So not a bad outing from the Sounders number eleven.

Speaker 17

Well for a guy that was at Salt Lake and had a fifteen to sixteen assist twelve goal season. Then they'll come in to here and then have to go play as it really as a number eight and now have a revitalization of statistics and getting on the end of things. It says so much about what quality Rusnak has and what he means to this Sounders team. And there's a reason why he's here, and he's only gonna continue to grow as you get confident. That's how you make changes in games, and he's been fantastic.

Speaker 9

Well, sound has found a sound as FC scores.

Speaker 11

Any time after the eighty eighth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from sharp Vision, modern Lasik and lens. Sign up today at soundersfc dot com slash laser focus. She's hit the eightieth minute mark. Vancouver Nils Sounders three Big Cascadi year game.

Speaker 9

Sounders will move up the standings. Started today with four points in Cascadies. The boar bounces up in the air inside the box. It goes cleared eventually by Yemar.

Speaker 11

Danny Mausoski picks it up well, does a good job, just heads it forward away from Burhols now strides forward into the Vancouver half of the field. Just going to maintain possession, use that experience multi ball at well know who comes into support, rolls it back to Jackson, Reagan rolls it square to Yamar.

Speaker 9

Pressure from pea coach. Need to be sharp in the back, don't want to give up a goal and sloppily here. Bryan Schwetz will be demanding sharpness by his team. They continue to lead in possession sixty percent possession of the game so far for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

As we mentioned, big game coming up this Saturday. The Vancouver have it, rolls it into.

Speaker 17

Four.

Speaker 9

Is he a little shrug off?

Speaker 11

The ball picked up by yea my free kick given by the referee. It was Cacedo who eventually got pulled down. It's gonna be a free kick for Vancouver, twenty.

Speaker 9

Five yards or so left of center. Chance to test Stefan freiing goal.

Speaker 17

Well, Alex Rowdon's asking Josh Litenzia why he's playing him that ball in the middle of the parks. It's an immediate turnover and now the sounder is under pressure here with the right footed free kick. This one goes up and over the wall. And we've seen Stephan Fry get beat by these here in Vancouver a couple times times. We'll see if he over plays this one with a couple steps to his right and is trying to get the attention of his wall to do the job. Well.

Speaker 11

Brian White is off the field now, so they're fifteen gold man both in twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four.

Speaker 9

Only two players that have done.

Speaker 11

And achieved that active players is Bowonga and Cuco Hernandez. He's off the field getting rested up for the next game, and it comes to cause said it's gonna whip it over the wall heads hits straight to the head of Jackson Reagan, while played by the wall did their job like coopers. Still have it with Burholt to right hand side and the clip it towards the back six beeen an area of danger for the Sounders picked up eventually by attention.

Speaker 9

Now can he stride forward, plays the ball into a Rosnick, puts his front, the ball calmly goes square to Vargas head up, chase down by Dakoba, given away by Vargas, clip forward by Vta.

Speaker 11

Sounds a little bit sloppy right now. I just need to get a grip of this. As they lead three to nil into the final ten minutes of the game, it comes Pico left corner of the box, drops his shoulder to his right foot, clips it in easily collected by Stepan Fry.

Speaker 9

He will take that all day long. As he rolls the ball out to a Rosnick.

Speaker 11

To read Baker Whiting on that left hand side, He's going to stride forward, A camp is going to come across. Good play by Read, just drop the shoulder, plays it into Vi la Vega turns out a pressure well square from Rosnick to a Tensia into the attacking third of the field. Now for the sound as Musoski has he's going to clip it towards the right hand side, given away sloppy by Alex, rolled on Mussoski asking.

Speaker 9

Alex to move forward. There's me Vancouver who get a bill out the back.

Speaker 11

But as you mentioned, your Sounders are back on the road to take on the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, October fifth at six thirty pm Pacific. Watch the match by the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on nine to fifty K to your AM and l Ray thirteen sixty am. The Provident Swedish premuch show

starts at six pm. Sounders leading here at BC Place, home of the twenty twenty six FIFA World Cup, just like Luminfield is and she was mentioned in the last broadcast and I'm sure that she had been sitting under a rock. The Sounders will be hosting the Club World Cup next summer twenty twenty five, where the Sounders will be playing in this new Club.

Speaker 9

World Cup put on by FIFA.

Speaker 11

The likes of buying Munich, Barcelona, Real, Madrid, Man City, Chelsea.

Speaker 9

We'll see which other teams get thrown into the mix.

Speaker 11

FOCA Junior's river plate it could be a mouthwatering prospect to see Brian Schmittz shaking hands with potentially likes of Carlo Ancelotti Pep Guardiola in a competitive game. We've played in these friendly games of course over the years, but this is truly when the sounder is going to be in full flow, middle of the season, fully fit, and they got a chance to play a competitive game against

the very best. It comes Alex Roldan just rolls it out to this near side to Rosnick still on the field, just getting his minutes to assist one goal on the night for him. All three starting players in the attacking three midfield spots got gold, Georgie, Rosneck and Rothrock.

Speaker 9

But here comes Vancouver down the left hand side out at gugby Lemonte Johnson makes his run easily collected again by Stephan Frey.

Speaker 17

Well, I'm trying to imagine a world where we've come fifteen years since we played Barcelona and just this league alone, the talent and what we aren't going to be able to show in this tournament is leaps and bounds from

what it was when all MLS teams were doing. We're playing friendly games here in the US, and like you said, it's gonna mean something, and to have all three of those games at home in Seattle is absolutely massive, And I just can't wait to be a spectator and be there just to witness the passion from our crowd, because you know they're gonna turn out like We're gonna have to talk to the final and twenty.

Speaker 28

Talk to Akille about having that game on the radio, because I'll definitely want to be calling a game when Mumbape gets whacked down by Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 9

Oh it comes Vancouver. Given away by the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Caseto inside the box, turn shoots just wide, ask him for a deflection, asking for a corner kick given by the referee. It's gonna be a corner kick here for Vancouver. Four minutes to go of ninety sounds lead three to zero.

Speaker 17

Well, this is like you said, Sounder is feeling complacent in how they want to play. You make subs. You have to come on the field and make a statement. You can't let your guard down even when you're up three to nothing in these games. Now the Sounders dude just out. Instead of just playing a safe playing a long play out of pressure, they invite the pressure and then give the ball away and ultimately give up a corner.

Speaker 9

Cack corner kick comes in for Vancouver.

Speaker 11

Heady clip Jonathan Bell's come on for new who like for like switch on that left hand side. Vita clips it in for Vancouver towards the backstick. Jonathan Bell's first job of tonight's clearing his lines from that cross picked by Vita, who's been on the ball.

Speaker 9

In these last few minutes.

Speaker 11

Ball gets slipped in towards Levonte Johnson, good defending by Atensio Yima rolls it out square to rolled on great ball into the foot of Rosnack.

Speaker 9

He strides forward, now across the half white line. He goes chased down by Peacock, gets knocked down.

Speaker 11

Is that gonna be a second yellow? But look down, I think he's on a yellow card and it is gonna be a yellow card. It's gonna be an SGB yellow card and then a red card for far for Peako. So it goes from bad to worse for Vancouver. Pico will miss the next game. There'll be a second yellow and now a red And I think that signed, sealed and delivered for the Sounders.

Speaker 9

Where was next?

Speaker 11

Still on the ground, It was an awkward challenge by Pico. Hopefully nothing too serious for alb But but when a fella was called SGB try lawis to hear to help us sgbdsh law dot com.

Speaker 17

Well, listen, I understand you're frustrated as a player, but at the end of the day, Peacault's got to recognize that situation. He's a veteran of this team and he knows better, and to commit a silly foul like that and now leave his team a man down, walking off the pitch in front of his own fans, already taking off the jersey, just not showing that respect, grabs the ball, kicks it, hits a policeman, now has to go apologize for kicking him with a soccer ball.

Speaker 9

So I just kind of that kind of sums up. Yeah. Crowded, quiet there leaving. I'm not sure if the crowd will be any noisier with half the crowd here to be honest or less noisy, It's been a quiet night from the Vancouver faithful.

Speaker 11

Vancouver, of course, came into this game with a chance to clinch the Cascadia Cup. They were sitting on top of the standings with eight points sounds whim third position with four points.

Speaker 9

Now the Sounders will shift up to.

Speaker 11

Level with Portland at seven points, so it's all to play for Indecision day between Portland and the Sounders relative to Casscadia Cup. Let's get you a couple of scores around the league as well, especially in this Western Conference. LAFC leading one nil against Saint Louis citys who mentioned already eliminated from the tournament.

Speaker 9

Austin leading one nil at Portland.

Speaker 11

It comes Vancouver again, striding forward with Johnson left the corner of the box against Yamar plays the through.

Speaker 9

M just gonna see this one out. No, it turns out a pressure could play by Yama.

Speaker 11

Ball wasn't gonna roll out of bounds. Dangerous ball by Atensi across an eighteen yard box. I'm not sure that's gonna help Brian Schmetz's blood pressure now given away by Jonathan Bell.

Speaker 9

Sounders need to make sure they can see this one out.

Speaker 11

They want to get the clean sheet for Steph van Fry's second clean sheet in two games.

Speaker 9

It's gonna hit double figures.

Speaker 17

Well, it's to night. Yemar and Alex will Don have been both fantastic and Yemar once again, I thought in the Houston game, he ate up everything that Houston had to offer. An Alex Roldan shifting into a more midfield role and attack tonight has just been that connector and it's allowed the Sounders to overload that midfield and just

end this game with an advantage. And then also some timely interceptions and then it's the immediate pass out of pressure that has allowed the Sounders to really maintain possession and hit. Are they above sixty five percent so far?

Speaker 9

Yeh's see they are sixty percent just a moment ago, Yeah, sixty one percent.

Speaker 11

So I think I would say the last five or so minutes where Vancouver have had their foot in the ball has certainly taken that down. Ball gets clipped in towards the h and yard box, cleared by Vargas, now picked up by Reed Baker White and down to the deck goes because Berholtz, but picked up by Missoski.

Speaker 9

Now strikes forward across the halfway line, far side the left. We get here in the final minute or so of the game.

Speaker 11

So referee give us another yellow card for a Vancouver player. And that's another SGB yellow card when I found was called SGB trial lawyers are here to help. Visit SGB dash law dot com well SGB trial Lawyer's got their money's worth tonight, no doubt about it. Four minutes of

added time, three minutes to go. As we tick to the ninety one minute mark, it's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders twenty five yards from the end line, left side, all goes back to Bell and all the way back to Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 9

Sounders are gonna be patient in their build up Vancouver just want to see this game out.

Speaker 11

I will scratch my head sometimes and a referee puts four minutes on the clock when you got a teen that's obviously thrown in the towel and a team leaving three.

Speaker 9

Mili just doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 11

Just I get rules and I get time, and you're probably judged on certain things like that by the referee committees. But sometimes I feel like common sense can prevay, especially this time of the season. You don't need any player to get silly injury or do something silly. They come the Sounders with Dela Vega just steps on the ball, gives the ball away.

Speaker 9

Not what Dela Vega would want. We'll see what he his role will be this weekend.

Speaker 11

It's getting more minutes as Dela Vega certainly strengthening his ability to be on the field for longer as it comes back from niggling injuries throughout the year.

Speaker 9

We'll see a couple of results of other results.

Speaker 11

Game still going on as San Jose Earthquakes three, Dallas one, Colorado Rapids going down three goals to one at home to LA Galaxy rail Salt Lake nil, Minnesota United nil, use some two to one winners against New England. So as it stands right now, LAFC leading one nil. As you mentioned, they're gonna stay in second place. LA Galaxy in first place with sixty one points with their win,

LAFC with fifty five points in second place. The Sounders currently sit in third place with fifty three points, level in points with Salt Lake, but they have one additional win which is the first tiebreaker fifteen wins against Salt Lake's fourteen wins, and Houston sit with fifty one points, Colorado with fifty, Vancouver with forty seven, and then we'll see how things play out here at the bottom end of the table.

Speaker 9

Portland forty five points all but solidified their position.

Speaker 11

As Austin sitting thirty nine points, two games to go for each other's teams. We'll see how things play out in terms of tie breakers. Portland on twelve wins Austin on ten will be gold differential if they goes down to it, and Portland have a much superior goal difference by eighteen. So looks like things are shaping up nicely

in the playoffs. Here's Vancouver clipped the ball towards the back stick, headed up and away by Jonathan Bell, picked up well by Rouznek, turns quickly, looks forward, looks for options, goes back to Vargas. Has been steady Eddy and a fishing in the middle of the park as obed, and Brian Schmittz is able to bring some of those players like Christian all done as you mentioned three hundred and forty all comp games. Tonight sits in second on his own,

just above Ossie a Lonzo with three thirty nine. So you have to think, prad that Brian Schmetzer will really enjoy that drive back down I five tonight, knowing that two games to go they're in a very strong position. And there's the referees whistle finally brings this game to an end to the inevitable conclusion. Well, it was Georgia Manungo with his first goal for the Sounders in MLS.

He got the Sounders going in the fourteenth minute assists from Morris and Rosneck, and there was Rosneck himself stepped up.

Speaker 9

It's a slot in a penalty won by Paul Rothrock. That was in the sixty fifth minute.

Speaker 11

And then just two minutes later Rothrock picks up a ball in transition and guides it into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Speaker 9

That was a second assist on.

Speaker 11

The night for Rouzneck and a second assist on the night for Jordan Morris.

Speaker 9

So job done for the Sounders.

Speaker 11

Efficient professional performance, Brad, your final thoughts.

Speaker 17

Yeah, this one had Sounders written on it the entire game, from minute one. We saw it from up here. Vancouver just came in a little bit disinterested. And I don't know if it was a change of formation, if it was the opponent, if it was too many games in succession, But the Sounders came in here ready to win and

fight for this one, and they sure did. They'll send the Vans home happy, and they put themselves in a great position to have home field advantage with the Colorado Rapids team that lost the night to the LA Galaxy at home. You learn a couple of things from that one. If you pick up nine points in a week going into the playoffs off, you go well.

Speaker 11

Thanks reving involved in today's broadcast. Tony here on the board in the booth, Mitchell blyback of the studio.

Speaker 9

Keeley Dunning, Ryan Kahnes, Kevin Ka. Of course, the Sounders legend, Brad Evans.

Speaker 11

We'll see you back here on Saturday evening when the team flies into the Mark High City to face Colorado Rapids the penultimate game before Decision Day on October nineteenth, versus the Sounders.

Speaker 9

But for now we'll take a short break.

Speaker 11

Jackson Felt, Pete Feuing, and Kellen Rowe, who by the way, is the all time leader in assists against Vancouver In a single game in twenty twenty one, he got three assists. I'm sure he'll talk about that in the postgame. But from BC Place in Vancouver, big time win for the Sounders. It's white Caps nil Sounders three.

Speaker 2

Well, once again we have made our way up to Vancouver, and once again the Sounders have won. Here in Vancouver, it's a final from BC Place. Sounders dominate the white Caps three nothing. They have moved up to third place in the Western Conference with fifty three points. Weal sal Lake also have fifty three, but Sounders have the win on top of them fifteen to fourteen. They've also now topped them on goal differential. Sounders right now have fifteen

plus goal differential. That's second place in the Western Conference. By the way, LAFC is only on plus fourteen. A heck of a night here, What a night for Paul Rothrock, What a night for Albert rus Neck. What a night for Georgie Manoongu who scores his first career goal as the Sounders route Vancouver. Calen Row Pete viewing.

Speaker 3

My name is Jackson Feltz here for the postmatch show as we celebrate this three to nothing win. Let's just start off with with the opening thoughts. There's so many different things to get to, so many specific questions to ask about how this blowout came about. But Kellen opening thoughts on the three nothing to win. I'm just glad it was a blowout because it was there was a bit of an ease and loll to this game. And it may have been the fact that, you know, not

even half the stands were full. It was a Wednesday night and a midweek, and you know, Vancouver's missing their their big time player and Ryan Gld and the possession is I mean, I would I'd say upwards of seventy five percent for Seattle Sounders, and so you saw this loll. So I'm glad they finally got those goals in the second half because they were really needing it.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I agree with you because it could have gone you know, if Seattle doesn't get the two goals bang bang as they did, it could have been a nervy night at the end. But it was an interesting game because it became very wide open killing you said at halftime the wing play because of the way Vancouver was playing. It seemed as if we just had so much more space on the wings. And I'll tell you what, Paul Rothrock it's his second, maybe third time he's drawn a

penalty kick this year, right, does well? Georgie plays him a good little and then Albert Russnik now getting two assists he's won away from Nico. Jordan Morris got two assists tonight as well, so that gives him five for the season, which he's putting together a really nice year. And so and then I really was glad Steph got the shutout because he was under some pressure. I mean, you're gonna see the score if you didn't watch the game.

They go Seattle killed him. But there were a lot of balls in the box that for Stephen Fry to cover some ground, and he had some moments. There was one that he made a great save going to the carpet quick. It was called offside, but it was a really good save, showing how sharp he is. So momentum going into the playoffs, we all know that's very very important. It's a great bus ride home for the team and everybody on the bus, and then they get ready to

go off to Colorado. So it's a tight week, right That Colorado game is gonna come really fast for them. But to get the clean sheet, to get all those guys in, to be able to sub as many players as Brian Schmitzer was able to sub Attensio getting on Rebaker, Whiting, Pedro Massovski Bell that's a good thing as well, so it's a happy bus ride home. And three nothing is terrific.

And now third place and by the way, this thing, I love this right the last Since June fifteenth, the Sounders have more points than anybody else, eleven two and two. And we are so used to this team being successful. We heard all the noise this season about well, they're not that good, they're not this, they're not that. We didn't get any dps. But come on, we're in third place eleven two and two. That's very impressive for this squad.

Speaker 2

We are twenty four and five against teams not named LAFC since.

Speaker 3

The end of April. Okay, that's good, pretty darn good.

Speaker 2

You mentioned some statistics, and I love statistics. You mentioned Albert fifteen assists, now one off a Nico's record.

Speaker 3

Let's get to some more.

Speaker 2

Paul Rothrock now eight total goals in twenty twenty four, five in MLS two, in League's Cup, one in US Open Cup.

Speaker 3

Kellan.

Speaker 2

You also mentioned the possession there sixty percent was the final, but it did really feel like seventy to seventy five. It was just such a controlled game. But you know it's funny. I think this is a good avenue. We have to get to our Toyota man of the match. Anytime there's a shutout, you obviously have to look at Stephen Fray. You have to look at the defenders. Georgia Mnook's first career goal, Paul Rothrock had obviously his goal in a good game. Albert Rusnak has two assists, and

of course the penalty kick. There is a lot of contenders for who was the most important player for the Sounders today important.

Speaker 3

I think you're actually didn't even say his name, obd Vargas and I heard Danny talk about it on and he's just steady Eddie. He was one of those guys that continuously on the ball, had the maturity of just slowing the game down when needed. He made some good tackles when needed, and he had a few long balls that were right on the dime, right into Paul Rothrock's foot. So he's up there for me of guy when you talk about importance of a game today, especially with the

amount of like I said, ease that happened. He wasn't one that kind of stepped down and lulled in this game, and I think Ovid Vargas has has my vote.

Speaker 4

Well, that is a really ton because you got two assists in a goal for Albert Georgie. I thought it was dangerous. It was great that he got the goal. I'm gonna make I'm just gonna go with who got the most points out of the game.

Speaker 3

That's Albert, right, and get and a goal.

Speaker 4

You got to give it to him. But I'm with you. I thought Ovid was really good, smooth on the ball, good vision, turned out of trouble quite a bit, picked off a couple of important passes. So but I thought also Stephan Fry came up with a huge save in the nineteenth minute.

Speaker 3

Yeah right, And how different is the game if it's one? Well, this this game could have been different many of times. Right in the first half, they had three chances that were just clear cut, could have been a goal. We created another one here in the second half that could have been. Some good stops, some good saves and offside call. Thankfully, even though it was a good save. I mean, this game could have gone a lot differently than the three

zero result that it was. And these kind of games, you know, they can happen but you just turn on their head. It's one one. You're going, oh no, there's panic, and now that they have momentum, they continue to come down our throats. So it's it's a little bit different. But the fact that they were going to get the shut out, obviously Stephen Fry made some incredible says, especially in that nineteenth minute.

Speaker 4

Yeah you know what though, it's Georgie's first goal and it's his third start. See, I was just gonna say that, you know, And I bet Brian Spetzer would say, I give it to the ki And the kid was good.

Speaker 3

That's the thing too. It wasn't just that he was at the back post waiting for the Jordan header and there to get it and putting it in. I thought he played really well too. But ultimately, Pete, I think your first thought was correct here. The reality is the most.

Speaker 2

I mean, it's it's the points, and it's the two assists now one off of the club record. I mean, Albert Rusnak, here's another stat for you. Nine goals and fifteen assists just an MS play in his I think thirty games. Can anybody say designated freaking player? That's about right. He is making every dollar of his contract. A sensational

year for Albert Rusnak. Just continue tonight, So we're gonna say your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match Albert Rusnak with that big game. But again, Obed Steph, everybody, really, everybody more, everybody got a plus performance today for the Sounders.

Speaker 3

What a great day. Delta Airlines is probably donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by sunders See players this season through Ray Foundation's one Mile, one Ball program. I would like to just point out, by the way, every time the broadcast has come here to Vancouver, the Sounders have won. Twenty eighteen, we won Cascadia Cup, which, by the way, because the score finished three to nothing,

this sets up an interesting situation against Portland. On decision day, I was talking to Jeremiahshan, a Sounder at heart down there, and his stats I think are right here that if the Sounders even just tie Portland, they will finish with eight points on the Cascadia Cup campaign, and because all the teams will have eight points, it will go to goal differential.

Speaker 2

The Sounders will have it because of this three nothing win. So all we need to do is draw Portland that gets this Cascadia Cup. But heck, let's just go beat them for nothing and make it real easy. So with that said, the Sounders can't look at his decision day yet. They have one more game before that last game of the season. The penultimate game is against the Colorado Rapids. We'll talk about that later on. We still have to talk a little bit more about this three nothing demolition

of the Vancouver white Caps here at BC Place. We'll continue doing that next on Sports Radio nine fifty m.

Speaker 17

Gentlemen.

Speaker 3

We have to get to our Emerald Pink Casino, play the match and with all due respect to alber Rusnak, who is our man of the match, we're not gonna

include his penalty kick that made it to nothing. I think the two finalists for play the match are certainly between the first goal Georgia man noongoo's first goal of his career, that of course came off of the assist Rusnak and then headed on by Morris, or it's the great combination and final goal by Paul Rothrock that made it three nothing, where you have assists by once again Morris and Rusnak. So I think that the debate is the first goal or the third goal for play of

the match. Kellen, We'll start with you. What do you think I'm gonna throw a wrinkle in here and actually say that there's another one that's the double save in the nineteenth minute to keep us in the game. And I think that is not where I'm gonna go. But it's a good thing. You gotta go to the first goal. It's Georgie mcnongoy. You never forget your first and especially in the way it happened. You see the celebration all

the guys around him. You know, in your two stars for the year in Albert Rusnak and Jordan Mars with the assist. It's it's got to be that one for me.

Speaker 4

Well, and I liked the diversity and the variety of the restarts that we'd had leading to that. That was about the third one and so all of a sudden we find Georgie at the back post.

Speaker 17

So that was good.

Speaker 4

But I'm gonna go with the other goal because I thought it was a great ball to Jordan Morris. He kind of knew he was gonna get clobbed when he flicked that header on and then Rusnik picked out Uh Paul Roth. Paul had a good, very good first touch, a better second touch and then he just slotted it. And the timing of that goal, this was a very very quiet crowd. It became a morgue after that.

Speaker 3

So I thought I was back in New England in twenty twelve on a Wednesday night. It was it was wild and Tom Brady just kicked you off.

Speaker 4

Hey, we're gonna get at the end the game in the eightieth minute because Bronc and Brady when you warm up, yeah, yeah, I can't imagine. But it was such a clinical finish, right, And I.

Speaker 3

Think you make a good point p and I understand that that is the goal that ended it. But to go to Kellen's point, I'm gonna agree, you never forget your first And and for Georgie, who's we've been seeing him come on to this scene, we've been seeing that promise and yes it was just a simple tap in the back post, but he came off with a great set piece. So for our end, Queen Casino play the match. It is the goal that made up one nothing from Georgie Manongo.

Speaker 9

Georgie sitting on the goalkeeper bull comes in. It is Morris.

Speaker 11

Georgie gets his first goal for the Sounders, bundles' en off his thigh and the sound has taken early lead. And it's the smile of Georgie. We can see it from up here and the Sounders go up one nail.

Speaker 3

Great celebration by the way, between Georgie and Paul Rothrock two. They certainly enjoyed that. When the Play of the match is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of

the Northwest. Before we take a break quickly, we spent a lot of time Pete in the pre match show talking about Jordan Morris, his ability to play a lot of matches, you know, were saw again here and he came off a little earlier, just for rest, you'd think, so the element of you know, we're looking at the probability of a third match in eight days coming on Saturday. He put in another long shift, didn't get his goal, but he was obviously influential.

Speaker 4

Well. Brian Schpetzer said some really good things about the last three years to get him to this place right now, and that the in this group, the strength and conditioning group, the medical group, has done a great job to get him here. I thought he made a lot of good, dangerous runs. What I do like about Jordan Morrison maybe he should be a little more demanding when he makes those runs, but he doesn't look at his teammates throw his arms in the air. He's still willing to do

the hard work. And he put his body on the line on that on the last hover. He just knew he was going to get hit from behind.

Speaker 17

It.

Speaker 4

It wasn't that dramatic, but I thought he was dangerous a lot of the game. And you know that he's got what thirteen goals right now and five assists, so you know he's come a long ways.

Speaker 24

And I like that.

Speaker 4

Brian Schmitzer said, he's in his prime right now, and he's gone through a year where he's had to really win that spot to keep that spot, and he's done that. So I'm proud of the kid. You know, he's two ACLS, he's type one diabetes. We forget about some of these things sometimes, right, he gets kicked a ton, It never complains. You never see him flopping. So I'm happy where he's at right now. I would love to see him get

twenty goals. Seven more goals. You know, we got two and we've got two regular season.

Speaker 3

Games, so we start with fifteen.

Speaker 4

Well I'm including postseason, right, so I think it's you know, he can be a multi I used to say to Bobby McAllister, you're a multi goal scoring scorer. I'm not sure that's proper English, but Jordan has that ability. You know, San Jose, you got the two goals. So I'm just happy that he's playing the way he's playing and getting the rewards and getting to assist and night is great for him.

Speaker 2

I think also twenty I think, sorry, seventeen total goals I think across all competitions this year, so twenty in that regard very doable.

Speaker 3

Well, he has the chance. But we talk about, you know, his resilience and his professionalism and him getting back into starting and all these things. But look, I'm looking at the last is going to going into the last two games of this season, going into the playoffs. They've obviously had a long stretch, especially through that summer with the League's Cup continuously playing, but they did have about a week off beforehand. They've played a lot of games this year.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see his starting eleven out there that is the same starting eleven as quick as possible, as many times as possible. The guys that are know, they know each other, they.

Speaker 4

Have right now. We were making one change from what you're making.

Speaker 3

You're making one change, but that one change actually was a positive, and you saw guys actually look for him in many ways. So yeah, Georgie, Georgie. You saw in the first half, especially when he took a guy on, he beat him. He played across. Okay, it wasn't the best cross. I think two passes later, ball was back at him, and everyone's back in the box of thinking,

all right, he's gonna go out of them. A lot of faith there's a lot of faith in him, and so that that one doesn't drop as much as you think. But you look at abround the leagues across the world and you're seeing the same eleven most of the time, especially when it comes to big games. And these are big games. Now, these are games that you need to have, whether it's Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, when I don't care, you need to have your your top eleven guys on the field.

And I think at the moment that this is this is what they have.

Speaker 2

Well, three days from right now, the Sounders will be in Colorado. Will we see the same lineup with maybe just a slight tweak. We'll talk about the big game against Colorado ahead. Sounders are coming off a three to nothing win here at BC Place in Vancouver against the y Caps. It's all celebratory here and we will continue on the postgame show next on Sports Radio nine to fifty KJRM.

Speaker 12

Hey, they're Sounders fans. All of us at Sound Transit love when you take the train to the match, but we want to remind you to use crosswalks and obey traffic signals near tracks. Trains are quieter than you expect. Travel in both directions and approach at varying speeds that are difficult to judge. The amount of time you might say by ducking or going around a crossing gate isn't worth risking your life for. So next time you're buy a track, play it safe.

Speaker 1

That way, we all win a message from Sound Transit.

Speaker 3

Welcome back to BC Place here in Vancouver, Canada, where the Sounders took care of business tonight against the white Caps. They blew them out three nothing goals by Georgia Mnindu the first of his early career, as well as Paul Rothat getting the third and Albert Rusnak with a penalty kick that made it to nothing and he finished with a.

Speaker 2

Goal and two assists. Now fifteen assists on the season, one shy of Nico Ludero's record of sixteen with two matches to go. Of course, you mentioned earlier you have a decision day against the Portland Timbers where if the Sounders, if the Sounders just draw with the Portland Timbers, they will win Cascadia Cup because of gold differential. If they win, which what we hope they all do, they would likely you'd think, hopefully secure a top four seed and of

course win that Cascadia Cup. So a lot to play for our decision day, but that's still in a couple of weeks. Coming up in three days on Saturday, the Sounders will be facing the Colorado Rapids in Colorado. So they're gonna bust back from our head back from Vancouver to Seattle tonight. They get ready Reagen on Thursday, train Friday, fly out, play Colorado Saturday. It's gonna be a busy few days for the Sounders and we will have that game on Saturday.

Speaker 17

Right here.

Speaker 3

Sports Radio nine to fifty km will have a provident Swedish premat show of six o'clock and a kickoff of six thirty this Saturday. You know, so watch the match five MLS Season pass on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish language on l RA thirteen sixty count. I mean, we were just talking the last segment about the ability of most of this team except for Georgie coming in for Pedro dal le Vega coming off and playing Houston on Saturday one nothing and then again here

three nothing in Vancouver. So can you push this same lineup and switch again Georgie for Pedro can you push them all out again here in three days on short rest again and expect another good result on the road against Colorado. Yes, absolutely, it's that time of the season. It's also that time of being a professional. It's the time of knowing that you're gonna have to be playing through a little bit of soreness, a little bit of

a pain. Most likely, guys probably took knocks. I know Albert took a good knock here at the end, and I bet you he's the first one to say, no, I'm okay, just wrap it up and I'll be fine. And that's the way that these players should take their

careers and should take these games. And I think it's going You're going to see a few changes just because of the travel and where you're going into Colorado, the good results that we've had, and I think there is also that outlook of but our best foot forward when it comes to being against the Timbers. But I think it should be as similar, if not the same runout that you had in this starting level. You do that as a head coach, Can you expect and just kind of roll the same?

Speaker 4

Yeah, I think you can, Because as Kellen said, it's that time of the year right, and the players know it, and they've grinded through ground through a long season and they've and they've cut a little bit better, a little bit stronger, a little bit more confident as they've gone. And you look at just the facts. You know, eleven two and two most points, uh since since June of any MLS.

Speaker 3

Team, And they know it's those same guys.

Speaker 4

It's been those same guys. And guess what after this one? They have two weeks off before Portland. Ye, yeah, they have a good gap. And I think the players, now, this is where the coaches, coaches, you set a vision and you're pulling guys right, and you're you're pulling them and then eventually you're kind of walking with them, and then now you're behind them and you're pushing them forward.

This is the time where Brian Schmetzer says to Christian rolled on, Stephen Fry, Alex rolled on, right, some of these guys that Jordan Morrison just says, hey, listen, Albert says it to Albert two Oka, it's your team, now, come on, let's carry us through to this one. And then who can't get up for Portland?

Speaker 20

Right?

Speaker 4

Everybody can get up for Portland home game with Portland and you got two weeks off, so and so this is really one big time push where they've got to really step up, and I would play the same group. I think they've they've they've earned it right And I think that's the other thing. I think when coaches say you've earned the right to keep playing, that changes a guy's mindset and says, Okay, I'm gonna honor that I've earned that right now. I'm gonna give my best.

Speaker 3

And that's another part. What are you resting for?

Speaker 4

To shit?

Speaker 3

But what are you resting for?

Speaker 17

You?

Speaker 3

Look, I understand this's gonna be hard. It is hard to play these back to back games. Don't get me wrong. I've done them many, many of times, and I've sat out many of times. But you have nothing to go for, and you're going to be tired. It doesn't mean that you can't have a good performance. It doesn't mean you can change the way you play. It can't, doesn't mean anything of that sort. You're going to be tired. How many guys can push through it? And I know eleven

of them at least can. Well, we'll see what happens on Saturday. Brian will have certain choices to make. For sure, we'll see what he does again pre match six o'clock kickoff of six thirty that is specific time here on nine to fifty k.

Speaker 2

Speaker 3
