Welcome to the Sounders FC pre mat Show presented by Provident Swedish. Tonight from the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at lumen Field, your Seattle Sounders FC face San Jose Earthquakes. Tonight's man just presented by m clabbank, the official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Provident Swedish premat show starts.

Speaker 2

Now well two straight shutout wins and your Sounders are back into fifth place in the Western Conference as of the start of the day just two Count'm just two points below LAFC for second place in the Western Conference. Oh how things have changed from just a few months ago, and tonight Seattle will try to continue to rise up that West table facing the bottom feeding San Jose Earthquakes.

So welcome to the Sounder's e FC pre match show presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounder's FC. Should mention that tonight's match is presented by Umquabank, the official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FCS. See Pete Fewing Jackson fells here for the next half hour as we count you down to kickoff of Sounders and earthquakes, and we'll spend a lot of time on the sand who's

eight earthquakes a little bit later on. It's a team that currently is in not the best run of form, to say the least, but we'll get into that a little bit later on. Pete will focus on the Sounders here in this first segment, and it's a Sounders team that, as I mentioned, back to back clean sheets. Stephen Fry alone all time in MLS regular season shutouts at one thirteen.

After the two to nothing win over Kansas City, well, we said a postgame show, comprehensive, complete professional win over KC. But they gotta get the business that they did on Sunday again done here tonight on a short rest.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it was a terrific couple of games.

Speaker 4

The Columbus game was unique in that they didn't have a goalkeeper and goal. They had a field playering goal for much of the it was zero zero when the midfielder went in, and then and then the Kansas City game.

Speaker 3

Talked to a number of.

Speaker 4

People that could have been four or five. A couple of goals were called back. We missed a pek or one goal was called back, we missed a p but they're the Sounders are I just love it.

Speaker 3

I think it's you know, they're climbing back up the table. In the last twelve games this so far, they have just been They've got.

Speaker 4

More points twenty eight points than any other team except Miami. They're tied with Miami, so nine to two and one. And you know, we hear a lot of all the team's not what it was. Holy col is twenty eight points in the last twelve nine to two and one. Now we've got San Jose. Cannot look past San Jose. San Jose's had the better in the last in the most recent games against us SO MLS, every team. I think Fry said it in his interview last week, there's

so much parody in this league. You can't look past it. But I like where the team is. I like the consistency of the lineup, and I like the two shut ups. As you said, six goals in the last two games.

Speaker 2

San Jose's a weird team because you know, overall standings wise and they're finishes over the last few years have not been good. And yet in the last seven games. You know this, we'll mention this later on too, but last seven games San Jose's five one in one against us and they beat us both times last year, they beat us earlier this year, and that kind of weird, uh three to one, three to two win or kind of lost my head on that postgame show, remember, and you know you.

Speaker 3

Wanted to bench fry.

Speaker 2

Maybe it wasn't that one. It might have been a later on regardless, that was that was, you know, frustrating times at the start of the year. Sure, oh how times have changed, But it is San Jose and they are such a weird buckboo team for the Sounders, and you know, we'll get into it later on, but they are so at the bottom of the West right now, they're so at the bottom of the entire league right now, they're a shoe in for the wooden spoon, for the

last place team in the entire league. But at the end of the day, these guys are playing for contracts. So we'll talk about San Jose later on, because we will continue to talk about the Sounders here in this opening segment. It's an absolutely beautiful night here at Loominfield as the stands fill here at Emonal Queen Casino Pitch obviously Soto right now packed with everything going on down here. Traffic to get into the building was crazy. So if you're tuning into us waiting to as I was a

few minutes ago, you'll get in. You'll be ready to see Sounders San Jose in just about a half hour. As it is really no cloud in the sky, perfect temperature, everything you want out of a September evening, a late summer evening here in the Pacific Northwest. Now, in terms of what Brian Schmitzer is doing on the field tonight, remember these Sounders don't play again until a week from

this Saturday. They have a long breakoff before they play again, but they just played on Sunday, so very very short rest for the Sounders. Pete. The question I had going into today was what is Brian and Schmeenzer going to do with his delta starting eleven? What is he doing with his delta starting eleven?

Speaker 4

Well, I think you are correct and that with that big break and the experience of this group, I think he's saying, hey, we can go grit it out, get the wind.

Speaker 3

Play great for ninety minutes because you know you're going to get the break.

Speaker 4

So Brian Schmetzer puts out Stephen Fry his captain, Alex roldn right back, knew Who left back Gomez Androtti Regan your center backs, Roth Rock will be on the right day, la Vega on the left, Obed and Christian rolled on in the middle of the park. Albert Rusenik Jordan Morris so, I like the lineup.

Speaker 3

I like the decision. I don't think it needs I don't think those players.

Speaker 4

I don't think that group of eleven wants to sit out and rest because of the game against Kansas City. I think they all want to go get their points and do the job tonight.

Speaker 2

Well, it's interesting because we were talking to Brian this morning and one of the questions I had for him was, normally we see these Saturday to Wednesday games, Saturday Wednesday, Saturday Wednesday. That's how we've seen it for almost the entirety of this season. When you have a mid week match, and I asked, how much is it is it added stress on a body?

Speaker 5

Is it?

Speaker 2

Is it very different going from Sunday to Wednesdays supposed to Saturday Wednesday? And he said, yeah, it is. It is an added element in this game where the Sounders have to come off of just two days where you have you know the region on Monday, and then you train on Tuesday with everything getting ready to go, and the thing that stands out bete from that delta starting eleven.

Brian isn't making many changes and those guys, as you mentioned, they certainly want to be on here, they certainly want to play, continue getting the points, but this will be a physical test for them.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and I like it.

Speaker 4

I think it's kind of a grit thing for all the players. Hey, I think this is one of those where this team's been trying to get over the hump, trying to get over the hump. They have gotten over the hump physically with nine to one and two in the last twelve, but I think this one for them mentally if they can come in and have a rock solid performance, get another clean sheet, get a few goals.

I never like to say, hey, let's go get four or five goals, because that sort of puts the wrong picture in a player's mind because.

Speaker 3

I think, oh, we're gonna win, right.

Speaker 4

But I think I like that he's doing this lineup and I think this group will be ready, and I think there's a lot of pride in each of these starting eleven players that wants to come out and play great, even though they know they've been taxed. And you're right, Sunday game, Monday Region, Tuesday, little more Region.

Speaker 3

But they're at a point.

Speaker 4

In the season now a five games left that they're in their rhythm right. And for day la Vega, the idea was can he go? Should he start on Sunday? And then he wouldn't start today? And the idea was, let's not start. And I like this too. This is faith in your players. Yeah, you know you think day la Vega is your big money guy, so you should have played him against Kansas City Versus instead of playing against San Jose, which is bottom of the table.

Speaker 3

As you mentioned, But no, put him. This is his game to start. What that says is he's.

Speaker 4

Got faith in the guys that we're starting in the Kansas City game on Sunday.

Speaker 2

Well, let's talk a little bit about Pedro da la Vega. In a moment, I'll quickly dive into the Providence to BEA's team health report, which of course is presented by Providence Swedish, the official healthcare partner of Sounders. FC. Jua Paulo is still out with his calf injury. Brian Schmetster actually said in a press conference yesterday, I would be a miracle, he said, to have him back for the Houston Dynamo match on September twenty eighth. So we're kind

of looking for that maybe afterwards. But if all goes well, then we make sure that he is good to go, then we're looking a healthy Joe Apollo absolutely by the time we have decision day hosting Perland in the playoffs. Ahead also mentioned that Leo Chew out with a knee injury as well. So going back to Pedro dal Levega, you know, I think one of the things that stood out about Pedro in these recent weeks when he's played is he's doing a lot. He's running around, He's covering

a ton of ground trying to get involved. You know, you could, you'd even say he's pressing a little bit to make sure he gets involved in gets the stats because obviously he knows how much is on his shoulders to make a big impact. And you know, and talking to Brian this morning, it is really about, you know, putting an arm around him. It is really about telling him just play within yourself, keep it simple, you know, just be the player you are because he has such talent.

We just need to see Pedro do what he does and be the player he is and not try to do too much.

Speaker 4

Yeah, that is one hundred percent correct. And he's young, and he also he does not like that he's been injured this much. He comes to a new team, he doesn't have really money in the bank. We haven't seen him for a year or two years or three years. You know, some of these players, we know what they're like and how tough they are. But Pedro's coming in brand new, new country and he came here to make a big splash.

Speaker 3

He's not been able to do that.

Speaker 4

And those kind of injuries from you know, hanmstring and then growing, they really they kind of wear on you.

Speaker 3

So you're right, he gets out there and he wants to do too much.

Speaker 4

Yeah, when when I was coaching, I would say to it get just get your points. So like in the defensive third, the middle third, that's not the place to take people on.

Speaker 3

Just connect passes.

Speaker 4

Every time you connect the pass in your mind and again and your opponent's mind, you get a point. If you try to take somebody on in the middle of the park and you lose the ball, now you're down a point, So get your confidence, get your rhythm.

Speaker 3

Where his office is.

Speaker 4

On the flanks, and then coming inside, get yourself into your office and then and then you can do your work right.

Speaker 3

But you're right, he's been pushing a little bit too much.

Speaker 4

If he can, he loves and he's fun to watch, and then he can run right and he can take people on, and I like that he's a risk taker. I'd like to see him be a risk taker in the attacking third and when he can isolate himself one on one.

Speaker 3

But you're right, he's trying. He's pushing hard because he wants to make up.

Speaker 4

He wants show the crowd, he wants to show his teammates that, hey, he can play. The injuries that just continually stop start stop start stop starts been frustrating for him. So Brian's got to, you know, and he's got a relationship with Brian that they've got to learn about each other.

Speaker 3

He's gonna be able to say, Pedro, it's okay, get your points, take people on when you when you're in the right spots.

Speaker 2

You talk about points in specifically goals. I mean San Jose is giving up sixty five goals that is by far the worst in Major League Soccer. I mean the way I've been kind of thinking about this is it could be a coming out party for Pedro de Levega. Finally we see all of it together. You know, a lot to spoil my player to watch. It's gonna be Pedro de Lvega. I have some thoughts about what he can do today. We'll get into that in the next segment.

We'll also talk more about these San Jose earthquakes. Yes, they may have some really bad statistics right now, but where is the challenge going to come from? We'll talk about San Jose coming up next. As we are just about a half hour away from kickyre at Emerald Queen Casino pitch at Luminfield. Today's count Dawn to Kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 2

Welcome back to the province weish prematch show. We're counting you down A kickoff to Sounders and San Jose earthquakes under what is a perfect Seattle sky? Here in September, perfect temperature, nothing in it. It's going to be a beautiful night for soccer here in the Emerald City. As the stadium fills in, it's time for our Sharp Vision Upon It out Look taking a look at the visiting

San Jose earthquakes. Tonight's Upon It Outlook, presented by Sharp Vision Modern las Can Lens, the official basic provider of Sounders FC. So, as we mentioned that previous segment, San Jose is having a very, very tough year. They've already been eliminated from playoff contention. They're almost guaranteed to have the wooden spoon, which mark it's the worst team in Major League Soccer this year. They have five wins, two draws,

and count them twenty one losses on the season. Their seventeen points are eleven lower than thirteenth place Saint Louis and ten lower than New England, who's at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. So that's how far they are below.

We mentioned the last segment, sixty five goals conceded. That is by far the worst in Major League Soccer, and it's also more than double that of the Sounders goals allowed at thirty two thirty four girl goals scored, by the way, is nine less than the Sounders, So be viewing listen. Stats are stats, and I'm a stats guy and I love stats and all the analytics and XG and all those fun things. Stats are Wow. The Sounders

should be able to get a dominant win tonight. But San Jose still compose a challenge.

Speaker 3

Why Well, they've got Espinosa up front.

Speaker 4

He's got four goals, he's got eleven assists, so he's a good playmaker. And then Pelgrino's got six, so Hernan's got four. That here's they've got seventeen goals on the field total of their thirty four, only seventeen are on the field with all their players.

Speaker 3

That are injured and left off tonight's rosters. So but they still can do it.

Speaker 4

And like I said, Steph said it in the interview with Michelle last week, there's so much parody and there's no pressure on San Jose. If they get a rhythm and they start to enjoy themselves, right, and if Seattle doesn't put them away quickly with a couple of goals or a goal, I think you know, there's no pressure on these guys except as kell and Roe said last week, they're all playing for contracts, so they've got something to prove to owners, gms, but they don't have anything. There's

no pressure on them. They're not planning to stay in the playoffs. That's over. So it'll be an interesting game to see how it goes. And if they're enjoying themselves, then that makes me nervous. If we put them down and put them away and kill their will, that's a great sign.

Speaker 2

You mentioned Palegrino. I mean he's a six ' three forward from Norway. I mean when we talk about the great equizer can be set piece, you know where if it's set piece at I Espinosa, who's a very very good person in that regard, and he puts it in the right spot for a six to three forward in Pellegrino,

that could absolutely get them a goal. And then, I mean, in a world we never want to even think about if they get that early and they go up one nothing, sure they can just play eight behind the ball and say come at us bro. So I mean, everybody, you never want to get to that scenario.

Speaker 3

Everybody wants to be a spoiler. Yeah, And this is a game that talk about a rich history. Both clubs are on their fiftieth year, right, so they're not going to roll over. And Rodriguez, one of their defenders, has got three goals. So you talk about restarts, and you're right.

Speaker 4

Espinosa has an educated foot and confined players. So yeah, this is not a game. Brian Specter hates these games, right because you don't want to look past any of these players. And they've all got pride, they all know each other. So let's put them away early and let's kill their will and let's let them not have any joy.

Speaker 2

I love the thought of that, ye so, and also to know Espinosa eleven assistants as well. In terms of what they've done recently. They beat RSL, you know, obviously RSL having a great year to nothing a few weeks ago, but they followed that up by losing two to one in Minnesota, and then they lost to nothing in Vancouver last weekend. They actually stayed here on the West Coast. They've stayed local before this game here in Seattle tonight

because it was just such a short run around. Should also mention I should have talked to you about this before, but I'll mention it right now. They're head coach Introim head coach. Ian Russell played with the Sounders in nineteen ninety eight ninety ninety nine. He scored sixteen goals for the Sounders. A midfielder from West Seattle, he went on to play one hundred and thirty one games with the San Jose Earthquakes. He was named interim coach after that.

They fired Luchiganzalez back in June. Any connection with Ian Russell.

Speaker 3

As guy, Yeah, thanks for teaming me up. Yeah.

Speaker 4

I was doing a clinic when I was playing with FC Seattle and we were in West Seattle, and I'm no exaggeration. There was probably one hundred and fifty two hundred kids and before the they're just all running around the field and I'm not making this up. I grabbed this kid by his sweatshirt the hood and I go, hurry you and he said, I'm Ian Russell's nine years old.

Speaker 3

I said, well, you're gonna be a good player.

Speaker 2

Oh wow.

Speaker 3

So we recruited him to Seattle.

Speaker 4

You offered him a very good scholarship, and Dean Wursberger just said, I'll give you a spot.

Speaker 3

And Dean didn't think much of him.

Speaker 4

The UDUB coach offered him a spot and he did great for the udup and he's a he was a really crafty midfielder, good playmaker and a really, you know, terrific guy. I coached the Combine a few years ago and he walks up to me and he says, hey, you extended my career.

Speaker 3

I gave him my chiropractors phone number.

Speaker 4

Randomly, you know, when he was playing, and he would fly home from San Jose to see the chiropractors. He's a good kid. His dad, Dave Russell, is an icon. Phoebe and Dave Russell ran Emerald City for years. Thrilled to be able to give those two a little bit of a shout out. They were icons for youth soccer and and you know, Brian Spetzer was a coaching director at Emerald.

Speaker 3

City at some point. But yeah, you know, I about an injury ended his career.

Speaker 4

But he got two MLS Cups with San Jose and he's been great. He was the head coach at Reno, had a couple of our guys there, and he's a really good guy and has done really good things in the game.

Speaker 2

You dub guy Wes Seattle, natif coming home. He'd love to play spoiler with San Jose to Knight. Funny. We didn't didn't even we didn't even talk about that.

Speaker 3

Before this show.

Speaker 2

I'm glad there was a story that we get. That's a fantastic story from nine years old. This kid had promised and here he is coaching at Luminfield for San Jose to Knight quickly thirty seconds, coach, give me a player to watch on the Sounders tonight.

Speaker 3

I'm gonna go Jordan Morris.

Speaker 4

I thought he had a lot of good chances in the last one with Kansas City, and I just like to see him keep going and getting goals, and he's gonna get opportunities like I did before. Let's hope he puts a couple away.

Speaker 2

I love that. Peter dla Vega for me, I said last segment, I think this could be his coming out party. Now coming out party, you know, I mean that he scored his a hat trick, and you know for peterro Delvega, it may never be that that coming out party equals goal, but it's the facilitating, right It's setting up Jordan Morris's setting up Albert and you know whoever ends up being a part of that attack. Paul Rothrock, Christian Roldon et cetera, and I think that could where be where we really

see Pedro de Levega open up. We mentioned San Jose sixty five goals allowed, they have a poor defense. If Pedro de Levega is going to have a big night here and start this ball rolling towards the end of the season, I think it could start tonight with a big game. So he is my player to watch. We'll take a break here on the premat show. We'll come back and we're gonna hear from Stephen Fry talking about San Jose as well as the previous win over Kansas City.

You'll hear from the Sounders goalkeeper and number two all time in Major League Soccer shutouts. You'll hear from Steph next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM.

Welcome back toloomin Field. Up here in the broadcast Ruth Jackson, Feltz and Pete Fewinge, who will be calling the match alongside Danny Jackson. Coming up here in just about fifteen minutes because we are fifteen minutes away from kick her at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield. Today's condetic kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the north West. We're gonna hear from Stephan Frye in

just a few minutes. For those who don't know, Stephan Frye does some really really cool work with Scarves Fighting Cancer. You can look up Scarvesfighting Cancer dot com because Scars Fighting Cancer and the wonderful work by Christina Kannen with that website and with players with the sounders do to raise awares because it is Kick Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. You'll see tonight if you're at Luminfield and watching and

listening whatever the goal nets are gold. You will see special warm up jerseys all throughout this month that the Sounder is wearing jerseys that you can actually go and purchase on mlsstore dot com. And part of that goes to fighting childhood cancer. This is a big thing for me personally. If some of you who listened to Sounders Weekly may know it lost my nephew number of years back to cancer, and you know, he was a young kid.

And yesterday I spoke with Brian Schmitzer and and we were just talking because what he Brian does every single game in the month of September is he wears a gold scarf and the gold scarf is in honor of Kick Childhood Cancer Month and raising awareness and and just you know, doing his little part. And you know, he's telling me how how kids are precious and anytime cancer, you know, reaches anybody, it's horrible, but especially kids who

haven't even had a chance to live their lives. So Brian was telling me how he tries and wears the the gold tie every game in September as a part of that. Pete I I love what he and players along with Scars Fighting Cancer do to do their part.

It's obviously it's such a personal thing for me, but everybody is touched by cancer and in some way obviously, and Uh and the work the players and the interest in the efforts including Callen Rowe by the way as well with his wines do to to support kicking childhood cancer and getting rid of this just horrible, horrible thing in our world. It's amazing and I just applaud all of our players and staffing and Brian for just being a part of the efforts to kick this thing.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you look at it.

Speaker 4

And anybody who's lived as long as uh, Brian has or I have, or you or you have, you can't go too many years on this planet without knowing someone who's going through that. And it is a brutal experience. My wife said cancer before, And it's it's something that if you can if you can be distracted, if you can be lifted up by professional sports, if a if a guy like Brian Schmittzer or Kellen Roe, step and Fry shows you a little bit of love, it's a big difference changer.

Speaker 3

It's different changer for the family. It's a great break and it's a relief, and it's an awful disease. And uh, you know, we live in a part.

Speaker 4

Of the country that if you do have cancer, this is uh the place to be because it.

Speaker 3

We're on the cutting edge all the time.

Speaker 4

But it's such a difficult thing and and boy, once it happens, it changes everything in your family.

Speaker 3

Everything gets shifted toward getting healthy.

Speaker 4

And again, when pro athletes do it, and the Mariners do it, the Seahawks do it, the crack and right, the storm and the rain, they all get behind these things and it just it's just a really lovely break to give somebody who's suffering or a family who suffered.

Speaker 3

To get a bit of a distraction. So yeah, Brian is great about that, and it's great that the league recognizes it. And you try to give, try to give a kindle. If there's a bunch of wonderful stories.

Speaker 4

Unfortunately for you, your your nephew didn't, isn't one that made it through, But there's great stories of people that do make it through and they need a little inspiration.

Speaker 3

Then they become that inspiration.

Speaker 18

Absolutely so, so I would I would just say everybody, uh Stars Fighting Cancer dot and the work there to raise funds and to effort to kick this thing.

Scars Fighting Cancer DOT coming. And Stephen Fry has glassy babies. We all know he has. It's an amazing artist. He has glassy babies. I gotta kind of peek at his new glassy babies. They are really cool. And there's also I believe whiskey glasses a part of that and and they are very very cool, So make sure to check that out. Stephen Fry is an amazing, amazing job to help not only raise awareness but kick this thing with

all of his work. In terms of Stephan Fry, he joined ourl Michelle Ludka at the end of the game against Kansas City on Sunday and he talks about tonight's game against the San Jose Earthquakes. What's ahead for the Sounders as they try to continue this late season run up the table.

Speaker 19

Obviously you're taking on San Jose on Wednesday. They've been eliminated from playoff contention. How difficult is it to come up against a team like that who will come in here essentially with nothing to lose.

Speaker 20

Nothing to lose and ever seemed to gain in terms of they're playing for contracts, right, you have guys who might be like you know, I don't need to defend. I'm gonna cheat a little, and so those games are very.

Speaker 9

Very difficult.

Speaker 20

You got to be switched on at all times. And especially I think a team like us that we like to be in possession.

Speaker 2

We like to be in control.

Speaker 20

You cannot be a litl to sleep and forget about the guys that are maybe cheating a little bit and are waiting for that opportunity to show that they can score goals. There's parodieas league, and just because the team is eliminated doesn't mean that.

Speaker 3

They're a weak team.

Speaker 19

And as we wrap things up here, a huge congratulations to you. And I know you don't ever like to talk about yourself and your performance, but I'm gonna make you right now because today you moved into second sole possession of second place in the all time shutouts with one hundred and thirteen. There'll be plenty of time in your life and your career to reflect on all the amazing milestones.

Speaker 15

But right now, in this moment, what does that mean to you?

Speaker 20

I just I'm blessed, you know, to have been able to play for so long and obviously be part of good teams. You know, I think when you're younger, a shout out's great and all, but as you get and you're starting to climb in those numbers.

Speaker 9

You realize how fragile these things are.

Speaker 20

Takes a whole eleven plus players to truly buy in and fight until the very last whistle to achieve these little things. And so I've always been blessed to have have those great teammates. I think early in my career when I had a really bad injury, you know, I took it to heart when people said I was injury prone. Look at me now playing at thirty eight. Still I'm trying to prove people wrong and keep playing for as long as I can.

Speaker 2

Love that from Stephan Frye, your Sounders goalkeeper. Keep proving people wrong, and hopefully he has another clean sheet here tonight against San Jose. We'll take a break here in the prematch show. We'll come back and wrap it up with our Keys to the match just a few minutes away from kick here on Sports Radio nine to fifty KJR.

Speaker 3

To night, Well, a quick start would be great. We have that with Kansas City.

Speaker 4

I think if Seattle can get going right from the beginning, put San Jose under pressure, get quality service from the wings. You know when we get good service from the right and the left, and we get Jordan Morris going down.

Speaker 3

The middle of the field, the middle of the penalty box, right and in between the posts, that's where he does his best. From the flanks.

Speaker 4

If we can get some balls slipped into him, some diagon balls in behind, that's another way to get goals. Albert Rusnik's on fire thirteen assists right now. He's three away from Nico Ladero's twenty eighteen record of sixteen.

Speaker 3

He could get that today. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 4

So, and then on the defensive side, you mentioned restarts, restarts, We've got to make sure we're really, really sharp. Don't give Santo any hope, don't let them get the first goal for sure, do everything you can to keep the clean sheet and enjoy it right. And they all know they got about a week plus right of a break, So give everything you got and there's people on the

bench come out. They've just got to keep got to pick up where they left off with Kansas City and a little more quality in the finishing area.

Speaker 9

Good Evening famik UC pitch at lumin Field where Your Sounders take on long time rival the San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose Sees has gone from bad to worth firing head coach Luchiganzars in midseason. They are still searching for the coach who can take this struggling franchise to new heights. They are the only team already eliminated from the playoffs, so motivation will be about personal survival as the club

already looks to twenty twenty five. For Your Sounders, they have all to play for in these final weeks of the regular season. With five games remaining and three games at home, the Sounders will look to solidify their position in the top four of the Western Conference and a first round home tie. With two clean sheets in the last two games, the Sounders have their solid foundation on which to grow, and with nine goals scored in their last four MLS games, the Sounds are showing they can

be a threat on both sides of the pitch. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Seattle YU University head coach Pete Feuing for the court tonight here in the booth and Michelle Luker down on the sidelines. So teams are getting set up. We're gonna get you the lineups in just a moment. The Sounders in their anniversary green shirts, blue shorts and white socks. They're attacking the north end, the

goal to our left. And then San Jose coming in after a loss in Vancouver, so they drove down the I five, stayed in Seattle for a few days, and they're ready to go and black shirts and navy blue with black shorts and black socks. Ian Russell, Seattle native, grew up in the area, played at the University of Washington. He's the interim coach you mentioned. Luca Gonzales got fired and here we go. San Jose get us going. They're gonna knock it back and We'll see what kind of

lineup they put out there. We gotta expect a four two three one, but they can sometimes shift to a three at the back. Here's Espinoza early on this near side. They're right, comes back to Jicius, who's gonna knock it back all the way. That to Daniel Muni, who gets the start tonight. So let's get you the lineup for your sounds of the Delta. Starting eleven for Brian Schmidtz's men. Not many changes for Brian Stefan Fryn goal back forth roll down Yeamar Reagan then knew who's going to drop

in that left hand side. After coming back from international duty, Christian rolled on alongside Obered Vargas Pedro de la Vega back in the starting lineup today. He plays on the outside with the Braznek and the Tan Rothrock on the other side, and then Jordan Morris up front for Ian Russell, danielin gol about four of a carpo, Moony Rodriguez and Viehoven gets his second game an MLS game today on that left hand side, Jigiras alongside Gretzo in the middle

of the park, Esperoza, Hernan Lopez and Pellegrino. You're attacking three and then Buddha is your forward up front. So Pete, let me ask you this. Five games to go three at home. Sounds continue to push up this Western Conference standings. What do they have to do tonight against a really difficult team. We'll get you comments in a minute. The low Peck picks it up at the inside the box, knocks it off Yema, who just bundles it out of bounds on this near sign. Quick throwing by San Jose.

They're playing on the front foot here. The carpo plays it into Lopez, it gets clipped down, so they get set up the free kick. Pete, your quick thoughts going.

Speaker 3

Into this game, Well, we don't want to do what we just did.

Speaker 4

Albert Rusnik about seven yards beyond the box on the right hand side, giving San Jose a free kick. It's been in the Seattle half the whole time. Seattle's got to get control of the game. They've got to be the dominant one, set the tone right now, they're under a little bit of pressure, and this is what Ian Russell and San Jose would want.

Speaker 3

A free kick from thirty yards out right inside of the box.

Speaker 9

And then Lopez. Espernoza over the ball. Left foot of Lopez came into San Jose this season from Argentina. Of course Espernoza as well Argentinian and himself signed a long term contract in the offseason. Has been their steady Eddy. They're ever present, one hundred and three straight game starts. It all comes in by Lopez, whips in, finds the foot of Bella given away by de la Vega, picked up by Pelle Greene on far side the left, picked it up at Buda, comes back to the new man

Vier Hubert. San Jose enjoined some early spells of possession here with Rodriguez inside the sound as half of the field, Brian Schmetze hands in pockets standing outside his technical area. You know when Brian stands out with technical area in the early minutes, not happy with the start the sounds of made playing on their heels a little bit. San Jose playing it around from right to the far side the left as they build through with Rodriguez pulls it out to this near side to a carpo down the

Lion's es for no. It's a good combination. The right back for San Jose goes across the h box and his left foot good double block by obd Vargas and Jam are picked up by Lopez fast side. The left goes to Pellegrino and then it goes off. Yema is going to be an early corner kick for San Jose. With that and the first time, Michelle, we're gonna throw it down to you.

Speaker 2

Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 19

The Sounders need a reset. The messaging going into this one is that they have to take this opponent seriously. I mean teams that are eliminated from playoff contention like we find San Jose in today, they can be dangerous and Brian Schwenzer told us that he needed the team to play to their standard, don't let their guard down and start fast. That happens this match could be theirs, but they need to start doing that right now.

Speaker 9

Thanks Michelle. All comes in yet. We know that the Sounders have played professionally in the last couple of games

difficult circumstances. Thanks Columbus crew. They got a red car by the only goalkeeper in the squad force and outfield players going golf for the entire second half, but they took care of business there for a clean sheet and Columbus Crew MLS Champs from twenty three, Leagu's Cup Champs in twenty four and then last week against Saint Peter Burmese team has always been difficult to play against a

sporting case. He did a professional job there, got the two nil win, and then, as Michelle mentioned, it's all about focus. Can you get the job done, get you three points? And then the Sound has got a nice ten day break until the next home game, which is Houston a week on Saturday.

Speaker 4

Now we're five minutes in now and Seattle's finally starting to string a few passes together and they have not been in San Jose's half of the field yet, they've been on their heel. San Jose looks, you know, very comfortable and with no pressure. They're playing with no pressure except we do. We all understand they're all trying to get their contracts.

Speaker 3

But San Jose's look good. They've moved the ball really well.

Speaker 4

Maybe that little rest in between the Vancouver game and this one and being in Seattle.

Speaker 3

Now Seattle's finally on the attack.

Speaker 9

He is rothrot down the left hand side, overlapping run by new towards the end, like good defending by Corpo, goes over in the end line. Referee does call it for a corner kick. First corner kick four. The game for the sound is good quick transition by the men in green. It started with Alex rolled on in middle of the park, sprayed the ball to this ns so at the left and then it was Rothrock, who's been in a rich vein of form over the last couple

of months. It's got a goal against Sporting Casey is alongside his fellow local player and Jackson Reagan got his third goal of the season, both on three goals in MLS for twenty twenty four. Here comes rosan left hand side. This time he's going to clip it towards the far post. Strike along, deflex it off Hope Regez. It was well down, a back stick took it out of the air. Good strike on target, deflex it off the San Jose central defender goes over the endline for a second corner kick.

Anderope ifuring Hey.

Speaker 4

I like this from the Sounders last week. The goal that was called back a restart, really well designed.

Speaker 3

This one.

Speaker 4

We haven't seen this all year, so San Jose, that's new for them, new for our group. Pedro de la Vega comes close tries to draw someone out. Alex Roldan stays in the back post. It's goodwood on it.

Speaker 9

Good ball in another corner it comes Russick housing of this time from the right hand side, goes up, hit it by who's Jackson Reagan over the top, it goes but that was a real chance six yards out or So got a free jump, wasn't able to direct the header on goal. It's gonna be a goal kick. In the seventh minute EQC Pitch lumen Field Sports Radio nine fifty am. Beautiful night for soccer. Sounders nil, San Jose nil.

Speaker 4

That puts Seattle right back in. At those two corner kicks, Reagan had a good look at it. Good balls, both of them from Bruce Neck. He was definitely trying to hit Alex in the back post. You could see that they've sucked everybody in and Alex.

Speaker 3

They got a little bit of room.

Speaker 4

That ball could have come down a little quicker for Alex, I think, but he did very well to get an on frame.

Speaker 9

Sounds given away possession middle of park from Morris straight to her. Nick Lopez, who hits the ball away. Sounder is able to pick it up in the back end. San Jose defensively, not a great season if they continued forward in the manner of which they could see the goals this season. Le've on track to give up seventy

nine goals this year. It comes rolled on center the park to Delavega, back to Alex Roldan, good little flick a top of the box find it brother Christian deflected clay picked up top of the box by Pellegrino Tres to find Beehoven given away. Good tracking back by Obed Vargas back from new twenty three national team play with Mexico, mentioned how many times he played that commitment to the Mexican national team earlier this season, no chance to play

with the national team. He spoke about that with the press last week. So he got peppin his step as he comes back in the team. Good performance at the weekend as he gets tripp referee lousing fantas. Ball goes to Rothrock left court of the box, challenge by a car Pop goes square twice to find Vargas. Loblapping run by Christian Rolld on the left argus was not able to connect, but the Sounders do win it back again. Good high press by the Sounders there's certainly been part

of their game plan. The m over the last couple of months, press high, win the ball, attack quickly they comes san Jose. Can they counter here with Bruda down the left und side is Pellegrino inside the box. He goes good defending by Yema, goes over the end like corner cack, but be viewing San Jose dangerous in transition again.

Speaker 4

Yeah, no question, I loved what Seattle did for the last four or five minutes. They just flipped the switch, started moving the ball rod Rock down the left hand side. But yes, that counter attack four against three, Gomez Androti does a great job to go back inside the box, go to the carpet, blocked a shot out for a corner kick, but it did very very well. But you could see what San Jose's looking for. So game on now, Danny,

I think Seattle's got into the game. San Jose certainly is into the game as well.

Speaker 9

Second corner kick for San Jose to time is gonna go short two versus one easily played back to Espinoza twenty yards, whips it in, fumbled by Frey, goes over the end line. Gonna be another corner kick. Third corner kick already in the opening ten minutes for San Jose. They've come out of the blocks.

Speaker 3

Firing.

Speaker 9

For Stephan Frye was a slight fumble from the cross.

Speaker 4

A couple right in front of him, so he didn't know if he was gonna get the flick. He had to stay in central and then a couple missed the ball and went to as far post, but that could have gone anywhere.

Speaker 3

I don't know if a couple was upside.

Speaker 9

Well, we saw it last week with Jordan Morris in an offside position. The goal was called back. It's sporting casey in that first half. This time sounds up, defender, corner kick, ball comes in, flick by Yam on top of the box, good strike, slice wide. It's gonna be a goal kick. Even the eleventh minute, Sounders nil, San Jose nil.

Speaker 3

It's gonna be a fun game, all right. Both teams are getting their opportunities pretty free flowing.

Speaker 9

I think you guys talked about it in pregame, and Michelle obviously mentioned in her opening comments. So San Jose eliminated from contention for playoffs. It's been a disappointing year for them. They got rid of their head coach Ducci. Gonzalez has had success around the league, was with a US national team set up before going to San Jose. And here comes rock Rock good defending by Beerhoon who comes across from his left back spot, right footed player

win his second MLS game. San Jose ravaged with injuries and number of players out. Club captain Jackson Yule on the bench today, as is Bobas. We know his Bobasi from his time obviously in San Jose but also his time in Portland. Had a really good year a couple of seasons ago with seventeen goals. Wasn't able to deliver last year quite as high as those numbers, and this year has been a bit of stop start players in terms of goals. Who's been out of the field, he's

been present. He comes a car party, it's near sign in front of Brian Schmidtz's played around the corner by Espinoza, holds up Vargas goes squared back towards Zekers, who's a big, powerful player. The number third the young player played with Oben Vargas a new twenty World Cup last year. San Jose is just gonna build with patients sound as eleven men behind the board's really low block at this point.

I mean, Pete, this is not what Brian probably scripted now in terms of how his team would to start. But you have to give credit to San Jose in the manner which they've started this game is forced to sounders back on their heels.

Speaker 4

Yeah, no question, they've started fast and moving the ball. They're very dangerous on the counter attack. It appears, and here's a long ball over the top.

Speaker 9

Is Espinoza inside the box, strikes it good saved by Fry, but again san Jose in transition and as they start to build out of the back on the far side with Rolldon, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 15

Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 19

As we can see in the tonight's starting lineup, we've got Pedro de la Vega starting.

Speaker 15

He didn't start with saw a few minutes of course.

Speaker 19

On Sunday during that win over Kansas City, and we had a chance to talk with head coach Brian Schmitzer about de la Vega and he says that as he's been transitioning him and getting him used to this team, he tries to talk to him every day, normally meeting if I'm in his office every three days. They spend time watching film together and really he wants him to

do what he's been doing at training. He's a great give and go tepe player, got excellent ball control and great skills, but he wants him to kind of try and make things simpler for himself out on the pitch, especially tonight as he continues to get used to this team and playing here in Major League Soccer.

Speaker 9

Yeah, thanks, Michelle Bran. That's talked about that. It just takes some time for players to get settled in. Here's one player that has settling quickly this year has been a roth Rock cost local product through the ranks. Here the Sounders played in college. You don't see that too often with young players coming through these days. Having played both of Notre Dame and Georgetown four years in college, as has his teammate Jackson Reagan four years at Michigan.

So Sounders continue to push through players from their academy from the collegiate ranks, pull back their homegrown players, and then, of course, with Georgie Munungo signing for the Tacoma Defiance, they continue to elevate players up after they've performed well at Tacoma so sounds continue to reward players for good performances both on the field joint games people also on the practice field.

Speaker 4

Yeah, I love the balance between as you say, the college guys, there's typically six college players starting from Pry, the Roldans, Morris, Reagan, Rothrock, and then they get they bring their kids through the academy and some of them they signed at nineteen sixteen seventeen, like Vargas, and then they get their international groups. It's using the full plethora of options, not just go in one direction.

Speaker 9

Who's Santose given away? Who's asking demanding for seven Freud to come out? Who played a couple of games for Cameroon in the international break? Or I just gave him a rest. We'd Bakemoy to get played at the crew came in, retained his spot in left hand sidy with new Beck in town growing. Probably boys. They gave Nudes a couple of extra days off, knowing that there's see a build up of games PEP coming up in you know,

the end of the season, important games. You need some of your starmen back, and that travel can sometimes be a drain on the body.

Speaker 4

Yeah, and getting the wins, that's a nice luxury to have. It's great all around. It's great for you who to get the rest read Baker white and.

Speaker 9

Get the opportunity or gets flicked in and headed away by Yam I picked up by Espinosa right side of the box, clips it towards the back stick.

Speaker 27

Pellegrino goes in for the Sounders and they aren't able to clear his rolls on. Somehow somewhere Pellegrino, just like you did against Rslly, bundled it in so.

Speaker 9

The back of the net. San Jose go up a goal, not what the Sounders wanted. Coming out of the gates. The crowd goes silent. Sounders have to find themselves out of this hole. Sounders nil San Jose wan.

Speaker 4

Yeah, Pellegrino, that's his seventh goal of the year, and he's just tied up with Alex rolled on and the balls hanging in the air. Pelagreno gets there first and hits the open neck. Tough one for Fry because comes off his line. Can he get to the ball.

Speaker 3

It's far enough away that maybe he can't, so he's caught in no man's land a little bit. Yeah.

Speaker 4

That was a deflating goal and an elevating goal for the San Jose Earthquakes. Now it'll be interesting to see how they respond. Are they going park the bus or do they keep trying to play well.

Speaker 9

Santase came out of the gates, as we mentioned a couple of times, playing on the front foot. They get their reward. Pellegrina, who scored forty nine goals and the last two seasons of play out in Norway before coming into MLS, Pefree mentioned seventh goal of the year sped against rs Sell in a very similar manna which bundled the ball in and just felt like Christian Boldog couldn't get himself sort, he couldn't get his feet, couldn't get his bearings.

Speaker 3

Yeah, very awkward.

Speaker 4

The ball just was hanging up there and unless it coming down with Bellagreno at the better angle, it comes to drive.

Speaker 9

For dudging about her greatso it's gonna be a free kick for the sound as dead center of the park thirty five yards or so. He got forty yards from Danielle's goal. Danielle in the Santose goal eleven saves on his game against Vancouver. It went down to nil, but little incredible performance by the San Jose goalkeeper he's delevat and he's the sharp. Now plays it square to Christian rolled on the top of the box, goes out right to his brother. Alex goes down by the goalscorp of

Pelle green A back to Vargas. It goes clips in him with his right foot headed clear by Hodriguez finds Rozac on this near side left corner of the box. Goes back to Nu who they should build up by the Sounders trying to find their openings. Rosade tries to whip it in. Comes up Buddha, who look extremely fast and powerful in warm ups and a joint product from Bekina Faso his first goal in an MLS just a couple of weeks ago against Minnesota. He's gonna be new.

Sound is gonna build now from the inside their own half of the field. Jackson Reagan goes the third gold you mentioned on the season his MLS season last weekend. But here comes Dela Vega, driving forward, committing defenders as he always does. Alex Roldan picks it up right, called the box back to Christian outside to the far side. We're right is Dela Vega front of the ball, little

step over. He's gonna find a pocket spasically does it goes past Grizo with ease Whichel only six yard boxes played by Prodriguez, picked up by Lopez but given away cheaply by the young artie Chian. But he picks it up now drives forward past Christian rolled on. He's feeling the pressure. Sounds gonna be patient and defending it. Duke given away. Find Lopez's screaming of the referee right in front of him. That's him for a free kick. Nothing given sounds that possession.

Speaker 4

Good for Christian, We've seen it all throughout his career. Gives up the ball, then goes and gets it right back.

Speaker 9

Well Tonight's Matt just presents a quart Bank, the official banking partner of Seattle Sounders. FC Sounders have it with Jack Saigan spring a technical ball for one side of the filter of the other, picked up well by Vargas, who floated on the right hand side, challenging the young left back via Houben. But Overn this time gets the better of it, knocks the ball out of bound, throwing for the Sounders on the far side.

Speaker 3

There right, not an interchange between the players.

Speaker 4

Old Ben Vargas wide right here de la Vega on the inside. For a while we saw a Rothrock on the right, and then we saw Rothrock up I at one point and Morris playing on the left midfield, so balance and opportunities. Players go into one space. Teammates recognize it, they cover fom pretty kick to.

Speaker 9

The Sounders and a yellow card on Rodriguez. Look at the confirmation of that. But that is an SGB yellow card. What a fowl is called SGB trial lawyers are here to help. Is an sgbdsh law dot com. In the twentieth minute free kick for the Sounder Sounders trailing one gold tan ill against their longtime rival San Jose, both clubs celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year. San Jose have already got one over the Sounders three to two down in San Jose.

Speaker 3

Chance Fry loved that he got to celebrate fifty years with the Earthquakes, fifty years with the Sounders. I got a chance.

Speaker 9

Colleague Rosnack flips it towards the penalty spot, headed up and away by Mooney, stripe by Bargas, hits ld bounces around to Bella Vega to my strike and.

Speaker 3

In scores.

Speaker 9

Struck it well down low danniel and.

Speaker 28

The San Jose goal could not stop the power of the shot, and Jordan Morris gets another goal on a really impressive campaign Sounders one San Jose one.

Speaker 4

Jordan Morris really hit that well as probably chest high side.

Speaker 3

Vali did very well to keep it on frame. As you said, the power.

Speaker 4

Danielle could not knock it down and you.

Speaker 3

Know that's what you need. Their goal. Pellogrino's goal in right place, right time. Jordan Morris falls to him, right place, right time. That's goal number twelve for Jordan Morris. Good for him, well, good response off with the Sounders.

Speaker 9

Brian Schmittz's on his feet again, maybe it looks a little happier and Michelle ex stending just a couple of feet behind him. We'll throw it down to you, Michelle.

Speaker 15

Yes, I am happy to record.

Speaker 19

The whole bench seems to have taken a collective sigh of relief after that ball hit the back of the net. Definitely a reset that this team needed at this point in the match. Would great to see this performance out of Jordan Morris. When we were talking to Schwitzer earlier this week, he was saying how he challenged both Morris and Albert Rusnak to really keep their intensity up when

these opportunities come that. They've been great this season and they've gotten great wins with their performances over some really good teams, but to go keep in the playoffs, he needed more and so that was a huge challenge for them to really keep that intensity up. So great to see another strike and another goal for Jordan Morris, and like I said, hopefully they keep that going.

Speaker 9

As Nash rolls on, Yeah, thanks Michelle. Fourteen goals on Jordan Morris's campaign, he surpasses best all camp total of goals this year that with fifteen now is pushed to sixteen.

Speaker 2

Now.

Speaker 9

Good flick around the corner by Morris, heels clipped on Christian roll down, nothing given by the referee. Sound is now playing a bit more on the front foot high press to Daniel top of the box. There's a griazzo sometimes be a bit uncomfortable building out of the back, but manages to connect the pass and here comes the couple comes inside to Buddha and you've seen him really overprint up his legs yet and behind the back and forth of the sounder is he's got speed and power.

San Jose now are gonna have to settle things down, put themselves back in the game. The sounder is worth inching forward. Good start by San Jose, got their goal, couldn't hold onto it. That's been the story of their season. They've been in so many positions this year where they've been in winning positions, and they've just given up goals,

certainly the last lots of parts of the game. That's one in the first half, it's not the first twenty minutes or so, but giving up a ton of points and they've found themselves in that difficult position of being eliminated already from the playoffs.

Speaker 4

Yeah, you know, you think they get the goal, it's a it's a they're happy that they're on the road. They get the goal, and then minutes later they give one up and here we go again. We've now given up sixty six goals as a club. So it's got to be a bit demoralizing, and the sound of fan base has gotten right back in it.

Speaker 3

You said that they went silent. Now they're not silent anymore and all to play for once again.

Speaker 9

It comes Vargas right in the center spot rolls it out to the far side, the right to Dalla Veago's playing on that right hand so I we thought he might be playing on that left me off that left hand side, little drop of the shoulder to his preferred right foot, but playing on that right inside. Yama's gonna

slip it over the top. De la Vega just held his run there, made a little dancing run in behind via Hooven and left back for San Jose, but cut out well Santose build again, Hodriguez, yellow boots clips it, the orange boots clips it long over left it run by Pellegrina, good Win by Yamar in the air. Then's Christian rolled On picks it up, drives forward, all goes out to the right hand side to de la Vega.

Roth Frock holding on his back post, so rold On make it a run inside square into Vargas flicks it around the courts of Rosneck isn't able to pick it up. It goes back to Danielle, who launches it long good headed by Jackson. Reagan tries to find a green shirt, but it's picked up by San Jose and Hodriguez in the back line.

Speaker 3

That goal was a big lift.

Speaker 4

We just had a sequence where De la Vega's on the right hand side. He starts to take off Gomez. Androtti sees him. There's a little bit of hesitation between each of them and it doesn't quite work. I believe as time goes on that will be very synchronized and effective. De la Vega making those runs center Back's kind.

Speaker 9

Of good win by San Jose in the middle of the park off Vargas, but Vargas comes back well to defend, holds up, play goes down to Lopez, little ball into Pelgrenea, the goal scorer for San Jose on the far side. The left now is vere Hoover comes in square to Lopez back heel confident young player as you mentioned from Argentina central midfield playmaker, great nephew of the great Maradonna. Wow, yep,

and he looks like him, shorty Stock. He's got some shadow to break out of and Maradonna my friend of mine. My most memorable goal Argentina England was it wasn't the hand of God in eighty six. It was the ball that he picked up on the halfway line and ran past eight England players.

Speaker 3

Yeah, crowd was spectacular.

Speaker 4

I mean he was he was being real and like a horse most of the way to the goal, and it's that little to poke at the end to get it in.

Speaker 3

That was and the energy he brings those listening at home. Watch a warm up of Diego Maradona on YouTube. It's on YouTube. It's I saw it at Wembley Stadium live.

Speaker 9

It comes Maris well won by San Jose and Odriguez.

Speaker 3

It is spectacular. Why he just dances and balls on his foot.

Speaker 9

Players these days can be robotic. He was far from that, right, He had falsenality, He had lab He had a very different body type and you know you kind of a typical player now at the middle of the park and just magical feet.

Speaker 4

Yeah yeah, passion too, right, he played with us. You could tell he's playing with his heart all the time and he was having such fun.

Speaker 9

Okay, we lost Maradona just a couple of years ago. Sadly, seems to be revered by the Argentinian public fan base.

Speaker 13

There.

Speaker 3

Just a friend of mine from Nike went to his house in Argentina and they were selling chunks of his uh stuck on. It's a little chugged from this house. You know you've arrived when someone goes all the way to see your childhood home in bedroom and you buy a piece of stucco.

Speaker 9

Did they come into your house?

Speaker 29

Pe?

Speaker 9

No, buy some stuck up after you retire, like to tell you people that come into my house and dingstuf no fall of the feet of Danielle. So Sounders managed to find themselves back in the game. Born Born right now here at the QC pitch, lumen Field beare full night for soccer San Jose. I've had the last seven games Sounders haven't found a result, a positive result in terms of a win against San Jose somehow somewhere, just like Sporting Casey, they've been a thorn in the sound

of side. Tina hasn't performed well over the last number of years. It comes booty ed, turns the quarter well, got speed and power in the game. Does a brilliant job. Got beat initially came back, won the ball free kick for the sound as the Buddha drags back.

Speaker 20

I think it was.

Speaker 9

Rolled on, but really good defending by Yam. I got beat, but then managed to come back, win the ball and Jackson Reagan held him up and delayed. Good defending by the back line.

Speaker 4

Yeah, a terrific example and came from behind easily could have taken him down for a penalty kick.

Speaker 3

Did very well to not foul. But that's what you want to see, the guys coming back hitting the ball when they lose.

Speaker 9

It, saying a Buddha generation Adidas player from Kapina fasso or is that one goal in his campaign just a couple of weeks ago, very fast you mentioned powerful player Bobaseas been there. Standard number nine is on the bench ball. Judd came in from La this season, started of games as well, not available tonight. Then it comes to Lava and picks it up fartside the right. Good tracking back

by Pella Greenow. Sometimes his defensive work he could be called into question, but came back then did his job. It'll step over for absolutely no reason by knew who he drives forward, picks it up by Roth rock Well through the legs of God. But they have a free kick. That's what magic we'd love to see.

Speaker 3

For new who never knows why he was practicing that.

Speaker 9

He was practicing it.

Speaker 4

He's practicing with no one around him for fifteen yards. Then he gets in that situation, slips it right.

Speaker 9

We'll tell you I was talking to Chris Leach we're talking about different players. Chris Leach and the general manager of San Jose. I got coffee with him this morning. He's an old college at National champs with the National champs with me. We were captains together, really really good friend. And we'll talk about different players and we'll talk at new who and he's just you know, expecting him back in the lineup, which of course he did, but he's just an enigma by father bet one of the best

one B one defenders. And then he could do something like that as well in the attacking third. Yeah, pokes it through the legs, forces the foul. It comes Rosenick two arms up in the air, left hand side, whipped him with his right foot towards the pound spot header towards goal, bounces through saved by Christian buld On cornerkick for the Sounders. So headed out by the San Jose back line. Another chance for Rosneck to deliver a ball

in from a set piece. This sign from a corner on the Sounder's left hand side.

Speaker 4

You know he was laughing with Espinoza there because who did slip it through somebody's legs And you just imagine that conversation.

Speaker 3

He is a bit of an enigma, but he's ours and we love what he does.

Speaker 9

He is the rosneck, one arm up in the air, right foot in swinger towards the backstick. This time head up by Reagan goes over the top again he isn't able to direct his header on goal. Here in the thirty first minute you can see pitch lumin fields. Sound as one San Jose one Well. Sound as f C socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of sounder FC. Sounders trying to find three points will elevate

them up results. Today sound has started in fifth. We'll get some of those results around the league, certainly in the Western Conference. Lot's going on tonight sounds nap as standings go. They've been bumped to sixth. Vancouver's leap frog them, and the Vancouver is a team we will play in early October. So some big games coming up in the Western Conference. Houston next up week from Saturday. Here I'll finish a three game homer stands. It'll be Vancouver.

Speaker 3

Gormas Andrati's quietly having a very good game.

Speaker 4

Jackson Reagan goes in one on one ball, pops out heads toward the middle of field. Colmaz Andrati reads it early, gets their first cent it out stops any kind of attack from San Jose. But that's about the third time he's been very, very sharp.

Speaker 9

New who has a ball in his hands right front of the assistant of referee that's near side. The left goes along down the line, ended up go away by San Jose, picked up by Paul rothrock comes off car pop, So you're throwing for the Sounders again with New gets it quicker this time slice it with his right foot. It's like oky clearance cleaned up by yea my top of his box scrolled on, does a great job protecting the ball. Later back to now, this time strikes you

well up the park. Delave gets clattered into by Hodriguez. But this copyretic audio cast a Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted to reproduced more rebroadcast without the express. When the kidsent of Major League Soccer, sound us one San Jose one, the scot Lee is presented by Aqua. Don't leave us at half time, Jackson felts, We'll be here. We'll see are you gonna take a break for the half time.

Speaker 3

I've been a college coach for a long time.

Speaker 9

Just grimes to horsepower, horse packer.

Speaker 27

If Dela Vegas strikes it over the top, speculative shot from the angle from de la Vega, but why not?

Speaker 9

No real options forward?

Speaker 4

Ryan was when I was coaching at halftime, I never took a break. The kids are listening waiting for something, you know, and let's give it to Jackson.

Speaker 30

Sound as a build out the back of mooning down the stars side, so the corpo comes in side, so grants so just show for the ball, places it up, clicks around the boat by sfnoes a good step by Jackson.

Speaker 9

Reagan wins the ball. Sounders gonna filled again with de la Vega as they build out the back, we'll throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 15

Thanks Danny.

Speaker 19

We've obviously talked quite a bit this season about the emergence of Paul Rothrock and how impressive it has been to see. I wanted to point out a moment that just took place a few.

Speaker 15

Minutes ago on the sideline.

Speaker 19

The bench earlier in this match had been instructing him on certain ways and certain positions to be in during this match, and you could tell he didn't quite get it. He ran over as soon as there was a dead moment to clarify with the coaching staff what exactly it

was that they wanted from him to do. And it just speaks to that work ethic that Brian Schwenzer has been telling us about how he comes into training every single day and is outworking this team and has really led that charge and that elevating the whole entire work ethic of this team and the competition that comes with it at every single position.

Speaker 9

Thanks Michelle. Three goals to assist on his MLS campaign. This year's first full MLS campaign as a Sounder all the US Open Cup. Couple of goals in these cups are quite an impressive really first full year for Paul Rothrock, certainly his first preseason with the Sounders as a pro

signed up last year. During the season, having some impressive players at the US Open Cup play Sounders have it with Alex Roldan tucked him from his right backspot, gost Jordan Morris flicker the outside of his right foot to Christian Roldan rolls it down to his brother Alex fastside the right closed down by Vere Hoover. Peter Sounders build. You know you've been a coach for many many years.

What a joy is to have a player lif Rothrock just head down, works hard, does what he's supposed to do, does his job, and then elevates his game as well.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and he wants to keep getting better all the time.

Speaker 4

It's very impressive. It's a good catch from Michelle. What I love about him is he wants to get better and help any way he can. You know, he's if he's not in the eighteen, he's making sure that the guy ahead of him and he is ready.

Speaker 3

Every team needs Paul rod Rocket.

Speaker 4

I don't know, I feel like he's become a regular starter. I don't think you can keep him out of the lineup. He's he just made a great little third man running day Levega didn't quite see it, but it doesn't throw his arms up in frustration.

Speaker 3

He comes straight back, gets behind the ball again.

Speaker 9

It's interesting. We were touring to Brian today and we said, listen, you know Joe pallow is out. That was a problem to solve. The problem has been solved with Christian woldn't drop him back. Yeah, really played out of his skin, both defensively and offensively. And then of course now it opens up a space and that attacking three. The Lavega steps in there well, Rothrock of course is steps in

the world. Georgia mcdungo has got a start yeah as well, after signing a first team contract just a couple of weeks ago. So all of a sudden, you would have settled in eleven. But you've really got fourteen or fifteen guys that can really step in and do a great job. That doesn't need to take consideration. You got Rol Routinez on this bench, you got the choose still available, you know when he's fit and healthy. You've got Atensio. The lots of players would come in and do a really

good job. Bryan, he's certainly got a plethora of options, right.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it's wonderful and it almost feels like something's coming.

Speaker 4

I feel like Jackson, Reagan, Thomas and Rati together are really in sync tonight and have that and they're getting better and better. And Jackson Reagan's got three goals this year, and so yeah, they're in a really good position and really DearS has gas in the tank. He'd be a great guy to them off the bench in a playoff run.

Speaker 9

Foul by I think it was a push by Jackson Reagan. The referees calling because Rothrock came in hard. As we're just talking about it, can do stuff on both sides of the ball, gets stuck in right in front of Brian Schmitz and it makes a real solid tackle. I don't think it was the push in the back from Reagan that caused the foul.

Speaker 4

Then I love that he walks over and gives a guy a little handshake and on his tough he is careering, tough competitor, loves to take people.

Speaker 3

He's got four nutmegs this season.

Speaker 9

All intention is Rothrock driving forward, out running Esperoza. Ball goes in him as left a brilliant ball, but slice by Brusnak, but it's gonna be a yellow cart and Espernosa he got turned and then it came clattering into Rothrock and find a great ball to Rosnak, but referee pulls it back. It's gonna be a free kick.

Speaker 27

For the Sounders six yards or so from the end line, left channel. But again Paul Rothrock just showing a different side of him, this time power and speed and then fission to find Groznak at the.

Speaker 9

Top of the box.

Speaker 3

Perfect ball and he ran it just went forty yards with the ball, and he with Espinosa all over him, and then he paid the price.

Speaker 4

Espinoza got him from behind. But you are correct, left footed ball right to Russnik at the edge of the box.

Speaker 3

Russnick probably wants that back.

Speaker 4

Would like to have been able to maybe take a second touch, plenty of room, but have the wherewithal to be running that far with someone all over you and fine teammate.

Speaker 3

Great stuff from Paul.

Speaker 9

Upper thirty eighth minute Here loomingfield Sounders one, San Jose one Sounders half a free kick seven yards or so from the end line on this near side the Sounders left is going to be Rosnack with his right foot, got a chance to win this ball right on top of Dannielle, not the biggest goalkeeper. More goes in low, cleared well by San Jose's good delivery boy. Russack had some curl some power balls clicked in towards his near

side to give up. Pour it down brilliantly by the big sense about with his left foot and then retains possession. Christian Weld on top of the box reverse ball into Rusnak looking for an option on top of the boxes bar guess a little loose on the touch but goes out. Rothrock falalse side right foot comes in well to Jordan Morris. Second goal of the night for Jordan Morris. What a great time to score for the Sounders, San Jose. We're not able to deal with the.

Speaker 27

Cross Jordan Morris, right time, right place, and that's his fifteenth regular season goal of the season.

Speaker 9

Sounders lead two goals to one.

Speaker 3

Well, isn't that great?

Speaker 4

We just saw the foul that created that ball from Rusnik was Rothrock on the left hand side. This time he's now on the right hand side from the same spot, but on the other side of the field. Jordan Morris takes a very good touch once again. Rothrock clins his teammate. Good touch, does a great job finishing. Really easy to miss those, Danny.

Speaker 3

You're under pressure.

Speaker 4

You got players all around it, easy to get underneath the sky. Great goal from Jordan Morris.

Speaker 3

Brod like that.

Speaker 9

Perfect timing for Goldwoyn Schmidt to a light that going into the halftime break. But San Jose has caught the Sounders out before. Let's not forget down in San Jose. When the Sounders were too nil down a halftime clawed it back to two to two, and then inside a minute after the Sassie score that equalizing goal, Santose were

able to find the winner. So Sanders need to be on their toesy and not give anything away five minutes until the break via Hooven on the far side of the left picks it up and drags it forward and we'll see how San Jose respond now. The September fifteenth. October fifteenth is LATINX Heritage Month. Sport LATINX own businesses throughout the month for a chance to win Sounders prizes. Visit intentionalist dot com to find a business near you.

Warthrock Double Team by Garretzo Carpop picked up well by Block Up Late Challenge by Garretzo not what as sound as they would want to do, give up and found another dangerous area.

Speaker 4

Paul Rothrock taking a beating for the team, lost the ball, got the ball back.

Speaker 9

But doesn't that just speak to what I've just talked about, what Michelle talks about, what you've talked about.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 4

And you know played at Notre Dame for Bobby Clark, Brian Weize at Georgetown and I'm sure those two guys are so proud of just the work ethic and then never give up. And you know his family loves it when people say, well, he's not that good, right, I think people are done saying that because he's proven himself weak in and week out and again, and he's you know, as a kid who gives back in the community, really bright young man. So Jimmy McAllister from Sale United used to say, We're going.

Speaker 3

To be voting for Paul Rothrock someday in some election.

Speaker 9

I look forward to that one. Can Marris find a hat trick? He's on two goals? Tonight, fifteenth regular season MLS gold Sam does have a chance to put some delivery in eighteen yards from the airline. Just pinched him from this near touchline. Whitefoot of Brasna goes whowards the fast sick easily collected by Daniel and the second attempt just prries it down well. Speaker 27

Luominfield ninet fifteen KGr Am don't leave us at halftime, Jackson phelps, We'll be back to break things down.

Speaker 9

Good respond by the Sounders. It comes. Jordan Brice just tries to find it around the corner to Alex Roldan. Couldn't do it. It was over the endline. Goalkick for san Jose as they try and take a breath here get inside the lock roomer halftime Ben half time team talk for Brian kind of sets himself up well for the second half. Right, wasn't a great start. San Jose got off on the front foot, got that goal, but then there's been the case of their entire seat and they just happen to be able.

Speaker 3

To hold on.

Speaker 4

Yeah, he'll be pleased with the response going down one nothing, and then how they've been playing, the quality of play, the effort, a lot of individual quality for players defensively and offensively.

Speaker 3

Two terrific goals well deserved.

Speaker 9

What goes from this side? The assign to the fast side cut out well by outroll down de la Vega picks it up and see eventy minutes Delavega gets stressened off through the legs of Gretz, picks up well by Pellegrino, goalscorer for San Jose comes back laiseevet to Mooney.

Speaker 4

Then you can see the pelic de la Vega, right, they're trying to slip it through his legs, and you just say, well, you know, he's trying everything right, and he's not afraid to try anything that's in the middle of the park. Those guys that have had the limited minutes that he's had maybe wouldn't.

Speaker 3

Try to do that.

Speaker 9

So let me ask you a question. Yeah, brance Schmeisa like Dela Veager defensive half of the field, Well, I was into Jordan marks on a hat trick. Is Jordan inside the eighteen yard box picks it up, just shrugs up Moony back to new his left hand side. We'll get your comments in a minute about price Smitza likes thet Mega chips in the defensive half of the field. We'll see if he's got love of wood with Dela Vega at halftime about that one. Then it comes Christian

rolled On rolls at the foot of Batman Delavega. This time he goes out to rolled on right hand side inside the box, so his left foot strikes it, slice it ches wide. It's gonna be a gold kick. Two one sounders a good build up again by the Mini Green.

Speaker 4

Yeah, terrific build up and de la Vega there edge of the box plays a good early ball to Alex rolled On takes a little bit of a tight touch so cuts inside. That did not look like it was far wide at all. We see on the replay maybe a foot off well struck from Alex Pete Danielle. So to answer your question, No, Brian Spetzer does not want Pedro de la Vega trying to nut.

Speaker 3

Somebody in the defensive third of the field. It might be brought up. Please don't do that.

Speaker 9

Better do that when you two one out than one bill down.

Speaker 3

If it has Freddy to go, tell him that, Please tell him not to do that.

Speaker 9

Jackson free gets bundled down by Udo, who's sure.

Speaker 3

Precky he get the Praki would be the guy probably do that.

Speaker 9

One, I don't know, But then Pranky's probably done.

Speaker 3

That probably a thousand times, and he's not pracky. That's where Brecky would do.

Speaker 9

You'd probably say, hey, don't do that unless you could actually finish up the move and put it between his.

Speaker 3

Legs and then move forward.

Speaker 4

That'd be a great one to have on video and bring him into the office and say you can't do this. It's like me wearing a tank top. I should not wear a tank top.

Speaker 9

Please please don't give you that vitel. Keep the sports shack you on. Three minutes about it time here iq see pitch luminfield sound is leading two goals to one score that is presented by provident Swedish sounds pick it up middle of the pup now so to force themselves upon San Jose. It's been pretty even fifty to fifty so far in possession senders. They came out of the blocks flying. There was sixty five percent in the early parts of the game. Sounders man managed to pull it back,

but it's been back and forth. So if the player hasn't had too much to do for the first five or seven minutes, as Jackson Reagan uses big six foot five frame, knocks down maybe five foot four Kernan Lopez. No foul given by the referee, just cushions over the end line. It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. A discount tire get thirty percent short average weight time when you play and book online at discount tire dot com.

Speaker 3

Jackson right there, you're right.

Speaker 4

That's big versus little, and he just shepherded the ball out and the thump you heard put Santose player unfortunately going against the wall, and Jackson just kind of looked at him like, look, you shouldn't have gotten.

Speaker 3

In my way.

Speaker 9

There comes Sounders again. Given go with Ross ruzneck towards Morris. Your tackle by Mooney goes over the end line. Another corner kick for the Sounders as they try to see how the final ninety seconds or so can they find the third goal. All important third goals kind of break open.

This game all goes short to new which is the first time there's left foot good delivery top of the sex Headie clear by Pdriguets, picked up by goll Done pushing head to his brother Alex, pressed by Buddha as the ball goes all the way back to Stephan Fry, who would like to mention once again second all time

in MLS and shutouts. Got it last weekend against Sporting k c One hundred and thirteen shutouts for Stephan fry Actually it's a couple of old San Jose goalkeepers in canon, Joe Cannon and John Bush who set fifth and seventh respectively. But some ways to go in to get Nick Romondo. But tell you Fryers continued to play at such a high level at it's good to see it back to in between the sticks. After getting a little knock against pauland to put him out for a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3

We'll knock got him ten stitches. And Tommy Ducher said when he came in the locker room he couldn't believe how well the Dodger had sewn him up. And the boy comes right back to it.

Speaker 4

And his comments with Michelle after that game were just so impressive to me, a great perspective.

Speaker 3

It wasn't you know, I've just played a long time. He was grateful.

Speaker 4

He's had his share of injuries when he was in Toronto, and he relishes you know that the opportunity to play this long takes care of his body.

Speaker 3

He's good pro. Paul Rothrock can learn a lot from him, right and it has learned a lot from.

Speaker 9

Him well as a referees, we're so bang on three minutes. Sends the teams into the locker room and the Sounders will have a smile on their face. Now, it was an early goal by Pellegrino in the fifteenth minute that caught the Sounder is off god put San Jose up one goal to nil, and then a quick fire response by Jordan Morris was fourteenth and fifteenth goal of his regular season campaign in the twenty first and thirty ninth minute for the Sounders. Pete your final thoughts.

Speaker 3

I'm happy with the way the Sounders have responded to that going down that goal.

Speaker 4

They've been creative. There's been some good interchange between the players. Moving positions. Mayking it very difficult for San Jose because guys aren't just staying on the left or standing on the right or in the middle. Good service on restarts. I think Albert's only missed one long so Seattle looks good.

Speaker 3

I think they're enjoying themselves. I think Brian Schpetzer says, let's get more goals, let's put this one to bed early.

Speaker 9

We'll take a showp break. Jackson felts we'll be back to break it all down. But here at equc pitch and lumin field at halftime is the soundest to San Jose Earthquakes. One.

Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.

Speaker 2

Forty five minutes into books here at Lowinfield, and your Sounders have fought back and they've come back for a lead on San Jose. The score is two to one after a wild first forty five minutes. I'll tell you that tonight's match is presented by Umpqua Bank, the official

banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Really quickly as we begin the halftime show, I'll quickly take you around the scoreboard in the Western Conference today, it's been a final between Houston and Vancouver, a one to one final that he split the points, which actually is good for Seattle in the grand scheme things. As we kind of look at the standings, but a couple other interesting games that

we have our eye on. First, Portland leads LA by a score of two to one, so LA not getting any points there is keeping them closer to the middle of the table. Portland obviously in contention to try to get up to a top four seed, so that's good for them. But also one more to point out LAFC losing one nothing at the half to Austin right now. That impacts the Sounders because listen, LAFC has games hand.

But if LAFC were to lose tonight and the Sounders were to win points wise, Seattle would actually jump LAFC the Western Conference. So a couple of things that we're gonna be mindful of and will of course hit on the postgame show later tonight. But listen, Jackson felats here here from Woomenfield for the halftime show. This was an exciting first half of the Sounders. It didn't start very exciting. San Jose got an early goal in the sixteenth minutes.

Kind of just a bad situation where Christian Espinoza, who we talked about in the pre match show, puts a cross in in the pro man and Stephen Fry. I think the first mistake was misjudging it a little bit, a little bit indecisive in terms of coming out or staying in for it. He kind of gets in between the ball drops it's headed by, you know, one of the San Jose attackers there, Pelgrino.

Speaker 3

I believe it was.

Speaker 2

So Pelgrino heads it down, Christian rolled on as here you're hearing the chance here and the cheers here for the Luminfield Halftimes show. Somebody just hit the crossbar in the crossbar channel anyway, So that San Jose goal, it's headed down by pell Agrino, and then Christian Roldan tries to box out Pelgrino instead of just slamming the ball, you know, when in doubt hit it out. Christian doesn't hit it out. He tries to box out Pelgrino. Maybe he was waiting for his brother Alex to step in

and clear it away. That also didn't happen.

Speaker 18

Another mistake there, and ultimately Pellegrino steps right in front of Christian.

Speaker 2

And slams it in the back of the net. So that was a goal there for San Jose. But boy it went up from there and things got much better. Jordan Morris in the twenty first minute, after a wild sequence where a free kick is first headed away by

San Jose, it's headed away to obit Vargas. Vargas shoots it from distance, It hits off Christian rolled on deflex out to Christian's left and then it actually comes off of another San Jose player, a Bounda and Bound tries to clear it, but he clears it off of the armor hip of Pedro de la Vega unintentionally a clearance gone wrong. Dale le Vega's armor hip sends it over

to Jordan Morries. Then Morris slims it into the back of the net to make up one to one in the twenty first and then eighteen minutes later in the thirty ninth minutes, Jordan Morris with a very nice clean goal that he gets off a Paul rothrock cross that has given the Sounders a two to one lead. Right now and Sounder's EPs Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish

official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. We'll take a break and talk about the Sounders bench and how they can lock up three points tonight and keep this two to one lead and get a win tonight. That comes up next on Sports Radio nine fifty km.

Welcome back to the Halftime Show live from Bloomenfield, where the Sounders currently leading the visiting San Jose earth Quicks by a score of two to one. Sounders were down after San Jose scored in the sixteenth minutes, but two goals from Jordan Morris his twelfth goal of the year in the twenty first minute his thirteenth goal of the year in the thirty ninth minutes have gotten the Sounders

this two to one lead. Well, Hey, if you're looking for a fun night out with friends and family, check out our last group theme night offer of the twenty twenty four season. I also mentioned that this copyrighted audio cast on Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express ratting consent of Major League Soccer. Let's say a look at the Sounders benest tonight. It includes of course Raal Ruy Diaz, Nathan the Center, Dylan Tevez, Jonathan Bell, Josh Atensio, Danny Leva, Reed, Baker Whiting, Georgie Manoongoo, and also Andrew Thomas the goalkeeper. With a two to one game right now, and the fact that the Sounders don't

play again until a week from Saturday. They don't play for a while, so really there's an opportunity here to not only get some run in, but also just keep your guys out there and to make sure that they walk down in three points in this game, because the next game is Saturday, September twenty eighth against Houston, also back here at Lumen Field. So really I would love for you know, the horses of a you know, a Jordan, a Pedro, a Paul to get a long run in

this game. I love the idea of adding a center back or later on just locking it down defensively. Georgie Manoingoo would be really fun to see if you were to, you know, give some time off or a Pedro or a Paul, or or shift the Paul somewhere else. I'm not sure pedro into the middle of the park. You

want to take a minute off. Albert Rusnik, I think there's lots of options for Brian Schmetzer in this game, but ultimately, because they don't play for so long, I think it allows this game where if it stays two to one for an extended period of time, you can keep really good players out there on the field to lock up this three points as it may be very impactful when it comes to this Western Conference table. We talked about the results LAFC right now losing to Austin.

Crazy things happening in the Western Conference. We'll talk about that more on the postgame show. But the Sounders currently leading San Jose two to one here at Leewinfield Danny Jackson Pete viewing. They'll be back for the second half of this game, and it kicks Rack, It kicks off again next on Sports Radio nine to fifty km.

Welcome back Sounders fans. The players worked their way onto the field, Sounders leading two goals so on off the back of a San Jose goal in the first fifteen minutes by Pellegrino, and then it was Jordan Morris in the twenty first and the thirty ninth minute for his fourteenth fifteenth regular season game goals of the year's surpassing his total all com goals his career. Let's get you

this starting lineup for Brans Schwetz and no changes. It looks like Stefan Pryan gole a back fourth, Roldan Yemo, Reagan Knew whom Chushion rolled on alongside over At Vargas, Pedro de la Vega, Rozneck Rothrock and then Morris, and congratulations to de la Vega got his first assist as

a Sounder for that Morris goal. His first goal in the very first game of the season in the Peaky It's l EFC and then it's had a couple of injuries of course over the course of the season, but now back getting some miles under his legs, getting prepped for the run in here in the final month of the season and then into the playoffs. So a good time to have a player like della Vega back into the lineup is Rosneck gets us going for the second half.

Sounders in their anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts, white socks, tack in the south end in their traditional end. The goal to our rights, ball goes over the top, Jordan Moore's challenges puts it back in a chance to shoot, maybe from a tight angle. Trying to cut it back

to Rosneck wasn't able to find it. Quick start by the Sounders, all goes to Buddha, held up by rolled on back to Vie who so the goalscorer pelle GRENI a little quick turn by Lopez, it's the ball away rolls out to this near se so let's get you the line up four Ian Russell Sano's eighteen Danny Allen goal about four Nicarpo, Mooney, Rodriguez and vi Who Jakiris and Gretzo in the middle of the park, Espernoz and Lopez la Guino the goal scorer. Then Buda up front.

Sanders get going on his right hand, said.

Speaker 20

Bola.

Speaker 9

So towards Jordan Morris, passed off by the Sounders, tries to find the ball back into Russick. Is they able to connect point viehober the San Jose picks it up with Pellegrini. A good challenge by de la Vega, but somehow somewhere San Jose get it. Lopez tries to switch the point of attach from this near side to the far side. I think certain. Michelle Ludca had a chance to talk to Brian Schmitzer and as the Sounders built out the back, We're gonna throw down to you, Michelle, I did.

Speaker 2

Danny.

Speaker 19

I just talked with coach on his way back out of the tunnel and he told me his message at halftime.

Speaker 15

I'm gonna sound it out, almost almost send it back to you.

Speaker 3

Danny.

Speaker 15

It looks like you're gonna have a break there for a moment.

Speaker 19

But on that note, he said that his messaging to the team was he gave them credit for their good response after going down a goal, but he was not happy with overall how much they left San Jose brially be in that first for five minutes to play. You really focused on reminding them of how fast and strong they came out in the first ten minutes in the second.

Speaker 15

Half against Casey and told them do that again.

Speaker 19

And if we do that and we remain in control of this thing, he goes, there's no reason why we shouldn't go.

Speaker 15

Away with three points.

Speaker 9

Yeah, thanks Michelle for San Jose thinking about the blocks fast in their first half. Five shots on their first half performance for San Jose, most of those were in the opening flurry. The Sounders managed to clawback possession, clawback momentum. Got eleven shots on gold in that first half. Two of those hit the back of the net. Who has it?

And people'll get to your comments in the thoughts in a moment as all goes in picked up by San Jose and Pellegrini, who's going to roll it out for the far side of the rights of Vudhos showed some power and speed. There's the lone front guy for San Jose, not much support as teammates. Now it is Espinosa that the wriggle free of Reagan, good tracking back, Christian rolled On always doing the work, great example of all the

young players. Jordan Morris is not able to hold it up and do his number nine worker's back to goals. You've been lockers before, so obviously Brian Schwt superb Michelle has express his frustration at times. It understandable for a team that has been eliminated from the playoffs, you're not able to get to that fifty five percent mark possession he likes to get. What's Brian said to his team, what's he thinking about substitutions in his second half?

Speaker 3

Yeah, I think he's making sure that they don't get complacent.

Speaker 4

Two to one lead is good, but three to one, four to one, that's what they want to get to. They want to make it so that it's put San Jose away. And he's also done the right thing and saying, look, this team has capabilities and you cannot, you know, go to sleep on them on restarts, on the counter attack. So he's done the right thing by keeping them sharp and then you kind of see how it goes. But I think he's got enough weapons on the bench.

Speaker 3

Can you get.

Speaker 9

Ruideas into the game, get him enjoying playing.

Speaker 4

And connecting with his teammates. Maybe it's Josh Intensio alonga do do you do? You get Manongo?

Speaker 3

Excuse me, Georgie back on the field, because I think he's done a good job.

Speaker 9

It'd be nice that good won't go out there.

Speaker 4

Actually I looked at that and said, that's not that's not our guy. But if we get Georgie back on the field, I think he's another weapon. You've talked about the weapons earlier. Right now, Rothrock dala Vega are doing a great job. You get Georgie in there, more guys, you get confident, the better. But the most important thing right now is the next you know, forty minutes, forty five minutes to make sure that we get the three points.

Speaker 3

Right there, and then they got a ten day break. So keep him sharp, don't let San Jose get involved in the game, and let's keep pressing for more goals, but not get exposed.

Speaker 9

Let's get you that full ventch for the Sanders and what's available for Brian Schmidtz Ortensio Bell Andrew Thomas, the

goalkeeper Leava's a minute. So the last couple of games, Roy Schweitzer talked about his impact and practicing in games, Menango, Nathan Ruy, Diaz Tevez and then read Baker White whose the ball gets flicked good cushion headed by Knew who San Jose had an initial little shout for a corner cack but says at referee on the far side, runs up, rolls it into Ron who rolls it right back to

Stephan Fried decktawn in all yellow. How does I mentioned when shirts blue, shorts, White, Song teching the gold to our right, San Jose, and they're all black kit with flashes of blue as well. All was found for the Brosna clearby Ruezo did a job in the middle of the park, just cleaning things up, launched long picked up again by the sound as Candade take advantage of chances in the second half Senate this morn in Kansas City were able to do that Miscretso it's gonna get a

yellow karda that's not necessary for that fowl. But I think it was a succession of fowls going back to the first half. I think it was one of the players who knocked down Paul Rothtrock goes into that first spo, but he does pick up a yellow cod and that's an SGB yellow cod. If Allas called SGB Troyer lawyers a hand to help is an sgbdsh law dot com.

Speaker 4

I like that from Ovid Vargas penetrating through the middle of the field, opening things up, getting by a midfielder so that now he's gonna draw a defender to him.

Speaker 3

Chokey makes him room for Jorge Morris or one of the flanks.

Speaker 4

We are watching Obed grow up right in front of us, getting better, getting more confident, making better decisions. I'm right there having the confidence to go take somebody on, Danny. I'm enjoying this team tonight.

Speaker 3

I think that we're seeing a lot of quality soccer, and it seems like they're enjoying it as well. And this is the time of the year. We've climbed up the table a little bit. We've been on a great.

Speaker 4

Run for the last twelve games thirteen games, and getting a win tonight would be fantastic.

Speaker 3

It's another goal and the other another goal.

Speaker 9

Would be great put this game to bed. As we mentioned, Sporting Kansas City. They had chances in the first part of that second half, weren't able to put it away. Brian Schwetz talked about it, and here's press conference demanding him. It's execution the final third from the Sounders as San Jose build it out, clip it down the line. That's near side, right in front of Brian Schwetz on his bench,

picked up well by the Sounders. Referee Victor Reeves gives what looked like a rather soft fowl for San Jose right in front of the Sounders bench.

Speaker 3

I agree with you. I don't think Gormaz and Rody did too much there. He was stayed behind. I don't think he came through. Yeah, I don't see the foul on that one at all.

Speaker 9

So fifty third minute here you see pitched lumin Field Sports Radio nine fifty KG San Jose trailing to the Sounders two goals to one. The score up that is presented by Umpquah Sada's getting ten days a break until their next game, another home game at lumin Field week on Saturday. It's Houston get some of those Western Conference results that are going to impact the Sounders standings that

fluid this time of the year. When games come through sounders, you the change position on a regular basis, so we'll see how things land. Things go up. They've started in fifth, they dropped down to sixth. I'm looking at the standings right now. The Sounders get their three points. They jumped to third forty nine points, so it's amazing how tight

the table is. We look at Houston, it's seventh and forty five points, Sounders sitting at actually Salt Lake and second and fifty points, so a five point gap between seventh and second. LA Galaxy currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference with fifty five Sounders can get to forty nine today if they earned this three points.

As Ye goes barreling into the like we know, they're picked up well by the car, pop down the right handside to Espernosa, main man for San Jose over the years, well goes a great Paul to grets and made the run and he was a central defensive centiment. Field player found himself in foreign soil inside the eighteen year old books and I don't know quite what to do, smashed into the side nets and goalkick. Sounders remains two one.

Speaker 4

It shows you though how dangerous San Jose could be. One little ball slipped in get an opportunity where fortunate it goes.

Speaker 3

Why there?

Speaker 4

But Goma's Androtia is such a load. He just went through telogram and no foul. But it's just a big body and he uses his body so well. And frankly, if I was to say which of the two were a foul, I might go with that one, right.

Speaker 3

Versus the one that the reveree just called in the center of the field. So what do you think? Do you think Reagan, Dolma's Androti are as sharp as they've been all season? Right now?

Speaker 9

You know what we talked about it during the year, right you and I've talked about it offline as well, where I'll like the go a bit of slow stoff. But both players didn't have great preseason that were injured. They were out obviously Jackson Rie got some national team call ups then picked up an injury, so they didn't have a full pre season and that does take its toll. But now they're getting back obviously to have been in an ever present since really the beginning parts of the season,

and they're really showing their work. I mean, the sound has continue to be right up there in terms of goals against in the Western compas they tied the best defensive record in MLS last year thirty three goals against this year.

Speaker 2

So.

Speaker 9

They're right up there again. I think, as Bryce Schveets will talk player, it's not just those two, right, it's the entire back line. Yes, So when Fry steps up makes big says like if you against Sporting KC when he needs to, as did Andrew Thomas, and then the defensive midfield players are such a shield for the.

Speaker 4

Back four, all right, and you gotta give rolled on Roldan's knew who credit as well.

Speaker 3

Synchronicity is fun to watch.

Speaker 9

What goes in to Lopez again top of the box. Wasn't able to wriggle freeze get the ball away a couple of times. There's been the knock on him a little bit early parts of his career with San Jose, great presence, great potential. Young players needs to learn when to potentially play it simple and then take some chances. Devin's Securus knocks about to Hodriguez, sounds they're gonna field all the way from the back.

Speaker 13

Well.

Speaker 9

Tonight's match is presented by Umqua Bank the official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 9

The fifty seventh minute, Sounders continue to lead San Jose two goals to one. Both of these clubs celebrating their fiftieth anniversary. This is the second game of the season for the Heritage Cup. That's a little competition between San Jose and the Sounders when all the way back to two thousand and nine, San Jose already won on their first game down in San Jose this year as they picked them all up on the right hand side of Kapon.

I'll just knock it in good if any buy New who had to find the back flecks off him, walk quickly flick from rolled on to the far side to New and it goes roth right down the outside who skips by a San Jose defender. Now the foot of rosneck to New a chance to strike. Good challenge picked up top of the bocks playing rock far gas. That's

a wrath rock. Another good challenge this side by gret So goes down to the deck, wins the ball picked up far side by Carpup, knocks it back to Moody towards an end line, flicks it down the line the far side. San Jose's right leaned up by the Sounders and Gamer rolls it back to Stephan Fry number two all time in MLS clean sheets with one hundred and thirteen. He'd picked that up against forty Kansas City.

Speaker 3

What a signing.

Speaker 4

He was coming from Toronto, all a bit unproven, came in, got the spot.

Speaker 3

He's at it ever since.

Speaker 9

We've been spoiled by goalkeepers.

Speaker 3

Boy, you're correct.

Speaker 9

Well the ball goes the de la Vega brought down well strike so is right foot high? And why Jordan Morris asking for it on it's right so I need to pull it out the twenty five yards out a chanced. The volley didn't strike it cleanly, went over the top, goal kick two one.

Speaker 4

Sound is not afraid to try it, right, Jordan Morris maybe a better option there, but we see it with de le Vega. He just plays free, right, He just he's not afraid to go on attack. I'm afraid to take people on. I'm afraid to get in tech spaces and take more than one on at a time. And right there, Jordan would like that ball, I'm sure. But dey le Vega is not afraid to try to hit the half ball.

Speaker 9

In a sound as f C Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FCS. We see a couple of subs for the sound is making their way

up to the bench to get some final instructions. Remaker winting, okay, Georgia Meningo getting a chance to strip off and we'll see what changes that will bring and who will come off as Lopez bowls if the to far side the right to Espinoso has been lively in this game so far, tries to find his diminutive playmaker has bundled into the back. I think it's bar Gas, and I think a combination

of Bargas and Jackson Reagan. It's gonna be a free kick for San Jose just right of center, twenty five yards or so away from Stephan fris Golf.

Speaker 4

Honestly, not being a home er, I didn't like that call. I thought Jackson Reagan was there, got the ball to it. It is a big guy coming.

Speaker 3

Through a smaller guy. It's in a dangerous spot.

Speaker 4

I don't see uh and I didn't see any San Jose players throwing their arms up, you know, playing foul.

Speaker 9

That the last one we we'll see. We're in some rumblings down on the bench at San Jose as well. He point you can pick it up for the microphone. It's Bobase and Jackson Yule. So club captain Ewell is going to come on the field for Chicerus and Lopez is also going to come off the field. Who just got fouled? And if Obase central striker, who did score when San Jose we're here last and then one they'll win.

Last year he got that winning goal. You also got the winning goal in that three two with a minute or so after Massovs who scored that equaliser. They both come on the field. So I've remember change now for Ian Russell's men. Will see what changes that will do to the attacking line of where if Obase will play, where Budo will play. They're trying to call themselves back

in this game. But sepur PRIs going have to face a free kick twenty five yards out right at center Esperanosa has four men in the wall sitting right on top of the eighteen. Ball goes up and over the wall and over the top of the crossbar. It's gonna be a goalkick for Sep and fry you know. In the sixty first minute QUC pitch lumin Field Sports Radio nine to fifty kr AM sounders to San Jose, One Pete viewing.

Speaker 4

Jackson Yule played at UCLA terrific player for them, had some time with the national team. He's been a little up and down last couple of years, but he is He's another one of those players that college guy has come in and earned the captain's band. We played against him in a NCAA tournament game, second round and only cow.

Speaker 3

He was the best player on the field as a freshman. You might wonder who won that game. I do want it there sat there you go, Yeah, great game.

Speaker 9

I think anyone bring it up.

Speaker 3

If you lost, no, I would die.

Speaker 4

It's self serving on my part, but we're giving him a compliment. I think he is a terrific player for San Jose.

Speaker 9

As de la Vega flicks it around the corner, we'll see what changes Bryan Schmidz will make if he Makawaitson's played left back in the last two games before this started. Two games plays of Newhoe. See if that'll be a lightful light switch. Who gets flicked down the line farstside the left a little twice in the second half, but it Tea used to run atholutely sleep down that left hand side. All goes back to Danielle who rolls it into Gretzer's not coming toward the ball, just wriggles free

hope slipped under his foot for a second. He wasn't purpose for that touch one goes into Buddha far side. Sound as he's right. Referee's just gonna whistle it dead and give Potentially this sounds a chance to make these subs, and we'll get a chance to see what changes that will be. For Brian Schmitzer, de la Vega's gonna come off. Sixty two minutes for de la Vega's he continues to build himself back. Read Baker Whiting comes.

Speaker 1

On for.

Speaker 9

De la Vega. See what change that will be if that will be a read Baker Whiting. There's Rothrock on the far side. Walked off on the far side because you have ten seconds to get there, and he was on the far side from the halfway line and saw near touch line, so he walked off the far side.

So it's Rothrock off, read Baker Whiting on. He'll do a like fil switch more defensively minded now for boy Schwitza potentially the left hand side, and then Georgia Gonogo's gonna slot in with Dela bag on this right hand side.

Speaker 4

I'm glad to see Georgie get back on the field. You're right, rothback rather quiet in the second half, fifteen minutes in probably will get touched the ball for two or two times, maybe three.

Speaker 3

So Georgie gives us a spark for that second half, gets Jorge Morris the service he needs.

Speaker 9

Yeah, Bull goes out of falls side free kick for San Jose. With that, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 2

Thank you.

Speaker 19

Jackson, yeah or Danny excuse me, yes. A couple of notes on those substitutions. Dale Vega coming off because he's still on a pitch count. They're watching his minutes, which was the move there, and overall, as both of you said, they're looking for a little bit more energy and a little bit more fire right now to keep the intensity up in the second half.

Speaker 9

Thanks love cut, appreciate that as sen as they have it.

Speaker 3

Michelle pitch Kilt, her husband's former Mariner pitcher. We do we say pitch count in sonder.

Speaker 9

I know that I grew up in England, not in a cricket overs. The ball goes at the voodoa inside the box, sounds defending top of the boxes. The barbs off the back of Jackson Reagan. Good block by Jackson Reagan. Didn't know much about it, turned his back slide, but good blook right place, right time. Little push from Jordan Morris, sway and going to the assistant referee. Jordan Morris assistant kind of asking why, as he should, but it's three yards away.

Speaker 3

Referee.

Speaker 9

Assistant referee saw something and come not till Jordan Morris didn't see the referee as he's decked out.

Speaker 3

In all pink right in front of him, very pink. You know, I don't think that was a foul. Jordan Morris is a big, strong eye.

Speaker 4

He got a similar play, as is the center back, as is the center back, and I think it was just Jordan got the a little bit of muscle wanted it a little bit of.

Speaker 3

A soft call in my opinion, that's a couple of we've seen tonight.

Speaker 9

Good play by Alex rolld On wriggles free clay and picks in the book. Two San Jose players bulldos down the line here comes Georgie Rodriguez in front of him, and Georgie think of it. The CD does a little step over inside the box shrugs off. I think it was your all goes in clear by San Jose, But Georgie showed both power pay strength as the final delivery wasn't point there because I was reed. Can he knocking through the legs he does against dragged down? We'll see

the referee Astra doesn't give any foul. Fans don't like that near the brewing jumps back up again, knocked it through the legs of a car po. No found given by the referee, and Jordan Morris again comes back. I'll see if the referee as it were Jordan, that's a couple of times. Now he's a lot fired up, frustrated. There's a little minor nudge in the back of Hodriguez.

Speaker 4

And nah, it's been an inconsistency, quite a bit of inconsistency because the rebaker, whiting one, maybe the he thought he couldn't get to the ball, but he's certainly held back and Jordan's just coming in hard but not flagrant fowl by any means. So let's hope this doesn't affect the game too much, or that, or that he's upset with a player and so he's starting to lean against Seattle.

Speaker 9

Jackson Mule strikes it from this and this sign to the Fosside picks up my Espinosa gets it back again. Macapo good block by Knew who forces red bike wanting up to close the ball down sound as ten men behind the ball picked up well by russ I could quick feet by Reed gives it away, was able to wriggle free.

Speaker 4

Well you said, Georgie showed a couple of things just their power pace. He absolutely put a shoulder into Jackson Mule again, not a foul, was not called a towel That absolutely sent a mule to the ground.

Speaker 3

He could be a lot of fun as he really hones his craft as a Wow.

Speaker 9

It comes Pale Greene, the gold scorer for San Jose, tries a little given go with Budhi did well boying. The Sounders invention that this was the Heritage Cup starts in two thousand and nine. The first game the Heritage Cup was a two yell win by the Sounders. Goalscorers have friends and.

Speaker 27

Teammates on the broadcast team bred Evans Steve Dakwani.

Speaker 3

That's great those two guys.

Speaker 4

Pleasure to work with them. Good to see them in the booth and still being so dog gone involved in the game in our community's anytime I see an event, I see one of those two guys there.

Speaker 3

Helping out young kids, or opening something, or giving a speech or leading a warm up of some kind. Do a great job. As former sound of players.

Speaker 9

Well, the Heritage Cup of Sound is leading that eight to seven, so they've won eight Sounders a seven, and if the sound has win today, that would be obviously one win each this season. And to complicate things even more, the tiebreakup most goals, Well, Sounders got two down there, they get two up here. Santos they got three down there, got one up here, so they equal there. Let me see it most away goals, then I think that would

be the Sounders getting two down there. So if they would win that one, if for some reason somehow San Jose gets another here and the Sounders get another and they still win, then it goes to league points. So the Sounders win that one.

Speaker 3

Okay, So I'll test you on.

Speaker 9

That in about five minutes.

Speaker 4

I was hoping we get at some point to the diebreaker being an arm rustle between Ian Russell and Brian Schpetzell.

Speaker 9

Sounders continue to lead here in the sixty two goals to one. If you see Pitch lumanfields slight delay in proceedings as Buddha's getting taken care of by the medical staff, we'll see what they do. Looks like they're potentially making a change. They're lifting a jersey up to see what change it's gonna be. Buddha goes down to the deck. There won't be a two minute penalty for the medical

staff coming on. New rules is that if it's not a concussion or a yellow car defense and the medical staff have to come on, it's gonna be two minutes off the field. It looks like San Jose, you're gonna just make sure the Buddha's ready to go. They're gonna walk him off, and then it's like, go to be Paul Marie is gonna come on the field for Buddha.

So no delay in Marie coming on the field. So it's gonna be which just to see Buddha as a attacking player Marie Moore of a out wide defensively minded player. There's gonna be Beer who is gonna come on off the field, should say the young left back second game of the season for him, Paul Marie comes on and then it's gonna be a slight change in tweat because the Bobus is gonna go play up front. It's gonna be Albert Morales who's gonna come on the field. Signed

in January twenty twenty four. In the last three years with New York City FC and the other seventy games there maybe into MLS from Germany and Dusseldorf. So the experienced player comes on the middle of the park, shifts the b Oversea up and then you'll maybe up the line as well. It's gonna sit more than number ten. There's four to two three one formation that Santase continue to play.

Speaker 3

It a lot of changes for both teams in formation shape.

Speaker 4

So you wonder who's gonna get cohesive the quickest, who's going to be able to get a rhythm right away and then create opportunities.

Speaker 3

Lou defensively is going to.

Speaker 4

Stay compact and keep doing the job to keep the other team out of the goal. So both teams have quite a bit of change.

Speaker 9

What goes in behind right hand side towards Georgie whips it in towards the backstack on quite a loud Danielle. Easy grab for Danielle inside the six yard pooks. Morris is coming flashing in looking for his hatchick, of course, but game very much in the balance here here at lumen Field, Sound is leading by just one goal, two goals to one against bottom club San Jose at the Western Conference. A tough year for them. Again, they've not had a winning season if you believe this is twenty thirteen,

So continue to struggle. But here come the Sound is given away cheaply by Morris. Another couple of times did you pick up the refound just wide the mess in the back for San Jose? Jordan Morris pounce almost on the deflected clearance, finds the back of the net. There's gonna be a corner kick for the Sound as they lead to one.

Speaker 3

Good for Jordan.

Speaker 4

Morris didn't and gave up the ball on a ball intended for a rebaker. Whiting saw that the defender took a bit of a heavy touch and then just as you said, pounced right on top, almost got the goal.

Speaker 3

They've changed the cal from corner kitt to gold kit. Good for Jordan Morris, you know what. I like his energy, like his response on both of his goals.

Speaker 9

He looks fined up from some of the powers being given away. He's not really agreed with that.

Speaker 3

Sometimes usual for you, all right.

Speaker 9

Sometimes Brwian Schmitz talks about a little fire in the belly for Jordan Morrice does good things. So see if you can find that third goal his hatchet of the night.

Speaker 3

It's contagious too.

Speaker 4

When he took the penalty kick against the La Galaxy for the last goal of the game. I think everybody was excited to see him take the bull by the horns. And he is such a great kid. But you want to see that fire. Not but he's a great kid. You also want to see that fire heat. And I love his responses tonight, disagreeing with the calls battling.

Speaker 9

Here, Jordan Morrice holds it up well. He picks out and us his experience to kind of push away Mooney. He sounds have possession of far left hand side to be bigawhite. He just skips him off the left hand side. Third white Furt finds bar against the back pressure by Yule. Another efficient game from Vargas he enrolled on have not been called upon too much, just done their job, hit the ball, moving, won the ball when needed. It's gonna a free kick for the sounderst Do you.

Speaker 4

Think it's all the goals that he's scoring that he's starting to feel it a little bit and start, you know, being a little more aggressive. Do you think that's given him a little more confidence Jordan Morris.

Speaker 9

Well, he has to play the number nine. Of course, he started the season at nine, then he shifted out to the left. Have success there, of course he's always done. But he's really trying to hammer down that number nine spot. And you know, if you're going to play against big upleague center of action, catter the bit of a mean street once in a while. And it'll be interesting to see how Jordan kind of evolves his game. He's always been about power and strength and dynamic play, but at

some point each does catch up with you. And he's what he's doing now, he's finding himself inside the boxes. He showed today to be elusive, be a finisher inside the eighteen yard box and it's a really good evolution I think in his game.

Speaker 3

As well, and quality under pressure right, sometimes a younger player will rush that and we'll be up in the stands behind the goal. And instead both those goals, those are easy to miss, and he smashed both of them low and hard. We'll keep red no chance.

Speaker 9

Refree kicked four Rusnick. We're gonna throw down to Michelle. In just a short minute after this free kick for the Sounds, can they find a way to get that third goal? Seventy fifth minute sound As leading just by that single goal two goals to one against San Jose. Got a chance free kick Sounders left. This could be an in stringer with the right foot. Referee just directing players inside the box. The Sounders just hold the top

of the six looking for a bit of space. All comes in by Rusnick, headed up and a way by Mooney is Rosneck wanders off over there. We're gonna throw down to Michelle.

Speaker 15

Yes, thank you Danny.

Speaker 19

As you guys are talking about Jordan Morris there, I just wanted to add in this little nugget that we do know that he's had two goals on the night tonight. Hopefully there's still some more to come, but that brings his total to thirteen goals this Major League soccer season, which is a new single season record for Jordan previously it was twelve gold that was his rookie year, and if you think about it, we've still got several more matches to come, so I could get even higher.

Speaker 9

Thanks Michelle, Ball comes in Jackson Reagan another chance, just heads it out and Jackson Yule uses all his experience just kind of brushes him aside.

Speaker 3

Fatherhood been good for Jordan Morris.

Speaker 9

I have a little probably go away a little bite because he's probably tired.

Speaker 3

Figure.

Speaker 9

Yeah, of course I reverio. Michelle is as a new mother as well and knows those days maybe a bit more, a bit more sleep these days, it's going to sell down. My mother once said to me, she said, as soon as your first baby is born, you'll never sleep well again for one reason or the other.

Speaker 3

That's great.

Speaker 9

It comes San Jose, Jackson Yule on the field. Club captain didn't get the start today, but it's gonna slot into that number ten spot and they're gonna try and find himself back in the game. Sound is just dropping back, leven men behind the ball defending their lead. Cround a little quiet right now, just games found a bit of a lull SOS need to pick up the energy again. We'll see a Brian Schmantz to make some substitutions to try and liven things up. We love you get some

fresh legs on and pointing down. Lookdown. There's a couple of changes being made, and it's like atensio. Danny Labor's getting ready, pretty big whiteing steps forward and tries.

Speaker 3

To win the ball.

Speaker 9

A free course of foul on Reed spoke in the during the weeks of the press after his performance against Sporting KC. Got in a yellow card against Sporting KC in that first half and managed to play with the maturity through the rest of that game. Didn't get another yellow card. Spoke about that that pleased him, the ability to play through a yellow card as a defender. And we'll get caught out because all gets clipped by Hodriguez.

Heady Clivoy, gave up, flicked up and away boy Alex Roldan brought down by Hello Greeney and that's uh gonna be a hamp bole on the goal scorer of the number nine, Forten Jose.

Speaker 3

Yeah, reading Baker Whiting right there, you're right, not getting a second yellow very important right there. A little bit over zealous going in, you know, with with fourteen to fifteen minutes to go in.

Speaker 4

This game with stoppage, you don't want to give away any unnecessary fouls.

Speaker 3

Give San Jose an opportunity get numbers in the box. So he's still learning. You still got to know what he can get away with, what he can't get away with.

Speaker 9

Well, this call provited. Audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express

written consent of Major League Soccer. As that bull bounced around top of the box, podcast has it, flicks it to Georgie, takes a step, finds the ball, tell the boxes Christian well Don choice to find the bottom court I bought well by Hodriguez, up and away, finds a foot of that fast side the left, a little skip around the corner by read Baker, Whitey's being able to connect to bark As hope clear by Hella Greno. Sounders have it fast side and left with Reed Sounder's agents

hanging on by a thread. Right now as Sounders trying to find that third goal headed clear by Marie, picked up by Georgie, flicked around the corner. Good play by Georgie. Playing with all sorts of confidence slips the heels of Marie to try to turn the corner. Big smile on his face. We could even see from up here in the booth. It just plays with so much joy.

Speaker 3

Yes he does.

Speaker 4

I mean that was a great little play, made something out of nothing, a little flick over the head that was really his only option. And then as the speed to go catch the ball the previous play beats the player on the dribble on the right side of the box. And then as the wherewithal that collect himself for a split second and find Christian mold On at the edge

of the box. Not just cross the ball to get the cross in, but there's a little bit of quality and Christian gets a good look at the goal, but it's blocked by a San Jose defender.

Speaker 3

Georgie is a fun player to watch.

Speaker 4

It's exciting time right now with the Sounders at this point in the season, now this much depth and different kinds of players.

Speaker 3

They do different things.

Speaker 9

I think that's it, right, different types of players. Georgia is a very different play in Phila Vega. Of course, the problems for the defenders in a very different way. He said, A good plumb to have for a head coach right now is it can change the lineups and can bring players off the bench. And of course we still haven't seen Brewidz eight goals this year this year continues to do the leading goal scorer in Amblest, but Jordan Morris is hot on his heels. Eighty three total

goals for Jordan Morris eight to six. Brewis Diz's only a chance for Jordan's surpass. Brewis Diz is the all time leading goal scorer for the Sounders, who has a little little jake when contains the balls. If all goes back to Stephan Fry in the Sounders goal well sound as found of Sounders FC scores. Anytime after the eighteenth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free lacic surgery from Sharp Vision Modern lacy can lens.

Sign up today at sounders FC dot com slash laser focus. Eighty first minute Sounders leading to one against San Jose. Score remains like this, Sounders will pick up the Heritage Cup as well as three points. Tonight we said we'd get some of those results through the Western Conference. Let's get you those real sol.

Speaker 27

Lake three two winners against Dallas Houston Dynamo one to one against Vancouver, two teams the Sounders will play in the coming weeks.

Speaker 9

Morn in Kansas It's sport in Kansas City. Big four to one win against Colorado, Colorado being another team that Sounders will play away from home before the end of the season. Big win for Peter, an easy team after coming in to Seattle and losing two nil, and thinks their hopes alive. Minnesota wants Cincinnati too, so they win for an Eastern Conference team against the Western Conference team, the Minnesota United. And then we looked down Portland Timbers

leading Galaxy three goals to two. So a big result for the Timbers. Right now down in Portland, there's lafc one, Austin one, Rossneck comes off the field, Fargas comes off the field. It's gonna be intensio and Labor coming on. Labor will go like to like switch for Rossneck has been playing a more advanced position and that number ten TENSI older a lightful like switch for Bargas will sit alongside Christian rolled on. Then Pellegrino comes off. I thinks Tommy Thompson comes on for San Jose.

Speaker 3

These are important moments.

Speaker 4

There's nine minutes to go in this game and had a little bit of stoppage time in there, and Seattle's got to really make sure they're clinical and everything they do, especially on the defensive side.

Speaker 3

You can't give anything up.

Speaker 4

Yes, you won another goal, for sure, but at this moment it's all about keeping San josea one goal for this game.

Speaker 9

Or goes into new It just nail the line finds labor for his first touch. It's so well in Prance's player Wins has talked about balks knocked down the line. It's control by Mooney. Here comes with Baker Whites and plays across to Georgie flex the ball, don't step over towards the headline would have gone down. We've seen that before. I mean it was pauland Timbers when a certain reed then could have gone down to get that p K

Georgie in then she could have dragged his foot. He's an honest player, honest player like that too, but could have been a PK maybe naive, maybe right.

Speaker 3

He did so well to get by outside back and he did get a little bit of contact. But I love that about Georgie.

Speaker 4

He is an honest player and he's so wrong He's not just gonna fold like a playing card.

Speaker 3

But that is the second time we've seen where he could have drawn up betterly.

Speaker 9

The bob Sea has it a middle of the pots, rolls about the moony and and just miscontrolled it a moment Ago allows really big Kawhiting to step in. When the ball played out to Georgie, bynch Metzi will love the fact that's outside Fax now a stepping forward and Georgie is getting involved. He's always talked about getting four players inside the box. Head comes Oftensia, driving forward inside the box. Jordano is looking for his Intensio scuffs his

short wide. It's the outside netting goal kick for San Jose. Remains Sounders to San Jose. One but a chance. Pete viewing for the Sounders on the break.

Speaker 4

Well, I like Paul Rothrock on the first app going down the left side. Now it's Josh Atensio's chance to go fifty yards from the fifty yard line, all the way down the line.

Speaker 3

Cut inside the box.

Speaker 4

Yeah, Jordan Morris on a dead sprint and Georgie chose to go to the goal Nedding Unfortunately, a great little run from Josh Atencio.

Speaker 9

The Sounders are back under the archers of Lumenfield to take on Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, September twenty eighth at seven thirty pm Pacific. Watch the match via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on nine to fifty KJR AM and l RA thirteen sixty am. The prominent Swedish pre match show starts at seven pm. But before we get to that game, tonight's game is vital for the Sounders. See one more change for Brian Schmidt to John fan Bell getting ready to

come on, probably to lock things down. See if new who comes off? Is that a good runout and coming back from international duty, Sounds look at to see this one out. Three big points will shift them right up in those standings right now. They went from third based on some results happening around the league, dropping down to fourth now, but fourth this is certainly a place they

want to be. Top four home games see LAFC can hold on to some kind of result right now, they've jumped above the Sounders both a forty nine points light difference in LFC, have a fourteen goal goal difference and forty positive goals goal difference sounded of twelve. So LFC currently in a tie with US in one one. Referee, you're just holding up play, allowing Jonathan Bell to come on. We'll see what the change is gonna be. New Who looking across sheepishly and yeah, it's like knew Who's gonna

just walk off the field. Yeah, it gives the applause to the fans. We're gonna walk up on the far side. Jonathan Bell will come on like flying switch. Jonathan Bell certainly more defensively minded play in some ways in terms of going up the field. Who Lights have those forays up the tacking half Johnathan Bell. I imagine Peter's direction will be sit, look this down, let's getting three points.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I would agree with that.

Speaker 4

And we saw they'll come in against Kansas City and do a terrific job. So that gets him another opportunity. And it's a great example of the depth. And here it is, you know, just fresh legs coming in for new Who and I want a luxury.

Speaker 9

To have this or goes top to Georgie. The bounce just doesn't help it, but he managed to pick it up. Hey, Jeordian Morris on a hat trick?

Speaker 27

Can he find it with his hight foot saved by Danny l I think cleared by the San Jose back line, well played by Georgie.

Speaker 9

We'll bound stuff. Almost lost it on the bounce Paice to get his body two ballom player found Jordan Morris in a good safe denies Jordan the hat trick.

Speaker 3

Terrific from Georgie to win the ball back. And I'm sure Jordan Morris would love the quality of ball that he gave. Put it on a plate for Jordan.

Speaker 9

What goes in behind the back line cleaned up well by Yamo. Sound is just holding onto this lead right now to to one against San Jose. So three and a half minutes of regular time to go. We'll see all the referee adds on. It was three minutes in the first half. Not much to add on. Whoulda went

down for a bit of an injury. Not much apart from that bought those towards the endline's near side, the left to esperinosm to Marie Good defended by Alex Roldan clatters off the advertising hoardings chance for San Jose to maybe throwing a long throw here. All the hands of Marie goes short to Espinosa, gets it back close down by Georgie and then behind the wall for the Sounders. Jordan Morris, the only loan player, continues to play so many minutes. Jordan who was a player that would often

be protected through these games. But two games in three days ish and Jordan Morris looks like he's gonna play another ninety here. So good.

Speaker 3

It's impressive to me.

Speaker 4

You know, during COVID they did try to rest Jordan by bit and there was a time where Jordan went to the coaches and said, I don't want to be taken out. He's got type one diabetes. We all know that, and you think that might affect his ability to go ninety minutes, you know, on a Sunday and then again on a on a Wednesday. But he proved himself to the coaches a few years ago that he wants to go to the ninety minutes.

Speaker 3

He's tough enough to do it, and I think it helps him.

Speaker 4

As a player. It gives him more confidence. He's not looking over his shoulder to see if he's coming off at the sixtieth minute.

Speaker 9

Well, he's also on a hat trick, So you're Brian Schmitz's got ten days to rest. Yeah, I'm sure he'll get a pro day or two in the next couple of days to recoup. Sure, Brian will give his team a couple of days off, he said. September twenty, eighth week from Saturday, the team comes back to Lumanfield Place Houston, who were in and around the Sounders. Houston's sitting on forty five points right now in seventh spots. Sounders as it stands right now sitting in fourth on forty nine points.

They continue to be put the Western Conference seats. Well gose Marie fights the back of the net. It was a cross by a bobase call out the Sounders back line, and that's a horror show about there for the Sounders. They concede here in the final minutes of the game, Sounders to santose two.

Speaker 3

Oh, that's difficult. Brian Schveetzer came flying off the bench.

Speaker 4

Alex Rodon slapped his hands to his hips right after that. Great run from Marie, great ball from Bobac from the corner. You can't switch off with any MLS team to regardless of whether they are at the top of the table or just in Jose at the bottom of the table.

Speaker 3

So that is a tough bill to swallow.

Speaker 9

Two minutes to go, well, that's gonna change things for the Sounders. They'll drop a couple of spots at least unless they can find away, unless they can find a way back here. And we talked about it that San Jose would just hang around. Sounders look comfortable, But all it takes at this level is just a moment indecision at a moment positive played by the opposition, and all of a sudden, most unlikely candidate of them all, Paul Marie, the outside left player, found himself six yards out. He's

knocked in the bond corner of the goal. Five minutes of any time for the Sounders to find a winning goal. It was three to two down in San Jose. It's two to two here tonight. Can the Sounders find a way to get that third goal and create some more lumin field magic? Seen it many times before, This would be a time to find that little bit of quality in these final minutes. The ball gets launched long, Josh Attensio willing runners always is gonna run down the line.

Rodriguez does a good job, just times the ball and I'm not sure if any year Russell like his central defense to do that because flocks the ball over the top, giving away cheaply by Hodriguez, bundled into my labor and I want to talk about players doing silly things, but hope Regez winning the ball doing so well, then trying to scoop the ball up and over, I think with Waldan eventually sounded to when it stopped. Start the game quickly with a short free kick. Here goes to Georgie

right hand side, twelve yards from the end line. Though step over comes short, goes into the middle of the park to Christian Waldon. Back to Labor the sam He's gonna.

Speaker 27

Trigg it in great delivery, but on the back of it almost found the back post.

Speaker 9

It was Jamar okay crashing in really wonderful delivery by Labor just swung the ball in perfectly towards that back stick, and it was Yamar and crashing in on the back posts. Wasn't able to connect with the ball, and Danielle was able to pick it up. And he has the ball in his hands.

Speaker 4

Terrific ball and read Baker Whiting just a half step off there. Gamar does exactly what he's supposed to do. Nodded back across. Daniel comes right off the line. There's still something in this team.

Speaker 3

I feel it.

Speaker 9

There comes the sound as Jordan Morrice fast side the left, just skip by Cupo towards the end Line's right foot clips it in. Odriguez picks it up. There's his lines to roll down twenty yards from Gold just skips by the Morales goes around the corner, tries to find a slight bit of space system revulation near side. Oh sure he saw that all the way from this side of the fields the far side. But he calls a goal kick for San Jose. Two minutes of the five gone

at a time. Sounders to San Jose two and this score thing is presented by provident Swedish. Don't leave us at the end of the game, Jackson feltz. We'll be back to break it all down. Disappointing Gold to conceit quite the for the Sounders. It looked like they'd wrapped up three points. It's gonna be a sour taste for Brian Schmitzer and his men. And you always want as a player, Pete to get back on the field and

try and put that right to bed. Now they've got to sit there and dwell in it for ten days until the next game.

Speaker 3

Yeah, very tough.

Speaker 4

And you're losing against a team that is already out of the playoffs. Now that's a little more salt in the wound. And San Jose is happy to delay this and take the one point. It's a point of pride more than anything.

Speaker 9

That's a point of pride, and it's also going to give them a Heritage Cup.

Speaker 2

There you go.

Speaker 9

So the Sounders here in the final minutes of the game, can they find some people? Goes back to Josh a tense your pressure from Jackson, your little step over game orange support goes back to Yamark, go square into Labor Da makes the slasher running behind doesn't kind of it's tend to goes toward Jordan Morris hopeful cross, but he's a delivery played by the back line of San Jose, picked up by Jackson Reagan to Christian roll Don. Sounders

pushing and pressing, trying to find that opening. So as they hold in the top of their box right now, five men along the eighteen yard box defending their goal. We'll flick around the court to Jordan Mars Boyt. Labor was out left to read, whips it in with his left foot. Let's a way by Jackson. You'll strike by Yama And that was speculative, high and wide flies into the Emerald City supporters. Could be a goalkick for Sanders the remains two two minutes ago.

Speaker 3

Some good build up there from the Sounders.

Speaker 4

Unfortunate to see that one go off Omas Androti's foot and wide.

Speaker 3

So Seetle might have one more chance.

Speaker 4

That Daniel's more than happy as a goalkeeper to go as slow as he possibly can.

Speaker 9

What's up?

Speaker 3

The referee adds a little bit from some of us.

Speaker 9

We've seen it, Jim Wares. I've seen that Jimmy try hit the wall as the center back from distance in his days and he clattered up the crossbar. Yeah, m or saw a bit of that maybe in the highlight reel. The Samon's fine something. Just the final seconds to go

as as as you're gonna see this one. As Pete three mentioned three hasn't called again, he comes attention, but of the park drives forward that call of the boxes read to the salmons, find one more good opportunity, needs to put the ball in the box, but takes by five minutes at a time. What comes in by bell head it clear by Hodriguez and that is that referee blows the whistle, brings this game to an end for Ian Russell as he high vives his coaching staff from

players on the bench. Local player grew up in the Seattle area, played the U dub. It's a really good result for his team. Brian Schwetz is gonna be very disappointed.

Speaker 4

Your final thoughts, Yeah, Ian Russell's gonna be thrilled. He's gonna go against a guy who I'm sure he feels is an icon in the community, and I'm sure he's really excited to play against Brian Spetzer and his hometown team, and he is gonna be thrilled to come back from two to one down. Brian Schmittzer is gonna be very, very disappointed. It'll be a very quiet locker room. And as you say, it's ten days now before the next

opportunity to correct that great opportunity. Let go for Seattle to get the three points, unfortunately down to the one. You can see the disappointment on all the players' faces.

Speaker 9

Yep.

Speaker 2

For the goals.

Speaker 9

Pelaguino in the fifteenth minute for San Jose started off the game for santose Well went up one nil. Then it was a quick fire of response by the sound as Jordan Morris in the twenty first and the thirty ninth minute put the Sounder is up to one the death it was Paul Marie in the eighty ninth minute tied it up for San jose Well. Thanks for everyone

It's Sounders to Santos Earthquakes two.

Speaker 2

It's a final from a littming field. Your Sounders and San Jose will unfortunately share the points tonight. It is a final of two to two after an eighty ninth minute goal from the Earthquakes take two points away from Seattle. Jordan Morris scoring two goals though let's head down on the field. He's with Michelle Luck, Thank you Jackson, Jordan.

Speaker 19

Obviously not the finish that you guys wanted here tonight, but plenty of beautiful bright spots in this one.

Speaker 15

How would you evaluate your team's performance, Yeah.

Speaker 2

It's it's frustrating.

Speaker 31

I thought we started really slow, obviously, gave them the goal, and then to not be able to to We responded well, getting two goals, but to not be able to close out the game. I didn't think the second half was great from us. So we got to clean things up and we have a little bit of time to do that before the next game.

Speaker 19

So to that point, only four matches left in this regular season. What does this squad need to do to put themselves in the best position possible as you look ahead to the postseason.

Speaker 31

Just keep winning games. I mean it's really tight right now. We'll see how some of the other results went, but yeah, it's tight right now. I think we have two home, two away left, so all against teams that are are fighting for playoff spots, so those all be massive games. I think we need to be better closing out games,

like like we you know showed tonight. It wasn't wasn't quite good enough in that aspect, but like you said, there were some bright spots too, and you know, we got to we just got to learn from the mistakes that we had.

Speaker 15

Next match isn't for ten days?

Speaker 19

A little bit of a break right now, which is a little kind of unusual at this point of the season. And never the timing of this never was what you want it to be after a match that finished like it did tonight. But what do you think this group will be able to do with that time? Do you think the rest will be more important? Do you think it's fine tuning certain things? What do you think this focus should be.

Speaker 2

I got a bow real quick for Yeah, I think it's rest.

Speaker 31

We've had a lot of games, so some some rest for sure, But then you have fine tuning the things that we'll watch this game and you know, figure out what we need to get better at. And but I think we'll have a couple of days off to rest the bodies and then and then get back to work.

Speaker 19

Now, Jordan, I know you'd be the first person to say you wish we were standing here talking about three points that were picked up tonight. But there was a huge milestone hit tonight. Thirteen goals in the regular season for you. You finished the two goals for the Sounders tonight.

That is a new single season record for you. What is it about this season, your play that is continuing to evolve the way it has been, and you just really continuing to be this incredible player we're seeing match after match.

Speaker 31

Yeah, I think more extended time playing at the nine. You know, obviously, you know, you learn those little movements and those little intricacies of the position. Those were both kind of quote unquote typical strikers goals to you know, typical nine goals. That are something that I've wanted to work on as I continue to grow it at that position.

Speaker 2

You know, obviously a.

Speaker 31

Lot of my goals come from stretching teams getting in behind, but trying to add that into my game being better in the box, and you know, I was glad I was able to show that a bit tonight. But obviously play with confidence helps, and I think just getting an extended run at one position, really being able to focus all season on just getting better.

Speaker 9

At that at that spot.

Speaker 19

Well, again, congratulations on hitting that mark for you personally, thank you as always for the time. Enjoy these next couple of days off and we look forward to seeing the rest of the season.

Speaker 2

Thank you, Thank you, appreciate it. Jackson Back to you, Thanks Michelle, and thanks to Jordan down there. Congrats to him for is now twelfth and thirteenth goals on the season. Of course, Tonight's Toyota Man of the Match is Jordan Morris. Your local Toylet dealers are proud to present tonight's Man of the match. So welcome into the postmatch show, Jackson Feltz and Pete Fewing here for the next twenty minutes

or so to talk about this really unfortunate result. I think that you know, it's it's the cliche that, you know, some losses, some draws feel like losses, and some draws feel like wins. This one absolutely feels like a loss, and I'm sure Brian Schmitzer will say the same. And you know that Jordan Morris from his attitude there with Michelle,

certainly feels the same. Pete viewing where you have this match leading two to one, you're able to, you know, come back from going one nothing down early and then it's an eighty ninth minute goal where it's just you know, unfortunately a couple of defenders losing their guys. Cross comes in and it goes into the back of the net for San Jose off the foot of Paul Marie, and it's just it's Pete. There's no other feeling that I know Sounder fans out there feeling the same right now.

This feels like a loss, and against the last place team in the entire league, who are last placed by a very very large margin. This one really stings.

Speaker 3

It does.

Speaker 4

And if you flip it all around and Seattle scores in the eighty ninth minute, we're excited that we got the one nothing to win and sure or to two ties.

Speaker 2

We're thankful that we would have taken.

Speaker 3

It does feel, as you.

Speaker 4

Say, like a loss because Seattle did have the chances that they had.

Speaker 3

And kudos for that last goal.

Speaker 4

Bobasees ball into Marie, great run from an outside left back who believes the ball is going to get there, and he makes that sixty yard run and tucks it in the back of the net.

Speaker 3

Try had no chance on that one whatsoever.

Speaker 4

And uh, you know, here's a guy that sounds very dejected in Jordan Morris, and he's just scored two goals and he's broken his single season record. But that's what it is, right that the team did not want to give that one up. Brian Schmitzer's you know, jumps off the bench. She slaps his hands against his hips, and you know he's frustrated that we've given it up.

Speaker 3

Everybody's frustrated.

Speaker 4

Alishchildon was frustrated he gave it up, and you know, Jordan had a good chance to go of three to one.

Speaker 3

You know, it is the lesson that this team knows. They know the lesson and that is that.

Speaker 4

When you've got a two to one lead, you got to get one more just to really bury a team and take.

Speaker 3

Away all their hope.

Speaker 4

Kudos to Ian Russell's team, you know, to come back and stay in the game. You're right there last place, but they got a lot of pride in their programs.

Speaker 3

So that's a tough one.

Speaker 4

Now they've got, you know, point wise, you know, we're in fifth place now, but we're at forty seven. Colorado's at forty seven. The one dilemmas, we're at thirty games, ColorOS twenty nine.

Speaker 2

Lafc Oh, look at what those two points would have done, because you look at you look at the table and what those two points could have done for Seattle to emphasis to get a top four seed. And I know there's four games left. But like those two points, I know one million percent. I know, you know, when we're talking at the end of decision day, we're gonna look back at the table, no matter what it looks like and say, God, those two points.

Speaker 3

Yeah, no question.

Speaker 4

And then the next ones between Houston, Vancouver, Color Portland, those are all teams that are in the mix and in the hunt as well, so everybody has something to play for. Seattle definitely wants to be top four so that they can host tournament games. And you know, now we've got a ten day break, and that is a good thing.

Speaker 3

I think Jordan said it.

Speaker 4

You know that the team could use a bit of rest. That we had an eight game, eight day, three game window just recently. So but that's a tough one. And again for I had, there's nothing he could have done on that goal. So but you want to get that, you want to get that third goal just to bury teams.

Speaker 3

We've got to find a way to manufacture that somehow.

Speaker 2

I want to talk about the second half coming out because it was a second half. Jordan said it was a poor second half, and I think that that he's absolutely right. We'll talk about exactly why this team wasn't able to get that third goal because it was there for him. So we have a lot to get to. I'll quickly tell you that Sounders FC Soccer is presented

by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. We'll have more coming up next on the postmatch show following a Sounders to draw with San Jose where they scored in the eighty ninth minute to equalize here in Seattle Tide. We'll have more next on Sports Radio nine to fifty.

Speaker 2

Welcome back to the postmatch show where I really thought we were gonna be here in taking care of business right here. Unfortunately it is not because the Sounders couldn't take care of business in the final few minutes. San Jose get a late late eighty ninth minute equalizer to tie this match at two, and it ends to to as Seattle splits the points with what is the worst team in Major League Soccer. Unfortunately, tonight here at Luminfield, it is time for our Emerald Queen Casino Play of

the match. We gotta go Jordan Morris because Jordan Morris equal and set his new career high in goal marks with his twelfth and thirteenth goals here tonight. Our play of the match is number thirteen bull.

Speaker 9

To Johnny Ars, second goal the night for Jordah Morris. What a great time to score for the Soundest San Jose. We're not able to deal with the cross.

Speaker 27

Jordan Morris right time, right place, and that's his fifteenth regular season goal of the season.

Speaker 9

Sound As lead two goals to one.

Speaker 2

The Play of the match is presented by Emerald quin Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Thirteenth goal there for number thirteen, and it really did feel PDUs. He kind of stayed on throughout this whole match like number fourteen was there for him, and it felt like Jordan Morris was gonna get again another goal, whether it was him or not, honestly anybody else. There were so many chances

to score in the second half. And I guess I'll just ask you, you know, based on everything we saw in Jordan himself at the start of the postgame show with Michelle last segment, said he wasn't a good second half? Why wasn't a good second half?

Speaker 1

In your eyes?

Speaker 4

Well, I thought, you know, Paul Rothrock in the first half was terrific down the left hand side, but he only got the ball two maybe three times in the fifteen minutes he was on in the second half.

Speaker 3

And because they were dynamic.

Speaker 4

From you know, the left side and then the right side as well, we kind of lost that in the second half.

Speaker 3

So I think Seattle comes out halftime, they're up two to one, feeling good. They're they're ahead of the last.

Speaker 4

Place team, and I think some of it got stuck in their brain and they just they didn't. They were switched off at the beginning of the game that some of the players alluded to that in the first ten minutes and the of the second half maybe a little bit switched off as well and missed some opportunities to you'll put this one away again.

Speaker 3

A third goal would have just ended it right then and there.

Speaker 4

So Jordan Morris, you know, gosh, Georgian gave him a really nice ball. Jordan had a good touch and another good touch. Danielle came up with a big save coming off his line.

Speaker 3

Jordan did everything right on that one. I think we need when we.

Speaker 4

Got a hot hand or hot foot like Jordan, we got to keep getting him some service. So I think the wing play in the second half, especially down the Lae Tan side, wasn't the same. It wasn't as much and wasn't the same quality as we saw in the first half. Those two between dala Vega and Rothrock, they were so dynamic in that first half, putting San Jose on their heels quite a bit, but in the second half it was it wasn't quite the same level.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I want to switch gears in a second. Before we do, I'll say that Delta Airlines is probably donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders sc players this season through Ray Foundations one Mile, one Ball program. So I want to switch gears and ask you about the subs. This team does not play for another ten days. They play Houston coming up on September twenty eighth. They don't play this weekend, they don't play the middle of

next week. And listen. As a journalist, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't look into and question all things. And one of the things I question here is the fact that this team doesn't play for ten days. Peder de Levega and Paul Rothbrock come off the field in the sixty third minute. Obed Vargas and Albert Rusnak come off the field in the eighty second minute in a two to one game. I feel like taking off guys.

Speaker 3

A workhorse in Paul.

Speaker 2

Rothrock, a guy in Paedo dal Leveg who's gotten in his first career MLS assists today. Who is you know working to get integrated in the team. Obed Vargas, who we know is so good. Albert Rusnik twenty one goal contributions this year playing like a great designated player. I just listen. At the end of the day, I guess I am calling a little bit on Brian Schenzer and questioning a little bit of his decisions here and in

his coaching staff. Why are we taking off those four instrumental players in those type of moments in a two to one game when you don't play for ten days. I'm sorry, Brian, if you are listening, I'm sorry, but I am questioning why they're coming off that early.

Speaker 4

Well, he has a lot of faith in that first fifteen sixteen players, So for him sometimes.

Speaker 2

It's like for like, and it's Georgie reed ATENSI olive. Are the four players who came.

Speaker 3

On right, right, and so.

Speaker 4

And Georgie coming on I thought was a great spark and warranted more time. Having said, and I understand your question, but where that went in was from the left hand side to the center of the park, and it was deep in our box where the four defenders, who had had a pretty darn good game all game, kind of switched off for a moment. So I understand the comment. But he has a lot of faith that guys can close it out. And and by the way, he's going

to ask the same question of those players. Hey, if I put you on, I'm expecting you're going to do the work to close it out, help us get another goal. And and so, yes, Georgie's play warranted, in my opinion, more opportunity.

Speaker 3

He showed how dangerous he.

Speaker 4

Can be in the in the minutes that he had and then some players Brian might say, Okay, maybe I can't trust you to come in and close a game out.

Speaker 3

We need you to close the game out.

Speaker 4

And he's going to be very disappointed, and they'll be critical of the entire team, those who came on the field as subs. But then you know, all the way across the board, anybody was on the field and we gave away a thing. He's gonna be so disappointed, and the players are. You could see the body language of all the players as well, So I understand the comment and the team simply.

Speaker 3

You know, I think we've somewhat gotten over a hump, but I think.

Speaker 4

There's another hits a camel. We get another hump to go right to really to really get to the spot where we are. You know, you know, you know, the Italian national team twenty years ago, they score a goal. It's over right, They're gonna They're gonna win one nothing, and that's just the way it's gonna be. We're not there, and we need to get to that spot in the MLS where we can put a team away with a one nothing lead and hold onto it. And so I

think we dropped off on the offensive side. So that meant defensively, you know, we were I don't honestly, we weren't on our heels more that San Jose didn't have a lot of opportunities, but we did switch off for that one.

Speaker 3

Alex roll don mean, it was on the near post.

Speaker 4

And you could and he would you could see his frustration with himself that he that he let Marie get inside of him.

Speaker 2

So unusual where the first goal is on you know, a little bit of a combination of Steph being indecisive, but it's Christian rolled on boxing out when he didn't just kick it out. I mean, as I said in the halftime show, went in doubt kick it out.

Speaker 3

And he didn't, and and all just hung just it just just sat up there in the air.

Speaker 2

Christian tried to box out instead of just kicking it and and that that's the sixteenth minute goal and maybe he was waiting for Alex to come in and hit it. I don't know, but either way, it's it's the role Don's there, and it's the roll Dons where Christian loses Ebobas on the cross and Alex loses his Paul Marie

on the goal. And I mean, gosh, when was the last time we're looking at both roll Don brothers for both goals in in a disappointing It's just it never happens, and it's it's frustrating that it is the role Don's that we're looking at, you know, as as as the two goals for San Jose. It's it's very frustrating. But

you know, I agree with you. Georgie looked good. I just you know, when they added five minutes, I looked around the press box and I kind of said, God, it would be great to have Albert Rusnak on the field right now, and and not having a guy with twenty one goal contributions on the field at the end to try to split a two two tie. Was that as hard? It's a frustrating result, man, it just is. It's a two to two game between the Sounders and

Wrapping up the postmatch show here from Lumenfield, where the vibes are not as good as we thought they could be it's a two to two final with the Sounders in San Jose Earthquakes. As we've mentioned, the Earthquakes scored a goal in the eighty ninth minutes to equalize this match, and for the Sounders, that is dropping two points when it could have been a big three against what is San Jose, the worst team in Major League Soccer, and the Sounders might be looking at those two points when

it's all said and done. Four games left to go in the regular season. I'll quickly say that this season, when the Sounders win, you'll win a free mix chick in the next day, exclusively in the McDonald's app with any minimum two dollars. Purchase down on the McDonald's app today and check out the deals waiting for you. All right, So four matches left here in the regular season, two at home, two on the road. We will finish, of course,

decision Day October nineteenth with Portland. You have a couple of matches back to back on the road, Vancouver on Wednesday, October second, and then Colorado on Saturday, October fifth. But the next match for the Sounders, the first of those four, will come in ten days on Saturday, September twenty eighth, back here at lumen Field. It will be a seven o'clock Provident Swedish prematch show and a seven thirty kickoff

right here sports Radio ninety am. Also you can watch it in MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish language on l rayis thirteen sixty.

So P it's a you know, it's a it's a nice break for the Sounders and you know, coming off of a frustrating result, it's always that kind of that question of you know, I wonder if those guys wish they were playing this Saturday just to you know, get the taste out of their mouths, or if they are going to kind of embrace this chance to kind of you know, rehab the legs a little bit before the final four.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 4

I think they want to play a game, but I think their body needs a bit of a break, and I think the four games coming in because each of those four games are very important in the table and in the opportunity to host one of the playoff games.

Speaker 3

So I think they're going to take advantage of it.

Speaker 4

But I also think the message has been sent to the players, from the players to themselves, from the coaches to the players that listen, we.

Speaker 3

Cannot dilly deally. We've got to put teams away.

Speaker 4

We've got to be more clinical, We've got to be you know, more stringent and not give up goals. We've got to be tighter and and so they will come back. I think this rest is perfect timing for it. I think the ten days will grow the frustration a little bit, but then will get away with it, get away from it for a couple of days.

Speaker 3

But I think they'll come back saying, look now we know we know. Here's what we know. We know we can play, we know that we can score goals, we know that we are a good team.

Speaker 4

But we have to make sure that every game we play ninety minutes is completely focused, and that we play to our potential, and that we don't shut off at any time.

Speaker 3

Restarts crosses staying with your runners.

Speaker 4

So there's a valuable lesson in today's game, and there's now a valuable opportunity to get healthy and come back in ten days in Houston. I like the fact that it's a home game as well, so that closes out a three game homestand and hopefully then get three points.

Speaker 2

Oh Kaley Ryan our broadcast versus I wish we had a little bit more of vibes. Hey, Jordan Morris, thirteen goals. That's great, And I think you know, as you just say right there, this team can learn from this. They can take this memory, they can drive it forward. So in the playoffs when they're leading by one goal in the eighty ninth minute, they will use this. They will use it as motivationally, use it in their core memories,

and they will not let it happen again. So good that they got this out of the way now, I suppose, rather than the playoffs where they can learn from it and do better the next time. But unfortunately it is a two two draw for the Sounders, fifth place still in the Western Conference. Ten day break now before Houston comes up here back at LUMAN on September twenty eighth, we'll talk to you.

Speaker 16

Then.

Speaker 2

We'll also have Sounders Weekly one week from tonight over on ninety three point three kJ FM, So we'll talk to you in one week regarding the Sounders in that, have a good week, have a good weekend off everybody, and for right now, I want to thank all people with our broadcast tonight.
