Welcome to the Sounders FC Premat Show presented by Provident Swedish. Tonight, your Seattle Sounders FC face LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Finals of the MLS Cup. The Provident Swedish Premat Show starts.

Speaker 2

Now well tonight, your Seattle Sounders have the opportunity to make MLS Cup for a fifth time in franchise history. The Western Conference title is on the line. Just like in twenty nineteen, the Boys and Rave Green have headed down to Los Angeles to make it happen that year and last week the games came against LAFC. But tonight it's just a few miles south down in Carson, California at Digity Health spa Ards Park against the high flying

offensive power of the Galaxy. In one hundred and fifty short minutes, we will know if Seattle season has ended or if Seattle will be hosting MLS Cup against either Orlando City or more likely the New York Red Bulls, who right now are up won nothing with just a

couple minutes left in their Eastern Conference final. So with that stage set, welcome into the Sounders e FC pre Match Show presented by Providence Swedish Official Healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC Jackson Felts calenrow Pete viewing here for the pre match show before Danny Jackson and Brad Evans will have the call from Dignity Health Sports Park down

in Los Angeles and we get Sounders Galaxy. We have obviously a lot to talk about with this specific matchup, the tactics, the lineups involved, so much to go over with all of that.

Speaker 3

Before we get.

Speaker 2

There, we have to take just a moment to reflect on and talk about the Western Conference semifinal win that the Sounders got just a few miles north up there at BMO Stadium last week. Kellen, it was great to be down there in Los Angeles for that game. It was an electrifying extra time winning for the Sounders one hundred and ninth minute goal from Jordan Morris, and it was everything this club needed to get the momentum going into tonight.

Speaker 4

Well, they definitely needed to get that monkey off their back, which was LAFC was something that just they couldn't get that throughout the season and we all saw that. But it was a good win for them. They grinded it out. I mean we talked about it all air last time, it was all about sacrifice. Who's gonna be the one to lay it down and say, I'm just gonna make sure I do my job, I do it correctly, and then everyone else around me will will hopefully do theirs.

Speaker 5

Danny Jackson said that Fry has to make six saves and we have to score two goals. He said that before the game as we were walking around, and he was right. Stephen Fry came up with some massive saves. Jordan Morris's goal similar to one he had with Stanford in the NCAA Finals, just roofing the ball turn it's a great shot. He just punched the ball into the back of that. But everyone everyone played their best game

for Seattle and they couldn't make any mistakes. That team, like this team we're facing today, just had too many weapons. And as Kellen said, I mean that's what it was. First time in what eleven games that we got the wins. So yeah, that was just a tremendous win for Seattle and their tactics work. Brian Schweitzer did a great job. They couldn't hit the ball up and over the top leg they had when they were in Seattle, so the

tactics work. He went to five at the back and and now he's got another, you know, a puzzle to put together and we'll see how it goes again tonight. But they had that game, had to give them confidence to go back to Los Angeles because that was a massive win for him.

Speaker 2

Now be I know we were down there and we celebrated, you know, on the flight back and everything.

Speaker 3

I didn't know that it took.

Speaker 2

A week still plus to get your voice back from the celebrations.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened. Something, I got my hauls.

Speaker 2

But there's a lot of celebrating in LA and hopefully we get more tonight for sure, as we count you down to kickoff here as we are now just thirty five minutes away from kickoff at Dignity Health Sports Park, Sounders, LA Galaxy winner will host MLS Cup and it is official they will host the New York Red Bulls. They have won the Eastern Conference. The seventh seed in the East will be traveling either to LA or to Seattle

for MLS Cup one week from tonight. Well, I believe be a one o'clock kickoff, So we're hoping that one o'clock kickoff will be at loominfield. Next Saturday, Sounders are ninety minutes away from hosting MLS Cup again and getting back to their fifth overall. Listen, this is obviously such a massive, massive game tonight. We're done talking about last week.

It's time to move forward because there is a lot to break down with what Brian Schpenzer has to do with his starting lineup and what he is choosing to do with his starting lineup. So let's dig into it and get to the starting lineup. It is, of course Stephen Fryan goal. We're going back to the four to two three one. We had that kind of back three slash back five last week against LAFC.

Speaker 3

This is shifting back to a back four with new who at.

Speaker 2

The left back spot, Alex Roldan at right back, Jackson Reagan is your left center back, and it's Nathan as your right center back. I will quickly note Jamar Gomez Andrade is on the bench for the Sounders, but he is not starting. It is Nathan who came off the bench against LAFC. It's Christian Roldan holding next to Obed Vargas. That duo has been excellent all year. Georgi Manoongu gets the start on the left wing. Albert Rusnak of course

gets the start at central attacking midfield. Pedro d Loovega on the right. We know that he and Georgie may flip sides at times. Jordan Morris of course up top. So Kellen Rowe. The question is going back to the four two three one and Nathan coming in for Yamar, Georgie coming in for Paul Rothrock who's all out due to a quad injury. Do you like the choices? Are these the right choices for the Sounders in the West Final?

Speaker 4

Well, heck, we could talk about it. All we want is it's the choices that we were made and these guys know how to play. But they've been through a full season now. Whether it's Nathan who was played a handful of games this year, whether it was Georgie who's played a handful of games this year, they know they play with these guys every day. So whoever they're going to put out there is going to do the job that they need to do. And that's the focus of

each player as they come in. Both players that are on the field and the players are going to come onto the field, and you look at this bench and you look at the style and you're thinking, who else do we kind of put in? The injuries are not great for us, obviously, the addition of Yamar on that list of kind of questionable with that quad or or what he has. But it's it was really good for them to step up in LAFC. I think Jonathan Bell

did incredible job. Nathan when he got put in, I think, which is why they gave him the nod today over and injured or dealing with something Yamar. But then at Rebaker Whiting as well. And so when you lose some one like a Rebaker Whiting who did the work up and down that flank, how your back five almost changes of can we still do that? Do we have the personnel to do that? And so this four two three one is one that every single one of these guys knows the back of your hand. You know how to press,

you know where the ball is going to go. You know when when one defender steps up the other guy's run into it's a it's a comfortable thing for them. It's just now it's again, I think we're going to talk about it again, Coach. It's that sacrifice of these La Galaxy has one of the best, if not the best attack in the MLS and they've shown it week in week out, especially in this playoff run, just dominating

teams by scoring five six goals at a time. And so I think they're up in the second now and all time in playoff goals already already, right, they've won and maybe two games left. That's incredible, So they've got to have the sacrifice.

Speaker 5

Fifteen goals in a playoff run is quite impressive in what four games? Yes, yes, and that was Vancouver was done in two games.

Speaker 2

Right now three games games games?

Speaker 5

Yeah, So they've done great. And I asked you Kellen a moment ago, have you ever played against a team that has four players in the starting lineup that have double digits?

Speaker 6

Right?

Speaker 5

And they it's an unbelievable team. So we know what we have to your question about the lineup. I don't think Brian Schpitzer really had too many options. I think he put his best eleven out. This is Georgie's fourth start, Pedro de la Vega's tenth start. They've done a good job. Everybody did their their part last week. The question is can they go ninety minutes that's and Brian will I think, keep them on as long as he can, but he does have some experience on the bench that he may

be able to draw on. I don't know where Gomez Andrade is as far as his health. Can come in and give us twenty minutes at the end, but can Nathan go ninety minutes? Holy cow? I mean he he did very well, but he was in for about twenty.

Speaker 2

I want to talk a moment about Nathan, but you mentioned the health, and quickly we'll dive into the Providence Swedish team health report, which is of course, as always presented by Providence Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders fc SO out Paul Rothrock with the quad, Danny Mazowski with the quad. Questionable, coming in was Readbaker Whiting with the calf. He's obviously out. Jamar Gomez Androde questionable with a hamstring.

He is on the bench tonight. But Nathan, you know, I want to rewind back about like eleven, you know, ten months and when the team signed Jonathan Bell, I believe it was out out of a draft, and then they signed him to a contract, and then Nathan was obviously signed.

Speaker 3

I mean it's just a couple of years ago.

Speaker 2

Nathan was an outstanding center back with the San Jose earthquakes, and Nathan was kind of brought in. I think a lot of people looked at it as all right, the hierarchy is, you know, you got we got Gomez Andrade, we got Jackson Reagan, and then Nathan because he's coming off of injury, he's previously well established.

Speaker 3

He's the third guy. Bell's the fourth guy.

Speaker 2

Bell, over the course of the season showed all you know, okay, he is showing subcessor. But you go back a couple of years and it's Nathan. I mean, Callen, I'm sure you faced him a couple of times. It's Nathan the guy that gets the start tonight, and we haven't seen much of him, but he brings a long career into this game. He this moment isn't isn't too big for a guy who's been around these MLS circles for a long time.

Speaker 4

No, and he's obviously had a great career and there's a reason they brought him in. And like you said, there is a hierarchy. There is a starter and a guy coming in. If if something happens like it is now with the amar Androde and look, Nathan is a is a quality player and he showed it. But it's always that mentality and something that Brian Spencer really puts in is that next man up, and so everyone knows if you get that chance, it's the next man up.

And Nathan took it in LAFC last weekend, playing incredible. I think he won every single header against Kai Kamara, who is probably the best in the air I've ever seen. And then he obviously gets the nod today and so it's the next man up. And that's always been the philosophy of Brian and I, you know, I always credit for him. And something else he always says is that, you know, you talked about the ninety minutes coach, and I don't think. I don't think everyone will go ninety

minutes in this roster. We know that someone's coming up the bench because once again, though Brian Spetzer and his staff is go as hard as you can for as long as you can, and let's bring the next guy in, right, and that next guy has got to be ready to do the same thing.

Speaker 5

Yeah, you know, I was impressed. I went we went to training in Houston, on that series and watching Nathan, he was the best finisher on the field in the practice, in the practice today before And that's not what caught me. What caught me was his personality, right, his leadership is comfort. Before the LAFC game, he was standing on the field and just looking around and I was gonna watch him, and you know, he was ready to play. And this

is his first start for the Seattle Sounders. He's got forty seven starts for San Jose, but but this was that was an opportunity. He was ready and not knowing he would go in and play that no one expected Gomez and try to come off the field with twentyish minutes to go. And so, and you're right, he was so good in the air, and they've got a group up front that he's and he's quick enough. I like his speed and his ball distribution out of the back was really good as well.

Speaker 4

And when we talk about it, and we talked about his finishing, especially his quality in the air, we're looking at, you know, the way we scored against LEEFC, the way we scored twice against the Galaxy is set pieces.

Speaker 3

If he's this.

Speaker 4

Quality guy in the air, that's another piece you get to add on so we're not taking away Yamar's you know, quality in the box because he's on the bench. You're now adding to it with Nathan who you know, if the ball does drop to his feet, it's it's gonna be a good one. That's a guy I want in

the in the box. After seeing those finishes, and I was chatting with Andy Rose during that training as well as Tommy Doutra, and it was that was a constant thing for them that Nathan is probably one of the better finishers on this team well for Seattle.

Speaker 2

Speaking of scoring goals, Jordan Morris tied Rollery Diaz last week for most playoff goals in Sounders history at nine, but tonight he will have the chance to get number ten and even roll off the bench. You never know. We'll see how it shakes out. But the Sounders in the Western Conference Final at LA Galaxy seventh times Seattle has advanced to the West Final, eighth MLS team to do so, and we'll quickly mention Ellie Galaxy coach by of course, Greg Vanny former Toronto, of course, who faced

Seattle in a couple of MLS Cups. Brian Schmitzer has a ten to three and four record against Greg Vanny, including those MLS cups. Of course, very good record between these two coaches for our Brian Schmitzer. We'll see how this shakes out. Well, it's take a break here on the Providence, Swedish premat show. We will come back and talk about the hosts in the galaxy exactly what they bring to the table. Spoiler alert, it's a lot of goals.

Speaker 2

Well, the Western Conference Final is here Sounders FC and the LA Galaxy with the right to host New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup. That is what is on the line tonight and it's time for today is sharp Vision upon Alec taking a look at the hosts in the Galaxy. Tonight's upon Alex is presented by sharp Vision Modern les Can Lens, the official Lasik provider of Sounders FC. All right, so where do we start because there is

a lot to go over here. As we mentioned, the Galaxy fifteen goals in their three playoff games so far, they crushed Colorado and back to back wins there in the first round five to nothing for to one. Then they crushed Minnesota six to two last week. I will quickly note two of those six goals came after going a man up, but still fifteen and three. The playoff record is seventeen. That record set by twenty and sixteen Toronto FC, a team that the Sounders and ended up beating.

By the way, of course, we all know in penalties p you asked, Callen, you said, off the air, but in the previous segment as well, have you ever faced four double digit goal scorers? Well, no, I can even answer that, because the La Galaxy are the first team in Major League Soccer history to have four ten plus goal scorers. You have Djovilch and Peck with nineteen each.

Peck adds sixteen assists, Jovialich ads eight assist, Ricky Pooje teen goals, sixteen assists, Joseph Painzil thirteen goals, eleven assists. By the way, you also have Diego Flagundez with four and six. Off the bench, you have Marco Royce, who they added in the summer transfer window. You have Brugman on the bench, Dogato on the bench. Sorio is starting in a loaded midfield.

Speaker 3

I mean, Callen, this team is on paper, and on paper is all that matters in terms of our pregame show right now, on paper, this is a ridiculous roster.

Speaker 4

It is, and it's a well rounded roster as well. They got the experience of Yoshida in the back. They've got the experience of Marco Royce and uh and and Pug just running the midfield and then the lightning like the just the energy of Peck, the energy and willingness of Jovilech and Pain Still. I mean, it's it is direct football. We talk about maybe like root one route one's more so just kind of bumping it down and hoping for a runner. These guys are just so directing

all the balls that they play. If Pete, if Roys or put pick up the ball in the midfield, they are looking in behind. They are looking for the darting run. They're looking to score off one to two passes rather than keeping the ball, opening a team up and waiting twenty thirty forty passes. They are looking to go at all times.

Speaker 5

The only thing I hope can be learned from the last game is that is that like Laurie and China, we're doing that to us at Luminfield. During the regular season with LAFC Seattle drop back. Now they went back. That was with the five man right in the back. So they can look at that blueprint from the last game at LFC and say, Okay, we're going to face a team that's very direct and they're going to put balls in put us under the pressure. So can we get numbers behind the ball and try to nullify that.

That is a good way to approach this game, because they just saw it last week and they did.

Speaker 4

But when I watched this game, the Galaxy game against Minnesota, is they do push numbers forward. I mean when I tell you they go, they go. It's like the last five minutes of every game for them, they just they push and they pushed, they push. But Minnesota, when they did have their chances, they nicked the ball, they won a good tackle, something didn't mess up at all of a sudden, it's now a breakaway and it's three on

three and going the other way. And so if the Sounders can be smart, hold their line, make some good plays, making sure you're staying in good angles, win the ball. When you win the ball, can you connect that first pass? But can you connect that first pass forward? Because Jordan Morris running at any center back.

Speaker 5

Yes, please, Yeah, a lot to hope it's Georgie getting that ball right, because yeah, right, correcked and that Morris can keep up with him.

Speaker 4

And then it's the first pass after winning the ball. Can you make it go forward? Can you? It doesn't have to be the pass, doesn't have to be the assist, but can you break it open? Because where now we can start running? Then what you see is if you can get running at their defense, I mean that this is a defense that has given up what was it, fifty goals conceded this year, there's fifteen more than Seattle.

I mean, and you know, I will say, yes, they've not lost at Dignity House Sports Park this season.

Speaker 2

They've not lost a home. They had a home loss that was actually in the Rose Bowl. But they are a tremendous team at home and because of that attack, and they play on the front foot. But if you can get behind him and you can get on the break. Defensively, you're looking at you know, Maya Yoshida, You're looking at Mickey Yamane, You're looking at John Nelson. I mean, the fifty goals conceded, it's a solid group. I guess it's it's it's they're good MLS players.

Speaker 3

But they're not great.

Speaker 2

They're not They're not Seattle defensively. And then John McCarthy and goals is fine. He's great at penalties.

Speaker 3

It's not Stephen Fryes.

Speaker 2

So if you can get going on the offensive end and you can get him on the counter, they're beatable on that end. On that note, because it's just a simple transition, we'll get to our players to watch today. Because my player to watch is Georgie Manungu. Georgie Manongo

has speed. He plays with such you know, I guess reckless abandon at times, right, And if we can get a little bit of that and he's fast as hell, get a little bit of that running and get him on the counter, make something crazy happening.

Speaker 13

You get a one on one.

Speaker 2

Georgie makes a move, dishes to Jordan Morris and boom, we find a goal out of nowhere. That's the type of a play that I think Seattle can win this game by. So Georgie Mnungo is my player to watch because it is on the offensive. I think La is going to get at least one in this game. Can the Sounders final one that's what I'm looking for, Callen, who's your player to watch?

Speaker 4

Ovid Vargas. I've got the kid. I mean, he had such a good performance last game, and he's had continuous good performances as a reason that he's on the Mexican national team now in the first team. But for me, we talked about Christian Roldan doing the dirty work last game, making sure that he may not show up on the stat sheet, but he was the one kind of breaking

plays up. I'm looking at obd Vargas because of his quality on the ball, because of his maturity now and the calmness that he has on this ball when he does win the ball, because he's going to be He's very good at getting into tackles following Ricky puge A round when he does that, Can he be that guy

to make that first pass forward? I'm looking at Can you find Jordan Morris, Can you find Albert Rusnak page de l Vegas so they can turn and break and I think obd Vargas is going to be want to start that.

Speaker 5

Yeah, normally when we're doing this, I go with the offensive guy, and I think about what Danny Jackson said, which is Fry has to make six saves. I think guess to do that again. I think he's got to be great. I think he's got to do what he did against Toronto in the final where he made the save right with the let's saved, Yeah, exactly, and so I think he's got to be that guy. I think we need two goals to win this game, but we

also need Fry. And if Fry gets one more shutout in the playoffs, he goes equal with Hartman.

Speaker 4

Uh It's correct.

Speaker 5

Yeah, And by the way, that doesn't matter. He's just got to play great. He's got but he's got to come up with some huge saves today because he is facing the most potent offense they've seen all seasons.

Speaker 2

Sixty nine goals scored this year. They are a great team. Indeed, let's go get this scene from Los Angeles. Let's head down there and talk to Brad Evans, who's calling the match with Danny Jackson. I want to hear about the supporter section. So we'll take a break. We'll come back and talk with Brad Evans next on the Sounders FC radio stream channel on iHeartRadio.

They got the mariachi band that's gonna do the national anthem, and so just like I said, it's about as la as it gets.

Speaker 2

Well, Brad, and we'd just talked about this Galaxy team, sixty nine goals scored, the fact that forty three of them have coming a home, Gabrielle Peck, the newcomer of the year, I goaler assist an eight consecutive matches.

Speaker 3

You know, how do the Sounders do what Minnesota and Colorado didn't do? How do they stop Peck? How do they stop this Galaxy attack?

Speaker 9

Yeah?

Speaker 23

I think it's as simple. And Andy Rose talked about it on the podcast this week, and it's every single time that the opposition has the ball, you're side on. And even when you have the ball, it might be worth just being sided on so that you're not the one that's caught out a position as that ball gets turned over and they immediately look forward, La do. And so you don't want to be that player that's getting caught to sleep today. And so that's the job of

every defender on this team. And obviously when you play in a back four, you can cover for each other, not as much as a back five. So there's gonna be opportunities in behind for La tonight, much like there was even with the back five I've in Minnesota. So the Sounders just have to come out and really pin back the Galaxy and make them defend and really ship that entire block of the Galaxy back towards their own goal.

Speaker 3

Brad, Just so you know, I'm wearing the pitch black from fourteen. Let's avenge twenty fourteen tonight, shall we.

Speaker 23

Yeah, that should have been the year of the treble right there. Tommy and I just talked about it. But yeah, that was a special year twenty fourteen, and to go out in that fashion, it would be awesome to lift that trophy here just like they did away.

Speaker 4

From Home backs who whoa, whoa buddy. You'd have to go through the quality of kelln Row and the new England team that year as well. So let's let's take it easy the Western Conference trophy, okay, making sure, making sure the Sounders would have won.

Speaker 13

Uh huh.

Speaker 5

I like the tension that the playoffs bring.

Speaker 3

I know great, Brad, have a great call tonight with Danny. We appreciate you hopping on all right, see you guys.

Speaker 9

That's Brad.

Speaker 4

I would agree with Brede.

Speaker 3

Nonetheless, let's avenge.

Speaker 4

Twenty fourth team that Sounders team in fourteen. It was a very good team, man.

Speaker 2

And just I did that was I couldn't even watch that final. I was so sick that the Galaxy won that. But we have the chance to do what we didn't do in fourteen, get past the Galaxy and go play MLS Cup, which would be back at Lumenfield. One more break on the prematch show. We'll come back and wrap it up with our keys to the match and the history against the Galaxy. That's next on the Sounders FC radio stream channel on iHeartRadio.

Welcome back to the Province Swedish premat show for the Western Conference Final, and we are just five minutes away from kickoff at Dignity Health's Sports Park down in Carts in California. Today's countown to kickoff has been presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. This is the fifth time these clubs have met in the playoffs twenty ten, twenty twelve, twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen. In all of these games individual games, Sounders have a three

to four to oher record. They have, of course, not met since twenty fifteen. A long history between these clubs all time, both in playoffs and in regular season where Seattle is fourteen eleven and fourteen against the Galley. See it's the Western Conference Final. Let's get to some keys to the match. Calen rowe Peat viewing. What are you looking forward to happen?

Speaker 4

Same as last week against ALFC. Got to have some sacrifices. Who's going to be the one to shut down this just electric attack? I wanted to be the back line. Obviously we talked about Stephan Fry making some big saves, but can we get these? Can we get make sure that the Galaxy is not scoring more than one goal this game only.

Speaker 5

About eight no mistakes. They've got to make plays. The final pass is very important. You talk about Georgie. Can he get to that end line, cut it back for either Jordan Morris or can he get it to Albert? Can the shots beyond target? Individual duels? Brian Spetzer talks about that. A lot restarts both ways. We've got to execute get a goal. We've also got to make sure

we don't give anything up. Counter attacks super important. Each direction and then numbers behind the ball that we've got to make it very difficult for this five headed monster to get through to Seattle.

Speaker 2

For me, Same as twenty nineteen against ALFC. Punch him in the face and let's see how they respond. They haven't dealt with the kind of the back the fourth games, the intense games that we have, they've won by a lot of blowouts.

Speaker 3

Let's make him play a tight game. Let's get him under duress. Let's win this thing.

Speaker 2

Speaker 6

Good evening from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, where your Sounders face longtime rival the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Final. Galaxy were pipped at the finish line in the regular season, missing out in first place with a last minute goal on decision Day, but that disappointment has only fueled their fire.

Speaker 7

In the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Speaker 6

The Galaxy have scored fifteen goals six of those were scored in the semi final versus Minnesota. With a dynamic attack, they are motivated to make their first MLS Cup in ten years. For the Sounders, they are back where they belong, another Western Conference final and a chance to host MLS Cup next weekend. After a season defining two to one win at LAFC last week, Brian Schmizer's men see the shining light of lumen in the distance, but no formidable

opponent stands in their way. While goals win games, the Sounders are going to need their league best defense to be on their best form tonight in the City of Angels. There is no better fairy tale ending to this season for the Sounders than hosting MLS Cup in their fiftieth anniversary year. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders captain Brad Evans for the call tonight, and before we get to Brad for his initial thoughts, the players get ready to go.

Speaker 7

Let's get you.

Speaker 6

Bryan Schmetz's starting lineup for the Sounders. Stephen Fryan gol about four roll do. Nathan slides on that right hand side of the back two alongside Jackson, Reagan and then

knew who back from illness last week. Comes in on that left hand side, Christian Roldan alongside Obed in the middle of the park, Pedro de la Vega on the right, Albert Rosnack in the middle, Georgie Manungo sliding on that left hand side, and then Jordan Morris up front for Greg Banny and his La Galaxy team John McCarthy and gol about four of Yomani, Gasez, Yoshida and Nelson, the midfield three of Royce, Cirio and Pouge, and then an

attacking three of Peck, Jovlich and Pencil players. Get ready to go sound in the anniversary kit green shirts, blue shirts and blue socks. Tonight they're gonna be attacking the goal to our right, and then La Galax and their traditional all white kit attacking the goal to our left. So, Brad, you are on pregame for a few minutes, but let's get your keys to the game.

Speaker 7

How do the Sounders need to get started?

Speaker 8

Yeah?

Speaker 23

Well, this team seems to like pressure and they seem to perform best when things are on the line, as evident by a slow start to this year and when it mattered most the team had to win and they did it right. You don't make it to this place without having good players zone being able to get it done.

So this team has to be stout defensively, but they also have to be killers in front of that because those opportunities in the playoffs, the best defensive team in the playoffs usually ends up winning and hoisting that trophy. So the Sounders have to prove why they've had the best defense and Jordan's got to step up tonight.

Speaker 6

Here it goes. La Galaxy have the kick prush back to Sireo Big Western Conference Final between these incredibly successful franchises Sounders and the LA Galaxy. Loud, raucous tonight, and so shall it be The La Galaxy have been formidable at home, have not lost here at Dignity Sports but all season long, the only loss at home, so to speak, was at the Rolls Ball between against LAFC. That only loss at home, but not here a Dinity Sports hell Stadium.

Here comes LFC down the left hand side with Nelson right in front of Greg Vanny. Of course, Greg Vanny Brian Schmetzer. A number of MLS Cups that they face each other. On twenty sixteen, seventeen and nineteen all when Greg Vanny was at Toronto. Here's Pooge over one hundred and fifty touches last game. Pretty incredible, how he buzzed around the field. He talked about it in the production meeting.

He's on the ball right now and grad it's it's not as to keeping him quiet, it's about keeping him busy in the wrong areas.

Speaker 23

It's about keeping him as far away from the Sounders goal as possible.

Speaker 9

So how do you do that?

Speaker 23

Jordan has to apply pressure and so does Albert as Poushe picks up that ball, Lisen. He has so many touches because every time he gets the ball, he takes like fifteen different small little touches. But that's what makes him so dangerous. And at any moment, you've seen it in previous games, he'll just knock the ball into the corner. And that's when the front three for the La Galaxy, no, it's time to go.

Speaker 6

Guysis getting his opportunity in the back line towards the back end of the regular season, but Jordan Morris puts a little pressure on Pooshe brings him now just inside the Galaxy attacking.

Speaker 7

Half for the field is going to be a free kick.

Speaker 6

For the Galaxy, who have had extremely successful first three games in the playoffs. Casting Colorado was sight easily, of course, last week against Minnesota, winning six goals to two. There was a couple of freights for Galaxy, but the end of the day, it was that trio of peace Pencil Peck Pooh, two goals apiece for all of them got the six goal for La Galaxy. Here comes Royce trus Is slipped by Jackson rag and good play by Christian Bold on top of his box, Calm and compose in possession.

Troy s to find Jordan Morris. They fight for the ball, picked up by Obed Vargas. Wriggles free across the halfway line. He goes, knocks it down for a first touch for Georgie Minungo down that left hand side cuts in. It's gonna be a big night for Georgie.

Speaker 7

Wriggles clear he comes ross back inside the box.

Speaker 6

Good saved by McCarthy early attack for the sounds in transition Coronickick.

Speaker 23

Well, the Galaxy haven't faced anything like that early on in a game, and that's a credit to Obed Vargas there just sniffing out and Obed has been so good in tight spaces, and Georgie does well just what Schmet's wanted. Stay as wide as possible when your center midfielders get the ball and it's about putting your head down and trying to break free of your defender. And all of a sudden, Albert Rusnak ends up with the ball on his left foot. There's a decent strike. Goal forces McCarthy

into a saving first corner kick of the game. It's gonna be for the Sounders on their left hand side. It's gonna go shut and he Rose has a couple of things up as sleeve. We heard from Brian Schmetze over lapp and run by Georgie.

Speaker 6

Grosneck has it, whips it in, deflects it off Nelson who comes across the blocket. His news first meaningful touch as he rolls the ball back to Stefan frying goal. Big performance from Stephan of course, big saves nine saves in total last week, and I see back of his goal. But Stepan Fryes stood up to the task as we've seen him do so many times. It was a big night last week in Southern California. The Stages said of course have a big night again, Sounders traveling their entire

squad for the game. We all here to support the men and green. Can they get back to another MLS Cup? Could it be a fifth MLS Cup for Brian Schmetzer In nine years, four Western Conference finals that Brian has made, says twenty sixteen. He's made all the finals sixteen, seventeen, nineteen and twenty with two MLS Cup wins coming from those four games. So Brian Schmittze, he knows his team

is set up to absorb pressure. You know, his team's set up to withstand some of these flowries of attack, Brad. But it's gonna be about can they execute in those opportunities in the final third.

Speaker 23

Oh, that's four times that the Sounders have been in this game and they've been able to advance out of this game. That's the most important piece of that.

Speaker 4

Right.

Speaker 23

Yes, it's not always just good enough to get to the final, but it says a lot about this team and when they get to this game right here, that's when the Sounders tend to turn it on. So it's about the Sounders tonight and putting in a solid, solid shift And these are the ones that you have to be careful of the galaxy is gonna try and pull out Alex rolled on and then it becomes three v three up top if Alex comes out of position. Those are the quick ones that Alex is gonna need to

double down, but he needs help obit. Where's Alice roll doing close down?

Speaker 6

Pencil deep on the La Galaxy left hand side, goes inside to Surio pick up from Dallas. Of course, playing in the center of the park, big important role for him in the middle of the field, alongside Royce and Poosh. You will get involved in the attacking third, of course, And here's that man Poosh or is it square across

to Nelson right in front of the Sounders bench. Comes back to Poosh no reverse ball, tries to find Nelson in behind, rolls over the headline and here in the early stages in La Mail Nail Stephan Foy pixel ball and gets their team up.

Speaker 24

Well.

Speaker 23

We talked we talked to with Schmeetz about who has to have a big game in this one, and he specifically pointed out it's got to be De la Vega, and it's got to be Georgia Manonga and their job is to keep things wide and high and hopefully force if they can get some success. Paintsil and Peck to have to defend in this game, because that's something that Minnesota didn't do well, and they just afforded the opportunity for the La Galaxy to push and push and push.

They ended up breaking six times in that game. So the Sounders offensively are actually doing more by keeping the ball than actually just working hard defensively.

Speaker 6

Here's Vargas right hand side, rolls it back pocket pick there climbs ellig Alse, so danger. But here's where the

Sounders can be dangers in transition. Rosnek has it, rolls the ball to left hand side, one B one Georgie against Yamani, comes inside to his right foot, strikes a good block by Gass, picked up by the Sounders midfield and rolled on middle of the park, comes out to his brother Alex right corner of the box, closed down by Nelson to Pedro de la Vega, as Bred mentioned, big game needed from Pedro tonight playing on that right

hand side. Here he is with the ball right in front of the assistant referee, goes square into Vargas top corner of the eighteen yard box. Vargas back to rolled on Big Monster game last week against LAFC. Both Vargas and Christian rolled on as he has it, rolls it in short to Vargas Alex making a quick dash inside of hen soil Son know where Pencil wants to be right now on the top of his eighteen yard bucks defending.

But Fred you mentioned, can the sounders push them back and force those wingers to do the defensive work as well?

Speaker 23

Yeah, of course, And that's what SCHMETZERI wan out of these moments of patience, right, It's all about patients and unfortunately giveaway there from the sounders. But that if you just go and try to push too quick and too fast and it's not on and how the team is wanting to be set up, then you actually end up doing more harm than good. So the sounders do a good job there are keeping the ball and then it forces Pencil he has to drop all the way back on the top of his eighteen. Now it's an out

of the sounder. It's just keeping the ball and waiting for that right opportunity to either swing it in or a knifing ball through the middle.

Speaker 25

Well.

Speaker 6

Sound is FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official Healthcare Pawner of Sounders FC frea kick giving up by Al troll Don the in the LA Galaxy half. They get to get going quickly with Pooge as you'd expect. He wants to be on the ball and he can fly past people as does right now, Lucky Bounce finds the foot of Royce middle of the pops. Now for roy Hansoit to Peck going in his preferred left foot Peck and Pencil playing on opposite side to their preferred

and stronger feet. Pencil more right.

Speaker 7

Footed, Peck more left footed like to come off that outside.

Speaker 6

All given away by Peck rolled past Pencil is going to be throwing four the Sounders deep on their right hand side with Alex rolled on ten yards or so from the corner flag. Nathan in support in behind came on caused for Yamar's injury in the last game against LAFC and played extremely well. Won a ton of balls in the air, powerful headers against Kai Kamara. There's no slouch in the air, of course, fourteen years old as Kamara or see if he comes back into MLS next year.

He was out on the field with his family at the end of the game, just taking it all in. Wonder if that is a goodbye to MLS for Kai Kamara. Here's Wheresnate rolls at square top of the box of the Sounders played by Yoshida the experience yoshidah played all across Europe and including England. Nelson knocks it off, Pedro de la Vega throwing on the left hand side.

Speaker 23

Oh, here's the question is the Sounder has built up. Spencer specifically said he needs de la Vega to be wide and Georgie on the other side. But in that in that moment though, Pederal de Levega's tucked in and also the top of the d and I think the Sounders players are expecting to open up and slip it to them wide and they just can't get there.

Speaker 6

Step by Reagan just about got that toist right foot on the ball as Pens will try to flick it around the corner. He would have had an entire half of the fields to run in two. But defending by Reagan, monster game last week from him as well on the back line really marshalled Jeru so well, the World Cup winner. I had four meaningful touches inside the box for Jeru in the entire game, and as Pouche has knocked it

over the top for Royce's making a dancing run. Former Brusi Dormund player, German national team player of course, two times German Player of the Year. As Georgia tries to rigo three of you on a crowd light the defensive word from that back line, Whe's like asking for a found no foul given Galaxy had possession.

Speaker 23

Well, you're not gonna get that one in the playoffs. Ten minutes into a game away from home in La George's gotta know that he's gonna have to fight through some stuff tonight. And what's called at the defiance level isn't gonna get called early on in these in these games. And we saw it with Paul Rothrock too, right. We asked the question, Paul seems to go down a little bit easy sometimes and throw his hands up in the air, and but you gotta get on with the play. So Georgie, now,

welcome to the game. On to the next player.

Speaker 6

Eleventh minute, Here Carson California Galaxy Sounders Western Conference Final nil nil ball gets played to Neilson cushion head a squatch top of the box. His voice just lose his possession for split second allowed Nathan to step in. Neilson triest to let it roll out. Yes he will, and it's gonna be on the online for a corner kick for the Galaxy. Right in front of that boys stress end to our left, flax flying everyone on that feet.

They were in the stand very early on this evening, at least good up an hour and a half before the game, at least half full.

Speaker 7

Stefan Freer good boo as he came up for his warm up. Sounders fans again in their support.

Speaker 6

We see green shirts dotted around here and there, but a big contingent to our far left. It's gonna be a corner kick for Royce. He swinger this right foot right on top of Fry, headed up in the air. Jordan Morris has a chance, clears his lines with the header. He comes to del Vega picks the ball up double team by Sirio and Peck. No felt given by the

referee as della Vega fell to the ground. Comes Galaxy and there would be a great match up between the best one bi one defender in the league and Knewho and certainly one of the best wingers in MLS. Newcomer of the year's Peck Gard says, has it Ellie Galaxy just slowing the game down center of the punk is pooge again, a little pressure from Vargas, rolls it out to the right hand side to Peck sounds ten men

behind the ball. Jordan Royce just six or seven yards inside his own half of the field will allow pet who is just to roll it out to Yashida and then down to his left hand, so it to Nelson goes in squat toy jovilag. That's a chance to turn chunk of the box, ricochets, bounds the feet of Pencil Good closing down by roll Don goes out this narissit for a throwing a bit.

Speaker 23

Of a chess match. So far, in the first thirteen minutes of this one, neither team exactly sure how they want to attack. But you're starting to see who'sh pick up that ball just a little bit further into the sounder's half, and that's where the Sounders have to be careful. And what the Galaxy love is to have a corner kick, and that's where they get you disorganized, and if you don't connect your first two or three passes they're gonna find that little mismatch and off the Galaxy go.

Speaker 6

We're closing down by Delavega. That looks pretty innocuous challenge Poosh in the uh enter a la Hollywood. Put about seven roles still on the ground, and you.

Speaker 23

Can count him here. Here's one two again. I think he's got a good four or five in there for a little touch. It's as slight as the fouls, but he sells it. The referee does a good job there and just says, hey, it's a it's attack. He foul in the middle of the park. The next one, Pedro might get something for it. Most found player in MLS. You'd expect it as well. And now times on the.

Speaker 6

Ball, why we play a small in stature, but certainly big an influenced ball to the outside of his foot clip ten played by the Sounders up in the air headed by Vargas. Ford picked up like Gases, challenged by Vargas, and now Royce and Peck cleans things up, rolls it back to Yoshida and now gass Is the Galaxy build from the back at fifteenth minute and they'll nil from the Sounders get through this game and host MLS Cup

next weekend. Good challenge by Argus. He comes the sound As in transition De la Vega right hand side across halfway line, keeps his head down. Jordan Morris in behind, now inside the box closed down by Gus along the six McCarthy picks it up just inside his six yard bucks. It's good play by Delaveager and Morris. And now the other way goes Pooge those past rolled down, tries to feed into Yogol. It's picked up by Royce. Now pack

top of the bucks, brought by his own man. Royce and the Sounders now pick it up on that left ten.

Speaker 23

Side with Georgie. He just slows the game down. Yeah, well done by Georgie's this to know the moment in this game. It was a real back and forth there, and we thought Pedro de la Vega, I think he puts his head down as Jordan makes this acceleration to get him behind there has certainly had him on with a little inside foot slip pass, but Jordan ends up holding his run. It's a decent little combination just out of reach and all of a sudden comes back against

the Sounders. Christian Waldon steps He thinks that pooshe is gonna do one thing, and Poosh tricks him and goes the other ways. The Sounders have defended well so far against the Galaxy. You have to give them that.

Speaker 6

Possession. Certainly in favorite bill a Galaxy look over seventy three percent, But the Sounders will take that. They don't have to entertain away from home. You hear the crowd in the background right.

Speaker 7

Behind their team.

Speaker 6

They haven't seen the Galaxy be in this position for a number of years, as we mentioned. Last MLS Cup that they made was ten years ago in twenty fourteen. Of course, that extremely painful loss against the Sounders. There's Nathan and the ball closed down by Pencil wins the throw in right in front of Greg Venny.

Speaker 23

What a difficult job for a center back to have to come in in one of his only games that he's played this year in a Western Conference final away from home, stepping in for you know, arguably the best defender in MLS and having to make an impact. And

he sure did it last week against LAFC. He didn't put a foot wrong, like you said, going I'm against the Kai Kamara and winning every single headball and doing what he did well and sometimes it's a little easier to go into a game and now you've got the pressure. You know you're playing for a contract. Which team am I going to be on next year? But I still have to perform for the badge tonight. He's got to have a massive game for the Sounders.

Speaker 7

Sorio's ankles get click. Referee gives the advantage.

Speaker 6

Pouche has it, drives forward inside the Sounders defensive third in the field, inside the boxes. Royce looks to cut it along the six yarp I've picked up well by Alex rolled On, brings it down under control, rolls it out to Pedro Dela Vega on this near side the right. Dela Vega just cuts away from pressure of Nelson back to Nathan just strikes it long into the night sky, brought down by the experience Yo Sheeta and there's Morris who flicks it around the corner.

Speaker 7

Looking at the referee.

Speaker 6

It's a pretty obvious foul won the ball off yr Sheeta was slow. Tourists responding react to his first touch. Morris hit the deck, looked across. No foul given and those are the things that the sound we'll definitely look for. Can we slow the game down at the right times, and then when they've got a chance to move in transition, can they take advantage We've seen in a couple of

times already. As you mentioned, Greg Vanny's been the rebuilding project here of course for the Galaxy fans weren't happy last year Chris Klein four GM left and then the rebuilding project started. No better pieces than Pooge, pencil and peck Sernin Yovolitch has flourished of course as well.

Speaker 7

It's been at the club for a number of years.

Speaker 6

Signed in August of twenty one, fifteen goals on his year added to the goals that Poush and pack and pencil up. Here's your mind down the right inside stripe by Jovolch, but saved by Bray. It's comfortable in the end, but I had to go to his right knocked it away. Sound has cleared their lines. But here come Galaxy again, the knocking on the door. But Sound is so far holding up and standing.

Speaker 23

Well, that's who you want to have to defend you right there as Marco Royce as Pousche gets caught out of position here. But the La Galaxy with a good spell of possession there and it looked a little bit innocuous, but it forced Stephen Fry into a diving save. Now the Sound has come down, It's got to be better in those situations and keeping the ball, keeping the ball right.

And like you said, Jobolic, that's a guy that Sasha Kleschen said a number of years ago when he was with the Galaxy that he wanted to be a starter in this league. But you know, they had Chicherito at the time for a number of years and he just kind of bide his time, wait to get on the pitch.

Speaker 7

And he's shown it.

Speaker 23

He's a fantastic number nine, the way that he holds up the ball and he's he's really a killer inside of that box.

Speaker 6

Sounders habit the far sight there left back to Jackson Reagan. Third in Voching for Defending Defender of the Year in MLS. Boshyema was a candidate last year. Didn't make it either, But the Sound is about the best defensive record last year. Thotch two goals against last year. Toyed with Nashville this year, sending a top on their own with thirty five goals against in the regular season. They've been strong in the

playoffs so far it was about resilience. Last week against LAFC, they gave up the first goal and they managed to respond in side of ten minutes and then of course Jordan Mouris steps up and just smashes it into the roof of the net. Pass the World Cup winner Larisse heaving up by rolled on sounds to be careful giving up possession that areas in the field. Here come the Galaxy with Yogolets rolls at square to Peck. Broy's making overlapping run ball inside the box, so yogolet's good pat

tackle by Nathan inside the box. Back he goes to Peck again. Good challenge by Vargas, cleared by Alex rolled on right towards Brian Schwetz as it bounces over the Sounders bench and Brian gets to his features, calming the team down, so they take a breath.

Speaker 23

Yeah, you can see what the Galaxy like to do. As soon as you make a mistake, it's usually poos around the bar and it's a first pound forward and it actually comes to Yola just feeding and he makes a misstep a mispass. This grass is really really short and plays really fast for being just slightly wet on it and he gets lucky there, and the sounders have

to be careful. And this is a second or third attack from the Galaxy, and as they start to build up confidence and steam, the crowd's not two into this one right now. And that's the last thing you want to do is letting the crowd back into this one. But like you said, you saw Schmidt's calm down, guys, Let's have a little bit of a reset here and just gain some possession. Let the galaxy move.

Speaker 6

Not forcing it. Twenty first minute here Neil nil Peck has it on the right hand side, rolls a top of the box to pooshe good challenge by rolled on tries to find Royce inside the box. That finds Royce now Yamani right hand side towards the end line clicked in heady clear by Vargas finds the fetive Georgie deep in the sound is how the field good little reverse ball around the corner finds Vargas tackled by Poosh. Crowdloink care Reagan end up when it endline giving up cheaply by Jackson.

Speaker 7

Top of the box says pooge Now tressa rolled it in car reeks today andrel comes out picks it up easily.

Speaker 6

But granted, so those giveaways in the Roman areas that could really cause problems for the.

Speaker 23

Sound I've been in this exact game here away from home at the Galaxy, and it is a difficult place to play, right. There's a setting to this stadium, knowing what the Galaxy I have accomplished in years pass and once they get going, they're a really hard team to beat. So the Sounders, you feel that pressure on the field, so they have to be really careful not to fall into that one. And how do you negate that? Do the opposite of what Jackson Reagan just did, right, You

send that ball out of balance. I don't care if that ball goes thirty rows up, but instead you force it into a Galaxy player, and then the Sounders have to defend.

Speaker 6

Sound as have it went in the middle of the field. August rolls out, says naside the right to Jordan Mars comes inside as an overlapping run by Dela Vega. Now he gets the ball right corner of the bucks. Next rolled on just holding his position behind Brad Evans next to me, just encouraging him to get around the corner, get towards the endline, Brad. It's an interesting situation for

Alex because his natural instinct is to go. But then, of course you've got so many attacking weapons for l a ounce, you could cheat, and if give it away, it's in transition where you get hit.

Speaker 23

But you have to you have to play a game. Like I said early on, in this one, Alex actually does more by pushing high and maintaining possession. That's actually active defending because you keep the ball and then this is what happens if you give the ball away. Now you're out of sorts and I would just foul Poosh in this situation.

Speaker 6

Poosh, manage your real great crowd like that Sounders could do with a good old tackle on Pooge. There put you around the corner by Joviltch. It goes down to the deck a ben just given pencil inside the eighteen yard box left inside. Good recovery by Nathan goes down, clears his lines, shut your Offisher, will have a word.

Speaker 7

I think it was Nathan who pulled down.

Speaker 6

Will knock down Yovilch around the corner by the Galaxy forward. The Sounders have possession top of that box. Nice and calm switcher play by rolled On, picked up well by YOURMANI reads the danger well skips in front of Georgie Glexy habit and they're attacking.

Speaker 7

Third of the field.

Speaker 6

Paul comes inside to Syria and that's a pooje alloy out to Yamani square to Peck top of the box to pooge Tiki taki top of the box for the Galaxy sound is standing strong. All goes out on this near side to Nelson first time. Ball out to pencil left corner of the box. Challenged by Alex. Rolled On just slows up. Pencil does a good job. Paul goes backwards. Now the foot of Poosh clips it towards the backstick headed clearby Knew who easy for the sounders. Left back

finds the foot of Georgie. Then the sound has just calm things down. Georgie does a good job. Tries to go down the line. Tackle by Yamane throwing by for the sounders.

Speaker 23

One thing you've already seen with Georgia coming into this one right, it's different than when he comes in as a side up. Every time he gets the balls a sub he's taken on. If I've got a match up with Cirio. He's not that fast and Georgie's lightning. Instead, you bait him, bait him. You're waiting for that perfect opportunity. But for a guy like Georgia, you only need three or four yards. Push the ball in front of you and off you go. George just playing a little bit

timid right now. He needs to find himself and come into this one. And now it's a second pass. Aaron passed from a sounder.

Speaker 6

There's a switch of the ball from the back line trying to find Georgie on the far left hand side. He was hugging that far touchline and over his head. Galaxy throw here in a twenty fifth minute. So far, so good for the sound is nil Nil mentioned the crowd of getting into it when the Galaxy find themselves a little bit of joy he knocking on the door, but nothing so far for the Galaxy and the teching through to the field. Fry with really one meaningful safe

to his right. Samons will take this all day long, just keeping it. He mentioned the home record for the Galaxy this year, extream is strong. No losses here, but didn't you hell sports Park fifteen goals already in their first three playoff games six in their last game against Minnesota. Here with Greg Vanni back in twenty seventeen, who had seventeen goals for his Toronto team in the first three games of the playoffs, that's the record, so he since

the number two. Now this season we're fifteen, Sounders are going to rely on that back four that's done so well this season. Nathan of course slotting in for yam Up and he started the first game of the season against lafc here in La So it's Quiney this.

Speaker 7

Time, and by all accounts it's.

Speaker 6

Been incredibly dedicated to his craft. In practice, his roll Don goes down, heads the ball high foot by Yomani, gives the Sounders a free kick inside there attacking half the fielding the chance.

Speaker 23

To deliver the ball in the eacheen yard bucks the Sounders of the good opportunity here to slow some things down. And to your point about playing Minnesota last week, I think I think the Galaxy were already off and running and feeling confident in that one, and the Sounders have nullified any chance at the Galaxy have had in the first twenty minutes of this one. Say, for a couple half chances. So it's a different opponent for the Galaxy, and I think they're still figuring out how are we

gonna break them down. The passes last week that pooshe was able to hit in behind and really pick out an attacking player have been caught out tonight. So the Sounders have to be switched on. You set pieces to their advantage.

Speaker 7

Georgie has it left hand side, little step up towards the endline.

Speaker 6

He goes, beats your money easily head it clear by yosheet jersey box. It is back four frustrated and easy free kick from Rosnik. Just roll the ball out to the left hand side and expose your money in a one b one situation against Georgie. Much greater speak clip sit in good ball with the left.

Speaker 7

Foot of Georgie. It's gonna be a corn kit for the Sounders.

Speaker 6

It's gonna be a Rosna Sounders left. It's gonna be as royal foot in swinger Reagan Morris. Nathan standing on the penalty spot. Challenge one v one by the White Shirts. Ball comes in or just misses Nathan on the front post. Had it clear, it comes pat The ball played by Vargas just nips in front, rolls the ball back to new who sounds evy support and possession. We've rolled on

across now the far left hand side. The foot of Rusnak Georgia making a run in behind, gets the ball left side just outside of eaching Yarboch wriggles free of gases, goes towards Nathan clared by the Galaxy finds the foot of rolled on now Pedro Delava a little quiet in the last ten minutes or so, towards the end line clip towards the back sick good ball just hangs it up from the back sick.

Speaker 7

Nathan goes down.

Speaker 6

Maybe it was an inadvertent challenger as Rmani, maybe felling in, but it's gonna be a lit a corner kick.

Speaker 23

Well, that's much better from the Sounders, right, That's a sustained possession that you want. And you saw Gabrielle Packet given another two inches. There he's gone and off to the races. The Sounders do really well to recover that one and then have the patience and wherewithal to just keep that ball. But you're already seeing now Georgia getting into this game. And if I'm any Sounders player say, Georgia, get the ball and go, go, go go. We just cover you.

Speaker 7

Twenty ninth minute Neil Neil coin cake for the Sounders.

Speaker 25

One.

Speaker 7

I'm up in the ad by ResNet In swinging with his right foot and it comes go short and low headed clear by Nelson.

Speaker 6

That's out on the far side for a Sounders throw. Those deliveries from set piece is gonna be poured. And the Sounders obviously had success in Leagues Cup against the Galaxy early on in that game at lumen from set pieces.

Speaker 23

Yeah, when the delivery is good, it gives you, it gives you a chance, right, and if the delivery is not there, it's a waste of a sixty yard run for both center backs to push into the box. But the adages you have to clear the first post, right, You have to give yourself a chance and clear that first post. And Albert's been very good this year on set pieces, as evident by racking up so many assists this year and just got away from them a little bit.

Speaker 12

Well.

Speaker 6

Let's copyrighted audio casts of Major League Socer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League soccers. We tick to the thirty minute mark remains nil nil Western Conference Final. However, you are listening to us tonight, we appreciate you joining us. Big, big game for the Sounders. If they win, they host MLS Cup next Saturday afternoon, so stay tuned. In twenty nineteen when they hosted it, it was a sellout memory.

I'm sure many people won't forget. The ball gets launched by Reagan towards Alex Roldonnald's getting ford.

Speaker 7

More, but here comes Penson. Now picks up the loose.

Speaker 6

Ball to Pooge, who's been quiet the last few minutes. But now things lay across to the far side. A little error on the pass given away by Nude needs to be a bit more secure than ball. He read the play well, stepped in front and then gave it away.

Speaker 23

Let's try to chest it towards Georgie. If you have time to chest the ball, normally you have enough time to bring it down to himself. And that was Ziggy's least favorite pass in all the game. If he caught you doing a chess pass, it was pretty much game over for you, no matter what minute was in that game. And if it's down at your chest and it just needs to use his head, use that little cushion header. Give Georgie a chance. There, you'd played by.

Speaker 6

The sound has been given away by rolled On as he recovers as Peck Well our sort so far it was so dynamic last week. Sound has done a really good job of containing Peck on that right hand side, sounds that possession inside there half the field with Christian rolled On, who's come back into that central midfield spot where JP was out injured and has really solidified that position for himself alongside oh Bed dynamic do a right

in front of the back forward. As much as the back four getting plawed, it's for their defensive rook it's sometimes the two in front that just become that windshield wiper that you're a great job defensively picking up loose balls, protecting that back for and had another monster game last week against LAFC. Did those two all goes into Dalla Vega.

Speaker 7

And you'd be busy tonight.

Speaker 6

Brian Schmanza talked about Pedro Needing a big game on that right hand side. It comes Reagan the middle of the field, it rolls it into Christian world ong just what the Sounders need right now, just a little.

Speaker 7

Bit of concerted.

Speaker 6

Possession, Be patient with the ball. Force the galaxy to defend. As brad Evans mentioned, Orgos center to right hand side to Pedro one B one versus Nelson cuts towards the end line. Good delivery towards that peak spot cleared by Royce. His pencil wriggles free. And here's why the galaxy can be danger Just let Sounders do a great job of heading back in position. Forces a tyfficult ball by pencil and then easily picked up by knew who.

Speaker 23

Well, that's much better from the Sounders. That was that patient possession.

Speaker 6

Right.

Speaker 23

You keep the ball for ten or twelve passes, and then with one pass you all of a sudden you gain fifteen twenty yards up the field. And like Schmett said, he wants da le Vega to come wide. And that's actually the ball that you want, because as a defender, you're thinking that they're gonna hit that ball on the ground, pass your left foot if you're the left back. But he does the opposite. He plays it almost on a knife ball, pass his right foot. It's Georgie towards the end line.

Speaker 6

Good challenge by Gossis, but he's gonna be a corner cake for the Sounders. Again.

Speaker 7

Sounds need to be.

Speaker 6

Patient in possession, but when they go, they can go so much better.

Speaker 23

From the Sounders right on both sides. That's what you want out of your out of your outside midfielders, or if you want to call him, you're too high forwards on the outside there, much like the La Galaxy, but both players starting to find a little bit of successes. They work their way into this one.

Speaker 6

Fourth corner cake for the sound is only one so far from the galaxy. Sounders need to take advantage. Can they do it on this one? It's gonna be on the left hand side once again in stringer with the right foot of Resna and it comes short again easily clared. Let's say Peck picks it up. Now he's gonna drive forward try so we'll go free far gust different proposition of the Sounders defensively the Minnesota were last week. It certainly feels brad just the way that Bruyn Schmidtz sets

up his team. We can recaut season overseas and it's being solid work off a base and then attack when you get the opportunity and.

Speaker 7

It feels like the galaxy right now, a little bit confused on.

Speaker 6

What to do in the attacking third.

Speaker 23

Yeah, exactly. I think it was a chess game from the first five or ten minutes of this one, and you saw it, like you said, poosh, with much more time on the ball early in this one. Now the Sounder is able to keep it, like Schmitz wanted to. That's the best form of keeping any good player off the balls. When you have it, be good with it and make sure that not just keep the ball, but do it with intent. And that's what the Sounders have

done so good. The second part of this season is really keeping possession with intent and breaking that first line and then getting forward.

Speaker 6

Well at the top Tomorrows great ball. G says, tries to close it down. He does a good job getting back. Jordan Morris just job, says Hips towards the back said your flat pop post assist a refreeze flag went up initially and then went down again. That's what the Sounders can do. They have the pace of Marris Roan Schmidtz talked about it. When you think about flat out speed ball over the top, that is a weapon the sound does have with Morris up there as the number nine

outpaces Yoshida Gassas comes across, does a good job. The Galaxy have possession well.

Speaker 23

Garza is a quick player in his own right, So that's gonna be one to look out for tonight for the Sounders and Jordan Morris. But like we said, if the Sounders can break that first line of pressure from Pietz, so Jovolich and Peck, they could be off to the races. Because Sirell's got the easiest job in Major League Soccer. He does not leave the center circle.

Speaker 6

If I could pick.

Speaker 23

One job to have right now as a forty year old guy that retired, I would pick Cereo's job, just to sit in there and provide cover and Alice Galaxy build. You see pooshe all the way almost back at halfway. So, like you said, the Galaxy a little bit in an if kind of what are we doing right now?

Speaker 6

State. Sometimes when you score so many goals, you just kind of flow with it like that and you can give up a goal or two, as they did against Minnesota. They gave it two goals and they gave it fifty in the regular season. So yes, they were dynamic with sixty nine goals scored, but they gave up fifty, so they are vulnerable at the back at times. They've shown it already. Sounders just need to take that one chance. Can they defend like warriors like they did last week?

Can they nick a goal in the most opportune time? Right now they're defending top of their eighteen yard bucks is the back fours eleven men behind the ball just deep in their defense of half of the field. As Pooche has it, the sound as well take that all day long. As Poosh stands in front of eleven green shirts or there's ten green shirts and a step and fry all goes into the foot of Joviol. It's the

El's try to figure how to unlock the Sounders. Who goes to this left hand site to Nelson being a good pick up on that left hand side.

Speaker 23

You wouldn't seen Chapel Hill player in these moments. This is where I think Schwetz will want Rusnak to apply a little bit more pressure and Jordan to apply a little bit more pressure on a Poos to get the ball off of his feet quicker, because a galaxy start to gain some real estate here.

Speaker 6

Left hand side is pencil eighteen yards from the end line on that left channel close down by Alex rolled on towards his right foot, whips in towards the backstick, bounces through goal kick Sounders here in the thirty seventh minute's nil nil Western Conference Final Sounders.

Speaker 7

So far, so good, it's the galaxy.

Speaker 6

You're gonna have the questions as look down, Pooge and pencil talking with each other, a little.

Speaker 7

Bit of frustration.

Speaker 6

Well, Brad, that's exactly what you want to see when you're green shit.

Speaker 23

Yeah, of course, And that's credit to the Sounders plans. And I that was you know, what Schmetzer wanted is how can we make poohs lives life miserable? And I think what he's gonna try and do now is push a little bit higher and force Royson and Surreal to defend a little bit.

Speaker 6

And Posh kind of.

Speaker 23

Has to if he wants to take over this game. He's gonna have to find moments where he gets the ball higher up the field because it's doing no good for him to just be behind behind the Sounders block of ten and try to create something. Sounder's too tight defensively for him to unlock it right now look like a handball.

Speaker 6

On Poosh picked the ball up. They'll slapping the back of the head by Alex roll Don doesn't want that is Poosh sounds that possession with ruzneck middle of the park, thirty five yards from McCarthy's goal.

Speaker 7

They'll put a pressure from Royce goes.

Speaker 6

To Vargas square five yards too new tucked in from my left backs ball, A little flick of the foot finds Georgie left hand sid trust to go around yamany you minded is a good job he knew. Just blast into the crowd trying to take a nick Offiamani to win the throwing. Missed your money from two yards and it's gonna be a throwing for La Galaxy on their right hand.

Speaker 23

Soid oh, that's okay. And now you see Peck having to come and double down on Georgie. And that's what Georgie provides going forward, is just even if he doesn't make the play every time, you can't be the guy who all of a sudden takes a chance, decides not to get back and he does make the play. So credit to Georgie making Peck play. And now this is where the Sounders out to be good with the.

Speaker 6

Ball, ResNet left corner of the box, tries to find Morris, ball bounces around, picks up again by ResNet. It almost goes down, almost legs caught by referee Drew Fisher gives the foul. It was outside the box, but it was barely outside the box. It was a tangle of legs. Yamanni got into some trouble. Referee let it slide for a split second, brought it back. It's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders just outside the eighteen d bucks on the Sounders left hand side.

Speaker 23

Yeah, we don't get a good look at this one. And like you said, it's almost like someone dove in there and looked like it could have been a PK. And Albert knew it right away and got kicked in the ankle. Is still feeling the effect right now. And now the service has to be on on these set pieces. Albert's had two corner kicks, so hit the near post and this one's gonna be straight on. I think it's gotta go over the wall, dipping down, just aim for that far post. A little skip on this wet grass.

Make the right runs and this one could find the back of the net. Get the services on well McCarthy you mentioned that can be vulnerable defensively.

Speaker 6

Can Galaxy McCarthy's second most saves in MLS this season. Can the Sounders test the Galaxy goalkeeper standing on his line the Galaxy back line just eight yards or so from that goal ball just outside the aging yard Bucks in the left corner of the egen yard Bucks, it's gonna be a Rusnack whips.

Speaker 7

And towards that front stake.

Speaker 6

Good saved by McCarthey. It was angling towards that top corner. Mccarfey dove to his right, tipped it over the top corner kick Sounders remains nil nil, but almost Brad Evans.

Speaker 23

Catches him out. That's a fantastic strike. As we look at the goal from behind, I don't think it's going in. McCarthy gets a hand on it. Most likely going to hit the post there, but the keeper has to make a save to push that one up and over the bar, otherwise that ball comes smashing down. But we'll take an effort there from Rusnack. We don't often see players go up and over the wall to the near post there. That's your most difficult free kick to hit Neil Neil.

Speaker 6

Forty first minute, Sounders have a corner. This sign on the sound is right, it's gonna be an outswinger. The right foot of Rusnick going on up in the air, Sounders making their runs.

Speaker 7

Bull gets played in towards the p case.

Speaker 6

What bounces through to Vargas the top of the bucks in possession drives it across Hicks up easily by McCarthy. How a bad bull from vog guess to just skip by number of the white shirts couldn't find a green shirt thence goal. Kip has the bull.

Speaker 23

You see the intent there from oh Bed just get that one on the ground through traffic and maybe it takes a deflection or two, or or maybe a Sounder takes a chance and making a near post run. Well done for the Sounders. Better service from Rusnak and this half has flown by right, We're only four minutes until the forty fifth minute comes upon us and the Galaxy.

We'll have to go at halftime and figure out how are they going to break down this Sounders defense because it hasn't worked out with who's dropping sixty seventy yards from the sounder's goal trying to make the game. From there, it's gonna have to come from someone else, some other combination on the field.

Speaker 6

Well spend like it matches by supporting by park and diverse owned businesses all year long. Visit intentionalists dot com to find business near you. Six shots on six shots for the Galaxy. Only one of those shots on target. That was the saved by Stephan Fry that looked like he was just trickling towards the right hand side, but step and Fry to shift his feet make them save. Galaxy have the ball this time with Peck who's coming deeper on that right hand side.

Speaker 7

And as the minute to tick.

Speaker 6

By the scorers score remains goalless as it does right now. That's going to build the anxiety for the Galaxies they try to make their first MLS Cup in ten years. It's really exactly how the Sounders would have written this one up. Be strong defensively, can you test the Galaxy? They've done that are their four shots in this first half. Three of those epen on target. Forced McCarthy to make some kind of safe because Nelson has it, rolls it to pooshe the left hand side. It's a pencil challenged

by Dela Vega just holding him up. Good defending by the Sounders. It's defending by committee as players come across, the likes of Pencil and Peck, and then the chick giveaway by Pooshe Sounders pick it up middle of the park with de la Vega flicks it out to the far side the left to Georgie off his chest, brings it down. Challenge by Garsas drops his shoulder, comes inside, lill tow by Garces does a good job.

Speaker 7

Soreo comes across, just nudges Georgia to the deck. George is down holding his hip.

Speaker 6

I don't see if, of course, no reason to knock the ball out. Greg Vanny just encourages his team to go forward. Now this is where the conversation with Precky a few weeks ago comes into play. Right, Georgia gets his opportunity, and then it's just about decision making. You've got all the physical attributes in the world to do what you want to do, but if you don't do them in the right times, none of that stuff's map.

Speaker 23

None of that stuff matters at the end of the day. That's a fantastic tackle there from neu who on Peck.

Speaker 6

That's a real challenge. Right there was a ball from the center of the park outs a Peck. He took off his chest trying to knock it around. Knew who knew who makes great challenge, timed it perfectly.

Speaker 7

I look at the replay. Hits goes down, wins the ball.

Speaker 6

Peck's left foot just gets caught up a little bit in the turf and in he knew Who's leg up on the backham his feet he is and the Galaxy have it at the foot of your mine. He tries to regle free good defending again by new who throwing four the Galaxy just a couple of yards from the corner.

Speaker 7

Flag right for the assistant referee.

Speaker 6

Ball does g your miney towards the end line, back to Peck. Challenge by Georgia New. Sound is defending well so far in this game. As Peck picks it up, clips it across the eighteen yard books to Nelson off his chest, brings it down, rolls it to Pooshe thirty yards from goal. Stripe by Poosh test Stephen Freid. In the end, it was a comfortable save by the Sound as goalkeeper Poosh took a rip from about twenty five thirty yards.

Speaker 7

Easy for Stephen Fry. You could see what Poosh wants to do.

Speaker 23

It's either going to be a shot from distance or it's Peck coming in on that hard angle ball. And the galaxy right now look like the Sporting Kansas city of a few years ago, where the where the front three just really flew at you and you knew that anytime a center midfielder got the ball, each of the outside midfielders is always looking for that diagonal run in behind.

Speaker 6

Well, that's a refereence, halftime whistle. Absolutely no time to speak of. There barely a second or two, but there was no delays. Nil nil at halftime. A couple of say by Fry, a couple of says by McCarthy, but no goals. Read the team in this Western Conference.

Speaker 23

Your final thoughts, Yeah, not too much in this one in the first half. But it was a chess chess match to start this one, and the Sounders about twenty twenty five minutes seemed to build their way into this one. Heedereddin the viga with a couple of chances, Manougle on the opposite side beating his defender, but just the final

product lacking for both sides in this first half. So hopefully second half Sounders make some adjustments and they figure out a way to get in behind and put something on trame that's gonna test McCarthy.

Speaker 6

Well, don't leave us. We'll take a short break. Jackson Felts calm Rowe Pete viewing. Hopefully had some tea at half joined the first half. Gloody back to break it all down halftime Here at Dignity Hell Sports Park in Carson, California is the Galaxy Nil Sounders nil.

Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.

Speaker 2

Forty five minutes in the books in the West Final and it's Sounder zero La Galaxy zero.

Speaker 3

We've talked about how this is the best.

Speaker 2

Defense in MLS against maybe one of, if not the best offense in MLS excluding Miami, of course, and right now it's the unstoppable force versus a movable object, and the movable object of the Sounders defense is getting the job done with a zero zero game at the half. Jackson Feltz Calen Rowe viewing here for the halftime show. Callen opening thoughts on the first forty five minutes.

Speaker 4

It's quality. We're being very compact. I think in that defensive area that they're getting frustrated. Ricky huge asdelling at his players. Pencil and Peck aren't getting the chances to go one on one, to have the space to run. And I think that's quality from the back line Christian Rolldon and then Ovid Vargas. But I do want them to find a way to get forward. The set pieces

were there. We had five corner kicks as well as a good free kick from Aberusnak, But can we find Jordan Morris streaking behind on the earlier side, not just on cross around the box.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I'm with you, Kellen. I feel like Seattle has done a really good job. They've had a couple of good chances. We've had good crosses from both sides. Georgia Miningo's gotten in three or four and Pedro delve de la Vega has gotten in some from the right hand side as well, and we're in the same spot we were last week at this time. Now zero zero at LA and it was the second half, you know. So

now it's a forty five minute game. Brian Schmetzer will be pleased because I think they wanted to get through the first fifteen minutes. This team has gotten fifteen goals in three playoff games. So now it's a forty five minute game. They're into the rhythm of the game. They know how good they are. They have frustrated them, as Kellen has said. So now it's forty five minutes and there's no pressure on Seattle. Yeah, except in that locker room that they're going to put it on themselves.

Welcome back to the Sounders FC halftime show of the Western Conference Final Sounder zero La Galaxies zero down at Dignity Health Sports Park. This copyrarded audio cast on Major League Soccer. Man I'll be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. You know, I think that we said it at the end of the pregame show, where you know there's a psychological advantage here for the Sounders and that they've played a lot

of close games. Galaxy played a lot of blowouts, so close game right now advantage Sounders in that psychological sense. But Pete, you were talking about how we're in the same place as we were one week could go down at LAFC. I would say this Sounder team has had more chances, they have more confidence, more opportunities than the first forty five at LAFC. Callen, I like the way the Sounders are playing right now. I like the way it shapes up the longer that this game sticks to zero zero.

Speaker 4

I agree, But there's going to be changes at halftime, right both in the Seattle sense of kind of locking things down, making sure all the little stuff is out of the way, you know, little balls that we could have gotten damaged for, but we ended up having some good tackles. I remember Nathan on one of them, but the other side as well, and so La galaxy is going in there. Okay, how can we open these guys up?

How can we create more space for these guys, for Peck to run at someone, for Paintal to run at someone, to get to get Royce on the ball at some point. So you know, you can't just go out and say, okay, let's just do the same thing again, because that's not how things work at all. So can you take that first two to five minutes to lock yourself down, make sure it's all in front of you, and figure out what those changes have been?

Speaker 3

Pete keys to the second half?

Speaker 5

Well, often we have gotten Tooth down the wing right and gotten in some quality crosses. Can we get more numbers through the box, and can we get at least Albert coming through someone gett into the near post.

Speaker 4

And a better run Yeah, and a better better run take chances.

Speaker 5

As well, Yeah, so and more of the same. Defensively, I think we've played within ourselves. I don't think We're feeling the pressure as much as la is as the half went on, So more of the same, but a little bit of quality and don't try to do too much.

Welcome back Sounders fans to Carson, California. The lights are out, the phones are out. We've got a rave. As Brad Evans mentioned before the game, will the halftime show as well. Nil nil between Sounders and the Galaxy in this Western Conference Final, all to play for in this second half, Sounders I've done exactly what they were testd to do.

Absorb the attack of the Galaxy early in the early parts of the game, build out Sounders had some opportunities to test McCarthy from set pieces, and a couple of times they got in behind with the runs of Jordan Morris, but no score. That's going to be the game, Alex. You're gonna have to solve this problem. Against Minnesota and Colorado they didn't face much of a test defensively, but in this half, the first half and certainly in the second half, you can have to find a way to

break the Sounders down. So far, so good for Brian Schmetz. So the team is make that way out in the field.

Speaker 7

Brad, what's Brian Schmtz has said to his men a half time.

Speaker 23

Well, I think it's a case of the Sounders just being a little bit more decisive in their decision making going forward in the final third. Defensively perfect, it's played into the Sounders' hands. I just talked to my former agent who's been an agent in this league forever, and he said, Hey, the Sounders have a great game plan tonight.

If sore pressure as much as you can, don't give up too much going forward, and then if you can catch them by that good decision making, like I said, the Sounders will find themselves on top in this one because it's going to force the Galaxy to have to go and that opens up more room for the Sounders. It's all about possession and finishing your chances.

Speaker 7

Yeah, Sounders were classified as the underdog coming in here. You actually haven't made an MLS cut.

Speaker 6

So it's twenty fourteen and since that time and joined Brian Schmetzer's reign, Sounders have made four MLS cups.

Speaker 7

Looking for their fifth MLS Cup. We now know who the opposition will be of the the New York Red Bulls, so change for the Galaxy.

Speaker 6

Straight off the halftime, Markey Delgado comes on. Marco Royce comes off the field pretty in effective in our first forty five minutes. Delgado's had a really good career across MLS. Of course, it's followed Greg Bannet and Toronto are out to la. He comes on the field, had a bit more bounce in the middle of the park. But here we go Sounders and their anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts, blue socks.

Speaker 7

They're attacking the gold to our left. The Galaxy in the traditional all white jerseys, attacking the gold to our right.

Speaker 6

For this second half, the Sounders find that one opportunity called putting the ball in the back of the net. It was to Morris last week in overtime football in the top corner. Couldn't find a bit of magic. Today, ball goes out to Georgie through the legs of Rman He good play by Georgie, then through the legs of Peck, cleaned up by Garsas on the back line for the Galaxy.

Pressed now by Christian rolled on del Garda gets his first meaningful touch, rolls aback to Yoshid who clips the ball towards pencil farst side the left, picked up by Pooh driving forward, Chase down and harried by Vargas. Good play by Bargas just did enough as he kind of nibbled it the heels of Pooge and he put the ball out of play on this near side for a Sounder's throw. But that's exactly the frustration Poohe has been feeling throughout this game.

Speaker 23

Brett, Yeah, and I think I think the substitution of Delgado coming in this one will provide the Sounders with a little bit more to deal with in the middle of that park. I think it was too easy. Marchael Royce obviously, his his history as a was fantastic and he's got the ideas, but he just certainly doesn't have the legs anymore. And if the Galaxy aren't on the front foot for a solid forty five minutes, Marco Royce really has no point to being on the field because

his defending is non existent. So the Galaxy are saying, we can't we can't afford to have Royce on the pitch right now with the way that the Sounders are playing. You got to bring on someone with a little bit more athleticism. It comes to the Galaxy, of course.

Speaker 6

It was the first five minutes or so in the second half where lafc found that goal. We'll give the way by new top the box with del Godda towards his left foot. Strikes are just wide and high and he missed up top corner.

Speaker 7

It's gonna be a goal.

Speaker 6

Kicking the Sounders here early in the second half. Nil nil, But that's where the Galaxy can punish you.

Speaker 7

She'd give away by the Sounders. Good stripe by Delcaud.

Speaker 23

What are your tom as the defenders never to head that ball back into the mix. You rather play it out for a throw in and have the Galaxy take a ball from there and seaid it falls to Delgado cuts inside and that view from behind. He's not too far off off in that one to see the intent from new who but that one he's got to be that veteran player and just say sending it clear is better for us in the long run.

Speaker 6

Sounds the foot of Delavega chasing the ball down grossnak has it now picked up by the sound is just inside. They're attacking half the field and then trying to find Della Vega. Galaxy cleaned it up. Interesting clearance by McCarthy, just loops it up into the air. Sounders pick up. We split second picked up the second ball. Then Pencil comes back gets fouled by Della Vega. It's been a little bit careful. It's been a couple of niggaly fouls by Dela Vega. Won the first half and that in

the second half. We'll see how long Pedro lasts in this game. Is it's a pet that's coming across to get a quick spray of the leg from the physics spray, magic spray, cold spray.

Speaker 7

It pick's been a little bit of sorts.

Speaker 6

Pencil's being busy but hasn't really had too much joy in the left hand side as walled ones out a great up so far containing and he's a Poosh asking for Pat to stay wide. As soon as you see a player like Poosh slapping his hands on his thighs and getting frustrated, you know the sounders doing exactly what they should be doing.

Speaker 23

Or he spent the past fifty minutes throwing his hands in the air complaining about every single player he's one toward, lost a ball a couple of times with silly passes, and now again he's throwing up his arm saying this player did say, oh here in this big of a game, I'm not sure that you can afford to do that.

I think you need everyone bought into one system. And you saw Georgia give the ball way early in this one with knew who up in the corner, and the first thing knew who did was give my high five. Next play, next play, next play. That's what you want to see out of the leaders on your field.

Speaker 6

Well, Discount Tire, I get thirty percent short of average weight time when you pay in book online at discount tire dot com. First half went flew by barely a second of delay. Now the ball in behind with Jordan alright fans ball top corner of the box with his right foot, rolls it out to the Alex rolled on It comes inside to Vargas square five yards to Christian Roller middle of the park. Rolls it out to this near side to Georgie. Had some joy in the last

couple of attempts against your money. Bull goes in headed up and away by Yoshida. It's the foot of Jordan Morris. Cushion ball out to the right hand side to Alex rolled on. Sound has got some good concerted pressure out in the attacking third of the field. Goes to Fargas towards the end like good play. Just clips it in towards the back post, headed by no strike by Rozick, just crops his lines. It comes pack now as he wraps his arm around it. No foul given by Drew Fisher.

Good call by the referee. Peck, you didn't have the pace to get by trying to drag his arm around. Christian rolled on him, continues sound as that possession. That's one of the more interesting ones.

Speaker 23

Both players fortunate to not give up at there, and Peck tries to get his body in front and prison just reads that one and gets gets out in front. It's a foul for both players and the refereesas play on or Peck's.

Speaker 6

Struggling came across the sideline for some cold magic spray sixteen goals, fourteen assists on his regular season campaign, penful of goals. In the last game, it looks like he's hobbling around. He doesn't look comfortable at all. See how much longer he will last? Ball goes into Rosnack, breaks the line, rolls it out to this near side the left to Georgie, challenged by Yamant.

Speaker 7

He will step over just Georgie, He'll be defending by the.

Speaker 6

Japanese international Yamanic crowd.

Speaker 23

Like that.

Speaker 6

Pouge two arms up in the air on the far side of the field, ask him for the ball. Sound as compact in their defense aren't allowing the ball to shift now. It goes out to del Garda, picked up well by Jordan Morris.

Speaker 7

Eventually, Drew Fisher puts the whistle to his mouth right in.

Speaker 6

Front of the challenge I Jordan. Jordan can't believe he was a It's gonna be a free kick for the Galaxy.

Speaker 23

It looks like Jordan actually steps in front of Delgado. On this one, Dolgatta takes a touch backwards and I'm not sure why that's a foul. Dog Gotta takes a bad touch and has already fallen over. Yeah, you feel some pressure from Jordan, and Jordan a little bit unlucky, tries to plete his case to Drew Fisher and he's not hearing it well.

Speaker 6

Sound As FC Socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner Sounders FC fifty second minute Here Carson, California and Nail nil Western Conference Final. Gabrielle Peck, the Brazilian Newcomer of the Year, gets the ball, trys to go around Knew, who has just locked him down so far? Best one would you one defender in the league against one of the best wingers in MLS this year so far?

Let's say Knew, who has won every single round. It comes Pedro Dela Vega, she hasn't played in He does tovagas inside the eighteen yard books clips up up the challenge of Gosss into the hands of McCarthy, the Galaxy goalie, and now the Galaxy will come again but again good incisive played by the sounderside.

Speaker 23

That's the first time we've seen Pedro de la Vega do the exact right thing on that far side in that moment is to take patal On, make him defend, and he cuts inside. It's a fantastic ball with his left foot that finds Obed Vargas, and Obed has just been different level lately, his touch and the ability to keep that ball glued to his foot. Fortunately it takes a little deflection there. The sounder's doing all the right things. The start of this second half.

Speaker 7

All Peck drops the shoulder, comes inside.

Speaker 6

Last week he would go on the outside because he had the betcher of his defender. Today he already feels that new who's got the better of him. He's going to play defensively, and that's exactly what you want as an outside back. As soon as that winger drops the shoulder, comes inside and goes backwards with the pass. I know you have the better of it. But here he is now with Peck towards the end line. It goes as

sir to market. Delgado comes off a sliding Jackson Reagan over the endline corner Kit Galaxy whomains Neil Neil Prenevans.

Speaker 23

Yeah, I'm well done from the Sounders defending there and the Galaxy finally with some sustained pressure and possession and Poosh able to pick up the ball player first pass forward to break a couple of lines.

Speaker 6

White towers are flying. Poor ball by Poohs try to go short to pet gets cleared by russneck I was only the second corner kick of the game for the Galaxy, five corner kicks for the Sounders. So Sounders, so far I've had the chances from set pieces remains nil nil. Delgado has a middle of the park crowd to our left, singing, waving flax, trying to get behind their team New York Red Bulls waiting for the winner. They will travel west. Neither the Sounders or the Galaxy will host MLS Cup.

So far, Sounders game plan is playing out exactly how Bryan Schmitzer would have scripted it. La Vega gets Patsau, that's gonna be a yellow card pick. Ella Haga got a couple of those little high five by Rosnack because pedgro del Vega jugs across the field back in position, and you gotta think Bryan Schmidt.

Speaker 23

Said, we'll remembering that though Brett, Yeah, look, you're you're sixty yards away from your goal halfway just stomp on the defenders leg. And that's one that's been coming all game for Pedro. De la Vega set a couple you thought maybe the refere would bring out the yellow card, but he kind of just waits a waiting game at that point as a player, thinking all right, how much

can I get away with? And now Pedro it's just gotta be a little bit smart that he doesn't put himself in a position where he's got a chase and pull down a jersey.

Speaker 6

Well goes in check scho Vega steps, well, wins the ball, plays a.

Speaker 7

Bat to roll down it forward. Jordyn Mourris's shoulders, shoulders are right, a nice job.

Speaker 6

Gusses falls to the deck, tries to flick it down the line to Georgie Bassis, recovers, rolls it back choice goalkeeper mccafee.

Speaker 23

Well, you can see all the coaches now screaming at Georgie to get back that unnecessary run to put McCarthy under pressure. And this is the decision making that you're talking about. He sees that Jordan has the ball, he back to goal. That's what Georgie has to say, Jordan, keep it, keep it. He's got to be the one screaming because Georgia needs all the help that he can

on the field. And then he goes and does a thirty yards spread forward and no one else goes with him, and all of a sudden, the Galaxy can play out easy. It's those small decision making things he's got to find. Tune.

Speaker 6

Paul finds a right inside with Pack towards the endline. It goes to del Garda getting involved in the attacking third of the field since his introduction at halftime, much more active than Royce as pet trust A wriggle free of Georgie and Reagan plays his lions, but only to pooh, go square to your mind the top of the box, pull into yogol it bull bounces around top of the eighteen yard box, finds Pack, turns shot easily saved by step from frying. Keep tries in look to go long, quickly,

go short to roll down the right hand side. Alex, just moving forward, plays the ball into Dela Vega in the chance to get a breath As Della Vega plays it into Alex rolled on gets dragged down by a pencil. Easy fowls exactly what you won't get your winger to defend and make silly fowls freaking to the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Now we're done from the sunderser, and it's about keeping the ball on the right ballent and you thought that Pero de la Vega had a chance to play that ball back, but unfortunately Alex Roldan continues to run. The Sounder is able to now slow things down a little bit as the Galaxy found a good four or five minutes of sustained pressure.

Speaker 6

Well boll game back and forth hasn't give us a chance to give it that lineup coming out the second half of the Sounders.

Speaker 7

Let's give you that right now.

Speaker 6

Fry back Forth roll Don Nathan Reagan knew who Christian Rolldon and obed in the middle, de la Vega Roznak Minungo and then Jordan Morris up the top, slicked by. It's the fifty seventh minute, Neil nil here Western Conference Final, didn't you?

Speaker 7

Health Sports Carson, California.

Speaker 6

California ball comes in by New Tour, Jordan Morris headed down, easily managed by McCarthy as it rolls over the end line for a goal kick for the Galaxy. But yeah, not bad delivery by Knew who finds ahead of Jordan Morris just isn't able to guide his header on target.

Speaker 23

That's good delivery. As to watch that replay of Christian and Gabriel Peck going against up, it's a good delivery from new who there and Jordan finds the separation. He's just not able to generate any power and get that one on frame, throws his hand up, says sorry, move on to the next play.

Speaker 6

Sound is pushing and pressing now and then tacking half of the field. Now they'd let the Galaxy just have the ball with Pooge, but Usi and roll Dan stepping forward. You know the team's got a bit between their teeth when the defensive midfield players is able to track all the way towards the top of the eighteen yard box to close the ball down. Sounds feeling comfortable right now, defensive limit see what moves Brian Schwetz and makes off the bench ball not too much to do right now.

Sounds looking comfortable. Galaxy have possession. You Mini tucked him from that right black spot. Peck to his right gets it right hand side. Greg Fanny just down from us, barking out instructions, kind of figure out how to break down the Sounders back line. Ball full of pooge, pulls it in, cut out by role Don's collected and defended by the sound defense Georgie right in front of Greg Fanny.

Good decision, angry as they didn't step into Geordan Morrissey to collect the ball and roll it out to the far side the right Sounders go. Georgie got some space in the back line, and your money now comes back, connect it back up his back for sounds. Just slow the game down a little bit too long? How a chance Pencive goes down Drew Fisher gives no foul. Crowd don't like that sound? Is that possession? Or goes from center Jackson Reagan to this near side left a new

now off quick pass by Georgia. Newo's asking a little bit of help by Georgie.

Speaker 23

Georgie looking at little fatigues right now. And this is what we asked Metz about, is how how long compedro goal? How long can Georgia go? And that's where the tactical changes are gonna have to be made. Smart and you can already see Schmetz talking about Okay, if we're not getting that one on one with Georgie, something's got to change here.

Speaker 6

Is Georgia. Can it get one more burst of energy? Try and beat your mind. A little flick of their oint foot comes back to Neuhoe. Now to Jackson Reagan Shorts rolled on. It gets nudged the bat by Dolgado. Sounders have possession. Referee gives the advantage. Ball goes out to de la Vega. Down the line, it goes towards Alex Roldan. William Runner tlects the ball off Yoshidah for ricocheted deflection from his clear It's back to the foot of rolled On.

Speaker 7

Now in to Vargas.

Speaker 6

Pressure by Pooge from behind, just a shrug off the diminutive figure of Pooche gives it up. I'm not a bad place to give it up. As Wildan goes clattering into Pooge, it's going to a yellow carn and Christian rolled on. As Pooge's hits.

Speaker 7

Goes in behind my pencil, now closed down by Nathan, towards the end line. It goes just good defending by Nathan, just nips a pencil. Fargas goes down but only finds

the foot of Surio. Now out to your money and it's nearside the right aimless pulled towards Yoviolich trying to find his feet. Maybe skip through over the end line. It's gonna be goalkick for the Sounders and I'll be happy with that, Brett.

Speaker 23

I actually think it's a good ball if Yoolich and Yamana are on the same page where you already see poos screaming at his own teammate to give him the ball. He wants the ball every single time, and I mean there's a reason why. Right, he's the best player technically on the field, and he's the one that typically creates for them. But when that frustration starts to creep in, the decision making starts to go out the window, the

Sounders do well to defend. There one name we haven't mentioned in the second half pretty much at all, has been Nathan Right. There hasn't been too much for him to do, but win called upon. He's been in the right positions.

Speaker 6

He's new who down the left hand side, whips it in first time, clips off the heels. He's Jordan morris In's out the eighteen job to Usnik strikes it right down the cut. Mccaffy didn't really connect with it. I'm gonna figure out who's gonna place it or hit it with power didn't either. The Galla see Goldkin picks it up and launches it long quickly, peck challenging Roldan's is a great jump defending double headed by Roldan finds the foot of Reagan. Sounds have possession and.

Speaker 23

You look at new who here just shaking his head. I'm not sure what Rusnach is thinking. Here he goes for the inside foot when if you're away from goal, you got to hit that one with your laces as hard as you can. And we know historically Albert loves that inside of his foot. He's able to generate so much power. But Jordan sets that one on a platter, and that's just like shooting before the game. When it's

sitting there, you lace it. Put that ball on Frahim and make McCarthy at least make a make a diving save.

Speaker 6

Here's Vargas cross the halfway line to the foot of Rosnick getting more involved. Now connected to rolled on in Vargas. Here is Vargas back to Rosnik Georgie on the left hand side. We'll keep an eye on him to see how he will do us the next couple of minutes. No real movement from the Sounder's bench. We'll get you that bench all right now. Leo Chu, Tensio Baker, Bell, Thomas Yama, Leaver, Jao Paolo and then Ruy Diaz. Rudy has come and do some magic. What could be one

of his final games for the Sounders. Ball down the line to Alex Roldan cuts back, challenge by Nelson, goes.

Speaker 7

Back to Christian rolled on whipsiting on the six. Good ball.

Speaker 6

Good defending by Yoshida, picked up by Georgie on this near side, though well played by Georgie.

Speaker 7

Back to nwho puts his foot on the ball.

Speaker 6

Back to George, you got some time of space in his left channel, drops his shoulder, goes past your money towards the end line with the outside of his foot stays in bounds. Finds Dela Vega does a really nice job, dela Vega. So far, so good for de la Vega. Sixty four minutes nil nil. Sounders have possession in their attacking half of the field.

Speaker 7

Bargas rolls it out.

Speaker 6

To this near side to Neuho. Sounds by Peck. Bred Evans has mentioned exactly where you want. Peck and Pencil is hunkered down top of their eighteen yard box having to defend Sounder's game plan work into a treat.

Speaker 23

So far, you know, the patience here is what the Sounders have needed and it's paid off. Every time they've been patient with the ball, the right player has opened up. If the decision has made.

Speaker 6

You're played by rolled down Brett to play well. Peck gave it away. Sounders have it with Rosneck Ronch Mets on his feet, just orchestrating things from the sidelines, calm and composed. Big Fanny looking a little bit more fluster than Brian of anxiety.

Speaker 7

So I had to creep into the home. Crown bullgoes inside yr Marne, but defending by your mine. He goes body between Poland playing got nudge though by Georgie it's gonna be got a free kickoff goal kick.

Speaker 23

We'll wait and see remains Noll know, yeah, well, look, I mean it's an opportunity to put the Galaxy under more pressure. And as soon as you start sprinting towards your own goal, you got to make a decision. Unfortunate for the Sounder as it's a foul, but at the end of the day, you're forcing the Galaxy the I'll have to build out of the back instead of giving the ball away. Higher up the field, Sam.

Speaker 6

Just pressing again, high up the field, feeling good. There's Nathan powerful header beats Yovlich just as he did last week.

Speaker 7

It's Kai Kamara dominant in the air.

Speaker 6

Was Nathan's comfortable outing so far from Nathan, of course, he hasn't played nineteen minutes for.

Speaker 13

A long while.

Speaker 6

We'll see how long he lasts. Yemar Silk carrying an injury on the bench obviously for his leadership skills, but if needed called upon, can you get a few minutes out of Yamar to put a.

Speaker 23

Game to bed?

Speaker 7

Foul on far I guess there's a good job just absorbing pressure from Surio.

Speaker 23

It's just a veteran move from Fargas there to know that it's a top ball played in front of you. You're running parallel to the field and not many options in that situation. While Fargus just does a well to get a touch, feel the pressure, go down and win the Sounder's a free kick, slow play down just a little bit yet better and move.

Speaker 6

From a young kid still in this infancy of his soccer career. We'll see where his career takes him in the coming years. Of course, we hope they stays to the sounders. All goes Hi and set Jordan Morris just in behind him Rose and that picked up by rolled on flick it out to this nearside the left to Georgia ripped him in his left foot easily cleared by Gasis. It's a tired cross right there, and again Bryan Schmidtz is not looking to make any changes so far. Subs

down to our left. I just stood watching Sounders fans in full voice out towards our far left. But a sincere appreciation for all those Sounders fans coming in their numbers again. We were in La last week, LAFC either again today. It's always supporting their team, whether it's home or away. Rave Green is everywhere to be seen when we travel. Nathan's getting a little bit of fluid intake a little gel. Maybe just give myself a boost. There's Russneck down on the deck top of the H and

R boats. We'll see what's going on there. I could shift things up a little bit. We have JP on the bench, of course, we have root Pias on the bench. We have any labor an attentio who could be options as well.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I'm not sure what what happened.

Speaker 23

It didn't seem like there was anything that stuck out on the field, like a bump or anything. Almost looks like it might be like it said, oh, we're back seased up because it's not really moving all that much. Pooge's getting a little look at by his knee as well. It's at that point in the season, is it where guys just kind of start they're wondering what's going on. Poosie's got the Canisio tape on his quad, He's feel it in his knee.

Speaker 6

Whereas that continues to get some medical support by the Sounders staff top of the eighteen yard box, just lying on his back. Not much movement from Brusnat so worrying signed for Brian Schweizer and the Sounders has pointed to some kind of comedy's growing upper quad.

Speaker 23

Well, we remember in Houston it was that hip that kept him out of that playoff game, and luckily the Sounders had had here coming in the frame here you can see him just make a little move forward and then he kind of think says, that's it for me, I'm going down there. It looks like the same hip as before yep I kicked Malex Houston.

Speaker 6

He picked up that hip injury in Prentice just a couple of days before that game, still getting attention. Doesn't look comfortable at all. This copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. Sixty ninth minute, Carson, California, just out so La Glexy Neil Sounders nil Western Conference Final. Just to remind everybody your Red Bulls won the Eastern

Conference championship game. They will travel west and face one of these two teams. The Sounders reached their fifth MLS Cup in Brian Schmetz's era.

Speaker 7

Quite a remarkable feat.

Speaker 6

Solms continue to be incredibly successful and their playoff appearances. Brian Schmitz is sitting on top of the table in terms of winning percentage of all active coaches, and Rosnet made his way to the bench. JP now is getting summoned and on he comes. So we'll see how that jigs things up. If GP will sit where you think Goldn maybe slides up or Fargas, We'll see how it kind of shakes out here.

Speaker 23

I thought that Argus might take a step forward. Looks like maybe Pedro de la Vega go in as a ten, and like Schwetz said, he might be able to move Argos out wide. Right doesn't changed too much and Schetz seems to do that. He doesn't want to change too many pieces just to bring one guy on and credit to Schwetz, and I mean, what a fantastic player to bring on in JP into a game like this, A guy that has won before, shown his pedigree, he's got

that leadership, he's got the grit. And we're already seventy minutes into this one in the second half, yet twenty minutes ago nil nil. The sound is fine, not all important.

Speaker 6

Goal here comes to Galaxy now with pencil against Alex Shaw on full flow. His pencil driving towards the end like good defended by the sound, is easily collected by Fry and his near post. There's only Yogolitch, who was there in the inside the eighteen yard book. So Galaxy are feeling a bit of fatigue now as well, unable to get up there with pencil provide that support.

Speaker 23

Well, that's a name we haven't heard called a lot tonight is Joviolich. And he had that kind of half chance in the first half that he put just into Stephen Fry's right arm down to his right to make a save. It's safe for that the service hasn't been there as in games pass, and it's frustrating for a striker to be in that position and not get that service that you're so used to it and scoring fifteen goals on the season.

Speaker 6

Georgie has at left hand side thirty yards from the end line, just in front of the Sounders bench to delave A. Can he be influential in that number ten spot now he shifted from that right hand side to more of that number ten. Give him some license to float as he did against the gallop against LAFC last week. Jap is gonna be a sitting play in front of that back four. We'll see what Nathan has left in his legs as well.

Speaker 7

Because a big field.

Speaker 6

Here at La Sister re Threese flag on the far side goes up, it's gonna be an on side on the Sounders.

Speaker 7

On his feet and so it's technically are just barking out some instructions.

Speaker 6

Be interesting to see if Dela Vegas stays on the field how much longer he's got because tendency is that he typically comes out somewhere in the sixty to seventy minute mark. A couple of midfield players you mentioned in a tension labor and of course the rail.

Speaker 7

Could come on as well.

Speaker 6

But when it comes to Galaxy as well. Brilliant defending just nudges pooge off the ball, putting Pousa's face duo like Vargas or roll Dan this season. Brilliant defending by the sound is so far it comes. Pencil whips it in towards the backstick pet goes up. Good defending by No just heads it over the end line. Gould be a corner kick for the Galaxy. In the seventy third minute, nil Neil crowd are on their feet, white.

Speaker 7

Towels waving in the air.

Speaker 6

They want to see a goal.

Speaker 7

They want to get back to MLS.

Speaker 6

Cut Sounders and their green shirts are defending their goal right in front of Stephan fright this right hand side, it's gonna be Pooh whips it in with his right foot. Ball bounces up, headed away by rolled On, then by New and then by Morris, picked up by Nelson inside left position, goes to Jovilach. Sounders defending just a few yards outside the eighteen yard bucks Jordan Morris pressing surreal sounds comfortable to defend.

Speaker 7

Now, just absorb some pressure, take a breather.

Speaker 6

It's well done.

Speaker 23

From the Sounder's defending that said piece once again, all goes in behind.

Speaker 7

It's gonna skip through on this turf.

Speaker 6

Pet can't get there.

Speaker 7

It's gonna be a goal kip for the sounders, and the service was there.

Speaker 23

But you can see Poos walking with a little bit of a limp in his little gidde up in his step right now. Christian Rolldon on the play before there just able to track him down and really put him under pressure. And it doesn't look like Poosh is able to just get out of the situations that he normally is and Sounders have to take advantage of that.

Speaker 6

All the front of Yolis given away by new clips it in finds Pooh, top of the Hyad books goes to Yovils towards the end line. The old God is still in the deck. He was a nasty challenge and needless fouled by Dela vega 's to be a little bit cample. It's a yellow card or new it and the craft porter was in Dela Vega.

Speaker 7

He sits on a yellow card. He's gonna be new.

Speaker 23

It's a silly challenge.

Speaker 9

He knew who.

Speaker 23

He gets caught facing his own goal once again with just a silly one to give up from New Who, and then another one from day la Vega. He knew who's telling him he's only just facing away from goal. No reason to push there and give them a foul and a dangerous position. You get the crowd into it too, one of the crowd up on their feet down the loss. You want to give this team any advantage after playing your game plan.

Speaker 6

So well, fifteen minutes of regular time whenever the referee will add then we will have two fifteen minute of overtime if we get to that, and it will be settled tonight, so penalted after that.

Speaker 7

But right now, the Sounds have to defend this free kick fifteen yards from the end line, White Channel, Who's whips it in top of the six head.

Speaker 6

It cleared by Nathan and then hooked away by Georgie, fell on Georgie.

Speaker 7

By Nelson, who can have glided into the back of Georgie.

Speaker 23

Nathan took the worst of that one, as Yoh's coming in from about fifteen yards behind the play and gets up and just gladders into Nathan. I'm not even trying to play the ball in that situation.

Speaker 6

Knew who just getting a quick drink some energizing gel, potentially just to keep him going is had a great game so far against Peck. Peck's really not done anything in this game of any note. I'm so prolific in the last eight games or so. It's been eight consecutive games where he's had a goal or an assistant.

Speaker 7

So far.

Speaker 6

New coming back from illness after international duty with Cameroon missed last week. He's given you all clear to fly home so far. Put in a good shift here with seventy five minutes gone. Sound of stepping up the line. Free kick top of the box, cleared by Fry up the field towards Jordan Morris, who backs into Yoshida, picked up by the Galaxy and Pencil clips it from left to this near side the right headed by Peck but easily seen by Nudes clips it down the line well

as Yamani clatters into Georgie. Well played by Pega Dela Vega. Good play by Dela Vega. Just turn on a dime away from pressure, got knocked to the ground. It's gonna be a free kick for the sound as two Green shirts on the deck. Georgie got clattered into from behind.

Speaker 7

No feult given.

Speaker 6

I don't believe on that one, and I think it was maybe de la Vega's got ten yards in front of Georgie on this left hand side.

Speaker 23

Yeah, the first one your money comes in and just gives Georgie you a little forearm to the back of the head. And then Della Bega does the right thing. He gets in between the ball and the player and takes this fantastic just a little inside touch. There certainly a foul Unpack. He can complain all he wants. That's a foul all day long. Yeah, Brazilian on the Argentinian. But Sounders founds. If Sounders FC.

Speaker 6

Scores any time after the eighteenth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from Sharp Vision, Modern Lasic and lens. Sign up today at soundersfc dot com slash laser focus. What we hope So there'll be one more home match that would be next week in MLS cut Sounders if they win today, will host Neil Nil in this Western Conference file against the Galaxy.

Speaker 7

Tick.

Speaker 6

Towards the last ten minutes of the game, Georgie just do a quick little run up and down getting checked by a doctor's thumbs up by the doctor at a quick head check as his protocol now on potential concussion checks just being out absolutely sure.

Speaker 7

It's gonna be a free kick, and I think it was a concussion course.

Speaker 6

So Georgia will not have to stand on the sidelines for two minutes, which is a new rule we're in.

Speaker 7

To play on MLS this year.

Speaker 6

Just standing on the sideline sil Drew Fisher, referee, is not a signal for Georgia to come on. Fourth official is there, or comes in top of the six headed clear by the galaxy, picked up by the sound as Georgie is back on the field now standing on his left hand side, or goes from Alex rolled down inside. There's attacking half all the way back to Steph and Fry. Fatigue will be a factor, big field is this. There is the emotion, of course of playing in a conference

final for two sets of experienced players. Nelson plays it into del Gado. You're defending by Georgia coming back. He's got through that bit of fatigue that we thought he had, got to bounce in his step again. Now picks the ball, ups, flicks around the corner to Dela Vega, who's also putting a real good shift in.

Speaker 7

It's frustrates and the ball goes through.

Speaker 6

His legs by Yamani. We've got a pressure. As del Garda finds Cirio, who shifts the ball from center to left and now poushe finds it for a pencil. What's from space to run As he approaches the top of the box back into Nelson slides down, retains possession. Poosh has it thirty five yards from Gold goes square across the field to Yamani. This near side the right picked up by del Garda. Right side of the box goes to Yogots goes into pat to prush. Good block by Nu.

He threw himself in front of the ball, arms behind his back, ricochets off the Sounder's left back for a thrown.

Speaker 7

On this near side.

Speaker 23

Yeah, and the Sounders have to be careful now with La Galaxy putting so many numbers forward. And that's the one you don't want. You don't want Georgie defending one on one in open space. Newho's got to come and help out Georgie to make sure that he provides that defensive cover. In the end, it's a great block from new who the galaxy is starting to pick out some spots because you don't have to see paincil or Peck gets something in these games unless they're up three or

four nothing. These are guys that could go the complete ninety minutes, plus fit players. I want to put the ball in the back of the net. So the Sounders front three are gonna have to defend, just like the Galaxy front three have defended all night.

Speaker 7

Yeah, we'll see how pooge lass.

Speaker 6

He's had come across the sidelines a couple of times to get his knee checked. Sounder is now making a little change. Potentially Ralridie is getting some instructions on the sidelines. Let's quick sniff of the smelling salts. It's gonna be ral Roediez. We'll see if it's gonna be potential De la Vega will see who comes out. I thought it would be, of course that Jordan Morris. Maybe it's Georgie will come out. Jordan's loins to the left, roul up front.

Speaker 23

See what Brian does.

Speaker 6

But here comes the Galaxy farst side the left with pencil approaches eighteen yards from the end.

Speaker 7

My left channel wiggles free towards the end.

Speaker 6

Ninety goes. Let's track down battle trolk on outside the box, free kick for the Galaxy just a couple of yards from the end line. Chance for the Galaxy to put some delivery in from the set piece. Alex is asking more from Christian here. He kind of isolates Christian and then comes back to Alex. Fortunately fouls what he does outside the box. This is a dangerous position here for the Galaxy. It's gonna be a sub. It's gonna be Petro de la Vega. He's gonna go off the field,

slowing things down. Referee's asking to Bes to be careful. I think they have ten seconds to get off the field.

Speaker 4

Now.

Speaker 6

Ral comes on first. Thing Rail's gonna have to do is help his team defend this free kick for the Pooge down that left hand side, It's gonna be an inswinger with his right foot.

Speaker 7

Sound is just packing in that near post.

Speaker 6

Two men walled in, Reagan and Manungo using all of that six foot five frame of Jackson's to block out sending ten yards away. It comes Poosh, whips it in, deflected and then hook clear by Raoul. He steps up and play by the Sound as good defending. As they step up that line and sit just five yards outside of their eighteen yard boxes. Peck has it right in front of the Galaxy bench, so Sirio to Pooh, he continues to be active, But I don't think of any

note in the checking third for Pooge. Is it really tested Stefan Freud.

Speaker 23

See the expected goals kind of flint flopping now in favor of the Sounders, and then at halftime. Samas have done a good job this second half and maintaining possession. A couple of decent half chances in this one, But I don't think either either keeper really tests it all that much. Tonight Pedro de la Vega again going eighty minutes, probably a little longer than what we expected, but I

think that's a credit to the Sounders game plan. The outside mids didn't have to do too much defending tonight. It was about the Sounders being in the right place at the right time, and you're putting in a good shift to go eighty minutes. He'll be disappointed to come off, but as we talk with Schmetz, you know, it's a question of if you can go sixty seventy eighty. It was a decent shift tonight from Pedro.

Speaker 6

Yep. They'd work on both sides of the ball, of course, sitting in a yellow card as team players get fatigued. It's when you can make some silly mistakes. It gave away a foul just a couple of minutes ago, so maybe it's a good protection on that as well. Poush has its center the park, comes out to Yamani, brolls it out to this near side to Peck. Challenged by New who's had Peck's number this game. Poush has it trye to do a reverse ball challenge well by Vargas.

Clip of the outside of the right foot across the far side to Nelson, back to Yoshid. The Sounders defending top of their eighteen yard box. Eighty fourth minute Neil Neil Western Conference Final MLS Cup on the line.

Speaker 7

Here New York Red Bulls waiting for the winner. Oh, that could be foul.

Speaker 6

That's gonna be interesting. It was I've seen this one, given it was new we were trying to clear his lines.

Speaker 23

We've seen this one against the Sounders this year against Yamar and it was.

Speaker 6

That Peck that just jumped in front, nicked the ball away and it was a follow through A knew who that clipped Peck. The game has stopped the referee is gonna have a little listening to his earpiece.

Speaker 23

But he seems to be pretty certain as that ball was played. That's the toughest position to be and I think it's a misplayed pass by Jordan in the end, thinking it's gonna go to Georgia. That's up going to new who sot to get away with one.

Speaker 7

Yeah, so far true, Fisher has not done anything. He's whistle in his mouth.

Speaker 6

Nothing given. Good call by the referee, at least if you're a Sounders fan. Rick Famley thought he was a certain foul as he fell to his knees right in front of us. All goes into Jordan. Jordan's now shifted to that left hand side, Fargas now sitting behind ral Reedis's up front. Georgie has shifted to the right at shift up the midfield, attacking three.

Speaker 7

Sounders in possession. Looking comfortable so far.

Speaker 6

Until the final five minutes of the ninety whatever the referee will add on.

Speaker 7

There's been a couple of stoppages.

Speaker 6

In this first half, notably for Rosnek, who went down looked like maybe a reoccurrence of his hip injury that had picked up before the Houston game. Sloppy giveaway from the Sounders. Pooche has it, rolls it into Yoga's top of the box.

Speaker 16

Back to the doll.

Speaker 6

There was a sloppy giveaway by the Sounders and there was yogol it. She took full advantage. I put the ball in the bottom corner to put.

Speaker 23

The Galaxy up one nil, and the Sounders there in back, just two complacent on the ball. They think nothing's gonna hurt of and it's Alex Oldan getting caught with a one touch pass that's supposed to be playing on the ground else bouncing goes over JP's head. And then all of a sudden, it's a smart run by Jovolich as Poosh picks up this ball and a giveaway from Alex. Here it is a little one two touch. It's poos a little slip ball behind. Nathan could do nothing except

Chase goes near posts. Stephen Fry gets a hand on it. And that's unfortunate for the Sounders to give up a goal like that, and that late in this game, and you really had it at least to send this one into overtime.

Speaker 6

The sound has done everything right in the first eighty five minutes and slight misplayed pass from that right hand side and it was poosh to Jovolitch and the Galaxy taking the lead four minutes ago. Ninety Sounders. You need to get going.

Speaker 7

They need to find a way back into this game.

Speaker 6

Here they come Jordan Morice just look a little bit dejected or on east to find a bounce in his step. We need Jordan Morris.

Speaker 22

We need Raoul.

Speaker 6

Can Raoul do something special here on his final away games for the Sounders, potentially as a white flags fly. The noise is built up again here a Dignity Health Sports Park. Don't leave us at the end of the game, whenever that might be Jackson, Kellen and Pete. We'veack to break everything down when the Sounders fine some kind of magic here in the final minutes, ball goes out to the right hand side to Georgie Alex rolled on overlap. Georgie Goes, gets nudged off the ball by pencil. Quick

defending by Pencil goes over the end line. Goalkick remains one nil as they try and kill some clock. As Raoul runs away, runs across strets to pick up the ball, and I think rather there's gonna be a good amount of time. We're seeing another change now. Leo Chruth for his first appear spearance for the Sound is in a good while. He's gonna come on the field for Alex Rolldom.

We'll see if the Sound is shifted to a three, we'll play Leo and one, soit Georgia and the other potentially three back system.

Speaker 23

Yeah, the sounders are gonna have to throw everything at the Galaxy now. They'll go with two up top with Jordan and Raoul. This is where the ball has to go wide and the service has to be good. But like you said, they'll get a decent amount of stoppage time here. Well maybe only three or four minutes to be honest, and that's just the dagger for the sounders. But at this point you gotta go.

Speaker 6

You gotta go.

Speaker 23

Look like a four to two four.

Speaker 6

Yeah, Christian Rodal shifted to that right hand soight it'll be asked to go food when if he gets a chance. Sound has nothing to lose. It down one nail against the Galaxy, question and comference final and the Sound is fine a goal to put themselves at least in two overtime. Raoul and Jordan playing up front together brad Evans mentioned flat four up front right now loud inside the stadium as the home fans try to get behind their team

gets her first MLS comes in twenty forty. Make them the Sounders who Leo Chu can he wriggle Free is then able to pick it up. Sounders have it still. The foot of Christian rolled on top of the box, drives forward inside the eighteen yard box cleared by Nelson

and Pencil picks up the clearance triser. Wriggle Free three Sounders players around, is able to poke the ball the way to Pooh now or clips it to this near sight del Gard who rolls it out to Peck pactually definitely have a bit between their teeth now trying to find their second goal. All goes to Peck, rips it in comfortable for Stephan Fry, able to collect it just the yard or so off its goal line, rolls it out to JP.

Speaker 23

Like I said, this the difference in the front three for the La Galaxy, right, you got packed Pencil still willing to go at eighty five eighty six minutes and on the flip side for the Sounders it's Georgie just doesn't have enough in the tank and enough games under his belt this year to really make an impact going forward. And then you got Pedro who put in a good ship but just night open to give that extra gear and really produce something on the offensive end.

Speaker 6

Well, definitely disappointing way to give it that goal, so solid defensively, no foul given by the referee, crowds asking for a foul is Nathan bundled into pencil. Six minutes about a time, plenty of time for the Sounders. They have it left side with Leo Chu will pass the nineteen minute mark. So now the clock takes through on

the stadium clock. Six minutes for the sound is to find something we've seen magic happen before the men in green bull guests whipped it headed, cleared by gassas pigture by Cirio.

Speaker 7

He's able to turn out a pressure well.

Speaker 6

Cry to move. Now it's a pencil in behind the back line of the Sounders. Goes pencil inside the eighteen yard box. No support by pencil, just webset across lily. Six yard box misses the far post, goes over the end line. Goal kick Sounders. Now the Sounders come again, swe back and forth Brett.

Speaker 23

Yeah, and the Sounders are pushing Nathan on the top. I'll tell you what in Houston is finishing was top at the end of training. And the Sounders can find a way to isolate get that ball wide. He's won every single header in the air so far tonight. That's got to be your target. When the balls inside the box.

Speaker 6

Sounders have it middle apart with Vargas. Now Sounders need to go forward.

Speaker 7

He needs to be patient. We've got time.

Speaker 6

Five minutes to go. We need to find a goal. Now, let's just try to find some space to get some decent delivery. And this ball goes in. It's a new treasure wiggle three little cushion ball, headed clear, pulled down. Foul given by the Sounders. Now it's gonna be a change. We had Brugmann come on for Joval Lichority try and lock down that midfield, and now it's gonna be Joseph Pencil walks off the far side. It's gonna be for Gundes.

Diego for Gundes, experienced player. It's gonna good. Come on and try and see this game out for the Galaxy. Four minutes to go for the Sounders to find something here, in this Western Conference Final.

Speaker 7

Becushion headed by Vargas sounders have it.

Speaker 6

Could defending by Nathan. Referees to stop it. It came in the face Drew Fisher doing nothing. Referee Nisa stop it's a head injury. But here comes for gunness top corner of the box, wriggles out of pressure. There you go, Greg Vanny's even saying it to the fourth official down below us Ted uncle, you have Drue Fisher, Ted Uncle three. Fisher was barely a couple of yards away. It didn't stop the play. I'm not sure where Drew was sleeping there.

Speaker 23

It clearly comes off of Nathan's head. Goes down holding his head. You know, if it's a head injury, he's got to stop it. And now that he's stopped it, I think he has to check.

Speaker 6

In with him. Yeah, it comes Chris Cornish jogging onto the field. You'll check Nathan's he can't played a solid game. He's just walking around. He's gonna wonder up front. He goes down, just gets a quick check. A galaxy of bowie. I'm not sure why if they should don't mind the tuck the clock tick him by tonight.

Speaker 23

Tonight is just You're gonna look back on this one if the Sounders can't pull it out and just imagine what if you're one game away from the final and just not able to be gold dangerous? Right? They had the perfect game plan coming into this one and keeping the ball out of the back of the net and really limiting Poos to nothing. Tonight, pack paint, soil everyone from the galaxy. Pretty anemic for the better part of this game. But then it's the flip side of it.

You gotta be able to score goals to win these ones away from home and not just play to go into overtime. It just wasn't enough there for the first ninety minutes of this game. Well Atenhio is getting ready to come on. It looks like Nathan's gonna come off the field.

Speaker 6

Great shift by Nathan came on last week against LAFC when Jemar came out. Broni Schmittz is giving Josh Attenhio some final instructions. Can Josha Tensio be the unlikely hero here? Find an equalizing goal Sounders trailing one goal to nil two minutes of the six remaining. But I'm sure the refeel will add on. Anissa minute or two, shouted Nathan's injury. He's off the field a Tenthio's on the field. He's gonna play along side jack To Reagan, it looks like

we'll see if Brian just shifts formation again. Now the Galaxy have possession of the ball, so they roll out this near sight to Peck, it's a Dell guard who whips it down the line.

Speaker 7

To Peck's gonna be a chase down new USB carefuls on a yellow card. Peck just holds the ball up in the corner.

Speaker 6

Fly good if anyone who just knocks it out, and unfortunately the sound is it's going to be a throwing minute to go of the six. Whatever the referee will add on after that, Sounders need to find a goal. Training one goal to nil stays like this, Galaxy will host MLS Cup. Good play by Jackson. Reagan knocks it off the heels of Gabrielle. Peck sounds getting it in quickly off the goalkick or goes into Jp top of

his eighteen yard boxes. He carries the ball forward, goes to Josh Attencia pushing role done available to was right ghost to question probably passed intensial he is able to bring it down. It's gonna clip it from left. It's a middle down to bargas sax Let's get off his fur gets caught and it just runs in to prove not what the sound is needed on a yellow car for Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 23

So a little bit to night, just a little bit too slow on a couple occasions, and that could be the difference maker in a game like this. It's just one lapse in the playoffs, a concentration, everyone's so in tune with the game and heightened. You can't get caught on the ball. And Jackson just ran out of some ideas there has to commit the foul.

Speaker 6

Well, we're past the six minute mark and we're seeing now what the referee will add on no indication yet, of course what the referee will add. We'll have to keep an eye on the clock. Sounds need to somehow fine possession the ball, get it up the field quickly. As the ball gets launched, his nude just bundles into peck. He needs to get on with it.

Speaker 8

His peck.

Speaker 6

That's gonna be a yellow car? Is it for news? He runs into pack. I think Drew Fisher now uses it using his experience the NW just needs to calm down. I see emotions running a little high. Right now he's on a yellow card. Drew Fisher doesn't look like he's gonna give him anything. Sounds needs to need to get home with the game. Yeah.

Speaker 23

I like that from Drew Fisher. Right, he did go for his card to get new who a second yellow, but he knows that Peck's baiting him. Right, He's looking for the foul and Drew does the right thing to get play going.

Speaker 6

Bull needs to go up by JP. Now he does up towards Raoul. Play it by your mind. It picks up by Vargas Sounds. He to get the ball off their foot and clip it into the box. Bull goes in toowards Christian, rolled on heads it in, headed clear by Surreal, finds for goodness off his chest, goes out of plate and the Sounders find a ball from a long throw.

Speaker 7

Paul goes into JP right hand side.

Speaker 6

Men in the box. Paul goes in whipped in head it cleared by Yoshidah and then for Gundez and there's a referees whistle, devastating loss for the Sounders. They fall to that feat then needs fall to that one little loss here the Galaxy of the crowd go wild first time since twenty fourteen for the other Galaxy I'd made

MLS Cup. For the Sounders, that game plan was working perfectly. Unfortunately, there was a sloppy giveaway when a cool finished by Jobolich, who puts the Galaxy into the final Gradual.

Speaker 23

Thoughts, that's about the hardest way that you could win one of these games. It's they hold on for so long and you think you've done everything right and then it's one mistake. Guess who it is. It's poosed with a little slip ball, and that's the one player you got a mark up. And Schwetz will be on this one for a while, and so were the boys. It wasn't the most beautiful game, right, but it didn't go by fast. It was a bit of a chess match.

At the end of the day, the Sounders will be disappointed to come out of here with a loss and end their season like this with ten minutes left to go to try and get something out of it and go back to Seattle and host an MLS Cup. That's an unfortunate one for the Sounders. Hats off to the Galaxy and they'll host another MLS Cup down in.

Speaker 6

La Well, Sounds walking around both consoling each other but also supporting each other. It's gonna be a disappointing journey back. It's gonna be a disappointing a few months in the off season for the Sounders and they reflect on this game, they go get the Sounds a ton of credit with the tough stout to the season.

Speaker 7

When they picked it up right about maytoin and drove forward.

Speaker 6

And my all accounts has been another good year for Bruyn his man, but the Sounders are a winning franchise and this one will sting. So thanks for everyone involved

in today's broadcast and throughout the season. Mike here in the booth, Terry, Ryan Anders, Hearst, Mitchell play Keeley Dunning, Ryan Karnes, Kevin k So, Michelle Ludko has always provided incredible support on the sidelines for us here in the booth to Jackson Felt, Kelen Roe, James Riley, Chance Fry, Marcus Hanneman and the whole pre half post team all your great work joined the season the Sounders legend Brad Evans today to Steve zac Guarany and Pete Fewing, throughout

the season. We have the best in the business bringing you games each week of the season, and we are looking forward to having you join us next season. The most importantly, of course, to all the listeners and fans who join us each and every week, We greatly appreciate your time and support, and I want to make one more mention. We don't know what's going to happen to ral Rudy has what his plans are for next year, but he is the all time leading goal scorer for

the Sounds with eighty six all comp goals. Legend in his own ways. As Stephen Fry gives Raoul a hug, and if that's a goodbye from Raoul, he's got nothing but support from the fans, support from staff, support from alumni, support from his players. Brad, maybe give us a couple of thoughts and what Raoul's done for this franchise since he arrived back in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 23

Yeah, I think for what Nico did to this club, Raoul did it in his own way as well, to score that many goals and to be the leading goal scorer, to win championships, whether it's CONCACAF MLS Cups, whatever it may be, He was just approven assassin in this league, and there was no one better during that time at putting the ball in the back of the net. Sometimes, like you said, father, time catches up to you and

it's possibly time to move on. But you never know, all right, You never say never until it's a start a preseason next year. And so what he's done for this club, he took us to another level right along with a bunch of key players. But I think without him the Sounders don't achieve what they were able to achieve in winning so many trophies in his heyday.

Speaker 6

Yep, goals in MLS Cup goals of course throughout CCL, where the Sounders one in twenty two a legend for the Sounders Raoul as he stands out on the field his arms cross, just taking it all in. But for now, we'll take a short break, and Jackson felt, Pete Fewing, Kellen Rowe will be back to break.

Speaker 2

One moment and one mistake was all it took and your Seattle Sounders twenty twenty four season has unfortunately come to an end. An eighty fifth minute goal by to John Jovilch, and it was on a giveaway from Alex Roldan. Ricky Pooch found Joviolch and he put it in the back of the net bottom left corner past Stephen Free and the La Galaxy, with a one nothing win, will be hosting New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup. As

Seattle's season has come to an end. Welcome in to our postmatch show here on a Sounders FC radio on iHeartRadio. Jackson Feltzkelenroe, Pete viewing here for the next I don't know, however long to talk about the game, talk about the season, talk about a number of things, because it is very heartbreaking, to say the least, what we just witnessed. And it's it's sad that it has to end on that kind of a late goal and that kind of a moment, you know, obviously for Alex roll don you know, very

very tough for him. It's not gonna be a fun flight back home. But I think we kind of we stagger this postgame show and we kind of let's talk about the game, let's talk about the season, and let's talk about what's ahead.

Speaker 3

In our three segments.

Speaker 2

Let's start by talking about this game, Kellen, and how you know, we were really into it at halftime saying that this team with zero zero and even then I would say the eightieth men and were like, okay, let's go defensively, so good for so long, but it is a one nothing loss in the end, and the season has come to an end. Let's just get your opening thoughts in Pete two on this specific game, I thought, you know, for those eighty eighty four minutes eighty five minutes,

it was a quality game from the Seattle. They were compact, they were hard to break down. The Galaxy was getting frustrated, their attacking players were getting frustrated. I think in the second half, Galaxy started pushing a little higher, making the Sounders have some mistakes.

Speaker 4

And you saw it with the goal. In that first half, it was way too easy for Seattle to just turn in the midfield and play a ball wide and they were out. In the second half, you saw Pooge step up a little higher. Obviously Delgado step back a little bit and he was able to move around and make things a little harder. But Seattle controlled the game for the fair amount of the game. They controlled the game.

They had chances, but either team didn't really have chances where you're going ooh, that was a good saver, that was a miss. It was a few times where's half chances here and there? And I think that's the story of Seattle as of late, is where's the offense, where

is the where the chance is being created? But you know, overall, I think this game was a positive and I think when we were watching this game, we're all kind of sitting back almost a little surprised or how well we are playing against this quality team and where we're shutting things down. We weren't so much surprised on the defensive side, but the way that we controlled the midfield and controlled the wings I think was a huge positive for this game.

Speaker 5

For the Sales Sanders, Yeah, I felt like we made them look very ordinary as the game went on. But you're playing against a team that has extraordinary talent and you can only keep them out for so long, and it is the brutality of a game where you make one mistake and they capitalize on it. It was a group perfectly weighted pass from Pouge and the finish from Jolovic. Just you know, Steph FRAI got a hand on it, right, You got a hand on his body weight was going

to his left, shot went to his right. If he gets maybe another inch or half inch of hand on that ball, do.

Speaker 3

You want to make me feel worse?

Speaker 5

P So, it's just one of those things that I mean that I think Brian Schwitzer, I think after this one he'll he'll be in the locker room and say I'm really proud of you. This team started one five and three. I remember being at training one day when they were one five and three and Brian. Brian was sort of dismayed and almost laughing, saying, I have never coached or played on a team that's been this bad.

And yet there was a tone of I'm not giving up, right, I'm not getting We're gonna get it right, We're gonna figure it out. But for them to start like that, I mean, I remember he was saying to Wade Weber, and I was just like, I can't believe for one five and three, and then you look at where they end up. And then that LA team was so talented, and the LA team last week was so talented, and they were able to take a group that that has gotten better and better and figured it out as they've gone,

and it was just unfortunate. I thought some of the quality crosses that we had, if we get a goal before they do, it changes the tenor of the game. It maybe puts LA even tighter and more on edge, and maybe we get it if we had so many good JP had a great cross when he subbed in, and then Georgie Peter de la Vega. If we just get on the end of one of those and put it away, we could be getting very excited about next weekend.

Speaker 2

Well, speaking of that substitution, because Albert Rusknack comes off in the sixty eighth minute and and you know, Callen to your point, I think we need to talk about the midfield a bit, because you know, the midfield in this game for the combination of you know, we're gonna kind of go with post substitution as well, but it's Rusnak, it's Christian, it's Obed, and that trio, that triangle that they built, you know for the last I don't know how many second half of this season, and Obed coming

into his own over these last two playoff games. I mean, no doubt the international soccer folks are watching and looking at a bit of argust saying, oh my, but you had those combinations and then Albert comes out and JP comes in and that trio becomes very fluid as some other changes happen, and Callen, it just felt like, you know, that midfield group as a whole really did a fantastic job of controlling this game.

Speaker 3

As you mentioned, no matter who is in there.

Speaker 2

But you know, I guess one of the lasting thoughts is, God, if Albert hadn't gotten that hip reaggravation, maybe something's different. But that midfield did an outstanding job specifically in this game.

Speaker 4

Well they did an incredible job. And when you lose a guy like Albert Rusnek, who is your sister, who is your playmaker, who is the guy that's going to create I mean, in the first what five minutes, he had a shot on goal, and he's obviously playing all the balls in from the corner, kicks and such, but he is the guy kind of controlling that offense. And so you have guys behind Ovid Vargas and Christian Roldan who can obviously step up into that position and do

what needs to be done. I mean, Christian did it in Houston, scoring the goal as the number ten quote unquote ten. But that fluidity of when Albert Rusnek comes off, it's just a little bit different. You're basically having eight in or sixes, so defensive midfielders first trying to attack, and I guess said they're quality players, they can do it, but it's just not the same. You don't have the same swagger to the offense without an Albert Rusnak. The

passing is not as cripps the ideas. Honestly, the ideas that al Rusnak can like throw into his head are incredible, and then the quality of the balls that he puts in. I mean, I'm also thinking about the the free kick that he that he took that made a save as well and is a lovely free kick point. And it's just it's the little things that alert Rusnak. You may not see all the time, but he's always on your

back shoulders. As a defender, you're hating that because you always have to turn your head to find out just where he is. And he's so good on the ball and clean that if he turns, he's going to find that pass. And I think a few times we actually missed Jordan Morris on some very good runs, especially in

the first half. A few times that I remember dala Vega had one Christian roll Dan had one because he is he's so quick and if he's in between the center backs, you know he's probably gonna make that run. So I think you just missed that little bit of that swagger, that that quality that h rusnackast before we took a break.

Speaker 2

I think you mentioned Pedro dal le Veg and Pete. I wanted to chime in on Pedro because I did feel like in that first forty five minutes where we were kind of getting going, I felt like it was may have been Pedro's best forty five of the season, which we kept talking about with Brian over and over work in progress, and were you it's a progress, you know, you know, getting him in involved and getting him up to speed with everything else. And it sort of felt

like we started to see that from Pedro. It started to see him getting involved more and making these runs and making these passes. He slipped the ball to Jordan that you know, ended up being a shot that got deflected. But I think I think what we saw from Pedro is is I'm not trying to be all, you know, for everybody else. Yes, the Sounders have lost, the season's over. I'm not trying to make it all happy, happy, good good.

But nonetheless, I think I think there is a positive take from this in the sense of I think we're starting to see what Pedro d la Vega can become over time here with the Sounders.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I would agree with that. Tonight was his tenth start right, we probably played thirty eight, probably fifty games games when you add them all together, right, So I think we did see and I would agree with you Jackson. I thought today was his the best half of soccer that he's played, and so he ends on a positive and I think his teammates come back to him and say, Okay, this guy's gonna help us and this guy can play. We saw a lot of guys evolved this year. Albert

finally in the spot that he wants to play in. OHBD, Holy cow, he got better every week. In my opinion, Jackson Reagan got three goals this year, one assist Georgie. I'm excited about what he's going to bring next year. So yeah, it was a gosh, you're just bittersweet, right, last twenty games. I'm doing a little math here, eleven to five and four in their last twenty and piecing it together. We did not think Paul Rothrock he should be.

Speaker 3

Added to the list of oh good point no, no, Paul, yeah, yeah, And so.

Speaker 5

We missed a couple of guys and we watched Paul Rothrock really emerge into a quality player in this league. So and versatile and Brian Schenzer had to plug and play a lot. I mean, we see Jordan Morris his best positions up front. He's got to end the game on the left hand side, which makes perfect sense. You want Raoul in there. Hopefully it gets some magic.

Speaker 4

But you had ten games I think the middle of the season that Christian roll Dan was playing right back.

Speaker 3

You had.

Speaker 4

Then he got pushed into the middle, and that they Oh, finally they found out that middle with Ovid and Christian is going to be the way it's going to go. I mean it was del Vega gonna be on the right, was he in the middle? Was he on the left? He, like you said, coach Mester has done a really good job of plugging and playing, and he had to do it again in the playoffs.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

Speaker 4

Yeah, you know it's so Georgie coming in because of injuries, and let's talk about for a second too because of injuries. But well, let's let's go back to Padro del Vega for go ahead, because for me, he had a Yes, he had a fine first half. What did he create?

Speaker 2

I think there was a there was that one ball to Jordan that slipped in and I don't have the minute on that, but he slips the ball into Jordan and then it was deflected out. I think that was in the fifteenth minute actually now that I haven't written down. So that was a really really big chance where you know, I think that he runs by two defenders and he also did that later in the game too. He runs a boy, defenders, cuts inside, slips the ball right through.

That's that's a good chance. And I think the more Pedro develops that chemistry of Jordan, the more time he spends, the more those runs become commonplace, the more those balls become commonplace.

Speaker 4

That's what I would say, Yellen. I just think that if it's going to be your midfielder, let's look at this way. Yeah, how many times did you say Georgie did that same thing?

Speaker 13

Wow?

Speaker 4

In the first half?

Speaker 3

Yeah, I mean Georgie And that's why I want to talk about Georgie.

Speaker 4

But I mean, that's that's what I'm saying, is that this you know, I understand that it's a it's a different game, but it's the fifty thousand dollars man versus the five million dollar man. Yeah, you know, that's that's got to be that's got to be something said. And so, yes, he had a good first half and I that was fine, and he was running around and he was connecting passes and doing the things. But I just want more. You gotta have more.

Speaker 3

And you know who gave you more. It is Georgie because George Georgie is.

Speaker 4

The fair different style. Their styles they're different. Georgie is the pace. He's going to run at you one v one, while you know, Beja Vega's more trying to beat you slower, side by side, maybe doing some one towo's But look, I Georgie's straight ahead. But look, I I just I wanted more.

Speaker 2

And that's I think that's fair. And I think you know, when we kind of talk about this season overall, we wanted a lot more from Pedro de la Vega overall this season, absolutely so, because what we saw tonight should be like the bare minimum for Pedro de la Vega. You know, at this point, had he you know, developed as he needed to, but he got injured of.

Speaker 4

Course, over and over.

Speaker 2

But Georgie Manongo out of nowhere, signed from Dacoma Defiance to the first team, and we're seeing things Pete and Kellen chime in two from Georgie. This kid, Georgia Manongoho who's blind in one eye, and the confidence he has and the speed and the quickness and the ability to get behind h it's something that I don't remember. The last Sounder, I mean, young Jordan Morris is the is the thing that I'm reminded by of being able to, you know, make a move, run behind defenders, go direct

out a guy. We haven't seen that in a long time. And Georgie has that unique ability and we saw it over and over again tonight.

Speaker 5

Those are the kind of players that coaching staffs like the Sounders, Brian, every single one of them. They love having a kid like that because he simply wants to get better.

Speaker 15

Right.

Speaker 5

And Paul Rothrock the same Paul Rothrock. You never saw him. Paul scored a lot of goals this year, right, and I think he scored seven between all categories, between all games. You never saw him hold up a check and say you got to pay me more, right, And that's just that's behind the scenes, fair enough, But that's where and that's where it should be.

Speaker 9

Capp of course, right.

Speaker 5

But but I think those two guys, you know, those are two young leaders, and we've seen other guys be those young leaders. Alex Christian Jordan Morris and now they're a little bit older. But to see these two young kids come in and then lighted up like they did. And you know, Georgie lost his father during the season, right, and when the funeral happened, Ryan Schpitzer said go home, and he said, no, I cannot go home. I need

to stay here to get better at my craft. And I know my family needs me, but they need me more to stay here and get better, right, and so that I can improve and help my family later on. So, yeah, he was terrific. It's not just his speed. Kellen said that when we were watching the game, he's so darn strong, right, and he yeah, And so he's somebody we can be excited about for the for next year for sure.

Speaker 4

When we were first talking about him, I remember it was the Open Cup game and I think it was actually my first call in the Open Cup game. But the words that we used, the word that we use was raw. He is a raw talent, right, He's he had a lot of pace, He has some you know, good moments, but the final product was never there. You saw Georgie mature that some of the some of the

first touches he had today. We're not not just going after it, but you know, bringing a ball down, shielding the ball from the defender so he can't you know, step in, like I said, using his strength, using his talent.

He became that raw talent and really honed it. Like you said, he we worked really hard and he's such a good guy doing so right, But he works really hard to hone that talent, and I think he is someone to be excited about as he continues to hone this this talent that he has, especially just not even just go one on one, but the quality of a game that he has.

Speaker 2

There was a lot of individual moments and a lot of individual players. I think, you know, we're talking about, you know, good things, and I think it's a funny game because I think the Sounders for a lot of this game outplayed the Alley Galaxy. And that's the reason, tonally, why this conversation right now is talking about these positive things. And it's so funny that the Sounders season is over and there's probably you know, I'm probably getting messages of like,

you know, be more negative. Our season's over, you know, you got to be more critical.

Speaker 3

We'll get there.

Speaker 2

And I think I think we do, and we should because at the end of the day, there are lots of positive things to draw from it. But the season is over and it was a big mistake from Alex rolled on and the mistake is costly because Joevilich scores and it's one nothing in the eighty fifth minute, and the La Galaxy have ended the Sounder season with a one nothing win. They'll be hosting MLS Cup next week, not Seattle. So we've talked about the positives from this game.

We got to dive into not only the negatives from this game, but I think the negatives of the season, because yeah, it was a rough start and we saw things we liked, we saw things we didn't like. Let's do a kind of a little bit of a breakdown of what we saw. This is great, we're on the iHeart Radio stream right now. We don't got to deal with a clock and commercials any of that crap. Mitchell, and I know you're probably pissed off at me for saying that right now, but this is the end of

the season and we have a few things to talk about. Well, of course, I have Sounders Weekly on Wednesday on ninety three point three KGERFM. But for these two guys, Pete Feugh and Kellen Row, I gotta get their thoughts on what is the end of the season because there's a lot to go over. We'll continue following the Sounders season ending Western Conference Final one Nothing lost to the Galaxy More next on the Sounders FC radio stream channel on iHeartRadio.

Welcome back to the postgame show.

Speaker 2

Sounders season is over a one to nothing lost to the LA Galaxy on the road, LA is hosting MLS Cup against New York and the Sounders offseason has begun, and thank you Sounder fans for an incredible season. Obviously, you are at the center of our club and we appreciate all of your support. We can't wait to see what next season holds. This team will continue to be relentless into the offseason, of course, and into twenty twenty five.

I also mentioned that unfortunately we don't have a goal to talk about, and that's probably the topic that we're going about to get to. But every goal this season, we've of course you've heard it on the postgame shows. They've all been on our Emerald Queen Casino Play the Match, and each one of those goals and saves and big highlights you've heard are the play of the match presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest.

I also tell folks that Sounders EPs Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. And finally that this season, when the Sounders won, you won a free mid chick in the next day, exclusively in the McDonald's app with any minimum two dollars purchase. We'll see about next year, but donald the McDonald's ap up

now and check out the deals waiting for you. I think we transition this conversation now into probably the place that a bunch of fans want to take it to, and that is the negative, and that is the reality of the situation is that the Sounders offensively this season, and Craig Wible, our general managers, said it to US media yesterday. This offense is not nearly where we wanted it to be in twenty twenty four. And the way to fix that, of course is by additions singular plural.

We don't know, but it will take fixing the offense for sure. So I think we start. I don't even know if there's a question here, but I think the reality of the situation is that the Sounders were just shut out by a team that gave up fifty goals in the season. Kellen and the offense in this game, the offense throughout the season is not where we wanted it.

I guess we're all start is Do you feel like the offensive issues that we saw today and Route twenty twenty four were more personnel related or more issues with what the team was trying to do in each given moment game whatever, Well, the personnel is there, they can score goals.

Speaker 4

We've they've created a lot of goals, and they get themselves in front of things. I mean, Jordan Morris, you know ten plus goals and all competitions with Rus Knack with what seven to nineteen assists? Yep, Now it's incredible so that they have the ability to score goals. But yes they're missing. It can't just be one or two guys anymore. It used to be in the league when I was playing, that you could have two attackers, you can have a defender and that would run your team.

I mean, look at the Toronto's right, the gavnco out the door and then Bradley like those were the big guys. Yeah, they had some contributions from others, but those were the guys that were getting them goals, they were giving them things. You have those guys now and it's just not the same. You have too many. The talent around the league is too good defensively, offensively doesn't really matter, and the tactics

have changed. The game is so fast, and it's just you need to have more than just the one or two guys, and we didn't have that. It was Paul Rothbrock to kind of create something and make them look the other way so Jordan can have more time and root space. That so alb Rusnak had another option to have. But I think they just need more out of either the players they have or a new signing that is

just it's electric. I think you saw Georgie. He was so successful because he had moments where he can get behind the defense one v one whatever it mean, down the line, but there was nothing in the box the right The runs weren't the correct ones. And if you have that on both sides, you know what's happening. Look at the way that paystill is there, the way that

Peck is there, the way that Jovilich is there. They have the ability to go to them and once they get the ball, there are runs in the box because they know they're going one v one and it's going to be dangerous. So I think we just need to find something like that to give some electricity to this offense.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I would agree. I think we're in this some one player. When you think about the fact that we give thirty five goals, we needed somebody else to either get more goals or get more assists. We relied on Jordan. He got the most goals in the regular season of any Sounder with thirteen, and then Albert had a terrific season.

But we needed more productivity for more guys. When you go down the stat sheet and you look at how many players were above five goals, it's not that many, right, And we expected Ruy Diaz to have another great season as well, and he was. He spent a lot of time on the bench, so we did not expect Pedro de Levega to be injured as often as he was, and we expected him to be that one guy. So sometimes you know, players emerge. Paul Rothrock emerged, right, Georgie emerged.

If Georgie has an entire season as a starter, then I think he might be a guy who accumulates a lot more assists and maybe even gets a couple of goals just by his sheer hustle and putting himself in the right spot. So it's not how the season. You know, we were on that plane on the flight back from LAFC and it was awesome. That plane ride on the

way home is going to be dead silent. Having said that, this is a club that was deep at the beginning of the year, and then they pulled themselves out and they got better and better and they but they faced a team today. Taylor Twelman said it on his broadcast, give La credit because they never gave up and they kept fighting and we made one mistake that costas dearly right and good finish from a quality player. So I

think we're missing one player. But I think we thought that Peter de Vego would have been that guy, and roll Ruiy Diaz would have been that one guy.

Speaker 4

And I think we're missing more than one. When I'm thinking about building a team, it's not yes you think, so it's not in the back four the eleven. I want fifteen. I want I want guys off the bench. That was one of the problems that we've had is that we don't have anyone on the bench that is going to come in and electrify this offense. Well, Georgie did that, but but that was one Yeah, that was one guy. And how can you how can you find the quit Look at the substitutions that LA makes either

L a team. Right, Marcy Delgado created and pushed things forward. You had Diego Fagundez, who's scored over fifty goals in this in this league. Grugman came in, he's he's he's a number six, but he allowed those other guys to push forward. Uh, we didn't have Massofski scored two goals.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that's that's a rough.

Speaker 4

Diz scored two to five goals. You know, it's just not it's just eight.

Speaker 3

But it's just how many of those penalties.

Speaker 4

It's just not enough off the bench to be electrifying. You define. You can't always just find the star player. We do need star players, don't get me wrong, but you have to find the guy that's going to go get you five goals assists every every season, exactly eight goals eight assists every season. That needs to happen.

Speaker 5

Because I think gets five or six goals in New York Jackson.

Speaker 4

Jackson got what three you got three games two and.

Speaker 2

Jackson improved so much middle of the season. But I think I fully agree with Callen. I think, you know, Paul Rothrock feels like a guy that could could get you somewhat numbers, but he doesn't feel I don't know if Paul Rothrock is your full time starting winger next year. So there's one and then you know, at some point we should, probably if we have time, talk about roll Ridiaz. We don't know what the future holds. But if that's it for Roller Rediaz, then there's his career in Rave Green.

But you need a Roller replacement, and not only a Roul replacement, but a Roll plus replace. Rowel used to be replacement. You need a really good forward who you can slide in there and have confidence that I mean Roll Ridiaz. This is not going to be This is gonna sound like I'm hating on him, and I'm not. But the reality of the situation is that this season, I don't think he had a goal that was a non penalty inside of twenty five yards. He had galazzos

this year, and he had pks this year. But his movement and what he did inside the box this year. It wasn't good enough and not even close. We needed miles more out of roll reedy As this year. For I mean, you reference the finances, so I'm just going to reference again.

Speaker 3

For what roll Rediaz is making this year. We needed a lot more from Roller Rediez this year and we just didn't get it.

Speaker 2

So we need a improved, much improved Roll redia As added to this roster.

Speaker 3

So I'm I'm right with you, Callen.

Speaker 2

I think this is I think Craig Wible when he talks about you needing to make an addition additions to this team to fix the offense, I agree. I think it is two pieces in the next four months because also the Club World Cup is coming next summer. If this team wants to compete in the Club World Cup next summer, we need to improve this offense, and I think it's going to take multiple pieces.

Speaker 4

It is look and we can just start with it now. Is just h He's one of the best finishers I've ever played with. He is a quality human being. He is a guy that will support him. He'll yell at you on the field, he'll call your names, and then afterwards he'll give you a hug. He's like he's he's a competitor and I love that about him. And he's

obviously done so much for the Seattle Sounders. I remember watching games because I wasn't here yet and I was watching obviously supporting the Sounders because it is my hometown and because it is a club that I will always

have in my heart. But watching him compete and win and score and and bring this team into up into the cloud nine, I mean we we are absolutely when he came, when Nico came, obviously Dempsey and and even I'll even give Brad Brad Evans a call, the call there too, But these guys just bring this level so much higher, and they bring the quality, they bring, the the I just the leadership.

Speaker 6

I don't know.

Speaker 4

I hope he's not done in his career at all. Obviously I would love for him to stay if he's going to continue to play and play well, But if he does have to move on, and then you know, all the best, Roul, and you know, thanks for thanks for the times we had together.

Speaker 5

Well, he certainly created some trophies for this club, no question at all. And you're right, the energy that he would bring a couple of years ago. I remember watching training at lumen Field and he was scoring goals and he was strutting around like a rooster and it just because he was coming off injury and everyone uh it lifted everyone up as well. And some of the goals he scored through his career here. And I like the names that you mentioned, Dempsey, uh and and uh Ladero

as well. We've just had some great quot opah Femmy Martin's right, was just such a quality player. So we need somebody of that charisma on the field and cockiness on the flag, the swag yeah yeah, on the field that can help lift everybody up in.

Speaker 3

The tough the toughness, the mental toughness.

Speaker 4

It's also can you make something out of nothing? And that's something that Rol Rudiez did a lot of us. True, He's like he's got three guys around him. All of a sudden, he's you know, some braaring one guy, making the other and putting it in the back of the net. How did that happen?

Speaker 6

Exactly?

Speaker 4

But those are the moments you need, and you don't see that at the on the field right now. You're not making you're not making two guys miss and and and finding the back of the net. That's just not happening and so interesting. I think that's the that we don't have that set of and I do say star power for that. I think it is. But it's a little bit of swagger, a little bit of confidence of I can do these really amazing things and it may not be every game, but you're gonna get three or four.

Speaker 5

That was a year we had a guy, mar Resalez, his first game on the fifty yard line, loses the ball the Argentinian and he gets tackled from behind, no call. He gets up and he hammers somebody, and it's like Nicol Ladero turning off the the music in the locker room before the first game he played. We're not we're not gonna listen to music. We're gonna talk to each other about how we're gonna win. And Marrow was one

of those guys. And you know, Schwetz has said often we need to be a little nastier as a team, a little harder too nice sometimes, So we could use somebody who's who's gonna turn the music off. Somebody's gonna get stuck in on tackles.

Speaker 2

So we're kind of more bring this conversation into the off season ahead. I want to take a break and I want to continue that. I will quickly say for all, really, Diaz, I was comments society you know about this year what Raoul rod Rudiez has given to this club. And he's

the all time leading goalscorer for our team. He is a legend on and I would also say off the field, because the work that he does to put an arm around academy kids and and and and young young people in the organization and be tight with them and make sure that they're coming up. I think there's a kid, I hope I have the name right, Danny Roeblaze.

Speaker 6

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Uh, former with Defiance and ended up, you know, leaving to get some more time. And I believe he did come back.

Speaker 4

And I played at them pick up on Wednesday or Tuesday.

Speaker 2

So what I heard from somebody within the organization is that when he came back, Raoul saw him in the halls at Long Acres. And I mean, this is Danny roe Blaze, a guy that I don't think he ever touched the first team play with the Coma defians a lot, and Raul sees him in the hallway comes up and gives him a massive hog and is just embracing with Danny Roeblaze and is just as tight like they never

spent a day apart. And it's it's that that role Redez has brought the leadership with the young and bringing up kids from the academy who were playing with the Fians who he sees around, whether it was Starfire now Long Acres, you know roll. What he's done on the field is phenomenal and the moments, I mean the game winner at Portland this year, I'm not yeah, that was a game winner started the second half where he hits it from twenty five out and you know, this epic moment.

He's had epic moments one after another, forty five yards in Philadelphia this year, Penank is over and over. Obviously ML's Cup twenty nineteen. I could go on, right, He's delivered these epic moments and he will always be remembered for these epic moments. But what a lot of fans don't see is what he means to people coming up through the organization, like a Danny Roeblaze and like so many out there's Danny Leva too. He Collen, I'm sure

you saw it. But the work he's done, you know, within the halls and being able to be a friend to everybody and a leader to everybody. Uh, it's something that this club will absolutely miss.

Speaker 4

Oh yeah, you see it firsthand in the locker rooms. Look, and it's not it's not an everyday thing. Like you're you're an athlete, right, you have emotion, you have you know, times when you're not feeling great. You got times when you're feeling amazing. But when it came to the academy, it came to the kids, Raoul just turned it off like he's okay, he's a human being now. And that was pretty great about him. Like I said, this guy is a role model. He's the league and goal scorer

for the Seattle Sounders. All these kids in the academy system know who he is. If he walks through that through that door, they know that he is the best player to one of the best players to play for the Seattle Sounders, and that's their role model they're trying

to be like. And so he knows that when he when he gets in those scenarios that it's not it's no longer about being a professional soccer, No longer about you know, how my day is now, how my day is going to be if I'm playing, not playing, bench, injured, whatever it may be. He turns into a human being. That's why I do love about his leadership.

Speaker 3

Just tremendous person, tremendous player. If this is it for all, and we're not saying it is, but if this is it for all, and Ray.

Speaker 2

Green, thank you Roll for everything. And listen, man, we're gonna miss you if that's it, but we'll see what the future holds. As for what the future holds, over these next few months, let's continue talking about that. I think we've talked about it continuously. Let's continue discussing what's

ahead for your Seattle Sounders. As the season has come to an end a one nothing loss in the Western Conference Final at the LA Galaxy, who will now be hosting MLS Cup Seattle season is over, We'll keep talking about what's ahead next on the Sounders FC radio stream channel on iHeartRadio.

Welcome back to the postgame Show, a season ending postgame show. As your Seattle Sounders year has come to an end. It's a one nothing loss in the Western Conference Final at the LA Galaxy, who will now be hosting ML's Cup and Seattle. As we talked about, the season ends, and now the questions begin over what happens leading into twenty twenty five. I think we've we've kind of understood that they need to add some on the offensive end. I think Craig Wible understands need to add on the

offensive end. I think Callen and I both agree it needs to be multiple people on the offensive end to get this team better offensive numbers. But I think that there are then interesting questions over you know, what does this roster look like over the next twelve months. Because Obed Vargas's value is going to continue to skyrocket. He is more you know, opportunities with the Mexican national team.

Speaker 3

He's looked so so good.

Speaker 2

But Pete As we look at that roster then in the break, we were kind of going up and down, and there are some question marks over whether certain people are here, you know, four months from now or not.

Speaker 5

Well, there's always going to be attrition, right, and and players might get better opportunities somewhere else. It's kind of the college deal of the transfer portal. Right, they might be able to go somewhere else, get a better contract, get or more playing time. We're not in on any of those conversations, right, So you don't know what you know, Paul Rothrock Georgie. Those guys are on pretty small contracts, right, and so I'm sure they're going to come in and say, hey,

I would like to get paid more. There's a there's a limit to what the team is going to pay for certain players. Obed Vargas, I don't know what call and I have no clue what his value is, right, is it five million bucks? I mean when when DeAndre Yedlin went to the EPL for five million, that was

a coup. And I know Adrian Hannah was saying, we need one of those a year, right, that can fund the academy, that can fund you know, one or two of our players, three or four of our players, depending you know, on whether it's a DP or a TAM guy. So but we haven't had one like that since. But Obed Vargas man, he just got better and better and and I can see now why Mexico the first team, the you know, national team won at him, right, And

so we'll Seattle'll be able to keep him. That's the question, because he's so young.

Speaker 3

Well do we want to keep him if he offers eight million bucks?

Speaker 5

Yeah? And yeah, I mean that's a good point. You know, there's some of these clubs in Europe they sell a player and they get a new stadium right for their for their second or third team. So it's going to be interesting to see what the movement is. And you're right, Craig Wibel. You know, he's a great guy. And he's sitting in the back of the plane and I look at the spreadsheets and I got to look at him and go, how you doing, buddy, And he's like, I'm

trying to figure it out. Right, he knows he's got to make changes, and he knows that they have tough They have tough conversations starting Monday, right A.

Speaker 4

Tough conversation started, you know, a month ago. But yeah, look, I I actually loved this part of the year. For me is when when things were done, it was so you don't want it to end like it did. But when things are done, you look at this locker room and you're going, Okay, this locker room is never going to be the same again. Yeah, there's we talk about the turnover with the the autrition. It's it's there's never

have that group again. Never in that locker room. There is never a time where it's just this say the same guys. There's always an add on. There's always someone that leaves. It's just it's the way that this world said that. I like it because you sit there and you think, Okay, no matter what if we got in a fight twenty you know, twenty days ago, two months ago, at the beginning of the year, three years ago, that

moment right there, Hey man, it's been great. Yeah, here's you know, And for me it was always I want to share a drink with that person, and I go around the room and we chat, we say hello, we say goodbye if it is hey, I hope if you do leave, like thank you. That this moment is like that graduation moment of like okay, no matter what, we're again. We're human beings. Now this is no longer. Yes it's our job, but we're human beings. We get our time off,

enjoy time with your family. It was really great paying with you. If I don't see you again, you know all the best. Yeah, I do like that part because you have to become a human again, and not everyone knows that it's horrible losing these games. Yeah it's horrible, but you know at that moment, it's not about the game anymore. That's your teammate, that's like your comrade. You were blood, sweat and tears with that person across the

across the hall next to you. Two guys down. You guys fought together for over ten and a half months.

Speaker 9

Yeah.

Speaker 3

Yeah, And Christian said this was the most together team he's ever been on.

Speaker 4

Right, And it's never going it's always going to change. I mean, I just I had a call with the ten year anniversary of the New England team that went to the final in twenty fourteen, and we all text each other afterwards of like, hey, man, I hope you're tuning. Well, I just got reminiscent of the times we had. We had fifteen guys at the bar on Sundays, win, lose, draw, and you just you get to hang out and you

get to you know, I met wives, girlfriends, kids. It's that that was the stuff that sticks with you in the long run, and when I do stop, when I did stop playing, when I now that I've gone through it for about a year now, it's that's the stuff you remember.

Speaker 5

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sure Brian Schpetzer's trying to console and also thank a lot of players for the contry abuts in their commitment to the club and representing the club as well as they have. You know, it was set on the broadcast. Seattle has more points than any other team in MLS in two thousand and nine, and that is the standard and the expectation. But that's very darn impressive, right, two thousand and nine is a long

time ago. Now, it's fifteen years ago, sixteen years ago, so that's something that the club should be proud of. And yeah, I'm sure he has taken a moment I'd love to. And that's hard for Brian too. You know, you say he's a person, he that guy really cares about his players. He's a steward of the club right now. And so if that is the end for Raoul, and you have to go from Okay, we got to get a goal, tie it up, we got to get a goal.

And all of a sudden, you walk in locker room and you go, oh, now, I've got to give Now. I got to make sure I get my kudos and console some guys. I mean, I'll bet you. And Alex Wildon's a tough kid. It wouldn't surprise me if he was in tears in the locker room because what you said about the Christian said it was the tightest group. He doesn't want to let anybody down. He's had a very good year.

Speaker 4

And to give that one so reliable, he's usually the guy that's the mister reliable.

Speaker 3

It was him, I know.

Speaker 4

And look, it's it's tough and we go down this roster of guys, you know we're gonna it sounds like and it's a speculation obviously so, but it sounds like big players are going to be gone and it needs to happen, and thats it happens all the time, but it needs to happen to turn over into the new regime.

Speaker 2

I because we are in the post Ladero era and now we may be in the post Ladero and Ruy Diaz era and me.

Speaker 3

But there's always saying, right exactly, it has to be.

Speaker 4

It's continuous. This league is growing, this game is growing. The speed of it is not is Jesus you see these guys, it's it's it's it's quick, it's passing, it's a recy huge doing touches that I was like, where'd the ball go? You know, tradition. It's just those those moments, the quality of players that are playing in this league. Now you have to stay on top of it.

Speaker 3

And what's the new era gonna look like?

Speaker 2

Staying on top of it? Playing with the Galaxy, playing with l a f C. Not my not going one in four against l e f C. You're going three and two against L e f C. And you know, right, so is it the money? Is it the personnel?

Speaker 4

What's what's stopping Sounders from keeping up with the l a f C s, with the Miamis, with the LA Galaxies.

Speaker 3

Now, that is the golden question.

Speaker 5

You know, I would say in the last two games were with them, right, of course. They they got the better of us today, of course, and we got the better of LA last week. So I will say they have we have to work harder to get there. Yeah, I would agree.

Speaker 4

I would agree we which I don't mind. Yeah, you know, but we weren't favorites in any of the playoff games.

Speaker 3

No, no Houston.

Speaker 2

But you know, when you're recruiting, some of the game one against Houston games, so we had a bunch of guys missing.

Speaker 5

So yeah, when you're recruiting around the world, l A is a much more desirable place New York Miami, Right, of.

Speaker 4

Course, how do they make it?

Speaker 5

Yeah?

Speaker 4

Right, like how do they how do they make it the way it's it's coming in?

Speaker 2

How do we get to the next era of Sounders soccer, the new La Darro and how do we stay right there in the top three with your LA's and you know, Miami's. What does the next era of Sounders soccer look like? And how do we how do we belong in that next era? It's a it's a tremendous question because you look at the roster and you know, you just look at who signed through next year. Fri signed through next year, and we'll see what beyond that. But we know we

have Andrew Thomas to along contract. You got Yamar signed the next year. Jackson now signed next year. He signed a big deal. You have Alex, You have new who you have obed and obviously his question is is is a big question for the future. You have Christian, you have a Pedro sign. You have Paul Rothrock and we'll see if he gets on a new deal. You have Albert whose contract is now up.

Speaker 3

He was on an option. They picked up his option for twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2

So now you can you do you sign Albert Rusnak to a designated player contract. You have Morris signed. There's there's there's the there's an eleven that I just spelled out. If you can sign and make that eleven work. You have Jil Paula I believe.

Speaker 3

Signed through next year. Josh Attencio. You have options to build this eleven out.

Speaker 2

But it's it's lots of questions about as Callen you said it, I think perfectly in the last segment, you find the fifteen.

Speaker 3

It's not about the eleven, it's the fifteen.

Speaker 2

It is.

Speaker 4

Look and you just said that lineup and that is our essentially our starting lineup right now? Right, that didn't score, so like how is this going to? And then for me, the question mark for that group was OBD. So let's say Obid stays great for us, Right, you want him to stay obviously, you want him to do well and go and be this massive star. But say he gets sold, Yeah, who's next?

Speaker 3

Well, probably JP, just for next year. You'd think it's JP.

Speaker 4

When when JP's up there in age, I hate to say it. Christian's getting up there in age and can't play every game as much old I know, I know, So who's then your next up? This this game? You can't play every so hard. My body is done now because I played once. I played every game like it is so hard to do, especially with the travel, the adding of games. The League's Cup is now a thing, the KUNKCAF Club World Cup or they the FIFA Club

Bow Cup. You've got Open Cup, you've got playoffs, You've got just day to day trainings where something's going to happen, injuries. So who's your backup for Ovid? Yeah, you was there, but he didn't do all that much this year. He was meant to be the guy and Ovid said, no, I got it. So there's that happened. If Christian was if the everything was healthy, I don't think Christian would have moved in the middle. You're right, and so you need wingers.

Speaker 9

You need you need you know what I got.

Speaker 4

You need someone to compete with Jordan. So he he thinks that, Okay, there's someone on my back. When he has that chip on his shoulder, that's when he's scoring goals. When he wanted to be the forward and they wouldn't let him. They kept playing him wide when he when he played up front. I remember it was Kansas City two years ago or last year, he was either way. He scored four goals from all LAO chwo. But that

that moment was Okay, this is my time. I have to prove that I'm the number nine and he needs that push. So get me a number nine who's going to push Jordan Morris agreed, agreed.

Speaker 5

Here's an interesting one. Obed stays, we have a kid who's on the Mexican national team and he's our starting center midfielder. Does he attract more national team players from around the world because Obed's here.

Speaker 4

I think they chat about it. There's definitely chats about those in those camps and in those games. But with his youth, his stature with the national team isn't there yet. He's not going like he just come on. And I'm not sure. I'm not sure that Savvy is a businessman either, like, hey, we can make a lot of stuff happen over here, like come on, you come jump on board.

Speaker 5

But it does say something for the Sounders, that is, is a little bit of money in the bank. You've got the you know, starting midfielder for Mexico, which he's not at this.

Speaker 4

So what's your ice for him? What's what's your price? Well, because he's free, we got him for free, so anything is you give us a dollar? We were earning money.

Speaker 3

I think I think ate and I think it 's my floor.

Speaker 9

Yeah, huh, I.

Speaker 7

Ten.

Speaker 13

I would love to get ten.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I think Adrian. Adrian's a poker player, right, so I think he's not get ten. Well, he's not gonna He sold DeAndre Edlin for five million. Yeah, how many years ago, six, seven, eight years ago. He's inflation a lot.

Speaker 2

You know what I can Well, I'm not gonna say who told this to me? Somebody told me, and I don't think it was on the air, so I'm not gonna say who it.

Speaker 3

Was said three three years ago.

Speaker 2

This is long time before Obed Vargas and before it was it was before the twenty twenty two seasons, so before he kind of broke out right, he said, Ovid Vargas is going to be the first player organization sells for more than ten million dollars.

Speaker 3

And right now I believe it.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I mean I hope.

Speaker 4

So I don't know what teams said that.

Speaker 3

Come on, you're not going to do that.

Speaker 4

Give me the first letter.

Speaker 2

You know what, it's already it's after ten pm and Mitchell is probably going to stab a knife through my neck for We've.

Speaker 4

Got one more question, So answer it. Answer it how you like it.

Speaker 3

It's it's almost like you're just in myns. Do you want to ask the question?

Speaker 22

Yeah?

Speaker 4

Was this coach and Jackson? Was this a successful season for the seatlesounders?

Speaker 5

For me, it was because of where we started and because we didn't have some of the pieces that the top teams had, so we relied on that unity that Christian said to you was the tightest group they found ways to win. They got better as the season went on. They fell short, for sure, and no one is going to be more disappointed than the players and their head coach. So but having said that, I'm very proud of what this team did. The last two years have been tough, right,

because you've had to make changes. You've had to get Nicol Ladero off the right, and then he played in a semi final tonight as our final tonight out of the Eastern Conference, right, and then Ruy Diaz he had to make a tough change with that one. So the team had to weather as much controversy as they have in the last five, six, seven, eight, ten years, right or maybe the history in their MLS run. And so

I think it was a success. I think they got better as the season went on, and they competed right down to the very end, and one mistake against quality opponent, So.

Speaker 2

I would I would agree on I won't repeat all your points, but I think all your points are sound. I would say it's a successful Skiz season by the skin of our teeth, because if we had lost to LAFC, no, absolutely not a successful season, okay, but beating LAFC and getting that to one win and maybe it was because it's recency bias and we were there and you know, just the everything involved with that win to get you know,

the it wasn't the full monkey off the back. They still knocked us out of two other tournaments this year, but to end their season and to beat them in our house and to you know, for everything that was against them the previous thirteen months, just based on that win, we lost to a team that was the first team in MLS history to have four ten plus goal scorers.

Speaker 24

Yeah, and they are won by the skin of their team, won by just one single mistake. Defensively, you talk about the skin of the teeth that we won, I will also say teeth.

Speaker 2

We were the best defensive team in MLS. We led the league in goals against with thirty five. We had, you know, I think great club moments we saw developing Paul Rothrock's development, Georgie Mungo's development, Great moments like the Portland win away back in May. And there's been a number of these these big games over the course of the year that I think we can point to and

go that was really really fun. There's obviously negative moments, many negative moments, but the lasting taste in my mouth. It probably won't be tonight. It'll it'll be tonight for the next week, but then as the next few months go by, it will be the win at LAFC, ending their season and denying LAFC a cup in their house, you know, because they would have been hosting the La

Galaxy tonight had it been LAFC going through. So by the skin of our teeth, Kellen, I think it was a successful season, but it's like, it's that close.

Speaker 4

For me, it's a no go ahead. It's not a successful season. Success is silverware, and we were, yeah, semi close, and I used those words correctly, semi close. We got out played by LAFC in the Open Cup, we got out played LAFC in the League's Cup, we got out played most of the season. We didn't win the Cascadia Cup. Zero silverware. Yes, it was a good story, yes we

said that. A terrible start of the season and then obviously a very good long run and some developing players and some guys that you would never have think of that, you know, you'd think as the last guy off the bench is now starting, you know, the Georgie's the Paul Rothrocks. It's just but it was not excess. We also had probably I think if you want to average it out, I have to milk at the numbers for about this

but the lowest attendance in Seattle history. So you want to talk about a successful season when nothing came of it.

Speaker 5

Well that's sports. That's that's why we show up every single year, right, and and each season is its own book, its own has its own plots and subplots, and so you look at it and you say, okay, we have had our moments here of great silverware with teams that are rolling right, and then we and then this was a season where we had to deal with a lot of injuries, we had to deal with a lot of coming from behind. And so yeah, I mean I get and and that's spoken like a player who has just

finished right, and and so that's how the players. I bet the players will have that viewpoint a lot of.

Speaker 4

Them, well, players, fans, coaches, I mean, you know, because because this and yes it's a war, we have a warped reality of what this league is because Seattle has been so good so many times, They've won a lot of trophies for just coming in in two thousand and nine. So look, it's it's a warped reality, but maybe it is. Yes, a player's perspective of we just the success of a season and having a decent season or having good stories

in a season or two different things. But if you ask if it's successful, it's a no.

Speaker 17

For me.

Speaker 5

You know it's and I'll bet you the coaches are going to say the same and the players are going to.

Speaker 4

Say this absolutely when you go into that, when you go into the preseason, the first day, first week, it's like, look, it's a long season everything, but there is one goal here. There's only one goal. It is not too Yes, you want to be good human beings. You want to play well, you want to you know, have a you want to have a tight knick. You want to better yourself, everyone to have the right amount of money and all the

things right. And you want some Swan song story of a young player who's playing well or someone on the bench like all of a sudden becomes a starter is having a great season. You want to break out season for someone, But every single whole time you walk into that room that first day, your only goal is silverware.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I think it's I think it's a really good, good take, and I think that a lot of fans, a lot of fans will agree with you on that because this this season is left unfinished because we lost on one simple mistake and we don't get to host Ims Cup and it's it's no, it's no hardware. I think it's it's a good take that I think a lot of people are gonna have, and I think people will have your take, Pete. I think people will have my take, and I think that a lot of people

will have Kellen's take. And the reality of the situation is that what's that's what makes up this fan base, and it's such a diverse and you know, well educated and.

Speaker 3

Thought out fan base.

Speaker 2

And I think our fans are just tremendous because they are so knowledgeable about the game and this team, and the coverage of this team is so good to for for fans to just to know exactly what's going on. And you know, as we wrap up tonight's broadcast, I think I think it is finally time to end tonight.

Speaker 3

Do you guys have any final thoughts before we.

Speaker 5

Just remind us I've coached three teams in one national champ right we had a team that went to the Final four, and the Hall of Fame committee said, well, should they go in the Hall of Fame? And I said no, right, because the goal is to win the Cup. So I get where you're coming from. A year or two removed, you kind of look at the big picture and you look at all the scenarios and you say, okay. So for me, I'm still I thought it was a very good year, but it's not the standard. I mean again,

Brian Schmetzer. Danny Jackson said it years ago. As a serial winner, right, he was as a player. He won a ton in youth, he won a ton of the pros I mean championships, right, and he's won his share of championships here more than most. But he'll be the one to say, gosh, we could have done better. I mean, they were that close.

Speaker 4

His final thoughts would be, you know, speaking to the fans. The players are going to obviously say other good byes, but think about this season and how the turnovers were. There were some great stories, there were some breakout season players. There are going to be turnovers, and so remember those moments with these players, with this team, There's going to be a turnover for next year, and there's a lot

of positive coming through. There's going to be a lot of youth, youth that already showing their sparks that are gonna obviously mature. There's going to be new players at it. There are going to be some heartbreaking in my everyone has it. There's going to be heartbreaking lead guys that leave, and it's gonna hurt. But you know this, this club is one that wants and will always strive to be the best and to win and to have silverware. And that means they're going to to to purchase and or

go grab some really good players. So I'm really excited. Let's turn the chapter. Let's let's start the new book. If you want, next year is going to be fun.

Speaker 2
