Good evening from e QC Pitch at Lumen Field for this first game of the twenty twenty five MLS season between Your Sounders and Charlotte FC of the Eastern Conference.
For Charlotte, their defensive record was only bested by the Sounders in twenty twenty four, with attacking editions such as Wilfrid Zaha to excite their fan base. Head coach Dean Smith has a year of MLS under his belt and the time to build the team to his liking. For Your Sounders, It's been just over three months since the heartbreaking one Little loss to La Galaxy and the Conference finals,
and the sound has been busy during that time. New players have joined the squad, including MLS veterans Jesus Ferrera and Paul Ariola, and others have left, including Josh Atensio and Ral Ruidis. Right Schmetze said this preseason has been the most productive in many years and the squad is the most connected. He has seen all ingredients for a strong start to their campaign. With Club World Cup, Conker CAFF Champions Cup, League's Cup and MLS Cup to compete
four in twenty twenty five. It's gonna be some year. And for the MLS regular season. It starts tonight. I'm Danny Jackson alongside our all star casts tonight former Sounders winger Steve zach Kuani here in the booth and Michelle Ludka down on the sidelines.
So the teams get ready to go.
Let's get you the starting eleven for your Sounders. A couple of changes for Brian Schmitzer after the win down in Antigua in midweek, Cefan Freyan gol.
Are back three or four.
We'll see how it works up. We're gonna put a four out there. Alex Roldan, Yemar Reagan and nu who Obed Vargas and Christian Roldan sit in front. Georgia Menungo steps in on the right hand side. Albert Rusnak starts in the number ten after such a great season last year and getting that third goal in Antigua in midweek. Paul Rothbrock comes on the left hand side, and then Jordan Morris, after his stell season last year, plays up
top for Charlotte. They're playing a four to three to three kleenering goal burn, Milanda Privet and Reem in the back. Neil Westwood and Williamson in the midfield and up a Barbada, Azeramang and Vargas up front.
So as the scarves go up.
See, the Sounders got some season in front of as we mentioned, lots to compete for as the kickoff gets going.
But what about tonight will the Sounders have to do to get a win.
Fast start than if we want to see that this twenty twenty five season, we don't repeat mistakes of the past, and that means coming out and not just tonight but all seasons on having a fast start at home first fifteen to twenty minutes, That first tackle, that first head off, that first shot on goal, that was was my mindsetting home openers, you want to make sure you send a message.
And tonight, after the great midwee performance, you want to follow it up with another three points because that kind of a defeat will deflate sort of what's been a very optimistic offseason so far, and Bran Schmess has quite a very strong team already.
We should see a good game tonight.
Early fouls on Fargus stepping in for the missing Wilfrid Zaha who's at home in Charlotte for the birth of his child and is Fargus.
Saus a nurse that little kick from New Who for the first time this evening and this season we're gonna throw down to Michelle Ludka. Good evening, Michelle, good evening.
You guys standing close over here to New Who on the sideline right now. Oh as New Who is handed a yellow card, the first card of the season so far, and you can see displeasure from Albert Rusnak, who I had a chance to speak to earlier tonight about tonight's game, and you know, he's coming off a record setting season and he is not happy about this call that just was given out to New Who's so early on and he is making sure the referee.
Here's his thoughts on that.
But in speaking to him earlier, I asked him, you know, last year was so great for him, what is his personal goals for this season? And he told me that he doesn't have any personal goals don't matter. All that matters are team goals, and the team goals is to win as many trophies as possible. They've got five opportunities across five different cops.
He shouldn't do that this year.
And the quest for the Major League Soccer Trophy starts tonight against Charlotte.
Yeah next Michelle as Georgia Meningo gets a little nick in the back at the heels by Tim Reen.
Came in last year after a stellar career in the English Premier League less with Fulham.
He was at Bolton Wanderers as well as a great diagonal and it's near sight to Rock on left corner of the box, signed up by Burn good little tackle clipped away by Westwood, the captain for Charlotte again another former Premier League player Sam Knew, who does win the ball clean.
He has the bulb on the left hand.
Side with his left foot, asking Rothbrock to move, which said the back post just eludes Georgia Menunga on.
The back stick.
Tim Reen picks the ball up quickly picked up by roll Down as he challenges Williamson. Former Portland Timbers player of course, who's made the switch in the off season to Charlotte as they build out the back.
Played along by.
Privett, got a new contract last year. Also shifted from the number thirty four to the number four slot to mention Charlotte great defensive record last year thirty seven goals. Again, it's only bested by the Sounders with thirty five Sounders the last two years have been the best defense in MLS.
The ball sits on the far side the right.
Sounders in their anniversary kit. Second the goal to our left tonight the north end. Typical end to attack in the first half as Rothrock has it on the left, whips him towards the fast stick, headed up in the air. Jordan Morris brings it down inside the eighteen yard box, goes to Georgia Menungo clicked him.
By, rolled on towards the backstick just to lose Rothrock.
Can he keep it in Note the assistant referee on the far side puts his flag up.
It's gonna be a goal. Kit remains nil nil here in the fourth minute.
Steve Zachquanny, Well, good start by the Sounders, getting lots of switches and pulls out wine and things like that. I feel Christian or done. Maybe it's a good idea. Try to get across him, but he maybe could have taken this. He's in a box, had time, hat space even take a touch and try and fight at a ball.
Try to across to the back post as it was just over here for Paul rough Rock.
But it's been a very good start by the Sound, who's playing really on the front four hit early and putting Charlotte under pressure.
Yeah.
One of the areas of focus in the off season and in pre season was how can the Sound just be more gold dangerous and the attack in third and see it feels like you might as well start from a defensive standpoint.
High press forced Charlotte to be uncomfortable try and pick the ball up.
In those areas that can be dangerous in transition.
Yeah, high press definitely. And he's got a personal I fee the signings he made, and we'll see it earlier in the season already. And listen, this is why I'm not a fan of referees given early yellow cards, because he's now backed himself into a corner. Because there's no difference between that foul Knew who just gave and the one who was booked four.
I don't think either one of yellow cards.
But what's the rational now you give a yellow card after thirty seconds? Knew who missed times another challenge and it's just now the referee he's made his bed. He's got all a very tang game now, and that's why you've got to be a bit more leaning with cards.
So two things and new Who experienced player, does he need to get involved there so far away from his And then the second thing is that was Vargas for the second time getting clipped by new Who.
You've been a winger. What are you asking for now? Probably ask him for the ball to your feet and to go attack new Who every time.
And the thing the attacking plays is you can lose the battle many times. You just have to be correct once You've got to beat the guy once I knew Who. Now how he defends Fargus rest of the game, He's gonna have to be careful. One mistime challenge, one mistake tackle, and he'll be off the pitch.
So for Vargas' advantage.
Absolutely the license to kind of drive and be direct and ask you who all kinds of questions.
Sounders looking sharp in these early minutes.
Neil Neil here sixth minute, lumen Field ninety three point three KGr FM, wherever you're listening to us in the.
Car back from sports as bar Gas gets clipped this time by Bill who came in.
Last year he was on loan, went away. They re signed him. Been a big pick up for them in the off season alongside zahar As we mentioned Williamson as well. But Sounders have an early chance now free kick on their left hand side. The Rosenack the lone Sounders player over the ball Georgia Manung to his left. It's about thirty yards or so from the end line left of center.
There to be a chance for that right foot of Rosenack to clip it in and curl it in towards Kallina's goal cleaner being the twenty twenty four MLS goalkeeper of the Year. Here it comes towards the backsp towards Jackson. Regan hits it down in the six yard box, wasn't able to get a full connection to it, didn't challenge the goalkeeper, but no Sounders were able to pick it up. And there's that high press from Rosnak this time as it plays the ball to the right hand side for
Georgie Simon in the crowd. As he picks up the ball, steps by rear with ease us across the six yard box, cleared by the back line of Charlotte out for a throwing on the far side for the Sounders.
I love a bit of proud a player that Georgie gets your for seat man so direct and especially while Dan gave him the board.
Anytime he's one.
On one he has to go out of the defender every chance he gets. With more time than not he'll be successful.
Here's that man Georgie again, right corner of the box, goes back to Vargas, back to Alex Roldan stays on side, whips it into the backstick.
There's rath Rock, goes up, whens the ball, climbs.
Over Burn go kick It's it just wide and clean as posts, but not a great connection by Paul, but he rows up well. Sounders again trying to find those delivers from the outside dangerous.
So far, not able to make the breakthrough.
Okay, and it's been a good start and beginning. I don't know how long you can high press. This has definitely spoken off hey first ten to fifteen minutes. Let's let them know they're in a game. Let's make Blumenfield a fortress again. And the Sounders are doing everything right so far, haven't troubled a goalkeeper yet. But it's been a very very good start. At some point the game will settle down. Sharlotte will have their moments, probably in transition,
but he's for the Sounders. With this kind of dominance, you want to start turning it into good looks at gold and hopefully you get one in the back.
Of the net.
Well none rolls it back to Steph and Fry decked out and kind of bright red orange.
They can definitely see him in this dreary day in Seattle.
Rain kind of flushing across the field makes the surface slick, which the Sounders will certainly like.
And Charlotte coming all the way from the East coast not a typical whether they've experienced on a day to day basis out there in North Carolina. Fourth season in MLS for Charlotte. The ball goes over the top by Westward, first time, picked up well by Yamar. Another stellar season for Yamar. Last year it was twenty twenty three where he was nominated with Defender of the Year.
Last year it was actually his teammate Jackson Reagan who was nominated, but it really could have been either one. How good for Brian Schwetz to have those two as your anchor in the back line alongside roll Down and new.
And they've talked about playing three in the back.
Steve obviously playing four today, maybe potentially to isolate Tim Breen playing my left back against Georgie.
Or natural right winging position.
But how do you see bryanch bets are using those different formations and using the depth of the squad.
Yeah, I think as we've seen in the past couple of years, knew who struggled me to stay home a bit more. I think you definitely want to see Alex rod Dunn kind of back to where was a couple of years ago as an attacking threat driving forward, and so you'll kind of see them defending on their back three. At times we've knew who at home and Alex row Dan with more license to be the one to join the attack. But that back for has been solid past
couple of years. The issues I've not been defensively, it's been on the other side of the pitch. You've mentioned the Amar and Rage. Both could have been in mnstam of the Year last year. Both could have been nominally for the Defender of the Year. They've been very very good. You ad knew who Alex Rodan is a very good back four in front of a course, they're still ongoing legendary Stephan fry.
Yep Stepan fry in the sticks again this year. That perhaps the most shutouts for a goalkeeper in playoffs, and then, of course since just behind number one and number two spot right now and shuts outs in his MLS careers. The ball goes long, it's up by burn, headed across the field, cleaned up by Triven, it just hoooks it up into the night sky, bounces just treat Beale and rolled on because you'd headed to Vargas, so it feels
Vargas and rolled on. Bank it themselves in the middle of the park and as a Sounders build.
Out of the back, we're going to throw it down to Michelle.
Thank you, Danny.
And we're seeing our second lineup in as many games for the Sounders in twenty twenty five so far, and that's because Brian Schmetzer has a lot new pieces to work with this year, a deep team, deeper than we've seen in the past. He's got young guys that are pushing, mid ring, guys that are fighting for spots, and top guys that are looking over their shoulders.
As a result.
Because of this depth, Ryan Schmitzer tells us he is very excited about all the different possibilities and he is not going to be afraid to make substitutions, change things up when the matches need it to be, because he's got so many options and pieces to the puzzle this year.
Yeah, thanks Michelle. Alex rail Dan.
Has mentioned the stalwart goes to one of those new players in the lineup tonight, Georgie Menungo. Georgie gets in now, that'll step over from Alex rol Dan towards the end.
Then he goes on the right hand side. Try to beat Rien again. It does with ease twice now already in the first ten minutes. It's beating the experienced Reem. And sometimes it doesn't matter how much experience you have, Steve.
When it's Georgia Menunga in his youthful legs against Tim Reem who's got miles on his legs.
He's gonna be a long now for Tim rematy. Georgie's gonna win that bout. Every time brash mets on Tom du trump Wolf did call him the offseas gonna say, hey, we watch Georgia every day and there is a little bit off. Steve zac Quater you and new so I love that great compliment, Bud. We'll see Georgie already and again maybe he'll be more of an impact player off the bench, but when he does get in the start, there's no one on the team who does what he does.
It's so hard to.
Consistently beat your man in generate offense, and he does that with ease, and he'll be You can's sad.
Tim rings in Frog for a very long evening tonight.
We'll sound as FC Socke is presented by prominent Swedish official healthcare partners of Sounders FC.
As the ball got clear picked.
Up by Bargas who gave it away and then it was a foul by Yamar Up.
The field did not sit back. It's a little bit and he's a clearance by West What actually guys, Heel's clip's going to be a foul and a free kick for Charlotte inside their defensive path of the field. Privet Milander, again playing in the back line. Green, as we mentioned, came in in twenty twenty four last summer, stepped him well by now picked up, I rolled on rolled it out to this near side, right in front of the Charlotte bench.
Paul Rothrock and a stellar breakout year last year. Paul Rothrock Sounders built far side the right with Yamar inside.
The attack in half of the field goes back to Georgia. Mnungo whipped it in this time. Certainly an era of focus has been his delivery and his end product. Certain he's seen some quality coming from already.
He clicks the ball in towards Rosnak, clear by west would only clear it over the end line, not the clear and set Ashley Westwood would want.
But another chance for the Sounders from the corner kick.
And it's relentless right now. It's the exact start the Sounders would have wanted. Everything seems to be going down the right hand side of You're right, Daney. It's that final end product that's a missing piece, and that's usually what's last to come. But first you're even just happy to consistently get into those positions. And the sound is now of a chance to make a set piece count and try and get the North in the front.
Want to kick by Rosnak, cleared away, headed back in by Vargas, top of the box, headed by Yemar, picked up by Westwood. Captain for Charlotte finds Williamson well won by Reagan as he.
Was coming back managed to clip it, but.
Charlotte do have in possession with Meal as he rolls it out to Privot. Build up from the back by Charlotte breaks the line out to the far side the left to Nabada, Israeli international him in last year as well, exciting dynamic players. Certainly Dean Smith has focuses energies last year on the defensive side.
Of the game. They defend deep, they absorbed pressure.
Mentioned only thirty seven goals against last year, but it's been in the attacking third of the field where.
They've really worked on in bringing in players.
You mentioned Zaha not playing tonight, but Ajia Mang has had incredible year last year.
They got his US national team debut in the off season, so he's brimming with confidence. A big powerful player up there.
Yeah is and I think for shot and they won't dominate possession. De Smith as a coach I know very well, gave Minted that a little bit later. But their team the alound transition.
Here's Rothrock inside the box left hand side, rolls its square cut out by Beale finds Williamson. Here we go for Charlotte now in transition. As they crossed the half way line, Aba Transphonen azier Man tried to clip it around.
Ragan has the right idea, but it all goes at the top. This simeon it's a foot roll see Morris and Milanda out comes Kaleen. There is a danger world. Books it up into the night sky.
Good Win by Georgie clips to the right hand side by Russneck to Morris, who's under control.
Back to Rossnick top of the box, right hand.
Side, rolls it out to Georgie, just leaves it a little short. He has prevent a chance to slide in clear his lines thrown by the sounders.
Quickly in on the right hand side to rolled down. Clip around the corner by Russick. Good play by the sounders.
He's rolled on, whipped it in, cleared by Melander top of the box, challenged by Georgie. Good Win pulls it out to Abada and to ream inside the box.
Calm possession out of pressure by Charlotte. As the sounds continue to.
Press high up the field forces the ball to go long. Sound as easily win it. Sixteenth minute Here a QC pitch luomin field sounders nil, Charlotte nil.
It's the exact start. Bransh messer I would have wanted. You know, you want to make it fast tart. You talk about playing the game sort of in fifteen minute blocks. Free first on that first half, the first fifteen absolutely belongs to the sound is disappointed, maybe having generated direct looks on gold, but everything else, the recovery of the board depressing, getting the ball out wide. It's better to Georgie being very dangerous crosses into the box. Hasn't materialized
into anything tangible yet. But that's the kind of start you wanted for Charlotte.
Just one.
How long can you can you take this? Can you keep defending? Dropping deep, dropping deep? Before at some point something gives.
A cushion headed by Rothrock he isn't able to connect with Jordan Morris mentioned Jordan Morris had a career year last year, thirteen goals in his campaign in the regular season, five goals.
To assists for Paul Rothrock last year.
It wasn't long ago when he was running for Defiance, getting his chance at US Open Cup, got his professional contract in twenty twenty three, came into preseason last year, she said, Hey, I've got to focus trying and be consistent as a foul given by the referee in the middle of the park. Asa man on the ground holding his face, rolled on fell only right now, no cards given.
Yeah, we'll see how reply here.
But I think for Christian or Done, any contact would have been incidental. Boar just kind of got away from him, Naja man guess his body between man and board and I mean yeah, and.
It feels like he almost wrapped rolled down up first.
I actually thought that should be the sound as way and that's maybe what. Yeah, that's not happy. He was arguing that he's the one that was found. There was not much contact on Ajamanda. I don't think he did do anything like that. Lost his foot in two players colliding, and maybe it's one you just let go.
You know, it is a physical game, it's a contact sport. You let that one go.
I don't really understand what the referee saw. The tombs are foul against Christian.
Or with burned down the line, quick turn by feel, but covered well by Sounder's back line. Here comes rolled on ice ball between the lines.
Finans rosnek baard it out to roth on it's near side the left ten yards from the end line in the left channel, just cuts it towards his right foot goods.
Step by Milander big range eat tall central defender stepped across, won the ball. Charlotte come out in possession.
Williamson rolls it from center to the far side the left to Tim Reeve.
One of the new.
Rules that MLS have instilled this year, it's a couple of last year, of course, at the substitution rule and of course the timing of players coming off the field.
An injured player unless it's a yellow.
Card or concussion, if they go down required treatment they have to come off for two minutes has really sped out the game.
No shortage, just speaking this game well comes in there.
Jordan Morris, Sounders get off the board early here at lumin Field and get there.
MLS campaign off to a great start and it's Jordan Morris Sounders won Charlotte nil.
Oh.
It's a fantastic finish by Jordan Morris. To run to the near post is brilliant. We're gonna see a replay here, but all those chairs and applause.
As much as for Jordan, it's also for Georgie.
He's made such a great.
Start to the game here and that was a fantastic cross.
Puts Acording to the danger air of the near post. There it's a great both right behind the defenders and that's a good finish man. Jordan Morris has been telling us I'm a number nine, I'm a number nine, and goes like that back up his claim, but that is a fantastic crossed by Georgie's from the right hand side right behind the back line. You can't really do much as defender.
Between back line and goalkeeper and Jordan doing what all great strikers do being in the right position, and all you've got to do is get good contact. What you did is in the back of the net. Sound is deservedly up one nil.
Well as the referee just holds up the kickoff right now as they get pause, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle.
Thank you, Danny.
In speaking with Jordan Morris this preseason, he said that this group is closer than any locker room that he's ever been a part of since joining the Seattle Sounders, and a testament to that is how much they want to work and play for each other. He also said it's been so clear of their objectives and goals this preseason of getting more bodies in the box, and just after that goal and that play that we saw executed
so beautifully. Brian Schmetzer walked over to me and showed me his notes that literally word for word, was writing down three minutes before that goal, that that was the play that he needed to see to happen from his team. And the fact that they were able to execute that without hearing the message from their head coach. It just shows how in sync this group is with the coaching staff, the messaging and what they need to do to pull out wins and of course score as many goals as they can.
Yep, thanks Michelle.
Sound is fully deserving of that leads twenty first minute here at I you see pitch Lumenfield Sounds lead one goal to nil off Jordan Morris. We just mentioned that Jordan Morris came off for a career year in terms of goal scored last year.
So carry's right off and all gets flicked today.
It was it clearest by Fry the found itself so Westwood maybe he hooked it over the top. Shit, I think it was Arbada found sever and fire off the line just goes over the top.
Sounders get it back into play quickly with.
Christian Roldan great switch over play from center to this near side the left in behind it goes to Jordan Morris picks it up left corner of the box, challenged by right back. Burn goes square to Vargas, wriggles free pressure by roaldn Good, little quick feet trying to get.
Away from pressure, goes down. Referee gives the fowl. It's been pretty.
Generous in terms of foils given so far, Steve. We saw one down just a minute ago when Michelle was talking. It looked like a fowl. This time it's for the Sounders benefit. Twenty five yards or so, just right of center.
Yeah, I think it's been a little to involve the refuel. Not nothing but gregious hit. But let the game flow. The players want to players going. Really what for the Sounders right the slick surface, all of that, it's helping them passing And that last attack was very good. As the boll came to Christian Roddan, he was trying to get a touch out and then a finish and you couldn't quite do so. But it's been a great start by the Sounders. Honestly, this has been a really fun
twenty one minutes to watch. Just on the front four I spoke about in this week the keys of the game. The front was gonna be dynamic, and then you have hasies for Aeron, Pola, rionla Ir Reserve. So it definitely there's a lot of optimism around what this attacking group could finally do after a couple of social years.
Well there's Rosenak, now another career year for him, ten goals, sixteen assists. Can he get his campaign off in the regular season? Here he steps up, clips off the top of the wall, goes wide. It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders, another chance for them to score. As the players inside the Boxos Vargas, he's been on the turf more than he has been off the turf so far. It's been flattered in by new a couple of times. This time he gets a ball on this
side of the head from the Rosneck free kick. It's gonna require the coaching staff to kind of run on. As we're mentioning one of the things about new rules in MLS, the new one that they brought in in the off season was if you need to speak to the referee, it's kind of falling onto the captains. Now they're trying to get away from this, you know, this crowding out by the referee. In terms of communication, it falls on the captain. Yeah, he's the only one that can communicate to the referee.
Yeah, and I do like that, and I know that FIFA has been trying to get that for years because you do want to see a freezeer respect.
It's such a tough job and we'll see how that's enforced. But I'm watching right now.
If I'm Charlotte, my players down who've kind of got a chance to regroup, maybe have a conversation and just say, hey, let's get a grip of this game.
They haven't done that. No one's talking.
So it tells me a little bit about the makeup of that team right now, because this first twenty three minutes has been one team minute and one nil. Could have maybe been two lif to Salmon's or a bit more Clinquin crosses. I'd want to see a tim Reem or one of the leaders, get a few of the guys together and just start to organize a bit and say, hey, when a game restarts, you know, we're getting. It's like a time out in basketball. You're getting right now, and
if not taken advantage. They're all just kind of standing around, and it just tells me that there may be a little bit shell shock. They came in here probably expecting a fas start from the Sounders. But this is as good as I've seen the Sounders looking and opener in many, many years, where you're at home, you're letting your opponent node.
We're here and it just looks so dynamic.
And it's a different group somewhat to what we had in midweek, which was also the performance.
So I let's say dynamic, I think is a good word. They look fit, they look strong. Brian Schmize talked about their build up during pre season.
It's been one of the most productive preseasons that Brian Schmitzer has had as head coach or yeah, even really his assistant coach.
Yeah, it's all.
Been predicated on getting the players ninety minutes fit early because they know they're going to have to hit the ground running.
Yeah, and I think he knew he has to get this attacking group going. There's too much talent there and last season. Look, I love the season. Jordan Morris Side loved the season. Albert ross n I had, but you need more, you need more production, even as far back as Alex Rodn. I wanted to see him kind of get back to where he was a couple of years ago. And that's why I think the additions of Ariola and Ferrera, who both played their part significantly in midweek as a
Dela Vega was scoring a great goal. They're on the bench and the attacking group hasn't missed a beat. We did not have this in the past couple of years. And again it's very early days, early doors, but historically when this seam has come out in the home opener, obviously the normal game is a standard, it usually leads to a good start. I don't want to be here in May or June waiting for a magical turn around with all those big games coming.
Let's just get to a good start, and we're seeing that so far.
Well.
The good starts started certainly on goal. Nineteen goals scored in preseason, only seven given up three goals of causing its antigua scored and then the one tonight, so already.
Very early parts of the season, twenty three goals scored. That's only going to give a ton of confidence to the team going forward, especially in the department that Brian Schmitzer has really focused on in the offseason and preseason, as we mentioned, and he got Ferreira as you mentioned in Ariola sitting on the bench and Dela Vega who's
been in scintillating form this year. Four goals in his preseason campaign and of course scores an absolute banger from thirty yards or so with a slight deflection.
Yes, but he looks fit, he looks strong. He had not up and downed season last year, of course due to injury, but really got a good preseason.
And I think we said it, can we just please get him a preseason. We had Prockey on the Sounders FC podcast with the end of last year and he said, look, just get me Pedro in full preseason, which he has looks like a different player already. And of course the Sounders now have the luxury to kind of pick and choose, and I think the land up will be pretty set. We'll see a lot of changes in up front for Jordan and Albert, yes, but the other two spots maybe will be a lot more interchangeables.
Vargas has now made his way off the field, getting a couple of runs head injuries of course, or an area of real focus for MLS and sports in general, not taking any chance to Did it come the sound as short corner? This sound Georgie to Rusnak whips it in towards the fast stack.
How does that stay out?
It was it was Yamar on the back post somehow cleared off the line by Kalena.
You may have the flag up.
Yeah.
If the flag didn't go up, I mean if he is offside, it would have been very tight. My only concern for the Sounders now is you want to get a second goal. We've been around MLS too long. You can be this dominant almost sixty percent possession, you know, beginning to generate so many crossed from.
The right hand side. It's starting to get on the end of it now.
But at one nail, it just takes one transition attag Obviously, Ajeman's a dangerous presence up there. Can you get that second goal and get your norse to this front. That will no doubt be the message coming from the bench from Bran schmadzun Precky because you cannot be dominant like this for nineteen minutes. They will have a spell and you want to make sure you're giving us off a cushion.
By that point, where's Charlotte in possession inside the Sounders half of the field, albeit just a few yards inside. And now the all goes down the line.
Look back here from Beale tries to find Vargas back on the field.
After getting some treatment for that hen head injury.
Is new who Jordan Marri's good quick, sharp turn and a flick of the outside of the the to Georgia Minongo overlapping run by Jordan, who is right. Georgia has the top of the box, finds Jordan right channel rolls it back to Alex Roldan, Sounders in full support going.
Forward given away by our guess. All goes down the line to Azji.
Man runs down Exeph Fry sees the danger, clears the ball down the line, cushion headed by Rheen.
Charlotte had possession.
It's done really well so far.
Sound As we've been talking and waxing lyrical about the attacking player, which we should, but defensively getting back quickly when the border is lost.
Defensive transition has been very good so far.
Here's Beale right channel for Charlotte just down from us. The ball gets whipped in by Burn comes off the back of the Sounders midfield miscontrolled by Roth rock balls out our neat yards or so from the corner flag on this near side.
Charlotte in their new Fortress kit tonight, black shirts, black shorts, black socks, attacking the gold to our right south bend one nil Sounders twenty ninth minute EQC pitch Luminfield, ninety.
Three point three KGr FM.
Good solid start by the sound as well, deserving of the lead came out of the blocks firing made Charlotte feel very uncomfortable this first thirty minutes or so of the first game of the MLS campaign. Of course, it's Sounder's second competitive game after winning three to one on the road in Conkerkeeff champions Cupping. It's Antigua who will be back to play that second leg in Seattle at Lumenfield on Wednesday night.
All goes down the left hand side to reem as child trying to settle themselves down the break, as Steve zach Roni mentioned to kind of settle themselves. Goes over the top of Vargas from Melander.
It's gonna be a throwing for the Sounders on this near side.
Knew who has it ball in his hands, and we'll see if a Sounders do play more three at the back this year, expect they will.
Knew Who, of course, had a stellar season when the Sounder did play three at the back.
One of the six picks in that MLS All Star Game for the.
Fargas just a little bit of miscommunication with after he went inside, ball went outside.
Yeah, I felt Rough Rock should have taken off right away the moment your midfielder turns, when you're a winger, just take off and it's on Fargas. Then to get the timing right, that pass is going to go between the right back and the right center back. You don't want the board to feet there and rough it's rough Rock front. That's why I determined to kind of pass Fargus make but he was indecisive and in the end if pass came behind him, so that's a missed opportunity.
Barbada cuts it to his right, clips into bild Boar, bounced around, cleared eventually by.
Knew Who somewhere awkwardly, But it's a matter for the Sounders defense.
They clear their lines.
Now where Alex rolled on, Jordan Morris tries to steady his feet gets pulled down.
No fount given by the referee.
Charlotte come again on this near side with Burn tucked him from that right back spot, clips Or from center to far side the left so abbaat Droptor's left shoulder, comes on his right foot to Williamson, clips towards the back stick to Vargas outstretched right foot cut quite under control, roles over the end line. It's a big goalkick sounders.
They need one nil, which is some signs, not big one ship, but some signs of Charlotte FC come into life. They're a team that can cause you problems. And the Smith's are very very very good manager obviously did some great work at times for aston Bill in the Premier League and Stephen Jerdi as assistant coach. D Smith coached me when I was sixteen seventeen years old and trying to get fit with a small team in England called Leyton Orient. And D Smith also played with my brother when.
He broke through.
He was a captain Eleonora and there were center back partners. So I've known these Smith's for a very very long time. Great guy, very very good coach, and haven't had a chance to see mem yet. Tonight, but it would be nice to kind of catch up because he was a great coach and they're not a reserve team. And I played there for about a month or so before I came over to play for Acron.
Made his way up all the way through the ranks. Of course, coaching his hometown team in aston Villa. Has success there as well, of course, and yeah, very liked individual, no messing around, defensively minded in some ways, but certainly has added some firepower in this offseason. But we haven't seen that firepower.
Sephand Fry has been a spectator for most of this first half.
All goes in behind, tries to find Jordan Morris. Of course he's gonna be knocking on the door.
Ral Rudy has his eighty six or comp goals for the Sounders. He sits number one, Jordan Morris now sitting right behind.
Him at number two.
Because not today's game, it's gonna be in the very near future where Jordan Morris will surpass Raoul. Of course left last year after a stellar season and sell career, I should say with the Sounders stop start season for him has started well, still had eight goals in his campaign and then Jordan Morris's success during the course of the year, especially when he stepped back into that number nine role about halfway through the season, didn't allow Raoul much of a sniff.
Yeah, and I think and that's what feels different.
You know that some of the best years in this club's history has been the Nikoadero and raw Rudias era, but you had to move on from that, and the sound has done in a good way by adding, as we've mentioned Farrera and Arina in particular, maybe you are fresh on the vega and that reaction from the crowd is the same reaction I'm feeling now. There's been too many tip tap for the referee. Yea, I must having a word now. I think both teams want to in
the game flow a bit more. He's calling a lot of tick to Tackie Fowls that maybe he's got to see himlet go and play the game.
I don't know that.
He's had to be as involved as it's had to be, but it puts Charlotte in a danger position here about you know, thirty thirty five yards from goal, a chance to get them bought into the box and try to get themselves claw back their way into the game and get level before the halftime whistle.
And sometimes the conversation we always have is that the refugees to understand the environment is going in.
It's the first game of the season. Players are going to be at it.
They're gonna be energetic, They're gonna maybe be half a step two slow, just trying to get themselves back in the season.
They have to also understand, yeah, what's going on.
That's what the amount of fouls we've had in a yellow or new who haven't seen any malicious really back tackles so surprising.
Well, there's beal clips towards the backstick bounces through the Vargas good defended by rolled Don.
Just heads it over the end line. As the ball bounced through as Vargas was sniffing on that backstick, it's gonna be a corner kick for Charlotte as they trying to get themselves back into this game. Thirty fourth minute here at Luminfield, Sounders continue to lead one goal to NILK.
First game of the MLS campaign tonight on a wind swept, rainy night here at lumin Field.
But the Founds are still out green Mac's on.
Standing up and I think they want to sit down on those plastic seats right now.
I love it.
Wet will continue to stand in the lower ball and the fortunate few in the club section say the ball comes in, there's a poor, poor goal giving up by the Sounders.
You can hear the crowd just be silent.
There was a ball whipped in by Beale and it was a towering header. It puts the ball in the back of the net and puts Charlotte on the board.
Sounders one, Charlotte one and.
Listen, I guess the run of play, yes, but that danger exists. And that's why I said about ten minutes ago. As long as you one nail up and haven't got that second goal, that cushion. In this league, any team has a chance at any point. The Sounders will be disappointed because you work on set pieces.
He's a set place. You want to be set. You want to stick with your man and to.
Give a free header pretty much inside the six yard box there Stephen Fryer has no chance.
Charlotte maybe on this other.
Of the soul, but if clowed the way back one one and for all the Sounders, good work. It's undone by some really lax defending them, and that the at this level they know they've got to be better than that. We've said how good it be defensively you can't give up that kind of goal. But the Sounders now have to find a way to get himselves back ahead.
Yep.
It was Jackson Reagan who seemed to be the closest player to Melanda, who rows up, as we mentioned, just six yards out or so easy header past Stephan Fry didn't have a chance to make the same or react. Charlow right back into it, and the sound does hard work all the way through to the thirty fifth minute. It's been undone somewhat by Charlotte. Sometimes they had inches. When you're on top, you're gonna find that second goal.
Sounders have been guilty of it last year when they've had dominance and being able to find that second goal.
But can they find themselves back into the game now, of course they have, but let Equalis a goal in midweek.
All comes in fluff clearance by Westwood, cleaned up by Privet, clears his lines headed down by Jackson Reagan challenges as you bang very well and Sound has come away that farstside the right to Georgia can he get a little
bit more involved? Towards the end of this first off, think it'll be quiet last fifteen minutes, But here comes George towards the endline, whips it in, headed up and a way by Privet, bounces to the foot of new not the place to try and flick it over the head of Vargas gives it away, but they quickly rolled on comes up and cleans up the mess and wins the ball back the Sounders.
And ask for the Sounders, And now it's gonna be critical in which you want to be critical of this team at times that the standards are so high.
You've got very a little bit.
We haven't seen much of rough Rock getting on the bader, getting it behind the finc he done well last year. It's been very right side dominant the attack. Yes, Georgie, he's been flying down that side, so you're gonna keep feeding him. But you want to vary your attack just a little bit more for the Sounders, and he start to get pull Ruffick a bit involved. He obviously showed how good and how impactful he could be last season.
Do you want to see a bit more of him?
The Sounders win the throwing on the left hand side quickly and by far.
Guess throws a bet to new Who's rolls it back to Jackson Reagan. Well, this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer one one here EQC pitch Luminfield Sounders got off the board early with Jordan Morris, and then a set piece poor defending by the Sounders gave Charlotte chance to tie it up. It took full advantage of it. Here comes Georgie again.
This time Jim Reem stands up to him. Well, Georgie, backley for it.
Well wins it.
Back to roll Down, you's got to clip it towards the backstick too long, goes quite and far and over the end line. It's gonna be a goal kick, poor off throat and a chance to maybe sniff on the back post.
But the delivery from rolled down was just a little bit weight war.
Yeah, it's a little bit much.
And then one thing, I think the sound as suit as listen, that goal will be disappointing. It's kind of deflated the place just a little bit. One thing they've done with. I think it took so many games last year to figure out the balance between our build up, our possession, the way Schmats and his staff wants to play.
And I'm being a bit more direct.
I think tonight we've seen a paid direct team trying to make runs in behind, and that's what's been hard for Charlotte to do. But maybe you start to get a bit more control, get Albert Rossack on the board, albed Vargas and start controlling the game that way.
Great touched by Fargas into a bell cut out, initially by Reagan, but Sounders are just trying to clear their lines and it.
Was Reagan who came back from that initial interception.
All he can do is roll the ball over the end line for another corner kick for Charlotte to get here.
About five minutes to go or so in this first half, sound As he just stands strong last corner kick that gave up a goal by.
Milander, extremely tall, strong center back. He walks up, stands on.
The back stick inside the six yard box, this time marshaled by knew who it's gonna be westward with his right foot. It's could be an in swinger on the far side was an inswinger by Beal on this near side with his left foot that caused the problems for the Sounders.
Two arms up in the air by Westwood. Referee just whistles it dead comes over. I think talking to Milander and knew who but about Jibaji inside the eighteen yardbox. Of course New's sitting on an early yellow car, so he has to be careful. Smirks and smiles and knows what he's doing. Westwood again, it's gonna grab the ball, put it on the.
Go on a kick spot. It takes a couple of steps back and just.
Watching the Sounders marketing again as all the Williamson's completely wide open so not man marking at all.
All comes in punch clear, this signed by Fry does command this six yard box. This time there's projects Rays a little slow to get up. Now it gets up just outside his six yard box. Sounders hold their line all on the right hand side to Williams said inside to Vargas clips it in his left foot towards the backstick. Well read by rolled down. Here come the Sounders now in quick transition. George Morris tries to find Georgie down the line cut out by Charlotte.
Here they come again. They've found their feet in the last fifteen minutes or so of Charlotte.
Yeah.
Yeah, And we said that the Sounds with a relentless pace they started. You do that and you tried to get your noses in front.
Which they did. Could you have pushed a bit more.
Because it's not sustainable at some point the other team they've also got quantity there world coach too. They're gonna find them moments which are beginning to have They're not necessarily built to have possession and break you down that way they can. We want to play a bit more transition, so the Sounds just give a push in the last five minutes branch Mess and his staff the message would be goal, find a second gear, find that that second win.
And push again.
Because we saw when the Sounders will be direct boarding behind, running off the board, running, interchanging dynamic.
It was very hard for the Charlotte f C back.
Line to live with just been a bit stagnant last five minutes or soul and Charlotte FC getting a foothold back in the game and of course got himself's leveled.
Sound has come attacking third of the field We're gonna get down to Michelle Ludcu in just a moment. We'll see how this attack transpires down the right hand side to Georgia Menungo, challenged by Reeen, clipped into the box, headed up and away by Milanda, and then again by Rehem. It's gonna be a throwing for the sound of twelve yards from the end line fast side. They're right quickly and by Christian rolled on to Vargas. We'll step forward
to rolled On outside fast side to Alex. Rolled on down the line to Vargas and Sounders find some good delivery into the box.
Jordan Morris is sitting on the penalty spot. It comes Georgie to the backstick. There's Rothrock who rises up again, picked up on this near side by new Who's it runs through.
Let's go through the legs of Fargas. Crowd like.
It doesn't do anything, but Fargas clears his lines a little bit dangerously, but finds the foot of Westward, who flips it over the top to be or good defending by rolled On wins the ball again, rolls to his brother Alex twenty five yards out. Strike pushed away by Collina, picked up by Rothrock this near sight, he'll be thrown for the sound of twelve yards from the end line, throwing in quickly by Rothrock on this near side the left portoch by Knew, who goes down tries to.
Find the free kick.
There's gonna be a throwing for Charlotte, and as they get set for the throwing, right in front of their bench, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle.
Thank you, Danny.
I just wanted to point out the PA Northwest is in a unique weather pattern right now, something called an atmospheric river where we're experiencing heavier rains than we normally do, and.
That is something that is evident. I think it's playing out on the pitch tonight.
The rain is much heavier than a normal Seattle rain, almost more like a tropical type rain or a rain you would see on the East Coast, and I think as a result, you're seeing some of the effects on the pitch with a lot of slipping out here, a touch just being slight off. And so hopefully as we come close to half no one will get their muscles too tight because it's cold, it's wet, and we don't want anyone slipping and getting hurt.
Yep February start to MLS season.
It's been earlier and earlier over the last handful of years, just to start in March.
Now third week in February. Of course Sounders already start their.
Campaign down in Central America three to one winn against Antigua.

A couple of minutes before the end of this game, we'll see how much time there is added on by the referee.
Imagine there'll be a few at.
Least because the Vargas is head injury. There's those clatters into rough Rocke.
If that's not a foul, I was high. That was dangerous.
Refree is holding up play now, and there's absolutely no need for him to stop the play because this is the head injury, which it wasn't.
Is he going to take a look and listen?
I'm not even sure what he's calling it a nine it because it looks like a foul to me, I mean that's a foul, and I'm saying it's a foul based on what we've seen so far. He's caught a lot less than that, and then he's given a drop. I'm I'll let the fans say it, which they are.
I mean, we're not referees.
We'd never analyze a referee performance at all.
But one role I do know is referee should not stop the game unless it's a head injury. When the other team has possession.
Players down bare comes into this near sight to Vargas has been involved in this first half, goes past New with his left foot over the top, go kick. Sounders get towards the end of the forty five Sounders one Charlotte one.
Poor and product. But with New one and yellow, that's what Fargas has to do. Attack, attack, attack.
He did so. You don't often see Knew who get beat.
Maybe he's the hesitation in his mind were he's thinking, no, I can't dive in too much here.
Fargus beat him.
Tried to curl it with his left foot coming from his right hand side, quite horribly wrong.
The Sounders were outstanding.
The first twenty twenty twenty five minutes since then a bit more even and Charlotte as your wait. He will be very happy with how this final ten to fifteen minutes has gone so far. Maybe both seems want to get in rupeople a little bit. We've bought, you know, a lot, I've at the time, man, so there is still time to make a difference. But the Sounders not sustaining that fastart they had.
Yep, six minutes about a time.
As the boar goes in, Tomorrow's from Georgia a little wayward on the past. Just as Michelle was saying, little slick on the field, Charlot's able to build out cross the half way line is Nevada plays them all into Westwood first time ballf and center.
It's near side the right to.
Belle, who of course whipped in that great ball from a corner kick for the Charlotte goal to burn overlapping run on the right and side clips into the box. Block shot by Yamark, clearance by roth Rock playing down his beard. No need to stop the play. Sounders come far side the right with Alex roll On cross.
The halfway line, Georgia to his right, wide open one B one versus reem goes back to Alex rolled on top of the box right hand side to Georgie Menungo stops ball inside the eating yard box right hand side.
Looking for options, has to go back. No real movement inside the box by the Sounders. So what pedestrian right now and the attacking third of the Sounders trying to find an opening.
Here comes new who got a chance to shoot with his.
Left foot, comes off Jordan Morris, no offside given ball comes in from are. Eventually the flag on the far side does go up. I think from the shot the ricocheted off Jordan Morris, who was in an offside position.
It's gonna be a free kick for Charlotte one.
And that attack by the sound is it got way too stagnant. Because when you make your first run as attacking player and you want that movement or pattern of play to manifest, and it doesn't happen, make a second run, recycle, do something else. They all sort of stood in a position. That's Jordan as Albert Russknak, Paul rough Frump, and it was very easy to defend.
It's easy to defend buddies aren't moving.
What the Sounders did well early on, there was there was constant movement that makes it half a defenders to look on with the shoulders not know where the runs are coming from. So it's not just the first run, it's the second, third, forth front. Sometimes you have to make to keep the attack beat that na making no stagnant.
Where's Vargas akain this near side the right challenge by Vargas and Rothrock, But it's able to play.
We'll flick around the corner by deal.
Good play, play pet deel again, sis Man for Melander.
It's gonna be a throwing on this near side by Charlotte. Discount Tire get thirty percent short average weight.
Time when you buy a book online at discount tire dot com. Three minutes of the six of tick by its sounders one Charlotte one. This score of it is presented by provident Swedish Charlotte habit trying to find that second goal put them in front to go into the half. The sounders would stand this late served by Charlotte. Ball comes in cleared by Jamar, easily picked up by Georgia.
Can he go now? It does to get pulled down.
By Williams and briggles free Roznak has it given away, but I as to pick up the ball in the middle of the park, have great options for a Rosneck has to go back to Jackson Reagan certainly. If you'll see there's lots of movement in the first twenty twenty five minutes, quite a little stacker. The ball goes over the top, a freeze flag on the far side is down. Sounders habit outside the foot as far as asking halfheartedly for a ricochet off the armor burn nothing given by the referee.
Sounders have possession in front of Dean Smith and the.
Charlotte bench goes inside by Vargas into roll dar.
Back out to this left hand side. To new who getting involved on this left hand side, of course, we'd love to see you get another goal double his tally for the Sounders were trying to take a shot from twenty five yards that might work out for him, or goes inside slid by Westwood picks the ball up, Grouse asking for a hand or look like Westwood may have stepped or landed on the ball inadvertuently with this hand,
but nothing given by the referee. It's gonna be a thrown for Charlotte on this near side.
Yeah, and I think it's actually just got a bit stagging off the board movement, but I think that's a result of just how hard the sound is. What pressing defensively, I mean, you're in February. You probably don't get your full ninety minute fitness where you're able to run all day, NonStop until a couple into the season, several games into it.
Obviously a lot of these players played heavy minutes in midweek, so halftime's coming out a good time, getting side, regroup and the second off you want to come out and you really want to fly again in our first fifteen minutes. But here's what's different. Off the bench. The players you can bring on are players off equal and in some cases maybe better. So that's something brass Mister has up his sleeve, and it's different to what we've had in the past couple of years.
As Vargas coming up that right hand side, right corner of the box, good challenge by wrath Rock.
Is he gonna be able to save the board before it goes to the end line? He does?
Box it up?
Beal good play by wrath Rock. Been a work mun live performance so far by wrath Rock. Up now on that left hand side, it's low who's just on his knees, see what kind of injury he's suffering from, and just holding his right knee. I think as we ticked towards the end of this six minutes thirty seconds or so left of the six we'll see if the referee adds on a lot more time for.
Knew who And as Michelle mentioned earlier in the half of Branch, Schmetzer has been quoted during the week, there's absolutely no problem making more subs this year because he's got the depth and breadth on his bench, especially with four competitions, but most likely joined the game as and it feels Steve that the insertion of a player like Ferrera, even Ariol and left hands total at that energy.
Yeah, those options.
I mean, Ferrera has got the most goals for a player under twenty five not named Landon Dunfan.
I mean, that's a pretty good company to be.
It's still very young, lot to look forward to, and he's very versatile, can play multiple positions.
Ariola's kind of like in the rough Rock building as well.
Brad Everson i' spoke up and out on the podcast this week where they both kind of give you the same lots of work. Great, he has an eye for goal as well, and of course that a Vega looks reborn, So you do have those options, and at some point you can fit branch Metser won't be afraid to go to his bench if yesterday.
Well up between those two players.
Fifty four goals thirty six assists between.
Ariola and Ferrera in their MLS careers, so firepower to come off the bench still, and of course you still have seen the best of Danny Massovski is also on the bench. The ball goes to the top to Jordan Morris, ball bounced up top of the box to Rosnik eighteen yards out left foot. Ricochet's just clips off the heels of Milander.
It's gonna be a corner kick for the sound as most likely will be the final attack for the men in Breen to tick by the six minute marks.
Seven minutes now added onto the clock. Also there was a little bit of an injury by news added on that time. But the referees allowing this corner kick to happen. It's going to be an outstinger by Rossnack.
Ball comes in heady clear by Riem and that is that referee puts the whistle to his mouth brings the.
First half to an end.
It's been an eventful first half on this first game of the twenty twenty five campaign. Sounders got on the board early in a nineteenth minute with Jordan Morris after a night crossed by Georgie Munungo from that right hand sign, and then Sea did respond in a thirty fifth minute a header from a corner kick by beal By Milander unchallenged in.
The six yard box to make it one. Steve, your final thoughts.
So much to love, so much to like in that first half, But what's gonna stick in these plays minds and a coaching start's mind is just how soft of a bowl they gave up. You worked that hard. You're on top of your dominant. Make them earn it if they break you down. Some wonderful play, A shot from twenty five yards, A scream up, you accept it, A free header inside a six shod box.
That's disappointed.
Well, we'll take a short break, Jackson felt, kellen Roe Pete Feuing will be back to break it all down halftime.

Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.
Forty five minutes in the book sire at Luminfield it is Sounder won. Charlotte won a nineteenth minute goal from Jordan Morris at it his eighty fifth career across all competition goals, one back of rawl Ruy Diaz for first all time in club history. So we're certainly watching that for the next forty five minutes. But then in the thirty fifth minutes, a header goes in. Milanda heads it in past Stephen Frye and that equalised this match a one to one before we end up going.
Into the half at that score.
Welcome into the halftime show, Jackson Feltz, Calen Rowe Pete.
Viewing here for.
The halftime show.
I'll let everybody know that Sounders e FS Soccer is presented by Providence Swedish, the official healthcare partner of Sounders FC.
Callen, what did you see in the first forty five Well.
I talked about the Russ kind of coming off in that first game a little bit in the preseason, and I got a little you know, commentators curse there and I kind of screwed this Sounders a little bit. But the first twenty minutes were good. It was exciting.
It was like the first day of school.
It was energetic, it was fun. They got a coal involved as well. And then you saw a little Russ come through with the maybe a little tired leg as they go through this first part of the season already playing on Wednesday and having to come back again just three days later in and playing on Saturday. So I think you find a little bit of those of those legs and a little bit of that rust coming through that that first game of the of the MLS coming in.
But you know, overall, I think Brian Stech is going to go into that half and go, Look, we had tailor two halves in a half, right.
The first twenty twenty some minutes were great.
After that we were fine, But I want to see a little bit more quality from everyone here.
You talked about the wing play before the game, killing and we had we had twelve crosses in the game.
The ninth cross was the great goal.
It's a great ball wide from Obt just perfectly waited, bent into Georgie's path a little bit and then they caught him napping a little bit, and so Georgia gets in a quick cross. Morris makes a clinical run, terrific finish. That was a great goal for Seattle, and we switched off on that corner kick just a little bit of just a moment, as you say, the rust coming off. But this this Charlotte team is now starting get into the game.
In the last twenty minutes.
They're starting to get a little more comfortable to getting more numbers going forward. Probably they're planned to sit back and whether the Sounders storm, So now it's a forty five minute game if they can continue to get the crosses. But the goal that they got it was pinged wide, pinged back across Morris, great timing finish. If Seattle Dilley Delli's a little bit, it gives Charlotte too much time to get organized. So they got to change the point of attack, get the crossing quickly.
Yeah, we talked talking about the ross you know, look for me, it's the first five games this season.
It's who does the little things correctly.
Yeah, because you're gonna have guys that's their goal those things right again, both goals is Jordan Morris makes that run in front of the defender.
You know, Georgie doesn't take the extra touch, he plays the.
Ball in first So those little things, you know, can you find a guy and make sure you're you're you know, on the corner kick. Can you make sure your guy can't jump and win the ball cleanly like he did in that sense? So who's gonna be in the second half? Who's going to make sure that those little things are on our side? Now back to Seattle Sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Welcome back to Luminfield, where it is halftime of a one to one game between the Sounders and Charlotte FC. To everybody that this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. I let's talk about some keys to the second half, and we can't do so without telling you about the Sounders bench because there's.
A lot of firepower on it.
Andrew Thomas is the goalkeeper on the bench, also Jonathan Bell, Stuart Hawkins, Danny Lava, ju Al Paulo, and then some attackers here in Paul Ariola, Danny Mazowski, Jesus Ferreira acquired in the offseason from Dallas, and Pedro dal la Vega.
There's some weapons on there, callen.
But in a won one game, you wonder, and probably a lot of fans out there asking themselves, when does Brian Schmitzer decide to make those moves? Say A hey, Suster, A Pedro given this one one game right now, you know, I think they're gonna give him some time. We have another game on Wednesday. It's an important game in the KUNKCAF Champions Cup. I think you're gonna see those newer players in Paul Ariola. You're gonna see Hazus Ferrera. You're
gonna see a Peppo back on the field. Because you want to give those guys that confidence at home.
You know, you don't want to just play them away.
You want to give them that confidence at home and get them used to this crowd, used to this, this fan base. But I see a guy like in this game, a guy like jop Haulo coming in the fray. Because Christian Bolden has now played ninety minutes, Ovid Vargas has
now played ninety minutes. I want to see them kind of get their time off, get them rested again, because you want to see maybe even if there is a change on Wednesday, you want to see them kind of take their rest because it is just two games into season.
Now.
I'll tell you what.
When you listed all the names of all the guys on the bench and we're looking at him right now, warming up, holy cow, you right, firepower. It is early in the season. It would be really nice for Seattle to pull out a two to one win and bring a couple of these guys in right finding a way.
To get a win.
You're not really manufacturing it because you've got a lot of talent to choose from. But if Brian pulls the right strings at the right time, you know, and they can get this win, that's a great way to start the season.
Certainly would be Danny Jackson, Steve Zachlani, Michelle Ludko on the sideline. They have the second half. It's one to one between the Sounders and Charlotte. Hopefully we're rejoining you in forty five minutes talking about the first win of the season, in the first game of the season, but the opener. We'll kick off the second half next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.

Welcome back Sounders fans to EQC pitch at luman Field and Danny Jackson alongside Steve zac Quarney here in the booth of Michelle Ludker down on the sidelines.
Sounders got off to a good start in their first game of the MLS campaign. That first half nineteen minutes gone, Jordan Morris stepped up scored his eighty fifth all comp goal for the Sounders, is first of the season and he's only one goal away now from Rui Diez's eighty six goals that leads to Sounders all time in terms of goals scored. And unfortunately, Charlotte did step back into
the game. In the thirty fifth minute, Milander, the big rangey center back, won the ball inside the six yard box after a good delivery from pet Beale from the corner kick was able to head it past Fry without much of a challenge.
Didn't give Fry any hope from five yards out.
Sounders word sharp in the first twenty minutes, came out of the blocks flying, and as we mentioned towards the end of the first half, well energy came out of the game in the final fifteen minutes or so as Charlotte got more into the game. We'll see what subs the Brian Schmitzer will make in this second half, but as it stands right now, no changes for the Sounders.
We're gonna get that lineup. As the players come out in the field, the referee slowly gets.
The game started as the coaching staff of Charlotte make their way across their friend Frying Gold back four in that first half of rolled down yemar Reagannu.
They line up again in the second.
Half oh Bed alongside Christian Roll, Dan Georgia Manungo on the right, Rouzneck in the ten, Roth Rock on the left, and then Jordan Morris upfront. As Alba Rosna gets the second half going, Sounders in their anniversary kit, the Green Shirts, Blue Shorts, White Sox, the ball goes down the early for Georgia Mononga.
Could he get there? He can keeps the ball in, look like it maybe went over referee this near sight, couldn't keep it in and it's stupstir ball towards the top of the box, picked up by Field, the assist man in that first half, and here comes Charlotte quickly in transition with Burn their right back on that far side, the right.
So let's get you the Charlotte team. No changes for them coming out in this second half. Kalina, the twenty twenty four goalkeeper of the year in MLS as in between the sticks back forth Burn, Milanda privet Ream, Beale Westwood, Williamson.
In the midfield and attacking three of Abada, Vargas and azure Man front.
US men's national team player got his debut for the national team under Pochettino early in the year. It's gonna be a free kick early in the second half of Charlotte on the halfway line and as the two teams get set for that half, Steve, your thoughts of that first half coming to the second half, Maybe what Brian Schmitze might do with that bench.
Yeah, I think Brian Schmenszer knows what he has up his sleeve. He has reinforcements he could call up on. I think it had been very happy. Honestly, that first twenty twenty five was as electric as we've seen a Sounders team offensively at Lumenfield for for quite some time.
So he knows he has that. And I just think, you know, normally we wait.
Sixty fifth minutes, seventifth minute.
They see how this first five to ten go. I don't think you need to wait that long.
Can you give Farrera, Dela Vega Ariola more time?
I think Charlotte will be better.
It won't be as much of an onslought as it was that first twenty minutes. But that next goal is he This game has goals in it. I don't see this game ending one one. If you're the Sounders, you haven't given anything up for the run of play. That set piece goal was poor, but keep feeding Georgie. He maybe has another ten to fifteen minutes to go. You know, rough Frock the same, and I like what I've seen from Jordan Morris. It has been very active trying to
make those runs in behind. Hasn't quite clicked yet. The one player. I think that we have a mission enough of his Albert Rusty, you want to get on to board a bit more. Twenty eight touches in that first half, whereas Christian at over fifty and so you want to see albut pushing towards forty.
Or so where he's dictating a game. We have not seen enough of that yet.
Well, Sounds fifty five percent possession that first half just a number that Brian Schmitz has always talked about. So in the last season of the marker for his team, good ball Bye rolled on from center inside.
His ball whipped in Bira after Rock skipped by goes over the end line goal kick here in the.
First couple of minutes the second half, Sounders want Charlotte one. And with that we're gonna throw it down to Michelle. Who did have a chance to talk to Brian Schmtzon.
I did, and every time I do, I am just reminded of yours and Steve's expertise and knowledge and depth of your knowledge, because so many things that you guys say are so constantly in line with everything I hear from head coach Brian Schmitzer. To Steve's point about the substitutions that he didn't make any of the half Brian Schmitzer telling me that he does anticipate making those fairly quick to Steve's remarks, there, Danie, I'll give back to you before I get married.
Goes in.
Here's Morris. He's got a chance to time where he does, and he does.
He stands in front of the south end, two arms up in the air.
What a career.
He's had a two goal nights to night, eighty six goals on his Sounder's career and he puts the Sounders up two goals to one.
Wow.
When you sees that same old Albert, same old Jordan.
Some things don't change.
I thought that Albert mav missed the pass initially, but he kept going, kept going.
The timing was impeccable. Those toudent that's so fantastic to watch. And one thing about Jordan Morris, he's very good in one b one situation. Sometimes when you have too much time to think, you can overthink it. But no, he gets one on one here and hints it well enough, couldintly gets a hand to it, not enough.
The w bounces into the back of the net and the Saunders free taking their lead and Jordan Morris has these fans off their feet very early here in a second off great goal was.
The fans are on their feet making the noise. The team celebrates that second goal, we're gonna throw it back down to Michelle.
It was an absolutely beautiful play and set up there, and great goal by Jordan Morris, exactly elevating what Brian Schwenzer told me at half of what he told this team at.
Half in the locker room.
He said he wanted them to remember that they have more time than they think with that final pass, that final move right in front of the box and take a second, take a beat, look up, see what your options are. And that's exactly what Jordan Morris did before finding the back of the end.
Well, thanks, Michelle.
Was a perfect pass from you, Michelle to me right before that goal as well, So we had the combination.
Almost as good as Albert's fuss to be honest.
Almost as good as good. But certainly Rosnet with.
His assists on Jordan Morris's goal, that was a one two punch at.
Work so well.
Last year, of course, sixteen assists on Albert Rossen actually here last year tied Nico l'dero for most assists in a single season. He gets the assist for Jordan Morris, who now ties Albert ruy Diaz with eighty six goals and his Sounders' career, and of course he's gonna break.
There in the very near future, if not tonight.
But poll top of the box by about a good block striped by Vargas wide goal kick Sounders to Charlotte one. But again Charlotte showing they've got some pep in their slip in the attacking third this season, and it was Vargas who just shot narrowly wide and it's a good chance.
The first chance that came from Charlotte. Dere's a good block by Jackson Reagan. It falls back to Vargas and he just trans is shot wide. He really should have been on targeting at least asked some question of Stephen Fry. But as the warning sound we spoken the first half when the Sounders are one new up, it's just that one fold difference and two to one instead of very dangerously.
It comes Williamson for Charlotte just top of the Sounders box. Ricochetes a sound As defenderve quite sure why Fry's not picking that one up, but he didn't, and he gave the ball away loose on a couple of those balls.
The second time he's done that. I think Stephan who the experience he has.
Sometimes just pick it up and you give your team a chance to breathe and you let the game slow down.
But right now it's allowing Shor to maintain the pressure.
Sound is a lot sloppy after scoring that goal. They always say the.
First five minutes after your score is when you can be the most vulnerable. There's a head injury this time that the referee is going to stop the play for. So the first half he stopped the play for nothing other than a kick to the shin and again it goes against all rules now that no team has to stop the play.
Referee did that. This time he does stop the play because of a head injury to his tim ream on the deck, the experienced US men's national team player, former Premier League player, of course, came in the summer last year playing on the left back spots.
Just getting up gingerly, but a head injury to Vargas in the first half of Charlotte took some time to get through.
Now it's Reamers getting some attention.
But Sanders FC Socket is presented by prominent Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC and as reams getting some attention, Let's get you some of the results that have gone through the league already.
This today, LAFC.
Get off the board early with I Bobase came in from San Jose, got the winning goal in a one nil win in LA against Minnesota United, Orlando City two, Philadelphia Union four and a new head coach DC United two two draw with Toronto Columbus Crew four Chicago Fire two, so no hangover from Kucho Hernaniz moving to Spain get four goals tonight, Sin's now to get a one nil win against New York Atlanta under new coach Ronnie Deal like as a three to two win against Montreal.
The game gets going again into Miami.
Score in the very last kick of the game to tie two to two in Miami against.
New York City FC.
Absolute thriller across in Saint Louis City nil nil against Colorado Rapids Nashville nil, New England nil, Houston Dynamo one, Dallas two, Ostin one, Sporting k C nil and then down in San Jose, they lead one goal to nil. Big overturn of their roster in the offseason, with of course Bruce Arena coming in as head coach. And then here in Seattle two goals to one to the Sounders and their advantage.
With Jordan Morris going two goals to kick off his campaign.
The ball gets spread again by roll down to Rothrock left hand side, challenged by Burn inside the box.
Comes Rothrock on that left hand side. It's new. He's gonna clip it towards the back. Sit good ball, bounce us through to Georgi ry handside towards you, and I whipped it in. Comes off Rheen. It's gonna be a corner kick for the sound There's another chance to try and get that third goal. Steve zach Guany.
Yeah, think it's important you learned the lesson in the first half. Off we're dominant, we're ahead, but it's only by one. They can get back into our any time.
So when you do have the one goal leader, especially when you have the momentum, if you're attacking your great things looking dynamic, which you can't.
Sustain the whole game, can you get your noise.
In the front by two and set pieces present the opportunity.
Two arms up in the airboy Rosnack on this near side the right whipped in on his right foot, headed.
Clear by as you man. Up in the air by Alex Roldan.
No messing around, headed clear by Tim Reim No after effects from that head injury. It's picked up by the Sounders right from their bench by a rolled down to a russneck.
Can you find another assist?
Goes to Jordan Morris keeping possession well the Sounders. Another fast start can be on the second half. They started well in that first half. Spoored the gold It's a little weak on my rolled arm. We're a covered well by Vargas. Sounders subs down towards own right standing behind the advertising boards. Really got their warm up going quite yet. But see if the brushmas who makes an early changes.
But here come Georgia Minongo against which I'm reing good defending by the experienced defender this time stands up.
Georgia but can do nothing more and knock.
It over the end line for a corner kick with Georgie will leave for Resnick.
He's had a good game, Georgie. And I think you know as a young player, you're gonna have your ups and downs. We're talking about maybe the final product not always been there. He did it today with the assists, and I think he's just such a good outlet for the sound Is to have. And as you built the set pieces, did you have a chance to go two v one here with us?
And I just get quantity into the box.
As Georgie gets the ball from the short corner from Rosnack, goes back to us neck right corner of the box, clips it towards the backstick, fudged up, Well brings it down. There's roth Rock, good strike block well by Milanda Vargas picks up the loose ball down the line to be on one touch over the top.
Tries to find Avida, good playerance by five weeks danger Well comes all the way off his goal line, his lines. Sounders in their green shirts, blue shorts, white sox.
Attacking the sound then the goal to our right, the anniversary kit and then their fortress kit. Charlie United in dark shirts, shorts and socks.
They're attacking the goal to our left.
Sounders lead two goals to one, the back of two Jordan Morris's goals, the second.
Being the tying goal. Eighty sixth goal, and Jordan Morris's stellar career for the Sounders inevitably will break that eighty six mark at some point in the very near future. We all hope it will be tonight. Be a fitting way to get over that eighty six goal mark with the hat trick on the opening day. I forget when Jordan Morris got a couple of goals Kits Colorado just two years ago in the opening game of the season.
There's head.
I believe they're working all off season on his heading.
Jordan Morris looks he's picking up just where he left off last year. He goes over the top, ball by Yamar, floated up headed Club Everlando and picked up by alex Or Dahn.
Found his foot footing well.
There's Rothrock farst side, wide open, can't be found. There's Rosnak scuffs a shot somewhat cleared easily by Milando and then picked up by Burn right back for Charlotte. Can do nothing other than book it down the line collected by Reagan.
Sounders will come again. We'll start a step by game.
Our own possession goes past bel rolls it out to this near side to Georgia right in front of.
The Sounder's bench.
Subs for the Sounders still hanging out down that right hand side.
No real activity yet the sounds. Bur Let's get you the subs for the Sounders. We'll get that in one minutes.
Right Rothrock has it down the left hand side. One be one versus burn Goods defending by Bernie.
He stands up Rothrock.
He tried to shimmy his way past him all down the line to Reagan. Good play by Asia Man and holds the ball up well, brings it down. Switch a play by Westwood from center to right and.
It should challenged by Abiga. That's gonna be a yellow card, the obvious one.
As GMR goes down, it's gonna be a sore one for the big center back for the Sounders.
Headed the ball clear. Aba maybe didn't even look at the ball and just flattered it to him. It stays down on the deck. The Sounders leading two goals soone. As we approached a sixty minute mark, what's a game in midweek against Antigua coming the Sounder's way. If they win that on aggregate, they currently three goals to one. They'll play Chris Azol, who'll be real hope Haitian team seven nil over two legs. Will that'll be another two game series on Wednesday nights.
The ball goes in behind for Georgie to chase down clear by privet off the leg of Georgie. It's gonna be a throwing for tim Riemon show on this near side. Quickly thrown in by Rheim. Williamson gets his pocket picked by well Done.
Here comes new He's gonna shoot again.
Nope, he's gonna play it out to Rothrock, who clips it him with his left foot, headed by Rsnak. Easy for cleaner to collect because he rolls out quickly to Williamson again. That's the second time Williamson almost gave the ball away. This time I rolled on, goes out this near side for throwing.
Yeah, and the Sounders, you know, activity on the bench. We didn't think he'll take too long. Looks like Ariol at some point. My guess is gonna be just a straight start for rough Throat. Obviously he gives you the same, maybe a bit more experience, a bit more quality at this stage of his career. Now just keep going on about it, but just the luxury we haven't had in years past, where you were depending on it, and they did really well. A lot of the younger players who
weren't quite proven that Brashmus had to depend on. Now you're bringing on guys who have real international experience, and I think that's just a side of the strength and death we have this season that we maybe didn't.
Have last season.
Here's Georgia towards the end line. I'll step are a brilliant playing left foot locked out by privat, goes past with ease, and that's maybe the secret weapon that Brian Schmitzer had uper sleeve when.
He went to a four to two three one out of that three at the back system was put Georgie in those one B one slots against the aging ream on that left back.
And here is the changes.
Roth Rock, of course is first start of the campaign, probably on a time timed them out sixty minute mark on the dot income Poor Ariola scored in a third minute in midweek against Antigua. Nice warm reception for Ariola as he mixes MLS debut for the Sounders.
The Sounders do have it on this right hand side with Georgie goes back to Christian Roaldance Morris gonna flick it up led well awkwardly by Williamson, whereasn't that half heartily asked for the back pass.
It was a slice clearance. Charlotte, come down that right hand side. We'll see how this is kind of plays out, and then we'll.
Throw down to Michelle. Yet her thoughts on the substitutions.
The ball get shifted from far right to this near side the left miscontrolled initially by abbit Abba, brought down well, collected now by Westwood.
Charlotte looking to get himself back into the game. The is a building the back. We're going to throw it down to Michelle.
Thank you the substitution there, Paul.
For Paul, I wanted to just point out how Brian Schwitzer told us during our production meeting that it was important for him for Paul Rothrock to get the start at that position after earning the right to start at the end of last season before sustaining that quad injury early on in the playoffs run. He also told me at halftime that he one point of emphasis with the team was figuring out ways to get the ball over to that left hand side because he felt like Paul
didn't get enough opportunities in that first half. So Hopefully we'll be able to see those changes now with Paul Ariola in the US list.
Thanks Michelle.
Yeah, we'll see if Arla can pick up where he left off on Wednesday.
As you mentioned, it was a Ferrara Ariola Dallas former Dallas FC combination.
They've got the Sounders on the board their first goal of the twenty twenty five season, that one being in CONKFT Champions Cup. It's gonna be a likeful like switch. Sound is not gonna shift out of that four back system. It's gonna be areole. You're gonna play on that left hand side for roth Rock. Reagan knocks it all the way back to Stephen Fryer.
Who's a little awkward with the clearance with his left foot the side, but finds the food of Morrison. Here is Ariol and the experienced player of course, DC ninety Dallas, so his career professional breed down Tijuana, the US men's national team player, so it seems like one not a bad player to bring into your squad.
No, We've talked to him on the Sounders FC podcast and it was a great interview, just into his mindset and he spoke about, look, I know this league I've been around. I'm not gonna be afraid to come in and sort of be a lead up from day one. That's what the signing a lot. Sometimes are you bringing really good players from maybe a different country outside the league. There's that off the field adjustment. Yes, he's moving city, but he knows the city. He's begging the stadium before.
He knows Jordan, he knows Christian. He's been speaking to them before coming here by what he'd be like here, And you saw in midweek what he can do already.
And he's gonna be pushing for a lot of minutes. With so many.
Competitions this year, I think the signing of him and Ferrera two known commodities in MNS in Major League socup, he's taking a sounded stepth to fourteen fifteen guys fighting for eleven sparks, and that's exactly what you want if you want to be a top team.
We'll just no drop off now.
If nothing else, it's the same quality, there's a different style of play.
Maybe that can change things up.
And again I think ariol is a perfect Brunchvezza player, works hard off the ball, on the ball, has good delivery here he.
Is now the left foot Whips today great ball punch clear byke Kallina. Just so we were talking about Ariola Whips's left foot around the ball. Eight ball across the six picked up by the Sounds now right hand side, cut back towards Roznak isn't able to collect it.
Charlotte pick it up on this near side. Captain Westwood goes from center to far side the right to Vargas, got some time and space, but there's Ariola working back.
I think it's defensive duties.
Overlapping run by Burn, closed down by Knew, who eighteen yards from the end line, goes back to Vargas into the foot of Beal, pulls it out to the right hand side to Burn, who comes off the back of New who has been defensively sharp since that early yellow card. Skirts with a bit of danger with a quick second fould. But he didn't get a yellow card. And now Dean Smith's gonna make a triple change to try and see
if they can change this game. Up here in the sixty fifth minutes, the sound As lead two goals to one.
See the changes that will come. It's like Beale is gonna be off the field.
What's gonna take the corner kick. Now he's just stepped off and he's gonna walk behind the goal. It's gonna be Tiger Small's who's gonna come on.
It's gonna be Bianni played twenty eight games last year. That's gonna be a hometown hero. Brant Bronico is gonna come on the field as well. So we'll see how they play out and who will go where.
Get you back to that formation in the lineup for Charlotte.
They taking corner kick. Another chance for Charlotte offer set piece. Sounders need to defend eleven men behind the ball.
We should take inside the box ball whipped in top of the sixth drake where it was before slice shot by Vargas goes wind are the post gonna be a goal kick?
Sounders leave here at EQC Pitch, lumin Field ninety three point three KGr FM, wherever you're listening to us. Thanks for joining.
Good start to the twenty twenty five campaign so far for the Sounders and for Jordan Morris.
Sounders. The two goals so one a back of two Jordan.
Morris's goals, the second being the tying goal with Ruy Diez for the most goals in a Sounder shirt and all competitions at.
Eighty six siticide. Jordan Morris can.
Find that eighty seventh tonight and get that Patrick. What a way that would be to start in his campaign. It's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders.
A little jersey tug on Alex rolled on as he made his way across the field. Sounders get things going quickly, subs down to our right hand side behind the south goal and just slowly making their warm up. Of course we've got Della Vega. It's a completely different player to last year.
Fantastic preseason with four goals in preseason.
He is ready to come on at some point.
But here comes the Sounders with Rosnak inside the eh and yard box back to his preferred right foot, strikes it comfortable save by Kleena in the end as Mariola just flash in front of the goalkeeper.
Kleaner was able to collect.
It's good football game by the sound is great suitboard by Yama Arion, a great touch inside he finds Jordan Morris is a fantastic little.
One touch board over the top of Albert russ Knight.
I'd have loved Albert to just play that sort of a blind ball across the six yard box because maybe if you get that right, Jordan's running really hard. It's a simple tap in, but hey, he's on the right after posting double digit goals in assist last season to kind of cut back and take it itself. Didn't quite catch it well enough, but I'll repeat.
What I said.
In the first half, Sound is dominant on top, but only up by one.
And when you're in.
That position, it takes one set piece, one mistake, one giveaway, and the opponents back into it. So in this next you know we've got about twenty plus minutes the goal plus stoppage time.
This next five ten minutes is very important.
Can you push your way ahead, get that second goal gap, get the cushion, and then put this game to bed.
Sounders try to win the ball top of that box.
Bit finds Charlotte FC again down the line, it goes to small so he just stumbles.
And slips just and Michelle mentioned earlier the conditions are wet, slick, and this February ninth in Seattle, it's gonna be a goalkick for the Sound as they lead two goals. So won here in the sixty ninth minute there was Abada who was the player that came off the field alongside Beal and Williamson.
I mentioned Tiger Small's Dianni Brent Bronico who are on the field, Tianny big player number twenty eight in the middle of the field six foot five, very rangy player that can and Zurich before coming into MLS February of twenty four mentioned made twenty eight appearances last year for Dean Smith and his side. Good solid physical presence in the midfield is what Charlotte will need as the Sounders are always known to finish off games strong, especially attacking the south end as.
They look for their third goal.
In his Yama rolled on right in front of the Sounders bench to rain now starts banging down on.
The field and the players and the crowd as they continue to stand in the lower ball.
Just some normal ish for Everrary night in Seattle. As Michelle mentioned, that was a very pressure coming through it making things a little warmer, a little wetter. It sounds will be fully at home in this of course, Charlotte not so much.
And the Sounders now put in a professional performance to see this game out. Twenty minutes to go of the ninety.
Brosch Betzer said he was they'll be firing at all cylinders. Can they get off to a really good start. It looks like Steven whether it's building out with the three at the back and maybe they'll shift to a three at some point by Alex rod Don certainly a bit more forward than he has been tucked Royt into the center of the part now from that right back spot.
Yeah, I think he has those options and enough option. He has it well.
I think I've got poored ou of your rough Georgie Petro as well. They all complained multiple positions across that front line. Ferrara too, because he's a number nine. He compares to ten inside as we saw him midweek. So yeah, so many options. Formation of personalities.
Jordan Marisht flickering around the corner again, Jordan Morrice Tis riggled clear comes off.
Jordan's shin is gonna be a throw in?
Just on this near side, the right, towards the south west corner, right from thesistern referee a couple of yards from the corner flags.
Tim Ring walks over sodden tim Ree with his hair pullback.
In that.
Ponytail he's had for so many years in a fantastic servant for the US men's national team, fantastic serving for US soccer over in England after playing many years at Fulham.
As Reagan steps in, gets clapped into felt.
Given by the referee, who's been a little less involved in this second half than he was in the first half. Reagan gingerly gets to his feet as he gets pulled up by the Charlotte planned though, and he gets up on his own accord. It's gonna be free kick for the Sounds, just inside the Charlotte half of the fields. We take past the seventy minute mark, Sounders leading two goals to one, ninety three point three kjr FM. The thist game of the season for the Sounders, I think it.
After a winning start, Ball goes down line to Georgie, Ball inside loose on the pass again by Georgie.
You will see if he gets the change. At some point, Ball top of the box of the Sounder one two with bar Gas strike bubbles away from Kleina.
It was a great combination that found the further far Gas with his left foot trying to drill it in the corner a little too close to the goalkeeper, made a bit of a hash of it, actually fumbled it over the end line for a wann to kick for the Sounders.
It deserved a better finish. But there's such a.
Good move, maybe move of the game, the little one touch pass into Albert Albert lazy back off to Vargas under one two, great weight of pass and he just maybe hits it two hours and two central it's turned around for a corner that deserves the gold.
Fantastic from Vargas on Russnick.
Phinch wide of the post, ball driven in this time headed down, good save.
It was a good headed by its Christian rolled On who just shrug up some pressure. Drilled in ball by Rosnak this time, who usually kills that ball in with his right for this time it was a straight line drive right off the practice field. Had to say Steve zac Quanny, but yeah, save it by Kleena.
Yeah, it was a good delivery there.
So I saw him driving and then you saw Christian making that dashing in their port and he gets really good contacts on it. In the end, they're just maybe not enough to push it into the corner, but the sound as a pushing they smell blood. You know the strike wild the irons hot here because maybe Seannotte will have one or two more attacks again at two to one, dangerous core line, get that third gold and put his came.
To bed and a focus ahead of the midweek game.
All the left unside to ariol five yards from the end.
The clips it in good cross again by Ariel on his left foot. Great, some good attacking move so far on that left hand sides is coming on for roth Rock. GiMA has it on this near side the right, so Alex rolled on, just takes a couple of short touches back to Yamar.
Combination between the rows and all goes inside. Little loose by.
Alex AND's Privot's able to pick it up, but good chasing bat by Morris picks the pocket at Westwood, top of the boxes.
Morris outside of the foot towards ariol A strikes with his left foot. Comes off Berne, who challenged the ball well looped over the crossbar cornickick sounders remains two to one.
Loved that from Jordan. He's got the two gold.
He's on a castle of the all time record, but still working hard defensively, tracking back, making things happen with He's just his effort and that's the identity that this sounder seems seems to have early on, where maybe in the past up years branch Metzer was trying to maybe be more in a brock and didn't have the personnel the legs with an aging Rudias, an agent Ladero where
they could press as much as they're doing now. They've been fantastic defensively, defending from the front we call it, and it's been really really good.
Led by Jordan Morris, the two goal hero.
Short again to Georgia.
It will step over, clips to him his left foot, good delivery towards Jackson Reagan. Ball bounces outside the box, then clipped back to Alex trolda And who rolls it all the way back to Stefan Fry outside his eighteen yard box.
As the back line of Charlotte push all the way up.
Fry is going to launch it long, not too central, easily cleared and managed by Miland, who has the ball to his feet. Now play's board to Bronico of his chest turns no pressure on the ball, sound as low block of pressure just inside their half of the field.
As Charlotte come in possession with Vargas, who's been lively in this game, knocked around.
Somewhat, there's a been a bit of a threat for the Sounder, says Westward, clips the ball towards as your man and pushes over Yamar inside the eighteen yard box. Referee calls it free kick for the Sounders, and they don't take that all day long.
As we get to the last fifteen minutes of the ninety Lorraine continues to lash down here at lumin Field, but don't leave us.
After the game, Jackson felt, Kellen Row and Pete Few will break it all down. I certainly hope the sound is able to see this one out get an early win in their campaign. We know with so many different tournaments there's gonna be some rotation of the squad and getting points on the board early it's to be very
beneficial for the Sounders. Thus, bransh Bets are thinking so far of itsized performance, were you combine it with what he saw in midweek as well, because the preseason has gone well as set a team up well for success.
Yeah, there's a quiet buzz and optimism here and not as even people at a then MLS level. You know who cover this league who are ranking his team very, very high, and you can see why to be excited about two really really good signings. I would say three if included then a Vega or fully fit that a Vegas different to what he.
Was last year.
And I think the first two games you've seen different personnel, different ways to attack, variation.
It's all points it to very good things for the Sounders.
All top of the box.
In Sounder's possession as they attack the goal to our right with Christian Roldan thirty five forty yards from the end line, center of the field, challenged now by Bronico.
But the Sounders keep good possessions.
They tick towards sixty percent possession of the Sounders, and of course commentators curse as soon as they say that they give the ball the way cheaply.
Then comes Reagan clatters into as your man.
As Dean Smith puts his head on his hands, referee doesn't call the free kick, and I think based on consistency, he expects the free kick to happen.
His hands is still on his head. As your man off the field, the game doesn't have to be stopped because as your man is.
Actually sitting inside the technical area. Actually just outside the technical area, we've seen players kind of roll back on the field to kind of kill things off. But for the sounders and for Charlotte, there's absolutely no reason to stop the game players off the field. He can get some medical attention. Sounders will come again in the foot of Vargas Center.
The park to.
Riola has been active and here's minutes on the field so far. Not too much activity down to our right hand side as sounders subs continue to warm up.
But yeah, I think we will see Ferrera. I'll surprised. Maybe we seem a little bit earlier, you know, played big minutes of midweek when you'd expect him to be involved again in the second leg there, But he'll be coming on. For Georgie, I'll be a straight swap, plays the position very differently.
Pharaoh will drift aside. We'll try and get on the board.
Why times pop up centrally next to Jordan Morris, So again it's the variations branch meta has. Yes, the personnel has been upgraded, but you're getting multiple positions of multiple ways you can play, maybe work on any training. So Farrera getting his first minute here as a sounder in MLS any moment now, and again we did not have the leuctual bringing on a guy who's got that many goals. He's second for age twenty five Afterlandon of an inn MLS history.
I mean, think of some of the great players you've had in this league. That's no small accomplishment.
He as he mentioned fifty four goals thirty six assists in MLS, played for both Dariola and for Ara.
But here's Geordie Murris sowards his left foot. Can he score his eighty seventh goals blocked well by Milanda, goes out for a throwing on the far side. Gonna be a throwing for the Sounders. And as it.
Seems like Corney mentioned lost to me and I was calling the game down on the field for Ara and made his way to the bench. And now he's making his way onto the field, there's gonna be Georgie Menungo who gets his.
First start for the season. Round of applause for Georgie as he puts his hands up in the air, and there's Haesus Ferreira. The home crowd get a chance to give him the evasion he deserves.
Got a great pick up by Craig Wive or Sean Henderson and the crew to bring Ferrera.
A man of that quality.
I'm sure it's been knocking on the door for the US men's national team for the World Cup, and he'll be fully motivated over the next eighteen months to prove to Pochettino and the US men's national team stuff that he's deserving of US name in the squad for the twenty twenty six feet for World Cup, of course, Seattle hosting six games, and that World Cup, i'll see Mention just gonna slot on the right inside but pitched in.
Yeah, much more, you're you know, earlier we saw Alex row Dunn pitching in and Georgie holding good with if you need one of them to be wide the players on his right hand side. With Ferrera, we'll see a bit of a mint, but he'll definitely go a lot more inside. And I love the signing too because it puts pressure on Jordan Morris. Forerr I can play another night, I can find him back at the next So healthy competition amongst your players, it elevates the whole group.
So I love seeing that. But Forrera, right, you know, we saw in.
The midweek some of the things he can do already, there's no surprise to this league. So it's a really good signing on paper, and I think we'll see a play out very very quickly here from theselfs.
Jordan Morris's possession outside the box looking extremely confident and as Brian Schwetz will be extremely pleased about the pressure. Ferrara has now inspired Jordan Morris and he's got two goals on the night sound as lead to one. So we get the final ten minutes of ninety sounds looking comfortable so far.
Fifty eight percent possession so far in this game. As Charlotte hooked the ball clear.
All into as your Man that gets his anchors clipped. It was Christian roll Don coming back to help gamer.
There's gonna be another change for Dean Smith and his Charlotte team can see what that change is gonna be. It's gonna be as your Man, It's gonna come off, it's gonna be Tokla Marty Israeli player signed in August of twenty twenty four. It's a professional debut at seventeen, so experienced player even at a young age. He's gonna slide light for like just up top it's like Tiger
smaller is playing more central position. They're gonna play more traditional four to four to two potentially in these final minutes of the game, trying to slop to the forward up front, try and find that equalizing goal or gets cleared by roll down down the left hand side, picked up by Milander, and then.
Privet Sound has dropped their line of confrontation. All goes to Tim Reeve rolls it out.
With this near side to Vargas coming off the left hand side, starts to move across the middle of the field.
Finds Westwood, who's been effective at times in the middle of the park, just keeping things ticking along, and there it comes from.
Picks up a loose ball.
There's a little loose touch by Ferrera as Privot took the chance, stepped across, won the ball clearance by Yema, good challenge by Vargas, slides down, wins the ball off Bronico and then a nice little simple pass to finish off the play. Crowd like that, and then giving away middle part.
By rolled On and here come Charlotte as they seek out their equalizing goal. And there, of course is that man rolled On makes the mistake, comes back thirty yards, shrugs off Burn wins the ball. As much as Brian sch Metzer loves the goals, he likes that even more.
Listen, Jordan will probably get Man of the match. Christian's been right there man and your amount of brown. He covers the boards, he recovers, he gives you things offensively and defensively. He's the ultimate, ultimate Swiss army knife in that midfield. And the due of him and Fargas, I mean, they've got a potential to be among the very best in MLS. They've dominated this Charlotte midfield today, that engine
room where so many games are won and lost. It's been all one way and it's been fantastic to watch.
Honestly, crowd don't like that foul.
Was Smalls who went down to the deck nudging the back by knew who made the most of it, did small so when that free kick, But Charlotte will have a chance.
To lock the ball in.
Actually Man is a tall, tall player. They go short this time, decide not to knock it in. That's going to frustrate the back line of Charlotte as they work their way up the park.
To the sounders. In the foot of Rosnak rolls it out to roll down to Christian as it comes across the field. Sounders have six minutes or so.
Of the ninety to see how they lead two goals to one. And this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or broadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer.
It's a Christian, sorry. Stephen Fry knocks the ball down the line to Alex roll Dan. Nudge in the battress to feel the Creshu from Bronica goes down. Nothing given by the referee.
You want to go, throws it in quickly and that's not gonna make these were too happy. As he throws the ball away and a late challenge by the newcomer the news sort it just came on the field in tackler Marty classes into.
Alex Roldan, so he goes down.
Of course, it was last year when within second of the start of the game all got launched long and Alex Rolldan got concussion, putting him out for a good number of weeks.
This time looks like he is gonna be okay. It gets to his feet.
And I think we're definitely moving into the game management territory. His activity on a bench again de la Vega Jonnithan bo I think would be on for new which makes sense. You expect Charlotte to maybe give one more pushing ball for it. Now who's on that yellow card. He's honestly managed it very very well. I've been impressed by that from new Who. But the more Charlotte comes, you just want to don't.
Take that risk.
Let's get him out and the le Vegas brings you quality on the board. He can possess the board freshenegs in the attack. So when the sound is yes, if you can get a third bowl, you go for it. But at this point it's definitely about not conceding, and this expects Charlotte. The've gone offing to lose more long balls, more direct trying to ask questions.
But so far I've got to say the Sounders is going ahead. I've managed us very very well.
All from Rosneck to Alex Roldan on this near side rips the board to the back post as are always left foot. Good strike with his left foot, ricochets off burn picked up by New far side, the left challenged by Small's just strugs it off comes back to Vargas. Sound is looking comfortable, but we know the first off they look comfortable and it gets away with one.
This Christian rolled earns the fell off Westwood.
And he's not I'm not happy at all with that decision from the referee.
If some strange ones will take that one, it benefits the sound is on the occasion because Charlotte off to the races. But it does give branch Mess a chance to make the changes Knew Who off album Russ Knight off.
I don't think it changes much personnel wise.
Jonathan Bell would definitely definitely stay home more than you Who, and you try to lock things up and then Dela Vega comes on, probably will see Farrera mov inside as we saw a midweek and then Dela Vega take up the spot on the s right hand side, fresh legs.
But again for the uptief time to night a repeat.
It's just so nice to be able to bring on that kind of quantity off the bench the free subs today, most MLS teams will take that kind of level of player to bring on, especially in a winning situation and the start you made to the season already.
Yeah, I think you said it right, Stee, But Vega feels like a new signing this year.
Yeah.
Struggled with injuries last year, of course, so difficult for a young player coming into a new country, new environment. I think emless. There is such a higher qulty now than some of the players expect.
The speed, the strength of physicality. He had a good offseason, worked hard, him in fit, healthy and he's producing pre season. He produced on Wednesday against Antigua with that second goal.
I think gets just a handful of minutes to try and make his mark.
We expect him therefore, probably to start on Wednesday with the rotation as this will Farrara and most likely but Jordan Morris.
Nice to see Jordan Morris thing on.
The field as well, getting a chance to maybe break that Rudy As record get.
That hat trick, Bryce Metzer giving.
Him that opportunity to see how the final minutes of this game ball into a slidely tackle by Roldan Charlotte who quickly moved from center to right into the box. Who was Dianni who going to wriggle free of Roldan?
But he did his job.
But it's going to be a corner kick for Charlotte, and we saw in that first half they have good delivery.
The time it's gonna be Westwood who's gonna come on across.
To that far side the Charlotte Wright's gonna be an outswinger with his right foot. First half he was in swingers from Beal and Westwood from the opposite flanks at their foot.
So it's had a little bit of a different look, but delivery of quality all the less.
So it sounds need to stand up strong now, need to make sure that they defend their goal. Ball comes in top of the six headed clear where free gift of the foul.
It was Alex rolled On who flicked the ball away, got pushed into by it was Privet.
It's gonna be a free kick for the sound As we get here in the final couple of minutes, Sounders League two goals to one.
Not a bad night so far, Steve for brin Schwetz and.
His men, No, just thinking.
I don't remember Stephan Fry having to really make a safe maybe one, but nothing dramatic has been Listen, that set piece got is gonna bother them.
Don't watch the film. That can't happen again. It's been a very.
Dominant performance and maybe just two one seems a bit tig and a bit generous to Shary because there's been one way traffic balls of the game.
It's Ferrera right hand side.
He's going to clip it towards his former teammate and current teammate Ariola.
Both came across from FC Charlotte, so FC Dallas, I.
Should say in the off season not only quality players but quality individuals as well.
Both really want to be.
Here and some type of environment in branis devenser of course, nurtures here at the Sounders been that way for many years.
Locker rooms is as together as it has ever has been.
But you'll see how Sounders are once again in the pursuit of Conker CAF Champions Cup Glory.
Round one.
Leg two will be on Wednesday, February twenty sixth at seven thirty pm Pacific at lumen Field.
Watched the match y F S two. We'll just turn up. If we haven't got a ticket, buy one. It's gonna be a good night.
Sounders got three goals against an two good down in a very difficult environment. As Vargas plays the ball down to Bronico goes in towards small and tries to wringle free towards the airdline does clips towards the back stick five minutes about it time, let's burn on the farst side of the.
Right clips it in challenged by Jack's Reagan and miss That header eventually gets cleared by the sound as fine as the foot of Tim reeves. So all still to play for here for.
Charlotte there is And that's the thing with that one gold gap.
And you understand the change the branch Spenser made is teams have believe they're hanging on this meet will be egging on his players. One set piece, one mistake, one scream from twenty five yards and they'll pick up a valuable point.
If the Sounders, you've worked so hard at this point, you.
Weren't able to really build that gap in terms of your lead.
But don't make.
All the work you've done in the ninety minutes ninety one minutes go to waste him. Can you see it out? And game management is a part of it. Go to the corners, maybe walk to every set piece, walk to every throw and things like that. Let that clock play down so you could really get this season.
After the three points you wanted to get off to free kick for.
The Sounders and a little soft free kick it felt like again by the referee Dean Smith heading his hands again.
I can't believe somebody's caused in the second half against his team won by as your man right in front of him caused him some confusion that one also. Now the referee gives a free kick, sorry, throw it to Charlotte and Joe Morris looks a bit for muse as well.
For that decision. Cleaner has it in the Charlotte goal launches it long. Two goals have worn the Sounders lead here at Lumen Field.
Need to be sharp to try and see out that that's not what Jackson Reagan has done.
Very loose on the back pass picked up by Vargas and his snow goal disaster for the Sounders. Charlotte celebrate.
It was a loose ball by Jackson Reagan with no pressure on him and.
Then it was ball whipped in. It was a good delivery, but it was Jamo slid in. Yeah, put the ball in the back of his neck too.
And you know broke the guys on the pitch, the coaching staff too. They're competing from that cord because this came from that questionable throw and I think it was over there, but that's no excuse.
You got to stay locked in.
Jackson Reagan, who hasn't put a foot run all evening long, makes that mistake and the yeah, but listen, the cross was so good. It's one of those ones as a defender you have to try and make a play on the board, but it's between you and the goalkeeper. Stephen Fry can't really come for it. You can't really stretch enough to get enough contact on it, only enough to turn.
I mean, Christiana all done? Is it sensed?
They're not happy with that cord? Ref made it. Goal's gonna stand And I've been saying all leaving along. You're playing well, but two to one that one god gap is not enough. And Charlotte again for the second time, have closed their way back and.
The Sounds find a bit of magic to finish up this game. They have about two minutes to go.
We'll see if the referee adds on a little bit more time to that goal, but painful finish this game for the Sound.
As the ball gets whipped in towards the back stick.
Headed down by roll down as he stays off the field. Good hard challenge by Riem rolled down, still down on the deck, but off the field behind Kaleena's goal. Here comes Vargas running from the Saunders bench. Brian Schweitzer on his feet, just urging his team back.
Jordan Morris comes back to the fen could play by Jordan Morris.
Here comes ariol Or inside the attacking half of the field for erratory's right, makes a little runningside.
Was he offside? Know what wasn't? My sister referees. Flag stays down for right now it's Vargas. Good block, ball bounced up in the air inside the eighteen. La Vega can't get it. Sounds to look a little dead on their feet. I'm able to get the ball and it comes ariol and that's gonna be a foul for Charlotte. As we tick into the final.
Sixty seconds of the five minutes of adding time, Charlotte will certainly take up as much time as they can. It's bar Gas, It's pulled up to his feet. Charlotte have come all the way across the East East coast.
And without maybe their who's gonna be their best player? So in real friends, if it stays this way, it will be a massive point. De Smith, this will feel like a victories. It's always it's one of those draws where it's gonna feel like a defeat. Just then the two goals, the simple set piece also an old goal. You've not done yourself any favors, and then you think of how good you were at times offensively. On another night you scored three or four. But this is this
is why we love this beautiful game. It's never done until it's done.
Saunders certainly were pained by their starts of the season last year. We want to be focused on getting a really good start this season. But can they in these final seconds. We'll see what the referee does here. We're at the five minute mark, times up of the added time. It's a referee gonna give any time extra for that goal. You expect a minute at least.
I would say.
He's had one look at his watch. Sounders working the ball from left to right. Now back into the center to Reagan. There's Jonathan Bell had found in his left.
Back spot, both de la Vega finds. Eventually Bell goes into della Vega strides forward down the left hand side, finds Bell five yards from the end, I whipped him well, headed clear by Milander, back in.
By Bell, headed clear by Westwood. All bounces to Jackson Reagan and there's the referees whistle. Who's ring down? I think the boos are somewhere in response to the referees' decision not to give a throwing to the Sounders, and eventually ensued into that equalizing goal. But for the sound as a disappointing finish to the night, and for the Sounders it was a goal in the first half by Jordan Morris, tied up by Charlotte.
In the thirty fifth minute by Milander.
It was Jordan Morris's second goal of the night early in that second half that got the Sounders the lead they deserved. And then it was a cruel blow at the very end of the game, poor passed by Jackson Reagan, a desperate lunge by Yamar put the ball the back of his own there tied the game up to too Steve your final.
Thoughts, it's not gonna feel like it, but listen, the Sounders played really, really well today for the first time in a very long time. Offensively, look to be in sync on the same page, flying, defended, really well, the whole game, but two moments, and this game is played in moments. The set piece that was given to Charlotte for that first goal of free header and then that last play day. Yes, was a question of what that left to it, but that happened eighty yards away from
the Gold. You've got to knock in a little mistake by Jackson Reagan Yama of the Old Gold.
It's a tough to it's two point stopped.
Can you take a lot of half of the performance, yes, but you have to be able to close games out and the sound is unfortunately we're not able to quite do that today.
Well, thanks for everyone involved in today's broad cast.
Terry Ryan here in the booth, Chris cadder Cross at the studio, Kathy Dunning and Kevin kay Is always for their great help and information. To Michelle Ludker on the sidelines, and of course the Sounders legend Steve zach Wanni twenty twenty five seasons up and running.
But it's off to a disappointing start.
There's a quick turnaround for the Sounders as they will be back here at Luminfield to take on Antigua in the second game of a two game CONKERCAF Champions Cup Series to see if they can.
Advance to the next round.
But for now we'll take a short break, checks and Pheltzpete Viewing and Kellen Rowe. We'll be back to break everything down. Meek youc pitch here at Lumen Field. It finishes Sounders two Charlotte.

Ninety second minute equalizer for Charlotte FC and this match from Living Field ends Seattle to Charlotte to a heartbreaking two points lost for the Sounders we had down on the field.
Michelle Lutka is with Georgie Manoungo.
Thank you Jackson, Georgie.
Obviously a disappointing finish to this one that you guys couldn't close out the win, but still plenty of positives in this match.
What did you like about your team's performance tonight?
The team pretty well.
You know, we establish control the first album, was possessing the boat very great. You know, we understand what the coach wants us to do, you know, and we was doing pretty well. You scored the first goal after they came back. But after the second half, we play pretty good. We scored two goal, you know, and unfortunating at the last minute, you know, the score. But like the team looks strong, you know, since precision. You know, we went
to Guatemala, we played good. You know, obviously we wanted to win today, but you know it wasn't the case.
But yeah, we're still strong.
You know, lest game we're gonna win, and then we keep working to get better every day.
You were instrumental on Jordan Morris's first goal tonight of his two that made him become the tide for the all time goals across all competitions. Tonight you had the assist on that first goal. What has it been like playing along someone like Jordan and being able to play off of each other and your strengths.
Jonah Moyes get a lot of experience, you know, for someone who play with the national team, you know, and like I'm a young player, you know, like I'm always close to him, you know, learning him from him him.
You know, he's a great guy.
You know.
I always want to to help me score morgo, you know. And even before the game at Jordan, if you want to write sport, I'm gonna just try to pass with the ball for you to score because I know it's quality. You know, it's an incredible finisher. And you know, I'm always happy to be close to him, you know, learn from him and you know, try to try to help him to score like as much goal as as he can.
You know.
And he's a very great player and I love him.
Is my guy?
Up next, you guys head back to concor Calf play on Wednesday, hosting Antigua. Here, what does this team need to do after tonight to rebound and get ready for that that matchup.
To be able to move forward in conquer Calf.
We need to keep working, you know, as I say, yeah for this this result is not what we expect today because we know we we we was the better tip on the game, you know, but.
We need to to to work.
On deferend our definite shape, you know, and to be to be better and obviously scored more gold because if you scored more goal, we're gonna win every game.
So yeah, that's who gotta do.
I love that. Georgie, thank you so much for the time. I really appreciate it.
Okay, thank you, Jackson, Thanks Michelle.
It's Georgie Manongu Sounders winger and attacker. There was a nice guy that you can never talk to fair night just listening to him. Well, he got the assist on Jordan's first goal. Albert Rusnak got the assist on Jordan's second goal. Jordan scores twice. He now has eighty six goals all time across all competitions in Sounders history.
That ties we're all Rudy.
Has for number one all time at eighty six goals.
We hoped Jordan was.
Gonna be able to get that third and get number eighty seven and get a hat trick for a winner here tonight, but it never came.
And yeah, a late late.
Own goal, a giveaway, a poor touch by Jackson Reagan leads to an old goal from Ya Margomez Andrade in the ninety second minute, and Charlotte has this match at two to two really quickly, I mentioned Jordan there. Tonight's man of the match obviously is Jordan Morris. Your local toylet dealers are product is and Tonight's man of the matchup.
But we welcome you to the postgame show, Jackson Feltz calen Roe beat viewing here for the next half hour or so to talk through this, and I think we do just start with the instant reaction and the you know, I was just saying, I let off the broadcast by saying, gosh, you know, October twenty eighth was the last time we were in this booth, and it does feel like fifty two degrees rain coming to I mean, this is this is late October weather right now. It feels like just
we were last year. And boy, just like last year, it's another game where it is callen two points lost in the very last seconds. It's heartbreaking, I know, and we talk about the rust of this first game this season, but you know, I think that we got a little bit ahead of ourselves a little bit.
Coach and I were talking off airs as we walked to the booth.
It's after seeing that game, it's you know, it almost felt as if you were playing as if you were a three or.
Four one up.
Then we had a bit of a lead going into this, and that we talked about it. When about the eighty minute, I think we all said we were watching, Hey, there's a lot of there's a lot of time left here. We have a close this out yet, And I think the guys in the field just got a little bit complaint.
You get dis pointed that you don't go away with the three points, Jordan Morris getting two really good goals. I'll tell you, I felt like, you know, Fry had little to do in that game, hardly anything to do, and Seattle put Charlotte's keeper under a ton of pressure. Charlotte had a couple of chances getting forward and they and they put them away.
So you got to get Charlotte's locker room very very happy. Right now.
There's a lot of high five and a lot of you know, guys being really excited about that because they had Seattle had him for quite some time.
So and then the Seattle locker room, they're gonna be down.
One thing.
I'm looking at two things. I want to say.
Interview with Michelle was fantastic. If if you're not a Georgie fan after that. That is the nicest kid. And yes, yeah, when he comes off the field, he wasised everybody two hands like, hey, thanks, lover comes you guys. You guys are great, You're all my best friends, you know. And he works his tail off. I mean it was adorable, really, you know. Uh, and then and then yeah, and he did the job. I mean, that was a great assist on the first goal for Jordan Morris. But uh, and
then the second thing. After this game, they've got the conditioning group out there, and the guys get into running and you see Pedro running very hard, JP running to the spot, start running right, and then you see Hayes Seuss getting in his extra running.
And even right now we're still watching them.
Those guys, those.
Guys are putting it down and those are going to be key players for us.
That is a little different than what we saw last season.
We talked about the ego, and we talked about this off there. We we don't have these Yeah, we have big name players, don't get me wrong. You know Pepo and Hazus Ferrera and these DP players, paul Aarriola obviously.
Jordan Morris, these these are well known names.
In this league.
But aren't these but aren't these big time players. They're not coming in this locker room saying I'm the guy. You know it is it is if we are successful, I am successful.
And I think you see that.
Look, Pedro is the last guy running right now, and that's what you want to see out of your million dollar man, right That's the guy who's willing to put in the work.
And I think you see that with this group.
This is going to be a group that I think six months down the road, we're saying, Wow, they jail together as off on and off the field.
You see it.
And I think that's what you find because everyone here seems to be wanting, willing to work. Pedro's hard on himself and you can see that, you see, you know, you read it just in his body language right now running down the field that after this game is long over, Yeah, he's mad that they he couldn't help this team score
what what? What would have been the third goal? And that's probably just gonna drive him to Wednesday and hopefully what is a chance for the Sounders to move on to the next round of kunkaf We got to take a break, Peet, we do have a lot still to talk about with this two two draw tonight against Charlotte before we look ahead to the second leg on Wednesday.

Now to Seattle Sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM, Welcome back.
To the postgame show here from Luminfield, where I don't think it has stopped raining in the last two hours and it may not stop raining for the next two days.
Very very rainy night.
But Michelle Ludka in out of the Rain from her interview with Georgie Mungo.
Check out the podcast.
You can find these postgame shows on the iHeartRadio app and wherever you get your podcasts, just search Sounders Weekly. We post all of the full games, postgame shows and weekly shows on that heading. Michelle had a great conversation with Georgia Mnuingo at the start of tonight's postgame show. But before we for him, by the way, it was a two to two final Sounders and Charlotte tonight here from Lumen ninety second minute, one goal to equalize for Charlotte's.
Before going any further, Pete, I cut you off there, but before that break, what you what did you want to get out?
Because I'm sorry that I got in the way.
Yeah, no problem, no problem.
At all, you know, we had twelve crosses in the first half at least, and I think we're all going to say, we've got to make sure. I think they're going to say in the locker room, we've got to make sure that we put at least two goals away. Right, You just can't if you if you're we're playing here at Lumen. This is a tough place for teams to come in and play, but it's also a place where
everybody wants to come play. The Seattle Sounders, they know the history, they know what this this stadium is like, right, and.
So it's a big deal for them to come and play here. Right.
I'm sure oriol and and and Hey SEUs both said Hey, I'd love to go play for Seattle.
Right, they've been you know, a SEUs has just been with Dallas.
But for Paul, he was with d C United and then and then Dallas after that. And I'm sure, but he wants to come players, so they want to they want to have a good game. So you got to bury him, You got to bear him. You got to get a two goal lead, and you can't let them think they're going to get back into it. Kellen was saying, you know, we got we were a little lackluster at the end, and frankly, our two goals were exceptional, good passing,
very good finishing. They're goals we just let ah, you know, we let our foot off the gas for a second, kind of lost the plot for a second.
So that's gonna be talked about.
But the reality is we got a game Wednesday, very very important game with Antiguists, so we got to get the heads right, you know, And.
We'll talk about that Antigua game coming up in a moment. But it's time for our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match. We had two Jordan Morris goals to choose from. Let's go with the one that tied the all time club record poll.
Here's Morris. He's got a chance of ty ruis he does.
He stands in front of the south and two arms up in the.
Air and the play of the match is presented by Emerald Queen Casino at the betting Capital of the Northwest. Calln that's your player to watch tonight. Jordan had had
a big game. I mean, like, listen, I'm wondering. Obviously he's had some very very big games in the past, But what made you choose him for your player of the Player of the match Tonight we talk about how Jordan's from here and he loves playing in the rain, and he's told me I was playing in the rings, the ball just kind of slides his way right, Like I said, there's gonna be bobbles, there's gonna be a
little mishaps. And Jordan's the one that's going to be the willingness and the awareness to make that run and then obviously in the mindset, but he's got he's also got the pace to make it right. You know, Coach and I are making that run because we we won't get there.
But Jordan, Jordan is you found it today? Like look at the second goal.
Even the first goal get in front of his guy and Georgie was able to find that pass. But the second goal, he waited, He waited, he knew Albert was going to play in the ball. He made the correct run at the right time and he found himself right a one on one with the goalie. Uh and obviously was it's not an easy finished so he put it away very nicely.
But look for Jordan, we.
Talk about how he's tying now rau Wohl.
And he's been here a long time. He's had a long career here in Seattle. But you gotta remember he also missed two years with two acls.
Right, So he's doing all these.
Great numbers type diabetes, Right.
He's got a lot going against him.
Yet he's still overcoming all these things and and he's still creating, still scoring. He's still one of the greatest guys on the field and off the field. I mean, all credit goes to Jordan, and we wanted the hat trick tonight, but we I'm very confident, every very confident in saying that. You know, he's he's gonna break that record and and well deservingly a hometown kid is going to be all time leaving goals score here soon.
Yeah.
I love the celebration after As you said, he just just put.
His hands up in the air.
He's he's not the most demonstrative guy celebrating goals. Uh, but that was I don't know if it was was it relief when he did that, or.
Was it like it was that I'm here, yeah, Hey, I'm still here.
Hey.
And also this is I'm a designated player. I mean, I'm well deserved, well documented how how because of his production the last two years, his contract went to designated player level. And also you may there was some discourse here and there he's saying, that's why I'm a designated player.
I can do things like that.
Yeah, I love to celebration. It was just it was it was.
It was called and a little humble and a little bit like, yeah, yeah, it was great.
It was good, very good celebration.
It wasn't It wasn't like he was, you know, running toward the crowd and giving anybody any right.
It was it was very.
Nice and Jordan fashion he finished that off.
Yeah, yeah, and he was It's like when he swore his first goal and he ran to the camera after some was born and did the tea. But he did that one time. That was classy. He didn't need to do it every time after that for THEO. But yeah, that was and it was a terrific goal.
And by the way, it's a hard finish.
It's hard, super hard to finish the last MLS goalkeeper of the year.
Yeah.
Yeah, A little bit and a little bit of wet helped him on that one as well, but he struck.
It really really well. So and by the way it has been.
Uh, if you're a Caddyshack fan, this is the golf course where the guy's going. I don't think it's I don't think the heavy stuff's coming down for a while, your eminence.
It has been pouring rain the entire time. So for the.
Fans that stuck through this, right credit, the gotta give them a lot.
Of no no, no, no, no.
Yeah.
And I know what a movie I'm gonna be watching when I go home tonight.
Well for the Sounders, listen, great moments for Jordan, but sadly it is the only goal in the ninety second minute, and that's what's gonna eat away at a lot of people, I think, because it is a two to two final instead of a two to one win. And hopefully those two points don't come back to haunt us, you know, in eight months from now.
But we'll see where things end up.
One more break here, we'll get to you on the postgame show, and then we will get to the next match preview, and that of course is Conka caf Action on Wednesday. I will say that, yes, it was only a draw, but this season, just like last season, it's back. This is my absolute favorite read because I absolutely I
take advantage of this. I honest I take advantage of this many times each season because this season, when the Sounders win, you will all win a free nick Chicken the next day, exclusively in the McDonald's app with any minim two dollars purchase down the McDonald's out today and check out the deals waiting for you. I get it.
I get a side of buffalo sauce, I create a little buffalo chicken McChicken and have the mcflury on the side. God, it's the what McDonald's do you go into the ice cream machine works?
I'd never get it. What do you mean you can get a.
Mcflurry Federal Way McDonald's right off, you're right, Everything in Federal wagh is great, so good. So yeah, free McChicken when the Sounders win. That's not tomorrow because Sounder's got a two two final in the night. But when the Sounders win this season, mark just.
What a tea can.
Still Hey, you can still do it.
Go to McDonald's mcflurry and the McChicken. You just have to pay a couple extrakes bucks for the McChicken. It's worth it, trust me, all right.
We'll get on Breid Break here and then we'll come back and talk about Conker Calf second leg against Antique. What coming up on Wednesday? More next on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R f M.

Now back to Seattle Sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Hey, okay, no more talking about mcflurry's.
Okay, I'm done.
They are delicious.
I am craving one right.
Now, alrighty, but craving one because I am a little bit sick to my stomach because the Sounders couldn't wrap up all three points.
Tonight. It's a two to two draw with Charlotte own goal.
In the ninety second minute that gave them their second goal, and it is a two to two final.
But now we all turn our.
Attention back to conca CAF action on Wednesday, because the Sounders are once again in the pursuit for a CONCACAFF Champions Cup Round one Leg two against Antigua GFC. That's coming up on Wednesday, February twenty six. That's this Wednesday seven thirty pm kickoff here at Lumenfield. Folks can also watch it on f S two. We will not have a radio broadcast so FS two to watch that match, but I look forward to seeing everybody here at Lumenfield
on Wednesday night. Now, the big question is given that you lead three to one from the first leg last Wednesday down Guana Mallet, and given that we saw Jordan Morris play the entire game, Hays who's Ferreira, and Pedro de Ovega came off the bench late got some minutes in. We saw also heavy minutes for guys like Christian, for guys like Albert Pete and Callen. I'm wondering how Brian Schmitzer organizes his starting eleven on Wednesday.
I think a lot, Yeah, I think a lot of times what's logical and logical would maybe not have Jordan Morris in there. You do have the three to one lead, right, Jordan just logged a lot of minutes tonight and then the last one, and so maybe you but but you still give them the time. Maybe you just kind of rotate so that the guys who started this one and were subbed off in the sixtieth minute or whatever that exact time was, maybe you rotate it a little bit.
I think you've got all the subs that came in are certainly starter material, and so I think Brian, I don't know, I think he'll go with a lineup that's different from what we saw is starting tonight.
Would you agree with that?
I would agree with that, But I'm gonna give you a little devil's advocate here. Does this result, you know, not coming down and losing this last minute, does that weigh on one the players, but also Brian's decision coming to Wednesday? Yeah, does he now say, hey, we have to make sure that these guys heads are on right, especially going into this full season.
You know, there's this.
Question of do they have the legs?
Yeah, but also is the question of I want their mentality to be we have to go.
You know, this is the time where we go kill.
Amar and Jackson's an interesting point on that because you're considering what happened there in the ninety second minute.
Those guys put them out there.
Make sure that that there are right and you know there's center backs they can go every day of the week, right, Yeah, no, but but yes, I'm saying that is obviously part joke.
Right, But Jordan's hot right now with two goals right right, and these one goal from owning.
The records, So maybe you do start in for that.
It's an interesting, interesting one to see what he'll come up with, because then again, we've got another MLS game a few days later, right, and.
Then well that's where you go as well as look this is we talked about how there's a little bit of rust on things and we have a deep squad, right, but that deep squad hasn't played yet, not everyone. They've still only played what fifteen guys, yeah, out of this roster. So let's you know, can we get Joe Paulo back on the field. Can we get Danny Leave on the field? We saw John Bell Jonathan Bell for a little bit, you know, can we get him some minutes?
Can we find ways to get other guys? Can hazeus?
Can hazeus play number nine? Yeah, and find a way to push Jordan even farther? So can can you know, can pay to the vega continue his run and make sure he gets minutes involved? You know, you said guys that came on are going to be guys that are gonna feature in this team for a fair amount of time. You know, can you fall Rothrock another runout, making sure that he's he's confident going into this season and not just a one off. Here's your game and that's it, right.
You know, you got to give these guys a little bit more chance. So I think you're gonna see a lot of rotation as well. To answer your question, Jackson, is that I think you're gonna see a lot of rotation.
They are three one up.
There's going to be chances for guys to get minutes in this next game on Wednesday, knowing that it's a midweek game after you know, the first first week of the season, we've got three games. That's pretty incredible. So I think you're gonna see a lot of turnover, but you're gonna see the mentality and I think the subs are gonna come quicker than we think because of this result.
We've heard oftentimes in past years we're built for this. Well, Yep, We're built for this, and this is part of the part of the drill. When you are an elite team, you are going to be pilling. We have four competitions. We're participating in a deep team, and we have to be a deep We are a deep team and we have to be a deep team. So this just kind of is a test for what we've put in place, yep, and I like our chances. There's I don't think he can make a bad decision on the starting eleven.
Let me just wrap before we wrap up the show with this quick comment Jordan Morris obviously eighty six goals all time type of mark tonight. The game on Wednesday against Antigue was obviously here at Luminfield. Saturday's match is at Real salt Lake. Wouldn't you want Jordan to get the record in front of home fans. I'm just gonna leave it with I don't know, but it's it's an interesting point that I thought I would just put forward.
As we end the show, we will see what Brian does. Again, no radio broadcast for Wednesday, I will quickly I mention that for salt Lake coming up a week from today at Rail salt Lake, one o'clock Providence, he's Premuchal one thirty kickoff over on nine to fifty kr am. That's the next broadcast we'll have is next Saturday afternoon one pm for the Sounders at salt Lake. But again we will hope to see everybody here at Lumen for the Antigua match on Wednesday.
Folks can also watch it on.
FS two and know they won't bump us this time because Messi's playing in the snow.
All right.
That will do it for tonight's badcast.
I want to thank everybody involves Killey Dunning, our fantastic broadcast producer and director here, Danny Jackson, Steve Zachwani, Michelle Ludkill with a great call tonight. Thanks to all of you fans who stuck it out through the massive rainstorm that only continues here at Luminfield.
