We're available anywhere anytime. Stream us on the iHeart Radio app, on Alexa or Google Play, and it's Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFL. Now back to Sofdie and Dick on your home for the Huskies and the twelve man. All right, five forty seven. We got the Cracking Avalanche coming up. Pregame six thirty, face off at seven o'clock. The boys looking for their first win of the year, you know, coming up against the team they knocked out of the playoffs a year ago. They got to ever fits

you joining us at six fifteen. But right now, I'm kind of glad that the Sounders had to buy this last weekend. I wonder if our next guest had a chance to sit down and maybe enjoy the Dog game on Saturday against the mighty Oregon Quacks. Brian, did you watch the Husky Saturday the Mighty quack Uch Losers? God, I love you, never change. I mean, Nicoladero was there. I know, Tommy Doucher, some of our guys were there. I think everybody in Seattle was watching that game. That

was an exciting college football game. If you found out that your players were at the game, and then Rush the field with the fans, and we're a part of that scrum on the field after the game. Would you be okay with that? I'd be totally okay with that. I skipped full on a Sonics beat whoever it was in an NBA finals in nineteen eighty school hanging out downtown championship parade. You got to do those things softly, You got to live a little. So this the year, coach, I mean,

give us a little break. Is this the year for the Dogs? Not only to get to the final four would be for the second time, but to get even beyond the final four? I mean as pressure on Kaylan the boar. I mean, I think he's a tremendous coach. I actually met Caylan and JaMarcus at a Northwest form Club dinner and those guys were super awesome people. So I wish him nothing but the best. And yeah, it

looks like they got a team to beat. All right. We play a game on the radio show every now and then called you can only have one. You can't have both, only one national championship for the Huskies or an MLS Cup titles. Gotta pick one. Let's see, let me think about that. Softy, Okay, I'm just kidding you. Man. Brian Schmetcher is with us all right. A couple of weeks ago. We haven't talked

since the nil nil draw versus Vancouver. You got one game left. We talked a couple weeks ago about Hey man, maybe this is just what your offense is. It's October, you got a game left in the regular season, playoffs starting a couple of weeks. Are you willing to say that this is what your team is, a defensive minded team that needs to rely on great defense and goaltending. Or do you believe that there still is more left in the tank offensively for you guys before the playoffs begin. I think,

Shati the answer to that is yes, it's great. They were unbeaten in eight games, playing solid defense, Steph Fries awesome. But we do that. I mean we got to score some goals. I mean we got we got to figure out a way how to be a little bit more goal dangerous. I think it's within the group. I think Raoul's had a good week of training. I know Jordan, they all want it. A Bears look good, Albert Nico, they all trained well. So somehow we just got

to translate that into actual results. Well, you mentioned ra will look good. How will he factor into the game this weekend? Full go. Well, he's one hundred percent available for selection, Dick, and I'll tell you that he'll see the field. I mean he's going to play. It just depends on where and when. Okay, when do you have to make that call? Well, I'm going to make that call probably tomorrow training to see see see how he looks. Yeah, do you feel like you have your

eleven set for the playoffs? So you're still kind of maybe tinkering a bit over the weekend with that. I think I'm pretty set with the playoffs. What we're gonna start with. I obviously have the benefit. Look if Roll doesn't start for some odd reason because he hasn't played in a couple of months and he's coming back from some niggli injuries, how great is it to have a guy like that off the bench. I've been kind of platooning Albert and Nico. You know which guy is going to get the nod? How great

is it to have one of those guys coming off the bench. I've I've got a bunch of young kids that are chomping at the bid. I've got Callan Roe back from injury. I've got a pretty deep bench, so if things don't go well in a certain game, particular game, I've got some tools to work with. Well, looking further at this offense, it seems like kind of an every other match thing, right, you go two, then one, then two, then zero, then two, then zero then

two. So I mean, like, how is why has it been kind of a herky jerky because there has been times where you've gotten those two goals that you're probably gonna need to win most matches. Yeah, and I'd like to make that number three dick, of course, but I don't know. I'd have to look back at the sequence of the matches. Each game is

a little different. Certainly the last game against Vancouver, I mean overwhelming statistically, Weve bombarded them and their goalkeeper just stood on their stood on its head. But yeah, that draw put us in a little bit of a trickier spot in order to stay up in the top four of the Western Conference.

So you know that was that's the thing we've got to fix. Well, Bryce Metch was with us, what do you make of this Saint Louis team that you'll see on Saturday first year, first place in the West, seventeen to five and eleven, really really good squad. And you'll see him Saturday in Saint Louis. Tell us about these guys motivated because everybody, everybody said in all their preseason, all the experts and their preseason predictions had them finishing

like last or second to last in our conference. And you know, I think they used that to their advantage. Uh. They were one of the teams that had a little bit of a build up, a ramp up. They had some guys playing in the USL. Good coach, I mean, it's a solid squad. They just seem to have found a good way to play. Look, they're Midwest teams, so Midwest teams are always hard working. They got guys that are honest. So it's a good squad, deservedly,

deservedly first in the West. Well, Jackson voted them last, so they're particularly feisty because of him. You can blame Jackson, right, you know, Brian, what do we say about Jackson? By the way, Yeah, Jackson doesn't know yourself. Now, Wow, okay, State, my mother might be little got so coach, do you follow it all? What happens on that in the La Vancouver game. You guys can finish anywhere from second to sixth in the conference based upon what happens on decision day.

We are now looking at all of the different clinching options. Yes we are. Uh. The best way to end up number two, Dick is we just beat Saint Louis and and LAC obviously have the loser tie of the White Cats. But if we can get three points, that's the best. Then you know we ain't gonna fall further than third. Yep, you know if we beat them, if we draw, there's other scenarios. So getting a point, getting three points, that's going to keep us in the top four.

Hey, Brian, before you go, we haven't talked about the format and the playoffs this year. First round is a is a three match series, and then it's and then it's one game each round. I mean, on the surface, it seems like the dumbest thing I've ever heard? Are you a fan of this? I'm gonna come into this softy with eyes wide open. I'm gonna try and have an open mind. It is different. I mean I was a proponent of one and done last year. I think

those games are high intensity. You know, the road team has a shot of winning it's upsets. There's you know, the home field advantage is certainly there. You got to play well. You're deserve a champ if you can get through a gauntlet of four must win games or five must win games. Now this is a little different. I mean a best of three. I don't know if they thought that. A lot of sports in America they go

to a best of three. I don't think soccer players should ever go best of three, best of three, best of three, because we just don't have the legs in us. But I'll take a look. I'll let you know afterwards what I think of it for sure. All right, Well, after you win the MLS Cup we can talk. Then they'll probably like it then exactly. You know what's that we won the championship. This format sucks, all right, Brian, you're the man. Best of luck Saturday.

We'll talk soonbody, all right, take care, guys. Brian Schmetzer with us
