Welcome to the Sounders FC pre mat Show presented by Providence Swedish tonight from the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield, Your Seattle Sounders FC faced Sporting Kansas City. Tonight's match is presented by Region's BlueShield, the official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. The Providence Swedish Premat Show starts now.

Speaker 2

Well, coming off of one of the weirdest, wildest wins you'll ever see, a four nothing dismantling of Columbus, who of course played the entire second half without a goalkeeper. Your Seattle Sounders have come home to begin what is effectively the final stretch of the MLS regular season. We got six left, three in a row at home, and it will begin with the Sporting Kansas City squad coming

here tonight to Luminfield. So welcome to the Sounders FC pre Maat Show presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Guys, I would love to open it up and spend a lot of time just again reflecting and smiling and talking about the four nothing went over Columbus and how crazy it was. We don't have time for that because kickoff is just over twenty minutes away here and what is a beautiful luin field do?

It was cloudy and rainy this morning, the sun's come out. It's absolutely perfect here in Seattle for tonight's game, kickoff just over twenty minutes away. We don't have time to reflect on last week. It's time to move forward and we got a game tonight against Sporting Kansas City that will be tough, and we got to talk about exactly what the Sounders are putting out tonight. There's a couple

specific interesting notes going on right now. So Kelen Rowe Pete viewing Jackson Feltz, We're gonna dive right in and get right to Sounders Sporting Kansas City where it's just a few minutes away. Pete, let's dive into the delta. Starting eleven for Brian Schmetzer's Sounders, Ryan.

Speaker 3

Schmetzer puts out is typical four to two three one Fry as your captain.

Speaker 4

In goal.

Speaker 5

On the right is Christian Alex rolled.

Speaker 3

On on the left will be re Baker Whiting in the middle of the park, center back Jackson, Reagan and Gomez Andrade in the midfield.

Speaker 5

In the middle of the park.

Speaker 3

Oh, but Vargas will sit next to Christian rolled On. On the right hand side, Georgie Manongo gets his first MLS start, and on the left hand side Paul Rothrock in the middle. Underneath Jordan Morris will be Albert Rustek.

Speaker 2

And it should be know a couple of things. First up, Peter de Levega is on the bench for Brian Spencer. He's not on the injury reports. Quickly on that the Providence Swedish team health report. I'll quickly mention that Jul Paulo is still out one to two weeks with a cap injury. Knew who out he just came back from international duty. We know VO two questionable with a knee injury. But as he is on the bench as well, Rebaker

Whiting starts in place of new who as well. Really quickly and no, I'll mentioned that that's presented by Providence Swedish, the official healthcare partner of Centers FC. Now let's shift over to the Kansas City side. Callen, what is Peter Vme he's putting out tonight? Peter Me is going with in goal the WWE Superstar to Amelia right back Kyree Shelton in the two center backs, you have Robert Vallader and Danny and Danny Rossero left back Leopold. Their two

sitting center mids are Walter and the Song. On the right side, they've got Russell in the middle of Tommy and the left Shallowy and up top for them they have Palito. All right, Well, let's go back to Seattle. Let's we'll talk about Kansas City. Later also mentioned that tonight's match is presented by Regent's Blue Shield, the official health plan partner of Sounders. I've seen visit Regents dot com today, So calln I'll go with star with you.

The Sounders lineup. Georgie getting the start. We know how electric he can be. You have Paul on the other side, restarting some opportunities here to get a good result against a good sporting Kansaid team, regardless of their record, regardless of their points situation. This is an opportunity for a few specific guys today death they have a chance to make a name for themselves.

Speaker 6

Now.

Speaker 2

It's almost like he's putting out a raw talent kind of lineup tonight, and it's a lot of like you said, electricity, But can that electricity become something.

Speaker 7

A little bit more. I don't want sparks here and there.

Speaker 2

I want a lot more than that. Can Georgie do this for sixty to seventy minutes? Can read Baker Whiting shut down one of the best attacking wingers in our league. Johnny Russell as well as Kyrie Shelton coming in late in that right back position. And then for Paul Rothbrock, you know, beat Polly primetime. Make sure you continue to go the way you're going and work as hard as you are, don't stop, and that's gonna help. I'm definitely gonna help Rebaker Whiting on that side.

Speaker 3

I think when Peter Vermie sees what Seattle puts out, you're right. Johnny Russell seven goals against the Sounders. And I remember when Kay Kamara a few years ago was playing for one of his many different MLS teams through his journey.

Speaker 5

He is a cunning player. Johnny Russell's the same.

Speaker 3

Johnny Russell running at Reed Baker Whiting and then being elusive with Rebaker Whiting is gonna be something that Brian Spetch is gonna keep an eye and then the two center.

Speaker 5

Backs have to keep an eye on to help read on dealing.

Speaker 3

With Johnny and then on the right hand side, I'm with you, Georgie, I like him a lot quality.

Speaker 5

What's his final pass look like?

Speaker 3

You know, you watch the EPL games today and there was some tremendous service from the flanks. Georgie's electric can get my people? Is that last pass gonna be quality? And then we got to win the center of the park as well. With Christian Roldan and bulvid in.

Speaker 5

There, we're gonna make sure that we own the center of the park.

Speaker 8

Yeah, him and obviously that combination there in the middle, we'll certainly be talking about that. I think even in the postgame show. That was what big point of conversation with Christian Rodan in the midfield where he has been kind of stepping in for an injured Joel Paulo. We'll talk about that, I think in the halftime show and

the postgame show. For whatever happens for the Sounders today, we are just about fifteen minutes away from gick here at a very beautiful Emeralds Bean Casino pitch at Luminfield. Today's count On to Kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 2

We'll take a break here in the Providence Medi's premat show. We'll come back and talk about the visiting Sport Kansas City Club. Listen, they are playing for their lives right now in Major League Soccer and you potentially could get maybe eliminated today if certain results go. So what do they throw at Seattle tonight and what does Peter Vermees do. We'll talk about them next year on Sports Radio nine fifty KJRM.

When I think about what we do, I'm here at jeninteg and we do a lot to actually tell the broader story of our company and the legacy that we stand upon forty five years marketing more than forty medicines. I'm over that time period, and we celebrate

that in story form, in audio format. It's a great way for people to learn more about what we offer and to be edge in an easy and convenient way.

Speaker 12

Honey?

Speaker 6

Wake up?

Speaker 9

Well, huh, what's up?

Speaker 12

You were talking in your sleep?

Speaker 14

I had this dream McDonald's Daily Double was bogo for a dollar, just like the McChicken mcdoubell and hot and spicy McChicken.

Speaker 12

Honey, that's not a dream. The daily Double is bogo for a dollar.

Speaker 14

Oh, my dreams are coming true about that?

Speaker 6

What do you think that dream means?

Speaker 12

I guess you really like McDonald's bogo for.

Speaker 9

A dollar items. Oh, you're good person.

Speaker 15

Participation maybary can't be combined with any other offer. A combo meal valid for item of equal or lesser value bought up b bu buck.

Speaker 8

In back to the Providence, sweeths pre match os from a sunny and luminfield. The sun is out beautiful evening for soccer here in Seattle. It's also a youth day at Lumenfield, where I was told we are going to get the like, you know, one hundred kids or whatever the number is versus two pro form pro players. Callan I know Brad is playing. I think you should go down and play to you today.

Speaker 2

Well, it was it was a hard one last year when I stepped in, became that extra player, gotten assist. Yeah yeah, yeah, came up really almost missed a wide open center of the game. But then that was also the same game that my career ended, So.

Speaker 7

We should probably not talk to you about that.

Speaker 2

Hey, don't go out there and play.

Speaker 17

No, no, I mean I was.

Speaker 7

I was going out there to warm up because I was gonna.

Speaker 2

Come into the game and then I went in the game for five minutes and tore my quad.

Speaker 7

Well, it was worth it because those kids smiled and I got an assist.

Speaker 5

I don't think it was I.

Speaker 2

You know, hopefully nobody gets hurt when it's the kids versus the firm player.

Speaker 7

A great start.

Speaker 8

That'll be fun later today and we will not remember what happened last year to Kellen. But listen, guys, we got to get to tonight's Sharpvision opponent, ALEC. Taking a look at the visiting Sporting Kansas City squad to Night's opponent, ALEC, presented by Sharp Vision, Modern Lays and Wentz, the official laser provider of Sounders. FC Casey's having a tough year seven wins, seven draws, and fourteen losses.

Speaker 2

They entered the weekend at twelfth place in the West with just twenty eight points. That's fifteen back of Seattle.

Speaker 8

Listen, they're forty five goals scored, is four more than the Sounders, But there are issues on the defense, and there are a lot of issues. Fifty three goals allowed that is twenty one more than Seattle and the second most in the Western Conference. But callens, we kind of what we're talking about they still have talented players on the offensive and especially that the Sounders need to worry about today.

Speaker 7

Well, you mentioned that they score goals.

Speaker 2

Yeah, they might have some holes defensively, but I think that's a little bit of the Soundress hole at the moment as well as trying to find.

Speaker 7

Break teams down and score goals.

Speaker 2

Let's take the Columbus game out of it. It was a little bit awkward, a little bit weird with the no goalie. But you look at this Kansas City team and you're looking at their front four.

Speaker 7

Front five, going, oh, that's some goal scorers there. I mean a known goal scorer.

Speaker 2

In Pulito, you have Tommy who makes good plays shallowy and Russell on the wing. We're always going to create shallowby coming in on that right foot and scoring goals, which he's done here at Luman. Johnny Russell kind of that. He's one of those guys that can get you in trouble and rebicker while you had this trouble last time.

Speaker 7

We played him.

Speaker 2

He dangles that ball out like a worm on a hook and he's just waiting for you to bite, and he's if you do buy, he's either buy you or you're fouling him, and that's where those cards come out and things get a little more dangerous. He's such a smart and talented player and he hasn't lost a step, which is great.

Speaker 7

But the one for me is Kyrie Sheldon.

Speaker 2

I've done this before and I've been that winger to then obviously gone back into.

Speaker 7

The outside back role.

Speaker 2

Kyrie is a talented, athletic, willing player. If he can make his defensive stuff, if he can do that correctly, his attack is coming in late. He can cross the ball very well, he's got the pace, he's gonna.

Speaker 7

Have the time on the ball, and a play one two with Johnny.

Speaker 2

Russell, a guy who's that intelligent. That's a dangerous side for me. When it comes to sporting kids of City against the young crew in Seattle Sounders, I.

Speaker 3

Agree with that they've got a lot of talent. Here's the stat that makes me most concerned. In the last ten times we've played them, Kansas City's won seven of those YEA. So they have that mental edge with the Sounders. And there's because of some Open Cup games between these two teams a long time ago. There's some great rivalry between them between the coaches This is Peter Urme's five hundredth game today. That's an incredible I think Ziggy and Bruce Arena are the only two.

Speaker 5

That have more.

Speaker 3

But it's the thing that mentally Kansas City has. And Kellen's right, and Shelton is smart. He's a goal scorer, right, He's a smart player. He's probably extended his career going to that backspot. But you know those guys that, yes, they do, they do. And here's the deal. I mean, they know, they read each other. They all understand what the other one does, so if they get an opportunity,

they don't miss too much. But on the other side, you're right, the goals that they've been given up, that's that is a huge number.

Speaker 5

The only other team that's got Moore's San Jose and they're out of the playoffs already, so fifty three goals. Neil is a good goalkeeper, but he has not had a great year this year.

Speaker 2

He's also a wrestler, so he.

Speaker 3

Has thrown yes, one of our guys, Christian, as you guys pointed out, Christian to the ground, and that's an amazing one.

Speaker 2

But again this rivalry, betweenty's two timing works out the booth you're hearing right now. Are four to Melia be introduced by the way.

Speaker 3

Yeah, well that's what happened here at Looman, so I can understand why people aren't gonna forget that one as well. But it's a it's a potent offense, and it's a smart offense. And I like your point. As an outside back, when you've been a when you've been a forward, you pick and choose when you go. And he's smart enough, he's said so many years in the league. He's smart enough to know when to go. And Johnny Russell is smart enough to find him and combine with him.

Speaker 2

It's just an interesting team and an interesting season for them. Look, they're in the final for Open Cup coming up here soon. And then you've got a game where it's Peter Mesi's five hundred game. You've got a team that really rallies around each other when things are aren't going well, which is most of the season, and if they lose, they might be out. So if the Seattle Founders can get on top of them quickly, they might think, Okay, let's just focus on the Open Cup. I've been in that

position before, Like, hey, the Open Cups aren't our season. Now, Let's let this go and we'll find a way out in the other in the other games. I think Seattle needs to come out because if you give a team like this life who's willing to come up, that's when you need your veteran guys.

Speaker 7

To come with stabs.

Speaker 8

Only ten days away from that Open Cup final, let's switch the switch gears back to the Sounders fifteen second seat.

Speaker 2

Choose your player to watch ree Baker Whiting. I need to have him a good game because he's gonna have a lot of firepower from Port against the city running up that line. If he can control himself, keep everything in front of him, and keep his smart head, he's gonna have a great game.

Speaker 17

For me.

Speaker 5

It's Fry. Fry has four cups.

Speaker 3

He's the only player in Major League Soccer that has four cups. Tonight, if he gets a shutout, he will surp out. He's right now tied with Kevin Hartman from the Galaxy.

Speaker 5

He'll go to number two.

Speaker 3

He's got a distance to go to catch up to Zick Romondo Roman who's got one hundred and fifty four. But if he gets if he gets the shutout tonight, he goes to number two and that's well deserved.

Speaker 5

I love it.

Speaker 8

Georgie manoon Ago electric personality, electric on the field. I want to see that Ross Gill turn into some cohesion, sees some tactical breakdown from him and see him make some good moves tonight that leads to a Sounders goal. Those are our players to watch. We'll take one more break here in the premat show. We'll come back because we are just about less than ten minutes away from

Speaker 23

Good Sunday afternoon from EQC pitch at Luminfield, where your Sounders take on Western Conference foe.

Speaker 17

Sporting Kansas City.

Speaker 23

Like the Sounders, Sporting KC has been a model of consistency and stability over the years.

Speaker 17

For the last few seasons has been a.

Speaker 23

Much different picture than they are trying to find form again, playing in the final the US Open Cup on September twenty.

Speaker 17

Fifth and grasping for a playoff spot.

Speaker 23

It's make up break time for Sporting KC. And then for the Sounders. They're coming off a monstrous formul win VERSUS MLS Cup champs the Columbus Crew in Ohio last week play a red card on the only goalkeeper.

Speaker 17

In the squad just before the halftime break.

Speaker 23

The Sounders took full advantage and scored four goals with a hat trick from Roznek. Sitting in seventh spot and just two wins away from second, the Sounders have all to.

Speaker 17

Play for in the final month of the regular season.

Speaker 23

I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders captain Brad Evans for the call this afternoon.

Speaker 17

Before we get to Brad For's initial.

Speaker 23

Thoughts, let's get you the Delta starting eleven for your Sounders. Stefan Fright back in goal after missing out last week due to concussion protocol and ten stitches in his head.

Speaker 17

After a collision in the Portland game.

Speaker 23

It's a back four rolled on Yevard Reaga, then Rebaker Whiting on the left retains his spot. Knew, who back from international duty but out of the squad today. Christian Rolldan alongside the returning oh Beed Vargas with you. Twenty three the Mexican national team. Georgia Munungo gets his first start after signing his first team contract.

Speaker 17

He'll play on the right.

Speaker 23

Rusnak in the ten offer three goals last week, Paul Rothrock on the left and then Jordan Morris up front.

Speaker 17

For Peter Vermes, Pete Timelia.

Speaker 23

And goal about forth Shelton Roseero Voladare and l Bold Voltaire comes in for Jake Davis who've got a red card at the very end of the game last week, and then the song plays alongside him.

Speaker 17

Johnny Russell seven goals against.

Speaker 23

The Sounders in his career. He's on the right, Tommy in the ten shallow we on the left, and then Alan Poldo up front as your number nine. Sound is in their anniversary kit today green shirts, blue shorts, white sox. They're attacking the north end, the goal to our left, and then it's Sporting Kansas City in all blue today

attacking the south end the goal to our right. As referee Drew Fisher Necktown all pink tonight for this afternoon about to get us going and as Sporting Casey has the kickbread what do they need to do and what do the Sounds need to do against what it's been typically a real difficult opponent.

Speaker 17

Over the years. What can they do to carry on from last week?

Speaker 24

The overall record between the two is twelve twelve and six and that tells you how difficult that it has been for one of these teams to get on the right end of a result. It's always been the dramatic with Sporting Kansas City, whether it's in case last minute winners here at home, in the playoffs and knockout games, and just last year and two years ago was the Bonnie Slam from Tim Milia. So it's about the Sounder today. In a hot start. It's a Kansas City side that's

gonna fight. If I know anything about Peter Vermees and the guys that are on the field, they're going to battle for every single ball. So the Sounders have to be prepared for that, but take advantage of every single opportunity and just know that within a couple games, the Sounders, if things go well, could be in second place. That's the reality of it right now, so they have to smell that well. At the same time, Sporting is just on the outside thinking if we lose this game, it's

probably over for us. So this is almost their last chance to get on the right side of that playoff line.

Speaker 23

Yep, Sporting casey twenty eight points need a couple of wins and the next couple of weeks to push them up into playoff spot.

Speaker 17

A sheltering off the right back spot.

Speaker 23

It's across the eating yard books pocket picked by the Sounders, but Jordan Morris holds it up this near side.

Speaker 17

The Sounders left say, retain possession, start to build out the back bread Big White.

Speaker 23

In his left foot just clips it down the line and it forward and up and away by Morris. Contained possession by Sporting KC as Voltaire came off the bench. It's a couple of weeks ago to score their third goal in their three zerol win. Just a couple of weeks ago against Orlando at home. They won one tie last week against New York Red Bulls, so they have to pick themselves up.

Speaker 17

They concede at the very end of that game.

Speaker 23

You're going into New York leading all the way through. It's about the eighty ninth minute. They conceded at the very end. So they're coming into a tough spot as we know. And here they come on the left hand side, just shallow. Wie plays it square to Tommy twenty five yards. We've got Streichler's left foot speculative over the top. It's gonna be a goal kick here. In the sunshine a lumin fee. It's a dapple sunlight on this inars side a couple of minutes ago and remains still no.

Speaker 24

No, it's a good move from Sporting Kansas City.

Speaker 2

It's baiting. Christian rolled on there.

Speaker 24

Everyone ran away from Christian there, Georgie ran away. Rusnak tried to make a through run. So that's a situation as a midfielder where you pick up the ball, everyone's running away and if you don't release it, you're gonna be put under pressure. And Sporting almost catch the Sounders. That's one thing about Tommy in the middle of midfield there. For Sporting Kansas City has been so good this year,

shots from distance, making tackles very dynamic. You have to be aware with a guy like that on the field because he'll take every advantage.

Speaker 17

Here's the ball in is that man right?

Speaker 18

Then?

Speaker 23

Lock sitting great saved by step and cry assistant referees.

Speaker 17

Flag does go up. Tommy maybe an inched the yard or so offside.

Speaker 23

It was a giveaway by Georgie Menungo on the Sounders right.

Speaker 17

That just built up. It was Tommy got inside the box trying to.

Speaker 23

Slide it in the boxom corner and there's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 17

They get set building out of the back, we're.

Speaker 23

Gonna throw it down for the first time this afternoon.

Speaker 17

To Michelle, Thank you.

Speaker 25

Danny as Brad and you were talking about earlier about how there's really no love lost between these two sides and how there doesn't really need to be any added motivation when these two teams take the pitch. But adding to today's match, there is an underlying storyline which is kind of interesting and hopefully Sounders will play spoiler. Peter Vermees's five hundredth regular season match is today. Is this He is one of three coaches to do this in

Major League Soccer. Ziggy Schmid the late and Great, is of course number one on that list with five hundred and forty eight, followed by Bruce Rina with five hundred and forty five matches. Again, Peter ES's five hundredth match today, Hopefully it's a loss.

Speaker 17

Thanks Michelle, Happy belated birthday to you. Yeah.

Speaker 23

Brian Schmitzer may not be there in terms of games, but he sits right at the very top, winning percent.

Speaker 17

Its second best in MLS. Some acted coaches point five seven eight one dred games played May.

Speaker 23

It's Minnesota one hundred and twenty two wins for Brian Schmitze his career. Of course, it was Ciggiy Schmidt's last game for the Sounds a head coach was against Sports in KC.

Speaker 17

In KC. Or Bred even remembers that game that was so great.

Speaker 24

I heard him not remember that game. I've never Eric Freiberg. All I remember is him faking an injury and saying, I can't do it. I just can't do it. It was too hot. I've never been in a game where you're dripping sweat when the national anthem is going on. Maybe the riding was on the wall before that one, but yeah, definitely.

I mean, it's a huge accomplishment for Peter Vermeis, and to see Ziggy at the top of that list says a lot about what he meant to this league and continues to do so through his legacy, and he's it's still so many values not just on the players, but in Peter also right, Peter was the assistant coach for the under twenty national team, or Ziggie was the head coach that I took a part of, and one each assistant coach got one pick of a player to bring on the trip and he chose me as that player

to go to the Under twenty World Cup.

Speaker 2

So I owe a lot to Peter as well.

Speaker 24

Style very similar to Zig's and just that consistency, the demand and to see all those guys at the top of the list says something about their correct and.

Speaker 23

Of course after the sound is of course you spent a little time in sporting case from a standpoint of coaching, and obviously it's a big difference between Brian and Pete. What would you say Peter's like big takeaways are as a coach when you played them to him.

Speaker 17

One of his things he brings to the table.

Speaker 24

Well, number one, it's the demand that he puts on the players to show up every single day. And you see by his haircut is the same every single day. He's like a military man. That's how he runs it. Yes, does he joke and have banter, but the expectation to work harder than anyone else on the pitch has to be the standard and when it doesn't happen, you just ran.

And so he instilled those hard, hardcore values that you know I've taken on my coaching career as well, And I always knew that it was a good day if he backed into the parking spot, because that meant he had a little extra time on his hands. And it was a bad day if he ever drove straight into the parking spot, because he needed to get into the facility as quick as possible to have a meeting with us, and that was never a good day.

Speaker 23

I think the Sounders sporting casey three coaches between both franchises over a twenty eight twenty nine year period pretty amazing when you think about the turnover in MLS Vancouver seven coaches since two thousand and nine, Toronto ten coaches since that time. San Jose, who's going to be the opponent on Wednesday, also trying to find a new head coach after get rid of their tenth coach in that period of.

Speaker 17

Time as well.

Speaker 23

Sounders currently propping up the central area of the Western Conference mentioned one win will catapult them up to fifth. Get two wins with the results going the right way above them, they get to second spot. The Sounders have it fast side the right with rolled on clips it towards Jordan Morris got his.

Speaker 17

Goal last week in the four zill win.

Speaker 23

His continues to push away get close around Rudiez. Here comes Russell right hand side, top of the box, looking to drop his shoulder, plays the boy square to Palito, tries to clip it around the corner towards the end line, comes off the face of Christian, rolled on over the end line. It's gonna be a first corner cack for Sporting kc Here in the seventh minute, you QC pitch lumin Field Sports Radio nine fifty kg AM Sounders nil, Kansas City nil.

Speaker 24

Sporting so far with the better of the play the Sounders looking for that outlet with Georgia two or three times now and he's just unable to find his feet just yet. A player like that that's coming into the game, that's built on power and pace, you got to get your first touch in and just connect the first pass. Sounders a little bit disjointed. Eight minutes into this one.

Speaker 23

Here's Russell into swinger towards the front post, headed clear by that man.

Speaker 17

Yemar continues to have another solid season in.

Speaker 23

The back line alongside Jackson Reagan, Sounders only getting a thirty two goals against this season. There's Russell again, second corner cack for KC on this right hand side. In swinger, there's the left foot again, tries to go to that front post, headed over the end line again, this time by Varguess.

Speaker 17

Be three in a row.

Speaker 24

You see what they're looking for here is Polito's actually just standing on the top of the six here, just marked up with Oben. Now he's gonna make his move, but the two previous ones is kind of standing there. That's what they're looking for. Is that little flick on the near post to the back post.

Speaker 23

Who comes again a deeper, this time straight to the hands of stet friend Fried Dick taw and oh yellow to match is blown head of hair. He pushes the back, blowing out. We're gonna throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 25

Thank you, Danny. Back in the lineup today is Obed Vargas, who returned to the Sounders this week after spending team with the Mexican national.

Speaker 17

Team the U twenty threes.

Speaker 25

He did get some tea time with the senior team and said to the media earlier this week how instrumental that was for his development, not only to see these guys in person on the pitch and their training ethic, but everything that they do off the pitch as well, from how they eat breakfast to how they train, how they take care of themselves, and so it will be really fun to watch to see if we see anything more from Obed today after coming back from that wonderful.

Speaker 17

Experience with the national team.

Speaker 24

Well, what's really cool is that he's marking Allen pa the Mexican legend, and he's the one that's marking him on a corner kicking for a player like that at nineteen years old, to mark an absolute legend that came from your country right and stated his claims one of the best strikers to come out of Mexico has got to mean something to him and that's one that you mark. I gotta switch jerseys with this guy after game, for sure.

Speaker 17

Yeah, I'm sure there's conversations will be had.

Speaker 23

Allan Polia scored last week against New York and it's talked about many times before when players come back from international duty.

Speaker 17

We've seen it with.

Speaker 23

Rolled On before when Roldan came back from national team cramp with a pep in his step. Jordan Moore is the same, and of course he's been noted by the coaching staff how Obed's got a big smile in his face, got a little and a joints coming out of that national team camp and that experience, of course, making that commitment to Mexico earlire this season his Grusnak Hat trick Man.

Speaker 17

Player of the Match day last week.

Speaker 23

After his hat trick performance, Ranch Meant talked about it in a scrum that it was a professional performance by the Sounders.

Speaker 17

Yes, it was a red cat on the.

Speaker 23

Goalkeeper, the only goalkeeper in the squad, force a an outfield player and Sawatski to go into the goal and the first thing he had to do was pick the ball out of the back of the net because Rosneck took full advantage and Bratt you talked about it in your podcast with Steve that it was so vital to get that goal before half time really set in the stage for the second half.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 24

Look, I think at any point Columbus goes in if the Sounders don't score and they have a little bit of a game plan with when you're caught off guard like that, the coach can only tell one player so much and can't really do the x's and o's.

Speaker 2

On the board of how you're gonna play.

Speaker 24

When we have to put a field player in, so credit to Rosnak just choosing that near post, try to make the keeper make a safe right and the keeper does it takes a little step left, gets caught and it finds the back of the net. But, like you said,

a professional performance from the guys. But they came out with a little bit of bite slow today coming out at Bloominfield this afternoon start Kansas City kind of dictating things right now and sitting back Kansas City and that block of ten and forcing Jackson Reagan really to make the game. Has it come off just yet? We haven't seen the Sounders connect more than two or three passes. We're already eleven minutes into this one.

Speaker 17

Yeah, both teams playing at four two three to one formation.

Speaker 23

Eric Tommy has licensed to move, as does Albert Russneck in case he has left us out with Libel. The German rolls it down the line to Eric. Tommy tries to cut it back to Libel, managed to shrug off. Alex Roldan picks it up as Tommy wis it in with his right foot, bounces through clear by reed. Baker White at top of the box is sheltered right back forward, playing in right back in the last twelve games or so.

Is Russell's seven goals in his career against the Sounders, most goals against any individual team for Johnny Russell in a great addition to MLS over the years, coming in from Scotland twenty eighteen, his jackson Reagan Sunder's gonna build mentioned step and Fry back in the lineup today. After going off against the Timbers early in that game, Andrew Thomas stepped in, playing a good game. Who did too much about a deflected shot that was a game.

Speaker 17

Winner in Portland?

Speaker 23

And then Thomas got his second EMLST clean sheet of the season. They comes rolled on, striding for top of the box, draws it to Georgie right hand side, which's alone.

Speaker 17

The six picked up well by Melia, gathers into his.

Speaker 23

Hands, safe pair of hands, the long standing goalkeeper Sporting KC.

Speaker 17

And here in the thirteenth minute, everybody's known.

Speaker 24

That, well, look, this is the first time the Sounders have actually built out of the back and bypassed that Sporting Kansas City pressure.

Speaker 2

And what happens.

Speaker 24

It's a little through ball and Christian just takes a perfect touch here to evade the defender. And then slips into Georgie. It's got an opportunity for a one on one here. Jordan sitting at the near post probably would have been off sides either way. The Sounders, Yes, when you connect passes you can break teams down. And Sporting Kansas City showing that they're willing to high press.

Speaker 2

Up the field.

Speaker 24

You saw Ope Bed pick up the ball deep in his half in Jordan. That gap between Jordan and Obed is almost thirty thirty five yards and if there's trouble, the Sounders are gonna be under it on those turnovers.

Speaker 23

As Johnny Russell coming off that right hand side with his left foot's gonna try and ping it to the far side.

Speaker 17

He does, it's gonna skip through, It's gonna go the end like goal kicks. Sounders nil nil.

Speaker 23

Today's match is presented by Regent's BlueShield, the official healthcare plan partner of Sounders FC. Visit Regents dot com today. You mentioned six games to go regular season. Four of those games are at home, so Sounders got a chance to really put some points on the board, push them up into playoff contention, try and get in the top four.

Speaker 17

As Obed, Marcus talked about just a day or so ago.

Speaker 23

They push themselves into a situation where they get a home game going into the playoffs. It is tight in the Western Conference. They mentioned Sporting Kansas City sitting on twenty eight points.

Speaker 17

When you start looking down the table, there Austin thirty four, Dallas thirty.

Speaker 23

Four, Minnesota at ninth, right now at thirty nine, So the gap has started to increase.

Speaker 17

And there wasn't too many more games with piece of Vermes and his team.

Speaker 24

I don't they must pick up a result here today. Otherwise I think the season's over for Sporting Kansas City. But they have one thing to still play for, and that's the Open Cup final at the end of this month, and so they'll be focused, determined to make sure that they're in at least fighting form by the time that

that one comes along. Because I was just talking to Ash who was part of the fitness staff there was Sporting and he's just said, it's been such an up and down year trying to get into a rhythm with League's Cup. How do you prioritize and then all of a sudden you find yourselves in an Open Cup final, and sometimes you just need to get that trophy, especially for a group like Sporting who haven't lifted a trophy

in sometime. You got to get those guys with that winning mentality and just get a taste of a trophy. And that goes back to maybe Georgia Manougal stepping onto the field. He hasn't really tasted that success just yet. But once you do, you kind of just start to get into the rhythm of playing well and hopefully chasing a trophy. For the Sounders entering the playoffs.

Speaker 23

Is sound is given away to Tommy Hey come case in transition again skips by. Just Tommy rolls out for the right hands it to Polite or tries to drive it in. It's gonna be the fourth corner cake for Sporting KC. And that's Brad what you'd expect to see for the most of this game. They back off, they pick up the ball, and then they break quickly in transition.

Speaker 24

And that's every team when they come into Seattle, right as they're baiting the Sounders into making a bad pass. We talked about it in our little pregame meeting with season ticket members. We're asking questions and one of the questions that was brought up is why don't we see our center backs dump the ball along a little bit more? He said, I watched EPL and it seems to be a more direct style of soccer. And when you get into these situations sixteen minutes in you haven't seen it.

Speaker 2

You got to ask yourselves that question.

Speaker 23

On the field, is Johnny Russell again, well, comes in bullbat sign off the line, sister Refroy, he does not put a flag up. We'll see if VAA will take a look, But right now the game goes on. Gross Rock unnecessarily barrels into the back of Russell. It's gonna be a free kick for KC about twenty five yards from the end line, right channel.

Speaker 26

Chance that deliver the ball in. But let's see if can get a replay on this. Brad Evans, Yeah, it look like that one crossed the line for you. The sums will be lucky here. But I'm not sure who If that was Georgia that cleared that one off the line, ball bounces and that one's closed.

Speaker 24

I think it was Christian there, just sitting near a post and able to come across. I'm sure they'll take a closer look at this one. But you got your linesman on the corner. Hopefully she had a clear view of that ball across the line as we watch it in. It's a well whipped in ball from Johnny Russell and Stephen Fry just gets picked. I don't think that crossed all the way over the line. That's fantastic defending there actually comes off the hand.

Speaker 18

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I think Christian clears that one off the line.

Speaker 23

It's a free kate from Russell, whips it in towards the post, easily collectidvice friend Fry again. Waste of delivery by Johnny Russell has had some chance in the right hand side to deliver the ball in with his left foot.

Speaker 17

Four corner kings so far by sporting Casey.

Speaker 23

Most of them have been in transition when the Sounders have copped the ball up and here comes the ball in behind shelter and here comes Georgie and he shrug him off.

Speaker 17

Shelter uses all that experience.

Speaker 23

It might not be a traditional right back and have too much experience in that position.

Speaker 17

Typically has played more on the attacking side of the ball, but.

Speaker 23

Means has given him a chance and there's good press by Christian rolled on. He forces Valladare to play the ball out far side, the Sounders right five or six yards from the corner flag.

Speaker 17

The hands of Alex rolled on us.

Speaker 2

One player that we want to get after tonight is Kyrie Shelton.

Speaker 24

I played with him in Kansas City national team quite a bit more against that he was at number nine his entire career playing as a number nine. It's found himself as a right back, and we asked with us in pricess said if things aren't gone well, you gotta move Georgia to the left and get our Kyrie because speed is gonna kill on that side.

Speaker 23

Here's Alex ro Don bulls clear by k C comes off flybold for corner cack full and the Sound is chanced now to put in some decent delivery.

Speaker 17

It's been mentioned before by Brian Schmidtz.

Speaker 23

So as we get to this crucial part of the season, it's things like set pieces and becomes so important the Sounders we're able to caplize against.

Speaker 17

La Galaxy the League's Cup. Do they do it now? Fast side? The sound is right, one arm up in the air by Ruslins that a whipped in with his right foot.

Speaker 6

Good Bye Morris.

Speaker 27

There's Jackson Reagan packingnet it goes sounders go up a one, a timely goal by.

Speaker 23

Jackson Reagan, sounds one Kansas City mail.

Speaker 17

And that's a.

Speaker 24

Service you've been asking for. And watch this one as it builds up. Rusnach just takes a couple of moments, surveys the scene. You see Jordan, everyone kind of standing still. As soon as he takes his first two or three steps, that's when the movie cons it's a cut, it's body in jump and it's a fantastic save. And all of a sudden, Kyrie Shelton falls asleep on Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 2

He's there to clean it up.

Speaker 24

And now that finishes harder than it looks. You've got three players surrounding, and you would think that Tim Malee is gonna hop up, but he does just the right thing, lifts the ball inside foot, directs it straight into the back of the net.

Speaker 23

Just like La Galaxy when it was a deflected header and a rebound from Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 17

Same thing here was in the right place at the right time. Roof football in the back of the net.

Speaker 23

And he gets his third goal on his campaign no goals in twenty twenty three for Jackson Reagan. Well three goals in MLS one gold in Leagu's cup, adding to his tally this afternoon, well Rickcochet's there's that man Reagan messing around clears his lines, just as bred Evans talked about, sometimes you don't have to do it too much. We know the first five minutes after screwing at your most vulnerable.

So it sounds just there, but it will concerned. They've got the lead they need now and they build on it. Here in the twentieth minute, i Q see pitch lumin Field wherever you're joining us SYNCD up with Apple at home in the car taking the dog for a walk.

Thanks for joining us Sounders in the sunshine today. And here comes Jordan Morris just touch gets away through a good step by Voladaire Sounders almost picked the pocket of Rosero, who's able to turn out a pressure of the big number five and then through the legs of Vargas switcher played by Polito from this near side to the far side the left of Shallowy Eric Tommy in support shallow We moves forward cuts inside. Three sounders come forward to defend, finds the foot of Tommy.

Speaker 17

Back to the song to Voltaire.

Speaker 23

Sounders get ten men behind the ball just camped out top of their box, left hand side Kansas City habit front of Tommy's orange boots comes across the field, challenged by George. Can he pick his pocket?

Speaker 17

Yes he does. Good play by Georgie. Here come the Sounds. Georgie in transition across the halfway line.

Speaker 23

Touch the point of attack cut out well by Rosera, but Sounders pick it up.

Speaker 17

Foot of Reznak down the left hand side.

Speaker 23

Rebakerwai's first real furry into the Sporting Ksey half for Reed.

Speaker 17

That a solid game last.

Speaker 23

Week in for Knew who checks Reagan breaks the line, finds the foot of Vivid Vargas to roll down that deflected again. Here comes Casey in transition. They've been dangerous in these first twenty minutes. In transition on the foot of Tommy, no foul given by the referee. Drew fishes right there. Tom's asking for a foil. He was nudged in the back by a rolled on nothing given.

Speaker 17

Sound has come away with it.

Speaker 24

Yeah, well done by the Sounder's good sustained pressure there for the first time, and now you know Sporting has to go. Now you're not gonna see a team that's just gonna sit back and hope.

Speaker 2

For the counter attacks. The game plan doesn't change.

Speaker 23

Here comes rock On driving into the box around Shelter, drives his left foot just wide.

Speaker 17

It's gonna be a goal.

Speaker 23

Kicks gut the Sounders warkc Neil as they get set for the goalkick.

Speaker 17

We're gonna throw it down to Michelle Danny.

Speaker 25

I sure hope the broadcast is picking this up. But the crowd is behind the Sounders. No surprise there. But the amount of reaction when that goal was scored was electric and it was kind of a collective almost sigh of relief. You have to think if there hasn't been a lot of goals scored here at Lumen Field in an MLS match for quite a.

Speaker 17

While, given Leak's Cup, an Open Cup and all of.

Speaker 25

That, and this crowd was stoked to see it. The atmosphere down here was just not something you would normally hear for a goal at this point in a match.

Speaker 17

Yeah, sounds faithful.

Speaker 23

Realize is that part of the season They've got to get behind that team be successful in front of goal In the less handle full of away games.

Speaker 17

Take away the Poland game.

Speaker 23

Three goals against Minnesota, give me a Leak's Cup break and then full goals. Of course, last week against Leak's Cup Chemps, MLS Cup, Gyms Columbus Crew, there's gonna.

Speaker 17

Be a free kick. All the Sounders on this near side, they're left with Rouzneck.

Speaker 23

He's got a chance to put the ball into the eighteen yard box. Already put in good delivery for the goal, which was headed by Morris, well saved by Melia and Jacks Origan right place, right time. Jack O Regan slowly walks up alongside Yemar. Big men are up eleven men behind the ball. For cases, they just hold their line three yards or so outside the eighteen yard box, just keeping that separation and space.

Speaker 17

But Timilia goes short.

Speaker 23

It comes rolled on, rolls its square to Alex rold On thirty yards and tries to play back to his brother, headed down toward.

Speaker 17

Right back of that.

Speaker 28

He goes.

Speaker 27

And it looks like it's Christian rolled on off his head. He knocked it down into the middle of the six. It was Jordan Morse who floushed across Timilia, and.

Speaker 29

It was his presence and put off the goalkeeper.

Speaker 27

The ball bounced through bound the bottom and Hardy QC pitcher lumin Field.

Speaker 17

The Sounders go up two goals to nil.

Speaker 24

I have never seen the Sounders run a little trick play like this before in my history.

Speaker 2

And look at this one. It's a short ball to Christian.

Speaker 24

He lays the ball across and he continues that run and he's the one who gets up flicks it on And yes, it's all about the runner that comes across the face of goal.

Speaker 2

I don't think.

Speaker 24

Jordan or roth Rock, who I think was there, got a touch. But that's straight off the training ground and you'd love to see it. You see New York Red Bull do this in the past, and a couple of other teams would rarely have the Sounders pulled this one off.

Speaker 17

Well, Drew Fisher's just doesn't yet. Did the Vao Si it's.

Speaker 23

Gonna run over to the monish if he told something is a piece, doesn't guarantee it.

Speaker 17

But the question is with Jordan Morris in a.

Speaker 23

Off soint position potential on this head, Yes, he was didn't get in the way of Emelia.

Speaker 2

I think he'll call that one back.

Speaker 24

The keepers trying to make a play on it, and Jordan, yes, is kind of intervening in the sight of a the keeper and if he doesn't make a play on that ball. I think Tim Maliah has that one comfortably. But it's the thought that Jordan makes a play he's offside.

Speaker 2

Tim then has to assume.

Speaker 24

That Jordan's gonna get a touch and it kind of slows him down and impedes. I think this one will get called back. Tim knows it. But either way, well, work's played from the Sounders. If you like to see that the creativity. You know, maybe you don't think you have the best chance of just swinging in balls, but when it's from that far out, it's a great movement from the Sounders.

Speaker 23

We saw it last week as well, when Jordan Morris is an off sawny position.

Speaker 17

I believe it was for rusneck shot.

Speaker 23

They didn't call it back. They did take a look, did not call it back. And the question is when it comes Drew Fisher will listen to see what he has to say.

Speaker 24

After review Seattle number fourteen, he's in an offside position and interferes with his opponent.

Speaker 2

Final decision is dog offside?

Speaker 18

Well?

Speaker 23

The interesting thing it calls it on fourteen on Roughs Rock, but it was Jordan Morris was the player that got in the way.

Speaker 24

I don't know either way. Both both are sitting clearly offside in this position. But the cenders all have to feel confident with this one right, Yes, it's an offside goal. All hits the back of the end. And you gotta keep pushing now, keep pushing. Twenty six minutes into this one in Sporting Kansas City. Like I said, they have to go. They can't afford to lose this game. If they lose this one, it's pretty much over for them in terms of the regular season.

Speaker 2

Are making the playoffs.

Speaker 24

And you still have something to play for though as a player, and you're gonna want to push.

Speaker 2

You're playing for contracts, whatever it may be.

Speaker 23

Christian Roldan spoke to the media this week, talked about his stats aren't great this year. One goal, five assists on his campaign, a little perfect tonic for Christian, roll dance, push forward it.

Speaker 17

To the playoffs, just get find another goal.

Speaker 23

Welf can talk about central defenders. It's three to five goals the right number. Jack Springton currently on three goals, got his goal today. Midfield player and attacking midfield players more in that six to eight potentially all gets clipped up good defending by Voladad just drives forward, plays the ball in picked up by that man Christian rolled.

Speaker 17

On, who's slid from that outside right spot, which has been his preferred position over the last couple of.

Speaker 23

Years, back in the center of the park, which he of course started his career alongside Ozzie Alonso. You've talked about Christian roll Downe of course get he plugged into the squad, Chad Marshall having a going to him in practice, it's really been just ever present man of consistency in terms of performances, and he continues to play at a really high level.

Speaker 17

Yeah.

Speaker 24

Look, I see a lot of similarities in the way that both of us have moved around different positions whenever the team asks for it. And all you want to do is a player, is make sure that you're called on by the coach. It didn't matter if you were playing left back, right back, you know, slid in a as a center backer, right mid. You just wanted to be on the pitch and show that you should be out there. When you have that much experience, it's really hard to keep player like that off the field.

Speaker 17

Well goes down the line.

Speaker 23

Vould there reads the play Well, finds the foot of labeled and it comes the song acquisition in the offseason, finds Tommy's he drives forward across the halfway line again He's had some joy in the middle of the park as the German plays it out to the Scotsman Russell, who gets clipped by Red Baker Whiting. It's a yellow card for Reid. And let's not forget it was read Baker White. You've got a red card. In the last game back.

Speaker 17

In June, he got his red card one in case he came in after not having one.

Speaker 23

For ten games, got their winner in the eighty fifth minutes. So little clumsy from Reid picks up a yellow card.

Speaker 17

It's gonna be for k c Well.

Speaker 24

The way that Reid plays the game and knew Who are completely different. And Reed's still coming into his own learning that that spacing has to be there. But you only get that experience by playing against really, really good players. Yes, he's shown it in training against high quality players on the Sounders roster, but you have to be able to do it week in week out against guys that you've

never played against. And you can watch all the film you want and in your head you're like, Okay, I'm a fast young player and Johnny Russell's on the it's gotta be thirty two to thirty three now, right on the tail end of his career.

Speaker 23

Here is Russell flicks toward the backstick outcome sephron Fry punches the ball up and away. Well, no hesitation from stephron Fry to come out get a knock still of course.

Speaker 17

Just recovering the ten stitches in his head. Where's that man of Russell?

Speaker 23

Fourteen caps for Scotland before coming over to the US, Tommy, where this right foot strikes it just scuffs, his shot goes wide.

Speaker 17

It's gonna be gold.

Speaker 23

Kick for the sounder is here in the thirtieth minute. Time flies here at EQC bitch Bloominfield Sports Radio nine to fifty KGr am it sounders one case nil Western Conference Foe sported Casey had been over the years, both teams have often fought out for top spot in the Western Conference. Then came LAFC and we in LAFC in the top fighting away sound as often right there and thereabouts. Sport in case he struggled the last couple of years about a couple of runs where Baron runs coming into

a Sounders game. Last one was ten games up being in twenty twenty four. They got their win here. The other one was down out in case as well.

Speaker 17

So sound does need to do a professional job. So far, so good.

Speaker 23

Here come the sound as that's nearside the left to rid Baker white and cross the halfway line down the left hand side. It goes to a roth Rock challenged by Shelton, comes inside to rosneck. Georgie peeling away on the far side, gets flicked towards Alex royl Dahan. Here is Georgie picks it up eighteen yards from the end line right channel you'll step over and comes back to Alex rol Daan in support. As THEBA ball goes into Rosnack inside the box, good quick feet retains possession.

Speaker 17

Options available, goes to Alex Roldan.

Speaker 23

Georgie peels away, picks up right hand so I challenged by a light bulb.

Speaker 7

Little saper.

Speaker 23

Good play by Georgie, drives into the box. Looks up good played by Volada. I read the play well, cut it out, slides in and inn steps. Sound is pressing now to retain possession. Even a way by Yams sprints across the field, try and close it down, picks it up.

Speaker 17

Drew Fisher gifts eventually.

Speaker 23

First of all, didn't give anything sound as bench precking and he rose up on their feet, as.

Speaker 17

Is Brian Schmitze.

Speaker 23

Let's go to your free kick for hamball. The big sound es central defender.

Speaker 24

Well, you have to be excited about Georgie right when you watch a one on one player like that, that's that dynamic and all it takes is a little step over there in a sweep with the right foot to take it towards the byeline. Now, the end product is what we're all gonna be waiting for. But that movement alone is why the double team came in the first part of that that allowed Alex rolled on to pick

up the ball on the top of the eighteen. I think the addition to Georgie is going to free up Alex a bit more like you it was two or three years ago, to find some opportunities in the attacking half to play well.

Speaker 23

Sometimes it's the unknown as well that could just unbalance a team like Sporting Case. So you mentioned with Reed, you know, if you don't know who you're playing against

as a challenge. What Georgie is certainly a new player in this league's coming an out as a short term loan player from the Defiance, then signs his first team contract well deserved and has now had time in each of the games that he's played in or been involved in since that signing of his contract gets the start today as long as FC socket is presented by a

prominent Swedish visual healthcare partner of Sounders FC. And here in the thirty third minute, Sounds leading one nil, Chris should rolled down in possession foot on the ball.

Speaker 17

It was his goal that was canceled out by Drew Fishers who went to the VR board.

Speaker 23

Jackson Reagan flicks it from Sense to this near side the left right front of the KC bench, bundled over his rough rock by Shelton. Enough given by the referee. Sounders retain possession.

Speaker 17

Brett so foz. They're good for Brian.

Speaker 23

He's look dangerous at times, but just like they do right now, these gives them bullaway cheap player that's been Really the area where it being vulnerable is off their own foot.

Speaker 24

Well, it might sound like Sporting Kansas City is on four to two three one, but really for me, it's a four to three to three and how they play in the front three are able to fly with Plito, Shallowy and Russell. Nothing's changed over the past five to six years for this squad. And so if the Sounders get LOLd to sleep, it's much like LAFC where they just sit three high and all they want to do

is cheat, pick up that ball and go. And the Sounders have been good, impatient, but they're getting LOLd to sleep just a little bit, a little too complacent. Just got to play with a little bit more urgency, and that's got to come from the center backs, because ball is not getting lost from the center backs. It's mostly Christian and Obed at the time that are kind of losing possession. Georgie just a little bit. It's just concentration.

Speaker 23

At the end of the day, he is a besonga it to Shelton, tucked in from his right back spot, almost playing a central midfielder, roll alongside Voltaire as Voladaire steps forward, plays it out to libel the fans.

Speaker 17

From his left back spot, comes back to.

Speaker 23

Polido trying to find pockets of space from his number nine spot. Sounds just holding the top of their box. All comes to Shelt on this right hand side, challenged by Reid, sitting on a yellow card.

Speaker 17

Of course, needs to be patient in his defending in Kansas City.

Speaker 23

You gotta think, based on what happened in the last game with Reed getting a red card, that Casey will put the ball on Russell's foot. Attack the young left back for the Sounders. It comes Sporting Ksey towards the end line, clips towards blatman Russell inside the box. Strike, good save by Fry. It was Tommy again.

Speaker 17

He's been involved in all the attacks.

Speaker 23

For Sporting Kse takes a quick snapshot from sixteen yards low to Fry's left.

Speaker 17

He makes the save.

Speaker 23

Sounders continue to lead here at EQC Pitch all season.

Speaker 24

Tommy has been there, go to and if it wasn't for Tommy, Sporting Kansas City would have at least ten less points this season. He seems to find himself on the end of everything, and he's got this tireless work rate where he just pops up in all the right place. He's got the keys of the car to get forward and keep moving. But a well worked play from Sporting there and this is the fourth fifth sixth time Georgie's

ended up with the ball. You must have more pride in keeping that ball because the Sounders have done such a good job in the back getting out of pressure. You have to be that release valve. Otherwise the ball's just gonna keep getting lumped forward. You're gonna have to fight for fifty to fifties only so many times as a center back do we look up play the ball

into your feet, you lose it. I gotta stop at some point because if we're not gonna keep possession, there's got to be another way out for me.

Speaker 23

Fifth corner kick for Sporting Kse on that left hand side.

Speaker 17

It was shallowy love Tampa the Sandus back lines.

Speaker 23

It could be another chance for Sporting case this time with Tommy to whip the ball in on top of Stepan Freud. It's been left footed in swingers by Russell on the right. This time it's Tommy with his right foot. It's gonna swing it in on top of step and Fry. Big men are up there sitting outside the.

Speaker 17

Six yard box.

Speaker 23

In it comes right on top of Fry, who steps up, punches it out well.

Speaker 17

Russell just clips it over his head. In case you have it with.

Speaker 23

Polido strike by Shallowy off the head of Jackson o'reagan in behind for another corner kick for Casey. They're sixth of the game. It's gonna be Tommy again on their left hand side with his right foot. Thirty seven minutes go on to hear its need a hold strong going into the halftime. Break ball goes into the front corner of the six headed clear by Yemar, picked up by Voltaire.

Speaker 17

Sound to step up their line.

Speaker 23

Voltaire goes low with his cross picked up by Jordan Morris outside his right foot. It goes to Georgia can eat break free now right in front of Brian Schmetzer. Teen possession is an of the game here, but Georgie tries to wriggle free. Benually gets it on the second food it ted pulled.

Speaker 30

Down by.

Speaker 17

Her Shallowy. It give me a yellow cud.

Speaker 23

As Georgia goes down the free kick full, the sound is well.

Speaker 24

It's a cynical one from Shallowy there a bit unnecessary. I think all you have to do is tug the jersey there take a yellow card, but he swipes it, almost catches him with scissors there around Georgie's leg. But look at this, a little touch to the outside. Stands up Shallowy. You know that he's an attacker and you can beat.

Speaker 17

Him for sure.

Speaker 2

He's not a defender.

Speaker 24

Gets a little nutmeg and then gets in front of him and Shallowy tugs down, pops his ankle. There just a left, but a veteran well played play by Georgie there to make sure that you just don't lose the ball. You just lost it two or three times. Now it's your job to get us out of pressure and keep the ball. You gotta sacrifice your body.

Speaker 23

Us An SGB yellow cut a fella is called SGV trial lawyers.

Speaker 17

So here to help, is it?

Speaker 23

SGB deshlaw dot com Sounders have a free kick right in front of Peter Van's pointing and directing and goes square to Yemark, goes back to Jackson Reagan and rolls it back out to this near side to read just sitting on the halfway in line wide on.

Speaker 17

The left's back to Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 23

Georgie's sitting wide at the left right in front of the KC bench, gets it to his foot, knocks it around the corner, goes past shelter with ease, cuts it in towards where has that great idea?

Speaker 17

Where's that went away?

Speaker 23

Tommy flicks it around the corner, pushed by Red as a love bit. Careful Tommy maybe looking at the referee, got.

Speaker 17

To force his hand read of coursing on a yellow card.

Speaker 23

And we'll see if Brian Schmitze takes a look at that halftime and do they need to make a change.

Speaker 17

Jonathan Bell is on the bench.

Speaker 23

He can slide in on the left hand side.

Speaker 17

Knew who not in the squad today.

Speaker 23

Expect him to be back for San Jose as he returns for international duty p time for Cameroon on that international break.

Speaker 2

Well.

Speaker 23

This copyright audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. Thirty ninth minute here Blumenfield Sounders League one nil. It's Peter Vermese's Kansas City, his five hundredth regular.

Speaker 17

Season MLS game for the KC head coach and in charges in two thousand and nine.

Speaker 23

Orgoes on the right said hits the back of Rothrocks, able to retain possession, has it now corner the eighteen roads towards the end line towards rolled On, who clips it towards us that top of the box tries to tearp shots left foot brings it down to Christian.

Speaker 17

Rolled On flicks it back sweb head ache.

Speaker 31

Guys will come back to the nsis who every s flag is not up?

Speaker 17

Sounders celebrate and it's rough Rock who adds again to his tally for the season.

Speaker 29

Continues to impress and he puts the Sounders up to nil.

Speaker 24

It's a well worked play from the Sounders. We have to watch this one on a replay. I think he might just be off sides here. We might get another look here. Albert's definitely on side in that play. Rothrock on that one, although center back makes a little change on the ball, makes an attempt on the ball there.

Speaker 2

He might find him actually on side there.

Speaker 24

And if that's the case, Rothrock, well done, slips the ball into the back of the net. The Sounders go up to nothing in this one, and you'd love to see it Rothrock on the end of it.

Speaker 2

Hopefully we get a side.

Speaker 24

View here we can take a deeper look at this one. But another well worked play from the Sounders that up back and through is really working. And how that happens is you move, you move off the ball. So Albert plays it, moves off the ball.

Speaker 17

He's on side.

Speaker 2

Oh, he's definitely on side.

Speaker 24

Finds himself in a great position just in line with Rusnack.

Speaker 2

That'll be too nothing for the Sounders. But that's where twice tonight.

Speaker 24

That little up back clip ball and it's so difficult as a defender. You kind of have to step your lines and it's that run in behind.

Speaker 17

And too goal given by Drew Fisher. He listened to his earpiece.

Speaker 23

Rothrop was offside the initial entry board, but then came back on side. As we know now the new rules you have to as long as you not involve that initial plate and come.

Speaker 17

Back in an onside position.

Speaker 23

He does that, finds the goal sound As lead to nil and have it on the right hand side with Christian roald Ar drives forward towards the end line.

Speaker 17

Case at six and sevens Now is going to be a corner kick for the Sounders. What September fifteenth.

Speaker 23

October fifteenth is LATINX Heritage Month. Support LATINX owned businesses throughout the month for a chance to win Sounders prizes. Visit intentionalist dot com to find a business near you.

Speaker 17

Three and a half minutes.

Speaker 23

Till the forty five is over, or see what the referee ads. It's been a couple of stoppages due to VR checks.

Speaker 17

It's going to be a chance for that Sounds to add to it.

Speaker 23

Here with Rosneck outswing of his right foot comes in punch clay by neely. It runs into his own player. It is Tommy Reid, picks it up with his left foot on this left hand side, clips it towards the far post and luids Russell Twyce to jump up and head.

Speaker 17

It doesn't get there.

Speaker 23

Points the foot of Rosnek go square to Vargas makes a run inside the eighteenth. There is Rosnek, quick little feet by that man Albert strike.

Speaker 27

Pushing the back by persona is a penalty.

Speaker 17

Claire's day from a pair.

Speaker 31

Vargas went for the rebounded shut struck.

Speaker 17

It got pushed in.

Speaker 23

The back by per Song and it's getting worse and worse for KC.

Speaker 17

Here sound has ever a chance to go up three goals.

Speaker 2

It looks clear as day.

Speaker 24

Like you said, it's a well worked play and it's again it's the movement off the ball. That's the difference right now, and alert Rusnak just looks like a different player. Obed gets a clear shot off and it's a push in the back and clear, I mean the referee staring right at him. This won't won't be looked at or checked again a PK. Like you said, the wheels are kind of coming off right here for Sporting Kansas City.

But how this one starts. The ball gets lofted long off the corner kick and Read does just the right thing and he clips that ball and over hits it. If it's any shorter, and Johnny Russell gets a touch on it, I think Kansas City has a chance for a counter attack, but it's overhit.

Speaker 2

And then it's the movement off the.

Speaker 23

Ball well for Rossneck hat trick last week against the Crew, a goal against Minnesota and their first game back after League's Cup. Now he's got a chance from the penalty spot this time to add to his tally. Hands on hips, four steps back from the ball, Drew Fisher just backing away, takes a breath, steps forward, he strikes it low.

Speaker 17

Can he get the rebound? It's a good save by Melia.

Speaker 23

It's a bit of a scuff penalty by Rosneck Tomilia's right made for save, whereas.

Speaker 17

That couldn't get the rebound.

Speaker 23

It's gonna be a corner kick as the referee feels that there was encroachment from the penalty, and there's.

Speaker 17

Gonna be a corner kick. Drew Fisher's just got his hands up, looks like he's.

Speaker 23

Having a conversation with somebody, but nope, the Sound is gonna have a corner kick. Missed opportunity by Roznek and the sound has got three nil.

Speaker 17

Right before the break.

Speaker 23

Here Peter Burmese, now on his feet, suited and booting in his traditional suit or comes in for the Sound has whipped in. We'll head it clear top of the box and read his left foot strikes it over the top. It's gonna be a goal kick for Melia and the Sporting KC team as they continue to trail here a lumin field to the Sounders two nil.

Speaker 17

Here, big amount of time for a number of ver calls.

Speaker 23

The board gets played down the line the outside of footby rolled down, picked up by Rozero, challenged by Georgie supported, Casey retain possession with Voladair rolls it out to light Bold on that left hand side. There's been all sorts going on down that sidelines. Brian Schmitzer just standing right in front of Michelle. We'll get to Michelle in a moment, just to get her take on the atmosphere on the bench. Now.

Of course Sounders were riding high a lot. They had a chance to make it three with Rosneck missed from the penalty spot. Is that going to breathe some life into sporting Casey and Peter Vermese as the ball goes from Roseratis near side to Shelton to Russell. So Michelle, we'll just throw it down to you. In terms of the atmosphere on the bench. Brian SCHMIDTZ, so's he feeling a little more agitated now after that penalty? Miss or still feels reasonably comfortable with this two nil leader.

Speaker 12

You know that.

Speaker 25

I would have to say the bench seems relatively calm and confident. Obviously, you know that was a disappointment. It was a mistake.

Speaker 17

It'll be addressed.

Speaker 25

I'm going to send it right.

Speaker 17

Back to you. Right for a second.

Speaker 23

Danny comes, George just puts his foot on the ball, comes back to roll Darn as a sounder, start to move into the attack in half for the field and slow it down.

Speaker 17

Roll it to the.

Speaker 23

Ryan's side with yea mar options to his right is Rothrock flicks it down the line, challenged by Libel.

Speaker 17

Towards the end line. Rothrock goes flix it around the corner of the end line. It's gonna be a goalkick. It rings two nil and we'll throw it back down to.

Speaker 25

J you Michelle, Yeah, thanks Danny. But yeah, it's overall confidence down here. Obviously, some things to tighten up and improve on. I think they'll be happy overall with the amount of opportunities they've had in front of the box. Now fully finishing those. I think this match really could be four or five Nils Sounders if they were able to really capitalize on every opportunity.

Speaker 24

They've gotten so far.

Speaker 25

But interestingly enough, I pointed out earlier the reaction of the crowd when they scored here. I went back and I looked, and this is the first time. Of course, we're up to nil right now. First time though the Sounders have scored at Lumenfield in an MLS match in

almost two months. July seventeenth against Salt Lake when they won two nil, was the last time they scored here in a MLS match, So obviously needing to keep that going here and the fans of course really just leaning into it because it's crunch time in this season.

Speaker 17

Yep, thanks Michelle.

Speaker 23

Three losses in the last seventeen games going back to early May for the Sounders.

Speaker 17

Guess what those three losses all to LAFC.

Speaker 23

US Open Cup, League's Cup and then MLS and that last game before League's Cup break when the LFC came into a really surging Sounders came out strong winners in that one as well. So LFC has gonna be the nemesis for the Sounders over the last couple of seasons and certainly this year as well. Bull goes from BA song out of the far side, little shocked by Lebold on Rothrock.

Speaker 17

He comes sporting case.

Speaker 23

With Tommy's cutting off that left hand side walls at square to Russ who's tucked away in from that right hand side squat. Lots of movement from the attacking lineup. As brad Evans had mentioned, freedom to play. That attacking third is sheltered bout to his right back. Sport tries to turn the corner, goes to Polido back to up, retaining possession as the song with Voltaire, who has been quietly efficient middle of the park in for the suspended David Spore.

Speaker 17

Comes in, played by Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 23

Sounders need to make sure they hold strong here, almost four minutes gone of the seven seven minutes added. We've had a number of VR checks, We've had a penalty miss where the disallowed gold Sounders could be up for nil here.

Speaker 17

It's going to be a.

Speaker 23

Corner kick now first boarding KC. The seventh corner kick of this first half. It's going to be Tommy who's going to roll out to that left hand side southeast corner of this great stadium. A couple of speckles of sunshine as the sun starts to set. Ball comes in, finds Russell this near sight clips it back in towards Rosero. The big number five bundled into by read Baker. White needs to be careful. Sitting on a yellow card, finds shallow. We finds Russell into the box. Can't get the ball

out from his feet. Under his feet could have rauls it over the end line. Goal kicks sounders here in the fiftieth minute, sounders lead to nil, the back of.

Speaker 17

A roth Rock and a Reagan goal. Third goal in the season for each of those players. In MLS.

Speaker 23

Rothrock continues to impress, getting a number of games now under his belt, playing in this starting lineup. De la Vega on the bench, g. Diaz on that bench. See what Brian Schmitze does in this second half. We've got a game on Wednesday against San Jose. Then we have a nice break until a week from two weeks from yesa here comes Rosnaw rolls it out to George a little step over towards the endline.

Speaker 17

He goes, can he get delivering his left foot cuts it back. Isn't able to connect.

Speaker 23

With the green shirt picked up by sporting Casey finds the foot of pleader right in front of a case bench. Ree just needs to be a little bit careful, does a good job. It's going to be a foul called on red. Brian Schmedz going have to pull the young player aside at halftime.

Speaker 17

Just tell him to calm down, be patient in his defending. Sits on a yellow card. The last thing we need here is a needless Sounders red card.

Speaker 23

As they say, comfortably ahead here to nil. Next scor update is presented by regents. All rolls down from Voladad to the far side to Libold Well Discount Tire I get thirty percent short average weight time when you buy a book online at discount tire dot com. Mentioned three match home stand for the Sounders. Four games out last six games are going.

Speaker 17

To be at home.

Speaker 23

What's that all important decision day game against Portland because they come in on October nineteenth.

Speaker 17

It's going to be some games Sounders. I'm sure we'll have someone to play for As they continue to push up the Western Conference table.

Speaker 23

Win today gets them in fifth position, sitting in the seventh right now, so they roll it out to Voladare far side the left is libel challenged by Alex Rowdan. They'll give and go around the corner, finds the ball, tries to clip it in. Alexrodan saves the ball on the end line. There are risks needed here by Alex Raal. Dan gives us it away needlessly finds Pulido sounds need to defend well, ball is dragged.

Speaker 17

Why it's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. But Alex Roldan.

Speaker 23

Hand up in the air as he should. He hit the ball on his foot at the end line and there's a referees whistle bang on seven minutes. It's an efficient first half for the Sounders. Jackson Reagan in the nineteenth minute and then Paul roth Rock at the fortieth minute puts the Sounders up two goals. Danil here at EQC pitcher lumin Field, Well, don't leave us at halftime. It's gonna be Pete, it's gonna be Kellen, It's gonna be Jackson Felt. It's gonna break it all down for you.

Here an EQC pitch at lumen Field on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in September. The Sounders lead two Goals, Danil against the Moorting Casey Everybody.

Speaker 2

Forty five minutes in the books Here from Bloomenfield. You're Sounders leading Kansas City by a score of two. Nothing could very easily be four and nothing right now, but it is only two.

Speaker 8

I'll tell you that tonight's match is presented by Regent's Blue Shield, the official health plan partner of Sounder SEFC. Visit Regions dot com today. Jackson Feltz Calen Row viewing here for the halftime show. Callen feeling good about to nothing? It could be more, but I think with the lead of multiple goals.

Speaker 2

I'm always gonna be feeling good. How about you?

Speaker 7

Like it was a good half.

Speaker 2

It started off really hot right at the start there for Sporting Kansas City getting a good chance called off side and also a good say from step and Fry, which is something I think he needs on his return.

Speaker 7

But I love the quality in the midfield.

Speaker 2

Christian rolled On and Obin Vargas are running that midfield and they're finding little gaps.

Speaker 7

And I got to give credit to the center backs as well.

Speaker 2

Yamar and Jackson are finding these little holes and playing them through instead of just playing it back. They're turning and running at that back line and then creating space for Paul Rothrock a Georgie.

Speaker 7

It's it's very good quality.

Speaker 2

However, I want to see Jordan Morris on the ball more, and I want to see more around the goal.

Speaker 7

I want to see a little bit more quality.

Speaker 5

I think they were having fun.

Speaker 3

I'd love it to be the four nothing, make a penalty kick for Rusnak and not have the offside goal.

Speaker 5

It makes me nervous at read Baker Whitings sitting on a uh.

Speaker 3

You know, I was down on the field for the first half and Johnny Russell is definitely trying to get isolated with him.

Speaker 5

He already threw the yellow card.

Speaker 7

It's gonna change. You think that's going to be a change that that that comes in.

Speaker 2

That's a good question because you know this, this happens, This happened last time they played each other, and you know, the last foul there to your last last minute or two here. You know, Reid is he's one of those guys that's always never going to give up, and he's grabbing, he's cold, and he's chasing.

Speaker 7

Back, and he's young and he's young, and so that that little chance can can turn a game.

Speaker 2

So I think it does make me nervous, as as the coach next to me, what you know, what are your thoughts on that?

Speaker 3

Well, they're definitely going to talk to him. Andy Rose is gonna talk to him. Brian no I don't. I don't know who you go with Jonathan Bell. It's not a bad idea. It's not a bad idea because of what happens I was coaching. I mean, come on, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5

Maybe I don't know pace wise and Jonathan big Key yep. With Russell, that would be my.

Speaker 3

Only nervousness about that. And but let's go back to this. The goals Jackson reg and that's his second goal. On the follow up, he did look at Jordan Morris and.

Speaker 5

Said thank you. Right after that, Morris gets a great header on that, and then.

Speaker 3

He does what he's supposed to do, which is be there for the rebound and then the second goal with Rothrock.

Speaker 5

What'd you call it? Rothrock Magic?

Speaker 7

It was Primetime Polly, Primetime Polly.

Speaker 5

And you know, he's been great on both sides.

Speaker 3

Georgie's been fun, he's been active, he's not afraid to take people along.

Speaker 5

So it's been a good half.

Speaker 3

But two nothing. A lot of times people will say two nothing's a worse lead to have. I've never believed that I'd rather be two than one. Yeah, I'd rather be two than zero's and I'd rather be two than be behind. So they're gotta make sure that one goal brings them right back in well.

Welcome back to the halftime show. You're Sounders leading Kansas City by a score of too nothing. This copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express ridden consent of Major League Soccer. We just saw the game of about a one hundred youth soccer players versus Brad Evans and James Riley. I think the final score was a either two one or three.

Speaker 2

One to the kids. James and Brad.

Speaker 5

Poor performance, So they're.

Speaker 8

Just gonna have to go into the locker room and figure out how to come back from this result.

Speaker 2

It's a tough loss for the two of them.

Speaker 8

Also, I should mention I look like Bowie was down on the ground very hard at the end of that game.

Speaker 2

I hope Booie is okay.

Speaker 8

All jokes aside, very very very fun what we just saw at youth Soccer day here at Lumenfield for Sounders in Kansas City. Okay, back to the game too, nothing Seattle over kse take Looking at the bench, it includes Nathan Josh Tensio, Roll Red. He has Peter Dale Vega, Jonathan Bell, Leo Chu, Andrew Thomas, Danny Leva and Dylan Tevez Callen Pete. What are your keys to the second half and who can help off that bench, whether it's right now or maybe in a few minutes.

Speaker 2

We talked about it earlier. Jonathan Bell maybe for a rebigger Whiting. That's a safety thing, and I think Jonathan Bell has the defensive quality.

Speaker 7

He is not going to get forward as much as Reid has been.

Speaker 2

Doing and creating as much, but he's that defensive, solid rock that we're gonna need back there to keep this lead and then to keep that shutout for Steve and Fries. You know, big number two. And then I think you know an easy one is patre Ja Levega getting him continuously getting back to that game fitness and being able to not just start a game in play sixty and kind of roll it out, but can you come off the bench and create that spark and be that player again.

Speaker 5

The first fifteen minutes are going to be very important.

Speaker 3

We got to keep the shutout. You don't want to give Kansas City any kind of hope. Johnny Russell is the kind of guy that can really elevate his team.

Speaker 5

If he starts to get some success.

Speaker 3

As Kell said, the first, you know, ten minutes, we had four corner kicks against us, right, they were in our area all the time.

Speaker 5

Friday was under quite a bit of pressure.

Speaker 3

Came over with a big save on the off side goal. But I'll tell you what, the first fifteen minutes they've got to whether they've got to kill the will of Kansas City. I don't disagree with the Bell substitution, especially since you're going against Johnny Russell, who's cunning, and.

Speaker 5

Also the fact that he did get a second yellow guard.

Speaker 2

And what I'm really looking forward to is maybe rounding out the Seattle kids scoring goals. I need Jordan Morris to get one here, because we've got Jackson Reagan, We've got now, Paul Rothrock and come on, Jordan, we need it.

Speaker 7

Round it out, buddy.

Speaker 2

I love the chance.

That one was on be song.

Speaker 23

We'd maker Whiting still on the field sitting on a yellow card, and Michelle talked to Brian coming out of the bench out of the locker roos. We'll throw it down to Michelle in a second. We'll just see how the Sounders line up for this free kick. It's gonna be rosnack just inside the Sporting KC half, Sounders leading two goals.

Speaker 17

Sanil here at EQC Pitch, lumen Field home game. Six games to go.

Speaker 23

In regular season before playoffs start in late October going into November.

Speaker 17

But here come Sporting KC. Roles in the polite on top of the box.

Speaker 23

Is wriggled free and roll don great recovery run by rolled on.

Speaker 17

It rolls over the end line and as Stephen.

Speaker 23

Fry gets set for his goal kick, We're gonna throw it down to Michelle who taught.

Speaker 25

To Brian Schmenze, Thank you, Danny, and that was actually perfect timing because Brian Schmitzer told me that this half he really wants to focus on the defending because he thinks the defending they're giving up too much territory and

giving up too much space. He says his defense needs to be braver to make the same kind of blocks that they would make around the block higher up on the field so that the bault doesn't be turning over so much, because that was something he saw in the first forty five minutes, plus the play that he did

not like. Overall, though, you know, it's obviously great that the Sounders were winning, but he says his team did not play up to their potential in the first half and really expects them to do soul here in the second half. I've got some more on Reed and the subs in a minute, but for now passed up to you.

Speaker 17

Thanks Michelle.

Speaker 23

Yet we're still Brian Schmetz coming out at halftime was waving to the crowd as the ball goes in behind. George's got a chance, Melia says on his goal. One Georgie this plays it gets clattered into by Libel, but he's more of a Georgie losing his footing than anything as the ball frolls into the hands of Melia and here come Casey playing on the front foot of me. Out the second half, ball gets headed back by Yamark, cleaned up by Jackson. Reagan goes back to Jamar on

the corner of his eighteen yard box. Sounders in their anniversary green shirts, blue shorts, White Sox tacking the goal to have right the south.

Speaker 17

Then their traditional end.

Speaker 23

There come the sound as Sporting Gaze holding a very high line.

Speaker 17

Sounds have broken that line.

Speaker 31

Ball comes into Jordan Morris over the top inside the six yard box. It was a brilliant ball by Rothrock on that left hand side, early cross between goalkeeper and back line, and Jordan Morris was not able to guide the ball in.

Speaker 17

It's gonna be a goal kick, Brad.

Speaker 2

Evans, how do you miss that one? Jordy?

Speaker 24

He'll be ruined after this play. But look, it's been back and forth ever since this one started. I'm still catching my breath from playing against fifty two kids down on the field at halftime. But this ball slips out to Paul Rother Reckon. It's a first time ball Jordie's on inside right foot. That's gotta be at least put on frame. You're just directing that one into the ground.

And it's funny how forwards every time they miss the ball they immediately look to the linesmen to see if they got called off sides, just to make themselves feel a little bit better about that one. But certainly on side inside foot. Georgie's got to do better on that one with play before Georgie finds himself in behind and like you said, just takes a little bit of a strong touch there, but that could have been his first first goal this season there.

Speaker 23

If Georgie again gets clipp bite libeled able to contain his foot, he plays the ball out to the right hand side to Alex Roldan driven in and then off the heels of Voladas, gonna be a thrown for The sound is on this n sight.

Speaker 17

The sound is right with Alex Roldan.

Speaker 2

Well, I think what Michelle said is spot on.

Speaker 24

It's kind of what we said in the first half is if you're gonna lose possession, you lose it high up the field. Don't get lolled into sleep by sportings pressure. They're actually allowing you to play in your own defensive third. And then they start to swarm and cost turnovers and that's where the Sounders got pinned back and in trouble.

Speaker 23

Hey Squsha rolled on inside the eighteen yard books driving for little step over, tries to get around Voltaire. Voladair comes across, cleans up the mess, but knocks it over the end line for a first corner kick for the Sounders in this second half.

Speaker 24

It's the little things that Christian does so well. And there was a play in the first half at the end where he takes a couple touches past Shallowy and it's the determination and the willingness to use his body to get in behind and win a corner kick. And then here early in the second half it's the ball slipped in behind a Polito and he's just faster, stronger or a depth at the ball and again to win a corner kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Ros Neck two arms up in the air and whip it in with his right foot. Good headed by Jordan Morris isn't able to hit the target goes wide.

Speaker 17

It could be a goal kick.

Speaker 23

Sounders Lee two nil off the back of a Jackson Reagan first half goal and nineteenth minute, backed up by Paul Rothrock who just put that great ball in for Morris.

Speaker 17

He's scored in the fortieth minute put the.

Speaker 23

Sounds up two nil, but he was Rosneck for the penalty spot, who had the chance to put the Sounders up three nil going to the halftime break, wasn't able to execute. It was Tim Meely who made the save, and talking to Kevin Kay and some of the guys at halftime, Mealy's percentage of saves p case is incredible. It's almost saved half the PK's in his career. As Volardaire slashes into Georgie, seems an obvious yellow card. Bred

Evans got his hand up in the air. No yellow card given, and it feels like just Drew Fisher sometimes is the inconsistencies. We're not gonna go down that path because we've had that conversation before. But it was a swipe by Voladaire or Georgie needless foil, but seems an obvious yellow card. We look at Read's yellow card earlier in their first half.

Speaker 24

Yeah, well, look, I think Georgie's in here. He takes a touch outside, Voltaire takes a nasty touch brings him down. And if he's to ground and Georgie ends up with the ball and is able to get in behind, that's what the referee has to be thinking. Can the player get inside the box and go towards goal? And has he been pulled down for a yellow?

Speaker 23

One big three kick from Brusnaks that have float in flicked off Rosero.

Speaker 17

He's gonna go over the end line on his near sign for another sound As corner kit.

Speaker 24

It was.

Speaker 17

Sporting KC. You had.

Speaker 23

Corner kicks in the first off, seven corner kicks in the first halfter. Sports in Case scored fourteen goals in their season so.

Speaker 17

Far from set pieces.

Speaker 23

It's twenty four percent of the all competition goals this year.

Speaker 17

Sam's gonna be rough with his right foot to Yema header over the top.

Speaker 23

Gold kick remains too nil and as they get set for the gold kick, we're gonna throw it.

Speaker 17

Down to Michelle.

Speaker 25

Thank you, Danny Y says you kind of noted earlier when the half started. No changes for the Sounders lineup right now, although Bran Spencer did mention that they are watching read Bigger Whiting as we all are aware. As he has a yellow card in the first half. He says jokingly, probably too many people mentioned it to him in the locker room of really watch it this half, so look for a substitution eventually coming there.

Speaker 17

He also did say that we probably will.

Speaker 25

Be seeing he through the La Vega at some point in time. There are monitoring the amount of minutes he's getting, but we should hopefully see him at some time in the second half.

Speaker 17

Thanks Michelle. Yep Vargas is on the bench for Sporting Casey.

Speaker 23

He's the player that drew that second yellow card for Reid in the last game, got a red card for Reed, and then he scored the winning goal in the eighty fifth minutes. So Sounders will not want a similar story unfolding here. So far as comfortable for Brian Schmitzer and his team as they have possession in Casey's tacking half.

Speaker 17

Field comes back to Jackson.

Speaker 23

Reagan bus the eighth highest number of touches in MLS this season, approaching two thousand touches. Shows how the Sounders like to build from the back. So he's a drivate forward. You've got a great range of passing perfect ball to Georgia right from the system. Referee ten yards or so. Leon Night drops his shoulder past live Old. He goes mad a chance to cross it, cuts back, retains possession, comes to Alex rol Dark and square to brother Christian,

who drives towards the end lines. You know, whip it across good blood by live Bult goes over the end line for another corner kick right Evans.

Speaker 24

Look what a defender for a Nightmare left back for Kansas City already got a little step over and sweep down the line two or three times in the first half. So he decides to Negate that they're probably on him. You have to get tighter. Look what Georgie does here. He bates him in. It's a little touch behind it, and then it's a little deaf touch on a forty five degree angle, and then he just pulls it back.

And as a defender, you're just breathing, trying to catch your breath, and the sounders do well.

Speaker 17

Here he is Rusnak out swinging his right foot onto the head of.

Speaker 23

Jack Swag and knocks it down clid by Tommy top of the boxes. Alex Troyldon rolls it back to Rosnak just eludes Rousnek, who's.

Speaker 17

Going one way ball with the other. It's gonna be a throwing for sporting.

Speaker 24

Case, but it's a nightmare for a defender when an attacker has the ability to mix up the play because you can't just guess anymore. You can't just think he's one dimensional. I know he's gonna do the step over and go once. That player has more than just one dimension, and he works on that craft and he can cross it. He can beat you with speed, but he can also beat you with the move in tight spaces. It's something

else and not a lot of players have it. And that's why Georgie finds himself in the starting lineup tonight. And I think he's done well so far in the first fifty five minutes of this one. Yes, he's gotten more in tune to the game and knowing that he has to connect his passes and keep it when it's not on, and he might only have fifteen or twenty minutes left, so he's got to make the most of it to close this one out.

Speaker 23

That's interesting, right, if you're a left back, you either do you want to two things. You ether drop off to be safe or you have to get very very tight, which then opens up the channel for maybe a Jordan Morrison. Behind it comes Rosera, big number five. It's down on the field for warm up and he's a big boy. Is Rosera playing alongside? Followed down in the middle of the back four Vontes Bock standing player for Peter Vermese and his team sits on the bench. Let's get the

starting lineup for the Sounders. They build from the back stepan Fry back in the goal after missing out last week due to a concussion protocol. It's roll Don Yemar Reagan the goal scorer, and then get Baker, Whiting, roll Don and Vargas in the middle of the park.

Speaker 17

It's Georgia Manunga, I.

Speaker 23

Guess his first start after signing his first team contract just a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 17

It's Rusnak and the ten.

Speaker 23

Rock up and left Jordan Morris up front. Here comes rolled On, rolls it into Rothrock.

Speaker 17

Got a chance across the six and it's Rossnack dried.

Speaker 23

It's a chance both for Rothrock and then on the ensuing deflection.

Speaker 17

It was Rosnak who tried to find the back of the net, but tight hangle his left foot knocked it wide. To be a goal. It makes two nil Brad Evans another chance for the Sounders.

Speaker 24

Yeah, that's three already clear cut chances to put this one to bed for the Sounders. And it's a silly turnover in the middle of the park for Casey and Christian Rodin just doing the dirty work and as he stretches forward, left back tucks in and Paul Rothrock might just want to take another touch towards goal there and really draw out Tim Maleia. So I don't think that

Jordi was expecting him to play that ball. I think he's thinking Rothrock might take a touch and hit it and Rusnak there to clean things up, which didn't get that one on frame. But the Sounders continue to press with good, good possession of the ball.

Speaker 17

Should I mean, let's go back to Rothrock. He was clear on a go do you take a touch for it? And then really just.

Speaker 23

Focusing on that shot because he wasn't particularly white he was inside the box or was his cross along the sixth the right decision for him?

Speaker 24

I think for me, I take a touch and see if the keeper comes out. If he stays, then I shoot. If the keeper comes out, I've got three runners in the box and Brusnak and then you've got Christian Roldana in the attack as well. And I think Obed was clear in the space there. So the options open themselves up if you can draw players to you. So yes, he needs to take another touch there.

Speaker 23

Rothrock certainly had some joy in lust penful of games and playing balls in of those outside positions both against pauland caused all sorts of problems and last week against.

Speaker 17

The Crew as well.

Speaker 23

An assist and it comes to Nano towards the endline. Alex Roldon in support light ball. Thisum does a good job. Holders line goes over the end line. It's gonna be a gold kick. But Evan, so this is the one that drives me crazy. You do all this good work. Alex Horoldan is on the corner of the eighteen. The Kansas City defenders have dropped. They can only drop so far. They can't just sit on top of them.

Speaker 24

Of Tim Leah in the goal, so there is a six yard gap there that every player should be waiting for. When this get ball gets played back comes to Alex right there. He's got to hit that ball because you've got two runners, three runners inside the box. Instead, they're waiting for that perfect play in that perfect pass to come through.

Speaker 17

Well, we're gonna get you a number of changes now.

Speaker 23

As Johnny Russell goes off for seven gold Men against the Sounds over his career, looks disappointed to come off the field. It's gonna be Steven Afrifa, he made his debut for the Canadian national teammates the USA just last week.

Speaker 17

He's gonna come on the field. Like for like Switch there, it's gonna be Willia Garda.

Speaker 23

Who's gonna come on the field? Paleda goes off. That's Ato the light for like Switch. Da has had some joy against the Sound as well with goals and it's the song who's sitting on that yellow card?

Speaker 17

He goes off and it's Memo Rodriguez leading the team with six assists. He's gonna come on the field.

Speaker 23

So three changes for Sporting Casey as they start to make their move trying to get themselves back into this game.

Speaker 17

But it's it's all been Sounders in the second half. You can't find that third goal, the all important third goal.

Speaker 23

But it comes Rock Rocks into the box towards Jordan Ris across the sixth it was Georgie were slashing his run, but Malia step forward, clecked to the ball.

Speaker 17

Good play by the Casey goalkeeper. And here they come again.

Speaker 23

For a shallow wie to Rodriguez just clips it down the line, cleaned up by.

Speaker 17

Both Yamar Reagan goes all the way back to Stephan fright dicked out and.

Speaker 23

All yellow Sounders in their anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shots, White Sox attacking the goal.

Speaker 17

To our right.

Speaker 23

So let's get you the players and the line up now for Sporting Casey. We'll get that in just a minute. As they come down the right hand side with a free foot came on for Johnny Russ on that right hand side. It's a voladaire just inside their half of

the field and it's near side the left. So it's Melia in gold back for Shelton Rose a voladaire and light bold voltaire and Rodriguez in the middle of the park free from on the right hand side, in for Johnny Russell, Tommy in the in the ten shallow we on the left with your guarden or play up front. But as brad Evans has mentioned a couple of times, they'll.

Speaker 17

Shifting more to a four to three to three.

Speaker 23

It's that typical formation shallow we high left, are guarded through the middle free from the right, and then Tommy's got that license to move through the middle of the park trying to find pockets of spaces.

Speaker 17

In the first half he did have those chances.

Speaker 23

Here he is now making a slashing running behind, picked up by a guard on top of.

Speaker 17

The box that rodriguets a good little.

Speaker 23

Blind past towards the end, lining goes towards shallow we clipping with his left foot, bounces through, collected easily by step and Fry.

Speaker 17

And so a brad.

Speaker 23

Let me ask you a question. Peter Booms has made his moves. Now play on the front foot, attacking players are on. It's Brian Schmidtz looking at his bench. Now, what are the type of moves that he could make?

Speaker 24

Yeah, you know, I think with a two nothing lead, I think you gotta be careful of Reid. I don't think he'll see too much action, but as sport of Kents City starts to come forward, he might be put under pressure. When you think about making a sub for him, I think you bring.

Speaker 2

I don't think you make too many subs.

Speaker 24

I think at this point if you can save Pedro's legs and get him to Wednesday and have him start and give him a couple extra days, I think that's the better move because today's Sunday, right, you really only get two days of prep. But as I look down the bench, I think, any of those guys you can really bring in and get a minute. If this thing gets extended, you know, to the seventy seventy fifth minute mark, I think he'd let these guys do the job now and get to that mark, and I think that this

game should be put to bed. But if Friefa's going to provide challenges for the Sounders back line, he's much different than a Palito. Palito's gonna drop back, come, win the ball and knock it off a freefas more of a slashing type player who's going to battle for every single ball.

Speaker 2

And that's a tough one.

Speaker 23

What comes in strike by Alex Roldan off the toe of I think it was Tommy or Vola dare was Vola deck goes over the end line.

Speaker 24

And Agana is the same type of player, right, He's going to be that big, bouldering forward that's going to provide challenges and he saw it actually when they had that last weight. We talked about a four through three, but it almost looks like a four to two four and let the wingers do the work defensively, so four four two four two four in attack and put the Sounders under pressure.

Speaker 17

Sounders, you didn't find that third goal? Can they do it? Here?

Speaker 23

From the corner kick two arms up in the air by a Raznak on this right hand side of an outswinger with his right foot in it comes Jordan Mori's challenges again. It was his header in the first half that was saved by Melia the rebound who was put in the back of the net by Reagan, but Sporting case he cleared their lines and then Yemar just rolls it all the way back to step and fry nice and saved by the sound As goalkeeper keep as he launches it forward as Georgie tries to run around the corner,

pulls down light bold light bolt. He ses all that experience on that left hand side, just goes to ground kick for Sporting kc Well. Today's match is presented by Regions Blue Shield, the official health plam partner of Sounders FC is at Regents dot com. Today here in a sixty third minute Sounders to Kansas City nil. The score up that is presented by provident Swedish Jordan Morris has it gonna suntisfind that all important third goal. Often said, two nil nil lead is the most dangerous.

Speaker 17

Lead in soccer. We'll school on his soccer because one goal can turn a game upside down.

Speaker 23

Here's a guy a deflection off Jackson Reagan goes over the top. It's gonna be a corner kick, a first corner kick for Sporting KC in this second half.

Speaker 24

Like we said, those give overs, even if they're in the attacking third. Think about the mentality of the Sounders players. You have Jordan Morris on the ball and you think that he's an experienced player. He's gonna connect the next pass and get us out of pressure and be able to move forward as a group.

Speaker 2

And the Sounders get caught.

Speaker 23

Is Rodriguez is gonna clip it towards the back stick seton, Fry goes up, runs into it was a free for an advert collision between Frying and free for the suff that just came on, as you mentioned, made his Canadian national team debut geest Us and that USA.

Speaker 17

Lass and of course.

Speaker 23

So Richio Pochettino was announced this week with his press conference as the new US men's national team coach. Big appointment, former Southampton, Tottenham, Chelsea Paris and Jerman coach. Is he gonna be able to take the US to that next level which we all of course hope for the twenty twenty six feet for World Cup approaches, Walking quickly towards

shallowy sounders switched off for a split second. The ball was cleared up in the air, quickly thrown in with another ball by Sborn cac and it's over the endline.

Speaker 17

Corner kick. PC had got a little win in their sales right now, Brad Edmonston.

Speaker 24

Yeah, like you said, I think you make a couple of subs and all of a sudden the tone of the game can change.

Speaker 17

Just like that.

Speaker 24

The sounder is getting lulled to sleep on that one, and it's a quick recovery played from Yamar.

Speaker 23

Here's Rodriguets one army up whipped him with his right foot, low All bounced a right to Tommy strikes to his left foot, good block by rolled on. There's George. He just needs to manage himself. Rosero gets it fartside the right to Tommy with his right foot, whips it in, head it up and away by Reed. Got a couple of stubs getting themselves ready for the Sounders on the halfway line. Sounds need to see this one out clear. It's by Georgie's blocked out by Tommy.

Speaker 17

He's got the ball.

Speaker 23

Tries to wriggle clear of Alex Roldan with outside his right foot, good ball into rothrow clips it over his head. Tries to find Morris cushion headed by Shelton, finds Roseero outside of the foot given away to Alex Roldan, wriggles free or ever, tries to grab hold of his shirt, isn't able to it.

Speaker 17

Come the Sounders in transition down the left hand side. It's Paul Rothor his left foot whips it in.

Speaker 23

Good ball just to lose Jordan Morris skips through clayed by Voladaire and then Rosneck. You'll let it out, Yes, he is quick. Little throwby Gross you look for it. Referee stopped it.

Speaker 17

There's going to be the subs for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Jonathan Bell obvious likeful like switch will read Baker Whiting. He knew that was coming as he just dropped his head slightly. Good round of applause for the young man, and another start on that's left back position continues to grow as a player. Jonathan Bell comes on and then Georgie Menongo comes off.

Speaker 17

Good standing ovation for Georgie. Della Vega comes on.

Speaker 23

That's a standing ovation for Georgie.

Speaker 17

I think as much as anything, Crad appreciate type of player he is. Plays with a smileys face.

Speaker 23

And I gotta say, Brad, I listened to his conversation with the press last week or week before after he signed his contract, and I almost had a tear in my eyes, like what you want? You want these players who have great stories to come in and we'll get to your comments in a minute.

Speaker 17

But Sounders have it with barga stop of the Marx.

Speaker 23

Tries to find the far post goes high and wide. God Kate remains Sounders too. Candidates Kenna City.

Speaker 24

Neil, Yeah, I think you know Reid Baker Whiting will be the disappointed of the two. He's kind of hit himself in the foot by committing that foul early on. He's got to be thinking, man, if I just didn't commit that foul, silly foule. Just let the play develop and we're a good team to be able to defend. I don't have to make those fouls. Then I don't get in a situation where I have to be sobbed at home in the sixty fifth minute just because the coaches don't trust me to play a clean enough game

to close this one out at home. So another learning experience for Red. Otherwise a pretty solid game. He's not asked too much of too much to get into the attack and really create. They want him to play a little bit more similar to new who will allow Alex to get forward. So for him, it's about just getting good run of games. For Reid and being smart and staying consistent on the field. And like you said, Georgie's

story is something else. And to see him on this field, playing in front of the fans and to have a good game, right, I think we can be honest. He had a good game. Was it brilliant No? Was it anything other than great, No? But it was a good, solid game for a young kid. You couldn't have asked for anything more. And I think that he'll be pleased with it. The coach will be pleased with it, and he had definitely showed tonight that he deserves to be on the pitch, certainly.

Speaker 23

Brings something a little bit different if Paul roth Rock, who's just continues to play at higher level. There as roth rockets forces the tackle goes over the far side, the sound is left for a throw, and he continues to play at a high level, gets a goal today.

Speaker 17

He's played a couple of great.

Speaker 23

Balls in from the outside, and Georgie brings something very different even than Della Vega, just direct because this defenders all sorts of problems where you could be head down and run like that. But here comes Sporting Casey down their right hand side. They're attacking the goal to our left.

Little step over by Tommy back to a garden pressure by Jackson Reagan forced the ball back finds the foot of Tommy again on the right hand side, clips it in good block by Jonathan Bell, goes out ten yards or so from the corner flag on the far side. Sport a case throw in the sixty eighth minute time is flying so over twenty minutes ago of the nineties. Ball is cleared by the sound as they continue to lead. Here two goals and nail. As you mentioned, Sounders came in the seventh position.

Speaker 17

Coming into today's game.

Speaker 23

If they win and Britain this lead hit the three points, they'll jump to fifth position. Forty six points. From twenty nine games, five games to go.

Speaker 17

Three of those five are at home, next one being this Wednesday.

Speaker 23

Gagst San Jose, who are already eliminated from the playoffs, the only team in MLS all teams to be eliminated. It has been a poor, poor season for San Jose, of course, fired their coach Luchi Gonzalez, who had a good season last year. Continue to try to figure out things down there in the Bay Area of standing franchise. Of course, they've celebrated their fiftieth anniversary this year, as the Sounders did.

Speaker 17

Support of Kissey.

Speaker 23

Have it the middle of a part with Brazerra Sounders FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC.

Speaker 24

This is the press you want from the Sounders. If you're going to defend, your job is to make them go square or back. You don't give up anything in behind, and the Sounders have done that in the past six minutes that Kansas City seems like they've been on the ball. They've allowed them to have possession, but there's been no real penetrating passes. Just get touched tight, make them play back and eventually one of these KC players is gonna make the mistake and play the.

Speaker 2

Wrong ball and then off your goal on the counter attack.

Speaker 23

One case, delivering their possession, Joa Bell steps in rough Rock helps out who was a free through who just wriggled clear the deflection. The Sounders able to clean things up. It's gonna be a thrown on the far side supporting k C right six yards or so for the end line, right for the assistant referee. If your fisher has been busy in the first half, had to go to the munch A couple of times goal canceled pound to given Sounders could be up four nil going into the halftime break.

Had a couple of good, really good chances in the second half already as well. Jordan Morris the most guilty party blazing the ball over the top of a great ball by.

Speaker 17

All goes over the end line. It's gonna be goalkick for the Sounders.

Speaker 24

I think where things break down for Morning Kansas City or on the back forward, it's the inability to really create and keep good quality possession or any sort of penetrating pass out of that back line, and the sounder is doing a good job tactically of just sitting back and allowing them to almost play a long ball every time they pick it up. And they're just not technically good enough.

Speaker 17

They played by Dela Vegas.

Speaker 23

They'll drop of the shoulders, wriggle free off, followed down, then retains possession, finds the ball to rolled on in the middle of the park. Switch my Rusnak fast side the left john ofthan Bell stepping forward getting involved.

Speaker 17

There's the foot of roth Rock, no real support in front of him.

Speaker 23

Is gonna go through the legs of shelter, wriggles player towards the end line free if it comes back to help his right back. What goes over the end line goalkick.

Speaker 17

But again we've.

Speaker 23

Seen that happen boy a few times last couple of weeks, Brad, where Rothrock kind of clips the ball between the legs.

Speaker 17

Really got a ton of confidence right now in this game.

Speaker 24

Listen, it's really hard as a defender to negate that because you're todd as a defender not to go square on and that opens your legs up for a little nutmex So when as soon as you turn, you're like side saddling right. You get into that position, well you got to retreat somehow, so your left foot's crossing over

your right. And as soon as Paul Rothrock gets that ball on the outside of his right foot and brings it across his body, the only thing you're left to do is watch it go behind you and commit the foul. But luckily it takes a lucky for Kansas City, it takes a bad touch there, ball floats out of bounds. But you can see the supreme confidence from rough Rock just about on every.

Speaker 2

Occasion that he picks up the ball.

Speaker 24

And that's not what you expect from player like that. You expect him to be timid and just I can't loose the ball. I can't loose the ball, but obviously someone has pulled him. You have the freedom to go ahead and try things. If you're gonna do it, it's gotta be in the attacking half.

Speaker 23

Is Roduiguez coneicate for the sound, Well went over the top checks Vega took the took safety first, not to over the end line. Ball comes in in swinger was the back post, good headed clip bite.

Speaker 17

The sound is brought down by Rusnak's able to clip.

Speaker 23

It up in the air and away cushion head to bite Loi bolt foint. Tommy hooks it into his left foot. Good step by Yemas. Christian roll Done tries to wriggle clai If Rodriguez substitute in this second half, ball played by Alex rold On down the line.

Speaker 17

Jordan Morrison maybe needs to come in and support that.

Speaker 23

Clarence picks up ay Risera, who fumbles the ball with his left foot like a real central defender's touch.

Speaker 17

Right there is it bull the sideline we're throwing.

Speaker 24

But that goes to our point, right, if you don't have two center backs that are good on the ball, it really slows.

Speaker 2

Things down for everyone.

Speaker 17

Right.

Speaker 24

The ability of a player of that quality to hopefully be able to take a touch and connect the next pass has to be there, otherwise everything breaks down. And that's been Sporting Kansas City season this year so far. I think the front four and even when they make substitutes, are.

Speaker 2

High quality players.

Speaker 24

But if you don't have everyone on the same page with that ability to play consistently, it just becomes too unpredictable and you just can't get results in this league without it.

Speaker 17

As de la Vega the left hand side, I said that foot was more great.

Speaker 23

Paul into Rosnick, Fleck stays down, Paul goes in by ros Neck, Tan.

Speaker 17

Tornamos side netting.

Speaker 23

Eventually the assistant referees flag goes up, probably from the initial Rosneck opportunity.

Speaker 17

Oh By Jordan Morris couldn't hit the target with his left foot.

Speaker 23

It's going in case he get going really quickly, played the ball in Church Garda shrugged off by Yamo Casey asking for the foul. Peter Urmese continues to sit next to his long standing assistant referee, assistant coach Kerry Savagnin.

Speaker 24

I was just gonna say that in any other game that you watch Sporting Kansas City play, he's standing up and he's yelling for every single foul. Like I told you about the story earlier, when Peter Burmese parks the opposite way, you're gonna have a bad day. And if Peter doesn't get up and he's still directing or asking the referee for the foul, he pretty much knows that it's over with at that point.

Speaker 17

It's one of those things you just don't want to be in the way.

Speaker 23

But Peter Burmese, I'm sure when he's walking at the locker room, remember those days where.

Speaker 17

The head stays down. Don't look, I got down.

Speaker 2

It's like a cat.

Speaker 17

Stay away.

Speaker 23

I remember there's a youth player with a coach called Paul Heart, scary guy, and you see him coming down the hallway. You just dive into whatever room was to your left or right to stay out the way. He'd say good morning too, and he'd just starts screaming at you that it wasn't a good morning.

Speaker 17

Or goes into Jordan Morris. Can I get into hind Rosseera?

Speaker 23

It goes down, makes a good time to tackle Jordan Morris picks it up towards the end, I threw the legs of Roseera and knocks him off.

Speaker 17

Two fish ass for nothing.

Speaker 23

It comes over at Vargas his right foot, drops his shoulder top of the box, lays it out to Alex rolled On, rolls its square to his brother Christian. Out to the far left of Della Vega comes in his right foot. Look, drop of the shoulder, quick feet by Dela Vega tries to find the ball into Vargas, cleared by Sporting Case hooked up in.

Speaker 17

The airboy, Yeah, mar bounces through to.

Speaker 23

Melia here in the seventy fifth minute, fifteen minutes ago of the ninety Sounders lead to nil.

Speaker 24

What's just a little nutmeg from Jordan Morris there, just the up with the foot rolling, almost playing foots all out there, and the Sounder's starting to have some fun in the attack.

Speaker 2

They know Kansas City's not bringing too much.

Speaker 24

Like you said, there was a six to ten minute flurry there from Kansas City where they thought, yes, it's two nothing down. If we get one, we're gonna make a push. And then they sub off pretty much their dps and hope that they get something on the end of it. And that's one where now the Sounders we love watching these games, right and playing in these ones. When you got fifteen minutes left, you're up to nil, you're not feeling any sort of pressure, then you can

really start to play. And now hopefully we can see what de la Vega brings to this one, and guys can make relationships with him because you know that he's probably gonna take that extra touch every once in a while, and the player's.

Speaker 2

Got to be ready for that.

Speaker 24

But what a perfect little exercise to do that. But fifteen minutes left at home winning too nil.

Speaker 23

There's rough fox side. They left eighteen yards from the end line. Picked up a ball. It's a long ball. He's able to collect off shelter sweare ball by bell into Christian Boldon just kicks the ball away to look down Josh at Tenshi getting ready to come on. Let's give you the rest of that bench as attention gets ready to come on for Obed Vargas, understandable service. Vargas

comes back from international duty. Lath and still off the bench, Gouston, Row, Rudiaz still sitting there on the bench, Leo Chu, Andrew Thomas, Danny Lava, Dylan Tevez.

Speaker 17

But for now it's Josh Attenzio.

Speaker 23

He's gonna come on, got a couple of starts since his return for Olympic duty.

Speaker 17

He's gonna come on the field and plays for Vargas.

Speaker 23

Lightful like switch Rotensio and Vargas.

Speaker 17

Looking down on.

Speaker 23

The touches in this game, I think it's speaks to one of the games bit Jackson Reagan sis on the most touches of any play with seventy. Right behind him is Yea Mark Gomez Andradi with sixty seven touches, Jordan Morris with nineteen.

Speaker 17

So that speaks to the type of game as bit bread Well.

Speaker 24

You just imagine a world where you have your number ten taking fifty sixty seventy touches in a game. I think that was Nico's biggest quality was that he had the ball the majority of the time. We knew our job was to get him the ball, and when the Sounders figure that out, I think it could be a

very very dangerous team heading into playoffs. But you can't go into the playoffs having both your center backs as the most having the most touches on the team, And man, what a dangerous thought to just think if you if your center mid's got even half that amount of touches in a game, or your striker right, you're doing something right.

That means that you're possessing the ball higher up the field, and ultimately that's what you want to do if you want to win games, not just to nothing, but five, six and seven.

Speaker 2

It's possible in a game like this, you.

Speaker 23

Think on the sound as well, played out of pressure, bull goes in behind Jordan Morris.

Speaker 17

Simelia comes and he stops. Got a chance, ball goes across. Bull bats around just right, Jordan Morris, look for Ross roll command on that blind side. It took an inflection, narrowly went by into the post.

Speaker 23

It's gonna be a corner kick for the sound as they get it going quickly, sporting Casey slowed to get back and to Russak inside the book says Ryan Foote Roth can support.

Speaker 17

Sounders aren't able to get that met up. Bull comes into Jordan, flicks off Jeorde's left foot.

Speaker 23

You know, roll towards his nails, said to Lloyd Bolt pressure byolet rolled on, goes inside to shallowis and they gonna build.

Speaker 17

Out the back.

Speaker 24

Well look for this one from Jordan. It's the same thing as Paul Rothrock. Your first thought has to be how do I get to goal to commit the goalkeeper to come out. Anytime the goalkeeper comes out, it's always on a slott it between the legs. That's your last opportunity is to slot it between the legs. But instead you slow down, you take a slow touch. You think you want to pass it. You have to be more

selfish in that situation and go to goal. If you're at number nine, everyone on this field is expecting and in in the stadium that you're gonna take a touch and bring out the keeper. If he comes out, all you have to do is drag the ball and commit a foul and then it's a p kayfert. But if you don't do that, you make it easy for a defender to recover and make the play. Because Tim was caught in no man's land. You saw him two or three times?

Speaker 7

Do I go?

Speaker 2

Do I stay? Do I go?

Speaker 24

I killer instinct to put the ball in the back of the net. He'll be wantting that one back.

Speaker 23

Fifteen goal old coup goals for Jordan Morris this year is most of any seasons. Pass is that of twenty sixteen, which was his first season as a sounder.

Speaker 17

I think he was actually sporting KC. Was his first game he.

Speaker 23

Had chance that twenty third minute I believe to put the ball in the back. Then that first game of his career lays it over the top. It took him a good number of games to find that first goal once he did.

Speaker 17

A really productive first season.

Speaker 23

Continues to try and catch Ral Ruediez for all com goals and that lead ral six on eighty six Jordan at one. Of course, Stephan Fryes sitting on second all time of clean sheets with Kevin Hartman one hundred and twelve today. If he retains this clean sheet, he'll go to number.

Speaker 17

Two all time. Is from Jordan.

Speaker 23

Morice tries to cut it around the corner inside the box. Comes off when bollidair came across God defended by this morning KC.

Speaker 17

Defender's gonna be a corner kick.

Speaker 24

In that situation. That is the right play from Jordan. The defender's coming across. I'm away from goal. The only option is to lay it off. I'm just imagining in my mind watching Arsenal of Old and if Tierryan Reeve was eight yards out from the goal and the keeper was coming out, he would smash that ball as hard as he could and no one says a word.

Speaker 23

It comes rising entering of his right foot right at the top of this six, headed up and away and over the top by Yama couldn't get his head down.

Speaker 17

It goes over the top of the crossbow. Will be a goal kick.

Speaker 23

Here in the eighty first minute, Sun continues to.

Speaker 17

Beaten across the top end of the stand as we look at it, pitch pretty much bathed in shadows.

Speaker 23

Now perfect day for soccer here on a Sunday afternoon. The Marina has played next door at one thirty.

Speaker 17

Apple Cup was here.

Speaker 23

Yesterday next sports weekend in Seattle, finished up by the Sounders here.

Speaker 17

On this Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 23

As the ball goes to Cephron Fry as the Sounders build out of the back with Roaldan on its near side the right little flicking side to Yama, sound is.

Speaker 17

Looking for that third goal to really put.

Speaker 23

This game to bed, and don't one to give sporting case a sniff here As it all goes into a tensi on this right hand side in front of Brian Schmitzer and his bench, We'll cut back to Alex rolled on all over the top to Della vegga can he get it?

Speaker 17

As Voldek comes across, holds his ground, Clave does get it.

Speaker 6

Great ball.

Speaker 23

They'll flick to Jordan Morris low one two strikes it over the top, had a chance from sixteen yards out. Great play by the sound decided from Dela Vega on this right hand side, A little flick around the corner of my rosneck initial block shot by Morris, had a chance to follow up, lays it over the top, go kick.

Speaker 24

Well, now you get a glimpse of Pedro de la Vega.

Speaker 2

That's the interchange.

Speaker 24

He starts as a number ten there almost inside a tenco comes out wide and then it's a little clipball in behind and look at this first time pass back on an angle, just what you'd expect, a little flick. The Sounders having some fun out there. Jordan'll want that one back too. I try to get that one on frame, but Jordan in the right spot and the Sounder is just applying constant pressure now in this one.

Speaker 23

Sporting Casey all over the place right now as they try to get himself back in the game. Burmis continues to sit on the bench, as bred Edwards mentioned, and probably resigns the fact that sound is all on top of that his team. Right now, on the right hand side corner of the eighteen yard box, of the right foot of Alex Roldan, headed clear by the back line of Sporting Casey finds attent to your drills. It across cut out well by Shelton as a free foot takes

off down the right hand side. Rosa looks turn around the corner inside the eighteen yard box and short. Peter Burmese does not want to see that, nor did Peter Burmeis ever do that.

Speaker 17

His playing career as a central defender.

Speaker 23

As Jonathan Bill kicks a Walloway cheap and good quick ball by Rodriguez breaks the lines into a guard, a comp and turn out of pressure. Whatss head in his hands? Sounders have it with Reagan adds to his touches. But sound as FC, sound as fans. If sound as FC spores anytime after the eighteenth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to win free Lasik surgery from sharp Vision, Modern lay, sick and lens. Sign up today

at sounds FC dot com slash laser focus. In the fourth minute Sands have a foul, they lead to nil. A score up date is presented by Prominent Swedish And I've been.

Speaker 24

So impressed with Christian rolled on tonight, just his ability to move around different positions. He's clearly the leader on this team right and especially when he plays in the middle of the park. He has a presence in there that no one else has and it's such a luxury to have. Yes, you got JP's got a calf injury and to be able to plug in an utensie, Old Christian or Obed and just rotate through almost four players.

I don't think there's many teams that can plug that many players in and at a number six or a pivot position, and whenever Christian steps in there, it's like the team doesn't miss a beat.

Speaker 2

In fact, they might even be.

Speaker 24

Better with Christian in that role as the team moves forward. If Pedro gets fit, you might see that moving into the playoffs. As Schmitzer starts to think, what's my best lineup going into the playoffs? Do I need my more experienced guys on the field or do I want my youngsters on that have the legs for days? It could be a tough one to take off any one of these players that have played so well the majority of this season.

Speaker 23

Rand applause for Albert Rosneck. Fortunately couldn't add to his goals from last week, missed the pek in the first half, but an influential throughout the game. Danny Laver's Gonna Come On continues to press the sound of staff and practice at the time he's had on the field. See if that's a lightful like switch if Danny Labor will sit in that number.

Speaker 17

Ten year old De la Mega continued to play the outside for now.

Speaker 23

The Sounders defend a free Kickers rolled On clears his lines down the line.

Speaker 17

It comes Danny Labor.

Speaker 23

Voltaire comes back, defends well, Bore bounces right in front of the case bench to a free for who able to collect or gets cleared long.

Speaker 17

As Emilia picks it up on the.

Speaker 23

Far side the change force board in case Vargas on the field is going to confirm the change for them. Shelter plays then to Tommy, what's the outside to that man vark has scored the winning goal in their last appearance.

Speaker 17

Here at new midfield.

Speaker 23

Winning goal that two to one win or comes back to Lbold clips it towards the back six that man Vargers picks it up towards Bello, defended by bell In for Redbaker.

Speaker 17

Whiting in the second half goes over the end line to be.

Speaker 23

A corner cape four k C And here in the eighty sixth minute sound As lead two nil.

Speaker 17

Don't leave us at the end.

Speaker 23

Of the game, Jackson felt Kellen Rope if we'll be back to break it all down, and we all.

Speaker 17

Hope there will be a three points. We'll push the Sound as the fifth position more comes in.

Speaker 23

Sounds have to defend all bounce around, strike by a free for a good blockben of Sounders and Jackson Reagan who clears his lines.

Speaker 17

Tommy plays it out given away cheaply.

Speaker 23

Sound has now transitioned Rothrock down the left hand side, Danny Labor and support square Rockrock tries to step over good play by roth Rock is going to be a throne for the Sound in the far side the left get the Sound as a chance bread Evans to burn some additional seconds off the club.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 24

I think the Sounders at this point have this one in the bag. A couple of four ways into the attacking half for Sporting Kansas City, but just not enough quality on the field to really challenge. And you can tell the mentality and the heads are down for Sporting Kansas City. It's a team that just wants to get through this one and hopefully just focus on that Open

Cup final. Like we said, the Sounders with four open cups and Sporting Kansas City with four, so they put themselves in a position to capture that fifth one and surpass the Sounders. Now that hopefully the Sounders will go thirteen and twelve and have a leg up in this competition in the head to head little battle. The look at the Sounders just knocking the ball around, having some fun and little shimmy shake, give something to the fans, make them happy.

Speaker 17

Yet the full house again today.

Speaker 23

We appreciate all those fans can continue to come out and support that team. And it is a perfect afternoon, a Sunday afternoon for soccer here to fight the traffic with the Marinus game as you mentioned, but Sales fans continue to support their.

Speaker 17

Team and their thousands.

Speaker 23

The ball gets played by Casey right out of bounds on this near side as.

It's gonna be a throwing for supporting cases. They continue to push and press, try to find some opening. As we tick towards the ninety minute mark, two minutes of regular time to go, we'll seal a the referee aanes On he did add on seven minutes in the first half. Still try to figure out where he got seven minutes

from us. A couple of VR checks but no real injuries to speak of.

Speaker 10

Here.

Speaker 23

They come on the right hand side of Sporting KC with Vargas challenged by Jonathan.

Speaker 17

Bell, just holds up the ball well, good patient.

Speaker 23

Defending by Jonathan Bell. Sounds looking to see this one out as they try to creep up that Western Conference standing solidify their playoff spot. Can they earn that home game in the playoffs in that first round? Proper nave de la Vega, who continues to find fitness and form coming back from a flurry of injuries he's experienced this season, but hopefully the resilience that the La Vega can show in the coming weeks will be representative of how the

Sounders hopefully will continue forward getting results. The game in Vancouver on October second, Vancouverer just below the sound in sixth speight and sixth spot with forty five points. Sounders currently sitting on forty six. If they earned this three points tonight, Sanders fans boom boom, clap. You always know when the Sounders fans doing this things have gone well. They retain possession now or goes into Della Vega's getting a little bit of a runout look around the corner.

Sounders just managing the game professionally now as they continue trying to see out this game.

Speaker 17

Brian Schweitzer has always.

Speaker 23

Spoken about trying to find fifty five percent possession is the key. Sitting on fifty two percent today, Aaron pass by Bell just skips by Rothrock. But Brad job done for the Sounders. They got their two goals, could have had it to in the first half, even in the first fifteen minutes the second half, but managed to see this game out quite comfortable.

Speaker 17

Yeah.

Speaker 24

Look, I think at the beginning fifteen to twenty minutes a little bit shaky Swart in Kansas City.

Speaker 2

We knew had to come out and get a.

Speaker 24

Result, and when you're not able to put the ball in the back of the net away from home, it gives a little confidence to the home team. And then the Sounders settled in and they were able to pick up two in the first half. Should have made it three and job done in the first half. But credit to them for coming out and continuing the pressure creating chances. We've seen the Sounders go into a shell before when winning two nil, and they didn't do that tonight. They

smelt something different. They had that confidence to get forward, whether that's personnel on the field or if it's a talk from coach at halftime that we got to keep on pressing. The Sounders took the job, did it well, got it out of here with three points in sporting. Kansas City will be disappointed with the result tonight, but at the end of these games, it's always good to get the guy who's coming off of injury or might be your big player, to get him as many touches

as possible. I always remember trying to find that player so that they could just get into a rhythm and show what they do so well, and Pedro will be happy just to get his legs stretched, get a couple touches and then get into Wednesday night.

Speaker 23

There is that Mendelavi comes back to help out is back floying keep his possession seven fight inching towards that one hundred and thirteen clean sheet mark which should put him scond and all time on his own, currently sitting tied for second with Kevin Hartman with.

Speaker 17

One hundred and twelve.

Speaker 23

Of course, one of your own all teammates got honored before the game in Maro Rozales.

Speaker 17

In our fiftieth anniversary celebration.

Speaker 23

Continue to showcase and celebrate one alumni per game per home game.

Speaker 17

Today was Marrow.

Speaker 23

There's another legend in MLS sitting on the Sounders benched Precky. They mentioned he played for Sporting Casey for nine seasons, top goalscorer and assist leader for the club seventy one goals, ninety eight assists during his time in Kansas City. Pretty remarkable career in the Sounders assistant coach, it's free for hazard drops a shoulder, Sounders.

Speaker 17

Just defending Seph and fright back in the sticks.

Speaker 23

As we mentioned today Andrew Thomas did a solid job last week. It's an important saves in that first half, and then things got comfortable for the Sounders as the put four past the Columbus crew and they were down a man in that second half with an outfield goalkeep outfield player going gold, it comes Tommy top of the bucks well, ricochets of Christian rold On all the way through to Stephan Fryk and Drew Fisher just holding up player it.

Speaker 17

I don't think it's calling a foul. It's just gonna allow Tommy to get up.

Speaker 23

And I think it's that part of the game where referee doesn't have to stop it because of an injury. But I think everybody sees the game kind of taken away with thirty seconds to go.

Speaker 24

But the bigger point is you've got a minute left in this one. At any point the Sounders can lay off the gas there, but then you got Christian rodond sprinting back to get in in the way of Tommy. Look if he takes a touch here, Christians nowhere around. Tommy can smack the ball from anywhere and he hits it unlike most players in this league, where he's got that up and down shot, almost like Christiano Ronaldo with the ball dips up and comes down with no spin

and he's center goal there. Yeah, it's already ninety second, ninety third minute and probably nothing happens, but it's that willingness. Everyone on the field sees it too, and they gotta know, Hey, we gotta get out of here with.

Speaker 2

A two nothing win, as they do now.

Speaker 24

Stephen Fry gets a clean sheet.

Speaker 23

Jomp done, job done yet, Joy Fisher puts the whistle twist mouth brings this game to an end.

Speaker 17

It's comfortable in the last twenty minutes for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

They could have added to it, but it was the first half where the damage was done. Jackson Reagan in the nineteenth minute off a deflected saved headed by Jordan Morris put the ball in the back. From there from a corner kick and there was Paul Rothrock finished up a good move from the Sounders in the fourteenth minute put them up to nil.

Speaker 17

They had a chance to add to it.

Speaker 23

It was a miss penalty by Rosneck, but it's gonna serve them well to move forward to Wednesday in San Jose and 'red good final thoughts.

Speaker 24

Yeah, well done, well done by the Sounders tonight, and I think it was a professional performance.

Speaker 2

They did what they needed to do.

Speaker 24

They leave the fans going home happy, especially at the tail end of this season. As soon as you accumulate these wins, it becomes a habit, just like losing in so yes, you win in different ways. You go to Columbus, it's a four nil drimming of Columbus, and then you come home and you gotta work for it. But a matter of fact is you put the ball in the back of the net and that's all people are gonna remember.

Speaker 2

At the end of the day. And it could have been five to six.

Speaker 24

Nothing at the end of this one if it wasn't for some defensive effort from Kansas City and some pride, but well done by the Sounders. You head into Wednesday, and that's got to be another must win. Like you said, a team that's out of the playoffs already, you gotta be smelling something there to climb up that table and make life difficult for.

Speaker 2

Those above you.

Speaker 23

Yep, two clean sheets in the last two games, eight clean.

Speaker 17

Sheets on the season for Stephan Fry, one hundred and thirteen clean sheets for.

Speaker 23

That man, Stephan Fry in his MLS regular season career, he bypasses and surpasses Kevin Hartman and sits second all time in MLS standings.

Speaker 17

So congratulations to Stephan Fry continues to play at such a high level.

Speaker 23

We're glad to see him back in the six after missing out last week due to injury concussion protocol, and that result today pushes Sounders up to the Western Conference down some things.

Speaker 17

They currently sit in fifth position. Well, thanks for everyone involved in today's broadcast.

Speaker 23

Terry Ryan here in the booth and as hearstback of the board, Keeley Dunning, Ryan Karant, Kevin Cave of course.

Speaker 17

To Michelle Lucas.

Speaker 23

So great to have Michelle back on the sidelines. And then it's a fat former Sounders legend and let's just say current Sounders legend, Brad Evans. We'll see back here on Wednesday when the Sounders returned to Lumenfield for a midweek game versus the San Jose Earthquakes, and the Sounds will be looking for an additional three points to continue to push themselves up those Western Conference standings.

Speaker 17

But for now we'll take a short break. Jackson Felts, Caleen Rowe and Pete fewing, We'll be back to break it all down.

Speaker 2

The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now.

Speaker 8

It's a final from women field, your Sounders beating Sport in Kansas City two to nothing. It's the one hundred and thirteenth career regular season shutout for mister Stephan Fry.

Speaker 2

Let's go down on the field. Michelle Lucke is with Steph right now.

Speaker 17

Thank you Jackson.

Speaker 25

First of all, Steph, so glad to see you back out on the pitch. I'm glad you're feeling better. Congratulations on the win today. What did you like from what you saw from your team?

Speaker 17

I think we created a ton of chances.

Speaker 35

We scored some beautiful goals, even though when they got called back on all side. I mean, that's like a really nice set set piece, looks out of out of the training session. He looks like so it didn't work out, but still it's very encouraging to see all that, and we had so many good chances I think we were in a good mid blog today and we had our interceptions. It gave us a little bit of space to play

in behind and utilize our strengths. You know, we have some guys who have wheels, and I think it's very dangerous for opponents when there's space behind, and today we found a really good medium to exploit that.

Speaker 25

How important was it to start this final stretch, not even just final stretch in the season, but also this stretch of three matches at home at this point in the season off with a win in a big three points.

Speaker 35

Yeah, big, and obviously also against the team that always is up for it against us, so historically speaking, it's always been a fight. So very good performance. We said the same thing when we had the last three away games. You know, we wanted to start that on the right notes. I think we were in Minnesota and we did and then you know, we were able to get six out of nine there, and it's the same thing here. You

got to take every game one at a time. You can't look too far ahead, but it's important that you do well at home. And today we got the three points, great performance, clean sheet, a lot of positives.

Speaker 25

Moving up in the standings too. Now in fifth place, got to get up to that top four spots in the standings to get the home game in the playoffs. Obviously you're taking on San Jose on Wednesday. They've been eliminated from playoff contention. How difficult is it to come up against a team like that who will come in here essentially with nothing to.

Speaker 35

Lose, nothing to lose, and everything to gain in terms of they're playing for contracts, right, you have guys who might be like, you know, I don't need to defend. I'm gonna cheat a little, and so those games are very, very difficult. You got to be switched on at all times, and especially I think a team like us that we like to be in possession, We like to be in control.

You cannot be a lil to sleep and forget about the guys that are maybe cheating a little bit and are waiting for that opportunity to show that they can score goals. That's what we'll expect. And you know, there's parodieas league. And just because the team is eliminated, as I mean that they're.

Speaker 17

A weak team.

Speaker 35

Every team can win at any given moment, and we're gonna have to give them the utmost respect, that's.

Speaker 25

For sure, absolutely, And as we wrap things up here, a huge congratulations to you. And I know you don't ever like to talk about yourself and your performance, but I'm gonna make you right now, because today you moved into second sole possession of second place in the all time shutouts with one hundred and thirteen. There'll be plenty of time in your life and your career to reflect on all the amazing milestones. But right now, in this moment, what does that.

Speaker 17

Mean to you?

Speaker 5

Ah?

Speaker 35

I just I'm blessed, you know, to have been able to play for so long and obviously be part of good teams. You know, I think when you're younger, you shoutouts great and all, but as you get older and you're starting to climb in those numbers, you realize how fragile these things are. You know, even today, I think

we're playing a really good match. We're in control one tiny thing, and that shutout's gone, and and so it takes a whole eleven plus players to truly buy in and fight until the very last whistle to achieve these little things. And so I've always been blessed to have have those great teammates. I think early in my career when I had a really bad injury, you know, I took it to heart when people said I was injury prone. Look at me now playing at thirty eight. Still I'm

trying to prove people wrong. Keep playing for as long as I can.

Speaker 25

Oh, we love cheering you on, Steph. It's always a pleasure talking to you congradually on the huge milestone of the win and the big three points today.

Speaker 2

Thanks so much for the time. Thank you very much, Jackson, Thanks Michelle.

Speaker 8

Congratulations to Stephen Fry one hundred and thirteen all time. He's forty one behind Nick Romondo for first. We may never reached that mark, but second in a milestone mark for Stephan Fry here shut out number one thirteen in the MLS regular season. It's no surprise tonight's Toyota Man of the Matches of course, Stephan Fry reaching that epic milestone.

Your local toytoa Dealers are probably to present tonight's Man of the Match, and we welcome you into the postmatch show, Jackson felt Coleen roe Pee viewing here for the next half hour to celebrate a Sounders to Nothing win over Kansas City today, Callen Pete.

Speaker 2

Let's just get some opening thoughts here.

Speaker 7

We'll let me opening thoughts. How do you follow seven fry there?

Speaker 5

It was great?

Speaker 7

Well, yeah, isn't he such a good He's so good. Congratulations to Steph.

Speaker 2

I've played against him, He's made some incredible saves and kept that shut out against me. I have called him any names for it blocking me from scoring in my hometown a few times now. But you see his quality, His existence on the field just brings guys together. His leadership on and off the field. There's a reason he's still playing it there, he says. You know, he takes care of his body. Obviously, he's a very good professional.

But his sense in the locker room, his sense in the field, his quality and leadership everywhere in this league is well known and well seen. So congratulations to Steph. Number two is nothing to be you know, scoffed at number two on the paper, but number one in our hearts.

Speaker 10

Right.

Speaker 3

Well, I'll tell you what, He's a leader and I love that interview. Michelle did a great job bringing that out and then his honest answer, because a lot of times guys in that situation will deflect and say I was lucky, but we all know he's worked hard. He came off a real nasty injury when he came just before he got to us from Toronto, and then he's right at thirty.

Speaker 5

Eight, you know, to still.

Speaker 3

Be in this kind of form is very impressive.

Speaker 5

And he understood. Here's what I like. I think he appreciates the moment. It's not about him in his mind, it's about going forward as a team.

Speaker 3

But uh, Michelle, like I said, did a good job and asked him the right questions.

Speaker 5

But that's a huge milestone.

Speaker 3

And Nick Romondo, I loved watching him play.

Speaker 5

Over the years. He had about a twenty year career.

Speaker 3

And and that's a that's a great company to get. You know number two too, so that's great. I look at the game tonight, it could have been five or six. You know, we got four against Columbus, and I get it they had a field player that yeah, I get that, but uh, but there was a lot of great chances. We talked about the wing play being important today before the game, and I thought both sides right and left were very dynamic and dangerous. And you are a big

fan of Paul Rothrocks. That's the fourth time he's mag somebody in the corner. And you know the first time he did it, uh, you know, I kind of thought, oh he was kind of lucky there, But I don't think that anymore.

Speaker 7

He's tried that on me once.

Speaker 5

How did it go?

Speaker 7

He was on the floor. Good for you, but so was I.

Speaker 5

That's the problem.

Speaker 7

It hurt me more than it hurt him.

Speaker 3

Yeah, but don't take that from those young kids. But he but he is so dangerous in the goal. And you know his celebration after this goal.

Speaker 17

You know it's the.

Speaker 3

Second goal, right, but he's maturing in front of us, which is really fun. I mean, he wasn't freaking out because he scored a goalie.

Speaker 7

And I love it tho.

Speaker 2

It was with Georgie, right, Georgia I got for getting his first start, the guy that just came into the team. He can already see him bonding with some of the guys, and I love that. The fact that he was going over to Georgie to have a celebration.

Speaker 5

Yeah, that's terrific.

Speaker 3

And you know it's great because people did that for Paul when he was coming in a Paul, I don't know, is he a regular now?

Speaker 5

Can we call him a.

Speaker 2

Regular Well, that's a good point of the conversation.

Speaker 8

And because obviously you know, Paul Rothrock finished off a really good team goal in the fortieth minutes and listening to the kid just keeps being a big contributor to this team.

Speaker 2

Whether he now has just a locked in starting squad. In terms of what our play of the matches, two good goals for the Sounders today, we will have to go over those. Watson, continue talking about how I think Pete's right. This game could have been much more than two nothings. So we've a lot to talk about here to on tonight's postmatch show. We're going to continue all the way till seven o'clock tonight, continue talking about this win.

Speaker 8

That kind of sets the Sounders up nicely as they have two straight wins, two straight clean sheets in this final stretch of the regular season, five games left. They're in fifth place right now. We'll of course talk about what's next. A lot still to get to here on the postmatch show. I will also tell you that Sounders e f C Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Speaker 8

Welcome back to whom and Field, where the Sounders took care of business tonight against Sport in Kansas City, a two nothing win here tonight, Hey when that saw goals from Jackson Reagan and Paul Rothrock, who gets it signed for our armond Queen Casino Play of the match. It's going to be the second goal that came off of the kid Polly prime time scoring in the fortieth minutes.

Speaker 23

Boll goes on the right inside hits the back of Rothrock's able to retain possession.

Speaker 17

Has it now one of the eighteen rolls.

Speaker 23

Towards the endline towards rolled On, who clips it towards us that top of the box to as a tea up a short his left foot brings it down.

Speaker 17

Quistion roll Don flips it back.

Speaker 27

Squet headed guys WI come back to the nat assistant where prize.

Speaker 9

Black is not up.

Speaker 17

Sounder celebray and his rough Rock who adds again to his.

Speaker 29

Tally for the season, continues to impress and he puts the Sounders.

Speaker 2

Up to nil.

Speaker 8

And the play of the match is presented by Emerald Pin Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest, and he says the flag stays down because sixteen minutes earlier there was a little bit similar play where it looked like the Sounders had scored, but it was rub off side and thus thankfully the second one was not and poly

prime time scoring again. And I think the question that leads us into callan row a pe fewing is Paul Rothrock just continues to, you know, get cold contributions and be big parts of these results over these last few months. Is his spot in the starting line and now completely solidified.

Speaker 2

Kellen, I'll start with you. I think going forward it is at this moment it's his to lose, right. I think he hasn't had a bad performance. He hasn't had his best performances every game, but he hasn't had a bad performance. And that's what's going to keep you on a field. And what I like about this goal was started from him too. It started and ended with his work.

Polly made a good run down the line, he found a way half of his back to bring it down, continued to play as the quote unquote big stars were making their part, he was making sure to follow it up.

Speaker 7

And that is something that a.

Speaker 2

Role player, a player like Paul, a player that is going to stay in this lineup, has to continue to do. If he doesn't continue that run, he doesn't.

Speaker 7

Get the goal, he's not on the field anymore.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I think he does keep the job. I think we know what you're gonna get.

Speaker 5

He is going to really work hard, never give up on plays.

Speaker 3

I think Brian Schmitzer said, you know that that this this season, when you're you're going through and doing a history of this season, Paul Rothrock will be one of the bright spots. And I think when the time the team was in the doldrums and struggling a little bit, Paul Rothrock's zest and energy and never give up attitude kind of lifted other players around him. Young Christian rolled On was like that in his early years. A bit of nihativity maybe, but still.

Speaker 5

In a great way.

Speaker 14

Relentlessness.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that's a better word. And I think I think Brian appreciates what he brings now. If all of a sudden, Peter de la Vega goes on fire, I think Kellen's right, it's it's Paul's jubb to lose, right, But he is certainly, And what I love about him is whether his role is starting or coming off the bench, he's going to come in and give everything he's got and he contributes.

Speaker 5

He's he'll draw foul. I think he's got drawn two fouls for penalty kicks this seasons.

Speaker 7

It's not even just a bright spot anymore. In the season, he was a turning point.

Speaker 2

I think that good season because a good point when he did start to play, we did become that bright spot of the team. You saw the team lift and all of a sudden go through that summer run of what was it ten or twelve games without losing. That's something that brings the team together and also pushes them from a non playoff position now to fifth place.

Speaker 3

Right, and you've seen that a little bit with Georgie, right, and that everybody gets excited for that kid on the field because he brings some energy and it does not quit.

Speaker 8

Let's talk about Georgie because he does get the start in this team, and he does go sixty six minutes before being taken off for Pedro dala Vega.

Speaker 2

Weig got opportunity for the kid. What do we think of his performance going overall? I think he's gonna be happy with his performance. He created a lot, he did some good things. He's got a lot to learn, still still a raw young player, but I thought he did well. I mean I remember my first five minutes the ball, first pass I ever had underneath my foot, and I didn't remember the first five minutes of the game. This

is actually in San Jose back in twenty twelve. Don't worry about the year one coach, But I think Georgie came into himself a little bit. He started to get used to the physicality of having someone on his back and receiving the ball from a ya Mar with multiple players around him. And then you saw his bright spots when he got towards the box and he didn't.

Speaker 7

Even look up.

Speaker 2

He's going, I'm going at this guy, and that's what he's on the field for. Create something from the outside. Can you take a player one on one? If another player comes, can you find that open player? And I thought he did a really good job of it. And as we continue to watch Georgie grow and you continue to see the players around him, every time he messed up, they were always on him like, hey, good job, do it again, Yeah, no fall from us, do it again.

And I think that's something that's going to bring a young player into this team and create more possibilities.

Speaker 3

I think he's not afraid to take anybody on and he's proven he can beat people, running right at them and getting in.

Speaker 5

You know, he can tight rope along the touch line.

Speaker 3

He is very strong physically and then with his pace, it's another dimension that teams will have to look at and say, hey, if this kid like Jordan Morris, right Jordan Morris and go over the top.

Speaker 5

If there's a high line.

Speaker 3

So it's just a little bit more quality and the final product, the final pass.

Speaker 5

But I think he's going to be a bright spot for us as.

It's the Marketers Report Today. Kate Cronin, Chief brand Officer of Maderna tells us about the advantages the speed of audio production affords their growing tech company.

Speaker 36

At Maderna, we have a mindset saying that we pivot fearlessly, and I think with audio you can pivot fearlessly. You can go where the news is and bringing in content that perhaps you didn't have a few weeks earlier. It's less six months in advantage or three months in evans.

When you do a TVC you're able to create really nimble content, which I think in this day and age, and particularly at Maderna, where we have new information coming out on a regular basis, being able to feed that information to the audio format.

Speaker 35

Makes being nimble and pivoting easy.

Speaker 8

To the postmatch show from Woomenfield, where the sun is setting on the stadium in Seattle tonight and the Sounders have won a game two nothing over Sporting Kansas City. Can I make any other with s while in this sentence it is a very good evening here in Seattle as the Sounders move up to fifth place in the Western Conference with three points five matches left in the

regular season. Will of course spend some more time talking about what's ahead for the Sounders in our final segment of the postmatch show coming up in a few minutes, I will mention that this season, when the Sounders win, they have won today and you had to win tomorrow. So you can down to the McDonald's app and redeem your free nick Chicken tomorrow with any purchase of two dollars or more at your local owned and operated at McDonald's restaurant. Down to the McDonald's up today and check

out the deals waiting for you. I want to talk about the midfield for a couple seconds, and for Albert Rusnak, I mean we were talking off the air. You know, this is the last year of his contract. Hopefully we see him back here next year.

Speaker 2

That would be great because.

Speaker 8

Twenty one goal contributions in Major League Soccer this year, he obviously has added quite a few more through the league's Cup action. He's been great and today gets another assist on Rothrocks goal. Albert just continuing every single game, it seems, having a goal contribution.

Speaker 2

Hey, look, he's a top player and he's what he's brought in to do. He was brought in to take over that number ten if and when Ladero was to leave, which he has and now Albert has fully stepped into that role. And you see it continuously throughout this year. He is the guy that people are looking at when they well, we need to score a goal.

Speaker 7

Where is Albert? How can we find him the ball?

Speaker 2

And when he does have the ball, you see Jordan Morris running off, you see Paul Rothrock running off, even sometimes Christian Rolldon from a deeper position running off. And I think that's the quality that Albert brings, and the trust and the respect that he has from his other players.

Speaker 3

You know, it was said by whether it's coaches or players, he finally gets to.

Speaker 5

Be in the position that he wants to be.

Speaker 3

When Nico was captain and was here, he had acquiesce to Nico taking that spot right, and so now we're seeing him playing in his best position for his highest use, and he's he's now Nico's holds the club record of sixteen assists Rusnecks on thirteen mar Rizalez in twenty eleven,

twenty twelve, also at thirteen. I think he can tie and surpass Nico in the regular season, but we're seeing him being so much more dangerous, whether it's restarts, it's unfortunate on the penalty kick today, we could have used that. Timing wise, we could have used that as well, But no, I like what he's doing, and I think he.

Speaker 5

Looks to find Jordan Morris. He looks to spring wingers, right.

Speaker 3

He can be selfish as a player and he can be selfless as a player, and I think he's kind of coming into his own this season like he was before we got him at RSL.

Speaker 2

And I guess the freedom, right, He's run around everywhere, He's finding it, Stott, He's coming back to find the ball off of Jackson Reagan or a yay mar He's he's finding himself on the wing and just creating space. But like you said, he's looking for these players that are running off and he's not one to go and beat four or five players, put the ball and chip the goalie. That's just not the roofsnack that we're used

to and that we've seen. But he's such a good quality passer, a great shooter on the ball when he gets a chance to actually pop a shot, and like you said, the service that he puts in, Yeah, it's been incredible and it's why he's had these thirteen.

Speaker 8

He deserves an assist on the Jackson Reagan goal that Morris headed and then you got saved by Melia right that.

Speaker 2

That service to Jordan's head was pinpoint perfect.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and you know Fries our captain and then it would go Christian Roldan.

Speaker 15

Oh.

Speaker 5

Yeah, but he could easily.

Speaker 3

Albert could easily wear the armband and there wouldn't be a player that would doubt that.

Speaker 2

And I think it's the it is the respect that he gets from from the players and that he that he also puts out on the field. You know, when he does lose the ball, he's usually one of the first guys running back.

Speaker 7

That that's something you want from your star player.

Speaker 2

Yep, absolutely so. Will we have to take a break, But I will quickly mention while we talk about the midfield, Christian rolled on in the holding mid field. I agree with our producer andrews Hurst and I we were texting during the game.

Speaker 8

He this is his best position and partnered with Obed Vargas, he was great tonight.

Speaker 2

He ran on his butt off up and down the field.

Speaker 7

Over All, those two were so good.

Speaker 8

They were very very good tonight and Christian roll don I mean, this is where we see him at his best when he has the ability to go both ends. And Christian had a heck of a day as well, both he and Obed, and Obed of course came off the field as well in the seventy seventh minutes. So we'll see what Obed Vargas could give you in a Wednesday game. Because the Sounders we'll be back right here on Wednesday against San Jose.

Speaker 2

We're going to take a break and talk about that.

Speaker 8

I'll quickly tell you that Tells to Airlines is probably donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season through Ray Foundations One Mile, one Ball program.

Speaker 2

We'll wrap up the postmatch show and look ahead to what's happening on Wednesday. That's next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM.

You're listening to the home of Sounders FC. Clle's Sports Radio nine fifty KJR wrapping.

Speaker 8

Up the post that show Here on Sports Radio nine TIFTR, Am Jackson, Feltz Calera, Pete Fewing here Rockin' wrapping up a Sounders two nothing win over Sporting Kansas City.

Speaker 2

We're watching It's.

Speaker 8

A friends and family day here for Sounders FC and rain FC. As there is a two hundred plus people, even only three hundred people on the field here. Everyone can casino pitch at Luminfield, all having a great time. One hundred kids out here kicking soccer balls around, lots

of smiles. After a Sounders win today and a good time being had by all, this field will clear out again and be ready to go for Wednesday, because the Sounders will be right back here at Loominfield on Wednesday for a match against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Speaker 7

It will be a provident Swedish.

Speaker 8

Prematch show for seven o'clock and a kickoff of seven thirty. It will be right here on Sports Radio nine to fifty am. You know, so watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish like what John l Ray thirteen sixty and caln. That's one where I think Stephan Frice in his interview with Michelle earlier, that San Jose has been eliminated from playoff contention, but all those guys are still playing for contracts and that adds an entirely different motivation for this

game on their side. But we used to do this back in back in my day, where if you're eliminated from playoffs early or you had that extra time, you would take two weeks after the season ended, and that would be your time to either lose a contract or get a contract.

Speaker 7

And those practices were I don't know if you went to any of these coach they were mayhem.

Speaker 2

It was chaos because everyone was going as hard as they can. They knew that their life was either going to stay here or their career might be done. It was one of those unknowns that everyone kind of just put a little extra into it. And that's what this is going to happen here on Wednesday in every game that San Jose plays. Now, on the flip side of that, if you get on top of San Jose quickly, similar to what you saw here, it was the eighteenth minute,

nineteenth minute that we scored the goal. Here you see the deflation of this has been going on the whole season. But for me, this is now that I don't have to be playing and think game by game and I'm up here and I can actually look at the whole next five games that we have around. Everyone is around us in the playoff position. I think San Jose is going to be like a last preseason game before you need to turn it all the way on. I want to see not ten chances that are on goal and

should be goals. I want to see ten shots, ten goals. You need to have make sure that this is a final tune up before going into almost a playoff season. This has to be the last bit of the little rust that is continuing to go on because we're five games left in the season.

Speaker 7

These need to be goals.

Speaker 2

These need to be good at better tackles, These need to be easier saved.

Speaker 7

I mean, they needs to.

Speaker 2

Be a well rounded performance continuously, especially against teams that are no longer in playoff position.

Speaker 3

Yeah, a shutout, jumping on them really early and giving them no hope that they're gonna play They're gonna play loose. Yes, I agree with Steph and with killing that guys are playing for their contracts, their next ones. But there's no pressure on them for this game, right, So there's also they come in and sometimes that can make them play better.

Speaker 24

Right.

Speaker 3

But if Seattle jumps on them, and I'd love to see a four nothing game, I don't even like saying that, because the Sounders have to get one goal and then they can look at getting a second goal. But this is really a game based on how many goals San Jose's given up a little more clinical in there and complete would be a great way to get ready for the next one.

Speaker 5

So, but you can't look past them.

Speaker 3

Uh And, as as Steph said, there's such parody in this league, those guys are gonna come in.

Speaker 5

There's pride.

Speaker 3

You're not a professional soccer player and not have pride. You'll have a lot of pride when you come in.

Speaker 5

And you know Ian Russell's coming here. He's the interim coach.

Speaker 3

He's a West Seattle kid, played at the University of Washington. He's gonna want to do well for his team right when when he's come back home. So he played at Emerald City, right and uh so you can't look past him, but it would be great. A Scale insists that just have a complete performance, get the goals, get a shutout, and then keep going and then and then if you can get enough players, get enough goals, you can you can use your five subs to rest some bodies.

Speaker 7

Number of professionals.

Speaker 2

I don't like winning now, but I don't like losing a pickup game for sure, like losing a co ed Monday night.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I still get angry about that stuff.

Speaker 2

I mean, you think coming in to man you think that are coming into loom and I know they out of playoffs, but there's so much to play for because that that little bit of adrenaline, that little bit of a boost, that competitiveness of being a pessonal athlete being here. You don't want to get embarrassed, and so the thing that that happens is you make sure you go.

Speaker 8

Speaking of getting embarrassed, we totally said it's friends and family night. Brian Schenzer was just trying to defend.

Speaker 2

What might be a four year old. The four year old just went right around Brian.

Speaker 7

Brian's lost a step.

Speaker 2

He's sat on that bench for too long.

Speaker 8

It's maybe he's because he's wearing a suit, but it's it's a tough moment. There is a four year old just took a ball right around him, and he can't keep up with the two year old and the catch right now running down the middle.

Speaker 2

Of the field. He just can't keep up.

Speaker 5

Let maybe honestly that runs like his father.

Speaker 2

Used to run to expand on that beat. Well, he was going the other way around, was learning around here we go, can you can Brian get by him? Brian one on one with the two year old ten bucks of meghem on the right foot, he goes on the left, gets around him. Oh but it's a heavy touch and the ball is given away to the two year old's smart, two year old smart, he's making him run. Good tire, tire the old man out.

Speaker 5

You know that I'm disappointed with it.

Speaker 8

To tough scene, tough scenes for Brian Schmitzer. Great scenes for Brian Schmitzer on the field tonight as his team gets a two nothing win over Kansas City and it will be a challenge me two straight clean sheets?

Speaker 2

Can he?

Speaker 8

They make it three against San Jose coming up on Wednesday once again, Providence sweetersh premat show of seven o'clock kickoff of seven thirty.

Speaker 2

We'll have it for you right here Sports Radio nine through d KJR AM.

Speaker 8

We will rap with tonight's broadcast by telling you that Brian Schenzer was just scored on by the four year old, So good jock.

Speaker 5

Bryan does not affect the clean shooter stuff.

Speaker 2

It doesn't.
