Episode description

Zak and Brad are back to recap four points in two matches: first, an impressive 2-1 road win vs St. Louis, followed by a 1-1 home draw against top-of-the-table Real Salt Lake. The guys highlight Albert Rusnak's performances in both games, which included an assist vs St. Louis and goal on Wednesday vs his former team, RSL. Our co-hosts also discuss stand-out play from Reed Baker-Whiting, and why they see a bright future for the young midfielder.

You're good. You're my Michael Payne, my son. Yeah, but your backlit is held. I can't even see you. Yeah, I know I see that. Yeah, crazy. You like it. You like what? Like interviews of someone who's trying to hide their identity right now. A true crime. I mean, Brad just said he's gonna murder his mom and that's really good. I've been watching Hugh Crime docs all week. So I mean last night I played 11v11 out here.

And then came home and it ends at 10 and you're so you know, you're just amped up and me in the cat. He came in the room and so I don't think you'd ever seen like you can just YouTube like cat or sorry bird videos for cats. And dude, he stared at the screen for like 45 minutes and the bird just it's like high definition and then there's squirrels and he was like losing his mind. So he had a late night last night too. That's funny. Listen to this. Zachimani the blind winner. He's Brad Evans.

Steve Steve. Who is it? Brad Evans. It's not again. Happy days to hear again. Bernie with the private Steve Zachimani. He's an attacking Brett Brad Evans. It was so weird. Hey, what's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Sounders FC podcast presented by Toyota. And we are coming to you the morning after what ended up being a disappointing evening for the sounders.

Son of a home to Salt Lake. It was crazy because you know we know that football can be like that and we went from the joy and emotional thinking okay. There's the second ceiling goal. What an assist for read Baker White in just like missosie gets on a sport sheet. Perfect time to get the first time this season consecutive league wins all of that. And then VAR in my opinion correctly unfortunately ruled the foul. It just was 40 rep at a good game last night.

And then they go down to our friend. They've been doing this. I mean, they came back from Fino down this weekend. I know they're the combat against Colorado recently as well. It's a Salt Lake team at the moment does not know when they're beaten. And we'll talk about the goal in a second, but the thing that led me down was you're fighting for your life in that moment.

And they won two heads in the box got this shot and then we're also first to the rebound and that for me just comes down to hunger desire things like that. And they wanted it and Gomez gets in their scores and they go back, you know, I think they're 13 games on beat and now and the sounders drop two points again points of the worst result. But the home forms a bit concerning as well.

So we'll get into that and we'll back up May as well. I think there was a lot of how many games but in Cune Open Cup a lot of games in the last 30 days. The sounds of played and all in all it was a good month. It was a good month. Didn't end on a high, but it was a good month. Beamed to be heading somewhat the right direction. If not quite taken off.

So we'll look back at that as well. But just in general, your thoughts just overall bride in general on the result performance and sort of how the sounder should maybe be feeling this morning. Yeah, look, I think, you know, four points in two games, nothing to be disappointed about. Obviously last night's result. Yes, but St. Louis, you know, that was a massive result for the team away from home to in a gutsy performance.

I thought the team played well. So all in all, you know, four points in two games. I think we'd all be happy with that. But obviously last night's result wasn't one that the guys will be, you know, obviously super excited about super disappointed going into that locker room. But the St. Louis game I thought was, you know, I think we all thought was going to be, you know, stepping the right direction. And then you win on Wednesday night, the previous Wednesday night against Phoenix.

And off you're running to a break that's going to come this weekend now that the Columbus game has been rescheduled. So, you know, a gutsy performance away from home in St. Louis. You always know you're going to defend for, you know, the better part of that second half unless you go up three nil, then you're kind of cruising.

And the sound is kind of skated away with a clouds hitting the post with literally the last kick of the game. And then last night, you know, as I broke down that last goal watching it a couple times, replay, replay, replay. You know, you have Obed and you have a tencio that are the sixes. And when you really break that film down, I think they'll be disappointed that they're really four for four in the back and Obed and a tencio or nowhere to be found as sixes as that ball gets launched forward.

And it's that game savviness to know that I'm not pushing forward. I'm going to bring everyone back. I'm going to get nine guys behind the ball. And I'm going to let Musovsky chase up top and put a little bit of pressure on any of the center backs that are going to maybe potentially serve the ball. And it was yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. It was that disorganization at the very end of that game. And those are the this league is too good. Salt Lake's too good of a team.

And they're going to take every single chance and Salt Lake piled it on, you know, in the second half they had the better part of possession in the entire game. Overall, and the sounders are happy to concede possession in the second half a bit. And that's a good team, right? You bring on a wrong go as a sub and the game changes for them. He's that good of a player. And he lights everyone up on that team.

I do agree with you. It was a foul that Musovsky committed, but you know, if that's the case, the sounders are obviously often running to three points and those little tiny moments change, change game at this level. And the sounders just can't seem to, you know, get in a consecutive run of games where they're getting results.

You know, like Salt Lake has been able to do. So I think they're close. I think we all think that they're really close. And if you get two wins in a row, that's what propels you to the next level. Overall, you know, a pretty good game for the sounders, you know, light, light fan attendance on a Wednesday night. Mariners are playing in a big game. It's a rainy night, right? It's not covered like it is with the Mariners. You can go and stay dry and watch that game.

And, you know, I know that the fans turn out the, you know, the through and through fans and, you know, watching from afar. Obviously I was, I was here watching it on TV. But, you know, the sounders will still have some question marks.

You were there. I don't know what were what were your impressions. You know, I, I thought the first five minutes was sloppy. I mean, Reagan and knew who gave away some passes. I mean, it could have been down to no just from silly, silly giveaways that I don't know why the sounders continue to do that.

I get playing out of the back and I'm a fan of that. But we've been reasoned and Jackson, I can't enroll with us in the in the radio booth. And I asked him a heart. And I'm like, when you guys did possession and training, how was Jackson?

He was really good. Really good. But sometimes when you ask too much time to think, perhaps he dribble out of pressure. That's when he gets caught. And he's done that a couple of times. Now you got to go back to just what we saw a lot more last year, where it's simple. His job first is to defend and then in possession, then actual passes, get the ball to the other guys instead of trying to do a bit too much.

But for once a sound is settled, played quite well. I thought Jordan, maybe as active as a few in a very long time, lots of runs in behind, looks a bit dangerous. Christian continues for me. I think the month of May has been kind of him back to himself. He looks a bit more Christian.

This like Portland game was a turning point. I think for Christian. But you know, I think the game, I half time going in and we said, Danny Jackson asked me on the air, what's the state of the boys? I said, it won't be a rare respawn. Hey, five, 10% more everyone and we win this game. And I think that was pretty much what it was came out of half time, second half, started the second off really, really well got the goal.

Good clever play from our book and that free kick. Then I felt maybe a bit full of the gas, Salt Lake, but on you know around goal of the A dole. I'm guys you can make the game for them and they started to look really good. And I thought goldmills is one of the few players. I've seen take on new head for head like he wanted that challenge. And he was very, very quick player.

And he put in two or three really good crosses second half. And they came forward. I when I look at Schmezzer's serves, they're not questioning the service, but the person else. So Rudy as Christian Jordan and JP all went off. And JP went off in a 90 second minute, which I'm not sure if he's paid 92, why can't he go six more?

I don't know. And looking at those two sixes, I think JP's sitting back, but the question is is like, where are the center backs screaming at those guys? They have to look in front of them and realize that a tensio has been all the way pulled out of position.

Yeah, just sit. Get these guys back and sit in that low block. And I don't know if it if it's a question like you're saying of the sounders just want to know matter if it's 95th, 96 minute, we're going to pressure. We're going to we're going to win the ball and play out. Is it just youngsters? Is it that mentality?

Yeah, I don't know what it was. Yeah, I think you know, once I just felt once he got the goal, it was a case of wanting to really hold on. And it's almost then maybe wanting it almost too much in a sense, you stop playing and doing the smart things, you know, playing to the corners, keeping the ball into the space, giving people something to chase.

We kind of lost that a little bit. I felt on the end look, the you survived that last play, you leave there some massive three points, you're looking at a really good month back to back wins the cup run going well and the climb in the table, you took off a top team like Salt Lake, you have been this season.

And then now it's the opposite, right, because you didn't win a couple of challenges, positioning wasn't the best and credit to Salt Lake. I mean, so team that I thought second off was really good. And then Pablo must really took a bit of a risk with his rotation and it paid off for him now he has guys rested, they play Austin at home, never chance to for team games on beat and so that was a good team.

The more they won, I did a Q&A with the fans of some season ticket members before the game. Yeah, they were not taking it easy on us, it was some tough questions, but one thing that came up was I don't know the exact numbers, but the sounders have eight goals at home after last night. Five win one game against Montreal and I'm scoring at home, I'm not happy, I've watched it for years, I was a part of it for years, we would come out home and just blow teams away.

First 10, 15 minutes, one meal up and it was always like almost you never guarantee wins in football, but for a long time when I played at least, when I watched you guys playing after I stopped playing, I was felt a home game, nothing has to go wrong for us to not win today.

I was in the races or they were having an outstanding game, if not for that 2-0, 3-1, 3-0, it was always a win at home and it's been a long time since I felt that Lumen feel that when teams are coming here they're already almost beat and three goals outside of the Montreal game in all the home games so far, not getting a second goal ever really to put teams away.

I don't know if you're seeing any reasons for that or why is it teams playing us differently, what been better away from home than at home is my point basically. I think the hard thing for us is we are so invested in this team and as you said that question, I think that's a question that our reporters should be asking opposing coaches after the games, ask Pablo, why do you think you can come in here and get a victory?

Don't talk about your team, talk about the sounders and what you see in the sounders that you think that you can exploit. I don't know if the answer is this isn't the same sounders team as yesterday or I don't think it's an environment thing but when you do look at the stadium, I don't know from your view up top, did it look half full, did it look three quarters full with a ton of empty seats from what I read online, there was the lowest crowd since 2009 I think.

Is it an atmosphere or is it just purely a confidence thing where the guys just aren't getting off the mark. You still see some savviness, the guys just put arm put in the ball in the back of the net and I don't know I don't have an answer for you. I don't really know when I watch the team play, I do feel confident in this team and the guy at the front three that are up there especially. I don't know if I have the straight answers for that.

I mean because what we saw last night those guys who are out there the only guy you're really thinking you can add and really change it at this point is really Pedro when he comes back and it might be the key.

I mean, I think it's a very young bench and I would see like there's a rough rock and Cody and Reed and these guys there's a lot of potential there but you're not bringing on guaranteed proven game changes we're not having that whereas there was a time at this club where you're bringing on in a monago. Kenny Cooper chat bear it right veterans bringing on the lead yeah that's who's coming on to try and help you with the game that was it was.

So it's a bit of you know I think the bench is a bit thin that's what came to me last night and it's just to figure out why this team cannot unlock I think you said it a couple podcasts to go that the really really good teams now they do have that number 10.

I think for a long time people were spoiled here with me quite best where games like last night he might make that keep us he'll do something and then we'll suddenly turn one they went to 2 now and then you might go and get a further for gold and that's just not happening right now the goals in this team are very very thin and it's you know it's not it's not.

It doesn't it didn't feel like we get a second goal until the most sauce you want to go what called back with kind of came off a late transition with solid push numbers forward never really kicked on after our goal and felt like okay this is going to be a routine home victory we just haven't had those for a while and it's tough to figure out that exactly what it is but.

The last two games though at least Albert's come a bit alive I think he was involved in both of the cent Lewis and then sport really good I think keep up completely mature situation Albert call his bluff and cut around the wall and put a good free kick is he turning the corner in terms of because he's been good but now he has to really impact the sport she first of the season couple of assists at the weekend really.

Are you seeing anything he always is what he has been doing and now we're just seeing more things on a stat sheet. No I think you're seeing an Albert that's got a bit more so what's met said what was that before the Portland game maybe that he had talked Albert said that you got to take over right you got to take over the game this is kind of your team to run in the midfield and.

Maybe that's been the catalyst since that Portland game because I do think you've seen a bit more bite a bit more urgency a bit more creativity a bit more wanting the ball a bit more.

Wanting to create as well not just the creativity but the want to create right take some chances yeah I don't think any player on the field if you're playing out wide left if you're going to get picked out you know two out of seven times in one half like that's okay as long as the balls threatening in behind it's when Albert you know was playing more as a six where it's a bit more complacent now yes a play as a true 10 and really try to unlock things.

And that'll still be the next step for him as he evolves into that role it was great to see him get off the mark that's five assists in one goal for Albert so far. And now he's going to need more he's going to need 10 15 assists and three or four goals to be an impact player and really push us to the next level he can do it there's no doubt his his qualities is so high he never loses the ball is always in you know seeming to be in the right position.

And you actually saw him celebrate last night right which says a lot for him and that's a former team that you play against that you came from you're not you know whatever you show respect I don't think he didn't a way of taunting but it's good to see that emotion and get that one off of his back and you hope that that's a turning point for Albert as he you know pushes forward and and the guys will get a chance to get some rest and get their legs underneath them and and really iron some things out and you know hopefully get Pedro healthy enough to have to freaking play in a game sometime soon.

Which will be huge for us. I think moving forward as you as you especially as you look at the bench and a tough run of games coming up in the next couple weeks right go to Kansas City on the 8th that's always a tough one.

You know it's going to be hot and that's a team that's struggling you know they lose again at home and you got to smell the riding on the wall there what seren dipitus would it be for the sounders to go in there Peter's got maybe one more game the sounders beat them and Peter you know gets like go who's going to get the ball. You know gets like go who knows you try to write these story lines in the back of your mind and give yourself like some sort of confidence going into those games.

Yeah it's um you know we're not at the halfway stage exactly but this is a kind of a natural break in the schedule with a Columbus game that was rescheduled so we the sounders get the weekend off and you mentioned it's Kansas away when we get back it's a home game against Minnesota there's a trip to Houston who's been really good this year.

Dallas at home Chicago at home you England at home that three game stretch three games stretch is going to be that's going to that's going to make a break our season. Yeah at this point right looking at the schedule like those three home games are going literally going to make a break our season. Yeah you pick up those and it means to you that's that's the break before they go to the open cup against Sacramento.

So in terms of the table the sounders sitting 10th place 16 games played 18 points if you look at first place like that's 30 points 12 of that so support show top seed that's going to be very tough at this point but in terms of MLS is it's got to be said the generous playoff system you are looking at the sounders getting in most likely just with a few things but you're going on the road and I think at this point.

We've been a decent road team as you mentioned saying it's like we're actually been good on the road actually been you know gone to Philly I think it was and got the win. We want some of us and Lewis we want anyone in Portland so that's free wins on the road out of a four win season and three or so we're not going to fear anyone going on the road but I'm asking you this all. Salt Lake LA galaxy L.A.F.C. Minnesota Atlanta van Kuver could a road of Houston Portland all above Seattle right now.

Are there any teams I've just mentioned is that any team that we are in Salt Lake's first place I didn't see anything last night and we think this teams are beatable so that's what's frustrating the sounders aren't far off you're not playing teams that even these no play van Kuver couple of times you've seen them you know we played a galaxy.

I'm not seeing anyone that just out clusters is always been something we're not quite doing all this guy's missing all if we just that so is that anyone to stay in the west is that case it's time to make a run this can still really end up being a really special season.

Yeah I think you're right I don't think we played any team where you look at their starting 11 maybe you take one or two maybe three guys from a different team but it's there it's not the east the east is a bunch of runaways that are playing really good football and you know on the run but I think every team in our in our league is.

There in our conference is beatable it's just going to be I honestly think it'll be that stretch of three games and if you go back to 2022 right last time sounders didn't make the playoffs there was a run of games that kind of flipped for us that was July 9th where we lost three in a row and then one loss one lost lost

and that just ruined our whole season right there right it's those stretches where you get too many losses in a row and that's obvious but this is going to be the most pivotal time for this this team especially is right at the middle part of the season and that is going to be the back breaker but even looking at the upcoming schedule those are all winable games that's the biggest thing when you look at those three games at home those are all really winable games against average teams.

And you can't rely on that right you got to take him each game at a time but yeah there's no one that really strikes fear I mean everyone looks there's some solid teams but Vancouver was off and running and all of a sudden they're sitting they've dropped off right so every teams have is having its ebbs and flows and you really can't pick out like a sound really really good team in the west I mean LFC obviously is is top and always has been and I think that they're probably.

The best team in the west right now they kind of had a little bit of a slow start to the season but they seem to become alive and the adding.

I don't know if it's announced I think that adding she wrote one of the stunts announced yeah it's announced so it's it's going to be wild to watch that hold up play and he just adds a completely different dynamic I mean the way that they're scoring right now unbeaten in six or seven or something like that and just flying so yeah there's a couple teams that you don't want to catch up.

But you don't want to catch them at the wrong time that's for sure but last night's hours got to be ruined that that is the deflating result last night in the hundredth minute of the game. That's a tough one to swallow for the team.

It really was it really was in terms of the fans I think you know we touched and I think sometimes you have these mid-week games and it's tough people to get down to Seattle I think the Mariners were playing exactly the same time and I think then gets an invention that pro jam also had a big show.

In I think a climate pledge they were playing as well so there's a few events around the city but I felt as you know it you kind of look around during warm up your apartment nobody's here and then the game starts and it starts to fill up a bit more and actually those actually good atmosphere you know the first time I really noticed it was around the ridiculous shot. Yeah I know I was going to comment on that it was just like who thinks of that.

You didn't even look at the gold you didn't at any point look at the gold just bounce turn left for and it if that's on target keep it's a gold like it's just barely got a touch that's like inches from being a ball which would be ridiculous. I wouldn't go all the year probably yeah absolutely ridiculous so I think that's one of the crowd kind of came alive and they were just waiting for something to happen in the field something to excite them.

So a couple of things here we can touch on before we go because we are saying it's a thin bench I don't want to you know dog on those guys I think those guys have done really well beginning with all better Josh you had to carry a big load earlier this season with JP was I think those two you know what the socks of it's well.

I feel Cody Baker anytime he's coming is done really well but I really like read I like read Baker White in that's the one I a whole of them all better side that's the one for me and then that would be a system of sauce.

I mean that was brilliant from read really brilliant in this month of pay of me open cup they've got opportunities some of have opportunities within mds play which of these guys really things really put themselves in schmets as mine as in that guys reliable if I need to go to the bench I can go to that guy and not think twice.

Yeah look I think I think reads going to be a starter by you know in the next two months I think he's going to push and I think he should be a starter also I just think he provides so much going forward. And he can defend there's there's no doubt about it he is actually fast enough to defend pretty much every.

Winger in this league and he's young and he'll recover fast I think the sounders have to take a chance on him and plug him in now what will dictate that is the next run of the next five games are going to dictate it like I said those three games at home are going to dictate who's going to be finishing out the season if the sounders if he comes into a game and plays like he did last night but as a starter.

I think he'll be hard press to not have him on the field moving forward and if the sounders can get a result in Kansas City he'll probably see significant minutes in Kansas City probably as a sub but maybe 30 minutes 35 minutes because it will be hot guys will be struggling.

And then to come home for those stretch of games after going away if he has a good game at home as a starter which I think he probably should be plugged in as a starter at this point it will be hard press to keep him off the field.

If he can stay healthy and I think you know I think I see him as a left back yeah and just think he provides so much moving going going forward but honestly the kid can play anywhere you want to put him on the wing he can play on the wing so as long as he keeps pushing being healthy and makes sure that's his life difficult I think he will dictate how the rest of his season goes.

I find that was saying read read and I agree with you but all he's not been bad in time is played either so it's like Cody Bakers right there as well and he's not been at all he's done his job every single time I just think read is more comfortable on his left foot and playing left wing Cody every time he gets a ball takes a touch a touch on to his right foot and this doesn't seem as comfortable in an ideal world Cody would be playing as a right back in his mind.

He does he served in a couple of balls he's gotten assist to to Musovsky in the earlier parts of the season so I think he's more comfortable on the right I just think stability wise it's reads position out there for the future.

And then that would be a question I want to ask you on that as well Alex wrote on because he when he broke free so he came in took out Kelvin Leidam I think it was who have been very consistent very reliable there was no real issues and Alex came in and made the spot he's on right from set in midfield so I'll play right back and provide us at the time such an offensive threat right he's delivery is crosses we're not seen as much of that this year where he's getting to the final third and really whipping balls in and being involved the part of the attack and part of that is a

byproduct of the team not being in those positions that often we're not really pinning teams back and wouldn't pose into the box and just chance of the chance a part of that.

Does he need to be pushed in a sense does he need to kind of going to training thinking if I don't train well I won't play always the idea right now because he right now is pretty much slightly and as a start up and I do know that branch mess has had convosive in terms of like hey come on you can give me a bit more you're now one of the senior guys one of the most experienced guys now we the bit more from you so I know those

convos have been had which unnecessary but I just feel like for me I like seeing players kick on I like seeing players like you can do well in the beginning then the league figures you out what now can you kick on it and I don't think we've seen that kick on yet I think it is there I don't think we've seen it yet so are you comfortable going with him at right back

rest of the way I am but I do think what was going on the left side when he's being portioned reach there I would love to have that also on the right side by don't know if it's there. Yeah I don't know I'm trying to put myself in Alex's position when I played you know right back and for me it was all about just getting in the right position and swinging in balls and turning around defenders and I think if he just gets back to that we

saw it a lot when the sounders played with five in the back or three five two whatever they were playing a couple years ago that he is positioning and just getting the ball and whipping it in behind I think if he just gets back to that and he says I'm going to whip the ball in guys every time I get it I'm going to get it and serve it all up you know Mark Birch right you knew that mark his left foot was so good that every time he got the ball he was going to whip it in and with Mauro you knew every time that was all got the ball he was going to get it and whip it in and you just knew that that was going to happen I don't think that

anyone in that front three front four when Alex gets the ball knows if it's going to be swung in or if he's going to lay it back off to Christian underneath and look for one two I just don't know if you know everyone's on the same exact page but that's up to Alex Alex has to take charge there and be like guys I have a killer right foot you seen it in the past I've had you know seven eight nine assistant a season and I've had three or four goals from sneaking in behind and he has to take charge in that moment no matter what the coaches say if it's on when you get the ball out wide

and you see a daylight serve the ball right you saw it last night you have to take chances like Ruides right shooting from half field you have to take chances and that's the unpredictability but then there's a predictability side where Alex has to get the ball and say talk to the team guys give me the ball going to serve it in I'm feeling good might you know my right foot's good we're going to play for knock downs five six times for knock downs five, six times in a half and go from there.

So you know that our wingers aren't traditional wingers and a 4-2-3-1 with whoever it is, Obed and Jordan, but that predictability should come from Alex then. And I think he has to be the one that's going to take charge and say that's how he wants to play. Yeah. No, I agree with you there. And I think, again, I do still, I like Alex a lot. He's consistent. Yeah, great player. Yeah, is that that kick-on? Is that now really you going to get up? Up a level, another level there.

And for the sound, there's anyway, well, nice to get a little break, as soon as that main was really, really busy month, all around so many games, not a guy's kind of recharge. When it do come back, as you've said, it will be Kansas City away. Unless there's Minnesota, Houston, then you get free home games like Dallas, Chicago, and you also play New England. And you're both to Austin, but then there's another free home games. It's sent Lewis, LFC, Minnesota.

So it's like in the league club, but we're going to see them in a lot at home. And I concern remains with the home for not being quite where it is. That's maybe the one thing for me, where it's just like, I'm not sure how you unlock that maybe Pedro does. But we shall see.

Any final thoughts for you in terms of going into this break, if you're playing that locker room, do you get away for cup of days and just, I mean, if you, you know, just don't even think about kicking a ball, think about the game and kind of just recharge. Well, does it depend on who you are? Some guys maybe need that right now, and some guys probably need to do a bit more.

So, but how does the team, how should they be approaching this little, it's not the biggest break, but you do get a weekend off. And the next week you can kind of get back and say, okay, Kansas, Kansas, Kansas, but right now, you can kind of not have to think about really being locked in as you have had to be for the last eight, nine weeks and things like. Yeah, look, I think if I'm on this team right now, I'll give the guys, you know, three days off, two days off, maybe three days off.

And if I'm any player on this team, Sunday is a day that we're all, it should be decent in Seattle. Yeah. I'm having a team barbecue. Yeah. Like we got to like have some fun because if you just get into the everyone takes three days off to get away and then you come back into training, you've got to have some break there mentally and as a team, you know, I think we talked about it before. It's, I don't know what other teams are doing.

We get out of other guys from other teams on and maybe chat about it, but I think this weekend would be a great opportunity for a barbecue, have families or don't have families whatever. Go for a night out. I don't know. I think that'll be key for the sounders team moving forward. You're never going to look back in three or four months and you said, oh, yeah, we had a team barbecue then. Yeah, maybe we didn't make the playoffs.

You're never going to look back and say, oh, I wish we didn't do that. I wish I had another day at home. You can't live in this world of what ifs if you're the leaders on this team and say, oh, what if we had done that halfway? You know, you go into any of your meetings with Schmetz and it's like, okay, how many, how many times you guys get together? Like what are you guys doing outside of the field? Yeah. You're never going to sit there and say, oh, we should have done more stuff together.

We should have done a barbecue in the middle of the year. I don't know. So something to just relax and you want to commiserate about soccer, commiserate about soccer. But at the end of the day, those things bring you together also, right? On the road, we're going out for a night out. All we do is sit there and complain about Ziggy and Schmetz. But that brought us together.

You know, that was like our bonding point, whether it's good or bad after a game, you're going to commiserate about a player about an instance in a game. If it's a good game, you're going to celebrate that win. So I think it's a great opportunity for the guys to get together, you know, hang out and just shoot. Yeah. No, I agree with you 100%. I didn't think of that. I think yeah, this week, and I'm wondering who will be whether it's the guy led by Steph or someone like that. Maybe you're wrong.

I'm not sure. But someone has to take that group together and get the bulk of the players. Some guys maybe can't make it. That's fine. But you got to get the bulk of the guys together and do some kind of team activity team to get away from the fans, the way from media, away from coaches, just players and just shoot the shit really. I just enjoy yourself. So I would agree on that. But anyway, we'll be back next week. But before then, when do you guys take off in this tournament?

It's coming up, right? Yeah. June 3rd, I leave here, played a little 11v11. It's only 105 here. So I'm trying to get you to the heat. Mix Disgrude is here, former national team guy. He lives here now, actually kind of a weird story. His dad went to school at ASU. He lives here full time now. So I got to play with him last night, a little run about. He'll play again tonight. And so yeah, leave June 3rd and then the game start on June 5th in North Carolina. Thanks coming up.

Yeah, that's next week. Yeah, so that'd be fun. The game's begin. We're looking forward to that. That's it. It's televised. I think some of it. Or at least, yeah. I think it's on like ESPN plus. Yeah. All right, well, as always, comment, like, subscribe, whether you get your podcasts, the sounders, four points in the last three games. Obviously, disappointments to drop the one last night. But a nice little break coming up for all of us. And then it will be into the big, big, long days of summer.

And that's when it's going to make or break this team season. And we'll be here, of course, covering it all. This has been a Sounders FC podcast presented by Toyota. We'll be back next week. Perfect. Awesome. I'll post tomorrow. We'll do next. Cool. Next week. Perfect. All right. All right. See you guys. See you guys. All right.
