Episode description

This was recorded on a cold and misty morning beneath an oak tree by the waters edge at Crystal Springs in Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park, Shasta County, California. The recording starts about forty minutes before sunrise and slowly gets louder as more and more birds join the chorus. The park is located only a few miles from the rural farming communities of McArthur and Fall River Mills, and is unfortunately not beyond the reach of the noise pollution which these towns and the highway running through them create, and is heard on this recording. That said, there is an incredible diversity of birds and other wildlife, and perhaps it is good to be reminded that a place of such natural abundance can exist alongside us humans if we are careful and considerate of the needs of species other than our own.

This is the fourth episode I have released this week, so I'll spare you the spiel and try to keep this short. I hope that you all are doing okay. As long we keep putting one foot in front of the other, eventually we will get over this mountain of a pandemic. Stay healthy, stay safe, stay sound.
