It is time to get solar powered. We welcome you to the solar powered podcast. My name is Ryan Hall from Royal Hearts Coaching. Royal hearts coaching.com, life and relationship coaching for kings. And on today's program, I first wanted to speak a little bit about a I wanted to speak a little bit about just a huge a huge milestone that I recently hit on this podcast. This podcast that I started in a hotel room in, right right here in, right here in Stamford, Connecticut.

This podcast recently crossed 1,000 downloads. Now this is something that I do on my own. I don't have any staff. I don't have any, you know, fancy editing equipment. I do all of my editing on garage band with, you know, with a USB microphone that I bought at Best Buy like 6 years ago. A damn good microphone, by the way, but it's, you know, it's nothing special. But knowing that something that I created in a, in a really dark time in my life has been able to affect 1,000 lives.

It's just really it's it's it's really powerful. It's really beautiful, and it's really humbling to me. And I'm grateful for it all. But it's gotten me thinking. It's gotten me thinking just, I think, the power that podcasts can have for entrepreneurs, for for authors, of which I'm both.

And I just, you know, really just think it's a powerful experience to be able to to be able to share yourself on such a just a big level, to help you get your voice out there, to help you get your brand established. And I wanted to share a few thoughts about that, Because I think one of the biggest one of the biggest aspects for me of living a soul centered, solar powered life, is sharing my voice, which is one of the reasons why I love and enjoy doing this podcast so much.

And the way that I see it, there are there are 4 main types of podcast out there. And one doesn't have to necessarily be simply one single podcast or one single type of podcast. But it's all in service, and it's all in an effort to help people get their voice out into the world. There's one podcast that just really stands out to me, and it's just incredibly compelling. But it is, it's a, it's an investigative journalism podcast.

In fact well, this investigative, this investigative, podcast, an investigative journalism podcast took place in a town that I know pretty well. A town called Woodstock, Alabama, which is about, you know, 30 minutes or so from Tuscaloosa, which is where I grew up. And here's the synopsis.

In 2012, horologist John b Bacoemore sent an email to the staff of the show, This American Life, which is on National Public Radio, asking them to investigate a murder in his hometown of Woodstock, Alabama, a place he claimed to despise. After a year of exchanging emails and several months of conversations with Macklemore, producer Brian Reed traveled to Woodstock to investigate. And I'm reading this straight from Wikipedia, by the way.

He investigated the crime and eventually found that no such murder took place. Though he struck up a friendship with Macklemore, a depressed but colorful character, he recorded conversations with Macklemore and other people in Woodstock, which you're playing on the podcast. You know how many times this podcast, which is called s town, which I believe is short for shittown, but would you believe how many times this town has been downloaded?

If I told you that S town has been downloaded over 40,000,000 times by May of 2017, almost 4 years ago, would you believe me? All 7 episodes, all 40,000,000 downloads were done between the end of March 2017 May of 2017. And it God knows how many more it's got by now. That's the kind of impact that a podcast can have. This is not simply like a radio show where if you're not, I don't know, if you're not tuned in from noon to 3, you can't listen to it. Or or, I mean, or or whatever.

This podcast is something that you can download and listen to at any time. But it can be an invaluable tool to help people get their voice and their message and their story out into the world. There are a few different types of podcasts that I wanted to go over other than like the serialized podcast, you know, like serial. But, the way that I see it, there are 3 main types of podcasts. And I'll give you an example of of, really, of all 3.

And some of these can be just incredibly, exceedingly popular. The first type is the I like to call it the bite sized podcast. Usually, you know, 5 minutes, less than 5 minutes, but it gives you a great chunk of information or bit of inspiration or a lesson that you can take on in your life. Like for example, there's a podcast called the daily stoic, which, first of all, it's based off of, it's it's hosted by a guy, I swear to god, named Ryan Holiday.

I'm not sure if he's any kin to Mikey or Jimmy Holiday, but that's another story for another time when I can hopefully have him on the program, which will be incredible by the way. But, but Ryan's podcast is is based on the teachings of the ancient stoic philosophers, then like Cicero and Epictetus. That just really it's, really I find like beautiful lessons on on how to on how to live a more purposeful life, on how to live a more resilient life.

Now he also branches into different types of podcasts. Like I know on the weekend, he has, he has more of, more of an extended, 1 on 1 interview that he has with somebody. But during the week, you know, Monday through Friday, he's, you know, it's always, you know, 3, 4, 5 minutes, but it's, you know, something bite sized that you can listen to over breakfast or over a cup of coffee. Something that I really enjoy. So the first one I like to call the bite sized.

The second one is something that I sometimes practice on this podcast, but it's primarily for different for different types of podcast out there, and that one is gonna be more of the long form informational podcast. Now, 2 such examples of this are both, both of whom that I have listened to pretty regularly. The first one is called the awake with Jake show.

Now the host of this program is a man named Jake Woodard, who, the more of, an energetic healer, but I think he identifies himself as a coach, but he he always offers just really beautiful lessons about masculine and feminine energy, and how to balance it, how to pull more from your masculine or pull more from your feminine to be able to live a more well rounded life. And these are usually, you know, 20, 25 minute episodes, but they're chock full of gold. That's one such example of this.

Another such example of this is a program that I really dig called the Jocko podcast. Now this is a far different type of show, but the Jocko I think it's called the Jocko podcast. Jocko Wilnick. Yeah. The the guy's name is Jocko Wilnick, and Jocko's a retired Navy seal turned author, motivational speaker, but his his programs are definitely informational, but they are also a lot more long form.

Like some of his episodes can run 2, 3 hours, But there are but there are usually lessons on strategy, on on toughness, on like mental resilience. You know, another guy loved to have on podcasts. And then the one that I enjoy more than I think anything is what I usually practice on this program. And what I usually practice on this program is the long form conversation.

Reminds me of my days back in talk radio, where we can, you know, where we can have regular guests or just have really deep conversations with people talking about their stories, their lives, their work, their, you know, just who they are. And that's something and and I truly believe that's how I have built an, you know, a bit of an audience in this program was because not only do I enjoy doing it, I enjoy practicing it because I'm really freaking good at it. Like, I'm really good at it.

I mean, I'm like, I'm really good at it. But even, you know, even different types of podcasts, these are these are ways that people can get their voice and their story and their message out into the world. Now I know that, you know, let's take somebody like Joe Rogan, for example, I occasionally listen to his show, but sometimes I find him a bit of a bore, But there is no question. His reach, his power, his voice is everywhere, y'all, everywhere.

And he recently, he recently signed, like, a huge deal with, with, Spotify to exclusively host, to exclusively host his, his show. And if you think the downloads from s town will blow your mind, I wanna throw this out there. In 2009, April of 2019 or April of 2019, not 2009, but April of 2019 Rogan has said that his podcast has 190 million downloads every month. 190,000,000 downloads. That's that's essentially the population of the United States every other month.

It takes him 2 months, and he's got more than the population of the United States. That is insane to me. And like I said, I do find him a bit of a bore sometimes, but there is no question. There is no question whatsoever that that his voice is incredibly popular and powerful. 190,000,000 downloads a month. Every freaking month. Now I'm not saying that I will ever obtain that type of that type of reach, that type of power, that type those types of numbers. I don't want that.

But I also do want to expand the reach of the solar powered podcast because this podcast is becoming a huge part of my message, of my voice, of my of my story. Sharing my story, sharing the stories of other people, sharing, you know, sharing stories of people who have overcome adversity, who have overcome fear and and heartbreak in order to live a more soul centered solar powered life.

Now I'm not going to announce what I've got going on over this podcast quite yet, but I anticipate being able to hit a 100 episodes by the summer of 2021. In fact, this is episode 49. I'm gonna be participating in at least 2 more collaborative book projects. I anticipate some really powerful episodes coming out of those. At least 2 more. And all I'm gonna say here on this podcast is that the 3rd collaborative book will be centered around this podcast.

That's all I'm going to say about that right now. But I want you to, I want you to really think about something here. I want you to think just how how much reach just just think of how many people a 1,000 people truly is. Think about this. Think about this. If you put a thousand people into a room, that's a well, first of all, you can't do that now because of, you know, our good friend COVID 19. But if you put a but let's just imagine that never mind. But let's put a 1,000 people in a room.

Let's put a thousand people in a room and just imagine the reach that has because every person in that room let's just imagine that those 1,000 people don't know each other at all. It's an unlikely, you know, it's an unlikely thing, but let's let's let's just let's just play with it here. Put those 1,000 people in a room and they don't know each other. What you say affects not just those 1,000 people in a room, but everybody each one of those people has in their lives.

Their family, their spouses, their kids, their coworkers, their their friends. Every person in that room, You're speaking to the entire world because it's not just the people that everybody in that room knows, it's the people that they know. And they know until it expands to the whole world. That's the entire circle of influence. One person, one person sitting in a hotel room in Stamford, Connecticut can change the whole world.

If I can do that, if I who, you know, I who who still can see himself as that terrified child who can't be bothered to come out of his room because he's scared of everything. If I can share my voice on this platform, there's nothing y'all can't do. There's not a damn thing y'all can't do. And that's the power that podcasting has. And, you know, I I I don't put calls to action often in these podcasts, but I'm gonna do it right now.

If you're an entrepreneur, if you're an author, if you're a coach, if you're somebody who wants to get your voice onto a bigger platform, If you have a story, if you have something to share with the world, I want to help you get that out there. I want to help you uncover those blocks. I want to help you move the needle to share your voice with the world. I really wanna do that. I wanna support people in sharing their voice with the world.

So what I'm gonna do is if you, if you wanna take, take advantage of this, have a sample coaching session with me, with the sole purpose of learning how to share your voice with the world, schedule that sample coaching session with me. I'm going to include a link to my Calendly page in the description of this podcast. So you can sign up for that sample coaching session and learn how to learn how to share your voice with the world.

That's my commitment to you to help you spread your message and share your voice with the world. Because everybody listening to this podcast right now can change the world. Because chances are you're listening to this podcast on a smartphone. Whether you're in your car, in your home, you're you're either gonna be listening to this on a pod on a, on a smartphone or on a tablet.

But that smartphone you're holding in your hands right now has more computing power and more power to spread your message than the computers that the astronauts used to land on the moon 50 years ago, every one of them combined. That's the power that you hold in your hands, and that's the power that you can use to change the world because we need to shift the message in this world. If you have a message that you wanna share, I wanna help you get that out there.
