Episode description

Fergus Farrell represented Connacht rugby up to U20 level and was also capped for the Irish Youths at U18, and is perhaps best known for his time representing Monivea RFC and Galwegians RFC and for owning his own transport business in Galway. A few years ago Fergus suffered a horrific spinal injury at work and was told he was likely to never walk again. Fergus speaks about his journey through and recovery from a broken back, mental health difficulties, relationship problems, and how he feels men, in particular, can talk more.

Fergus create the Toughest Trek Challenge in October 2019 (206km walk, a year after breaking his back where he, friends, and family, successfully walked for 5 days from Athenry to the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH), arriving at the Hospital on the anniversary of his accident – raising over €62,000 in the process. Soon he is joining Damien Browne in Project EMPOWER - an attempt to row 4937.47km unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean from New York City to Galway in world record time.
