A Good Place in Professional Golf

is there not a merger? All that stuff. But I think we're in a really good place in professional golf, and I think the reason for that is what we are seeing on the golf course, on both the PGA Tour side on the live side, around the world. I've been traveling pretty much NonStop this year already been so far this year to Saudi Arabia, to Australia, to Thailand, to Hong Kong, to Singapore, to Mexico City, to Korea.

So I've been around the world. I see people interested in golf, I see people loving seeing the best players in the world, and I just think golf to me right now, when I look at the performance side of things, I think golf is in a pretty good place. And I'll give two examples on the PGA Tour side. Scotty Scheffler, right, I mean, first of all, the last cut Scottie Scheffler missed, I think was in August of twenty twenty two at Memphis.

I mean, that's a joke. He's got fourteen wins now two majors, just won the Briar Nelson thirty one under sixty one sixty three sixty six sixty three on Sunday, won by a million shots. I mean, the golf he is playing is unbelievably impressive. He was hurt at the beginning of the year, so he didn't start until Pebble finished his ninth there Waste Management, which is his highest

finish this year. Tied for twenty fifth, tied for third at Genesis, eleventh at Bayhill, at the API, twentieth at the Players, tied second in Houston, fourth at the Masters, eighth at Harbor Town, and then wins Byron Nelson and buy a million shots. The guy is I mean, he's a machine. He's just he's so consistent as a player. When you watch his game he can kind of win

in a lot of different ways. I think he can win on incredibly hard golf courses where you know you're not going to shoot super super low scores, and then last week at the Byron Nelson, sixty one in the first round to sixty three's and a sixty six to throw in there and thirty one under. So he can

win major championships. We know that he has the game that you need to have to win a major championship, but he also has the game on a golf course that's soft and wide open TPC Craig Ranch where they played the Byron Nelson, you know, it's the bomber's paradise. He hits the golf ball a long way. I mean I'm always surprised when I see Scotti Scheffler up close, you know, when he's standing next to other players. I mean he's a big guy. I mean, you know, he's

six two six' three maybe even six. FOUR i, mean he hits the golf ball a long, way and he is just so. Impressive i've talked about him on the pod, before BUT i think the things that he is doing and the way he is playing golf is Very it's. SPECIAL i think we are in a really interesting time in professional. Golf the way That scotty goes about playing, golf the way That Scotty scheffler goes about living his, life his mental. APPROACH i marvel at watching he and

his Coach Randy. SMITH i got to watch them practice At augusta at The. Masters and the attention That Scotty scheffler has to, detail the attention he has to his, grip to his, setup is very very rare in the modern. Game WHEN i watch him hit golf, balls and he is somebody THAT i will sit and If i've got, Time i'll sit on a driving and just watch him, Practice watch the work that he And Randy smith do in the interaction with his, Caddie Teddy. SCOTT i think

it's very, unique it's very. BASIC i think his attention to his fundamentals is it's fun to watch the. Grip it's anybody Doing instagram TikTok, videos YouTube videos on the grip right. NOW i, mean nobody even talks about that, anymore, RIGHT i, mean there are a lot of instructors that think grips don't. Matter where back in the, day thirty forty years, ago your grip was everything. Right AND i watch the attention to detail That scotty has with the way that he grips the golf club and the way

that his setup is very very. Specific it's very very. Practiced he's very diligent in the things that he's doing before he hits a golf, ball AND i think a lot of golfers listening could take a lot from. That you, know he's the best player in the game right. Now he's the number one ranked player in the game right now if you still believe in the world, rankings and he works on, fundamentals and you, know he's got a very idiosyncratic golf, SWING i guess you could, say but

he has a unbelievably functional golf. Swing SO i just think we're lucky right now to be watching the golf that he is, playing the scores and the performances that he is putting in week in and week. OUT i, mean the guy just never really finishes. Outside he's had two tournaments this year where he's finished twentieth and twenty, fifth right the. Rest he is a player right, now and he is on this kind of run that all the great players over the last you, know fifteen twenty.

Years get. On every single week he's the. FAVORITE i, mean think about. That every single week he tease it. Up you're putting him AS i, think you're putting him at the top of the list of people that are going to. Win and so it's just incredibly impressive to. WATCH a lot of people are making the comparison That scotty's kind of on this form right, now this kind Of Tiger woods type. FORM i, MEAN i see. THAT

i definitely think you could make an argument for. IT i, think you, know my dad always, says you, know having been a part of That tiger. Era, YEAH i mean he's doing things That tiger has. Done can he do it for the next ten? Years can he do it for the next fifteen? YEARS i Mean tiger did for twenty but Can Scotty. SCHEFFLER i, mean LIKE i, said it's been three years since he's missed. Cut that's basically

What tiger used to, do, Right he never missed. Cuts every single time he teed it, up he had a chance to. Win every single time he teed it. Up, yeah the one finished, second finished top, five rarely finished outside the top. Twenty every time he teed it, up and those are the type of things That Scotty scheffler is. Doing AND i can still remember two THOUSAND i think it was two thousand and Seventeen Aaron hills When brooks won his first FEW Us. Open they share the same,

Agent Blake. Smith we played a practicer on With. Scottie nothing really stood. Out it JUST i look back at that AND i look at the player he is, today and, YEAH i mean he was a great college, player he was a great amateur player and, stuff but it didn't look back then anything. Extraordinary and what he is doing now is. Extraordinary he is as complete a player as there is in the. Game he's as complete a player That i've seen in a very very long, time both

on the golf course off the golf. Course there just aren't a lot of. WEAKNESSES i, mean people talk about his. PUTTING i, mean come, on that can't do what he's. Doing BUT i, mean he just doesn't have a. Weakness and it's just it's a pleasure to. Watch it's we are lucky to be watching the golf That Scottie scheffler.

Played and then another massive, Story roy McElroy finally finally getting a green, jacket finally getting A major after you, know almost a, decade over a decade and getting The Grand, SLAM Us open in twenty, ELEVEN pga twenty, twelve twenty, fourteen The open in fourteen and now The masters in twenty. win At Augusta. National there is not a golf, course in my, opinion there isn't a golf course currently on the planet that is more set up for his, game for his skill, set for his toolbox and all the things he. Had but you said the same thing About

Greg norman as. Well Greg norman had all the. Shots Greg norman went in there with a big, lead AND i think that If rory hadn't gotten it done On, SUNDAY i think it could have been a similar situation as to what happened To Greg norman when he had a chance to win there big lead and didn't get it done and really kind of never recovered and his greatness just he couldn't get it done around. There AND

i Think rory went Into augusta with all the. Pressure he was the, favorite having won the players the way that he plays, Golf but he is another. One when you watch him play, golf you watch the things that he can. Do he can make things. Happen that that is something THAT i love About rory and love about his. Game there are very few players in the game that can make things happen the way that he, can with the way that he drives the golf, ball with how

high he can hit his, irons just Like Scotti. Scheffler he's a complete a player as there is twenty nine, wins over one hundred million, dollars two hundred and thirty three cuts out of two hundred and sixty four eighty three top, fives almost one hundred and thirty top. Tens the guy is one of the greatest. Players definitely one

the biggest. Superstars And rory McElroy is he's as. GOOD i, mean he's as good As i've. Seen he just has, everything and you, KNOW i think it's great for the game that he did get a green. JACKET i think his career would have been not what it could have been without. ONE i think he will be an Unbelievable masters. CHAMPION i think the members At Augusta national and the people that run that, tournament they couldn't ask for a better. Winner the fans loved, it the patrons loved. It it

was a WIN i think that the game. Needed and it's not because of the WHOLE pga. Tour rory McElroy's too good not to win At, augusta AND i just think watching him win, there it was great theater on that back nine On. SUNDAY i think we are, lucky like we are With Scotty, scheffler we are lucky to be Watching rory McElroy do What rory McElroy, does which is. Dominate he dominates in a lot of. Ways he dominates

with the. DRIVER i think if you listen to his press conferences At, augusta the influence Of Bob rotella of just trying to eliminate a lot of the white noise and just you. KNOW i thought it was interesting when they asked him On saturday if he thought about what happened when he had a really big lead, there and he, said it was a long time. AGO i don't even think about it. ANYMORE i guarantee you can remember every.

SHOT i guarantee you can remember every. Shot BUT i think the influence Of Bob rotella was to just try and get him to focus on the controllables right and his. Game when he plays his, best he's almost impossible to.

then wins In. Korea SO i think going into THE, Pga bryson is really really rounding into kind of the form where you would think he would be one of the guys that could, win had a chance to win last. Year so his game, now with the way that he, plays is major ready and he is going to be a threat IN i think he's going to have chances to win every major this. YEAR i think that's how good his game is right. Now AND i JUST i

continue to be impressed by how this guy. WORKS i get to see him every single week he's playing on. Live i've never seen him not go to the driving range in the entire. Time i've been to EVERY lib, event so every single tournament That i've been, to he is the last person on the driving. Range doesn't matter what he, shoots doesn't matter what the score, was doesn't matter how good it. Was he and his CADDY gbo straight to the. Range Dana dlkus was over with him last.

Week he talked about you, KNOW i asked him In Mexico. CITY i, said, listen you, know we're talking about The masters and was. TALKING i, said what did you? Learn and he started talking about his equipment and he started talking about where he was hitting on the face with the. Irons the superpower That bryson has is very much the superpower THAT i Think Scotti scheffler. Has it's, him, right and that they couldn't be more, different, Right they are

very very different. People BUT i think one Of bryson's massive, superpowers on top of the length he has and how far he can hit the golf, ball is him the way that he approaches the. Game the way that he approaches golf and the way that he thinks is incredibly. Unique there's nobody in the game that thinks about the game the Way bryson, does that practices the game the Way bryson. Does there's nobody in the game that has

equipment Like bryson. Does there's nobody in the game that is willing and actively trying to push the envelope with. Equipment WHEN i talked to him about, EQUIPMENT i have no idea what he's talking. ABOUT i, mean when you look at his golf, clubs and when you watch other people try and hit his golf, clubs they can't get them. Airborne the drivers that he, uses the grips that he's, uses you, know he said afterwards in his interview after he won In korea last, week he was spending this

week working on a GoF. Ball he is a unicorn when it comes to the way that he thinks about the. Game AND i think there were a lot of people When bryson came out that thought that that kind of quest for, perfection the rabbit holes that he can constantly go.

Down he was With Cobra puma for a long time AND i got to watch the rabbit holes that he and The Cobra puma club design team would go, down and the things that he would try and get them to, do and the ideas that he would try and throw at, them and there's just no one in the GAY i think there's an argument that you could make that there's never been anybody in the game Like. Bryson his approach is so, unique it is so specific to him and

the way that he, thinks and it's fun to. WATCH i don't have a clue what he's trying to, do and he tries to tell me sometimes what he's trying to, do And i'm in the game AND i can't figure it, out but he is figured it. Out and he also last week on a really kind OF i mean the greens In korea at The Jack Nicholas course there they

played The. President we were there in fifteen for The President's, cup And i'd forgotten how small some of those greens, are how much undulation some of those greens, Have and with his wedges that are the length of a six iron seven, IRON i don't Think bryson gets enough credit for being as creative around the greens as he's been able to become with a six iron length lob. WEDGE i love the fact that he wants to try and

figure the game. Out BUT i don't know if that approach could work for anyone, else but sheres how works for, him and he's one of the best players in the. GAME i don't care what the world rankings. SAY i don't even think he can believe in the world rankings anymore in my, opinion just my. Opinion but, man is he good and he works so damn, hard and it is unbelievably refreshing and cool to watch how hard he, works and very much in the way THAT i talked

about the Way Scotty scheffler his attention to. Detail bryson's details are, different they're his, own but the way that he goes about managing and working on his, game it's cool to. Watch it's out, there but it is fun to. Watch and then one of the other STARS i think in the game right, Now Wacho. Neeman three wins already ON liv this. is very Different singapore big golf. Course if you look at the guys that have won there. Before brooks has won there, Before Adam scott's won there a bunch of times back in the, Day Phil mickelson, won so it's a big golf course length power and Then Mexico city eight thousand feet of. Altitude everybody that week was trying to figure it. Out BUT i think the thing That i'm starting to be really impressed by With waco's game

is what he does On. Sundays. Adelaide he wins seven under On, Sunday, singapore he wins six under On, sunday four under on the front nine On sunday At, singapore and Then Mexico city six, Under so he's a. Closer the kid can. PLAY i hear a lot of people, saying you, know in majors sometimes when he, plays you, know you get some of the commentators that like to play that. Game, yea we don't really know how he, plays. WELL i can tell you how he plays really damn.

GOOD i think if there was a real world ranking right, Now i'd Put waco inside the top. Ten the kid can. Win and if you look at the scores that he shot At riviera when he was playing on THE Pga, tour and his game can kind of travel to a lot of different golf, courses very unique golf, swing BUT i love, it and he is somebody LIKE i said With Scotty scheffler Or, Rory i'll watch him hit golf. BALLS i like the way that he and his COACH E. DOO i like the golf swing they. Built it's, specific

it's unique to. Him Andrew, cummings who is his physio and his. TRAINER i think he has a big job to keep his body. Moving But waco works his ass off both on and off the golf, course And i'm interested to see what he can do with THE Pga Quail HOLLOW i think will set up good for. Him you need to drive the golf ball a long. Way this kid hits golf ball. Miles it's a great driver of the golf. Ball AND i think the test for all four of the players That i've talked, About Scotty,

Scheffler rory, McElroy rice And. Waco don't be surprised if all of those guys are on the, leaderboard especially deep into the, weekend because they have the type of. Game bryson two time major, Champion Scotti, scheffler two time major, Champion rory McRoy five time major. CHAMPION i Mean rory how many times he won it For Quail hollow For rory is kind of like What bayhill And mamour And Tory pines was For, tiger. Right he just loves that. Place he wins there a. Lot it sets up good for.

Him AND i think the way That bryson is driving the golf ball right, NOW i think that will be a, huge huge advantage for him. THERE i think the ball striking That Wako neeman has right now will be a huge advantage. There so, LISTEN i think the game is in a good. Place it's A Ryder cup. Chambeau AND i think on all the tours all around the, world there is a tremendous amount of good young talent AND i just don't think the game is in that

bad of a place BECAUSE i see some great. TOURNAMENTS i think The majors this, YEAR i mean The masters always the first major of the, year we had a great, one AND i think this is going to be a great year for the. MAJORS i think we are going to get some great duels with some great. Players there'll be some people in the mix that aren't necessarily in the. Mix but say what you. Want don't believe the hype the.

Game from a playing, standpoint there's a lot of good, golf and we are seeing some special people and some special players do some special.
