They release an annual list from the best and worst states for entrepreneurs using the most recent data from the Census Bureau, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Tax Foundation, and the US Senate. The rankings were determined by analyzing six key categories in
all fifty states and Washington DC. Corporate tax rate, inflation, consumer spending growth, job creation rate, and net migration of educated workers. So, according to all of that, South Dakota rank number twenty one, which is down fifteen spaces from twenty twenty four, South Dakota saw decline in its ranking, primarily due to slower job creation in the last year. That is the big big deal. It was a rate of thirteen point four, ranking number forty nine on the list,
so that's what made the biggest difference. A dip in consumer spending growth as well, but just a little bit there. And despite these challenges, the state maintained a strong position in new business growth, which while falling five point eight points to two point five percent, still held us at number ten overall. So again we slid down a little bit,
but it's still not a bad place to be.
