before Christmas. That's a whole lot easier to say. And I've got here a new study that came out this year about packaged theft during the holiday shipping rush, and that is something that's really sad. I see sadly people all the time saying, Hey, somebody stole this off my porch. Porch pirates don't do that. That's not nice. Well, where do South Dakota rank in the entire country. We're not

the worst, but we're also not the best. A new study nationwide from Lobardo Holmes found that South Dakota ranks number seven in the country for package theft hotspots. Ninety five percent of Americans, by the way, we'll have a package delivered this holiday season, nearly have forty eight percent have had a package stolen. Have you ever had that happen? I've had packages delivered to the wrong address. We've moved a few times, and then you know, somehow it got

sent to the wrong address. But I don't know that I've ever had one stolen. Shoppers will spend on average five hundred and eighty six dollars for an online purchases, not one purchase, but all of their purchases, making theft especially costly during the holidays. The average stolen package is worth up to two hundred and four dollars, hitting budgets that are already being strained by inflation. So again, I

can see this is a sad thing that happens. Glad to know we're not the worst place in the nation. But are you wondering who is? I'm kind of wondering who is? Good news, I've got that entire list here, and it might surprise you to know the number one place. So let's start at number fifty. The place where package theft happens the least is Florida, And I wonder if that has to do with maybe it be an older population and maybe they don't shop online as much. Do

you think that's what it is? I don't know what it is. Texas is number forty nine. California is forty eight on the list. These are the places where packages are shopped are stolen off porches the least, so I told you already. Number seven was South Dakota. We're number seven on the list. Number six is Alaska, number five. It's even worse in Rhode Island. Yeah, tiny little royal island. The one that surprises me here is as we get to the top, Wyoming is number four. Really, Wyoming, Delaware

is number three. Number two, our neighbors to the north, North Dakota, Yeah, number two. These are Google searches over the last twelve months related to stolen packages per capita. So there are more people checking into hey, somebody stole my package in North Dakota. And then the number one hotspot is Vermont. That is the state where they're searching the most for packages being stolen. I've got this entire list, all of the stuff. I shared it on our social

media yesterday if you want to see it. It's sad. Don't steal packages and hopefully you get all your stuff. And here's a great way to make sure you get your stuff. Walk into a store or hand them money, they'll hand you items and then you take it home. Yeah, how cool is that. That's a smart way to do it. If you're still looking for a last minute gift idea.

We're not going to be in the office today selling them, but we do have some Big Sue coupon books that we are selling as a fundraiser for the Seux Falls fireworks. You could still buy them though today at Get and Go locations in the Seux Falls area and at Lewis Drug locations in the Seux Falls area. And the cool thing is, no one's going to steal that package off your porch, well unless you leave it land on the porch,

then maybe they will. But you can get all of those details if you or you can get no you can get the details at Big Sue coopon book dot com or just get the book. You can get that right now at Get and Go in Soux Falls or at Lewis Drug in Soux Falls. Thank you for listening on the day before Christmas. Hey, something you should know.
