I didn't even know this was the thing. And we've got JB Is that right?

Yep?

Correct, And we're going to chat about this event. It's in September, so we got time to plant and you might even have time to grow out a little facial here.

If you want, right, Oh, yeah, there plenty of time.

Yet it's between now and September. I don't know how much I'll be able to grow between now and then, But like, you've got a pretty cool beard going here. How long have you been working on that?

Oh, I've had I've had a full beard for probably twenty years, Okay, but I want to say about five six years ago. I've always thought about shaving the chin and just having what in the beard competition world they call them natural sideburns or chops okay, and I just we were at a competition. They needed some more entries in the chops class and they had a barber at the competition. It was a big national one.

You like, sign me up.

I was like, let's do it.

That's awesome. So the event is coming up again, the tenth annul South Dakota Beard Clash, presented by Tito's Handmade Vodka. An Honest Amish Beard. What is honest Amish Beard?

They're a beard care product company. Can they make like you can buy hair care for your hair, they make haircare for your beard.

Well, that's cool. And it's a fundraiser for Sleep and Heavenly Peace, a South Dakota of nonprofit, which is really a cool thing as well. It's coming up at Bottoms Up in Course in September thirteenth, So you've got some time. But let's talk about these different categories. If people because there might be somebody listening, they could absolutely enter right now, they just didn't know what's happening. So we've got a full beard under four inches, so that says business class.

And they do the measurements for length that's from the bottom your lower lip. Okay, so anything under four inches we consider that like the business class nice, it's typically more of a more of a cleaned up styled.

Very nice beard. And I see a full beard four to eight inches, full beard eight to twelve inches, and then a full beard twelve plus. Which category has the most people?

Usually it's usually the four to eight eight is usually one of the biggest classes very nice.

And then there's also a full beard styled stash. What does that mean?

That's where you have a full beard and you can use products to style, like a curl into your mustache.

Okay, so you have both. Now there's also a go tea. See I just shaved, so I feel like naked here, but I have like just a little bit of a go tea.

Yep.

But for the go tea, I'm assuming that's probably people have like a big, a big go tea.

It's yeah, any go tea there and there's a chance.

And then chops, that's what you have. And then I see another category called whaler. What in the world is a whaler?

Whaler is a full beard but no mustache.

Okay, like an Abe Lincoln kind of can, that's a whaler. And then there's a mustache, natural mustache styled. So the difference between those is the natural is just like a tom Selleck.

Mustache, just as it lays no no styling aids to help it like hold a curl.

And then the style would be like the people that do the strong Man in the circus, but the cues. And then we also have a mustache horseshoe. What is a horseshoe.

Horseshoe is where the mustache extends down. It's like a horseshoe, like.

A John Rich. Yeah, so it's kind of like a go tea without the chin.

Yes exactly.

I did that one time just to see what my wife would say. She was not a fan, so.

It's surprised we do. Actually not many smaller competition or like town competitions have that class because it's usually not very popular, but we usually do get a handful of people that show up for it.

That again, mustache horseshoe. Then we have craft beard realistic. What is a craft beard.

That's for the ladies to be able to get involved. Okay, they for the realistic, they make a fake beard that they put on that looks like a real beard.

And then there's another craft beard creative. That's one where it's like, you know, wild and crazy.

Yep. They take whatever crazy thing you want to do and make it look like a beard and put it on.

Then there's freestyle that's just all bets are off, whatever you want to do.

That's mainly like where guys style shapes into their beard. There they can get real creative with that.

And there's a kid's class. Yep, how many kids have a beard.

It's like the it's like the creative classes, and it's not a not a typical class like the way you do the other ones. We actually have crafts and stuff that when the kids get to the competition they can go that. We'll have a couple of people back there they can help them. They'll make one right there, and then they can come up on stage and talk about their beard.
