talking about a really fun event that's coming up next Friday. So a little over a week from today, we have an event called Last Comic Standing. It's put on by the Junior League and I'm so excited to be a part of this. Next week, we have Lindsay joining us right now. Lindsay, before we talk about the event, let's talk about the Junior League.
What do you guys do at the Junior League? Sure? Yes. The Junior League of sup Bals has been serving the sup Baals community for over forty years, and we're a nonprofit organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of other women, and improving community through effective action and leadership through trained volunteers. So we're passionate about serving our community and uplifting women in the
community. I love that and last year was the first last Comic Standing event and it was a very fun event, and I would say it was pretty successful, Wasn't it very successful. It was the first time we'd ever put on an event like this and we managed to sell it out. It was a packed house that was standing room only at one point and oh my gosh, we just had a ball. And so we are so excited to do it again this year and for anybody that had come to the event last year,
it will be very similar. But there are some slight changes, right, a few changes. We've reduced the number of comedians competing this year to eight just for times sake. We will have live music again this year with Blake Raven the Unmentionable, and then our celebrity judges. Our panel has changed a little bit this year. So yeah, I mean, we're excited for some of the changes, but we're keeping it pretty much. We're keeping it
pretty solid till last year. Yeah, you got something that works, you don't change it too much, because again, it worked really well last year. Last year there were ten comics competing and I was one of the competitors last year. This year, i'm the MC. So thank you for having me do that. I think it's going to be fun to do that without me being up there competing with my friends. That's exactly right. We are so so excited to have you. I remember your set last year, John,
and I thought you were one of the better ones. It was the same you didn't win, Nan. We were so lucky to have you. It was so much fun and I was not there to win. I was there to have fun. And I'm so excited that Nathan Haltz was our winner last year. He's not one of the competitors this year because he's got a special. He's filming a special real soon, and it landed at a time
where he was not able to do this. But again, I'm really excited to be a part of it. And I know all eight of the comedians who will be there next Friday, and whoever it is that wins, they're all very funny people. It's going to be a really, really fun night, agreed. I've seen most of these comics in town before. They are all fantastic. It's going to be a fun night no matter how you slice
it. So we are pumped. And I had somebody say because a lot of these comics you'll see at like open mic nights, and I had somebody go, well, so why would I buy a ticket to go see them here when I could just see them at an open mic for free. Here, let me explain the difference between the two. And open mic night is where you're going to try out new material. Some of it works, some
of it doesn't. So when you go to an open mic night, it's still very funny, but some of the stuff that they're telling they're literally trying it out. Going, Hm, I wonder if people will like this when you go to this thing next Friday night, there's no trying things out. This is going to be their best material because they're all competing to win a thousand dollars. That's going to be the difference right there. You're going to hear the best of the best from the best of the best, and I
think it's going to be a really fun night. That's right. They're going to be bringing their a game and we are all prepared to laugh our butt stop that night. So we are so pumped.
