Thanks for listening to the John Ed Heidi Show excited a visit right now with Terry Liggins with Hurdle Life coach. How you doing, sir, I'm doing good, John.

I'm always excited to get connected with you the good day. Well, congrats on graduation recently. When was the graduation October twentieth. I'm still riding a high from all the people we had show up and show out and have fun with us. But it was a lot of fun that we had at start of Soup Falls October twenty have just completed our second pilot of the Change Program. So let's talk. We'll rewind and go back to the beginning because there

are some folks listening right now that are going who is Terry? What is the Change program? Who's John talking to? So let's talk a little bit about, first of all, who Terry is, because I think you're fascinating. So, Terry Liggins, who are you? Well, I'm almost a South Dakota kid at this point, I've been here nineteen years. You are we adopted that you're a South Dakota kid. Now, I'll take it. I'll take it. Originally born in Omaha, but came out here to USC

in two thousand and three. I got graduated, I ran track and then three years ago I decided to take the mindset of hurdling, which I was a hurtler at USD, and I started a nonprofit called Hurdle Life And so in the summer of twenty twenty two, everything was all shaken up and someone told me, Terry, you've got what it takes to help people through adversity. You've got what it takes to help people through chaos. You've gone through

it, You've got the mindset forward. You should go out and help other people. And so I started Hurdle Life Coach Foundation with the intent of doing mentorship and coaching to a RISU as an adults and we've been going at it for three years now. I love that. And here's the thing I love about Hurdle Life coaching is you're helping other people get over the hurdles in their life. Because there are people who absolutely positively have things that pop up in

their life that they feel like it's impossible to get over that. But there is a way, isn't there. Yeap mindset, and it starts with mindset. So I've been able to adopt the hurdle mindset on the track and We just believe that the obstacles and barriers in life are also meant to be hurdles.

So that's what we do in the Change program to start with mindset and just keep them in cursed and motivated that they can get over that hurdle that's in front of them getting from them and their goals that they have set. So now let's talk about the Change program. Because you've had two different classes graduate. How many were in the first group and how many were in the second group. So we graduated nine in this last pilot that we did.

The first time we graduated about the same. We started off with a fifteen, so we have some that trickle off in the throughout the process. But it's a group program for up to fifteen teenagers. And the teenagers we are reaching for John and we're attracting, you know, they come from background that are not the most stable and the most consistent. So it's not only important that we support them, but also their families and their parents and helping with

resource navigation even for their family. So it's a bigger picture than those might recognize and see. But the fact that we got nine through the finish line and our second one we got ten through the finish line in our first one. We're celebrating the impact of being able to support these youths and their families through our Change Mentorship program. And think about this, nineteen graduates total between those two programs. That's nineteen lives you've directly impacted, but one hundreds,

probably thousands of lives you've impacted indirectly. Yeah. Absolutely, because there's a ripple effect from everything that we do. Every choice, every action, every behavior has a ripple effect. I can tell you that it's actually a cool thing that happened that one of the little brothers to a teenager that we just graduated, who's like twelve years old, looking at his fourteen year old brother, going can I do the pro next? I want to go through what

my big brother went through. And so the siblings are being impacted, the families are being impacted, and they're certainly a ripple effect from providing support that we do. I love that. And even the students that started the program they didn't make it to the finish line, I guarantee you they got something out of the program. Even if there was something in the way that they couldn't finish the program. They're walking away changed as well, So you made

even an impact in those lives as well, one hundred percent. And they're a thing called dose response, John, that basically says, the greater the dose of support, the greater the impact. But any dose is better than no dose, and so absolutely, I mean, we had some things that were unforeseen with some of the lives of some of our students that caused them to go out. One of them, I'll tell you I didn't see this

coming. Foster kid. I had a foster student turning eighteen years old and they were dead set on going to find and bio family, so they left the state. And now all of a sudden, we didn't see coming. But things like that happen when you're dealing with foster kids and other different dynamics. But that dose response, something's better than nothing. And we absolutely are providing support everything we got, these chances we get. I love that.

So will there be another program coming up? If somebody listening is going, hey, I know somebody would be perfect for that change program, is there an opportunity for them to get involved in another one coming soon? John? I'm going to be doing this work as long as there's breathing my lungs and my heart's beating, So not going to give up on finding the resources to

pull together another change program. We're absolutely intending to do another one here in the first part of the year because we were able to get some support from Salmon's Financial and my friend Greg Sands came alongside of us as well because he's a big believer in the work we're doing it. So we've got some dollars to do something in Q one, but we're still bootstrapping and so we can't

see too far past that. So other support, other corporate sponsors, individual donors will help us to be able to get us sustained long term plan and instead of being able how to do this being kind of quarter by quarter, if somebody listening is saying, hey, I would be interested in helping out, maybe they've got some budget left at the end of twenty twenty three, or they're going, hey, we're working on our corporate budget right now for

next year. If they'd like to talk to you about how this might fit in their plan, what's the best way for them to get in touch with you. Yeah, no, I'm online for sure under my name Terry Liggins, either on LinkedIn, or Facebook or her to Life Coach Foundation on Facebook. We also have a website her a Life Coach Foundation dot com with a gift button right there. But if somebody wanted to talk with me about giving, call me directly even six o five eight three eight seven eight nine eight

call me or tech me me and my board. We're all always open to conversations about partnerships. And if you're struggling to find him, let let me know here at the station. I'll get you guys connected. Terry's a great dude. It's been very fun to get to know you, and thank you again for your time today. Thank you John, You're all so generous for sharing it with us. I believe that it's making a difference, So thank

you so much for the support. Page, West Sue Studios and Sunny ninety three point three. It was on this day, November sixteenth, eighteen sixty nine, that WILLIAMS. Stevens passed away in Sioux Falls. That makes his grave the oldest grave we know of in town. As a matter of fact, William was actually buried at an older city plot closer to downtown. That was before Mount Pleasant Cemetery was founded. All of the remains at the old city burial ground were transported to that

new cemetery. William Stevens came to Sue Falls early on in eighteen fifty eight. He evacuated along with the rest of the Sioux Falls residence during the Dakota uprising in eighteen sixty two, but he ultimately returned to reclaim his land in eighteen sixty nine. Stevens was already weakened by tuberculosis when he returned to Sue Falls, and he was never able to recover. He passed away a few
