And this is kind of a fancy event, right, This is formal attire. Yes, so I can't wear like a tank top and cut off shorts exit left. No, you know what. I think it's nice and people should want to get dressed up every once in a while and go do something nice.

Yeah, and this is a thing that you can come out, do something fancy, do something fun. We'll talk about where, We'll talk about how you get tickets all that here in a second, but let's talk about why. Let's talk a little bit about what you guys do at Kingdom Works and what the funds are being raised for at this gala. Yeah. Absolutely, so. We actually have partnered with Dismus Charities. Dismiss is the largest re entry facility in America out of Kentucky. They open here last February.

They have forty eight different facilities across the country and they open here last February. They partner with us right away because with PAROLEE the reentry rate when there's no mentoring is between eighty and eighty four percent. Oh, Wow. With mentoring, it drops down to twenty between twenty and twenty four percent. That's

awesome. So and that's what we do. We mentor and disciple and career place paroles and yeah, so we're just very excited about this and this night for the gala, it's it's for them, you know, we're fundraising for Kingdom Works Foundation, but we want to show the paroles just a great night and a great night of dressing up coming into a fancier setting and helping them to see, hey, you're not a second class. You deserve to have

a good a great night. Also. I love that. Yeah, and it's this event is coming up this Saturday, the eighteen, So it's sneaking right up here. If somebody listening is going, hey, you know what, I don't have plans for Saturday. I'd like to go hang out with Thomas and all these folks. Yeah. Is there still time for them to register to be a part of this. We do still have tables available. You can go to Kingdom Works that's wo r X like x ray Kingdomworks dot

org and you can register. The tickets are free. With it being a fundraiser, there will be an auction and a silent auction. Nice, but yeah, we're very excited. I think this sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to convince my beautiful bride to join me. Looking forward to so I'll be there by myself because I'm going this sounds like fun. Kingdomworks dot Org and I'll throw a link to make that easy to find. And again it's at the Haven Arts Collective. I've never been there, so I'm

excited to check that out. Yeah, it's a beautiful, beautiful place. It's actually a dance studio. Nice. Yeah, and that's here in Sioux Falls. And again, all of the details I'll throw online. But if somebody would like to get involved, maybe they can't make it this Saturday, they can't make it to this event, but they'd like to get involved with Kingdom Works. Are you looking for volunteers? Are you looking for people to help in any way? We are. We have a great need for mentors.

Ments just in general just very important and having mentors is a huge part of what we do. You can check out our page Kingdomworks dot org. There's a tab for mentors. Click on that tab and you can find out all the information. But yes, we are always looking for a great mentors. That is awesome. I have Tom Gunlicks joining me. How are you sir, good? Real good. I'm excited to chat with you about this on Wednesday,

the twenty second. So this is next Wednesday already, Holy col we have a really fun event coming up at the social. Tell me a little bit about the event. Well, this all started Mike Hendricks and a friend of mine and I kept bumping into each other at funerals or get togethers, and we said, we can't keep doing this. It might be our funeral the next time we see each other. So we started a thing called Drinks for No Reason. Here you go, and we literally have no reason,

just get together. Whether twelve people or whether we've had as many two hundred show up, nice, and it's just to get together, stop in and say hi, have a drink, leave, but just say hi, see each other physically. And we've done it now for thirteen years, I believe. And this next Wednesday we're going to do a Drinks for No Reason with the cause nice. So there kind of is a reason. Well this time

I've said it before, it drinks for a reason with the cause. And the reason in this case, though, is going to be a reunion. It's going to be some of the bars I owned, starting with Night City Gunners after five and o Pie's former clients, former employees, anyone that can remember that far back. Yeah, it's quite a way for a lot of us. And it's before my time, before I moved to Sioux Falls. But I've heard so many wonderful stories about things that happened at many of those

places all my book that we talked about. So yeah, So it's just doing a kind of reunion thing for that and then the cause. I can't use names yet, that'll be announced the night of. But there is a young woman that has a baby. Her husband and her got married in twenty nineteen and he got cancer right away. Oh man, battle it for a little over four years and died here a couple months ago. And they didn't have life insurance, they had health insurance, but you know how that is,

as he was over in Mayo many times. So we're going to be doing this for her and her baby. They had the baby about a year ago through you know. But it's just going to be a get together. Everyone will have fun. Brian Reese is going to be the DJ. He was the DJ at Opie's in a couple of different places and so far, the reach out it's been good. Sounds like a lot of old clients and former employees are going to show up, quite a few of them. I love Brian. I knew him as DJ or as mc kelly. That's how

Kelly. Yep. So every time I hear Brian rees, I would have to connect the dots. Oh that's Brian mc kelly. Well, we get together once in a while and had lunch and stuff like that. But he wanted to do it. He really wanted to do it, dude. Yeah, and I wanted someone to do it, so why not Brian? And I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. It's six to ten a

week from Wednesday on the twenty second, the night before Thanksgiving. I know for some people that'll make it rough, but a lot of people are coming to town and they go, yeah, now we have something to do the night before. I love that. And I'll tell you what. I think you're going to discover that there are a lot of people who the night before Thanksgiving are saying, you know, this is something we can go and do. And the cool thing is it's for a good cause. You're going to

see friends that you haven't seen in a while. I mean everything about this just seems like a really good idea, so I'm excited for it. Well, it's no cover charge, just donations when you come there and they'll be there will be alcohol. There will be beer and if you want one, if you don't want one, just come in and say hi, connect with

some old faces, and we'll look forward to it. Here. It's six to ten a week from Wednesday on the twenty second at the social and that's right behind that one mall out there with Osted's in it to be the pocket. Yeah, and I hope a lot of people can come, and I'll throw a link on Facebook with all the details to make it really easy to

find. But I think it should be a really good time. And again, when people are there, there's gonna be music, there's gonna be drinks, but there's gonna be an opportunity to just chat and have fun as well. Exactly, that's the main thing. So even though there is a reason this time, it still kind of drinks for no reason, just get together because hey, why not get together? And I love the fact that it's also kind of a reunion for the different bars, and it's also for a

good cause. So just a lot of things all bundle together. If this goes over welled, John, We'll be doing several of them next year for charities and individuals or families that need help. Very nice, Tom, thanks for putting your heart and soul into this. Well, thanks for having us on. Yeah, absolutely again, it's coming up. It's not tomorrow, but it's next Wednesday, the twenty second, which is the day before Thanksgiving.

every day. Whether you buy these weird gifts or not, it's worth checking out just for a smile. Weird Gift of the Day dot com. That's Weird Gift of the Day dot com. Time out for this day in Sue Falls history, brought to you by the Sux Falls Fun Page, West Sue Studios and Sunny ninety three eight point three. It was on this day, November fourteenth, nineteen forty, the Sport Ball opens its doors for the first time at Sue Falls. Not in the building you know it in now on

Burnside, but downtown, right in the heart of Sue Falls. It's amazing as we researched Sue Falls past, just how many new businesses were started in the nineteen thirties and the nineteen forties, during what historians call the Great Depression. Well, it would seem the founders of the Sport Bowl found the perfect way to fight that depression with good old family fun in a bowling alley.

A line of local owners have kept the business open since the doors first open back in nineteen forty, from the always flamboyant Joe Floyd Senior, to both Frank Maltes Senior and Frank Maltese Junior, then Al Stephen, Dave Parker, mel Van Lear, Andy Anderson and Jeremy Sonfeld. At over eighty years old, we wish Sport Bowl a happy birthday and hope they're here for another eighty

years. This day in Sue Falls history has been brought to you by the Sue Falls fun Page, West Sue Studios and Sonny ninety three point three Give you self fund crediting.
