The show is hosted by local Zach Drash, very very funny guy. We've got Scott Putnam and Julie Jordall as well, and then Steve, you've been doing comedy for a bit now, how long have you been doing stand up comedy? Oh my gosh, wow.
In February it will be thirty three years, Holy cow. And back when you were when you first started in comedy, they were like a TV was still in black and white, wasn't it just kidding, it wasn't that long ago. But you know, it's funny you say that because I think abot how many things have changed because they didn't have cell phones, they didn't have computers. We had computers. We didn't have the internet, right, I started in nineteen ninety one, so it was a whole different world. But
it was in color. That's fare we had computers. And if you did Oregon Trail, we all died of dysentery. That's what we had back then. Kids. So yeah, so let's talk a little bit about what we're going to see on stage at the Icon. The Icon events hal And Lounge and Sue Falls on Saturday. Tell me a little bit about your style of comedy. Well, you know, it's always an interesting question because people always say, you know, they go, what is your act about? This
comedy is listening. It's really hard to describe. But it's observational and it's and it's it's personal, right, So it's a it's autobiographical, observational, and it's it's basically, you know, the rantings and ravings of a of a fifty year old man. I guess you'd want to say, who doesn't who hasn't accepted that he's that he's that age, right, I can get
behind this. I like everything I'm hearing so far. Yeah, you just need to know how the world has changed so much and he any and it happened overnight, and you just don't understand what's going on with the world today. Have you told any kids to get off your damn lawn yet? That's all I want to know. If I had a lawn, I would do it every day? Are you kidding me? I live in an apartment, so I have had I've had told people like that have in a basement apartment
and it's uh, that's actually a joke. I tell it whatever. They call it garden level, but you know, right, garden level, you know, as opposed to you know, shallow grave, I guess apparently is what that doesn't. Yeah, that is good and the brochure, right, But I had I've had told kids to stop, you know, screaming outside my window. It's a g I have one window. Can you step away from it? For goodness sakes? Screaming over there? Yeah, for goodness
stakes. So Steve is going to be in Sioux Falls. It's at a place called the Icon Event Haul and Lounge, I was just there for a comedy show last weekend. It's a great facility for this, And again, if you're looking for something fun to do, it's this Saturday, November fourth. The show starts at nine, the door is open at eight thirty.
And the thing is nice. They've got food, they've got drink, all kinds of stuff, so you can come early, get like really good seats, and then take in not one, not two, not three, but four very funny comics and you've got quite the tour you're on right now? Where are you right now? Because you're heading from one place to another? Where are you doing comedy currently? And I am always doing stuff in somewhere, you know, like last week, just last week alone, I was
in North Carolina, Indiana, and Pennsylvania in that order. Wow, which doesn't make a lot of sense. So I know it doesn't make any sense, but I'm bouncing around. I'll be day before I do your show. I'll be and Fargo. You know, I'm just everywhere. I love that. So if you would like to catch Steve Sabo, he'll be in Sue Falls this Saturday. And again I'm gonna put a link to make it really easy to find tickets, but you can find all of the show information at
Sue Fallscomedy dot com. And again, when you go there, you're gonna see this. I'm assuming this is you. This smiling face on the poster here? Is that you with the black shirt? Is that a smile? Is this a mugshot? Steve? What do we have going here? I actually like that picture, but it's too of a scowl. I think, I think it's an intense stare. But you know what, this looks like the kind of guy that's gonna tell me stuff that's gonna gonna make me laugh.
So I like that. That's my hope. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be fun. Well again, I appreciate you taking the time to chat with us, and I hope we'll get a chance to see you on Saturday. It'll be fun. That sounds great, man, all right, Steve is gonna be in Sue Falls this Saturday. Again. It's a comedy show
that everything kind of starts at eight thirty. That's when the doors open, show us at nine, and there's, like I said, four different comics, Zach Rash, Scott Putnam, Julie Jordall, and then Steve Saba, who we've just been chatting with It's at the Icon Events Haul and Lounge. You can still get your tickets all of the details at Sue Fallscomedy dot com and I've got a link as well at Facebook dot com, slash Sunny Radio and Facebook dot com, slash Sue Falls News at Weird Gift of the Day
dot com. Well, how hope you get ready for all the fun holidays throughout the year with fun, silly and just playing weird gift ideas for your friends. It was on this day, November two, eighteen eighty nine, more than two twenty years after the first petition for statehood, President Benjamin Harrison on this Day finally made South Dakota the thirty ninth or the fortieth state of
the Union. In an impromptu move during the ceremonial signing of the bills that would officially make South Dakota and North Dakota states, President Harrison covered up the bills, shuffled them around, and signed one, then signed the other, leaving no possible clue as to which state was officially created first. So while North Dakota claims to be the thirty ninth state and South Dakota was delegated fortieth, we all know how younger brothers are. President Harrison actually has a long
history with South Dakota. A decade before he became President of the United States, Senator Harrison was an ally of prominent Sioux false citizen R. F. Pettigrew. He also happened to be the congressional delegate in Washington, d c. Representing the Dakota Territory in the early eighteen eighties, when Pettigrew and a few friends in the southern half of the territory wanted to break up the land by creating the state of Dakota in the south and the Territory of North Dakota
in the north. They turned to Senator Harrison to back the idea and lent his political cloud in des There are rumors that Senator Benjamin Harrison may have even visited Sioux Falls and other towns in the Southern Dakota territory that would have been in the early eighteen eighties, possibly making him the first eventual US president to step foot in the state of South Dakota. That would be before young Teddy
Roosevelt got here. In eighteen eighty three. Harrison backed away from the idea of breaking up the territory when Governor Neamiyah Ordway strongly opposed the plan and began making waves in DC. But all is well, that ends well, and now we have two twin states.
