It's getting kind of weird because the writers strike is going on on the strike in Hollywood. So I've got several people that I've scheduled interviews with and you know, then all of a sudden we had, you know, the strike that came on, and like the one today. Alicia Witt is who I'm gonna be talking with. We can't talk about a lot of them movies
and TV shows and stuff. She was on the mask Singer. We can talk about that. But here's the thing that's kind of cool. Because of her appearance on The Masked Singer, she decided we're going to put out some music. So we're going to kind of talk about our music today on a Movie Star Monday. Does that It just seems weird to me, but anyway,
I appreciate that she actually still is doing the interview. There are a bunch of interviews that I had scheduled that they canceled them completely because they're like, I gotta be careful because if I talk about this or if I talk about that, I could actually get in trouble. So and again, I understand, you know, I don't want to get anybody in trouble ever, But I'm hoping we get to continue doing Movie Star Monday. We've got one coming up today, and I have one scheduled for next week, and I'm
hoping that we'll still get to do that. But I'll tell you it's getting tougher to book Movie Star Monday guests right now because of the strikes. So again, as weird as that is, it's a thing. We try to do this once a week we get a little real estate update and thank you for joining us against her. It's pleasure, always fun. So we've been going through real estate myths. We've gone through the first seven, but we're up to real estate myth number eight. And real estate myth
number eight is what buying is better than renting. As painful as that is to say, one, I'm a realtor, there are periods in time in your life that it may not make sense. If you're going to be in someplace for a very short time, you're probably better off to rent. And the reason being is there's costs assotociated with purchasing and selling. They're just are, and if it's going to be a very temporary thing, then go ahead
and rent. Otherwise you're going to get frustrated. And sometimes those costs are not you're not going to really have any savings at all. Nice. Well, and I love that you're honest about that. That's that's one of those things that you know, some people would say, no, it's always better to buy, you should buy, You should buy because that's better for me. Well, no, do what's best for them. And I love that about Brent. What is real estate myth number nine? The real estate agents
get paid big money. Oh yeah, I see you lightened cigars one hundred dollar bills. Okay, I've never seen what is one hundred dollar bill? I like that check may look really big, but once you start dividing out the costs, yeah, nobody pays for my gas. Yeah, nobody pays for the tires, nobody pays for the repairs, nobody pays for the insurance. Nobody pays you know. It's it's not like there's benefits that come outside to that. Everything is paid from that, including my admin. I pay
her salary. So it gets divided up really quickly, and so it's not as glamorous as a lot of people think it is. You just make it look good that's all real estatement Number ten. No advantage to having a real estate agent. Oh, I disagree with that. There's definitely an advantage. Wellviously, if it's the right agent, like Brent Baker. Well, I
appreciate that. The reality is there's certain information that we can get that while it may or may not be available to the public, we have done this enough times that we should be able to interpret or be able to understand some things and explain some things. It's not just the access to the lock boxes that realtors have and we get you in the door. A good realtors is going to be able to identify some things as you walk up to the house.
I'll help you understand some things and also what's customary and represent you in the transaction. I think that that's an area where some people struggle. Some people are very gifted at drawing and being artists or singing, but they may not be good when it comes to a business transaction. And that's what home
purchase is. It's business, and you need to know what you can do legally and ethically, what you can't, what your requirements are, and that's our job is to walk you through that process to be your partner going through that from start to finish, and I think that's really important. The good realtor, if you have the right realtor, makes all the difference in the world. It's like if I was going to climb Mount Everest, if I was going to do it on my own, pretty good chance, I'm probably
not coming down. But if I have somebody that's done this over and over and over and they know what they're doing, and they know where to take this turn and that turn and make sure you don't step over there, I have much better chances of making it down. So when you work with a realtor who has done this before or like brand, how many times have you done how many homes have you sold? You even know? Don't you don't have you don't have a tally. I sold seventy eight homes. No,
it's way more than that, But I think that's really cool. So if somebody is looking for somebody, we're going to tell them how to get a hold of you. But you have a bonus tip here, a bonus myth that we're going to add to the bottom of this list as well. And
what is that? Quite often, and it's probably more typical of the first time home buyer or somebody who has not purchased a home in many, many years, and just as they need to qualify for a mortgage, Yeah, there are certain conditions that are required that the property beat you that they're buying. So if you have a VA loan, the property conditions are fairly strict.
Yeah, and so the house with a rotted siding and you know, window sills literally that you can put your hand through, those aren't going to qualify for that type of mortgage. There are just certain standards that each mortgage has, So there's some homes that are going to pretty much only be for a cash buy. There are, and that's a little bit of a shock.
Yeah, but it's also for their protection. Well, if you're getting a mortgage and they're backing that mortgage and they're saying, we believe in you, but they also have to believe in the property too. Correct. Very nice.
