We're going to talk about Vacation Bible School and they've got this coming up next week. It starts on June nineteenth. First of all, Laura, thanks for taking the time to chat with me about this. Absolutely, John, thank you so much. So let's talk about VBS at UGM. See all these abbreviations here. We'll do at asap. So anyway, I'm a doric. I'm sorry this starts on Monday. Let's talk about what Vacation Bible School is for maybe somebody that has not heard of this and they're not familiar.
Sure, Vacation Bible School is for kids age five to eleven and what they get to do. They get to come to UGM and learn about Jesus through worship craft, Bible story. We're also going to have a free lunch for kids. But this is just a really great time to connect with kids in the community and build new friendships. What are the age groups for or Vacation Bible School? It is age five to age eleven, and this is
something that I've heard of. It's been around quite a while. Has UGM been doing this for quite a while actually, you know what, it's been I believe about ten years since they've done it, and so we are just bringing it back and we're super excited about it. Well, I'm excited that you're bringing this back. It's a great program. And I know a lot of kids that have gone through Vacation Bible School that they get a lot out
of it. It's a it's a wonderful thing. And have you been involved in doing something like this in the past, Laura, Yes, yep. I have actually been a kids pastor for about twenty years and so we I've done VBS camps throughout the last twenty years. So and it's just really cool to see kids come alive and learn about Jesus. To be excited about it. I think that's really cool. If somebody would like to get some more information or maybe even sign up to a ten what is the first step?
Do they go to a website to do this or how do they find more info? Yes, they can go to our UGM website or they can go on to our UGM Facebook page and all the registration should be on there and they can just find their kids up. Zetlitz was born. Doctor Zetlitz was one of the first physicians in Sioux Falls, and he was a founding member of the Sioux Falls Hospital, which would later become Sioux Valley Hospital and eventually become Sandford Hospital. His real claim to fame is something much bigger, though. Once upon a time he ordered a few dozen baby birds from Asia to raise in a small pen outside of his
home. He fed them, he groomed them, and he watched over them until they were big enough and strong enough to be released into the wild.
It took a few tries, but eventually those birds went into the wild and reproduced, and their species multiplied until they were so prevalent they became the official bird of the status South Dakota.
