You're listening to the John and Heidi Show Bonus Hour. If you miss any of the program, you can find a podcast at the bottom of the page at Johnny radio dot com. Thanks for listening to The John and Heidi Show Bonus Hour. Heidi is actually in the studio. Usually by this time of the day you take off for a bit and so, hey, welcome back. How you doing. Uh huh, Well, I'm glad you're here because I wanted to talk about what we got and we snapped some photos and we

posted them on the interweb last night. I think this is really cool. The company Jones Soda Jones soda Company. Yeah, they had sent me a thing telling me about this new thing they do called my Jones. These are so neat and they said, hey, would you and Heidi like to be on a bottle? I was like, we're influencers, baby. I don't think kids love Jones, so do you too? You know what, It's been around since the nineties. I remember when it first came out. Here's

the thing I've always liked about it. Their bottles are all very cool, very unique. A friend of ours, Brittain Hackey from Susie, Iowa. He had a photo that was featured on Jones soda bottles who went all over the country and it's it's a photo of some black and white checkered vans. So I love those because I wear those shoes. But again, I just want to say thank you to the folks at Jones Soda. They sent us a case of soda with our faces on it. How cool is that?

So I told Heidi what I wanted to I'm like, what are we doing with these? But I was like, here's what I want to do. I want to get a photo in a bubble bath like that. Let's not do the whole bud light scenario. But now we She said, no, that's not what this is anyway. This is actually something that you can do as well. So it's part of a thing that they do called my Jones.

So Jones Soda Company has the ability now to make if you say, like for a wedding, or if you say for an engagement party, or if there's a crisp miss party, if there's any reason that you go, hey, I want to get some bottles with my face and a graduation would have been awesome. Yea. But here's what when they send it to me

This is what a lot of people are doing. Is like, uh, when when they have a gender reveal party, instead of doing the whole you know, blow something up, they give everybody Jones and then it's on right on the label. So there's so many things. If you go to the website, I've got a link to it at Facebook dot com slash Sunny Radio and Facebook dot com slash Sue Falls News, and we're going to post it on the John and Heidi Show page as well. But we again, I

think it's really cool that they did this. We had to make it. They did the orange soda in the Sunny Radio logo and then they'd ask for some photos from us, from John and Heidi, so the rest are silly photos from us. We've got a link where you can get your own Jones Soda company soda from my Jones and then also you can when you're on there, you can also see the photos that we posted last night. I think it's really really cool. I've got a link at Facebook dot com. I'm

slash Sunny Radio and Facebook dot com slash Sue Falls News. What a year with prices on everything going up, it's more important than ever to have a better credit card. Excited to visit with a guest right now, Dwight Twilli. Dwight, how are you, sir? I am great? How are you? John? I am fantastic, big fan, love your music, and I'm excited to chat with you here. You've got all kinds of fun stuff you're doing, but you've got the best of Dwight Twilly. And this is coming out. It

says volume one. That means there's more to come, right, That's right, No brag, just fact. So the first volume is from ninety nine to twenty sixteen, the also years. What are some of the songs we're going to find in this first volume. There's no place block Home, which was one of our current favorites. It's hard to be a Rebel and could be loved. Those are three flip smacking. So you got some good stuff on this. And the good news is this is just the beginning, So

you'll have more volumes in the future. And I've got a video here that I had a chance to watch. This is amazing. Now let's talk about how you got started in the music business. What was it the first drew you to this way. I'll just you know, like so many musicians, it was seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. So that was a moment when you saw them you said, hey, I could do that. That looks like a good job. Yeah, it's a good gig if you can get

it right. Yeah. And what was your first big song that when you when this song came out, you go, hey, this this just might make it. I might actually be able to make a living doing this. I'm on Fire was kind of very similar. It was the first thing that we ever released became a biggin And what was that like? When you you put out a song and people listen to it, they liked it, and they're buying these records. That's got to be kind of just the coolest feeling

ever to have people liking what you're doing. Yeah, just be driving down the street and hear the song that you just recorded on the radio. That was a rush. You're still making music today, and over the years, would you say that the music industry has gotten better for musicians or has it gotten more difficult for musicians? It's I think everything has got more difficult for

everybody. Economy is kind of tough. Every everything's gotten part. But if you're lucky, if you get to do music, and you're like us, you've got your own little studio locked away where nobody can tell you to lead. Yeah, recording the thing that's interesting over the years, all this technology.

You know, there was a time if you wanted to make it big, you had to have a record label, you had to have producers, you had you know, all of these things, these other people involved, an agent, all of this stuff just for that song to finally make it out to the people. And nowadays, with social media and all this technology, you know, you and I could right now sing a song and hit a button. It could go to millions of people in minutes. That's just crazy to me. Yeah, it is. And I would have to let

you do all the singing, otherwise it wouldn't go to millions. I'm not that good. So this new album that's out right now, where can folks go to find a copy of this? All your normal places of course Amazon, And it's called the Best of Dwight Twilly the Tulsa Years nineteen ninety nine through twenty sixteen. And people can stream this too if they want to take a listen. Let's talk about some of the fun things that you had a chance to do, because you've had a chance to work with some amazing people

over the years as well. Tom Petty, What was it like working with Tom? You know, we were, you know, kind of in the same boat. We were both on Shelter Records, and we both have our own little bands. We had to make sure they got fed, had gaged to do and all that. And there was a little studio in Hollywood, at the Shelter Studio that we would share, you know, some dis I'd be cutting in there and other nights should be Tom would be working on some

I remember coming in one night He's playing a new track. It seemed like it was long, but it was good. I just says that the song was fading out in the very insade. Mike Campbell was doing a little lick on a guitar and was like Nan, and I said, it's Tom, you know. I think I think that's your hook right there. Nothing much more was said about it, except that I heard later that they went back in the studio that night and rerecorded the whole song featuring the Mike Campbell lick

nice no lick. That's awesome. Well, the new album is out right now, the best of Dwight Twilly that Tulsa years. Thank you so much for taking some time to chat with us about it. I'm gonna throw a link to make it easy for folks to find the album. I appreciate it. Thank you again our guest today, Dwight Twilly, Thanks for listening to the John and Heidi Show. It was this day May twenty fifth, eighteen nineties. One of the most hilarious scenes from a small prairie takes place in Sioux Falls. Now here's a quick background. Then I'll include the report from the city attorney at the time, Dana Bailey, as written

in his book History of Minnihaha County. So, the city had contracted for an electric trolley system to run out of Sioux Falls to the new community of East Sioux Falls. Originally, it was agreed that the trolley would cross the river at ninth Street, but due to the passing of a bond to construct the first Tenth Street Viaduct, the Electric Trolley company convinced the city to amend the agreement for the trolley to cross the river on the new viaduct at tenth

Street. Easy enough. Well, while waiting for the construction of the viaduct, the Electric Trolley Lines contract with the city went past its deadline without laying a single track in town. The trolley company's officers approached the city and asked for an extension, and it sounded like no problem, but one city commissioner suggested having the city's attorney look over the contract to be sure an extension was

in order. While there was another trolley company already operating in the city, and this one was a horse drawn trolley, and they saw the lapsed contract as an opportunity. So Sunday morning, May twenty fifth, eighteen ninety,

this day in Sioux Falls history. Before the city attorney could even look over the contract and advise the city commissioners, the horse drawn trolley company got a bunch of workers together and began digging up the middle of Tenth Street to lay tracks for their own trolley line out to East Sioux Falls, Claiming they were just extending their lines and didn't need to consult the city. They may have gotten away with it, except people getting ready for church on Sunday morning heard

the noise of shovels clanging and the man working. They were shocked to see the brand new street being ripped to pieces. When they came out to see what was going on, the mayor was alerted and came to the scene and began berating the work not for digging up the street, not for making a public disturbance, not even for digging without a permit, but for breaking the sabbath and setting a poor public example. While all of the workers just ignore

the mayor and kept right on working. So the mayor went to the home of the owner of the trolley company and knocked on the door. When nobody answered, he walked in, went right into the man's bedroom and shook him awake. The boss finally agreed to make his workers stop until Monday morning.

While the fight between these two trolley companies was interesting, in the end, the courts and the city decided the electric trolley was best for the future of the city, and they also decided the horse drawn trolley company had overstepped their agreement triang lay tracks along the new viaduct without permission. The electric trolley line was completed in just nineteen days, with the first trip being made from Sioux

Falls to East Sioux Falls on Friday, June thirteenth, eighteen ninety. This day in Sioux Falls History has been brought to you by Sioux Falls Funpage dot Com and Sunny ninety three point three. Here's your market being minute for Thursday, May twenty fifth, brought to you by Genesis goold Ira

dot com. Equity markets retreat Wednesday as market participants gauge the impact of high interest rates, high inflation, and the growing chance the US will enter another government shutdown. Debt sealing negotiations are at the forefront of everyone's mind and are helping drive the markets, but it's not what we'll bring the SNP five hundred down. A growing number of companies are indicating second quarter or second half weakness

that is taking a toll on the earnings outlook. If there's anything that will move the SNP five hundred, it is the outlook for earnings. The next two days will be a test for a market. The S and P five hundred continues to show resistance at the forty one fifty level, and the PC Price Index is due out Friday. The index is not expected to give the Fed much reason to pause and may keep equities from moving higher. With a

summer fast approaching, the odds of a summer rally are diminishing.
