Thanks for listening to the John Enn Heidi Show. On a Monday, we have Dylan from Wheelchair Adventures joining us. And Dylan, You've got some exciting stuff going on today at the Barrel House and who falls, So tell me a little bit about what's happening today. Thanks John, thanks for having me on here. So today we're doing a fundraiser with Barrel House for a nonprofit

that I started here a couple months ago called Wheelchair Adventures. So with Wheelchair Adventures, we got some really big goals to try to help other people with disabilities to enjoy the outdoors, whether that's hunting, fishing, hiking, kind of all the above. We're just really looking to try to help people get outdoors again. And so let's talk a little bit about how this organization was started, because this is something that's near and dear to you personally, right,

Yeah. Absolutely. So I was in a car accident that I attempted to suicide about ten years ago and broke my neck and so I am now quadriplegic in a wheelchair, and so myself when I kind of got hurt, like a lot of other people, just assumed a lot of the things that I wouldn't be able to do anymore. You know, I never thought I'd

be able to go hunting or fishing or things like that again. So luckily I had a couple of really good friends that kind of pushed me and helped me get into the outdoors again, and we started finding adaptive equipment that was able to make it work. And now we just do whatever we can to enjoy the outdoors. And at one point you served in the military as well, Is that right? I did not personally know. Oh, okay, I was thinking is but but there are some folks in your group that are

that are veterans, Is that right? Yeah? Definitely still help out anyone from vet trends to children's pull disabilities of all the day above. And this is an organization that when when you talk about, you know, helping people locally, this is all local people right now. This is like, you know, literally getting started. This is still fairly new, but it's a

brand new thing in the Sioux Falls area. And if you're saying what can I do to help people in this area, Wheelchair Adventures is definitely a good option because it's helping people right here in this area, right. Yeah. Absolutely, So with trying to get people outdoors. We're also trying to start a loan closet. So we've got a couple of recumbent bikes now that we're looking to borrow out to people, as well as an adaptive kayak and a

couple other things. So yeah, there's any kind of resources we can help anybody with to get outdoors or anything like that. If somebody would like to learn more about Wheelchair Adventures, how do they find you? Guys? Is there a website? They go to a Facebook page? What's the best way to go and find more about you? Yeah, so we have a website www dot wheelchair adventures dot org. We also have a Facebook page that is

underwheelchair Adventures. Very nice. So Wheelchair Adventures and let's talk again about how they can help today, because today is a simple way to help you literally just show up and eat right. Yeah. Yes, a barrel house does a really cool thing usually on Mondays. They set it up with some nonprofits. So ten percent of all their proceeds from food and including alcohol beverages,

we'll go back to our organization to help us get outdoors again. So if you are maybe wanting to help and you're listening, to this going, dude, I would like to help. Delanette is a neat thing. There's so many ways you can help, but a really simple, really easy way today is just have lunch at the Barrel House, have dinner at the Barrelhouse, go and have a drink after work at the Barrelhouse. And when you do that, in addition to having a good time, you're also helping a really

good cause. And do you know what time everything starts at the Barrelhouse, because you guys are going to like be there on hand today too, right, yep, yep, So we'll be the most of the day. So I'm just gonna start at eleven and then it goes all the way till midnight, so I'll be there most of the day and we'd love to chat with anybody that wants to swing through. Very nice, Dylan, thank you so much for your time today. I appreciate it. Thank you, John,

I really appreciate it. Again. It's happening today at the Barrelhouse for Wheelchair Adventures. You can learn more about them. I'll throw a link on our Facebook page and we'll do everything we can to connect to you. If you'd like to help again at Facebook dot com slash Sunny Radio and Facebook dot com slash Sioux Falls News
