This week I interview John Statton, coach of the Brakettes. The Brakettes are the longest existing women's fastpitch softball team in the world. They are truly the top team of all times. Thank you for joining us in this weeks episode with Coach John Stratton. Coach Stratton coaches the Brackettes Fastpitch softball team. This team was formed in 1947 which makes them the longest existing fastpitch softball team to have ever existed! 11 members of ther team are former Olympians such as Dot Richardson, Cat Osterman, Joan Joyce, and many others. John began as a bat boy and feels lucky to have gotten to where he is today with the team.
Lack of sponsorship had crippled the sport in many ways, but Coach John hopes that the Pro Teams keep the love of the sport alive and bring in new passionate fans!
Coach John is asked what his favorite moment in his softball career was. He answers that his favorite moment was in 1958 when his wife played and Joan Joyce was the pitcher as well as when he managed in 1976 and he won a national title and many other moments!
