Episode description

The history of capitalism can be viewed as one in which more and more aspects of life are drawn within the scope of the adversarial relationship whereby the value created by living labour is appropriated by capital. This is an ongoing process in which technological change plays an important role. This presentation will look at some of the ways in which the current wave of digitalisation is leading to a marketisation and commodification of social reproduction.
