Episode description

The Salem witch trials involved a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts. The trials were characterized by mass hysteria, fear, and superstition. The accusations began with a group of young girls who claimed to be possessed and accused several local women of witchcraft. The trials resulted in the execution of 20 people and the imprisonment of many others.
