sometimes they're classy romance how we made it to classy not today I mean you're like literally not at all let's set expectations up front I I wouldn't call it that yeah what what book are we reviewing today today it's called Sacrifice by Addison Jane it is a motorcycle club romance o our first MC so our last episode was our first Omega verse and this is our first MC look at us MC making big moves into new universes I love that for us yeah it's a sign of growth what are we growing
into it doesn't matter it doesn't we're just continuing to grow we're not being stagnant we're pushing ourselves we aren't we read these books anyway we just haven't outlined them yet so this wait did you say Addison Jane or James Jane because I'm pretty sure there's an Addison James that I've read as well just feels like a yeah this is Addison Jane got it yeah two first seemes um so I have been wanting to do a motorcycle club for a while but the issue is that they have so many Side
characters and so much other stuff going on that it's really really difficult to get a good outline well cuz I feel like we've talked about this before every MC book I've read it is like setting up the universe for the rest of the books within their Motorcycle Club and it's so much yeah and I'm like I am having to learn like 50 people's names in this first book yeah this isn't fun so this one I thought would be good to do because it's less like that it's less
about the club um the club obviously is important but it's it's more about the relationship than it is about the club itself which is helpful um so in the prologue we open with Hawk which is our main guy oh that's funny two episodes in a row with a hawk with a hawk does yours have an e on the end of it no oh okay yeah so mine was a little fancier with the E I just said it wasn't classy did I stutter Chelsea I thought I said the expectations of this book appropriately Hawk with no e talk with
no e okay so I won't make that mistake again so when I started this book I'm just going to get into it so you can experience it the way I experienced it Hawk is being dragged to the front of a church by his dad how old is he 14 okay uh is I think it's not super clear he's a kid though yeah and um in front of an entire congregation the church is full all the pews are full his dad is dragging him to the front and my notes say some kind of cult situation he's the 14th child of
37 and his dad has seven wives oh so we learn this from Hawk's internal dialogue as his dad is like hauling him in front of their whole Community to the front of the church is there anyone in their Community outside of his siblings I've been to churches that cannot seat that many people so it appears to be a large community got it yeah yeah but God damn and the whole congregation is just watching him be dragged to the pulpit and there's this huge box that's like covered by a
sheet and the prophet tells him that he has to be punished for questioning their teachings this might be a is the prophet his dad or is the prophet a separate person the prophet's a separate person so his dad is like delivering him to the prophet for punishment for punishment and um Hawk realizes his younger brother who is younger by a negligible amount they might as well be twins kind of deal betrayed him because Hawk had been questioning the church's teachings and
was talking to his brother about it and his brother turned around and told the elders so they reveal that the box is full of snakes full of like very poisonous snakes and the test is that they intentionally make the snakes bite you and if you die then you were a sinner and irredeemable but if you live then God Has Smiled upon you or whatever why does this feel like it's bringing up Church [ __ ] for me in a way that I like wasn't like when you told me you're like
I'm going to like outline this like MC cult book I was like okay sounds good and now I'm like oh wow we're really getting into um it's dark yeah yeah it's dark because Hawk Hawk has seen this happen before this is not a thing that happens all the time but it happens regularly enough that he has seen it before and he has never seen someone survive it so like like the whole church just watches people die when they step out of line and the prophet is unhappy and then they're like well I guess since
they died they had it coming yep basically God just didn't like that one so Hawk is like okay how I like no emotionally going into it is the whole book this dark no okay mm I was like it's fine either way I just need to know what we're stepping into so it like you'll see but no it it does get lighter um but and then darker as motorcycle romances often do yes but um he is kind of resigning himself to the fact that he's going to die all these men are bigger than him holding him down he
knows that like this is it and as he gets bitten the doors of the church like fly open and um a bunch of men in leather vests show up and one of them picks him up and Carries him out of the church as he is like dying he's like feels like he's on fire because he's already been bitten so that's the end of the prologue what a start I know wow I was like I didn't know that this motorcycle romance was going to bring about religious trauma triggers for me but here we are or our listeners and we
apologize sorry I'm so sorry we didn't know it was going to bring stuff up for us either so it's we're just going to be on a journey all together all together yeah so now we're in chapter one and Hawk is getting home from Sunday lunch with his Club um his cousin always Cooks um and uh his uncle Bishop is the one who rescued him and took him in after the whole incident with the church and we find out later I'm just going to go ahead and give it cuz it was really
confusing Bishop is his biological Uncle so Bishop also grew up in the cult and ran away when he was a teenager but always stayed kind of nearby for his nieces and nephews and someone warned him what was happening and so he showed up to rescue Hawk thank you for connecting those dots before I tried to connect them myself and failed you're welcome okay so actual Uncle yes and he essentially raised him after that so um Hawk is the vice president of the club um and they are currently opening a
sports bar they're very much into like expanding their business interests and making sure that the club is stable and doing well financially it also seems like real businesses yes they are legit they are like legit okay yeah they're legit um so his cousin tells him um like there's some guys out back that are making me kind of uncomfortable so this is a standing Sunday lunch that the whole club comes to okay and his cousin cie is a a real sweetheart and she's like something something's not right
with these guys um and it turns out that they are the new security for the bar like they're the bouncers that his uncle has hired for the bar and his uncle is like listen he's going to be real easy to manage cuz he is [ __ ] stupid so like he's huge and he's intimidating but he's not all that smart so like wait who's not all that the the new muscle for the bar the bouncer all all of the new the bouncers how many are there three I think but one is really the only one that matters okay
um and so um he's like Hawk's like you know what this is not my problem like I'm just leaving it alone right as long as he stays away from my cousin and doesn't like hurt anybody it's not my problem okay and he starts kind of walking away and then a prospect which for anybody who's not read a motorcycle romance prospects are like the pledges of the club for like a year or so to prove themselves paying their dues to try and get full membership exactly so a prospect comes
out and he's like hey uh Hawk you might want to come out front my friend like there's trouble and Hawk's like what now like I literally I'm just trying to mind my own business like what now so now we switch to Missy's point of view so Missy is real pissed like righteously pissed off off and she is fully aware that marching up to a bunch of bikers is a very bad idea but she's like I am doing it anyway because that's how angry I am and she sees the guy that she's
looking for and she tells him to stay away from her family and if he ever comes near them again she will [ __ ] him up and then she pulls out a bat and beats the [ __ ] out of him like to the ground um like takes out his knee like off the rip and all the bikers pull guns on her and um she knows she's like okay so um message has been delivered it's time for me to go she's like I've done what I needed to do okay sorry I just want to make sure I'm fully so how old is Hawk now how many years
has this been it's like 20 I think so he's like in his early 30s oh okay he's not 20 where it's been 6 years it has been 20 where he is now in his like early 30s his cousin is cie yes cie said that the new security people made her feel a little weird and he was like he seems like an idiot but we'll we'll be fine but then as that's happening someone also comes and gets Hawk and is like you need to get your ass out front and we switch to Missy who is out front
and why Hawk needs to get there because she's beating one of the motorcycle club members with a bat telling him to stay the [ __ ] away from her family correct and now everyone has pulled guns on her and she's like okay so like now's a good time for me to leave so I've done what I needed to do want to overstand my welcome yes you get it you're tracking okay um because that's that was the energy of this book from the start where I was like what because so much just happens and then
the context is filled in later and so it's a lot to keep track of it is um but still less somehow than most other other motorcycle romances that I've read so um she's like okay um so now you know do not come near my daughter again I've enjoyed this time we've had together have a great day or don't and like starts to leave um because apparently the guy that she beat up beat the [ __ ] out of her ex while her her four-year-old daughter was there like in front of her dad he
like this motorcycle club member showed up and beat the [ __ ] out of him and she's like frankly I don't care why my ex is a piece of [ __ ] yeah he had it coming don't do it in front of my kid right she's like I'm absolutely sure that he deserved it yeah but my daughter didn't need to see that that's not acceptable totally fair yeah totally fair um so uh she goes to leave when another guy shows up and says to take the guy who's now rolling around on the ground in pain like drag him away um
and um the guy is super hot it's Hawk he's super hot and she's like try not to focus on that cuz she's like I literally just beat up a member of his Club I need to go like how old is she um I think she's like 20 2 24 oh yeah so substant substantially younger than ha he is so it's not super clear how many years have passed since this whole incident happened but he is at least in his late 20s so they have I would say between five and 10 years difference I was more thinking of her
being a mother of a four-year-old at 22 and more of like that like oh okay MH so that's the other thing about this B is there are little moments where it's like oh that's going to come back and it never does you know that that saying um I can't remember the quote who said it but it's like if a gun shows up in act one it will go off by act three that is not true for this book like the gun never goes off well now I know you're like as I'm emotionally preparing for all of it and
you're like it's just not going to happen Chelsea right it's fine and so yeah anyway so um he starts following her down the driveway um and saying that he will reinforce the message that absolutely that should not have happened that you know they don't do stuff like that in front of women and children like he will make sure that that's understood um and she says well good because if it happens again I won't be bringing a bat next time like I'm not [ __ ] around
right now and um he calls her baby and promises that um so what percent of the way through the book are we where the first baby showed up like halfway through the second chapter really like real quick 2% of the way through the book that might be it might be a record a record yeah um and he's like listen baby if he pulls [ __ ] like that again he'll be lunch for the fishes and she says um if you call me baby again the fish will also have dinner and gets in her car and drives
away that is Miss's energy she's not here for it she's not interested I'm a fan of Missy at this point Miss's like I don't care that you're good-look I have larger things in my life that I'm concerned about and worried about like this is not worth it I have [ __ ] to do and you aren't on the list like get out of my face bold move calling someone baby the yes although I guess to his credit did she ever say her name was Missy no he has no idea who she is he had to call
her something sure could could have been a lot worse than baby that's also true that is also true even though she just beat the [ __ ] out of someone it could have been a lot worse than baby it's also true um so we flash back to Hawk he is collecting a debt for the third time so their motorcycle club is not fully legit but they are mostly legit and one of the ways they make money is by buying debt from other people and then collecting it but not from like major obviously Banks or anything but
from local businesses they will buy debt I've never heard of a debt collector in that capacity before mhm mhm fascinating business model do you still get a discount are you buying it for pennies on the dollar I don't really know I have a lot of questions I don't they did not go into the business model but what does happen they don't they don't seem to I'm already getting the energy they are not concerned about most of my questions they're not they're not they're they
have other things they're worried about like trying to get this guy to [ __ ] pay for the third time and the guy um is like you can have my girlfriend though like I don't have any cash but you can have my girlfriend and Hawk is so done he just shoots the guy a lot and is like I've had enough like nope so that's the end of that hog say I don't collect women and children [ __ ] as he just like leaves with holes yeah basically I have a moral compass there's a line and I think we just learned what
hawks is and H and I have different lines yeah yeah and you know I'm not going to comment on Hawk's line it is his right um everyone is allowed to have their own true north correct yeah yes so the guy that got the [ __ ] beat out of him by Missy is with him and he's limping um and um his name is Drew and he says that Missy has grown up a lot and Hawk is like I got a name like yes and Drew goes on and on explaining that like her ex is a piece of [ __ ] and she would work like two or three jobs at
a time even while she was pregnant while he just cheated on her all over town and um he's like a big talker cuz he just keeps going and says that she currently uh is a stripper at a club called The Rush um so very convenient for Hawk who wanted to just had a lot of questions and Intrigue about his girl Missy very much and Drew's just like unprompted here you go buddy here's everything you ever needed to know including her social security number sh allow me to share and
my notes literally say Hawk now has plans for the evening so so we're back to miss she is flipping out because her baby daddy she's pretty sure stole her daughter's epip pen and sold it um and she needs to replace it but she is short on the money for it um her daughter um Katie is allergic to eggs and it's really really bad and so she has to have an epip pen like at all times and um her daughter is currently sleeping in the dressing room of the club um as she talks to her best friend about the
situation and bestie whose name is Jim wants Missy to ask the other girls for money she's like just ask everybody for like a cool 20 or whatever and you can cover it like I know it's expensive but we want to be able to help you and Missy just won't do it and she knows she's going to have to ask her boss for money um which generally means she's going to have to give him a blowy or something to like get the money that she needs but her kid is the priority so she's like
I'll just do I I'll do what I have to do at this point like if it's a [ __ ] for an epip pin it's a [ __ ] for an epip pin and that's what I have to do 100% which is tragic it's horrible but also like the reality for a lot of people you know so she is especially with like the current UHC situation dude that is wild [ __ ] insane and that the fact that it's like not getting more coverage I know that's the part that's blowing my mind I'm like the number of disfranchised people who cannot afford
life and like a post that I saw was even commenting that they were like yeah I run like essentially a halfway house like a recovery house that is Insurance run and they're like I'm not getting paid rent MH like and I'm paying mortgages on they owned like 20 plus houses yep and like that hadn't even dawned on me mm it is and there like no one is talking about it I mean some people are but like not nearly as much as you would anticipate people talking about it yeah I
mean I could get on an entire Soap Box about the state of our healthc care in the United States and I won't but yes you're correct it's all a hot shitty mess and I sincer really doubt that the rush is giving missy good benefits so she's doing what she can you know I mean they're not doing a 3% 401K match no I don't I I don't think so I don't think they are probably at the fuzzy hole though at the strip club called beef um so when she gets to the office there are
men in there and they're from the MC and she's like oh [ __ ] maybe they changed their mind about like oops um but Hawk is introduced and um she's like basically ignoring all the men in the room and focused on her boss and asking him for a a a what is it an advance or whatever um and Hawk as she's asking interrupts and he's like I'll hire you and one other for a party that we're paying or that we're throwing next week I'll pay you up front um and she's like deal it does not seem like a hard sell
for her in this season and that feels like a very easy yeah in for him and he offers her like double what she needed and so she's like good deal thank you um and he's also thinking he got a good deal everybody's winning win-wins all around um and so um he uh is very much like uh domineering and like giving her orders about like this is what you're going to do and this is what it's going to be and this blah blah blah um and she usually doesn't like it when men speak to her
that way but she's into it bossy she's into it and it freaks her out a little bit she's like um and um so he pays her up front and like that is huge for her like that makes a huge difference for her so she's already feeling a lot less stress about everything um so the next day Hawk is at the park and his twin sister who is still in the cult meets up with him there every other week so they have like a standing date because they can't really talk um but they meet up every
single every other week um to check in with each other you really feel like someone would have caught on if it's supposed to be well it seems like they know it it seems like the cult is aware of what she's doing okay but it's not it's more like we're just not going to acknowledge it kind of thing um so she is pregnant again with twins this time so she already has I think three or four kids I mean it's a lot it's a lot happening and the cult believes that their savior will be born
with a cross birth mark so they are popping out as many kids as possible trying to find the one and Hawk is really concerned because the cult believes that twins are born cursed like they bad luck because one gets all the sin and one gets all the goodness so Grace got all the goodness and he got all the sin mhm and um Grace is his sister and she's like listen I know that you will protect them if they need it like I know who to call if something goes wrong they're
going to be okay it's like she lives in the cult but she knows but understands her reality yes okay yeah at this point she's unwilling to leave her children um and she does care very much about her husband even though it's a it was an arranged marriage situation she cares about him and she loves her kids and so she's like I'm I'm going to be where I am and I've accepted that so as they're talking they hear a man like screaming at somebody just like obscenities and just like super
aggressive sorry we're we're still at the strip club right no we're at the park where he was meeting his sister yep sorry I I was like I missed something and I felt like it was on me and it was you're right a lot we switched we switched entirely and I'm still stuck at the strip club and him and Missy are talking even though we've had a full ass conversation about Grace at this point I am thriving there are a lot of scene changes in fairness to you there are a
lot of scene changes I felt that way um when we just reviewed I think not like there are so many characters and you're like trying to like keep everyone's perspective that you're just like oh my gosh where did we just end up yes and it also always throws me when you can like change perspect like change to three different people's points of view and still be in the same scene yes I think that can be a little trippy especially when like trying to outline or review a
book yeah I just read this one is still just on me well a little but also I just read a book where they did this thing where like you had one perspective the whole way through the scene and then you started the next chapter and it was a different perspective but the same scene and so you were like back in time again and it was like ah like I don't I don't know what's happening yeah and I feel like some people do that where they're just like oh clarifying whatever little like
whatever moment and then moving on yes yeah it's always a little trippy though it is trippy all right so now there's shouting and screaming shouting and screaming at the park okay and when they look over it's a guy getting in Missy's face like Missy is at the playground with her daughter and this guy is like standing over her screaming saying that he's going to take Katie away from her um and like if you ever try this [ __ ] again or whatever we have no idea
what any of that means but um hot Go's [ __ ] bananas and pulls the guy away from her and then he realizes that it is her baby daddy so um Missy gets between them and is like Hawk you got to stop my daughter is here you have to stop right um there are children present we are at a public playground right now simmer yes so um the uh Baby Daddy finally leaves after Hawk makes several threats and then Katie is introduced to Hawk and she's super cute like she has in little
pigtails and like she's just very very cute and Grace comes over to play with Katie while Hawk and Missy talk and Missy is in tears saying that this happens all the time where like Katie's dad just becomes very verbally abusive towards her um and he Hawk like pulls her into a hug and they have a little moment um but she pulls back and very obviously like turns away from him to check on Katie like it's very obvious that Hawk is cute she enjoys his company but ultimately like her daughter is way
far and above more important obviously than this dude it should be right than this dude and he he actually like kind of likes that that she is not so like vapid and like fixated on like a man you know mhm um so she like wow she cared about her kid more than my dick priorities what a beautiful angel amazing you're like feels like the bar might be a little low you know what's amazing though this might be the first time we've had a bar set so low for a woman you know usually it's the man
a we are we are making all kinds of growth and progress today oh my God I love this for us the bar was so low for a woman congrats to us equality um so we flash forward to the weekend and Missy is working the party for the club they're celebrating the opening of the new bar so there's a lot of mix of people there there's a lot of the members but also employees and other people that they've invited to this party and she is only responsible for serving drinks and
she is loving she's not dancing she's not dancing she's just serving drinks with her best friend gem well honestly the funny thing is I was literally just sitting here thinking like I feel like Hawk is surprisingly chill having the girles into dance for the other dudes in the club so they are dancing but they're not stripping so like they're basically serving drinks and hyping the crowd and that's all they're doing oh right what a breeze Easy Money the easiest of money
yeah yeah um you're like cool you're a shot girl basically um so um everybody has been really great super respectful like she was a little bit nervous about being around an MC obviously also when that the last time she was there she she beat the [ __ ] out of somebody beat someone yeah yeah like I get where maybe you're like oop okay driveing back wonder how this is going to go I'll leave my bat in the car um so um uh like I said jeem is with her everybody's super respectful of her as
well like it's a very like positive energy and as the night goes on Hawk is very obviously watching her and he makes some moves and tells her to meet him later she's like I'm working and he's like you're going to meet me later thank you and um he continues to insist on calling her baby um and he says we knew that wasn't going anywhere I think like in our hearts if we were honest with ourselves we knew knew so she asks like why do you keep calling me that and he
says because nobody puts you in a corner and so so she starts calling him swayy oh gosh ironically and he doesn't appreciate it so she continues to do it um so she leaves him I don't even know what I would say if my husband ever called me baby and said it was cuz nobody put me in the corner like I don't know why that's striking me so hard I would be like are you going to do the lift because that's the only reason Ryan Gosling and Crazy Stupid Love where she like what's your move I do the
lift yes take him home I make him a drink I fit Dirty Dancing into the conversation I do the do the lift literally the only reason to say any comment about somebody putting me in a corner but anyway um so unless you're also quoting panic at the disc we just ran a whole gamut we really of Pop Culture you're welcome yeah that's why the people show up obviously um give the people what they want slightly not fully fleshed out pop culture references I am curious sometimes about
how many people catch all of them and how many are like I I don't and then we go so fast to the next one that they're like oh I got that one and like you know yeah I feel the same uh like as you know Golden Girls very near and dear to my heart but it's so funny CU I've loved the show since I was literally an elementary school and there are so many jokes you don't catch when you were in elementary school with a show like that but what was also funny is I was watching it just had it on in
the background when my parents were in town and my dad started laughing at a joke and he's like do you get why that joke was funny and I was like I don't even know who that was and it was this like very specific political sit situation from like 1990 that I was like yeah like NE didn't even dawn on me like heard the laugh track and just kind of like moved on and my dad like do you get why that was funny I was like nope watched the show for 30 years still have no idea why that joke
was funny I can still get joy from the show and not get every joke yes 1,000% yes of course I mean the exact same way they fit adult jokes into like kids movies the first time I realized watching cars that they flashed their headlights yep I was Ill prepared I was like oh cars is edgier than I thought edgier yeah Shrek is another one that had a lot more like dirty jokes in it that I was ready for yeah the number of kids things that we could just rewatch and be like wow
missed that joke oh and then the number of adult things we could also watch that well no wonder I missed that joke right good thing I missed that joke yeah probably better that I didn't get it yes my innocence was somewhat protected up until that point um but anyway so she leaves Hawk Missy leaves Hawk and goes out to continue working the party does she agree to meet him later or is he just continuing to tell her she will she's continuing to tell her that she will and she knows that
she's going to but don't think she like tells him she's like yeah right so um there's this guy out there that's being like a real douchebag to her and he's the only one that's given her trouble all night and he's is it the one she beat up no oh okay he's actually quite sweet to her he's like my bad Missy you were right I'm really sorry I shouldn't have done that in front of your daughter yeah why don't I get you a drink yeah he's like I really should have waited
until Katie was back with you and then I should have be so H say 2020 I'm so sorry I'll do better next time never happen again um but apparently like and she goes into this like later but um apparently the guy she beat up and her ex were super tight friends she has no idea what happened she has no idea why they fell out and we never know but apparently they were like Diehard besties and then Drew just beat the [ __ ] out of him one day and they were no longer friends wait
what I didn't even put it in my notes cuz it wasn't relevant to the story but that's like does Drew have his own book in the future I don't know I don't know CU I do wonder if some of the questions would get answered in future books you I don't know okay and we'll get to why I don't know because there's a reason why I'm really like I don't know that it will ever will'll ever get answer um but so she this guy who's being a dick smacks her ass hard like not like a a
gentle like baseball Pat but like hits her hard um and she tries to ignore it she's been working in strip clubs for a long time she's like I know how to handle this so she tries to ignore it but he grabs at her again and starts blowing smoke in her face cuz he's smoking and um she pops off at the mouth a little bit basically telling him off and um he goes to grab like between her legs and burns her with a cigarette cuz he does it with the hand that is holding a
smoke Burns her bad and a whole struggle ensues and Hawk shows up with some of the other guys and at this point no one realizes that she's been burned right her wrist is very clearly [ __ ] up from where he grabbed her really hard um but they don't realize the full extent of no they don't realize that she's actually like genuinely really hurt and so they one of the other guys like holds her back and Hawk just beats the [ __ ] out of this guy um and Missy is freaking out
and um so we sh Hawk's perspective he is livid and this is the guy that had creeped out cie his cousin it's that guy the dude who's supposed to be the bouncer bartender uhhuh who's supposed to be keeping everyone safe uhuh well that's a a I I don't think he understands the job assignment he doesn't get it he doesn't get it so Hawk fires him and rightfully so um the guy is like starts laughing and Missy is clearly panicking because this man is unhinged and like Hawks firing him
because of her and she's like holy [ __ ] like I did not mean to do all that like oh [ __ ] you didn't Missy she didn't this is the consequence of his own actions and choices he needs to take accountability and ownership for his behavior his portion of this this is not on you mhm so um Bishop who is the president and Hawk's biological Uncle shows up and he's like what the [ __ ] is happening like what is going on right now and um the I had actually just been
wondering where Bishop the head of all of this was he just showed up that yeah I was like showed up like literally 5 minutes ago I was like I I really feels like like Bishop I was like whatever what's his nuts should be here I did not remember that his name was Bishop was going to be impressed if you had cuz I forgot about him until I just saw his name in my notes well when his name was Bishop earlier I assumed he was still part of the cult like it felt like he showed up to
the church like I was like okay I see where we're going with it so he has a hat like yeah I was like yeah and then you're like and he left I'm like oh that's really not where I he's the president of the motorcycle club I was like but his name is Bishop I was not prepared we're just keeping you on your toes really so Bishop has finally shown up in this scenario and the guy is still like laughing that Hawk would try to fire him and um the bishop and Hawk kind of
like connect eyes and um confirming that Hawk is in fact firing this guy like I'm doubling down on this decision and the guy loses his [ __ ] when they tell him like you are for real fired okay so the guy was laughing because he's like you don't even have the authority to do this sort of energy then Bishop showed up and the guy was like haha look I'm about to keep my job and then Hawk and Bishop made some eye contact and then Bishop's like oh no this is for real bro you're
out and then the guy was like oh [ __ ] I'm actually fired yeah and he's like I loved it it was really good and so the the guy is like we have a [ __ ] contract you can't do this so Hawk the everloving [ __ ] out of him I thought he already did that he hit him a little bit but then he like really got him and he sends Missy inside to his room like he hands her off to one of the brothers and is like please take her like up to my room obviously she's not okay but they
still don't realize that she is really hurt so um the uh this the dumbass goes off again calling Missy a [ __ ] he's like so you're going to fire me over some [ __ ] you're in violation of contract blah blah blah blah blah so Hawk shoots him in the hand he's like that's the one you touched her with right get off my property and that's the end of that so the guy leaves like his buddies the guy doesn't want to leave but his buddies like pick him up and like like own that you've lost bro like you
are not going to come back from this next one's going in your head bro like I don't feel good about this we should leave so Bishop tells B move to physically assault someone and then tell another person you're in violation of contract right like but what about our contract what I thought I could like sexually assault whoever I wanted a contract that wasn't clearly written I don't recall that in the conduct Clause you aren't holding up your end of this bargain we have a signed agreement
I'm like wait what the [ __ ] yeah mhm okay he's an idiot yeah so um Bishop is like so it is now your responsibility to find new security for the bar before it opens next week and then he asks Hawk he's like so you realize like she's your girl now right and Hawk's like um Bishop's like just just go check on her like just go did Hawk not realize that or he knew that he was into her and definitely like wanted to bang her he just shot a man in the intrigued by her
but I don't think he fully connected like had her sent to his room at the club yeah that is a statement in itself it is which Bishop picked up on and Hawk was like oh you realize you just made some declarations right and Hawk is like had no idea man I see it now now that you mention it so we're back to Missy she is really not doing well she is in a lot of pain and she knows that she needs to clean the burns on her leg um but taking her shorts off is really gonna suck so
she's like trying to psych herself up so haot comes in and he sees the burn and so he calls the like medic nurse the do they have yeah to come check on her and um he gets her into a bath in like lukewarm water and he just holds her while she cries um and she is really frustrated that she keeps crying around him she's like this is not a thing that I do and I hate it I don't like it um but he takes really sweet care of her the doc shows up and gets her all patched up um and uh Hawk then takes her
home to her home yeah and um Missy reminds herself that this is all just adrenaline at this point um he's not actually like taking care of her he doesn't owe her anything he just feels bad that he hired her for this and she got hurt and he's just making sure that she's okay there's nothing like going on cuz she's feeling very vulnerable so his Bishop has finally been like hey Hawk you realized the Declarations you just made right and Hawk's like [ __ ] I guess
I did just make some declarations Miss's like nah there are no declarations this is all adrenaline 100% um so we're back to Hawk and he wakes up to somebody banging on the door and Missy is as sleep on his chest so she thought that he was going to leave like just drop her off at home and he never had any intention of doing that so she fell asleep on his chest and he the night made sure she was okay mhm so he answers the door to find Katie with some old woman who had apparently been watching
her the night before and um the old lady clearly does not want to leave Katie with him um but Katie recognizes him from the park and is super excited to see him and the old lady makes several threats and old lady have a name I don't remember it's like Ms something one of those yeah um and she's like I'll be checking in later I will ruin your life like listen I love how protective everyone is of Katie yes she is the priority for literally everyone um which becomes even more
apparent later um but he gets breakfast for Katie and she's just super cute and really chatty um and she asks why Missy is still asleep and he's like uh I don't know the rules of what you're supposed to tell a child she worked late that is the answer Hawk it's not hard but he's never been around a child this low hanging fruit he has never been around a child and he's like ah oh [ __ ] me like why is Mommy still sleeping well because someone sexually assaulted her last night and burned her with a
cigarette she had a long night she's she's resting and will be up in the like he's like he's like um he she hurt her leg and so she's resting and it's like um Bert crer stand up when he's talking about Santa and Jesus yes oh Jesus's brother Santa yeah gives a present every year to the people who didn't kill his brother however it like play but like he's like yeah and then like the Jews like it was this whole and his wife was in like what the [ __ ] this is how
you're describing Santa to the kids like that's what it feels like right now like it could have been that it could have been so simple why do mommy asleep oh Jesus's brother Santa you're like no it didn't we didn't have to go that deep need to to be there but then like so the kid immediately is asks if her dad did it she's like did daddy hurt mommy oh damn and so um that's not great Hawk like starts to panic a little bit but then Katie goes on to say that he's
never physically hurt her but he makes her cry a lot and um she is super cute and she's like and finds her very endearing wants to keep her safe very much so um but she says that she tells her daddy not to be mean to her and her mommy but he doesn't listen and Hawk is like I am [ __ ] like well that's it for me like well like gu I may as well make myself a set of keys to this place basically he's like I'm never leaving like damn it um so uh Bishop calls him
and says he's coming by to drop off some contracts and we don't know what these contracts are but Hawk knows that it's probably going to piss Missy off but he's just going to do it anyway we don't know what that means so Missy wakes up in a panic cuz she realizes it's after 11:00 and the sitter was supposed to drop Katie off at 7 and she's like oh Jesus Christ I would do the exact same so she's having a lot of trouble standing um when Hawk suddenly storms in
and picks her up and he's like what are you doing and she was like um what what are you doing like what um and he's like she's like I can't believe that you you stayed here like what wait she didn't realized he stayed there she fell asleep on his chest well they also gave her some pain meds apparently cuz she was really hurt so like I think she was like out of it um but Hawk's like quit comparing me to other men and she's like what is happening she's like I'm not comparing
you to anyone I woke up 4 hours after my daughter was supposed to get back where is my kid and why are you here and injured and want to know where my daughter is don't compare me to other men yeah it I wasn't he he can't read a room he he he can't read a room yeah at any he's really not having great understanding of social cues he doesn't have good Insight no to his credit though he was raised in the cult where I imagine that's a good point a cult and then a motorcycle club so there's
like you know standard social norms maybe we not his thing yeah yeah that's a good point I'm going to give him credit for that because I need I need to give him credit for that yeah because I'm if I don't give him credit for that I'm just like what the [ __ ] which again don't compare me to other men I'm really not I'm just trying to get it where's my kid where's my kid I just want to know what's happening so then he kisses the hell out of her of um but then she starts to reciprocate and
he stops her and he says that um he really wants more of her but her daughter has been waiting for her and like she needs to go check on her and eat something you know taking good care of her so Missy comes out and Katie is playing Go Fish with two massive bikers and having a great time um they keep pretending to be really upset that she's beating them and it's just very cute and super endearing that these massive men are like dang it like very cute Hawk's like don't worry Katie's perfectly
safe with some bikers was like trying to think like biker name that sound really like she's with Scar and Terror like yeah for some reason I was going to say Tony one had the scary name one was just the dude in the club with Drew and switchblade yeah with Drew a Nash over there exactly yeah but that is super cute it was a very cute moment so um Missy like doesn't know what to do with herself cuz she realizes that Hawk has taken care of everything like the kid is fed everybody's fine she's a
single mom who is always used to having to do everything and being like Oh wait every everyone has their needs met everything has been taken care of exactly and she goes to try to call her boss and hawk is like hey I already called your boss um um and said that you won't be in because of your injury and she starts to panic about she's like okay so I only have this much and I need this much and how am I going to do that and d and um Hawk is like are you done panicking now have you have you gone
through that um we want to hire you at the new bar at the new sports bar you did a great job at the party um and we would like to hire you to help us manage the new bar um and that's what the contracts were like he just decided they were going to hire her and just went ahead and called the strip club and was like Missy is not coming back like well okay I was just being like Oh giving Hawk all this credit and then you said that he called her job and quit on her behalf
well he said she wouldn't be in for the rest of the week but he was like in his head hoping yeah okay I feel better about that yeah all the contracts he's like here's your employee agreement [ __ ] hey there is a non-compete there is a non-compete I don't actually know they didn't go into for the other sports bar down the road she would just go back to to stripping probably what was it called rush rush the rush I was about to call it the fuzzy hole and I was like that's really
not the name it's just I almost called it the flush the FL that's different it's different yeah different energy at that club um so um she is feeling much more hopeful that this is like her way out of the way she's been living um but she says that she needs to think about it she's like doing a little hard to get moment so then she's at the park in the bat in cages and she's thinking about the day that her dad threw her out of the house um he is a politician and couldn't stand the idea of a teen
pregnancy in his family um and her mom okay but I will pause though and say that is our answer we did cuz I was like okay so she's like a very very young mom so we do get an answer to the context and how we all like just kind of that backstory cuz I feel like when you hear you're like oh she's like a 22-year-old mom of a 4-year-old this makes some stuff happened I'm glad that we have this I know there are probably more questions there really are but um her dad basically said I
can't have a teen pregnancy in my home it's not great for my campaign exactly mom was basically drunk all the time and didn't stand up for her and so that was it like she was on the street basically on her own um and that's why she was working two or three jobs and having to live with with this [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] baby daddy because she didn't have any other options so um she's thinking about all of this while she's in the batting cages at the park and she comes out and she
finds Hawk's sister Grace there and Grace tells her that um she thinks Missy is really good for Hawk um and she's glad that he is opening himself up to love and Missy is like um he's my new boss what are you talking about love is a big word but okay like we've kissed once she's like I'm not going to argue with this Little House on the Prairie moment here I'm just going to let that ride she's pregnant we're not going to take this away from her we're just going to let her have it
she's worried about her brother she's like uhhuh like okay I'm just so excited my brother has found you you're so good for him you're like I've known your brother for 3 Days he's opening himself up to love and I'm so excited it's like H worst wing woman sister ever but once again to her credit she did grow up in a cult and is still in one and is still in one and is very pregnant with twins she's doing her best and probably like doesn't realize that what she's saying
is not uh helping Hawk as she thinks it might be it's not so Katie uh it comes running over from the pr playground without her shirt on and jeem is like chasing her apparently she like got some water on it and like pulled it off and started running around the park and um Grace like locks up and Missy notices that she's looking at a bunch of guys in like khakis and weird pastel button-down shirts across the street and um they're like very young guys and Grace just like takes off all
of a sudden and gets into a van with them and Sh Missy is like what the [ __ ] is happening like Miss's like I'm literally just trying to raise my daughter she's like I'm trying to mind my own business what what so um yeah so Katie is excited about going to get special ice cream cuz she C can't have eggs and eggs is in most ice cream so that's a very central theme of all of this of like making sure that Katie is safe making sure that you know Katie doesn't get into anything she shouldn't
have so then 4 days later Missy goes to the clubhouse and Hawk has been checking on her by like text and stuff but they haven't been alone he's like stopped by the house and like dropped off food but it's been very much like just making sure that she's okay and um he which I also appreciate it's very sweet yeah it's very like hey I'm not trying to overstep I just care about you want to make sure you have what you need mhm definitely um and she is really excited to see him and so he
is outside cleaning his bike and um um when she gets to him like there's a bunch of Brothers outside and um he tells her that it's just just unprompted she like walks up to him and he's like hello it's time for me to make you come like wait what I don't think that's the exact line but that is 100% the energy where he's just like it's time for me to make you come hello are you ready to orgasm basically and he's like get on the bike that he's been cleaning right um okay so instead remember on
once scrubs yeah yeah when uh Elliot had never orgasmed before yes and yes uh-huh and she was like okay next time you do your laundry yeah like on the washing machine yeah that's wait for the spin cycle yes that's what it made me think okay it's time for you to come get on my motorcycle I was like oh the vibrations of the bike yes so instead of behind him he puts her on facing him um no stop and turns the bike on and they make out and then he takes his dick out and just gets inside her
under her dress all his brothers are like all around them also working on their bikes so that's happening also why would you turn the bike on it's going to heat the pipes so he was very particular about where to put her legs so she would appreciate the clarification said she wouldn't give birn I was [Applause] I was like what the actual why' you're in the bike tell me you've definitely ridden a motorcycle before without telling me you've definitely ridden a motorcycle
before no I've had a fear of God in Me about like burning my leg on a pipe yes yes she's in a little sundress too she's not dressed to be riding really but she she's to be riding something so wow bold mve very bold so he like in her ear I don't know if I aspire to but in my head I'm like I aspire to that level of sexual confidence and I don't actually know if I do but there's I'm like wow just the thought of like as you said getting your dick in someone under their
dress on a running motorcycle surrounded by all of your closest Family yeah is a choice it is a choice voice one that Missy is very into she is very much enjoying this moment and he like they're not moving like to be clear he's just inside her with the motorcycle yes he's soaking he's soaking with a motorcycle he's soaking on a motor I'm sorry you go to BYU drive a motorcycle you don't even have to get a third to shake the bed oh my God God soaking backing just on a
motorcycle on spin cycle so many Ops oh no oh my face hurts so they're just soaking on a motorcycle surrounded by his friends okay yep and so he like leans in and Whispers in her ear that like anyone watching would think that you're mine um um do you want that I know you want that like all that kind of stuff is happening she ignores all of that and it's like are we going to do something about the situation that we're in or are we going to continue to soak yeah so he rolls the
motorcycle into the garage and kicks everybody else out he's like everybody out so so he does have his limits yeah and all the guys are like laughing but they go out and like close the doors behind them and um he then finally orders her off the bike he eats her out against a wall until she comes and then um she like she's having this moment where like she wants to trust him and like wants to let him just kind of have his way and like take care of her and stuff but she
feels very conflicted about it um you mean the woman who's had to be like entirely self-sufficient since the age of 18 yeah yeah so um she is very quickly distracted from those thoughts of not trusting this situation um when he then [ __ ] her on the workbench in the garage and um lots of Demands for her to say his name or he's going to stop um and then one of those yes one of those at least it wasn't up mine like but it was like mine mine mine mine I want to hear my name when you come like that
sort of thing yeah yeah yeah um so they both do come and then feel like there was also probably a you grip me so tight probably that that's the energy it's giving yeah yeah mhm you better say my name when I spill inside you can you feel me painting your walls like think about is how you almost did Singaporean anime as a voice over with that weird growly voice you just did I don't think that's the voice they wanted me to do when they asked me to do Singaporean anime sure it wasn't but
that's the first thing I thought of oh my face hurts I also want to know I got asked to do that when I was like 17 like I was like is that weird like it wasn't at the time like looking back on it I was like what the [ __ ] was I doing as a 17-year-old being I'm going to be a voiceover actor for Singaporean anime yeah still would have been so cool would have been so cool yeah I wonder how they're doing I should check on them I hope they're well um but anyway they
both come um we love when everyone gets an orgasm so then um they are like getting themselves back together after and Missy she's wearing a sundress how much is there to get back together well there was pulling down of the top of it and you know I forgot that everyone left yeah yeah so clothing got more shifted than when they were just soaking on the bike correct so um Missy remembers to tell Hawk that he saw Grace um and she doesn't outright ask why does your
sister look like an extra on sahlan and Tall but she kind of is asking that and Hawk explains that she lives in a compound called the valley wait what did Sarah Plain and Tall do you remember that no oh my God but is it Sarah P it was Glenn Close Glen Close played Sarah PL and tall I don't remember that oh odd oh I feel like I'm missing such a huge pop culture reference well you're probably not I am probably in the minority of people who remember this brief moment in
Glen Clo's career when she played Sarah PL and Tall but I was almost named after one of the characters Anna was the daughter my mom was going to name me Anna but then the morning that she went into labor she read the story of Samuel and his mom was Hannah and so she named me Hannah instead of Anna I mean if we remove the hes right it's basically the same but so Sarah clean and tall is this okay pause before you even explain what I thought you said Sarah P and tall and I was like I
thought it was like an SNL sketch and I was like you know maybe some people might feel like Sarah Palin's family looks like they dress like they're in a cult I don't know feels like a very three pointed reference no Sarah Plain and Tall and it was a book that was turned into like a miniseries I guess that Glen Close was in and I think Christopher Walkin was in it I'm GNA have to look that [ __ ] up well I'm going to say if you had Glen Close you probably had a
very well-known male actor as well I'm almost positive that it was Christopher walin but basically like this widower has two kids and a farm and he puts out an ad that he needs help like taking care of his kids and so this woman Sarah writes to him and says hi I'm Sarah like I'm interested I'm plain and very tall um I would be willing to come help whatever and so it's like their story of her coming out to take care of his kids and help with the farm I have no memory of this actually
like I've never seen it I'm going to have to look it up so I can confirm but I am like 87% sure that it's Glen Close and Christopher wkan I we'll confirm later yeah we'll confirm later but anyway S I have like 15 more thoughts on this half of them are probably about Sarah Palin so we'll just move on M mhm we can move on yeah so Hawk is explaining his sister being an a cult um oh okay so like she cuz I guess I really hadn't considered that that like Missy doesn't know his history she
doesn't really know anything about him that there's like a whole nearby cult that's very prominent all she knows is he has this one twin sister who dresses funny and talks kind of funny but that's all she knows so he goes on to explain that like the the compound where Grace lives has a lot of beliefs about women that they're very much property that they're only there to like pump out babies all that kind of standard patriarchical [ __ ] and um Missy asks why he's not
there too like if Missy is there why isn't he there and he explain Grace is there yes if Grace is there I was like I was like I think you I was like I meant Grace I thought you meant Grace but I was like on the very slim chance you didn't I was like hold on is this book about to take a very large pivot that I did not anticipate no okay it was Grace yes it was Grace so um and he explains he has like scars on his arm that are covered by tattoos um and they're from
his punishment they're from the snake bites um and so he explains that you know Bishop saved him and she says that she understands scars and shows him her c-section scar and tell tells him that she almost died and so did Katie when she was in labor and no one was there to help her like baby daddy wasn't there her parents weren't there she was completely alone in the hospital um and Hawk feels this like strong protective urge but also a lot of Pride that she's so strong and that she
had been through so much um man I had a friend I thought it was the most endearing thing I'd ever heard she was having a c-section her husband came to the hospital he did not bring any of the necessary [ __ ] to bring to the hospital he did bring a pair of binoculars in case they made him stand far away which I thought was the sweetest thing I'd ever heard well also I can imagine that if Vance brought a pair of binoculars to the hospital when I was in labor I would have been so pissed if I
didn't have anything I need a phone charger and leggings what the [ __ ] I'm like I needed the stroller fan with the little like wire arms that I could put on the side of the hospital bed cuz I needed the air while I was pushing more than I needed [ __ ] binoculars but I thought it was the most endearing thing I had ever heard in my entire life that's very cute yeah that's super cute oh my gosh at least somebody showed up for her right no that was my thought I
was like I was like man what a blessing to like even if you're annoyed with your husband he showed up with binoculars because he was that excited and wanted to make sure he didn't miss anything like I can't imagine yeah completely alone and she talks about like how grateful she is for the nurses who were super supportive and helpful to her and Hawk feels like this this pride and this desire to protect but also this like he feels honored that he is going to be the
one moving forward that like she has let him take care of her even a little bit and he wants to continue that so um he then asks if she came by just to use his body he's like why did you actually show up here was it just for the dick because we never we never asked why never after all of that we never asked why she showed up so then um she just showed up and he was like it's time for me to make you come yeah like she didn't even get to like have a greeting it was just like
get on this dick and that was it right so so she's like well also I'm taking the job and I'm I'm on my way to quit the strip club right now oh so she was stopping by to tell him she was accepting the position yeah yeah um so it's all very cute as she is leaving to go to the club and he again realizes that he is super [ __ ] he's like well I'm a goner that's it for me I'm done right um so then Missy is at the club she's saying goodbye to all the girls and she's just kind of having fun
hanging out with them for a little bit what was the turnaround time on the paycheck here I don't know like cuz I was really thinking this through cuz I'm like okay well if the bar isn't opening when are they going to start paying her at the at minimum she's not going to get her first paycheck for probably two weeks so they did hire her to come in and help finish setting up the bar okay but I'll say that even most pay structures like yeah she still is going to be in it yeah yeah so I'm like
okay how long do you need to stay stripping until your next we're concerned about your finances Missy Katie needs to be protected she needs her EpiPen yes that was actually where my I'm like okay what are we doing to make sure we're setting ourselves up for financial success for our daughter here so so she's having fun at the club and um she gets called outside by one of the B bouncers and Hawk's sister Grace is there oh and um she's like she doesn't explain anything she's just like
we need to get to Hawk right now we got to go right now and Missy is like okay get in the car like just get in like let's go talk about it be about it let's let's strap our seat belts and go she's like I'll find out when we get there clearly this is urgent so Grace is trying to explain that she has to tell Hawk what's happening she's clearly panicking she's like Hawk has to know like I have to tell Hawk and C like Missy is like okay all right I'll drive you it's fine yeah take a deep breath we
got this so before we figure out anything the car is hit head on at a red light like they are fully stopped at a red light and somebody intentionally hits them and Men start pulling Grace from the car and Missy is coming too as Grace is being pulled from the car and um she fights the best that she can while Grace is screaming at her to run she's like you got to run you got to run um she Nails one of the guys in the eye and then takes off like her car is still sort of running and so she just
takes off for the club house cuz they're pretty close but all she can think about is that Grace is almost 9 months pregnant with twins and these men could be doing anything to her and she's like freaking out oh that is a deeply terrifying situation yeah she's freaking the [ __ ] out but she knows that she can't do anything so she needs to get to Hawk so she I pause though I like I actually really appreciate that like someone who like knows their boundaries and like kind of knows their scope and
it's like I don't have the necessary skills to do anything to protect this woman and I'm not going to stand here and like try and like be the hero conion right she's like I'm bleeding from the head like there's not a lot I can do here yes so she is just doing her best to stay awake at this point so she knows you're right like she knows her limits in this moment and so she takes off to get to Hawk so he's working in the garage when he hears a car horn like we're back to
Hawk and he's like what the [ __ ] is that and he sees M's car is pushed up against the Gate of the clubhouse and two trucks are like coming in at her and so he gets to the gate with his brothers they chase the trucks off with guns and um Missy is clearly dazed and she's trying to tell him like what happened and your sister and all of the things they took Grace like you have to help Grace um and this book really goes from 6:00 to midnight it really does so quickly it really does
and it just continues like once it starts it doesn't stop with like the so she just keeps saying over and over I got away I got away I got away and he's like you did you're okay you're okay um and so he is freaking out he's very concerned about his sister rightly so but Missy is very hurt and she is his priority in this moment he's like I have to take care of her so Missy gets the all clear from the doctor and she's feeling very guilty respectfully I have to say should that
situation have happened should my like should my husband well when we were not married right but like that's who I'm I'm like if I had been in a car with his sister who was 9 months pregnant with twins and he was like you're my priority right now I'd probably be like I [ __ ] shouldn't be right have you thought about your twin sister yeah like I'm clearly okay enough like we can Circle back to me but right now I'm not the priority well so part of it is that he
realizes that it's the cult that took her okay and they will not hurt her because of the babies like the babies are too valuable because they need their savior so they're not going to hurt her okay so he like is aware of that he knows that she's not okay valid he but he also knows like her physical safety at this moment is not in jeopardy because of the pregnancy right meanwhile Missy is actively bleeding from the head so like you know touche I I can I can walk back my words a little bit well no
like I see where you're coming from with it of like but that does also make sense that he like recognizes that like with the setup and structure of the cult that his sister well like it was very scary and they were hit also why would they hit her if she was pregnant well so it's a whole thing oh okay sorry I'm no it's okay it's okay because she so Miss's feeling really guilty um that she didn't do more and Hawk is reassuring her he's like listen I know who took her because
she's like we have to find her like what could this be and this is where he's like I already know right I already know that it was the valley um and uh that's when he explains the ritual with the snakes like he didn't tell her before but he explained the whole thing now and he tells her to rest he's going to go pick up Katie from school I'm going to take care of everything like you're going to be okay so his plan Hawk's plan was to wait to see if Grace showed up at their Meetup cuz it was
only like one or two days away uhhuh so he was thinking maybe they didn't like her hanging out with a stripper somebody over reacted right like maybe it was something like that so he's trying not to panic and he's like I'm just going to see if she shows up to our meet so it's a couple of days later and Hawk's Dad shows up at the clubhouse demanding to know what he did to Grace and um I know I know I know just the Gentle Way I know Chelsea I know I know exactly what you a couple
days later okay sorry go on it's fine it's fine a day or two whatever so um he Hawk's dad says that Grace was moved into what they call a prayer house and no one will tell him why what is a what is a prayer house so apparently it is a place where they send people who have lost their way so that they can reconnect with God not that they've drifted so far that they need to be bitten by snakes but far enough the intervention depending on how this goes right snakes might be the next
step intervention is needed okay we're going to put you in this house until you either repent or get bitten by a snake correct so um Hawk and Bishop chased out off eventually um and Haw had thought again that he was going to wait but now he realizes he can't wait he's like if she's in a prayer house I don't know what's happening to her her husband isn't there to protect her like like that's bad like it's real bad now so um so it's not just isolation it could be substantially worse than that
right um so he thought it would be safer for her and for his brothers to wait MH but now realizing that is not the case and so he is coming in hot he and Bishop roll up to the town where the cult operates and the cult sends what is essentially three teenagers with automatic weapons to tell them to leave and um they do not they just sit on their bikes and wait and his brother who was the one who betrayed him shows up Isaac of course his name ISAC yep if it wasn't it'd be Elijah how the [ __ ] is
his name Hawk Hawk is not a Biblical name so that's not his actual name but his actual name is not biblical either I don't remember what it was feels like they were really leaning into the biblical of it all Grace is the only one who called him the name but it was like tayor or something like it was not biblical and In fairness to his dad he had 37 children so maybe he like ran out I mean maybe he was like down to to Methuselah there's a lot of chapters in The Bible all of them are named after a
different person so I really like Matthew Mark I mean I recognize some are not right like you're not going to name your kid Galatians I mean you might but you I don't I'm not here to judge I wouldn't but you might name your child Samuel like right like yeah I recognize not all books of the Bible are named after characters in The Bible so don't at me about that but but I do feel like there are enough biblical names I know someone what like whatever like the um Hebrew word is for
like that literally means like girl like little girl that is used in scripture they named their daughter that like what it's escaping me I don't remember but that word right I'm like I feel like there are so many options for bi biblical names that if you're going to lean that hard you can find 37 if you try hard and believe in yourself right I mean Ruth Esther we can go fully Old Testament Mary right like we can go Hannah like we can go full we can go all the way you know Rachel yeah
Rebecca we have so many great options available to us we need to stop we'll just keep going anyway yeah I would lose that at some point like I'm like you're going to win if we're like okay I don't know that to be true I was like Rebecca really was probably the final one I was thinking of that is literally my sister's name as is Mary Diana oh that's a good one yeah I once so Jezebel you probably wouldn't name your kid that but it is a name in the Bible have you seen the girl
on Tik Tok that does parody videos and she calls herself jezzy Beth she like hey girls it's jzy bath and I'm like I'm obsessed with you my God she's incredible yeah um all of all of the biblical names I had a friend in grad school ironically my friend's name was algra not a Biblical name but whenever she was like you know how they say she had weak eyes she like in scripture was it Leah who had the weak eyes I think so my friend would do a Leah impression and like cross her
eyes it was one of the fun like in the time when I was like in seminary it was Peak comedy oh clearly it's still is cuz I like almost I see that yeah I'll have to find a photo and send it to you cuz I remember taking a photo and being like algra do your weak eyes and she's like okay and I snapped a photo cuz it was that good that just makes me think of my dog who is soft eyed Sophie soft oh we also forgot about Eve I'm sorry oh Eve Lilith sorry anyway the laugh with it
sorry soft DED so yeah she's blind for anybody who doesn't know my dog Sophie is mostly blind so we call her sof eyed Sophie well so I have a friend back in Nashville that at one point was running a bunny rescue I don't know if she still is but at one point she was and she had two bunny bunnies at one point one was named clous Von bun bun I got to babysit him once it was such a delight he blended into my rug cuz my my rug was like black and white checkered pattern
and I I loved CLA Von bun bun she then got a second bunny who I think the name was olive and Olive was blind and so then clouse kind of became the guide bunny for Olive okay that's adorable yeah it was a whole thing but it was like super cute that's adorable yeah it was a whole bunny rescue I don't know if it still exists but if it did we'll link it here so our listeners in Tennessee can support the bunny rescue and if you don't live in Tennessee but feel strongly about
bunnies we got options we have options options where so where are we at this point but anyway I got us very lost so Hawk and Bishop are in the town confronting Isaac oh yes Isaac just shut up we got on our whole thing Biblical name because of [ __ ] Isaac y so en are probably Brothers as well sorry keep going e so Isaac says that Grace is safe and happy she's just reconnecting to God and Isaac no one [ __ ] believes you not a single [ __ ] person just reconnecting to God
what does that mean as soon as someone says you don't need to worry about them they're just reconnecting to God you immediately need to go you need to call the FBI yes like things are not okay that needs to be reported like no no no um um so Hawk is like okay well all that better be true because I will [ __ ] you up if you hurt my sister right um so we're back to Missy she is setting up the bar um she's still trying to work and like you know cuz they don't know what's
going on she's just trying to stay focused also really just pausing for a second mhm I need to let me math let me pull my calculator because 37 [ __ ] kid like and he has seven wives yeah each of them has had at least 5.28 children y they each have at least five yep and then obviously a couple have at least oh oh my God it's too many seven wives each of whom have at least five children so every time I read seven wives all I could think of was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers which is not
the same not at all it's not the same it's not the same um I thought of I growing up uh one of the books that my parents would like read little like stories to us from was called apples snakes and belly AES do you remember that book no um it's like in retrospect I think like Christian nursery rhyme sort of but there was like a whole like rhyme story about um Solomon having to kiss each of his wives good night is it Solomon that I'm thinking of I could yes it is I'm pretty sure Solomon
had a whole herum yeah and like the whole thing about how we had had to kiss all of his lives good night which is also kind of a racy bedtime story for kids now that I think about it yeah I heard a thing the other day um I was watching some video and somebody was explaining that Solomon in the Evangelical Christian tradition is like the wisest of all Kings and all this but in the original Hebrew translation when they call him wise it's super sarcastic and he was actually a [ __ ] idiot I
don't know if that's true huh but I hope it is well honest that's hilarious there have been some moments where I'm like we're really giving this bro a lot of credit we're doing so much for him so that would that would connect some right missing dots that whole paradigm shift for me I had yeah whole paradigm shift I just remember being in school and taking a class on Ecclesiastes written by what a party right my professor was like okay here's the summary of Ecclesiastes life

keep living your life recommend yeah so they were having the conversation with Isaac and Isaac was like she's just like reacquainting herself with the lordine yeah she's totally fine yeah so we're back to Missy okay she's setting up the bar getting ready for open um Hawk comes in and he's super upset cuz he's straight from his brother right and they have a real heart to heart and he shares the guilt that he feels about his sister in general um cuz he even though it
wasn't on purpose he left her there um and that's his twin and just there's a lot going on there and um she gives him a little bit of SASS and a little bit of support and he declares that he's just never going to let her go um which is Bold and jeem the bestie comes in who is also working at the bar now um and absolutely destroys the moment by telling them not to Chris in the bar when literally everyone is right here she's like can you not [ __ ] on the bar we're all like right
here and Missy is like you're just jealous you don't get to have sex on the bar and Jem's like who says I haven't already and then walks out and Gem is just my favorite I was literally just thinking Gem's like hey guys please don't [ __ ] on the bar like we're trying to get our health code clearance right now it's really not going to bode well trying to stock the bar and you not you're just jealous cuz you can't I already have [ __ ] just don't do it right now wait at least until close please um
so then is that what they're into though like this like it like an exhibitionism kind of like lean judg All God's Children sure that's never called out but it does feel it does seem like we are a little leaning that way yeah okay so then um it's Sunday lunch at the club um Missy gets to know everybody she's having a really good time and she's starting to be really overwhelmed by how awesome everything is because she's so not used to it and how sweet Hawk is with Katie um well and I can imagine
like she has literally been on her own for 4 years being a single parent managing also navigating her abusive ex yes and that's like she's process ing that and kind of like goes away in her head and is thinking about all the hard times before of like having to drop out of high school cuz she hadn't quite graduated yet and um not being able to go to college like she planned and running out of formula because her ex took all her money and like all these different things and um she realizes
that she's not going to live like that anymore this is her new family she feels really connected to them um like the guys have all clearly embra her daughter and want to like love her and make sure she's safe and taken care of they've protected Missy as well like it's all very like supportive and kind and lovely well just that moment of like oh I don't have to struggle the way I've been strugg like yes man what a weight off her shoulders huge relief huge relief um and so that night
um uh with Hawk she like very playfully puts some ice down his shirt while he's making drinks which of course leads to temperature play um and he there's a lot of [ __ ] happening and we love that for them lots of be a good girls happening and um So eventually he comes on her tits and then she like licks it off of her hand or whatever and he says you shouldn't have done that I hope you're ready to get [ __ ] again because I was really going to let you rest and it's
just that's the energy the whole time okay so there's all this sweetness and kindness and support but then there's also a lot of that happening life's about balance um so it is sorry keep going um so then um Hawk is on a mission to find his sister as well that's all that's running as well so he finds the locations of all of the Cults Properties by basically threatening an attorney um who handles all their stuff and he makes plans to find his sister he's like okay so we know these
are all the locations of all their properties we're going to have to split up we're going to have to systematically search whatever so then Miss's working the bar it's now fully open everything's going great three guys that ask for ice water and specifically ask for her to serve it um and she thinks maybe they know her from the strip club because that's happened before where guys have like remembered her and requested her whatever but she just gets really but
then they're all wearing khaki pants and collared shirts yeah she gets real weird Vibes um and and not in the way that the at the start of the book was giving weird Vibes no one of them says he just wanted to feel her energy she's like what the [ __ ] is happening and one of them like grabs at her and she punches him in the face like she's just like nope nobody will be touching me nobody will be touching me thank you and um security shows up whatever Bishop calls Hawk to let him
know what's going on and um well I love that they did find new security they did find new we love that for them yes they did find new security um so Hawk is home with Katie watching her and getting her ready for her birthday um and cie the cousin is there as well and she gets real freaked out all of a sudden because she sees someone out in the yard and um Hawk is like okay I have to find a way to keep Katie contained in the house and not freaking out and so he's like hey Katie
the floor is lava make sure you stay stay with cie and so he goes out to check it all out oh so Callie's there too yes cie the cousin yes is there okay yes but that's convenient it is helpful yes um and um as he's like checking the perimeter of the house he's thinking about how he wants to make it's his house more of a home so that Katie and Missy would want to move in and um he's like I really think maybe she was seeing things maybe there was a reflection but
then he finds a footprint in the flower bed by the window and he's like [ __ ] me like that's real bad yep that's not what I was hoping would happen here uh-uh so then Bishop calls that's when he gets the call that somebody attacked Missy and so he's like well that's all quite a coincidence isn't it um so Missy finishes her shift she's really not all that worried about this situation so at this point are they thinking it was like a coordinated planned attack or are they legitimately
like oh that's kind of a coincidence they're like that's weird there's no such thing as coincidences well and Missy doesn't realize like these are cult people she's not familiar with them the only one she's ever interacted with is Grace Grace and then the three people that or the the people that Grace got in the van with that she saw right but you know touche she didn't grow up in it she's not it's not on her radar to be aware right of it okay so she's like
they were weird but like that's it so um Missy realizes as her shift is wrapping up that she hasn't been back to her apartment like all week um Hawk had gotten a bed for Katie and like set up a room for her and had been picking up Missy after every shift and like getting Katie from school and stuff and she's like trying to reconcile that she has people now like that she has people who care about her and want to help her oh my heart I know like people she can
count on she's like that's really weird but Hawk has been very like not subtle about just like just just come on in but she hasn't noticed like even though he's not subtle she like not picking it up because she's so not used to it yeah which is sad um but it is Katie's weekend with her dad and he is an absolute douchebag calling Hawk a criminal um and all this other stuff and she's just like listen I'm not going to do this with you this is your time with Katie please just enjoy your time
with Katie like I'm not doing this yeah just like be a dad this none of this is relevant just be present for your daughter yeah it's none of your business it's none of your business so Missy then goes to work at the bar and um Hawk says he has a present for her and she's like o okay and it's epipens it's one for every place that Katie spends time so one for each of the houses one for each of the cars like so so sweet um and Missy is super overwhelmed by how like thoughtful and kind that is
and she's like how can I ever repay you for this and he's like just move into my house he's like that's literally all I want at this point and just like be with me yeah and he's like listen if you're worried about it I'll pay for your apartment for your little for a little while until you're comfortable like fully living with me like just please just just stay with me and um yeah we don't you didn't even need to give up your lease I'll pay for that too yeah buddy just be with me like
he loves her and this kid so much he's just like all in and so Missy is like I'm I will move in with you like calm down a little bit and also great gesture you didn't have to buy my daughter 15 EP pins for me to move in with you I would have done it for no EP pins right right but this doesn't hurt hurt because this is very helpful and convenient I love this journey yes yes so um she's like listen I'm just going to run by the apartment after my shift to get some stuff um and Hawk is like
that sounds great I will see you at home like really excited about it so she gets to her apartment um and there is a man there with a ski mask on demanding to know where Katie is what yeah so he like comes at her um comes at Missy and she can't get to the door or her phone so she's starting to freak out so she makes it to the kitchen she keeps him talking and the guy says that Katie is the chosen one and they will come for her does Katie have a cross-shaped birth
mark so literally no idea at this point like Missy is like what the [ __ ] a chosen one like what like get out of my apartment freaking out yes so she gets to a butcher knife and just takes this guy the [ __ ] out so like big fight and Sue she's really hurt but she takes the guy down and she finally gets to her phone and Hawk answers he's like hey baby you almost home and she's like I killed someone and he's just like I'm coming my notes say a true ride or
die yes like that's it okay so not quite the same and a little a little bit more morbid of a situation if I'm being completely honest a little bit more morbid different but also like still more so like Vance had only been married for like 5 months and I was at work and my mom had texted me Vance my sister and my brother-in-law that my dad had had a heart attack and had to be LifeLight and bless my mom's heart so like where my parents live is in the middle of nowhere
there are there's a major town um they live like right on like the North Carolina Tennessee order there's a major town 45 minutes east of them in North Carolina and there's a major town 45 minutes west of them essentially in Tennessee my mom had been in North Carolina in that major town for this like speaker convention I don't [ __ ] know my dad got LIF flighted they live in Tennessee he got LifeLight to the Tennessee hospital M so my mom text all of us um that like he
had to be hospitalized and had was was taken to the hospital and my mind just went completely blank on why I started this story it was morbid and he's a true Rider die and she called and said I just killed someone and he said I'm coming yeah the funny thing is I had a full reason why I started this story and I don't anymore I was trying to give it to you no you really were something about Vance you were only married for 5 months oh no it was the phone call oh and how
he was like yeah baby what's up so Vance hadn't seen these phone calls or these this text come through and I leave work early and I decide that I'm going to go home because like my co-workers were like what do you need I was like I need to not be [ __ ] here they're like you're right go home and like so sweet so supportive but Vance calls me on the way home hey baby what's up how's your day not great oh oh what's up did you read the text messages my mom sent you
no what's going on like it was like legitimately like that phone like hey like yeah hey honey you almost home just had a great workout on the way back to the house what do you need it was like literally that's like obviously not that situation as far as I had not killed someone but like just the weirdest sensation of like knowing your life is like potentially falling apart fully shifting and talking hey what's up oh my God can't wait to take this call right and you're like no no come with me
on this journey yes like yes it was it was that and like I was like did did you get my mom's text no what's up well guess I'm going to be the one to break the news yeah it was like that yeah yeah so not saying I killed someone get know but similar energy yeah yeah it is a very disconcerting kind of phone call to have yeah yeah baby having a great day what's going on like well yeah everything's could be about to change um and so Hawk immediately shifts obviously and he's like yep on my way
got you got this yep he shows up with his brothers Missy is covered in blood and really busted up this poor girl has been busted up from the moment that she meets him she is like busted up um unfortunately probably busted up from the time she got kicked out of her house yeah she's been struggling for real um but it is his brother Isaac that is down the floor yeah it's his brother Isaac from the CT I honestly wasn't I I did not was a big gasp so it really was I
was not prepared for that to be Isaac yes yeah it was Isaac so um she's like trying to explain to Hawk like what he was saying to her and she's like something about Katie's the chosen one and hawk like hold up hold up hold up does she have a birthmark and she's like yeah she has a weird little cross thing on her sternum Grace had seen it at the park that day when Katie had taken her shirt off and was running around all crazy and um she was taken Grace they are putting
together Grace was taken because she was trying to warn them that they needed to hide Katie because the cult was coming for her so um Hawk is going into like full protection mode yes and Katie's dad won't answer the phone like they're calling him over and over and over again and he won't answer so they are not calling the cops Missy is like am I going to go to prison and they're like baby girl shh like never speak of it we'll take care of it go get your kid we got it so uh
they get to baby daddy's house and no one will answer the door so no one's answering the phone no one will answer in the door God and The Neighbor comes out and he says that he heard yelling and that someone took off in a car um at some point and he doesn't know if Katie was with the person who got in the car so they bust down the door and haot goes in and um baby daddy is dead he's been shot and they can't find Katie anywhere so the cops show up and one volunteers to take Missy back to the
station to get photos of Missy for an amber alert and like to put stuff out and um Hawk is like great idea because he doesn't want her to see MH anything right and yet I feel like this isn't it's a terrible idea yeah it's a bad idea let's not separate yeah because it turns out he's a member of the cult and um he tells her that she made one chosen one she can make another and she realizes that means they don't have Katie and she's like well thank [ __ ] for that like where is Katie but at least
they don't have her yeah especially where is Katie if Katie's biological father is dead and had been the one with her and someone took the baby right so where is she so Missy is praying to baby daddy to be like I know that like you loved our daughter for what a [ __ ] you were you loved our daughter like please protect her like wherever you are please take care of her so Hawk is pissed at the cops because they keep talking to the MC members and asking the same questions over and over and they're
still just like more like interrogating them and he's like we aren't getting to where we actually need to get you are wasting time investigating my brothers right now where is Katie like why are you doing this so um all of us love her we've played Go Fish yeah yeah stop we have a connection so he is about to take off and like go to the police station to meet up with Missy when he hears Katie calling out to him and he's like what the [ __ ] he's like everybody shut the
[ __ ] up like everybody shut up and um it turns out that her dad there was like a um a old wooden box to like keep wood in uhhuh and he had like put her in there and told her to hide yeah he told her to hide and be quiet and so she had hidden and been silent and while Hawk was pacing and yelling about the cops she heard him and started yelling for him yeah and so they finally get her out father for something I know I know at least he like protected her so they finally get her out and she
tells the cops everything that she heard and Hawk is super protective and the guys are right there like the cops try to take Katie from him and the guys are like yeah we're not doing that um and so the cops suddenly say he's like cuz Katie is asking for Missy and question and you may have said this earlier and I may have missed it I thought they weren't going to who who called the cops who involved the neighbor the neighbor called the cops okay sorry you probably
said that I miss no I didn't it they heard a commotion but also with a dead body like that they knew they had to call the cops because Katie was gone and they have baby daddy is dead right and they all have a connection to him so like hiding him would have been bad anyway the neighbor that was kind of my thought was I was like so the MC show shows up and like Missy's like who's calling the cops and they're like don't do that quite yet but now the cops are there so yes okay yeah um so the cops
never find out about Isaac they didn't call the cops for Isaac the MC cleaned up the apartment and that body but not baby daddy okay sorry all of it together there's a lot of locations there's a lot of locations and dead bodies um so um the cops then tell Hawk that Missy never made it to the station the cop that we he's not answering the radio they don't know what's going on and he's like obviously the cult took her and he overhears the cops say an address in Ann
Arbor like they tracked the car they're in Michigan by the way um so there's some random address in Ian Arbor so he gets jeem the bestie to come get Katie um and is like well looks like I'm going to get my woman and like all his brothers take off so Miss's taken to a house and the men tell her grace is there and if she fights or runs they will kill Grace and that's how they're like controlling Missy at this point so um she's locked in a room Grace is really okay but she's freaking out and
she's like I swear I didn't tell them anything those boys I was with that day saw her I was trying to warn you she's like really like guilty that all this happened which obviously Missy is not blaming her for not at all um but then Grace's water breaks oh [ __ ] what what is this book I know I know so um Missy is like screaming for help and they finally come and they tell her um that she is going to make another chosen one and they like haul her up and they're
like getting ready to like tie her down and [ __ ] understand how birth marks work no they don't or how like they don't we're going to tie you down in 9 months and the hopes that this second child has a cross-shaped birth mark so I will tell you I have a birth mark on the back of my knee mhm that is red and it has like three lines and when I went to visit my grandmother in her assisted living home many years ago when I was a child this old lady saw it and started screaming
her head off and said it was the mark of the devil and apparent L if I had been born like in the 16 or 1700s I probably would have been killed because of this birth mark what yeah yeah cuz I looked it up later and apparently like it is the belief that like if you have a red birth mark that's shaped like that that it's like the devil's handprint I was like super I love that well okay that is fascinating not where I thought we were going cuz so when I had my son when I
had Ford Ford had had stork bites he had one on the tip of his nose and he has a little one just under his right eyebrow and then he has one between his eyebrows and I was like oh yeah this happens um then I also noticed he has like almost a square shaped red birth mark at the back of his head and he has like a little like normal like brown birth mark on the bottom of his foot but for the ones on his head they are all red my dad has an identical Square birth mark on the back
of his head and several of my family members have had that ex identical stork bite like and I know stor bites are like pretty common but like the exact locations of like weird yeah so when you said that like you had that I thought you were going to say like you like your like Grandmother Had a matching one and I was like oh I was and then I was like having this whole existential moment was like holy [ __ ] are the shapes of birth marks gen like genetic and I neverbe
they are maybe I don't know cuz I also had a mole that looked like a um a bullseye like it was dark and then light and then dark in the middle huh super cool but they were like hey this could be cancer so I don't have it anymore but I was like oh my God that's exactly what they looked at for witches for like a nipple to feed your your familiar or whatever and then I have this [ __ ] birth I I would have been dead you would have with a swiftness oh my God I would have been dead you would not have
survived I would not have survived Sal and not even because like were you over Salem when you worked for like was was wasn't Salem one of your regions that was in my region but like not even because people are like I am the descendants of the witches that you failed to kill not any of that literally just because of my weird [ __ ] birth marks you're like I'm just trying to live my life and have some birth marks I'm not trying to like Manifest this energy or call these Spirits I'm just
trying to live y'all not trying to have a familiar I I like cats but like I like cats but not like that I mean like I don't want to [ __ ] a cat and it seems like y are almost at that level with your there's a lot there yeah I'm not into it but anyway sorry okay where yeah so she gets hauled up in front of the prophet and um The Prophet's like 80 and it's a whole hot shitty mess and he's a douchebag and she's like well I did kill that guy you sent for me and they all start to freak
out cuz they they didn't know that Isaac was dead right one of them said we haven't heard from Isaac and she's like oh Isaac's dead cuz I killed him like yeah so um then the Men start saying that they don't think that she is pure enough for the Prophet The Prophet is the one to impress yeah it's lots of ick um and so um he says well this is easy just bring the snakes and we'll test her the [ __ ] snakes the [ __ ] snakes bro so then just as they're bringing the snakes out
someone starts yelling that the bikers are here and all the men except the prophet run like everybody like cuts and run they're like when we're done and so the prophet says that if he's going to die he's taking Missy with him and he lights the room on fire so then Hawk is a man on a mission and they find Grace and she tells him that Missy is here she's okay like and he's starting to realize like he loves Missy like this is really bad like he needs her back and he's freaking
out Grace goes to the hospital they find Missy behind a wall of fire with the prophet and so um Bishop gets everybody else out of the house Hawk gets Missy um he knocks the Propet over and this whole thing he gets Missy out of window and on his way out he releases all the snakes and just listens to the prophet die scream and um he tells Missy they have Katie Grace is safe everything is okay and it's all lots of relief all around right so then two weeks later
Missy and Katie are at the baby daddy's funeral and she feels nothing but gratitude that he Protected Their baby in the end like she doesn't have any bitterness towards him she's just really grateful that he was quick enough and put Katie Safety First yeah um Hawk is waiting for them outside um Katie has been struggling with a lot of nightmares and she often wants Hawk like she reaches for Hawk to feel safe and um it's all very sweet he's very very sweet with her and then Hawk
takes them to the hospital to check in with Grace um she named one of her twins after Missy um but she is planning to go back to the valley so even though they killed the prophet the the cult is not over yeah the cult still exists for sure like that's still her life so when Missy and Katie or when Missy and grace are alone she asks why why would you stay like not judging just honestly like why would you do that and Grace says that she loves her husband and that he's a
good father um but also she knows that if the valley doesn't make some some major changes now that the prophet has died um that she will leave that she can't raise her daughters in this mhm um but also that she will give up her freedom for her children so like if she can't also get her kids out she will stay so um gra I entirely understand yeah yeah absolutely um so then Grace's husband show shows up and so they all take off because they don't want any conflict they don't want to make things
harder on Grace yeah so then it's two months later um Hawk finds Missy in the stor room of the bar and sees a bandage like on her hip and he goes immediate caveman thinking that she's hurt um and she actually got a swayy tattoo and she says if we ever break up I I can just tell people I'm a big fan and then he [ __ ] her from behind lots of Declarations of Love um and then he also gives her the paperwork to get her GED um if she wants to because he knows that that was
something that had been important to her before and he said it's whatever makes you happy if you want to work in the bar forever work in the bar forever but if you want to go back to school like I'm here for you so then a year later it is Katie's first day of kindergarten and Missy is like yelling up the stairs for her and she's not answering and so she like hauls up the stairs and she hears Katie telling Hawk that she's really scared to go to school um and Hawk is very sweet and
reassures her that everything is going to be fine you have plenty of family like we're not worried about it it's okay if those kids don't like you like it's not like everybody's going to love you you he's like who gives a [ __ ] like kids are stupid um which is very on brand so um then as they're getting ready to leave they hear motorcycles coming down the street and he sends Katie out to see who's here right and he tells Missy that um he wanted everyone to know who they'd be messing with if
they [ __ ] with his kid and the whole club showed up to take take her to her first day of kindergarten so that she would feel safe and okay um and it's so cute and he said um the whole club wanted to be there it's not like he made them show up they wanted to come um because that's her family and family should be there for all of her big firsts um and it's lots more Declarations of love and just happiness all around and that's the end it's a journey yeah I find that
that's true of all motorcycle romances true where I'm like okay and then I'm like wait a minute I feel like the only person whose like motorcycle club romances haven't seemed like completely out of left field to me have been like Kristen Ashley MC romances where I'm like oh that's because like she every Kristen Ashley book is the same main character yeah we're just changing their job you know and so I think that's why that one we can call them the leader of an MC we can call
them a private eye for all like care they're still the same Alpha former Navy SEAL it doesn't matter 1,000% yeah so this is a that that was a journey yeah I feel like a lot of these are very much like early o soap operas yes where it's like and then there's an identical twin and it's like she didn't really die and it's like okay all right I signed up for this you're like I'm sorry I watched her get cremated but sure I'll suspend belief that she's back now it's fine she just
resolved her contract dispute with producers so now she's back like how are we going to walk ourselves out of this one yeah Drake Romero was that his name what was the what was Joey's name on friends oh I think it was Drake something it was Drake something it might not be Romero I don't remember no I think it's not Romero but I'll have this is going to bother me now I'll figure it out in the future it's not relevant what's our ratings scale snakes snakes yeah
snakes Okay how many snakes is this out of um I'm going to say like seven cuz that's the Lord's number sure we can do seven I'll go like four out of seven that's what seven yeah because the thing is like stuff like her parents and all of this like angsty [ __ ] with her parents never comes back stuff with like Hawk's dad who showed up for that one minute and then was gone never comes back and never gets resolved so there's a lot of this stuff that's like yeah but also the story was
interesting and Hawk was very sweet and Katie was very cute and like it was a fun read yeah yeah and I really appreciated Missy's tenacity yeah that is another thing I liked that it wasn't like she was so independent that she would not allow help and like made her life harder yes but she wasn't so helpless that she was like a hot shitty mess the whole time just waiting for a man mhm it was like this weird happy medium that you don't usually see yeah where she's like I can take care of
myself and if something can like come in that is adding to my life I will consider it but like my life is not easy yeah but I'm also not going to like shift on a moment's notice exactly for some random dick exactly yes yeah yeah which I appreciate so I would say a comfortable four out of seven snakes four out of seven snakes yeah yeah it motorcycle romances are hard because again and and like also the the um uh security guy never came back he got shot in the hand and then was like cool with
it he never came back I was waiting for him to show up and like [ __ ] things up yeah like he was going to try and attack Missy again or something that would make sense honestly that's like when you said it was Isaac and her like I didn't know I was like it could be so many people like it it was probably just a random person from The Cult right like it like I was like it could have been the dude who got shot in the hand for groping her it could have been any number of people
could have been any number yeah so yeah that's another thing that like I feel like there were some missed opportunities with it but like it was still enjoyable um well and also on the flip side I think we've equally read those books where they like they do try and make sure that no stone is left unturned and they give all of that like we we get clarification on the dude who got shot in the hand we get clarification on the dad like we get clarification all of it
but at the end of it you're like [ __ ] a it was 600 pages and I did not care that much I was waiting for Robert to be like the the security guy to be like secretly a part of the cult or something like I was waiting for something yes um but that's okay cuz again it was still enjoyable it was still very sweet and like and not overly complicated yes it was a warm fuzzy read um so I'm comfortable with a four out of seven definitely let us know your thoughts if you read it yes let us know what you
would rate it how many snakes what kind of snake is our rating system cuz that's a whole other conversation Copperhead yeah that is an option yeah yeah I would go Copperhead feels more intimidated than like a little garden snake sure yeah I wouldn't go water moccasin cuz I'm genuinely terrified of those this book didn't seem scary enough to justify water moccasin no yeah so I would agree yeah four out of seven choose your own snake adventure heo and oh yeah that honestly
