Episode description

As an SLP working in a public school, we often see students who are struggling with language processing disorders. It’s common to feel like you need to jump into an intervention plan and work to fix every skill that the student is struggling with. However, this may not be the best course of action for helping the student.

In this episode, I am chatting with Dr. Karen Dudek-Brannan who helps pediatric SLPs transform their language therapy systems so they can help their clients make meaningful, consistent progress and live better lives. She does this through her online training programs and therapy materials.

In her research, she has found that it’s important to step back and look at the big picture with your student before moving ahead with an education plan.

In this Episode You’ll Discover:

  • How to create a learning system for kids with processing issues
  • Where to start when evaluating a new student
  • The 5 areas that feed into vocabulary
  • Why language growth is more than just a scripted curriculum
  • How SLPs are different than teachers
