Introducing Slow English Podcast

Hi, and welcome to Slow English with Elisa. If you don't know me, my name is Elisa. I'm Canadian. And I teach English and Italian. Welcome to my first podcast episode. I'm making this podcast because... Although I recommend Podcast Italiano for my students learning Italian, I haven't been able to find a good English podcast where they simply speak slowly.

I find that lots of podcasts are either too easy or too complicated. I haven't been able to find one where they have a neutral North American accent. and where they speak slowly, clearly, and naturally. So I thought I would just do it myself. I really hope that it's useful for you. My goal with this podcast is to give you the opportunity to practice your English comprehension skills as well as your pronunciation.

There is a transcript of this podcast available on my Patreon page at patreon.com slash itsalisa, not Alyssa. So, feel free to read along while you listen. Another useful exercise is to repeat sentences after me. Record yourself saying them. listen to your recording, and then listen to me again. That way, you can compare my pronunciation with yours.

About the Host, Elissa

So I guess I could use this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself. As I said earlier, I'm Canadian. I have a YouTube channel. where I make videos mostly teaching English and Italian. And I have so many hobbies. I like singing, playing the guitar, ukulele, piano. making videos, acting, drawing, and so much more. I also do voiceover, and I just opened an Etsy shop where I sell my art.

I just started it recently, so if you're looking for a custom portrait, then you've come to the right place. I usually use charcoal and pencil on paper. but eventually I'd like to start making paintings. We'll see how that project goes over time.
