Florida’s Sam Bennett has been the toast of the hockey world for his strong play in the Stanley Cup Final — which could land him a huge contract in free agency this summer. SLC Puck Austin Facer, who once thought Bennett would be a great fit for the Utah Mammoth, now believes his dominating performance and pending pay raise has actually put him out of reach for the club. He also sees national insiders agreeing on a few things; one, Utah has big plans and two, the team doesn’t want to overpay in free agency.
To Facer, that suggests a trade may be imminent. The Mammoth have no bigger trade piece than the 4th overall pick in this month’s NHL Draft. Let the rumor swirling begin.
