Hello, I'm Debra Goldstein, host of the game show The Big Fib. And I'm the sound effects robot, Lisa. Each week we bring you a hilarious podcast where human-child contestants have to figure out who's an actual expert. And who's a liar, liar, pants on fire. Just listen to the...
These great reviews on Apple Podcasts. User Addie Kitty says, I love this podcast. Lisa is my favorite. User Ichabog says, Lisa is so funny. Oh my God, they're right. And user Ice Wolf says, more Lisa. More, more, more, more. Interesting selection. Who picked these reviews? Not me.
Okay, I guess I am the liar. It was me. And oh, look at that! My pants are on fire! Everybody, my pants are on fire! For more fun facts and a few fibs, follow The Big Fib on Apple Podcasts or on gzmshows.com. Oh, my poor pants! There are kids in this world who are different. Special. They fell through a portal and got lost in the 80s. And now their time is running out.
Here we go. Pancakes for all. Thanks for making breakfast, Bird. Look at that. Two stacks. Chocolate chip and blueberry. Sam, River. Looks delicious, doesn't it? Very delicious. I guess. So, what are our plans for the day? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Ooh, I got that reference. Kinda tired, honestly. Ahem. I believe this moment is one humans would define as awkward. Or exciting?
Not every day you find out the teenagers you rescued are actually your mom and dad from the past. First of all, you didn't rescue us. And you left out the part where one of our supposed future daughters is a mermaid and the other is a robot. Are you okay with that term, Holiday? It's fine. And Bertie isn't technically a mermaid. She's more like a mutant, I guess. Anywho, Mom likes blueberry pancakes and Dad likes chocolate, so... What happens now?
We eat breakfast. He means to us. What happens to us now? According to the internet, James Anders and Dr. Monica Purcell Anders fell in love when she was in medical school. They married in 2001, and Cyrus Anders was born in... No, I mean now, now. Sorry. I'll let you handle this one, Birdie. Well, it's like we said. We have to switch you back and bring Mom and Dad home. Except you don't really know how to do that. We're working on it. Which means no. No, it means we're working on it.
And that attitude isn't helpful. You have a problem with my attitude? You're the one with the problem, mister. Did you just mister him? I know, I know. I heard it too. Look. Until we figure out how to drop you back in the 80s and get mom and dad home where they belong, we've got to stick together. As a team. As a family. Right, Saibot. Can everyone do that? Sam? Okay. River? Sure. But since we're your parents, we're in charge, right? No. Heck no.
Is this it? According to the Berlin phone book, this apartment belongs to one Cadence Cavendish. Same name as the girl who said she knew us at the concert. That's what Simon Andre's manager said anyway. Simon Andre, our son. Right. So, do we just knock? We can, but the door already appears to be open. Looks like maybe someone picked the lock. You're going in? It's not breaking and entering if the breaking has already been done, right? It's still entering. Since when is entering a crime?
Don't worry, Dr. Anders. I'll go first. Thank you, Mr. Anders. Cadence? Are you home? No one's here. Should we peek around? Now you're talking. Pretty sparse in here. No pictures on the wall. No paperwork laying around. So... James, do you suppose I always call you James? You think you have a nickname for me? Maybe. Like Jimmy? Jimbo? Definitely not feeling Jimbo. He didn't want to kill you. I'm already out. James? Monica? James! Monica! I remember!
Oh my gosh! We're in 1989. We sure are. But it's not just us. Simon Andre and his backup singer. We have to find Cyrus and Brinley. And find a way home to the kids. They could have at least helped to clean up after breakfast. They probably needed some air. It's a lot to take in. You're suddenly in the future with no memory, and these people tell you they're your kids? Yeah.
I guess maybe I was hoping that maybe they'd... That they'd be excited about it? No, I just... Seeing their reaction, it makes me miss mom and dad even more. I miss them too. I never thought we'd be living in Freaky Friday. And that we're not even the freaks. I can't believe those two teenagers outside are mom and dad. I mean, mom seems nice enough, but who knew dad was such a punk?
You don't really like blueberry pancakes, do you? They're okay. How about you? Are you okay? I am. I mean, I thought... A lot about time travel and how it could work theoretically, but now we're experiencing it firsthand. From a scientific level, this is absolutely incredible. Sounds like Holiday and Bertie will figure out how to open that portal and make everything right again. Probably wise, preserving the timeline and all that. They seem smart. Makes sense, since there are kids. Uh-huh.
Yeah, I know that part is really weird. That's not what I was thinking about. What were you thinking about? I was thinking about that awesome electronics store we were in. What about it? Well, I don't remember where we came from, and I'm sure the 80s were swell and all. But if I'm being honest, there's a lot of awesome stuff here. I mean, the flat-screen TVs and smartphones and virtual reality glasses.
There's a robot in there that looks like a real person We're living in the future Sam. What are you trying to say? I'm saying What if we decided not to go back Now that you've listened to this week's episode, head on over to the GZM Rewind feed to hear me and the creators talk with special guests, including cast members and superfans.
