Ep 5 - The Land Is Angered

We haven't done any shows this week. On to it, Brad was like, oh my god, it's the Table Story Holiday week. Uh. Just yeah, there's just been so many weird things going on all week that we haven't done any shows. But it's alive. We've done it. We've done it. How's it going?

Yeah, I feel if there's like a there's like a an anxiety that sort of like happens when you don't do first Yeah, when you don't do like a show for a week or something like, it's just I get I get like all anxious, like oh my, like I need to do some work or something

like I can't I can't relax or anything for that long. So yeah, I'm happy to be doing the show today. I'm excited. So that means since since I haven't done a second show this week. I'm gonna have to take all of that energy and put it into the show today, which probably is bad for you guys, but we're dead. It should be six hours of show. Yeah wait, I just fixed my sleep schedule. Hold on, I've done a twelve hour role playing show before. I've done a twelve

hour one. I mean, Myth's done a sabbath on for that. He rolled played for twenty four hours. We did twenty four hours D and D before Encounter, which was nuts. We should keep that in the past. Let's not do that anymore. We did an eight hours it was eight hours, six hour big zags and oh six hours. Yeah, that was I thought we were going to die. It was a lot. It was a lot. Yeah, it was a lot. It can be fun, but it's definitely a lot. It's a lot. No, we're not doing a

six hour show today though, just because everyone would die. So let's not do that. Go for it. We can do it. Fuck can do it together. It fucking you get up early too. You stream like early? What time do you usually start like nine? Well, I want to I try to start around seven. It always ends up being around eight. Huh. So the streamer schedule, So my goal is to hit around seven. But the move kind of like I moved recently, so it messed it all up. But my goal is to make it around seven again. So

I get up really early for a gamer. I listen, I get up early too. But my my reason that I get up is because my cat wakes me up for food ay morning every morning, like six six thirty every day. Yeah, mine'll yell at me through the door because I keep my door closed because they'll wake me up throughout the whole night if I don't, so they'll just start like howling and like like I don't know. My one cat figured out that if he palls against the door, it'll rattle in the

frame a little bit and wake me up. So I'll hear like this rattling, so I know it's time to get up, so I can't sleep in. See now, if I was Jay, I'd be terrified of that, like if Jay actually put his cats outside, because Bosco could just ram through the door, right, like Bosco would just leave a cat size I'm sorry, do you mean my Dodge Caravan sized cat? An cat? You've been looking down at my feet, like, let me up, human, It would just be a Bosco shaped hole through the door. Easy, no problem.

It is a virtual world set in the Ninth World, New min Era, the Ninth World, and the players are playing themselves, playing characters. It's a weird show. Jax Castler, who is a cheerful Nano who adures the Leviathan. And I just found this group last session and I've seen some shit, but they haven't yet, so let's see where it today goes. Thank you so much, Katie. I'm Wax Steven and I will be your administrator. Normally I'm the GM of Doom, dragging players kicking and screaming through adventures, but here I

let the players do that kind of thing to themselves. I am your humble administrator and I also play no the sort of interface that allows the players to work their simulacrum and interface with the with the world sort of in game GM, and yeah, chat if if you haven't if you haven't really seen the show before, you're probably going to be a little weirded out. In general, it does get kind of intense, so just a heads up on that

front. The players know that we usually have chats and whatnot after the show and uh, it's it's uh, it can get pretty intense and there's some really pretty difficult things to deal with during the show, and it was that was the intention with the show. So hopefully you're you're not super upset by it, but there is a goal here to have a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. So there's some some tough things that are said during the show,

and I hope, I hope everybody's okay. But otherwise, if if you're feeling I don't know, a bit too uh, I don't know, too emotional or or traumatized, you could probably head to the discord and talk to some people and and whatnot and they can kind of help talk you through it. Anyway, this is a show where we we do have the chat role playing sometimes along with the show. The players don't really watch the chat because loss of that and Uh, well, we'll see how everything goes with that

today. Otherwise, is everybody ready to get started here? Okay, enjoy the trauma chat. On the last episode of Simulacrum. Uh, the group was I think starting to come to terms with the fact that they are sort

of stuck here in this in this virtual world. And they had a sort of celebration as they helped out a town known as Cahord that was being sort of plagued by this horrific noise that was only only only the people in the town that were blind were unable to hear it, or they had to have some sort of protective earwear to stop them from from hearing this horrific noise and

I mean so loud that it would burst people's ear drums. Incredibly incredibly intense, and uh, they helped them, and the people of Kepward were extremely extremely happy about that, obviously, and they praised the group and called them the heroes of Keward. And they had a bit of a party there was there was some festivities and whatnot that went on. There's a lot of drinking and some drinking games, and the villagers, the town and the group here

got pretty sloshed and It was at that point that pockets character technome. She was kind of she kind of I guess faded. She sort of turned gray and was seemingly dead for the other players. She managed to wake up during the festivities, though completely unaware of what happened over the last few hours, as she missed all of the interactions with the New min Era and the Gazers,

these spheroid like automatons that were guarding this device. After they found the source of this, they also found themselves a device that allowed them to see twitch chat again. It was only for brief period of time, maybe about thirty seconds or so, but they got a glimpse of twitch chat, and that happened before the vice did. The New min Era sort of heatered out

and they got a little bit of insight. There was some chat messages that were saying that a Pocket might be dead and their bodies were convulsing and whatnot in the real world while they were in this game, and that apparently everyone could still see them on their streams. Their streams weren't going down, and Twitch could not take them down. After the party, they awoke as they as I think many people that have had a hangover before woke up to pretty

horrific and Nega, I think got the worst of it. I think you ruled a natural one on that role. I'm not mistaken. You're dru Yeah. Yeah. When they woke up, unfortunately, they found out that pb was gone, and they ran into Jax Castler, who had heard Pumpkinberry's name being said, who had escaped her own sort of trauma. She encountered an actual player killer, someone that she suspected of killing one of the other players

in the game. She stole a cipher from this player and was able to locate the group here and she sort of walked through a dimensional riff to get to the rest of the group. After talking around town and looking in Peebee's room, they found that they found a note that was written there and said that she had to leave, and they questioned about town and they found that she left with someone on a transport ship to the City of Bridges. Early

in the morning. They were weighing their options to determine what was the best route to get to the City of Bridges and possibly meet up with her, and they were worried about her, and they spoke with an Angolan Knight night seeker and Sulia who had a she drake and I'll never pronounce that correctly, Darcy, if you're still in the chat, I don't know how to pronounce the z drake or she drake. I'll never get it right. But they met up with this Angle and Knight and and uh Alric Shiloh gave a pretty

empowered speech to try and and get her help. It was a it was a really intense moment, and they managed to convince her to help look for for for their friend. The group had decided, I think, to uh head to the gallon stable in kV Hord and ride across the plains to the city of Bridges after the speech, because they had suggested to the Angule and Knight and Sulia that perhaps she could head that way and come back and they

might run into each other along the way. I think the group was just a bit flustered and they didn't really know the best way to handle it. But it was a good speech nonetheless, And we left off the last session with the with the group heading to the stable or some gallon. The stable owner there by the name of Lazin you had met previously. They were they had lent you some gallon to help with the with the disturbance that was going

on outside the city, creating the sounds and whatnot. So that's where we'll start today. Players, make sure that you have the chat closed. Chat. Actually, players, do me a favorite. Take off your headsets for just a second. It won't be too long chat. We're going to start

the RP up now. While the group is setting things up here and getting their transport their gallon, there were several people that were questioning what was going on with pbs stream, and you saw that she was in fact abducted by someone that was going by the name of Fang, somebody that was clearly a player from the real world and not an NPC, somebody that had been banned in the table story chat, someone that was obviously upset about it and had

some power in this situation. They took pb on a trade ship for the City of Bridges on Pebe's stream. Over the course of the morning and whatnot, you would have seen them get onto the trade ship with Fang sort of frightening her the whole way basically at the sharp edge of a blade, and getting on the trade ship. She would have gotten put into like a dark room and the stream basically would have gone dark. You would have seen nothing

on her stream from that point she got covered up. You saw basically a blanket getting thrown over her, and there would just be sort of really sad sounds like you might expect murmurs and whatnot coming from Peb throughout the whole time, lots of sort of begging and whatnot going on. You would have seen the person known as Fang take away her things, and it was it was pretty brutal, and it just kind of would continue going on on on her

stream throughout this encounter here. You might hear the occasional noise, but it's it's a lot of sort of sobbing and whatnot. It's probably pretty terrifying. Maybe a few murmurs and whatnot. That's what you'd be saying on her stream. Get the players to uh run on their headset. Okay, so uh you head to the h you head to the the stables for the gallon? What do you do? Is it possible to get like a brief description of

the area real quick? Sure? The town of Kepford is uh, it's in general like a it's a it's a lumber town, so a lot of wood but like anything you'd see in the Ninth World, there's a lot of there's a lot of like alien looking shapes and sort of technologies that are mixed in with very rudimentary construction techniques like wood and stone. And then suddenly, like part of the building is a strange metal that reflects light in a really

strange way, like you can't really understand how that happens. Or there might be a sort of spheroid shape to a building, as opposed to the way that most of these buildings would have what we would expect, like a sort of box like rectangle building with a slanted roof, you know, to keep the rain off of it. It's it's a lot of like strange structures and

whatnot. There's some would appear to be some like rice paddies and whatnot that are around for the for for food production and some small farms, but otherwise it's it's like a sort of rolling hills and on one side of the village there's a very large forest that you can see that that that's you can't see the end of it, and it's sort of like on a river, so there's a river that pours into the bay. The stable itself is much like the rest of the buildings. It's probably just a wooden sort of space.

Maybe there's like some thatched roof that comes down, but like simultaneously, like the the like water trough that the gallon seem to be drinking out of is probably some metallic like alien looking like remnant, right Like, it's probably just like it looks like it could be part of an engine or something that has just been sort of cleaned out and haulowed out and filled with water. And these gallon they're they're sort of like like maybe a like a little bit smaller

than a horse, but probably like stockier meteor. They look like this. Yeah, I imagine they're being like a giant heat lamp in this. Yeah.

Well these, you know, a lot of these creatures, a lot of these creatures in the Ninth World aren't purely like reptile, right Like, they don't fit into our animal kingdoms like what we would understand are reptile being They might have some insect DNA as well as some million DNA and some you know, reptilian DNA like it doesn't they have a different rule book that they're

going by. Their their classification of animals is probably a lot different than ours, and some of them have you know, automaton components inside of them, you know, that have just kind of integrated with the flesh, and trying to put them into any sort of classification would be really difficult. But in general, this place is pretty warm. I would say, like it's it's probably like, you know, close to eighty degrees fahrenheit, so you know

it's pretty warm. Otherwise, Yeah, it's kind of it's kind of a thatched stable. You can see there's there's gallon that are in there, and they're drinking from the wander trough. I'd be walking up and just like holding my hand around them or you know, need them to try and get them used to me and maybe hoping that somebody else is doing the talking. I don't know, just immediately going over to them. If there's room is leason

around good question, I don't know. Should we just kind of do a little app and check ye yeah, yeah, I'm a I'm a I'm gonna go in and try to see if I can get these things used me because if you want to try to find lasin and see, I'm just gonna go try to grab one of these and start rounding them up. I think he'll understand. I hope, yeah, I'll I'll see if I can find him. And I'm just going to wonder with her because last time I was on one of these, they threw me off and I got injured and it was

bad. So I'm just gonna go with her. Yeah, they weren't they weren't super kind to you last time. No, they didn't like me. We're almost going to get phone off, but I caught you. But that's fine, dude. Yeah, you know semantics details. So I want to see if I can go into the structure next to where they're chilling drinking water see if we can find our buddy. Okay, just looking around, I think you don't see him, but you probably hear him. There's probably probably

uh, there's probably some noise coming from behind the stable here. It sounds probably like somebody's shoveling something. Hello there, Hi, hi, Hi, Hi again, it's us. Hello. Sorry. I didn't want to bother you, but we have a mention. Lazin is one of the people by the way that's blind, so he's kind of doing the thing where he's trying to listen for you. Unfortunately, as much as We've liked our time in

your town. It's been brought to our attention that somebody needs help elsewhere much as we helped you and your people here, and unfortunately we do not have enough time to make it where we are needed. We need to travel a lot faster. Would you mind terribly if we borrowed your fine gallon that you have outside, like lean over and whisper? How are we gonna borrow them? If? If you know, we'll get there one step at a time. Okay, okay, Please please make a difficulty three intellect check in regards

to persuasion. No O'Leary, you have rolled a natural one. I don't know why we let me talk. It never goes well. I thought you had the silver tongue, Yeah I do. Apparently the rolling well doesn't go along with that. Though you did good when you were drunk. I think you just got to get into your character a little more, you know. I think I need to drink a little more. Maybe that's the secret. Yeah, I think so too. We'll worry about that after we deal with

this one that you just rolled. Though. Okay, that means a GM intrusion will happen unless you pay one XP would you like to pay one XP. Uh, yeah, I'll pay one XP. The GM intrusion has been canceled, so I think I think Layson sort of like stop shoveling, leans on the shovel. You can see that they're probably digging out. Uh there's probably some like rocks or something like the large rocks just off to the side of the building that they're just trying to I guess move or get out of

there or something so that nobody uh steps on them or something. And uh, he says, unfortunately, it's it is my business. I we do appreciate everything that you've done for us, but it does cost my me to to use these creatures. Gallan, how much does it cost? Well, it's it's three shinn a day. Okay, Well, I will have to confer with the party. I'm not sure how much money we have, but I understand you're a man of business. You're just looking out for yourself.

Would it be at all possible, perhaps maybe just a little bit to get a slight saved the town from an eternal noise damnation for forever, an all eternity discount just a little bit. I'm already doing that. Normally it's five, got it? Sure, just double checking, Thank you. I will be right back and I'm just gonna scamper right back to to everyone outside with the gallon. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, how much time do we think? This could take a lot of time? Anyway. We don't want to bet on the fact that we'll make more money while we're over there. I don't think any money at all. What about we could just I feel like, I don't know, I don't know. Let's just pimp out commercon you know, while we're there. Yeah, I don't I don't know. If sell me. I mean it works well body the love Well no, I was talking about like manual labor. But I mean I guess that works too.

I guess we could do that. Yeah, I mean yeah, I'm up in my MIC's score so we can. Yeah. See I'm not so I wouldn't be much use. I could heal people, do miracles, maybe small miracles, turn water to wine, walk on water. Maybe. Suggestion okay, set a miracle, you can. It's the same suggestion that I made. Why don't we just pay for these and then go and figure it out after because we don't want to steal. The last thing we want to do is like be go from hero to thief, you know, stealing.

If we like buy for a week and then just like, oh sorry, we took three weeks to get back. Here's the money that we made on the way to make up for taking three extra weeks. But at the same time, we're gonna have no money then, like I know money with us idea, Jay, you and I are Jax. We have that lucky break

thing. Do you think that might help? I haven't used it yet in the game, but I only have one XP left, so I have more and I don't mind using it if it makes it easier for us to just get out of here without worrying that we're gonna be chased down for not paying for these things. Yeah. Yeah, we could lucky break it maybe and try to find some money after the fact, or or before maybe, or we could just start talking, you know, just just start going, you

know, just or what if no, this won't work. I don't say. What if we just take one? But no, that won't work. Yeah, I mean we could take two and maybe could we ask if three of us would fit on one? The person you're debating in front of an influential Eon priest trip will forget what they were going to say or something that was supposed to last only around or two lasts a little while longer. Yeah, wouldn't it be really crazy lucky of a break if there was just a lot of shins

nearby, like somewhere, just like a lot of them. God, they would be so lucky, like ten feet away. Okay, So, uh, I think what if we used it and uh something fell on his head and incapacitated him for a short amount of time long enough for us to take them and go, and then we'll just bring them back and pay when we get back. Well, I can't try talking to him before we will eat them like that? Oh you want to talk? Okay, Okay, I

mean good lass are said on that? So I think what happens actually is someone it's it's actually uh, it's actually the mm hmm oh god, someone here's us talking like this. You actually see the the the the little girl that you originally ran into when you came into the village. Very she what's your name again? Very? Very? You see her sort of running over to the group. She says, yeah, hello too, nice to see you again. Do you give us a ladder? Well, she gave a

lot. She went and got help too, which is really nice. You know saved your ears. Thank you so much for helping our town. I heard that you were you were trying to get some of the gallon. Yeah, we are. What's up, ladder girl, My name is Very, sorry, Very. It's not much, but she like she takes out like a handful of shins from her pocket. She says, you made it so the noise stop. much. You know, there was a woman with us that we're actually trying to find, and this is going to help us find her. So thank you so much. What a lucky break you've given us. that you perceived that this is gonna sound so corny like the matrix? I would I would picture it like like it's it's it's a video game that we're in that we're stuck and that's now the real world, Like this is now our world, but like things get overlaid with like just it gets mapped out and and it shows like all the beings around and how they're connected, and it's like we're all one and how I don't know, I would imagine that's

something like kind of how it is and it's all connected in my brain even though I don't fully understand it. I just got like hit with it, you know, randomly while it was on a ladder. So I think I think, uh, you can probably see what most people can't see, which you can actually see nanites and things moving about now obviously normal normally their their microscopic, but you have some way that you're able to perceive them sort of

moving about, floating through the air and whatnot. You see them sort of moving on currents. And the longer that you've been here, the more aware of it you've been. Okay, it's it's been like a it's it's just been you're getting like acclimated to it. You you know, maybe at first it might have you might have thought they were just like bugs crawling on the rock or something, or kind of like fireflies or something. Yeah, but it's it's very I think it's it's just it's very sort of almost a detached

kind of feeling. You just kind of see stuff floating around. Is that pollen? No, those are little like little nanites that are moving. No way about it. See if I can like disrupt it. Yeah, it does kind of like you're moving your hand through smoke almost, And when you put your hands through, when you concentrate on it, you can feel your hand like moving through them. And I'll leave it up to you how that

feels. But I think all of you might notice her sort of swatting at the air here and there, or you know, sort of catch her sort of like looking at her hands or whatnot. Ever, since you sort of woke back up from that gray state that you were in, there's been a

certain level of communication that's been happening. And I think for you, there's probably been a few times when people have been talking or whatnot where you have to like ask them to repeat themselves or what But you know how sometimes you can hear birds in the morning it seems like they're talking to each other. I don't really understand what's going on, but you may be able to understand

a mood or a situation that's happening. Just by the the way that they're sort of chirping like danger or something along the warning of something coming towards them. There's a there's a there's a feeling like that that you have, like ever since you woke up, it's been more acute and would almost feel like it's getting like I wouldn't say louder, but just so obvious. It's starting to get like annoying, and it's like, oh, why can't I just

see normal? Like what's going on? Am I malfunctioning? I don't the more that this is happening to you. Over the course of of this, like last day or so, you realize that that you are sort of in tune with this sort of datus feel you're getting. It's like bursts of information. And I don't know how you perceive this, Jacks, but this is something that you would see. It might not be the same way, but as a nano, this is something that nanos are in tune with. How

do you think that you would perceive that? I would imagine like wisps of light passing by me, and like some of them form shapes and other things. While some just pass by quickly. Okay, yeah, I was gonna say that, the like the nanit's on my hand kind of feel like when this like a sun ray hit your skin and it warms up just that part of the skin, Like it feels like that, but like since it's so many hitting, it's like little beads. It's just all over and it's warming

like spots on my skin. But I don't see anything on it, Like nothing's changing. I'm not getting actually hotter or anything. It's just very weird feeling. Okay. The longer that you're here, and I don't know if it's a feeling in your stomach or what, but the more that you interact with these beams of light or the way that you sort of see these nanites, you get the feeling that this place that you're in is not virtual. This is a real place. You don't know when it happened, but there's

been a certain level of detachment. When you first entered the game, like with any video game, you could see the polygons or whatever. As you've been here, you've it just kind of happened. It just kind of faded from memory. But people look like people, things look like solid things. They don't look like models, and the world's not like hollow with nothing underneath

that you can like falter the world like it's all there. Yeah, this is a This is something that has sort of I don't know how long it's it's taken, but at least over the course of the last day, there's been that feeling that's been kind of building up and you're in the pit of your stomachs and it's you Jackson and you Technom that have been sort of feeling this, and you know, I know, I know Jax has been sort of a bit timid since all of this stuff has started happening, but I

don't know if that's part of it or not. So you guys are to myself, Yeah, I would keep it to myself for now because I I don't fully understand, like I think I know in my gut, but I don't want to like admit it to myself yet, just like, oh, this is a like in my head, like this is an interesting part of the game. I didn't know it's just what my character does, like what's going on, but in my gut it's like I know, So it's just very weird for me. I feel like I keep it to myself just purely

because they've had a different journey than me. It seems a little bit more happy, so lucky in a way, and trying to explain that there was a shift at some point and that it's not pretend seems challenging at this moment. Can we all feel this or just the nanos? Just the nanos? Okay, this is something that Nano's experience. Uh, they're they're called glimmer bursts, and they're connections to the data sphere. They are connections to all

these to the nanotechnologies and things that are going on. If you if you are curious about these kinds of things, that's actually what the just to step out of character here, that's actually what the what the kickstarter is about for Monty Cook. It goes into depth on the data spheres and these glimmer bursts, and it explains, from my understanding, sort of explains why this kind of thing happens and how it happens. It's that aspect of the story.

So if you're interested in that kind of thing, check out the Liminal Shores Kickstarter. But it is a thing that Nano's experience. Yes, cool, I think we I think we head out after that, we probably all start walking. We are looking for a ride though, Just to clarify right where like, if we see a wagon that can maybe fit us, we would definitely flies them down. Yeah yeah, I don't know if we like a

rolling perception for that or not, or I have b steery knowledge. Can I tap into like the nanosphere and see if there's an animal around that I know we could ride. Everyone except Jack's Castler can make an intellect check based on perception Difficulty three Jack's Castler. If you are attempting to locate a creature that eats flesh and is non humanoid, you can use your lore of flesh eating non humanoids. Difficulty is three. Okay, while you're heading out of

town, there are several other creatures besides the gallon. We'll say less than a mile out of town that you have sort of walked out, you can see that there are these other creatures. They're much larger than the gallon. They are sort of gray skin and bipedal. They have sort of like these little t rex kind of arms. But you can see that there are there are we'll say three of them outside of town that are being ridden outside of

town. You can see that there's like there's some like cargo basically strapped to them. They have these sort of saddle bag like things, and yeah, you can see them sort of like walking along the way. They obviously look like some kind of like a herd animal kind of thing. Like they're there, there's people that are riding them and jacks. Uh. You would know,

not necessarily the exact same thing. These are not the same creatures, but you know that in these sort of plane like environments there are creatures that you might be able to control with your special abilities. Specifically, there are some really scary creatures that you might be able to control. I have to find them. Hold on. Yeah, there are these like strange bug like creatures. They're sort of like insect like humanoids. They're known as co chatan.

A lot of these creatures are not friendly. M There are also creatures known as shivern mm hmmm uh. They are essentially shadow creatures. They they're sort of humanoid like. They're not exactly the best to ride or anything along those lines, but they they are around. I mean, these aren't things that you see right now, but you know that they might be findable on the trip there's also umem nothing really friendly though. Are the bipedal ones? U? No, they have nothing to do with that. If you want,

everybody can make an intellect check based on uh on beast knowledge. What was the perception check for that was to see if you if there's anything along the way. And everybody rolled, well, so it only you only had to walk about a mile or so before you started finding creatures that were Okay, does the twenty get anything? Did you roll? You roll the natural twenty? Yeah? Okay? And then oh wait no no, no Katie got the nineteen. I thought Mega got it. Yeah, so yeah,

there there there's probably like a group of these creatures. These are what you see, Yeah, the bipedal t rexes. Oh, there we go. You see these creatures. Uh, they're sort of like making these I think the sounds that they're making are probably kind of whale like kind of noises they're

being, say, I imagine a whale like thing with them. Yeah, but you would know Technome and and all of you just by looking at these things, you immediately kind of recognize what these what these are the information pops into your brain. These are anine. They are essentially creatures that that they're sort of like pack animals. They're they're you know, uh, they're domesticated creatures that sort of roam these lands. I love them so much, so

much. But yeah, they're making this kind of whale like sort of noises there as they're moving about. Can we ride these things? Uh? Yeah, I mean yeah, you can see there's like there's some there's some that like look like they're just kind of loaded with gear, you know, and they're sort of like leashed together as they're walking, and they've got that sort of like you know, that sort of hunched sort of walk. But their legs look very powerful. I mean their legs alone obviously are about the size

of a person. How fast are they moving. They're making like a decent pace of me faster than walking. For sure. They're not really running. You're not seeing any that are really running. They're just kind of like at a at a good clip maybe six seven miles an hour. These they are like rubber cows. I like Ducky from Land Before Time. We could try to ride that, I mean, I can control there's like there's people riding them. I mean it looks like there's people that are they have they have

several of them that are just kind of like leashed together. There's two or three people on the back of one of them, and they're they're sort of loaded down with some gear. I think that you probably see that they have like a bunch of kindling and stuff and some firewood that they've got strapped at the back of this thing. Also maybe some other food stuffs and whatnot, bags of rice, those kinds of things. Seems to be their headache.

They look like they're they're headed probably. I mean, I don't know if you have the cardinal directions down, but if you're going by the sun, you can assume that they're they're sort of making their way west. Can I can I I don't know if this is possible, but can I do like a perception check or something to see if I can follow the nanites to tell like directions better? Does that make sense? Because if I'm in tune with that, I mean, wouldn't I think it's just the general way that you

do things, that's how you perceive things. Yeah, it probably hasn't. Really, it's it's second nature to you already. You're the way that you interact with the world and the way that you interact with here. Esso, Tery's is using these nanits. Okay, that makes sense. Okay, so if I need to do something, i'd be like, well to tell the

direction I follow the nanits? And what are they telling me? You're just now probably realizing, like when you were finding the new Man Era out in the woods, it was probably nanites that were glowing that you were seeing. Okay, like the equivalent to feeling the arcane breathe. Yes, there's like a bug creature here somewhere, I can What do you mean that sounds promising? I got a question by it eats flush. They make their way over towards you. You can see it's a it's a woman and two

of her children. They're probably in their teens, and and uh, she's kind of like she just has like a like something on on top of her head, probably just to keep the sun out while they're making the trip. She's got the kids kind of like wrapped up. Otherwise it's pretty it looks like pretty airy kind of clothing. And she she says, yes, hello, I don't talk. Hi, Hi, okay, is I neither? What Why are you saying? I thought the deal was you would, but

sounds very intimidating. And you live close enough to it, is it not a horrible as it sounds. It just sounds intimidating. Well, they there are many gallon that lives nearby, But no, they're strange to look at. Sure gallon, you say, like wild gallon? Oh, yes, there's many herds of gallon. Look everybody else with You have to be very careful though, if you interact with them. Wild birds of gallon can well, they can scare easily. Are they easy to tame? Not exactly if

you don't have any practice. H I have cats, I don't know if they're similar. And cats are easy. What is a cat? Ah, it's a lot like a gallon, but just like really small kind of like and you can bring it indoors. And yeah, they're just very domesticated and sweet. Harry, Yeah, definitely, Harry. But you know, similar shape and build and all that. They're from where we're from. So yeah, change, I never heard of gosh. I wish, yeah, I wish I could see you. And uh, she she'll hop onto the to

her gallon and and uh does everyone ready ready? When you are? I think so over commercing, too much fun, shoving your wings. I'm sorry, they're big. I can't help it, just like you you're big wings, slider the max. We're just so much I think, as comfortable as we're going to be. It's definitely it's definitely not comfortable. I mean it's lumpy and you can't you can't. I mean you can't really get your legs over in a comfortable way. You know, you're always like a skew a

little bit. They're really wide too, right, so it's like your legs are like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean go inside saddle as a possibility, but you have to be. You're constantly adjusting. It's not a comfortable ride. I finally end up where I just lay across it like like this, with my feet dangling off the other side and my wings up behind me so that way they can't like knock into anything. And I'm just like the wings are counterweight to her body. These creatures, these creatures

are being led. Coda's leading them with her gallon, with her onion. So you're not really rushing at any sort of a fast pace here, like when you were rushing through the forest. So there's no role that really has to be made to control these animals, and you start your way out. Is anybody trying to do anything, because we'll do a bit of a time skip here. Just a rolling perception is what I'd usually be doing. I'm looking at the nanites. I'm trying to study the nanites because I'm still trying

to understand them better even though I'm getting used to them. And I'm like, I'm slowly letting my gut take over my gut feeling. Okay, that's about it. My character is always tinkering. Oh I am doing recovery. Sorry, yeah, we're going to do that as well. Oh, I want to do recovery as well. Actually, I'm always tinkering. I'd like to craft a cipher, but I completely understand the narrative that I can't.

Yeah, you essentially need a place to kind of work on stuff. You can try to do it here, it will be significantly harder, right well, I mean why not. What else am I going to do? Is i'd recover right now? Nice? If you are recovering, you can't be doing this at the same time. I mean, if you're using just your

first action one, then that's the first action is what we're doing. And then which is great because that's got beautiful Oh yeah, and then I would like to try because why not try to create a cipher because I have none still? You're gonna be traveling for a few hours.

These are the views that you're seeing here, in general are very beautiful, sort of the rolling hills of grass, strange plants and things. As you're making your way along, you know, there's a there's a lot of atmosphere here, you know, you're getting the feeling of the wind and everything, and it's just it's just a kind of like wide open space. It's a lot different, obviously than being in the village and hearing that sound and being

overwhelmed by it. Here there's this just this wide open nature experience that you're in, this wide open field of plains and whatnot, and this sort of serene landscape that you're passing through. There's there's just this you know, this like constant wind that's going on, and it's it's it's probably pretty refreshing because it's it's a bit humid and it's hot, but there's this like fresh breeze

that's constantly rolling through. If you've ever been to sort of like a tropical island or that kind of a feeling where the where the sea is reasonably close and there's a lot of flat land, even if there's a lot of humidity, it'll it's it's not a stagnant humidity, it's it's a it's a sort of rolling feeling. So it's a pleasant it's a very pleasant breeze that's sort of flowing through here. But there is a lot of wind. These are.

These are sort of big open plains. As you move away from h Kephard, you're sort of heading like north and and west at the moment, as you're making your way around the forest that was near Cafford to the west near the coast. As you're as you're moving across these these rolling hills and plains. After a few hours, Uh, there is something that starts to worry you. The wind is increasing in its severity. It started out just kind of like as a pleasant breeze, but now it's getting to the point

where you can barely hear yourselves think the wind is blowing really hard. Still clear out, but really intense wind. It's whipping by. If you have any clothing that's kind of loose, it'll be like slapping against you, you know, like and just getting stuck against your against your body. You'd see like the grass kind of like flying almost horizontal as the wind is whipping through

all rick. You're trying to work on some kind of device here. The way that crafting works, there's a as a right, you're primarily a crafter. You kind of like need a place to work, you need time to work, and you need materials. You have yourself some of these components you have iotum that you've salvaged from her, from these from these experiences thus far, the way that the crafting works basically is, uh, you determine, like what kind of object you're trying to create. What are you trying to

create? I was thinking a cipher, but nothing of any specific, So I was just gonna fiddle and roll on the table. Okay, So all right. What I'd like for you to do then is to at a character, because in character I would still think that they'd be like, hey, it doesn't matter, let's make a cipher and whatever it is, it will get random ull rick shiloh. It seems like you are trying to craft a

cipher. Is this correct? Yes? Please roll? Let's see. This is gonna be a D one hundred followed by a D six h yeah. Yeah. So, uh, this iotem that you have has sort of turned into a kind of liquid sort of thing. It's looking like, uh, some kind of spray of some kind. Please roll a difficulty five intellect act. In regards to crafting new min era Um, I'm gonna spend an edge on it, or spend effort uh twice, I'm training it is that an

asset? No? Please roll from your skill list you have crafting New min Era. I did that, Yes, I was just wondering if it was an asset, if I had a train you are trained in crafting New min Era or no further assets than get rolled in eighteen. So as you are doing this, it just kind of comes naturally to you. You're creating some kind of container the iotem. You sort of break it apart. I don't know how you do it. I'll let that be up to you. What

does it look like as you're doing this? What does the experience look like? Sure, so you said it will be a spray device. It's a spray device. Yes, so you are creating essentially a slash retardant spray slash and retardant spray. Okay, so yeah right, Uh so I get rayon kevlar kind of pretty much spray on chain mail. Yeah, the BAM. So I guess, uh what if anybody's watching or looking, I'm taking out I'm fiddling with all these different like iotem. I have mentioned the iotem before

as some sort of like dark blueish glowy ore looking thing. But one of them that I take out, it kind of is a little it looks like it's been melting. It's got a little bit of a sludge. The viscosity is a lot lower than the than the the I guess the the booger type iotem that we had before. But this one I start to use UH, and I take out and I start to apply it and need it within my

fingers until it starts to get a little drip stiffer. And then I use the same bottle and the vial that was in it, and I place it back in with with I guess some of the parts that I would probably used, maybe some of the surgical tubing from from the scrap and parts that we had from the spherical iotems or the spherical new Monera back the gazers, and even maybe the the laser tip or something, the parts that we've salvaged from

them, I fashioned into the nozzle of this this piece. What you see is a small vial and now with inky dark like a the a big inky dark liquid with some surgical tubing and the laser bit from the from the gazer UH, and I test it and it sprays this and as it sprays through the air, probably the the nanos in the party would see it start to glimmer, and I like the cloud glimmer. And then as it would as like a cloud of for breeze or a cloud of spray would dissipate, so

does the light that would come from it. And then I just kind of put it back in the that don't work. Yeah. I think as you're working on it, you realize that it's it's kind of bulky as you're making it. It starts to get more elaborate as you work on it. Like first you start with this little vial, but it starts to be this like this bulky handheld device and it's kind of got like a large tank and like

a wide hose kind of thing to spray it. But yeah, fire hydrant size, and this is going to cost you some iotem is it level two? Uh So this device is a level four and it was a difficulty five

because you were doing it on the back of a knean. Yeah yeah, yeah in the wind okay, yeah, Technome, I'll explain to you some things that are happening in just a second, okay, because as this wind is kicking up and this is something again that Jacks and Jay and Una, you're noticing, like over the last couple of minutes, it's been it's been starting to get like really kind of intense. The uh, the entire thing is, uh, it's it's it's it's starting to get a bit like overwhelming.

Okay, you're also noticing something the three of you. As the wind is picking up, you see the ground start to move. I got some shit's going wrong. At first, you see the grass like you think it's the grass, you know, like it's just getting whipped around or something by the wind. But then you realize is that the ground beneath the grass seems to be moving. Do I notice anything in the nana nanos that's different thing?

Oh yeah, that's how That's what gives you your tip. Here, as the wind picks up, in an almost like goose flesh like reaction, the ground reacts to the wind. You can see the nanites are sort of grouping up. There's sort of pools of them. And I guess the way

that you described was sort of like bits of light. So you can see the light is just getting like really kind of intense in certain areas, and the ground starts to you start to see still lag my come from the ground, right, Yeah, yeah, they come from the ground and they start to burst forth ship going on. Is this normal? Coda? Is this normal? You can't even hear coda. The loud sounds are overwhelming. You can see the the unan are definitely bothered. And that's a good place for

return. As the winds are picking up, and yeah, Jacks, you are you are noticing the the nanites and things moving about at pretty crazy speeds. You can see those are sort of moving all about, and everybody starts to hear this, this sort of like rumbling of these rocks. Can I do the post? What are you looking for to see if it's created by any sort of being? If I'm looking at the nanites, is it created by a certain being? Or is it just like a phenomenon that's happening right

now, kind of like an earth quake. You were kind of trying to get in tune with the nanites before. What were you looking for before this? I was trying to study them to see if I could differentiate the difference between like the land and the thing the creatures that were alive, and like the flow of where everything's going and how it rests. Okay, Just so just a general kind of study of how they sort of interact with the world. Yeah, I don't think. I don't think you really. I don't

think I'll really make you do a role. You're a nano that's kind of like what you do. They're all over the place. I mean, they're everywhere, equivalent to germs or bacteria around the world. They're everywhere. It's very pervasive and as as I think you can imagine, as the wind sort of whips around, you'll see the nanites just kind of whip around through the wind, and you can see they're crawling on the grass, and they're crawling

on everybody, and they're very much a part of this world. Is this a like big luster of nanites or is this just the world like shooting up out. I think I think that you were kind of focused, just probably in a small space. Everybody else was kind of doing these these checks. You probably were just kind of in the zone. You were studying what allows you to do what you do basically from what the sound is, from the sound of it, and you maybe you were trying to use some of your

hedge magic and whatnot before. But you'll see that your hedge magic is actually closely related to these nanites. You would see that they are the things that are actually doing the hedge magic. So the small objects I could make and whatnot are actually just them. They're the nanites that are creating these objects. Okay, Yeah, that's why I'm mister Smith. Yeah, creating things.

I mean, I mean in that sense of like if I was like, here's a cup in front of you and it just like forms itself around it, almost like a three D printer kind of thing. Yeah, in my hand, Yeah, it just it would. I think with the hedge magic, it's meant to be sort of a flash in the pan kind of thing, so it might it might be there for a second, or it just disappear, you know, after it's not it doesn't have real structure to it. Yeah. Yeah, the rest of you, you're you're seeing this,

I mean, this is this is crazy. You're seeing stalagmites shoot up from the ground, and I think that you're a nine start to you know, they're they're starting to uh to move around and uh buck as you're all on them. Yet Yeah, I think I think this is bad. I think that these are these are the things that the wind things, the iron wind. I really hope not. Yeah, this would be bad, this would make sense, but this but this is the this is bad. This is

okay, we gotta get everyone. Please make a speed check. Oh boy, in relation to riding animals, a difficulty m sorry one second suspense? Does that scene in the Wizard of Oz from the Tornado brings Dorothy? But it difficulty is three? Obably? What? Okay? This isn't knowledge based task, is it? Oh? This is not a knowledge based task? Uh uh? Does a skill reacting count? Oh? No, difficulty three? We all get three? Yes, that's perfect. Wow. At least

we're consistent among the party. No one's getting left behind. We all fail together, thank you, we all win together. We all fail together. Wow. Okay, So what happens below you. A salagmite forms, shoots upwards, forms, and the anine gets thrown. Everybody flies off of the anine down to the ground as this wind is whipping through rocks and things are

flying through the air. Little bullets of rock essentially are moving all about as these salagmites shoot up from the ground and they sort of make like a wave like motion in response to the wind. Uh. You all hit the ground hard. Uh, everybody is going to roll. Actually, who wants to be the volunteer to roll? I will pocket pocket roll two D six for me? Please? Okay? Three again? Three? So the Uh, the whole group hits the ground pretty hard, falling off of the onien who

are sort of bucking. The one that you were on is connected, you know, via a like a leash, like a lead to the other two. And you can hear Coda sort of like yelling you it's it's too she's like too far away. It's too loud. You can't really make it out, but just hear, you know, just sort of screaming trying to reach you. Over the wind. Everything is chaos. The anion gets thrown into the air, and your aniene starts to uh, like get launched up by

the by the stalagmite. They're sort of like on an angle flowing with the wind, and the onion gets tossed up into the air. You all fly hit the ground, Rocks begin to pelt you. Everyone takes three damage through your armor. Mike, Yeah, this will be might damage, yes, nice and uh yeah, these little like pebbles that are essentially bullets are just flying through, smacking you in the body, and it's it's brutal and uh.

The the wind you can hear it starts to like fade, but it's hard to see as there's lots of rocks and things moving through the air and we're all like on the ground kind of oh yeah, that's go to keep moving with the herd. Uh. The anine stopped because of this. The sort of center one, uh, that that several of you were on got launched. Now one of the other the other one that had the rest of the group, got sort of like pulled and smacked and you just kind of

fell off of the anine into this chaos. The anine look like they're uh, they're kind of like injured like as they're as they hit the ground, but they do kind of like all fall over. You can see Coda and her two children also fall to the ground. I'm in like fighting sand. Then I've got love. We got both the daggers out looking for whatever this is, no matter how futile it might be, maybe trying to back out towards the grier you think coming at us. Besides, like, obviously we

got hit off the thing. But is anything else coming at us right now, like any monster or anything visible? No, there are bullets of pebbles still coming at us from there. They're kind of like whipping around. It looks like they're kind of dying down. I kind of just like get loaded down. Fuck, what the hell was that? As the wind starts to die down, you can see the the lag mites start to shrink back into the grounds that were those the iron winds. I have no idea. I

run over to Coda. Yeah, I run over to her, and I start picking up her children, trying to help them up. I'm start trying to the collected any scattered supplies. I'm gonna start trying to pick up for them. Sam, Donnie, are you all right? Or are they uh uh, they're they're they're there there. They look like they're sort of covered by some of the supplies. Sam is trying to like push some stuff off the anine Uh is sort of like doing the thing where it's a kicking its

legs trying to find a way to sort of get back up. You can imagine these creatures are not really meant to fall onto their sides like this is. It's pretty dangerous, and the legs are sort of kicking about. You can see Sem, Sem and Donnie are trapped below some supplies and they're trying to free themselves, as as Coda is. She's she's trying to get close,

but the ain is still like kicking trying to find a way. It's making these like panicked Sorry, it's they're making sort of like the panicked, like repeating these warbling kind of noise noises in a much more like hurried pace. I'll try and skid her under the legs if Technom doesn't beat me to it, to try and get the things off of the other kids so they don't get trampled. Just to be clear who's doing this, it's it's Jay and oh no I'm not I'm not gonna go and I don't have good mite

and speed, so I will I'll assists Jay. We'll also assist I'll try to help to. I'll get ready to heal. Someone's gonna get kicked. I'm like doing that is there underneath the Amerson? Oh no, please roll a speed check Difficulty three. You have been assisted by three members of your party. Yeah you have three assets? All right? Yeah you're just yelling. Okay, Okay, I have a question. I can't even go that high. I can I use my hedge magic to make a blindfold for the

anine. You know how when you blindfold a horse, they calm down a lot more because they can't see around them. The anine, if I can make like a blind blinders around it, so that way, it like maybe calms down a little bit. Does that? Hope that makes sense? I may not understand, but I get it. Yeah, just kind of like little blinders for them. Even though they don't last a long time or something. Your application of hedge magic will be impossible for this task. Okay,

it was a good thought. Yeah, So can you explain how the three of you are helping Jay to rush through these very big kicking legs I mean muscular kicking legs. I mean, you know how horses have really like large thighs and this sort of like legs in out these creatures have like big meaty thick like ice les. Yeah, these are big thick legs. So these are very heavy, meaty legs. I'm sorry. How close are they together, these these anene because you say there's maybe ten feet apart from each one.

H Okay, I know what I'm gonna do. I guess I'm running underneath. So when I start seeing these legs like piston kick horse horse keel,

I'm gonna start I'm going to uh. I guess what I'll do is I go to run over there like help, and then realize how dangerous that is, and then I take out I I I guess I just kind of like look at my hands and remember what my character does, and I hold out my hand and you see a distortive lens of of purple just kind of distort around the two anein and hopefully try to slow the kicks in a distorted dark matter of warp which has a template range. So you see this dark

matter starts to spread out. Una, what about you and and Jack's So my plan is a lot less eloquent. My plan is to just run on the inner side, like between where Jay and the legs would be, because I assume they're so big that like we can actually fit kind of staggered like that as we're running as big as a person like each leg Okay, and literally all I assume that I'm here for help wise is the possibility of being

a human meat shield if needed. And because I don't know anything else that I can be doing to help, I have this odd chaotic mix of like trying to run through while also trying to speak really comfortingly the way I would if my dog were freaking out or something. So I'm trying to book it, but at the same time, I'm like, you're okay, you're doing fine. Please stop kicking me. No no, please don't do that. No no, no, we don't need to be doing that right now.

And I don't know if it's having an effect, but I sure would like to think it does. Okay, what about you, Jacks. I have a special ability called push. You can push a creature or object. I don't have to read it if if you guys don't want me to, but an immediate distance in any direction you wish. You must be able to see the target, which must be your size or smaller. I must not be a fixed to anything. So since it's bigger than me, is it not

gonna work? Null? Unfortunately, your special ability push will not work in this situation. I'm gonna look at the two kids. Is there one of the kids that I can push out from underneath it? Uh? I think you can push the stuff that's on top of them off. I'm gonna do that. Yes, Okay, so you have you have one edge in your intellect, so this is only gonna cost you one from your current intellect.

Okay, but yeah, you push some of the stuff off, and all all of you sort of working together, push this stuff off, get the kids out from the sort of dangerous spasmodic legs of this of these anine, it looks like the third one is still standing, but the the sort of central one and the one on the left where we actually probably she probably would have had m no, probably she was probably on the left, and then there was a central one and the one all the way on the right that

was kind of attached. It would have just been one lead. I don't think they would have divided it. And uh, yeah, the third one is still like standing. It looks like disoriented and upset. But the other two are like on the ground, like on their sides, sort of like kicking. But through your efforts, you're able to sort of help these kids out and help Coda get her get her kids out going. All right, Sam, Donny are you all right? They're good, they're good. Sem

is like noddings. He's he's like, he's you can see he's like holding Donnie's hand and she looks like she's like freaking out a little bit. And uh and Sem says, I'm okay, Donny, Donny, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay. You're not hurt. You're not hurt. It's okay. And she's she's just kind of crying and he's he's just trying to like comfort her. But what was that? What what just happened? She says, Lenn must be angry, lamp It gets angry. Sorry, I

don't know. We must have done something too upset it. So that wasn't those weren't the the iron winds? Then? No? Okay, oh, okay, say that, like the iron winds are way worse than that. Yeah, that's how I imagine them. I have seen the iron winds for a very long time, and I hope that I never see them again. Oh okay, it's like that. Okay, it's like that, all right, but that wasn't them. I'm mostly not worried that that wasn't there.

But we should get this under control. I'm gonna like say that to the group and and her maybe try and try to help pick up even some of the supplies and stack them properly. I don't know how to tame a rubber cow, but I'm gonna start gathering some of the supplies as well and trying to organize and repack things I've been since I couldn't do anything because I wasn't gonna dive under there. I'm gonna do the same. I'm gonna I've already

been gathering supplies. You guys are there gathering supplies. Well, I'm doing like the what the fuck space the whole time, like, oh my what just like eyes wide open, really tense. Is there anyway I could try to gauge what just happened to us beyond just some stalagmites or whatever jumping out of the ground at us being okay, Like I'm like, wait, I know I was facing out and I was focusing on the nan nights that were

surrounding Jay's face. But what was that? And I'm trying to understand that the whole time, I'm like picking up supplies, like why you weren't helping her? Why you didn't help it because you were like so focused on going what was that? Yeah? What was that? And why didn't I see it? Like I feel like I should have seen that. I should have seen that coming like that shift. Please make a difficulty seven intellect jacket. Okay, oh but ye seven regards to nature and I don't think I have

a nature. Let's go no ooh, please don't get a one? Okay, what I got twenty? What I got twenty and failed? Oh it'd be like that sometimes do I get like any like, well you failed, but uh, I actually don't know if it's success. It's not a six. You would have had to if you put effort into that, then yeah, you would have succeeded. There there's no auto auto succeeding roles. Yeah, auto succeeding roles like I felt that. Yeah, my magic major effect

is that I'm completely devastated. Okay, alcohol now, so uh you're you're just not sure? I think that if anything. I mean, you saw the nanites kind of moving about the world in sort of reaction to this wind that was happening. But I don't think you really understand why it happened. But can can I tell if the nanites were a part of it or like against it, kind of like moving away from it, like it was phenomenon. I don't think he can tell. Okay, you okay, talking look

a little lost. I don't want to talk about it. I just just sneaed alcohol and to pick this stuff up so we can get on our way. I don't know what's going on, this is this is crazy. I thought I could maybe tell, but I can't. I'm sorry. Oh this is cool. I didn't kick in the face. By the way, i'mlad you didn't get kicked in the face because you're already, you know, ugly enough. Okay, I'm just going to immediately jump up and start shouting Katie, Katie and I can see because we were sleeping close to each other, Like, I can see pretty quickly that she's not there, and I just want to start booking

it running. I'm a little slower. I'm just like, what the what is going on? And I like look around and I noticed that, like no one's next to me now, and I'm kind of like all alone by the head. It's like I have loric. You snapped turned around as soon as you heard the scream. When you looked at first what you saw, you just assume that you probably saw it wrong. But it looked like a shadow was moving and pulling Katie into the ground. And that's where we're going
