Episode description

In this episode I explore the idea of "intention." Intention is a mental stare or a conscious decision to act or behave in a certain way. It is an internal process we use to determine or formulate a goal or objective. But is intention enough? Not unless it is followed by commitment to act and pursue. Listen to this podcast and in less than 4 minutes -- I'll explain a bit about intention and how you can validate yours!

Hi, I'm Diane Groussel, also known as Silver Dispedience, and I am going to read an excerpt from my book The Silver Dispedience Playbook. I'm just going to tell you up front, this is take #5. I don't know what's going on with me today. The first ones I just couldn't get through the words and then the last one I realized my glasses. I must have like single handedly ripped them off so many times this way. That is, I was watching the playback.

I noticed my glasses are kind of like shaped like this on my face the whole time. So I said you know what? I'm going to give it one more try. Here goes. This is take #5 of a reading from my book on intention, and I do have the intention to get this right this time. Intention is a mental state that represents A commitment to carrying out an action or actions in the future. To act with intention requires considerable forethought along with planning.

Clarity is essential when setting our intentions as a willingness to clearly state our intention to ourselves, whatever it is that we want. Writing it down can be even better. Stating the goal, laying out the plan, and following through with action are the only ways I know that intentions can transform from thoughts into realities. When we're defining our intentions, we need to be as

clear and specific as possible. If we want a new job or career, for example, we need to spell out exactly what we want to be doing in a realistic way, and note if there are requirements whose fulfilment will require educating ourselves before we're suitable for that job. If our intention is to get into a new personal relationship, whether a friendship or a more significant other, we need to thought thoughtfully envision our desired partner or friend. What qualities are we seeking?

The more specific we can be, the more likely the relationship will materialize. Simultaneously, we need to ask ourselves what might we need to do to make the acquaintance cross our paths? Do we have to put ourselves out there, Be in different places, Get out in places where that person might be? If our intention is to become healthier, we need to set a clear path as to how we're going to eat more healthy foods and get moving to be more physical.

All that while avoiding those foods and activities that defy or are counter to our intentions. Boldly declaring our intentions. Well, that's just the first step. Next come the planning, followed by action. I'm Diane Grisel. I made it through Take #5 because I had the intention to get this done. Thanks for tuning in.
