I'm Diane bracel also known as silver to speak against and today I am dressed up like a pirate because I want to read one of my favorite, I don't know if you call it a poem or a very short story or a mini essay to you. And it's by a guy named Max Airmen who, when he was 40 years, old decided to quit his job and become a writer. And at the time, he was 49. He wrote this particular poem or essay, but how copyright laws worked at the time he lost his copyright. For years.

I as well as many other people thought this story was actually written by a monk in the 1600s because it was found in a church. But the fact is this was pirated from Max Airman and the story is called desiderata, which means things desired. And many of you may know it, but it's one of my favorite things to read. In fact believe it or not, I have a Version of this hanging up, right? Near a toilet in my bath, one of

my bathrooms. So I have to see it regularly as do other people in my family because it's a great thing to read. So, here goes desiderata. Rightfully credited to Max Airmen Go placidly amid the noise and haste remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on. Good terms with all persons. Speak Your Truth quietly and clearly listen to others, even the dull and ignorant as they too have their stories. Avoid loud and aggressive

persons. They are the vexations of the spirit If you compare yourself to others, you may become Vain and bitter. For always, there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements, as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career. However, humble it is it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business, Affairs. For the world is full of trickery. But let ethics not buying you to

the virtues. And what virtues other persons may have strive for high ideals? Because everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself, especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love. For in the face of all aridity. And disenchantment. Love is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of our years. Gracefully surrendering the things of Youth. nurture strength of the spirit to Shield you in sudden, misfortune But do not distress yourself with your imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline. Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe. No less than the trees and the Stars. You have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever, you conceive, God to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy. Confusion of life.

Keep peace with your soul. With all its sham drudgery and Broken Dreams. It is still a beautiful world. Be careful strive to be happy. That's a reading of desiderata from Max Airman written. In 1927. Thank you very much for joining me. I'm Diana, grisaia also known as silver to Speedy's.
