Episode description

We are headed back to the early 2010s to discuss the adorable and heartbreaking real-life romance between Glee’s Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. For almost two years, these two opposite personalities gave “Monchele” shippers so many cute moments until Cory’s tragic and shocking death in 2013. We revisit that devastating time and the tributes to Cory since.

Hey guys, this is Mel. If you're listening to this, you are about to hear a super special sneak peek of our latest bonus episode. But fair warning, this is just a sneak peek. Don't hurt us. It's totally optional. To subscribe, but if you're interested, you can check out our. Patreon. By searching significant lovers. Patreon Online. Hope you enjoy. You're telling us about what happened behind? The scenes. Right.

Yes. And I will say it's like, so this is the relationship between Leah and Corey. I have a family member who's a big Gleek. And she was really convinced, like she showed me a whole PowerPoint presentation one time, convinced that Corey and Leah did not really have a relationship and that Leah and

Diana Agron actually dated. And I've seen the theories, but I'm not going to go into that like you know, there's a lot it's it's like similar to Larry, like someone could bring up all the lore and like probably convince me, but. But I've also heard that Taylor Swift dated. I know. Yeah. I. Guessing would be around the same time, right? I. Think so? Yeah. This is like, back when the show was on like 2012 or so.

There's like little things. It's like Diana wore a shirt that said likes girls on stage and then I think Leah also wore it or something and I don't know it's it's it's a pretty popular belief within some fandoms online that Leah and Corey were APR relationship. But I am going to treat it like as it seems that it was a real relationship, especially since he passed away. I would just feel weird like trying to disprove that they dated. That would be kind of distasteful, like.

Being awful. Imagine like your boyfriend dies and then years later people are trying to claim that you never even dated. I don't know. I'm not. Doing my gosh. I am not going to do that so. That really FS with my head when it seems like any famous couple people can say, oh, they weren't really together. I know exactly. Sometimes I do see it, but I do think, I mean, for the record, I don't know what this says about me, but I have dated a couple

people that I've worked with. I think it happens, yeah, to everybody. I think that's the best way to bond is that you are in the trenches together. Yeah, you see them all the time. They're there every day. They're cute, a lot in common. It's kind of easy. It's like easier to fall in love at work because you need something to think about to get through the day. Yeah, I mean, it's just another situation kind of like school where you're just you're meeting.

People and. You're hanging out with a bunch of people and. Especially. It makes sense. In this line of work, their characters were romantic with each other and so like, you kind of have to build some type of romantic chemistry with each other for the sake of the show. And right? Of course, that would then translate into real life. And. They were cast in the 1st place because they had chemistry with each other. So, like, there has to be something there, yeah.

Well, this is a big couple. I feel like this is a flagship couple actually, so. It will be a sad episode, but fair warning. First of all, three words that I would use to describe this relationship would be I'm coming up with this on the fly 'cause I forgot I. Would say. Flirty. OK, I would say supportive. And then the Dark One would be tragic, I would say. But so yeah, let's, let's go back and discuss, you know, who is Lea Michele? She is she. So Michelle's her middle name.

She was born Lea Michele Safardi, SAR Fatty or Safardi. I don't know for sure how you pronounce it, but she actually decided from a very early age to drop her last name and go by her middle name because people couldn't pronounce her last name. So there you go. I can't pronounce it either. She was born August 29th, 1986 in the Bronx, and she was raised in Tenafly, NJ as an only child to parents Edith, who was a nurse, and Mark, a real estate agent. She seems like an only child.

She does. I was just thinking that I literally was. It checks out. I mean, and it makes sense because, like, she was doing Broadway from a very early age, so her parents had to take her on auditions, yeah. You know, wanting to be a star just act like a only child type of thing completely.

She really didn't want to be a star, so she made her Broadway debut at just eight years old, playing the Young cassette and Les Miserables. And she actually had gone, supposedly just to accompany a friend who was auditioning. Oh. Oh my, we have to add this to the drinking. Game I know I'm. Gonna add it right now, just just accompanying a friend. Yeah, but. She was cast instead. How did that happen? If I was a friend, I'd be pissed. Just accompanying friend.

Bitch, I should have never brought you up. Yeah, I'm just here for no reason, I. Know that definitely. It definitely happened to someone else. I forget whom. Yeah, it did. All right. I will have to. Stop the episode right there. Thank you so much for listening to the teaser. If you want to hear the full episode and many other bonus episodes, you can find them on Patreon.
