today? Today we are talking about a kind of forgotten relationship from the 1990s. It is Joaquin Phoenix and Liv Tyler dated in the 90s, and there's not a lot of information about them. You know how that is, Those couples from, I don't know, the 80s, nineties, It's hard to find information about them, but made it fun. It was like a treasure hunt through whatever websites I could find.
Or I really found a book called He's Still Here, The Biography of Joaquin Phoenix by Martin Howden, which I did not expect to exist. I didn't, Yeah. I didn't think he was famous enough. I mean, obviously he's a award Oscar award-winning actor, right? He is an Oscar. Yeah, he's. Been nominated 4 times and won once. Oh yeah, OK, he's a big star, but I still don't feel like he has the type of mystery that even really necessarily warrants a biography.
Or maybe he think he's a. Really mysterious guy. But I think usually people don't write biographies about people that are so young. And I found it on this website where you could like rent books online. And this guy also wrote a book about Robert Benson. That's so funny. Is it? Is it just like the Rob Zest book? Kind of. It's not that teen kind of angle, but I think that the guy just gathered, he does what we do, like he just gathered all the information that he could,
yeah. He didn't interview a book. Anybody. Yeah, I don't. Think he, like, interviewed? Yeah. But yeah, so this is kind of a forgotten relationship I over. I did it when I did Elvis and Marie Antoinette back-to-back and I needed something smaller but and so then I was actually reading those articles that are like couples you forgot dated in the 90s and I came across them and I just think that they are
such beautiful people. I've always been kind of interested in Joaquin Phoenix and Liv Tyler from afar, and I just thought it would be fun to learn more about them. Liv and Joaquin, OK, as I said, there isn't a ton about them because it's that weird time period where there aren't a lot of biographies written about them, but it's not like the 1940s. But also it's not the social media era. So there's like a little less. But I think that they're both interesting people.
They have very unusual, sometimes tragic childhoods, and I think they're interesting people. And she's 2 inches taller than him. We love a height difference. Yes, 3 words I would used to describe them as a couple. I was struggling to come up with this but sometimes it doesn't come that naturally. But I say I would say they as a couple are quiet, OK, young, very young. Love and romantic slash chivalrous. That's sweet.
Who are they? I think that it's kind of the most interesting part of the episode is going to be just like who they are as people. But I'll start with Liv. I just think Liv Tyler is so beautiful. Her large blue eyes, her large lips, her pale skin, her dark hair. She has the most soothing, soft voice I've ever heard. She sounds like an Angel. Seriously. I wrote this like several times when we know it's like she's just an Angel to me.
And she also seems so sweet and normal and just down to earth. And I just. I really like her. What do you expect That given who? She's an EPO baby, right? Yeah, she is. She is, but she's also an actress. She started out as a model, but she's also known for playing the Elf, Arwen and Lord of the Rings movies. But she's been in other movies like Empire Records, Jersey Girl, Armageddon, and she hasn't been doing as much acting these days, but I guess she's on the show The Leftovers.
She is a rock'n'roll child because her father is Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith. More on that in a bit. She was born July 1st, 1977. Cancer. If that means anything to anyone. Her name is Liv, Not Olivia, just Liv. Her mother named her after the Norwegian actress Liv Allman after seeing her on a TV Guide. Oh, I thought that was interesting. And Liv's mom is kind of famous, too.
Her mom is BB Buell, who is a former model rock singer and Playboy playmate, and she's been described as like a legendary groupie for many famous musicians. And she was part of the inspiration for Penny Lane and almost famous oh. That's huge. It's huge. And that's her mom. And yeah, her dad is Steven Tyler BB and Stevens. Steven, I know, I feel weird saying first name basis. Phoebe and Steven Tyler's relationship was very brief, though I think they're only together for a couple months.
And then she left Steven Tyler when she was three months pregnant and went back to her previous boyfriend, the rock star Todd Rundgren who live grew up believing was her biological father. What?
