nothing about. I Kelly covering it. So if you're new, we switch off covering each couple. And we're cousins. I feel like you should know that. Yeah. Yeah. Today we are talking about the actress Carey Mulligan and the musician Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons. Yes. You might know from Mumford and Sons. The Mumford comes from Mumford. Marcus Mumford. Yes. That's a great name. Marcus. Marcus Mumford. I know. Where is he from? England. OK Yeah.
And so is she. So this is a British episode. Oh, I love that. We're going to England today. Yeah, they have. You know what? I'm going to make just a bold claim here. I think the cutest or not, one of the cutest meat cutes of this podcast. I love that this is the main reason I wanted to do this. This is a meat cute episode. This is a meat. This is all about the meat.
I love that M EE T. Not MB AT It's all about that, but I originally thought that this episode was going to be like 15 minutes long because I thought it was only going to be about the way they met. I didn't think there was any more information about them, but I kept digging. I kept researching you guys and I have more to say. So it's not just going to be how they met, but how they met is very cute. And I'm going to say the three words to describe this couple. I would say private.
Well, those private couples keep having those. I know. I understand why they do it. But yeah, it's disappointing. Private homey. OK, so do you seem homey to me? And serendipitous? Oh, I really want to know how they met. OK, well, hang on. I'm going to get into their back story first, so. Carrie Hannah Mulligan. She was born May 28th, 1985, so today she's 38. She was born in London. She's a Gemini. It's so is Mel, so you can relate to her maybe.
Her father is of Irish descent, originally from Liverpool, and he was a hotel manager. And her mother, Nano Booth, was from Wales, a university lecturer and she also has an older brother, Owen, who today is a captain in the British Army. At age 3, her dad's hotel manager job took the family to Germany. Moved to Germany. Yep, people always move around and they moved back to the UK. When she was 8 years old.
She attended an Independent School for girls in Surrey and she got into acting as little kid, performing in plays at school, she said about her youth. I was like a drama geek. I never fell into acting. I was obsessed with acting from a young age. I wanted to be musicals. I wore a lame is T-shirt for four years, well into my teens. She also said in childhood she was very goody goody, churchgoing, hardworking,
obedient. She never did anything wrong because she was terrified of being caught, and this article said that she still never tried drugs. She said I had a terrible guilty conscious from an early age. I don't know why. Wasn't anything to do with her? Christianity, No, she says. Religion was always a positive thing for her. From the ages of 8 to 11 she went to. Convent school in England and
saying in the church choir. Throughout her childhood I had religion around me and provided a real community and that lasted into my adulthood. Part of the reason I love doing films and plays is I love having a group of people you get to know really well. You're surrounded by people all the time and I love that about going to church every week and singing in the choir. I don't know if I mean she still does or if that was about her past, but. I also have a guilty conscience, I think.
Me too to that okay. That's where we're going to stop for now. For Kerry Mulligan and Marcus Mumford. He was born January 31st, 1987. So he's two years younger than Kerry Mulligan and he is an Aquarius of that what you will, people. He was born in Yorba Linda, CA. What? Oh, I thought he was British. He is British. His English parents were living there. So he's both a UK and a U.S. citizen. Nice. Lucky he can live anywhere he
wants in those countries. His parents, John and Eleanor Mumford, were international leaders of the Vineyard churches. He is an older brother, James, So his family also moved, you know, they moved to California and then they moved back to the UK when Marcus was six months old, OK? And he, I don't know why this is public public knowledge, but he grew up on Chatsworth Ave. in Wimbledon Chase, southwest London, and I looked that up on Google Earth. That's the street.
And it's such a cute street. I wish I lived there. I would seriously love to live on that street. He was educated at King's College School, which is a school for kids. 7 to 18 in Wimbledon. And that's where he met the future band member of Marcus. I mean future band member of Mumford and Sons, Ben Lovett. All right, I will have to stop the episode right there.
