Hope you enjoy. So in 2019, that's where the story really begins, filming for the first season of High School Musical The Musical. The series begins in February, and Olivia and Joshua play exes who are cast as Gabriella and Troy in their school's production of High School Musical, and through the season they rekindle their relationship through the proximity that the musical brings them. So they play lovers on the show, essentially Olivia and Joshua.
So production began in February, like I said. And in March, Joshua posted to his Instagram, like a Instagram story, a video of him bowling. And you can hear that Olivia is the one holding the camera and she's like talking to him and laughing. And it doesn't sound or look like anyone else is there other than Joshua and Olivia. So it must have just spend the two of them bowling together. And how old are they both at this point? Yeah, so she's 16 and he's 19, OK.
I think that's a appropriate I and I'm sure there's some people who are going to be like the age different. But. I can't even imagine what I have in common with a 16 year old I. Think it's fine? Well. It kind of comes up, but I'll get into it, but. Yeah. I don't think it's too crazy. Yeah, 16. I mean, that's kind of like high school age. Different that would be like a high school freshman dating a no. I think that would be like a sophomore. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dating like a senior. Oh sorry, I thought I meant of. College. No. It would be like an Oh no. One turns most. I mean, I guess some people stay back. Some people, you know, aren't the typical age. But yeah, I guess he would be maybe like a freshman in college. Yeah, but like, what that happens. I mean, sometimes like your significant other goes to college. Yeah, and you're still in high school and. Then you're still there, but like you were in school together. I don't know.
I don't think it's that crazy. No, it's not that. Crazy and technically like they're both still teenagers and it's only like a couple. Exactly. He's still 19. It's like he's like 25 or something. Yeah, that would be crazy. I mean, Miley was, but that. Happens. Yeah, Miley was 15 dating a 20 year old. Like that's way weirder. OK, I know that's only one year difference for both ages, but that is way weirder, yeah. Well, cuz that's like a freshman in high school.
Yeah, with someone who's like a sophomore in college, that is weird. I think this was the age difference when it was Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner. Oh, oh, it might have been who? Who was who? I don't even know who. Taylor. Was older. Oh, I think it might have been like something like that, or like 20 and 17.
Yeah. Well anyway, well, filming the first season, Olivia Rodrigo wrote a song for the show called All I Want and Joshua later said that he was the second person to hear the song after Olivia wrote it, the first being her mother. And apparently Joshua said that Olivia didn't like the song and when she told him this, he said what? This is perfect, this is incredible. And then he later said about hearing the song for the first time, but it was a memory he would never forget.
And that she was quote UN quote, special. I didn't know she wrote that. And around the same time, Joshua took Olivia driving for the first time. Olivia had her permit and she said that they went around the in and out parking lot with him teaching her how to drive. OK, how do we know this? Do they talk about it in interviews or? Yeah, they talked about it like in interviews during this time were people. Like shipping them back then like you it it might be hard to
know in in retrospect. OK. No I do know this because as I was doing research I found a bunch of YouTube videos of fan videos of people shipping them or being like Olivia and Joshua are dating and I could prove it. Here are the clips of the show. So there were like Joe Livia fans that were locked in. Yeah, yeah. Well, on July 1st, Olivia posted to Instagram celebrating the fact that the filming for the first season had wrapped, and she included a picture of her with the cast.
And in this picture, she and Joshua are next to one another, and she's kind of tucked into him with an arm around his back. And that's actually picture number one that I sent to you guys so you can see. Oh. OK, yeah, it looks like they're the stars of this picture. Yeah, and it's like her arm around the other guy. It's just Joshua. I don't know. The body language. Yeah, I'm a body language experience. Yeah. I wouldn't think anything of it necessarily though.
No, it just seems it's just like a picture that she posted though, so I just thought to bring it up, Yeah. They do look close, yeah. I mean. Like she's like, turned into him, you know, like she's cheated towards him, not the camera, you know, I don't know. I definitely would have also had a crush on him at that age. Well, on August 23rd, so this is after the first season rat.
While on the carpet for the D23 Expo, Olivia and Joshua are interviewed together and after they talk about how much they have in common, the interview asked. The interviewer asked if they were dating and this is their response. I did. One of the first plays I did was Annie, and it's actually so funny. We did it through the same theater company. Oh, yeah. But we didn't know each other back then. And now we met and we're like, oh, wow. Like we had a lot in common. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Are you guys dating? No. You know, we have a, we have a lot of chemistry for everybody in the show, so it's nice we're all this. Yeah, it seems like they were both kind of awkward about it, especially Olivia, 'cause she even, like, jumbles her words. She says, you know, we have a lot of chemistry for everyone on this show. And it's like, what does that even mean? It seems like she was stuck
between two phrases. We have a lot of chemistry with everyone, or we have a lot of love for everyone. I don't know. I love how that interview was like Interesting interesting. Are you 2 dating like? And at the end, she's like just a random question. No, it was not a random question. I know she did say like we have a lot in common. Yeah. Interesting. They I just got to say they are so young. They just seem like such babies than me. Oh my God, they look like they're like 14.
I know he's older but they look so young. I know. But they're. Voices. I know, but their statement at that point in time is just their best pals. And that's pretty much it. But when the first season premieres towards the end of 2019, Olivia and Joshua are paired a lot to do press together for the show. All right, I will have to stop the episode right there.
