[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah [SPEAKER_04]: The next year, the new deals kick in NBC, and now we thought it would be NBC, ESPN during a week, Apple TV with the Friday, and now we see baseball down, going to do the Roger Gadel and split everything up, opening night is on Netflix, game two, an exclusive on peacock. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, baseball is a lot more inventory than the NFL, but the baseball fan runs a little older. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I hope it's not a disaster for the sport.
[SPEAKER_04]: What they're about to. [SPEAKER_01]: I agree 100%. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so hard to follow the games. [SPEAKER_01]: You would know better than me where the games are going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know Netflix. [SPEAKER_01]: I know that Netflix has also the home on Derby, do they not? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is going to be very, very complicated, you know, it really comes down to the idea that Rob is trying to do his best to make up from the money that he lost and sort of do that is got a split up 9,000 different ways, but it makes it very, very difficult for the average fan, as you said, older, not remote, savvy to find out where his games are. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, as it turns out, the Yankees, [SPEAKER_01]: You're on Amazon, they're on Apple TV, they're here, they're there.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just, I'm, yes, they're on, you know, the Dragon, ESPN, everything else. [SPEAKER_01]: And ESPN still has 30 games for next year anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: So they got the weekday games, but they don't have any playoff games. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to miss not having those games on playoff baseball, because that's a good week with the wild card, everything else that got good ratings, you set them to me all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to miss that, because they're not going to get the same ratings on Peacock. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to get those same ratings on Peacock. [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with that, but I do think, I do think NBC, I think NBC will do a very good job with baseball. [SPEAKER_04]: They do a very good job with the NFL on Sunday night when they get a playoff game.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think NBC, now it's an, I don't like the idea of playoff games on peacock, but I think overall they'll do a good job with coverage NBC. [SPEAKER_04]: They'll be, they're going to do Sunday night baseball, chose you there into it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it does and I generally agree with that. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who their announcers are going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what he can bring Bob Cox's back.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, you know, Bob said, I'm, you know, a little older. [SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to bring Bob back. [SPEAKER_04]: So maybe to recall take a 50th gig. [SPEAKER_01]: Mike, he's got everything else going on and maybe Mike does it, but you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: I do think I'm with you on that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think NBC will do a, we'll do a good job. [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, the bottom line is for baseballs, they're on too many different platforms, it's hard to find the games.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it is a major, I mean, opening day is on Netflix. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a huge day in the sport and I'm going to stick that Yankee giant game on Netflix. [SPEAKER_01]: Opening day is, ask Michael K for things that's fair. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, or a Dwayne carpenter in Mike Fulco. [SPEAKER_01]: that it's exclusively on Netflix. [SPEAKER_01]: I understand what Rob's trying to do. [SPEAKER_01]: He's trying to maximize every penny.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to be able to do that because it doesn't have that sensual fund like the NFL does. [SPEAKER_01]: So he has to do it that way. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got to sort of nitpick and cherry-pick here and cherry-pick there. [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think it's good for the overall viewership, Jimmy, and you know this stuff out of the me.
[SPEAKER_01]: When I talk about ratings all the time, when there are on 3,000 different places, [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of them streaming services and you can't figure out, you know, what eyeball is where as far as the ratings are concerned. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's wrong. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: And it, and it's interesting, too, because, and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way. [SPEAKER_04]: It's going to sound it.
[SPEAKER_04]: But nobody, nobody during the regular season, nobody for 162 games. [SPEAKER_04]: Everything's of TBS is being involved in the baseball business and they swoop in and then they've got the LCS, [SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, the division series and the LCS? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nobody watches TBS on the Tuesday nights. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you said right in every way, who's flipping a TBS on Tuesday night for the game with a week? [SPEAKER_04]: Now, and then not national games.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so the Yankee game in New York is on yes. [SPEAKER_04]: And not on TV. [SPEAKER_01]: So who's watching it? [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a major problem. [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I don't love the TBS way to do things. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't love the Fox way they do things. [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe NBC will do a little better.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, I don't like to play with Fox and, you know, the TBS, I don't, I don't, well, I don't play in air since I'm nice job so far, darling and frankly, it's a very good book that's a good book with, I just don't think the casual eyeball is going to TBS to find play a baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: and they probably got killed last night, well, Monday night, up against the two football games and they got a riveting night-thinning, Dodgers and Brewers, how many people saw that?
[SPEAKER_01]: Not a ton because it's not a place for the casual fan is gonna just happen to turn into, and it's a problem. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, again, baseball has always been in a situation in your best strength that you said there a little while ago. [SPEAKER_01]: They have content and they provide a lot of summertime programing. [SPEAKER_04]: and the playoff's a tremendous, and it's a daily basis, but it's a daily basis. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the only negative. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the summertime programming, they have a game on every night in a summertime. [SPEAKER_01]: So they supply content, which is very, very important. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the best television advantage that they have compared to the other sports. [SPEAKER_01]: They've been doing June and Labor Day, essentially, is the only game in town, essentially. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, listen, now that the NFL is on almost every day, basically, I don't know what baseball can do. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't get away from Saturday. [SPEAKER_04]: You want to get away from Saturday as you can. [SPEAKER_04]: You want to get away from Sunday as you can. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they put me at World Series on a starting on Friday. [SPEAKER_01]: They did a good job at that.
[SPEAKER_04]: But look at like you said last night you have a classic game and it's going to get two Monday night football games now. [SPEAKER_04]: It's football on Thursday night. [SPEAKER_04]: What the end of the MLB's they're in a tough spot. [SPEAKER_01]: Very to that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the tough spot the regime is that they celebrate their championship and the best baseball they give you is against college football in the NFL.
[SPEAKER_01]: The NBA when they celebrate late postseason in the finals is up against nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: The NHL is up against nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: The baseball is up against, you know, the sport that takes up all the action in the room, which makes it very, very difficult for 100% way. [SPEAKER_04]: Did you, I don't, you probably didn't see it yesterday because you were on the air while it was going on or maybe it happened after, but you maybe you were commuting, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: But did you see that in the middle of the Blue Jay's Mariners game, Fox spent over a minute showing Joe Davis [SPEAKER_01]: I know they've just turkey because it was Thanksgiving day. [SPEAKER_01]: What was the score in the time? [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see it. [SPEAKER_01]: What was the score but it's in the middle of the game And it was like talking to turkey with the thanks.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's including like you think in the middle of a foot now when Madden did it It was always after the game right and not made an institution of it [SPEAKER_04]: And like this, so this felt like Fox number one, we don't care about baseball, we're gonna do what we want to. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we'll try to, you know, John Madden was our guy, I don't like, you know. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to, I got the video here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to find out when it's over a minute that they're doing this. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I didn't see it. [SPEAKER_04]: And they don't even have the, they don't even have the, oh, there it is, let's see. [SPEAKER_04]: They don't even have the score in any on here. [SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I missed it. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see it late and I did miss the, you know, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and things. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm commuting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, I took, I went into the city on Monday. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did miss that. [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, let me very, very interesting to see. [SPEAKER_01]: What the ratings were in the first few days of this Toronto Seattle series when you consider that Toronto is not rated. [SPEAKER_01]: It would be interesting to see what the Milwaukee LA rating will be or when Milwaukee is a small market to smaller smart and in the sport.
[SPEAKER_01]: It would be interesting to see if they get an LA Seattle series and at the time of this airing that's what you and I think it's going to be when it's an all west coast world series and nobody on the east coast is that wrapped up in it [SPEAKER_01]: Really the only sport that can get the big number without worrying about who's in it, is football. [SPEAKER_01]: They can put Jacksonville Carolina in the Super Bowl. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to get a hundred million people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Baseball the NBA and NHL they can't do that okay seed Indiana outside a game seven horrific ratings now I like the series, but horrific ratings Edmonton Florida's second year in a row I mean it had terrible ratings last year in a cup final and baseball will be in the same boat now Let's see at all in the Dodgers.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be very interested to see Jimmy and you'll be on top of this better than me What a manner of Dodger world series rating will be on Fox [SPEAKER_01]: you would be the better one. [SPEAKER_04]: I just will help, obviously. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I've got to think about that. [SPEAKER_04]: Dodgers will help. [SPEAKER_04]: Mariners will not.
[SPEAKER_04]: But the match, I say this, if people, you know, the non-hardcore fan doesn't know it, the Mariners are a very fun team. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: And they can very fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And they can pitch. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what you've got to do against LA. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got to win Philadelphia almost pulled it off, but you've got to pitch with them. [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, the Mariners can pitch a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: So listen, bottom line is we've still got a ways to go here on these NL and ALCSs, [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of the day. [SPEAKER_04]: Two more baseball things then we'll move on. [SPEAKER_04]: U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: me, you know, we talked about NBC next year. [SPEAKER_04]: And you said, I don't know who's going to call the games. [SPEAKER_04]: We don't know yet, nobody knows.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you were in charge of NBC and you could hire any play by play guy to be their lead guy next year. [SPEAKER_04]: For the Sunday night baseball, the wild card round, not analysts, give me play by play. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't begin anybody. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Roman. [SPEAKER_04]: That's a good pick. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, you know, you can't pick Anderson because he's not going anywhere with the TBS.
[SPEAKER_04]: Bob, you know, 10 years ago he could leave TBS because they don't have the NBA anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but he's he's not gonna leave He's got the baseball anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got to he's got to find he's got all right. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, still he's baseball right So he he he wouldn't do that plus he's got the NCAA tournament and he's not gonna do that I would consider Shoman.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know if he do it because yeah, but he would be great as a league guy if he is a great announcer So I like McDonald too
[SPEAKER_01]: McDonald's is not leaving but he's not going to leave either because he's got the college for born ESPN you'll tell me a guy that is would consider it and a guy look at it from both ways there Jimmy so I would say show him and he'd be a good give you a good choice yeah that's a good one that's a good one I and when someone asked me I mentioned him as one of the guys that's a good one
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and in the last thing on the sport that is nothing to do with the TV, but where do you stand next year now? [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to get the the ABS challenge system with the balls and strikes each team with two child. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going to share with it. [SPEAKER_01]: Think about it for a second.
[SPEAKER_01]: You may have not remember the pitch and I didn't see it live in the seventh inning of game four Philly's Dodgers, one out, nobody on Sanchez leading one nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: So those they inside pitch that is strike three to Alex Cole did you see the pitch? [SPEAKER_01]: I saw it after the fact I didn't see it live either because everyone lost their mind about it. [SPEAKER_01]: That is strike three. [SPEAKER_01]: I think about it from it.
[SPEAKER_01]: If that is strike three, we probably play a game five. [SPEAKER_01]: They would be two outs, nobody on. [SPEAKER_01]: He would figure out a way to get another out in the inning. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you can pitch the ran for two winnings clear bases. [SPEAKER_01]: They probably win the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: next year he would now the player the picture in the catch of the only ones and a hitter are the only ones who can do it right it's the pitcher catcher hitter those three but you know the manager will signal to the manager was singland i i it's a good point but next year they would challenge that and that would be strike three now since i people that game that the home play on fire apologize to him for missing the pitch i don't know if that's right you didn't know the next year that would be strike three and who knows Jimmy
[SPEAKER_01]: you be honest, that was an incredible game. [SPEAKER_01]: If they get that strike out there, they're only five, seven outs away. [SPEAKER_01]: And Sanchez would get that last out somehow, some way, and then they got the rant for two winnings. [SPEAKER_01]: They may want that fourth game. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, nothing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here's what's funny about this usually you go for the old school reference and not the reference from today and when I think about the ABS system I go old school as a Yankee fan or I think about as Mark Langston I don't think about anything but that out of it strike three [SPEAKER_04]: on T now next pitch grand slam. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true base is loaded. [SPEAKER_01]: No question about it. [SPEAKER_01]: But you go see it behind on place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, there are that's the great thing about baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's really a call in a second quarter in the NBA first period in the NHL that dictates a game. [SPEAKER_01]: Baseball could have a call with a ball strike in the fifth, [SPEAKER_01]: That call, not the night the name, in a seven thing. [SPEAKER_01]: No, late, but seven thing, Jimmy, that in a lot of ways, you can make an argument that that's dictated that game.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can make that order. [SPEAKER_01]: You really can. [SPEAKER_04]: The only thing I don't love, I don't think two challenges is enough. [SPEAKER_04]: You have nine innings. [SPEAKER_04]: They miss balls and strike calls all the time. [SPEAKER_04]: And you just hit it right on the head. [SPEAKER_04]: You might have a basis loaded one-out situation in the fifth, [SPEAKER_04]: But there's a strategy there where you're going to want it if it's a close game.
[SPEAKER_04]: You want to keep your challenges for the 8th and 9th. [SPEAKER_04]: I'd like to see maybe. [SPEAKER_04]: a minimum of three challenges, but you keep your challenge though, if you get it all you're that right, right, you keep the challenge if you win it, right, correct. [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe but I agree to me not be enough, that that's a fair point.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to utilize them probably, but that was one that I was thinking about that could really be beneficial for next year. [SPEAKER_01]: So listen, basically, it's not a good postseason to wrap up the sport here. [SPEAKER_01]: You've been into it. [SPEAKER_01]: They had the Yankees Red Sox game through that a good wild card series because they had three game threes out of the four, which they've never had before.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had a dramatic, you know, a couple of divisional series went to five games. [SPEAKER_01]: They other two were four games and good series, the Blue Jays, judges on run. [SPEAKER_01]: And then of course, the Phillies and Dodgers, a lot of those great games, Ninth inning, Bunt, not Bunt.
[SPEAKER_01]: and you know they might get hurt now though that's the one thing they might get the Dodgers killing the brewers they might get a Seattle sorting good shape and then they might get L.A.
[SPEAKER_01]: steam rolling things in the world series and the discussion then is going to be this is a joke with the Dodger payroll I mean the discussion at the world series if they you know roll and don't lose any games is going to be about this is ridiculous I mean think about it the Dodgers are pitching basically four to million dollars of payroll [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Tony, glass, no, Yamamoto, and snow against relievers for the birds. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what you need to know.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you're going to hear people scream about that out of the sensors. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: The highlight of my postseason in baseball is a Yankee fan was Gita destroying cash with. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you liked that. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I bought that one. [SPEAKER_01]: Now listen, he does have a little axe to grind. [SPEAKER_01]: He does have a little one. [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, he does not like playing. [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because of the contract there a long time ago, you texted me that sent me over that. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And he got on him pretty good. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, I hear about I can kill that stuff I would hear about says, Gita is the one who's got the juice there. 100%.
[SPEAKER_04]: although jeter have it in way harder than i mean a rod hammered him way harder than jeter and i'll i will say this because i know this people out there trying to there's there's a contingency there of the people that are in brine cashman's back pocket who want to say boom makes the decisions well here's this let me just say this is you cannot have it both ways you can have it as
[SPEAKER_04]: food makes all the decisions the front office does nothing and and all that and then keep on as the manager because then he's a target i mean that's not a big decision you can't have a book that's a good point and Susan you know Susan Walman was on with sal [SPEAKER_04]: and his show on the fan, let's see, okay. [SPEAKER_04]: And she said, you know, the people who think that Kishman's calling down on the phone and the dugout during the game is ridiculous.
[SPEAKER_04]: I agree, that's not happening. [SPEAKER_04]: But she said, before the game, they lay out a plan, born with the front office. [SPEAKER_04]: That's my problem. [SPEAKER_01]: I add as a major problem. [SPEAKER_01]: That should not occur.
[SPEAKER_04]: The front office is, they didn't, the gene Michael didn't lay out a plan with Joe Torrey, [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's a, I mean, I had K on a week or so ago here and K was telling me before each game or osmosmerites at a lineup, boom, lights at a lineup in Kadsprin, rights at a lineup and they figure out what lineup to use. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's absolutely ridiculous. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I think anybody's going to do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all we've earned for quite a lot of a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: It's Mark Anderson. [SPEAKER_01]: How about that? [SPEAKER_01]: Or Casey Stangle for that matter? [SPEAKER_01]: It drives you crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we all know about how the data has, and everybody wants to use these relievers. [SPEAKER_01]: You notice that a lot of these teams that win have been using their starting pitchers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you play differently in the postseason, Jim, and then you do in the regular season. [SPEAKER_01]: You put the bat on the ball, you move runners along, you make the defense make plays. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't just try to hit home runs every single time and strike out a thousand times. [SPEAKER_01]: That didn't want to hope for the Yankees. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't help when you do that. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't help. [SPEAKER_04]: Alright, let me switch to something here.
[SPEAKER_04]: I thought of you Sunday night in text you because you know watching games, but I thought of you something that were you watching Chiefs Lions live when golf caught the touchdown pass and then make that's okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I watched I was put around my baseball that night with the tour game, but yes, I saw that play live You know, I give him a really credit because McCord.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, hold everybody what was going on before the officials through the fling and then I read the quote by Gough after the game saying I better do some research on that because he was forward that they called that in a legal shift But give McColley credit on that Jimmy he hit that right on the head right on head. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, absolutely 100% Here's why I bring it up though [SPEAKER_04]: and I'll give the listeners here a little insight.
[SPEAKER_04]: A dog and I have been texted and talking back and forth the last couple of weeks about the baseball ratings and they get killed by the NFL, they get killed by college and I always tell dog. [SPEAKER_04]: I feel like dog and almost everyone else and dogs to generate gambler, but even dog [SPEAKER_04]: underestimate the impact of the gambling and fantasy sports and the reason I bring it up is because you're not on social media and you should keep it that way.
[SPEAKER_04]: But when that touchdown on golf got cold back, you would be stunned if you saw how many people went on Twitter and said, I had Jericho first. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, right. [SPEAKER_04]: It's not see you and I are old school. [SPEAKER_04]: So we think of betting as you bet this team plus a you bet this team minus 14 and you bet over on the 46.
[SPEAKER_04]: That is not what gambling is [SPEAKER_04]: It's all about these props and parlaze and live bedding and that's where I Have to say I was naive. [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't think it would get to this point with it But if you knew how many people had Jared Goff's score because it was like plus [SPEAKER_01]: 10,000. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know that. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's that play ticked off a lot of big part of America that call. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize that. [SPEAKER_01]: I did see the play and that was a you need play and I was surprised if she just won the game. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought the lines might win that game. [SPEAKER_01]: So the chiefs got their mojo back. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did see it. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're right, the gambling is a major advantage that the NFL has and throw in the fantasy too. [SPEAKER_01]: And college, I mean, the college ratings on Saturday afternoon.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there was a week, 10 days ago, Eddie Erickson can tell you this, there was 31 million people tuned in. [SPEAKER_01]: I was the week of the Penn State UCLA Games.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Penn State UCLA, Alabama Vanderbilt, [SPEAKER_01]: whatever the game Arkansas Notre Dame Arkansas believe whatever the games were there was a total of thirty one million people who were on the network to whether it's Fox whether it's obviously the NBC's with the game whether it's CBS thirty one million people Jimmy tuned in in some capacity to college football on Saturday.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, you got to tell me [SPEAKER_04]: Simple as that no one's it no one's influencing the ratings more than fandle and draft kinks It's a very fair point. [SPEAKER_01]: I bought this sets now.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do that much college football early in the year [SPEAKER_01]: I do more, I do, I basically do more of the NFL, but you know, listen, you know, once the big, once we get to this point now in the middle of October, I get a little sense of the teams, you know, the baseball is winding down per se. [SPEAKER_01]: Only now will I get a little more involved in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the college football is hard to, you know, it's a little tricky to bet the college before, because [SPEAKER_01]: The quarterback plays a little erratic. [SPEAKER_01]: The kickers are never sharp. [SPEAKER_01]: You never get these tracks. [SPEAKER_01]: You can't count on the field, guys. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's a little different in the college football.
[SPEAKER_01]: The over-unders are harder to, because the numbers are usually higher, so it's harder to bet, but you would know better than me with the gambling for college too, and baseball doesn't have that as an advantage, because nobody really specifically, now you love to do the others at the baseball, but nobody does the gambling in the baseball, and they don't play fantasy in the postseason, that's another problem, they don't play fantasy.
[SPEAKER_04]: I had the over in the first mariner, Blue Jigame lost it and then said let's go back to the world, doubled up in game two, three, three after two innings rocking. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what was it, I'm really asking in that game. [SPEAKER_04]: The game two number was seven and a half. [SPEAKER_01]: So at three, three, you needed one, you needed two more runs to get that. [SPEAKER_01]: I got front last night, Monday night, I had the over of the bears.
[SPEAKER_01]: and I had it at 50, there's I made the play in Vegas and I had that with Carolina on Sunday against Dallas at plus 160. [SPEAKER_01]: So that was a would have been a great payoff and they didn't get the 2-point conversion. [SPEAKER_01]: If they get the 2-point conversion at 24 and 22, you're going to win your bet because it's 24 and 24, you're going to get over 50. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get that. [SPEAKER_01]: So that bothered me a little bit
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, let me, let me, let me go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you're not an internet guy, but you got to have Eddie, you got to have Eddie show you every week Scott Vampelt's bed beats segment. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I know we live your segment on it. [SPEAKER_04]: You left your ass off. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a circle the way. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god, he haven't stand for Steve. [SPEAKER_04]: They do a great job with it. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: Let me get serious here for a minute.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then I'll ask you some, I should have done this at the top of the sofa. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I give me, how shocked were you that Molly left first? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very surprised. [SPEAKER_01]: very surprised. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Steve and A call me on the night before that tell me that my was going to leave. [SPEAKER_01]: I did not speak the Marley prior. [SPEAKER_01]: I had one conversation with her since. [SPEAKER_01]: She was on there a long time.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they probably, one of the move around a little bit and try a little something different. [SPEAKER_01]: Not that the ratings are bad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just the, you know, the nature of the beast. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have forever. [SPEAKER_01]: They like to make a change. [SPEAKER_01]: They [SPEAKER_01]: making a change sake.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they wanted to keep money with the network and I don't know if money wanted to do that because I think money probably looked at it as well. [SPEAKER_01]: For my good first take, I don't want to do sports center. [SPEAKER_01]: So she probably didn't want to, you know, felt that that would be the motion I would assume.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know or I don't know when or contract was up, but I don't think that I was going to be an immediate decision about removing her, you know, by October 1st say. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think she precipitated it. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess he was in the sports business journal. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that what it was when it first leaked? [SPEAKER_04]: Is that what it got just for the business journal that she would be leaving at the end of the year.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: And then two hours later, she was gone. [SPEAKER_01]: I think probably she thought embarrassed. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't talk to her about the specifics of why she decided as soon as it was in sports business. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's what I'm thinking that she probably would have thought embarrassed if the world would have thought that, you know, she's a lame duck and she's still doing a show.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that probably had a little something to do with it. [SPEAKER_01]: Molly was great to me. [SPEAKER_01]: We had a great relationship, you know, she got a kick out of me for whatever the reason. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, she was a very important ingredient to what they were trying to do. [SPEAKER_01]: Her and Steve had a good relationship. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say big brother's sister would be the way I would pinpoint it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They knew each other well and she listened to Steve. [SPEAKER_01]: Once he gave her advice, she always listened to him. [SPEAKER_01]: She spoke to him a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was a big brother little sister deal. [SPEAKER_01]: But I was surprised. [SPEAKER_01]: I did not know that I was occurring. [SPEAKER_01]: I was shocked. [SPEAKER_01]: They took them away. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to work on Wednesday.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had it scrubbed her off for the promels and [SPEAKER_01]: They're mad about stuff when she's down here and they do that little problem. [SPEAKER_01]: She was off and tells you the the quickness of television. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're gone, they get shot in 10 minutes. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, did you, did you famously do that to Mike when he went on vacation? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a famous one. [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to rule those jingles.
[SPEAKER_01]: which is a little inaccurate, but I wanted to ruin those jingles after he came back if he was in Florida on a vacation, and this was in 1990 or 1991, and that's the result of that. [SPEAKER_01]: I never lived with that. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, sometimes just leave, leave be with what is going on, show up and do the job every day, and that's what I would have thought that Molly would have done.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot can happen between September 20th and [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of the year. [SPEAKER_01]: You know that better than anybody. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot can happen. [SPEAKER_01]: So I precipitated decision when you don't have to precipitate a decision. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I like you said once it leaked. [SPEAKER_01]: One thing I think she thought embarrassed. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's probably why she left.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, how has it been for you doing the show without her? [SPEAKER_01]: it's different. [SPEAKER_01]: It's different. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've had Peter most of the time, Peter Schreger as the host. [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he plays a little bit more of a role of host and editorializer at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's a little different. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't had Shane a past. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't had it on in the last month. [SPEAKER_01]: It's different.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, Schreger is a huge fan too. [SPEAKER_01]: Not host. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the set everybody up has to be smooth going in and out of commercial breaks and Molly did a great job with them And I think Molly and Molly was be loved. [SPEAKER_01]: Love people love Molly, so I don't know if the ratings have indicated that I don't pay attention to too much, but if you're asking me what was our shock that was shocked.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, so what I certainly was all right Let me let me get to some fun things before I let you go [SPEAKER_04]: Now you got to explain something to me and I don't give me like a little friend says a hand wave. [SPEAKER_04]: I want a full explanation on this of for months and months and months on you a wonderful series XM show that three to six months. [SPEAKER_04]: They do Friday. [SPEAKER_04]: Then I was into every day.
[SPEAKER_04]: you did nothing but talk about the Bob Dylan movie. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes. [SPEAKER_04]: Now you're a hero, your guy, your main music guy, the guy we've heard about since your F-A-N days, Bruce has a movie coming out and we don't hear a peep from you. [SPEAKER_04]: What is going on? [SPEAKER_01]: That's an excellent question. [SPEAKER_01]: I think two things with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think one, although I am all political and nine times at a [SPEAKER_01]: But I usually vote for McCain, I vote for Obama, I vote the man at the party. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Bruce on that last tour with his long, [SPEAKER_01]: describe a long monologue about what's wrong with America and he doesn't in Europe. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's set me off.
[SPEAKER_01]: I bother me Let's see boost do that in Ocala Florida You know going to Europe killing the president and I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to be killed, but I I just Let's fix that line [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's right. [SPEAKER_01]: I shouldn't say that way. [SPEAKER_01]: But going to be, I shouldn't say that word, but going and mocking the president is something that I just didn't want to hear when I go to a concert. [SPEAKER_01]: So that turned me off.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's one of it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think the other thing that that is, I am not as into the Nebraska album as everybody else is while Dylan in 6162. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot [SPEAKER_01]: the songs and be the time period. [SPEAKER_01]: I am not as I'm not in love as much with the specifics of 1982 after the river rabble with Nebraska. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I love Atlantic City, I love some of the songs, [SPEAKER_01]: But that was not with the band.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like I ran out and bought it down in Rolong's college or in Jacksonville. [SPEAKER_01]: So that album didn't have the touch with me as say times are a changing or rolling stone or brewing with them growing in the wind or [SPEAKER_01]: hard range going to fall not the same. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's got a little something to do with it too. [SPEAKER_01]: And probably the third thing I'd say is Jimmy and it's a very good question.
[SPEAKER_04]: Wait, before you give me the, wait, before you give me the third thing sit back a little because the camera you're in the, there you go. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, give me the third and the third thing I give you Jimmy is that maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the, I told you the time period.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I didn't know as much about Dylan before complete on long, you know, I've been following Springsteen since, you know, 74 75, I might be a little bit more burned out with Springsteen info while we're dealing a lot of it was fresh and it was a little more, it was newer to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that is the way I take I've been I was a little more intrigued now will I go see Bruce absolutely will Opening night opening weekend opening wise the weekend of the world series and I'll probably be in L.A. [SPEAKER_01]: So I may not go open in weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll say this if I was in New York [SPEAKER_01]: next Friday the 24th and I was on it three o'clock.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would find a theater at nine ten o'clock in the morning and my buddy Chris Christy sort and he said and he loved completely unknown and he said the movie is it's a different kind of movie but he said the movie was he loved it and he loved completely known too. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess the fourth reason is [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I didn't love, I don't love the bear. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not a huge Jeremy White fan as I was intrigued by Shalamade.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's got something to do with him. [SPEAKER_04]: Now, here's what's funny about this. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not a huge Bruce guy or a Dylan guy for that matter. [SPEAKER_04]: Had no interest in the Dylan movie, but we'll go see the Bruce movie. [SPEAKER_04]: because I am a huge Jeremy Allen White fan. [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, I'm about that. [SPEAKER_04]: And a bruise is more of my age, you know, Bruce was there in the 80s, dancing in the dark, glory days, all that stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas Dylan was a little before me, so I don't have that connection. [SPEAKER_04]: Even though I'm not a Bruce music fan, right, I feel a connection to Bruce just because in the early 80s MTV starts at him, it's Prince, it's Michael Jack, whether you like him or not, that was my childhood. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's part of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm in listen.
[SPEAKER_04]: I understand that and you know Bruce one me over Bruce one me over when he did his Curb your enthusiasm cameo last year. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's what I didn't know that. [SPEAKER_01]: I know he's been all over the place with it It was that serious. [SPEAKER_01]: He did Jimmy Kimmel this week. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so he's been all over the place And I've heard the movie it's a lot about him in his fall.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and only okay, they only cover his 18 months It doesn't cover a long period of time [SPEAKER_01]: It's only an 18-month thing, and I hear a Jeremy strong that I was in the succession. [SPEAKER_01]: Another story I can't stand. [SPEAKER_01]: But I heard he stole the movie as John Landau boosts his manager. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I heard. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not surprised by that. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a, and I love succession. [SPEAKER_04]: He's great on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't like succession. [SPEAKER_01]: I do not. [SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've heard that I've heard it. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not Sunday night to watch in football. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's hard Yeah, I know you don't watch it live. [SPEAKER_04]: You don't I like to watch things live.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean I hear those two are very good So I got to give those two, but I will see Bruce and I will see him pretty quickly I will not see him on the first night because I want to have a chance to but I will make sure I see a lot of Person I could do a whole hour with you on not liking the bare and succession, but we're gonna move on The writer cup you did you shows from there
[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of it I'm curious because I live 10 minutes from there group five minutes from there there was so much about the people there being animals now did you it you you they're doing your show but did you get a feel that the crowd there was going to be out of control when you were there doing your shows no I did not you know we all knew the fifth page would be. [SPEAKER_01]: would be a tricky cloud for the Europeans.
[SPEAKER_01]: We all knew they would be boisterous, but I didn't think they'd go over the top. [SPEAKER_01]: And when I was out there two days of that week, Tuesday and the Wednesday, and there were a lot of people there for the practice rounds, the crowd was civil. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I didn't, well, I drew it expecting the video. [SPEAKER_01]: And they were plenty full. [SPEAKER_01]: There was, you know, 30,000 people there, full days.
[SPEAKER_01]: I did not think it would get that, they would go that wild. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought the Sunday, I watched a ton of them and I thought Sunday, those two hours when the US made that run and really salvaged some pride and salvaged Keegan Bradley. [SPEAKER_01]: But when the US made that run, [SPEAKER_01]: late on the Sunday afternoon. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say, you know, I was the last day of the regular season in baseball.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's say from, you know, 315 to around 530, now I was riveting TV. [SPEAKER_01]: It really was. [SPEAKER_01]: Because if Shane Larry doesn't make that put on 18, who knows? [SPEAKER_01]: They may have completely blown it, but that was a dramatic event. [SPEAKER_01]: It's something different in golf. [SPEAKER_01]: The Scotty Sheffler, father in a view that we did. [SPEAKER_04]: I loved that's why I was going to go. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I came out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_01]: That came out of nowhere. [SPEAKER_04]: You discovered at the writer cup that Scotty Sheffler's dad was a huge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Chris made dog herself not just that he was a big serious sex and fan because he listened a lot to PGA radio his name was also Stud and he was a he's a big serious sex and fan because he's a big PGA radio fan and he's a big back in a metal fan You know his day was when he was in Jersey and his kids were growing up and he listened to Mike and me all the time so he was wrapped up on my father Tony's take [SPEAKER_01]: last home core into Mike.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he was wrapped up in off the air. [SPEAKER_01]: No, he knew me from serious don't get me wrong, but he was really one of the P.J. [SPEAKER_01]: radio then he wasn't to me from a serious perspective. [SPEAKER_01]: But he knew all about you. [SPEAKER_01]: from Jersey here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he did. [SPEAKER_01]: I spoke from the meadow, Mike in the meadow of this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was an excellent. [SPEAKER_01]: He knew I had four kids and you went play tennis.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was an excellent excellent spot. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the, that's one of the regions, Jimmy, why it has started to go out to the world series for a couple days. [SPEAKER_01]: No matter what my big, because I haven't done that, I used to do it year. [SPEAKER_01]: I did it 15, 18 years in a row, baseball network and of course the, [SPEAKER_01]: first when I got the serious. [SPEAKER_01]: I always used to go to the first two games.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I was, we did such a decent, we did such a serious, such a good job on those two days with the Ryder Cup. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, we had good setting, we had a good location, good guests, you know, the Hickses and the Rich Loaners and Colt-Nosts and Chefler and you know, we can't as they're all and Gary Williams, we had a lot of good guests, we had two good shows.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, you know what, I should get out for a couple of days once in a while and get to an event not that you're going to get Dave Robertson or you're going to get, you know, that a mirror Guerrero on [SPEAKER_01]: but being at an event like that adds to the element. [SPEAKER_01]: It gets me out of the studio a little bit, a little different environment.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the reason why we eddy and I and Steve Tory thought, you know what, what the hell, that's going to the world series. [SPEAKER_01]: And I made a late decision on it, which drives series XM crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: But M.O.B. [SPEAKER_01]: loves it. [SPEAKER_01]: They spoil, I called them. [SPEAKER_01]: Can you get me a book? [SPEAKER_01]: You got a Chris, you come, we get your book.
[SPEAKER_01]: can you get me manford would do the best we can what they see you're going to be there blah blah blah so those kinds of things so because of this wider cup and I thought it was such a good view of their Jimmy would decide to go to the world series what I loved about it as someone that doesn't follow golf or care about golf in any way shape or form was I tried to listen to as much as they could
[SPEAKER_04]: wasn't there for every minute of it, but every time you had a guest on, all they talked about was how the U.S. [SPEAKER_04]: was going to win the first day, I don't know, but what I loved about the Schuffler, the interview you did with Scotty Schuffler's dad, was he was an old school Michael Mandox fan and all that was great. [SPEAKER_04]: But it was like, I like the father to father as an absolute app.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he was fascinating with how he doesn't ever talk to Scotty Schuffler about golf, which I found fascinating. [SPEAKER_04]: And I liked when you said to him, you try to you call Colin, you're some Colin who's in Florida doing the radio. [SPEAKER_04]: Sure, you call him every day. [SPEAKER_04]: You were blown away. [SPEAKER_04]: Not Scotty Schuffler's dad never talked about. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I talked to my other one who's coaching here in Northern Arizona.
[SPEAKER_01]: I talked to him, you know, basically after every practice. [SPEAKER_01]: I was shocked. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Scotty Sheffler doesn't talk to his kid on Sunday after a tournament. [SPEAKER_01]: He does. [SPEAKER_01]: Scotty Sheffler senior doesn't talk to, you know, on Thursdays before it goes. [SPEAKER_01]: No, he does not. [SPEAKER_01]: I was floored by that. [SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that he was a stay home dad 30 years ago, and it wasn't the thing to be a stay home dad.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he took his kid to the palasades driving range and his in Scotty made his father shovel the snow on a mat so he can hit golf balls and he didn't realize how good Scotty Junior was going to be until he got out of college and he was worried won't worry about him on a [SPEAKER_01]: And it was a great day too.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the only reason why we got him is because the guy who drove us around in the golf cart those two days that we were out there, Jimmy, he was a military guy from South Carolina on a volunteer. [SPEAKER_01]: He told us the 94, or by the way, I drove the shepherds. [SPEAKER_01]: I picked them up on 18th pole, took them to their car and they told me, oh, did you drive serious sex? [SPEAKER_01]: Sims guys around.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they told me, we love to meet the guys on serious sex in.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why he came on the next day because the guy who was the driver when the golf court was on top of the guy Do we had to get shuffler senior to the serious sex and Tower so that whole thing worked out great and here's what I would say you're not getting that spun on unless you're at the event Right of course, so you gotta go in so occasionally you gotta get out of the studio and go to the events and you'll be surprised I'll give you one that I did that you would not remember that you'll find fascinating
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and then we're, you know, you will move on from this topic. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what year was it? [SPEAKER_01]: I would say it was before baseball somewhere around 2010, 2011. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, one day, I showed up in Glendale, Arizona. [SPEAKER_01]: Spin training, Syria sex M for the Dodgers. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, who's there that day? [SPEAKER_01]: And I got him for 25 minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: Ron Howard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ron, I was, I see forward, the movie Rush came out. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the movie about the Nicky, no wait, where did you get, where was he? [SPEAKER_01]: Where was he, he's a huge Dodger fan. [SPEAKER_01]: I was, so he's in the building. [SPEAKER_01]: Frank training facility. [SPEAKER_01]: Dodger said Ron Howard is here. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, you got to get him for me. [SPEAKER_01]: They got him, and we taped 20 minutes with him, 25 minutes with him before the show.
[SPEAKER_01]: And played it. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I can see him being a great interview too. [SPEAKER_01]: And he was great. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot about the movie that he had just put together, because he was just about ready to be out. [SPEAKER_01]: So whenever that movie came out, right around then. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was a huge Dodger fan grown up as a kid, because he grew up in California, grew up in Burbank. [SPEAKER_01]: He did the Andy Griffith show and everything else.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that was, and if you were not at the site, you're not getting lucky like that. [SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes you've got to put yourself in a situation where you might get a guest or two. [SPEAKER_01]: I learn that lesson a lot in radio. [SPEAKER_01]: I learned it with Chefler at the Ryder Cup. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll pick up something at the World Series for a couple of days that will surprise me and be a little something different.
[SPEAKER_01]: At my age, Jimmy, after 40 something years, you've got to find things that motivate you on a day and day out faces. [SPEAKER_01]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_04]: So let me ask you this. [SPEAKER_04]: If you're a producer Eddie Erickson right now with two o'clock Eastern can book any guess for your show that starts at three o'clock Eastern today. [SPEAKER_04]: Who would you want to talk to today?
[SPEAKER_04]: Doesn't have to if it could be about something that's going on today sports non sports, but if you could book one person for today, who would it be? [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, that's a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, one person for today. [SPEAKER_01]: James Franklin. [SPEAKER_04]: that's a good answer. [SPEAKER_04]: That is a good answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Wait, what are you going to do with your 49 million? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that would be that would be a great answer.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's a good interviewer. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got a good voice. [SPEAKER_01]: He comes across 49 million. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you see the end coming? [SPEAKER_01]: What happened? [SPEAKER_01]: How come you couldn't be the big game? [SPEAKER_01]: How come you were chewing whatever your record isn't big games? [SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't been talked to yet. [SPEAKER_01]: They haven't heard from them. [SPEAKER_01]: That would be a spot that, you know, it's [SPEAKER_04]: Great answer.
[SPEAKER_04]: Eddie can't get them. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Eddie can. [SPEAKER_01]: I tell you right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, anybody you can get spots. [SPEAKER_01]: It is you. [SPEAKER_01]: I am telling you on this show that you do this podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: Now you got stuck this week. [SPEAKER_01]: So his Christian. [SPEAKER_01]: So I get it. [SPEAKER_01]: But overall your ability to get these guys on, whether it's Eggman, Buck, Barclay, Hurge, you just hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: You get those guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Not like you do. [SPEAKER_01]: You just had your butt. [SPEAKER_01]: You just had your butt. [SPEAKER_01]: You just had your butt. [SPEAKER_04]: You just had your butt. [SPEAKER_04]: I and and this but it's a different thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Like what you did with Scotty Shefflers that I couldn't do that. [SPEAKER_04]: Like that was I love that. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's what I love.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love that Scotty Shefflers dad tells you he never talks to Scotty Sheffler about golf and you're on the radio every day killing your poor son Colin for doing a triathlon. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I learned more about Scotty Shepherd Jr. [SPEAKER_01]: From his father than I have a word learned if I had Scotty Shepherd, Scotty Shepherd, Jr. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the way out is Colin recovered from his trial. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I took him a couple of weeks.
[SPEAKER_01]: He did it in 14 hours. [SPEAKER_01]: I give him a lot of credit for doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a little bored at times in a social life in West Palm Beach. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he needs a mission. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a good reason why he did it. [SPEAKER_04]: And you're on the radio saying don't be marathon. [SPEAKER_04]: He needs a hobby. [SPEAKER_04]: What is he doing this? [SPEAKER_04]: I don't go play golf. [SPEAKER_04]: The supportive father.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, did and a lot of people got on me for not going out there my wife ran Kenny went so and you know my family very well Jimmy knows him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, knows that he knows. [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't know 10, but he knows my wife You know, it's the two kids. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't tell me Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy.
[SPEAKER_01]: No My wife went out there did a great job with it and I told Colin the you know a couple weeks prior to come this it's week one of the NFL [SPEAKER_01]: I can't come to this because it's also the U.S. [SPEAKER_01]: open finals that day. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot going on in sports. [SPEAKER_01]: That was a huge sports weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: And I said, you got to give me a pass and he understood it. [SPEAKER_01]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_01]: And my wife.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_04]: And you told him don't do the triathlon take up golf.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not that I told him I like to see him play some golf because you can get into this brother But anybody who can swim and I tell you what he used to do You know that he used to get up for five o'clock in the morning and go in the inner Coastal and Swim with a bunch of 60-year-olds know the 60-year-olds who have those swimming deals in the middle of the show that get up at five o'clock in the morning
[SPEAKER_01]: but fifty fifty five-year-olds and swim and he had a group that he did that with to get ready for the triathlon. [SPEAKER_01]: Now how many twenty-three-year-olds would get up at five o'clock in the morning and go swim with his grandparents when he get right down. [SPEAKER_01]: I give credit. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: I give credit.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, go do you if I don't agree to All right, let me tell serious XM Monday through Friday three to seven first take on Wednesday What are you still doing the vice stuff is that all you got by one more vice plug it plug it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one more to do. [SPEAKER_01]: I will plug it That show will begin. [SPEAKER_01]: I believe in November We've done four others the second season of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks to Gary Myers.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got me involved [SPEAKER_01]: this is the second season of it. [SPEAKER_01]: I have one more show to tape and I'm going to tape it on Monday in a bar in New York. [SPEAKER_01]: It will take me about four hours to do it. [SPEAKER_01]: They put together the scripts and the interviews and I sort of play executive producer. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm good at that and they do a great job vice. [SPEAKER_01]: They do a great job. [SPEAKER_01]: So I will do that on Monday.
[SPEAKER_01]: That will be the episode five of a show that will begin I think it's the fifth in November and it runs throughout the rest of your five consecutive Tuesdays. [SPEAKER_01]: So there you go. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: We will check it out. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't you have the best time taking care of yourself. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, bye bye [SPEAKER_04]: All right, Jamie now, as he does every week for our train of thoughts segment from WFAN.
[SPEAKER_04]: Radio in New York, SNY, TV in New York, a man who hates laptops, Salakata, Salawari. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm right. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the laptop is what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm thinking too as we're just recording this from real time. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably supposed to focus on the camera, so it looks like I'm looking at the viewer, but I want to look at you or me. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't matter.
[SPEAKER_04]: You could look at me. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm guessing that. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do something a little weird to start off because usually we get right into some topics, but I just finished interviewing [SPEAKER_03]: Chris made Doug Russo for the podcast. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, first time he's been on it in like a year. [SPEAKER_04]: So I asked him toward the end of the interview.
[SPEAKER_04]: If he could have his producer, Eddie Erickson, who he both known love, book any single guest for his show today. [SPEAKER_04]: Just for today, book any guest sports, [SPEAKER_04]: you have a radio show in New York. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna ask you the same question. [SPEAKER_04]: If you can get anyone booked for your WFA and radio show on Wednesday morning, because we're taping out Tuesday, who would you want your producer to book?
[SPEAKER_00]: But okay, but is this like a question that would mean, like my personal choice who I want to interview that I've never had before, or is it relevant? [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if you, well, give me both. [SPEAKER_04]: Give me one of each. [SPEAKER_00]: I want David Letterman. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, great answer. [SPEAKER_00]: Who I know Eddie Erickson has gotten before four dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: So, right, that was realistic. [SPEAKER_00]: He'd be my dream interview.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great answer. [SPEAKER_00]: If I could give you a realistic sports one right now, I mean, honestly, the first one that came to mind although we probably be a boring interview, I wouldn't mind talking to Derek Jeter. [SPEAKER_04]: You can get there with cheater baseball play. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yes, you can Fox. [SPEAKER_04]: Now's the time you can get them. [SPEAKER_04]: They have the world series. [SPEAKER_04]: If you want them, this is the time.
[SPEAKER_04]: I could give you the Fox. [SPEAKER_00]: But you're a person. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: This is the time. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: You could be, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's just. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: You're a rash to see. [SPEAKER_00]: But Jordan, Tiger Woods at the old time. [SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, see, I would think you would say Brian Cashman. [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've had him plenty of times before.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, not bad. [SPEAKER_04]: He said Brian. [SPEAKER_04]: Why do you still have a job? [SPEAKER_00]: That's, well, it sounds like you won't Brian Cashman. [SPEAKER_04]: You should go. [SPEAKER_04]: Brian, yet again, your team lost in the playoffs. [SPEAKER_04]: Is there any reason why? [SPEAKER_00]: I do think the Mariners pounding the Blue Jays makes the Yankees look even worse. [SPEAKER_04]: The Yankees look worse because it's the same thing every year.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's why the Yankees look worse. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't give a great answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Now you have to keep the mind. [SPEAKER_04]: Don't do an a national show you're doing a New Yorker. [SPEAKER_04]: He said James Franklin, which I thought was a really good answer. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I guess for an off for a national audience, that's a good answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Letterman's a great answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Geter, you can get. [SPEAKER_04]: All right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Who would you have? [SPEAKER_04]: Well, obviously Larry David is the answer. [SPEAKER_04]: But in terms of, it's a sports media conversation. [SPEAKER_04]: as in terms of a sports media comment like who would be the sports media person. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a good question. [SPEAKER_04]: I have to think.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I would always say like Bill Simmons or McAfee, but they've been on trying to think of someone who's never been on who I would want to, you know, they just had like, I don't know the full detail. [SPEAKER_04]: So I probably shouldn't bring this up. [SPEAKER_04]: But like, [SPEAKER_04]: I think they're going to have at the Golden Globes of all places. [SPEAKER_04]: They're doing like a best podcast category.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hmm, which I don't want to say, let me, let me, I'm going to do just a quick Google here of do Golden Globes. [SPEAKER_04]: podcasts because I saw that when I said Bill Simmons's name, that's it. [SPEAKER_04]: The Golden Globes podcasts are those eligible for the first of every Golden Globable word for best podcast, 25 podcasts announced, 25 podcasts announced as eligible for Golden Glob. [SPEAKER_04]: Sadly, Sal and I are not nominated in the list.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a weird, like the best supporting actor category. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: So two sports podcasts made it. [SPEAKER_04]: Bill Simmons, you know, the Bill Simmons report and part of my take. [SPEAKER_04]: I've never had the part of my take guys on. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't see why they would ever come on because they have the biggest podcast. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, they come in here, but I would be interested in like them as podcasts.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that would be a fascinating interview. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the guy I think we both should have answered though. [SPEAKER_04]: Mark Sanchez. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's probably the correct answer. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the correct answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for your time. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the correct answer. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Mark, Mark, what exactly happened?
[SPEAKER_04]: And how do you end up going to jail when you get stabbed back after this? [SPEAKER_04]: That's story. [SPEAKER_04]: I still need details on that story. [SPEAKER_00]: My favorite part to that were the jokes that said he's going to be sentenced to more time with the jets. [SPEAKER_04]: Why so I saw something on Sunday that said if it so on Sunday someone posted the video of him walking out of the [SPEAKER_04]: Was it the jail or the hospital?
[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was the hospital. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Andy's wall, you could just tell he's a fucking mess. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no. [SPEAKER_04]: And someone's like, even this condition. [SPEAKER_04]: Ha ha ha, I've been in the justice fields. [SPEAKER_00]: That's mess. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: It's just a few, it's the worst quarterback ever. [SPEAKER_04]: Um, all right. [SPEAKER_04]: Any good betting stories from the weekend, so?
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, no. [SPEAKER_04]: Actually, I've been laying low a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: The last bet that I made was I bet the Yankees to score over four and a half runs in the game that they got eliminated in the freaking bullpen game So overalls, we head into now week seven. [SPEAKER_00]: I am down 500 for the year. [SPEAKER_00]: So and remember I started out being down 400 after two weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: So [SPEAKER_04]: All right, we've stabilized.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, I put some time behind me, where week seven right now. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing pretty well with all my pick record. [SPEAKER_00]: I just haven't. [SPEAKER_04]: So you did not bet football on Sunday. [SPEAKER_04]: I did not. [SPEAKER_04]: Did you blow off football because the jets played in the morning? [SPEAKER_04]: And you figured I'm not going to watch football to correct. [SPEAKER_00]: I gave my wife the day. [SPEAKER_00]: I watched the jets Sunday morning.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then we did watch the whole game. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I watched the whole game and then we binged, you know, there's a show with Jessica Beal on prime video, the better sister or something we binged at show. [SPEAKER_03]: Never heard of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, you know, I'm not, I'm out of the loop. [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not, I'm out of the loop. [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not, I'm not, I'm out of the loop.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, [SPEAKER_00]: Right, Freddy, I remember the beach, the pool scene. [SPEAKER_00]: How could you forget that's an, you know, actually in your mind forever.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that's the floor, but it was a good show. [SPEAKER_04]: Got it. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, so you didn't bet Sunday. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have any good bet. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, I don't have any good bet. [SPEAKER_04]: Nothing. [SPEAKER_04]: I enjoyed, I'll tell you what I bet almost, well, not every week.
[SPEAKER_04]: I, what I bet is, [SPEAKER_04]: any time the lions play a prime time stand alone game you know four twenty five Monday night I always bet over so they have they have you can bet on rushing out you know they've the rushing card props and every week jargon golf rushing yards is a half a yard every week it's a half a yard so every time he plays in a prime time game I always bet over
[SPEAKER_04]: And I texted you that's why I said I bet over half a yard for Jared Gough he got us he had a seven yard run In the second quarter, so then the whole game becomes way to the last drive to see if he's going to take knees Luckily the chiefs won there were no knees and I won my bet so it was that the only one he had it and pay attention to it. [SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes It was one carry for seven yards So yeah, so that's really my only good or you had a weird you could knock out pool or no [SPEAKER_04]: No, you didn't get in the one that I sent you? [SPEAKER_04]: No. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. [SPEAKER_04]: One carries seven yards. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the thing with me. [SPEAKER_04]: Those like two or three days before the season starts, I'm like, I need to get an AK Apple.
[SPEAKER_04]: And then once it passes, I'm fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I like that action, though. [SPEAKER_00]: This is for me easy cheap action. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever. [SPEAKER_04]: Are you still alive? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm in two of them, actually. [SPEAKER_00]: So who do you, okay, so are you alive and you're alive in both the one I went I'm alive in both because I've been picking the same team in both.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're two different pools. [SPEAKER_00]: I went raiders. [SPEAKER_04]: You're alive in both. [SPEAKER_04]: Who did you have last week? [SPEAKER_00]: Raiders over the Titans. [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and now let's go to this week's games. [SPEAKER_04]: Let me see if I can figure out All right, so this week we've got I haven't even looked stillers bangles. [SPEAKER_00]: Who actually I think I know where I'm going this week?
[SPEAKER_04]: Ram's, let me guess, Ram's Jaguars, Patriots Titan, so I'm going to write down New England as an opportunity, possibility. [SPEAKER_04]: Saints, bears, all right down Chicago, we don't think that's any kind of lock. [SPEAKER_04]: Dolphins, Browns, Panthers, Jets, Eagle's Vikings, Raiders, Chiefs, Giants, Bronco, I've put Denver down in the mix for sure. [SPEAKER_04]: In the Anapolis LA, Washington, Dallas, Green Bay, Arizona, a put Green Bay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Atlanta, San Frant, have a very tight Houston Seattle. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean I would put so New England Chicago Denver Green Bay Seattle would be the options I think you're going to say New England okay so just I have a format that I usually try to stick to first of all home team second of all no division games now obviously you can't stick to that every week and it's also not foolproof but if I use that as a base home team non-division [SPEAKER_04]: Home too.
[SPEAKER_04]: I would go with Denver. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was that's what I'm thinking now in real time. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't give this any thought. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Denver's going to spank the giants this weekend. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they have the best defense in football. [SPEAKER_00]: They played a crap game. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to be like, Oh, look what the jet's did and the giant just smashed the eagle.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a tough spot for a rookie quarterback. [SPEAKER_00]: But I'd be lying to you if I said Jackson's art doesn't scare me a little bit in that particular match. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, they lost to the Saints two weeks ago. [SPEAKER_00]: I know what, I mean, it's like what I do. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's, am I getting to cute one of the chiefs at home? [SPEAKER_00]: We'll probably get to beat the Raiders, you know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't used the chiefs yet. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe so. [SPEAKER_00]: I also don't go chalk. [SPEAKER_00]: Most most of the time because that's how people lose these things like Oh, how will the chiefs ever gonna lose and then the Raiders whether or not whatever team it may be so I try not to go chalk So the Broncos I'll tell you the jets would be a ballsy pick at home over the Panthers, but that can be flat out stupid those would be you mean Who would you take?
[SPEAKER_00]: Meaning what oh [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a pinch. [SPEAKER_00]: I would take the jet, so I'm gonna have to fair quite a bit. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it's a real? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know even if you're being serious about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I would take the jets at home to beat the Panthers, yes. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's taking a major risk, I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, I can't. [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, do you think Panthers are like 50?
[SPEAKER_04]: The Panthers are 50,000 times better than the jets. [SPEAKER_00]: I probably stay away from it. [SPEAKER_00]: I get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right. [SPEAKER_04]: Can I tell you what my favorite story was though from the weekend? [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_04]: And it's a little, like, I don't know if it's going to translate well. [SPEAKER_04]: I think you have to see the clip. [SPEAKER_04]: But I love this story just because of the innocence of the guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: So the buck's beat the Niners, Baker may feel a plays a great game. [SPEAKER_04]: He's probably the leading candidate right now for MVP, now that Josh Allen is faltered a little bit. [SPEAKER_04]: And in that game, Baker may feel it feels like a 45 year touchdown pass to wide receiver Test Johnson. [SPEAKER_04]: And when he does that, the crowd in Tampa starts chanting MVP MVP.
[SPEAKER_04]: So Test Johnson goes up to teammate, Sterling Shepherd, and says, I haven't done anything [SPEAKER_04]: It's like you took the Channing for Baker and the reason the story became known is that Test Johnson told the story in his post game interview and I highly recommend that everyone go find it because it was so innocent which is what made it so great like this guy had six catches for the entire season and he thinks the Channing and beat him and he's all confused.
[SPEAKER_04]: I loved it. [SPEAKER_04]: It was like the complete opposite of like you're like stuck up athlete story like he was just like [SPEAKER_04]: Why would they be I mean like you could make the argument like why you know Well kind of ego makes them think that you know, but they weren't but he said he's like I did nothing all year Why would they chance it was they got to watch the videos and me while was a terrific catch Will they great celebration as well? [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: The bucks are The bucks are interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Are you the Niners that was the one game I got wrong this week and I picked the Niners to cover that spread [SPEAKER_04]: What do you mean by it was the only game you got wrong I do want to show I picked three games Oh, okay, okay, I would pick every game and I was the only one you got I was like okay, no, no, no Gotcha, um
[SPEAKER_04]: Are you with the Yankees out or you into the baseball you probably bet you haven't watched one pitch I've watched more than one pitch But I'm nowhere near as into it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see a little bit what you savage would look like against a different lineup and clearly He was hitable and the Yankees couldn't sniff them and yet the Mariners tune them up for five runs and four innings whatever Maybe I saw Cal Rally at the home running game one and then I sold the ninth inning last night of the brewers and Dodgers [SPEAKER_00]: which I can't believe it, but it's just ass and I take Blake's now out of that key. [SPEAKER_00]: Did you see it or no?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, that's, that's what we got to do. [SPEAKER_03]: We got to go with the bullpen. [SPEAKER_00]: I was rooting for the bro's detiated, so Dave Roberts would have gotten his, dude, he blinks that was moan them down. [SPEAKER_00]: He's at 102 pitches, just let him finish. [SPEAKER_00]: Then your bullpen is sucked all your long. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the NLCS, like what do we do? [SPEAKER_00]: Not allowed. [SPEAKER_04]: Data, 100 pitches.
[SPEAKER_04]: So you're on falls off at 100 pitches. [SPEAKER_04]: Got to take him out. [SPEAKER_04]: Got to take him out. [SPEAKER_04]: So you're not into the base, do you care who I guess our team you'd want to see when the world series? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, probably the Mariners, Mariners have never done it before.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to see, I'd be okay with any combination outside of the Dodgers, but I would like to see the Brewers in there who haven't been in and God knows how long, Mariners who've never been in there. [SPEAKER_00]: So any of those two teams, yeah, you know, and even if you throw in the J's, I just don't want the Dodgers to win again. [SPEAKER_03]: The Mariners are fun teams to watch.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like watching the Mariners so um yeah, I'm with you on that You would never think to bet the MLB players right not not now. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean come on dude. [SPEAKER_00]: I used to bet that Like a madman Matter of fact, they're probably lost the most money in my life on betting baseball postseason same well that postseason just baseball in general Yeah, the postseason needs to be an animal man and it was bad.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was bad I would love to know more about this [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, I can't remember the exact series, but, you know, picking the tigers to BTAs, whatever the mess I was doing, but I just used to be held bent on, no way this team's losing the series and the prices were never good and I'd get beat every, which way possible. [SPEAKER_00]: Chasing, I'd get beat before the series I'd get beat, just nightmare. [SPEAKER_00]: I had I actually had to stop it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Baseball plus. [SPEAKER_00]: It was fun, but it was, ugh. [SPEAKER_04]: I understand, I understand, but in baseball, you know, to 162 games, the NFL, you can really only get killed once a week. [SPEAKER_04]: It's a big difference. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, I will say, I, you know, we've had this conversation, like I always love the Monday night double header, but I don't need it when there's an ALCS game going on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, look, baseball, a little bit of a kid. [SPEAKER_00]: Can I ask you why, why is this a thing that I thought, you know, the first weekend of the year was always, it's because it was the first weekend and two month and I games, they had it this, you know, today. [SPEAKER_00]: They've had it before. [SPEAKER_00]: They're having it again next week. [SPEAKER_04]: What's going on next week and next week is a straight double.
[SPEAKER_03]: Which I like better that to me is better, but why what's the reason it's the last year they're gonna have it It's the last year the contract where they're gonna have it with the with the double headers. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying I don't like it I'm just curious why and then the thing that really bothered me this week because he has penned's paying for a certain amount of games so that you know [SPEAKER_00]: So okay, so they have to have it on double Monday.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, my issue is that it's not even the double Monday night Which is fine? [SPEAKER_00]: It's that at one o'clock you had like seven games and at four o'clock You had three why can't there be a better balance? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand it just give me a four minimum in a four o'clock window [SPEAKER_04]: See, I know everyone gets all hot and bothered about that. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't mind it.
[SPEAKER_04]: I actually prefer the three games of it because I am so exhausted at four o'clock from the one o'clock marathon, that in the 930 and the college for both of you before. [SPEAKER_04]: When this three games at four o'clock, I don't have to fool around with the TVs. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have to switch anything. [SPEAKER_04]: I got the three screens and I can relax. [SPEAKER_04]: So I like the three at games. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what?
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't you think having one extra game [SPEAKER_00]: box, the one TV if you have the, um, Sunday ticket. [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll also eliminate some of the chaos at one o'clock, which is one less game you got to, what? [SPEAKER_04]: I like the chaos at one o'clock. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the one o'clock. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't get people complain this shit games, this shit teams, this shit quarterback. [SPEAKER_04]: I love the chaos of one o'clock.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and in terms of I couldn't get four games on the TV anyway because I don't have you to TV So the local game is always going to be not available to me. [SPEAKER_04]: I got to put it on the TV. [SPEAKER_04]: So [SPEAKER_04]: With 3 tv's boom 3 games and I'm sorry back on that topic. [SPEAKER_00]: Can I just tell you know I have YouTube TV Yeah, it is such a game change. [SPEAKER_00]: I know that many people now have the multiple screens.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you just remind me I got it. [SPEAKER_04]: You just remind me something. [SPEAKER_04]: I must say. [SPEAKER_04]: God. [SPEAKER_00]: But YouTube TV is a Godson. [SPEAKER_00]: What these games now on? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, like whatever the Sunday night football game boom split screen. [SPEAKER_00]: You got the baseball game on. [SPEAKER_00]: You got the Sunday night football [SPEAKER_00]: Monthly football, same thing, split screen, it's all there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So these national baseball playoff games, I can easily split the screen and watch the football as well. [SPEAKER_00]: It is, I wish that this was invented sooner, but it is such an easy way to watch TV. [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_04]: I have to say, because I've said it here a couple of times about, so ESPN has that new app. [SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad you brought this up. [SPEAKER_04]: I'd write this down for some reasons at topic.
[SPEAKER_04]: ESPN has the new app and I've sit on here that I've tried to do the multi-cast where you get the four games at once and I was like over three every Saturday that I tried it. [SPEAKER_04]: I finally, not this past Saturday but the Saturday before, so let's see, it was like the [SPEAKER_04]: I finally got it to work. [SPEAKER_04]: What happened was I went, I don't know what, I don't ask me what made me think of this because I didn't Google anything.
[SPEAKER_04]: It just something came in my head randomly. [SPEAKER_04]: You know, when that happens to you, weirdly. [SPEAKER_04]: I went, fired up the Apple TV device and I did a system update or software update, one of the other, whatever it's called. [SPEAKER_04]: Once I did that, I get the four games now. [SPEAKER_04]: Ever since that day, working beautifully.
[SPEAKER_04]: let me use this time now to say props to ESPN and the new app for having the multi-cast, the last two Saturdays, four games at once on their perfect. [SPEAKER_04]: No, it was my fault because I hate needed to, so if someone out there struggling with that update your Apple TV box, and what do I need to do this just the ESPN app?
[SPEAKER_00]: I have to pay for that or no. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you might be screwed [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure if they, well, I don't want to say because I might not, I know like with file, like the way it's supposed to work is is if you have a cable subscription, which I have to files, then you get everything that's on the new app. [SPEAKER_04]: But there are certain cable outlets and streaming services that ESPN does not have deals with yet.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if they have, okay, so here, YouTube TV does not have a deal with ESPN for its new ESPN unlimited streaming service yet, though both companies can confirm their discussions. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'll pay separately for the app and then get access to that. [SPEAKER_04]: but you wouldn't have to do it anyway because you can do a quadbox to YouTube TV with ESPN channels. [SPEAKER_04]: Right. [SPEAKER_04]: What you can't do, here's what you can't do.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you want to watch one of these WWE pay-per-views that are on ESPN unlimited, you can't watch them on YouTube TV. [SPEAKER_04]: So it's not, and it's not all you need. [SPEAKER_04]: See, here's the thing. [SPEAKER_04]: I can go to the ESPN app, let's say on my iPad. [SPEAKER_04]: and watch a WWE paperview because I have ESPN through my cable provider. [SPEAKER_04]: That's the only reason. [SPEAKER_04]: You can't because YouTube TV doesn't have that deal yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I would need to spend separately to have access to the ESPN app, which would give me the access to whatever WWE event or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not going to make ESPNs. [SPEAKER_04]: They'll make a deal eventually. [SPEAKER_04]: Alright, um, the last thing. [SPEAKER_04]: If I say the name, send the locker to you. [SPEAKER_04]: What do you think of?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've just mentioned wrestling, so maybe I start thinking that, but girls just want to have fun. [SPEAKER_00]: I picture her in the ring with a little while bano. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I saw today there's a great Twitter account. [SPEAKER_04]: I should give them a plug because I really use them like every day for my column.
[SPEAKER_04]: The Twitter account is called old school 80s and they posted that they were like, you know, on this date, whatever it is, all gets 14 on this date, 1983. [SPEAKER_04]: Sydney Lawpers debut album came out. [SPEAKER_04]: And I hear the names of the L'Alper and all I think about is Rottie Piper kicking her in the rant slamming the record of a L'O'Bano's head. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: I put the video on my content, man.
[SPEAKER_04]: That was, that was the peak of it all for wrestling. [SPEAKER_00]: It was, it was really the beginning. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Of, like, to me, the best era, and I'm sure you as well, but that was the very beginning of what was about to just dominate hot culture.
[SPEAKER_04]: insane because that also took place before the first WrestleMania like that right and the bleeding to i mean i was i'm not gonna say it's the equivalent it wouldn't be the equivalent of like teller swift doing a w w but it would be the equivalent of like a del doing a w w e angle today like that's how insane it was back then like she had girls just when i fun time after time she was like red hot
[SPEAKER_04]: And there she is doing a story-life with Roddy Piper and Captain Willabano in scene. [SPEAKER_04]: And it was so good, so good. [SPEAKER_04]: All right, if you want to check that out, maybe if you have a few minutes to hit the YouTube today. [SPEAKER_00]: You're being, I'm pretty sure there've been, like, specials on that, or behind the scenes thing. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah, yeah, because MTV was involved. [SPEAKER_04]: It was like the war that settled the score.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right. [SPEAKER_04]: The WWE was doing shows on MTV, it was all at night. [SPEAKER_04]: And MTV at that time had just started. [SPEAKER_04]: They were red hot, so it was a whole, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Love it. [SPEAKER_04]: No one can tell me the 80s aren't the best. [SPEAKER_04]: All right. [SPEAKER_04]: We will see you next week. [SPEAKER_04]: Take you now. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'll deal later.
