Episode description

Episode 590 of "SI Media With Jimmy Traina" features a conversation with NBC’s Mike Tirico.

Tirico discusses what it’s like to call a dud playoff game (Chargers-Patriots) and being given the most anticipated divisional-round game in Rams-Chargers. Tirico also takes listeners through his epic call at the end of the Ravens-Steelers Week 18 game and the reaction to his performance.

In addition, the longtime play-by-play caller talks about calling his first Super Bowl this February, what his Super Bowl Sunday will look like, with him doing Olympic hosting duties immediately after the Big Game, and whether he looks forward to possibly calling the most watched event in history.

Tirico also weighs in on calling the Olympics and NBA action for NBC and his Michael Jordan interview that played out over multiple editions of the NBC pregame show.

Following Tirico, SNY's Sal Licata joins Jimmy for their weekly "Traina Thoughts" segment. This week, they discuss the NFL playoffs, old-school wrestling.

[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome everyone to S.I. [SPEAKER_02]: MediaWaveHead. [SPEAKER_02]: You may train it, thank you so much for listening, on its week show we have. [SPEAKER_02]: Mike Terrico, all of our run here for Mike. [SPEAKER_02]: And it felt super ball, first one ever, and coming up, the Olympics at BA on NBC. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't put all with Mike, it's great call at the end of the Raven. [SPEAKER_02]: Steelers game got the bears and Rams this week.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, calling is first super ball, getting into a little bit of the Michael Jordan interview that he did that was sort of played out over several episodes of NBC's pre-game shows. [SPEAKER_02]: So a lot there with Mike and appreciate him taking the time.

[SPEAKER_02]: During this hectic time for him as well, and then obviously Salacada, trained at thoughts following the Tereko interview where we get into a lot of NFL playoff talk and a couple of wrestling items not current wrestling, but old school wrestling that old school wrestling fans will appreciate. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Before we get into it, let me just remind you quickly. [SPEAKER_02]: If you missed any recent episodes, would appreciate it.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you gave him a listen, Laura Rutledge for me as PN was on the last week. [SPEAKER_02]: That was the first episode of 2026. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get to it. [SPEAKER_02]: The voice of sports on NBC, Mike Tureko, followed my Salacata and trainer thoughts. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, here, right now. [SPEAKER_02]: On SI Media with Jimmy Trana.

[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Trimmy now appreciate him coming on because there's no one busier right now NFL MBA Olympics from NBC sports You'll be hearing this voice a lot over the next couple of months. [SPEAKER_02]: Mike Trico Mike has a going in Jimmy. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Joe man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Happy new year happy seed I know a Larry David says will wait past the happy new year, but there we go [SPEAKER_02]: way past by 11 days, but it's okay, I'll say it's been a happy new year if you're part of the NFL family. [SPEAKER_02]: Great games and great ratings and you guys have you've got the best game this week. [SPEAKER_02]: How [SPEAKER_02]: where you, listen, no matter what game you get, you're gonna do your job, I get it.

[SPEAKER_02]: Did you give a little fist pump when you got Rams Bars, you got the top markets there on Sunday night? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, forget markets. [SPEAKER_00]: I live in the middle of the last time that I've been Michigan and I've never had a chance to a playoff game in soldier field.

[SPEAKER_00]: uh... so for that uh... to be in that time slots on the night six thirty of the blast i i love to a cold weather games uh... in chicago uh... have a great time of the bears organization so i'm just super through we've seen the ramps of the playoffs last couple of years also so love work with trauma bay in that crew so [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, of course, super excited. [SPEAKER_00]: The fun part of Monday night was none of us knew at one point during the second half.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was sitting here in my office and I texted Burkhart and they texted Nance and we were just kind of laughing none of us knew where we were going. [SPEAKER_00]: Usually, especially during this time of year with the NBA and Olympic stuff going on, like every day of preparation is gold. [SPEAKER_00]: And to lose a whole day, you're going, okay, we'll see if a Saturday game in Seattle is really going to shrink the week.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody at home cares, but it was fun for our little group to go back and forth kind of try to wonder where we're going to end up doing games this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you mentioned that because it was funny to me because when I was listening to Joe Buck, you know, basically go on for about five or ten minutes about not knowing the schedule.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was saying to myself, um, I said, I was saying myself, I can't figure out if like Joe knows the schedule and it's like a tease because he's not allowed to say it, or if he really does it, [SPEAKER_02]: that I thought would have been insane and then that's really how it played out. [SPEAKER_02]: So you like, 10 a.m. a clock on Monday night, you still didn't know what game you were calling.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sitting in my office watching the game didn't know until Joe said it and got a text almost simultaneously from our producer, Rob Highland to the same that we're heading to Chicago.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, did didn't know and then, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: As I typically would do, I stayed up the next two and a half hours and started on my boards for the bears and rams to make up for for short time, but as I said, nobody cares at home, where we've got the best weekend of the football season for all four of our crews at Fox and CBS and [SPEAKER_00]: ESPN ABC, it's a great, great weekend for all of us and we're through.

[SPEAKER_00]: These are the games that you do the championship game and the team that leave the field. [SPEAKER_00]: No, there are one win from the Super Bowl. [SPEAKER_00]: And that is just a cool finality to the season on both sides of the point when endless. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, we're taping on Wednesday, so obviously a lot can happen between now and Sunday night, but I guess that your early report so far are there could be some weather issues for that game as a play by play guy.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do you like weather issues? [SPEAKER_02]: Does it make you job more? [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, listen, obviously, you got to deal with yourself like freezing your ass off in the booth, but in terms of the game itself, do you like it? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you not like it? [SPEAKER_02]: How does a play by play person feel about the, you know, maybe rain or snow or something like that? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you want to be able to one call again, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So we have the Eagle's Ram's game in the second half snow last year in Philadelphia. [SPEAKER_00]: And at one point during that game it actually became a challenge to see the art lines for us. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, we used the computer graphics and super opposed the big yard markers.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you're kind of glance at the monitor, but if you looked over to the [SPEAKER_00]: wasn't the 25 and the 35, it was getting hard to distinguish at some points during late in that game, actually, as the rants are driving right to less than the booth and filly. [SPEAKER_00]: So, look, that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: That's fun. [SPEAKER_00]: It games in the snow just have a magical quality to them, always have over the years. [SPEAKER_00]: So, that's not bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: People always say that you're in the booth, how cold can you be, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And our group does a great job. [SPEAKER_00]: You help us stay as warm as possible. [SPEAKER_00]: I always say to people, open your freezer. [SPEAKER_00]: at home and talking to three and a half hours and tell me if you're warm. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're a little bit colder to a little bit harder to do the mechanics of your job.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I think we all figured out the people who I feel bad for our sideline reporters and Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartzungs with us this week. [SPEAKER_00]: We have both sidelines for the divisional playoff. [SPEAKER_00]: So go bad for them and then obviously all of our camera people audio other technicians who are on the field exposed in the weather. [SPEAKER_00]: But from a bigger picture, a cold weather game in Chicago is awesome.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's that shot from the less dense zone and soldier feel looking down at this upper deck of just fans who are all bundled, but you can see the breath coming out as they are cheering. [SPEAKER_00]: I can vividly remember in my mind, do what a packer is bears game, which I think at the time was the coldest bears home game. [SPEAKER_00]: And just that's what football looks like in your mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then to get it with all the time the line, plus what the Chicago story has been this year is more than you could ask for. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, it does, like I said, I don't know what the story is. [SPEAKER_02]: But I know it's supposed to be very cold. [SPEAKER_02]: He's, you know, have you ever had a situation where I'm just curious, like let's say you was going to snow?

[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever had a situation where you had to travel to do a game, bad weather, [SPEAKER_02]: you almost miss a game. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, not football. [SPEAKER_00]: That basketball's a little bit different. [SPEAKER_00]: Multiple games, different places, stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But football, we get in, we get in days early. [SPEAKER_00]: We go see the bears on Friday. [SPEAKER_00]: We go to practice on Friday for the home team ever during the season.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you're in town, you're there. [SPEAKER_00]: And if it happens to be a snowy day or snowy weather in the city that day, [SPEAKER_00]: you make the time needed to make sure that you're there and plenty of time. [SPEAKER_00]: So never there's never been like an old gosh we're not going to make it to the stadium kind of moment for us. [SPEAKER_00]: And there won't be this week I promise you that. [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: But you get some of these guys that do like a college game on Saturday and then they got an NFL game on Sunday. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, you wanted it. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I lived it. [SPEAKER_00]: I did one year. [SPEAKER_00]: I did a Thanksgiving night game in Pittsburgh, a Friday afternoon game in Boulder, Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: The skin's game golf Saturday Sunday in the desert Monday night count down in Bristol on Monday and then a college basketball game Syracuse on Tuesday and there was all those 15 things could have gone wrong and they didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't do nearly as much of that, but like this week will.

[SPEAKER_00]: we'll finish the game Sunday night in Chicago and we are headed to New York Monday because we're going to do next match on Martin Luther King Day because we have four games, one on Peacock and then three in a row on NBC. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be you know whether permitting a tight turn around there but you make it and you get there and if not we figure stuff out.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let me go backwards here for a minute and then we'll go forward because obviously, like I said, you have the Super Bowl this year Olympics. [SPEAKER_02]: Let me just, I'll go to last week quickly. [SPEAKER_02]: How much of a bummer is it when you get a dud like that as your game and the law card round? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, after the, what, four games before that were so good, and I had set a few times during the game, all of Sunday was a one-position game.

[SPEAKER_00]: So even though our game was a dud through the first couple of quarters, you never know you're a playaway from the game breaking out, but you just got the sense that the chargers couldn't do anything offensively. [SPEAKER_00]: to find a way to keep the Patriots five and six man rush from getting to Herbert. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the weakness that charges team.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've seen it with the changes made this week and offensive coordinator or offensive live coach being being moved on from. [SPEAKER_00]: But of course you get a playoff game you want it to be a great game, but we just had the most unbelievable game with the Steelers and Ravens the week before that. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's all a balance and still when even when the game was 16th or three with five minutes left, the charges hit one play and it's game on, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that way also think you feel a little bit more of that than you do in a regular season game where you're like, let's just get this over with. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, and when I say, Doug, too, I mean, you don't really have any great place to call. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the Monday night game turned out to be a dud, but they had that play with rank-ins, getting the defensive touch on.

[SPEAKER_02]: So you guys had, you know, it was like, dud from excitement standpoint too, which, you know. [SPEAKER_00]: Got it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was it was it balances out like you know there are nights where there are nights where you can't help the game there are nights where you can right and you just You do you do you know several hundred of these in different sports over the years and you just know that there's nothing you can do to over Over-dramatize what's going on, but there was that you know Drake make gave them chances.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was a ball bouncing that that day on Henley from the charges was this close to scooping up and going the other way for it's such down [SPEAKER_00]: So that was the one thing I think that I noticed, and I'll be fascinated to watch the early game Saturday with Denver. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm Bonyx because there's some of the young quarterbacks put the ball in harm's way way too often and even CJ Stroud. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, that playoff experience.

[SPEAKER_00]: It puts ball in harm's way way too often to win a championship. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's that everybody's got a [SPEAKER_00]: how Nick's and Sam Darnell with Seattle, how they handled the playoff pressure this week and the two teams we didn't see, who like New England and like the other teams we've talked about already on the path here, have an etched and Houston obviously, have an excellent defense that can get them all the way to Santa Clara. [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling this week will make up for the dud last week, because the bears play the craziest game. [SPEAKER_02]: So you should be in a good game.

[SPEAKER_02]: As you mentioned, as you mentioned the week before, you had that Pittsburgh Baltimore game, which, you know, when you look out at even today, even today, the sort of the fallout from that game with Tom one stepping down, Harbaugh's gone, [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, you were universally praised for your performance in that game, and especially that final two minutes there are a minute and a half when Luke missed the field goal.

[SPEAKER_02]: And what I really, what I love, then I would love for you to take me through it because I wrote this too. [SPEAKER_02]: I felt like when Boswell missed the extra point, your call without saying it said, all the ravens come in this game now very easily.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, I think that's in all so every extra point follows a touch down so the real estate before that extra point maybe the smallest set up real estate in our business right because you're celebrating the touchdown the big moment and the extra point rated 90 whatever percent.

[SPEAKER_00]: most of the time it makes sense, but you know right away and it's the line and you know Greg Olson did a great job in the game that he and Joe didn't ensure that the Rams game, you know, right before that, they get to the point. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're all big of the playoffs, but when you say it, a great set that you know exactly what's going through his mind without having to do the calculus for people.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so you knew it as soon as possible, this like, oh, darn, here it comes, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: a kick here or there, whether we seem Boswell, Tucker for many years or Baltimore. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: And in my mind immediately, without the space to get the words out, you just know like, oh my gosh, this is really the worst time for a guy who never misses extra points to miss one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And the [SPEAKER_02]: The funny thing about that, too, is like you said, you don't have a ton of time, like from the touchdown to the extra point, then the extra point to the kickoff. [SPEAKER_02]: And you got it across without the words, which I thought was tremendous. [SPEAKER_02]: And especially, too, in this day and age of NFL, if you have basically, [SPEAKER_02]: what? [SPEAKER_02]: 25 seconds on the clock you can come back.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you know, look, remember, remember, Kansas City did it with with no time was pretty much the seven seconds, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I got it down the field to get the field goal against Buffalo. [SPEAKER_00]: So it happens. [SPEAKER_00]: It can happen really fast if you have a timeout and you can more so now with the kickoff rules, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And the length of the kickers are hitting a ball.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I've been thinking of my mind here [SPEAKER_00]: If you have the right, if you have field goal kicker who can make a 60 plus yarder, then the field goal target becomes somewhere between the 40 and the 45. [SPEAKER_00]: So you start doing the math really quick. [SPEAKER_00]: For some reason, if you try to pay them out of balance and you're kicking out of balance, a 17 yard plate which you can field goal. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, and that that can take six to seven seconds.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the window of this game is over, they've won it has shrunk.

[SPEAKER_00]: There is, I think, panic at the disco for everyone, late and gives, which when you think about a Jimmy, what it's done is the same thing that the rule in the NBA does, where you can advance the ball in the last two minutes, [SPEAKER_00]: And in women's college basketball, which I think is one of the great timeouts that I would love to see men's college basketball adopt, because in women's college group game, you have one time out where you can advance the ball.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you get that advanced time that MDA affect to it once and you've got to strategically use that as well, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So, and only only at the end of the game. [SPEAKER_00]: So all of a sudden, this is what's happened with the kickoff rules, whether it's more returns or the ball to 35 on a touchback or 40 out of bounds, like all of a sudden, wait a minute, you just kind of jump the shark here and now you got a chance to win the game.

[SPEAKER_00]: So for us as broadcasters, there are more scenarios at play, [SPEAKER_00]: But for fans, it's great because the game's never over until it's over. [SPEAKER_02]: Football playoffs are here and underdog is the best place to get in on all the grid iron action. [SPEAKER_02]: Playing on underdog is easy. [SPEAKER_02]: Just pick if your favorite players will go higher a lower on statistics like touchdowns, rushing yards, receptions, and more.

[SPEAKER_02]: Get them right and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash. [SPEAKER_02]: This week on underdog, [SPEAKER_02]: lower on Drake may touch down against that ferocious Houston Texans defense on Monday night. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Drake may could be in for a long one there. [SPEAKER_02]: That Texans defense is just playing out of their minds right now. [SPEAKER_02]: So lower on Drake may touch down paces.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to go higher on Christian McCaffrey receptions against the Seahawks. [SPEAKER_02]: George Kittle is out. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think that means more targets for the old world running back, Christian McCaffrey and the Niners. [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go higher on his receptions. [SPEAKER_02]: So what are you waiting for? [SPEAKER_02]: Download the app today and use the promo code Sports Illustrated to score $75 in bonus entries when you play your first $5.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's promo code Sports Illustrated. [SPEAKER_02]: So, the fact that the comeback now is pretty easy, like you said, because the kickoff rules and these kickers kick 57, 58, or it's like there's no tomorrow.

[SPEAKER_02]: Does that make, is it where, as a play by play guy, do you feel like it makes it almost, like you've got to give them more deep, like, do you got to provide the information like, this is not over because of this, this and this, or do you assume the fan knows all that by now? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you have to remember in a playoff situation your audience has started growing, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Which is an amalgamation of all fan bases because at the end of the season, and it's also you get more casual fans, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So the casual fans are not nuanced on kickoff or turn things like that, but you don't want to insult or waste time with your regular constituency of fans.

[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a nuanced way to explain it like there was a game [SPEAKER_00]: New England and Baltimore, a few weeks back, where something happened, where the team trying to come back, turn the ball over Baltimore, but they still had their full complement of time out. [SPEAKER_00]: So I said right away, the game's not over, but.

[SPEAKER_00]: because I knew with three timeout thinking at the ball back and I'll do the math for you in a minute, but just to let people know, can they turn it over? [SPEAKER_00]: But the game says me the Patriots can take three knees and win the game. [SPEAKER_00]: So, that's all the stuff that we're both myself, Chris, our whole team in the booth as well. [SPEAKER_00]: We're all trying to make sure that we are aware of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we can put it on the viewer's radar as quickly as possible. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's funny too, these kickers have gotten so good at kicking the 50 plus yarder, but it does feel like now because of weather pressure, maybe it's a different story, I couldn't believe that Harbog had the ravens take the knee before the field goal.

[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was ridiculous, but you know, all year we've seen these kickers do it, and then of course, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in that situation, the distance is not the factor, 44 yards field goal for loop. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like it's 51, 52, 53, it's it's just this much more than an extra point, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So I didn't think get it out and remember, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, who was involved in that play, Baltimore?

[SPEAKER_00]: What is the calling part of Baltimore season? [SPEAKER_00]: Massive fumbles at big moments, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Three different games during the year you can point to them. [SPEAKER_00]: So why mess with that? [SPEAKER_00]: If you've lived, if some of you're sitting there on your couch thinking, well, get five more yards, it's an easier field goal.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: You also didn't sit in Wallo in the sorrow of the fumbles with Derek Henry during the year or a cold night in a bad exchange and I'll never live that down. [SPEAKER_00]: The 44-yard field goal is not a question of he's got to hit it harder. [SPEAKER_00]: He just has to stroke the kick. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I was like. [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's fun.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now you end by the way, and by the way, Boswell, Boswell, an unbelievable kicker, missed the extra point from even closer just earlier, you weren't going to move him closer.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, there was a lot of conversation that kick was blocked or not, and we looked at it, and we looked at it again this week, every possible angle, Rob, a pilot who I mentioned before, a producer, we got every angle, we looked back at it, [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost impossible to tell, but we don't think it was blocked because the trajectory of the Bosmal Kick didn't change after it passed the hands that were there.

[SPEAKER_00]: It just got a little bit higher towards its apex and took a hard ride, so you never know, and that's why these games are so good, because when the stakes are when are going home, the pressure is off the charts, off the charts for these pickers and teams and quarterbacks. [SPEAKER_02]: And you generated a massive amount of praise for your call of leaning up to the loop, miss, and then the loop, miss, and then after the loop, miss.

[SPEAKER_02]: When did you become aware that fans were keeping massive amounts of praise in you for that call? [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't know, I got back home and then got to sleep in the Monday. [SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, RPR guys and our group just said, hey, you know, I'm online. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at news and stuff and trying to get ready for our playoff game and all that. [SPEAKER_00]: You come across it and it's it's nice. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think that's.

[SPEAKER_00]: I try to treat it as, well, I get my job, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Do your job the best way you can. [SPEAKER_00]: You've done, you know, five or six hundred football games in your life, whether they were high school college or, you know, NFL. [SPEAKER_00]: So in those situations, hopefully you know, how to do it, somewhat reasonably good.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you hit one that people say, hey, you did a good job that's satisfying and great, but it doesn't do a damn thing for the next opportunity. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't have done that much better. [SPEAKER_00]: No, in the live moment, no, because in the live moment, what I'm focused on is that as soon as that kick is done, lay out.

[SPEAKER_00]: watch the moments that are happening in front of us, and then we've got the roll out going off the air with a different replays and the reactions. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's like, okay, you're coming like either an eye and an eye, so replays of the key people in the game, and you don't know what Jordan, they're going to come up and, you know, our producer Rob Highlands is Tatsauj OK, it's Arba next, it's Tomlin next, and how do you write on the fly, the one line that goes with that?

[SPEAKER_00]: So my head's going there, and then it's just redone that. [SPEAKER_00]: We got a three segment post game coming up at the wild card schedule that we're going to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking at that for the first time where we're all going with the games are so you're just kind of just moving along. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's no chances to sit there and go, okay, that was that was acceptable to some people. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't live in that and just try to move on. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't take praise well. [SPEAKER_00]: I just kind of try to say okay great That's doing your job and what's good to the next one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll take the praise because because when I wrote it like strike What I wrote your like stay was what what was impressive to me was a lot of things in press But it in you had 30 seconds to 30 seconds to set up and you got you mentioned [SPEAKER_02]: The Ravens used to have just in Tucker could have been the final moments of Aaron Rodgers career. [SPEAKER_02]: The Ravens decided loop had the right stuff after scouting him.

[SPEAKER_02]: What I loved is you said this was the final play of the regular season, like that was an even something going through Maya, and then obviously the kick with determined a player spot. [SPEAKER_02]: You got all that in in 30 seconds. [SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty damn good. [SPEAKER_02]: So take the parties. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I will. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_00]: They said, you know, well, a lot of that stuff comes to you at the moment, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: The final play of the regular season was that just kind of jumped in my head. [SPEAKER_00]: But the Aaron Rogers is full credits where I directed Jurassic off because I'm kind of living on the monitor at that point and watch what people are seeing at home and drew got that unbelievable shot of air. [SPEAKER_00]: It was sitting there and they're like, what the, you know what, right? [SPEAKER_00]: What point just happened?

[SPEAKER_00]: And I probably wouldn't have gone Aaron Rogers in that sequence, [SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's you trust in your team. [SPEAKER_00]: Like Drew, Drew's done all those super balls and he's as good as there ever has been in directing an NFL game. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the perfect shot at that moment, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, that's why we all do, you know, that's why it's valuable to do 20 weeks a year and dinners on Friday night meetings together on Saturdays and the games every Sunday night and talk about it on the next day because

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I know if Drew's going to take that shot, it's important to the story and I want to be right there with him as we go through those moments and Chris is, you know, Chris is the best he's not he's when when it's when it's really important Chris is going to get in there and if it's a set up for a dramatic moment, Chris is just like, you know, you got to go ahead, which is, which is cool. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the best that's why I love I love working with our group.

[SPEAKER_00]: I really do. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, now let me go forward. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So like I said, so my, so NBC has everyone knows they have the NBA again. [SPEAKER_02]: Mike Mike's going to do Martin with the King, like he said, that day, um, and then February 1st Sunday night basketball goes right over into something night football slot. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's Nick's Lakers that night, and then it'll be Olympics and your first Super Bowl.

[SPEAKER_02]: Take me through what I want to know is take me through like your sort of itinerary. [SPEAKER_02]: Sure. [SPEAKER_02]: From. [SPEAKER_02]: Sure. [SPEAKER_02]: at, I don't know, let's say, 10 o'clock in the morning until you go to sleep that because I know you're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll back up for you. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll back up for you. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll go to New York for the next lakers and then after that head out to Santa Clara, we'll do Super Bowl week out there.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then I will contribute to our Olympic coverage on Friday and Saturday. [SPEAKER_00]: I won't do much, but I'll contribute to Friday and Saturday. [SPEAKER_00]: Marie Taylor is going to host [SPEAKER_00]: Savannah Guthrie and Terry Gannon are doing the opening ceremony Friday, so I'll do something in both of those shows.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then Sunday, you know, Sunday morning, I assume will be somewhat normal, but just elongated a game day for us, the game starts earlier, that our game's normally start 330 local time, 630 Eastern Super Bowl Sunday, but I'm sure we have a stadium in plenty of time. [SPEAKER_00]: I absolutely will get up in the morning and watch the women's downhill.

[SPEAKER_00]: because that could be Lindsay Vaughn, which Jimmy might be the best Olympic story ever, ever for an individual athlete, 41 years old, 16 years removed from her first gold medal with a titanium knee after her knee replacement. [SPEAKER_00]: and she's one, two downhills already in the world cup this year. [SPEAKER_00]: If she wins and that's Super Bowl Sunday morning very, very early that day.

[SPEAKER_00]: That might be as good an individual Olympic story as we have ever seen because downhills, it's one of the signature events. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like 100 meters in track, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And swimming. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's, so I will definitely get up in the morning and watch that and then whenever we get out to the [SPEAKER_00]: stadium, do the game and all that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then right when the game ends down to the field, we have an hour and a half or so Olympic prime time show. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll host that from the field. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we're off to the airport a few hours later, flight to Italy, Savannah Guthrie's hosting the Monday night prime time show.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'll be there Tuesday, you know, late in the afternoon and on the air hosting the live daytime at the back end of the afternoon, Rebecca low is doing the front part of the daytime shows. [SPEAKER_00]: And then start doing the prime time show, then we'll rinse or repeat that for two weeks until the games are done. [SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be 14 straight days of that. [SPEAKER_00]: So on the eighth. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Super Bowl Sunday after the Super Bowl wraps up.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you're on NBC with Olympic coverage. [SPEAKER_00]: right down to the field will host from the field or they're about somewhere in the stadium are hour and a half Super Bowl Olympic prime time show and then is it right after that on an airplane? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, there's there are several of us who are heading over to Italy after the Super Bowl and you know, I don't know the exact time just yet, but it'll be a little bit and we'll get on a along flight to Milan.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll we'll take a take a nice big Delta bird over to Milan [SPEAKER_02]: I have to say, I was surprised myself a little bit in just looking up some stuff and doing research that this is your first Super Bowl. [SPEAKER_02]: In my head, I would have just assumed Mike Tree, I mean, I covered this for a living, I could tell you who did the last 50 Superballs, but like, right, right, right.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why I just, like, it just seems like a guy who has done a Super Bowl, but you have it. [SPEAKER_02]: Any nerves, any giddars, anything like that, or you've been doing this too long, and that's not a factor. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure there'll be something in between adrenaline anticipation, excitement and a bit of uncertainty, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But I think much like you hear players say, you know, once you get a hit in the game, you get tackled that it becomes a football game. [SPEAKER_00]: And at some point it becomes a football game. [SPEAKER_00]: At no point during a playoff game where you're thinking, well, there is 28% more people watching than [SPEAKER_00]: we're watching week five in Tampa Bay on a Monday night or a Sunday night or a Thursday night.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you just kind of, I think go through, I think talking about it is the only part of it that makes you stop and think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do stop and think about the opportunity to call the [SPEAKER_00]: hosted the Super Bowl pre-game last time around that we had it Super Bowl 56 to have the chance to do that, host the pre-game show. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was part of like 3 ADSPN and ABC, which was so so fun and trophy presentations and all that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when we were doing the Monday night studio show for ESPN or Sports Center or ESPN radio, I probably covered another, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: 15 to 20 and I've gone every year as a fan, you know, probably for the last decade or so. [SPEAKER_00]: So I've been to so many of them, but to be in that small group, get the opportunity to do it is, is just the career highlight. [SPEAKER_00]: There's, there's no two ways about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, it's something I'm looking forward to and I'm so lucky. [SPEAKER_00]: that I get to do with the people who mean a lot to me and that's Chris, Melissa Kaylee, Rob, Highland, and Drew S.A.C.F. [SPEAKER_00]: to have that group and our whole production team. [SPEAKER_00]: We have we've such a fun, cool group. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we do secret Santa with our production group during the year. [SPEAKER_00]: We laugh a lot and we hear that with a lot of crews.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it is true, but to be able to have this first experience of the crew that I'm so fond of is so additive to this experience. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, as the gift you got from your secret Santa, I got a great golf shirt from the future side of the PGA championship. [SPEAKER_00]: in Frisco, Texas, which I will proudly wear on the golf course this year. [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, it's a fun, because then you have to guess, obviously, the whole secret.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have to guess who in the group of 20 was your secret Santa, and that makes the Sunday production meeting a little bit more fun than normal. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure you'll say you don't care because I think that's what every broadcaster would say, but yes, you guys will set a ratings record for the Super Bowl because the way Nielsen now counts, it'll be right. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you care about that at all? [SPEAKER_02]: Um, like the P-O-I-T will care.

[SPEAKER_02]: But they will care. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course. [SPEAKER_00]: And then they should. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't affect our job one bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: If you say 110 million people or 125 million people or 88, but there's that's a number you can't wrap your head around. [SPEAKER_00]: So, so for me, it doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_00]: You do know that it's.

[SPEAKER_00]: a large audience that you want to just try to find the right sweet spot as you go through it, but we're where that lands on the most watched, et cetera, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a game ball up above shelf from a game, a cable game, a Monday Night Football ESPN only game that Brett Farve played against the Packers in Minnesota for the first time, the Farve game, and it says they're highest rated most viewed programming, [SPEAKER_00]: But nobody cares, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's fun to be a part of something that is unique and special, but the true record of it, they won't change my life one bit when I get on the plane after the game and go to Italy. [SPEAKER_02]: I know we started late, and I get two quickies into you. [SPEAKER_02]: Have the rush. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll just do two, these two quickies. [SPEAKER_02]: Give me a little, so when, so MBA, MBA can be, so you got the MBA back.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: The big deal is made early on about the Jordan interviews that you did with the Jordan. [SPEAKER_02]: Did you guys do one day of interviews? [SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, is there another day scheduled? [SPEAKER_00]: What's the story with Michael Jordan and nothing, nothing schedule as of now that I know of, but it is possibility. [SPEAKER_00]: I hope there's something else after it. [SPEAKER_00]: Michael was awesome.

[SPEAKER_02]: Michael, how long did you guys, was that whole, like that whole, I mean, they chopped it up, [SPEAKER_00]: was your capital. [SPEAKER_00]: We probably talked for two hour forty five maybe hour forty something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to remember because we did we we we we were down there I was down there for two days. [SPEAKER_00]: So we we we talked the day before and then did the interview and you know Michael doesn't talk much.

[SPEAKER_00]: As you know Michael still has so many interests in the game. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean business interest with a piece of the [SPEAKER_00]: obviously his involvement with Brand Jordan right so so there's so much there's so much involved there um you know is there are a ton of topics she'd love to get to of course but Michael really wanted to talk about where he sees the game right now [SPEAKER_00]: And we haven't heard a lot of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it was interesting, it was fun, it was good perspective. [SPEAKER_00]: The thing my takeaway was how much he cares about the game still. [SPEAKER_00]: He loves the game. [SPEAKER_00]: And in some regards, doesn't love some of the direction of the game. [SPEAKER_00]: and he wanted to talk about it. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was a great forum, his longevity and connection with the NBA and NBC-made it possible. [SPEAKER_00]: So was it what everyone wanted? [SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.

[SPEAKER_00]: Was it better than not here for Michael Jordan? [SPEAKER_00]: Your damn right it was. [SPEAKER_00]: And if we get another shot of it, will I be more than excited to be a part of it? [SPEAKER_00]: You betcha. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, he [SPEAKER_00]: So in our world right now, all you want to do is make the final answer before you know everything. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And I loved it. [SPEAKER_00]: I loved it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Michael trusted us enough to Sit and do something that he hasn't done in a long, long, long, long time to talk about where the where the game is right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a few more to come that will still be pitch perfect for the moment. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, although it's not going to talk about Nicole Yokech got injured here four weeks ago for Denver. [SPEAKER_00]: But we've got a hundred people talking about that, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have the greatest player of all time talking about what he sees as the evolution of the game. [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, I think people, here's, here's, I come away with Jimmy from those, every time one [SPEAKER_00]: But they also talk about what he said, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, oh, Michael said this. [SPEAKER_00]: Isn't this interesting? [SPEAKER_00]: It starts as topic of conversation. [SPEAKER_00]: So his voice still resonates.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the time that he uses that voice, if it's with us, then I think it's added if to what we do as a network. [SPEAKER_02]: Let me end it on a little levity. [SPEAKER_02]: Not levity for you at the moment, but make a book back on it with levity. [SPEAKER_02]: Sure. [SPEAKER_02]: What exactly did you eat at the Kentucky Derby? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that triggered your not allergy to make you have to leave the air.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very simply it was a snack, either a cookie or a piece of something in our feather light, which is our remote, remote truck, where we do some office space. [SPEAKER_00]: It was just walking by and picking up a little bit of something and just having a snack is just a long day and you end up grazing the entire day after eating a bigger meal in the morning. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the reality. [SPEAKER_00]: What was the coolest part?

[SPEAKER_00]: with the people who cared and looked after me, which is great. [SPEAKER_00]: The other cool part was, [SPEAKER_00]: instead of, or being just upfront about it, and honest with what happened, and going on today's show the next Monday morning with Savannah and Craig and talking about it too, like the number of people I heard from who have kids with not allergies, or, you know, if you have a not allergy, if you have a food allergy in your life, you get it, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not funny, it's real, it's every meal, it's important. [SPEAKER_00]: And to hear from a number of people from why never heard of, who reached out, even sadly people who've lost. [SPEAKER_00]: people in their lives because of reactions to food allergies brought away. [SPEAKER_00]: If it brought awareness to it, then I'm not happy it happens, but I'm glad it got the attention it got.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, well obviously you had to be, I mean, severely messed up for you to leave alive event. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's right. [SPEAKER_00]: And I tried to play through it and could not, you know, for it was that it was that bad. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I ended up, I ended up leaving the track.

[SPEAKER_00]: about an hour and a half before the race and then watch the race in bed and then fell asleep like right after that and then slept through the night with all the [SPEAKER_00]: men say god and all that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It's no, I care. [SPEAKER_00]: I know people who have allergies carry Epipens with them on a regular basis.

[SPEAKER_00]: I do the good news is when I go to a restaurant, Collinsworth, Rob Hywood, our producer, Melissa, they all tell the server, hey, Mike has a nut allergy. [SPEAKER_00]: They'll see it before I do now, which is right. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got this army of people protecting all the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can promise you that I will be sure exactly everything I consume on [SPEAKER_00]: I was going, I was going to say now, it's Super Bowl slum sink, no grazing, no grazing, no grazing, no, no, unless somebody wants to take me out for the game, but, no, it's less than learning, even though I've been dealing with this most of my life, it's less than learning.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's all right, we've got a good group of people looking out after me, so hopefully hopefully we'll get through the game all right, and then the rest of the Olympics and all that good stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I appreciate coming on, like I said, I know it's a busy time.

[SPEAKER_02]: I want to get you sort of before it even gets crazier, so [SPEAKER_02]: everyone so Mike obviously Super Bowl Sunday you'll see him then on the Olympic coverage NBA on NBC you're not a big Olympics guy are you I am not a big Olympics guy why not I don't it's it's it's it's my thing is I need teams and a league and seasons I got into like two weeks fly in and then two weeks your god I'm not into that Here's here's yeah here's the one here's it's one team for you

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I have no I don't yeah, like I don't see things because of USA like that's I don't know what you don't you don't You don't roof for your country I don't care. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh come on. [SPEAKER_02]: I root for people.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like to root for people So like I would don't get so you like or roof for your hottest clay bow What if you want like if you say you ask it's in the hockey final on that Sunday morning are you waking up with us [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, no, you couldn't pay me. [SPEAKER_02]: What's that? [SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to say it's like maybe Canada for the gold medal? [SPEAKER_02]: I've been watching a hockey game probably since the Rangers beat the conucks in the Stanley Cup in 94.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not waking up for the Olympics. [SPEAKER_02]: And let's say the US basketball team was playing some little dinky country. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd moved for the little dinky country. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd want the upset. [SPEAKER_02]: I like the anarchy. [SPEAKER_02]: I like the anarchy of the big team losing. [SPEAKER_00]: even in the politically divided times. [SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the few things that brings the entire country where you were born and you live together.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to go Jimmy. [SPEAKER_02]: I have so many comments I can make, but I can't go there. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't go there. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's what I'll, here's my pitch for enjoying the Olympics just for your [SPEAKER_00]: for two weeks, all these athletes put something metal on their feet and go down ice and snow as fast as possible in this most dare devil collection of sports.

[SPEAKER_00]: and just really take their health and their life in their hands to try to win and be the best in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the essence of sports. [SPEAKER_00]: It's stuff we never do, we never dream of trying to do, and the athletes are awesome.

[SPEAKER_00]: I just, the more I've gotten involved in the Olympics, I... [SPEAKER_00]: I admire what the people do and I love what it does to the world that there's somebody training half a world from us right now, away from us right now, and the person training the US and that person are going to be in the same space competing for the title of Best in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't myself job on you. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, no, I don't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, I respect the athletes for their talent and all that. [SPEAKER_02]: I just, it's not something I ever got into. [SPEAKER_02]: I like the league, the seasons, the teams. [SPEAKER_02]: I like, I like all that. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't like this sort of drive-by event. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to say to you, it's Team USA T-shirt. [SPEAKER_00]: for you to wear proudlys under your court as if I don't know any of these people.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why it's hard for me to get into a two like why we're here. [SPEAKER_02]: It's why we're here. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we do. [SPEAKER_00]: Introduction to the people. [SPEAKER_00]: But listen, I hear it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it's not a league. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not something you follow week to week. [SPEAKER_00]: But hockey, I figured, I figured being a New York guy, the hockey would at least appeal in some way, shape or form.

[SPEAKER_02]: The older I've gotten, some sports have had to peel off. [SPEAKER_02]: So like. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was number a huge hockey guy was always NFL college football baseball NBA. [SPEAKER_02]: That was always That was always it for me. [SPEAKER_02]: I've never a big hockey person. [SPEAKER_02]: So all right, all right, fair enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well Like most of the country, I mean Yeah, no, but if it's US Canada, it'll be the most watch hockey game in years and years and years and it'll be early in the morning. [SPEAKER_00]: So you look Well, I will tell you all [SPEAKER_00]: I don't it's it's on some piece of paper. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I guess somewhere here. [SPEAKER_00]: It's in the like the 9 a.m. range or 8 a.m. range. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: I think people will love that people.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think people love like an early game like that. [SPEAKER_02]: That I think that'll do. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll wake up around the country. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Check in here. [SPEAKER_00]: Hang on a second. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not on this page. [SPEAKER_00]: I got it. [SPEAKER_00]: I got Olympic tack again. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not there. [SPEAKER_00]: It's here. [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, I'll be watching you Saturday. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll be watching you in the Super Bowl. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll be watching you next Lakers. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll be out. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll get plenty of Mike Trico. [SPEAKER_00]: Just give us five Olympic minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: She'll be caught. [SPEAKER_00]: Just give us like a song. [SPEAKER_00]: Just just come say hi to us in the eight o'clock. [SPEAKER_00]: One night at an NBC. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll see what I can do. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll see what I can do. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Stay well. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate it. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Joining me now is he does every week for our training thought segment from SNYTV. [SPEAKER_02]: My buddy, Salacotta, Sal has it going. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not bad.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, trying to enjoy the two, in my opinion, two best weekends in sports, so a good wildcard round. [SPEAKER_02]: And I should mention, you can hear Sal on the Stugots podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: He's done at the last couple of weeks. [SPEAKER_02]: So check that out if you want more Sal. [SPEAKER_02]: Before we get into the old football, let me ask you quickly. [SPEAKER_02]: I just finished taping an interview with Mike Trico, who's great.

[SPEAKER_02]: And at the very end, he called me out for not being an elliptic guy. [SPEAKER_02]: Because he's got the elliptic. [SPEAKER_02]: Will you watch any of the elliptics? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm put it this way. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to make it a point. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say I'm not going to watch any of it because if it happens to be on, I'm like, oh, okay, maybe there's something compelling there. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm not one of these active.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I can't wait to watch this. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not. [SPEAKER_02]: He was very disappointed because I said I went wake up early on a Sunday morning to watch the USA hockey team. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I'll probably watch a little hockey. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the other draw? [SPEAKER_01]: The people who cover the Olympics give way more of a shit about the Olympics than like, at least to me, the normal sports fan.

[SPEAKER_01]: They make it a huge deal because where is it? [SPEAKER_01]: Where is it in Paris or something like that? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're all going away, they're covering it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, that's cool for you. [SPEAKER_01]: But why do I care? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know where it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what do I care? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, a lot of people like the Olympics.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure how many of them are sports fans. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, but they, you know, a lot, I think there are a massive amount of non-sports fans who like you a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, but that's my point. [SPEAKER_01]: Like you and I are sports fans like baseball, football, basketball, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like my mother or father might be more into figure skating than they would be watching a football game and on the opposite.

[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get to what's really, really, really important here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: From Thursday night when we had the first college football semifinal playoff until the end of Monday night [SPEAKER_02]: You boy went on a seven in one run with the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow, seven had one.

[SPEAKER_02]: I had the over on the college football game Thursday, Miami Ole Miss. [SPEAKER_02]: I had the over on the college football game Friday, Oregon in the Anna had the Panthers plus 10 and a half early Saturday had the they earned the Panthers all the points. [SPEAKER_02]: And Chris Russo saying that [SPEAKER_02]: The Rams had no chance to lose the game, and his theory was, his theory was don't, it doesn't matter about the spread, just pick who you think's got to win.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the line's 10 and a half. [SPEAKER_02]: And then we spoke about it on the phone and he yelled at me and paraded me saying, how can I root for the Panthers when I should be rooting for the better game, which would be Rams C Hawks in a, in a, in a [SPEAKER_02]: I said, but because I'm factoring 10 and a half points, you make millions of dollars. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't. [SPEAKER_02]: So I need to win my bets. [SPEAKER_02]: You lose your bets. [SPEAKER_02]: It don't matter.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's telling me I'm supposed to root for the Panther and root for the Rams because it'll lead to the better NFC target. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm rooting for who's going to cover a spread. [SPEAKER_02]: So I had the Panthers plus 10 and a half. [SPEAKER_02]: I had the air Saturday night. [SPEAKER_02]: I my one loss early Sunday with the jag wars and then I had the Niners and I had the Patriots and I had the Texans. [SPEAKER_02]: So seven and a one since Thursday.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I read somewhere that the public was perfect and I get in I guess those games with you know the betting majority the public When everyone bet Houston on Monday night right I couldn't see anyone picking Pittsburgh See now I got what an ass kicking that was I have a defense like that in ages holy [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, it's also the seal of offense, just tanks. [SPEAKER_01]: I love Aaron Rodgers, but they're offense tanks.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll be curious to see what the Texans could do now this week against the wing one, but I'm always a I wouldn't have I hate going with the public now when I made these picks I was trying not to factor that in as a matter of fact, you and I when we did the picks a week ago, I went opposite of some of those like Buffalo the day off I actually had Buffalo, the only two I hit were Buffalo and what was the second game that day? [SPEAKER_02]: The diners and the ignores.

[SPEAKER_01]: Niners. [SPEAKER_01]: Niners. [SPEAKER_01]: Buffalo and the Niners. [SPEAKER_01]: I got screwed with the Packers the night before. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought the Rams are going to crush the other two games are really going to have a great feel for. [SPEAKER_01]: But I will now because the public won and the majority of people who thought the teams are going to want to work out that way, I would say the opposite is probably going to happen this week. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just me.

[SPEAKER_01]: Law of averages type. [SPEAKER_01]: I know you don't get into that. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, yeah, we're taping on Wednesday. [SPEAKER_02]: So I can't say yet if what I've seen from the public, I know me personally, I'm just going to bet all four underdogs this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, all four underdogs. [SPEAKER_02]: But let me just follow. [SPEAKER_02]: There was a review left on Apple.

[SPEAKER_02]: You guys have slacked with the Apple reviews, which hurts my feelings and just devastates me. [SPEAKER_02]: It would like more people leave reviews on Apple. [SPEAKER_02]: So I can read them here and get the rating up from 4.6 to 4.7. [SPEAKER_02]: But you guys have stopped leaving reviews, it's hurtful. [SPEAKER_02]: But someone left a review last week, just ripping you to shreds me? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'll read the review.

[SPEAKER_02]: It says five stars, five star year in 2025, Sal is dead to me. [SPEAKER_02]: quote, Sal is dead to me, picking Green Bay over the bears, writing this review on January 7th before the game. [SPEAKER_02]: I was so upset at the Odyssey change up and Sal losing his spot with BT. [SPEAKER_02]: I would listen on the app to that show for quick fix when something big in New York sports happened.

[SPEAKER_02]: It hasn't been much lately, but I feel like he went for the heel turn and gave me a Hogan leg drop of death death. [SPEAKER_02]: I am now officially back on calling for an all-male big addition this summer with South's wife. [SPEAKER_02]: Jimmy gets five stars for the pilot and so it's been taking the bears in the points. [SPEAKER_02]: Little Rotler, Genevieve, was an A plus, as was Joe Bock, the prologyrier year end, was a mustless and as always.

[SPEAKER_02]: So this guy is [SPEAKER_02]: you really were right. [SPEAKER_02]: The packers were the right pick in that game. [SPEAKER_02]: So I I appreciate this guy defending me and you know, he was a fan of yours on the fan, but technically you can't rip someone who bet the packers that night. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, he he's just a bear's fan, which I respect and appreciate. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't make that pick personally against any bear's fan.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I will say that I do need to take a big L because I just have not been a believer [SPEAKER_01]: in the bears all year long. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, to your point, I mean, the package should all in that game 15 times over. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and like they choked it away, they lost it, Caleb Williams in one of the all-time great plays on that foot down. [SPEAKER_01]: At some point, you have to believe what you're seeing.

[SPEAKER_01]: They've been coached extremely well from Ben Johnson. [SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Williams, even though he's not consistent, makes the big plays. [SPEAKER_01]: The bears continue to come back, the defenses good. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I was wrong with that one, the bears got it right. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'd be fascinated to say, [SPEAKER_01]: that the bears are, they're at home in their four point, unless that check was like four and a half. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, underdog, how is that possible?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, because they play all these games that they should lose, and then they have these crazy finishes. [SPEAKER_02]: And the theory is that, you know, that's got to run out at some point. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, but, but the, the Rams look impressive to you against the crappy Carolina Panthers. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying, I'm not saying, I'm not saying each week carries over, but I mean, the Rams have not been playing good football now for weeks.

[SPEAKER_01]: They lost to the Falcons and again, they had to win to maybe win that division still. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was a little surprised at that line initially. [SPEAKER_02]: I should have mentioned the guy who left that review has used a name is Mike P. in Chicago. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's go through these four games quickly here. [SPEAKER_02]: So it starts Saturday at 430 on CBS, dance, Romo. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll let me just say one thing about that too.

[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone flipped out about Romo last week where you would know it, what Romo's formats. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, I saw the the clip that everybody was making a big deal about, uh, when I was watching that it also made no sense to me, but that that happened sometimes you're on the earth and it just ran mostly something maybe makes no sense.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was a rough three hours overall, but the the people who think that they're going to demote Nancy and Romo for Iron and JJ what like. [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't be more clueless. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, Ramos making 18 million dollars a year. [SPEAKER_02]: He has a contract till 2030. [SPEAKER_02]: And Nancy's the face and voice of CBS sports. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to make them want to number two team. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, people are not.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I just don't understand the theme. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, when you say, well, the winner of this could really go to the Super Bowl. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, in the shed. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know where you're going to go. [SPEAKER_02]: In the first quarter, this could determine the game. [SPEAKER_02]: That's my biggest beef with Roma. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: So the bills are one and a half point favorites in Denver.

[SPEAKER_02]: The total is 46 and a half. [SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, I'm going to go Denver because [SPEAKER_02]: The only way the bills when these games is when Josh Allen just plays completely out of his mind, which he does every week. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's sort of like that bear's theory, like there's got to be a week where he doesn't play out of his mind because he has no help. [SPEAKER_02]: He has no weapons. [SPEAKER_02]: He has James Cook who's great, being played great last week.

[SPEAKER_02]: They've got no receivers. [SPEAKER_02]: He has to throw to Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid on the road in Denver. [SPEAKER_02]: Good defense. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Sean Payton versus Sean McDermott is a big coaching mismatch. [SPEAKER_01]: I will take the Broncos plus the point that I have been a big Broncos supporter all year like actually dating back to last year. [SPEAKER_01]: I had their over in season this year. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been calling on the best team the best defense.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're not the Texans or the best defense. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm riding the bills. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm riding Allen in the bills. [SPEAKER_01]: He's the best. [SPEAKER_01]: You're right about Peyton and the coach going to that place. [SPEAKER_01]: For me, daunting task in Denver, the atmosphere is going to be insane. [SPEAKER_01]: As a one seed, I just feel like it's got to be, this has got to be the year for Josh Allen in the bills. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ride with that.

[SPEAKER_01]: More so than bone nicks, or you could see making a big mistake in a big spot if it's a tight game. [SPEAKER_01]: I trust Allen to take over whether it's with his legs or his arms. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to roll with Buffalo in game number one. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, even Tureko and I had a mod even said, you know, we have to see Bonyx, you know, first really huge game.

[SPEAKER_02]: My thing is that the bill's defense stinks, I'm not worried about Bonyx, because I think the bill's defense is terrible. [SPEAKER_01]: And wasn't that bad against Jacksonville. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I know what you're saying, but what did they score Jackson? [SPEAKER_02]: At least scored like 27 points. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it wasn't to me. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't that bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it was like a good number one. [SPEAKER_02]: He's seven or something.

[SPEAKER_01]: and Jackson's only four better offensive team than Denver. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate this game. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate this game because I want to see this be the championship game. [SPEAKER_01]: These are my two favorite teams in the AFC. [SPEAKER_01]: It was teams that I believe in the most in the AFCs. [SPEAKER_01]: So I hate that we have to have it now. [SPEAKER_02]: 27 24 was the final. [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Saturday night eight o'clock, Fox, Berkart and Brady Seattle is giving seven to San Fran total 45. [SPEAKER_02]: And if I just think the line's [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, why is everyone in a half point favorite? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, because Seattle's been kicking everybody's ass. [SPEAKER_02]: They have a great defense. [SPEAKER_02]: And the Niners lost to them 13 to three a couple of weeks ago. [SPEAKER_02]: And the game was in San Francisco.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a big line though. [SPEAKER_02]: Come with you. [SPEAKER_02]: It's to me it's the same thing last week as Carolina. [SPEAKER_02]: Like if you're gonna give me seven and a half points in a playoff game, I have to take it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the Niners are winning outright, I just will take the points. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I believe in them. [SPEAKER_01]: I believe in Shanna. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, it sucks what all the injuries.

[SPEAKER_01]: Also, it does suck one thing that bothers me and I know it shouldn't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: Shanna had basically begged for it after the game saying, I hope the NFL's kind to us and put us on Sunday. [SPEAKER_01]: You get the C-Hawks coming off of a buy and you get the Niners coming back across the coast on a short week after points. [SPEAKER_01]: So I like that's bullshit. [SPEAKER_02]: they got screwed. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: They got screwed.

[SPEAKER_02]: They, but it's what? [SPEAKER_02]: Because they want bears ram Sunday night. [SPEAKER_02]: The bears ram's game should be Saturday. [SPEAKER_02]: Both those teams played Saturday last week. [SPEAKER_01]: I, but, and by the way, I'm shocked at that. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, if I were doing the, and I was doing this, oh, which game is going to be Saturday at four. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought for sure, it was going to be the bears ram's Saturday at four.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to get the biggest ratings by far with those markets and the bears and all that. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: Sunday, three o'clock ESPN. [SPEAKER_02]: Joe and Troy, the Patriots of three and a half point favorites against Houston, total is 40 and a half. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand. [SPEAKER_02]: Listen, CJ Strowd could not have played worse last week. [SPEAKER_02]: And if he plays like that again, I don't think they're going to win.

[SPEAKER_02]: Because obviously the Patriot offense is way better than the stealers offense. [SPEAKER_02]: But the fact that it's three and a half, you get that half point, I will, and again, Drake Bay, we have not seen him playing a game in this big. [SPEAKER_02]: So I will, and I think, listen, I think it's very hard for the Texans to have that kind of defensive performance two weeks in a row on the road, but I will take points again and take use to it.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one game I think I'm gonna pick the favorite in. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you said the bill, are the bills a favorite point of half? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: It's basically a pick and but this I think New England and I've been not anti New England, but just I need them to show it. [SPEAKER_01]: I need them to prove it the way that they handled the chargers. [SPEAKER_01]: The way that they could run the football.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're better coach than the Texans Texans have an SD defense. [SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think a part of what we saw on Monday was the stealers offense. [SPEAKER_01]: That is not going to happen even though Drake may we shaky in the first playoff game against you know the chargers. [SPEAKER_01]: I think they'll be able to run the football better than the Steelers we're able to do.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you New England at home against a Texan because you mentioned it. [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, what the hell happened to CJ Stroud? [SPEAKER_01]: You couldn't be worse than he was in that game. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a big believer in him anymore after what I've seen. [SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking to manual class say in Terry Rose, you know what I was watching that game. [SPEAKER_02]: He was that big. [SPEAKER_02]: He's giving the Steelers the ball.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was that bad. [SPEAKER_02]: He was that bad. [SPEAKER_02]: And they still want 36. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right. [SPEAKER_02]: And then of course Sunday night NBC My Trico Chris Collins worth like you said the Rams are four point favorites on the road at Chicago again I will just just take to me The game analysis is one thing. [SPEAKER_02]: I you're gonna give me points gonna be four points more than a field goal.

[SPEAKER_02]: I will take it [SPEAKER_01]: My only thing is, I, Francis used to say this all the time and it's such a great thing and I actually thought about it Friday night before I was about to bet the Indiana Oregon game. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're not there for the wedding, don't show up for the funeral. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm supposed to. [SPEAKER_02]: I love it. [SPEAKER_02]: What makes me say? [SPEAKER_02]: Because you try it. [SPEAKER_02]: The goal is to win.

[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but the point is for me, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So all year long. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been anti-Chicago, right, believe it. [SPEAKER_01]: Same thing with Indiana. [SPEAKER_01]: I need to see you need to see it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you finally get to a point where it's like, all right, I think I, it's safe to believe in the bears.

[SPEAKER_01]: I would be going against everything that I believed in the ram to better all you would. [SPEAKER_01]: No, you would, you would be seeing the light. [SPEAKER_01]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: No, well, well, maybe, maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the case of Indiana, it was seen the light because they smoked Oregon. [SPEAKER_01]: You would not just... [SPEAKER_01]: the other way you're just being stubborn and stupid.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, or, or sticking to your core beliefs and at least getting beat based off of like when you switch like that, going against something you believed all year long, was you rather lose by switching or lose with sticking to what you believed that, and just you don't have to tip your cat. [SPEAKER_02]: I would want to get it right. [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't matter what they did all year long. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd want to get that game all year.

[SPEAKER_02]: Everything you'd better all year has nothing to do with Sunday night's Ram Spares game. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all but if you believe, if you believe like I did, did not believe in Chicago. [SPEAKER_01]: Why all of a sudden, what I believe in them now when they're 4.00 $1. [SPEAKER_02]: Because they keep winning every game. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but I don't understand the thought of that. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean that they're going to win.

[SPEAKER_01]: They should have lost to the Packers. [SPEAKER_01]: Who's the better team? [SPEAKER_01]: The Rams are bears. [SPEAKER_01]: Who's the better team? [SPEAKER_02]: But the way they won that game was how they went every game. [SPEAKER_02]: Every game they get down and then they make a crazy comeback. [SPEAKER_02]: So at some point you have to say to yourself, okay, this is what this team does. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Or, or you say, it's not going to happen again.

[SPEAKER_01]: And you, you stick to what you believe in. [SPEAKER_01]: I just love that thought process because they've been burned before where I go against my core belief. [SPEAKER_01]: And then it's like, see, I should have stuck with that. [SPEAKER_01]: A new Chicago wasn't as good. [SPEAKER_01]: Let me stick with the Rams. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know which way I'm going with this game yet. [SPEAKER_01]: because because of that, but when I first saw the line, I could not believe what it was.

[SPEAKER_01]: So that would mean obviously we're probably taking the point. [SPEAKER_02]: I hate that theory. [SPEAKER_02]: Good thing we don't talk about sports on this podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: Why? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't just make no sense. [SPEAKER_02]: You've got it. [SPEAKER_02]: You're trying to win one individual game. [SPEAKER_02]: So do you think Matthew? [SPEAKER_02]: Like I saw a stat Matthew staffer terrible and cold weather like one in nine this and that.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that has nothing to do with all the other bears games. [SPEAKER_02]: You bet like what what the bears did in week, whatever, five against whoever the dolphins like has nothing to do with it's not about what you [SPEAKER_01]: But it's about your beliefs, what you believe in and at what point do you change that? [SPEAKER_01]: And if you do change it and then you get burned by it, that's the point where you weren't there to enjoy the benefits.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why show up for the funeral? [SPEAKER_01]: Beliefs. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, this isn't, but that's about religion. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about betting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so how did you do overall what do we let me start with this? [SPEAKER_02]: What did you bet in the Indiana Oregon game? [SPEAKER_01]: I did not end up betting it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, because I okay, because because I was twisted in that I I believed in Indiana I finally turned the corner in Indiana and then a part of me was second guessing it's saying like I don't know now Now it would be fitting where I finally back in the Anna to Oregon small [SPEAKER_02]: I think it shows a sign of maturity intelligence. [SPEAKER_02]: If you would have said on Friday night, you know what? [SPEAKER_02]: I was wrong about in the annual year.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let me turn the corner and bet them. [SPEAKER_02]: And then you watch them bludgeon this team 40. [SPEAKER_02]: Correct. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: That would have been the worst place. [SPEAKER_02]: Here's the thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Beliefs don't matter. [SPEAKER_02]: Systems don't matter. [SPEAKER_02]: Patterns don't matter. [SPEAKER_02]: Nothing matters. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, is a perfect example of nothing matters.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just you're going to win flukes, you're going to lose flukes, you're going to get hot, you're going to get cold, and you know, you could dog set this a couple of weeks ago. [SPEAKER_02]: You could have a game right for 58 minutes. [SPEAKER_02]: and then loose and we took we texted about this all weekend, especially now in this NFL where nobody kicks a field goal, everybody goes for it on four downs and the misdexter points has completely retavic on betting.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like you when I were texting that you could argue the Panthers and Packers both should have won those games, but obviously it didn't see for me though, it's not [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there is no guarantee you can think this and analyze it all those different ways, but when you know that there's a chance you're going to lose, sometimes for me, I'd rather go down with what I believe in longer than turning the corner.

[SPEAKER_01]: Again, it depends on the situation, but I would feel, okay, you don't want to tip my cat, the bear's just beat me, I was wrong about them. [SPEAKER_01]: as opposed to jumping in on them now and having them get smoked by 21 points and then kicking myself being like you knew better because you believed in in the right. [SPEAKER_02]: I just don't look at it as put on quote jumping in. [SPEAKER_02]: I look at it like do you think they can cover four points against the Ramses?

[SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't do jumping in, but that's it. [SPEAKER_02]: Even though you're wrong about that, I owe you a huge thank you because you have put me on to the WWE Vault YouTube channel. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, let me let me say two things about this. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll start with this. [SPEAKER_02]: So sound texted me like a week ago, maybe it was two weeks ago, about [SPEAKER_02]: What was the video you texted me about on the WWE?

[SPEAKER_01]: It was like behind the scenes like golden era, right? [SPEAKER_02]: And since then, I don't know, like what's going on, but this channel, they keep adding like a bunch of it, like they must, something that's probably new. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's new right in the last year or so. [SPEAKER_02]: But they have, there is, [SPEAKER_02]: The, the Jesse Ventura one is phenomenal. [SPEAKER_02]: And the rowdy, rowdy, pipe or one is outstanding. [SPEAKER_02]: But you say that's four hours.

[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't watch the whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Not the whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: I scroll through. [SPEAKER_02]: You got, yeah, you got it. [SPEAKER_02]: You can't. [SPEAKER_02]: Who can watch the whole thing? [SPEAKER_01]: I did the mega powers one. [SPEAKER_01]: Did I tell you that? [SPEAKER_01]: No, but I have to watch that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just great because it has an consequential order of all the big events how they came together.

[SPEAKER_01]: I got to check the pipe I went out to. [SPEAKER_01]: The Ventura One was only 15 minutes, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was good. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was good. [SPEAKER_01]: The one we were talking about was the Mr. [SPEAKER_01]: Perfect trying to get the bullseye on the dart like it was to Andre the giant shooting a commercial mean gene behind the scenes unfiltered on cut. [SPEAKER_01]: It does not get better than that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the channels great.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you're an old school wrestling fan cannot recommend it enough. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you see the scene yet? [SPEAKER_01]: See that image on this? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't, I haven't had a chance to watch that yet. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize he was a legit sports fan like that. [SPEAKER_02]: And then I got to give a shout out to this guy who I sent it to, I sent it to Sal.

[SPEAKER_02]: Again, if you're, so back in like 2017, 2018, when the podcast, something to wrestle with came out with Conrad Thompson and Bruce Pritchard before Bruce Pritchard went back to WWE. [SPEAKER_02]: If you're wrestling fan, you understand all this. [SPEAKER_02]: If not, you can sign off, leave the review and I appreciate it.

[SPEAKER_02]: that was like the greatest podcast of all time, like that podcast was like you consumed it, it was every week, you couldn't wait for it all four hours of it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was like three, four hour podcasts. [SPEAKER_02]: There is a guy on TikTok. [SPEAKER_02]: The TikTok account is.

[SPEAKER_02]: Elite Wrestling Conversation, but it leads to spelled EL EETS, Elite Wrestling Conversation, Elite, not spelled the right way, EL EETS, and it's a guy who does the greatest Conrad Thompson impersonation you will ever hear, and if you were ever as something to wrestle with fan, you have to check this guy out on TikTok, so I had to mention that. [SPEAKER_01]: This was great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I set it to Sal, he and Jimmy up. [SPEAKER_01]: Bruce chat me up about that.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, it was Bruce pressured. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so good. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so good. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, anything else, Sal would have what anything from the week did you watch anything? [SPEAKER_02]: You have anything to share, anything to share? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I did watch a lot of stuff, but no, I'm in football mode, I'm excited. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the best weekends for me. [SPEAKER_01]: Last weekend was great.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is the best weekend, because you get the prime games for all four of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're, what's the best weekend? [SPEAKER_01]: Last weekend or this weekend? [SPEAKER_01]: This weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: These are the, for my money, the two best weekends in sports. [SPEAKER_01]: The third would be playoff baseball weekend with NFL, but that, you wanna have fourth somewhere in there, one of the NCAA opening NCAA tournament, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

[SPEAKER_01]: For me, these two are the best. [SPEAKER_01]: Division around, wild guard round. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't get much better than that. [SPEAKER_02]: I get very, very depressed these two weekends because it's over, like I feel like it's going to be over very soon. [SPEAKER_02]: You get like on Tuesday when I woke up in a good mood after my seven and one run. [SPEAKER_02]: I quickly got depressed because then I'm like, there's not a football game now until Saturday at 430.

[SPEAKER_02]: Everything peels off. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and let me say one of the things we haven't even mentioned it. [SPEAKER_02]: college football has to fix their schedule. [SPEAKER_02]: They have to fit. [SPEAKER_02]: That championship game being played Monday night like has zero juice. [SPEAKER_02]: Nobody talks about it. [SPEAKER_02]: There's no hype for it because it's being played after the NFL. [SPEAKER_02]: Like Salge said, that's the best.

[SPEAKER_02]: This coming up this weekend coming up for it playoff games in the NFL. [SPEAKER_02]: The college football game gets zero attention. [SPEAKER_02]: That game needs to be played so much earlier. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not even funny. [SPEAKER_02]: What would you do this Friday? [SPEAKER_02]: When would you play it? [SPEAKER_02]: They got to redo the whole schedule. [SPEAKER_02]: The entire schedule needs to be.

[SPEAKER_02]: I would listen, if it had to be played now, if you tell me it has to be played now, I would absolutely 1 million percent played on Friday as a lead-in to the divisional round. [SPEAKER_01]: But kind of like, I liked it. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't mind it last week. [SPEAKER_01]: Boom right into the NFL like that was pretty sick four days like a good five days. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a good lead in but yes I just want I just want to remind you yeah come Sunday at like nine 30-ish.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: No money right only two only three games left let no more Saturday football games. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no Thursdays, that's it. [SPEAKER_02]: It's invigorating and exciting and depressing all at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, what are you going to do with all your free time on the weekends now? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, listen, it'll be nice to get some time back.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, you know, that lasts for a few weekends and then you're like, where's the football? [SPEAKER_02]: But it's good, you know, now I'll have a break from bedding. [SPEAKER_02]: See, I also, I, I, I mentioned this to you, too. [SPEAKER_02]: For me, like the whole thing about 7 and 1, I do much better when there's a limited menu.

[SPEAKER_02]: like week eight of the let's say let's take whatever a random week the third weekend in October where I have 5,000 college football games on Saturday and then the 15 NFL games on Sunday there's too much for me to bet and that's where I get in trouble. [SPEAKER_02]: When I can laser focus on one and then when I don't bet teasers in parlay, first touchdown bullshed in this nonsense, [SPEAKER_02]: just bet the game over on the road to other side.

[SPEAKER_02]: One game I do much better. [SPEAKER_02]: It's when the buffet is what kills me. [SPEAKER_01]: You nailed it. [SPEAKER_01]: And this weekend, I was like, because I dove back in, I've been kind of laying out a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I'd, you know, it's the playoffs. [SPEAKER_01]: Come on, you have to put a little in there. [SPEAKER_01]: So then I started with the, okay, anytime touchdown or over your age or whatever.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then I lost on Saturday and I was like, you know what, what am I doing? [SPEAKER_01]: I love the bills today. [SPEAKER_01]: Just bet the [SPEAKER_01]: Boom, one. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the next game with the nine or same thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: You should. [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll do the same thing with the props this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: I got buddies coming over wherever we get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a fun bet.

[SPEAKER_01]: But if you're trying to win, stop digging around with all the 18 legs of something that needs to happen. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't get into it because I feel like it's like peer pressure like someone will say to me, oh, this is a good first touch on bed. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, this, you know, this guy is his yardage is this. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, I don't, don't, it's like, don't provide the drug addict with the drugs.

[SPEAKER_02]: Don't, don't, don't, just let me bet the game one side and I'll be fine. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's it. [SPEAKER_02]: All right. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, so enjoy the games. [SPEAKER_02]: It's almost over to sit, but you enjoy Saturday and Sunday and we'll talk to you next week. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, talk to you later. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, take it easy.
