Thanks for tuning in to another episode of Show Joe where we begin a new season of our first actual show Joe series, Kimi Nii Tadoke. And I'm excited to hear Joe's thought fun. The transitions from the first season to the second and tone. Season two. How much time was there in between the season one and season two? Like passage of time within the show? No, production wise. Oh, I don't know. I'm going to look that up.
Okay. Because I wonder how long the audience was waiting in between those two things. Yeah. Because I feel like if you waited at the end of season one and then watch the first episode of season two, you may not be having the best time of all time. Oh, I just swatched it back to back and I'm like, damn. No, I know. I'm trying to see. Okay. So season one ended the last air of episode 25 was March 30, 2010. And then season two originally aired July, January 5, 2021.
So you have like, it's like nine months. 2021. I'm sorry, 2011. Okay. I was like, okay. Okay. That's not too bad. That's pretty. Okay. No, that's not that's not that bad. All right. All right. I just, you know, yeah, this between season two and season three is going to be enormous. Oh, man. I know, right? It'll be interesting to see over a decade. That's crazy. It is wild. But that's all the rage these days.
And yes, before we pop into the recap of season two episodes zero through three, we'll catch up. I feel like I don't have much to say about what I've been up to. I finished putting my posters up and so that's fully moved in now. And yeah. How does it feel? Good. I got a new, well, okay. So did I tell you I'm taking, I think I mentioned this.
I am taking my brother's old mattress, so I'm going to have a twin XL size bed with like adjustable base and then I just figured if anyone else wants to sleep over, they can buy their own bed and make it a split king. Wow. Okay. There's a toll to pay. Yeah. A toll. Yeah. But I got prioritized my sleep because it's just been terrible. Oh, that's good. Yeah. So I'll have a fancy bed and a just little base so I can like hopefully encourage myself to sleep on my back more, which is better. Uh-huh.
Yeah. So that's, you know, you're at the age where speaking in new mattress is exciting. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I should probably get a new mattress, but I am not going to. You should. Yeah. Well, how old is yours? What is it? You're supposed to... Uh, I got it in the grad school at some point. So it's probably like six years or seven years or something. Okay. Well, then that means it's time to get a new mattress. You're only supposed to have them up to eight years. Uh, is that true?
Yeah. I don't know if that's true or not. That's true. It's like the growing up, we had the same mattresses like fucking forever. Well, that's because your parents are trying to save a buck and they don't give a damn about the kids. Wow. All right. I guess I'll think about it. Yeah. Freakin' do it. I'm assuming that mattress is just as old school as the rest of your place. Uh, so it doesn't have any of the bells and whistles. I bought it new.
Okay. Just because I inherited a bunch of furniture from my dead relatives does not mean the mattress is one of those things. It's okay. Um, and yeah, so I've been watching, I've been staying up today on House of Dragons and the Acolyte and... I watched episode five of that. Yeah. I watched episode five of the Acolyte. How do you feel? Not what I thought was going to happen. No. I was just running the body count up a lot, I guess. That's for real. I know. Don't kill the hot guy. Spoiler alert.
Spoilers for Acolyte. A lot of people suddenly die in episode five and you're like, okay, I guess I don't know what this show is going to be. I know. Disney. Getting to it. I don't know if it's good. I don't think this is good though. I don't think it was a good thing to happen for the show. No. I mean, no. It seems like a bad call. I can kill off the Rando NPC Jedi, but not the core. They also went down with Losers. The Catholics on the cover. It was not a great fight for them.
Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It's not really... I don't know that I like the protagonists. No. This is the problem is that they off a bunch of characters that I was more interested in and the main... I mean, the guy who plays Soul is great. Yeah. The guy is basically carrying the whole show for me at this point. Yep. Yep. I mean, the villain's also hot and that's nice. He is hot. He does not get much to do. He has not gotten that much screen time. But otherwise, it's very...
Like a whatever kind of plot. You know what I mean? Yes. But it's fine. It's better than Kenobi, which was terrible. So I guess, you know... Why can't they just do... It's a red fire. Why can't they be good? There's so much Star Wars potential. Why can't they hit it? Apparently, all of the good stuff is in the animated stuff, which I haven't been able to watch yet because I'm watching Rebels, which is still pretty good. Sorry, I need me to cut you off. Keep going.
No. Watching Love Island, obviously. Freaking. Season 6 of Love Island USA, maybe one of the best seasons of all time for Love Island. It's so freaking good. What makes it better? The drama. There's so much drama. Like not dumb boys. Like not dumb boring, petty or boring. I'm just going to get pissy over a minor thing. It's like for real stuff. Dramatic, unlikable, but interesting cast members. Let's see. I haven't really been gaming. I did.
So my mom moved recently and her neighbor has a litter of Australian shepherd puppies. So I got to play with those. Okay. Fourth of July. And I don't think Australian Shepherd is the dog for me. That's too smart. Those dogs get excited. Too smart. Yeah. I need a dumb dog that's just happy. Yeah. So, but I was like, if I wanted this kind of dog, I would have probably gotten it, but I don't. But does that mean maybe I can at least open my mind to if I do see a dog? I like, I don't know.
I've ruined my life. I'll say no, Sarah. God damn it. You only have a dog cat. But nothing brings me happiness like, you know, a new pet. Because I don't think I am very well, like even on Christmas opening presents. I'm like, oh, yeah. I mean, like I like it, but I don't amote my outwardly express. Yeah. But like getting either a new game that I've been waiting forever to get or getting a new pet is like pure joy. Like freaking, I'll, you know, jump up and down kind of. So we'll see.
I definitely want whenever I do get a new dog. I want to get a shelter dog. I already know it's temperament and it's already potty trained. And yeah. Yeah. That's what I've been up to. Have a you Joe? What's what you're doing over there? I'm just going to say, last weekend I did a 24 hour birthday stream. Yeah. I was able to pop in briefly. Yeah. That was nice. Oh wait. Sorry. One, one other thing that happens. That's kind of major is my sister got engaged. So yeah.
Everyone say congrats to Caitlin. Yeah. Congratulations. Yes. We like the fiance. So that's good. That's good. Yeah. If I did it, she would know. The segment of the podcast where we do an intervention to one person only. But yeah. Sorry. I was like, I don't know why that escaped my mind. But yeah, that was the thing that happened. Carry on Joe. Yeah. I did 24 hours stream, played some, played some games. It was a good time. There are vods on my. Twitch. If you want to see them for how long.
I think for, if you're not affiliate, they only see it. For a week. So I downloaded them. I downloaded there. Maybe I downloaded them. I'm going to try to edit them and post them somewhere like. Spend it up by game or something. Yeah. On Instagram. Post them on Instagram. You're mafia. 24 hours. I'm saying if you clip it to short things. Oh yeah. I don't know if I'm going to put in that much effort. Okay. We'll see. I guess I should have a YouTube channel. I don't know.
I might actually because I have a Gmail account for it. So anyway, I'll figure out what to do with that. Streaming is fun. We should stream sometime. We should. Oh, I bought. I think I got don't starve together on the summer sale. Have you played that? Maybe play that together. Yeah, I do. Yeah, you can play that. That's something. I've played it before I could like never figured out really. I just know that I'm like. Pairing away. That's something's going to get me.
Yeah. That does also that game where stuff gets you. Yeah. But yeah, so I played and you know, playing games with that. That's been pretty good. I've also been watching some anime. I watched the second and third Pat Labor movies. And they were both not very good. So I learned that. So I learned that Pat Labor is like a franchise first.
Like it was it was created because I thought it was a manga adaptation, but it's actually just a franchise and they made the manga and the original OVA at the same time, which is weird. But also that means that like. It's not about the characters. It's just about the world. So like the third movie just doesn't have any of the characters I'm familiar with in it. Like at all. They're in it like as cameos or something. It's really weird.
Yeah. So like the third one is just like a big monster movie more or less, but it's really kind of slow. Like there's some good stuff in it, but it's just kind of boring. And especially when I was like kind of expecting it to be more about the characters I know, and they just weren't in it. I was like, oh, OK. That's interesting. So yeah, not that great. The second one is like a political thriller more than anything about like the military.
There's like a sect in the military of like the Japanese military that like wants to. If there was some extra awareness of like the American hegemony across there. There's like some yeah, there's like some politics going on about stuff that's like, hey, did you know that like the Japanese military is just kind of an extension of the U.S. military because of occupation and blah, blah, blah. And it's like, all right, it's kind of interesting.
It's like not as interesting as I want it to be because all of this stuff is like. Stuff that is I already know. You know what I mean? Like it's not like this is not revelatory in terms of like I'm learning stuff about politics here because I kind of already do this stuff. So it's just kind of like a lot of people talking about stuff, a lot of abstract things. And then like the core emotional part of like, oh, well, the bad guy was somebody that the like police officer chick.
I don't remember her name, but she's like the other commander used to date. What's going on with that? And it's just like it's it's really nothing. It feels really like not undercooked in terms of like this is not that emotionally compelling. This is not that like high level interesting kind of feels like a. Like. Shoot. What's the like a boring like Jack Reacher plot kind of except you don't have Jack Reacher just doing cool shit. So yeah, it was not very good either.
There's a Mech Fight at the end of it. It's not as good as the Mech Fight in Pat Labor one. It was just kind of disappointing. They're not even very good. But you watched them all the way. I watched them all the way. So I've watched all the Pat Labor movies. So I'm done with Pat Labor unless I want to watch the TV show, which I don't know. Maybe it seems like the TV show is more of like hang out with all your friends.
So maybe I would like that more, but it's also like 50 episodes and I don't know if I have it in me. I'm still watching. Gundam G fighter. Good Lord. And that one is. It feels excruciating to watch some time. So. Oh my God. Oh dear. Yeah. So the Mechs are a bad Mech week for me. Well. Why can't Mechs just not have politics? Why can't it just be like a world. Where everybody just has mechs and there's destruction constantly.
And. Well, like they end up being about politics because like Mechs are like a tool of war. So it had their always kind of like war adjacent stories, right? So it's like, well, there has to be politics and war. And that's kind of why that happens. I feel like, I mean, I guess there's some shows that like, what's the, those feel like a Mechs show that's like race or something. And it's just about racing. Like that came when I told them or something. I don't know. I don't know. But yeah, like.
See Tuna. Me is back. It's back. Was it gone? Well, it wasn't on like television. Tuna. They like brought it back and they're playing all the old hits that they used to play. That's cool. Yeah. There's like, I wish I could like watch that. Is there like a way I could watch that? Probably. They even have the little dude back. Yeah. They got Tom. Yeah. Yeah. Like I want to. It's like, you know, it's like a huge part of getting me here to having an anime podcast.
And it sucks that it's like, I don't have cable. So I can't watch it because why would I have cable in 2024? I only have cable because it was forced upon me by my apartment complex. It's part of the plan. Um. Sorry. I just, I just derailed your thing. No, I mean, that was it. That's like what I've been watching. I guess. No, I already talked about the other stuff I was watching. I was actually like, some what and watch the. Some other stuff. I don't know.
I feel like I just have a big laundry list of stuff to watch. I've been reading. I'm like two chapters till the end of a Wizard of Earth sea, which turns out is actually extremely cool. Okay. Do you ever see the green night? No, that's like the car one, right? There's like a car. What? I'm thinking of like the green hornet, I think. Uh, no. Yeah. Um, the green night is a, it's a movie 2021. Uh, oh my, uh, tell us in it.
My, um, stepdad for fathers, they wanted to make everyone watch it, but I was like, I'm tired. I'm going to bed. So I had the opportunity. I just did it. It's a very cool movie. It's like a. A creator, like a, like a adaptation of. The green night, which is like a King Arthur story. Yeah. The next of the round table story or whatever. And it's like shot in this really cool way where it's like, it feels like one of those epic kind of things. And I want them to make that type of movie.
That's an adaptation of a Wizard of Earth sea. Cause that would fucking kick ass. Cause it is very much like, it feels like that. Cause the, the city of jelly one did not hit. I am so fascinated to, cause I watched that before, right? Cause there was a time when I watched all the studio, Jilly movies. Um, and then for this podcast, they're like, oh, we're going to read all the books I've ever seen. I'm like, oh, okay. Like I, that's going to be interesting.
Cause all I know is that Jilly movie was just terrible. Um, because it just doesn't make a lot of sense. And so I am fast. I don't think I've gotten to like the book that, that show or like that movie is actually adapting. Cause it's like a, it's like a series of, of like novels or I just like six novels or something. So I think it's probably like the third one or something.
So I'm really interested to read that and figure out what the hell was actually going on in the story and why the movie was adapted like that. So that'll be interesting whenever I get there. Yeah. Nice. Uh, any new thing, content you're looking forward to. I know we discussed that the, what magical nights, Ray is being remade TBD on when that's actually happening, but we'll definitely cover it for the podcast. I think cause that's like a classic. We love clamp. I love clamp.
I mean, yeah, we got angelic layer. We'll cover a few others. Um, but I, they announced. Yeah, which hat atelier anime in 2025. I think I'm reading, but really slowly I got volume too. I haven't read it yet. So would you say that you, if you've bought, you like only read by purchasing certain, cause that's how I am.
Like with my skip beat series, I could read like shitty translated versions online, but I'm like waiting so patiently these, all these years to just read it as the volumes come out here. Are you asking me if that's how I read? Well, I know you don't for everything, but is that how you're doing it for that series? Are you bar your bread? All for that series. Yeah. So like I buy, I will buy physical copies of manga or comics. If I think the. Having a physical copy is like worth it.
Like most of stuff I've read, like I'll read stuff through like the shonen jump app or whatever, which I was like the last three chapters or so like. I read ability. Yeah. Or if it's like, oh, I'm going to read all of, like I decided I was going to read all of bleach and I'm like, okay, well, you can just buy a subscription for like not that much money. And then I got caught up on a bunch of those. So I follow along a lot of those.
Now I don't have a subscription, but I'll buy a subscription to stuff. If I feel like I have a passing interest or I just want to get caught up on a thing. But I will buy physical copies. If I feel like having the actual artwork of the thing is like really useful. So I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just like, I'm just doing everything. So I'm doing it for which had a layer because the art is really cool.
And I feel like I want a physical copy of that. Yeah. But for the most part, I kind of don't want to buy a bunch of books because I don't have a like very much bookshelf space because I do buy actual books. Also. Yeah. Because I don't really like reading ebooks. But I don't have that problem with like comics. Yeah. Well, it's nice to scroll. Yeah. forward to I never thought I'd say it a Lego game. They're making a horizon like Zero Dawn or Forbidden West.
They're making a Lego game of that, of which you could play along with me as one of Aloy's friends. Because like I'm just I don't have this. I don't have attachments to Legos and normally, right, they're just recreations of stuff that I'm not especially interested in. But I have watched people play and the little stacking sound of like assembling things in that game is so good. Yeah, I love games are fun. So I definitely want to get that whenever the heck that's happening.
Dragon Age, Veil Guard. Let's see. Announce a bunch of stuff you want. Um, I guess this is like a time when they announce a bunch of stuff like Nintendo had a bunch of stuff they announced. Yeah, none of the things on Nintendo really. Not even the Zelda game where you get to play a final game. Well, I don't like the art style. Well, you don't like our style. No. It's like Link Between Worlds art style. Well, I've never played.
Well, I've only played Zelda on like a Nintendo 64 blockbuster rental where you start a house that's the only and then I tried to play Link was a was the breath of the wild. And I was like, uh, no. I don't know. I don't know what else I'm looking forward to. I have to think. Um. But yeah. That's I guess it's all. On that, if we want to get started on. That was the episodes. The pressing season two. Depressing. Depressing. Bummer. Bummer. Bummer. Kind of a doubter.
I mean, yeah, I like you could just like episode one is just Sawakor taking a huge L. I thought you were going to be like, damn, guys, like we just had all this progress made now it's just totally all gone. I'm a little bit like that, but there is some stuff I've actually have a pretty different take on this than that. But yes, well, the new opening and ending songs. They're nice. I didn't watch the ending. So no one's lovely. I mean, all the opening.
This are good. OK. OK, but I'm going to start with zero. Yeah, let's hear it. I didn't take notes for it because it pretty much is just like all of what we just, you know, Karumi kind of goes through the Karumi arc specifically. Yeah. But we do get some added scenes. So there is like the framing of it is she is walking around in the winter. To kind of like add like a coffee shop or whatever.
And yeah, reminiscing and like then she's outside and she picks up a present out of the snow and then puts it on a railing. I don't know what's up with that. But yes, we get a couple of new scenes in that that's pretty fun. Like there's the part when she is remembering the bit where Salako calls her Ume and she's like, she's like, I'm adding you to my journal of idiot to call me Ume and they add a scene where she's writing Salako's name on a notebook like it's a death note. That was pretty good.
So there's like a couple of new added animation scenes that are like funny. But for the most part, it's just like it's just like a rehash and it ends with Karumi stopping at a. Like a bit like a bakery or like a chocolate shop or something and being like, I am going to get like a I'm going to buy chocolates for Kazahaya for Valentine's Day because the next episode is called Valentine's Day. So she does that and that kind of leads into the next episode. Yeah. OK.
But we get some good Karumi content. Love that. Love seeing Karumi. I just like I couldn't help but notice the sign now that I'm like seeing her a lot. What's going on with her hair? She like knots it on the side. It's like a it's a partial like a sign kind of fun. Yeah. How do you do it there, though? Like how does it stay? Taunt Bobby. Because it's not like high on her head. It's like low on her shoulder. Yeah. No, probably a bobby pin thing. Hmm. Complicated. It seems complicated.
Well, did you watch this? Do you have any thoughts about it? I don't watch it. I only just watched the episode this morning. Right up until we started recording. OK. So I did not have time to watch that one. Yeah, it was good. It's cute. You don't have to watch it if you didn't watch it. You don't you didn't really miss out on anything, but you know, fun. Well, anyway, let's see. Season two, episode one, which is also episode 26 of Community to OK is called Valentine's Day. We get a new opening.
I have some notes about this new opening. First off, like they show, you know, it's like Saoko doing stuff. And there's like a slide show of all the other characters together. Columny, Karumi, it's a slide and she's also first. So that's great. And it's just her by herself. And then we get a slide of Shizu and Ryu together. That's cute. And then we get a fucking slide of Ioni and Pinn together on the same slide. And I'm mad about it. I'm mad about it. This is bad. Yeah, we have it's bad.
Why is this happening? I know he's insufferable, gross, get him away from our number one character, Ioni. And then I have a note that we get a slide of a random blonde guy who we're going to learn about in these next three episodes. And then like some other stuff. But yep, so just made by this opening, instantly set the mood as very bad for me. Anyway, OK, Valentine's Day. Saoko is cooking asparagus wrapped in bacon, which actually looks pretty good, even though I think that's kind of weird.
I don't know, like a jalapeno popper, but with asparagus. Yeah, but with asparagus, which is like a like a stringy kind of like you bite. I mean, I guess they're small enough that it's just one bite. Yeah, it's also all just the tips of it. So it's like, what are you doing with the stock? I guess that part's tougher. So the tip is softer and easier to chew. Hmm. I don't know. Anyway, delicious. Yeah, it's probably good. I don't know. I mean, I guess like is she like sauteing it or something?
Like you got to. Yeah, because I'm assuming the bacon was already cooked. And yeah, well, yeah. Around it. Yeah. OK, I guess it's fine. Saoko tells us that it's January now and the seating arrangement is new. She sits in the front left of the class and has new neighbors now. The one who sits behind here is a girl named Takahashi. And she like tries to make her laugh by tickling her because of that. Like, like, oh, if you can make it. I say whatever. And to her left is a guy named Yagi.
He's not important. So who cares? Let's see. The boys talk about how Saoko is very social now. So I guess Kazehaya's charity case is over, which is like a really mean thing to say. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. But Kazehaya does not say anything to this. And it just zones out looking at Saoko. Yeah. So I don't know what's up with that. Saoko comments that the new seating arrangement makes it so that Kazehaya has seemed more distant. Then there was a time skip and it's Valentine's Day coming up.
So like, we've skipped a whole month. Ioni asks the girls if they're going to give chocolates to anyone. And Chizu says she's going to give some to Ryu. And Ioni amuses that this is her chance to like do some bribery. This is should we explain how Valentine's Day in Japan works? OK, so Valentine's Day traditionally, it is only girls give out chocolate on Valentine's Day. And typically there's either like, thanks for being a friend or like I respect you kind of like thank you.
Not. Yeah. Nonromantic Valentine's Chocolate. And then there is like typically more romantic use for confessions. And typically those are handmade because you can either just buy chocolate or handmade it, but I think typically it's like of more significance if you make it by hand. So a lot of people will use this as their way to express their affection for someone and use it as a confession or, you know.
And then there's always like the guy who gets like a bajillion chocolates in his shoe locker kind of, you know, you open it and then like a whole pile comes out because some will give it. It's like a non-nominously. Yeah. Yeah. Or like a note saying, meet me on the roof at five o'clock. Yeah, stuff like that. And then and then there is a month later, a holiday called White Day in which boys who receive Valentine's Chocolate can return the gesture with a gift of their own.
I guess typically just a girl they're interested in. I don't remember because it's not like they give chocolate back. It's like any gift, I guess, can be the White Day gift. But I mean, right, because if you get like a ton of chocolate from different people, you don't have to give like. Harder to give. It's not as compulsory as my understanding. So it's like a way to return feelings kind of. But so yeah, we should be expecting that in the future.
Yeah, that does not happen in those three episodes, but we should be expecting that. We do get some more time skits, though. And we do. It's really confusing. Like there's a new seeding chart in this month. Although I don't understand how the school year works there. That's what I'm saying, because she's like, oh, we have a new seeding chart. And then next episode, they get an even newer seeding chart. So it's like, what's happening? Now, so just and there's some more as now.
Somehow I don't know. When does the school year start? Because it's like the new year. So I figured like, oh, it probably starts with the new calendar month, right? Or like calendar year, but no, it does not. Or it doesn't start with like a march or something. It doesn't start with a break between either. It's weird. Yeah, I don't know. It's really weird. I don't understand what's going on here. Strange. Anyway, Westoners. Yeah, but like this is not. I haven't seen this in other anime.
I feel like I watched other anime where they go through the school year and it isn't this complicated. I think they just don't show it. I guess whatever. I don't know. It's weird. Whatever. Maybe Hokkaido just does it differently because of the fucking country bumpkins. We cut to Sawako making chocolate. She's made little bags of chocolates for Iane, Chizu, Ryu, Kazaihaya, Tomo, Ekko and her dad because. Ion is like, oh, you guys are probably making it for your parents, right?
She's like, oh, shoot, I guess I should do that. She starts to write a card for Kazaihaya, but decides that she's not going to write cards because she gets embarrassed writing his name down. Then she realizes that the bag she made for him has more like special chocolates with like little toppings on them. And she gets embarrassed for like favoring him. The one she's making, they kind of look like little like Reese's Cups, more or less, but they have like topping stuff on it.
And I don't think they're like obviously they're not like peanut butter filled or whatever, but they look like that. Which means she wraps them, which seems like a really like intricate thing. How do you wrap them like that? You it's like making cupcakes where you pour the chocolate into the foil and then like a mold. Yeah, yeah. But you buy like a mold that is like because they're like the same size as Reese's. They're like pretty small. I'm assuming you just buy the little wrappers.
You pour the chocolate into it individually. And I guess it's not enough to like fill out the wrapping. And I guess. Well, there's nothing like it doesn't like lift. Letify is like chocolate. She probably like freezes it. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. They make chocolate manually, but like I don't really know what that means. Well, because I don't like, I don't know, whatever. Oh, yeah.
I think you just buy like barebones chocolate and then add additional stuff to make it sweeter and in whatever shape you want or. Yeah, this is pretty standard in anime where it's like now we're going to all make chocolate. And it's like, I don't understand what that means. I know we're so lazy here. They melt chocolate. But like, what does that mean to make it? Because like it's not. It's like. You just reforming already existing.
Yeah, because it's like you buy bakers chocolate or whatever like already prefabricated. Because you're not going to make it by hand because that's like doing chemical stuff. You know what I mean? Like that is not a normal thing to do. And then you add this sugar. I don't know. It's like a whole process. I'm assuming it's like the. You know, Betty Crocker add an egg to make a cake kind of thing. You know what I mean? Yeah. Anyway. It's the next day.
Saloko sees cause I hire like stash a chocolate gift box that he got in his like shoe box or whatever into his jacket that he received from someone else. And she's so taken aback that she doesn't get a chance to give his gift or give him his chocolate. Chocolate's. Then in class, Saloko gives the girls chocolates, including Takahashi for some reason, even though she didn't mention that she made her some.
Saloko is embarrassed to give cause I hire chocolate and rushes to the bathroom instead of doing that. We get a really like detailed 3D render of a bathroom stall for some reason in this next scene. And I was like, all right, well, that's an interesting thing. Saloko is in the stall and she's freaking out and over analyzing everything. Back in class, Ryu is eating the chocolate that Saloko gave him. Cause I hire Asson for one and a surprise by how good it is.
And then he's like, where did you get this? And Ryu is like, oh, Cheezoo, like pass it on to me. They're from Saloko as like a thank you gift. Also, Cheezoo got him like one tiny chocolate thing. So real minimum effort in there. Yeah, I love it. It's so Cheezoo. So Cheezoo. But cause I has not received anything from Saloko. So he is just made. He walks past Takahashi and notices that she also has one of Saloko's things that she's like, what, you want one?
Here you go, you helpless little man, which is incredibly funny for her to say. One of cause I hire's friends tells him that a girl is here to give him chocolate as like a confession and cause I hire is like great. Yeah, Saloko finally walks out of the bathroom, past cause I hire on the stairwell receiving chocolates from a girl who was also confessing to him. She later hears that he rejected her and she locks eyes with him as he enters the classroom.
Saloko thinks about what her chocolates should be meant as towards him. She doesn't plan to confess to him this way, even though she's pretty sure that she likes him enough to like maybe do that at some point. But she's worried that giving him chocolate will be interpreted that way as opposed to the way she originally made it was like a thank you kind of thing, like an appreciation. Yeah. You got to suck to like.
Have someone come like and you know, they're kind of confessing, you know, you're going to reject them and they're freaking homeboys are just watching. Like, oh, so uncomfortable. I have a lot to say about cause I hire and these next couple. Oh, so this is this is good. Class ends and she still hasn't given him the chocolates yet. And IAANNE sees Saloko and mentally chastises her for not giving him the chocolates. She's like, come on.
The boys are about to leave because I hire gets dragged off by pin before they can go home. Saloko thinks that she still might have a chance to give it to him because he has to stay after class with pin. She tells IAANNE and she's you to go home without her. Also in the scene, Joe is obviously like waiting around to see if you'll get chocolate from IAANNE. And that's that's that's it. Oh, gross. I don't know why he would. Yeah, well, he's an idiot.
Yeah, in pins office, pin tells cause I hire that his shoulders are sore and he wants them to massage them. And he threatens to tell everybody embarrassing stories from his childhood if he refuses. Yeah, the little baby has a high. I was really cute. Yeah, I think he's actually aren't that embarrassing of stories to be told. Well, what the bad one is. So what the I mean, I guess, but it's also like you're a kid, like no one cares. You know what I mean?
Well, I feel like you would care about it and up. Well, I feel like cause I hire would care about it because the thing we learned about cause I hire in this episode is that he does not want to. Reveal anything about himself to anybody. He hates opening up more than anything. Yeah, cause I hire agrees and notices that even pin has some chocolates from Salaco for some reason and he gets pissed off and starts like digging into pins shoulder with his elbow. It's pretty good.
But he like tells him a little story. He's pulling one for my eyes. Yeah. There's a bit where cause I hire convinces pin that he's cursed for disrespecting the gods at New Year's. And so pin eats like 10 of Salaco's chocolates with the wrappers on and everything because he's like these will she can hear me here. Fine me. It's pretty good. I wish pin could just not just be normal. Ah, I'm so conflicted about pin.
Salaco is staking out cause I hire as he leaves and starts to follow him like she's in a detective movie. She's about to make her move when he's on the stairwell when none other than Karumi shows up. She has chocolates for him and gives them to him as a quote. Momento, she's like, I know you rejected me. And you know, this is like a one time thing. This will be the first and only time. So like it wouldn't hurt. You should just accept these.
And so cause I hire is like, all right, sure, I'll accept them. Yeah, that's fine. After he leaves, Karumi like keeps walking up the stairs and see Salaco hiding and calls her a peeping Tom. She's like, why do you just stand in here hiding? She notices that Salaco has chocolates and tells her that cause I hide doesn't generally accept confession chocolates from anybody. And Salaco is like, well, what about the chocolates you just gave him?
And Karumi's like, well, that's like an exception because he already rejected me. So that's like different. Karumi asks if those chocolates are for cause I hire and Salaco says that they're just thank you. They're just a thank you gift. Karumi asks that even though Salaco in the past said that she couldn't imagine dating him, is that really true? Are those really just a thank you gift? You don't have any other hidden agenda? Like if they're obligatory, I guess he'll accept them.
But if they're confessional, then like, who knows? She says this and then runs off and thinks on the self that if Salaco can't even overcome this and they'll never work out. God damn it, Karumi. This is this is good, actually. As she is leaving, she runs into the tall blonde guy from the opening and his friend who wears a scarf. He's like, oh, hey, Karumi, I didn't receive any chocolates from you today. And she's like, yeah, what about it? And it just keeps going when she does not give a shit.
No. The scarf guy is like, wow, she really 180 and she used to be nice. And the blonde guy is like, yeah, isn't she way better now? Which is true. Yeah. It's true. He is the right read on that. Although he does kind of seem like a jerk here. They keep walking as they pass by Salaco, who's just kind of standing there at the top of the stairs. The blonde guy starts talking about Salaco to his friend out loud, like four feet away from her and says that even gloomy girls like her
think about giving chocolates. That's interesting. Yeah. We got to cause a high walking out of the school disappointed that he didn't get any chocolates from Salaco. Salaco is still working at her feelings in the hallway. She concludes that she couldn't possibly give them as just a thank you because her feelings are way stronger than that. And in the end, she couldn't give them to him at all. As we cut to credits. Huge, I'll Salaco take a huge episode.
I like earlier when she first ran to the bathroom, feeling conflicted that she's like, well, he's getting so many chocolates already. I don't want him to get too high of a like blood sugar. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's pretty funny. But he's not accepting them. Like, I guess as he's like not taking them is the thing. I mean, he takes the one that's like in his shoebox because he can't give that one back. But it sounds like he just refused to take the other ones. That's what Karumi says anyway.
Well, the confession ones. Oh, yeah, I'm sure there's plenty more unseen in the show. Yeah, good stuff. Well, it's tough. Well, yeah. So what do we think about this? I want to hear your take on this first because I feel like I have a different take. Well, I want to hear yours. So I don't sound like a dummy when you're like, oh, well, actually did it. And I'll be like, what do you think about Karumi in this episode? She's a troll. I kind of I feel like she does have a point, though.
I mean, it's unnecessary, I think. Stop interfering. Yeah. But like. It also is like cause I is going to want to know. I mean, the thing about this situation, right, is that Valentine's Day. Is like a structured point in which you need to. Express your feelings to somebody or like it's kind of expected that you'd express your feelings towards somebody about something.
Right. And so if Sawako was to give him those chocolates and be like, oh, these are just like obligatory or like a thank you or whatever. I don't. I feel like that would be bad. I feel like she's probably right in terms of like, hey, if you do this, he'll he'll accept them. But it's like a diminished meaning. I mean, I think you're kind of admitting defeat a little bit. Because I would feel better about it than getting none. Yeah. Or maybe. She doesn't just say. Or she like kind of elaborate.
And then it opens up the opportunity to get deeper. Yeah. But I mean, like this is I mean, Kirby is basically like giving her a dare, right? Being like, yeah, he always he always like, no, he never accepts these. So if you're going to give them to him as a like confession or like an expression of your feelings, you have to actually believe that you're different. Yeah. And I think that's probably true. And Kirby also tells her. She basically just like, hey, I already got rejected.
So like runways cleared. You know what I mean? She doesn't say that. Oh, yeah. So I feel like she's actually being a little bit nicer here than it seems like just because she's acting really dismissive. She's just trying to. Get so I could think about it more. Yeah, because she I mean, at the end, she's even just like, look, if she can't even do this and like they're fucking doomed. And the answer is, yeah, like at the end of this episode, they're doomed. It's true.
Because Sawako couldn't couldn't bring herself to do it. So frustrating. And so like, I think Karumi is not being nice, but like anti-hero. Yeah, a little anti-hero here. Like I think she is like trying to push and like these all these three episodes are about like, hey, how do you push your friends into being in a relationship they should be into? Well, can someone please push Cause I Haya and not just Sawako. Oh, don't worry. We get a real hero next couple of an unsung hero.
I was not expecting him to be next couple of episodes. Yeah. OK, well, I get to the next one. Episode two of season two. Episode two is called sophomore year. This is also episode 27. Sawako announces that their sophomores now, she looks at her class rank and she's ranked 24. We learned that all the characters are in the same class this year. Also, Tomo and Echo are here this time. And so is that blonde guy and his scarf from the opening. We see them in the background.
Sawako starts to give a creepy greeting to the rest of her classmates, but it saves when Cause I Haya greets her first. Sawako thinks about how she didn't give Cause I Haya a chocolate last episode. It feels bad about it. Well, Iona and Kami. And did she say it's now May or something or April? Yeah, it's been a while. April. It's April. A month or two. Yeah. So. Yep. Oh. Iona comments that it feels like almost no progress has been made at all between the two of them, which is correct.
Yeah. Chizu is like, wow, it's crazy that we're all in the same class. And Iona is like, yeah. That's crazy. She clearly orchestrated this somehow. Yeah. We get a flashback of Sawako telling Iona and Chizu that she didn't give Cause I Haya the chocolates. Iona gets annoyed that they aren't making any progress as a couple and is like, I'm not sure. Iona gets annoyed that they aren't making any progress as a couple and is like somebody should do something.
The class has to go to an assembly on the way there. Sawako sees Kami and thinks about the talk they had last episode. Sawako wonders is Cause I Haya actually like somebody else because she's an idiot. They get new, new seating arrangements for some reason. Oh, so it is now sat next to one guy whose name we learn is Miru Kento, but they call him Kent. So I'm going to call him Kent. I really just call him Kent. Well, they call him Kent. I don't know. Like Clark Kent. Kento.
I'm going to call him Kent because they call him that. He recognizes her as Sotico. He's like, oh, you're like Sotico from like the class legends. And shakes her hand. Then he reaches up to brush her hair aside on her bangs. And he's like, oh, you actually do have eyebrows. That's wild. It's just like a weird thing for him to do. And Sawako is like, this guy is really close to me. And Cause I Haya is so astonished. He physically stands up. I know. What? So cute. Is it cute?
Yeah. I mean, everyone thinks he's so like like Kento calls him Mr. Breezy. Like he's just easy going, but it's cute to see how easily upset he gets by anything. I mean, I think he calls him Mr. Breezy because cause is wind. Oh, wind. Damn it. It's like a pun. I mean, like, yeah, he is also like easy going. I think those are both true things. But I think that's the actual joke. Let's see. Kent comments that she still has a scary look and should probably like, I don't know, smile or something.
Maybe that would help. And Sawako is more shocked than anything. Home room teacher, Penn is going to assign class president using any meanie, mighty mode, like a real professional. I have a question. What? Do you hold on teachers just not actually teased? They only do like mandatory school stuff because I feel like we never see Penn actually teaching them anything. I feel like they do. I feel like it's, you know how like in high school, you'd go to different class periods.
I think this is the same thing, except the teachers are the ones that move. Yeah. And so your homeroom is like your primary one. He probably teaches like history or something. I don't know. And then like other teachers show up for other subjects. Yeah. That's my guess Sawako is going to volunteer to be class president as always, but is preempted when Kent volunteers instead and Sawako is like, she, he took my spot.
No, she's like, oh, I nearly no, I nearly surprised someone of their joy is what she thinks. Like, oh, I'm so glad he spoke up if he wanted it because I don't want him to be like, oh, I wish I'd, I got it, but Sawako volunteered. Yeah. No progress. Let's see. I ought to be cheesy considering to each other comment that that guy is weird. Tomo nominate Sawako to be the plant caretaker because apparently that's the position you can get.
And also Sawako is really good at it and Sawako is touched that Tomo has noticed her. Kent sees this scene play out and thinks to himself that Sawako can smile. Hmm. That's interesting. And then pin makes Joe disciplinary manager, which might be relevant to future, but I just chose full name is like Joe each year or something. Like, yeah. Oh, man. Wild. Freaking job after class. Kent is called by pin to learn how to be class president.
He has to leave his friend who we learned the scarf guy who we learned his name is. Suru is like sucks to suck. And tells him that he could go home without him. And he's like, I'm going to stay after class. So go home and Suru is like, whatever, man. Sawako and the girls go their separate ways. Sawako sees Kazehaya and asks if he yeah, and he asks if she's going home. And she says that she might stay to plant some new flowers in the garden and Kazehaya says, see you later.
We get a shot of Kazehaya remembering the events of today and he tells his friends that actually he's going to stay late to. We cut the cheese. You catch up to Ryu outside. She asked him if there's a date for tour his wedding. Ryu does not remember. Some guys say morning good morning to him, even though it's the afternoon. So maybe that's just a translation there. I don't know. It was up with that. And Ryu responds back with the most animated he's ever been.
Yeah. She's who asked him about his upcoming tournament and is like, oh, you know, you should you should win that. You should win that tournament. Doesn't matter if it's going to like place you in the next tournament or whatever inside baseball thing he said that I wasn't paying attention to. Yeah. Same. Then she tells him that she'll come over for a minute later and he's like, cool. And then he walks off end of scene. I on a sees pin in the hallway.
She thanks him for accepting her proposal for this year's class roster because she bribed him with Valentine's Day chocolate back last episode. He says that is humane. He friends together and he did it because he's a super rad teacher. I on a gets annoyed and like walks away, but then pin tells her that she should have a fun two years with her friends because I guess whatever. Yeah. What is that? Class arrangement you get at sophomore year follows you to the end of high school.
Yeah, I don't understand. But he implied that like, oh, well, now that you're in this class, you're going to be in class all the way till the end. And it's like, OK, that's weird. Whatever. I guess we never have to worry about who's in what class anymore. Sure. Yeah. Anyway, I on a enters the classroom to see causing hi staring out the window. I on a goes and sees what he's looking at and sees that outside the window saw a ghost planting flowers. She's like, oh, OK.
She asks him if he's going to date anyone since he's so popular. And then he's and then she's like, do you know what I mean? And then she's like, do you like like somebody? Like, who do you like? If it's somebody I know, maybe I can help you out. And he replies by saying that that's not like her to say. Also, he doesn't need anybody's help. And if and it's something he wants to tell, you know, the girl he likes first, so they can't be telling I on a who he likes.
I on a leads thinking that this is all going nowhere, which is true. Yeah. Because I say hi. Doesn't want any help, but also clearly needs it. So what comes back to the classroom after finishing gardening to find cause a high waiting for her. Her art is going crazy and she tries to remember how to act around him because it's been three months off camera where she hasn't interacted with him, I guess.
He makes small talk with her and she asks if he's waiting for somebody and he's like, well, actually, I'm waiting here for you. He says he thought that he was the closest guy to her in class and asks if that was just his imagination. Like, have you gotten closer to anybody like maybe a blond guy who like to touch your forehead today? No, I think he's referencing because he didn't get chocolate. That could also be true. Yeah. He's like, is that conceited of me?
She has an extremely hard time responding and it takes forever eventually cause a high give serative waiting and apologize. This is said that it's his fault for asking her a question like that out of the blue and then he leaves. Hence, he's him leaving and is surprised to see Savako standing in the classroom alone. He pieces everything together astonishingly quick as we cut to credits. Yeah, I don't need any help. I got this next scene blunders enormously. Yeah, they're terrible.
They're so terrible. They're so bad. Yeah. I don't even know who's taking an L this episode. Is it both of them? They were going to kiss by end of season one. Oh, how would I have thought that? Of course. No, why would I think that? Oh, my God. It's crazy. I on a can't metal doesn't know how to metal. She does not know how to properly metal. Don't worry. We're about to get somebody who was a pro at metal. Yeah, we're about to get the hero of Kimi Ditsun. Okay, apparently. Well, let's hear it.
Episode three slash 28 is called Forget What I Said. Savako is watering plants and thinks about last episode. She's lost her ability to act normally around Kazehaya. She's also back to scaring people. So she's like really regressed basically to like episode two of season one. Kazehaya is organizing a soccer game with the boys. So I'll go walks in and is greeted by him, but she freezes up and can't reciprocate the greeting. And sees this and sympathizes with Salako.
He sits down next to her and greets her like all normal like and she's astounded at his casual greeting and tries to recreate it. She sucks and he's like, OK, like hold on. You got to do that again, but you can't be so tense. Like you got to be relaxed. Do it like this. And he searched to coach her through it. Kazehaya sees this and lets out a groan. Yeah, Salako overhears Tomo telling Echo that she's constipated. So she rushes out and gets some herbs from her garden. This is not them.
This is some random classmates. It's not them. I was pretty sure it was them. No, it's not. All right, fine. Everybody finds that interesting. End of scene. Kind of random. The boys are at Jim. Ryu notices Kazehaya spacing out and asks him what's up. He says that or Kazehaya cryptically says that he shouldn't have been so direct with her and freaked her out. And Ryu is like, what are you like? Who's her? And Kazehaya is like, oh, I mean, Salako. And then Ryu is like, what'd you say?
And Kazehaya refuses to elaborate. Then Kazehaya says that he doesn't want to keep his feelings inside and he wants to tell her what he feels like. But in a way that won't burden her further. Ryu is like, you don't think she also likes you back and Kazehaya gets a flash of all the time Salako said that she admires and respects him. But that's it. And he gets pissed off about it. Yeah. He yells that it's not a big deal about him being so pleasant. Why does she keep saying that?
That's just like normal shit. Ryu is like, is there like a rush to all of this? Why are you why are you feeling so why are you feeling this way right now? And Kazehaya is like, yes, there's a rush. There's another guy honing it on her. Ryu is like, well, I don't know what's going on, but I feel for you, buddy. And Kazehaya is like, don't say that. That gets on my nerves. After school, Salako shows Cheezy and Ayane, her herb garden.
She's labeled the plants with the ailments they cure instead of the name of the plant. So she's just like labeling these things with like constipation and like diarrhea. All of this stuff. Kent shows up and is like, what's up, everybody? Salako thinks that she couldn't help but hope that it was Kazehaya who showed up instead of Kent. And Kent is like, oh, were you hoping I was the guy you liked Salako? She's like, how did you know that? And he's like, well, I have ESP.
We cut to them all sitting on a park bench together, all four of them, which is weird. Kent explains that he's a philanthropist who can't help leave a girl who is resigned to unhappiness alone. Ayane and Cheezy think that's really weird to say. Kent strikes a hot guy pose and says, when he does this, that she should smile like a cue. Like I'm going to tell you when to smile by doing this hot guy pose and Cheezy when Ayane reacts to the animation that happens when he does that pose, I think.
Because it's cringe, I guess. He compliments them in a way that they don't seem into. He does the pose again and Salako tries to smile, but it looks bad and he's like, you're smiling two tents again. You're doing it wrong. And Salako accepts him as her social skills master and Ayane wonders what the heck this guy is playing at. We cut to Kent walking in a hallway where he runs into some classmates that are all women.
They ask him if there's any cute girls in his class and he says that there's a dark intense chick that he's curious about. Ayane overhears this and then later she confronts him on the stairwell where you confront people. Yeah. I mean, ask him. She asked him what he's planning and why he's like clinging to Salako and he says that he's doing that because she likes cause a hire, right? And Ayane is like, oh, it's like, yep, I know.
Ayane said that he shouldn't stick his nose into other people's business and he responds by saying, listen, it's OK. I'm a nice guy and then leaves. Exams are coming up and everyone's gossiping about the Salako note which boosted everyone's GPA last semester. Kent overhears this and confirms it with Salako. He's like, did you do that? And she's like, I guess this is my accomplishment.
And then he stands up and announces during class while the teacher is still teaching that Salako is going to lead a study group after class today. Salako looks like she's going to throw up but ends up playing along. Class ends and it's just Chizu, Ayane, Tomo and Ekko who's shown up for the study group and Salako is like, oh, great, people showed up. That's awesome. Kazahaya joins in and is followed by several of his friends, including Joe.
Takahashi also joins and is like, Kazahaya invited me and they all get started. Let's see, Kent and Suru look at the study group through the door and Kent's like, wow, a lot of people actually came. And Suru was like, yeah, dude, Kazahaya invited a bunch of people. Did you like not pay attention to when that happened? Apparently, Kazahaya's whole deal is that he can't leave loners alone. And Kent is like, oh, that's his deal. Interesting.
Salako can't tutor like 13 people normally, so she has to go up on the whiteboard and write her notes on, I guess it's a blackboard, right? The notes on the blackboard. And we got a good montage of Salako giving a lecture slash study session. I feel like... Which is intimidating, by the way. Writing on a blackboard is not normal. I feel like at the end, whenever the show does, I know it's going to be like, and she became a teacher or something.
Yeah, I feel like that's just really good handwriting for a blackboard. Yeah, it's hard to write. Like it seems really easy because you're like, oh, you just do it like, but like it's weird. I've had to do stuff like feeling on my hands. Oh, yeah. The fact that they use chalk sucks. Everything I've done was whiteboard. So it's like dry erase marker. I think it's like older stuff used to have it. So if you're like in an old building, it's always chalk. And then something now...
Responsible for claiming the chalk erasers by banging them together. Yeah, it sucks. It's bad. Let's see. Cheezoo and Joe are both able to answer a math problem and everybody is impressed. They're like, wow, Salako, you did it. If these guys can answer a math problem... The Duo, the Dunst Duo, I believe they call them. Yeah. Kent thinks it's finally time to give the signal for Salako to smile and he's about to do the pose, but then stops because Salako is already wearing a big, genuine smile.
She can just do it. And everybody is shocked and comments on how good... Or how it's good luck to see Salako smile. Everybody leaves. Kent tells her she did a good job. He looks deep into her eyes and says, What? And comments that she is an anti-disappointment. What an anti-disappointment you are. Ayane and Cheezoo thinks that's really weird. We cut to him walking home with Suru, but then he tells Suru to go home without him. He's going to stick around for a little bit.
Kazahaya asks Salako to stay a minute at the school. Cheezoo and Ayane make up an excuse to leave. Salako awkwardly thanks Kazahaya for today. She's like, thanks for bringing everybody. She says that she can't... No, she doesn't think that she's great at public speaking, but she did her best. And Kazahaya is like, Actually, I think you're really good at teaching other people. Kazahaya then is like, Hey, remember that thing I told you the other day? Don't worry about it. Just forget I said it.
And then he leaves and Salako is just left there to think. We get a scene where Kazahaya starts to leave, but runs into Kent who says he's been waiting for him as we cut to credits. Ooh, about to go down. What do you think is going to happen? Well, all of this hinges on the part where he tells Ayane that he's a good guy. Do we think he's a good guy? No. No? I think he's just a normal guy, like a little bit of a troublemaker, a lotster. I don't think he's necessarily a good guy, though.
I think he's just doing it for his own entertainment, not for like benevolent reasons. You don't think so? I think he is being a good guy here. I think he thinks this was fun. Like he is the guy version of Ayane. Well, Ayane tries to be more subtle. But this is what I'm saying. The thing that I like about these episodes is there is an acknowledgement that like social skills are a skill. And if you don't use them, they atrophy. Right? Like Sawako has not been like socializing with people.
She's kind of been insular in these last couple months, which is why she's like regressed. And so what happened in the beginning of the first season, re-happening now that she's around some new people that aren't familiar with her and how she works. Yeah. I mean, the thing about Sawako is that she can do well, but she has to be pushed into doing stuff, which is a thing that Kent kind of clocks immediately, right? He's like nominating her to leave a study group.
He's like, oh, yeah, you can you got this. And then she does have it. And he's like, oh, OK, wow, you really did have it. That's not this is not as disappointing as I thought it was going to be. That's cool, actually. And so I think that works pretty well. I mean, it's not that much different than like stuff that like when I on a Chizu orchestrated her going on a date with Kazehai, you know what I mean?
Like if you push her into situations, she can do OK, but she needs to be pushed into situations because she will not just initiate them herself, right? Which is what we see in the first episode when Kourmi is like, hey, you either need to like confess with using these chocolates or not. Like don't half-ass it. And then she just doesn't do anything because she ties away. And I on a like I on the last episode, is the whole like is I ought to be able to like metal or do anything?
And the answer is no, because she doesn't want to actively do anything. Like the way that she has been trying to manipulate Sawako and Kazehai to get together is to put them in situations. Right? It's like, oh, we'll make sure you guys are alone together or we'll like get you to go on this date together or we'll do some other thing. It's all about like we'll make the conditions right so you guys can go do the thing.
But the problem with Sawako and Kazehai isn't that they never have like alone time or like they just don't have the conditions to do the stuff. It's that they just both lack. Initiative. They both like initiative. They don't want neither of them want to be active in doing this. And so the thing I on a can't make them do is to make them be active. She can make them go on a date, but she can't make them kiss at the end of the episode when they should because that's not what they're there.
They aren't motivated to do that. They don't want to be active. The problem with them is that Sawako's like, well, okay. Kazehai is like, you know, she's still developing. Like I don't want to over burden her with my feelings because she's already, you know, like has her handful just trying to do normal socialization and getting along with her classmates. And he knows this is like a whole another level that she's not familiar with.
So he's trying to be patient, but it's trying to get impatient because now there's pressure, external pressure. Thanks to Kento and Sawako, I think is just. Well, she's never had any romantic experience. And I don't know if she's like. Kazehai and I aren't suited for each other like I know I like him, but I don't know that it's the best thing for him to, for him to like me. They're both kind of like. Inflected about how the other will. Handle the. Information of knowing they like them.
Yeah, I mean, this is like the thing I like about this. The thing I like about Kent so far and like what how like the thing that works about him for me is that he is making everybody be active, right? Like he doesn't. There's a little bit of Kazehai underestimating Sawako a bit being like, oh, well, if she put her in a situation where she doesn't know something, then like she's not going to know what to do.
Whereas like Kendall just put her in a situation and like she can just figure it out because Sawako is actually pretty good at figuring stuff out, even if it gets kind of rough, right? Even like Kazehai, like when he asked her. If he's close to her at the end of episode two. She doesn't like give her all the time to answer the questions, right? Yeah, like he could have just waited patiently, but he doesn't because he's kind of impatient.
And also just doesn't think that she'd be able to answer it because he kind of again, like I don't think he I think he kind of underestimates her a little bit. Whereas Ken is just like, yeah, you can lead the study group. Yeah, you got it. Even though he doesn't like actually know she has it. He's just like, well, we'll see what happens, you know, worse, the worst that comes to worse, it'll just be kind of lame. And so I do like that.
And also like this is good characterization for Kazehai because it is the most explicit we've gotten that Kazehai is mostly just reactive. Yeah. Like the most active stuff he's ever done in his relationship with Sawako was when he felt threatened by somebody else, right? Because like the time he goes and tells her basically that he likes her or like floats the idea of dating is after Kourumi like set up that thing with Ryu.
And like, I don't think Kazehai actually thought Ryu liked her, but this is the first time it entered its mind that some other guy might like her. So maybe he should do something. And it's the same thing. And then he did, but he hasn't done anything since then. Yeah. Right. I mean, not really. You know, he's done like nice things like show up there for new years and at the Christmas party and stuff like that.
And like, he hasn't been like active, active in months until Kent shows up and is like, oh, well, I'm like, I can serve this pressuring point for you. And now he feels like the, there's some urgency because another guy has noticed Sawako, but that's the only thing that will motivate him is like a feeling of pressure or like competition. Otherwise he just wouldn't do anything. Yeah. Which is incredible.
But this is also why like Ayane can't do anything is because she can't make that pressure for him. She can't make him be more active. Yeah. Even when she's like, I can help you out. He's like, I don't want anybody to help me out. And she's like, well, you're fucking doomed then. I don't know what to tell you. So this is why I like, hmm. Do you feel like we're getting to know more about cause I hire or like.
Yes. This is the most we've gotten to know about cause I hire because I'm the thing I'm always saying, and I know I'm always saying this and I feel like I haven't been expressing this super well. Is that cause I hire feels a little bit closed off, right? Like it feels like he's putting on like kind of a nice guy facade a little bit. Not not like a malicious one, but he is like acting like the nice guy, you know, as a focuses on other people and not himself when engaging other people.
Like he keeps a focus on them and not him. Yes. And he also hides all of his feelings about everything all the time, which is why I'm constantly being like, what does cause I hire think about the people around him? It's Valentine's Day. He gets confessed by like five people. What does he think about Valentine's Day? Does he like dread it because he has to keep rejecting everybody that day? I like, is it, is it annoying to have to do that?
And like he, he pays attention to Salico very closely, right? But like, apparently he's not paying attention to other people that closely because, you know, I mean, like at the end of the Karumi arc, which remind me from episode zero where he like is surprised that she's so curt at the end of it. Yeah. He's like, oh, you weren't like this, but she is like this all the time. I think everything pretty surface level with everyone. Like, yeah, but not like going deep. But that's what I'm saying.
Like he is not paying attention to Karumi in the way he's paying attention to Salico, right? So who does he pay attention to? Like why? Like what does he think about the other people around him? Because in comparison to Kent, which I feel like actually is a really like before I was comparing Kazahaya to Ryu, which is not a very good comparison.
But comparing him to Kent, it's like incredible because, you know, at the end of episode one when Karumi leaves and the guy is like, dang, or in Suru, his friend is like, wow, she really 180. She used to be nice. And Kent's like, yeah, she's way better now because he knows what she's actually like. He pays attention to people like Kent actually pays attention to everybody. And the other ones were cause a high only pays attention to people that interest him. Yeah. Anyway, I think Kent's great.
I I at the beginning I'm like, this guy seems like he's going to be annoying and sucks. And at the end of episode three, I'm like, this guy's a fucking hero. He is the only one he getting anybody to do anything. Yeah. I like how even if you're just like, oh, well, he just seems to be doing this kind of like out of his own enjoyment. I think that's bad. Like that's a fine motivation to have. I mean, that's kind of what I on his motivation was at the beginning a little bit.
It's like just a mess with cause a high a little bit. And then, you know, she became better friends with Salchow and now it's like in the tank for that. But she's right. I mean, as it stands, you know, they're not nothing's going to happen if nobody does anything. Kent is carrying their relationship. That's good. Nice. I like it a lot. I ended up liking these episodes, even though the first two are kind of unbearable. A little frustrating to watch. It's they really have regressed so much.
Yeah. Sweet. Want to get going. Do you have any thoughts? Kent is posture is wild in that last shot. He's like back is pushed out. But he's like slouchy stance at the same time. That's weird. Yeah. I want to know. I want to know. I want to. This is the most close anger. I feel like we've had. This is the most close anger for me because I'm like, oh my God, we're going to get a conversation between Kent and Kasehaya. I want more conversations with Kasehaya with people.
He finally tells Ryu kind of that he likes Sawako indirectly, but he doesn't. He doesn't want to open up at all. It makes me say Kasehaya. That Ryu. What? Thanks that he likes her. So he's not like, it's not a surprise to Ryu. So I think he feels a little. I'm saying that he likes her to read you because he already knows that he suspects it. Yeah. I mean, that's true.
Like, I think that's true, but that's also the reason why I feel like he's okay with saying it is because it's something Ryu already knows. He won't tell Ryu any new information because he doesn't want to reveal anything about himself. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe we'll skip just reasoning for why he's like this. I don't know. I'm his big brother. Maybe it's just like, oh, I'm always having to take care of someone else and not rely on others or something like that. We'll see.
Yeah. I mean, I do like this character. And like, Kazehaya is a guy who is popular and nice to everybody and is considerate and does not open up about it, does not talk about himself or open up at all to anybody. Yeah. That's a much better, like, me understanding this character than I've ever had in season one from these first three episodes. So it's great. Good. Good shit. Okay. How about you do your recommendation first because I gotta think of one.
Okay. I recently did a 24 hour stream and in that 24 hour stream, I played several video games. Some of them I played for the first time, including one game called Nightmare Kart. This is a game that came out this year, I believe, from the developers of a, it's not really a mod, especially not a mod at all. They were making a version of Bloodborne, but with like PS1 graphics or PS2 graphics. It's like supposed to be a demake, but lawyers found out and so they had to stop making that.
And instead what they made is a Bloodborne racing game, basically, that is distinct enough from Bloodborne so that it's not a copyright infringement, but it basically is just, you know, there are characters that are just like, oh, this is this guy. Oh, this seems like this guy, but it's in a PS2 style and it's a like Mario Kart slash more like Diddy Kong racing, karting game that involves like shooting guns and using vials and like activating some other stuff. And it's very cute. It's very fun.
It's free on Steam and also I think on itch. I think it's also there. Itch. Itch.io. What is that? It's a website where you can buy. It's like a storefront, but it's mostly for like indie games and stuff. You can get the DRM free if you care about that. But yeah, it's really fun. It's just a kart game. You know, I probably beat it. I didn't unlock the secret ending because it has secret endings because it is like Bloodborne. I didn't unlock any of that stuff.
I just had kind of like the most basic playthrough, but it took like two hours or so. It's really fun and it's really cute. And there's like some good like jokes in it. There's some good bits in it. It's really fun to see how they made the different areas that from not Bloodborne and some of the different carts and stuff like that. And it's it's really good. The soundtrack is fun. It's a good time. You should check it out if you just want to have some light gameplay. And you got some time.
Nice. Nightmare party. OK, I'm also going to recommend a video game. It's a long life finished back in January. It's Marvel Midnight Sun, which is kind of a turn based. I don't know if strategy is the right word, but it's let's see. It came out like me two years ago. But the story is kind of that.
So I guess in the comics, Midnight Sun was like a sub team, you know, how there's like different little comic series with different character pairings to make a group within the larger like Marvel world. Kind of like how X men are their own thing. But Midnight Sun is starts basically your character who has been kind of on animated kind of for like a long time. Or you're dead. And these characters face this threat that has, which is who led to your death in the first place.
And like you were the only person really to be equal to this person like you defeated them, but died in the process. So these guys are like, we got to bring them back to, you know, fight the same evil blah, blah, blah. So you get to customize your character. And I like that for all the game, the game promotion and cover art that the the characters, the hunter that you play as. And in all the promotions, they use a female character as like the role of that playable character.
And you basically you have it's mostly melee and strength and healing stuff that you can do. But like so you're like out of time, you're like basically sailing which trials is kind of like the era that you grew up in. And so everything is super unfamiliar. And it's got, you know, your team consists of like Iron Man and Ghost Rider and Blade and Magic and you know, he go and stuff.
And it's, you know, it's got like, I would develop the friendship with folks to increase kind of like Fire Emblem like to increase combat, blah, blah, blah. It's just I enjoy the gameplay a lot. Let me see if there's like a better description of the tactical game, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like the gameplay a lot. I know it seems, you know, like you would think a superhero game would be super like fast paced, kind of free roaming, but I really enjoy the game.
Yeah. Turn based tactics, deck building, I guess are the terms used with it. Let me just read this synopsis. Marvel Midnight Suns is ultimate crossover event combining the rich story character relationships and customization progression of an RPG with the tactical strategy and combat mechanics of a revolutionary, revolutionary new card based tactics game set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe.
You will forge unbreakable bonds of legendary Marvel superheroes and dangerous supernatural warriors and fight against the world's greatest threat yet the demonic forces of Lilith and the Elder God, Cthulhu. So this is like the same this came out like a little before a crisis that game Diablo through for. So I was like, damn, Lilith is in like all the games this year as the antagonist. It's wild. And yeah, it's really.
I enjoy it immensely, and maybe if you're into turn based stuff, you will be as well. You know, it's one of those games where they add the elements I like of like friendship, you know, like character development and stuff, but it's kind of like a. What a limited. Version of that, but at least it's there and I'll take what I can get. But yeah, that's my recommendation, Marvel Midnight Suns. And yeah, that's that segment. So you want to. Uh huh.

Oh, I never like, what did she do with them? I didn't even think about that. Throw them away and cried.
Through them away. I would not give them to pin. No, because she respect even the unrespectable. If they're, I'm really worried. I'm suddenly really worried that because Kent is here and he's doing all the meddling IAana isn't going to have anything to do this season. I think she's going to do more role as filled the defensive like worried that this guy is meddling. So I feel like she'll be keeping an eye on Kent. And apparently her hands will be full of pin interactions.
Well, remember, if you're if one of your friends or acquaintances or somebody you just meet seems to be struggling with their social life, just start putting them in situations. Maybe it'll work out. Oh, God. Yep. I don't know. Maybe you should actually do that. Snickerswam. That is more my style. That's kind of how I'm a friend. I'm kind of synchronous. I'm I just like make people do stuff sometimes. Yeah. It works out. I feel like I've done that with you, right? Made you do egg and trout.
Putting you in situations like, hey, give us a speech. Birthday party I've been to. Yeah. Just start putting your friends in situations for the hell of it. Yeah. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. There's no way that could backfire. That's right. All right. All right. See you next time for more episodes. Bye bye. Because I have a guy. He would say that. All right. Weirdo. He automatically says hi to you. Yeah. Yes.
