So we get all the way up there. It's fine. It's like dark, and then Ryan's like, let's like, let's eat something and so we sat down finally, long day of hiking. And then all of a sudden, my dad comes up there their and needs we gotta leave in about right now. And Like, I'm not leaving. I gotta jump in this story. Go. Yeah. This was a lot... This wasn't like, we gotta leave right

now. This was like a... Like hour and a half conversation of Jim knew where these bulls were as these elsewhere, and we kinda knew there were some elk up in this other spot. Where we were. And the and so Jim comes this night. Night, like, probably midnight like And so should we've been up early next day getting the goats ready hiking up this hill, get up there, and it's no, like, small feet. I mean, for... I mean, maybe for Annabel, Jim, for

me, it's no small feet. And I'm like, I'm I'll I'll just stay it, you know, I've... I'll just stay up here and see if there's any elk here. U. Anyways, I continue on. So he decides to stay and me and my dad. Take off. And he's like, we gotta go fast. So we start hiking. And and, it's pitch black. So I'm following my dad. He has the flashlight, and he's like, wait a minute. I think we're lost. We like circle back around to Ryan. I'm like, what the heck? What do you guys do she guys? And

what am I right now. Both of them are pretty local after the feet hernandez crazy, man, but we just wanna let you know that we appreciate your support and most importantly, enjoy the podcast. Enjoy a podcast. E so. He has runs street rock roof crew. Yeah. You have quite a few South American. The not fucking South American. What wallet? Guatemala? Yeah. So that's central Central America. Well, it's all south. There is a central in between the north and the south. All south of

me. It's the middle part. Not American. He has a grip those people helping him about. Yeah. How's that going? How's that business going? What's going? Okay? It's stressful. Is that how you tow your tore your arm off there? Kinda. How's Oh, yeah. Tell. It started it there. Jim Torres bi up. He's had it rep pinned. Gotta tell him how you tried to save some sheet rock in fucking. It just a reaction to seen a you rug falling over the wall. And Reached over to ran over to try

to catch it with my left hand. I don't know why. That she just let the freaking forget 25 dollar thing hit the floor, but I need it. I felt the pop. And and I knew it was kinda bad. And then I went up going to the doctor got it I mri, and then I didn't know what... And I didn't know what the... I knew something it tore. And then I... I thought it was like, the Bra ellis muscle. And then I we went up going, my brother came up and we went up to the mountains. And do some fishing in some scouting.

And and I was trying to protect my arm, but I was up on a ridge, and there was a bunch of snow, on a right when you hit the get the top of it really steep on a ridge. Mh in a snow it's pretty warm and the snow. I popped the... I kinda post, you know, fell through the snow and as soon as I got out of the snow. I slipped down the hill, probably, I don't know, 20 30 feet so lighting, and I had to pull in my hand. In a my left hand hit the hit a rock. I don't know, the pole hit

a rock. It... I just felt it snap and unravel, and Thought my vice it to move up my arm or my that just happened bad. Many miles from the truck? We... I don't about 5 or so. 6. Anyway, They spent the... I, I got, I, I... My had... I'd had messaged a, my wife and she messaged the doctor to go. I when nothing we could do today or it was, like, on a Saturday. Nothing we get to do today. So just come in on Monday. So so then I came in on Monday, And they go, well, we already know you

Have... You... You, build your biceps. So we have to have surgery on it. Did they had to Mri the week before. I didn't know about it. And then then they said, I'm no something else happens, like, a lot different. My whole form had, Like purple, like, lined that moved up it, and my bicycle it. Moved, like, this happened been since. It felt like a different spot. So anyways, it was... They just... They didn't never mri, but they And then I went into Surgery on monday.

It was there an additional failure at that point or same thing? Yeah. We're just more shredded. Yeah. I don't know. Fucked it up worse. Yeah. He just said, we're... You know, so I don't I don't really know the whole thing because that when I went in on Monday did you the... They said they had to get to surgery right away. And so on Monday, I didn't really get to see the doctor much. And they put me out and I out for like. 6 hours. Mh. It and the doctor was gone when I woke

up, and And so... But then he just told Jenny that the they had to dig a long way to try to find out tenant. And then when I talked to the next day. Yeah. We really had a dig hard for that attending. Way up your by set... Did he, he said, well, you lost about 2 and a half centimeters of normal, what I would normally recover. So I had to pull that circuit tight. That's all I told, so I didn't really... I haven't been back in them.

Yeah. Have you bent it straight? No. I've been in this thing the whole hold, so I know what going So Jim comes from a long line of fucking injuries. So you you've told me the other day that both your shoulders, they say are beyond repair the knee replacements. Yep. You broke your back. Yeah. You've had to have the tendon in your foot cut and you're Yeah. Like the big army. Yeah. Yep. Your hips fucked

up. Yeah. But that that was... That's what... I was finally getting back to it after I in January. I I tore my gas lateral alice muscle off the bone. Well, that would kinda put me down for a while. So I'll just get straight. I'm I'm gonna get get back into it now. You need to slow down a little bit. Yeah. Maybe I'm just falling apart. I don't know. Did literally. Well, when you get 60. Start For those that don't know, we have Jim Carr back on the podcast... This is... You're the...

This is your third time, so you've been on the podcast the most. Mh. And he has his daughter, Car. We've told lots of stories about Annabel and her elk cunning, I guess prowess. So she's here a few, share a few stories, and we're here to talk why a little bit of scouting and how Jim has 4 daughters and 3 of the 4 daughters hunt and probably 4 of the 4 daughters. A hunt. How is... Not just hunt but murder shit. Yeah. But yeah. And it's like, there's kids.

The difference. There's guys with 4 sons in the 4... None of the 4 sons hunt. Or, like, how did you cultivate this... I guess it's... We talked earlier, like, competitive nature in daughters because she's... You would say she's almost a world class athlete. So Yeah. Close to it. Is this true? This does help when you're hunting, of course. Yeah. Yeah it doesn't run a little bit? Mh. Yeah. Yeah. What do you what do you what do you run?

For track, I run the 800 meters and the 1600, and I like the 402. Is 802 laps. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I love it. I actually ended up winning state this year in it. Oh, shit. And I the best time in Of Idaho for it too. Oh, yeah. So yeah. Congratulations. You're too awesome. Times stage champion Yeah. In 800 meter. You went as a freshman? Yeah. And a sophomore. And then you win the mile too? Yeah. Wow. You're going into junior? Yeah. 2 You're gonna still... Obviously Gonna continue to do this. Mh.

You'll open it... Takes you into college? Yeah. I wanna scholarship. Nice. You've been talking to anybody yet. Imagine this will be the summer. Yeah. They can't really come to you until after your sophomore year. Yep. Okay. But, obviously, holding 2 fucking state championships in your belt already you gonna do alright? Yeah. Yeah. Think... I think they're going to find you. Yeah. Yep. Yeah.

You may have to do a little bit of, you know, we talk about a a boy place football too, nothing like what you're doing right now, but... I think you gotta do a little bit of self promotion too. Like, if there's somewhere, you do want to go a specific college you wanna go. There's definitely some room for... In other words, don't just sit back and wait for shit to fall and you're not. Sometimes you gotta go get what you want

to. Yep. Yeah. We put Aubrey played college basketball and we put her a reel together. Her highlights, and we started... Where she wanted to go we'd send them. Mh. And tracks different because it's, you know, it's you and your time, Well, basketball, there's there's so many basketball players. There's 6 8 on a team. Mh. So it's hard to, you know, get through all those girls to work your time. Is your time and you can see where

you stand. So it's a little simpler, but I'd still make a sizzle real start sending it to police. Yeah. Luke can help you with that. Okay. That'd be awesome. Yeah. Yeah Yep. Definitely. Did you wanna go to a certain place? I know your dad that wants you to go anywhere where he can't drive to and make sure you're not becoming to let feel the same? I You. I don't wanna go away from home. I love my way so

much. Like, I'm so close to them. And does any of the, like, Oregon states known for football let's say or any the local kind of Schools known for running. Oregon would be known for Oregon. Yeah. It's... Yeah. So then that's a goal. Really good. Yeah. Mh. Definitely. Do like 8 hours away. I know it's. Yeah. That's not bad. 8 hours is not bad. Liberal is fucked. Yeah. Yeah. You just gotta stay strong. Yeah. Yeah. Is there... At any, like... I know, like, Ls isn't

You related? It's just gonna say. So, like, is there any correlation with being in warm weather that, basically they run better time because they can run more? Yeah. I think it has to do a little bit with elevation too, Like, like, people that live in higher elevation when they come down. To, like sea level for a race. They do so much better. They look like they might be worse. But... Oh, they're like better because they've been training up there. They go to like Colorado

and run a little bit. Northern Arizona has, like for... They're not that big of a school, but they have, like, the best distant running. Mh. Yeah. For... And I don't know what it is about them, but they... Always kinda dominate even the national. You don't, with the Ls you and everybody. You can always train 2 with 1 of those oxygen, like, deprivation masks saw. I've seen those. Yeah. Yeah. It's just Anything past about 10:10 yards is too far. I can't even breathe sitting here for the past.

Oh, and so I got it... I got listen tell us out of all your hunting that you've done in your life, what what story stands out the most in your head. What memory do you think of most or, you know, tell a story that that that stick to your head. Without outside influence. Yeah. So last year's was pretty crazy, but the year before that, when I got my biggest Elk ever, it was a nightmare, and I've I'm gonna be honest. You that multiple times with that trip. Yeah. It was a... You almost cried

multiple. Oh, I did. You did cry multiple. Yeah. Be honest. It was it was not Well tell the tell the story. So I remember, like... On the... So me and Wright, my dad drove down there before us, I don't know if he had work or something like that, but me and Ryan drove down there, and we started hiking up the mountain that my dad told us to go up. But then he was... Apparently he was trying to reach us the whole entire time to tell us not to go up that mountain. Oh, shit.

So we with a her goat. Yeah. With a her go. Shit. So we hiked all the way up there. Is just the video. No. No. Well, there was a video where somebody puts underwear on the scope there coming on. That was okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'm with you. Go ahead. But anyways, so we get all the way up there. It's fine... It's like, dark, and then Ryan's it's like, let's like, let's eat something and

so we sat down finally. Long day of hiking, And then all of a sudden, my dad comes up there and he's like, we gotta leave in about right now. And Like, I'm not leaving. I gotta jump in this story. Go. Yeah This was a lot... This wasn't like, we gotta leave right now. This was like, a hour and a half conversation of Jim do where these bulls were. This these elsewhere. And we kinda knew there were some milk up in this other spot. Where we were. And the... And so Jim comes night

night. Like, probably midnight. Yeah yeah. And so should we've been up early next day getting the goats ready hiking up this hill, get up there, and it's no, like, small feet. I mean, for... I mean, maybe for Annabel, Jim for me. It's no small feet. And I'm like, I'm... I'll I'll just stay it, you know, I'm... I'll just stay up here and see if there's any elk here. U. Anyways, continue on. So he decides to stay, and me and my dad, take off He's like, we gotta go fast. So we start hiking.

And it's pitch blacks so I'm following my dad He has the flashlight and he's like, wait a minute. I think we're lost. We, like, circle back around to Ryan. I'm like, what the heck is... What do you guys do with that? And my like, I don't know. Oh, They're like, oh, no. So we just take off again. And nobody's slept. This is still the middle of the night. Oh, yeah. This is it's just an again. Goodness. And so we start... Hiking and we get into these clips, and

I'm just terrified. I'm like, happens if 1 of us slip and fall off, and then nobody's 1 gonna be able to come and find us. So I'm just terrified. We're hiking all the way down and it's taking a long time. Again, it's pitch black and it's steep. So we're going down. So it's scary like, who's gonna roll, you know. And so we finally, get down to, like, an area where my dad said he parked the quad because it was, like, way in there because he couldn't drive in there with a truck.

And so we don't get on the quad and I think that we didn't have the key at the time. So we were using, like, a bobby pin discount. I left it at home. You forgot the key. Yeah. So using a bop Bobby Pin Right. Safety Pants. So know I, I think. What are you call at? I guess a paper clip paper. And then we take off, I remember, and I'm just, like, so tired from doing all this hiking, and I just... I think I just start to fall asleep, but then my dad, like, were lost.

We don't know where work. Oh, yeah. No. Then the lights turned off. And I just undone. I'm like, mom, and we were just driving in circles and, like, it was like, this flat. Like, you just couldn't fit. And I was terrified, and we tried calling my mom and she was able to answer, but she couldn't help us. And I was just I was terrified. Like, I'm like, we're gonna be lost forever, and I tried using tried using a flashlight and shining it to drive, but it just didn't

work. It wasn't a strong enough flight. So it was just absolutely terrifying. Like, But brain into my burn into my memory. This take from when you started on the quad till where actually found the truck. Hour half. Because what happened was I was in such a hurry to get up to you guys that I didn't bring any batteries. So I had a the flat... I'm been talking like, it was like a flashlight. That

was so damn. Yeah. And and in the there's a road there, like this or road, but you know how those roads are up there to kinda... And you can't you couldn't see the road. I could... I I could... See the roads. Like, I keep driving off at a sage rush and like, how far were you parked from... Where was the 4 wheeler was to the truck? How far was that drive 20 many miles? I was probably, like, 2 or so me. But what happened was? We're half first? I I kept on trying to, like, thinking I was

the road was turning. I couldn't see And so then I just keep turning they're like, I just say right. You know, So I kept... I... So did you ever find the elk that you were supposed to be hurrying up to find... Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We did. So we got to the truck. Or whatever eventually and then went to sleep and then early in the morning, might have like we gotta go. We're gonna be late. So we start hiking up this not and There's a trail, Like, there's like, a kind of a

trail. He's like, no. Gotta take the shortcut. So we start going up. You back up for a second. It basically, we got to the truck and it was time to drive. So she fell asleep in the truck, and we drove to the But, heather... Was about an hour drive. So we got there... We we showed up the trail head at, like, 04:54 40, and I was like, we are... I got her up. I I seen a horse trailer at the... And I I think the guys were saddle up the horses. I, we gotta go now. So that's when

she woke up. Yeah. So I basically got to sleep like, how how long it took to get there. U. So, yeah. I was totally really tired. And then we started hiking up the in my dad's shortcut, so we just got point. Can we just stop for a second He's like. Gotta go up to the top. And so my... Alright. So where you keep on hiking? And then I think do we run into people? No. It was what happened was we found, we got up first... Right when we got to the ridge, Ice. About 1 of the

hurdles oaks because we had seen. And I made you get down, and I got remember I got mad at you. Yeah. Because I thought you blew it. No no worries. Can I say? Okay. So he not he started getting Mad. He's like, what the heck wrong with you Like, I didn't do anything. He's like, the Elk Gone now and we... Like, there's no more chances. And I'm like, shoot. Can Well, ended up being some other hunters, I think like this... Was an outfit. Outfit. That jump with their horses and stuff like

that. Yeah. So the herd took off, And was that the heard that my a was in? Mh. So I... We... I could hear It was really loud. And so my dad that we gotta get ready to shoot now. And he's like, annabelle, you shoot the biggest 1, You should the biggest bowl and make sure it's not a cow. And he's like, you gotta do it. I'm like, Alright. And they're all. You guys... You got to the top of the ridge and you said the Elk were gone. Oh, yeah. So and Is going a little too

faster. I am. So they they were gone. They went down as canyon. So we had to want about another mile. U. And we knew they just bought them again. And we couldn't sp down in this deep hole. And, so we didn't... We were there. It it was probably noon before we spotted him again. And what happened? There was some. Oh, what happened to Res some fucking bruise I could tell there were some guys down the down off the. Small. He looks right in that elk. There were some there were some guys down

in the bottom. They were bug. Remember there... I could tell the were people. And they whine up my... And that's whenever I said, hey, let's I heard them Bug, and in I crap, we need to go and hit this spot because his bulls are are gonna run out of that canyon right now. So we ran over to this we ran over to this ridge where you could see it across. You gotta give that picture to put on the podcast. Yep. Yeah. Ran over this ridge where you can glass

across. It literally, like, 30 seconds later and it came out because I... Those people... IIII heard people walking on a trail down though. And you hear, you know, a person Vehicle. Oh, yeah. And nobody didn't tolerate that right off. So we in position and that's where Annabel. Though about your story about. Oh, I seen a big born about a whole, like 60 cows. So, like... Yeah. So he's like, you gotta shoot and so is, I think, a thousand 24 yards away. That the elk word

running. Oh. Because I remember that. And then, they were running, and I'm like, okay. Here I go. And I shoot they they east... We stopped him right before you shot right over the top. You know, I measured it, you know, at that little opening. Yeah. They were able well... My dad was able to see how far away they. Like, I don't if I'm gonna be able

to make this. Is, like, really far. He's like, we'll just try and send then I shoot and then I'm not... I was, like, the whole moment by so fast as I'm was so nervous. I'm like, this is my only chance to get it. And so I I shoot and then I'm not sure if I... Got it the first time, so I think I shot again, and then did they come closer or... Yeah. So you hit the bull and ran straight at us. Down. All the other ones kept on running away. And were able to get down she suppressed?

Yeah. Yeah. He ran straight out, and then she put another shot into him. Okay. 65P. Yep. 01:47. So you range your range of range? Is she doing her wrong dials? I a dial because she was set on the And let's just let's also put this in there because people are gonna hear, oh, a thousand and 28 yards or whatever it was. These girls... Shoot a lot and annabel is an absolute zombie on the rifle. Mh. When she points at something, when she shoots, her fundamentals are good enough,

it's going to probably die. Mh. So put. I was dialing as we're going, so I knew exactly and I were a bullet hidden. So I doesn't. She had a good rest in everything, but I would, you know, something nice. And then, yeah. So I thought I got it and so I started celebrating and I'm like, like, I'm like Screaming. I'm so happy and my dad's like, we've gotta go look for it now. U. And I said, Okay. Dark timber. Yeah. So they're they're in rates

me. This is what I hate reaches. U. I'm not getting the messages in time at all and they're you never get the messages. No. I'm in reach. I knew they would be in reaching because I was... My plan was to look for Elk the next day and tell if there's was elk where we I was at. And I got a message from finally, like, bolt down or something, but they weren't coming in order. So there was, like, I was very confused. Yeah. And I get down to the truck, start driving back and pop a tire.

I have the goats. So I had to go as a Mack, Yeah. Found the only dude in Mack to fix a flat. Okay. It's lucky because on a weekend, I believe. U. So they're waiting for me anyway anyways, go through the rest of your. Your your heartache I'm trying to find it. I'll go ahead. Okay. So we go down there and start looking, and we can't find it anywhere, and I, like... Okay. And might, like, let's just keep on looking. So we look for about probably like, over an hour,

and I start crying. Like, I'm like, Are you kidding me? We've done all this? That's an emotional moment. And it's not, like, I was so upset. No. And so, like, 30 hours you haven't slept yet. Yeah. I have not something a while. And so I think my dad, like, I was really upset and I went up and just sat on the rock. And my dad's like, I'm gonna go look. And I'm like, fine. You're not gonna find it. But I actually started to tell, like, dad just don't anymore. We've already looked for so

long. It's kinda pointless at this point in. So He's like, I'm just gonna go try again, and I'm like, okay, fine. So I sit there. I'm just upset, obviously, and my dad, like, if I stick 1 of my poles in the air. That means I found it. And I'm like, okay. And so I'm just sitting there for a really long time. And then he all of a sudden starts, like, maybe, like, 20 minutes. I... I'll, it's been a while. But... Anyways, he start screaming.

I found it. I found it and I just start, like, jumping and, like, screaming and, like, I was so like tears of joy. I was... So happy because... Moment is almost as good as when you dropped the ball on the first place. Oh, it no. It was like, the best feeling ever. And so my dad comes up to me finally, and he said, all, so I thought I found it, but it was just... That's a branch. I started. You're kidding. I've never heard this part.

Crying Are you messing with her? Are you really the and I'm like that that's you sit on the rock. And then he told me, and I was, like, so... I was a make sure, like, I was mad for a second, but then I was just so happy and we finally went there, and I was just, like, so relieved. Like, that was so many hours of just worry, and I don't know. And so, yeah, that was A lot longer than the an hour. So we... We would happened is the when bull ran at us when she shot again.

I seen no tracks like, he went down to this 1 hill, so I kept checking for blood. And we looked every... I mean, I followed every single way I could go. I didn't see anything. And it was, like, man, I know she ate it. I see him pump up, like, you know, it was a good shot. And then we went up actually go walking all the way back up the hill where she shot from. And I was like, looking, rick could possibly win, And then I didn't think I thought of the long shot there was... 1 little

way. I was like, maybe it didn't come that way, you know, like, 1 little way like a little hook in... Like, a little hook. Yeah. And in. So I wind up why I wind up looking all around again. I kinda gave up, and I'm like, you know, actually... She was pretty... She would really upset really. Mean, she was, like, broken down because I think she... You know, a whole night and no sleeping. So we wind up, I was feeling really bad. You know, as much as a good bowl I wanted to

go to waste. And I know she hit it. And I wind up, actually say a prayer and wind up I'm like, god. Just... III gave up, and because I didn't find right. The way I went... Didn't find it. And so I just thought, I'm walking back to here. I'm like, now be awesome with that thing We just wrapped on a tree or something, you know, and I'm walking, and it was a way that you would not... I could not even imagine he woulda went. And and Look and like, First I thought I was

saying something. The bullet, you could tell you he went up and he fell backwards. He only went, like, a hundred and 50 yards, but he went the total up opposite direction you would expect. Yeah. And he had fell backwards and, like, bend up in a tree. Oh, shit. Yeah. That was cool. That's quite a story. And finally, when Ryan got up there, though, and we finally, cut it off, It was, like, pitch black again. U. We start walking back down, and it... Took a long time, and I remember...

Ryan gave me 1 of the goats to take care of. And I was... It was so stubborn, And, like, my dad had, like, the the Oc o'connor or whatever and, like, they were all carrying this stuff. I didn't carry that much. I don't think at that time. And I was just, like, that go kept I'm pulling... Trying to pull me into the river or whatever. Like, it was just pulling me all over the place. And it was, like, it was a journey to get back to.

It took forever, and we ended up getting back, like, I remember, it was like, 2 or, like, No. 444, it was 4, and I'm Slept in the back of the truck until, like, really late the next day like, wow. You definitely needed need some sleep. Because I just went passed out. But I was so happy that I was like, sunburn everything, but I was so happy that next day, like, relief and all that stuff. Nice. She said when I get there. She wasn't happy to see me. She was just dang happy to see

the goat. That's right. I'll be the same way. I was, I'm not gonna carry this... We're not gonna take 2 trips out... What did you get there? Oh, I got there right at dark, holy shit. Like Had to go into town and they weren't they weren't exactly Close to the road. Yeah. And then I had to reload the goats, rep put all their painters on, start hiking in. Yeah. And I wasn't exactly sure where he was, but once I got to the top and it's pretty flat and it kinda came to my senses of how it went down.

But I'll give Jim props. He took a man load out of there with that head. Yeah. I don't know what you had was well over a hundred pounds. Yeah. My foot... That was after my foot was good... That was... I remember walking the the foot was the biggest problem. Yeah. I... We didn't have enough quotes to carry the whole thing or what? Not... They can't carry that head, but he didn't we basically took the whole head out. She's getting... She got it mounted. So he had the head to hide and everything.

It it was well over a hundred pounds. Yeah. The and the ghost did good and ability good, my... A good day, but you did have a lot of time on your feet. Mh. Probably me I was. Always makes it worth at the next day, though, probably 50 hours. No that, but the story for later too, like, that's the story that sticks out. What did she end up actually hitting it? She hit 1 and she hit... The that second shot was really good shot. The first

shot was a little high. Mh. But second shot was, I mean, he went about it. It was a long shot. It didn't went but it didn't hit in heart, but so went about a hundred and 50 yard, but and downhill, they can go downhill quickly. Yep. Even when they're dead. Yep. But... I don't know what it was weird how it played in my mind where I watched him run or when she hit him I seen him go a different direction and he went. Like, that 1 direction he he went. I did not see that. I even know. Like, how

my brain played a trick on me. Yeah. Maybe just being down there here. You seen him go this way, but he really went this way. What's crazy is they were... These elk were pretty much right on the trail. And they have a video of it. And there was probably a hundred elk. Mh. It's crazy. Like, they're just feeding across this big sage brush flat. No. Yeah. And then that was that was from a... That was up at the top where the outfit had busted

them. Yeah. They were just actually bringing a hundred out. That's October. And that was October first. So they brought a hundred out it's bow around. It's the same tag that they have again this here. Okay. Okay. Yep. Same place. 2 of them. Right? Did you 2? 2. Yeah. So it'd be Charlotte and to be determined. Yeah. Here's a jim drew the tag, so it he could give it to Ana annabel or amy. Depends on how that arm does. Yeah. So as far as go back to the beginning Ana annabel on your first elk cut,

we have a video of it. Mh. What? Like, what do you think drives the car girls to go hunting? Like, most girls don't hunt? Even if their father is a hardcore hunter like your dad, why do you think in your own words that you have 3 out of your 4 and probably 4 out of 4 girls at hunt? So I don't know. I just know... Like, the second I turned 10, for some reason, I just wanted to go hunting. So bad.

Like, I saw my dad is done. Like, ever since I was little, he'd always, like, come home after his hunts, and I'm like, I just thought it was so cool. Like, I like loved it. I don't know if people won't usually think that way. But... And like, I said, like, like you guys say, my sisters are pretty competitive, and So when they see. I I do it. Oh, they wanna do it too. Yeah. So I think that's kinda how it all falls in, like, oh, I'm gonna do better than you.

It's always like, who's gonna shoot the better elk this year. You know, Not that kind of stuff. But, like, it all started with how bad. I always saw my dad, like, go hunting and he's, like, that cut type of dad that care so much. He's, like, He wants to make it fun for you, even though, like, we argue and stuff like that. I at the end of the day, I'll get us a smoothie and say it's okay. You know, But no. It's... In the heat of the moment the dads

could be pretty tough. Yeah. I see gel Jim y'all his mom. What do you shoot at? No. He's she didn't wanna make a shot and he's like, mom up her waist in our freaking time. Shoot yelp. So that's... End of just if you think is competitive nature. Kinda also fostered from your dad, you know Mh. So... Does help when you have a a dad that pushes himself so hard he's falling apart. Yes. Yes. And we've had never given up. A lot of arguments. He pushes me a lot, like,

Again. And it's really hard sometimes, but then I'm so thankful for it because you'd see a lot of other kids today. They're not pushed by, like, their parents or whatever. And even though, like, sometimes it's difficult. Like, it's made me a better person and, like, I've gotten to do a lot of cool things because of it. And so I'm just really thankful. Like... That my dad is so, like, he wants us to do good. In running and hunting, like, he... You can see he genuinely cares. Mh. And he wants me

to be good. So. Does he push you harder in the hunting side or running tonight? Like, physically and mentally running. Yeah. I make a lot of mistakes, like hunting like, he gets mad me about that kind of stuff. I'm willing to go, like, if I'm gonna get a good Elk, I'm willing to go wherever it, I have to go. But with running at first, it started, but It was so hard. My dad's, like, you need to go run on the treadmill, and I'm like, I do not want

to. Like, things fight every time. Mh. There's not a lot of not only... I would say kids. Girl or boy. There's not a lot of men that would stay up for 50 plus hours and put in 20 plus miles in that terrain. Yeah They're just not So it's pretty cool. Would you give... What do you got a tip for any young females that are starting to hunt? You got any tips or tactics or any words of advice? I don't know. I guess I guess you kinda just gotta make it fun sometimes. Like,

I pretend to... Like, I'm talking to myself throughout the whole entire hunt. Like I'm... I'm gonna do this now. Out loud or to yourself. Both. We might have know him how crazy it was like using. Hey, guys. What's up. We'll come back to my channel. But even if I don't how you and I'm talking to myself about my imaginary channel, like, make it fun for yourself. And, like, I don't know. Find a way to put it in a way you like it because obviously, it's hard, but if you put

it. In a different way or think about it in a different way, like, this is gonna be worth it in the end. And I don't know Sometimes that can push you or, like, think, I don't know. Especially if you've done multiple hunts, you're like, okay. I usually end up happy at the end of a hunt. And I know this is the hard part, but you just gotta push through, and you'll have a cool story or or you're you're gonna... You know,

have something cool. So that you've done. And so I don't know if other people think that way, but Not a lot of people get to see L like that in the wild either. A it's a dry... Once you see it the first time, or you kill a big bowl like that as fucking. It's addict. Mh. How many bulls you on to now? Out, in total Elk It's I honestly don't know. 7, but... Yeah. You've shot at least 5 bulls. Right? Is Yeah. At least and then 2 cows and I don't remember how many bulls at least

5. That bull in your story is about 3 times bigger than my biggest bowl. It's it's in their palace and it's upstairs. It's... Good. Is is a good. What is what's your favorite piece of gear? Last question? Favorite piece of gear? Go on every hunt or it has to go with you. Hiking poles. Checking poles? Checking poles. Yeah. Because, like, you're going up the seat mountains, you're gonna fall over, if you don't have those things. And so definitely for me. And also a good

backpack. Because when I didn't have a good backpack, my back and hips start really bad. Speaking that, What is that backpack because it fits the girls? Like, what is that name of that? Yeah. So it is Western? Start Oh, shoot. He built it for kids as a pro. Right? Yeah. Western oh. I should note too he's on rock sign. I can. Then I know it. Good. It's a great backpack. Yeah. The game changer for the girl. She actually packed this last hut. She packed the most she's ever packed

out before. In the pack, you know, because they don't make packs for kids, Mh. Or smaller frame people. And they... Like, when we did it before, I just felt bad all the time because the pack is, like, you could see just weighing on her shoulder. You know, just totally off. The chest straps choking them to death. Yeah. It's not even. Or shoulders or hips are ripping it apart, you know, But this pack, I don't know why I can't say off top my head Western. It's... They're out in

North Dakota. Western adventures or western outdoors. I... Yeah. Western. I can't. Band it's right off. We'll get, Western packs for arcade for kids. Yeah. Western edge. That's it. Yep. Western edge gear. It's amazing how well that fit you and emmy. Oh, it's actually comfortable. Like, compared to the other backpacks I've had to take. Oh, and even just by itself, like, I feel like it just... Fits to the point where it's like I can put more weight on.

But before it's like, weighing me down and I'm just like, I'm gonna fall down the mountain if I'm not, you know, but I don't have it un uncomfortable. So. It's made a big difference. That's part about being the oldest annabel, You don't get the hand down. You know now. You get the new shit. First awesome. Enhance your shooting experience with stock stocks. You're you're a guy to listen to. I don't know if he's right or wrong, but he said... So it's it's July twelfth.

Going Scouting, and what are we looking for? It's it's a good time to be out. This the last couple... It was this heat right now that we have is kinda... Slows things down a little bit, But, yeah. It's time you wanna be out Scout. Is there any particular things you look for like, as far as train features or you're going up to look for Are they still red pretty dang red color? Yeah Higher the higher country are like, so some of that lower stuff, you know, you get

drier... They... Are they start to blend in a little bit more. Where I like to hit the green, you know, because I was just up the other day and they were really red. So the high country, they're... It's prime time for high country right now. The high country just opened up. And the bucks are just moving up there, and I always find animals when they first get to their summer range.

They're out. They're eye out a lot more than they are, You know when they get... I feel like they get their fat put on and they, you know, than they start to, like, kinda change their habits a little bit. So I'm always been a fan of earlier scouting better. So, like, say, you got a lower country, like, couple weeks ago up Scouting. Maybe it's more in a couple weeks now. Yeah. I'll pull up. And I was finding good bucks. I was pretty... I was pretty

excited about it. We didn't actually get a tag in the area, But, and that was a little bit lower country, and they're the... They pop so we're good against the, you know, the green terrain. Now that's already dried up. You know, so they'll still pop. But right now, the high country is that, you know, is really green, and the bucks are just, you know, pulling up into, pulling home right now. It was a good time to be fine now. So it is like mid July. How do you... Even early

July I just that... I'm just fine when they first get to their they're they're home for the rest of summer. Mh. Almost feel like they're... I feel like they're like, a kid in candy shop for a couple weeks. And that's the early June, mid June. However, right now, is like, my countries July, early July. And and not that they won't be always visible and spot. I just find out, like, that early part where they opt that new shoots coming up, You know, they're that...

At home. I just see... I see bigger... Yeah, I see him a little more quicker. You know? Do you change your method for Elk to deer? Yeah. Elk. I mean, I'm looking more at, it's a good time to Elk, you know, the Elk tend to, you know, the bucks when they hit home. They're using in that area. They elk, you know, like, like in, you know, depending like, in even high country, lot of the calories are, you know, they're down... You know, they're down you know don't, c

and steel. You know, they're just coming out now. So I find elk move around a little bit. I'm more looking for terrain and you'll find a battle or herd of bulls up high, you know, and then cows pull up. So like... There's still some movement going on with without. Do you change, like, so mid July right now? Do you change your basically your you strategy in August at all? Or you're looking for the same general. I'm looking for the

same general areas. I like to I like to, in the the best time to hit a new area. I feel is earlier. You know, Like, if you're gonna scout a new basin or a new country. Like, that earlier. That way you're... You have a better... III considered all your odds. Say you're going to a new country. And like I've said before, maybe on this podcast is the like, sometimes you have you know, Feel like there's a window of the time where those bucks are out more. You know, you wearing even bulls out more

feeding more they're easier to see. That's why, like, early seizing. Early scouting to at least find out where they're at because when it dries up and they get a little bit more wary in your terrain. Mh. They seem to be out less. So You might have to... They might still be there, but you have to look a lot hard to find them. And if you don't know they're there, and you're looking at new terrain, I'd rather find bucks that pop real

quick. Then, you know, it's it's always easier to look hard in an area that you know there's bucks than rather... Okay. I think there might be bucks in this country. So you just tend to look a little bit less hard, I think. Know, But if you knew they were in there, you're gonna look harder. I'm gonna look in that glass a lot harder. And if you expect to see something, I think it's just that confidence. I expect I'm gonna see something here. You So

then you can... You'll be glass and harder behind trees, you know, where you need to be glass versus, like, I don't have a clue if they're freaking anything in you're or not. So you know, like, to put the effort fork the glass. To make it worked it, you know? And you're talking earlier when when Jake was talking about. This early season deer tag, he used the moon a lot can you

kinda explain that? Yeah. I just... I mean, I'm... I don't I don't know for for deer, especially boxes you can blow it up a little bit Rhett? Even even even a even bulls, I just find a little bit more consistency with that new moon. I've seen... I see some great days with a full moon. But I've also had... And and I've also had on a full moon in a spot out. For instance like, say my 1 brothers hunt. We seem like, where do we see it? We seen a ton of bucks that after

late afternoon? Is that a full moon? It's full moon? Oh, yeah. There was the morning. 40 bucks. Yeah. In the morning? The morning before, we see, like, maybe 2 bucks. The next morning, full moon, first thing in the morning I get up after we packed that buck out. 40 I glanced everything. I seem too dear in the whole mountain. Because they just ain't out. Like, they have a less consistent... You know, they may might of fed all night, and then They might they might be more... They might...

They might there might be days that they're more out in the evening time and they're not out in the morning time. You know there's just a little less consistency whenever you have a dark, it's usually more consistent first thing in the morning, they're gonna be out for a couple hours You know. It's just a consistent thing rather than You know. Like, I looked there was 40 bucks we've seen the night before. And I

looked that whole mountain ridge over. Again, the next morning to see him through any just fine. No. There was nothing. You know. So this consistency, you know, this is September 20 24 here. So you're right about the beginning of the of the month there. Yeah. With a new moon on the third. So that that time right there is gonna be the best because they don't have any light that night to be feeding. Yep. So they're gonna be out like you said, consistently consistently in the morning. So if we hunt

that next week, that'd be a good... Yeah. And and I know people have... I mean, I mean, we... You know, full moon or no full moon you gotta go and you gotta go. But. And you can have just as good and luck. I mean, you see more bucks on a moon, but I'm just saying that consistency. You, you're gonna have a crappy morning. Like, I I've had more crappy, you know, like, you get to a basin you wanted a glass for a long time and you go up there in full mood

and You think there's nothing in there. And then you go back a week later 2 weeks later, and I've had it, you know, I've seen 30 bucks in the basin and and we go back. It just happens to do full moon, I'm not even thinking about it. In any of the temperature differences make a difference too, you know if it's hot. We're cool. I've also had it where we're go and you're expecting to see all these bucks and then you don't see anything, so you lose

that confidence in there. Mh. You know, or we didn't see anything we went back, and then I've had a... But 1 of my best spots. I just happened to go there during her full moon. The first time I've been in there could it look great to me. And I didn't see Jack. Mh. But the only thing The reason I went back there again because I've seen tracks everywhere. Was like you he was tracked up, but I'm, so I went happened to go back there, you know, actually during the season.

And I was like, man, I'm just gonna try it. And we went in there we seen, I, 30 bucks. It 1 of the best hunting days ever. Mh, but it was a spot that I had scout during the summer on a full moon. I didn't see anything. Something like I seemed like a 1 cow pop out of the timber. No. They would go back and it loaded it up. But you don't know. But but I knew that... Being... Another thing when you're scout, and you're always looking for sign, You know, like, no matter what during day.

If you're walking. You're looking. You're like, okay, Just tracks all over here. Is nothing in here. You know? You're always getting a picture no matter what you're doing. Like. Even when you're driving to, you know, driving roads, you're always looking what you might wanna be checking out in the evening, so you're not wasting time, you valuable time, but You're definitely always looking at the train and, like, you'll look at and you see bunch of

old crap everywhere. Yeah. Good indication it might just be winter range. But, Yeah. So Like in this situation, if we were gonna go Scout... We we should probably go Scout next month during the new moon time frame there, and then you're gonna know kinda what to expect the next month. Yeah. Yep. I like the... I like the new moon. I mean, if you have if you

can control it. Now there's other things that, like I said, like, to say it just happens to be the beginning part of the month, it happens to be, like, a hundred degrees versus like... And then in middle, it's black cooler, you know, that temperature will make a difference for sure. Mh. And then if you get... And then if you know there's a bunch of fires coming and fires could that unravel all this, you know, with Scott with smoke. You know. That can unravel

everything. There's there's things Yeah. That's another reason to go earlier than later. Yeah. I've had areas I waited to go scout. You know, you go wait to go scout later and you go, I'm gonna go Scout this in August or whatever and then all set in fires just get, you know, start burning somewhere and, you know what happens with happens. Mh. So we have when Dion on. I'm not a far from a mule dear expert. I I like Elk a little more. But I'm always looking for deer when I'm

looking for elk. And I noticed the first 10 days when they're velvet, dear. I see him pretty much every day. Mh. As soon as they pop their Velvet off, I don't see him as much. My thought was, I've what Heard is like, insects and all different kinds of things that they they start hitting the timber. They're not because so concerned about being out in the open, what is your thoughts on why they kinda disappear from those big opening areas they were

in previously? I'll say the insects, insects, but also, like, their their horn... You know, they they like to be... They probably... I don't think they like rubbing their horns against brush whenever they're in velvet, you know, then they go... They'll they'll move down into the timber a little bit more, you know, later broad, I think because they don't like that. You know, when whenever it's, whenever they have that velvet in there and

they're... Though they're more apt to be vetted up under, you know, behind a scrub pine or something, you know? And it's just probably just because they don't have... They're not wack. Ant answers all the time on stuff. Yeah. And, like, D, phenomenal hunter, but he doesn't hunt a lot of the stuff that we hunt. And where we're gonna be hunting for this tag that Jake's daughter has. And these are like, fucking hunting close to black tails, man. They're not very

out very long. They got fucking tons of timber to hide in. So it's very difficult after that the shed or this who they shed that velvet, it's hard to find them. Oh, It is. Definitely. And and the thing about it. Here where we're we're on is is their feed sources, that's 1 thing about down there, you know, some a lot of other classic new country. They have more feed sources that are just... They haven't be... They're open... You know, they're can be open up here.

They get their brushes and stuff from it don't have to be open. You know. Mh. You know, obviously, they like a little bit more sunlight, you, for me, you know, because you get more shrubs and stuff, but they could... Appear to the consistency if they don't have to go to this open basin to get their food because there's not a... You know, there's not a lot of it. So do you think they don't make big moves of I've asked Robbie of Sd. They're probably still within that mile. They're just

more timber up. Yep. Yeah. I think the deer... Especially up here. They don't migrate very for at all. They just go down slow. You know, they're not they're not going to a winter range, like, some areas, you know, there's areas down, other spots that I go, they're, you know they're they're 60 mile 1 range. You know? Mh. These ones pretty much live where they live.

So they're they're gonna work their way up to their summer basin, and then they're work then they'll kinda have a faster track back down to their their winter range, you know? Well these ones are just slope differences. Then The other thing I got a question for you is you've told me multiple times that a certain burn came back that was deer friendly came back Elk friendly or vice versa. What what does that mean? It just... So, you know, until you get in there, you

can't really tell. You know, there's... It may... They might all look really green. Some of them don't. But and some... You know, they're elk typically like different foods and mule, you know, you you you get a lot of grasses, So, usually burns come back out friendly quicker. You know, you got a lot more other grasses and certain forbes that they're eating. Come up right away. I mean, can you look glass across at a Canyon and on a fresh bird and say, oh, that's definitely

gonna build. Yeah. You can. And you move you're looking for is, like, the type of... You do gotta know what is growing back. I've been tricked 1 time on it. There was an area that had burnt, and it... What it had a brush at the deer light. And the... You know, so I always founded deer around that brush no matter what. And I went...

First time I went look at it. I looked at it from afar, you know, because I wasn't I was I wasn't really scouting yet I had to go do something, but I was driving and I pulled over, where I can see the bridge from a, you know, 5 miles away or whatever. And I I put a spotter up there and I glass, and I've seen all that brush. Oh my gosh, sweet that brush came back. I

thought it did. But a total different brush had grown up there and when I actually went up there to go look for mule, because it was always a meal spot not Lx spot. Yeah and I wanna went up there. I no brush was totally different. And was, like, it was the same color looked in the same spots, but it was a different brush. You know? And it came back right away and it was. There were so many elk up there, the Elk eating that brush, but the deer weren't touching it, and I didn't see hardly

any deer. And then that burn, really never came back to I I feel... I think it burnt a lot harder, harder. So they actually never came back, completely for mule. A lot of the brushes they had before, and they come back. I don't know if they got scorched. And then, you know, there's some There's a couple other elk carriers, a couple of areas that came back really good for Elk that I know of. And... But the deer... You know, the deer had... The deer brush take longer to grow. Well,

they might take 5 years. So a couple areas I've noticed they they came phenomenal to your country, like, way better than they'd ever been before. But all these brushes that maybe just as a little bit of a in there. I don't know if the fire spread brush around, but that some allowed these brushes to thrive, and, you know, getting rid of that timber. And then these brushes came back and the mule just... I mean, you you could look at the patches and the mule are gonna be on those

patches. You know? So you just look at the brush. Okay? I see that brush Just gonna be deer there. Deer there, You know, you look at another burn what look might... Somebody might see it looks as good as that burn. But you look at it, And when you get in there, you notice the deer ain't touching that stuff, You know, And and so that they're not gonna be at a place They don't wanna eat, you know? So you talked about scouting for a, let's say, early season tag.

What about scouting in the same situation, you know, with this tag we're talking about, But but you you strike out on the early September week. And you're gonna do some scout for the the writing week. Yeah. So 1 of 1 of the things you go on look at, what I... I mean... Looking at the whole time you're scout when you're driving up there. You wanna be looking for access. Mh. And then look for win range stuff too, you know where you're on, you know, where where these deer going to? It's

always has a store. You'll see you look on side of the mountain, and you'll see game trails, You know? I'm always just taking account of these things, and you wanna look... You don't wanna also think about access say you got a lot of snow. I mean, there might be spots you're not gonna, you know you're gonna get to. So you're looking for your places that look like you can hunt you effectively. I'd rather go in a spot that

I look like... Know, like, I'm... You know, if you could think you can hunt it versus the you think you can it. Like mh, like, say just a a nasty freaking ridge that you don't think you can hunt. You mean, you're looking for spots that look like they'd be fun to hunt. Okay. We're good on effectively. But you're also... You know, you gotta think that there's gonna be deer

there or whatever you're looking for. So I'm always looking for, you know, the spots you can hunt effectively as you're going, but you're also looking for those game trails. Like, if there's a bunch of game trails that you could tell that... The winter wintertime they're down? Mh. That's a good that's a good indication. You know? Okay. So... So when they're moving, how does the rut coincide with moving to winter range?

Snow depth sometimes, you know, So that them there's definitely a lot of things that, you know, that come to play depending on the area. Like, you know, like, the bucks that we're gonna be looking at. They don't move a long ways to, for your for your daughter's type. U. They don't move a long ways the winter range. So you're gonna be looking for nose. And a lot of times, they're only gonna move down a little bit, You know? So we're not talking big best.

Majority. But but but what you're gonna be looking at we're saying in the early season we're we're hunting the top of the ridge or we're where we're finding the deer at. Mh. You're gonna be looking for Okay. These deer... If they get you get 2 or 3 feet of snow up here, you deer are gonna probably pull down into this... And that's where we found a lot of these...

Bucks that we found, in November, Know, they might have been a little bit higher in September or, you know, early, but they just moved down to these brush fields stocks you're looking for those, like, brush fields that the deer are gonna like. See an Office brush and not? U. You're gonna be looking... Okay. They're gonna probably pull into here. And and then you gotta kinda just kinda... Yeah. Estimate

Dolby in that. So generally kinda of the worst the terrain, the worst the country you're hunting in the less the deer are gonna move between summer and winter range. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We don't have we don't have we don't have deer... We don't have winner range up here. That's why we have a limit to supply at meal. Mh. And we don't have, like, download low... Yeah. The order brush fields. Gotcha. Correct. Too much timber. Gym. II1 more question for you. How many phones has your dad broker lost?

So many. They just drop out of the car and then oh, crack. Oh, he's gone through so many phones. My mom's gone through, like, 2 or 3. Like, she only gets a new phone when that phone doesn't work anymore. My dad just like, oh, dropped this phone to it. Like, last year he dropped his phone into the lake. And which he's... I need that phone. I need to make some important calls and be, like, try, like, searching down there and, yeah, he basically.

At least the nice thing about phones today is everything just kinda transferred Acr remember we were getting, like, the first iphone or the flip phone or the Nokia and shit where you... You were just asked out. You had to re input everybody's name, where re put all their phone numbers back in all that shit. And then they had some cables and some little doo ads that would transfer shit. Now it's just clicking. Yeah. Your phone is replicated. No problem. So I let Jim my Bt. But yeah.

And I guess get it back from him, and there's some issues. I told you that. I dropped it. Do you just drop it. So he bent both... Of the eye cups eye. Okay. It is on a 95. Oh, shit. At t x. There's no scope cap anymore. Either there's no scope cover at the front anymore. And there's this big... I don't know if I told Him this there's this big slit in the front glass. So I just send it all the sw. U. And they sent me a message back and they're not.

They're pretty professional, but basically, they said, I broke every lens but 1. Face every lens but 1 inside the beach x 95 system has to be replaced. And did they fix it all? They fix it and Jim, you know, I told Jim charge to charged it up. Fix it. No problem. Okay. They charge you to fix it. Oh, yeah. They charge. How much damage are we talking about here? 900 bones. Oh. Ami at June. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah at least you got fresh glass out of the deal. Yeah. It's pretty fresh.

What you notice he keeps j me about brown it again. Yeah. Well now the glasses do we can see better. Yeah. Maybe that, maybe he did your favor. Yeah... I'm updated now. There you go. Yeah. What happened? What happened to those things? Well, I went up, you know, how Been... Know don't I have those slick tripod pods. I went through quite a few though, You don't, the leg break, why I when the legs go floppy on me. It I was on this I was on the glass on these rocks. You, it'll probably,

like, 20 feet down. Anyways, those glass on the rock, you know, for familiar in a, when of the legs won't flop up, you know that thing's, pop heavy. Yeah. That they heavy. Yeah. It they just flipped My gosh. Does he get, like, the 06:24 out there with a fucking 15 pounds set on top? 06:34. I think 6. Yeah harder for. All fucking cumbersome. Yeah. The reason you like Slick the because Slick has, like, a guarantee basically warranty. I I've had I've

had fix a couple 06:30 fours. And if you crack 1 of those legs, they just fix it for you. Yeah. He did have a leg took him forever to fix Yeah. Oh, really. Yeah I Don't know it was from the Covid stuff or wherever I never got it back. I took forever to get. So I... It goes to California. Well, they were saying they were missing some parts from some like. Okay. That's Always tell me and Robby have Jim stories because Robby known Jim Long I have. And Robbie Says, Jim Jim could fuck up an an.

Well, I think it's fine too because... When I first started out with you. We get a bed of this spot, and Ryan's like walking all over in these circles And I said, what the fuck you do he goes, it's the circle of gym. How about lose it. I didn't know you at the time. Right the, you know, it all kind of cave to fruition after a while. We we learned what the circle of agenda was. But Jim is... 1 of the best scouting hunting people that I've ever met. He's also got the worst case of Edd

I've ever met. Mh. Yeah. So it's it's part of the deal. Well, we run into an hour. You guys have any... Do you have any more questions, Jake? Well, I get... We we did talk about, so we pretty much covered how to scout for for that tag and What about... Do you ever do any east scouting? Yeah. Definitely I'm old do. Yeah yeah. So I do. I like, I mean, Have a, like, during off season? No. I... I'm obsessed with it, you know, like, they'll

always looking for spots, but you gotta... Like, you can't just find a spot on the gale East Scouting. Mh. And you gotta you gotta kinda correlate that with the country you actually see, You know? If you can look at Google or whatever all Day on? Mh. And then until you can... Unless you you'd already know the country, you know what the what the drain you know what, you know, what you're looking at. And so I mean, it's a good tool. Mh. The least you know what... You know, what it kinda looks

like. But until you go in there and you go, okay, this brush. I'm looking at. This is what I'm looking at. I've seen areas that, you know, it'll look great on Google Earth and you go to them under Oh, yeah. The just a drain don't use, you know? Yeah. So it's it's it's just it's a good tool though. But it it helps you eliminate a lot of countries. Like, in this situation, if I... You know, if I hired you to go Scout out for

this tag, for example, are you... You're just gonna rely on your local knowledge at the moment, or you're gonna do East out East out East county first because, like, a a lot of, you know, they're they're getting more. Man. It's... I kinda don't like it. Yeah. Be it because then it loves everybody else to have you amazing and stuff, but... Yeah. They're coming out with new features all the time, you know, like, you know, like, all

this lidar shit and... Yeah. Well, new features, you know, you're able to see, you know, you you know, more real time, you know, closer to the actual year, you don't in in and with the. Mean, like the images and stuff are refreshed more often. Yeah. And then you got, you know, like, until you get more refreshed in images, like, say a burn burns. And a lot of times, you, before, you might not be able to see it even a couple years ago, you couldn't you

wouldn't know what the burn looked like? You might know what burnt, You know, Like, he's looking on Onyx and it shows... Oh hey, there was a fire in this area. U. But until you act she go physically see it. You don't really know until it refresh. You can even pay for a fresh skin now. You can pick an area. Right? Ryan? You so Mark say, Mark say? Yep. We did a whole podcast on East County The saying, basically, you can pick this area. You can literally pay for a live satellite up

feet of that of that area. Yeah. So it it just allows it a lot more. So is a bit definitely a good tool that be kinda wasting a lot of miles on if you didn't have. When I start a Scout, well, I've been when I I kinda I got stuff scouting early. You know? It... It was all about map. I had maps. There no there were no images. No. And then I remember...

Okay. I think this basin is gonna be open here or this is gonna base and kinda looking and you just have to go go freaking and hiking in here and go see. You might be just disappointed. This disappointed a lot, You know, hawk that's crap. Ain't gonna see nothing there then you get to... You know, so so now it's just got better easier and easier for everybody, which it it... It's... I I guess it's good for a as a whole, but, you know, for individuals to shine out. I think it's,

you know, the gaps closing. Yep. You know? Yep. Onyx is showing more you know, access points. You guys were able to shoot further. Yep. And then just, like, access points that you had to, like, kinda figure out on your own before, now you could pretty much look at Onyx and, oh, hey. I can get in here. I can get in here. I can get in here, You know, And it makes it... You know, just a lot easier for the, more casual guys than Yeah.

Don't only... Jim Kid, He he would rival, Mark let say and what he does Es. Bet. He'd, like, what lot of the stuff that I watched and got. From his east scouting marks east scouting, class Jim's already. Nobody. He's pretty nerdy. Yeah. I'm... 1 of the things like, when I was out in the. Did I'd be sitting on your front. Could sit on looking at maps or Google or I could sit on there for, like, hour. Like, it doesn't like it's

like, fun. But what you show, like you show me something send me something like, like a video gave I is I'm like, hey. What is just route? I measure ralph. Okay. Oh, that would be a cool way to get up there. You know? What's funny about Jim is, like, the tools that he showed me be like, I... He would send me someone like Well, what the fuck is that? Yeah. So then Go like, he's walt's right there and Go figure that out and I'm like, damn. So you'd have spent hours.

As on Google earth. Mh. Yep. Definitely When I'm when I'm when I was away from you know, like an, like, not able to scout physically, Be. Okay. I'm wanted... That's... I guess the the strong point to Adhd is, like, you can focus on certain things that you like to. Everything else kinda like, falls the away wayside. Extremely focused at 1. Yeah. My last my

last question for you, Annabel. Mh. I have a daughter that is is a similar age to you, and I'm curious, do you know what you wanna do for a living when you grow up, I mean this at at this age of 16, you gotta realize that the world's approaching you pretty quickly. Yeah. I'm sure your dad's preparing you

in his own way. But do you see yourself like in today's, like, not being able to afford a house, that kind of thing, focusing on college, trying not to pay too much for college, trying to get a scholarship and all that. Do you see yourself? Staying at home for an extended period of time? I mean, more than the age of 18, let's say? Or do you have an idea of what you wanna do for a living I... What what what is it? What does it? What does it look like in a 16 year old girl's brain? I don't know.

I... I don't, a lot of kids. I don't I don't know my age wanna move out and there ready to go and be on their own. But I'm really not. Like, I, like, love being at home and stuff like that. But I've been asking my mom Like, what should I do when I grew up? I just can't figure it out because I'm just like, I... I'm not a big school person, so anything that I do is gonna have to be something like, I have a little bit of 80 issue that my dad has. So I, like, have a hard time focusing on things.

Okay. A lot. I have a hard time focusing on things that I don't really necessarily care about. So I feel like if whatever I do, I... It's gonna be have to be something I really love to do. Because if it's not, I don't think I'm gonna be able to perfect it or even try. And so that's why I'm just... I've been, like, running through, like, what kind of things am I good at that I could... Du for a career. Mh. I just can't. You don't know yet.

No. I don't. Wow. Well, let's say that you get a scholarship and you go run track it, at Oregon state for 4 years and you do fantastic, and then, you know, you leave but you well, obviously, you gotta pick... You gotta pick some point of direction when you go to college. Right? Like, you gotta point at teaching or pointed at this or that and I think I wanna get, like, something for business. Like, I either wanna own my own business. Mh. Or I don't know.

Like, definitely a business because my dad owns a business, and it's like, I know it can be stressful sometimes, but it seems kinda nice to be able to control your own, you know, what you do instead of being stuck onto somebody else's at, like, hours or whatever, Well, you're kind of in a room of business owners at the moment. So... Yeah. So... It is it's a whole another world than a than a 9 to 5 for somebody else. Yeah. It definitely becomes addict. Like, imagine

the 3 of us. Probably I don't wanna go work for nobody else anymore once you do your own thing. Yeah. Employ. Yeah. It is. It is a lot of fucking... It's a it's a shit ton of work. It can be it can feel un rewarding it sometimes and the stress level can go through the roof, but I don't think I'd have any... You gotta be the certain type of person to be cut out for it. There are people that can't handle that level the stress or hours worked and things like that. But if you're

tough like your dad. Sure you'd be. I'm sure you be just finding nothing else more rewarding though, you know, as as a whole as as having your own thing. Yeah. Like, my when my dad used to work for, like... Like, the oil company, like, when he was on, like, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. It was really hard, like, he was obviously working for someone or, like, for this place. And what as soon as he switched over, like, I I know there's been stressful

times, but it's been a lot better. Like, I've been able to see my dad a lot more, like, He's just been around a lot more and it's stressful sometimes time, but the same time it's not. Because when you wanna wanna go to... When you wanna go on a trip, you don't have to, like, be like, well, I have to go do this. You can. I don't know. You can kinda find your way around it. And so it's been kinda cool to watch my dad go from working for someone to having his own business, and

it's encouraging. So Yeah. Makes me wanna have my own business too. So another aspect of it. Aubrey was glad that I had my own business because I could go to all of her sporting events. That's big thing. And people underestimate that too. Oh, yeah. The the kids have... Across country stuff has been insane amount. There was no... I would miss... I would missed 2 thirds of their meats, you know? And... Because you were working 2 weeks on 2 weeks off? Yeah. And and... And even when

I was working you know, construction. You know? I mean, that would be even last, you know, there... So there is, you know, I I make it a point... Because I'm kinda, I basically take their, like, their sports almost as an investment, You know, I'm not gonna... III put it as a high priority my, you life, so I'm not gonna... So I I do make sure I make those things happen, where I had no control over that before, you know?

Well said, we wanna to. If you ever if you ever wanna come have the life, you know, live live a few days in the life of a business owner, I'm sure you can do this shit with your dad, be welcome to come around here or hang on with Ryan and myself and see what it takes to. Oh, yeah. That'd be awesome. I love that. Yeah. He way under than roof or she rocking. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Probably she probably quitting. Does she... That's right? Be that's why.

That's last she said she could come hang out, it makes some guns and shit or, you know, you can come back in Sara for a little while or whatever. We have we got another young lady your named Emily, who comes and she works summers here in the Circle department. So... That's cool. Yeah. You can always hang out and see if it's something you'd wanna do. I wanna see in the Olympics. I know that's. That would be awesome too. 4 years.

That's... So so she didn't say what she wanna, but I know that's the only things. To like, they're, like, in her brain, like, she hasn't got past that. Like, yep. Oh, I'm gonna run professionally. I no other there ain't no other... Thought you would say it, but that's what cheap you at the moment. Yeah. I don't wanna sound like I'm like oh, I'm gonna... That that's literally, like, ever since I started running. I wanna go to the Olympics 1. I wanna be a professional runner.

Mh. Because it's 1 of those things. That's like, yeah at first, it was a little rocky, but when I got hooked onto it, I love it now. Like each race, it's hard, but, like, you just love the feeling. You know? Mh. And when I started to see progress, that's really when I started to... I didn't used to be very good, but as I see myself going up. It's just... It's really cool. And I love it. That's your fucking old. Don't let it go. Yeah.

And it's like, I get my... Sorry. My my dad, like, you guys say he's, like, obsessed, like, you know, like, looking for mountains and stuff like that. He's, like, obsessed with statistics or however you say it or whatever. But anyways, he'll come out of, like, their room who the okay, Got all these times. He got he's gone through each person. Looked at their times for the year. Yeah. A pac pass. This is how fast you gotta be to make it. Yes. He like, he got it down like, he... Oh, my goodness.

It's crazy. Like, he won't he can't load the dishwasher. Can't the clean up after himself after he makes himself a sandwich, but he can come out and tell us every single time of the person that's gonna be in my race. Nice. That's thought I love it though. That's a dad's job. Yep. I found out real quick with jim. He is a numbers driven human. Mh. He met he's a math. Yeah. I know. Nice. Anything else any parting shots?

Yeah. So I guess, real quick on 1 of the things that, you know, to get the girls? I, you know, how... You, they all wanna hunt with me and spend time. It was kinda... I I was thought when I was... I grew up with 9 bra brothers. And so I was thought, I'd have ways to go hunting with and train for football. That. I was... I love football when I was younger and thought... So then that's where the training for the track came in. But

I like, Anna bell. I involved her, like, as soon as she could be on a backpack. She was in she was going with me in the mountains and just trying to made it made it, like, the whole time we... She was growing up with making that at something that I want her go do with me. You know, making it fun, and we're just making her be out there with me, not like, Oh, hey. When you turn 10, we're gonna go honey. And it was like, it was pretty much a part of her role life going up, you know?

So later, so she would she would see me bring animal home, so she would wanna go mess with the guts or whatever, you know? So she she wasn't scared of anything because she'd been around it a lot. You know? Yeah. I made at a point they have her go you know, with... Hey, well, plan with guts could make or break a hunter, I guess. If you're afraid of blood or a afraid of organs, you know, that could I could mess it up for you other. I said I wanna be a surgeon. And

my mom's like, are you... Like, I used to say I'm like, I'm gonna be a surgeon, like, a doctor. And my mom's like, are you scared of that kind... Definitely like. No. Yeah. Only problem would be the learning part I think. Yeah. But I'm not scared of any of that kind of stuff in. I was a weird kid. I told my parents. I wanted to be a friend. Pathologist was basically doing eye top. Yeah. I. That's shit. It doesn't mess them yet at all. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks for coming on. Yeah. Thank you. Appreciate

you guys. Yeah. Alright. Thanks, Listen. Alright. Thanks.
