Episode description

What is the difference between a hex and a curse? Is it ok to curse? How do you curse someone? These are all questions I've been asked frequently, and we'll talk a bit about cursing and answer all of those questions.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for you. Hi. Everyone, thanks for listening to Shoes, booz and Tattoos. As always, I'm just I'm your host. Now here is your warning before we get started. I mentioned it in the last episode. This episode, as you can see from the title, is on curses, specifically from a witchcraft perspective. What they are, how to do them, things you might use for them. It's a simplified explanation of how to do these things and to take a different kind of look at

them. Now that being said, if you are against witchcraft, don't listen. If you are against cursing, don't listen. I don't want to hear any complaints. You have been warned. Now another quick warning. I have no notes on this. This is something that I get very excited about talking about. I guess you could say, I have a note card here with like eight bullet points, and then I looked up a couple of things as well that we could talk about. I do have opinions on this. Everybody

does, and that's fine. We'll cover that a little bit more here in just a little bit. But let's get into cursing. Now. I've already said if you are against cursing to not listen. Some people do follow this threefold law that WI can kind of belief that whatever you put out is going to come back times three. This is not something I subscribe to. This isn't something that I believe. I think there is a balance to an extent,

but but ultimately, sometimes cursing is necessary. That being said, if you are against cursing, if you feel it is wrong, do not send me a message complaining about it. Also warning I'm gonna be sparing a lot. That's a different kind of cursing. Ha Okay, I'm going to be a ridiculous for a minute, all right. So one big question that I get is what is the difference between a curse and a hecks will. I don't think there is much difference, but it really does depend on who you

ask. Some people have very strong beliefs that there's like this or order that they go in from least to most dangerous. Like a jinx would be least dangerous, just a little bit of bad luck, quick, little spurt of it done. Then there's the hecks which lasts longer, can be more dangerous, And then there's the curse that can last years and generations. But if we look at the definition, I looked at a few definitions, because there's

not just one definition. So, according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a curse is a series of words calling for harm to come to someone, a word or expression used in swearing or in calling for harm to come to someone, or evil or misfortune that comes as if an answer to someone's request. This is also a solemn utterance intended to invoke supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. Okay, we get that right. Hex this

is the funny one, defined by Mariam Webster to practice witchcraft. There's other definitions, of course, definition in Cambridge English Dictionary an evil spell, bringing bad luck and trouble, or to cast a spell on or be which. So, in my opinion, hexes and curses are very similar tomato tomato doesn't fucking matter. It's the same thing. In my opinion. Maybe one is less severe than another, maybe there are different thoughts on that, but to

me, they're so similar that there's no point. There's no point in making a huge distinction between the two, because overall, a curse or a hex is going to not be a blessing. It is the opposite of a blessing. You know what I mean, That's what it is in a nutshell. I personally do not see anything wrong with cursing or hexing or jinxing or whatever you want to call it. I will say one thing I do have a very strong opinion on is to not curse or hex immediately after a certain situation.

It should not be an emotional impulse. That should not be the case. You can't be angry about something and then automatically decide that you're going to curse somebody for it. It has to be a pretty pretty terrible thing for you to be able to do that. I mean, you have to be the best judge here. An emotional impulse is not something you should act on. We all know that when we are angry or upset, we might say things that we later regret. Right. We all do it, whether we

want to admit it or not. So why would you want to do something like this as a retaliation and then regret it later. It shouldn't be taken lightly at all, So be aware of what you're doing now. A curse or a hex doesn't have to be some big, long, intricate spell either. It can just be a few words, a few sentences. The thing that makes the curse or the hex work is the emotional energy behind it.

That focus of your energy energy into this, And usually a spell like this would focus on anger, pain, sadness, things of that nature, so not exactly happy emotions, so you're not going to exactly get happy results. I mean that kind of goes without saying. We're talking about hexes and curses. We're usually upset about something when we resort to these. Now have I done a hex or a curse before? Yes, I have done them.

I try not to ever go overboard, especially like if I'm feeling like I want to do something or i want that kind of retaliation and it could cause some big How do I explain this? I try not to be overtly harmful with it, you know what I mean. I don't want anybody to die because of a curse or a hex on my behalf, you know what I mean, So I don't. I don't want that. So I am careful to not do things when I'm very emotional or I'm very angry about something.

There have been times where I have been tempted, and it's been very difficult to refrain and try to keep my head cool because there's a couple of people, very very few that will get to that point with me, and I'm not usually like that. I'm usually able to let everything go. And ultimately, you have to be the best judge when it comes to cursing as to whether or not it's worth it. Do you want to let it go? You want to carry that around with you? There are different aren't ways to

do curses, and it's pretty much endless. You don't have to have any certain ingredients. You don't have to have anything. Really, you could just say a few words. But if you're going to do like a curse jar or something, we'll talk about that a little bit. Ingredients, don't overthink it, don't make it overcomplicated. You can use so many different things. I find stuff in my yard all the time to use for curses or for spells and things like that. For cursing, you can use a number of

things. You know, those little pricker themes that grow in your yard that are all You step on them and you end up swearing like a son of a bitch because all those little needles are now stuck in. You dig that up and dry. It be very careful, handle it with gloves, try not to get poked. I do this. I actually have one drying downstairs right now. I'll do this, and then I'll grab it and I'll cut a little piece off with scissors or whatever, and I'll put an in jar.

Now, it does depend on what you want this person to What do you want to come about with this curse or this hex don't be afraid to get creative. Say say you want somebody to find themselves in a sticky situation where the truth comes out. I would personally use things like that little pricker bush, any kind of glue, anything sticky. Honey, No, don't use honny. Honey's usually sweetened, you know, I suppose you could use honey, anything sticky. Really, if you want somebody to feel the pressure

everyone's eyes are on them, they're gonna start doing better. I would get this is gonna sound silly. I would get a balloon, Fold up this little teeny piece of paper with the person's name on it, stick it into the balloon, put google eyes in it, any kind of other stuff you want to put in it, and then stick the balloon into a jar below into the balloon, make sure that it's touching all those sides, and that pressures up against the sides of the jar. You don't have to overthink it.

It's a jar, a balloon, a little scrap of paper, and googly eyes. It could be something as simple as that. Or you can go all out, say you want everything this person puts out to come back to them. Stick little little pieces of reflective material like mirrors into this jar. I would personally say that you could fill it with vinegar, pe ammonia, catchh it. Don't fill it with catch it. You could put something there, though. Cat poop is surprisingly very good for cursing, and yes,

I do not know that from personal experience. Think of all this stuff that is unpleasant that you don't want around. I've used thorns for my rose bush. I've used those little pricker bushes. Of course, mold compost, but not like the compost that's kind of like dirt, like before it gets to dirt where it's like gross and slimy and stuff like that. I've used worms, rust, nails, vinegar, of course, urine. You can use vomit. That'd be kind of a hard one to do, though.

Usually it is best to have a target for this though A lot of people do write the person's name down or have a picture of them, or have one of their belongings. Sometimes you're not able to do this, or you do, you don't for some reason. You can also use objects. You can form wax into a humanoid shape. A lot of times people used to use either a potato or a man drake root or something like that that's vaguely humanoid shaped, and they would imbue this with whatever curse or whatever hex they

wanted to put on somebody because it was a human shape this item. You didn't even do this with popp it. By the way, this thing would represent that person. It would be that sympathetic magic that a lot of people use that would be intended specifically for that person. Now, hexing and cursing

do take quite a lot of energy. This is one thing I won't tell you exactly how to do it or exactly the things that I did that just invites that makes me leary it. It didn't opens the door for retaliation one of the people that I have cursed or hext however you want to put it. Basically, I wrote this person's name down on a little piece of paper, stuck it in a jar, put a bunch of stuff in there that was just gross, including cat poop. I think there was vinegar and rusty

nails and staples and stuff like that. And I wanted this person to specifically get what was coming to them, the ramifications of their actions to be blown into their face. Basically, not blown into their face. That's a bad oh, But I wanted this instant karma, if you want to say, I can't really talk about karma too much because I know the basic bit of it. But karma is much much deeper than just whatever you put out you

get back. It's so much more than that, and I don't have that complete understanding of it, and so I don't want to really talk about that too much. But I wanted this person to experience the ramifications of their actions more immediately or all at once. So I have this little jar with all this stuff in it, this person's name, and every time to get under my skin, they're being a self entitled douche, and I get pissed off.

Instead of dwelling on it, I grab this jar and I shake it, give it a really good shake until my frustration is subsided, and it never ever fails. Within a week, maybe I hear that this person is now how experiencing a bit of the ramifications of their actions, whether it's arrested for past warrants that have been out for years, or whatever the case may be. It's nice and I know it sounds silly, but it does emotionally help for me. Even if I'm just connecting dots where there really aren't dots,

it still brings me a little closure, a little satisfaction. Now, when it comes to cursing, we've mentioned that you can place curses on objects, on things, but it's we talked about it more is like a type of symbolic or sympathetic magic to where you are still targeting a person. You don't. When it comes to hexing or cursing you a person. A target like a person or human being is not always needed. We've heard of town curses. We've heard of the curses on the presidents, there's curses on baseball

teams. I mean, there doesn't always have to be a specific, one person target. Now, these, in my opinion, would take a significant amount of energy. It would have to be, in my opinion, at least to put a curse on a town or a generation's long curse this would have to be like a deathbed curse, in which case many of them are deserving. Do they like generational curses? Do they impact innocent people? Yes?

But thinking about what that person went through, that had to have gone through to feel the need to punish even innocent people for this, would I do it? No? But then again, I'm not in that situation. I've never been in it, so I can't put myself there. I can say that I would like to think that I would never do that, but who knows. There's a large enough group of people that are against you, you might No, there are little innocent I guess you could say curses and

hexes that you can do but don't really bring harm to anybody. They're more of an inconvenience. Those are my favorite kind. I don't do the big ones very often, like experiencing the repercussions of your own actions. I that was a very very special case. That was a very personal thing. But most of the time, like if somebody pisses me off, I'll do little little stuff that's just fucking inconvenient and just a pain in the ass, Like, um, let me think, Okay, most of what I do for

that is just through words. It's I'm rare occasions that I'll do an actual curse with ingredients and actually setting something up, because if that's the case, I want it to be a longer lasting thing there. You know, most of the time, I just want a little, you know, quick, little thing. Like I'm driving home with my daughter the one day we were at the grocery store. We're making our way home. We come to a

four way intersection. Everybody has stop signs. Cops sit around this intersection all the time waiting to catch people rolling through, and they'll give you a fucking ticket for it, and it sucks. So I come to a stop. Right as I am fully stopped, big truck guy comes rolling that not like a semitruck driver, but he's in this giant just truck and he comes rolling down this hill. He barely barely gets to the stop sign. As I'm

like halfway through the intersection. He's yelling at me, throwing his hands up, flipping me off, beeping his horn because he wants to roll through it. So my daughter and I get through the intersection and I pull into this little parking lot there. This is kind of like off of the main roads and everything there but there's a few buildings back there, and I pulled into

the parking lot. I watched his truck go up the one hill and I just said that I hoped that the universe would make him slow down and realize what he's doing. Something along those lines. It wasn't exactly like that. I don't remember the exact words I said, but as I said that, there was a forklush pulling out of the one development area pulled out and he gets stuck behind it. My daughter looks at me like, oh, that's amazing. I was like that. I think was just complete coincidence because I

didn't even know that was there. But that was just an interesting one and it did make him slow down quite a bit. I mean, I don't think they made it over ten miles an hour going over this hill, and there was traffic coming the other way so we couldn't go around. Plus it's a hill, double solid laying there. Little stuff like that. A reasonable person that can kind of put that stuff aside and go fuck, I'm acting like a douche, which not everybody's like that, And I'm sure this guy

just got more and more and more upset as the day went along. No idea. What happened to him after that? I've never seen the truck again. Nothing. I mean, it's just been litle little stuff like that, like I hope a bird poops on your shoe, or you know, things like that, little stupid, annoying, inconvenient things. Those are my favorite because it's that little bit of getting back at somebody for an outburst like that

while also trying to teach them to chill out a little bit. You know, no matter where I go, what I do, I always try to be polite, consider it and nice to everybody because I don't know what anybody else is going through. But when it comes to stuff like that, you don't have the right to just take out your emotions on strangers because if you do that, then they have the right to go right back at you with it. It's one of those things like I hate hate, hate, hate,

hate hate when people say you'll get respect when it's earned. Everybody deserves respect right off the bat. Everybody does. You would like to be respected right off the bat, right so why not give that right off the bat. That's how you're gonna get it. You treat other people the way you want them to treat you. If you're a douche. All that's saying is I want to be treated like I'm a douche, and that's exactly what you end up getting. Now, there are some people that this is not something

I do. There are some people that involve deities in cursing and texting. These are usually much bigger and much more dangerous in my opinion. Usually when you start involving spirits or other deities, it's for physical, spiritual, emotional, psychological harm. I've never intentionally done something to harm somebody. It's always been an attempt to get my little my little jab in or to help them learn to fucking quit. You know, I do not think it's personally okay.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to involve entities, deities, anything outside of our existence into spelts like this. You are plenty to be able to do these little things on your own. Don't go overboard. Yes, there may be times where somebody deserves it, but that's not for us to decide, especially when it comes to physical harm. I don't think it's right for us to do that, so I won't encourage you to do it. If you do it, you do you don't involve me, don't

You didn't hear about it from me. But just be careful with what you do, because who knows. Maybe I'm wrong, and this whole what goes around comes around the thing is true, and you never know, You never

know what's going to happen. Plus, if somebody see you're cursing another witch, if they pick up on this and they realize you're doing this, you bet you better be guarded because you very well might get exactly what's your addition out back times a bunch never ever ever curse somebody without it being for damn good reason. I do want to talk about binding really quick, because this kind of falls into this category worry. I stay away from binding completely.

I don't want to do it. I've always felt uncomfortable with the whole binding thing, and a lot of you might be familiar with binding because of the movie The Craft. I bind you, Nancy from doing harm, harm against other people, in harm against yourself, that whole spiel. The way I feel when you bind somebody, When you bind somebody from being able to do anything magic, hurting other people, being a dick wad, I feel like

you're essentially putting them on a leash and connecting it to yourself. You're binding them to you because you are controlling that bind you know what I mean. It's not just tying them up and then running and leaving. You're connected somehow to this too, because it is your power keeping them bound. So I choose not to bind because that's the way I see it. Some people see it very differently, and they bind all the time, and really you shouldn't

be doing that. You don't stop it unless it's on like murderers, pedophiles, stuff like that, and you don't feel that you're now going to be bound to them for some reason or another. You do you, you do you. I will not do that just because I feel like I will now be bound to them in one way or another. So I'm uncomfortable doing that. I'm sure. I'm sure there's a lot that I kind of skipped over

or just poofed on by. Oh, crystals, I don't know a lot about crystals, however, I will say, with cursing, hexing things like that, the only one I can think of off the top of my head that would be useful it's clear courts. And that's just because it amplifies everything I would also be very cautious about using that crystal for something else again. Once it's used for something like that, I would just leave it to be used like that or one of those things that if it's just a hex and

it's a quick one, set it outside. Either some kind of fay or animal will get it. Ultimately you probably don't need it anymore if it's a big one. Don't use a big one for a temporary thing like that unless you're willing for it to just be for that. How to remove curses, honestly, it depends on the curse. Depends on the curse and who put it. An acknowledgement, a cleansing, and a kind of like return to sender type spell usually does it. Mirrors are a very good tool for deflecting

things like that. Carrying black tourmaline just kind of puts a barrier between you and any kind of negative impacts like that. That's why that's another reason why I carry black tourmaline all the time, is because it is a protective type

thing, breaking them once you got them. I mean, it really depends on the type of curse, and that's hard to tell unless you know exactly who placed it, in which case they are able to take it off, they're able to stop it, remove it many times, either just letting it go and running water or burning it, disposing of it, not burying it. Bearing it's not gonna work because it's just gonna stay there, but dumping it out, things like that, that is going to break a type of

curse like that. If it's just words and the person say the person's dead, that's where it becomes a little troublesome because it does depend on the strength of it, what kind of curse it is, and it takes trial and error sometimes to break them. I mean, best bet. If you don't know how to break your curse, don't do it. Don't do one as a practitioner unless you are absolutely one percent sure that, say you change your mind at some point and you can just remove it, you can stop it

exactly where it's at. Don't do it unless you can do that. In order to do its bell you need to know how to break your spell. In order to do a curse, you need to know how to break one. This is simple stuff. It's like in order to cook, you need to know how to eat. You know, these are things that can be very dangerous. That's why I stick to the little bullshit annoying ones. I'm a pain in the ass for people at a rood, I mean, and

i'mill always. I always, always, always try to be nice, even if they're a dick to me. I will always try to be nice because I don't know what's going on with them, but I might send that little signal like, hey, stop taking it out on other people, that kind of thing. So what are your guys' opinions on cursing you for it in the right circumstan dances? Are you against it completely? Are you comfortable with it? Are you uncomfortable with it? Have you ever done a curse?

What was the outcome? Let me know, because I am very very curious about this with other people, because I do only do the little quick I guess you could define it, or use some people's definition as a jinx of a jinx to describe more the little things that I do. I do have one hex or a curse set in place that is a long term one or a recurring one. But that's the only one, and that is extremely,

extremely deserving, and it took me years to finally do it. It was just one of those points where I felt I had to and things I've gotten a lot better than fun. But let me know what you guys think. Let me know if you've tried curses. Also, feel free to send me any questions you have. You don't have to jump head first into this and guess if you do have questions, let me know, because I would much much rather you'd be safe rather than ask for help later and you regret what

you have done. Always make sure you can get yourself out of situations like this. But let me know what your experience with curses have been. Do you think somebody has cursed you? Have you ever cursed somebody? Have you gotten rid of a curse? Have you broken one? Let me know. As always, you can reach me Shoes, Boos and Tattoos Facebook and instagram, spt pod on Twitter, or Shoes, Boos and Tattoos at gmail dot

com. You can go into the Facebook group. We like to post a bunch of dumb stuff in there all the time, but we also do talk a lot about witchcraft. We'll have little memes floating around here and there, and I would love to start having discussions about some of the episodes, some of them like last weeks I was over. I was done with it. Once it was done, I didn't want to be talking about it anymore.

But stuff like this, I would love, love, love, love to have an open kind of conversation with everybody on there, just to see what everybody's thoughts and feelings are. Be respectful. Everybody's going to have different opinions, so please respect that for everybody just as well. The last episode, I did say that I will be skipping payment for April for Patreon, so if you want to try it out for a month see how you like it. I post a bonus story and a bonus video once every month. Feel

free to go on there and look again. Quick warning. The thumbnail else for the videos are ridiculous because I have no idea how to operate YouTube as far as like uploading stuff. I can watch a video, but I don't know what to do with the thumbnails, and YouTube picks the most ridiculous face that I make and decides that is not going to be the thumbnail. If you want to help the show, you can always leave a five star review iTunes, Stitcher, I don't know where else. If you can leave a

review, please do. Thank you all so much for listening I'll see you all later. Bye. No Whatstanamy so far tenfold mesery guiltake and doest agree going down what you've done to stop out today? I mustn't crave toe down White You time some yeah, ain't gone to the town white going down? So why you time to what coiling around? I'm gonna round were coming round
