实验室女孩Lab Girls是一档由化学工程博士在读女生Eva主办的播客，创办灵感来自于2016年荣获多个奖项的美国同名畅销书，该书在2019年以中译版在中国出版。 Lab Girls的作者霍普·洁伦（Hope Jahren）于1996年从加州理工大学获得博士学位，同年开始独立从事地球生物学研究。她曾先后供职于佐治亚理工学院和约翰·霍普金斯大学，从事教学和科研工作，目前在挪威奥斯陆大学任“威尔逊教授”一职。她的科研成绩十分优秀，是仅有的四位获得地球科学领域的青年研究者奖章中唯一的女性，也曾获得全美十大杰出青年提名。可以说是一位科研领域中的女性榜样。 Lab Girls的译者蒋青，是一位古生物学与地层学博士，中国科学院南京地质古生物研究所助理研究员，科普作者、译者。可能由于背景更为相似的原因，蒋青写的译后记十分打动我。同为女性科研人员，我们总是处在不断和自己性别刻板印象的不断斗争当中，并且我们中的很多人，就像蒋青所写“与霍普不同，从来不知道自己应该成长成什么样儿。但相信人比植物更自由，每个人在任何时候，都是一颗未知品种的种子。心愿和疑问是发芽的动力。他人的”定义“和耗费的光阴终将化为养料...
