“a curious lisp in her utterance” [HOUN]  In the canon of Sherlock Holmes stories, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle gave us settings and characters that spring to life in our minds. His vivid descriptions help us to visualize the places and people that Holmes encounters.   However, there's one subtle example that might go unnoticed by the untrained eye.
